Hurricane Research Paper
The hurricane began as a tropical wave a westbound low pressure area first observed southeast of
Cape Verde on 29 August.[1] Traversing the tropical Atlantic, the wave retained a minimum
barometric pressure of about 1010 mbar (hPa; 29.83 inHg) and strengthened briefly the following day.
[2][3] By 1 September, however, the wave had become rather weak and indiscernible; it would remain
as such for much of its early existence till 6 September, by which time it had moved past the
Windward Islands. In this region the system became sufficiently organised to be classified as a tropical
depression at 18:00 UTC that same day, about north north west of Grenada.[4][5] Some six hours after
its inception the depression strengthened to a tropical storm over the ... Show more content on

Intensification remained gradual until the hurricane moved into the Gulf of Honduras by 10
September, when the hurricane began to rapidly intensify. At 00:00 UTC on 10 September, the cyclone
intensified into a Category 2 hurricane. The storm strengthened further before reaching its peak
intensity with as a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 135 mph (215 km/h) at
1800 UTC.[5] The strong hurricane made landfall on Belize City at the same intensity two hours later.
A barometer in the city recorded a minimum pressure of 952 mbar (hPa; 28.12 mbar); this was the
lowest barometric pressure measured in association with the storm.[2] The hurricane substantially
weakened over the Yucatán Peninsula, and had weakened to tropical storm strength by the time it had
entered the Bay of Campeche. Despite moving back over water, the tropical cyclone continued to
weaken in the bay,[5] and made its final landfall roughly 60 70 mi (95 110 km) north of Tampico,
Mexico, with winds of 40 mph (65 km/h) at around 00:00 UTC on 13 September.[2] Over the
mountainous terrain of Mexico, the storm quickly weakened, and dissipated later on 13

Its operational capacity was severely limited by runway layout; Stapleton had two parallel north south
runways and two additional parallel east west runways that accommodated only commuter air carriers.
Denver s economy grew and expanded greatly in the early 1980s, consequent to booms in the oil, real
estate, and tourism industries. An aging and saturated Stapleton Airport was increasingly seen as a
liability that limited the attractiveness of the region to the many businesses that were flocking to it.
Delays had become chronic. Neither the north south nor east west parallel runways had sufficient
lateral separation to accommodate simultaneous parallel arrival streams during poor weather
conditions when instrument flight rules were in effect. This lack of runway separation and the layout
of Stapleton s taxiways tended to cause delays during high traffic periods, even when weather
conditions were good. Denver s geographic location and the growing size of its population and
commerce made it an attractive location for airline hubbing operations. At one point, Stapleton had
housed four airline hubs, more than any other airport in the United States. In poor weather and during
periods of hightraffic volume, however, its limitations disrupted connection schedules that were
important to maintaining these operations. A local storm could easily congest air traffic across the
entire United States.3 3According to James Barnes [1993], By 1994, Stapleton was one of the top five

Summary: In this part of the chapter, we are given a brief summary on the farm that they live on. They
live on a large farm with 6 family members who all have to help maintain the farm in Minnesota. They
have some traditions that would be odd in the eyes of others. For example, when an animal dies they
lay it on the ground to help fertilize the ground beneath it.The family members on the farm consist of
Mother, Father, Uncle David, Wayne and Eldon. The chapter starts off with characterization
explaining the roles of each family member. Eldon is only 11 so he helps around with everyone,
Wayne does the same, but he is also very gifted at baseball and hopes to play professional, Mother

Why Are Internships Important In Social Work Degree Programs
Laura: Why Are Internships Important in Social Work Degree Programs?
The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) recommends accredited social work degree programs
to offer internships and practicums. The CSWE s Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards
states that internships are a kind of field education that must meet certain requirements. Internships
must be directly associated with an accredited social work program at institution of higher learning.
The internship should have academic structure with established classroom objectives. Students should
be offered educational credit, the internship should be supervised by a social worker and schools
cannot substitute internships for mandatory classroom training.
http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation.aspx The Benefits of a Internships for Social Workers
Social work internships provide a strong dose of reality for students. One of the greatest challenges
that social workers face is transitioning from a comfortable educational setting to the social work field
where they must deal with serious real world problems and people. Internships, ... Show more content

The more field training a professional receive, the better prepared and equipped they are to start their
careers successfully. Declining an internship may result in the case worker making the wrong
judgement call and unwittingly ruining the client s life. All social workers must have certain
foundation skills that are properly developed through educational institutions that follow the CSWE s
accreditation standards. Some critics feel the internship is unnecessary for non traditional students
with impressive skills, knowledge and experience. However, training standards should be raised, not
lowered for social workers. Removing internships contributes to lower levels of professional

Animals Are Endangered From The Wild Animals
Birds are beautiful in the wild, and they re incredibly cute, but they are not good pets because they
require so much care. Parrots taken from the wild aren t meant to be kept in cages. Birds that are born
to caged birds are still only one or two generations from being tamed. They re not domesticated pets.
The practices that are used to catch birds and bring them to your home are abusive and cruel too.
Responsibility for a Parrot
Parrots are a huge responsibility. They require even more care than other pets like cats and dogs. They
are more complex creatures than dogs or cats too. Scientists have explained that parrots have the
emotional maturity of 4 year old human children. They feel emotions and have emotional demands
that people don t often understand. Since we humans don t understand their emotional needs, we re not
able to meet them, which makes for parrots with emotional problems.
Shipping and Treatment
The wild bird trade is worth billions of dollars, and the people who poach birds from the wild don t do
so humanely. Many birds are traumatized or killed during the process. They re ripped from their
homes, mates and flock with little regard for their emotional well being. Birds fly together, share their
homes and raise their young together. When one bird is taken, the life of that bird changes as well as
the entire flock that had been living together.
Lack of Space They Need
Birds that are already caged can t be released into the wild, but they are not

Leukemi The Bone Marrow
Leukemia is a malignant cancer in which abnormal cancer cells are produced in the bone marrow
(American Cancer Society, 2014) . Bone marrow is the soft, inner part of bones, such as the skull,
shoulder blades, ribs, pelvic (hip) bones, and backbones. The bone marrow consists of blood stem
cells, fat cells, mature blood forming cells, and tissue that support cell growth. Leukemia is the
production of abnormal white blood cells which fight off infections (). In the bone marrow, the process
of the blood stem cells developing into new blood cells is when the cells become either lymphocytes (
a form of white blood cells) or other blood forming cells, otherwise known as myeloid cells. The other

certain mutations causing over or under expressions of one of multiple proteins. The French American
British (FAB) classification as well as the World Health Organization ( WHO) use many factors to
determine the classification of AML as poor risk, intermediate risk, and better risk disease. Generally,
better risk disease is associated with long term survival of up to 65%, medium risk disease is
associated with long term survival of about 25%, and poor risk disease is associated with long term
survival of less than 10% (VanderWalde el la , 2014). Refer to figure 3. Leukemia is the most

Disturbed Minds In Macbeth
Explore the ways in which Browning and Shakespeare present disturbed minds.
Macbeth is Shakespeare s most famous tragedy written between 1603 and 1606. It is strongly written
with King James I of England s interest in mind, the supernatural. Due to this we are introduced with
the idea of the paranormal and witch craft straight away with the three witches. A Jacobean audience
would have feared the supernatural. It foreshadows the likeness of disturbed characters. Elizabethan
superstition was an irrational belief that an object, action or circumstance which are illogically related

which opposes God, too is evil. Nothing good comes from the devil and nothing good will come from

had thought only evil people do evil things. Therefore believing that that person is not of God and is
not correct in the mind, which could link to someone of a disturbed mind. Also the repetition of the

Jetblue Legal Issues
Introduction
JetBlue Airways is a passenger airline founded in 1999 by David Neeleman. Neeleman aimed to
provide the customer with first rate service at reasonable prices. In order to ensure this strategy,
JetBlue had to recruit and hire the right people to complement its core values. The company
encompasses five core values: safety, caring, integrity fun, and passion. JetBlue uses a targeted
selection process to identify employees which fit the company values. However, this approach can
lead to equal employment opportunity legal challenges.

(Lewis, 2007). JetBlue uses a targeted selection process. When JetBlue began its hiring, recruiters
looked for applicants who displayed integrity, as well as, showed traits consistent with its core values
of safety, caring, integrity, fun, and passion. The interview process for both mechanics and pilots are
built on these core values to ensure the right cultural fit. During the interview process, applicants are
asked to recall incidents from previous jobs and describe how the situation was handled along with the
consequences of the actions. JetBlue hired applicants who did not compromise on the safety of
passengers such as a mechanic who did not certify an aircraft because it did not comply with safety
standards. JetBlue hired this mechanic because his attitude fit with the standards set forth by JetBlue.
On the other hand, a pilot who was arrogant was refused employment. In pilot recruitment, pilots are
required to be computer savvy, but they also need to fit the culture of the airline. The company
covered the cost of pilot training, unlike other airline carriers, therefore, the aspect of being a cultural
fit is important to control attrition costs. If an employee leaves after the company invests in training, it

Driving Forces Affecting The Environment And Competitive...
There are several driving forces affecting the environment and competitive structure within the child
care. We will examine them in greater detail below.
As technology advances, more and more consumers are looking to the internet to make their
purchasing decisions, including child care. In addition, to fully research options, consumers are
looking for more robust, interactive websites. Therefore, some child care centers are offering virtual
walkthrough s of their facility on their website. Additionally, many centers offer tuition calculators
(customizable pricing based on hours required and the child s age), real time waiting list information,
and the facility calendar up to one year in advance. Another is the increase in the ability to ... Show

As incomes rise the market for premium child care options, which may include upgraded preschool
options, nutritional offerings to cater to many different diets and eating styles (e.g. vegan, Paleo, nut
free, gluten free etc.). Conversely, if the nay sayers have their way and the U.S. again faces an
economic downturn and jobs are lost, the decreasing market will increase competition among child
care centers to attempt to maintain their market share.
Some Montessori s participate in the state subsidy programs which assist low income families in
paying for their child care. This expands their market and increases their market share, however to
participate in these programs requires the center be susceptible to the frequent regulatory and
governmental policy changes. This can place an exceptional burden on the child care providers to
remain abreast of the requirements and meet them, despite the possibility of frequent changes.
One other area of concern for local Montessori s and child care centers nationally is the fluctuations in
societal concerns for the children enrolled. In the past twenty years public opinion, research, and
scholarly recommendations have oscillated between enrollment results in lower development in the
child, to enhanced development and everything in between. While public opinion certainly affects the
industry, parents will still need child care, therefore this driving force has a rather weak influence on
the industry.

According to European Charter on Environmental and health, Environmental health includes human
health and disease that occurs or get affected from environmental factors such as social, physical,
chemical, biological or psychosocial. I totally agree with this definition as it has effectively explained
that not a single factor is responsible for the ill outcomes pertaining to environment but multifactor

These are helpful to control insects generally called pests, unwanted plants, fungi and rodents that
tends to reduce the production of fields by sharing water and other nutrients from soil. Before going
further, it is important to understand the importance of my chosen environment and it can be
apparently explained with the help of five point criteria that includes time/activities, choice,
responsibility, vulnerability and risk.
After attending week 3 lecture, I am able to understand about this criteria that more the person remain
in specific area or place, higher the chances of him to get exposure(time), it means if a person resides
in a house after spraying of pesticides, he or she is more likely to inhale or having a direct skin contact
and same phenomena is applicable on farmers working in fields except the fact that they are working
in open environment while houses are closed spaces which are meant to be more dangerous as the
chances of ventilation are comparative less than farms over here.
Choice of dwelling in this environment is entirely based on the individual needs and also on their
expectations. Somewhat, it also depends on the natural phenomena s, for example different
geographical locations comprised of different type of soil, unwanted plants growth can be varied and

Arguably, faulty Washington level coordination caused the failures related to this mission, While
better policy coordination from the Secretary of Defense down to TFR [Task Force Ranger] could
have prevented the 3 October 1993 raid from occurring, TFR did have all the means in Mogadishu to
successfully accomplish the mission. However, overconfidence in TFR s capabilities and
underestimation of the enemy s ability to find and attack TFR vulnerabilities were critical failures that
led to a series of other failures (Sangvic, 1998). I believe lack of knowledge, inexperience, and a
technology gap were the causes of the aforementioned planning issues. Effects of the ill decision
making were enormous. The hanger received indirect fire from the enemy resulting in the wounding of
several helicopter crew chiefs. Soldiers met confusion when navigating the rules of engagement

Analysis Of The Film Black Robe
In the 1991 film Black Robe, which is set during the 1630s Beaver War in North America, the French
make attempts to search for and continue to convert a Huron Indian tribe to Christianity. To complete
this mission, the founder of the French settlement in Quebec, Samuel Champlain, sends a Jesuit priest,
Father LaForgue, off to find the Indian tribe, and a man named Daniel and a family of Indians, who
are a part of the Algonquin tribe, accompany Father LaForgue on this journey. Some historical events
that are mentioned in American Colonies by Alan Taylor that are dramatized by the film include the
relationship between the Jesuits and the Indians and the love story. While, to an extent, the
relationship between the two parties had many moments of accuracy, the film also made it seem like
no matter what the Jesuit priest always was only looking out for the Indian people in order to convert
them. The film ignores the side of the relationship where the French Jesuits primarily colonize the
Indians, which ultimately leads to the death of thousands of Indians. Also, the love story between
Daniel and Annuka who is the daughter of Chomina, who is accompanying the French on their
mission, was dramatized. Recognizing that this love story s purpose is to entertain the viewer, the way
the cultures collide is not as accurate as it could be. Overall, however, the film does deal with these
dramatizations in a responsible and fairly accurate way. In the film, the French perceive the

Staphylococcus Aureus ( Mrsa )
Background
Staphylococcus aureus is a gram positive, cluster forming bacterium which shows positive results in
catalase and nitrate reduction tests. It is considered as a harmful pathogen for human and animal
beings and has resistance to many classes of antimicrobial agents. The most important example is
methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the first clinical isolate, reported at the end of
1960, within a year after the introduction of methicillin (Jevons et al., 1963). Afterwards, it has been
frequently disseminated throughout the world and reported serious hospital associated infections in
1970s.Several MRSA clones have emerged in past four decades, but major hospital acquired MRSA
(HA MRSA)clones identified in five accepted clonal lineages by population genetic studies.
Genotypes within these lineages have developed resistance to all known antibiotics. Besides, some
significant risk factors, like surgery, recent hospitalization and antimicrobial treatment have potential
roles in HA MRSA infection in patients.
While MRSA primarily confined to hospitals and patients along with defined risk factors, reports on
community associated MRSA (CA MRSA) in patients began to publish in early 2000s (Zetola et al.,
2005). CA MRSA isolates identified as a rapidly emerging pathogen and frequently occurred in
previously healthy individuals without the risk factors for HA MRSA. CA MRSA isolates are much
more virulent than HA MRSA that cause rapid tissue necrosis and

15th And 16th Century American Exploration Essay
The major motive behind 15th and 16th century exploration was trade, European countries craved
easy access to African and Asian goods silk, dyes, perfumes, jewels, sugar, gold, and especially spices
(12). Europeans wanted to develop a transoceanic trade route to can better more direct access to
African and Asian goods. Spices were incredibly desirable and exotic in Europe at the time and so
very valuable. Spreading Christianity was a secondary motive for many explorations. Explorers and
colonizers hoped that converting non Christians would help further, increase their nation s wealth via
direct trade with Africa, China, India, and the Moluccas (12).

segregation was wrong, many southern states continued to practice racial segregation. Racial

The Persecution And Assassination Of Jean Paul Marat
In The Persecution and Assassination of Jean Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum
of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis De Sade, Peter Weiss placed a historic revolutionary
setting inside of a chaotic insane asylum. Sex and violence dominate revolution, madness blends with
reason, and political ideologies battle head to head while the plot unfolds. Marat/Sade focuses on a
play authored by the Marquis de Sade inside of the play itself. Weiss, writing in the voice of Sade,
could not ignore the sexual perversions of the historical figure, which allowed for the shocking
violence and sexualization that can be found within the play. Under the inflated political rhetoric
among the two leading ideologists, Jean Paul Marat and the Marquis de Sade, the story is one about
the French Revolution. Specifically, Marat/Sade tells the story of the murder of Marat by Charlotte
Corday.
Sade s characterization of Corday as the sexualized female begins with the Herald s introduction of
her. His description predominately includes her physical features. Her phenomenally pulchritudinous
appearance includes stylish shoes and a cloth around her neck. Only a thin veil covers her otherwise
exposed breasts. These images appear in the first introduction of Corday and create conflict for the
woman portraying her, as well as affect Sade s character of Corday in her carrying out of the plot to
kill Marat. However, the effect on the latter is not a negative one. The sexual

Reflective Journal Number Two Essay
Reflective Journal Number Two
I am going to look back at a situation on my unit in the operating room (OR) where I implemented a
change using some of the distinguishing characteristics authentic leaders posses according to Maria
Shirey in 2006. I have worked in the OR for 13 years and have witnessed many changes take place,
both good and bad. Our situation was unique because staffing coverage must be 24 hours due to our
level 1 trauma status. The RN s brought forward the current system used for scheduling during
holidays was unfair with no apparent pattern. It was very random with many of the same RN s
working the majority of the holidays. Nurses comments ranged from, Why am I always on the major
holidays, I never get to spend the holidays with my family, and the same people are getting the
holidays off, why is that? Management overlooked the fairness for covering the schedule. Holiday
coverage is reduced to two teams and a charge nurse which consists of five staff members, allowing
more staff to be off. Everything was status quo to management until it was mentioned at a staff
meeting with much dissatisfaction.
I was asked by my manager to lead a committee of RN s. She chose the staff to participate on this
committee. The goal was to propose a new system for holiday scheduling that was fair and systematic.
My leader was empowering her staff to make positive changes; she was encouraging creativity by
motivating her followers (Grossman Valiga, 2013).

Othello and Frankenstein Essay
From Man to Monster When monsters are thought of a very distinct picture comes to mind. An ugly
creature that is out for blood, born into a life where causing misery is his driving force. Do these
features really define what a monster is; works of literature like Mary Shelley s Frankenstein and
Shakespeare s Othello tell quite a different story. Monsters are not born but made just as people are
not born evil but can sometimes end up there. Othello and the Monster start of as good men looking to
be part of society but were pushed out because of what others perceived them to be. This caused them
to mentally and physically isolate themselves from everyone allowing hatred to take over. Iago and
Frankenstein also helped to instill thoughts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Othello is being manipulated he finds it hard to be around any one causing him to separate
himself from his loved ones and colleagues. When asking to speak with Desdemona to question her on
her infidelity he tells her, Get you to bed on th instant. I will be returned/ forth with. Dismiss your
attendant there. Look t be/ done. (Shakespeare IV, iii, 7 9). He is uncomfortable talking to her in the
presence of Emilia, almost like an outsider being involved would confuse him further. His separation
from all other characters other than Iago keeps him from knowing the truth. This causes his mind to
run wild and come up with reasons that justify him in his monstrous actions that have become more
frequent. However, in comparison the Monsters physical isolation causes him to mentally isolate
himself. After being abandon by Frankenstein the Monster is forced to live on his own in the woods.
Realizing that human kind will never truly accept him he asks Victor to create him a mate stating, I am
alone and miserable man will not associate with me (Shelley, 118). When Victor ultimately denies the
Monster of companionship he becomes enraged again continuing to lose his faith in mankind. The
Monsters physical segregation fuels his mental isolation whole Othello s mental isolation fuels his
physical segregation. Othello and the Monster are also mentally isolated in very different ways.
Othello s mental isolation is driven by Iago s manipulation.

Heating For Heating Building Or House
Many technologies are available for heating building or house. Boilers are pressure vessels intended to
heat water or deliver steam which can then be used to give space heating and additionally benefit
water heating to a building. In most business building heating applications, the heating source in the
boiler is a natural gas fired burner. Oil fired burners and electric resistance radiators can be used too.
Steam is favored over heated water in a few applications, counting absorption cooling, kitchens,
laundries, sterilizers, and steam driven hardware. Boilers have a few qualities that have made them a
typical component of buildings. They have a long life, can accomplish efficiencies up to 95% or more,
give a powerful strategy for heating a building and on account of steam systems, require little or no
pumping energy. Otherwise, fuel costs can be significant, regular maintenance is required, and if
support is deferred, repair can be exorbitant. Boilers are regularly one of the biggest energy users in a
building. For consistently a boiler system goes unattended, boiler expenses can increase around 10%.
Boiler operation and maintenance are in this way a decent place to begin when searching for
approaches to reduce energy use and save money.
1.1 How boilers work Both gas and oil fired boilers use controlled burning of the fuel to heat water.

Fahrenheit 451 Critical Essay
Human beings are naturally curious. We are always in search of better ideas, and new solutions to
problems. One of a basic idea of Indonesia has been freedom of thinking and a free flow of ideas. But
in some societies, governments try to keep their people ignorant. Usually, this is so governments can
keep people under control and hold on to their power. In trying to keep people from the realities of the
world, these oppressive governments can end up damaging or even destroying their society.
The protagonist of Fahrenheit 451 is Guy Montag, who has spent his life in a state of ignorance, like

In the end, Montag and other exiles watch as the government destroys his city and others. They
become determined to rebuild their society, passing down wisdom to future generation. We learn this
when Montag and exile leader Granger are talking about the legend of the Phoenix, how the bird burns
everything but then it comes back. Except he realizes that they can be different from the Phoenix.
They can come back, but they can remember the mistakes that were made so they don t repeat them.
They won t remake society as it was they will make something new, where people can share ideas and
read books.
...It looks like we re doing the same thing over and over but we ve got one damn thing the phoenix

the goddamn funeral pyres and jumping in the middle. We pick up a few more people that remember
every generation (Bradbury 25).
In reading Fahrenheit 451, we have learned there is a proper time to challenge the system.
Complacency and fear can lead to evil taking over. Ray Bradbury takes Montag through many
obstacles, some of which he brings on himself and others brought on by ineffectively doing nothing.
In this world, it is hard to get truth to reveal itself.
Montag is put in the position of verifying and searching for truth in the laws and following what his
heart is leading him to do. People all have a zeal and passion for life in some form or another. In our

Loris Malaguzzi s Impact On Education
Loris Malaguzzi was one of the greatest pioneers in the educational field. Born in Correggio, Italy in
the year 1920, he grew up in Fascist, Italy going through the six years of war that devoured his youth
as is described in the scholastic website (Pioneers in Our Field, 2001). Malaguzzi decided to become
an educator through his father s encouragement, and so he enrolled in a training course for future
educators in 1939 and was able to complete it during the war. Malaguzzi graduated from Pedagogy to

Each individual has an image of the child that directs on how they can relate through their own

that depend on your views of the child. This will orient someone as they talk to the child, listen to
them, and in their observation. It will become very difficult for a person to behave on contrary to their
behavior. An example of such behavior would be say that one is solely convinced that boys and girls
are different, chances are that this method of thinking will influence one to treat and behave
differently between the boys and girls (Malaguzzi, 1994). In other words, it is possible that he is
stating that one should not immediately conclude on who the child is before even getting to know
them. The vision of Reggio Emilia schools is always changing, but its goal is always the same. The
scholastic website states that the continuous of the philosophy can best be described in Malaguzzi s
words: What children learn does not follow as an automatic result from what is taught. Rather, it is in
large part due to the children s own doing as a consequence of their activities and our resources

Figurative Language In The Hunted Oak And The Lynching
The poems by Paul Dunbar and Claude McKay both use figurative language in the poems the The
Hunted Oak and The Lynching . The ways that they talk about it are completely different and invoke
different feeling out of you as both writers wanted to talk about an important issue. The hunted oak
was written in 1913 and The Lynching was written in 1920 so this tells us that it was a prominent
issue at the time. Each author used different literary devices to convey their feelings and to express
themselves. Their perception of terror is the same for both but how the convey it is different. The
poems are meant to have a sense of terror and fright.
The genre of the poem The Hunted Oak is drama because the author let s all the characters speak
throughout the poem. The subject of this poem is that there is a lynching going on and the tree is
affected by the actions. The theme of this poem is that terror but not to a person but to thing. There
was a lot of forms of diction in this poem. For example, there was connotation when he said And why,
when I go through the shade you throw runs a shudder over me (Dunbar). That line also gave the
reader imagery by using the word shudder, a person can physically see someone physically
shuddering. The tone of this poem was a somber one. It just gives the reading bad feeling for the tree
at the end of the poem.
This poem is unique because it is told from the tree s perspective. Dunbar gave the tree feelings, this
can be seen here I feel the rope against my bark against my bark . The theme of the poem is terror
because the tree has conveyed emotions that make it seems that he was emotionally scarred by this
event. This can be seen in the line For I feel his curse as a haunted bough on the trunk of a haunted
tree . Also, the way that the tree describes the event as a whole brings a sense of terror. For example,
in the line I feel in the throne of his final woe the touch of my own pain. This not say that the victim
who is being lynched is taking his last breath so does the tree. This also can be perceived that the tree
and the victim are interconnected, as their souls both leave the earth at the same time. Animist may
believe that the line is of terror because the lynches

Drosophila Melanogaster
Drosophila melanogaster Sex linkage and inheritance of genes through cross breeding
Abstract
This experiment looks at the relationship between genes, generations of a population and if genes are
carried from one generation to another. By studying Drosophila melanogaster, starting with a parent
group we crossed a variety of flies and observe the characteristics of the F1 generation. We then
concluded that sex linked genes and autosomal genes could indeed be traced through from the parent
generation to the F1 generation.
Introduction
Sex linkage and inherited genes allow us to predict and understand how and why certain animals and
plants inherit features from their parents while some don t. Sex linkage is the condition in which a ...

Care was taken to not let the immobilised Drosophila drown in the white media until they were flying
again.
The vial was then labeled accordingly with the type of cross (Male Vg, Female W) and the date. The
date is important as the Drosophila complete a life cycle within approximately 2 weeks from the
mating day. This vial became known as the parent generation or (P).
The vial was then kept in a moderate temperature out of the sun and by the end of the first week the
parent generation had laid eggs, hatched and the next generation were between the larva stage and the
pupa stage. At this point, the parent generations was no longer required and were decanted out into
ethyl alcohol, killed and disposed of. They did not need to be scored (inspected) as we already knew
what they were.
We then kept the vial with the juvenile Drosophila for another 2 weeks in the same conditions as
above and found that the F1 generation had hatched and laid eggs of their own. We then decanted the
F1 generation into alcohol to kill them and kept them aside to score. The vial containing the new
generation F2 of Drosophila was then kept for use in a further experiment.
The F1 generation that we had just decanted was then moved to a dissecting microscope for scoring,
this generation included 20 Drosophila flies that we could then inspect for different traits using the

Literary Analysis of A Worn Path A Worn Path by Eudora Welty is one of the best short stories to
illustrate the topic of symbolism. It provides wonderful examples of symbolic representations. The
journey of one old black woman provides enough realism to portray the backdrop of poor black
people in the rural south after the Civil War. The words of the story tell only of a woman s lonely
journey to the town of Natchez, Mississippi for medicine. However, the underlying sense of the
woman s responsibility to a sick grandson gives way to the major prejudices forced upon her. While
the tone of tone of the story is simple, its message is quite powerful. The obstacles that the old woman
must overcome provide a symbolic backdrop of determination and the will to live. The Britannica

Homelessness And The Streets Of New Haven
The problem of homelessness in New Haven has left many children wandering around the street. Over
the past few years, a significant number of children have been spotted in the streets and this has
resulted in increased crime cases. Most of these children are students as the school districts have
identified quite a number of homeless students in Connecticut. Apart from the problem of
homelessness, dropping out of schools is also a leading cause of increased number of children in New
Haven s streets. This paper provides in depth discussion on the number of children in the streets of
New Haven, and also some of the proposed programs meant to keep these children off the streets.
The Population of Children in the Streets of New Haven
Notably, increased number of children in the streets of New Haven is as a result of the problem of
homelessness in Connecticut and also increase in the number of children dropping out of school.
About a third of homeless children spotted in Connecticut are from New Britain and New Haven with
approximately three hundred and twenty seven coming from New Haven. Notably, the number of
street children in New Haven has decreased following the fact that the school district heightened its
efforts to identify the problem and address the issue this issue accordingly. Some school districts play
a significant role in ensuring that homeless children are catered for and their needs met. However,
there are some school districts that are reluctant to help as they

Analysis Of The Poem The Stranger
In many works of literature, poetry and art, the sun is used to represent life, divine beauty and
strength. In the poem Ah! Sunflower by William Blake for example, the sun represents joy and life. In
the novel The Stranger, the author Albert Camus uses the sun in the opposite manner, making it serve
as a negative motif throughout the novel. Conversely, Camus uses the sea as a motif to represent the
positive and pleasurable feelings that Meursault actually wants to feel. The motifs of the sun and sea
serves as representations of Meursault s absurdist behaviors. Absurdism is the idea that humanity must
live in a world that is and will forever be hostile or indifferent towards them. The universe will never
truly care for humanity the way we seem to want it to (Cite). The physical world in general contributes
to Meursault s characterization. When he should be experiencing a rational feeling or emotion,
Meursault becomes aware of the physical world around him. His awareness of the physical world
becomes intense in times of negative events or pleasurable ones. Camus uses simple and short
sentences to describe the natural world. This emphasizes the simplicity of nature, along with the
simplicity of Meursault s character, which demonstrates how close his relationship with nature is.
Meursault s sensitivity to nature contributes to why he can relate to it easier that he can to humans or
society. He feels as if he can connect with it more. The sun and sea serve as tools for

The Importance Of Freedom Of Speech And Religion In Public...
In the Department of Education s guidelines, it states that students can express their religious beliefs in
their assignments including homework, written work, artwork, and oral assignments free from
discrimination by classmates or teachers (Constitutionally Protected Prayer, 2005). Assignments
cannot be marked down due to religious content and must be judged by ordinary academic standards if
the student has complied to the assignment guidelines. Public schools must follow constitutional law
regarding freedom of speech and religion considering student work and students must understand they
are under certain limitations when it comes to expressing themselves in the classroom.
Procedures from the U.S. department of Education constitutionally protecting prayer and beliefs in
public k 12 schools are mandatory. In the early 2000 s, a school in New York was subject to
discrimination because a kindergarten student completed a poster project that was censored by the
teacher for religious themes. The family claimed it was a violation of the establishment clause, and
freedom of speech by inhibiting the religious expression of the poster. The teacher claimed to have
instructed the students to create a poster project based on the information covered in the class, though
the parents were not informed of this. Therefore, this was not a justified claim to inhibition of
religious freedom or freedom of speech. The project should not have included any religious themes

Compassion Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology Nurses Essay
Pediatric oncology nurses are given the unique opportunity to make connections and build long term
relationship with their patients and families. Standard treatment protocol for many childhood cancers
span over the course of years, with long term surveillance and follow up visits after treatment has
finished. Due to their patient s chronic diagnoses and the acuity of their conditions, pediatric oncology
nurses work in an environment of increased stress. The high stress environment puts the nurses at an
increased risk for compassion fatigue; so it is the responsibility of both the nurse, and the institution to
be aware of the symptoms and to effectively manage the condition should it arise. Without proper
attention to the stress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nurses also provide end of life, and post mortem care. When a patient dies, the nurse often grieves
alongside the family and helps to provide them with emotional support (Hecktman, 2012). Although
the prognoses of childhood cancer have improved drastically over the last 30 years, many children still
succumb to the disease. Nurses are the ones who provide constant bedside care, and often must
confront the limits of what medicine can do for people (Schuster, 2013). This can prove to be difficult
and bring on feelings of hopelessness and as though they are not helping their patients at all. Patients
can leave lasting impacts on the nursing staff, and when multiple children die while in their care, the
nurse may begin to experience cumulative loss. Childhood cancer is the leading cause of non
accidental death for children in Canada, and therefore, pediatric oncology nurses are often exposed to
death on a routine basis, with little time to grieve between the deaths. It is imperative that nurses are
aware of their stressors and how they respond to stress in order to effectively care for their patients.
Patient care may be at risk if a nurse is experiencing compassion fatigue. Nurses can start to exhibit
distancing or desensitizing behaviors in order to cope with their stressors; thus leading to a decreased
satisfaction in patient care and an ineffective therapeutic relationship. The failure of the nurse to
identify their stress, can

Metaphors and Repetition in Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
In Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, the speaker is a son talking to his aging
father and pleading with him to fight against death. The son knows that death is the inevitable end to
every life, but feels one should not give up to death too easily. By using metaphor, imagery, and
repetition, Thomas reinforces the son s message that aging men see their lives with sudden clarity and

Wise men know that death is appropriate, but they do not embrace it. These wise men fight death
because they feel their words have not been adequate enough to touch or illuminate others. The son
creates a visual image of the inadequacy wise men feel upon realizing their words have not
enlightened others their words had forked no lightning. The son also mentions good men who do not
die peacefully. These men despair that their feeble deeds did not accomplish enough. Even though
they were good men, they feel they could have done so much more if given the time.
The son next tells his father how wild and grave men also struggled with death. Wild men spent their
lives frivolously, wishing time on its way. They learn when it is too late that they hurried time too fast
and now they cannot recapture what they so wantonly spent. Their lives were foolishly wasted. The
son also mentions grave or serious men who review their lives with a swift lucidity when death is
upon them. These solemn, sober men now realize life could have been more joyous had they been a
little more blind. If life is taken a little less seriously, one could blaze like meteors and be gay.
Repetition at the end of each stanza is effectively used to reinforce the message to fight back against
death. The son implores his father to hang on any way he can and begs him to use joy or tears or anger
to remain in this life. Other men, be they wise or frivolous, serious or

My Barroom Observation
In lieu of having the opportunity to measure a tall object, I decided that it would be interesting to
know the height of my barn because it was never identified. There are few steps to finding how tall an
item is, however, it is quite difficult to be completely accurate with the objects that I utilized. First, I
needed to build a clinometer with a straw, protractor, and string, which was used to find the angle of
elevation. The angle of elevation is the angle formed by a horizontal line and a line of sight to a point
above the line (Rehill), and in this specific scenario, the point is the top of the barn. Furthermore, I
then measured the distance from the barn to where I was standing and looked, through the straw, to the
top of it. I had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the answers that I got are reasonable because they do not seem too small and they are quite
average for an one and a half story building. Nevertheless, the height of the barn might be inaccurate
because errors could have a drastic impact on the final answer. To illustrate, the measurements are the
basis for the whole entire problem by reason that trigonometric ratios place primary importance on
them, so, therefore, if they are incorrect, then all of the resulting numbers will be wrong. I struggled
with obtaining the appropriate angle measurements because I had problems with pinching the string at
the correct place and viewing the necessary spot through the straw. Also, if the calculations were
amiss, then it would produce false numbers, which causes the final answer to be off due to the
legitimate figures not being incorporated. I had a problem with this also as I did not set up the correct
equations at first, which would give me faulty calculations and, consequently, mess up my final
answer. However, I quickly figured out that my equations were incorrect, so, therefore, I did not
experience any problems attributed to that exact reason. Another problem that I faced was with
building the clinometer itself due to the protractor being attached to a geometric template and not
aligning the straw correctly, but I just used my protractor as there was no effect and I figured out how
the straw needed to be

Benefits Of The Great Wall Of China
The Great Wall of China is the world s longest wall and biggest ancient architecture. The Great Wall
was finished/opened in 206 BC which meant that the Great Wall took approximately 20 years to
build.. There are several reasons why the benefits outweighed the costs, such as, the Great Wall
protected China, there would be no more Xiongnu invasions, and the Great Wall follows the famed
Silk Road. So, the benefits outweighed the costs in my opinion. To start, the Great Wall protected
China. This meant that there would be no more Xiongnu invasions. The Xiongnu were a fierce and
threatening group of nomads. Also, this means that there would be no other invasions from any other
group or tribe. The Great Wall would prevent anything else than invasions.

Betty Ozborn Essay
Fetty Ozborn Once upon a time there was a kid name Fetty, Fetty Osborn he was the son of Merlin
Osborn. Fetty was a young boy, 7 years old to be exact. He loved to paint, draw, sing opera and sword
fight against his teddy bear. His dad, Merlin, was always kind of embarrassed of Fetty. He wished he
was a little more, TOUGH and ROUGH. One day Merlin was on and adventure to slay a dragon to
save the lost princess of the land. He lost. He lost to the dragon. He lost his sword. He lost his life.
Fetty was at home having a orange juice party with his stuffed animals. The messenger bird appeared
on a window with a note attached to his foot. Fetty took a sip of OJ and walked to the window. The
message said YOUR DADDY IS DRAGON DINNER! Once Fetty read the news he threw the closest
thing to him which wasn t his stuffed animal. It was his sword. The sword his dad had given him on
his first birthday. He took another sip of OJ and started to cry. Big fat tears rolled down his cheeks.
Fetty made a vow to all of the stuffed animals at his OJ party that he would slay the dragon that killed
his father and ate him for dinner. Fetty trained day and night for seven years to fight the dragon. He

himself to death. Fetty Osborn had his first kill. He opened up his snack pack, drank a little water,
enjoyed some peanuts, and felt so awesome after his slaying. As he took his last bite of his peanuts, he
took his teddy bear, Jeff. Held him over the cliff thinking to himself, Teddy bears are for the weak. I

The Importance Of Elementary Writing
Writing in a horizontal line is essential for students in the elementary setting. Writing first begins in
preschool, within the following year student s knowledge of words increases greatly. A student s
writing and reading skills only continue to grow as he/she reaches middle and high school. Students
use writing in a variety of different ways especially in the elementary setting. Writing may be used to
describe a picture, how the student is feeling, to share information and more. It is essential that
students are given the opportunity to demonstrate strong writing skills throughout elementary school.
Although writing is essential in the development of students, many students lack the foundational
writing skills needed to be effective. Only 25% of students in the National Assessment of Educational
Progress were classified as competent writers (Persky, Daane, Jin, 2003).
The purpose of this study is to assist the student (Jaden) with writing in a horizontal line across the
page when forming sentences. Jaden can write complete sentences without the assistance of teachers,
but his sentences are never in order. Jaden tends to write words within the sentence anywhere when
provided with a sheet of paper. Being able to form sentences correctly across the page is important for
the student to understand what he is writing. When asked to read back what he wrote, the student is
often unable because of his inability to form sentences correctly across the page. The task is when

Raisin In The Sun Light
Hope is essential; it is what drives the soul to persevere through the inevitable struggles in life until it
reaches its dream. In the drama, A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, hope plays a major role
in the lives of the Youngers, a poor African American family living in Southside of Chicago during the
1950 s. Throughout the play, Lorraine Hansberry uses light to symbolize the Younger family s ever
changing hope of achieving their dreams. Symbolism underlines a subtle point, foreshadows, and adds
meaning to the text. The use of symbols gives an idea or object, in this case the light, a representation
beyond it s literal meaning. In the drama, A Raisin In The Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, the light is a
symbol that changes throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The changing light symbolizes the Youngers hope of achieving their dreams, which changes as they

achieve one s dream even against incessant difficulties. In the end, the Younger family learned that
one must simply maintain hope and keep working to overcome the inevitable obstacles in life.
Everyone at some point has experienced something that has held them back from reaching their goal,
but hope must never be lost, because hope is what drives one to keep pursuing a dream against the

Descriptive Essay About The Galapagos
It was a seven hour flight to get from New York City to Guayaquil, Ecuador. After going through
customs I was finally greeted by my colleague, whom I would be working on this research with. Our
flight to the Galapagos was not until the next day so we decided to rent a car to take a small trip to a
different island, off the coast of Ecuador.
Before setting off on our journey I took my colleague to Parque de Iguanas. This is a very common
tourist attraction because of how up close and personal you can be with iguanas that live in there. The
iguanas can be found relaxing on the stone pathway or the grass, but most are found on the trees.
Although they are extremely fascinating animals, they are not the focus of our expedition. After our ...

The airport was small and held the necessary amenities needed for air travel. The island s human
population is about 6,000 making it the second most populated island of the archipelago. The
temperature was around the high seventies and there was a constant fresh breeze from the ocean. The
area was filled with tourists, giving the island an atmosphere of a resort or vacation spot rather than a
site that influenced Darwin s theory of natural selection.
However, what made San Cristobal a critical aspect of our expedition was that it was home to
Frigatebird Hill. We took the tourist trail from the city center to Frigatebird Hill. We passed many
homes, tourist attractions, and hotels. Once at the hill we observed the difference between the
Magnificent Frigatebird and the Great Frigatebird. The male Great Frigatebird has green iridescent
scapular feathers while the Magnificent Frigatebird has purple iridescent scapular feathers. The female
Great Frigatebird has a red eye ring and a white throat and breast, while the Magnificent Frigatebird
has a blue eye ring, black throat and a white breast.
The Magnificent Frigate bird forge for food closer to the island. They roamed the skies preparing for
the prime opportunity to pluck out fish or squid from the water. Yet, they also obtained their food by
stealing it from other bird including their own kind! A blue footed booby returned from the sea to feed
its young. While regurgitating the for the young blue footed

Theodore Roosevelt Essay
Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt was a strong leader and ruled with an iron fist as a president. He conquered the
frontier and went on to conquer other countries as well. Roosevelt was a born leader. During his
childhood he overcame his sickness by exercising and participating in outdoor activities. After
Theodore graduated from Harvard he went straight into politics. He began his career as the president
of the New York Board of Police Commissioners. Later Roosevelt continued his career as an assistant
secretary of the navy in Washington. He then became a Rough Rider during the Spanish American
War. Roosevelt then returned home and became the Governor of New York and Vice President of the
United States in 1900. In 1901 he became ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also wanted to require American military around the world. Roosevelt also thought that the
Protestants Anglo American culture should be spread to other countries.
Speak softly and carry a big stick, you will go far #. This is how Theodore Roosevelt summed up his
views. Roosevelt wanted to build a canal across the Isthmus of Panama. His attempt to lease the
ground was unsuccessful though so he created a new strategy. Roosevelt wanted to take over Panama.
For only ten million dollars, it happened, on November 3, 1903. The canal gave the United States a
huge commercial and strategic advantage. Though this was a good effect for the United States, there
still was a negative effect. The newly exposed areas needed to be policed. Proper policing of the world
# was called for by Roosevelt. His main concern was that Europe might try to take it if the United
States did not. To stop this proclaimed which came to be known as the Roosevelt Corollary to the
Monroe Doctrine. Chronic wrongdoing, or an importance which results in a general loosening of the
ties of civilized society, the exercise of an international police power # is what the Document said.
This was also used to justify armed intervention in the internal affairs of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and
Mexico.
Theodore was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906. This is because he mediated a settlement of the
Russia Japanese War at Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1905. In 1908 Roosevelt sent battleships to

The Murder Night Of Nicole Brown Simpson And Ron Goldman
On the murder night of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, was a massive outburst on the
media. As stated (Turvey December 1995) both bodies were found at 12:10Am, June 13 1994 inside
of Nicole s house located at 875 South Bundy reported by witnesses seeing a river of blood. As we get
closer to the murder care of both Nicole and Ron many unanswered question starts to pile up, from
who could had possibly had done this to why they ever did this. Both bodies had severe wounds, as
stated by Adelson [1] and DeMaio [2] (Cause, Mechanism Manner of Death), having Nicole with a
total of 12 deeply wounds, as explained: # defense wounds, 1 blunt force injury to the head, 1 fatal

What had everyone ticked, was the rest of the evidence found, as mentioned, the bloody gloves, one
was found on the murder scene, and a second matching was found behind Simpsons guest house. Both
gloves were tested for DNA results and containing Simpsons and both victims, but as results came in
the defense was not convinced, but could have been framed by Detective Mark Fuhrman, a racist cop
with what could have been a grudge against Simpson. A second item was found, a sock as stated from
the article (O.J Simpson civil trial, 10/18/96), they found DNA genetically marking Simpson and ex
wife s. But as defense spoke, they were not convinced for the fact that t could have been framed, just
like the bronco with a blood stain. The bronco was vied by numerous unauthorized people and could
have stained the carpet. Studies say, when the vehicle was first seen, there was no blood stains until
after. Same goes for the sock, as mentioned (William C. Thompson, professor, Department of
Criminology, law society, university of California, Irvine, California) received Simpsons reference
tube. Oddly given information from the tube, there had seem to had been missing a percentage of the
blood, tube containing between 7.9 and 8.1 ml, when the LAPD laboratory received, it had been
dawned up to eight milliliters (ml), containing 6.1ml inside the tube. When the sock was being tested

Two Accounts for the Moral Wrongness of Torture
Torture is morally wrong because it can affect an individual physically, socially and psychologically.
This essay will address the physical affects and psychological affects towards people. Torture is
unacceptable because is damages a person s humanity, values, respect and reputation of the moral
authorities. This essay will discuss two accounts for the moral wrongness of torture and they have
been discovered by William Twining s and from his research he noted torture to be morally wrong
since the rights of the victim is violated, secondly David Sussman who believes torture is morally
wrong because the victim is turned against the victim herself. Torture includes forcing the victim to
1)perform sexual activities, or pose in a sexual manner , 2)beatings and burns 3) placing hoods over
the head and covering the eyes by using duct tape 4)and waterboarding. Waterboarding is the most
commonly used for torture in nowadays, this method involves placing a cloth over the victims face
and causes the victim to experience the sensation of drowning. Torture may affect someone s life
socially because the individual shall find it hard to make friends, difficult to adapt to a new culture and
they will feel uncertain and lost about the future (Gerrity et al 2001). Unfortunately torture will also
make the victim feel guilty and ashamed about themselves because of the humiliation they have
experienced. Lastly, the psychological symptoms impact the victim which includes anxiety, mood

Reel Injun Stereotypes
Reel Injun and Misrepresentation and Native Stereotyping on Screen
Misrepresentation of Natives on screen throughout the 20th century has had an adverse effect on them.
Whether it was positive or negative stereotypes, Natives felt the effect of Hollywood and began to lose
their self identity, their honour, and their pride. Reel Injun takes a look at how movies have defined an
entire race and also documents the rebirth of the Native identity after decades of destructive
Hollywood movies by interviewing notable Native actors, actresses, and activists. By doing so,
director Neil Diamond hopes to silence Hollywood stereotypes and get Hollywood to properly
represent the Native people.
Hollywood s early depictions of Natives consisted of tribesmen and noble savages who are in tune
with Nature. Films such as The Silent Enemy portray these stereotypes on screen with actors like
Chief Buffalo Child Long Lance being shown as tribesmen who are very noble Natives. Although
these stereotypes are positive, they are still stereotypes nonetheless. These stereotypes have caused ...

Stagecoach a movie that is widely accepted as the most damaging movie for the Native identity helped
to illustrate this image to viewers at the time. As a result, many Americans believed Natives were all

of America as a result. Stagecoach also shows Natives being hunted like animals, which sends the
image of them being non human and thus they should be treated as such. Stagecoach and movies like
it mispresented Natives for decades and caused a loss of identity amongst the Native community
because Natives were dressed the same throughout various films. It was not until the 1970s and 1980s
where Natives were properly represented on

  • 2. Hurricane Research Paper The hurricane began as a tropical wave a westbound low pressure area first observed southeast of Cape Verde on 29 August.[1] Traversing the tropical Atlantic, the wave retained a minimum barometric pressure of about 1010 mbar (hPa; 29.83 inHg) and strengthened briefly the following day. [2][3] By 1 September, however, the wave had become rather weak and indiscernible; it would remain as such for much of its early existence till 6 September, by which time it had moved past the Windward Islands. In this region the system became sufficiently organised to be classified as a tropical depression at 18:00 UTC that same day, about north north west of Grenada.[4][5] Some six hours after its inception the depression strengthened to a tropical storm over the ... At 00:00 UTC on 10 September, the cyclone intensified into a Category 2 hurricane. The storm strengthened further before reaching its peak intensity with as a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 135 mph (215 km/h) at 1800 UTC.[5] The strong hurricane made landfall on Belize City at the same intensity two hours later. A barometer in the city recorded a minimum pressure of 952 mbar (hPa; 28.12 mbar); this was the lowest barometric pressure measured in association with the storm.[2] The hurricane substantially weakened over the Yucatán Peninsula, and had weakened to tropical storm strength by the time it had entered the Bay of Campeche. Despite moving back over water, the tropical cyclone continued to weaken in the bay,[5] and made its final landfall roughly 60 70 mi (95 110 km) north of Tampico, Mexico, with winds of 40 mph (65 km/h) at around 00:00 UTC on 13 September.[2] Over the mountainous terrain of Mexico, the storm quickly weakened, and dissipated later on 13 ... If your bag [got] on the track, your bag [was] in pieces.2 In November 1989 ground was broken to build the Denver International Airport (DIA). Located 25 miles from downtown Denver, Colorado, it was the first major airport to be built in the United States since the opening of the Dallas Fort Worth Airport in 1974. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its operational capacity was severely limited by runway layout; Stapleton had two parallel north south runways and two additional parallel east west runways that accommodated only commuter air carriers. Denver s economy grew and expanded greatly in the early 1980s, consequent to booms in the oil, real estate, and tourism industries. An aging and saturated Stapleton Airport was increasingly seen as a liability that limited the attractiveness of the region to the many businesses that were flocking to it. Delays had become chronic. Neither the north south nor east west parallel runways had sufficient lateral separation to accommodate simultaneous parallel arrival streams during poor weather conditions when instrument flight rules were in effect. This lack of runway separation and the layout of Stapleton s taxiways tended to cause delays during high traffic periods, even when weather conditions were good. Denver s geographic location and the growing size of its population and commerce made it an attractive location for airline hubbing operations. At one point, Stapleton had housed four airline hubs, more than any other airport in the United States. In poor weather and during periods of hightraffic volume, however, its limitations disrupted connection schedules that were important to maintaining these operations. A local storm could easily congest air traffic across the entire United States.3 3According to James Barnes [1993], By 1994, Stapleton was one of the top five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Parrots taken from the wild aren t meant to be kept in cages. Birds that are born to caged birds are still only one or two generations from being tamed. They re not domesticated pets. The practices that are used to catch birds and bring them to your home are abusive and cruel too. Responsibility for a Parrot Parrots are a huge responsibility. They require even more care than other pets like cats and dogs. They are more complex creatures than dogs or cats too. Scientists have explained that parrots have the emotional maturity of 4 year old human children. They feel emotions and have emotional demands that people don t often understand. Since we humans don t understand their emotional needs, we re not able to meet them, which makes for parrots with emotional problems. Shipping and Treatment The wild bird trade is worth billions of dollars, and the people who poach birds from the wild don t do so humanely. Many birds are traumatized or killed during the process. They re ripped from their homes, mates and flock with little regard for their emotional well being. Birds fly together, share their homes and raise their young together. During the interview process, applicants are asked to recall incidents from previous jobs and describe how the situation was handled along with the consequences of the actions. JetBlue hired applicants who did not compromise on the safety of passengers such as a mechanic who did not certify an aircraft because it did not comply with safety standards. In pilot recruitment, pilots are required to be computer savvy, but they also need to fit the culture of the airline. We will examine them in greater detail below. As technology advances, more and more consumers are looking to the internet to make their purchasing decisions, including child care. In addition, to fully research options, consumers are looking for more robust, interactive websites. Therefore, some child care centers are offering virtual walkthrough s of their facility on their website. Conversely, if the nay sayers have their way and the U.S. again faces an economic downturn and jobs are lost, the decreasing market will increase competition among child care centers to attempt to maintain their market share. Some Montessori s participate in the state subsidy programs which assist low income families in paying for their child care. This expands their market and increases their market share, however to participate in these programs requires the center be susceptible to the frequent regulatory and governmental policy changes. This can place an exceptional burden on the child care providers to remain abreast of the requirements and meet them, despite the possibility of frequent changes. One other area of concern for local Montessori s and child care centers nationally is the fluctuations in societal concerns for the children enrolled. In the past twenty years public opinion, research, and scholarly recommendations have oscillated between enrollment results in lower development in the child, to enhanced development and everything in between. While public opinion certainly affects the industry, parents will still need child care, therefore this driving force has a rather weak influence on the industry. Industry ... After attending week 3 lecture, I am able to understand about this criteria that more the person remain in specific area or place, higher the chances of him to get exposure(time), it means if a person resides in a house after spraying of pesticides, he or she is more likely to inhale or having a direct skin contact and same phenomena is applicable on farmers working in fields except the fact that they are working in open environment while houses are closed spaces which are meant to be more dangerous as the chances of ventilation are comparative less than farms over here. Choice of dwelling in this environment is entirely based on the individual needs and also on their expectations. By this, I mean he used women as shields as he fired upon U.S. Forces, armed children, and deception methods such as pretending to be an innocent but in close proximity to the smoking gun (Tomasso, 5, 12). Safety has been an ongoing and seemingly uncontrollable opponent of the Army. Arguably, faulty Washington level coordination caused the failures related to this mission, While better policy coordination from the Secretary of Defense down to TFR [Task Force Ranger] could have prevented the 3 October 1993 raid from occurring, TFR did have all the means in Mogadishu to successfully accomplish the mission. However, overconfidence in TFR s capabilities and underestimation of the enemy s ability to find and attack TFR vulnerabilities were critical failures that led to a series of other failures (Sangvic, 1998). I believe lack of knowledge, inexperience, and a technology gap were the causes of the aforementioned planning issues. Effects of the ill decision making were enormous. • 14. Analysis Of The Film Black Robe In the 1991 film Black Robe, which is set during the 1630s Beaver War in North America, the French make attempts to search for and continue to convert a Huron Indian tribe to Christianity. To complete this mission, the founder of the French settlement in Quebec, Samuel Champlain, sends a Jesuit priest, Father LaForgue, off to find the Indian tribe, and a man named Daniel and a family of Indians, who are a part of the Algonquin tribe, accompany Father LaForgue on this journey. Some historical events that are mentioned in American Colonies by Alan Taylor that are dramatized by the film include the relationship between the Jesuits and the Indians and the love story. While, to an extent, the relationship between the two parties had many moments of accuracy, the film also made it seem like no matter what the Jesuit priest always was only looking out for the Indian people in order to convert them. The film ignores the side of the relationship where the French Jesuits primarily colonize the Indians, which ultimately leads to the death of thousands of Indians. Also, the love story between Daniel and Annuka who is the daughter of Chomina, who is accompanying the French on their mission, was dramatized. Recognizing that this love story s purpose is to entertain the viewer, the way the cultures collide is not as accurate as it could be. Overall, however, the film does deal with these dramatizations in a responsible and fairly accurate way. In the film, the French perceive the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is considered as a harmful pathogen for human and animal beings and has resistance to many classes of antimicrobial agents. The most important example is methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), the first clinical isolate, reported at the end of 1960, within a year after the introduction of methicillin (Jevons et al., 1963). Afterwards, it has been frequently disseminated throughout the world and reported serious hospital associated infections in 1970s.Several MRSA clones have emerged in past four decades, but major hospital acquired MRSA (HA MRSA)clones identified in five accepted clonal lineages by population genetic studies. Genotypes within these lineages have developed resistance to all known antibiotics. Besides, some significant risk factors, like surgery, recent hospitalization and antimicrobial treatment have potential roles in HA MRSA infection in patients. While MRSA primarily confined to hospitals and patients along with defined risk factors, reports on community associated MRSA (CA MRSA) in patients began to publish in early 2000s (Zetola et al., 2005). Sex and violence dominate revolution, madness blends with reason, and political ideologies battle head to head while the plot unfolds. Marat/Sade focuses on a play authored by the Marquis de Sade inside of the play itself. Weiss, writing in the voice of Sade, could not ignore the sexual perversions of the historical figure, which allowed for the shocking violence and sexualization that can be found within the play. Under the inflated political rhetoric among the two leading ideologists, Jean Paul Marat and the Marquis de Sade, the story is one about the French Revolution. Specifically, Marat/Sade tells the story of the murder of Marat by Charlotte Corday. Sade s characterization of Corday as the sexualized female begins with the Herald s introduction of her. His description predominately includes her physical features. Her phenomenally pulchritudinous appearance includes stylish shoes and a cloth around her neck. Only a thin veil covers her otherwise exposed breasts. Management overlooked the fairness for covering the schedule. Holiday coverage is reduced to two teams and a charge nurse which consists of five staff members, allowing more staff to be off. Everything was status quo to management until it was mentioned at a staff meeting with much dissatisfaction. I was asked by my manager to lead a committee of RN s. • 30. Figurative Language In The Hunted Oak And The Lynching The poems by Paul Dunbar and Claude McKay both use figurative language in the poems the The Hunted Oak and The Lynching . The ways that they talk about it are completely different and invoke different feeling out of you as both writers wanted to talk about an important issue. The hunted oak was written in 1913 and The Lynching was written in 1920 so this tells us that it was a prominent issue at the time. Each author used different literary devices to convey their feelings and to express themselves. Their perception of terror is the same for both but how the convey it is different. The poems are meant to have a sense of terror and fright. The genre of the poem The Hunted Oak is drama because the author let s all the characters speak throughout the poem. The subject of this poem is that there is a lynching going on and the tree is affected by the actions. The theme of this poem is that terror but not to a person but to thing. There was a lot of forms of diction in this poem. For example, there was connotation when he said And why, when I go through the shade you throw runs a shudder over me (Dunbar). That line also gave the reader imagery by using the word shudder, a person can physically see someone physically shuddering. The tone of this poem was a somber one. It just gives the reading bad feeling for the tree at the end of the poem. This poem is unique because it is told from the tree s perspective. Dunbar gave the tree feelings, this can be seen here I feel the rope against my bark against my bark . The theme of the poem is terror because the tree has conveyed emotions that make it seems that he was emotionally scarred by this event. This can be seen in the line For I feel his curse as a haunted bough on the trunk of a haunted tree . Also, the way that the tree describes the event as a whole brings a sense of terror. For example, in the line I feel in the throne of his final woe the touch of my own pain. This not say that the victim who is being lynched is taking his last breath so does the tree. This also can be perceived that the tree and the victim are interconnected, as their souls both leave the earth at the same time. While the tone of tone of the story is simple, its message is quite powerful. The obstacles that the old woman must overcome provide a symbolic backdrop of determination and the will to live. Over the past few years, a significant number of children have been spotted in the streets and this has resulted in increased crime cases. Most of these children are students as the school districts have identified quite a number of homeless students in Connecticut. Apart from the problem of homelessness, dropping out of schools is also a leading cause of increased number of children in New Haven s streets. This paper provides in depth discussion on the number of children in the streets of New Haven, and also some of the proposed programs meant to keep these children off the streets. The Population of Children in the Streets of New Haven Notably, increased number of children in the streets of New Haven is as a result of the problem of homelessness in Connecticut and also increase in the number of children dropping out of school. About a third of homeless children spotted in Connecticut are from New Britain and New Haven with approximately three hundred and twenty seven coming from New Haven. Notably, the number of street children in New Haven has decreased following the fact that the school district heightened its efforts to identify the problem and address the issue this issue accordingly. • 38. Analysis Of The Poem The Stranger In many works of literature, poetry and art, the sun is used to represent life, divine beauty and strength. In the poem Ah! Sunflower by William Blake for example, the sun represents joy and life. In the novel The Stranger, the author Albert Camus uses the sun in the opposite manner, making it serve as a negative motif throughout the novel. Conversely, Camus uses the sea as a motif to represent the positive and pleasurable feelings that Meursault actually wants to feel. The motifs of the sun and sea serves as representations of Meursault s absurdist behaviors. Absurdism is the idea that humanity must live in a world that is and will forever be hostile or indifferent towards them. The universe will never truly care for humanity the way we seem to want it to (Cite). The physical world in general contributes to Meursault s characterization. When he should be experiencing a rational feeling or emotion, Meursault becomes aware of the physical world around him. His awareness of the physical world becomes intense in times of negative events or pleasurable ones. Camus uses simple and short sentences to describe the natural world. This emphasizes the simplicity of nature, along with the simplicity of Meursault s character, which demonstrates how close his relationship with nature is. Meursault s sensitivity to nature contributes to why he can relate to it easier that he can to humans or society. He feels as if he can connect with it more. The sun and sea serve as tools for ... In the Department of Education s guidelines, it states that students can express their religious beliefs in their assignments including homework, written work, artwork, and oral assignments free from discrimination by classmates or teachers (Constitutionally Protected Prayer, 2005). Assignments cannot be marked down due to religious content and must be judged by ordinary academic standards if the student has complied to the assignment guidelines. Public schools must follow constitutional law regarding freedom of speech and religion considering student work and students must understand they are under certain limitations when it comes to expressing themselves in the classroom. Procedures from the U.S. department of Education constitutionally protecting prayer and beliefs in public k 12 schools are mandatory. In the early 2000 s, a school in New York was subject to discrimination because a kindergarten student completed a poster project that was censored by the teacher for religious themes. The family claimed it was a violation of the establishment clause, and freedom of speech by inhibiting the religious expression of the poster. The teacher claimed to have instructed the students to create a poster project based on the information covered in the class, though the parents were not informed of this. Therefore, this was not a justified claim to inhibition of religious freedom or freedom of speech. The project should not have included any religious themes that the student ... Compassion Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology Nurses Essay Pediatric oncology nurses are given the unique opportunity to make connections and build long term relationship with their patients and families. Standard treatment protocol for many childhood cancers span over the course of years, with long term surveillance and follow up visits after treatment has finished. Due to their patient s chronic diagnoses and the acuity of their conditions, pediatric oncology nurses work in an environment of increased stress. The high stress environment puts the nurses at an increased risk for compassion fatigue; so it is the responsibility of both the nurse, and the institution to be aware of the symptoms and to effectively manage the condition should it arise. Without proper attention to the stress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nurses also provide end of life, and post mortem care. When a patient dies, the nurse often grieves alongside the family and helps to provide them with emotional support (Hecktman, 2012). Although the prognoses of childhood cancer have improved drastically over the last 30 years, many children still succumb to the disease. Nurses are the ones who provide constant bedside care, and often must confront the limits of what medicine can do for people (Schuster, 2013). This can prove to be difficult and bring on feelings of hopelessness and as though they are not helping their patients at all. Patients can leave lasting impacts on the nursing staff, and when multiple children die while in their care, the nurse may begin to experience cumulative loss. Childhood cancer is the leading cause of non accidental death for children in Canada, and therefore, pediatric oncology nurses are often exposed to death on a routine basis, with little time to grieve between the deaths. It is imperative that nurses are aware of their stressors and how they respond to stress in order to effectively care for their patients. Patient care may be at risk if a nurse is experiencing compassion fatigue. Nurses can start to exhibit distancing or desensitizing behaviors in order to cope with their stressors; thus leading to a decreased satisfaction in patient care and an ineffective therapeutic relationship. Metaphors and Repetition in Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night In Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, the speaker is a son talking to his aging father and pleading with him to fight against death. The son knows that death is the inevitable end to every life, but feels one should not give up to death too easily. By using metaphor, imagery, and repetition, Thomas reinforces the son s message that aging men see their lives with sudden clarity and realize how they might have lived happier, more productive lives. The son also mentions good men who do not die peacefully. These men despair that their feeble deeds did not accomplish enough. Even though they were good men, they feel they could have done so much more if given the time. The son next tells his father how wild and grave men also struggled with death. Wild men spent their lives frivolously, wishing time on its way. They learn when it is too late that they hurried time too fast and now they cannot recapture what they so wantonly spent. Their lives were foolishly wasted. The son also mentions grave or serious men who review their lives with a swift lucidity when death is upon them. These solemn, sober men now realize life could have been more joyous had they been a little more blind. If life is taken a little less seriously, one could blaze like meteors and be gay. Repetition at the end of each stanza is effectively used to reinforce the message to fight back against death. • 42. My Barroom Observation In lieu of having the opportunity to measure a tall object, I decided that it would be interesting to know the height of my barn because it was never identified. There are few steps to finding how tall an item is, however, it is quite difficult to be completely accurate with the objects that I utilized. First, I needed to build a clinometer with a straw, protractor, and string, which was used to find the angle of elevation. The angle of elevation is the angle formed by a horizontal line and a line of sight to a point above the line (Rehill), and in this specific scenario, the point is the top of the barn. Furthermore, I then measured the distance from the barn to where I was standing and looked, through the straw, to the top of it. I had to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, the answers that I got are reasonable because they do not seem too small and they are quite average for an one and a half story building. Nevertheless, the height of the barn might be inaccurate because errors could have a drastic impact on the final answer. To illustrate, the measurements are the basis for the whole entire problem by reason that trigonometric ratios place primary importance on them, so, therefore, if they are incorrect, then all of the resulting numbers will be wrong. I struggled with obtaining the appropriate angle measurements because I had problems with pinching the string at the correct place and viewing the necessary spot through the straw. Also, if the calculations were amiss, then it would produce false numbers, which causes the final answer to be off due to the legitimate figures not being incorporated. I had a problem with this also as I did not set up the correct equations at first, which would give me faulty calculations and, consequently, mess up my final answer. However, I quickly figured out that my equations were incorrect, so, therefore, I did not experience any problems attributed to that exact reason. Another problem that I faced was with building the clinometer itself due to the protractor being attached to a geometric template and not aligning the straw correctly, but I just used my protractor as there was no effect and I figured out how the straw needed to be ... Torture is unacceptable because is damages a person s humanity, values, respect and reputation of the moral authorities. This essay will discuss two accounts for the moral wrongness of torture and they have been discovered by William Twining s and from his research he noted torture to be morally wrong since the rights of the victim is violated, secondly David Sussman who believes torture is morally wrong because the victim is turned against the victim herself. Torture includes forcing the victim to 1)perform sexual activities, or pose in a sexual manner , 2)beatings and burns 3) placing hoods over the head and covering the eyes by using duct tape 4)and waterboarding. Waterboarding is the most commonly used for torture in nowadays, this method involves placing a cloth over the victims face and causes the victim to experience the sensation of drowning. Torture may affect someone s life socially because the individual shall find it hard to make friends, difficult to adapt to a new culture and they will feel uncertain and lost about the future (Gerrity et al 2001).
