Introduction: The Elwha river is located on the Olympic Peninsula of the Pacific Northwest in
Washington State. It travels 72 kilometers from the Olympic range in the Olympic National Park
to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Before human disturbance this watershed was considered one of the
most productive ecosystems in Washington State and all of the Pacific Northwest (Duda). In
the early 1900 s two dams were built in this watershed on the Elwha river forming two lakes. The
Elwha hydroelectric dam at river kilometer (rKm) 7.9 (Figure 1.) was finished in 1913 and
formed the Aldwell lake. 14 years later when electricity demands were greatly increased the
Glines dam (Figure 2.) was built further upstream at river kilometer (rKm) 21.6 which then

APF is basically of two types. They are (i) Shunt APF (ii) Series APF
(i) Shunt APF
This type of configuration is widely used in active filtering applications. A shunt APF has a
controllable voltage or current source. Fig. 3.4 demonstrates principal configuration of a voltage
source inverter based APF which the most common type of shunt APF today. It is based on the
principle of injection of harmonic current equivalent to the distorted current waveform, thus
eliminating the original distorted current. This is connected in shunt with the distribution line

(ii) Series APF
Basic principle of this type of configuration is isolation of harmonics in between nonlinear load and
source. The basic configuration is similar with shunt APF, except that interfacing inductor is
replaced by an interfacing transformer, where the injection of harmonic voltage occurs. It is
otherwise known as a harmonic isolator, which offers zero impedance to the fundamental and
infinite impedance to the harmonic frequency components. Fig. 3.5 demonstrates the basic

Leadership Of An Organization And Making Decision
When managing an organization and making decision, it is important to develop leadership
skills. Leadership is multi faceted and there are many different approaches that are used in
leadership. What is leadership? Leadership is the ability to influence a group toward the
achievement of a vision or a set of goals. (Robbins Judge p. 385) Leaders are those who have the
influence to motivate people to take a vision and put it into action. Often, people in management
have assumed positions of leadership, meaning because of the nature of their position, they will
have to make leadership decisions and influence those they lead toward a goal or vision.
Problem Statement
Although someone in a management position may have to assume a leadership role, it does not
mean that this person is automatically fit to lead. Just because an organization provides its
managers with certain formal rights is not assurance that they will be able to lead effectively.
(Robbins Judge p. 12) Sometimes, leaders emerge from a group without having a formal title or
position. With the need for organizations to have not only strong management but strong leadership,
it is important to fit the leader s leadership style to the situation. Finding the right leader for the
position is not the only concern however. It is also important to have leaders who are ethical and
that can be trusted. Unfortunately, making sure leaders act with proper ethical values is largely
overlooked
