Fee Simple Research Paper
Fee simple defeasible is another way of saying fee simple qualified. Fee simple qualified is an
estate for which owner has fee simple title subject to a condition. If the condition is not met, then
the title passes back to the owner. It is a conditional estate based on that condition. A condition
subsequent is a condition that must occur after the transaction and a condition precedent is a
condition that must occur prior to the transaction. The classic example is that of a specific use
being required of a property. A man gave his property to the city to use as a library. Years later
the city stopped using the property as a library and the man s heirs demanded the property back.
The man s family regained title because the title held by the city was a fee simpledefeasible
/ qualified title and the condition was that the property be used as a library. Just as a contrast, a fee
simple absolute, is a transfer with no conditions. Synonyms: fee simple qualified Antonyms: fee

There are two types of overall estates, freehold estates which are owned and less than freehold
estates which are rented or leased. There are two types of freehold estates: estate in fee and life
estates. A life estate is based on the life of a specified person. There are two types of estate in
fee, fee simple qualified and fee simple absolute. The fee simple qualified is based on some
condition (precedent or subsequent). The fee simple absolute is the completely unrestricted in any
way estat¬e. When a home is purchased under normal conditions in America, it is a fee simple
absolute estate. Fee simple absolute is an estate in fee which means it is a perpetual estate or an
estate of inheritance too. The fact that a home is purchased instead of rented makes the estate a
freehold estate. A fee simple absolute is the completely unrestricted in any way

Healing Touch Research Paper
Imagine being on your death bed and with the touch of one person your health starts to progress
positively. As b143 said, I have healing hands. Sam Ferrifno an author who wrote Everyday Hero
s defined healing touch as sympathy and concern for the suffering and misfortunes of other . For
B134 I had I all the sympathy and concern one could give for her. Throughout my life I have
developed and used the super power healing touch which has greatly affected my family friends and
community.
My super power has always been present since as long as I can remember and tried to out shine
all the super powers out there. For B143 it outshined the rest. It was a regular winter day. I am
eighteen years old, a nursing student and I m at my first hands on clinical site. My hands, ears

Ferrigno who states Those who relieve us of it are heroes By helping the CNA and sticking with

help those in need and lessen their wounds. I believe this super power is something that has
helped me become a great person and a great nurse. It is something I can use for the rest of my
career and life, but I do wonder. When I relieve a person wound emotionally, mentally or
spiritually am I projecting those wound on myself to carry so one can be relieved of them? If so
how long can I do this until it take a toll on me? Only time can answer that but until then I will

Philosophies Of Enlightenment Philosophers
Philosophies That Take Our World
All of the great thinkers throughout history have the theme of choice evident in their works. The
world in the 17th and 18th century was changing fast with leading science and religious diversity.
The Enlightenment saw this ever changing world and worked on the psychological side of it. There
was thousands of Enlightenment philosophers who met and discussed their ideas of the human
psyche. Great thinkers like John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft s
philosophies still thrive today in western civilization. If fractions of a society cannot function as a
whole, a society will never thrive. The general argument made by Voltaire in his work Letters
Concerning The english Nation, is that all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues that if the government fails men can make choices for the good and still thrive. This is
seen when Locke says The people are at liberty to provide for themselves, y erecting a new
legislative (Locke). Its is people s natural duty to self preserve, by making the right decisions in
creating a new government.
In Adam Smith s Wealth Of Nations argues that individual decision making make up a government
s economic success. More specifically Smith argues that when people make the choice to better
themselves it will better the society as a whole. Smith shows this when he writes, Every individual
necessarily [contributes to] the annual revenue of the society as great as he can (Smith). In this
work Smith is suggesting that when people make the choice to better themselves they also
contribute to the better of a society.
In Mary Wollstonecraft s work A Vindication of the Rights of Women, She argues that if women
can think and contribute to society just like men. Wollstonecraft argues that if women are given and
equal opportunity to get an education they will succeed, by allowing them [women ] to participate
in the inherent rights of mankind. Make them free, and they will quickly become wise and virtuous

As serial crises tripped up America and then Europe, China barely broke stride. Other big
developing nations paused for breath only briefly. Investors bet that rapid growth in emerging
markets was the new normal, while leaders from Beijing to Brazil lectured the world on the virtues
of their state centric economic models.
More than 80% of the world s population lives in countries with emerging economies.
As we can see in Figure 1, the share of emerging markets in global output has increased from
below 20% in the early 90 s, to more than 30% today. Considering the cost of living differences,
the share of emerging economies in world GDP already exceeds 45%, which is 13 percentage
points higher than in the early 90 s. According to the International Monetary Fund s (IMF), World
Economic Outlook, this share will exceed 50% in 2013.

The Best And Worst Parts Of Society
Comic book characters represent the best and worst parts of society as seen through the eyes of
the writers. Heroes emanate what the writers perceive as the ideal human, someone attractive with
a strong moral code and a high tolerance for pain. Villains represent what the writers perceive as
problematic, people who are overly ambitious, immoral and represent the other , both in appearance
and beliefs. These characterisations reflect the views of society s majority, white men, essentially
the creators and controllers of pop culture. Captain America was a hero, the epitome of American
Patriotism. He was strong, smart and morally sound and he fought American enemies, the Nazis
and communism. Magneto, from the same comic universe as Captain America, was a villain
aiming for the eradication of all non mutants. The interesting thing about his evil acts is that they re
almost justified by his previous experiences with oppression, he s the comic book representation of
a victim fighting back and he s represented as villainous for that.
Disabilities are represented atrociously in comic books because they re represented atrociously in
pop culture. Steve Rogers was useless to the army until he was injected with an untested serum and
was no longer frail. Superman used glasses to imply vision impairment, because, no superhero
could be physically inadequate in any way, so his secret was safe. In Steve s case, his diagnoses are
represented as things that need fixing before he can be

Reflection Of Sophie s World
A girl named Sophie Amundsen was on her way home when she stopped by her mailbox to get
the mail, as she looked in the mailbox there was only one letter. It was unusual because there was
no stamp or who ve sent it, all it had was her name and address. Day by day, Sophie would
receive mysterious letters and would tear the envelope open to read questions like: Who are you?
Where does the world come from? or letters from the unknown writer that would get her thinking
long and hard because of this, the unknown letter writer had saved Sophie from the triviality of
everyday existence.
The book Sophie s World written by Jostein Gaardershows the reader to wonder more about the
world. As a child, we would think philosophically about the world but the older we got, we would
philosophically think less because we got used to the world

Teenage Stereotypes
Lazy, Disrespectful, Selfish, Technology Crazed. These are just a few of the words that come
to mind when the typical adult describes the everyday teenager. To some, these descriptions are
taken as a given fact and lack recognition of the issue this poses to the individuals on the
receiving end of such. This is the exact issue present in discrimination and stereotyping. For
years, a specific group of individuals has been reduced to the negative connotations presented
against them by every other group that lacks such quality such as their race, gender, appearance,
age ...etc. Every instance applicable contains the common ground in which the other groups fail
to recognize the harm in their superficial classifications of one another due to narrow minded
tendencies. This is the basis to every single form of discrimination. An incredibly oppressed
group who is by far, no stranger to these circumstances are teens who continuously receive the
hostility of adults for simply belonging to their age group. Present day teenagers have come to be
placed in an inaccurate box that classifies them as a selfish, immature group by adults due several
factors, the most prominent being the media and the form it introduces teens to the average adult.
The constant incorrect portrayal of teens in movies, t.v. and other platforms has caused adult
audiences to believe these classifications and thus, cause several issues to be inflicted upon teens
in several areas of their lives that calls for

The Importance Of Safe Sex In America
The reason why high risk sex still occurs among the well educated reasonably affluent Americans
is because in the heat of the moment they tend not to think about it. It s more that they think about
the lust and passion they re having for the other person that is distracting their mind even if they
re knowledgeable on the subject of safe sex. I believe that people should really focus on protecting
themselves from diseases by keeping protection always on you if you feel that it s likely that you
will end up in a eventful night that day. Education plays a huge role in educating children around
their teen years and above about how they can protect themselves from sexual transmitted diseases,
and what they are. Studies has shown that a well implemented

The Gap Between Development And Underdevelopment
In Walter Rodney s book he emphasizes the difference between development and
underdevelopment. According to Rodney, development is defined as a many sided process
involving individuals, social classes, and society as a whole. At the level of the individual it s
represented by increased skill, greater freedom, creativity, self discipline, responsibility and
material well being. Rodney paid more attention to material well being, freedom and skill at this
individual representation. For Rodney the individual development is directly linked to the
development of the state. For the second side of development, social class/group, Rodney states
that development implies an increasing capacity to regulate both internal and external relationships.
For the society as a whole, development shows how man has the ability to overcome downfalls
and better their lives through making use of the earth s resources available to him. In Rodney s
book, he points out how Africafits into these definitions of development, but more so how they fit
into the definition of underdevelopment.
Developed states are characterized by being highly industrialized, they have low unemployment,
improved social services, advanced farming industries with the technology to produce more in less
time and with fewer people. Underdevelopment should not be understood as the opposite or lack of
development but the very low level of development of a particular state when in comparison to
other states (especially wealthier

What Happened To Make My Hair Fall Out Research Paper
But I m a woman, what happened to make my hair fall out?
If you are a woman and you have lost your hair or you re in the process of losing it, you may have
already gone through the many stages that are involved. For instance, when you noticed more than
usual hair in your brush, did you convince yourself it was just your imagination?
Upon awakening one morning, did it appear as though someone had given you a haircut while you
were sleeping due to all the hair on your pillow?
Even then, were you still completely in denial and convinced yourself that it s just a temporary
situation or a phase your hair is going through? It won t last long so I ll just wear my hair different

Additionally, you can have a sensitivity to the male hormones in your body. That figures...right?
Post pregnancy Hormonal changes sometimes cause hair loss. A woman s body does so much for
the baby during pregnancy and when the pregnancy is over and the baby is no longer there, the
body goes through a multitude of hormonal changes, so this can sometimes lead to excessive hair
loss. Fortunately, it s normally a temporary situation.
Hereditary If one of your parents lost their hair, there s a good chance yours is hereditary. Try not
to give them a hard time about it, they didn t give it to you on purpose.
Stress No surprise here. Stress is the culprit in many of our bodies disruptions. Thinning or loss of
hair can certainly be one of them. It s a Catch 22 situation because stress causes hair loss and
losing our hair gives us stress.
Unhealthy diet A diet low in proteincan be one of those reason for hair loss that can definitely be
rectified by eating a healthy diet. It makes sense because about 85% of hair is made from protein.
Hair loss can be caused by low iron as well, which is more prevalent in

Baby Boom Generation Analysis
Baby Boom Generation Must Retire Now From Government Divisions
It s not uncommon to read articles today about the impact the recession is having on young people
who are just graduating from college. Their career opportunities are already limited. As the
Boomers stay put, it may further limit the advancement opportunities of the generations beneath
them. The typical definition of Baby Boom Generation refers to elder born between the years of
1946 and 1964. American Samoa government divisions are filled with Baby boomers that have
exceeded more than 30 years of service. As a result, the government needs to modify its retirement
policies to allow cost savings, increase of jobs in American Samoa government workforce and add
quality services offered by the government.
The government of American Samoa is continuing facing with a financial downturn. The
problem falls within the leaders when political promises become a driving force in their
decision. Sadly favoritism and nepotism are witnessed in the government regardless of equal
employment opportunity regulation. A great deal of these inclination leans toward Directors of
each department in the government. Samoa News contended that each Director whom are

only that, if perhaps each director exceeded 30 years of service in the government, they will have

This is why the current health and safety regulations and legislation are vitally important to both

businesses use substances be they substances such as acids or poisons to items like cleaning
products or batteries, all of these could cause harm to employees, contractors and other people.
COSHH ensures these hazards are known and controlled by properly trained people.
RIDDOR is a law concerning the reporting of accidents in the work place, this includes accidents
resulting in death of any person, accidents resulting in specified injuries to workers, non fatal
accidents requiring hospital treatment to non workers and dangerous occurrences. RIDDOR is

The Automobile Industry And What Effect Car Emissions Have...
Automotive in America
America is one of the biggest buyers of cars in the world. With great distances to cover in rural
land and impressive salaries spend on cars in places such as New York City or Beverly Hills,
there is always a market for domestic and international car manufacturers. The market has changed
a lot in the last 10 years, and that is why we will both look at the provided automotive industry
analysis from 2004 and go into the current landscape. We will look at the history of the American
auto market and see the changes since 2004. We will determine how the market is divided in the
current market and what global competition is prominent. We will continue by looking into new
inventions in the auto industry and what effect car emissions have on innovation. Finally, we will
look at what the consumer looks for in a new car in the current market.
Competition and Market share
Unlike other countries, Americans are very loyal to domestic brands. General Motors held the
dominating share in 2004 (Highfill, Baki, Copus, Green, Smith Whineland, 2004) and does so still
in 2014 with 17.8% market share (Statista Statistics, 2015). Right behind General Motors is
Ford, another domestic manufacturer with 14.9% (Statista Statistics, 2015). Finally continuing to
the number three sales expert, Toyota with 14.4% (Statista Statistics, 2015). This makes America
very different from the global top manufacturers, where Toyota stands on top with 11.6% of the
global market share, followed

every aspect of your life as I stated above. If your mind and body are prepared for any obstacle

believe that when you set your mind to a goal in order to better yourself you need to set them out

Metaframeworks Perspective Analysis
The metaframeworks perspective extracts concepts from various modalities that complement its
unique way of dealing with systems, while unburdening itself from the constraints of previous
models. Metaframeworks places emphasis on six separate domains that is believed to assist a
therapist in understanding the client. Metaframeworks draws from familysystems theory, when
observing an individual, but it expands family systems in order to include the individual s internal
processes (EFEF). Metaframeworks holds the position that family systems thinking has made the
therapist focus on either the entire family, the subsystems of the family system, or the family s
interactions with systems besides its own (EEEE). By pairing the external and internal... Show more

The opinion of metaframeworks is that each individual has multiple subpersonalities or parts that
consist of the self. Each of these parts interact with one another on a daily basis, switching
continuously back and forth dependent upon the individuals context. When an individual finds
themselves in a situation that is uncomfortable or filled with tension, then the parts are capable of
becoming extreme (polarization). The belief is that these polarized parts have taken the reigns
from an individual s true self and in order to regain control an individual must depolarize. When
clients enter therapy they are in a situation in which a part of themselves has become polarized. The
individual s polarized part wants to return to homeostasis, but it is enmeshed within the roles it has
taken on. In order to fully revert the part must recognize the self as having the ability to maintain
effective leadership and it must change its interactions with the self and other parts (EEEE). In this
manner of changing, it is believed that internal change happens at a faster rate. This also enables the
therapist to trust the client to be able to make the changes necessary for themselves without the
need for reframes. Breunlin, Schwartz, and Kune Karrer (1997) also emphasize their shift in focus
from Minuchin s structural family therapy in regards to how change occurs. Instead of introducing a
crisis, focusing on a family systems pattern

Long Grove Company s Mission Essay
Long Grove Confectionery Company founded by John and Heidi Mangel started the company
as a retail business in 1975. Locating in Long Grove, IL, the original Long Grove Confectionery
was a retail shop and candy kitchen that was housed in a nostalgic replica of a red schoolhouse.
After a successful ten years, Long Grove Confectionery had outgrown a small kitchen and
moved its production to a 25,000 square feet facility in Buffalo Grove, IL. Shortly after that
transition, Long Grove Confectionary added another 60,000 square feet which increased its
total size to 85,000 square feet in order to meet the rising demand from its retail and wholesale
customers. In June of 2013, Long Grove Confectionery Company was sold to Craig Leva; the
president and owner of a Chicago based chocolate company Arway Confections, Inc. With the
expertise of Craig Leva, Long Grove Confectionery Company was able to stay alive through its
hardships in 2013 when John and Heidi Mangel had retired. Today, Long Grove Confectionery
Company s mission is to deliver their customers quality products with a sense of pride,
friendliness, warmth, and outstanding customer service. Introduction Sales Tactics On my visit to

Freud s Worst Nightmare Perfect Sex Dream
In her article, author Barbra Creed discusses a wide range of theories and assumptions on Freud
and his relation to modern cinema, memories, and the development of the original horror film. She
begins by describing Freud and his obsession with horror. She briefly mentions some of his case
histories that entail themes of sexual abuse, hysteria, bestiality, phobias, and perversity, but
primarily continues to inform us of his hatred of cinema. Considering Freud was born in 1856, he
was just reaching his mid 50 s when early cinema really took off. Films and movies became the
forefront of entertainment, the must see attraction by audiences across the country, and the newest
daring art form. This was, however, an art form that Sir Sigmund Freud wanted nothing to do with.
Despite having several films be inspired by his theories and writings, Freud refused to become
involved with films and filmmaking, and even avoided being captured on camera in his daughter s
home videos. The reason for this hatred however, is neglected and left questionable by Creed.
The author points out that early cinema was known for stretching the boundaries on narrative
filmmaking by incorporating elements of sex, desire, and eroticism, which were, of course, main
focuses of Freud s countless writings. She continues her analysis by efficiently describing the
modern self and the divided self: two

Critical Analysis Of Edward Scissorhands
Edward Scissorhands, directed by Tim Burton in 1990, features Burton s distinctive style, themes
and story elements. Moreover, it is influenced stylistically by the German Expressionism;
distortion of objects and bodies, such as the trimmed hedges, Gothic elements, for instance Edward
s castle or his clothes, and the music played throughout the film, curves and crooked lines in the
pathway of the neighbourhood, and the Chiaroscuro lighting (low key lightning) in most of the
scenes. Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest), a local Avon door to door saleswoman tries to sell her products
around her neighbourhood, until she arrives to the old, abandoned Gothic mansion in the outskirts
of Spring Hopes. There, she discovers Edward (Johnny Depp), a bizarre creation resulting from an
unfinished experiment by a mad scientist, who died just... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most relevant arguments for claiming that the film is good enough to recommend it is
that the film has authorship personality; that is, throughout the movie audience may realise that
there are lots of Burton s characteristic features: such as the visual style, contrasting the pastel
colours (blue, green, orange, and pink) in the houses of Spring Hopes, with the Gothic ones
(mainly black) in Edward s clothes and castle. It seems Edward is brought to the neighbourhood to
show that there is another valid lifestyle; the otherness has to be accepted even though it seems to
be too bizarre at first. Furthermore, the exploration of the otherness and the characters, such as
Edward, who exist outside the boundaries of normality is a topic that is highly relevant, because it
may show the audience that no matter how different a thing is, all that it is important is that is
good enough for you. Edward Scissorhands, summing up, is a good film because it has an interior
meaning, that is, it makes the audience think outside the box, and extract a useful moral from the

Case Of Foss V Harbottle
Name: Wong Ho Yin Cherry
UID: 3035050975
Introduction
Ho, Lo and Ko are the directors of Lemon Limited and it was agreed that the company s profits
would be distributed in three equal shares as directors remuneration. However, when the company
turned less profitable, Ho and Lo decided that Ko must forego profit in favour of capital growth of
her investment without getting her consent. When she requested to be bought out, Ho and Lo
refused.
The relevant area of law in this case is unfair prejudice under minority protection. In this case, Ko
may petition court for relief on unfair prejudice grounds if the other two directors banned for from
getting her share of directors remuneration. She may also petition court for winding up order on
just and equitable grounds if she was not allowed to leave the company. It is important to consider
whether the conduct of Ho and Lo was both unfair and prejudicial and thus the petition shall not be
prohibited by the rules in Foss v Harbottle .

Isis As The Mother Goddess
The push for equality between genders has been a highly disputed topic since the blossoming of
the feminist movement. For years women have felt undervalued and oppressed because of the
standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society. However, early evidence suggests that
females were once renowned through the archetype of the great goddessbecause of a female s ability
to create life through giving birth, justifying that the mother goddesswould be the most powerful of
the gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of years to
the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the once revered great
goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving humiliation for the goddess
involved.
In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living things; the
ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they relied on her nurturing
care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring goddess in her journey to revive her
murdered husband throughout the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the
Nile in a papyrus boat, and wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered
remains, proving her devotion to him (19). While she has assistance on her journey from other
gods and goddesses, she is the leader in finding Osiris no one else seems to take interest in reviving
the god of Upper and Lower

how it came about to really jumpstart the civil rights movement that greatly affects us today.
During alabama in this time the law for bus riding for african americans was that they had to pay
their fare in the front of the bus then walk out to the rear entrance and sit in the back of the bus,
they were not allowed to sit toward the front, according to Mary Hall an american author who
wrote the biography of Rosa Parks (Hull). Also african americans weren t allowed to sit until all
the white passengers were seated first, and that forces them to seat farther back or just stand until
they arrive to their stop. What also is ridiculous is that is that they are not allowed to sit across
from the whites in the same row (Academy of Achievement). Even throughout all these rules, some
bus drivers would just close their doors and take off before they get on leaving them stranded to
find another bus for transportation.

7/11, I have used your store for a quick fix for my lunch for quite a long time. Its a very

Health, Education, And Women
Raisa Feliz and Emmett Rafferty Interim Report #3 Health, Education and Women
Over the past few decades Brazil has made major improvements to its healthcare system. Before
1988, half of Brazil s population did not have health care coverage (World Health Organization).
This changed when Brazil implemented Unified Health System (Sistema Гљnico de SaГєde) which
provided universal free healthcare coverage for its citizens. Since its enactment, 75% of Brazil s
population now rely on Sistema Гљnico de SaГєde (SUS) as their sole provider of health coverage,
making it the largest public health system in the world (World Health Organization). SUS receives
its funding primarily through federal and local taxation totaling $208 billion (Deliotte).
However, this large amount of spending is not reflected in the quality of healthcare provided to
Brazilians. Brazil has an estimated 2.5 hospital beds per 1,000 citizens and the beds are of bad
quality and are poorly distributed (Deliotte). Brazil s Federal Medical Council conducted a
survey that showed 93% of Brazilians considered the healthcare systems to be either very bad or
mediocre (Deliotte). While more Brazilians have access to healthcare than ever before, the quality
of care does not meet the requirements that would allow the system to be truly effective. Despite its
operational healthcare inefficiencies, Brazil s life expectancy has been rapidly increasing since
SUS s implementation, as shown in Figure 1.

The ALP has taken a back seat to accommodating new social movements as it seeks to take
whatever measures necessary to achieving government. In response, the Greens have used social
movements as a platform for the party s campaigning. The dynamics of election campaigning has
evolved in Australia and has seen the major parties produce less emphasis on traditional ideology
(Katz and Mair 2009:762) in their attempts to winning elections by targeting swing electorates.
Therefore, the Greens have emerged as a party of principle in the face of blurring distinctions
between the two major parties who seek to freeze out the minor parties and maintain their
electoral dominance. Minor parties have fallen victim to elements of Cartelization in Australian
politics which aims to prevent any challenges to the dominance of the two major parties.
Furthermore, the Greens have garnered support through the belief that the Liberals as well as the
ALP have become indifferent to the desires of ordinary citizens as policies become part of the
state than they are policies of any particular party or coalition (Katz and Mair 2009:759). The
Cartelization of Australian Politics justifies how divisions within the ALP have played a significant
role in the origins of the Greens as voters seek to challenge the dominant two party

Reflective Essay On Meditation
Meditation is a state of consciousness without focus on the world around you. The goal of
meditation varies for each individual, but it is typically done to achieve a sense of calm, reduce
anxiety, become self aware, and gain a broader sense of perspective. There are various activities
that are meditative and can deliver the mindclearing sensation, but I chose the traditional form of
seated meditation. When I chose meditation as my personal life change, I had no desired
outcome. I simply chose meditation because of my interest in Buddhism, and maybe even the
opportunity to one of those pretentious people who brag about how spiritually whole they are.
Meditation can be done anywhere as long as you re in a comfortable, seated position. However, I
found that there are other contributing factors to a successful meditation. After my first attempt
meditating, I came to the realization that it is much simpler to clear your mind in certain
locations. I began meditating in the comfort of my home alongside a scented candle, but I
noticed quite quickly that it is a lot easier to reduce stress when you aren t able to hear the
sources of your stress parading around in the kitchen. After moving my meditation location to a
hammock in my backyard, I was able to focus on my breath, the delicate inhalations and powerful
exhalations, and the cool September air that cooled my body, as opposed to what was assigned in

Many scholars have written about the particularly intimate...
Many scholars have written about the particularly intimate connection between food and family
prevalent in Italian American culture. Herbert Gans interprets this to be a legacy of the traditional
Southern Italian peasant culture that the immigrant generation successfully passed down to the
younger generations in America. Thus, the connection is implied to be a transplanted cultural trait.
However, when viewed in light of the social changes in America, this bond was inevitably affected
by the Italians experiences in America. Italian American food culturewas a tradition shaped by
changes outside and inside the family. An examination of the Italian American family of the

Therefore, the character of the period is defined by the experiences of this single generational
grouping. A common set of opportunities and constraints frames these experiences given that each
generation tends to come of age within a short historical time period. The first portion of this essay,
the will focus on the Italian American family of the interwar years. Tracing the development of
such a family demonstrates how intergenerational negotiation was necessary for food to transcend
its status as a marker of social inferiority and point of family conflict and become a unifying family
force. As the large influx of Italian immigrants came to an end in the 1920s, the immigrants bonds
with their home country became weaker and the second generation became numerically
predominant. This change, as Alba points out, shifted the focus of communal concern: The
immigrants anxiety about finding a niche, however temporary, in American society was succeeded
by that of passing on a way of life to the new generation, one whose members were being raised in
an environment vastly different from that which lived on in their parents memories. Accordingly,
major generational conflicts erupted within the Italian American community during the earlier
portion of interwar years. The children of the immigrant generation were socialized under genuinely
dual cultural pressures. They were raised in the home of their

Symptoms And Diagnosis Of Psoriasis
Symptoms/ Diagnosis of the Pathology: Red, raised, dry, inflamed, scaly areas on the body and
the pitting of the nails describe the common appearance of the pathological disease of psoriasis.
Doctors often find it difficult to determine psoriasis because it is very similar to other skin
disorders. There are several ways to confirm its medical diagnosis, dermatologist may analyze your
skin, nails, and scalp (Langley, 2010). A dermatologist is a specialist trained in skin diseases. If not
determined by the naked eye, further investigations are needed to determine the type of psoriasis. It
can be tested by a biopsy of the skin which is performed by examining the skin under a microscope,
x rays could determine joint swelling or joint deformity, a blood test to determine arthritis, and
medical history.
Physiological Basis of the Pathology: Psoriasis was copied from the Greek word psora, which
means to itch (Jean, 2011). Psoriasis is a chronic, long lasting autoimmune skin disease that

Disadvantages Of Coffee
Introduction
It is not a rare scene when you come to the office and see your colleagues are sipping their cups

especially office workers. Not only my family use daily drink but also most people in the world
love it. That s why I m excited about it and I decide to select it for my research paper. I haven t

information from reliable sources on the Internet. My paper will answer three questions:
1.What is the cause leading to harmful effects?
2.What is the effect of using coffee?
3.What is solution to resolve this problem?

It is owing to the fact that coffee contains some elements that absolutely harm our body if it is

Toxic metals include aluminum, cadmium, lead and other poisonous types. If an appropriate

toxic metals to human body and health. Otherwise, any overuse of coffee is highly likely to
cause a great deal of pains and diseases to people s health. Besides, rancid oil contained in coffee

doctors concluded it was medically necessary. The supreme court appointed for life issued
sweeping rules that shocked the lawyers for expanded abortion rights. The public opinion
defined abortion as a privacy right and open abortions at the request of a pregnant woman.
Opponents of abortion came back with strong complaints that assumed the power of
democratically elected legislatures. There are six main ways to abort a baby. The first is RU 486,
it is a drug that promotes abortion taken after the mother misses her period. It can only be used up
to the second month of pregnancy by blocking progesterone from developing the baby. Then a
second drug is taken to stimulate the uterus to contract and the baby is then expelled. Women who
choose this procedure will experience severe cramping, bleeding, and vomiting. The second is
suction aspiration paralyzing the cervical muscle and the abortionist inserts a plastic tube with a
knife edge into the uterus. The baby is busted into pieces then sucked out through the cut opening of
the uterine wall into a bottle. With very heavy bleeding dilation abortion is the third

Comparing Nineteen Eighty-Four and Utopia
Parallels in Nineteen Eighty Four and Utopia
Literature is a mirror of life. In order to reflect their views on the problems in society, many
authors of fiction, including Sir Thomas More of Utopia and George Orwell of Nineteen Eighty
Four, use parallels in character, setting, government, and society to link their works to the real
world.
Characters are the appendages of a literary work, without well rounded characters, a novel is not
complete. In many situations, authors use certain distinguishing features of a well known figure in
society to shape the character in their works. These realistic characters are the work s link to the
outside world. In the book Utopia, Thomas More presents himself as a character the ... Show more

The London presented in 1984 is a ruin with the reminders of constant warfare. There are half
torn buildings everywhere, and people live in horrid conditions, lacking in a steady electricity
supply, rations, and running water. The London Orwell portrays is for the most part the
naturalistically presented city during the Second World War and the years immediately afterward
(Brown 92). In 1948, merely three years after the end of the Second World War, London was a torn
down city as a result of years of endless bombing and warfare. Perhaps Orwell saw this fact and
wanted to include the dreadfulness of warfare in his novel.
Warfare, consequently, is the wrongdoing of the government. As Thomas Paine once wrote,
Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. To
reflect the political ideas of themselves, authors often incorporate into their works a style of
government that dominates in the story.
In More s Utopia, the government is a democracy, where the citizens elect the syphogrant of their
district. The syphogrants are comparable to the Members of Parliament who represent the public in
England. The syphogrants then elect two hundred tranibors , a higher level of authority, and the
tranibors elect the prince, the mayor of a city. The representatives of higher positions such as the
tranibors and the prince, however,

Garage Shelving Case
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Rolesville, NC) HSH.com reports the number one complaint of homeowners is a lack of storage
space. They surveyed 1,001 individuals to discover what annoyed them most about their home to
obtain this information, and The Wyman Group states this is due to individuals wanting more
room for their items, as opposed to a need for more space for a larger family. This is especially of
concern in older homes, which tend to lack in this area, and people often look for creative ways to
add to their residence. Garage Attics offers a solution to this problem in the form of Garage Storage.
Garage Shelving is one option many individuals look to when they need more room for their
possessions. This takes up valuable floor space, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In 2015, almost 25 percent of Americans said their garage was actually too cluttered to even bring
their car inside. No homeowner should give up this valuable space when we offer a solution,
Cocchiola continues.
Kelley Blue Book, back in 2015, reported that the average new car cost $30,000. This is an
investment an individual makes, therefore they should not leave their vehicle exposed to the
elements. As one in four people are doing exactly this, it s obvious many homeowners would
benefit from a garage storage system that doesn t use up any space on the floor.
Contact us today for a free, no obligation consultation and free estimate. Homeowners often fail to
recognize the possibilities in their existing home and either opt to buy a larger residence or add on
to the existing one for additional space. As this system makes use of the overhead space in a
garage, there is no need to do either. In addition to freeing up valuable space, Garage Attics saves
homeowners money, and all appreciate this added bonus, Cocchiola states.

Compare And Contrast The Pantheon In Athens And The Parthenon
Two Ancient Monuments
Two of the ancient world s best examples of architecture, which still exist today, are the Pantheon in
Athens, and the Parthenon in Rome. Both of these monuments are more than just classical temples,
they are symbols of the great civilizations of the past which constructed them. Achievements which
have stood the test of time, despite the fact they have been stripped of their former glory.
First of all let s consider the older of the two, the Parthenon. The Parthenon stands on the top of the
Acropolis, a rocky outcrop in the center of Athens, Greece. Work began on the temple complex
shortly after the war with Persia ended, from 447 to 432 BCE. The funds to finance the building
of this grand monument came from the surplus of the war treasury of the Delian League, an
alliance of city states created for the sake of defence against the Persians. The Acropolis had
suffered greatly in the war when the Persians invaded Athens in 480 BCE, looting and destroying
the temples. Yet the building of the Parthenon was more than just a restoration of lost temples, it
was a statement, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The largest dome ever made when constructed, it is still considered the largest unreinforced
concrete structure of its kind. The dome of the Pantheon is what makes this building so unique.
The rotunda measures 43.3 meters in diameter, which is the exact height from the floor to the
oculus, open skylight, which means it is a perfect hemisphere. A 43.3 meter diameter sphere would
fit perfectly under the dome. The dome is made of pumice mixed with concrete, a process which
was lost with the fall of the Roman Empire and only now starting to be understood. The thickness
of the dome tapers from 6.4 meters at the base to 1.2 meters around the oculus. The weight of the
dome was reduced by forming five rings of 28 coffers, recessed panels, into the interior

Art Or Art Essay
The concept of art is very complex, and the question What is art? tends to not have a certain
answer. However, most agree that art is any form of expression, and this statement is what
everyone knows art as. For years, many people have gotten into heated discussions on whether
video games could be considered as art or not. Though these screen based games have been
legally recognized as art, the topic remains a controversy. It is imperative to understand that
video games have many artistic qualities contained within them. These games contain many
forms of art, including visual art, music, and storytelling. Therefore, video games should be
considered an art form because of the artistic efforts that go into making them. Many video
games have stories behind that provide a backstory for the main character and his or her
motivation. Video game creators make sure that their games have complex stories that teach a
lesson to the player. An example of this could be seen in game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a game where the player has to go on a quest with the main
character s brother to save their dying father (Mellisonos, 1). A story like this is not to simply be
dismissed. It not only provides the player with a way to keep the player occupied, but it also
gives the player insight into his or her own life. The player is able to learn the story through of the
two brothers about the importance of selflessness. Video games that are choice based,

Effects of the United States Failed War on Drugs Policy Essay
Effects of the United States Failed War on Drugs Policy

Abstract
The War on Drugs policy has been the approach by the United States to protect citizens from the
harmful effects of illegal drugs. The article examines the failures of the war on drug policy has had
on society, such as, increasing violence, increasing the prison population, increased spending of
billions of taxpayer funds, and being racially biased against minorities. The war on drugs policy
reflects a deeper political agenda and is diverting attention away from the real issue by ... Show

Therefore, president after president has adopted the war metaphor and declared drugs as a national
security risk that must be fought at an international level to maintain society safe. In Bush s speech
to the nation, he states the citizens must come together behind one plan of action, an assault on
every front (cited in Elwood, 1995 p. 106). Consequently, the misuse of rhetoric, war metaphors,
and the assault on drugs have had a negative impact on society which has failed American citizens.
Additionally, the war on drugs is also having an impact on minorities and lower socio economic
citizens by imprisoning African American and Hispanic citizens at alarming rates. Nationwide, the
rate of persons admitted to prison on drug charges for black men is 13 times higher than that for
White men (Fellner, 2000). Currently African American and Hispanic citizens make up the
majority of the prison population that is the result of the harsher sentencing of drug related crimes.
In 1989, the Bush administration targeted the public housing projects by devoting $50 million to
fight crime in the public housing projects. This would help restore order and kick out the dealers
for good (cited in Elwood, 1995 p. 104). In 1973, the Rockefeller drug law was enacted which
provided extremely harsh sanction and mandatory minimum prison sentences, for example,
sentencing someone to fifteen years to life for selling an ounce of heroin (as cited in

Regina Galindo Research Paper
Regina Jose Galindo was born in 1974 in Guatemala. She currently lives and works in
Guatemala. Regina practices her art works with her own body. Her works are based on violence
or any cruelty caused by certain political events and personal disgrace. Those works are open to
the public and to whoever relates to what is being depicted in the art work. (Regina Jose Galindo
Portfolio, 2014). Galindo won the Golden Lion award in 2005 as the best artist under 35 at the
51st. Venice Biennale. Two years later, she sold this award to a Spanish artist, Santiago
Sierra, who
in return sold back to a collector. Ironically, in 2011 she decided to order an exact copy of the
award to her friends, Angel and Fernando PoyГіn who were sculptors in Guatemala. Her friends
gave her the exact copy, but this time the Golden Lion was casted in bronze coated in Guatemalan
gold. Regina s work is also present in private and public collections, such as the Pompidou,
Guggenheim, Rivoli Museum in Torino, or the Miami Art Museum and Cisneros Fontanals

because with this experiment you can see the level of humanity in people. She let people decide
whether to do something for her when she was freezing to death, or to continue and leave her
there. Another interesting work was the one called Bitch (Perra). In this work, she wrote the word
BITCH with a knife on her right thigh. This work is to reflect the torture and murder affecting
hundreds of Guatemalan women every year. Many of them were found disfigured with words like
bitch carved into their bodies (Micchelli,

My Personal Worldview
In my personal opinion, a worldview consists of the sum total of an individual s perspectives on
the relationships between the sphere of their own personal experiences and the sphere of the
variables of the world which lie outside their own control. A worldview could be defined as an
ideology or religion in a narrow sense, but it encompasses more aspects of a person s
relationships to the outside world than a simple ideological path. My personal worldview is that
the universe is very large and very confusing. I am not partial to any explanation for our existence
here on the earth, but I do not hold any of these viewpoints to be superior or inferior to one another.
I am agnostic, but I do not discount Christianity or creationism as idiotic .

know that this is not the safest facility in the world, and there is a high chance that a bomb will
not be built properly and will explode. Therefore, you have two choices, either try your best to
make sure that the bombs are built properly, or since you know that the bomb could explode even
if you did nothing you do exactly that, nothing. Now, any person who is sensible regardless of

King County Court Case Analysis
The purpose of this memo is to summarize, analyze and reflect upon my visit to the King County
Courthouse, West Division on February 10, 2017.
On Friday, February 10th, 2017 I visited the King County Courthouse in Seattle to fulfill the
requirements of the Visit to the Court Assignment. During my visit, I observed the court
proceedings for two hours. Also, during this time I got familiar with the courthouse and observed
three separate cases. Each case presented a different issue for the judge and resulted in different
judgements.
The first case I observed being heard before the court was a criminal case. In this case, there was no
jury present and very few spectators. The case was already in the sentencing stage, meaning the
judge was ready to give their verdict to the present parties. The defendant was being charged with
possession of a stolen vehicle. The plaintiff was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The parties in this case were a divorce couple. The wife was appealing the ruling of the
commissioner and was requesting a revision to their divorce agreement. She stated that her
husband had not reported additional income and she should be awarded additional child support.
She stated her current financial situation, she was working on her bachelor s degree and couldn t
handle paying for that and financially provide for her family as well. She also had an interpreter
present to aide in her argument. Her argument was based on the commissioner s mistake to not
account for her husband s additional income and therefore being awarded the incorrect amount of
child support. She asked the judge to make this revision and consider the husband s additional
income for the year. Meanwhile, the husband did not speak nor object to a revision. The judge only
gave each party 10 minutes to speak and ultimately sided with the mother. The judge made the
revision of increasing monthly child support by considering the husband s unreported

What Does The Clock Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
My new cover for the novel, The Great Gatsby touches on the most relevant symbols being, Dr.
T. J. Eckleburg s eyes, clocks, stars, and the green light at the end of the Buchanan s dock. Dr. T.
J. Eckleburg s haunting eyes are depicted as being painted on a fading old billboard overlooking
the Valley of Ashes. This pair of blue eyes staring down on the people below blatantly symbolize
god looking down onto american society. The placement of the billboard in the Valley of Ashes
can be seen as God looking down on the poor workers covered in coal dust. These eyes watching
over the poor s conditions means that as God looks down on the dirty circumstances but does
nothing to free these people of hard labor. Therefore it can be inferred that god watches over the
poor far more intensely than he does the upper class who are free to do as they please outside of
God s gaze.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naturally, clocks continue to move forward endlessly to depict an ever increasing sense of time.
The most important mentioning of a clock in the piece is sitting on Nick s mantle piece.
However, this clock has been broken and therefore relays Gatsby s desperation to turn back time.
Gatsby then proceeds to knock this clock off of the mantleplace and catch it, symbolizing his
lost time, referring to how the couple s time apart has in his eyes, altered Daisy in the worst
possible way. This lost time is one of the main reasons for Gatsby s demise as he couldn t accept

  • 2. Fee Simple Research Paper Fee simple defeasible is another way of saying fee simple qualified. Fee simple qualified is an estate for which owner has fee simple title subject to a condition. If the condition is not met, then the title passes back to the owner. It is a conditional estate based on that condition. A condition subsequent is a condition that must occur after the transaction and a condition precedent is a condition that must occur prior to the transaction. The classic example is that of a specific use being required of a property. A man gave his property to the city to use as a library. Years later the city stopped using the property as a library and the man s heirs demanded the property back. The man s family regained title because the title held by the city was a fee simpledefeasible / qualified title and the condition was that the property be used as a library. Just as a contrast, a fee simple absolute, is a transfer with no conditions. Synonyms: fee simple qualified Antonyms: fee simple absolute Related Words: estate, title, freehold estate... Sam Ferrifno an author who wrote Everyday Hero s defined healing touch as sympathy and concern for the suffering and misfortunes of other . For B134 I had I all the sympathy and concern one could give for her. Throughout my life I have developed and used the super power healing touch which has greatly affected my family friends and community. My super power has always been present since as long as I can remember and tried to out shine all the super powers out there. For B143 it outshined the rest. It was a regular winter day. I was trying to help those in need and lessen their wounds. I believe this super power is something that has helped me become a great person and a great nurse. It is something I can use for the rest of my career and life, but I do wonder. When I relieve a person wound emotionally, mentally or spiritually am I projecting those wound on myself to carry so one can be relieved of them? The world in the 17th and 18th century was changing fast with leading science and religious diversity. The Enlightenment saw this ever changing world and worked on the psychological side of it. There was thousands of Enlightenment philosophers who met and discussed their ideas of the human psyche. Great thinkers like John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft s philosophies still thrive today in western civilization. This is seen when Locke says The people are at liberty to provide for themselves, y erecting a new legislative (Locke). Its is people s natural duty to self preserve, by making the right decisions in creating a new government. In Adam Smith s Wealth Of Nations argues that individual decision making make up a government s economic success. More specifically Smith argues that when people make the choice to better themselves it will better the society as a whole. Smith shows this when he writes, Every individual necessarily [contributes to] the annual revenue of the society as great as he can (Smith). In this work Smith is suggesting that when people make the choice to better themselves they also contribute to the better of a society. In Mary Wollstonecraft s work A Vindication of the Rights of Women, She argues that if women can think and contribute to society just like men. Wollstonecraft argues that if women are given and equal opportunity to get an education they will succeed, by allowing them [women ] to participate in the inherent rights of mankind. • 6. The Best And Worst Parts Of Society Comic book characters represent the best and worst parts of society as seen through the eyes of the writers. Heroes emanate what the writers perceive as the ideal human, someone attractive with a strong moral code and a high tolerance for pain. Villains represent what the writers perceive as problematic, people who are overly ambitious, immoral and represent the other , both in appearance and beliefs. These characterisations reflect the views of society s majority, white men, essentially the creators and controllers of pop culture. Captain America was a hero, the epitome of American Patriotism. He was strong, smart and morally sound and he fought American enemies, the Nazis and communism. Magneto, from the same comic universe as Captain America, was a villain aiming for the eradication of all non mutants. The interesting thing about his evil acts is that they re almost justified by his previous experiences with oppression, he s the comic book representation of a victim fighting back and he s represented as villainous for that. Disabilities are represented atrociously in comic books because they re represented atrociously in pop culture. Steve Rogers was useless to the army until he was injected with an untested serum and was no longer frail. Superman used glasses to imply vision impairment, because, no superhero could be physically inadequate in any way, so his secret was safe. • 9. Teenage Stereotypes Lazy, Disrespectful, Selfish, Technology Crazed. These are just a few of the words that come to mind when the typical adult describes the everyday teenager. To some, these descriptions are taken as a given fact and lack recognition of the issue this poses to the individuals on the receiving end of such. This is the exact issue present in discrimination and stereotyping. For years, a specific group of individuals has been reduced to the negative connotations presented against them by every other group that lacks such quality such as their race, gender, appearance, age ...etc. Every instance applicable contains the common ground in which the other groups fail to recognize the harm in their superficial classifications of one another due to narrow minded tendencies. This is the basis to every single form of discrimination. An incredibly oppressed group who is by far, no stranger to these circumstances are teens who continuously receive the hostility of adults for simply belonging to their age group. Present day teenagers have come to be placed in an inaccurate box that classifies them as a selfish, immature group by adults due several factors, the most prominent being the media and the form it introduces teens to the average adult. The constant incorrect portrayal of teens in movies, t.v. and other platforms has caused adult audiences to believe these classifications and thus, cause several issues to be inflicted upon teens in several areas of their lives that calls for ... I believe that people should really focus on protecting themselves from diseases by keeping protection always on you if you feel that it s likely that you will end up in a eventful night that day. • 11. The Gap Between Development And Underdevelopment In Walter Rodney s book he emphasizes the difference between development and underdevelopment. According to Rodney, development is defined as a many sided process involving individuals, social classes, and society as a whole. At the level of the individual it s represented by increased skill, greater freedom, creativity, self discipline, responsibility and material well being. Rodney paid more attention to material well being, freedom and skill at this individual representation. For Rodney the individual development is directly linked to the development of the state. For the second side of development, social class/group, Rodney states that development implies an increasing capacity to regulate both internal and external relationships. For the society as a whole, development shows how man has the ability to overcome downfalls and better their lives through making use of the earth s resources available to him. In Rodney s book, he points out how Africafits into these definitions of development, but more so how they fit into the definition of underdevelopment. Developed states are characterized by being highly industrialized, they have low unemployment, improved social services, advanced farming industries with the technology to produce more in less time and with fewer people. Underdevelopment should not be understood as the opposite or lack of development but the very low level of development of a particular state when in comparison to other states (especially wealthier ... Fortunately, it s normally a temporary situation. Hereditary If one of your parents lost their hair, there s a good chance yours is hereditary. With great distances to cover in rural land and impressive salaries spend on cars in places such as New York City or Beverly Hills, there is always a market for domestic and international car manufacturers. The market has changed a lot in the last 10 years, and that is why we will both look at the provided automotive industry analysis from 2004 and go into the current landscape. We will look at the history of the American auto market and see the changes since 2004. We will determine how the market is divided in the current market and what global competition is prominent. We will continue by looking into new inventions in the auto industry and what effect car emissions have on innovation. Finally, we will look at what the consumer looks for in a new car in the current market. Competition and Market share Unlike other countries, Americans are very loyal to domestic brands. General Motors held the dominating share in 2004 (Highfill, Baki, Copus, Green, Smith Whineland, 2004) and does so still in 2014 with 17.8% market share (Statista Statistics, 2015). Right behind General Motors is Ford, another domestic manufacturer with 14.9% (Statista Statistics, 2015). Finally continuing to the number three sales expert, Toyota with 14.4% (Statista Statistics, 2015). This makes America very different from the global top manufacturers, where Toyota stands on top with 11.6% of the global market share, followed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Metaframeworks Perspective Analysis The metaframeworks perspective extracts concepts from various modalities that complement its unique way of dealing with systems, while unburdening itself from the constraints of previous models. Metaframeworks places emphasis on six separate domains that is believed to assist a therapist in understanding the client. Metaframeworks draws from familysystems theory, when observing an individual, but it expands family systems in order to include the individual s internal processes (EFEF). Each of these parts interact with one another on a daily basis, switching continuously back and forth dependent upon the individuals context. When an individual finds themselves in a situation that is uncomfortable or filled with tension, then the parts are capable of becoming extreme (polarization). The belief is that these polarized parts have taken the reigns from an individual s true self and in order to regain control an individual must depolarize. When clients enter therapy they are in a situation in which a part of themselves has become polarized. The individual s polarized part wants to return to homeostasis, but it is enmeshed within the roles it has taken on. In order to fully revert the part must recognize the self as having the ability to maintain effective leadership and it must change its interactions with the self and other parts (EEEE). In this manner of changing, it is believed that internal change happens at a faster rate. This also enables the therapist to trust the client to be able to make the changes necessary for themselves without the need for reframes. Breunlin, Schwartz, and Kune Karrer (1997) also emphasize their shift in focus from Minuchin s structural family therapy in regards to how change occurs. Freud s Worst Nightmare Perfect Sex Dream Brendan Gosse Cynthia Miller Making Monsters October 9, 2014 Freud s Worst Nightmare Perfect Sex Dream In her article, author Barbra Creed discusses a wide range of theories and assumptions on Freud and his relation to modern cinema, memories, and the development of the original horror film. She begins by describing Freud and his obsession with horror. She briefly mentions some of his case histories that entail themes of sexual abuse, hysteria, bestiality, phobias, and perversity, but primarily continues to inform us of his hatred of cinema. Considering Freud was born in 1856, he was just reaching his mid 50 s when early cinema really took off. Films and movies became the forefront of entertainment, the must see attraction by audiences across the country, and the newest daring art form. This was, however, an art form that Sir Sigmund Freud wanted nothing to do with. Despite having several films be inspired by his theories and writings, Freud refused to become involved with films and filmmaking, and even avoided being captured on camera in his daughter s home videos. The reason for this hatred however, is neglected and left questionable by Creed. The author points out that early cinema was known for stretching the boundaries on narrative filmmaking by incorporating elements of sex, desire, and eroticism, which were, of course, main focuses of Freud s countless writings. She continues her analysis by efficiently describing the modern self and the divided self: two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most relevant arguments for claiming that the film is good enough to recommend it is that the film has authorship personality; that is, throughout the movie audience may realise that there are lots of Burton s characteristic features: such as the visual style, contrasting the pastel colours (blue, green, orange, and pink) in the houses of Spring Hopes, with the Gothic ones (mainly black) in Edward s clothes and castle. It seems Edward is brought to the neighbourhood to show that there is another valid lifestyle; the otherness has to be accepted even though it seems to be too bizarre at first. Furthermore, the exploration of the otherness and the characters, such as Edward, who exist outside the boundaries of normality is a topic that is highly relevant, because it may show the audience that no matter how different a thing is, all that it is important is that is good enough for you. For years women have felt undervalued and oppressed because of the standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society. However, early evidence suggests that females were once renowned through the archetype of the great goddessbecause of a female s ability to create life through giving birth, justifying that the mother goddesswould be the most powerful of the gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of years to the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the once revered great goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving humiliation for the goddess involved. In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living things; the ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they relied on her nurturing care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring goddess in her journey to revive her murdered husband throughout the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus boat, and wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains, proving her devotion to him (19). Health, Education, And Women Raisa Feliz and Emmett Rafferty Interim Report #3 Health, Education and Women Over the past few decades Brazil has made major improvements to its healthcare system. This changed when Brazil implemented Unified Health System (Sistema Гљnico de SaГєde) which provided universal free healthcare coverage for its citizens. Since its enactment, 75% of Brazil s population now rely on Sistema Гљnico de SaГєde (SUS) as their sole provider of health coverage, making it the largest public health system in the world (World Health Organization). After my first attempt meditating, I came to the realization that it is much simpler to clear your mind in certain locations. I began meditating in the comfort of my home alongside a scented candle, but I noticed quite quickly that it is a lot easier to reduce stress when you aren t able to hear the sources of your stress parading around in the kitchen. After moving my meditation location to a hammock in my backyard, I was able to focus on my breath, the delicate inhalations and powerful exhalations, and the cool September air that cooled my body, as opposed to what was assigned in Chemistry earlier that day. Many scholars have written about the particularly intimate connection between food and family prevalent in Italian American culture. Herbert Gans interprets this to be a legacy of the traditional Southern Italian peasant culture that the immigrant generation successfully passed down to the younger generations in America. Thus, the connection is implied to be a transplanted cultural trait. However, when viewed in light of the social changes in America, this bond was inevitably affected by the Italians experiences in America. Italian American food culturewas a tradition shaped by changes outside and inside the family. An examination of the Italian American family of the interwar years (c.1919 1940) demonstrates that the critical role... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the character of the period is defined by the experiences of this single generational grouping. A common set of opportunities and constraints frames these experiences given that each generation tends to come of age within a short historical time period. The first portion of this essay, the will focus on the Italian American family of the interwar years. Tracing the development of such a family demonstrates how intergenerational negotiation was necessary for food to transcend its status as a marker of social inferiority and point of family conflict and become a unifying family force. As the large influx of Italian immigrants came to an end in the 1920s, the immigrants bonds with their home country became weaker and the second generation became numerically predominant. This change, as Alba points out, shifted the focus of communal concern: The immigrants anxiety about finding a niche, however temporary, in American society was succeeded by that of passing on a way of life to the new generation, one whose members were being raised in an environment vastly different from that which lived on in their parents memories. Accordingly, major generational conflicts erupted within the Italian American community during the earlier portion of interwar years. If not determined by the naked eye, further investigations are needed to determine the type of psoriasis. The public opinion defined abortion as a privacy right and open abortions at the request of a pregnant woman. Opponents of abortion came back with strong complaints that assumed the power of democratically elected legislatures. There are six main ways to abort a baby. The first is RU 486, it is a drug that promotes abortion taken after the mother misses her period. It can only be used up to the second month of pregnancy by blocking progesterone from developing the baby. In order to reflect their views on the problems in society, many authors of fiction, including Sir Thomas More of Utopia and George Orwell of Nineteen Eighty Four, use parallels in character, setting, government, and society to link their works to the real world. Characters are the appendages of a literary work, without well rounded characters, a novel is not complete. The London presented in 1984 is a ruin with the reminders of constant warfare. There are half torn buildings everywhere, and people live in horrid conditions, lacking in a steady electricity supply, rations, and running water. The London Orwell portrays is for the most part the naturalistically presented city during the Second World War and the years immediately afterward (Brown 92). In 1948, merely three years after the end of the Second World War, London was a torn down city as a result of years of endless bombing and warfare. Perhaps Orwell saw this fact and wanted to include the dreadfulness of warfare in his novel. Warfare, consequently, is the wrongdoing of the government. As Thomas Paine once wrote, Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. To reflect the political ideas of themselves, authors often incorporate into their works a style of government that dominates in the story. The syphogrants are comparable to the Members of Parliament who represent the public in England. Both of these monuments are more than just classical temples, they are symbols of the great civilizations of the past which constructed them. Achievements which have stood the test of time, despite the fact they have been stripped of their former glory. First of all let s consider the older of the two, the Parthenon. The Parthenon stands on the top of the Acropolis, a rocky outcrop in the center of Athens, Greece. Work began on the temple complex shortly after the war with Persia ended, from 447 to 432 BCE. The funds to finance the building of this grand monument came from the surplus of the war treasury of the Delian League, an alliance of city states created for the sake of defence against the Persians. Consequently, the misuse of rhetoric, war metaphors, and the assault on drugs have had a negative impact on society which has failed American citizens. Nationwide, the rate of persons admitted to prison on drug charges for black men is 13 times higher than that for White men (Fellner, 2000).
