My First Field Experience At Milton Union High School
Ellyn Shellhaas
Syllabi Paper
I am new to the profession of education, but where I lack in experience I make up for it when it comes
to my enthusiasm and willingness to learn more. My first field experience was at Milton Union high
school, and it was also the most scared I ve ever been in the classroom. However, when I went to
Stivers School for the Arts things got even better I felt more prepared. This year I m back at Stivers
and so far everything has been good, and I really enjoy working with my cooperating teacher. This
year will be a test of my endurance and capabilities. I am up to the challenge to work with students
who are linguistically diverse, even though I know it might be difficult at times. Studying Spanish for
six years half in high school and college have given me an idea of how disorienting it is to not
understand the language. Not only is it disorienting it is also very challenging, because languages are
all unique in vocabulary and grammar structure. These experiences will become of aid to me when I m
working with ESL students in the classroom. One thing that I am excited about in the syllabi is the
Socratic Seminars on page three. We will be having one seminar each time we meet for class over the
readings that we had for homework the previous week. I am excited for these seminars, because I
appreciate the opportunity to be able to discuss with my peers about what I am reading. It gives me a
time to ask questions for further clarification, or to share

Coke And Pepsi Has Shaped The Soft Drink Industry
COMPETITORS
Over 100 years, intense rivalry between the two Coke and Pepsi has totally shaped the soft drink
industry of the world (combined they are 73% of the market share). The most battles of the cola wars
were fought over the industry in the USA, where the consumption by an average American is 53
gallons of carbonated soft drinks per year. In a competitive struggle, from 1975 to 1995 both had
achieved average annual growth of around 10% because of increase in soft drink consumption
consistently in US and worldwide. Then this cozy situation was threatened in the late 1990s, when the
consumption dropped for two consecutive years and worldwide shipments slowed for both Coke and
Pepsi.
Globalization provides both with unique challenges as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In case of shortage of the raw materials the prices have to be increased in order to match the expected
the expected revenue which further brings down the demand. Similarly, natural calamities also affect
the demand sometimes in the same manner.
6.) Cultural factors
To make its place in a society, a brand has to connect with the social values prevailing in the culture.
Pepsi is currently associated with the western culture and is trying to make its place in the eastern one
too. Various cultures hold different perceptions which have to be assessed carefully by Pepsi to
localize its brand in new cultures.
ECONOMIC AND NON ECONOMIC GOALS OF PEPSI
1. Sales Maximization: Sales Maximization involves business charging lower price to capture a large
market share. Profit is a goal of the firm but it gives more priority to sales maximization as its efficient
management and cost reduction has already given them much profits. Pepsi owns more than 25% of
the market shares and also dominates the sales market. So, it marks its price in such a way that it is
pocket friendly for the consumers. In order to promote sales maximization, it aims to have a strong
market position and launches its products in more than 200

Was Raleigh Tate Justified In The Trial
Sheriff Tate accidentally stole Arthur s right to be legally protected. Sheriff Tate might not have been
the best sheriff for Maycomb. He lies, tampers with evidence, and bends the law. He also lets his
emotions control his actions and doesn t think things thoroughly. The death of Bob Ewell was justified
because he has done some horrible things.
Sheriff Tate might have some of the traits and qualities of a good sheriff. However, would a good
sheriff lie, bend the law, or tamper with evidence. When Mayella claimed she was sexually abused
Sheriff Tate didn t take her to see a doctor. He claimed No sir when Atticus asked But you didn t call a
doctor? While you were there did anyone send for one, fetch one, carry her to one? (224). Mayella
could ve been hurt and they could ve had more evidence, but instead he decided not to get her a

The Music Club Alternate Ending
The Music Club was buzzing with energy as the staff readied for the night ahead. Several members
were cleaning tables while Yvonne, the headline act was on stage practising her set. Ella busied herself
with checking glasses for smudges as she listened to the woman s wonderful voice. Ella, can I get a
coke? her boss called from the table where he was watching Yvonne with intensity, never looking up
as he waved Ella over. Ella grabbed a clean glass, poured a coke and took it over to him. What do you

from his chair. It was the quickest Ella had ever seen him move. She was forced to dodge out of his

Gun Ownership And Gun Related Homicides
Abstract
Several peer reviewed studies on the subject of gun ownership and gun related homicides were
identified and reviewed. During the research phase it was noted that there are opponents and
proponents of gun control that present logical sounding arguments, but there have been several
research studies conducted that suggest that there is a positive correlational relationship between gun
ownership and gun related deaths, particularly gun related homicides. This paper will review many
studies that have been conducted on the correlation between gun ownership and availability and the
rate of gun related homicides. The majority of the studies focus on comparing the United States to
other countries since it has been found that the United States has a disproportionate amount of gun
related deaths when compared to other countries of comparable economic and political status.
The Relationship between Gun Ownership and Gun Related Homicides
The Second Amendment states that A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free
State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. It is likely that no other
single statement has created more debate between people in the United States. Some people believe
that the Second Amendment was written with the intention of allowing citizens of the United States to
individually keep and bear guns for their safety and defense. Other people argue that the language of

Islamic State Of Iraq And Syria
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a military and political organization which is mainly led by
nationals of Iraq and Syria. ISIS has committed crimes of unimaginable cruelty in Syria and Iraq but
the international criminal court (ICC) does not have the power to open a case, according to Fatou
Bensouda. The court was unable to prosecute because neither Syria nor Iraq were members of ICC.
(ICC, 2015) Crimes which have been reported, consist of mass executions, sexual slavery, rape and
other forms of sexual and gender based violence, torture, mutilation, deployment and forced
recruitment of children and the harassment of ethnic and religious minorities, and the destruction of
cultural property.
ISIS Jihadists originated from Al Qaeda and claim to be running a caliphate an Islamic state ruled by
one leader. They want to enforce their view of conservative Islamic traditions. The caliphate covers IS
controlled areas in northern Syria and North Western Iraq. ISIS uses social media to spread fear. ISIS
has more than 30,000 fighters known for their brutality and it is said to be raising more $2 million a
day from oil sales, taxes, extortion and smuggling. The U.S. and Arab partners are launching airstrikes
on Syrian targets to degrade and destroy ISIS. (BBC, 2014)

Submarines Revolutionized Naval Warfare
Imagine not having the cars or weaponry that exist in today s society. The world would be changed

military uses submarines to carry missiles, conduct reconnaissance, support land attacks, and establish

were not just transportation or attack strategies. They were used for various tasks such as making
blockades and to make reconnaissance with other people. Having multiple uses for the submarine is
what gives it the advantage. Stealth technology increases the odds of a sucessful attack, since the
enemies have a harder time finding, tracking, and defending against aircrafts ( Military War

The Australian criminal justice system approaches young offenders through unique strategies to
address the challenges of dealing with juvenile offending. Even though young offenders commit a
higher percentage of crime compared to adults, young offenders also have the highest likelihood to be
rehabilitated and change their lifestyle as they mature, resulting in a lower court appearance
percentage due to the different rights children have.
There are a few repetitive reasons for young people to be involved in crime. These include poor
parental supervision, drug and alcohol abuse, neglect and abuse, homelessness, negative peer

Essay On Concealed Weapons Crime
Abstract
Is the violent crime rate affected by citizens legally carrying concealed weapons? One side argues
being legally allowed to conceal carry weapons lowers the violent crime rate. Another side argues
being legally allowed to conceal carry weapons increases the violent crime rate. Currently, there are
forty three states that are right to carry states and seven states may issue which makes it very hard to
obtain a concealed weapons permit. This paper will compare violent crime rates within the state of
Florida before and after the implementation of legally concealed weapons. This paper will evaluate
how legally concealed weapons affect the crime rate. Such findings will be gathered from a
combination of studies and sources, including: an interview study of police officers (qualitative data
on how concealed weapons effect crime rate), crime rate statistics illustrating Florida s violent crime
rates per capita and various experts within the field of concealed weapons and their impact on violent
crime rates. The improvement of police methodology will also be evaluated to test the impact of
concealed weapons and its effect on the violent crime rate.

Sophocles Oedipus the King and Cocteau s The Infernal Machine relate the same story, yet from quite
different angles. Sophocles play is written in heightened language and spends 1,530 lines on an hour
of time. On the other hand, Cocteau s characters speak colloquially, and his 96 pages cover 17 years,
putting much more emphasis on the events prior to where Sophocles begins his play. Sophocles and
Cocteau present Oedipus character in different lights, and through these characters express contrary

Sophocles Oedipus is a clever man and a sage ruler. Unfortunately, he thinks too much of himself and
believes that he knows better than the gods.
Cocteau s Oedipus lacks wisdom and behaves in a silly manner. The Infernal Machine presents
Cocteau s vision of what transpired between Oedipus and the Sphinx. In this version, the sphinx
blindly chooses Oedipus to be Thebes savior and even answers the riddle for him. She picks him
because she has a crush on him and is bored with her job. This Oedipus becomes king out of luck and
rules very much like a child. All this Oedipus strives for is action, adventure. (Cocteau, Infernal
Machine, p.45) Even the Sphinx says, The fool! He understood nothing. (Cocteau, Infernal Machine,
p. 53) Of course, by not understanding what transpired with the sphinx, Cocteau s Oedipus believes
himself to be a genius and an able ruler. Of course he can not
even make it through his nightmares without the support of Jocasta, his wife/mother.

The Pros And Cons Of Nazi Concentration Camps

World War II is one of the most imfamous periods in human history. The world is still shocked today
by the horrific idea of the Nazi concentration camps from 1933 1945, but what many people dont
know is what awful, unimaginable things went on behind closed doors in these terrible places. The
Nazi SS doctors used the unknowing, innocent prisoners in these camps to experiment on for their
own personal pleasure and amusement. One of these infamous Doctors was Dr. Sigmund Rascher, a
German SS doctor during the Nazi regime. He experimented on the prisoners with the consent of
Heinrich Himmler, the leader of the the Schutzstaffel also known as the SS. From 1941 to 1944,
Rascher conducted some of the textbook ethical trespasses of Berlin s human experimentation regime .

Case Study Sealed Air
Sealed Air was faced with two different options regarding the prospective launch of an uncoated

As with all the evaluation of all new product market entry strategies, Sealed Air must first consider its
organizational strengths and how they relate to the potential product launch. More specifically, Sealed
Air must be cognizant of their widely respected brand of high quality and superior performance coated
bubble packages. With the potential launch of an uncoated bubble packaging product, Sealed Air risks
diluting their brand value, particularly in the quality and performance conscious US market. There is
also the possibility that the introduction of an uncoated bubble wrap product might negate the
consumer education the organization has previously performed regarding the advantages of coated
bubble products. An additional organizational strength of Sealed Air is their corporate management

The Effect Of Capitalist Values On The Prioritization Of
The Effect of Capitalist Values on the Prioritization of Obesity in the United States of America
In theory, the US is capable of providing a varied and healthy diet for all; yet why are more than one
third (36.5%) of US adults obese (Ogden)? Broadly defined, the World Health Organization states that
obesity is a condition in which the presence of abnormal or excessive fat accumulation presents a risk
to health ( Obesity ). However, regardless of the growing prevalence and incidence rates, capitalism
has increasingly driven consumer behavior, perpetuating the wide spread of this health issue. Despite

To begin with, the negligence of obesity in the United States today is rooted on the prevalence of
greed that has become a leading force in the economy and society. By putting profits above consumer
health due to the fear of not attaining the benefits of more wealth, greed has become a socially
accepted and justified trait. In a society where money is at the center of all decisions and activities, it
is unsurprising that the government has chosen the low hanging fruit for convenience s purpose by
neglecting this health issue and focusing on gaining profit instead. A clear example of this was in 2009
when the Obama administration first issued a stimulus bill to fight against obesity through community
level anti obesity campaigns. Unfortunately, at first the bill was not passed as the cost was too
expensive and it also came at a time where numerous households and firms were facing economic
hardships. DesJarlais, a leading US physician justifies the rejection of the bill by stating it was absurd
for the federal government to spend billions demonizing certain foods and trying to affect people s
personal dietary choices...it makes absolutely no sense that federal and city agencies would

Censorship Definition Essay
A multitude of countries and organizations use censorship for various reasons. However something
they all have in common is the one providing the censored material does not want the reader or viewer
to know something, whether that be the true state of a country or the real history of a matter.
Censorship is a constant tug a war between two sides for the truth over a subject. This form of
restriction can be observed from the early 1900 s to today s modern times, and can also be seen
worldwide in countries that have little to nothing in common. A vast amount of media is not prohibited
in several countries surrounding the globe. In socialist Venezuela, there is current distress surrounding

For example in 1930 Nazi Germany, Nazis burned Jewish writers works, Jewish artwork, and pretty
much anything else derived from the Jewish culture. A similar event can be seen in Mosul, recently.
The terrorist group ISIS also known as ISIL, has been engaging in book rades and so far have
damaged ¨three [major] libraries: a Sunni Muslim library, the library of the 265 year old Latin Church
and Monastery of the Dominican Fathers, and the Mosul Museum Library¨ (University of Mosul

potential reason suggested for these violent outbursts these terrorist groups are performing. According
to al Zamili, Islamic State group considers culture, civilization and science as their fierce enemies.
When this is taken into consideration it is obvious why the terrorist group has been acting out and
damaging libraries, due to their housing of books that contain such subjects. Overall governments,
organizations, and those in power often times use censorship in order to shelter or hide things from
people. For example, when a parent is just doing what is best for their kid and doesn t just let them do
whatever they want. There is always a reason, often times thought to be protection. However it could
potentially be more, perhaps manipulation? Whatever may be the reason censorship will remain a
vastly used form of restriction that some may just need to learn to

The Pros and Cons of Russia´s Economy Essay
Russia s economy is very complex and also very terrible at the same time. Many other economy s are
also like this but Russia s is a very interesting thing to learn about. Russia s economy has many things
wrong with it that in the long run could probably affected it in a negative way. But it also has many
positive things about it.The negatives and the positives are, in my opinion, are equal in Russia
economy. Lets start out with the good things that Russia s economy has. Russia has an more than
enough natural resources. They have plenty of timber, precious metals, oil, gas, and coal. Those
resources being exported could easily benefit their economy if it wasn t for other countries who
produce more of the resources taking their potential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason that their economy won t fall is they still have a budget surplus which it s GDP isn t
very high. And one of the most important reasons is that Russia s unemployment rate is at one of it s
lowest in Soviet history. So, based on those facts it s safe to say that the Russian economy isn t going
to crash anytime soon.
Russia s economy has been becoming tight on public finances but they believe that it ll help their
economy. The reason they think it ll help their economy is because it help keep inflation under control.
They are also trying to get interest rates cut down to a smaller amount which will also help out the
economy. The Russian government has been preparing for big unemployment rises due to the
monopolies. The monopolies are saying it ll help people find new jobs but it really won t because now
they ll be on the unemployment list and will be having the government paying them until they find a
new job. By having more people on the unemployment list it adds to the country s debt.
Russia is already in debt and it couldn t really afford to be put into more. Russia s national debt is
around 6,709,506,270,191. Russia is so large that it makes sense that there national debt is so high. In
the U.S. our country isn t big at all compared to Russia and we are in 11 trillion dollars more in debt
then they are. Both the U.S. and Russia need to cut back on spending on unnecessary things and focus

Descriptive Essay On Fishing
My father and I have be going on an annual fishing trip since I was eight. Every summer, we would go
out and sit for hours waiting for something to bite. Last year my father made a poignant observation,
he noted that in recent years there seemed to be less fish. He s been doing this trip since he was my
age and where he used to at least get some pull, he now has to wait nearly twice as long for anything. I
ve since come to realize that our ocean is running out of fish. We are overexploiting a natural resource
and doing nothing to stop it. The current large scale fishing operations are not sustainable ecologically
or economically.
large fish are disappearing from the ocean at alarmingly high rates. There has been a 90% decline in
the top predator fish abundance in the world between 1955 and 2000. Most industrial fishing
techniques are overly aggressive to marine environments in that they attract an abundance of bycatch.
The three primary techniques are surface long line Fishing where chains more than 100 kilometers
long are floated in the ocean with thousands of baited hooks, fish aggregating devices use long nets
going down 300 meters that are left for days and just collect fish indiscriminately, finally and perhaps
the worst being bottom Trawling which involves a long heavily weighed net dragged across seafloor.
Fish aggregating devices are too indiscriminate in what kind of marine life they capture. They are
often deployed with the intention of catching skipjack

The Insanity Of Insanity
The mind is what drives every living creature. The brian tells us everything we need to know in order
to survive as a species. It is the most crucial aspect of what we are. Humans have the most complex
and intelligent brain out of the entire animal kingdom. The individual spirit of a human is determined
by chemicals in the brain and the interaction between them and their surroundings. So what happens
when our brain does not function correctly? What happens to the person with the ailments and what
happens to those around them as a result of it? In both books at least one character demonstrates
insanity. While the books do not specifically state that other characters have mental instability, there
are many reasons to believe that some do. Helen and Ginnie are the two characters who show explicit
insanity. Helen kills herself and leaves her two daughters in the care of their grandmother. Ginnie has
suffered from mental illness for what appears to be most of her life and ends her life in a dementia
ward. Human instinct is to survive, pass down genetics and protect your offspring. We as a species all
feel this drive and when it is put aside, ignored or acted against it is a clear sign of insanity. Helen
stone had experienced so much in her life that she could not handle reality and decided that suicide
was the best alternative. This is our brain s last resort to a problem. To think that oblivion and ending
it all is superior to living. Ginnie always showed signs

Argumentative Essay On Monster
Monster Argumentative Essay
The United States judicial system says that you are innocent until proven guilty. In language arts class
we read a book called Monster, by Walter Dean Myers. Monster is about a 16 year old boy named
Steve Harmon, and how he had to go on a trial for felony murder. The book is set as if Steve is making
a screenplay. At the end of the book Steve is proven innocent, and free to go, but I believe that there
was not enough information for Steve to be proven guilty. The jury did not see many parts of the story
that readers of the book Monster read, for example, in his journal Steve writes about wanting to be
like King, he also has flashbacks to before the crime that show him interacting with other members of
the crime, and finally he had a lot of really close people doubting him. One reason I believe that Steve
is guilty is because of his journal. In Steve s journal he says, Anybody can walk into a drugstore and
look around. (115) This proves that Steve was helping to be a lookout in the crime, which means he
was an accomplice, and that he was in the drugstore when the crime happened. It was me, I thought as
I tried not to throw up, that had wanted to be tough like them. Steve also writes in his journal (130).
Steve is writing that he wanted to be tough like King and his friends. This proves that he wants to be
like King, which might have influenced him to help with the crime. Steve also writes in his journal, I
knew she felt that I didn t do anything wrong. It was me who wasn t sure. (148). Steve wrote this after
talking with his mother. Steve is doubting his own innocence, if he is doubting his innocence, then is
he really innocent? Steve has many flashbacks during the trial. One of his first flashbacks is with
Johnny, Peaches, and King. They sat together while King was planning to rob the drugstore. King
says, I need to get paid, man. I ain t got nothing between my butt and the ground but a rag. (50) Steve
agrees, I hear that. (50) This means that Steve had at least known about the plan to rob the drugstore,
and was there when King was planning to rob the drugstore. In another flashback we read about Steve
talking to Oswaldo Cruz, another person who was helping to rob the

Theme Of The One That Got Away
One of the fundamental themes in Zoë Wicomb s collection of short stories, The One that Got Away,
and that which this essay focuses on, is identity. Wicomb s short stories are interwoven with political
percepts, history and semiotics linking her two homes, Glasgow and Cape Town, as well as the
different stories, together through a extensive network of interconnected identities and settings (Driver
145). By the juxtaposing of settings in a single period of time, Wicomb creates a unique social and
domestic backdrop that reveals elements of the characters identity, and, inadvertently, elements of her
own life. Wicomb strategically makes use of historical and cultural references to produce intra textual
significance to allow the reader to engage in the text and deconstruct conventionalized ideas and
notions (Driver 146). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The name Fotheringay, introduced in the very first line of the story, is not only the surname of one of
the main characters, but a historical reference to Fotheringhay Castle, where Mary, Queen of the
Scots, was imprisoned (Mackie). The name of the castle, or the castle itself, may or may not be of
great significance to the author, but rather a manifest of Wicomb s diasporic experience as a South
African living in Scotland. Boy in the jute sack hood shows the importance of spaces as opposed to
intricate story lines, where Wicomb plays politics and culture against one another through juxtaposing
Grant s study and the garden, illustrating two seemingly different spaces that are loaded with politics

The Prehistory Of Human Existence
The prehistory of human existence in Britain includes an outlook into the Stone Age which consisted
of the lower Palaeolithic (Homo erectus), middle Palaeolithic (early Homo sapiens) as well as the
upper Palaeolithic. While there are other species within the Homo genus such as the Homo
rudolfensis, Homo habilis, Homo antecessor and the Homo ergaster, I intend to focus on the Homo
erectus, Homo heidelbergensis and of course ancient Homo sapiens as I feel they have the closest
connections to modern day humans. While Homo erectus and Homo heidelbergensis are relatively
similar I am going to mainly define them as somewhat separate species to maintain the views of
modern researchers. Most fossils now known as Homo heidelbergensis were ... Show more content on

However the strong similarities between the Homo heidelbergensis and the Homo erectus means there
is some debate that there is no need to differentiate between the two and that it was Homo erectus who
first reached Britain. The Homo erectus species were believed to have lived between about 1.89
million and 143 000 years ago. Through the study of fossil remains of these early humans
archaeologists have gained evidence to show they were one of the first of the species to expand
beyond Africa. While we do have evidence showing Homo heidelbergensis/erectus presence in Britain
(for example Boxgrove) around 500 000 years it can be seen that they did not remain after this
original arrival, glacial periods playing a large part in the dispersion of these early visitors. The middle
Palaeolithic period was between approximately 300 000 and 45 000 years ago, the upper Palaeolithic
being between approximately 45 000 and 10 000 years ago. The Homo sapien species was believed to
have emerged during the middle Palaeolithic, more specifically around 195 000 years ago in Africa
and these are seen to be the first humans to have eventually permanently inhabited Britain. Despite the
evidence for homo sapien existence in Britain 400 000 years ago the presence of modern humans in
Britain remained brief and sporadic. It has only been continuous since about 12,000 years ago.
(Natural History Museum) The homo sapien species is therefore the species us

Far Cry from Where We Want to Be but We re on the Right Path
With less than one year and seven months left to achieve their goals, can the United Nations
Millennium Campaign be considered a success?
In September 2000, with the new millennium coming to an end, the ever looming reality of the serious
issues, such as extreme poverty and hunger that had been plaguing third world countries and the less
fortunate, had officially been brought to light and must be dealt with. These issues were compiled and
formed the basis of what is known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Eight goals that
the United Nations Millennium Campaign have set out to achieve by 2015, which include; Eradication
of extreme poverty and hunger, universal primary education, gender equality and female
empowerment, the reduction of child mortality, the improvement of maternal health, fighting
HIV/AIDS, malaria and other serious diseases, environmental sustainability and finally a global
partnership for development (SOURCE http://www.unmillenniumproject.org/goals/index.htm).
Fourteen years later, with just over a year left until the self imposed deadline, the question is Can the
Millennium Development Goals be considered a success?
I personally believe the MDGs to be a success in that, not only did they raise awareness and bring to
light many serious issues that had made life in countries, such as those in Africa and other developing
countries difficult or unbearable, less so; but they have implemented ways to remedy the problems
that created unfair living

Grouping Student Collaboration
Professions and all vocations require the ability to collaborate with others. The entire school district of
Jersey City is training their students from a very young age to master collaboration, despite who is
assigned in your group. Several projects are given as a group effort, therefore students must complete
this task efficiently with their group, or everyone s average in that group will decrease greatly every
time a similar task consisting of group work is assigned. Many teachers group the students according
to their ability, and some don t. While many disagree with this technique, I oppose this statement. I
believe that students should be grouped by ability because it is equitable, non stressful, and will act as
a wake up call for some students. No doubt, grouping the students according to their ability is
equitable because everyone in the group will contribute an equal amount of work without involving an
adult in the situation. Everyone would complete the assigned task that was given within the group, and
complete it efficiently. Grouping students depending on their ability doesn t necessarily refer to

the students won t be stressed because no one has to substitute the work of someone else, unless they

quality. On the other hand, one of the lower groups may experience difficulty due to their character.

Extrinsic Motivation And Intrinsic Motivation
Each of the jobs requires a great amount of hard work, dedication, and varying skills and abilities
depending on the tasks they are performing. Each of the different jobs conducted within our charitable
organization include task identity, each worker must complete their specific portion of work from
beginning to end, to then pass it on to the next employee so in the end they are all able to see a
tangible result. Each of the jobs within our charitable ogranization include the first three core job
characteristics, having skill variety, task identity, as well as a high level of task significance.
The five employees working at our charitable agency have the ability to affect the lives of many
families, and even the ability to change people s lives and get them the help that they need. Our
agency has the ability to affect the lives of other people in a positive way, which leads to intrinsic
motivation. Intrinsic motivation occurs when the employees have positive internal feelings that are
generated by doing well, rather than being dependent on external factors like incentive pay or
compliments from the boss, leading to motivation to work effectively.

employees at our charitable agency for the most part have a high level of skill variety, task identity,
and task significance, but the two core job characteristics in the Job Characteristics Model that need

Lamentations 1-3 Poem
In Lamentations 1 3, The whole metropolis of Judah was destroyed and the people who were not
murdered were captured and made slaves in Babylon. The people who survived the destruction of
Judah suffered immensely with no rest due to their new lives of hard servitude. This was believed to
have happened because rulers or kings had mistreated the children of Israel.
It is often necessary to express intense feelings when facing a tragedy, or in order to face a tragedy.
Sometimes fears may clearly be recognized as such and confronted openly but other times an outlet is
needed in order to release negative emotions, this supports the fact that Lamentations 1 3 and Psalm
137 are both written in the form of poetry (Cook, 44). In extent, to express their fear of imminent

comparison to rape was one that was made to express immense grief. Lament Psalms is also poetry,
one significant underlying theme was that Babylon will suffer what it forced on others. In

people of Judah to become closer to their god. They now contained within them the capacity to
remember that the One who gave and cherished life would be there to protect and console them

Hills Like White Elephant Symbolism Essay
Hills Like White Elephants The short story Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway uses
symbolism to uncover the hidden issue that the couple is facing abortion. They can either choose to

The symbols such as the hills, drinking, the station, and characters actions that are used throughout the

The station is placed between two lines of rails purposely to show her position at the station that
places her in between both hills forcing her to choose a side. The train station is a focal point between
the present and the future time that they have to make their decision before getting on the train.
Usually when found in stories, places such as train stations, bus stations, and airports give stories a
sense of transition or being in between experiences. Since the express wasn t coming for another 40
minutes, the topic of the abortion is brought up. It s as if the time that they are waiting for the express

beaded curtain hangs in the doorway of the bar. Bamboo is hollow, so when you look at it from a
certain angle, it is a ring. This represents the womb as empty if they decide to go through with the
abortion. If there is a string that runs through the bamboo, it makes it seem like the space is filled,
much like a pregnant belly would be. On the American and the girl s luggage, there were labels on
them from all the hotels where they had spent nights . The luggage can be seen as an outline of their

  • 2. My First Field Experience At Milton Union High School Ellyn Shellhaas Syllabi Paper I am new to the profession of education, but where I lack in experience I make up for it when it comes to my enthusiasm and willingness to learn more. My first field experience was at Milton Union high school, and it was also the most scared I ve ever been in the classroom. However, when I went to Stivers School for the Arts things got even better I felt more prepared. This year I m back at Stivers and so far everything has been good, and I really enjoy working with my cooperating teacher. This year will be a test of my endurance and capabilities. I am up to the challenge to work with students who are linguistically diverse, even though I know it might be difficult at times. Studying Spanish for six years half in high school and college have given me an idea of how disorienting it is to not understand the language. Not only is it disorienting it is also very challenging, because languages are all unique in vocabulary and grammar structure. These experiences will become of aid to me when I m working with ESL students in the classroom. One thing that I am excited about in the syllabi is the Socratic Seminars on page three. We will be having one seminar each time we meet for class over the readings that we had for homework the previous week. I am excited for these seminars, because I appreciate the opportunity to be able to discuss with my peers about what I am reading. It gives me a time to ask questions for further clarification, or to share ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Coke And Pepsi Has Shaped The Soft Drink Industry COMPETITORS Over 100 years, intense rivalry between the two Coke and Pepsi has totally shaped the soft drink industry of the world (combined they are 73% of the market share). The most battles of the cola wars were fought over the industry in the USA, where the consumption by an average American is 53 gallons of carbonated soft drinks per year. In a competitive struggle, from 1975 to 1995 both had achieved average annual growth of around 10% because of increase in soft drink consumption consistently in US and worldwide. Then this cozy situation was threatened in the late 1990s, when the consumption dropped for two consecutive years and worldwide shipments slowed for both Coke and Pepsi. Globalization provides both with unique challenges as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In case of shortage of the raw materials the prices have to be increased in order to match the expected the expected revenue which further brings down the demand. Similarly, natural calamities also affect the demand sometimes in the same manner. 6.) Cultural factors To make its place in a society, a brand has to connect with the social values prevailing in the culture. Pepsi is currently associated with the western culture and is trying to make its place in the eastern one too. Various cultures hold different perceptions which have to be assessed carefully by Pepsi to localize its brand in new cultures. ECONOMIC AND NON ECONOMIC GOALS OF PEPSI 1. Sales Maximization: Sales Maximization involves business charging lower price to capture a large market share. Profit is a goal of the firm but it gives more priority to sales maximization as its efficient management and cost reduction has already given them much profits. Pepsi owns more than 25% of the market shares and also dominates the sales market. So, it marks its price in such a way that it is pocket friendly for the consumers. • 4. Was Raleigh Tate Justified In The Trial Sheriff Tate accidentally stole Arthur s right to be legally protected. Sheriff Tate might not have been the best sheriff for Maycomb. He lies, tampers with evidence, and bends the law. He also lets his emotions control his actions and doesn t think things thoroughly. The death of Bob Ewell was justified because he has done some horrible things. Sheriff Tate might have some of the traits and qualities of a good sheriff. However, would a good sheriff lie, bend the law, or tamper with evidence. When Mayella claimed she was sexually abused Sheriff Tate didn t take her to see a doctor. He claimed No sir when Atticus asked But you didn t call a doctor? While you were there did anyone send for one, fetch one, carry her to one? (224). Mayella could ve been hurt and they could ve had more evidence, but instead he decided not to get her a doctor. Sheriff Tate also tampered with evidence when Bob Ewell was killed. He switched the knives around and took the one that killed Bob Ewell. Then he insisted Bob Ewell fell on his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He doesn t think things through when his emotions take control. When Tom Robinson was arrested, he didn t even question him. He confessed that by saying She identified him as the one, so I took him in. That s all there was to it. (223). He did that because he was trying to protect Bob Ewell. Sheriff Tate and Bob Ewell most likely served together in the war. He ended up putting his feelings in front of the facts. When Sheriff Tate made Atticus shot the dog when it s his job to. He even tried to convince him by saying for God sake Mr. Finch look where he is miss and you ll go straight into the Radley s house I can t shoot that well and you know it. (127). • 5. The Music Club Alternate Ending The Music Club was buzzing with energy as the staff readied for the night ahead. Several members were cleaning tables while Yvonne, the headline act was on stage practising her set. Ella busied herself with checking glasses for smudges as she listened to the woman s wonderful voice. Ella, can I get a coke? her boss called from the table where he was watching Yvonne with intensity, never looking up as he waved Ella over. Ella grabbed a clean glass, poured a coke and took it over to him. What do you think about her? Jacob flicked his finger in Yvonne s direction as Ella placed the glass on the table in front of him. She sounds good. Ella replied as she wiped moisture off the palm of her hand on the hip of her jeans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of a sudden Yvonne cut off. • 6. Gun Ownership And Gun Related Homicides Abstract Several peer reviewed studies on the subject of gun ownership and gun related homicides were identified and reviewed. During the research phase it was noted that there are opponents and proponents of gun control that present logical sounding arguments, but there have been several research studies conducted that suggest that there is a positive correlational relationship between gun ownership and gun related deaths, particularly gun related homicides. This paper will review many studies that have been conducted on the correlation between gun ownership and availability and the rate of gun related homicides. The majority of the studies focus on comparing the United States to other countries since it has been found that the United States has a disproportionate amount of gun related deaths when compared to other countries of comparable economic and political status. The Relationship between Gun Ownership and Gun Related Homicides The Second Amendment states that A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. It is likely that no other single statement has created more debate between people in the United States. Some people believe that the Second Amendment was written with the intention of allowing citizens of the United States to individually keep and bear guns for their safety and defense. One side argues being legally allowed to conceal carry weapons lowers the violent crime rate. Another side argues being legally allowed to conceal carry weapons increases the violent crime rate. • 26. Argumentative Essay On Monster Monster Argumentative Essay The United States judicial system says that you are innocent until proven guilty. In language arts class we read a book called Monster, by Walter Dean Myers. Monster is about a 16 year old boy named Steve Harmon, and how he had to go on a trial for felony murder. The book is set as if Steve is making a screenplay. At the end of the book Steve is proven innocent, and free to go, but I believe that there was not enough information for Steve to be proven guilty. The jury did not see many parts of the story that readers of the book Monster read, for example, in his journal Steve writes about wanting to be like King, he also has flashbacks to before the crime that show him interacting with other members of the crime, and finally he had a lot of really close people doubting him. One reason I believe that Steve is guilty is because of his journal. In Steve s journal he says, Anybody can walk into a drugstore and look around. (115) This proves that Steve was helping to be a lookout in the crime, which means he was an accomplice, and that he was in the drugstore when the crime happened. It was me, I thought as I tried not to throw up, that had wanted to be tough like them. Steve also writes in his journal (130). Steve is writing that he wanted to be tough like King and his friends. This proves that he wants to be like King, which might have influenced him to help with the crime. Steve also writes in his journal, I knew she felt that I didn t do anything wrong. It was me who wasn t sure. (148). Steve wrote this after talking with his mother. Steve is doubting his own innocence, if he is doubting his innocence, then is he really innocent? Steve has many flashbacks during the trial. One of his first flashbacks is with Johnny, Peaches, and King. They sat together while King was planning to rob the drugstore. King says, I need to get paid, man. I ain t got nothing between my butt and the ground but a rag. (50) Steve agrees, I hear that. • 30. The Prehistory Of Human Existence The prehistory of human existence in Britain includes an outlook into the Stone Age which consisted of the lower Palaeolithic (Homo erectus), middle Palaeolithic (early Homo sapiens) as well as the upper Palaeolithic. While there are other species within the Homo genus such as the Homo rudolfensis, Homo habilis, Homo antecessor and the Homo ergaster, I intend to focus on the Homo erectus, Homo heidelbergensis and of course ancient Homo sapiens as I feel they have the closest connections to modern day humans. While Homo erectus and Homo heidelbergensis are relatively similar I am going to mainly define them as somewhat separate species to maintain the views of modern researchers. Most fossils now known as Homo heidelbergensis were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However the strong similarities between the Homo heidelbergensis and the Homo erectus means there is some debate that there is no need to differentiate between the two and that it was Homo erectus who first reached Britain. The Homo erectus species were believed to have lived between about 1.89 million and 143 000 years ago. Through the study of fossil remains of these early humans archaeologists have gained evidence to show they were one of the first of the species to expand beyond Africa. While we do have evidence showing Homo heidelbergensis/erectus presence in Britain (for example Boxgrove) around 500 000 years it can be seen that they did not remain after this original arrival, glacial periods playing a large part in the dispersion of these early visitors. The middle Palaeolithic period was between approximately 300 000 and 45 000 years ago, the upper Palaeolithic being between approximately 45 000 and 10 000 years ago. The Homo sapien species was believed to have emerged during the middle Palaeolithic, more specifically around 195 000 years ago in Africa and these are seen to be the first humans to have eventually permanently inhabited Britain. Despite the evidence for homo sapien existence in Britain 400 000 years ago the presence of modern humans in Britain remained brief and sporadic. It has only been continuous since about 12,000 years ago. (Natural History Museum) The homo sapien species is therefore the species us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although I do not procrastinate with my school work to often I felt that it was enough for me to decide to use this behavior modification project to further reduce my tendency to procrastinate, especially with the work load I have encountered this term. Procrastination is essentially defined as putting off important tasks or work until the last minute and trying to complete the work in a very small amount of time. While I was working on reducing my procrastination I decided it would be a good opportunity to improve my time while working on homework or studying. The cue to trigger my brain to prepare to do school work was certain music, and the routine was playing it for 10 minutes prior to any school work, and the reward was getting better grades on quizzes, exams, and homework for all of my classes. By using certain songs and listening to them specifically when I wanted to sit down and work I noticed I was starting to become conditioned after a couple days of using the technique. • 32. Far Cry from Where We Want to Be but We re on the Right Path With less than one year and seven months left to achieve their goals, can the United Nations Millennium Campaign be considered a success? In September 2000, with the new millennium coming to an end, the ever looming reality of the serious issues, such as extreme poverty and hunger that had been plaguing third world countries and the less fortunate, had officially been brought to light and must be dealt with. These issues were compiled and formed the basis of what is known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Eight goals that the United Nations Millennium Campaign have set out to achieve by 2015, which include; Eradication of extreme poverty and hunger, universal primary education, gender equality and female empowerment, the reduction of child mortality, the improvement of maternal health, fighting HIV/AIDS, malaria and other serious diseases, environmental sustainability and finally a global partnership for development (SOURCE http://www.unmillenniumproject.org/goals/index.htm). Fourteen years later, with just over a year left until the self imposed deadline, the question is Can the Millennium Development Goals be considered a success? I personally believe the MDGs to be a success in that, not only did they raise awareness and bring to light many serious issues that had made life in countries, such as those in Africa and other developing countries difficult or unbearable, less so; but they have implemented ways to remedy the problems that created unfair living ... The entire school district of Jersey City is training their students from a very young age to master collaboration, despite who is assigned in your group. Several projects are given as a group effort, therefore students must complete this task efficiently with their group, or everyone s average in that group will decrease greatly every time a similar task consisting of group work is assigned. Many teachers group the students according to their ability, and some don t. While many disagree with this technique, I oppose this statement. I believe that students should be grouped by ability because it is equitable, non stressful, and will act as a wake up call for some students. No doubt, grouping the students according to their ability is equitable because everyone in the group will contribute an equal amount of work without involving an adult in the situation. The people who survived the destruction of Judah suffered immensely with no rest due to their new lives of hard servitude. This was believed to have happened because rulers or kings had mistreated the children of Israel. It is often necessary to express intense feelings when facing a tragedy, or in order to face a tragedy. Sometimes fears may clearly be recognized as such and confronted openly but other times an outlet is needed in order to release negative emotions, this supports the fact that Lamentations 1 3 and Psalm 137 are both written in the form of poetry (Cook, 44).
