Descriptive Essay About My Wedding
The year we were married was the most exciting and blissful time I can remember from beginning to
end. In the winter before the wedding, we bought a house in the sleepy town of San Carlos; where
Vince was raised and attended high school. The blue, cottage style dwelling suited us perfectly and I
had the time of my life decorating it with timeless treasures that I lovingly collected at flea markets
and antique shops. Once I transformed our house into a home, and the season turned into spring, we
embarked on a ten day sailing vacation in the British Virgin Islands. Vince chartered a 45ft. sailboat
and we set off into the sunset. After a morning sail, we anchored in a different secluded bay or idyllic
harbor to swim and snorkel with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was unforgettable event and Mom deserved every moment of it.
On May 1, 1990, we celebrated Oma s eightieth birthday with a surprise party at her favorite Chinese
restaurant. Ellen and Michael, Vince and I and Mom told Oma that we were planning to take her to an
intimate lunch and that she could all her favorite dishes. We will never forget the look on Oma s face
when we entered the dining room, and our family and friends cheered Happy Birthday in unison. Oma
never suspected that a surprise party was in store for her and the smile on Oma s face was precious
and priceless. Connie, Miel and a friend named Henry travelled from Los Angeles and our upstairs
neighbor from Holland attended with her new husband Piet. Oma could not belief her eyes. After a
multi course lunch of delicious Chinese specialty dishes, Oma was presented with an enormous
birthday cake. She was overwhelmed with happiness. The following day, to grant Oma her ultimate
wish, we drove from Redwood City to the Grand Canyon in a caravan of two cars. Ellen and I
coordinated the road trip. With our family friend Jack and our neighbors from Holland in one car and
Mom, Oma, Ellen and I in another car, we drove to Las Vegas, Nevada where we spent the first night
before driving on to Williams, Arizona to spend another night prior to entering Grand Canyon
National Park the following morning. The scenic geological wonder of the Grand Canyon was
glorious and more immense than we

Transnational Corporations And Human Rights Violations Essay
Introduction
This essay s thesis is that there is currently a lack legal apparatuses that can be used to hold
transnational corporations liable for human rights violations; specifically violation of labour rights.
This paper seeks to discuss various legal instruments that are applicable to transnational corporations
and human rights violations. It will also provide theoretical framework for understanding the nature of
human rights and legal framework of labour laws. This essay will address the following questions:
What is the legal status of transnational corporations? How can current legal apparatuses be used to
hold transnational corporations accountable for human rights violations? This essay will also consider
the case of human right violations by Nike Corporation in order to show that external pressures can
produce development and accountability.
2. Transnational Corporations
Current legal mechanisms of accountability fail to account for the fluid nature and power of influence
that transnational corporations possess. Transnational Corporations are not static in nature and have
tremendous economic and political influence over government policies. These factors result in a lack
of due diligence for transnational corporations to uphold human rights. TNCs are economic and legal
entities. In theory, TNCs are subject to the law of a country, to the jurisdiction of its courts, but often
this is abandoned by the government of countries. TNCs have tremendous influence

Argumentative Essay On Technology
Technology Research When people think about the word technology, most people think about
computers, cell phones, ipads, and the latest versions we are lucky enough to play with if we are
willing to pay the high price. Technology such as computers, have been around since the early 1940 s.
According to Spicer, the first computer made was called The Z3, built by German engineer, Konrad
Zuse. The Z3 computer was used for aerodynamic calculations, but was later destroyed in a bombing
in 1943. Technology has always been a benefit for physical education and special education classes.
Rosengard stated on the SPARK website, that Teaching physical education can be challenging for any
number of reasons, from a lack of equipment to keeping students engaged. He later then stated that To
meet these challenges, some educators are turning to technology to create more dynamic classes that
work for students with a wide range of fitness levels. Physical education classes have been lucky to be
able to use pedometers, heart rate monitors, stopwatches, etc to be able to physically see and record
how healthy their body is. When physical education classes started, teachers were lucky enough to
have a pencil, notepad, and a clock on the wall that they used for a stopwatch. Before technology
exploded, it was hard to record much of the information we are able to record and chart with
technology today. With nearly 100% of public schools and colleges having access to the internet,

The Law On Attempt Offences
The law on attempt offence is one of three principal crimes linked with inchoate offences the two
other key ones being incitement and conspiracy. This essay will however only be focusing on and
assessing the law on attempt offences.
Attempt crimes can be classified in two different ways: the first one being when the original plan of a
crime fails to succeed as consequence of an unforeseen factor. The second being when the bringing
about of a crime fails due to a mistake from the offender s side. Both categories involve the
perpetrator having taken actual steps towards committing the crime, but it failing for unexpected
reasons. Simply put any attempt to bring about a crime is a crime in itself.
This all sounds straightforward but in reality, it is far more complicated as what seems per instance,
how do you go about, and why, at all, can someone be punished for a crime which was not even
successfully committed those are questions worth asking. The reason that the conviction of an attempt
crime is possible has to do with the fact that the accused has done their best in bringing about the
crime. Ergo the mens rea was present, and it was merely external factors that prevented the crime from
happening. Thus, the accused can still, and is still seen as a danger to society. Secondly, one should
bear in mind that if this kind of interference was not possible, it would be virtually impossible for law
enforcement to intervene in crimes that were at the early stages of

It is a known pillar of the political philosophy known as realism that might makes right , a tenet that
can be traced back to Thucydides retelling of the Peloponnesian War. At its core, the saying conveys
the notion that those with power can push their idea of right into fruition. However, as our society
begins and continues to hold those with power accountable for their actions, an updated version of the
maxim is required: might must do right. Those with power are compelled to do right by the freshly
discovered strength of the little guy , and consequences can include international sanctions or even a
loss of power, be it gradual or sudden. This ideological transition, from irresponsible to accountable, is
exemplified in the realm of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immediately, the commitment thesis is called into question with a drastic disparity between these two
success stories. Both Germany and Japan are modern day global superpowers, but if we are to believe
that successful nation building has common traits, the idea that the common trait is commitment can
be immediately discarded. Granted, the number of troops in Japan was still high compared to the
number in other countries, but those other countries tend to have a much smaller population than
Japan, lessening the need for a great number of troops. It would foolish to think that sending the same
number of troops for every occupation regardless of population is an effective strategy, and that is why
effort is measured in troops per thousand citizens, not total

America and the English Language Essay
America and the English Language To what degree do the words you use define the person you are?
This is a central question in the hotly debated issue of making English the official language of the
United States. If English did become the official language, the rights of people who do not speak
English would be violated and the nation would be further segregated. Just as schools were segregated
in our past, this again would show that segregation equals discrimination. People must understand that
every citizen deserves the right to celebrate their diversity. The government need not interfere with the
words that come out of people s mouths. In a country torn by prejudice and segregation, the official
language should serve as a reminder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, how can America promise that if its laws are intolerant to the immigrants languages? By not
accepting their language, they are immediately set up to be an outsider. They are seen as foreigners as
opposed to citizens. People who don t speak English are often assumed not to be Americans. In order
to assist in the conversion of the immigrants to a new society, is necessary to provide them with signs,
documents, ballots that they can understand.
As Dickstein points out, denying them of materials in their language does not help them learn English
any faster. He proposes that America should not be English only but strive to be English Plus. By this
he means that we should not prohibit the use of other languages in order to make immigrants speak
English. On the contrary, he suggests that English Plus, like English only, demands that everything
feasible be done to encourage all Americans to achieve a minimum level of competence in English
and to share a vision of what it means to be American. People who do not speak English should be
responsible for learning the language. America should make access to English classes more attainable
and widespread. After all, a person does not just pick up a language because the government requires
it. It takes months or even years of practice and hard work. So in the mean time, it makes no sense to
deny them of articles in their own languages.
America was once described as a melting pot . This

Cross Cultural Dynamics Is A Transformative And Dynamic...
Course Learning Journal
The course, Cross Cultural Dynamics, is a transformative and dynamic program at Oxford Graduate
School that prepares students to meet the 21st century challenges of diversity in cultures to impact
both global and national workforce, organizations, and political institutions. The program also
incorporates religion, especially Christianity as an enduring and possibly inexorable factor, fostering
growth and understanding within and across cultures, values, norms and traditions to promote
communication and peace worldwide. This trend is closely aligned with philosophical issues of
humanity, beginning with the historical precedence set by Jesus working within and across varied
cultures, reconciling the ills of the world with the laws of God that not only peace must abound but
that salvation is assured for all who believe in the Word of God. The principal elements of the course
consist of cross cultural work that deals with complex worldviews on human relations, communicating
the Gospel in a complex and changing demography, and cross cultural framework built on the
integration of theological, biblical, and philosophical concepts on a global and postmodern society.
The program was both thought provoking and worthwhile. It sublimes Oxford Graduate School s
philosophy of incorporating religion and society through the various disciplines of adult learners to
transform the family, church, and community worldwide. Moreover, the core curriculum at Oxford

A Brief Note On The Remote Systems Administration
Introduction: in order to have local business enterprise that on the smaller size there needs to be a
consultant that can provide the company to associate with the employees that are new. One decent
approach to this would be simply setting up a system in order to get a lot more use out of your PCs
and peripherals. This is especially true for the small and home business clients. To share a solitary
broadband, we have the Systems permit that goes through with the Internet association among
different PCs and PC clients. These clients find themselves being able to share documents amongst
personal computers easily and effortlessly. With Systems administration we see that permits one to
utilize a printer that is associated with an alternate PC, and to be able to access assets that are different
and media. An example of this would be music and pictures that are remotely put away within the
workplace environment. The Remote systems administration allows for you to have a more appealing
and ostensibly office environment that is secure that contain little links hanging around. It can give
one a lot more adaptability when it comes to finding your IT unit, and you can utilize your portable
PC from any place in your office. It can also permit you to give your guests some remote web access
or hot work area offices. With this Ethernet based wired systems administration can even now have
the edge over remote hardware in being more dependable, lower cost and offering quicker association

There Should Be Year Round School Essay
Should schools be year round. Year round school could help in many reasons. It could help with
academic achievement. It could be horrible though, because it would ruin family plans. There have
been a ton of arguments about if this should be a thing or not. The whole country would be affected in
a terrific way and a horrible way, if the summer was removed, I would be on the pro side for some
certain reasons.
Removing any sort of a long break from school can improve a child s academic achievement, The Pros
and Cons of year round school stated. If we took away break, then we would be more like a genius
and more people could go to college and get better jobs. People might not fail as much. Kids would be
able to get more scholarships. We would remember all of the things in school and be smarter the next
year. Kids would not be held back or have to go to summer school. It would help the family because
they might not have to pay for college and summer school. Kids could work better in groups because

Jack The Ripper Essay
Jack The Ripper
In August 1888, the first of a series of murders was committed by a killer who became known as Jack
the Ripper. To this day the identity of the killer remains a mystery. Five women were brutally killed in
the East End of London, by a maniac who appeared to kill without warning and with no remorse.
1)What can you learn from Source A?
Source A tells us that the two murders were aimed directly at the poorest people in East End at the
time, and usually because of the poverty at that time, the women had to revert to prostitution so this
tells us that the murderer had a great dislike for poor people or mainly prostitutes, but there was no
clear motive for him to do it. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than that they all agree in the fact that they all agree that they were very peculiar ways, and that
the killer put in an excess of effort.
3)How useful are Sources D and E…?
The evidence of Elizabeth Long, the rippers only survivor, described the man she had seen Annie
Chapman, another victim talking to prior to her death. The description is quite vague as she only
comments on what she could make out when it was dark and from far away, so it seems quite
unreliable and it doesn t tell us enough, so concentrating on this to find the Ripper would be a waste of
time. But it was an eye witness account so it would be quite useful. Source E relies on an article
published in a local newspaper, so it could be biased, and it also relies on the information of only one
informant and that could also be biased. The source was produced to inform the neighborhood about
they could be on the look out and be aware that there was a murderer loose. The article says that it is
basically the police s fault that these murders keep happening because they should have strengthened
and he went from each police station to another, but with no avail. This is saying that the police didn t
pay any attention until the first murder happened. Then the informant claimed he

Peer Reflection
Peer Reflection Report
For my peer reflection assignment, I chose to review a video posted by Lana Pachuca. I chose her
video because I have watched most of my classmates videos over the past few weeks, however this

helping a client deal with coping skills for anxiety and I was interested in seeing the outcomes of the
client using the coping skills over the course of a week.
I felt that Lana did a great job of demonstration how to use reflection of content back to the client. For
example, Lana asked her client how the past week of using the coping skills turned out for her, and

However, I have realized that counseling skills can be learned, practiced and mastered over time.
Although I believe that I have some natural abilities that can be considered helping skills in
counseling, I have learned that I have some strengths that can be refined and continually strengthened,
while those skills that I am naturally weak in can be the skills that I focus on developing through
practice and research. For example, I know that I do well with making people feel comfortable by
exhibiting an open posture, while attending to them with relevant open ended questions. On the other
end, I struggle with using various sentence stems when reflecting back emotions and content to the
client. I also found myself struggling at times clearly communicating directions to interventions that I
would like for a client to try during a counseling session. It was an enlightening experience to be able
to watch my classmates learn and grow in developing their counseling skills and techniques too. I felt
like we are all able to not only learning from one another but have the opportunity to engage in some
of the modeling techniques we learning about in the behavioral interventions section of our text

How Does Macbeth Have Too Much Power
Macbeth demonstrates an important lesson. It demonstrates that having too much power makes people
make harsh decisions. It also shows you should trust your best judgement and not always the one that
you are told to do. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare Macbeth is visited by witches that tell
him he will be king. He first thinks nothing of it, but when his wife hears of the prophecy she pushes
him to fulfil his destiny . His wife convinces him to kill the king so he can be crowned. After killing
the king, he executes the chamberlains to show his new power as king. Macbeth and his wife kill, or
try to execute the next people in line, to ensure that they stay in power. They become greedy for power
and abuse the power they already have. At the end of the play Macbeth and his wife get what they
deserve, which is death.
Power when abused, can create more enemies than allies. Macbeth had turned on all his trusted friends
because of his need for the crown. His lack of friends and allies leaves him exposed and vulnerable.
Which allows his wife to prey on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The surface is a normal historic story of a kingdom s worst ruler. The witches say Fair is foul, and foul
is fair , which foreshadows saying that they will get what they deserve and they will think it is unfair,
when what is fair is death. Which also shows that Shakespeare wanted to point out that people might
think that something is unfair when it is truly fair and when something seems to be fair it is viewed as
unfair to another. Shakespeare writes many of his plays where you can read them on the surface but
when you look beyond the surface he has a clear motive for his writing. Shakespeare s stories aren t
meant to be just read on the surface. To fully understand a piece of literature you have to dig deeper to

Lizzie Borden Murder
The Murders in Fall River
On August 4, 1892 at 92 Second Street in Fall River Massachusetts, stepmom Abby and father,
Andrew Borden were slaughtered by an axe in their home ( The Trial of Lizzie Borden ). Lizzie s
biological mother died in 1862, and her father Andrew remarried the spinstress, Abby Durfee Gray.
Since it was a stepmother to be murdered, it raised the question as to if Lizzie really liked her
stepmother. Abby s body was in the guest room, murdered an hour before Andrew, who was on a sofa.
Lizzie, their daughter, was first suspected then convicted based on the evidence. A year later she was
pronounced innocent. What really happened will remain a mystery because someone s word on what

Three days later, on August 9th, Lizzie started to be questioned in the courtroom over police
headquarters. During the first four hours of the examination Lizzie gave confusing and contradicting
information pertaining to where she was and what she was doing. Two days later, on August 11th,
Lizzie was read her rights and arrested by Chief Hillard for the murder of her parents. The following
day Lizzie made a plea of not guilty to the charges against her before being transported by rail car to a
jail located in Taunton, an area located eight miles from Fall River. August 22nd Lizzie was returned
to the Fall River courtroom for her preliminary hearing, after a criminal complaint has been filed by
the prosecutor, next is to determine whether there is enough evidence to require a trial. At the end of
the hearing, Judge Josiah Blaisdell pronounced Lizzie as probably guilty and ordered her to face a
grand jury. From November 15th to the 21st Lizzie faced the grand jury to plead not guilty. It wasn t
until December first, that a testimony was made against Lizzie by a friend of the families. Alex
Russell appeared before the grand jury to make his statement about the blue dress he saw Lizzie burn.
Lizzie responded with the fact that the dress was covered in old paint. The question then is, why was
she burning it the day of the murders? The statement from Russell matched with an earlier testimony
made by Bridget, she claimed Lizzie was wearing a blue dress the morning of the murders. Since both
testimonies matched, it was enough evidence to convince the jury to indict, formally accuse of or
charge with a serious crime, Lizzie for the murder of her parents. On June 5th, 1893 Andrew Jennings
and George Robinson represented the defendant while Knowlton and Thomas Moody argued the case
of the prosecution. Moody opened the case with a two hour long speech while

The Level Of Competition And Their Business Strategy...
The five forces is a framework created to help analyze the level of competition and their business
strategy within an industry. An industry structure can drive competition and profitability. The structure
of the five forces differs by industry. In the pharmaceutical market, powerful rivalry between
dominant manufactures such as Johnson Johnson, Novartis and Pfizer and the bargain power of
hospital and pharmacies that places huge orders for pharmaceuticals are strong, while the threat of
substitutes, threat of entry and the power of the supplier are more gentle or benevolent. Companies
aware of the five forces help them understand the structure of its industry and establish a position that
allows them to be more profitable.
The Five Forces The five competitive forces that shape strategy are, (1) Threat of New Entrants, (2)
Threat of substitutes, (3) Bargaining Power of Suppliers (4) Bargaining Power of Buyers, and (5)
Rivalry among Competitors. Those considered rivalry have measurable factors that rank each force as
Low, Medium or High strength. The combined strength of the five forces determines how appealing
the industry is to possible threats. The five forces are briefly defined below.
Threat of New Entrants The easier it is for new companies to enter the industry, the fierce the
competition will be. There are certain factors than can reduce the threat of new entrants. Some
examples of these factors are:

Relationship Between Gender Bias And Gender Essay
This study focuses on the relationship between gender bias, gender ideology, and gender roles in
everyday life. The study analyzes how differences in gender affect professors behavior in the
classroom. My research question is how do men and women view professors treatment of students
based on gender? Some basic guiding questions are: In your opinion and experience, do professors
treat certain groups of students differently? Who are these students? Specifically, do professors treat
men vs. women differently in the classroom? Why do you think professors do/don t do this? My
hypothesis was that respondents would think professors call on men in the classroom due to their
stereotypical qualities of being competitive, confident, and dominant. The overwhelming majority of
people describe women as shy, compassionate, and timid . Men are more willing to speak up and
shout out an answer in the classroom because of their confidence and dominance. Given these
stereotypical traits it would be more likely for a male to answer a question, get called on, or engage in
a conversation with the teacher rather than a women because of women s timid traits . I believe that
the majority of men are less likely to filter a response and think before they speak in class, therefore
leading them to get called on by the professor to share their opinion. From my own experience I have
seen this begin to change over the years possibly because of the increase in women in the social and
political

Before, characterizing the family was straightforward. Couples had a tendency to live together after

period, the youngsters per family fell by 10% from 2.0 to 1.8, however, this figure fluctuates

Except for a short interference in the last 1960s, this descending pattern has proceeded to the present
time. By 1974 the unrefined birth rate (temporary) remained at 15 births for every 1,000 populaces,
the most reduced level at any point recorded. This decay has been hard to clarify, particularly since the
broadened post World War II time of increased birth rates accomplices have now entered the
regenerative ages, accordingly significantly expanding the extent of prime childbearing age lady.
Information acquired by the Statistics Department s Present Populace Review demonstrate that since

Solving The Demographic Transition Model
Guatemala, the most populous country in Central America, is a textbook example of a country firmly
in stage 2 of the demographic transition model. A country steeped in rich culture, Guatemala still has a
sizeable population of Mayans, the ethnic group that populated the geographical region pre
colonization. This minority is often the victim of marginalization, much like the Native Americans of
the United States. This, combined with the pressures of a rapidly increasing population, create many
complicated issues for the country to deal with as its next generation comes of age. High fertility rates
come with the territory of Guatemala s current position in the demographic transition model. If
Guatemala doesn t keep its population in check ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way to destroy the vicious cycle of high birth rates is to empower women through social change,
specifically, education. There is a proven connection between the education level of a mother and how
many children she will have, statistically. In the United States, birth rates of women with less than 12
years of total education are more than triple their college educated counterparts. This can logically be
applied to Guatemala s situation to find that if more women are educated, not only in school, but in
proper child care and contraception use, their Total Fertility Rate should rapidly decrease to a more
sustainable level. This is a one two punch: not only will women have less children, the ones they do
have will likely be raised more effectively and are less likely to die of disease in infancy. Guatemala
must engage in a campaign to enroll more girls in school. This will be difficult, due to the culture of
the country. Women are expected to stay at home and work the fields. Culture must shift to make
progress, as it so often does. Guatemala s population issues don t just deal with the numbers. Even
once their population growth is slowed to a safe level, the people of Guatemala deserve a higher
quality of life on average. As stated before, more than half their population is below the poverty line.
Approximately 30% of their labor force works in agriculture, and it only makes up 13.5% of their
GDP. Many of the poorest households in this category

Torture Flaws
The Hordes of Genghis Khan and the British Government may appear completely different. However,
when examined with a trained eye, one will find that they do share one major similarity. That being
their extensive use of torture. Now, in this day and age torture is quite the hot button topic, this is
especially true with the recent possibility of the US going back into torture. Although some may think
America can use torture, it is ultimately foolish for the U.S. to utilize this brutal tactic, as it proves to
be a Monkey s Paw for the entire nation. Security of Nation As widely condemned as torture is, some
do argue that, despite its myriad of flaws it does achieve results. An example, these supporters
commonly use is that since the Bush Administration (2001 2009) allowed it there has been a
tremendous absence of terror attacks within the US. Thus seemingly proving that torture was the real
reason that terror attacks stopped in the US. However, this mentality carries copious flaws along with
it. The main one being that since the Obama Administration(2009 2017) stopped using torture there
has been tranquility as well (Gutting, McMahan 17). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes multiple famous anti torture supporters to collectively agree, that Torture is justifiable,
only when used to protect others (Gutting, McMahan 5). So in theory, if someone planted a bomb in
Times Square and the only way for the authorities to find it was to use torture, then in that scenario, it
s alright because it s saving the lives of others. However, while this type of analogy may work for
other situations, but it does not work in the defense of torture. This is due to the fact that countless
reliable sources have given valid examples of information being gained without the need to use
torture. Such as the men who helped locate Saddam Hussein by using non violent interrogation

Fast Track Network Protocol Is Unique
As already discussed, this Fast Track network protocol is unique. This has become the point of
curiosity for individuals and firms to try and halt the Fast Track protocol.
Thus the majority would be the giFT project. With reference to Bergner, the preliminary indication of
giFT was the regularly used interface to FastTrack. This giFT almost reached the point to break the
FastTrack protocol. Therefore, FastTrack responded by customizing their encryption technique
making it more complex.
Since the FastTrack protocol became more complex, the giFT changed to enhance a system that can
accumulate many assorted heterogeneous networks and even then, acted as an entity which can share
files.
From then on, it was transformed to giFT Internet File Transport. This transformation triggered the
development of a brand new and improvised network protocol very similar to FastTrack. That is
known as OpenFT.
6.1 The OpenFT Architecture
OpenFT protocol divides the peers in its domain into different roles but instead of 2 tier architecture, it
has added an extra tier building 3 tier control architecture as demonstrated in the figure.
Peers are divided into different categories based on few factors. They are network access performance,
processing speed, usage of its memory as well as accessibility.
The first tier is made up of numerous traditional machines which are also called as User peers. Every
peer in this tier has connections to big group of search peers. The user peers later on might

Geography Is Destiny Dbq
There is a saying that Geography is destiny . For early civilizations, geography was an obstacle when
it came to survival. As people settled in permanent locations, they relied on the local geographical
features to sustain themselves. As people relied on geography, it helped shape the development of
early civilizations, such as to provide many natural barriers, trade routes, and fertile land. China, for
example, was able to develop and prosper due to its natural barriers. Based on document six, China is
surrounded by the Pacific Ocean (to the west), the Himalayan Mountains (to the southwest), and the
Gobi Desert (up north). These natural barriers helped stop foreigners from invading China, thus
helping the civilization develop. Furthermore,

Water Scarcity in Michigan Essay example
Nestle in Michigan is a video clip on YouTube about the Nestle corporations bottled water plants with
a primary focus being on the plant located in Stanwood, Michigan (Menzies, 2010). Nestle has a 99
year lease on property that only cost them $63,000, they received $10 million in tax abatements , and
they are pumping water at a rate of 218 gallons per minute (down from the original 450 gallons per
minute) (Menzies, 2010). In other words, Nestle is pumping dangerously large amounts of water that
is free to them as property owners, selling it for a profit, and not being subjected to the same tax as
other land owners. House Bill 6443 was introduced in 2010 to keep well water withdrawal from being

It is now an issue that will have them both wasting time and money on investigations, lawyers, and

Olson said, Water is a transient gift on earth for life (Menzies, 2010). To me this means water was
provided to us by God as a means of survival and ongoing life. Water belongs to no one person yet all
of us at the same time. A better solution than House Bill 6443 would be a bill that instead imposes a
high tax on the withdrawal of water for commercial use. Honestly I can t believe there is no such law.
Government should play a larger role in the preservation of our natural resources; however it is
ultimately up to us as individuals to be conscious consumers. Without consumers there are no markets.
I found this video to be quite disturbing. I have always felt bottled water was a waste but never
realized to what extent. This video is another affirmation of what a waste of money and gross,
unnecessary, waste of natural resource bottled water is. Before anyone ever sold bottled water, the
market for it did not exist; there was no demand for bottled water. People carried it with them, found
an alternate source, or went without. I too have purchased

The class consist of 8 students and two lead teachers. The purpose of this observation is to observe
and evaluate the classroom environment, activities taking place, the toddlers in the classroom and the
interactions between the staff and children.
Early Discoveries Center in Port Jefferson in my opinion is phenomenal. The staff at the facility made

Rosalind Franklin Stereotypes
Throughout the ages, women have been have been subject to gender stereotypes, such as women
should be at home, taking care of children and hearth, and should not be out conducting business,
studying science, etc. If they were making progress outside the home, their work was often not
credited properly, such in the case of Rosalind Franklin, whose photograph 51 evolved the fields of
science, medicine and more. Rosalind Franklin was born in London, England in 1920 to a wealthy
Jewish family. Though, her family valued education and public service, some sources say that her
father did not believe in university education for women. Nevertheless, Franklin enrolled at Newnham
Women s College at Cambridge University to study chemistry and physics. Franklin was part of a
graduate fellowship, but she quit after one year, choosing to work at the British Coal Utilization
Research Association (CURA). Her work there, which included studies of carbon and graphite
microstructures, served as the basis for her Ph.D. thesis in physical chemistry at Cambridge in 1945.
In 1947, she decided to move to Paris, where she worked in the Laboratoire Central des Services
Chimiques de L Etat, learning X ray diffraction techniques from Jacques Mering, who was the head of
the lab and is best remembered for his influence on Franklin. Just a few years later, in 1951, Franklin

Essay On Earth Day
Earth Day

2020 marks for the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day, in that year the main focus will be to end
plastic pollution (Earth Day). The first Earth Day was on April 22, the 1970s all throughout the U.S.
Know it s a global event that people from all over the world celebrated. Before the movement started
in the 1970 s, a great oil spill happened that Santa Barbara had in California, 1969. Thus, the oil spill
encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson of having a day to focus on helping the environment and teach
the public of natural disasters (History of earth day, 2017). Millions of people went to the street to
protest for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development. The natural
environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the industrial revolution. In addition, humans
have been overwhelmed with gaining wealth that they have ignored the environmental needs for many
years. It can be said that this movement has been a great success in protecting the environment. There
are three main reasons why this movement is successful: The first, is the strong focus of the
movement, which promotes public awareness of pollution problems, the second, is all the positive
influence the main media has have to the movement and lastly, is the overall knowledge that people
receive after participating in an earth day activity. First, Gaylord Nelson wanted there to be a

The Role Of Dysphasia In Parkinson s Disease
What is dysphasia? Dysphasia is defined as the difficulty of food moving from the mouth to the
stomach (Logemann, 1983); however, this definition can be expanded. According to Logemann
(1983), this definition has been expanded to include all of the motor, behavioral, and sensory acts that
are needed to prepare the body for the process of the swallow as well as cognitive abilities, and
physiological responses to the smell of the food or liquid. A disorder can occur to any of these
functions, so typically the process is broken down by the phases of the swallow. Such as, oral
dysphasia, pharyngeal dysphasia, and esophageal dysphasia (Logemann, 1983). The list of signs and
symptoms are endless due to the fact that the process has so many steps, ... Show more content on

In recent years statistics have shown that this occurs anywhere from one third for four fifths of
patients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson s disease. According to Rajaei et al. (2014), the
statistics are higher, saying that oropharyngeal dysphasia occurs in up to 80% of Parkinson s patients
but increases up to 95 100% of patients in the latter more progressed stages of the disease. This occurs
because of the motor loss in the patient s body from the lack of dopamine being produced in the brain
(Ellerston et al., 2016). According to (Argolo et al., 2013), rigidity and brandykinesia formed in the
oralpharyngeal muscles, lack of coordination between breathing and swallowing, and the loss or
reduction of sensation in the oral cavity and pharynx are all involved in the patients dysphasia.
Ellerston et al. (2016) reviewed studies done on Parkinson s patients diagnosed with dysphasia using
videofluoroscopic modified barium swallow (MBS) study. According to Ellerston et al. (2016), these
studies revealed that the patients had impaired laryngeal movement, palatal elevation deficits, lack of
epiglottic movement, anterior hyoid bone movement, and vocal fold adduction deficits. The modified
barium swallowing studies also revealed that the patients with Parkinson s also showed prolonged
pharyngeal transit times (Ellerston et al., 2016). Because of these deficits in the musculature Ellerston
et al.(2016), reported that it would lead to vallecular pooling and residue, possible laryngeal
penetration, and possible aspiration which could lead to respiratory illnesses or aspiration pneumonia.
Ellerston et al. (2016), also revealed from reviewing past literature that when comparing the patients
results of the bedside screening to the results of the MBS, almost 80% of the swallowing disorders
went unnoticed, including patients who were aspirating. Ellerston et

about partner gender and sexual identity, so they excluded those girls from the analyses on a pairwise

females answered and labeled themselves as heterosexual (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson,

Bioethics And Medical Ethics
1. ETHICS
The research work is on ethics and morality. These are often used interchangeably. Moral is from
Latin word moralis which means manners or customs. Looking at it critically ethics does not teach
how to live moral life, it merely help to clarify what is right or wrong which assists in achieving one s
goal. While moral is about purpose, intention, motive and choice which are either right or wrong in
the light of manners and customs. Morality is applied to acts and behavior while ethics is applied to
the person.
2. BIOETHICS
The research work is on bioethics and medical ethics. Bioethics is an area of philosophy that focuses
on ethical issues that comes from biomedical scientific technologies and a subfield of ethics. Bioethics
is not for philosophers alone but it is multidisciplinary in nature which makes the field very exciting
and important. Bioethicists learn from doctors and other scientist working in research and clinic are of
biomedicine. The heterogeneous nature of the contributions to this concept enriches it as a discipline
thereby improving its relevance and value. Bioethics is continually being improved by clinical, legal
and philosophy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

health and social care professionals, lawyers, policy makers and philosophers are involved, but it is

in particular, but bioethics is more on the theoretical ethical issues and concepts that surrounds all
biomedical technologies like, xenotransplantation, stem cell therapy, cloning, and the use of animal
research. Medical ethics covers practical application in clinical settings as well as work on its history,

Strawson And Jean Donnellan Summary
Donnellan, in Reference and Definite Description, outlines two uses of definite descriptions. He
argues that definite descriptions can either have an attributive or a referential use. While theories
outlined by Strawson and Russell account for a single use, Donnellan advocates for both. To explain
both the attributive and referential uses, I will review two examples. The first example, put forth by
Donnellan, is for the statement Smith s murderer is insane. There are two ways of interpreting this
statement, based on whether the definite description attributes or refers. In one situation, the audience
does not know who murdered Smith. If this is the case, then the speaker does not pick someone out.
Instead, the speaker s statement uses the definite description attributively. Here, the definite
description itself is what is most significant. Meanwhile, if someone, whom we will call Jones, has
been accused of the murder, the use changes. When the speaker now makes the statement, the
audience picks out Jones as the referent. The definite description has a referential use. It acts as a tool
for picking out a particular one or thing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, when we say, Smith s murderer is insane, the implication is not true. The consequences of
this differ based on which use of description the speaker is employing. Under an attributive usage,
there would be no person who we can truly attribute insanity to. Meanwhile, with a referential usage,
the speaker could still successfully refer to Jones. However, the description, insane murderer would no
longer fit Jones. The act of picking out is the key function for a referential use of a description. Even if
the description is wrong, reference is still

The Pathogenesis Associated With Sle
Immune Mechanisms The pathogenesis associated with SLE is complex and attributed to various
factors. These factors include sex, the imbalance of hormones, and ones hypothalamus, pituitary, and
adrenal axes. Others have said that it is attributed to the cells in your body that are dying, over active
help of the T cells in the body, defective B cells, and the shifting of the T helper 1(Th1) to T helper 2
(Th2), which are responsible for the B cells causing them to produce these pathogenic antibodies that
cause SLE. (Cambridge, Teodorescu, et al. 2006.)
Roles of T cells and B cells The immune system is composed of many types of cells, such as T cells
and B cells, which are cells that defend your body from foreign substrates. When ... Show more

B cells, in particular, play a major role in SLE as then hyperactivity, caused by such cytokines as IL
10(discussed below) contribute to the pro inflammation of antibodies
IL 10 gene In Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, expression of the IL 10 gene located on chromosome 1
(1q31 q32) is often inhibited. As the gene name implies, the gene encodes the cytokine IL 10, which is
produced by inflammatory cells, such as monocytes and macrophages. (Yan, Bing, and Yi Liu. 2009).
When this gene is inhibited the patient will show the signs of SLE, which are discoid lesions, and
neurological disorder. When these symptoms begin to appear one can conclude that they have
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. The function of the IL 10 gene is to enhance B cell production and
the in tissue leading to the production of autoantibodies. This gene influences many other genes in the
body which are associated with inflammation.
Programmed cell death (PDCD1)
Another gene with altered expression in SLE patients is the Programmed Cell death (PDC1), which
encodes for the PD 1 Protein. The PDCD1 over expression has been observed to be in ethnic groups,
such as Mexicans and certain European populations from Sweden. This polymorphism affects the
transcription factors which contribute to the non tolerance and the hyperactivity of lymphocyte is a
major characteristic in SLE. Under normal expression Levels, the PD 1 protein helps to regulate T cell

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Wedding The year we were married was the most exciting and blissful time I can remember from beginning to end. In the winter before the wedding, we bought a house in the sleepy town of San Carlos; where Vince was raised and attended high school. The blue, cottage style dwelling suited us perfectly and I had the time of my life decorating it with timeless treasures that I lovingly collected at flea markets and antique shops. Once I transformed our house into a home, and the season turned into spring, we embarked on a ten day sailing vacation in the British Virgin Islands. Vince chartered a 45ft. sailboat and we set off into the sunset. After a morning sail, we anchored in a different secluded bay or idyllic harbor to swim and snorkel with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was unforgettable event and Mom deserved every moment of it. On May 1, 1990, we celebrated Oma s eightieth birthday with a surprise party at her favorite Chinese restaurant. Ellen and Michael, Vince and I and Mom told Oma that we were planning to take her to an intimate lunch and that she could all her favorite dishes. We will never forget the look on Oma s face when we entered the dining room, and our family and friends cheered Happy Birthday in unison. Oma never suspected that a surprise party was in store for her and the smile on Oma s face was precious and priceless. Connie, Miel and a friend named Henry travelled from Los Angeles and our upstairs neighbor from Holland attended with her new husband Piet. Oma could not belief her eyes. After a multi course lunch of delicious Chinese specialty dishes, Oma was presented with an enormous birthday cake. She was overwhelmed with happiness. The following day, to grant Oma her ultimate wish, we drove from Redwood City to the Grand Canyon in a caravan of two cars. Ellen and I coordinated the road trip. With our family friend Jack and our neighbors from Holland in one car and Mom, Oma, Ellen and I in another car, we drove to Las Vegas, Nevada where we spent the first night before driving on to Williams, Arizona to spend another night prior to entering Grand Canyon National Park the following morning. The scenic geological wonder of the Grand Canyon was glorious and more immense than we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Transnational Corporations And Human Rights Violations Essay Introduction This essay s thesis is that there is currently a lack legal apparatuses that can be used to hold transnational corporations liable for human rights violations; specifically violation of labour rights. This paper seeks to discuss various legal instruments that are applicable to transnational corporations and human rights violations. It will also provide theoretical framework for understanding the nature of human rights and legal framework of labour laws. This essay will address the following questions: What is the legal status of transnational corporations? How can current legal apparatuses be used to hold transnational corporations accountable for human rights violations? This essay will also consider the case of human right violations by Nike Corporation in order to show that external pressures can produce development and accountability. 2. Transnational Corporations Current legal mechanisms of accountability fail to account for the fluid nature and power of influence that transnational corporations possess. Transnational Corporations are not static in nature and have tremendous economic and political influence over government policies. These factors result in a lack of due diligence for transnational corporations to uphold human rights. TNCs are economic and legal entities. In theory, TNCs are subject to the law of a country, to the jurisdiction of its courts, but often this is abandoned by the government of countries. TNCs have tremendous influence ... • 4. Argumentative Essay On Technology Technology Research When people think about the word technology, most people think about computers, cell phones, ipads, and the latest versions we are lucky enough to play with if we are willing to pay the high price. Technology such as computers, have been around since the early 1940 s. According to Spicer, the first computer made was called The Z3, built by German engineer, Konrad Zuse. The Z3 computer was used for aerodynamic calculations, but was later destroyed in a bombing in 1943. Technology has always been a benefit for physical education and special education classes. Rosengard stated on the SPARK website, that Teaching physical education can be challenging for any number of reasons, from a lack of equipment to keeping students engaged. He later then stated that To meet these challenges, some educators are turning to technology to create more dynamic classes that work for students with a wide range of fitness levels. Physical education classes have been lucky to be able to use pedometers, heart rate monitors, stopwatches, etc to be able to physically see and record how healthy their body is. When physical education classes started, teachers were lucky enough to have a pencil, notepad, and a clock on the wall that they used for a stopwatch. Before technology exploded, it was hard to record much of the information we are able to record and chart with technology today. With nearly 100% of public schools and colleges having access to the internet, many classes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Law On Attempt Offences The law on attempt offence is one of three principal crimes linked with inchoate offences the two other key ones being incitement and conspiracy. This essay will however only be focusing on and assessing the law on attempt offences. Attempt crimes can be classified in two different ways: the first one being when the original plan of a crime fails to succeed as consequence of an unforeseen factor. The second being when the bringing about of a crime fails due to a mistake from the offender s side. Both categories involve the perpetrator having taken actual steps towards committing the crime, but it failing for unexpected reasons. Simply put any attempt to bring about a crime is a crime in itself. This all sounds straightforward but in reality, it is far more complicated as what seems per instance, how do you go about, and why, at all, can someone be punished for a crime which was not even successfully committed those are questions worth asking. The reason that the conviction of an attempt crime is possible has to do with the fact that the accused has done their best in bringing about the crime. Ergo the mens rea was present, and it was merely external factors that prevented the crime from happening. Thus, the accused can still, and is still seen as a danger to society. Secondly, one should bear in mind that if this kind of interference was not possible, it would be virtually impossible for law enforcement to intervene in crimes that were at the early stages of ... • 7. James Dobbins It is a known pillar of the political philosophy known as realism that might makes right , a tenet that can be traced back to Thucydides retelling of the Peloponnesian War. At its core, the saying conveys the notion that those with power can push their idea of right into fruition. However, as our society begins and continues to hold those with power accountable for their actions, an updated version of the maxim is required: might must do right. Those with power are compelled to do right by the freshly discovered strength of the little guy , and consequences can include international sanctions or even a loss of power, be it gradual or sudden. This ideological transition, from irresponsible to accountable, is exemplified in the realm of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Immediately, the commitment thesis is called into question with a drastic disparity between these two success stories. Both Germany and Japan are modern day global superpowers, but if we are to believe that successful nation building has common traits, the idea that the common trait is commitment can be immediately discarded. Granted, the number of troops in Japan was still high compared to the number in other countries, but those other countries tend to have a much smaller population than Japan, lessening the need for a great number of troops. It would foolish to think that sending the same number of troops for every occupation regardless of population is an effective strategy, and that is why effort is measured in troops per thousand citizens, not total ... This is a central question in the hotly debated issue of making English the official language of the United States. If English did become the official language, the rights of people who do not speak English would be violated and the nation would be further segregated. Just as schools were segregated in our past, this again would show that segregation equals discrimination. People must understand that every citizen deserves the right to celebrate their diversity. The government need not interfere with the words that come out of people s mouths. In a country torn by prejudice and segregation, the official language should serve as a reminder ... By not accepting their language, they are immediately set up to be an outsider. They are seen as foreigners as opposed to citizens. People who don t speak English are often assumed not to be Americans. In order to assist in the conversion of the immigrants to a new society, is necessary to provide them with signs, documents, ballots that they can understand. As Dickstein points out, denying them of materials in their language does not help them learn English any faster. He proposes that America should not be English only but strive to be English Plus. By this he means that we should not prohibit the use of other languages in order to make immigrants speak English. On the contrary, he suggests that English Plus, like English only, demands that everything feasible be done to encourage all Americans to achieve a minimum level of competence in English and to share a vision of what it means to be American. People who do not speak English should be responsible for learning the language. America should make access to English classes more attainable and widespread. After all, a person does not just pick up a language because the government requires it. It takes months or even years of practice and hard work. Course Learning Journal The course, Cross Cultural Dynamics, is a transformative and dynamic program at Oxford Graduate School that prepares students to meet the 21st century challenges of diversity in cultures to impact both global and national workforce, organizations, and political institutions. The program also incorporates religion, especially Christianity as an enduring and possibly inexorable factor, fostering growth and understanding within and across cultures, values, norms and traditions to promote communication and peace worldwide. This trend is closely aligned with philosophical issues of humanity, beginning with the historical precedence set by Jesus working within and across varied cultures, reconciling the ills of the world with the laws of God that not only peace must abound but that salvation is assured for all who believe in the Word of God. The principal elements of the course consist of cross cultural work that deals with complex worldviews on human relations, communicating the Gospel in a complex and changing demography, and cross cultural framework built on the integration of theological, biblical, and philosophical concepts on a global and postmodern society. A Brief Note On The Remote Systems Administration Introduction: in order to have local business enterprise that on the smaller size there needs to be a consultant that can provide the company to associate with the employees that are new. One decent approach to this would be simply setting up a system in order to get a lot more use out of your PCs and peripherals. This is especially true for the small and home business clients. To share a solitary broadband, we have the Systems permit that goes through with the Internet association among different PCs and PC clients. These clients find themselves being able to share documents amongst personal computers easily and effortlessly. With Systems administration we see that permits one to utilize a printer that is associated with an alternate PC, and to be able to access assets that are different and media. An example of this would be music and pictures that are remotely put away within the workplace environment. The Remote systems administration allows for you to have a more appealing and ostensibly office environment that is secure that contain little links hanging around. It can give one a lot more adaptability when it comes to finding your IT unit, and you can utilize your portable PC from any place in your office. It can also permit you to give your guests some remote web access or hot work area offices. To this day the identity of the killer remains a mystery. Five women were brutally killed in the East End of London, by a maniac who appeared to kill without warning and with no remorse. 1)What can you learn from Source A? Source A tells us that the two murders were aimed directly at the poorest people in East End at the time, and usually because of the poverty at that time, the women had to revert to prostitution so this tells us that the murderer had a great dislike for poor people or mainly prostitutes, but there was no clear motive for him to do it. An industry structure can drive competition and profitability. The structure of the five forces differs by industry. In the pharmaceutical market, powerful rivalry between dominant manufactures such as Johnson Johnson, Novartis and Pfizer and the bargain power of hospital and pharmacies that places huge orders for pharmaceuticals are strong, while the threat of substitutes, threat of entry and the power of the supplier are more gentle or benevolent. Companies aware of the five forces help them understand the structure of its industry and establish a position that allows them to be more profitable. The Five Forces The five competitive forces that shape strategy are, (1) Threat of New Entrants, (2) Threat of substitutes, (3) Bargaining Power of Suppliers (4) Bargaining Power of Buyers, and (5) Rivalry among Competitors. Those considered rivalry have measurable factors that rank each force as Low, Medium or High strength. The combined strength of the five forces determines how appealing the industry is to possible threats. The five forces are briefly defined below. • 20. Relationship Between Gender Bias And Gender Essay This study focuses on the relationship between gender bias, gender ideology, and gender roles in everyday life. The study analyzes how differences in gender affect professors behavior in the classroom. My research question is how do men and women view professors treatment of students based on gender? Some basic guiding questions are: In your opinion and experience, do professors treat certain groups of students differently? Who are these students? Specifically, do professors treat men vs. women differently in the classroom? Why do you think professors do/don t do this? My hypothesis was that respondents would think professors call on men in the classroom due to their stereotypical qualities of being competitive, confident, and dominant. The overwhelming majority of people describe women as shy, compassionate, and timid . Men are more willing to speak up and shout out an answer in the classroom because of their confidence and dominance. Given these stereotypical traits it would be more likely for a male to answer a question, get called on, or engage in a conversation with the teacher rather than a women because of women s timid traits . I believe that the majority of men are less likely to filter a response and think before they speak in class, therefore leading them to get called on by the professor to share their opinion. A country steeped in rich culture, Guatemala still has a sizeable population of Mayans, the ethnic group that populated the geographical region pre colonization. This minority is often the victim of marginalization, much like the Native Americans of the United States. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way to destroy the vicious cycle of high birth rates is to empower women through social change, specifically, education. There is a proven connection between the education level of a mother and how many children she will have, statistically. In the United States, birth rates of women with less than 12 years of total education are more than triple their college educated counterparts. This can logically be applied to Guatemala s situation to find that if more women are educated, not only in school, but in proper child care and contraception use, their Total Fertility Rate should rapidly decrease to a more sustainable level. This is a one two punch: not only will women have less children, the ones they do have will likely be raised more effectively and are less likely to die of disease in infancy. Guatemala must engage in a campaign to enroll more girls in school. This will be difficult, due to the culture of the country. Women are expected to stay at home and work the fields. • 29. Rosalind Franklin Stereotypes Throughout the ages, women have been have been subject to gender stereotypes, such as women should be at home, taking care of children and hearth, and should not be out conducting business, studying science, etc. If they were making progress outside the home, their work was often not credited properly, such in the case of Rosalind Franklin, whose photograph 51 evolved the fields of science, medicine and more. Rosalind Franklin was born in London, England in 1920 to a wealthy Jewish family. Though, her family valued education and public service, some sources say that her father did not believe in university education for women. Nevertheless, Franklin enrolled at Newnham Women s College at Cambridge University to study chemistry and physics. Franklin was part of a graduate fellowship, but she quit after one year, choosing to work at the British Coal Utilization Research Association (CURA). Her work there, which included studies of carbon and graphite microstructures, served as the basis for her Ph.D. thesis in physical chemistry at Cambridge in 1945. In 1947, she decided to move to Paris, where she worked in the Laboratoire Central des Services Chimiques de L Etat, learning X ray diffraction techniques from Jacques Mering, who was the head of the lab and is best remembered for his influence on Franklin. Just a few years later, in 1951, Franklin returned to England to work in John Randall s laboratory at King s College, London on a DNA project that had been untouched for ... • 30. Essay On Earth Day Earth Day Ana Aguilar SOC 302 Forests Culture 2020 marks for the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day, in that year the main focus will be to end plastic pollution (Earth Day). The first Earth Day was on April 22, the 1970s all throughout the U.S. Know it s a global event that people from all over the world celebrated. Before the movement started in the 1970 s, a great oil spill happened that Santa Barbara had in California, 1969. Thus, the oil spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson of having a day to focus on helping the environment and teach the public of natural disasters (History of earth day, 2017). Millions of people went to the street to protest for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development. The natural environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the industrial revolution. In addition, humans have been overwhelmed with gaining wealth that they have ignored the environmental needs for many years. It can be said that this movement has been a great success in protecting the environment. There are three main reasons why this movement is successful: The first, is the strong focus of the movement, which promotes public awareness of pollution problems, the second, is all the positive influence the main media has have to the movement and lastly, is the overall knowledge that people receive after participating in an earth day activity. First, Gaylord Nelson wanted there to be a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Role Of Dysphasia In Parkinson s Disease What is dysphasia? Dysphasia is defined as the difficulty of food moving from the mouth to the stomach (Logemann, 1983); however, this definition can be expanded. According to Logemann (1983), this definition has been expanded to include all of the motor, behavioral, and sensory acts that are needed to prepare the body for the process of the swallow as well as cognitive abilities, and physiological responses to the smell of the food or liquid. A disorder can occur to any of these functions, so typically the process is broken down by the phases of the swallow. Such as, oral dysphasia, pharyngeal dysphasia, and esophageal dysphasia (Logemann, 1983). The list of signs and symptoms are endless due to the fact that the process has so many steps, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In recent years statistics have shown that this occurs anywhere from one third for four fifths of patients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson s disease. According to Rajaei et al. (2014), the statistics are higher, saying that oropharyngeal dysphasia occurs in up to 80% of Parkinson s patients but increases up to 95 100% of patients in the latter more progressed stages of the disease. This occurs because of the motor loss in the patient s body from the lack of dopamine being produced in the brain (Ellerston et al., 2016). According to (Argolo et al., 2013), rigidity and brandykinesia formed in the oralpharyngeal muscles, lack of coordination between breathing and swallowing, and the loss or reduction of sensation in the oral cavity and pharynx are all involved in the patients dysphasia. Ellerston et al. (2016) reviewed studies done on Parkinson s patients diagnosed with dysphasia using videofluoroscopic modified barium swallow (MBS) study. According to Ellerston et al. (2016), these studies revealed that the patients had impaired laryngeal movement, palatal elevation deficits, lack of epiglottic movement, anterior hyoid bone movement, and vocal fold adduction deficits. The modified barium swallowing studies also revealed that the patients with Parkinson s also showed prolonged pharyngeal transit times (Ellerston et al., 2016). Because of these deficits in the musculature Ellerston et al.(2016), reported that it would lead to vallecular pooling and residue, possible laryngeal penetration, and possible aspiration which could lead to respiratory illnesses or aspiration pneumonia. Ellerston et al. (2016), also revealed from reviewing past literature that when comparing the patients results of the bedside screening to the results of the MBS, almost 80% of the swallowing disorders went unnoticed, including patients who were aspirating. Is there anything you need for me to do Professor? Grace asked eagerly, she liked to be involved and help out when she could. Remus looked at the work that needed to be graded, knowing he d never get it done. Actually I m feeling rather ill, do you think you could take care of these scrolls? Grace s face lit up and she nodded vigorously, of course! I ll take them with me and get them done tonight she replied readily and packed them all away. On her way out of the class room she waved at him and carried on towards her living quarters deep in the school s dungeon. After she left Remus retired to his room to rest for a while and wait for Severus to bring him his wolfsbane potion. Grace set down the students scrolls and got right to work. Patterson, the authors of the article Sexual Identity, Partner Gender, and Sexual Health Among Adolescent Girls in the United States seek to establish a relation between adolescent girls sexual identity and the gender(s) which whom they reported having sexual intercourses (2011, p. 1957). Their study also aims to find a pattern between sexual identity and gender partners and their level of sexual risk and reproductive outcomes (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson, 2011, p. 1957). From this final sample, approximately 2386 surveys were missing data about partner gender and sexual identity, so they excluded those girls from the analyses on a pairwise basis (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson, 2011, p. 1958). The authors with the results were able to confirm their first hypothesis and rejected their second hypothesis (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson, 2011, p. 1959 1960). First of all, results show that people with heterosexual or lesbian sexual identity were older than people who considered themselves as bisexual (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson, 2011, p. 1960). Another finding was that the majority of heterosexual girls answered that they only experienced sexual exchanges with male partner while lesbian (40%) and bisexual (58%) reported that they had sexual intercourse with both genders (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson, 2011, 1960). However, 68 % of girls who reported sexual intercourse with only females answered and labeled themselves as heterosexual (Riskind, Tornello, Younger Patterson, 2011, p. ... • 34. Bioethics And Medical Ethics 1. ETHICS The research work is on ethics and morality. These are often used interchangeably. Moral is from Latin word moralis which means manners or customs. Looking at it critically ethics does not teach how to live moral life, it merely help to clarify what is right or wrong which assists in achieving one s goal. While moral is about purpose, intention, motive and choice which are either right or wrong in the light of manners and customs. Morality is applied to acts and behavior while ethics is applied to the person. 2. BIOETHICS The research work is on bioethics and medical ethics. Bioethics is an area of philosophy that focuses on ethical issues that comes from biomedical scientific technologies and a subfield of ethics. Bioethics is not for philosophers alone but it is multidisciplinary in nature which makes the field very exciting and important. Bioethicists learn from doctors and other scientist working in research and clinic are of biomedicine. The heterogeneous nature of the contributions to this concept enriches it as a discipline thereby improving its relevance and value. • 35. Strawson And Jean Donnellan Summary Donnellan, in Reference and Definite Description, outlines two uses of definite descriptions. He argues that definite descriptions can either have an attributive or a referential use. While theories outlined by Strawson and Russell account for a single use, Donnellan advocates for both. To explain both the attributive and referential uses, I will review two examples. The first example, put forth by Donnellan, is for the statement Smith s murderer is insane. There are two ways of interpreting this statement, based on whether the definite description attributes or refers. In one situation, the audience does not know who murdered Smith. If this is the case, then the speaker does not pick someone out. Instead, the speaker s statement uses the definite description attributively. Here, the definite description itself is what is most significant. Meanwhile, if someone, whom we will call Jones, has been accused of the murder, the use changes. When the speaker now makes the statement, the audience picks out Jones as the referent. The definite description has a referential use. It acts as a tool for picking out a particular one or thing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, when we say, Smith s murderer is insane, the implication is not true. The consequences of this differ based on which use of description the speaker is employing. Under an attributive usage, there would be no person who we can truly attribute insanity to. Meanwhile, with a referential usage, the speaker could still successfully refer to Jones. However, the description, insane murderer would no longer fit Jones. The act of picking out is the key function for a referential use of a description. Even if the description is wrong, reference is still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The Pathogenesis Associated With Sle Immune Mechanisms The pathogenesis associated with SLE is complex and attributed to various factors. These factors include sex, the imbalance of hormones, and ones hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal axes. Others have said that it is attributed to the cells in your body that are dying, over active help of the T cells in the body, defective B cells, and the shifting of the T helper 1(Th1) to T helper 2 (Th2), which are responsible for the B cells causing them to produce these pathogenic antibodies that cause SLE. (Cambridge, Teodorescu, et al. 2006.) Roles of T cells and B cells The immune system is composed of many types of cells, such as T cells and B cells, which are cells that defend your body from foreign substrates. When ... B cells, in particular, play a major role in SLE as then hyperactivity, caused by such cytokines as IL 10(discussed below) contribute to the pro inflammation of antibodies IL 10 gene In Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, expression of the IL 10 gene located on chromosome 1 (1q31 q32) is often inhibited. As the gene name implies, the gene encodes the cytokine IL 10, which is produced by inflammatory cells, such as monocytes and macrophages. (Yan, Bing, and Yi Liu. 2009). When this gene is inhibited the patient will show the signs of SLE, which are discoid lesions, and neurological disorder. When these symptoms begin to appear one can conclude that they have Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. The function of the IL 10 gene is to enhance B cell production and the in tissue leading to the production of autoantibodies. This gene influences many other genes in the body which are associated with inflammation. Programmed cell death (PDCD1) Another gene with altered expression in SLE patients is the Programmed Cell death (PDC1), which encodes for the PD 1 Protein. The PDCD1 over expression has been observed to be in ethnic groups, such as Mexicans and certain European populations from Sweden. This polymorphism affects the transcription factors which contribute to the non tolerance and the hyperactivity of lymphocyte is a major characteristic in SLE.
