Merce Cunningham s Influence On Modern Dance
For seventy years Merce Cunningham lead an innovative career that expanded the worlds of dance,
visual, and performing arts. With the use of chance procedures in his choreography, and the idea to
separate music and dance, Cunningham created a unique repertoire of work for the Merce
Cunningham Dance Company. I will be arguing that through the evaluation and analysis of Merce
Cunningham s choreography, he developed an innovative technique based off of the forms and
structures of classical ballet. Additionally, Cunningham s use of traditional gender roles within his
choreography, and the increasing use of technology in Cunningham s work, contributed to a sense of
abstraction that supported the maintenance of the homosexual closet. Merce Cunningham ... Show

When Cunningham first started to work with other dancers he encountered an obstacle in the dancers
background. Either they were classical dancers or dancers who had been trained in the Graham style,
and although some of them studied with me, their principle training had been in other techniques...so I
began to work out some kind of technique (Cunningham, Lesschaeve 1985: 54). Cunningham built his
technique with both balletic influences as well as modern dance influences, and focused on how to
combine those elements. He observed that in modern dance the majority of the movement came from
the torso and the back with little involvement of the legs. In ballet they used the legs and the arms,
while keeping the back straight and solid to support the limbs. For his technique Cunningham focused
on how to start the movement from the back so that it was connected to the leg movement, and then to
the movement of the arms, so that his technique challenged the full body (Cunningham, Lesschaeve
1985:59). To watch Cunningham s movement, the classical ballet lines and shapes are highly evident.
But there is a key detail within the technique that makes the movement very different from the
classical épaulements in ballet, ...all of my work comes from the trunk, from the waist, nearest the hip,
and you tilt it or you twist it in every direction. It doesn t come from the shoulders, but from much
farther down. Further than that, I relate it to or against the leg... I have eight directions that I use to
open the space up all the way round (Cunningham, Lesschaeve 1985: 62). In his technique moving
from the back to affect the full body has developed lines and movements that are foreign to the ballet
vocabulary. These movements include

Describe Michael s Identity In This Is It
1. Aesthetics. How do Michael s wardrobe, dance, vocal, poetic, and performative choices all point to
a particular style? What would you, as a critic, call this style, and why? As a critic, I would call
Michael s style transgressive. Michael tacitly challenged gendered, sartorial mores and wore women s
couture like Givenchy and Balmain, adding androgynous touches like his trademark ornamented glove
and cropped pants. His dance skills were similarly daring from his pioneer pop lock style to his
signature, risqué crotch grab. His performative choices blended this corporeal innovation with digital
spectacle and married with them with a mélange of sound, which distilled elements of pop, funk and
soul. Perhaps most transgressive were his vocal choices, however; a high tenor, Michael had a three
and a half octave range, according to vocal coach Seth Riggs, and he managed to connect this range in
a fluid, unprecedented way. 2. Identity. How would you describe this identity, and ... Show more

His perfectionism is displayed in the film multiple times: (1) When he corrects the band s bass level
and timing during the sound check for The Way You Make Me Feel ; (2) when he insists that the light

cue that conflicts with the director s initial cue for Smooth Criminal ; and (4) when he corrects the
timing on the appearance of the bulldozer during the Earth Song rehearsal. With respect to his
humanitarian side, Michael demonstrates patience and benevolence toward his entourage and
evidences a similar goodwill in his socially conscious songwriting namely the Earth Song, which
encourages environmental accountability and community involvement. Michael s scandal ridden

This will attract more customers to rent from Enterprise because one they will help to contribute to
keep the environment clean and also because they have hybrid cars they will also be able to save
money because they will get more miles to the gallon. Political, Legal Politics also plays a major role
in factors that affect Enterprise. Two examples, one if there is a political upheaval in another country it
may cause oil prices to rise and second, if the government decided to raise taxes on cars. Both of these
situations would affect Enterprise because to compensate for these added costs they may have to
increase the cost of rentals and the demand for rentals will go down, as some consumers may not be
able to afford to rent a car. The company should be focused and aware of what is going on in the world
both locally and abroad so that if a situation occurs or they see where a situation could cause a threat
for them they have a system where they can use the price of one rental to offset the other so that
consumers will not have to pay that much more for a rental. Technological In the 21st century the
world has become so technologically advanced that businesses now need to take part in social media.
Enterprise has begun taking part in this, as they are on Facebook and Twitter. As the case has stated
Enterprise is still lacking certain aspects of social media, example an iPhone app and YouTube, but

Essay on Prozac -- the Toxic Miracle Drug
Prozac the Toxic Miracle Drug
America s society has turned to an aggressive means to treat the overwhelming numbers of people
who suffer from depression antidepressant medication. The National Institute of Mental Health... has
estimated that almost 10 million Americans are seriously depressed and that a total of 14 million will
suffer from it during their lifetimes (7). Taking psychiatric drugs such as Prozac has become trendy.
People no longer covertly take antidepressants, but discuss their medications openly as if there were
nothing wrong with chemically altering one s brain. This is partly due to how psychiatrists propose the
necessity of Prozac and other such drugs. Psychiatrists explain that Prozac will counteract the ... Show

Pharmaceutical companies do everything they can to make the studies turn out right (7). Some people
may think that the federal government actually supervises the safety of all the drugs that are screened,
but this is not the case. The drug manufacturers themselves do the testing and can therefore pick the
doctors who would endorse the drug. These are often people with longstanding relationships with the
company. In the Manufacturer s Report of June 1998, Eli Lilly claims: the efficacy of Prozac for the
treatment of patients with depression ( 18 years of age) has been studied in 5 and 6 week placebo
controlled studies (6). There are several major points that are essentially left unsaid by this statement.
One might ask is this drug safe for adolescence or the elderly; what are the effects of long term
dosages on the nervous system; was this drug able to prevent suicide in at risk patients? The answer to
these questions is that they don t know. The community at large is basically one big guinea pig at the
moment with thousands of people on antidepressants. 86 percent of all the patients in all the studies
were treated for three months or less (7). This is inadequate time to monitor the effects on one s body.
It will not be surprising if, twenty years from now, someone discovers major damage is done to the
liver or the brain. There has already been evidence that Prozac is addictive. In addition to the lack of
long term observations, the trials did not

March 16, President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to take Associate Justice Scalia s seat. The
Chicago native graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School and worked as a federal

This was illustrated quite clearly in his frequent and angry dissents of his colleague s majority opinion.
Conversely Mr. Garland works to unite and mold opinions to be unanimous. In his nineteen years on

Sylvia for help to search for a rare bird. The ornithologist s tone may sound as if he was desperate for

discovers that they both share a common interest for animals and nature. At this moment, Sylvia found
the ornithologist charming and wants to build a friendship with this character. As the story progresses,
Sylvia realizes that the ornithologist is a hunter and changes her interest in him, as it states in the text,

Interview About Me Essay
Interview about Me Rubi Garza Texas A M International University The purpose for this interview
assessment is to measure an individual s personality by having two interviewees who know them very
well answer questions about them. The Informant Report Data approach and the qualitative method
are used for this test. The reliability, validity, and generalization of the test are examined separately in
order to see how effective they are. The results provide characteristics of the individual and a
reflection of their personal thoughts about the test. The findings concluded low degree of reliability

In my reflection, I concluded a pattern from the Self interview assessment and found motivation from

Questionnaire
Chapter 5 QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN AND SCALE DEVELOPMENT
Naresh K. Malhotra, Georgia Institute of Technology
Introduction
This chapter describes the importance of a questionnaire and presents the process for developing
questionnaires and observational forms. Guidelines for questionnaire construction are provided at each
stage of the process. In addition, commonly used scaling techniques and use of questionnaires in
experimentation are discussed and the design of observational forms is presented.1
What Is a Questionnaire?
A questionnaire is a formalized set of questions for obtaining information from respondents. The
overriding objective is to translate the researcher s information needs into a set of specific questions
that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are exceptions to this rule. Filler questions may be added to disguise the purpose or sponsorship
of the project. For example, in brand studies, a researcher may include questions about the full range
of competing brands so that the respondents won t know who is sponsoring the study. Early in the
interviewing process when the researcher is attempting to build a relationship with respondents and
capture their attention, a few easy to answer neutral questions may be helpful. At times, certain
questions may also be repeated for the purpose of assessing reliability or validity.
Are Several Questions Needed Instead of One?
In some cases, two questions are better than one. However, asking two questions in one is not the
solution. Consider the following question:
Do you think JC Penney offers better variety and prices than other department stores stores?
(Incorrect)
A yes answer will presumably be clear, but what if the answer is no ? Does this mean that the
respondent thinks that JC Penney does not offer better variety, that it does not offer better prices, or
that it neither offers better variety nor better prices? Such a question is called a doublebarreled
question because two or more questions are combined into one. To avoid confusion, these questions
should be asked separately,

Research Paper On Non Ruminants
Pigs are non ruminants because they are single stomached and eat feed that is low in fiber. Cows,
however are ruminates because they have a four chambered stomach.
The rumen is the biggest part of the bovines stomach, holding up to 50 gallons of partially digested
food at a time. It contains enzymes that start the digestion process, breaking down the hard food and
cellulose. The food may spend 15 to 48 hours in and out of the rumen being chewed, swallowed,
regurgitated and swallowed again and again before it moves on to the second part of the stomach, the
reticulum.
The next part is the reticulum which traps anything that the cow should not have eaten, such as pieces
of fencing, rocks and pieces of wire. The reticulum also softens the grass that has been eaten and
forms small wads of cud.The omasum s main purpose is to squeeze out the water and further break
down the cud, so the cow can regurgitate it and swallow it again. The abomasum completes the
digestion process. It passes essential nutrients to the bloodstream and sends the rest through the
intestines. This is very important because cows absolutely need these fibers and nutrients. ... Show

The small intestine then takes in the partially digested food and mixes it and absorbs the nutrients.
Next, is the large intestine which has the job of absorbing water and adding mucus to the food. The
anus is the end of the digestive tract and is where all the waste exists. The liver then produces bile
which acts on the fat, the gallbladder stores the bile until it is needed. The pancreas produces insulin

Wharton s Allusions In The Age Of Innocence

Diana with Preserving Fluid in Veins and Savage Bride in an Opera Box:
Wharton s Allusions in The Age of Innocence to Primitive and Pagan Myths and Beliefs When reading
the comment of Archer made on Mrs. Welland s simulation of reluctance at the time she hears about
the engagement of her daughter and Archer, comparing her action to the Primitive culture in which
savage bride is dragged with shrieks from her parents tent (Wharton, 22). , most of the students of

Her connection with wild nature (both the real, uncultivated nature and the man s sphere in society
without protection), which is a major and substantial characteristic of Diana that shows her mystical
power, is shown in the story by the impressions she left on Archer. He thought that at a unpruned
garden, the tumbledown house, and the oak grove under which the dusk was gathering seems to be so
exactly the place in which he ought to have found Madame Olenska (103). When he founds her alone
in the publicity, he asked her But what on earth are you doing in this wilderness (105)? Archer s
mentioning of the oak grove is another specific clue that leads to the identity of Diana, as she is
actually queen of the woods in general and also goddess of the oaks in particular (Frazer, II, 380).
Ellen s first name as the shortened version of Helen might also be an allusion to Diana, who is also
known as Helen of the Tree (Frazer, V, 292). Besides, working in concert with May s marriage with
Archer around Easter, the mutual confession of Countess Olenska and Archer takes place in middle of
August, when Diana s own day is celebrated (Frazer, I, 12 14) (Scheick, 3). Moreover, the term flower
of life with a little bit of ambiguity and inexplicability kind of resembles the term heart of life she used
in her previous work, which refers to Diana and thus readers could suggest that the

Erich Fromm s Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral...
Erich Fromm s Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem In Disobedience as a
Psychological and Moral Problem, Erich Fromm (1963) argues that society will self destruct without
achieving freedom through disobedience. Fromm begins with analogies of Hebrew and Greek
mythology showing how disobedience to a god freed humans. Using this correlation, Fromm shows
freedom as a condition for disobedience, and vice versa. Therefore, Fromm proclaims that without
disobedience the human race could destroy itself within a generation. Fromm s article, first published
in 1963, stems from fear of a third world war. Despite the outdated comment by Behrens and Rosen in
the introduction, the article still applies to suggestion human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Fromm relates this to the fetus in the womb and to cutting the umbilical cord to become fully human.
In both situations, Fromm believes the disobedience in both situation results in freedom. The Adam
and Eve analogy holds true only to creationists, not to evolutionists. Atheists, agnostics, and other
religions simply reject the Garden of Eden story. For these people, the process of becoming fully
human resulted in evolution over thousands of years. However, if the analogy is true for the fetus, one
must assume the mother demands the baby to stay in the womb, not to enter the new world. Yet the
purpose of procreation is to bring a new child into this world. Birth is a natural process, not a medical
procedure, thus cannot be forever prolonged (Childbirth.org). How often is it mothers are disappointed
pregnancy did not last longer? Most mothers become ecstatic when pregnancy is over and she can
enjoy God s creation. Fromm (1963) uses the analogy in his essay to suggest the baby disobeys God.
However, once conception occurs, the mother has only one choice under God s law giving birth. A few
examples of God s will are in 1 Timothy 2:15, women will be saved through childbearing, and how
Exodus 21:22 23 mentions morally wrong abortion. With thousands of biblical examples, it should be
hard for a religious scholar to suggest a baby disobeys God s will by leaving its mothers womb.
Disobeying God can

very hard to separate terrorists from Muslims, but it has been difficult. Economical and geopolitical

The War on Terror campaign has been addressed by many other names such as: World War III, Bush s
War on Terror, The Long War and The Global War on Terror. It with in Camp David on September 16,
2001, that President George W. Bush used the term War on Terror. In an infamous quote, President
Bush said, This crusade this war on terrorism is going to take a while... This comment was deemed
controversial due to the negative associations of the term crusade with Muslims.
The term War on Terror alone has created a psychological phenomenon that struck fear in the minds of
many Americans. The Bush Administration elevated those three words to a national mantra that had
impacted the American democracy destructively. It had impacted the American psyche as well as the
United States standing in the world. In an article by Zibigniew Brzezinski, he explains, Using this

fanatics who may use terrorism against us.

Genetically engineered goods are a huge controversy in the United States. There has been a lot of
conflict between different groups about whether or not genetically engineered foods should be so
widely sold or at least not labeled. There are many people on both sides of the argument that have
given great insight as to what genetically engineered foods can do for/to people. Those that are in
favor of genetically modified food say that it allows for farmers to have a less risky harvest and this
can then lead to producing more food for a higher population. To some people, this sounds like a good
benefit to genetically modified foods. Others, however, have found that these facts simply don t help

Mice that were fed Roundup Ready Soy had problems with their liver cells. They said that they found
the mice had oddly shaped nucleoli and an abnormal amount of nuclear pores. This was said to have
changed their gene expression or the process at which information from a gene is used in the synthesis
of a functional gene product. Scientists said that this could have increased the metabolism of the mice
and it could have possibly been caused because of a toxin from the food that had built up in its system

Another case was one that was experimented on mice with, once again Roundup Ready Soy, showed
another result occurring from the subjects ingesting genetically altered food. The experiment consisted
of female mice being fed the altered soy before conception, during birth, and after birth. The mortality
rate of the mice was around 55%, which was considerably higher than the mice not fed the genetically

A Closer Look At The Fourteenth Amendment s Equal...
Markus Allard Professor Anne Redding Administrative Justice 245 20 November 2016 A Closer Look
At The Fourteenth Amendment s Equal Protection Clause Our 14th amendment is perhaps the most
important amendment because it helps defend some of our fundamental rights. This amendment
extends the due process procedure to all citizens when trying to deprive them of life, liberty, or
property. The amendment also ensures that everyone born in the United States or naturalized is
guaranteed citizenship. This helped grant the right to vote for many americans who before were
excluded from this right. It was ratified on july 9th in 1868 following the civil war along with 13th
and 15th amendment. These are known as the civil war amendments and had to be accepted by the
southern states in order for them to be brought back into the union. The 14th amendment in particular
was designed to protect the basic civil rights granted in the constitution to all americans. However a
lot of issues have arose over time in regarding the 14th amendment equal protection clause.
Movements like Black Lives Matter have brought forth some of these issues happening today. The
supreme court has made interpretations of the 14th amendment in cases like Plessy vs Ferguson,
Brown vs the Board of Education, and even in when overturning the case Dred Scott vs Sanford. To
better understand the 14th amendment s equal protection clause we have to take a closer look at the

China, India and UAE are among some of the countries that have imposed regulations and monitor the
data traffic. (Jeffrey Hays, 2011) According to analysts China is now the biggest consumer of
smartphones with 640 million customers up to date and growing. Such strict regulations can prove to
be an obstacle in the short term; however the market is too big to be ignored by all producers and is
likely to see strict compliance with the government regulatory bodies. Another concern is the strict
manufacturing codes imposed by countries in the European Union. Those are related to the hygiene
and safety standards, paying close attention to the use of toxic materials. This can put some pressure
on smaller producers, but is not likely to disturb production for key players. Social There are several
social factors which have a great impact on the smartphone and tablet industry. Those are the
lifestyle, education and income levels. For example holidays and celebrations are periods with a higher
demand for such electronic goods. The most common and easily observable period is the Christmas
one, with considerable high sales during November and December. Retailers yet to report are expected
to unveil superficially strong growth figures, after Christmas. (BBC, 2012) Education increasingly

Essay The Pedagogy of the Oppressed
The Pedagogy of the Oppressed What does the opinion expressed in Paulo Freire s banking education
metaphor really say about modern society and the disenfranchised? Freire begins Chapter Two of his
novel Pedagogy of the Oppressed, by analyzing the teacher student relationship that is characteristic of
the Socratic/Lecture Teaching Methods. Freire refers to these teaching methods as the banking concept
of education, where the students are considered empty bank accounts just passively and robotically
waiting to be filled with deposits from the omniscient professors. (1) While at first, the metaphor
seems novel, upon closer inspection, Friere is making a bold and controversial statement about the
current power hungry and oppressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freire continued to stress the power of communication later in the chapter when he wrote:
The bank clerk educator does not realize that there is no true security in his hypertrophied role that
one must seek to live with others in solidarity. One cannot impose oneself, nor even merely co exist
with one s students. Solidarity requires true communication, and the concept by which such an
educator is guided fears and proscribes communication. Yet only through communication can human
life hold meaning... Authentic thinking, thinking that is concerned about reality, does not take place in
ivory tower isolation, but only in communication. (4)
Once again, I am reminded of Keenan s song and how in my life, silence, ignoring, denying, and
stuffing have never proved healthy or beneficial. In fact, I believe that these are destructive,
emotionally violent actions that perpetuate the social polarity and self obsession that damage
relationships and any sense of social unity.
On a lighter note, while reading this chapter, I got the feeling that Freire might be a Political Scientist;
he mentioned libertarian education and populist manifestations, which lead me to a another question.
Now, it has been a while since I took a Political Science class, but what was Freire referring to when

An Analysis Of The Socialist Alternative
Quintessentially, we need to join all forces socialists, liberals, deep greens, trade unionists, feminists,
indigenous activists (Angus, p. 221) everyone who is willing to demand decisive actions to stop
greenhouse gas emissions protecting nature and ecological balance. The ecological emergency is a
great challenge for the renewal of a revised Marxists thought and a break from the ideology of linear
progress. Moreover, we need to translate the innate human solidarity that happens in natural disasters
or war time, Angus gives very good examples in merit referring to Hurricane Katrina, (Angus, p.193),
in everyday life, building a human solidarian society that performs beyond self interest, as Michael
Lebowitz describes in The socialist Alternative (Angus, p. 193). The main problem is that we are
running against time and sectarian isolation of movements. (Angus, p.195) What are the goals of an

Out of every given site, site E was most likely to have fossils because it has the traits that are needed
to find fossils. There is no vegetation, lots of sedimentary rock, and shows evidence of erosion. In this
project, our group evaluated every site to find the most fossils and narrowed it down to site E. To start
it off, there is an absence of vegetation. This makes fossil finding easier because the paleontologists
don t need to dig under trees, roots, and other assorted plants to get to fossils that may have been
hidden under vegetation. This makes digging much harder as opposed to sedimentary rocks. When
vegetation lies on the ground, it is much harder to find fossils as the time spent uncovering the ground
of plants will take up more

Treatment Of Patients With Renal Failure
Every year more and more patients are diagnosed with renal failure. In hemodialysis the amount of
dialysis each patient receives is less, compared to at home dialysis and nocturnal dialysis treatments.
Kidneys are important organs for survival. Humans cannot filter harmful wastes, fluids, salts,
potassium, and phosphorus without kidneys. When diagnosed with renal failure a patient relies on a
dialysis machine to adequately remove the harmful wastes from their blood. One of the main ongoing
battles between dialysis patients and their providers is adequate fluid control. There are
recommendations set out for patients to follow but with weather getting hotter each year, patients are
finding it harder to abide by the rules due to excess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Between 1943 and 1945, Dr. Willem Kolff finished his invention and tested the machine on 16
patients, but had unsuccessful trials. Around 1945, he treated a 67 year old who successfully woke up
from a coma, after being on hemodialysis for 11 hours. With all the new advancements today,
successful outcomes should be the first thing doctors think of, rather than, focusing on the number of
patients nephrology can schedule in. Lupus is another concern that nephrology faces which affect all
races and has made it more of a challenge for doctors throughout the years. In most cases, patients
with end stage renal disease and lupus get separated from the other patients because they are classified
as higher risk. Antonio Inda Filho, et al., believe that The development of lupus related end stage renal
disease (ESRD) confers the highest mortality rates among individuals with lupus (590). Unfortunately,
this is true only when doctors are unable to stabilize systemic lupus. This should not be a debatable
topic, nephrologist need to communicate with rheumatology and come up with an aggressive dialysis

stabilization. Antonio Inda Filho, et al., addressed that The complication alterations contributes to the
speeding process of atherosclerosis and a higher chance of infection (591). End stage renal disease

Why Do Girls Go To School
Why do some girl can t go to school?
Education is a must for everyone, despite your gender, economy status, religion, education is crucial.
Unfortunately some countries are so old fashion they don t allow girl to go to school. They said girl

problem for the entire world. This can cause many girls around the world can t be educated due to

Personally I think because girls behave better than boys, girls need education as much as boys did or
sometime girls even need it more due to an old tradition that boys will always be better than girls.
Education will be a perfect prove for girls to say they can be as good as boy or better than them. Rules

Financial Disclosure Of A Company
In any business operations, full financial disclosure refers to the provision of the necessary
information about a company for better decision making by the people accustomed. It is the financial
revelation of a given company. There are some financial disclosures in any business that ensure proper
understanding of financial statements to the financial readers, or potential auditors. Examples are the
annual financial reports and the financial declarations of the company. The annual financial reports of
the enterprise are very useful since they discloses the revenues recognized in the business, and the
accountability of the inventories plus the income taxes accounted for during that period of operation.
Second, is the disclosure of this financial statements which gives the actual revelation of the company

s balance sheet of the year, income statements and also the cash statements flows of that year. This
information gives a proper understanding of the financial status users about the effects of inflation and
price change on property and inventories (Berger, 2011).

about their financial reports. It clearly discloses its annual and quarterly financial reports which bring

By 1994 a significant year in the company s history Greggs consisted of more than 500 stores
operating in seven regional divisions. The stature of the company at this point was about to increase
substantially, providing a fitting tribute to the company s tenth year as a publicly traded concern. In
mid 1994, Greggs acquired the retail baking interests belonging to Allied Bakeries Limited. The
transaction nearly doubled the size of the company, adding 424 shops and a new brand to the company
s portfolio, Bakers Oven.
The acquisition of Allied Bakeries added a new dimension to Greggs business strategy, one that
contrasted and complemented the company s operations. Unlike the shops operating under the Greggs
banner, the Bakers Oven shops featured in store bakeries. Rather than assimilate the acquired units
into the company s network of large central bakeries that served a cluster of retail shops, Darrington
and his management team decided to develop Bakers Oven as a separate brand, a decision that opened
new markets for the company s expansion. Through Bakers Oven shops and their in store bakeries, the
company was able to establish a presence in markets with lower population densities than the Greggs
units demanded. For the Greggs model of a central bakery serving satellite shops to make financial
sense, numerous retail outlets needed to be in close

Essay on Media Effects
Media Effects
The Effects of Media on the Public s Opinion Mass media have you ever taken the time to consider
two articles about the same thing? Some may be more bias against a group or idea, while others keep a
strict, non bias view. The way the media portrays events may change or even corrupt people s thoughts
on certain public matters. This paper will dissect four articles on the Woodstock riots and show the
relationships and differences between them. On a Sunday night, near the closing song of the Red Hot
Chili Peppers, there were a few bonfires were reported. The firefighters, feeling they were under

unknown person, Oh man they must of run out of drugs, (page 1 2) struck the author so much that he
made it the title. Facts may be different or changed up to help exaggerate the authors or companies
view points in the articles, Is Rock n Rage Replacing Rock n Roll? and Woodstock Gets Ugly. In the
article, Is Rock n Rage Replacing Rock n Roll? the author spends the majority of his writing
comparing the past two Woodstocks to the current one, barely touching on the subject of the riot. The
article only stated what happened and the fact that the blame should be placed on the band, Limp
Bizkit. The band was said to have urged the audience to break stuff. In the other article, Woodstock
Gets Ugly, it is said that placing one hard core band after another could be a mistake and may be the
cause of the riots, or other happening, to be placed on the organizers of the event, the bands or the
audience. This shows how the companies or authors views can be bias against certain groups or ideas
by placing the blame on a single band, but a non bias paper places the blame all around. The

Violence, death, profanity. Usually a book containing these subjects, along with many other disturbing

Black Hawk Down actually has valuable lessons within it. The author, Mark Bowden, writes about the
Battle Of Mogadishu that occurred from December 1992 to October 1993, and includes useful
information within his novel. He focuses on the truth about war, weaknesses and strengths within it,
and also lessons that can be learned from these subjects. The subject of war is often romanticized.

There are quite a few positive characteristics within the troops as well that make up for the mistakes
they may have made. One main one is that they always have each others backs. The Deltas look after
the Rangers, and act as their role models. It was as if the Rangers saw the D Boys as their big brothers,
and since their big brothers were around, everything would be okay (Bowden 234). This shows the
bond between the troops, and adds emotion to the novel. Another characteristic is that the older
soldiers try to be positive throughout the war, even if situations got tough. Smith was now asking the
medic to tell his parents and family good bye . . . Hold on tight, Schmid told the dying corporal. We re
working on getting you out of here (Bowden 238). There are also some points within the novel that
show soldiers making jokes about their situation, instead of letting it bring them down and get the best
of them. The final trait is that even throughout all of the horrors the two teams went through during
the war, they still did their best and pushed through until it was finally over. There s no doubt that the
perception people have of this episode is that it was a total fiasco. Bowden says. But this was a
successfully completed mission. And in the eyes of the military men involved, it s a mission they re
very proud of (EDIT). So even though these teams saw, heard, and participated in horrifying events, in

Future Goals Analysis
Future Goals:

see every corner of the globe possible. Thankfully, my college has a very nice study abroad program

I am currently terrified that I will not find the career that fits me. I have so many options ahead for me,

play. Pete Wentz was most noticeably the second member of an unnamed band. Peter Wentz was a 21
year old college student with more passion for music then anything else. Pete comes from Wilmette,
where his parents both lived up the suburban way of life. They lived in a townhouse where Pete s
parents weren t one hundred percent ok with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shortly before the tour was about to kick off, Pete Wentz again found himself in the limelight. Pete s
sidekick had reportedly been stolen and some pictures were taken off it and placed on the internet. The
pictures, showed a side of Pete that most teenagers wanted to see, it was Pete s personal genitals. Pete
did not let this incident get him too down. Pete realized that he could not leave the band right before
their fist major tour. The Black Clouds and Underdogs Tour was a major success and Fall Out Boy
found themselves with more growing fame with each passing day. A little less 16 Candles was the
last of the singles to be released from the FUCT. The band went on tour across Europe and Japan to
promote their album, then they stopped making music. They didn t fall off the radar completely. The
band kicked up their own production company, Decaydance. Decaydance promotes well known bands
like Gym Class Heroes, Panic! At The Disco, and The Hush Sound. Also Pete from the band started
his own clothing line, Clandestine Industries. Clandestine Industries was an instant success, with
many of Fall Out Boy s fans purchasing as much merchandise as they could. In July of 2006, the band
let out the news on their popular website falloutboyrock.com, that the band was back in the studios,
working on a new album. The general public could not wait for the album to be released. The

Food Intake
Food Intake 3 Days Jackie Raynor SCI 220 June 14, 2012 Paula Krause Food Intake 3 Days The
purpose of this assignment is to track and display the food choices we make and the way we eat
affects our lifestyle and health. This paper addresses my personal food intake for the past three days.
Next I will compare my food choices with my WileyPlus profile and determine whether I am
maintaining healthy eating habits. There are foods that a person can eat in order to make sure that the
daily required intake is being made. Sometimes it is really hard for a person like me to make sure I eat
all the foods that I am supposed to so that I can consume all the nutrients that my body needs in a day.
I know I will need to modify my eating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a person constantly eats too little proteins they can become susceptible to disease, it can cause a
person to develop anemia, dry skin can develop and in women their bones can become brittle. If a
person does not have enough carbohydrates in their diet they can develop malnutrition which is also
called lack of calories. If a person does not have enough lipids in their diet it can also cause serious
health risks. Fat provides nutrients for the body and supports the body s basic function. Lack of this
macronutrient can cause problems with a person s immune system, skin and vision. My fiber intake
does not meet the requirements of the recommendation for me as calculated in the iProfile website
100% because my intake was way too low. My recommended intake for fiber was 64g 112g and my
intake was only 44g. My three day intake of food did not meet the minimum number of servings of
foods from each fiber containing groups. Both fruits and vegetables fell short of the recommended
intake that was required of me. The foods that provided the most fiber in my days meals were salad,
pizza, and corn flakes. The foods that provided the least amount of fiber were eggs. Trends in my food
choice that may affect my fiber intake would be the places I choose to eat or simply eating out.
Changes that I would make among my vegetables, fruits, meat and meat alternatives and grain choices
to increase my fiber intake would be to eat whole fruits instead of drinking fruit juice,

Research About Ted Bundy and Social Theory
I chose to analyze the case of Ted Bundy because when I was in high school I saw the movie Ted
Bundy. At the time that I watched this movie I was already interested in going to college and majoring
in psychology. I wanted to know why people do the things they do. Going into this subject I find
everything about Ted Bundy s case intriguing. Throughout the course of this class I have learned so
many theories and risk factors that explain why criminals do the things they do. I feel like writing
about Ted Bundy and doing research on his case could benefit my future career in psychology by
gaining knowledge in the field of criminology and all types of risk factors. This could make it easier
for me to spot out what kind of risk factors are found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ted Bundy had some spiral down falls in his life, that he probably never saw coming, but all humans
experience hardships throughout our lives. Of course we all deal with hardships differently, in Ted s
unique case he winded up screwing up his entire life with a series of criminal acts, killing over 30
women.
To the world Ted is known as one of the most notorious serial killers. Many people will ask questions
such as why did he do that? And how could a human being have no remorse for killing any of these
women. Well, in the next few subjects I will try to break it down in two theories as to why Ted Bundy
did what he did. Of course we can t understand entirely why a psychopath serial killer does things, but
there are some theories that can lead us to believe why a serial killer commits such violent acts. On
February 15, 1978 Ted Bundy was arrested in Florida while he was in prison he admitted to raping and
killing more than 30 women and girls, he was suspected of committing over 50 murders. He was
convicted on July 31, 1979. Bundy s beetle bug was where he trapped many of his victims
handcuffing them, knocking them out with a crowbar and then driving them off to a secluded location
to meet their death. Many of Ted s victims remain anonymous, but there are a few that reveal some
stories that they experienced when coming in contact with Ted. ANALYSIS As I watched Ted Bundy s

Dbq Essay On Polio
Poliomyelitis (polio) is a disease that attacks the nervous tissue in the spinal cord and the brain stem
resulting in paralysis (Document One). Polio is caused by the poliovirus, but it is unknown how this
virus is acquired. The virus enters the digestive tract and stays in the intestines for up to eight weeks,
and then attacks the lymphatic system, the blood stream and eventually travels to the brain and spine
(Document Four). Once it is infected in one s body, the disease is highly contagious and can be spread
through contact of saliva, food, germs, or feces (Document Two). The poliovirus causes most of its
infections in the summer and fall. At one time, summer epidemics of polio were common and greatly
feared (Document Four). This may

Analysis Of The Red Pyramid
Just like a pyramid, all things need a structure to help the object fulfill its objective. The novel, The
Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan displays the adventurous life of two young children, Sadie and Carter
Kane, attempting to save their father, Julius Kane, and the world from the god of chaos, Set. Traveling
to different cities in order to gain many allies and valuable information on how to stop Set, Carter and
Sadie also gain fierce enemies in their intriguing journey. Telling the story in a first person point of
view, Sadie and Carter help the reader visualize both sides of the story and how one s perspective can
be so different from another. By looking at the rules and order of the book, the characters and the
religious plot, it is clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, when Sadie and Carter go to retrieve the feather of truth, which is one of the mandatory
objects needed in order to seal up Set, he takes Sadie to the throne of Ma at, the creation of magic,
Why are the scales broken? [Sadie] asked. Anubis frowned. Ma at is weakening. [Anubis] tried to fix
them, but... he spread his hands helplessly. (Riordan 355)
The order of the book is given a foreshadow of what is bound to happen in advance giving Sadie a
chance to change the future for the better. In conclusion, the orders and rules of the book enhances the
theme of learning your own mistakes. Characters is a main contribution to the plot. The characters
allow the plot to be told from their viewpoint and allow the reader to imagine themselves in that
character s shoe. In the novel, The Red Pyramid, Sadie and Carter are affected by the people
surrounding them, varying from gods to family, they adapt to their environment by communicating
and learning the ways they act and live. As Iskandar, the last chief of the House of Life, is explaining
to the kids Julius regrets, he is warning them to not do anything reckless by telling them the mistakes
that Julius made, [Their] mother foresaw a great imbalance... [Julius] knew in [his] heart she was
right, but [he] refused to believe... and [their] parents took it upon themselves to act. They sacrificed
themselves trying to put things right, because [Iskandar] was too stubborn to

Stoicism in The Dreamer of the Rood Essay
The Dream of the Rood uses stoicism to promise reward for suffering where Christ and the cross are
linked, yet paralleled with the dreamer in that he joins in the comitatus of Christ through the cross
therefor gaining redemption and eternal life and home in heaven. Christ himself though does not serve
the same role as he does in biblical texts, here he is brave and stoic, like a great warrior.
The Dream of the Rood presents us with the warrior who is Jesus. This Jesus is not the more passive
character that modern religion embraces, but behaves as an Anglo Saxon warrior as he boldly runs to
the cross for personal honor. Whereas his ascension is described as he sent forth his spirit (49) rather
than gave up his spirit in the Bible, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cross, once plain wood, is now exalted over all forest tress (91) and risen to the status of a lord.
The Dreamer is seeing for himself the validity of Christ s claims of rewarding his faithful servants. So
the Cross, it seems, is now further gift giving and reciprocating by telling the Dreamer that he has
been given a gift by Christ, who died for his sins. The Dreamer interprets the telling of this story by
the Cross as a gift, and so in return for this gift that the Cross has given him, the Dreamer tells the
story of his dream to others in order to tell the tale and let others know of this great gift that was given
to all of humanity by Christ. Its resplendence in its appearance to the dreamer is testament to the
validity of its sacrifice in going against traditional Germanic servitude, which is important to
addressing the comingling of cultures in The Dream of the Rood. This is certainly not heroism and
faithful retainership as the Anglo Saxons were used to it, but the Dreamer s vision of the Cross in all
its glory gives credence to Christ as a lord and gift giver.
The portrayal of Christ as a warrior fighting for his people in Dream of the Rood is a very powerful
picture of a hero and savior. Christ is described here as a young hero, a warrior fighting to save his
people. Christ and the tree are drenched in blood, covered with markings, and yet they stand strong
and have courage. This is truly the mark of a hero in Anglo Saxon

  • 2. Merce Cunningham s Influence On Modern Dance For seventy years Merce Cunningham lead an innovative career that expanded the worlds of dance, visual, and performing arts. With the use of chance procedures in his choreography, and the idea to separate music and dance, Cunningham created a unique repertoire of work for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. I will be arguing that through the evaluation and analysis of Merce Cunningham s choreography, he developed an innovative technique based off of the forms and structures of classical ballet. Additionally, Cunningham s use of traditional gender roles within his choreography, and the increasing use of technology in Cunningham s work, contributed to a sense of abstraction that supported the maintenance of the homosexual closet. Merce Cunningham ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Cunningham first started to work with other dancers he encountered an obstacle in the dancers background. Either they were classical dancers or dancers who had been trained in the Graham style, and although some of them studied with me, their principle training had been in other techniques...so I began to work out some kind of technique (Cunningham, Lesschaeve 1985: 54). Cunningham built his technique with both balletic influences as well as modern dance influences, and focused on how to combine those elements. He observed that in modern dance the majority of the movement came from the torso and the back with little involvement of the legs. In ballet they used the legs and the arms, while keeping the back straight and solid to support the limbs. For his technique Cunningham focused on how to start the movement from the back so that it was connected to the leg movement, and then to the movement of the arms, so that his technique challenged the full body (Cunningham, Lesschaeve 1985:59). To watch Cunningham s movement, the classical ballet lines and shapes are highly evident. But there is a key detail within the technique that makes the movement very different from the classical épaulements in ballet, ...all of my work comes from the trunk, from the waist, nearest the hip, and you tilt it or you twist it in every direction. It doesn t come from the shoulders, but from much farther down. Further than that, I relate it to or against the leg... I have eight directions that I use to open the space up all the way round (Cunningham, Lesschaeve 1985: 62). In his technique moving from the back to affect the full body has developed lines and movements that are foreign to the ballet vocabulary. These movements include ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Describe Michael s Identity In This Is It 1. Aesthetics. How do Michael s wardrobe, dance, vocal, poetic, and performative choices all point to a particular style? What would you, as a critic, call this style, and why? As a critic, I would call Michael s style transgressive. Michael tacitly challenged gendered, sartorial mores and wore women s couture like Givenchy and Balmain, adding androgynous touches like his trademark ornamented glove and cropped pants. His dance skills were similarly daring from his pioneer pop lock style to his signature, risqué crotch grab. His performative choices blended this corporeal innovation with digital spectacle and married with them with a mélange of sound, which distilled elements of pop, funk and soul. Perhaps most transgressive were his vocal choices, however; a high tenor, Michael had a three and a half octave range, according to vocal coach Seth Riggs, and he managed to connect this range in a fluid, unprecedented way. 2. Two examples, one if there is a political upheaval in another country it may cause oil prices to rise and second, if the government decided to raise taxes on cars. Both of these situations would affect Enterprise because to compensate for these added costs they may have to increase the cost of rentals and the demand for rentals will go down, as some consumers may not be able to afford to rent a car. The company should be focused and aware of what is going on in the world both locally and abroad so that if a situation occurs or they see where a situation could cause a threat for them they have a system where they can use the price of one rental to offset the other so that consumers will not have to pay that much more for a rental. In the Manufacturer s Report of June 1998, Eli Lilly claims: the efficacy of Prozac for the treatment of patients with depression ( 18 years of age) has been studied in 5 and 6 week placebo controlled studies (6). There are several major points that are essentially left unsaid by this statement. One might ask is this drug safe for adolescence or the elderly; what are the effects of long term dosages on the nervous system; was this drug able to prevent suicide in at risk patients? The answer to these questions is that they don t know. Filler questions may be added to disguise the purpose or sponsorship of the project. For example, in brand studies, a researcher may include questions about the full range of competing brands so that the respondents won t know who is sponsoring the study. Early in the interviewing process when the researcher is attempting to build a relationship with respondents and capture their attention, a few easy to answer neutral questions may be helpful. At times, certain questions may also be repeated for the purpose of assessing reliability or validity. Are Several Questions Needed Instead of One? In some cases, two questions are better than one. However, asking two questions in one is not the solution. Consider the following question: Do you think JC Penney offers better variety and prices than other department stores stores? (Incorrect) A yes answer will presumably be clear, but what if the answer is no ? Does this mean that the respondent thinks that JC Penney does not offer better variety, that it does not offer better prices, or that it neither offers better variety nor better prices? Such a question is called a doublebarreled question because two or more questions are combined into one. To avoid confusion, these questions should be asked separately, 178 178

  • 11. Research Paper On Non Ruminants Pigs are non ruminants because they are single stomached and eat feed that is low in fiber. Cows, however are ruminates because they have a four chambered stomach. The rumen is the biggest part of the bovines stomach, holding up to 50 gallons of partially digested food at a time. It contains enzymes that start the digestion process, breaking down the hard food and cellulose. The food may spend 15 to 48 hours in and out of the rumen being chewed, swallowed, regurgitated and swallowed again and again before it moves on to the second part of the stomach, the reticulum. The next part is the reticulum which traps anything that the cow should not have eaten, such as pieces of fencing, rocks and pieces of wire. The reticulum also softens the grass that has been eaten and forms small wads of cud.The omasum s main purpose is to squeeze out the water and further break down the cud, so the cow can regurgitate it and swallow it again. The abomasum completes the digestion process. Her connection with wild nature (both the real, uncultivated nature and the man s sphere in society without protection), which is a major and substantial characteristic of Diana that shows her mystical power, is shown in the story by the impressions she left on Archer. When he founds her alone in the publicity, he asked her But what on earth are you doing in this wilderness (105)? Archer s mentioning of the oak grove is another specific clue that leads to the identity of Diana, as she is actually queen of the woods in general and also goddess of the oaks in particular (Frazer, II, 380). Ellen s first name as the shortened version of Helen might also be an allusion to Diana, who is also known as Helen of the Tree (Frazer, V, 292). The Adam and Eve analogy holds true only to creationists, not to evolutionists. Atheists, agnostics, and other religions simply reject the Garden of Eden story. For these people, the process of becoming fully human resulted in evolution over thousands of years. However, if the analogy is true for the fetus, one must assume the mother demands the baby to stay in the womb, not to enter the new world. Yet the purpose of procreation is to bring a new child into this world. Birth is a natural process, not a medical procedure, thus cannot be forever prolonged (Childbirth.org). How often is it mothers are disappointed pregnancy did not last longer? Most mothers become ecstatic when pregnancy is over and she can enjoy God s creation. Fromm (1963) uses the analogy in his essay to suggest the baby disobeys God. However, once conception occurs, the mother has only one choice under God s law giving birth. A few examples of God s will are in 1 Timothy 2:15, women will be saved through childbearing, and how Exodus 21:22 23 mentions morally wrong abortion. This amendment extends the due process procedure to all citizens when trying to deprive them of life, liberty, or property. The amendment also ensures that everyone born in the United States or naturalized is guaranteed citizenship. This helped grant the right to vote for many americans who before were excluded from this right. It was ratified on july 9th in 1868 following the civil war along with 13th and 15th amendment. These are known as the civil war amendments and had to be accepted by the southern states in order for them to be brought back into the union. The 14th amendment in particular was designed to protect the basic civil rights granted in the constitution to all americans. However a lot of issues have arose over time in regarding the 14th amendment equal protection clause. Movements like Black Lives Matter have brought forth some of these issues happening today. The supreme court has made interpretations of the 14th amendment in cases like Plessy vs Ferguson, Brown vs the Board of Education, and even in when overturning the case Dred Scott vs Sanford. To better understand the 14th amendment s equal protection clause we have to take a closer look at the interpretations made by the supreme court to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Jeffrey Hays, 2011) According to analysts China is now the biggest consumer of smartphones with 640 million customers up to date and growing. Such strict regulations can prove to be an obstacle in the short term; however the market is too big to be ignored by all producers and is likely to see strict compliance with the government regulatory bodies. Another concern is the strict manufacturing codes imposed by countries in the European Union. Those are related to the hygiene and safety standards, paying close attention to the use of toxic materials. • 23. Essay The Pedagogy of the Oppressed The Pedagogy of the Oppressed What does the opinion expressed in Paulo Freire s banking education metaphor really say about modern society and the disenfranchised? Freire begins Chapter Two of his novel Pedagogy of the Oppressed, by analyzing the teacher student relationship that is characteristic of the Socratic/Lecture Teaching Methods. Freire refers to these teaching methods as the banking concept of education, where the students are considered empty bank accounts just passively and robotically waiting to be filled with deposits from the omniscient professors. Freire continued to stress the power of communication later in the chapter when he wrote: The bank clerk educator does not realize that there is no true security in his hypertrophied role that one must seek to live with others in solidarity. One cannot impose oneself, nor even merely co exist with one s students. Solidarity requires true communication, and the concept by which such an educator is guided fears and proscribes communication. Yet only through communication can human life hold meaning... Authentic thinking, thinking that is concerned about reality, does not take place in ivory tower isolation, but only in communication. (4) Once again, I am reminded of Keenan s song and how in my life, silence, ignoring, denying, and stuffing have never proved healthy or beneficial. In fact, I believe that these are destructive, emotionally violent actions that perpetuate the social polarity and self obsession that damage relationships and any sense of social unity. On a lighter note, while reading this chapter, I got the feeling that Freire might be a Political Scientist; he mentioned libertarian education and populist manifestations, which lead me to a another question. Of course we all deal with hardships differently, in Ted s unique case he winded up screwing up his entire life with a series of criminal acts, killing over 30 women. To the world Ted is known as one of the most notorious serial killers. Many people will ask questions such as why did he do that? • 45. Stoicism in The Dreamer of the Rood Essay The Dream of the Rood uses stoicism to promise reward for suffering where Christ and the cross are linked, yet paralleled with the dreamer in that he joins in the comitatus of Christ through the cross therefor gaining redemption and eternal life and home in heaven. Christ himself though does not serve the same role as he does in biblical texts, here he is brave and stoic, like a great warrior. The Dream of the Rood presents us with the warrior who is Jesus. This Jesus is not the more passive character that modern religion embraces, but behaves as an Anglo Saxon warrior as he boldly runs to the cross for personal honor. Whereas his ascension is described as he sent forth his spirit (49) rather than gave up his spirit in the Bible, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Dreamer is seeing for himself the validity of Christ s claims of rewarding his faithful servants. So the Cross, it seems, is now further gift giving and reciprocating by telling the Dreamer that he has been given a gift by Christ, who died for his sins. The Dreamer interprets the telling of this story by the Cross as a gift, and so in return for this gift that the Cross has given him, the Dreamer tells the story of his dream to others in order to tell the tale and let others know of this great gift that was given to all of humanity by Christ. Its resplendence in its appearance to the dreamer is testament to the validity of its sacrifice in going against traditional Germanic servitude, which is important to addressing the comingling of cultures in The Dream of the Rood. This is certainly not heroism and faithful retainership as the Anglo Saxons were used to it, but the Dreamer s vision of the Cross in all its glory gives credence to Christ as a lord and gift giver. The portrayal of Christ as a warrior fighting for his people in Dream of the Rood is a very powerful picture of a hero and savior. Christ is described here as a young hero, a warrior fighting to save his people. Christ and the tree are drenched in blood, covered with markings, and yet they stand strong and have courage.
