Financial Planning During Economic Crisis
Financial planning during this economic crisis can be very stressful and draining. I have a
limited income coming from a modest allowance that my retired husband gives me monthly.
This is supported by a meager amount that I receive from Social Security Disability benefit. I
have a mantra to stay positive on my financial outlook which gives me psychological and
spiritual strength, and this is.. In God, I Trust . Yes, and this is my adherence to the US national
motto that can be found on all currency of the United States of America, In God We Trust. By
faith, I never feel miserable even if my resources are just enough for survival. I know that there is
a Supreme Being up there who sees that my needs and that of my family are met. I wake up... Show

There is also a high tech way of bonding with my daughters without spending for airfares
because they live in Hawaii and the Philippines respectively. Thank you to SKYPE for online
communication. I also use my cellphone to call or text my son who lives here in the USA and
that helps me bond with them minus the financial concerns. 5. Use online banking I check my
daily bank balances to know where I am coming from in terms of expenditures. I also pay bills
online. Saves me time and effort and stamps. I keep track of all my debits and credits which
helps me to decipher if I got enough funds for the next bill or purchase. All of the above
suggestions prove to be effective for me and I am sure some women who are stay at home moms
whether actively working or retired can relate to it. Hopefully to stay fit financially. Its true that
health is wealth, because without proper health you would not be able to build the career you
are looking forward to . In order to be successful in life you have to make sure you are paying
attention to your body and mind, so that you perform well consistently . Every part of your body
is playing a role in the back ground silently, and its time that you paid attention to it as well . But
how can anyone stay fit while working in the office ? How can one exercise while at work ? Well,

The Impact Of Jane Addams And Civil Rights
Civil rights demonstrates that all people, no matter what race, religion, color or class, are equal
and have equal rights. Although the civil rights time period is a subject that is not talked about
much today, it was years ago when there was a lot of segregation and discrimination. There were
many African Americans who made a difference in their fight for civil rights, but not many white
people tried to make that same difference. Jane Addamswas one of the few white people who made
this effort; she had an even bigger impact on civil rights since she was female and wealthy, along
with her skin color.
Jane Addams got involved in promoting civil rights because she grew up around many
sophisticated adults that also supported it. In fact, her own father was Addams greatest influence
and she grew up only knowing what he taught her. When she was just a little girl, her father told
her that, ...it was important for those who have enough to help those who do not. (Ray, 8). This
quote shaped Addams whole life since it was based off of helping people who weren t as lucky as
her and promoting rights for all people. Another time when Addams was just a little girl, her family
helped African Americans escape from slavery using the Underground Railroad. This was one of
the first times she had seen how African Americans were treated by most of the American
population, and how dreadful their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

society is today. In the final analysis, it can be said that Jane Addams got involved at a very young

The Abolishment Of The Electoral College
The controversial presidential election of 2000, Al Gore won a majority of the popular vote, but
he did not win the electoral college votes. George W. Bush won the presidency that year and
Americans began to question the abolishment of the Electoral College (Wilcox 1). The identical
problem reappeared during the 2016 presidential election, when Donald Trump lost the popular
vote to Hillary Clinton by over 2.8 million votes, but he earned 74 votes more votes than Hillary
Clinton in the Electoral College, which resulted in Donald Trump becoming the 45th president of
The United Statesof America. Popular votes in the presidential election are more adequate and civil
for The United Statesof America because the people are casting a vote directly for the possible
future president rather than casting a vote to the electors of each state.
The United States of America does not elect its president by a popular vote, but instead uses a
process to select its leader, but it may not be the politicians a majority of voters were in favor of
(Noble 1). The establishment of the Electoral College was created in 1804 in Article II of the US
Constitution. The Electoral College was fashioned as a settlement for the presidential election
growth because politicians assumed that a popular election was too careless and would give too
much power to highly populated places in our country (Williams 1). How the Electoral College is
set up is after the popular votes from the state are

Wild Plums Essay
In today s society people are judged primarily on their looks and the amount of money that they
have. As we take a look into the short story, Wild Plums , one can agree that the primary purpose
of this short story is to illustrate how people believe they are inferior to others because of the way
they look or act. The main family in the story thinks they are too good to go pick wildplums with
the slumps and they think they are too good to be around them.
When the little girl talks about visiting the Slump s at their home, she says that they didn t use
chairs but rather sat on the floor or on boxes. When they describe how the slumps lived it always
sounds mediocre to the way they their family lives.

The Slumps would come by and offer to take the children and the parents to go plummin, but the
parents always refused to go.
All you tins pile in, Mrs. Slump called to us. Were goin plummin on the Niniscaw and stay all

They wouldn t even let their daughter go along if the parents weren t with them. The parents must
have thought the Slumps were just awful people who couldn t take care of anyone.

Marxism and the Matrix Essay
The movie, The Matrix is an outstanding example of the term Marxism . Simply put, Marxism
is the political and economic theory of Marx, advocating abolition of private property, and state
provision of work and subsistence for all, and to be a Marxist, is to follow Karl Marx s theories.
Along the lines of Marx s theories; a reality and way of life in the Matrix is maintained,
oppressed, discovered, and eventually explained. Marx advocates a violent change, and The
Matrix demonstrates this type of propaganda. The character Trinity sets the tone from the very
start with her defying antics, and Neo s role is realized; as this reality that is the Matrix is
explained. The Wachowski brothers film, The Matrix, easily lends itself to a Marxist... Show more

People have themselves become that means of production, in that their bodies have become the
energy source that keeps the economic machine running. Neo is informed by one of the rebels
that he is nothing more than a coppertop , a battery that runs the system. But he also finds hope,
because the rebels are fighting back and, as Marx had hoped, the grave diggers are going to try
to destroy the capitalistic machines. Life in the Matrix is not quite the Utopia Marx envisioned.
And we discover this by observing Mr. Anderson s daily grind, as he follows the daily routine of
a dead end job. This is not an ideal life for any man. One would want to escape, question, and
break free of this routine that is his life . As the plot of The Matrix advances, this reality is
explained. Neo eventually wakes up, and witnesses the truth a world controlled, by machines. As
he awakens to a dark desolate world, towers taller than sky scrapers surround him, loaded with
humans in a cocooned state. Machines monitor these sleeping humans who are unaware of the
truth. One of these machines quickly scans Neo, and realizes things aren t quite right with him,
and so he is released down a tube leading to a body disposal, and his possible demise. They (the
machines) obviously don t want him

Locke And His Theory Of Motivation
Here is where I first disagree with Locke and his theory of motivation of the will according to
pain and pleasure. I think this is a difficult notion to be comfortable with. To use the formula of
pleasure minus pain equals happiness is in direct conflict with Christian teachings and the
common good of all people. Locke, being a self proclaimed Christian, is revealing himself
throughout this book as actually being non Christian, and I agree with Chappell when she stated
that he was an egotist and a hedonist . He discounts the husbands that sacrifice for their wives,
the wives that sacrifice for their husbands, parents that sacrifice for their children, siblings that
sacrifice for each other, neighbors that sacrifices for neighbors, the priests that sacrifice for the
church and all people, people that sacrifice for God, and we can go on and on and on. We are all
meant to work toward the good of all and serve one another, but not for Locke. Locke says that
every intelligent Bring really seeks Happiness, which consists in the enjoyment of pleasure, without
any considerable mixtures of uneasiness . I see two was to read this excerpt. First is to take the
capital B in Bring and interpret the intelligent Being as relating to all human being and saying this
is to say all humans think that happiness is maximized pleasure and minimized pain. And to refute
this is to point back to the list of people who sacrifice pleasures and even life for the wellbeing of
others. The

Callaway Golf Case Essay
Summary: In 1998, Callaway, one of the most famous brands in the golf domain, has
experienced its first loss of $ 27 million after 10 years of growth. To resolve this problem, Ely
Callaway, the founder of this company, wondered if CGC (Callaway Golf Company) would have
to revise the way it approached retailer relationships to raise more mutually beneficial. To address
possible market confusion, should the communication strategy shift? In fall 1999, Callaway faced
amount of questions; the answers would guide him in refocusing CGC s retail channels, new
product development, and marketingstrategies.

2. Like Nike and Adidas, Callaway has become a well known golf brand that customers have
treated it as a professional sign. So there is difficulty for the new brand to threaten Callaway s
current market.
Power of suppliers:
1. As the case mentioned, Callaway adjusted the wholesale prices of Big Bertha metal woods rather
infrequently because they are confident in their own products with so many efforts on budget and
R D. They strongly believed that after using the products, customers would understand and accept
the reason why their products prices were higher than others .
2. Callaway spent lots of money on R D, and that was why the prices were higher. So, for
beginning golf customers, buying new Callaway clubs was a daunting task, even if Callaway s
target market aimed at the average golf player rather than professional golf player.
Powers of buyers:
1. CGC s target market Average golfers (defined as playing 10 rounds minimum per year),
generally had handicaps above 18, and bought new equipment every two to three years.
2. Compare with woods and irons, putters were relatively inexpensive at around $100 each.
Because putting was viewed as the most critical aspect to the game and because most golfers were
weak putters, they tended to update their putters fairly frequently and with less product research. In
fact, many golfers owned five or more different putters

`` Belle Isle `` By James Scott Memorial Fountain
Belle Isle has been a point of controversy for Detroiters for as long as it has existed. The public
park once was a point of protest in 1940, when an argument over a canoe led to the police beating
of a black man. The beautiful James Scott memorial fountain, which stands as a major attraction
on Belle Isle to this day, is no exception, and was the subject of much scrutiny. The ideals of
Detroiters, and their working spirit is a stark contrast to those of James Scott, and the fountain is
not at all representative of who they are. Although the James Scott Memorial may fulfill its
purposes as a centerpiece for the island and as an everlasting tribute to Scott, it is not representative
of Detroit, its principles, or its people. James Scott was a wealthy man, born in 1831, who
inherited a large sum of money from his father. He then used that wealth to invest into real estate,
and made his fortune. His methods were often less than savory, and according to reports, Scott
tried to intimidate his competitors and, if that did not succeed, he sued them. Although Scott s
methods were not the best, they were not illegal, as many assumed. In response to allegations that
the money used was tainted, one of Scott s few colleagues publicly responded in a newspaper,
saying that The [illegible] that Mr. Scott possessed at the time of his death was left to him by his
father, Judge Scott, who died about 60 years ago... He further elaborated that instead of squandering

The Cause Of Maternal Death Worldwide
Abstract Maternal sepsis is preventable, yet remains the leading cause of maternal death worldwide,
according to a study published in 2013 (Acosta Knight, 2013). Early recognition of symptoms and
implementation of correct treatment is key to prevent mortality. A break in nursing education can
prevent prompt treatment to patients. Given that pregnant women are more vulnerable to infection
and susceptible to serious complications, makes a clear understanding of maternal sepsis
imperative (Joseph, Sinha, Paech, Walters, 2009). The purpose of this project was to determine if
there is a need on Memorial Hospital s LDRP unit for more education related to maternal sepsis.

Even though sepsis is a major contributor to maternal mortality, septic shock in pregnancy
fortunately is relatively rare, affecting only 0.002% to 0.010% of all births (Dutra Olvera, 2016).
Regardless of how low the statistics, maternal mortality happens and the preparedness of units
will influence a positive outcome. A needs assessment identifies the discrepancy between the
present knowledge and the desired knowledge to develop protocols and education which will
bridge the gap between the what is and what should be . The needs assessment developed for the
23 staff members on the small LDRP unit of Memorial Hospital focused on what the end
knowledge base should be. Questions were formulated after an extensive literature review, focusing
on early recognition, definitions and specifics for care. This needs assessment will help implement
protocols that will improve the care provided, as well as the comfort of the staff members face to
face with perinatal mothers.
Review of Literature Critical management of maternal sepsis is key in preventing mortality and
identifying a patient at risk can help with initiation of management. There are many risk factors of
sepsis during pregnancy. Hashmi and Khan (2014) identified that pregnant women are highly
susceptible to infection due to the maternal immune response being decreased. Some of the risk
factors named included cesarean

Personal Ethical Argument
The set of personal ethical principles which I live by are comprised of a belief in absolute right
and wrong, man s duty to obey God, and also his duty to love his neighbor as himself; each of
these principles were formed by a Faith in God and in the Bible. The principle of absolute right
and wrong was constructed through understanding that if right and wrong were contingent on
man s opinions and attitudes, then both laws and guidelines would become pointless.
Furthermore, God shows that right and wrong are absolute and not contingent on man when He
states His warning, Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for
light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20). In addition
to this principle, I also came to believe that man is called to obey God for several reasons: He is all
powerful, He created man to give Himself glory, and He desires what is best for us. Like the two
previous ethical principles, loving one s neighbor as himself, was constructed out of a faith in
God and in His infallible Word. Man is called to perform this practice because, as the Bible states,
God ... first loved us. (1 John 4:19)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, one also may improve in identifying which actions are right and wrong in moral
dilemmas. An example of this would be when I considered quitting my youth group band.
Although I loved my role in the group, it was wrong for me to continue; it was hypocritical to be
in a leadership role with an unclean heart. By understanding that right and wrong are absolute, I
knew that it did not matter if it was me or another person, it was wrong. Because of this reality, I
quit the band until I became right with

Aloe Vera, And The Vitality Of Youth Essay
Aloe Vera, also called simply Aloe, is a flowering, cactus like succulent plan that thrives in dry,
hot climates, and is believed to be at least 6,000 years old. Kumari is the Ayurvedic name for
aloe, and is translated as the vitality of youth (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 66). Native to Africa (
Aloe, 2016), it is grown in tropical and sub tropical areas ( Aloe UMMC, 2015). Different parts
of the plant have different uses. The leaves, which are thick (cactus like) and fibrous, have three
layers. The central pulp contains gel that is extracted for use both topical and internal use (Chopra
Simon, 2000, p. 67). The fibrous part of the plant is used to make a laxative from the Aloe latex
that is extracted. Some products are made using the whole crushed leaf, and contain the latex and
gel ( Aloe WebMD, 2016).
The gel made from Aloe Vera, either pure or as part of a mixture, is commonly used in moisturizing
products for skin, is often included in sun block/sunscreen ( Aloe, 2016).
It also has a wide variety of medicinal purposes, including burns, wounds, skin irritations, and
constipation both historically and currently. Recently, it has not been recommended for use as a
laxative. Today, Aloe is still one of the most common herbs used for a multitude of purposes ( Aloe
UMMC, 2015, para. 1). It is also considered as a tonic for the liver (Lad, 2009, p. 130).
The Aloe Vera plant is also known as the burn plant (Dossey Keegan, 2016, p. 374) and, as

The Rising Tide of Postmodern Consumerism
Taylor University professor, Michael Jessup, in his article The Rising Tide of Postmodern
Consumerism addresses the issues of consumerism in the postmodern world its consequences on
both a personal, social and a global level.
In his article, Jessup first expounds the postmodern phenomenon of consumerism, whose nature he
criticizes, labelling it as superficial, selfish, and decadent. He then elaborates on the role that
consumerism plays in the postmodern individual s life, defining it as a manifestation of both one s
fundamental need to consume, and an inclination to shape and express one s identity through
material goods. Jessup continues by declaring reenchantment as postmodern consumerism s main ...

The Egyptian gods were important to the people and there were over 2,000 of them. The more
famous gods like Amun Ra, Mut, Osiris, and Horus had bigger roles than most of the gods but
they were equally as important. Different classes of people would worship different gods, and
worshiped them in different ways. Amun Ra was called The Hidden One. Amun had many names
and served several roles. The different ways to spell his name were Amun Ra, Amen Ra, Amon Re,
and Ammon Ra. There are two parts to this god. Amanuet was the female version of Amun Ra,
and Ra was the male version. Amun Ra s first role was known as Patron Saint of the Ancient
Egyptian City of Thebs, which is where he gained popularity by merging with Ra. His second
role was to be King of Upper Egyptian Gods. He was considered one of the most important
Egyptian gods, second to Osiris. Amunet and Amun both combined to be the kings of gods and
goddesses. The Greeks equaled him with Zeus, and Romans equaled him with Jupiter. His third
role was creative power to give life, and he was responsible for all life on Earth. Amun Ra was first

Uniform Child Kidnapping Essay
My will free fell towards faltering before swept with the memory of my ex husband stealing my
baby. While I was locked in the Tennessee State Women s Correctional Facility serving six
months on a trumped up shoplifting charge, he took my baby and got a court order granting him
legal custody. I slid open the window and lift my son from his crib, carry him from the apartment,
and drive him cross country. There I would file for custody and my darling son and I would be
together forever. Frank Cracchiolo created the scenario above to show the crimeof kidnapping and
depict the mindset of a parent whose child was taken by the law and appointed to the other parent.
The mother that removed her baby from her ex husband, believed that she had no other choice but
to kidnap her child and file for custody. For a child s custody, it was traditionally decided by a

promulgating uniform rules for the assertion of jurisdiction over child custody cases (DeMelis,

strike back against this crime, so they believed that to enhance the uniformity of jurisdictional cases
another act must be passed to improve the current model (DeMelis, 1975). The Parental Kidnapping
Prevention Act (PKPA) was enacted and the focus of this act was to relieve conflicts within the
interstate, deter from interstate kidnappings, and create a cooperation between states in custody
matters (NCPOFFC). The UCCJA and PKPA were tools to deter parental kidnapping and they
established a criterion that all states should follow when making a custody decision. Although this

When reading a piece of literature, a reader often finds many symbolic objects speckled throughout
the text. Some of these symbolic objects may be quite obvious to distinguish, while others may be
tucked away deep within the text. Whether the symbolism of the object is apparent to the reader or
not the author places them in the story to elevate the power of the text. In Truman Capotes Breakfast
at Tiffany s and Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, there are a plethora of symbolic objects that hold a
deeper meaning then what appears on the surface. Capote and Plath two diverse authors, fill their
novels with a plethora of dynamic objects, such as a bird cage, a bell jar, a mirror, an unnamed cat

Much to the narrator s surprise during a Christmas celebration Holly tells him: Look in the
bedroom. There s a present for you (Capote 59). The present that Holly has waiting for the narrator
is the bird cage. Despite her dislike for the birdcage and its sense of confinement, Holly presents
the narrator with the bird cage under one condition; she doesn t want the narrator to ever hold an
animal captive in it. The narrator returns the birdcage to Holly because it costs too much saying,
The money! Three hundred and fifty dollars (59).Since the bird cage is a symbol of confinement
for Holly, she gets rid of it out, not wanting it lingering in her apartment. She gets rid of the bird
cage due to the fear it gives her of being trapped like she was at Doc s house in Tulip, Texas. Doc,
the husband Holly never talks about, is believed to have made Holly live a tightly confined life
in Texas. Her time of confinement in Texas is the reason Holly choose to leave and live a free
spirited life in New York City. Capote has used the bird cage to elevate the power of the novel, by
developing the concept that Holly views herself as a type of wild animal that has a fear of
commitment and confinement.
In comparison to Capote s idea of a bird cage symbolizing a fear of being held captive, Plath uses a
fairly different object to also symbolize how someone can feel imprisoned in his or her own body.

was assigned to a group with one of my best friends and two boys who were known for their lack

that we were not a team. It was clear to my friend and I that this was going to be a tough process
because we knew the history that these two boys had with contributing to the work needed by
each teammate. Both boys were well known to the teachers as well because they were two of
the high school s biggest troublemakers. One would assume the situation could have been
helped, but that is not that case. We began our project and noticed that the boys preferred to talk
about things that did not matter to the assignment and not to begin working on their half of the
project. In an attempt to bring their attention back to the task at hand, we tried many things over
one class period. First, we tried multiple times, just telling the boys that we needed to get our
work done, which failed every time and resulted in arguments. Then, we decided to tell our
teacher that we felt the boys were not willing to participate and were worried that their disregard
for the class and our team s goals would affect our individual grades for the project. Instead of

Urban Real Estate Economics And Juxtaposes Them With...
THEORETICAL BACKGROUND
This paper discusses and analyses modern theories of urban real estate economics and juxtaposes
them with traditional theories. In earlier times, city life used to revolve around a central business
district (CBD) which was the nerve centre of all economic, social and cultural activity. As a result,
real estate prices reflected the proximity of the site to the CBD and they dropped the further one
went from it. The dichotomy is often expressed through architecture, with high rise apartment
buildings in the city and low rise developments further out. Alonso, 1964; Mills, 1972 and Muth,
1969 mulled on this model of cities and viewed real estate economic data and ran studies through
the lens of a monocentric urban ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is based on the law of diminishing returns that over time, produce from a certain land parcel
will decline in quantity and quality, yielding lower and lower profits, while at the same time,
pressure on the land in the form of population will always rise. As it is the amount paid by the
lessee for the indestructible powers of the land, different parcels with different fertility capacities
will command different rents. As the amount of land is finite, the cost of production will also keep
rising. Applying this theory to urban real estate, a monocentric city would have finite space for
development due to which costs of construction will rise, passing on the burden to the buyer.
Von Thunen, on the other hand, concerned himself with location and transportation costs in
addition to fertility as factors determining price. He attributed differential rents to distances between
places with desirable qualities and the costs of transporting oneself between them. At its most basic,
the theory stands for the hypothesis that without the need for proximity and the price (rent) charged
for it, land would be an almost free good.
For two residential locations to have near identical prices, not only must they be located close to
each other, but they must also provide the same level of utility to residents. This is because the
decisions of location

A Study On Rapid Evolution
4.Introduction:
a.I have learned that rapid evolution has expanded exceedingly. Zuk shows this with an example of
the average size of fish being way much smaller due to fishermen causing the fish to reproduce
earlier than they normally do. Due to this, evolution regulated the growth and size of the fish
variously, thus their sexual maturity became different.
b.Another thing that I have learned from the introduction is that evolving quickly is not always a
good thing. When evolution occurs too fast, there s only a small percentage of the population that
survives while the rest of the population disintegrates. An example of this is the Black Death, where
the death rates were about 95%. Thus, only the fittest were able to survive the ... Show more content

I was able to understand that we are not at the peak of evolution due to this, and we still have time
to evolve more.
Chapter 2:
a.One thing that caught my interest was learning that due to the modification in our diet with
agriculture, disease became more prominent. This shows what happened when we decided to go to
crops and civilization for our source of food versus going for the traditional hunter gatherer role our
ancestors once possessed. I thought this was a very interesting fact to learn.
b.Another interesting thing is that the level of fitness for individuals could possibly get worse in
the future. This is because our population is stuck and not adapting to the environments we are in.
An effect of this could mean that we are not suited for the environment we are in, and we still
have to evolve more so we can be more adaptive.
Chapter 3:
a.Some interesting information I learned was that evolution can occur quickly in the wild. Zuk
demonstrated an example of this with a species of crickets that she had observed before. In fewer
than 5 years, the male crickets had lost their ability to produce sound due to the rapid evolution of
parasitic flies affecting the apparatus thus rendering the males. This was an example of one of the
fastest cases of evolution. Knowing this allows me to understand that evolution occurring more
quickly for one species could affect the evolution of another species.

Presumed Innocent Essay
Presumed Innocent
Innocent until proven guilty has been an important mantra in US law. The burden of proof remains
on the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty. This principle
guides the premise that wrongly accusing the incident is a greater harm than not punishing the
guilty, and sets a clean slate to build on in the minds of the Judge and jury. Additionally, this
principle protects from unreasonable accusations assuming that significant evidence must be
present first.
Opposite of this philosophy would be guilty until proven innocent. In societies following this
philosophy the accused must jump through hurdles to prove they are indeed innocent. Imagine, for
example, you come home after a long day, flop down on the couch and fall asleep watching TV.
Suddenly, bursting into the room comes the police, arresting you for robbing the convenience store
down the street. You were there, you were asleep, but how do you prove this, the clerk said you did
it. How do you proceed? Unjustly charged, potentially punished, having the presumption of
innocence would have protected you.
While Presumed Innocent is the mantra in the courts, it rarely is practiced in the court of public
opinion. As seen in the movie Presumed Innocent the lead character, Rozat Sabich, was charged
with a highly publicized murder. Being a public figure in the midst of an election, his arrest was
publicized heavily in the media. As the story leaked out, and

The Importance of Classifying and Distinguishing Between Independent Contractors and Employee
s
Briggs, Latisha J.
National University
Abstract Through this paper we will explore the importance of distinguishings classifications
between independent contractors and employees. We will examine identifying established
relationship between employers and workers while covering assigned roles of employees and
independent contractors. We will briefly discuss enacted laws and recommended practices to avoid
misclassification penalties and consequences. Lastly, we will explore vital factors that should be
considered while classifying workers.
The Importance of Distinguishing Classification Between Independent Contractors and Employees
Determining the classification between an independent contractor and an employee proves to be
rather complex, yet vital, regarding tax issues. Therefore, assigning correct classification is critical
to both employer and workers that carry out the labor, especially pertaining to benefits and tax
payment obligations. Organizations that classify their workers as employees assume financial
responsibility for them. Hartman asserts this by stating that, the distinction, however, is significant
for tax law compliance and categorization, for benefit plans, for cost reduction plans, and for
discrimination claims (Bennett Alexander, Hartman, 2012). Specifically, the employer s

Use, Function, And Meaning Of The Particle
The Use, Function, and Meaning of the Particle Lah in Manglish (Malaysian English) and Singlish
(Singaporean English)
1. Introduction Manglish and Singlish are English based creoles spoken in Malaysia and Singapore
in South East Asia. A portmanteau of the words Malaysian and English (for Manglish) and
Singaporean English (for Singlish), both these creoles borrow heavily from the other languages e.g.
Malay, Mandarin Chinese, Tamil, etc. spoken in Malaysiaand Singapore while using English as
the base language (McArthur 57, Broadbent Vavilova 144). As a Malaysian, one of the most
common utterances in spoken Manglish and Singlish is the use of the particle lah in daily
conversations (Goddard 1). For the purpose of this paper, I plan to delve deeper into the use,
function, and meaning of lah in Malaysian conversations. In The English of Singapore and
Malaysia, Tongue equates meaning with function in his discussion of lah (114 115). He proposes,
The range of meanings it possesses is prodigious; depending upon the way it is pronounced, it can
function as an intensifying particle, as a marker of informal style, as a signal of intimacy, for
persuading, deriding, wheedling, rejection and a host of other purposes. (114 115) I hope to
demonstrate the complexity behind the use of lah by showing that a Malaysian s ethnicity, region
that they are from, and mother tongue spoken, affects the way they use lah, and the function and

National Guidelines for Nursing Delegation. Assigning tasks would involve performing routine
care, activities, and procedures that are within the authorized scope or practice of the LVN or part
of the routine functions of the UAP. Delegating tasks on the other hand is defined as allowing a

Providing care to clients is more complex than just providing care. It requires the use of the
nursing process, knowledge in what to do with that process as well as being able to adapt and
comply with the continuous changes in rules, regulations and standards of care in health care. If all
of those factors are not enough, let us not forget about the changes in the evolving nursing
workforce. Many factors will influence the ability to comply with all regulations and standards. As
stated in the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis report from December 2014. Some
factors include: population growth, aging of the population, overall economic conditions, aging of
the nursing workforce, and changes in health care reimbursement. Therefore, delegation should be
used as a tool in helping the licensed nurse, as it plays a vital role in being able to provide
appropriate nursing care to the highest

Privacy In Law Enforcement Essay
In law enforcement, protecting lives, safeguarding property, and reducing crime is constantly
challenged by increasingly sophisticated criminal activities. Governments and law enforcement
agencies strive to stay ahead of offenders and ensure the safety of law enforcement professionals
relying more and more on rapidly changing technology. In car camera systems, for example, are
now valuable tools used to ensure and validate a high degree of officer professionalism (Schultz,
2016). But as criminal activities and technology changes, so does society s views on justice. Issues
related to Constitutional protections and citizens privacy as well as how defendants and victims
are treated have been debated for a long time in the U.S. ( 21st Century , n.d.). Privacy, especially,
is a sensitive but pertinent subject in law enforcementas the use of new technologies heighten
concerns about adequate safeguards and misuse of information. Genetic information, such as...

The Antisocial Factor is a gene associated with an increased risk of antisocial behavior ( The
ASF Gene , n.d.). Persons with the gene are four times more likely to commit a felony from the
ages of 18 30. Although the gene may predict a person s propensity for criminal behavior, the
government should not make testing mandatory. Just because people might have the genetic trait
does not mean they will actually participate in criminal behavior. People who inherit the sickle
cell trait from their parents, for example, may not ever display any symptoms of the disease and
live normal lives ( Sickle Cell , 2015). In addition, a study by Appelbaum and Scurich (2014)
revealed that sharing a defendant s genetic predispositions could be stigmatizing. Since people tend
to link violence with metal disorders, it creates a social distance possibly resulting in more punitive
findings and more jail time for

A parallel force includes at least two forces where all lines of action are parallel.
(c) Explain the difference between point loads and uniformly distributed loads. Include annotated
pictorial diagrams
Point Load In the field of engineering, a point load is a load applied to a single, specific point on
a structural member. It is also known as a concentrated load, and an example of it would be a
hammer hitting a single nail into a beam.
Uniformly Distributed Load A UDL, or a uniformly distributed load, has a constant value, for
example, 1kN/m; hence the uniform distribution of the load. Each uniformly distributed load can
be changed to a simple point force that can be used to determine the stresses in an object. A
uniformly distributed load can be drawn by using arrows and lines. First, the vectors must be drawn
along where the load acts and must be connected with tails. A single line must connect the vectors
together and represent the force point. The line should be horizontal.
What is the difference between a Point Load and a Uniformly Distributed Load?
A point load is a load which acts over a small distance. Because of concentration over small distance
this load may be considered as acting on a point. Point load is denoted by P and symbol of point
load is arrow heading downward whereas a distributed load is one that acts over a considerable
length or you can say over a length which is

The Resilience Of Energy Supply Chain
INTRODUCTION
In the era of globalisation supply chains are getting more lengthy and complex hence they are now
more vulnerable to disruptions. The resilience of energy supply chain by Luca Urciuoli, Sangeeta
Mohanty, Juha Hintsa and Else Gerine Boekesteijn Accepted on 24 September,2013 takes in
account how various companies take preventions against supply chain disruptions or security
threats and how they manage their supply chain in case a disruption occurs, it also exchanges views
on European union support mechanisms and interactions with the oil and gas companies along with
the improvements that can be made by the union in order to make supply chains more robust . In

As suggested by the article to keep reserve stocks for up to 90 days of supply. For example, in Baji
a major oil refinery was set on fire by ISIS forces who were controlling this refinery in the past.
This oil refinery was one o the major oil production companies in the country. In such cases
small safety stocks will finish in a few days, so only keeping reserve stocks may not be the
solution . World s 60 percent oil reserves are in middle east where these types of incidents occur
(Critchlow, 2015).Deciding the perfect amount of safety stock is very critical and depends on
various factors like company sales ,forecasts and transportation risks.
In case of natural disaster or a major disruptions various strategies can be used to prevent loses.
As the article suggests alternate product design can be used in case of disruption ,this approach is
practical and was used by many companies in the past. For instance, In March,2000 after a major
electronic company caught fire in Mexico both Nokia and Ericson were facing component shortage
. Instead of waiting for the product Nokia changed the product design and sourced different
component from other suppliers while Ericson on the other hand lost millions because of this

Avon Longitudes Study
This study evaluated offspring exposure to depression and anxiety during gestation and how
these disorders effected their behavioral and emotional development from mid to early
childhood (Les, J., Heron, J., Stuart, E., Mendelson, T., 2013). The study used The Avon
Longitudes Study of Parents and children, which evaluated a cohort of 14, 541 pregnancies and
13,988 live children. Women ranged between the ages of 16 to 40 years of age, with the mean
age at 29.1(SD 4.4). The participants consisted of mostly (98.9%) married (83.55), white (98.9%)

gestation, then at 8 weeks to 8 months postpartum and last childhood from ages 21, 33, 61, 73
months to 11 years old. This assessment used a 10 item measure of depression that ranged from
0 to 30 with a cut off score of 13. Women scoring above the cut off were classified as having
symptoms of depression. The second measurement, the Crown Crips Experimental Index (CCEI),

The Service Marketing Mix Should Now
In today s world, the service sector dominates the different economies of developed and developing
nations. Services require different management activities, it differs a lot from the marketing of
goods (Berry, 1980). Indeed, services are considered as intangible, variable and perishable
(marketingteacher.com). Thus, we can say that the traditional 4 p s are not sufficient anymore.
Indeed, the servicemarketing mix should now include three other elements, which are the physical
evidence, the people and finally, the service process (learnmarketing.net). In addition, we can say
that the marketing of goods is not as critical as the management of services quality, which occurs
through the monitoring of customer satisfaction. In contrary to the marketing of goods which is
more focused on the physical product component, services require a certain customer loyalty, this
implying having good service marketing skills.
In this essay, a general framework on the applicability of the theatre metaphor to the services will
be discussed. Key concepts and also the underpinnings of the drama metaphor will be presented.
To do so, models acquired in class will be used, as well as relevant references from textbook.
I)Value of services marketing:
In today s world, almost all the companies operate in markets, which are considered by an excess
of supply. Thus, if a customer were not satisfied by a specific service provided by a company, he
would probably move to find another company, which

The, The Melting Pot, And The World
Culture is described as the set of beliefs, customs, ways of thinking and behaving that exists in a
particular society. Meanwhile, the act of having a sense of reality can be described as knowing
the world or the state of things as they exist. Reality has a flimsy definition because one s own
reality could be different compared to another. However, a person s culturewill affect how they think
and thus manipulate their perception of reality. Common examples of this are: route of upbringing,
political views, holistic medicinal approaches and most importantly, religion. The United States of
America has many different cultures present throughout the entire nation. That is why it is
commonly referred to as the melting pot of the world. This being said, people raised in different
parts of the United States will be apart of different cultures and thus different senses of reality.
Someone raised in the South will have a different culture than someone raised in the North.
While this doesn t completely alter their sense of reality, it does affect it. Even two neighbors
will have different senses of reality because in general, upbringing affects reality. Being
optimistic will create opportunities and also impact how to live your life on a day to day basis
(Creagan). In indian culture, a symptom of being lonely likely reflects a sense of social
marginalization, (Watters 518). The sense of reality Indians posses and what they feel as the truth
of being lonely is impacted by

Literary Analysis Of Rocket Boys
Literary Analysis Essay
Wenchang Richardson
Core 2
Analysis Essay
Back in the days, the job you get mostly depends on what family you are born into. For example
during Rocket Boys by Homer H. Hickam Jr, the setting takes place in Coalwood West Virginia
where Sonny is expected to be a miner when he grows up because everyone in Coalwood and his
father s side has a job that does something the mines. However, when his mom tells him to get out
of Coalwood Sonny decides to become a rocket scientist against his father s desires, this results in
his dad being disappointed in him. Pushing this aside as if it didn t matter at all though Sonny
continues his journey to change Coalwood forever while on the way making his dad see that he is
worth more than being a miner when he got out of his high school years.
Even though all the people in Coalwood are miners, Sonny decides to be a different person so he
decides that he and his groups of friends will build rockets. When he does this it makes his dad
upset with him, and even tried to make him stop by dumping his chemicals. All this did for
Sonny was make his even more determined to build and launch rockets. His first three rockets
were good but then that fourth one when into the mine. Looks like your son wants to be a rocket
scientist. He doesn t know what he wants to be, but I do know what he is Dad said pg 94 The
thing that this quote really tells is that this action makes his dad upset. If it just ended here the
rest of the story would be the same. I would be a very boring memoir of how he gave up and
became a miner. Yet I can tell you that this didn t happen. Instead, Sonny kept on launching and
making rockets while his dad became more and more upset. When Sonny kept on not giving up it
lead him to win the national science fair, and this finally made his dad proud of him. He achieved
by being what he wants, and not letting people stop him.
Determined to prove that he can do better than what his dad says about him leads him on a big
journey of scary, and dangerous things as he does his rocket activities. Earlier that day he saw
Sputnik, and this made him interested in rockets. When he made his first rocket he knew it would
be dangerous. In fact, when he launched the

  • 3. The Impact Of Jane Addams And Civil Rights Civil rights demonstrates that all people, no matter what race, religion, color or class, are equal and have equal rights. Although the civil rights time period is a subject that is not talked about much today, it was years ago when there was a lot of segregation and discrimination. There were many African Americans who made a difference in their fight for civil rights, but not many white people tried to make that same difference. Jane Addamswas one of the few white people who made this effort; she had an even bigger impact on civil rights since she was female and wealthy, along with her skin color. Jane Addams got involved in promoting civil rights because she grew up around many sophisticated adults that also supported it. In fact, her own father was Addams greatest influence and she grew up only knowing what he taught her. When she was just a little girl, her father told her that, ...it was important for those who have enough to help those who do not. (Ray, 8). This quote shaped Addams whole life since it was based off of helping people who weren t as lucky as her and promoting rights for all people. Another time when Addams was just a little girl, her family helped African Americans escape from slavery using the Underground Railroad. • 6. The Abolishment Of The Electoral College The controversial presidential election of 2000, Al Gore won a majority of the popular vote, but he did not win the electoral college votes. George W. Bush won the presidency that year and Americans began to question the abolishment of the Electoral College (Wilcox 1). The identical problem reappeared during the 2016 presidential election, when Donald Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by over 2.8 million votes, but he earned 74 votes more votes than Hillary Clinton in the Electoral College, which resulted in Donald Trump becoming the 45th president of The United Statesof America. Popular votes in the presidential election are more adequate and civil for The United Statesof America because the people are casting a vote directly for the possible future president rather than casting a vote to the electors of each state. The United States of America does not elect its president by a popular vote, but instead uses a process to select its leader, but it may not be the politicians a majority of voters were in favor of (Noble 1). The establishment of the Electoral College was created in 1804 in Article II of the US Constitution. The Electoral College was fashioned as a settlement for the presidential election growth because politicians assumed that a popular election was too careless and would give too much power to highly populated places in our country (Williams 1). • 10. Marxism and the Matrix Essay The movie, The Matrix is an outstanding example of the term Marxism . Simply put, Marxism is the political and economic theory of Marx, advocating abolition of private property, and state provision of work and subsistence for all, and to be a Marxist, is to follow Karl Marx s theories. Along the lines of Marx s theories; a reality and way of life in the Matrix is maintained, oppressed, discovered, and eventually explained. Marx advocates a violent change, and The Matrix demonstrates this type of propaganda. Neo is informed by one of the rebels that he is nothing more than a coppertop , a battery that runs the system. Life in the Matrix is not quite the Utopia Marx envisioned. And we discover this by observing Mr. Anderson s daily grind, as he follows the daily routine of a dead end job. This is not an ideal life for any man. One would want to escape, question, and break free of this routine that is his life . As the plot of The Matrix advances, this reality is explained. • 11. Locke And His Theory Of Motivation Here is where I first disagree with Locke and his theory of motivation of the will according to pain and pleasure. I think this is a difficult notion to be comfortable with. To use the formula of pleasure minus pain equals happiness is in direct conflict with Christian teachings and the common good of all people. Locke, being a self proclaimed Christian, is revealing himself throughout this book as actually being non Christian, and I agree with Chappell when she stated that he was an egotist and a hedonist . He discounts the husbands that sacrifice for their wives, the wives that sacrifice for their husbands, parents that sacrifice for their children, siblings that sacrifice for each other, neighbors that sacrifices for neighbors, the priests that sacrifice for the church and all people, people that sacrifice for God, and we can go on and on and on. We are all meant to work toward the good of all and serve one another, but not for Locke. Locke says that every intelligent Bring really seeks Happiness, which consists in the enjoyment of pleasure, without any considerable mixtures of uneasiness . I see two was to read this excerpt. First is to take the capital B in Bring and interpret the intelligent Being as relating to all human being and saying this is to say all humans think that happiness is maximized pleasure and minimized pain. And to refute this is to point back to the list of people who sacrifice pleasures and even life for the wellbeing of others. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To address possible market confusion, should the communication strategy shift? In fall 1999, Callaway faced amount of questions; the answers would guide him in refocusing CGC s retail channels, new product development, and marketingstrategies. Like Nike and Adidas, Callaway has become a well known golf brand that customers have treated it as a professional sign. So there is difficulty for the new brand to threaten Callaway s current market. Power of suppliers: 1. As the case mentioned, Callaway adjusted the wholesale prices of Big Bertha metal woods rather infrequently because they are confident in their own products with so many efforts on budget and R D. They strongly believed that after using the products, customers would understand and accept the reason why their products prices were higher than others . 2. Callaway spent lots of money on R D, and that was why the prices were higher. So, for beginning golf customers, buying new Callaway clubs was a daunting task, even if Callaway s target market aimed at the average golf player rather than professional golf player. Powers of buyers: 1. CGC s target market Average golfers (defined as playing 10 rounds minimum per year), generally had handicaps above 18, and bought new equipment every two to three years. 2. Compare with woods and irons, putters were relatively inexpensive at around $100 each. • 13. `` Belle Isle `` By James Scott Memorial Fountain Belle Isle has been a point of controversy for Detroiters for as long as it has existed. The public park once was a point of protest in 1940, when an argument over a canoe led to the police beating of a black man. The beautiful James Scott memorial fountain, which stands as a major attraction on Belle Isle to this day, is no exception, and was the subject of much scrutiny. The ideals of Detroiters, and their working spirit is a stark contrast to those of James Scott, and the fountain is not at all representative of who they are. Although the James Scott Memorial may fulfill its purposes as a centerpiece for the island and as an everlasting tribute to Scott, it is not representative of Detroit, its principles, or its people. James Scott was a wealthy man, born in 1831, who inherited a large sum of money from his father. He then used that wealth to invest into real estate, and made his fortune. His methods were often less than savory, and according to reports, Scott tried to intimidate his competitors and, if that did not succeed, he sued them. Although Scott s methods were not the best, they were not illegal, as many assumed. In response to allegations that the money used was tainted, one of Scott s few colleagues publicly responded in a newspaper, saying that The [illegible] that Mr. Scott possessed at the time of his death was left to him by his father, Judge Scott, who died about 60 years ago... • 14. The Cause Of Maternal Death Worldwide Abstract Maternal sepsis is preventable, yet remains the leading cause of maternal death worldwide, according to a study published in 2013 (Acosta Knight, 2013). Early recognition of symptoms and implementation of correct treatment is key to prevent mortality. A break in nursing education can prevent prompt treatment to patients. Given that pregnant women are more vulnerable to infection and susceptible to serious complications, makes a clear understanding of maternal sepsis imperative (Joseph, Sinha, Paech, Walters, 2009). The purpose of this project was to determine if there is a need on Memorial Hospital s LDRP unit for more education related to maternal sepsis. Even though sepsis is a major contributor to maternal mortality, septic shock in pregnancy fortunately is relatively rare, affecting only 0.002% to 0.010% of all births (Dutra Olvera, 2016). Regardless of how low the statistics, maternal mortality happens and the preparedness of units will influence a positive outcome. A needs assessment identifies the discrepancy between the present knowledge and the desired knowledge to develop protocols and education which will bridge the gap between the what is and what should be . The needs assessment developed for the 23 staff members on the small LDRP unit of Memorial Hospital focused on what the end knowledge base should be. Questions were formulated after an extensive literature review, focusing on early recognition, definitions and specifics for care. This needs assessment will help implement protocols that will improve the care provided, as well as the comfort of the staff members face to face with perinatal mothers. Review of Literature Critical management of maternal sepsis is key in preventing mortality and identifying a patient at risk can help with initiation of management. • 15. Personal Ethical Argument The set of personal ethical principles which I live by are comprised of a belief in absolute right and wrong, man s duty to obey God, and also his duty to love his neighbor as himself; each of these principles were formed by a Faith in God and in the Bible. The principle of absolute right and wrong was constructed through understanding that if right and wrong were contingent on man s opinions and attitudes, then both laws and guidelines would become pointless. Furthermore, God shows that right and wrong are absolute and not contingent on man when He states His warning, Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20). In addition to this principle, I also came to believe that man is called to obey God for several reasons: He is all powerful, He created man to give Himself glory, and He desires what is best for us. Like the two previous ethical principles, loving one s neighbor as himself, was constructed out of a faith in God and in His infallible Word. Native to Africa ( Aloe, 2016), it is grown in tropical and sub tropical areas ( Aloe UMMC, 2015). Different parts of the plant have different uses. The leaves, which are thick (cactus like) and fibrous, have three layers. The central pulp contains gel that is extracted for use both topical and internal use (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 67). The fibrous part of the plant is used to make a laxative from the Aloe latex that is extracted. Some products are made using the whole crushed leaf, and contain the latex and gel ( Aloe WebMD, 2016). The gel made from Aloe Vera, either pure or as part of a mixture, is commonly used in moisturizing products for skin, is often included in sun block/sunscreen ( Aloe, 2016). It also has a wide variety of medicinal purposes, including burns, wounds, skin irritations, and constipation both historically and currently. Recently, it has not been recommended for use as a laxative. Today, Aloe is still one of the most common herbs used for a multitude of purposes ( Aloe UMMC, 2015, para. 1). It is also considered as a tonic for the liver (Lad, 2009, p. 130). The Aloe Vera plant is also known as the burn plant (Dossey Keegan, 2016, p. 374) and, as mentioned ... THEORETICAL BACKGROUND This paper discusses and analyses modern theories of urban real estate economics and juxtaposes them with traditional theories. In earlier times, city life used to revolve around a central business district (CBD) which was the nerve centre of all economic, social and cultural activity. As a result, real estate prices reflected the proximity of the site to the CBD and they dropped the further one went from it. The dichotomy is often expressed through architecture, with high rise apartment buildings in the city and low rise developments further out. Alonso, 1964; Mills, 1972 and Muth, 1969 mulled on this model of cities and viewed real estate economic data and ran studies through the lens of a monocentric urban ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is based on the law of diminishing returns that over time, produce from a certain land parcel will decline in quantity and quality, yielding lower and lower profits, while at the same time, pressure on the land in the form of population will always rise. As it is the amount paid by the lessee for the indestructible powers of the land, different parcels with different fertility capacities will command different rents. As the amount of land is finite, the cost of production will also keep rising. Applying this theory to urban real estate, a monocentric city would have finite space for development due to which costs of construction will rise, passing on the burden to the buyer. Von Thunen, on the other hand, concerned himself with location and transportation costs in addition to fertility as factors determining price. He attributed differential rents to distances between places with desirable qualities and the costs of transporting oneself between them. At its most basic, the theory stands for the hypothesis that without the need for proximity and the price (rent) charged for it, land would be an almost free good. For two residential locations to have near identical prices, not only must they be located close to each other, but they must also provide the same level of utility to residents. Zuk shows this with an example of the average size of fish being way much smaller due to fishermen causing the fish to reproduce earlier than they normally do. Due to this, evolution regulated the growth and size of the fish variously, thus their sexual maturity became different. b.Another thing that I have learned from the introduction is that evolving quickly is not always a good thing. When evolution occurs too fast, there s only a small percentage of the population that survives while the rest of the population disintegrates. An example of this is the Black Death, where the death rates were about 95%. Thus, only the fittest were able to survive the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows what happened when we decided to go to crops and civilization for our source of food versus going for the traditional hunter gatherer role our ancestors once possessed. I thought this was a very interesting fact to learn. b.Another interesting thing is that the level of fitness for individuals could possibly get worse in the future. This is because our population is stuck and not adapting to the environments we are in. An effect of this could mean that we are not suited for the environment we are in, and we still have to evolve more so we can be more adaptive. Chapter 3: a.Some interesting information I learned was that evolution can occur quickly in the wild. Zuk demonstrated an example of this with a species of crickets that she had observed before. In fewer than 5 years, the male crickets had lost their ability to produce sound due to the rapid evolution of parasitic flies affecting the apparatus thus rendering the males. This was an example of one of the fastest cases of evolution. • 36. Presumed Innocent Essay Presumed Innocent Innocent until proven guilty has been an important mantra in US law. The burden of proof remains on the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty. This principle guides the premise that wrongly accusing the incident is a greater harm than not punishing the guilty, and sets a clean slate to build on in the minds of the Judge and jury. Additionally, this principle protects from unreasonable accusations assuming that significant evidence must be present first. Opposite of this philosophy would be guilty until proven innocent. In societies following this philosophy the accused must jump through hurdles to prove they are indeed innocent. Imagine, for example, you come home after a long day, flop down on the couch and fall asleep watching TV. Suddenly, bursting into the room comes the police, arresting you for robbing the convenience store down the street. You were there, you were asleep, but how do you prove this, the clerk said you did it. How do you proceed? Unjustly charged, potentially punished, having the presumption of innocence would have protected you. While Presumed Innocent is the mantra in the courts, it rarely is practiced in the court of public opinion. HMR630 Week #1 Paper February 7, 2015 The Importance of Classifying and Distinguishing Between Independent Contractors and Employee s Briggs, Latisha J. National University Abstract Through this paper we will explore the importance of distinguishings classifications between independent contractors and employees. We will examine identifying established relationship between employers and workers while covering assigned roles of employees and independent contractors. We will briefly discuss enacted laws and recommended practices to avoid misclassification penalties and consequences. Lastly, we will explore vital factors that should be considered while classifying workers. The Importance of Distinguishing Classification Between Independent Contractors and Employees Determining the classification between an independent contractor and an employee proves to be rather complex, yet vital, regarding tax issues. Therefore, assigning correct classification is critical to both employer and workers that carry out the labor, especially pertaining to benefits and tax payment obligations. • 40. Use, Function, And Meaning Of The Particle The Use, Function, and Meaning of the Particle Lah in Manglish (Malaysian English) and Singlish (Singaporean English) 1. Introduction Manglish and Singlish are English based creoles spoken in Malaysia and Singapore in South East Asia. A portmanteau of the words Malaysian and English (for Manglish) and Singaporean English (for Singlish), both these creoles borrow heavily from the other languages e.g. Malay, Mandarin Chinese, Tamil, etc. spoken in Malaysiaand Singapore while using English as the base language (McArthur 57, Broadbent Vavilova 144). As a Malaysian, one of the most common utterances in spoken Manglish and Singlish is the use of the particle lah in daily conversations (Goddard 1). For the purpose of this paper, I plan to delve deeper into the use, function, and meaning of lah in Malaysian conversations. In The English of Singapore and Malaysia, Tongue equates meaning with function in his discussion of lah (114 115). He proposes, The range of meanings it possesses is prodigious; depending upon the way it is pronounced, it can function as an intensifying particle, as a marker of informal style, as a signal of intimacy, for persuading, deriding, wheedling, rejection and a host of other purposes. (114 115) I hope to demonstrate the complexity behind the use of lah by showing that a Malaysian s ethnicity, region that they are from, and mother tongue spoken, affects the way they use lah, and the function and ... Prior to carrying out this important nursing duty, it is important for the LVN to recognize the difference between assigning tasks and delegating tasks. As explained in an article in the Journal of Nursing regulation titled; National Guidelines for Nursing Delegation. Assigning tasks would involve performing routine care, activities, and procedures that are within the authorized scope or practice of the LVN or part of the routine functions of the UAP. If all of those factors are not enough, let us not forget about the changes in the evolving nursing workforce. Many factors will influence the ability to comply with all regulations and standards. As stated in the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis report from December 2014. Some factors include: population growth, aging of the population, overall economic conditions, aging of the nursing workforce, and changes in health care reimbursement. A parallel force includes at least two forces where all lines of action are parallel. (c) Explain the difference between point loads and uniformly distributed loads. Include annotated pictorial diagrams Point Load In the field of engineering, a point load is a load applied to a single, specific point on a structural member. It is also known as a concentrated load, and an example of it would be a hammer hitting a single nail into a beam. Uniformly Distributed Load A UDL, or a uniformly distributed load, has a constant value, for example, 1kN/m; hence the uniform distribution of the load. Each uniformly distributed load can be changed to a simple point force that can be used to determine the stresses in an object. A uniformly distributed load can be drawn by using arrows and lines. First, the vectors must be drawn along where the load acts and must be connected with tails. A single line must connect the vectors together and represent the force point. The line should be horizontal. What is the difference between a Point Load and a Uniformly Distributed Load? A point load is a load which acts over a small distance. Because of concentration over small distance this load may be considered as acting on a point. Point load is denoted by P and symbol of point load is arrow heading downward whereas a distributed load is one that acts over a considerable length or you can say over a length which is ... Services require different management activities, it differs a lot from the marketing of goods (Berry, 1980). Indeed, services are considered as intangible, variable and perishable (marketingteacher.com). Thus, we can say that the traditional 4 p s are not sufficient anymore. Indeed, the servicemarketing mix should now include three other elements, which are the physical evidence, the people and finally, the service process (learnmarketing.net). In addition, we can say that the marketing of goods is not as critical as the management of services quality, which occurs through the monitoring of customer satisfaction. In contrary to the marketing of goods which is more focused on the physical product component, services require a certain customer loyalty, this implying having good service marketing skills. In this essay, a general framework on the applicability of the theatre metaphor to the services will be discussed. Key concepts and also the underpinnings of the drama metaphor will be presented.
