Q1: Objective of Financial Reporting (From Kieso et al. (2010)
Homer Winslow and Jane Alexander are discussing various aspects of the conceptual framework .
Homer indicates that this pronouncement provides little, if any, guidance to the practicing professional
in resolving accounting controversies. He believes that the
Framework provides such broad guidelines that it would be impossible to apply the objective(s) to
present day reporting problems. Jane concedes this point, but indicates that objective(s) are still
needed to provide a starting point for the standard setter in helping to improve financial reporting.
a) Indicate the basic objective established in the Conceptual Framework.

Discuss the view that class is still the most important...
Discuss the view that class is still the most important factor influencing the way people vote
Voting behaviour is the way in which the individuals of the electorate vote. Typically this can be
divided into a sociological approach based on entrenched characteristics such as class, age and region
and rational choice approach based on individual decisions based on political issues, governance and
party leaders or image.
Between the years of 1945 1970 social class dominantly shaped the voting behaviour of individuals.
Whilst there has been a decline in prominence of class voting: Labour remains the most popular
working class party and Conservatives perform best among middle class voters. Social classes are
defined by economic and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conservatives receive an increasing percentage of votes in correlation with age and Lib Dem and
Labour have high performance among the younger groups. The writer G.B. Shaw once wrote that, If
you are not a socialist by the time you are 25, you have no heart. If you are not a Conservative by the
time you are 35, you have no head . There is the entrenched view that young people are more liberal
whilst as individuals grow older they become more set in their ways, more wedded to traditional
values and attitudes and more likely to believe that Conservative governments are more likely to
safeguard their financial and personal security which appear increasingly important in later life.
Considering this, surprisingly in the 2010 general election, the ages of 18 24 voted fairly equally
between the three main parties with the age bias gap only really becoming apparent from the age 55
onwards. This shows that younger prejudices and party alignment are not as ingrained as that of the
elderly meaning that old people may be influenced in their voting behaviour by their age but the same
is not as apparent for young people, despite the surface recognition that it is. Yet the implication of
young people sharing their votes between parties could be due to other factors, when

any free benefits that can be provided are welcomed. In this semester, I have begun to study the ACA
Code of Ethics; this will be an on going process with an estimated accomplishment date before
starting my first counseling practicum in Quarter 9 (Walden University, 2017).

The Wise Sea Poem Analysis
The Wise Men Speak
(An Analysis on Sailing)
William Butler Yeats, was a poet from the Victorian age. Philosophers say that Yeats was one of the
greatest poets of all time, William Butler Yeats is widely considered to be one of the greatest poets of
the 20th century (Adams). One of Yeats most famous poem was Sailing to Byzantium. In the poem
Sailing, Yeats expresses three very important messages. The messages that Yeats expresses in Sailing
are, that the soul wants to leave body when it s about time to go, the elders are more wise, and that
younger generation doesn t listen to their elders. In the poem Sailing, Yeats expresses that as our body
ages our souls are ready to be set free. Our souls never age, but our bodies do. As our bodies start to
age our souls are ready to be set free from our aging bodies. Yeats states that when our souls are close
to being set free they start to sing, Soul clap its hands and sing, louder sing (11). The soul is
celebrating that it s about to be set free from its aging body. Our bodies are dead, but our souls
continue to live on. Dr. Duncan MacDougall of Haverhill, Massachusetts states, Human beings are
possessed of souls which depart their bodies after death and that these souls have detectable physical
presences were around well before the 20th century . Our souls continue to live after we are no longer
living. Another message represented in the poem Sailing, is that our elders are wise. Our elders are

In the 2003, the Supreme Court ruled that that state laws banning gay person homosexuality are illegal
as an infringement of the privilege to protection. The case of Lawrence v. Texas was a clear takeoff
from the Court s conservative procedure in the 1980s and 1990s, which discovered proof of central
rights just in exercises the laws themselves considerably ensured ( history and conventions ). Houston
police were dispatched to Lawrence s (defendant in the case) home because of a reported weapons

Negative propositions: items that are not income by ordinary concepts:

Let s Talk About Sex.....Preference in Non Western Cultures
Introduction
Each day, over one hundred and eighteen million babies are born worldwide. According to the
biological sex binary male and female, every infant has the possibility of being born with sex
chromosomes female (XX) and male (XY), which causes differences in their biological anatomies.
There are also individuals with disorders of sex development or more commonly referred to as being
intersex. Intersex is an umbrella term for people whose sexual or reproductive anatomies, sex
hormones, or sex chromosomes just do not fall neatly into the definitions of male and female.
Examples of this disorder could include ambiguous genitalia, androgen sensitivity, or abnormalities
with how the rest of the body responds to sex hormones. The majority of cultures around the globe
give merit to and recognize the differences in biological sex (male/female binary), what roles they
have played in their traditions/histories, and their current position in framing politics or societal
structures. Some Non Western countries such as China, India, Taiwan, and Pakistan, include cultures
that exhibit a strong sex preference, or more specifically son preference. More than simply preferring
the births of sons to daughters, son preference develops from instances of gender inequality where
outside parties often question basic human rights. Non Western

Humor And How Does It Affect Brand Imaging, Interpersonal...
Section One:
Humor is an interesting and diverse topic, especially when applied to the subject of persuasion. How it
affects brand imaging, interpersonal communication, and overall perceptions of persuaders. Humor is
unique in the sense that it is highly subjective. This subjectivity makes it a very tricky tactic to use in
either advertisements or interpersonal persuasion. Humor has a very fluid definition that can vary by
culture, gender, age, and religion. This essay will look into the history of humor in human culture,
what the psychological effects of humor are on people, how advertisers use these psychological effects
to influence consumers and create positive brand image. It will also discuss the proper use of humor
and important factors to take into consideration. Finally the use of humor in interpersonal persuasion
as well as how humor factors into creating a charismatic image of a presenter.
While there is a limited number of resources that have done extensive studies on the topic of humor in
persuasion there was a large push for this information in the late 80 s and early 90 s. Part of the
difficulty with getting scientific data on the subject of humor is due to the subjectivity of humor. It is
difficult to perform a test with experimentation that will be considered humorous by all of the
participants. It is also difficult to interpret the results because of this. While the subject is slightly
lacking in proper research it is still an important aspect to consider

Innovation
Customers on the markets strongly require innovative products and services. CDS has moved from
selling through a few large customers to retailers, so CDS can understand the market closely.
Collaboration with retailers and design houses allows CDS to access valuable information from end
customers. Thus, CDS can respond well according to the market requirements.
Similarly, D Shower has also started to sell their products through retailers, so it can utilise the
knowledge gained from the retailers design initiative. D Shower can use that knowledge to introduce

How Does Madeleine L Engle Use Symbols In A Wrinkle In Time
A Wrinkle in Time lives on to be a timeless classic suspense novel for young adults today. Although
school curriculums berate it for L Engle s afflictions with Christian theology; which are especially
prominent in this novel, her emotional family values, and ethical responsibilities stand out for a bigger
impact on the reader. Madeleine L Engle writes with a style that makes the reader ponder her use
behind objects, characters, and dialogue. Her subjective symbolism puts a more meaningful reason to
her story, and can discovered throughout the entire plot. Examples of symbolism surface through
physical objects such as Mrs. Who s spectacles, to emotional feelings of love and hate, and even to
general themes brought about of light triumphing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spectacles symbolize a way of understanding and perceiving the world without instinctual
judgment. There is another part physical objects show symbolism behind them. Charles Wallace is
taken over by the control of IT, but Meg can still read the decency behind his evil behavior. Although
his actions are not at all like his normality, his blue eyes, which retained normality, symbolize
goodness and hope and let her know he is still there. L Engle uses emotional feelings throughout the
characters, not only to portray compassion for the them, but also to symbolize deeper meaning. Meg s
love to save her family has more meaning to it than her willingness. Her love differs immensely with
the emotion of IT s hate. Every time she feels hate towards IT or others such as her father, she
becomes weaker. It is her hatred that allows IT to take over her mind. She finds out the ability to love
against the forces of hate, allows her to succeed and defeat IT. When the family reunites in the end, it
is a reminder of the strong forces love has on us that L Engle believes can strengthen and congregate
society. Meg also is disturbed by the way people are controlled on the planet of Comazotz. She notices
the normality of everyone, ...there was also a sameness to them. Like the sameness of people riding in
a subway, (L Engle 110) and is upset with their exactness. She later is even talking to Calvin about
how he masks how he really feels in school, in

My Personal Leadership Assessments
Upon completion the three leadership assessments, I was surprised to notice several data points which
revealed particular aspects about my leadership style that I had not previously perceived myself to be.
One of these instances was my low balanced processing scores during the Authentic Leadership Self
Questionnaire, which highlighted that I tend to glance over the opinions of others in lieu of my own.
These findings accurately reflect my leadership skills as I tend overestimate my own ways of thinking
and can sometimes ignore others who may provide me with a broader perspective. I plan to apply
these results to grow professionally by taking actions such as actively listening to constructive
feedback and recognizing the value of the opinions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One step I plan to take is to recognize that leadership is both an art and a science as it requires more
than simply making the right choice, but also developing a personal leadership style. This is so as the
results revealed that I tended to render decisions based on logic, which may not be the case as not all
business decisions will be black and white choices. Another action I plan to consider is to have a
broader understanding of my professional abilities and take them into consideration at a reasonable
degree. While the results highlighted several of my leadership strengths such as being open to others
and having a positive attitude, I must not take them for granted and assume that I can confront any
challenge despite my prior successes. This is so as my strengths in one field might not compensate for
another as I must strive towards becoming a complete professional rather than settling for my existing
skillset. In conclusion, these assessments have provided myself with a broader understanding of my
leadership acumen and I plan to apply their findings towards taking on future career

Monteverdi Italian Opera Comparison
Italian opera is the term used to describe compositions of opera composed in Italy or the term used to
describe compositions of opera which use the Italian language. Italian opera first found its foothold
around the beginning of the seventeenth century through composers such as Jacopo Peri with his
composition Dafne which was one of the first compositions to be considered an opera. Among the
many composers who brought opera to fame within the musical world, Claudio Monteverdi and
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were two of the most prominent composers of Italian opera. Although
Monteverdi and Mozart were composing Italian operas over a hundred and fifty years apart from each
other, their operas contained many similar characteristics. In this essay, Monteverdi s Italian opera L

This can be seen in Eurydice s piece in bars 257 259 of Act Four shown below in Example 2.
Monteverdi uses this compositional technique within this opera in order to effectively and efficiently

specific point the play, Eurydice is speaking of times and people who are sweet to her therefore
Monteverdi s use of a high pitched and sustained notes contributes and enables the singer of Eurydice
to effectively portray the character s thoughts to the audience.
Another musical characteristic of Monteverdi s Italian operas is that he follows the traditional opera
structure of four to five acts. Within L Orfeo , Monteverdi composes the story within five acts. This

Granny Weatherall is characterized as a very old lady who is extremely stubborn and bedridden.
Granny Weatherall is a sickly old lady in denial. She believes that she is not sick although she is lying

encounters the hunter she steals the money that falls out of his pockets. She always seems to want
something for her troubles. However, later in the story while in the hospital, Phoenix has a totally
different personality. She seems to have no guilt for the actions she makes.
The elements of both stories include a simple plot with a them that is symbolic of their lives. In The
Jilting of Granny Weatherall the plot is granny Weatherall lying in her bed remembering her life
before she dies. In A Worn Path the plot is Phoenix Jackson walking down a worn path trying to get to
the city. The memories of Granny Weatherall are all symbolic of her life flashing before her eyes or

The points of view of the stories are very different; however, the two stories are similar in that they
both are first person narratives. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall is told by her, but is her reminiscing

life leading to a new infinite one. A Worn Path is told by Phoenix Jackson. This is just the story of her

Social Behavior For Children With Adhd
However, when CWPT was combined with peer coaching, there were improvements in social
behavior for children with ADHD (Plumer and Stoner, 2005).
Peer coaching may also be a good way to insure that students learn the hidden curriculum. The hidden
curriculum is information about values, beliefs and attitudes that are somehow conveyed to students
regarding the rules and routines needed to succeed in school and in society. The goals set by coaching
teams could easily include information from the hidden curriculum as it applies to the behavior of the
child with ADHD. For example, since children with ADHD often have difficulty with rule following,
a goal the child with ADHD could work on might be to raise his or her hand when the child wants to
speak.
Making Socially Accepting Inclusive Classrooms (MOSAIC) is a teacher implemented and directed
intervention designed specifically for children with ADHD to help them improve their social
interactions and peer relationships. MOSAIC is based on the theory that in order to achieve optimal
peer relationships, children with ADHD require classroom structures that aim to (a) increase peers
social acceptance of children with special needs such as ADHD, and (b) increase socially skilled and
reduce disruptive behaviors of children with ADHD. To achieve these aims, teachers in MOSAIC: (a)
model warm, positive interpersonal interactions with students (to encourage peers to follow this
example of social acceptance); and (b) institute

The Cause Of The French Revolution
The Cause of the French Revolution
Throughout history, what remains true is that the people are the ones who start a revolution. And when
around 98% of a population is suffering to make a living, there is little hope for those in power. Taxes
levied only on the common folk, crippling wars that left France with huge debts, and the careless
spending of the upper classes ultimately lead to the start of the revolution. The main political cause
was that the King had too much power but weak foreign policy leads to economic downturn. The main
social cause was that French society was too imbalanced but it was truly economic exploitation of the
lower class. The French Revolution had many probable causes, all linked together, but none as
important and defining as the economic aspect.
There were social and political causes to the French Revolution but both derived from economic
cause. The imbalance of social classes was in part the root of the lower classes hatred towards the
upper class. But it was because the lower class had no mobility in French Society that people started
looking for change. Moving up in rank or position was nearly impossible and those with power,
always had the power. This proved to be troublesome as one s hard work would not reap any benefits
and would still have to pay heavy taxes to provide lavish lives for those in the upper class. As Dr. Gail
Bossenga states in his book, Origins of the French Revolution, perhaps the search for the social
origins of the

Persuasive Animal Shelter
I met my best friend ten years ago. He has thick, brown, black, and white hair, brown eyes, and white
feet. He loves stuffed animals that squeak, riding on the golf cart, hunting for lizards and squirrels, and
eating any time of day. His name is Sam and he s ten years old. Oh, did I mention that he s a dog? He
does not know it though. When I was seven years old, my mom, brother, and I went to the local
animal shelter to look at the animals. We found two adorable puppies one was solid white and the
other was brown, black, and white and my brother and I begged to have the white one. But, a couple
days later, we came home from school and saw that sweet brown, black, and white puppy lying on our
dad s chest taking a nap. The white one had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most popular dog breeds like Pugs, German Shepherds, Yorkshire Terriers, Bulldogs, and Boxers
all have extremely highhealth risks. Pugs and other short nosed dogs often have breathing problems.
Pugs can also get diabetes, spinda bifida because of the tightly curled tails, and dislocation of joints.
German Shepherd can have chronic pelvic pain, hip dysplasia, and at least eight different heart
problems. Yorkshire Terriers have a high risk of having a collapsed trachea, seizures, diarrhea, and
hepatitis. Bulldogs are known to develop brain and spine tumors and skin infections. They also often
have to be artificially inseminated and give birth by Cesarean section because their heads are too big
and their hips are too narrow to give birth. If humans have to surgically produce and give birth to
bulldog puppies, they should not be having puppies; there are plenty of other breeds that do not have
to go through so many traumas to give birth. Boxers also have breathing problems, can develop
several types of cancer, have respiratory problems, and eye ulcers. If you buy a pure bred dog, you
should also be ready to pay for very expensive veterinary

1.1 AIM
To design simulate a state machine in VHDL for Two way Traffic light control for collision avoidance.
1.2 OBJECTIVE
In this assignment the main objective is to design the two way traffic light control and simulate it on
modelsim.
1.3 RESEARCH IDEAAND CONCEPTS
Traffic has been the most challenging problem on roads throughout the world for many years. The
density of road traffic has increased rapidly in the recent years. Traffic is the major issue for many
drivers; it generally results in journey delays as Latency, wasted time while waiting, increased
pressure to reduce performance and can cause people loss of business especially in emergency
situations.
Many schemes have been designed and implemented for relieving traffic as a primary objective.
However, these schemes have a varying effectiveness, and also it is not always obvious that, it will
work best in a given situation.
The appropriate colour space was adopted and the statistical analysis of traffic lights on the various
components of this colour space was carried out. Then the segmentation threshold was obtained and
the colour segmentation was completed according to the statistics result. The morphology was used to
complete the noise processing after the colour segmentation and the connected region was

Analysis Of Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Born on this day in 1832, Louisa May Alcott led a fascinating life. Besides enchanting millions of
readers with her novel Little Women, she worked as a Civil War nurse, fought against slavery, and
registered women to vote. For Louisa, writing was an early passion. She had a very deep and rich
imagination and her novels often became the basis of melodramas that she and her sisters would act
out for their friends. Louisa preferred to play the lurid parts in these plays the villains, ghosts, bandits,
and disdainful queens. Scholars have argued that Little Women affects critics emotionally because of
their adolescent connection to the story, thus coloring scholarly interpretations of the work. This essay
will talk about Alcott and the three critics Judith Fetterly, Ken Parille and Sarah Wordsworth who
criticized the story Little Women from different perspectives.
Louisa May Alcott was a prolific writer who drew inspiration for her work from her personal
experiences. This novel takes a place in the civil war, when the march family is divided, the father is
at the work and the only way they communicates with each other is by letters were their father
instructs them to be better and to fight their inner demons. When the story begins the girls are in a
state of self centered, they were complaining about being poor, every girl had her own dream, and they
are all far from being poor. Amy wanted to be an artist, Meg wanted rich luxurious life and Jo wanted

Persuasive Essay On Robotics
Despite being stereotyped as nerdy by many, robotics is a rewarding extracurricular that can be
beneficial to anyone. Robotics is a program centralized around STEM, which stands for science,
technology, engineering, and math. Today, many schools will have a robotics program, most of which
are run by either VEX or FIRST. All of these programs are centralized around a team working together
to build a robot to the best of their ability to score as many points as possible. All the while,
participants also learn teamwork and technical skills that can be applied to the real world. I have been
a part of VEX Robotics Competition for three years, and prior to that participated in FIRST Lego
League for five years. Throughout this essay, I will mainly focus on VEX Robotics Competition, as
that is the program that I am currently a part of. STEM and robotics programs in schools must become
more available and receive more time and attention because they help train students for engineering
fields which are steadily growing, assist students in being accepted into colleges, and transform
lessons in school into practical, real world skills. To begin, engineering fields have shown consistent
growth, so it is important that students are prepared for pursuing these fields. Experience early on with
practical skills in a robotics club setting can give students an edge if they choose to go into
engineering. For this reason, it is important that robotics be available to as many students as

Persuasive Essay On Ocean Pollution
Throughout many decades there has been a huge environmental problem, not only putting marine life
at risk but also human health. Ocean pollution is a big threat to the habitat and still today we haven t
stopped throwing trash, chemicals or toxins into the oceans. During the 1940 s, a technical service of
the Army dumped a lot of chemical warfare into the sea, believing the type of gas will dissolve in the
water becoming harmless in minutes. At that time, fishermen were able to catch a lot of fish, it wasn t
until they were out of luck and all they could see were dead fish floating on the surface. Many people
think that oil spills and trash are the only types of ocean pollution, but they re also forgetting about
chemical, bacterial and thermal pollution. Polluted seas can be the cause of many diseases or
infections, especially if people don t take big measures like telling their kids not to accidentally drink
water from rivers or lakes when swimming. Marine animals are a big part of our food chain if they
carry diseases or toxins we re also in big danger. Today, there have been many people who have been
trying to stop others from polluting the oceans, but they still haven t been able to convince the whole
world to end ocean pollution. The government, instead of wasting money on unnecessary things like
building walls or building more towers and creating more trash they should build trash contractors that
will help with the trash floating around in the seas. There are

The Role Of A Hero In Geoffrey Trease s Cue For Treason
Most people dream to be a hero, a hero that is admired, courageous, noble, and a role model to
everyone because of what they have achieved. Everyone s point of view of being a hero is different,
some might state that being a hero means solving crimes and wears capes like all superhero in movies.
The others might say that a hero is a soldier that fights for their country. Peter Brownrigg, a fourteen
year old Cumberland farm boy is a hero that does not wear a cape. Peter s acts of determination and
outstanding bravery pushes him to defeat Sir Philip Morton and his followers in their objective to
assassinate the queen of England in the story Cue for Treason by Geoffrey Trease.
Peter s bravery is tremendous, if the situation is life threatening he will achieve what he desires. Peter
successfully climbs up the Yellow Gentleman s house by only using daggers to retrieve the script for
the play. Peter says, each time I put my weight on a fresh dagger, my heart went into my mouth and I
heaved for the splash below. ( Trease 132) while he was climbing the side of the house. Daggers are
the only material that Peter used to climb up the building. Climbing up a building, especially with
daggers is not something that every fourteen years old can accomplish or execute. Each dagger that he
pierced into the building was one risk he was willing to take. Especially with no protective equipment,
this is extremely risky and can result in fatality if the subject does not have anything to break

Lottie Character Analysis
The character that I have chosen to critique for this assignment is Lottie played by Roslynn Glasco.
Lottie was one of the main characters in the play titled Daisy written by Mary Hill. The production of
Daisy took place in Cal Poly Pomona s Studio theater. The production that I witnessed occurred on the
opening night on January 25th 2018.
Physicality: In the performance of Lottie the actors gestures were very sincere. When Lottie found out
that her sister, Dottie was pregnant, she quickly hugged her and made everyone feel the strong bond
that the sisters had with each other. Lottie s hug demonstrated that she was supportive of her sister.
Another example of when Lottie s gestures where authentic and reflected the characters emotions was

Objective: During the play Lottie s intentions were to keep her sister Dottie safe.
Playing Actions: When Master Smith said they would not be able to eat Lottie purposely articulated
that plan so her sister and she could go into the kitchen and eat anyways. Lottie was also trying to
protect Dottie when she found out about the strange white man who was kind to her. Lottie told Dottie
to stay away from him. The most important time when Lottie was protecting Dottie was at the end of
the play when Master Smith was trying to take away Dottie s baby.
Obstacles: Some of the obstacles that Lottie encountered to keep Dottie safe were master Smith and
Michael Smith. In addition to these two characters Lottie also faced the obstacle of being an African

Urinary Tract Infection Essay
Urinary Tract Infection
The urinary tract is the body s is a filtration system that makes sure nutrients are absorbed into the
bloodstream and toxins are rejected as waste and come out in liquid form through the bladder and
urethra. Any substance unrecognized by this system such as bacteria can cause an infection in this
tract system in the body known as urinary tract infection (UTI).
The urinary system is made up of the kidneys, the ureters, bladder and urethra. The kidneys take
nutrients from liquids that are nurturing to the body. Bladder is like an overflow that holds urine
waiting to be released. The urethra is the tubes that extend from the bladder through to the end of the

Other reasons for infection could be having other medical issues such as prostate inflammation in
men, or having a disease like AIDS, which depresses the immune system to fight off bacteria in the
body. When people have a catheter put in, there could also be a high risk of infection to occur.
Additional cause of UTI could be internal as well. If E. coli in the colon seeps its way into the urinary
tract, an infection is sure to follow (Urinary Tract Infection Cancer Symptoms, chemotherapy Chemo
Side Effects, 2005).
There are many symptoms we can be made aware of by self examination. A common symptom is an
overwhelming burning sensation while urinating. Cloudy or bloody urine, along with abnormal
frequency, is another symptom. A foul smell can be associated also with the infection. Feeling tired or
sluggish with a slight fever marks an unusual bodily occurrence and should be looked at. Someone
who is older could experience only uneasiness due to age. Lower back pain and abdomen is a sign of
infection. If any of these symptoms occur, a person should consult a physician immediately (Zieve,
2011).
There are ways to prevent a UTI without having to change a normal lifestyle. Eating a healthy diet,
including fresh fruits and vegetables instead of high intake of sugar and fats, is a great way to remain
infection free. Drinking juices instead of man made sodas with

Wallace Stevens and Emile Durkheim Essay example
Wallace Stevens and Emile Durkheim
To more fully understand Stevens poem The Idea of Order at Key West, one can look at the ideas of
the poem in context of social philosophical thought. Emile Durkheim s theories on religion closely
parallel those of Stevens. Both men believe that there is no supreme greater being, or God, that gives
things order and meaning. But both men also believe that humans need to read order and meaning into
the world to understand it, even if the meaning humans imply is false because there is no God. Since
this aspect of both men s ideas is so similar, Durkheim s outline of ideas on religion can form a model
by which Stevens poem can be analyzed. Furthermore, although there is no way to prove that Steven s

Like Durkheim stated, the human mind better grasps things that are reflected through symbols. Lines
18 20 of The Idea of Order at Key West state, Whose spirit is this? we said/ It was the spirit we sought
and knew/ That we should ask this often as she sang. These lines express Stevens idea that humans
long for explanations to why things happen. In this particular poem, the explanation of the essence of
the sea is discussed. The people asking, Whose spirit is this? realize that there seems to be a sort of
external power (181), as Durkheim says, but cannot explain it. The people see the sea is more than
that, more than even her voice (36 37).
Because the sea cannot just be more, it has to be put in concrete terms, and Stevens says that humans
inevitably personify nature to put it in forms that they can understand. Stevens personification is a
different method than what Durkheim suggests, which is that humans create religious projections of
society and nature in order to understand them. While these methods differ, both men acknowledge
that humans have to find meaning on a personal level of individual conscience.
Stevens supports that, in trying to make the essence of nature understandable, the people in the poem
inevitably personify the sea. It is almost impossible for humans to see things in inhuman terms. For
example, the sea has a body (3) and a cry

Geographically, Morocco in itself is not all that big, as the size of it is one tenth larger than California
(French, 2010). It has borders to the north of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. You can
reach other countries such as Spain from the strait of Gibraltar which is on its far northern border. One
simply has to take a ferry boat that runs in the strait to get to from Spain into the city of Tanger in
Morocco. From this point you simple can hop aboard the national rails ONCF that connect Tanger
with other famous cities in Morocco such as Casablanca, and Marrakech. It also borders Algeria to the
east. To the west is another border Morocco possesses with the Western Sahara, Morocco has held an

Analysis Of The Maltese Falcon

dark, morally, and cinematically, with a male protagonist in conflict with criminals, and usually a
femme fatale, as an antagonist. This movie wasn t easy to follow, but after the third viewing, I think I
figured it out. There are many twists and turns, but Sam Spade manages to stay one step ahead of the
king pin, Gutman, and the others who are after the falcon. At first, I thought that Spade was all in for

way, but nothing about the bird.

The Role Of The Child In British Romantic Poetry
How does British Romantic Poetry interpret the role of the child? British Romantic poets have
composed forms of literary art that is centered on childhood, they describe how significant that period
is in a being s life. The inclusion of childhood in the poetic work of Wordsworth, Blake, and Rousseau
defined how children were robbed of their youth. All three British Romantic poets, held beliefs that
children were of nature; pure and perfectly made. In the same way, Romantics advocated the belief
that children manifested innocence. Accordingly, the poets wrote about how the child should be
protected from the immoral ways of man. The main topics described by each author provides the
audience an awareness of the working conditions and lack of education children faced. The role of the
child in British romantic poetry depicts the idea that children possess a separate identity from adults
concluding that they should not be stripped of their innocence. The beliefs of the Romantics embodied
the concept that children should become experienced through their own personal discoveries. The
child s personal discoveries should consist of a natural environment where they can abundantly grow
and learn using their diverse minds. Secondly, the most popularized belief the Romantics supported
was the innocence and purity that a child possessed. Lastly, the poets introduced a relationship
between children and nature. British romantics believed children had access to a distinct perspective

Social Groups In The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is an often talked about film. One of the reasons for this is how it analyzes
different social groups formed in high school, or even life. The groups that it talks about are The
Brain, The Athlete, The Basket Case, The Princess, and The Criminal. One difficulty I had with this
essay is that I found out I have a pretty limited social circle. I don t talk to many people and most of
the people I do talk to are brains. I am very much like one of the characters in the movie. Even though
it was a bit tough I was still able to find someone in my life to fill each of the categories. While some
people are out partying others are studying. The ones studying are usually known as the brain or the
nerds. They re usually said to be highly intelligent, hence the name. On the other hand they aren t
known for being very athletic. Because of this they tend to butt heads with the athletes a lot and the
two groups are considered polar opposites. While I know quite a few brains the one that sticks out the
most is my friend Mike. He is constantly putting more work into things than necessary and always
feels the need to be the best academically. He was always on the honor roll for high school and for
very good reasons. Some other examples of Mikes generally nerdisms are the fact that he currently
owns a $1000 pc, 2 tablets, and 2 laptops because he needs to be sure that when he is developing

Argumentative Essay Childcare
14.2 million children under age 13 met federal requirements for child care subsidies in 2011 2012. Of
that number, 8.6 million were eligible under state policies. Yet only 1.5 million children actually
received the subsidies. That means only 10.6 percent of the number of children meeting federal
guidelines actually get the subsidy (Davidson 2017). The question that will be answered throughout
this paper is, how accessible is childcare in the United States? Child care is the care of children by a
day care center, babysitter, or other provider while parent/ parents/ or legal guardian is working. The
median household income for the United States is $53,8895 (Census Bureau) and the average cost of
childcare is between $10,000 and $16,000 (Hamm 2015). This means that childcare can cost families
making the median income 30% of their annual income. Given that this is the median household
income, half of households have an income that is below this costing them more than 30% of their
income. The United States has excellent child care that is affordable for some, however, most low
income families are unable to afford it.
Child care is incredibly important for the youth because has been proven to improve children s
development. Early childhood education has a countless number of benefits, including more equitable
long term outcomes for children of diverse economic backgrounds. Additionally, investing in these

Using Data From The British Election Study
This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The study has responses
from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of questions
regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include responses for
voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right,
taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status and so
forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and Likert scale questions on a
scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount of data and the variety of information asked,
this report will restrict itself to testing a few hypotheses, which will be targeted towards specific areas,
and which can be proved or disproved through use of cross tabulation analysis based on data obtained
in the survey. It has been noted that the economic status of a voter tends to impact the political
leanings of the voter. It was noted in a survey carried out in the USA that wage levels were an
indicator of voter preferences where people who earned less than $70,000 noted to lean towards the
liberal, Democratic Party, while those who earned more tended to be more conservative in leaning
towards the Republican Party (Thompson, 2012). Another study conducted in Malaysia concluded that

Examples Of Susanna Kayson In The Movie Girl
Diagnosis Susanna Kayson is a character in the film Girl, interrupted that has borderline personality
disorder (BPD) (Wick, Konrad, Mangold, 1999). As Susanna Kayson meets 5 of the 9 Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual 5 criteria, Susanna can be diagnosed with BPD.
According to criteria 1, Susanna often restrains from stating her true feelings about a situation or a
person to maintain relationships. Lisa, a resident of the psychiatric ward, would tease or humiliate
Daisy, eventually leading her to commit suicide. Susanna knew that Lisa s actions were inappropriate
but she did not stand up for Daisy. (Barlow, Durand, Stewart, Lalumiere, 2015). Criteria 2 is shown
when Susanna s boyfriend Toby comes to visit, a staff member catches them in the middle of a sexual
act and they decide to escape to the grounds. Toby states he wants to be with her, and she says that she
had no desire to be with him. An example of criteria 5, Susanna tries to commit suicide by consuming
a bottle of aspirin with a bottle of vodka, and later also states that she understands what it feels like to
not want to be alive. An example of criteria 6 is when the wife of a man who Susanna had an affair
with confronts her, she begins to laugh. Lastly, Susanna s inability to understand her disorder causes
her to have bouts of intense anger, which satisfies criteria 8 (Barlow et al., 2015).

Black Spiderman Music Video Analysis
Black Spiderman Music Video Analysis
It s fascinating to see all the various interpretations there are about movies, books, shows, ads, and
music videos. A humorous joke to someone might be the most offensive insult another person has ever
heard. For example, one might be watching a comedy show and suddenly a man is telling a woman to
shut up and make him a sandwich. The male audience will generally find it hilarious. However, the
viewers who just so happen to be women might not be so keen on the sexist remark. It is crucial to
recognize the messages behind the media we see and whether one ought to be upholding them or not.
In the music video for Black Spiderman; Logic has Damian dress up as Spiderman which signifies:
black people deserve better roles in the media such as superheroes, it s important for black kids to
have representation, and overall, it s refreshing to see a whole new different perspective.
For starters, black people should be given more positive roles rather than always being portrayed
negatively by playing the typical: thug, gangster, rude, or violent character. For the most part, what the
public is shown on their screens stays engraved in their heads. This eventually projects in their words
and actions. Therefore, seeing black people frequently act out as problematic characters can be

Research Paper On Hk Chang
Chang was born Zhang Ying in Shanghai, China. She was the first child of Zhang Zhiyi(1896 1953)
and Huang Suqiong (1893 1957). Chang s maternal great grandfather, Huang Yisheng(1818 1894),
was a prominent naval commander. Chang s paternal grandfather, Zhang Peilun(1848 1903), was son
in law to Li Hongzhang(1823 1901), who became an influential court official during the Qing Dynasty
and married her paternal grandmother, Li Juyu (1866 1916). Her childhood had also been shared with
paternal aunt Zhang Maoyuan (1898 1991).(nndb)
Chang started school at age 4. Besides her native Chinese, Chang studied and professed a high ability
in English. Although she says her family was not religious, she graduated from an all female Christian
high school, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the wedding, the couple moved back to New Hampshire. After suffering a series of strokes,
Reyher eventually became paralyzed before his death on October 8, 1967. On September 8, 1995,
Chang was found dead in her apartment on Rochester Avenue in Westwood, Los Angeles, by her
landlord. That she was found days after her death testifies to her seclusion. Her death certificate states
that she died from cardiovascular disease. According to Chang s will, she was cremated without any
memorial services and her ashes were released into the Pacific Ocean. She willed all her possessions
to Stephen Soong and his wife Mae Fong Soong in Hong Kong, but they later died. Their daughter
Elaine and son Roland inherited the estate of Chang s works. Roland, who writes the influential
EastSouthWestNorth blog in Hong Kong, has spoken about her works. Chang s brother, Zijing, died in
1997. Neither he nor his sister had any

Death Of A Salesman And The American Dream
The United States in the mid twentieth century was a time of change. In the 1960 s the civil rights and
women s rights were in their embryonic stages. All of these ideas coming together created the illusion
of The American Dream. Back then; the American dream was equated with freedom and material
prosperity, two concepts that ring true today. The definition of the American dream changes as society
in the United States changes, and the connotation and reality of the American Dream is disheartening.
Two literary compositions give a realistic outlook on what the American Dream really is. In Death of a
Salesman and The American Dream, Arthur Miller and Edward Albee masterfully relay the true nature
and ideologies of The American Dream. In theory, the American Dream is the idea that every person
residing in the United States of America should live a richer and fuller life, regardless of the class one
is born in. It is not a dream about cars, high wages, and a picket fence. The idea, for it to work, is
supposed to be that every man and woman in this beautiful country has the ability to gain the highest
class in their ability regardless of their previous background. The ability to achieve such high success
is based on academic success and hard work. In current times, it seems the American Dream has
become a pursuit of material objects. Citizens of the United States work countless hours to be able to
afford bigger cars, better homes, and the newest technologies. On the surface,

don t need to be saved from plastic they need to be saved from poachers. After centuries of
overexploitation, Mexico is enlisting the help drones and marines to save the turtles in the beaches of
Escobilla and Morro Ayuta. While taking their eggs is a crime, it hasn t deterred poachers. Cracking
Down on Egg Extraction, Commercialization, Sale and Distribution It s an amazing sight to behold.

Obviously, money is a factor, but there s more to the story. Stealing the turtle eggs only became a
crime where someone can end up in federal prison two decades ago. And consuming turtle meat and
turtle eggs and using turtle skin dates back to the ancient civilizations of the Americas. As one local
told NPR, http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18481696 You make a small hole, put
lemon and chili, and it is delicious. That s one of our pre Hispanic dishes before the Spanish arrived,
our people would eat them. (But lemon and chilli make everything taste better.) Like rhino horn, there
s also a bogus claim that turtle eggs are a type of

Between the years of 1945 1970 social class dominantly shaped the voting behaviour of individuals. There is the entrenched view that young people are more liberal whilst as individuals grow older they become more set in their ways, more wedded to traditional values and attitudes and more likely to believe that Conservative governments are more likely to safeguard their financial and personal security which appear increasingly important in later life. Considering this, surprisingly in the 2010 general election, the ages of 18 24 voted fairly equally between the three main parties with the age bias gap only really becoming apparent from the age 55 onwards. This shows that younger prejudices and party alignment are not as ingrained as that of the elderly meaning that old people may be influenced in their voting behaviour by their age but the same is not as apparent for young people, despite the surface recognition that it is. • 8. The Wise Sea Poem Analysis The Wise Men Speak (An Analysis on Sailing) William Butler Yeats, was a poet from the Victorian age. Philosophers say that Yeats was one of the greatest poets of all time, William Butler Yeats is widely considered to be one of the greatest poets of the 20th century (Adams). One of Yeats most famous poem was Sailing to Byzantium. In the poem Sailing, Yeats expresses three very important messages. The messages that Yeats expresses in Sailing are, that the soul wants to leave body when it s about time to go, the elders are more wise, and that younger generation doesn t listen to their elders. In the poem Sailing, Yeats expresses that as our body ages our souls are ready to be set free. Our souls never age, but our bodies do. As our bodies start to age our souls are ready to be set free from our aging bodies. Yeats states that when our souls are close to being set free they start to sing, Soul clap its hands and sing, louder sing (11). The soul is celebrating that it s about to be set free from its aging body. Our bodies are dead, but our souls continue to live on. Dr. Duncan MacDougall of Haverhill, Massachusetts states, Human beings are possessed of souls which depart their bodies after death and that these souls have detectable physical presences were around well before the 20th century . Summary Of Let s Talk About Sex Essay Aileen Burkett Prof. Pat Buck Global Perspectives of Women November 15, 2016 Let s Talk About Sex.....Preference in Non Western Cultures Introduction Each day, over one hundred and eighteen million babies are born worldwide. According to the biological sex binary male and female, every infant has the possibility of being born with sex chromosomes female (XX) and male (XY), which causes differences in their biological anatomies. There are also individuals with disorders of sex development or more commonly referred to as being intersex. Intersex is an umbrella term for people whose sexual or reproductive anatomies, sex hormones, or sex chromosomes just do not fall neatly into the definitions of male and female. Examples of this disorder could include ambiguous genitalia, androgen sensitivity, or abnormalities with how the rest of the body responds to sex hormones. The majority of cultures around the globe give merit to and recognize the differences in biological sex (male/female binary), what roles they have played in their traditions/histories, and their current position in framing politics or societal structures. Some Non Western countries such as China, India, Taiwan, and Pakistan, include cultures that exhibit a strong sex preference, or more specifically son preference. While there is a limited number of resources that have done extensive studies on the topic of humor in persuasion there was a large push for this information in the late 80 s and early 90 s. Part of the difficulty with getting scientific data on the subject of humor is due to the subjectivity of humor. Peer coaching may also be a good way to insure that students learn the hidden curriculum. The hidden curriculum is information about values, beliefs and attitudes that are somehow conveyed to students regarding the rules and routines needed to succeed in school and in society. The goals set by coaching teams could easily include information from the hidden curriculum as it applies to the behavior of the child with ADHD. • 20. The Cause Of The French Revolution The Cause of the French Revolution Throughout history, what remains true is that the people are the ones who start a revolution. And when around 98% of a population is suffering to make a living, there is little hope for those in power. Taxes levied only on the common folk, crippling wars that left France with huge debts, and the careless spending of the upper classes ultimately lead to the start of the revolution. The main political cause was that the King had too much power but weak foreign policy leads to economic downturn. The main social cause was that French society was too imbalanced but it was truly economic exploitation of the lower class. The French Revolution had many probable causes, all linked together, but none as important and defining as the economic aspect. There were social and political causes to the French Revolution but both derived from economic cause. The imbalance of social classes was in part the root of the lower classes hatred towards the upper class. But it was because the lower class had no mobility in French Society that people started looking for change. Moving up in rank or position was nearly impossible and those with power, always had the power. This proved to be troublesome as one s hard work would not reap any benefits and would still have to pay heavy taxes to provide lavish lives for those in the upper class. • 26. Analysis Of Little Women By Louisa May Alcott Born on this day in 1832, Louisa May Alcott led a fascinating life. Besides enchanting millions of readers with her novel Little Women, she worked as a Civil War nurse, fought against slavery, and registered women to vote. For Louisa, writing was an early passion. She had a very deep and rich imagination and her novels often became the basis of melodramas that she and her sisters would act out for their friends. Louisa preferred to play the lurid parts in these plays the villains, ghosts, bandits, and disdainful queens. Scholars have argued that Little Women affects critics emotionally because of their adolescent connection to the story, thus coloring scholarly interpretations of the work. This essay will talk about Alcott and the three critics Judith Fetterly, Ken Parille and Sarah Wordsworth who criticized the story Little Women from different perspectives. This novel takes a place in the civil war, when the march family is divided, the father is at the work and the only way they communicates with each other is by letters were their father instructs them to be better and to fight their inner demons. Robotics is a program centralized around STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Today, many schools will have a robotics program, most of which are run by either VEX or FIRST. All of these programs are centralized around a team working together to build a robot to the best of their ability to score as many points as possible. All the while, participants also learn teamwork and technical skills that can be applied to the real world. I have been a part of VEX Robotics Competition for three years, and prior to that participated in FIRST Lego League for five years. Throughout this essay, I will mainly focus on VEX Robotics Competition, as that is the program that I am currently a part of. STEM and robotics programs in schools must become more available and receive more time and attention because they help train students for engineering fields which are steadily growing, assist students in being accepted into colleges, and transform lessons in school into practical, real world skills. To begin, engineering fields have shown consistent growth, so it is important that students are prepared for pursuing these fields. Experience early on with practical skills in a robotics club setting can give students an edge if they choose to go into engineering. For this reason, it is important that robotics be available to as many students as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ocean pollution is a big threat to the habitat and still today we haven t stopped throwing trash, chemicals or toxins into the oceans. During the 1940 s, a technical service of the Army dumped a lot of chemical warfare into the sea, believing the type of gas will dissolve in the water becoming harmless in minutes. At that time, fishermen were able to catch a lot of fish, it wasn t until they were out of luck and all they could see were dead fish floating on the surface. Many people think that oil spills and trash are the only types of ocean pollution, but they re also forgetting about chemical, bacterial and thermal pollution. Polluted seas can be the cause of many diseases or infections, especially if people don t take big measures like telling their kids not to accidentally drink water from rivers or lakes when swimming. Marine animals are a big part of our food chain if they carry diseases or toxins we re also in big danger. Today, there have been many people who have been trying to stop others from polluting the oceans, but they still haven t been able to convince the whole world to end ocean pollution. The government, instead of wasting money on unnecessary things like building walls or building more towers and creating more trash they should build trash contractors that will help with the trash floating around in the seas. The Role Of A Hero In Geoffrey Trease s Cue For Treason Most people dream to be a hero, a hero that is admired, courageous, noble, and a role model to everyone because of what they have achieved. Everyone s point of view of being a hero is different, some might state that being a hero means solving crimes and wears capes like all superhero in movies. The others might say that a hero is a soldier that fights for their country. Peter Brownrigg, a fourteen year old Cumberland farm boy is a hero that does not wear a cape. Peter s acts of determination and outstanding bravery pushes him to defeat Sir Philip Morton and his followers in their objective to assassinate the queen of England in the story Cue for Treason by Geoffrey Trease. Peter s bravery is tremendous, if the situation is life threatening he will achieve what he desires. Peter successfully climbs up the Yellow Gentleman s house by only using daggers to retrieve the script for the play. Peter says, each time I put my weight on a fresh dagger, my heart went into my mouth and I heaved for the splash below. ( Trease 132) while he was climbing the side of the house. Daggers are the only material that Peter used to climb up the building. Climbing up a building, especially with daggers is not something that every fourteen years old can accomplish or execute. Wallace Stevens and Emile Durkheim Essay example Wallace Stevens and Emile Durkheim To more fully understand Stevens poem The Idea of Order at Key West, one can look at the ideas of the poem in context of social philosophical thought. Emile Durkheim s theories on religion closely parallel those of Stevens. Both men believe that there is no supreme greater being, or God, that gives things order and meaning. But both men also believe that humans need to read order and meaning into the world to understand it, even if the meaning humans imply is false because there is no God. Since this aspect of both men s ideas is so similar, Durkheim s outline of ideas on religion can form a model by which Stevens poem can be analyzed. Lines 18 20 of The Idea of Order at Key West state, Whose spirit is this? we said/ It was the spirit we sought and knew/ That we should ask this often as she sang. These lines express Stevens idea that humans long for explanations to why things happen. In this particular poem, the explanation of the essence of the sea is discussed. The people asking, Whose spirit is this? realize that there seems to be a sort of external power (181), as Durkheim says, but cannot explain it. The people see the sea is more than that, more than even her voice (36 37). Because the sea cannot just be more, it has to be put in concrete terms, and Stevens says that humans inevitably personify nature to put it in forms that they can understand. Stevens personification is a different method than what Durkheim suggests, which is that humans create religious projections of society and nature in order to understand them. While these methods differ, both men acknowledge that humans have to find meaning on a personal level of individual conscience. Stevens supports that, in trying to make the essence of nature understandable, the people in the poem inevitably personify the sea. It is almost impossible for humans to see things in inhuman terms. British Romantic poets have composed forms of literary art that is centered on childhood, they describe how significant that period is in a being s life. The inclusion of childhood in the poetic work of Wordsworth, Blake, and Rousseau defined how children were robbed of their youth. All three British Romantic poets, held beliefs that children were of nature; pure and perfectly made. In the same way, Romantics advocated the belief that children manifested innocence. Accordingly, the poets wrote about how the child should be protected from the immoral ways of man. The main topics described by each author provides the audience an awareness of the working conditions and lack of education children faced. The role of the child in British romantic poetry depicts the idea that children possess a separate identity from adults concluding that they should not be stripped of their innocence. Of that number, 8.6 million were eligible under state policies. Yet only 1.5 million children actually received the subsidies. That means only 10.6 percent of the number of children meeting federal guidelines actually get the subsidy (Davidson 2017). The question that will be answered throughout this paper is, how accessible is childcare in the United States? Child care is the care of children by a day care center, babysitter, or other provider while parent/ parents/ or legal guardian is working. The median household income for the United States is $53,8895 (Census Bureau) and the average cost of childcare is between $10,000 and $16,000 (Hamm 2015). In the 1960 s the civil rights and women s rights were in their embryonic stages. All of these ideas coming together created the illusion of The American Dream. Back then; the American dream was equated with freedom and material prosperity, two concepts that ring true today. The definition of the American dream changes as society in the United States changes, and the connotation and reality of the American Dream is disheartening. Two literary compositions give a realistic outlook on what the American Dream really is. In Death of a Salesman and The American Dream, Arthur Miller and Edward Albee masterfully relay the true nature and ideologies of The American Dream. In theory, the American Dream is the idea that every person residing in the United States of America should live a richer and fuller life, regardless of the class one is born in.
