Free Will In Ancient Rome
Rome was a republic 2500 years ago for more than 500 years with a parliamentary system where no
one owned too much power. It was the first ever city with a million people in it. First establishment
ever which allowed free will. An insight into the history of this massive empire brings home the idea
that when society is let loose to choose for itself, it progresses, rises quickly and then crumbles at the
same pace. My salute to this great ancient Rome from here an empire sent out an army which
mastered the known world, for centuries Rome ruled over a quarter of people on the planet. The
greatest empire world has ever known; unmatched in its brutality, its genius, its lust for power. It rose,
became great and then crumbled. The stories of great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But how could it? Why did it? Answers to these questions lay deep in the fact that when there is no
one to look after the proceedings or to take charge of any situation, things will certainly fall apart. Free
will, as good and great it may sound, is a treacherous witch. The idea of free will does signify
freedom. However, it doesn t take into account free will to what extent and doesn t necessitates that
every one must exercise it equally. This flaw led to a highly corrupt political machinery, corrupt
beauracracy, increasing economic disparity, massive social indifference and made a great empire to
fall despite the fact that both the Rome and the opponents wanted peace. All this forced, one man,
Tibarius , to rise and create a revolutionary thinking amongst the people that country is for them and
by them and that without one prime leader passing of laws and governance can never be as effective.
Rome had to sustain a million people back then. This meant timely routing of resources like food,

The Three Year Strategic Plan Essay
The Three Year Strategic Plan for McDonald s A group of friends are walking down a street after
school, and one brings up the idea to get something to eat. Along the way, there are a handful of
restaurants: A local bistro known for its Italian cuisine, along with an astronomical price tag; a
submarine shop that s been open for a few months to favorable Yelp reviews, with a line is out the
door and nearly wrapped around the building; and McDonald s, which is not necessarily the favorite
place for all of the friends involved, but there s enough choices for each person to find something that
they are willing to eat, without taking a large chunk out of their allowance. After a general consensus,
the group makes their way into McDonalds, and orders a variety of items: One person decides on a
double cheeseburger, another orders a fish sandwich, and another person orders some chicken nuggets.
Everyone also orders a side of fries and a soft drink. The cashier takes their orders, provides change to
those who used cash, and places each order on a tray. Each person takes their meals to a nearby table,
and they continue to converse amongst one another. Regarding restaurants, fast food is not a new
concept. If anything, if we look towards the past, McDonald s could be considered the grandfather to
changing how the general public makes decisions on where they decide to eat, especially if they are on
a limited budget and have little time for a full service, sit down restaurant, such as

The North American Musical Film
The North American Musical Film The musical film in the United States is largely associated with
Broadway theatre. Broadway is an area in New York City where the biggest theatres are located,
accommodating at least 500 people. Smaller theatres are said to be located Off Broadway and even
smaller theatres are called Off Off Broadway. Some notable musical films such as Chicago (2002),
My Fair Lady (1964) and West Side Story (1961) were adapted from musical plays and trace their
origins to Broadway where they first started their production. Some Off Broadway productions also
enjoyed a surge of popularity that warranted their expansion to film such as Rent (2005) and Fame
(1980). Some musical films were adapted from West End productions which is the British counterpart
of Broadway in London. Examples of such films are The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), Oliver!
(1968), and Mamma Mia! (2008).
But not all musical films were adapted from the stage. When the musical genre enjoyed its peak of
popularity, Hollywood was churning out original musical compositions. It was hard to resist adapting
iconic compositions like Singin in the Rain (1952), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) and 42nd Street
(1933) for the stage. Given all these variations and just the sheer number of films originating in the
United States, it is safe to say that North America has a very rich history of musical films.
The musical film burst into the scene at a time when the United States was undergoing a revolution of

Time of Unrest in 1848 in the German States
The time of unrest that took place in The German states after 1848 was foreshadowed by widening
political, economic, and social division with in each state. These strong differing positions would lead
to the revolts of 1848 in Prussia, Austria, Hungary, and Prague and the German s lost opportunity to
build a united nation under a liberal parliament.
A strengthened public spirit , would fuel the revolutions and unrest that rocked the Germanic States in
1848 caused by the idea of national unity (Doc 10). Some German people felt it would be beneficial to
create a unified German, which [would] render the ferment stronger then ever (Doc 2). That
unification would be the perfect path to a representative constitutional monarchy. It was only by the
unification of the German States that freedom [could] come forth, and the rule of law be secured for
our future public life (Doc 10). Other officials had very different views, they believed that the
bourgeoisie were being poisoned by the evil education of the time and were going to cause the
downfall of all German States (Doc 8). These conservatives called for the prices and governments to
crush these ideas and rebellions and call upon the support of the proletariat in order to remain in
control of their nations.
The economic distress of the lower class and the raise of the middle class due to industrialization
fueled the unrest of the time. The middle class got richer building and operating factories while the

Essay On Daytime Commercials
Pay Attention to the Commercials
Don t go to work! Don t go to school! Stay home tomorrow and watch some TV. Daytime television
commercials can be classified into who they are being marketed to. Businesses realize who will be
watching TV between ten a.m. and two p.m. so they target their ads to these TV watchers. The
majority of the viewers between these times are the stay at home moms, out of work people, and the
people who stayed home from work sick. The only reason that I pick up on such a minor detail as this
is because my goal is to graduate from college with a major in marketing. I watch commercials and
laugh when I see the approach used by some businesses to get the attention of their consumers.

Juice boxes always claim to be made with real fruit juice when they really only have about 5%, but
moms are looking to give their children the very best. There are some commercials targeted just for
the mom in mind though, such as: Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and cereals that are good for you
like Special K. Moms who do not have much time on their hands need an easy way to lose weight, so
when they see these commercials they may think it will get them a little thinner without the effort of
committing to a gym. Lastly, there are commercials for hair color, shampoo, conditioner, and makeup.
Herbal Essence chooses to show how using their product will take you away from all the hassles of
the world when you use it. What mom wouldn t want that?
The other audience watching shows such as Judge Judy and Moral Court are the out of work people.
This audience is kind of a slacker who lays around the house all day not motivated to find a job or do
much of anything except flip through the channels. These people aren t interested in what they can buy
so they need different advertising. This is where the chiropractors, lawyers, ideas/patents, and college
commercials come in. Zero down! No credit, bad credit okay! If you re an accident victim we ll work

The Oppression Of Women In Today s Western Culture
There have been many unspoken agreements made in the past 250 or so years of western culture.
There s an understanding in our community that some things just are because they are, especially
when it concerns gender. In America, men don t wear makeup or dresses. Girls aren t supposed to be
doctors, athletes, or CEOs. And in western culture, it s the simple truth that the only genders that exist
are boy, and girl. There s basis behind some of it, but one of the only reasons that it s western
philosophy is because it just... is.
Recently, however, these philosophies are being challenged. People across the world and America are
separating gender from activities and lifestyles. Male beauty gurus like Manny Gutierrez are making
waves. Marissa Mayer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay
Introduction
In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious
institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open
market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method,
findings of the study, and the discussion.
Theory and Hypothesis
The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm shift.
Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a generation
or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a certain religion,
performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services, spirituality, religious
donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations (Pargament, 1997). Although the
religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be considered, the affiliation among the
adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of importance. Religious affiliation among kids
is believed to bring about a number of positive outcomes including better physical health, less drug
abuse, better social conditioning and functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are
more religiously inclined are also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a
strong character (Markstorm, 1999). However, if not handled properly, religion can also drive in the
feelings

Using RFID Technology in the Transportation Sector
RFID or radio frequency identification is the name given to the technology that uses radio waves to
transmit data and uniquely identify an animal, person, or thing ( radio frequency identification, 2013).
An RFID system includes a transponder including an antenna and a chip that can easily store a
significant amount of data such as location details, manufacturer details and product numbers if any.
There are three basic types of the RFID readers. Fixed readers with an external antenna which are
often used at the entry points of the yards. Handheld readers are used by personnel moving through
the yards or the space. Then there are mobile readers which are set on the moving vehicles and
moving equipment for increasing accuracy and tracking the process ( Advantages of RFID in
Transportation and Logistics , 2011). In the current times, radio frequency identification technology
has upgraded from anonymity into applications that are rather used normally and as a consequence has
helped in the acceleration of manufactured materials handling (Want, 2006). There are several uses of
RFID in various sectors. However, this paper will only deal with its uses in the transportation sector
and how effectively this modern technology has helped in the growth of business and ease for people
all over the world. RFID technology has a number of applications in the domain of transportation
including electronic toll collection (ETC), electronic vehicle registration (EVR), automatic

Mail Fraud Cases
The federal mail and wire fraud statutes ban plans or schemes to defraud that includes the utilization
of mail or wire communications. Both condemn deceitful conduct that may likewise come surprisingly
close to other federal criminal statutes. Both may serve as money laundering offenses. Both are
deserving of imprisonment for not more than 20 years; for not more than 30 years, if the victim is a
financial institution or the offense is committed in times of crisis. Victims in both of these situations
are entitled to restitution. Both may bring about the relinquishment of property. The mail fraud statue
was introduced in the early nineteenth century and the wire fraud statute is a little more recent as it
was enacted in 1952.
Mail fraud, by definition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time, the United States Supreme Court expanded and contracted the reach of the mail
fraud statute, finally merging the various components in Schmuck v. United States, 489 U.S. 705
(1989). From its origins in 1872 to approximately the middle of the twentieth century, the mail fraud
statute s reach was considerable. It was only necessary that the scheme to defraud should be devised
or intended to be devised and a letter placed in the post office for the purpose of executing the scheme
or attempting to do so. The breadth of the statute was extended two years later when the United States
Supreme Court held, to satisfy the mailing requirement, it is sufficient for the mailing to be incident to
an essential part of the scheme or a step in the plot. This broad standard remained until Kann v. United
States, 322 U.S. 88 (1944). In Kann v. United States, the defendants were corporate officers and
directors who were accused of creating a dummy corporation in order to divert profits into their own
pockets. As part of this fraudulent scheme, the defendants allowed the corporation to issue checks
payable to the both of them. The defendants cashed the checks at local banks, which then mailed the
checks to the drawee banks for collection. The court held that the mailing of the cashed checks to the
drawee banks could not supply the mailing element of the mail fraud charges. The defendant s
fraudulent scheme had reached fruition. It was immaterial to them, or to any consummation of the
scheme, how the bank which paid or credited the check would collect from the drawee bank. The
federal mail fraud statute does not purport to reach all frauds, but only those limited instances in
which the use of the mails is a part of the execution of the fraud, leaving all other cases to be dealt
with by appropriate state law (Kann, 323

them. They had to have tech employee s work round the clock to make sure the websites could handle

Times have changed and we cannot have that. People in today s world do not have the same morale
fiber that they used to have when we were little. Organizations like the Red Cross now need to come
up with better ethical standards. They have done so by not having too many people at the top. Instead
of 50 they now have 20. They also need to have controls in place that will ensure that employee
misconduct will no longer be a problem. In addition people need to be trained in ethics and be made to
sign ethical documents that spell out the companies ethical procedures, which the Red Cross has done.
The Red Cross needs to be more transparent about where its money donations are going. Transparency
is huge and there would be no question if the ARC adopted this practice(Thorne,

My Experience With A Graduate Student
I had initial thoughts of this class being extremely difficult. I am not yet sure if this is going to be true
for me or not. I am still nervous about recording sessions with clients and having to review them.
Examining recorded sessions of myself is worrisome in the sense that I have never been able to see
myself communicating with someone else. I have high hopes that I am a good listener, that needs
improvement. I hope by learning skills from this class I will be able to improve my skills. It will
definitely be a learning experience that I am dreading but excited for at the same time. The workload
of this course is going to be larger than what I was used to in undergrad, I have come to accept the
reality of being a graduate student. After examining the syllabus, I noticed that the workload is not
over whelming, but it will take time management skills and dedication. I have reviewed the syllabus
more than once, making sure that I had an understanding of everything that is expected of me in this
course. When reading the syllabus, I did find myself questioning some of the assignments, but it stated
that we would review the instructions more thoroughly during class. I did not realize that I would be
learning so much by reading the first chapter of our textbook. I found it very interesting that Egan

Therefore, more than 160 governments met in Tokyo in 1997 to draft the Tokyo Portal to advocate
reduction of GHG emission and set emission reduction targets.
As an important construction material, the Portland cement has been widely used in construction
industry around the world. The Portland cement clinker is made from calcinations of limestone and
siliceous materials where de carbonation occurs. The reaction:
C_a 〖CO〗_3⟶C_a O+〖CO〗_2
The production of Portland cement is high energy consumption and produce large amount emission of
CO2. Previous research indicates that 0.98kg of CO2 will be created by production of 1kg of Portland
cement, including 0.53g from decarbonisation, 0.33g from burning process plus 0.12g from generation
of electricity power required. Therefore, for every ton of cement produced, an approximately equal
amount of carbon dioxide is relapsed in to atmosphere [2阿三]. The world cement industry contributes
7% of total CO2 emission [3]. This leads to the research of seeking more environmental friendly

Ordinary Portland cement (OPC), the AAS has is own advantages. Firstly, it uses ground granulated
blast furnace slag (GGBS) as the binder material of concrete, which is a by product from industry

The Use Of Primitive Tasers On The United States Of America
Most of us are familiar with the distinctive ticking of a TASER. TASERs, used by police departments
throughout the United States of America, have become a go to tool for apprehending suspects without
fatally wounding them. The first use of primitive TASERs dates back to 1960 and they have come a
long way since. Such as advancements such as upgrading from gunpowder to compressed air, to more
computerised TASERs that automatically cut off and collect crucial user data. With the advancement
of technology, TASERs quickly became a more viable tool for an officer s duty belt.

In 1974 Jack began his work on his idea drawing inspiration from a book called Tom Swift and his
Electric Rifle. He first created a device that look like a flashlight. The device used gunpowder to fire
two prongs attached to wire up to 15 feet. Once the prongs made contact the device pulsed 50,000
volts into the target causing uncontrollable muscle spasms and effectively immobilizing the target
without killing. He came up with the name TSR, an acronym for the book in which he got his ideas
from, for his invention. Later he would add an a , making it the well known name today TASER, to the
name because he grew tired of saying the letters when talking about his invention.
After filing for a patent on his device Jack tried to start selling his new invention. However, the United
States government quickly classified his invention as a firearm because of the use of gunpowder. This
classification severely hindered his sales but he managed to sell to the Los Angeles Police
Department. When efforts to use the device to subdue Rodney King in 1991 failed Patrick Smith
teamed up with Jack to help improve the device. One of the major improvements was replacing the
gunpowder used to propel the prongs with compressed air. Without gunpowder in the device the
classification of firearm was dropped, making selling the device much easier. This caused

Asian-American Superhero Analysis
Essays, Not Rants! 244: An Asian American Superhero
I wasn t sure how I felt about Silk when she first showed up in the Spider Man comics, but it was
when she got her own series and a narrative no longer intrinsically tied to Peter Parker that she really
came into her own.
But on the on the one hand, yeah, another webslinging spider themed hero? We ve already got a lot
with Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Miguel O Hara in books of their own; do we need
one more? The thing is, Silk brings with it like each of the other spider books a unique story and
character.
Obviously, there s Silk/Cindy Moon herself. One of the things that hooked me into the book is
something somewhat shallow but terribly important: Cindy is Korean American. Yes, I know, I m
ranting about diversity again. But listen. There are precious few Asian superheroes, even less so with
their own books. There will always be a thrill in getting to see someone who looks like you
represented.
But Cindy s Asian ness isn t just a lip service done through line art and surname, the story in Silk
features distinctly Asian elements.
So quick recap, Cindy got bitten by the same spider that gave Peter Parker his powers, but due to some

Although the cost of entertainment is a significant expense for hotels, the cost of providing
entertainment is justified by its effectiveness in attracting people to the gaming tables and machines
(McDonald, 1998, p. 4). The market is also demonstrating a trend of hotels becoming a one stop shop.
For example, hotels are not only including room stay but also gaming, entertainment, shopping,
comedy clubs, lounges, nail and hair salons and other activities and amenities desired by consumers.
This trend is demonstrating the evolution of hotels into destination resorts.
Market Growth
The market has demonstrated an increase in growth over the last decade. Sales for Hilton have also
demonstrated a steady increase, particularly once the hotels expanded to include gaming and
entertainment. Competition for the gaming dollar is intense, and the degree of investment needed to be
successful is high. Hilton has had to put more than $6 million into renovating the Las Vegas Hilton to
keep up with such rivals as the Mirage and the Excalibur (McDonald, 1998, p. 3). In addition, the
hotel market has demonstrated a consistently high occupancy rate, particularly the Hilton hotels. In

Profit seeking motive
When a person enters into a transaction, we need to identify whether there is a profit seeking motive.
It is not the existence of a profit that is important, it is the motive to earn one. However, the ZRA will
really be interested in this issue if a profit has actually been earned, because then they have something
to tax. A Taxpayer may argue that they are trading in order to utilize a loss to reduce their Tax bill. The
taxpayer must however, demonstrate the motive rather than the existence of profit to establish that a

Intention to trade clearly constitutes trading. Intention to make a profit may not necessarily be so.

In Cape Brandy Syndicate Vs IRC (1921), three individuals in the wine trade bought 10,000 gallons of
South African Brandy. This was blended, bottled and sold to over 100 separate buyers over a period of
about 18 months. They were held to be trading. Per Rowlatt. J. They had ...bought it with a view to

In IRC Vs Livingstone (1972), a syndicate purchased a cargo vessel with a view to converting it into a
steam drifter and selling it at a profit. They had never previously done this, but they were held to be

Circumstances giving rise to the Realization
If a taxpayer sells an asset in order to raise money to help solve some financial problems it will be
difficult to prove that he is carrying on a trade. Incidentally, there have been few cases on this point.
In Page Vs Pogson (1954) the taxpayer built a house for himself and sold it six months later after
completion. He then built another one but had to sell it when his employment moved to another part of
the Country. He was held to be trading by the Commissioners of Taxes.
In addition to the six badges of trade there additional factors which have to be taken into account.
These are:
Taxpayer s other circumstances
If other circumstances of a taxpayer indicate the existence of a trade then even the current transaction
is likely to be interpreted as an indication

Ender s Game Analysis Essay
Ender s Game Analysis In the movie Ender s Game, there are many differences and many similarities
between the book and the movie. The reader would have noticed more differences than did
similarities. Some of the differences in the movie were large, some were subtle. Some parts were left
out of the movie entirely. The main scenes that are going to be concentrated on in this paper are The
Giant s Drink, Ender s progression through the ranks, the buggers, and Graff s control over the
soldiers. In the book and the movie alike, The Giant s Drink is a game engineered by the IF to train
strategic thinking. The main conflict in the game is when a seemingly impassable giant gives you the
choice to drink from 2 chalices, and it is established that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In both the movie and the book, Ender graduated from Launchy , to soldier, to a commander of his
own platoon, to a trainee for a commander, to Supreme Commander of the IF. In the movie, most of
the promotions went smoothly and were similar with the book. All of these were similar up until the
graduation from Battle School to Command School. In the book, Ender first fought Bonzo, and then
proceeded to fight 2 armies, where afterward he was promoted from Battle School to Command
School. In the movie, Ender first fought 2 armies, one of them being Bonzo s. Only afterwards Ender
was confronted by Bonzo, and while Ender was watching Bonzo in the infirmary after the fight, Graff
approached him and informed him about his promotion. The makers of the movie rearranged the order
of the fights and the promotions in order to give Bonzo a stronger reason to confront Ender (the defeat
of his army and previous reasons), therefore building up to the fight, most likely to make the plot
simpler. Either way, the events in the book and movie both created the same results, keeping the

White People In Sports
White people did not allow black people at first in the sport activity. White people did not want to
have any contact with black community. Black people were only allowed to have their own leagues.
They were not allowed to be in the leagues that they had white athletes. The black people could only
compete with themselves. It was very hard for black people to even have any competition with other
races in that period of time. After a while when white people started noticing that black people were
actually very good at sports, at first they tried to not let them compete with white people. After some
time that black people compete with white people, then they were sure that black people were actually

The black people were catchers and in quarterback while there were no black people holding the
position of authority or being a coach. The problem is that most of the heads of these leagues and
sport activities were racist at that time. The reason that most black people were about to get into sport
society was that during that time they really wanted to have a good social standing and the only way
that black kid could get it was through their participation in sport. It is really sad that their signing in
and hiring process was different than white people. They were getting paid less and they could get fire
faster than white people. Although Bill White, a Black man, was President of the National League of
Professional Baseball, from April 1989 to February 1994, very few Black men have ever had the
opportunity to manage baseball teams. The Chicago White Sox hired Larry Doby, one of the two

To what extent was late 19th century and early 20th century US expansionism a continuation of past
US expansionism and to what extent was it a departure? Over the years the United States
expansionism has experienced many different changes. The United States has expanded for many
different reasons such as the economy, land, and even God. Expansionism is now a continuation of
past United States expansionism but was more so a departure. The United States has progressed
economically and as a result methods of expansionism have evolved but it also tried to stay with the

All of the major departures show hints of the United States forefather s ideals. The expansion into
foreign lands comes from Manifest Destiny and the idea that the Anglo Saxon, or WASP, was
mandated by God to expand into these territories. In Document B it states that The race of unequalled
energy, with all the majesty of numbers and the might of wealth behind it the representative, let us
hope, of the largest liberty, the purest Christianity, the highest civilization. Although the continuation
of the United States expansionism was limited, they continued to stay true to the Monroe Doctrine.
The Roosevelt Corollary comes directly from the Monroe Doctrine which protected the rights of
struggling Latin American countries and their fights for freedom. Chronic wrongdoing, or an
impotence which results in a general loosening of the ties of civilized society, may in America, as
elsewhere, ultimately require intervention by some civilized nation, and in the Western Hemisphere
the adherence of the United States to the Monroe Doctrine may force the United States, however
reluctantly, in flagrant cases of such wrongdoing or impotence, to the exercise of international police
power. This is stated in Document F. Like anything in the world with good continuations comes bad
continuations, for example the people of the United States never fully recognized immigrants or

Mexico As A Liberal Democracy
Mexico, a country full of culture and beauty. However, many have been questioning what kind of
government does Mexico really have. There has been debate over the years if Mexico can be
considered as a Liberal Democracy. One can believe that Mexico can be considered liberal democracy
because their people are not forbidden or restrained from doing many things. Their government treats
them like the government treats people from the United States, they are free to do what they want as
long they follow the law their government has for them. The article From Darkness, Dawn
demonstrates how Mexico is no longer the way it used to be in terms as in economy, population
growth, poverty, and drug war. The author of the article From Darkness, Dawn Tom Wainwright
states, Mexico outpaced Brazilin their economy, Net emigration is down to zero, fertility rate will
soon be lower, Yes there is poverty, but alleviated by services such as universal free health care, and
the failure of rich countries anti drugs policies means that organized crime will not go away. But
Mexico s murder rate is now falling, albeit slowly, for the first time in five years . Wainwright ... Show

The Psychodynamic Theories Of Depression
Psychodynamic Theory The psychodynamic theory was the dominant school of thought within
psychiatry and much of clinical psychology during the first part of the 20th century. There are multiple
explanations that fall under the psychodynamic categories that explain why a person develops
depressive symptoms. Psychoanalysts historically believed that depression was caused by anger
converted into self hatred or anger that turns inward. Historically, psychodynamic theories were
extensively criticized for their lack of empiricism. According to interpersonal theory, a depressed
person s negative interpersonal behaviors cause other people to reject them. In an escalating cycle,
depressed people, who desperately want reassurance from others, start ... Show more content on

That s because the image of the psychiatrist and patient probing the past is a staple of our popular
culture. It can be found on sitcoms or in joke. Notwithstanding that image of therapy that is portrayed,
there are many common features of treatments for depression such as a provision of hope, support,
and a theoretical framework concerning the origins of and potential cure for the disorder, studies do
show important differences between psychodynamic and other treatments. First, perhaps more so than
any other treatment, PT focus on the patient s internal world, that is, illustrations or intellectual
affective schemas of self and others that influence our perceptions, thoughts, feelings and actions,
including an emphasis on the role of an unconscious motivation of the individual. The importance of
psychodynamic approaches to depression is how the unconscious motivational factors lead the patient
to perceive and interpret outward reality and experiences and to create reluctantly problems that
maintain depressive symptoms, particularly in interactive relationships. For example, some individuals
may unconsciously avoid any clear expression of aggression in close relationships for fear of
abandonment although they may feel very frustrated and dissatisfied. Likewise, because of their high
standards and competitiveness, highly self critical

Business Management At Corporate And Our Facilities Essay
The People Process Restructuring In 2014 my current employer Silfex has entered a restructuring
hierarchy. During this year we obtained a new General Manager and he is focused on aligning our
business with our owner s structure and combining similar business operations. Our previous structure
was considered a Matrix structure that had direct reports from both corporate and our site, this system
caused tension between managers at corporate and our facility. In this change our General Manager
obtained more direct reports which overwhelmed his working duties with the owners and customer
relations. His top project was to develop a structure that showed accountability for all management to
execute in a given time period. The Pyramid structure was introduced as our new structure. This
structure added one layer of management between the Director level and the General Manager which
is considered a Senior Director. Implementing this has allowed our management to stay focused and
connected to our internal operations while the GM and Senior Directors focus on executive and
customer relations. For this added layer of management the engineering and manufacturing operations
have adopted a 4 up system that updates the top management on our project and top focus dealing
with yield or scheduling issues. As our business is projected to increase within the next 2 3 years it
will be interesting how this structure will absorb an overloaded time schedule. From an internal

Quentin Tarantino Quotes
15 Most Violent Q.T Characters The name Quentin Tarantino is just about synonymous with violence.
It s a common theme in many of his movies along with glamorized crime and quirky dark humor. Now
maybe graphic violence isn t essential to a film s success but his unique style of delivering violence
has made him one of the most iconic directors of all time. While other directors spew out movie after
movie, Quentin remains committed to quality over quantity. And it shows; he delivers what his
audience wants time after time, and keeps them hanging on for more. It s the way that Quentin uses
bloodshed that makes him so unique. First, he chooses a theme that goes hand and hand in violence
such as Wild West, martial arts, or gangsters. Then through outstanding dialogue, he introduces us to
characters that we either love or loathe, either way, we are always drawn into them. He masterfully
builds tension, gets us all worked up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a man who follows orders, all throughout the movie you see him doing what his boss asks him to do
from killing people to taking his wife out to dinner. What s more, he s a remorseless killer. Think
about the scene where he accidently shoots Marvin in the head while he and Jules are driving. What
does he do immediately afterward? You or I may have screamed hysterically but he says Oh man, I
shot Marvin in the face, as though he s talking about some toast that he burnt accidently, while Jules is

  • 2. Free Will In Ancient Rome Rome was a republic 2500 years ago for more than 500 years with a parliamentary system where no one owned too much power. It was the first ever city with a million people in it. First establishment ever which allowed free will. An insight into the history of this massive empire brings home the idea that when society is let loose to choose for itself, it progresses, rises quickly and then crumbles at the same pace. My salute to this great ancient Rome from here an empire sent out an army which mastered the known world, for centuries Rome ruled over a quarter of people on the planet. The greatest empire world has ever known; unmatched in its brutality, its genius, its lust for power. It rose, became great and then crumbled. The stories of great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But how could it? Why did it? Answers to these questions lay deep in the fact that when there is no one to look after the proceedings or to take charge of any situation, things will certainly fall apart. Free will, as good and great it may sound, is a treacherous witch. The idea of free will does signify freedom. However, it doesn t take into account free will to what extent and doesn t necessitates that every one must exercise it equally. This flaw led to a highly corrupt political machinery, corrupt beauracracy, increasing economic disparity, massive social indifference and made a great empire to fall despite the fact that both the Rome and the opponents wanted peace. All this forced, one man, Tibarius , to rise and create a revolutionary thinking amongst the people that country is for them and by them and that without one prime leader passing of laws and governance can never be as effective. Rome had to sustain a million people back then. This meant timely routing of resources like food, water and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Three Year Strategic Plan Essay The Three Year Strategic Plan for McDonald s A group of friends are walking down a street after school, and one brings up the idea to get something to eat. Along the way, there are a handful of restaurants: A local bistro known for its Italian cuisine, along with an astronomical price tag; a submarine shop that s been open for a few months to favorable Yelp reviews, with a line is out the door and nearly wrapped around the building; and McDonald s, which is not necessarily the favorite place for all of the friends involved, but there s enough choices for each person to find something that they are willing to eat, without taking a large chunk out of their allowance. After a general consensus, the group makes their way into McDonalds, and orders a variety of items: One person decides on a double cheeseburger, another orders a fish sandwich, and another person orders some chicken nuggets. Everyone also orders a side of fries and a soft drink. The cashier takes their orders, provides change to those who used cash, and places each order on a tray. Each person takes their meals to a nearby table, and they continue to converse amongst one another. Regarding restaurants, fast food is not a new concept. If anything, if we look towards the past, McDonald s could be considered the grandfather to changing how the general public makes decisions on where they decide to eat, especially if they are on a limited budget and have little time for a full service, sit down restaurant, such as ... • 5. The North American Musical Film The North American Musical Film The musical film in the United States is largely associated with Broadway theatre. Broadway is an area in New York City where the biggest theatres are located, accommodating at least 500 people. Smaller theatres are said to be located Off Broadway and even smaller theatres are called Off Off Broadway. Some notable musical films such as Chicago (2002), My Fair Lady (1964) and West Side Story (1961) were adapted from musical plays and trace their origins to Broadway where they first started their production. Some Off Broadway productions also enjoyed a surge of popularity that warranted their expansion to film such as Rent (2005) and Fame (1980). Some musical films were adapted from West End productions which is the British counterpart of Broadway in London. Examples of such films are The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), Oliver! (1968), and Mamma Mia! (2008). But not all musical films were adapted from the stage. When the musical genre enjoyed its peak of popularity, Hollywood was churning out original musical compositions. It was hard to resist adapting iconic compositions like Singin in the Rain (1952), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) and 42nd Street (1933) for the stage. Given all these variations and just the sheer number of films originating in the United States, it is safe to say that North America has a very rich history of musical films. • 6. Time of Unrest in 1848 in the German States The time of unrest that took place in The German states after 1848 was foreshadowed by widening political, economic, and social division with in each state. These strong differing positions would lead to the revolts of 1848 in Prussia, Austria, Hungary, and Prague and the German s lost opportunity to build a united nation under a liberal parliament. A strengthened public spirit , would fuel the revolutions and unrest that rocked the Germanic States in 1848 caused by the idea of national unity (Doc 10). Some German people felt it would be beneficial to create a unified German, which [would] render the ferment stronger then ever (Doc 2). That unification would be the perfect path to a representative constitutional monarchy. It was only by the unification of the German States that freedom [could] come forth, and the rule of law be secured for our future public life (Doc 10). Other officials had very different views, they believed that the bourgeoisie were being poisoned by the evil education of the time and were going to cause the downfall of all German States (Doc 8). These conservatives called for the prices and governments to crush these ideas and rebellions and call upon the support of the proletariat in order to remain in control of their nations. The economic distress of the lower class and the raise of the middle class due to industrialization fueled the unrest of the time. • 7. Essay On Daytime Commercials Pay Attention to the Commercials Don t go to work! Don t go to school! Stay home tomorrow and watch some TV. Daytime television commercials can be classified into who they are being marketed to. Businesses realize who will be watching TV between ten a.m. and two p.m. so they target their ads to these TV watchers. The majority of the viewers between these times are the stay at home moms, out of work people, and the people who stayed home from work sick. The only reason that I pick up on such a minor detail as this is because my goal is to graduate from college with a major in marketing. Juice boxes always claim to be made with real fruit juice when they really only have about 5%, but moms are looking to give their children the very best. There are some commercials targeted just for the mom in mind though, such as: Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and cereals that are good for you like Special K. Moms who do not have much time on their hands need an easy way to lose weight, so when they see these commercials they may think it will get them a little thinner without the effort of committing to a gym. Lastly, there are commercials for hair color, shampoo, conditioner, and makeup. Herbal Essence chooses to show how using their product will take you away from all the hassles of the world when you use it. What mom wouldn t want that? The other audience watching shows such as Judge Judy and Moral Court are the out of work people. This audience is kind of a slacker who lays around the house all day not motivated to find a job or do much of anything except flip through the channels. These people aren t interested in what they can buy so they need different advertising. This is where the chiropractors, lawyers, ideas/patents, and college commercials come in. Zero down! • 8. The Oppression Of Women In Today s Western Culture There have been many unspoken agreements made in the past 250 or so years of western culture. There s an understanding in our community that some things just are because they are, especially when it concerns gender. In America, men don t wear makeup or dresses. Girls aren t supposed to be doctors, athletes, or CEOs. And in western culture, it s the simple truth that the only genders that exist are boy, and girl. There s basis behind some of it, but one of the only reasons that it s western philosophy is because it just... is. Recently, however, these philosophies are being challenged. • 9. A New Paradigm On The Open Market System Essay Introduction In this paper, we will analyze a new paradigm that is emerging recently around the religious institutions, the whole crux of which lies in the fact that the organized religion thrives in the open market system. The paper is further divided into six sections: literature, theory, hypothesis, method, findings of the study, and the discussion. Theory and Hypothesis The sociology of the religion has been seen to be undergoing a period of change, or a paradigm shift. Are the American kids growing up to have a different religious inclination than the kids a generation or two ago? Religious inclination can include acknowledgement of belonging to a certain religion, performing religious practices, attending the religious ceremonies and services, spirituality, religious donations and charities, and approving of religious organizations (Pargament, 1997). Although the religious affiliation for all is an important factor to be considered, the affiliation among the adolescents particularly takes away a significant share of importance. Religious affiliation among kids is believed to bring about a number of positive outcomes including better physical health, less drug abuse, better social conditioning and functioning, and fewer risk related behaviors. The kids who are more religiously inclined are also believed to have less signs of anxiety and depression and display a strong character (Markstorm, 1999). However, if not handled properly, religion can also drive in the feelings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Using RFID Technology in the Transportation Sector RFID or radio frequency identification is the name given to the technology that uses radio waves to transmit data and uniquely identify an animal, person, or thing ( radio frequency identification, 2013). An RFID system includes a transponder including an antenna and a chip that can easily store a significant amount of data such as location details, manufacturer details and product numbers if any. There are three basic types of the RFID readers. Fixed readers with an external antenna which are often used at the entry points of the yards. Handheld readers are used by personnel moving through the yards or the space. Then there are mobile readers which are set on the moving vehicles and moving equipment for increasing accuracy and tracking the process ( Advantages of RFID in Transportation and Logistics , 2011). In the current times, radio frequency identification technology has upgraded from anonymity into applications that are rather used normally and as a consequence has helped in the acceleration of manufactured materials handling (Want, 2006). There are several uses of RFID in various sectors. However, this paper will only deal with its uses in the transportation sector and how effectively this modern technology has helped in the growth of business and ease for people all over the world. RFID technology has a number of applications in the domain of transportation including electronic toll collection (ETC), electronic vehicle registration (EVR), automatic ... • 11. Mail Fraud Cases The federal mail and wire fraud statutes ban plans or schemes to defraud that includes the utilization of mail or wire communications. Both condemn deceitful conduct that may likewise come surprisingly close to other federal criminal statutes. Both may serve as money laundering offenses. Both are deserving of imprisonment for not more than 20 years; for not more than 30 years, if the victim is a financial institution or the offense is committed in times of crisis. Victims in both of these situations are entitled to restitution. Both may bring about the relinquishment of property. The mail fraud statue was introduced in the early nineteenth century and the wire fraud statute is a little more recent as it was enacted in 1952. Mail fraud, by definition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this time, the United States Supreme Court expanded and contracted the reach of the mail fraud statute, finally merging the various components in Schmuck v. United States, 489 U.S. 705 (1989). From its origins in 1872 to approximately the middle of the twentieth century, the mail fraud statute s reach was considerable. It was only necessary that the scheme to defraud should be devised or intended to be devised and a letter placed in the post office for the purpose of executing the scheme or attempting to do so. The breadth of the statute was extended two years later when the United States Supreme Court held, to satisfy the mailing requirement, it is sufficient for the mailing to be incident to an essential part of the scheme or a step in the plot. This broad standard remained until Kann v. United States, 322 U.S. 88 (1944). In Kann v. United States, the defendants were corporate officers and directors who were accused of creating a dummy corporation in order to divert profits into their own pockets. As part of this fraudulent scheme, the defendants allowed the corporation to issue checks payable to the both of them. The defendants cashed the checks at local banks, which then mailed the checks to the drawee banks for collection. The court held that the mailing of the cashed checks to the drawee banks could not supply the mailing element of the mail fraud charges. The defendant s fraudulent scheme had reached fruition. It was immaterial to them, or to any consummation of the scheme, how the bank which paid or credited the check would collect from the drawee bank. The federal mail fraud statute does not purport to reach all frauds, but only those limited instances in which the use of the mails is a part of the execution of the fraud, leaving all other cases to be dealt with by appropriate state law (Kann, 323 ... I am still nervous about recording sessions with clients and having to review them. Examining recorded sessions of myself is worrisome in the sense that I have never been able to see myself communicating with someone else. I have high hopes that I am a good listener, that needs improvement. I hope by learning skills from this class I will be able to improve my skills. It will definitely be a learning experience that I am dreading but excited for at the same time. The workload of this course is going to be larger than what I was used to in undergrad, I have come to accept the reality of being a graduate student. After examining the syllabus, I noticed that the workload is not over whelming, but it will take time management skills and dedication. I have reviewed the syllabus more than once, making sure that I had an understanding of everything that is expected of me in this course. Once the prongs made contact the device pulsed 50,000 volts into the target causing uncontrollable muscle spasms and effectively immobilizing the target without killing. He came up with the name TSR, an acronym for the book in which he got his ideas from, for his invention. This classification severely hindered his sales but he managed to sell to the Los Angeles Police Department. When efforts to use the device to subdue Rodney King in 1991 failed Patrick Smith teamed up with Jack to help improve the device. Asian-American Superhero Analysis Essays, Not Rants! 244: An Asian American Superhero I wasn t sure how I felt about Silk when she first showed up in the Spider Man comics, but it was when she got her own series and a narrative no longer intrinsically tied to Peter Parker that she really came into her own. But on the on the one hand, yeah, another webslinging spider themed hero? We ve already got a lot with Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Miguel O Hara in books of their own; do we need one more? The thing is, Silk brings with it like each of the other spider books a unique story and character. Obviously, there s Silk/Cindy Moon herself. One of the things that hooked me into the book is something somewhat shallow but terribly important: Cindy is Korean American. Yes, I know, I m ranting about diversity again. But listen. There are precious few Asian superheroes, even less so with their own books. There will always be a thrill in getting to see someone who looks like you represented. But Cindy s Asian ness isn t just a lip service done through line art and surname, the story in Silk features distinctly Asian elements. For example, hotels are not only including room stay but also gaming, entertainment, shopping, comedy clubs, lounges, nail and hair salons and other activities and amenities desired by consumers.
