The Popularity Of Characteristics In Mary Rowlandson s...
Captivity narratives are so popular because people find it more interesting to read something that is
written in first person. Not only is it important that the narrative is in first person, but the writer is also
describing all the events that occurred during their time in captivity, which is very emotional and
people enjoy reading things because of that emotional appeal. Captivity is not something that most
people want to experience, but people want to read about it so that they have a better understanding of
what happens to these victims and even be able to sympathize for them, and maybe provide support
for others who have recently been in captivity. I think that most people have a big enough heart to
where if they read a captivity narrative, they would feel sympathy towards all people who have been
victims of captivity. Most importantly, I believe that captivity narratives are popular and appealing to
the reader because throughout the narrative it shows how the victim dealt with the situation, and how
they were able to survive captivity until they were found.
In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, all of these things are expressed, and she discusses her
entire journey through captivity. One of the main things to take away from this narrative is the amount
of faith that is portrayed throughout all the difficult times. Anyone who were to read this captivity
narrative would recognize how important Rowlandson s faith was to her and her family; even though
the Indians did

Essay about Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience
Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience
ABSTRACT: Many philosophers have lost their enthusiasm for the concept of supervenience in the
philosophy of mind. This is largely due to the fact that, as Jaegwon Kim has shown, familiar versions
of supervenience describe relations of mere property covariation without capturing the idea of
dependence. Since the dependence of the mental on the physical is a necessary requirement for even
the weakest version of physicalism, it would seem that existing forms of supervenience cannot achieve
that for which they were designed. My aim is to revive the concept of supervenience. I argue that if we
construe supervenience along Davidsonian lines as a relation connecting predicates rather than
properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In light of this, many have lost their enthusiasm for this idea.
My goal in this paper is to renew our faith in supervenience. To do so, however, will not require the
development of a new formulation of the concept; instead, it involves clearing up some
misconceptions about an existing version of this relation. I refer to Davidson s original treatment of
supervenience. Most have assumed that Davidson s brand of supervenience is equivalent to Kim s
weak supervenience, which is too weak to express dependence. I will argue that Davidson s
conception of supervenience is, despite certain formal similarities, quite different from Kim s and
clearly captures a sense of psychophysical dependence that is of use to forms of physicalism.
As I see it, the difference between Kim s approach and Davidson s lies in the items supervenience is
thought to connect. Kim s formulations of supervenience connect properties, which he takes to be the
ontological building blocks of events. In general then, Kim treats supervenience as a metaphysical
thesis about the distribution of properties in possible worlds. By contrast, Davidson has little tolerance
for the idea that events should be analyzed in terms of property exemplifications. Given Davidson s
reluctance to endorse properties, he prefers to think of supervenience as a relation between

Voting Rights For Ex Felons
Voting rights for ex felons It s said to be believed that ex felons never seem to have a change in their
life after being released from prison, but the reality is that many ex felons have a drastic change in
their lives after being released from prison. One major concern though that many ex felons have is that
even if they change for the better many are still not having many of their rights restituted and one
being their voting rights. According to a website called Newsmax more than 2 million African
Americans, or close to 8 percent of black adults, aren t able to vote because of felony convictions
compared to just under 2 percent of non African Americans. (Voting Rights: 6 Reasons Ex Felons
Should Vote, 2015) Having more than 2 million African Americans not vote then causes there to be a
major gap of ethnicities being represented on Election Day and to have many laws that will have a big
impact on them to be voted into place. That s why many ex felons should have their voting rights
restituted because it wouldn t only be African Americans not represented but many poor citizens
would also not be represented on Election Day. This is why I m proposing a solution that would allow
more ex felons to gain their voting rights much faster and with less hassle. This issue of allowing
many ex felons to have their voting rights restituted should be on peoples mind because without their
vote the rich would keep running this country. This issue has been effecting many ex felons that

Continuous Improvement Model
I think also it goes to a different mindset, because typically those workers were working in an
economy where they started when they were 20 and work until you are 60 years old in that job setting

twelve more years until retirement and you have to relook at stuff. Interviewer: Okay, so its crystal
ball time. From your perspective and experience, how do you think the Employment Services sector
will evolve over the next decade? Brian: Next decade, depending on what happens next Monday.
Interviewer: Right. Brian: Depending on which crystal ball you are looking at, that will help. Those
policy changes and I know unemployment is a potential issue, but the federal level money coming
down obviously effects things. In the ninety there was more federal money coming down for programs
than there is now. Crystal ball, I think the continuous improvement model is going to fortunately

Often times in the business world, organizations become so fixated on the goals they set, that when
they begin to go wrong, an organization will invest more into that goal instead of looking for a
different path. Oliver Burkeman s book, The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can t Stand Positive
Thinking devotes a whole chapter to the importance or lack thereof of setting goals. In his book, he
tells a story of Chris Kayes who was on the foothills of Mt. Everest at the same time the tragedy that
took the lives of eight climbers depicted in the book, In Thin Air. Kayes observed even through this ...

However on the flip side these same traits used to create a positive environment can also be used to
against the organization. We start with the letter S for specific as this commands that the goal to be
focused and attentive. Unfortunately though, this can actually cause a too narrowed focus where
employees will overlook important details of the task. With a narrowed focus, employees become
blind to everything else but their task and the often times miss a critical detail that could potentially
steer them into a new direction and a more profitable gain or prevent a fatal error from occurring. An
example in this can be seen in the automotive industry of late and the entire vehicle recalls that have
been made due to faulty engine or ignition parts that have caused human fatalities. The automotive
industry giants have a specific goal to create a top of the line vehicle fast and get it out to the market
that they continuously pass over safety issues and inspections in order to accomplish this single goal.
In keeping with the classic notion that you get what you reward (Kerr, 1975, 1995), goal setting may
cause the employee to miss important aspects of their task or performance that are not specifically
outlined by the goal setting system.
Next we move on to the M for measurable and the hazards that can arise from putting a measurable
capacity on goals. Being able to measure progress is said to keep the employees on track and provide

Algonquin tribe is 11000 people (The Canadian Encyclopedia, 2/11/16). In the early 1600 s the tribe
claimed their territory over the eastern woodlands in the subarctic region; living on higher grounds
caused climate restrictions. The Algonquin people had a hard time keeping their gardens alive long
enough to be harvested, as well more animals had to die so their fur could be turned into clothes for

A Research Study On Human Breast Milk
Human breast milk has being known to play a vital role in providing nutrition to babies. Human breast
milk is a natural source of supply for the baby while producing enzymatic, immunologic, and
hormonal elements to the baby (Kennaugh Lockhart Borman, 2011). During the early 20th century
nearly all babies where fed either with maternal breast milk or donated breast milk. (THE HISTORY
OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1) As time progressed on supplement feeding through the use of
artificial milk became more popular then breast milk. Through history mothers have taken a huge
interest in utilizing supplements of donor breast milk to feed their babies nutritious breast milk. When
maternal milk is inadequate or lacking particularly for high risk or premature infants pasteurized
donor milk is the next best option. Donor milk banking plays an important role in meeting these
recommendations . (THE HISTORY OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1)
Some history of how breast milk came about goes all the way back to a practice called wet nursing. It
is a practice when children were either breastfed by their mothers or breast fed by friends, relatives or
strangers. (THE HISTORY OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1)
In the 13th century, European women made more money working as wet nurses than any other
occupation open to women. By early in the twentieth century, awareness of the possibility of disease

Similarities And Differences In The Book Of The Bible
I chose to write about how to help someone understand the difference between books of the Bible,
which was option two. I would first start the conversation by telling my colleague that the Bible is the
whole story of God (Cartwright Hulshof, p. 3). To explain the differences between the books of the
Bible, one must first grasp the difference between the Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament
tells how the world came into existence, the fall of man into sin, the history of God s chosen people,
and how God s chosen people would time and time again rebel against God and his law, but how God
would deliver them from their enemies. The New Testament tells how God s plan of sending a Savior
into the world to save humanity came to fruition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These books show both similarities and differences in the books of the Bible. The Gospels include
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Each book contains the crucifixion of Jesus, but from different
people and different perspectives (Cartwright Hulshof, p. 18). Take for instance the part of the story
where Jesus is hanging on the cross. Matthew tells how there was an earthquake happening and how
the dead rose from the earth. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen
asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and
appeared to many. Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when
they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, Truly
this was the Son of God (Matthew 27:52 54, NASB)! Mark tells how the veil was torn when Jesus
took His final breath. And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed His last. And the veil of the temple
was torn in two from top to bottom. When the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw
the way He breathed His last, he said Truly this man was the Son of God (Mark 15:37 39, NASB)!
The two accounts describe some of the same events but differ on some other key events that took
place during the crucifixion of

How Did God Gave Moses Health Rules For Freedom From...
Summary None of These Diseases 1 5 God gave Moses health rules for freedom from diseases and
pus does not promote healing. The idea of putting something in the wound creating pus, which infects
the wound is the way the ancient Egyptians medicine practiced. Epidemics killed thousands as well
meaning doctors choose to infect the wounds of their patients. The doctors that have listened to the
biblical health rules prevented the spread of infection and epidemics. Leprosy killed millions and
spread terror throughout the medieval days. While doctors had not a clue as to how this epidemic
started or how to treat it, the church leadership abided by the instructions of Moses, given to him by
God. A person with leprosy was to live outside the camp away from people, not because he was being
punished, but to keep the spreading of the disease to the people. Norway had an epidemic in the late
1700s. they did not understand that the disease spread, and it became out of control, until Norway
acted on the biblical rules to separate the diseased people. God promised His people that if they
listened to His rules, He would not put none of these diseases upon them. ... Show more content on

In Grandview Boulevard, completed in 1974 CE, the artist utilizes painterly brushstrokes. The
shadows of the trees that are painted dark purple appear to have more painterly aspects than the rest of
the composition. From far away, the painting seems smooth and sleek, but up close, the individual
thick brushstrokes can be seen. The implied texture of the leaves in the painting is sturdy and prickly,
and the texture of the yellowed grass appears to be dry and coarse, however, the actual texture of the
painting itself is smooth. The artist also uses both curvilinear and geometric lines. In looking at the
trees in the painting, they are composed of primarily geometric lines (excluding the leafy top) that run

The tree on the bottom right of the painting demonstrates modeling, which is the contrast between
light and shadow in a work. The shading on the left side of the tree is darker than the right side of the
tree. The tree s local color (true color) is a light tan (bark of the tree) in comparison to its perceptual
color (implied), which is a darker gray/brown. The painting demonstrates diminution of scale, for the
long palm trees at the top of the composition appear smaller than the long palm trees placed lower on
the page. Not only does the artist use diminution of scale, but they also use vertical location. The
bushier palm trees n the back left side of the composition all appear to be the same size, but because
some are placed higher on the page, they appear to be further away than the ones placed lower on the
page. The artist use of overlapping helps achieve perception of depth. By overlapping the trees it
makes it look like the painting has much more depth. Because of all of this, the painting portrays deep
depth, not only because of the multiple overlapping and diminution of scale, but also because of the
multiple horizon lines, causing the painting to look like the road goes on over the hills. This painting
is a narrative, and its focal point is down the road. As the roads begin large and gets smaller, the eyes
follow the road until it ends. The artist uses both thick and thin lines in

Essay on The Hiking Trail of American Fork Canyon
The hiking trail begins with a pile of loose rocks, a talus slope, thanks to rocks that fall down one of
the walls of the American Fork Canyon. The walls of the American Fork Canyon were widened by
erosion. Many of the rocks are cracked. This is caused by the presence of vegetation. The trees and
other plants that grow in the rocky area dig their roots down deep into the rocks, causing cracking.
This is known as physical organic weathering. The valley of the American Fork Canyon has a V shape
when viewed from a distance. This is indicative of its age, meaning it is young and was never covered
over in ice, or glaciated. If this had occurred, the valley would have a U shape instead, and it would
mean that the valley is older. The tunnel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that the fault is created by angular fragments of rock caused by movement along the fault.
There are three caves, the Hansen cave, the Middle Cave, and the Timpanogos cave. There is a fault
line located right at the entrance of the Middle Cave. The minerals found most commonly in caves
everywhere are carbonite minerals, two of which, calcite and aragonite, are the two found in these
caves. Inside the caves, there are many different formations. There are 43 recorded formations, or
speleothems. One example is the stalactites found in Hansen cave that are 77 years old. Another
example is of the many helictites that have formed in Timpanogos cave. Helictites form from the
pulling of water through pores in the coverings of the walls. Calcite forms around the tiny openings
and water continues to fall through the straw like structure, which continues to form in the direction
the water is falling. Branches are formed on the helictites when a passage through one way closes or
clogs and the water is forced to find another exit. There is an area that is called Father Time s Jewel

The Biblical Worldview Of A Worldview
A worldview is a compilation of one s belief that will help determine how one will react and
communicate based on new ideas, issues, disagreements, and in general, life s challenges; it is what
one relies on in order to answer those tough questions in relation to today s issues. A worldview will
determine how you look at any situation, from abortion, religion, gay marriage or to more mundane
issues, it is that innate belief that you have formulated in your life that will determine those outcomes
and how others will possibly perceive you to be. Word Count: 93 words Part II The biblical worldview
of our Origin started with God; He created our world, and all that exists within it, everything within
six days (Gen.1.1). God created man in His own likeness on the fifth day, out of dust, Adam was
made; Out of Adam s rib, woman was created (Gen.1.27, Gen.2.7). God is the great creator, He has
always been and always will be. Unlike theories that try to explain creation in just being a whimsical
roll of the dice, that somehow from a Big Bang explosion, life simply emerging cannot be; the
complexity of all of creation could not be something that just happened by luck. A master designer can
be the only explanation to explain how this beautiful, complex world came to be in all of its glory and
richness, down to the most specific detail, as well as how man was created from nothing. Man, unlike
all other animals, was the only one created in God s image. He gave man authority over all

A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid, she describes Antigua as a place of prioritizing the foreigners and
the white people. Regrettably, the country has been designed to become a tourist attraction over the

Antigua can be summed up by the unrepaired library, the past social and cultural interaction of the

Observably, the disorder mostly treated and cured by the traditional medicine in the culture. Cultural
bound syndromes can either cause somatic complains, or can be simply behavioral with no connection
to any effect on the body parts. On the other hand, researchers may choose to suggest that cultural
based syndromes represent behaviors that may be acceptable in certain regions (Wilkinson 2000).
Conversely, this disorders maybe highly disregarded in other areas. Ataque De Nervios Ataque De
Nervios is an example of cultural bound syndrome among the Hispanics. Illustratively, the disorder is
characterized by crying hysterically, rickety, out of control shouting, physical and verbal violence, and
an extreme high temperature in the chest. Ostensibly, the disorder is said to be as result of attacks by
evil spirits and demonic visitations. In essence, the symptoms are associated with stressful events such
as the death of a loved one, a traumatic experience involving a loved one, divorce, or separation of in
a marriage union. In this regard, this syndrome is only unique among the Hispanics, in other regions it
may be viewed as a normal way of venting out anger. The Diathesis Stress Model In principle, this
theory seeks to explain behavior as a predisposition vulnerability that is coupled up by experiences
that are stresses in life. The model takes consideration of the psychological, biological, and situational

In the beginning right after the bankruptcy filing in 2001 the FBI assigned two agents to investigate
and within weeks, they had a crew of 45, many were hand picked from field offices around the
country for their expertise in traversing even the most convoluted paper trails. In January 2002, agents
executed a consent search of Enron s corporate headquarters, and in February 2002, Enron s board of
directors issued findings from its own internal investigation. Financial analysts combed through
hundreds of bank and brokerage accounts and with what they found they secured restraining orders,
seizing more than $168 million in assets and supporting insider trading charges. Enron used many

information to shareholders, it emphasizes the need for internal controls. A few of the cons are: It is
costly; it results in increased audit cost. Here are how the sections are laid out. Section 302 requires
corporate management to certify that financial statements have been reviewed by them, and that those
statements are accurate and truthful. Section 401 requires financial information to include disclosures
on any relevant off balance sheet obligations that may exist. Section 404 requires management to
indicate whether or not the internal control procedures of the company are sufficient and effective.
That said, this has costly implications for companies that are publicly traded as it requires lots of
resources to establish and maintain the internal controls required by the law. Small companies are
being disproportionately burdened because auditors are not tailoring their procedures to the client.
Section 409 requires management to update the public when significant financial matters when they
happen rather than wait for the quarterly or annual report to do so. Section 802 imposes penalties for
violations of SOX rules, which include fines or time spent in jail. Section 1107 Is the probation

COMPARE SALES AND EPS GROWTH TO THE SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR: [FAIL]
Companies must demonstrate both revenue and net income growth of at least 25% as compared to the
prior year. These growth rates give you the dynamic companies that you are looking for. These rates
for NBS ( 14.29% for EPS, and 103.21% for Sales) are not good enough to pass. INSIDER
HOLDINGS: [PASS] NBS s insiders should own at least 10% (they own 16.35% ) of the company s
outstanding shares which is the minimum required. A high percentage typically indicates that the
insiders are confident that the company will do well. CASH FLOW FROM OPERATIONS: [FAIL] A
positive cash flow is typically used for internal expansion, acquisitions, dividend payments, etc. A
company that generates rather than consumes cash is in much better shape to fund such activities on
their own, rather than needing to borrow funds to do so. NBS s free cash flow of $ 0.49 per share fails
this test. PROFIT MARGIN CONSISTENCY: [FAIL] The profit margin in the past must be
consistently increasing. The profit margin of NBS has been inconsistent in the past three years
(Current year: 63.93%, Last year: 33.39%, Two years ago: 226.38%), which is unacceptable. This
inconsistency will carryover directly to the company s bottom line, or earnings per share. R amp;D AS

Relationship Between Stakeholders And Stakeholders
In the modern era of marketing, brand management has proved its importance by being a widely
discussed topic. While brand value was primarily connected with customers only, its importance into
non customer areas has been acknowledged. Brand equity and brand value are argued on their relation
with relevant stakeholders. In this assignment I am reflecting on the importance of managing these
stakeholder relationships.
Stakeholder management has been recognised as a central part of an organisation s effectiveness.
Stakeholders play important roles as advocates, sponsors, partners and agents of change. Much has
been written about stakeholder relationships in the private sector and many companies now have
dedicated relationship managers and strategies in place to improve and develop external relationships.
However, stakeholder management in the brand management still lags some way behind (Ipsos 2009).
Building a successful brand is effective if brand value is generated. Through the relationship
performance between the relevant stakeholders and the brand, brand value can be created. Jones
(2005) suggests, that one should acknowledge two key points while accessing the stakeholders:
1. Network of relationships / dependency upon multiple stakeholders,
2. Value assessment on the basis of each individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reputations are crucial. While they are hard to win, they are equally easily lost. Understanding
stakeholders helps to build stable relationships and, ultimately, to accomplish your objectives (Ipsos

consumers to listen and follow companies. This is clearly demonstrated by well known companies that
create strong reputations based on clear values and cultures: innocent drinks, Coca Cola and Toyota, to

Similarities Between Kfc And Mcdonalds
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of the following report is to compare the contribution towards social responsibility of two
competing fast food franchises in South Africa, namely KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and
McDonald s.
This comparative study will give insight into background information concerning the two franchises:
how they were formed, their mission, their vision, as well as their objectives. The background
information will then be followed by a comparative study of how both franchises contribute towards
social responsibility in the form of charity contributions, scholarships and sport sponsorship.
The Companies Act has been incorporated with sections of the King Code to form what is known as
integrated reporting. It stipulates that in order for a business to be successful, it must understand the
economic, social and environmental context it operates in. Nowadays, company success is not solely
based the amount of profit earned, but it includes how the business contributes in society, a term
known as corporate citizenship. This study will evaluate the corporate citizenship of both franchises to
compare their fairness, transparency, responsibility and accountability when dealing with society as a
whole. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What is right and what is wrong? People around the world have different opinions on this issue, and

The Ethics Of Medical Appointments
Today the Army is an organization that closely manages every penny spent to avoid what it considers
wasteful spending on inefficient practices. Across the board, within the scope of Army activities exist
many practices that are wasteful and take money from other areas of necessity. Medical treatment by
way of medical appointments is one such process that has had to undergo a shift in practice as medical
appointment failures have risen during intense budget constraints. As an Army major command
(MACOM), the medical command has worked to convey that all sites where medical facilities exist
are all echoing the same message across the board to change the mentality towards missing
appointments. With the MEDCOM looking to adjust it own practices across its own enterprise, the
command is also looking to spread the message to supported MACOM with the intent of spreading an
understanding that Corps leaders must update policy and implement control measures including
strategic messaging that stops wasting over $ 4 million in missed appointments while simultaneously
prioritizing mission accomplishment and continuity of care. Residual cost and missed appointments.
Service members view medical appointments as an opportunistic benefit for their status with the
armed forces. More specifically, it was a benefit that for many years has been taken advantage of only
in the fact that if the service member or family member was not able to make it they simply just did

Having a high GDP per capita means that there is current growth in the economy and tends to translate

unemployment rate in Canada is higher than Australia s by 0.4%. This will be beneficial to Penton

Homage To My Hips Analysis
Black women have played a vital role in society for centuries but rarely get credit for their actions.
Dating back to Ancient Africa, there were African queens like Amina, Hatshepsut, Makeda, and
Nefertiti who led their countries, combatted in war, left legacies with their kingdom, and most can
only be remembered for their looks as if their hard work were irrelevant. In the 19th century, there
were influential black women like Harriet Tubman, Ida B. Wells, Sojourner Truth, Mary McCloud
Bethune, and many more who helped fight the injustices of racism done unto their families
communities whether it was up to them freeing slaves, participating in marches and protests, or using
their knowledge to help educate the generation below them; the majority of society during that time
could not get over the fact that they were black women. Black women aren t supposed to be more than
their appearance.

is shampoo. The key players in this industry are P G, Unilever, Marico and Dabur that account for
52% of the market share (Hair Care in India, 2015).
The hair care market s growth rate in the United States is increasing with a much lower growth rate
than Indian. Another key difference is that the key product segments are different in both countries.
But the leading companies are the same in the Unites States and in India; they both have P G and
Unilever as two main players in the hair care industry.
Demand Drivers
Some of the factors that drive the industry in the Unites States are an increasing hair related problems
among consumers, new hair care products innovations and increasing demand for natural and organic
hair care products. This change has occurred because of consumers increased awareness about the
negative effects of harsh substances and chemicals.
The factors that drive the hair care industry in India are increased pollution and health issues.
Consumers become more aware about hair loss, damaged hair and other hair related issues. Also,
emerging economy, improvement in living standards and rising hygiene awareness help to drive the
growth of hair care industry because consumers are more willing to spend extra money in order to get
better products for their hair.

My Experience With My Family Trips
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better was an outlook I found within
my research for this trip (Einstein). Family trips are always an interesting experience and sometimes
hard to understand. Between the arguing and stress of packing, my family finds a way to get on the
road quite often. However, the next trip planned arose a new level of anxiety. Until this trip, I have
never traveled to a place far from society and slept within the pure darkness of the night. The
adrenaline rush of hunting to find a safe space for shelter, hanging a bear bag, and climbing the cliffs
of Red River Gorge was an experience I did not expect; however, my father, brother, two other family

Spring break came faster than I imagined, and we were soon on the road to nowhere. The trip became
more nerve racking as we made our last stop with civilization at the park ranger s office. The ranger
was very hopeful that we would not run into too many issues within our trip, however, I was not. He
made it clear that we must take all bear precautions, even though he attempted to convince us there
were no bears in the area. He also made it clear we must find high ground for camp due to weather
concerns. Listening to his safety speech made me regret committing to this adventure.
After gathering our packs and a map from the office, we approached the first trail. My shoes were tied,
my pack was on securely, and I realized what we were actually about to do. The first couple of miles
seemed easy because the trail was wide and the elevation was only increasing slowly. By the fourth
mile, the trip began to change. My ten year old brother and his friend became tired and the elevation
was dramatically increasing. The small wide hills became steep, narrow rocks. Scott took the lead to
find safe footwork. This is when I regretted the forty pound backpack. Using Scott s hand and a tree
limb I pulled myself up an almost four foot tall rock and then another. I turned around to look back at
the rest of the group and realized I was only a couple inches away from falling off an eighteen foot
drop.

Differentiating Between Market Structures Essay
Markets are different, without these different markets there would not be any structure. Being able to
understand different markets and its language, like demand, supply, average variable cost and
marginal costs we can better prepare for economic and financial future. The market structure and the
interaction that occurs can be defined by the number of businesses, and barriers new firms have when
entering a particular market. Perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic and oligopoly are four
forms of market structures recognized by economists.
Compare and Contrast

The cost of having a firm such as water and power is so high that it is not profitable to build another
firm to compete. Typically natural monopolies are utilities, which are regulated by the government to
prevent them from exploiting with high prices. Natural monopoly should not be compared to
Monopoly, as monopolies are normally short lived due to the technological advances developing
competition for an industry. (n/a, June 6, 2005, 2/5).
Common recourses, simply includes objects that everyone can use. Example: nature like air, and roads
where we drive on and or walk on. These common resources can be goods or services that people
contribute to the cost of the production by taxation that affects the value of land. Nature can provide
us all the basics such as trees that mankind can use to make furniture, boats and, many other useful
products. These natural resources can create labor, tools, and the cost of the product that brings profit
and increases the economy by the circular of human efforts by labor and sales of a finished product.
Other examples of common recourses are irrigation systems, fishing grounds, pastures, forests, water,
and the atmosphere (Acheson, 1988, 1/3).
Public goods are the non exclusive that represents a type of service that is available to public such as

Western Influence In The Film Chilsu And Mansu
After watching Chilsu and Mansu (1988), the first thing that I ve noticed apart from this film being in

relative modern. The film main female character Jina worked at Burger King (American

affluent class. In the film, Chilsu and Mansu were both working class men in the painting industry.
They would paint buildings and billboards. Unfortunately, their job wasn t stable and they would have
difficulty finding work. Throughout the film, Chilsu seems to never have any money and Mansu and
his living situation was not the best. I felt that Chilsu was aspiring to be apart of the affluent class. He
essentially was living a double life. When he was with Jina he was an art student that was going to
America to study continue his art studies. He would spend money that he didn t have on taking Jina to
the movies, club, etc. When Chilsu was with Mansu, he was a painting assistant that never has money.
In one scene, Chilsu needed to go pee while working and he happened to see Jina and her mother
shopping. When they were looking at jewelry, he envisions himself in a suit introducing himself to
Jina s mother. In reality, he didn t go in to the jewelry store and when a man asks him what he was
doing there he just ran off. Towards the end of the film, Chilsu and Mansu went on top of the billboard
to vent at their frustration about being in the working class. The social realism of this film is worth
discussing. This film highlights the struggles that the working classes had to go through. It showed the

She displayed the meaning of modern to other people, and mocked those old fogies, defenders of older
order now locked away behind the shelves.
Just this short poem caused much discussion, and the people s opinions are definitely opposite.
1. Some think that the poem fully demonstrates the impact of the woman s presence in the modern
society. It shows the confidence of the new profound woman and how the older generation, or her
aunts , reacted to the new movement.
2. Others think that Nancy s liberation and rebellion just a kind of superficial and ironical one. The
poem presents an ironic portrait of a liberated new woman whose modern attitudes are expressed in
trivial actions. And the final line of the poem: the army of unalterable law indicates nothing will
change, the faith, though locked in the shelves, will never be destroyed, or lost. It will be kept well

poem.

The United States Health Care Policy
Introduction
Every nation holds multitudes of health care policy facing debate. Analyzing the strengths and
weaknesses of other countries could benefit the United States of America to create improvements. For
decades, the right to health care in the United States has fueled public debates and social conversation.
Should we implement the right similar to European policies? The United States struggles in agreement
to start making changes, but we can develop plans from successes seen in Italy. Italy has achieved cost
containment and patient coverage, which are two of the largest struggles within the United States
health care system. This paper will outline Italian structure and policies to aid in the process of
formulating a plan for positive changes by describing the following: finances and structure of Italian
health care, disparities seen within Italian health care offered, the overall structure of the United States
health care system and conclusion of suggestions to better our health care system.
Italian Financial and Organization of Health care
Italian health care, Servizio Sanitario Nazional (SSN), provides universal coverage to all citizens and
immigrants if government forms are completed entirely showing financial need or previous payment
towards a European Union health care system; although, undocumented immigrants desiring health
care resources need to understand where and how to fill out forms in Italian just for medical cards for
general practitioner access.

The Science Of Social Psychology
If you put good apples into a bad situation, you ll get bad apples , said Philip G. Zimbardo, a
prominent researcher of the field of social psychology. What is social psychology, you might ask? In
short, it represents and defines an individual s actions when the said individual is placed in a social
situation. It also defines how you choose to act, often subconsciously, in the face of others. The
science of social psychology is a youthful one, it s existence barely a century old. However, it is with
it s existence that we are able to decipher topics such as conformity, independence, and identity on a
logical basis. We use it, to a degree, to study how every group has an impact on a singular entity, as
well as how those impacts end up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His theories were tested in his famous line test experiments, where a participant, placed last in a row
of other participants (actors) were to choose the correct corresponding line for a set of lines. However,
all the actors were instructed to answer incorrectly, leading the participants to conform, on average,
about one third (32%) (Asch 1 70) of the time in the complete trials. In addition, the varying cases
monitored had shown that 75% of the participants had conformed at least once (McLeod) during the
duration of their tests. The majority of the subjects felt that their judgement was clouded, or, more
surprisingly, knew that the group was incorrect yet went with the flow to avoid conflict. The real
world impacts of this trial are massive: By placing individuals in groups, there bears the risk of
conformity overtaking the free will of the group through the want of the individual to fit in, known as
normative influence, or the clouding of their judgement through believing that the group has the better
answer, known as informational influence. This can have massive repercussions in group centric fields
such as politics, or affect the opinions of the members of a group during discussions. In addition, the
urge to fit in , often experienced by many teenagers, is attributed to the same effect. Conformity is a
powerful force, capable of weakening the strongest

The Consecution Of Christians In The Redemption Of Peter
The persecution of the Church affected a lot in the family life of Christians. Emperor Nero did the first
heinous persecution of Christians. In one of movies The redemption of Peter shows few glimpses of
this persecution. Families with children, women and old parents were sent to the unbelievable torture
containing loud and painful screams as being Christians, were heard being tortured but they did not
deny their faith. The Emperor says he wants to burn Christians, so he can have light for his garden;
Emperor s wife says, Kill them all! . In one of the prison s scene, soldier shares his concern with
another soldier while guarding prison that poor children did nothing wrong but are suffering with their
parents. Children were humiliated with their families. (P162 Macculcah): In third century, Perpetua
(martyr) embraced Christianity. She knew the result of it, will be death. Her father did his best not to
declare herself as Christian for the sake of his grey hair, for her son, brother and family. She asked her
father, do you see the vase, or whatever you want to call it, can you call it by another name than what
it is? He said, No, you can t. So, I cannot call myself anything other what I am a Christian. She
disobeyed her father. Her concern for her brother for whom she prayed in vision, her attachment for
her son and family was remarkable. She had a hard choice to be a martyr or a good mother. For the
sake of her faith she sacrificed her family life and later became a

Three Principal Meetings that Led to the Adoption of the Constitution of the United States There were
three principal meetings that led to the adoption of the Constitution of the United States, and only two
Virginians attended all three. The meetings were the Mount Vernon Conference of 1785, the Annapolis
Convention of 1786 and the Philadelphia Convention in 1787. James Madison was one attendee, and
he is well known as the Father of the Constitution and our fourth President. George Mason was the
other, yet his name does not spring to mind. Does George Mason deserve the accolade Founding
Father? This paper will explore the political life of Mason and attempt to answer the question
affirmatively. Before exploring Mason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This work by Mason is cited often in the literature, although the reason for its inclusion appears to be
his tirade renouncing the tradition of slavery. However, beyond a brief mention of the evils of slavery
in the opening paragraph, the true value of this document is the description of a scheme to avoid
Stamp Act taxation while retaining security in bonds and rents. This intricate plan was never
implemented as the Stamp Act was repealed shortly afterward. The British Parliament adopted the
Townshend Acts 1767, the colonies responded by adopting non importation associations, and George
Mason s hand was to be found in those documents. The Virginia Nonimportation Resolutions were
modeled after the original resolve of Philadelphia merchants. Scholars argue over whether this was the
sole work of Mason, or whether he merely served on the committee. Nevertheless, on April 5th, 1769,
George Washington forwarded copies of the Philadelphia resolution to George Mason. That same day,
George Mason dispatched his reply to Washington, expressing Mason s thoughts at implementation of
the plan. The important element of this exchange is that Mason was already in possession of the plan
when Washington forwarded duplicates. Mason explained that he was ...inclosing the Resolves of the

Big Black Good Man Analysis
In Big Black Good Man , the author, Richard Wright, describes how the good black man, Jim, is a
different man from the impression the porter, Olaf, has of him. Olaf thinks that Jim is a black,
suspicious, good for nothing, and dangerous man, while Jim is a very nice, gentle, and grateful man.
Jim is a black, six and a half foot tall sailor seeking a room from Olaf, a porter who is five feet seven
inches. On their first encounter, Olaf has a stereotypical notion about Jim because of his race and
stature. He does not want to give Jim a room. To Olaf, the man s intense skin tone and size is an insult
to him. Meanwhile, the big black good man seems to be a good man from the start. He is cordial in
their conversation, nice and trustworthy, and he answers politely. The black good man is a man of
trust, judging from him entrusting two thousand six hundred dollars in a stranger s hand without any
documentation. He is an amiable man, refusing to let Olaf carry his bag, because he believes it is too
heavy for him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He asks him how long he intends staying, evidently wanting to do away with him as soon as he can.
He proves his discrimination in every aspect of their encounter by referring to him as an inanimate
object, a thing, a wild or dangerous animal, and a giant that can be violent. Olaf also makes derogatory
statements that are extremely discriminating. Olaf s prejudice is also very obvious in the sense that he
has difficulty obliging his request for a woman companion. Olaf believes that no woman will be able
to handle Jim. So Olaf warned Lena, the prostitute, about Jim and how big he is, even questioning her
on her way home. Meanwhile Jim appears to be a kind and very gentle man. Otherwise Lena would
not have seen him for those 6 days. Jim and Lena even continued their relationship by writing to each
other, and Jim even learns where she lives on his second

Summary Of O Clock On A September Morning Chen
At seven o clock on a September morning Chen was preparing to go home from Mr. Choy s factory.
He worked there as a night shift guardian. Chen was waiting for his fellow to leave the job to him
when suddenly he heard heavy footsteps of a young man. He chased the sound to the Mr. Choy s
office and hided himself behind the wall. The man stopped near Dionaea muscipula. It was a kind of
dangerous carnivorous flowers. Mr. Choy always gave him a fly or a worm four times a month. No
one ever dare to even stay near it. But the flower seemed calm when the man touched it. The man
snatched the key from under the flowerpot and opened the office door. He deciphered the strongbox
and took a bunch of money from inside it and ran away. Chen saw everything. He even recognized the
face of the thief. It was Bolin, Mr. Choy s son. On the way back home, Chen tried not to think about
that terrible event that has happened in front of his eyes, but instead he thought about the length of the
road, moaned and felt sleep at the rear seat of the taxi.

Dad, will you buy me a bicycle? asked Kang. Yeah, I will, answered Chen moodily.

A Brief History Of Pole Vault
Background
A Brief History of Pole Vault Pole vaulting has been around since the time of the ancient Greeks.
Poles were made of solid wood and used to vault over obstacles such as marshes, trenches and even
walls. [1] It wasn t until around 1850 that a running form of pole vault competition emerged from
Germany. The United States saw pole vaulting just before the beginning of the 20th century. Women s
pole vault began in the olympics around the year 2000. [2] Now, poles are made of fiberglass or
carbon fiber materials which allow for a greater bend than wood or metal. [3] The better materials also
allow for what vaulters call a fling off the top of the pole which adds some height to the vault.

h = [(½)V2]/g
Theoretical Analysis
Speed
Using this simplified equation, we can calculate the highest potential height for some elite vaulters
such as Sergey Bubka. Bubka held the world record at 6.14 meters for quite some time before it was
broken by Renaud Lavillenie. Bubka was recorded coming down the runway at 9.9m/s just before take
off. If put into the equation, we get
h = [(½)(9.92)]/9.8 h = 5
At this point, you start looking for errors because clearly Bubka jumped over a meter higher than his
highest potential height. This equation is correct, it is just the way we look at the answer that is wrong.
We are measuring from the center of gravity of the vaulter, not the feet. Therefore, the highest
potential height for Bubka is around 6 meters because he is 6 feet tall putting his center of gravity
around 1 meter from the ground. There is some potential energy that is stored in the vaulters muscles,
this will be examined next.
To avoid further confusion, the modified equation
h = ([(½)V2]/g) + C
Will be used with C equal to the height of the center of gravity of the vaulter in meters.
Now for Bubka we have
h = ([(½)(9.92)]/9.8) + 1
This gives us almost exactly 6 meters. Still, Bubka jumped 14 centimeters higher than the highest
potential height that this equation gave us. This is due to the push off at the top of the jump. The
highest push off the top of the pole

In Love with and Dependent on Technology Essay examples
In Love with Technology
When taking a closer look at really how dependent we, as a general society, are so in love with our
technology and in reality how scary it is how much we use this tool to run almost every aspect of our
lives. I feel that I could not go out anywhere, even right now, not find some direct correlation of
technology influencing my path from A to B. In no sense am I a extremist believing that technology is
the devil and will ultimately lead us to our downfall, but I can open my eyes every once and a while
and truly see how much of our world is governed by these great innovations. I know that it may sound
a little hypocritical, I am writing this paper on my new laptop, in a wireless room, and when finished
will send ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It really seems that this is the mind set of everyone who has ever owned some piece of technology that
has truly enhanced their life. This to me is sad that someone can let something so small and so not
worth it, in the grand picture, control how they live out their existence they call life. I know that it is
harsh, but it is clear to me that if we do noting to divert from the part we are currently on then will
have to face that day where there are no more innovations, no more super super super computers to
rely on, and no more life as we once new it. I think that, not want that, but believe that it will take
some huge meltdown of the system to truly show how we are being controlled by something that we
created. There inevitably will be some glitch or some malfunction in some piece of hardware that will
show us how reliant we are and how wrong we were in putting a machine before human interest.
In my own life I have seen technology grow at a pace that is unmatched by anything else in history.
We have let this great thing influence everything from national security to human conversation. Don t
get me wrong, I think that the most of the innovations are for the better and will, in the long run, strive
to better our society. But, what I am hesitant about is that will there be a point where someone will say
enough is enough. Will future generations be able to make that distinction and drawn the line of no
more. On the path we are on now, I don t think that

  • 2. The Popularity Of Characteristics In Mary Rowlandson s... Captivity narratives are so popular because people find it more interesting to read something that is written in first person. Not only is it important that the narrative is in first person, but the writer is also describing all the events that occurred during their time in captivity, which is very emotional and people enjoy reading things because of that emotional appeal. Captivity is not something that most people want to experience, but people want to read about it so that they have a better understanding of what happens to these victims and even be able to sympathize for them, and maybe provide support for others who have recently been in captivity. I think that most people have a big enough heart to where if they read a captivity narrative, they would feel sympathy towards all people who have been victims of captivity. Most importantly, I believe that captivity narratives are popular and appealing to the reader because throughout the narrative it shows how the victim dealt with the situation, and how they were able to survive captivity until they were found. In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, all of these things are expressed, and she discusses her entire journey through captivity. One of the main things to take away from this narrative is the amount of faith that is portrayed throughout all the difficult times. Anyone who were to read this captivity narrative would recognize how important Rowlandson s faith was to her and her family; even though the Indians did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience ABSTRACT: Many philosophers have lost their enthusiasm for the concept of supervenience in the philosophy of mind. This is largely due to the fact that, as Jaegwon Kim has shown, familiar versions of supervenience describe relations of mere property covariation without capturing the idea of dependence. Since the dependence of the mental on the physical is a necessary requirement for even the weakest version of physicalism, it would seem that existing forms of supervenience cannot achieve that for which they were designed. My aim is to revive the concept of supervenience. I argue that if we construe supervenience along Davidsonian lines as a relation connecting predicates rather than properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In light of this, many have lost their enthusiasm for this idea. My goal in this paper is to renew our faith in supervenience. To do so, however, will not require the development of a new formulation of the concept; instead, it involves clearing up some misconceptions about an existing version of this relation. I refer to Davidson s original treatment of supervenience. Most have assumed that Davidson s brand of supervenience is equivalent to Kim s weak supervenience, which is too weak to express dependence. I will argue that Davidson s conception of supervenience is, despite certain formal similarities, quite different from Kim s and clearly captures a sense of psychophysical dependence that is of use to forms of physicalism. As I see it, the difference between Kim s approach and Davidson s lies in the items supervenience is thought to connect. Kim s formulations of supervenience connect properties, which he takes to be the ontological building blocks of events. In general then, Kim treats supervenience as a metaphysical thesis about the distribution of properties in possible worlds. By contrast, Davidson has little tolerance for the idea that events should be analyzed in terms of property exemplifications. Given Davidson s reluctance to endorse properties, he prefers to think of supervenience as a relation between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Voting Rights For Ex Felons Voting rights for ex felons It s said to be believed that ex felons never seem to have a change in their life after being released from prison, but the reality is that many ex felons have a drastic change in their lives after being released from prison. One major concern though that many ex felons have is that even if they change for the better many are still not having many of their rights restituted and one being their voting rights. According to a website called Newsmax more than 2 million African Americans, or close to 8 percent of black adults, aren t able to vote because of felony convictions compared to just under 2 percent of non African Americans. (Voting Rights: 6 Reasons Ex Felons Should Vote, 2015) Having more than 2 million African Americans not vote then causes there to be a major gap of ethnicities being represented on Election Day and to have many laws that will have a big impact on them to be voted into place. That s why many ex felons should have their voting rights restituted because it wouldn t only be African Americans not represented but many poor citizens would also not be represented on Election Day. This is why I m proposing a solution that would allow more ex felons to gain their voting rights much faster and with less hassle. This issue of allowing many ex felons to have their voting rights restituted should be on peoples mind because without their vote the rich would keep running this country. This issue has been effecting many ex felons that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Continuous Improvement Model I think also it goes to a different mindset, because typically those workers were working in an economy where they started when they were 20 and work until you are 60 years old in that job setting and I think that is one of the struggles and they thought this was their last job. I know I got re interviewed ten years ago, but I thought I was going ride this one until retirement. Now you have got twelve more years until retirement and you have to relook at stuff. Interviewer: Okay, so its crystal ball time. From your perspective and experience, how do you think the Employment Services sector will evolve over the next decade? Brian: Next decade, depending on what happens next Monday. Interviewer: Right. Brian: Depending on which crystal ball you are looking at, that will help. Those policy changes and I know unemployment is a potential issue, but the federal level money coming down obviously effects things. In the ninety there was more federal money coming down for programs than there is now. Crystal ball, I think the continuous improvement model is going to fortunately continue. They are looking to get people in and out as quickly as they can, which they should and I agree there are a lot of people who are not taking the right job bfit because of the pressure to get them working right away. ... • 6. Debunking the Goal Setting Theory Debunking the Goal Setting Theory Presented to Trudy Dunson, Instructor MGMT 2125, Performance Management By Andrea Smith 10/13/2014 Often times in the business world, organizations become so fixated on the goals they set, that when they begin to go wrong, an organization will invest more into that goal instead of looking for a different path. Oliver Burkeman s book, The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can t Stand Positive Thinking devotes a whole chapter to the importance or lack thereof of setting goals. Kayes observed even through this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However on the flip side these same traits used to create a positive environment can also be used to against the organization. We start with the letter S for specific as this commands that the goal to be focused and attentive. Unfortunately though, this can actually cause a too narrowed focus where employees will overlook important details of the task. With a narrowed focus, employees become blind to everything else but their task and the often times miss a critical detail that could potentially steer them into a new direction and a more profitable gain or prevent a fatal error from occurring. An example in this can be seen in the automotive industry of late and the entire vehicle recalls that have been made due to faulty engine or ignition parts that have caused human fatalities. The automotive industry giants have a specific goal to create a top of the line vehicle fast and get it out to the market that they continuously pass over safety issues and inspections in order to accomplish this single goal. In keeping with the classic notion that you get what you reward (Kerr, 1975, 1995), goal setting may cause the employee to miss important aspects of their task or performance that are not specifically outlined by the goal setting system. Next we move on to the M for measurable and the hazards that can arise from putting a measurable capacity on goals. Being able to measure progress is said to keep the employees on track and provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The current total population of the Algonquin tribe is 11000 people (The Canadian Encyclopedia, 2/11/16). In the early 1600 s the tribe claimed their territory over the eastern woodlands in the subarctic region; living on higher grounds caused climate restrictions. • 8. A Research Study On Human Breast Milk Human breast milk has being known to play a vital role in providing nutrition to babies. Human breast milk is a natural source of supply for the baby while producing enzymatic, immunologic, and hormonal elements to the baby (Kennaugh Lockhart Borman, 2011). During the early 20th century nearly all babies where fed either with maternal breast milk or donated breast milk. (THE HISTORY OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1) As time progressed on supplement feeding through the use of artificial milk became more popular then breast milk. Through history mothers have taken a huge interest in utilizing supplements of donor breast milk to feed their babies nutritious breast milk. When maternal milk is inadequate or lacking particularly for high risk or premature infants pasteurized donor milk is the next best option. Donor milk banking plays an important role in meeting these recommendations . (THE HISTORY OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1) Some history of how breast milk came about goes all the way back to a practice called wet nursing. It is a practice when children were either breastfed by their mothers or breast fed by friends, relatives or strangers. (THE HISTORY OF MILK BANKING, 2016, p. 1) In the 13th century, European women made more money working as wet nurses than any other occupation open to women. • 9. Similarities And Differences In The Book Of The Bible I chose to write about how to help someone understand the difference between books of the Bible, which was option two. I would first start the conversation by telling my colleague that the Bible is the whole story of God (Cartwright Hulshof, p. 3). To explain the differences between the books of the Bible, one must first grasp the difference between the Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament tells how the world came into existence, the fall of man into sin, the history of God s chosen people, and how God s chosen people would time and time again rebel against God and his law, but how God would deliver them from their enemies. The New Testament tells how God s plan of sending a Savior into the world to save humanity came to fruition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These books show both similarities and differences in the books of the Bible. The Gospels include Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Each book contains the crucifixion of Jesus, but from different people and different perspectives (Cartwright Hulshof, p. 18). Take for instance the part of the story where Jesus is hanging on the cross. Matthew tells how there was an earthquake happening and how the dead rose from the earth. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, Truly this was the Son of God (Matthew 27:52 54, NASB)! Mark tells how the veil was torn when Jesus took His final breath. And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed His last. And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. When the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said Truly this man was the Son of God (Mark 15:37 39, NASB)! The idea of putting something in the wound creating pus, which infects the wound is the way the ancient Egyptians medicine practiced. Epidemics killed thousands as well meaning doctors choose to infect the wounds of their patients. The doctors that have listened to the biblical health rules prevented the spread of infection and epidemics. Leprosy killed millions and spread terror throughout the medieval days. While doctors had not a clue as to how this epidemic started or how to treat it, the church leadership abided by the instructions of Moses, given to him by God. A person with leprosy was to live outside the camp away from people, not because he was being punished, but to keep the spreading of the disease to the people. Norway had an epidemic in the late 1700s. they did not understand that the disease spread, and it became out of control, until Norway acted on the biblical rules to separate the diseased people. The shadows of the trees that are painted dark purple appear to have more painterly aspects than the rest of the composition. From far away, the painting seems smooth and sleek, but up close, the individual thick brushstrokes can be seen. The implied texture of the leaves in the painting is sturdy and prickly, and the texture of the yellowed grass appears to be dry and coarse, however, the actual texture of the painting itself is smooth. The artist also uses both curvilinear and geometric lines. In looking at the trees in the painting, they are composed of primarily geometric lines (excluding the leafy top) that run in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tree on the bottom right of the painting demonstrates modeling, which is the contrast between light and shadow in a work. The shading on the left side of the tree is darker than the right side of the tree. The tree s local color (true color) is a light tan (bark of the tree) in comparison to its perceptual color (implied), which is a darker gray/brown. The painting demonstrates diminution of scale, for the long palm trees at the top of the composition appear smaller than the long palm trees placed lower on the page. Not only does the artist use diminution of scale, but they also use vertical location. The bushier palm trees n the back left side of the composition all appear to be the same size, but because some are placed higher on the page, they appear to be further away than the ones placed lower on the page. The artist use of overlapping helps achieve perception of depth. By overlapping the trees it makes it look like the painting has much more depth. Because of all of this, the painting portrays deep depth, not only because of the multiple overlapping and diminution of scale, but also because of the multiple horizon lines, causing the painting to look like the road goes on over the hills. This painting is a narrative, and its focal point is down the road. As the roads begin large and gets smaller, the eyes follow the road until it ends. The artist uses both thick and thin lines in ... Essay on The Hiking Trail of American Fork Canyon The hiking trail begins with a pile of loose rocks, a talus slope, thanks to rocks that fall down one of the walls of the American Fork Canyon. The walls of the American Fork Canyon were widened by erosion. Many of the rocks are cracked. This is caused by the presence of vegetation. The trees and other plants that grow in the rocky area dig their roots down deep into the rocks, causing cracking. This is known as physical organic weathering. The valley of the American Fork Canyon has a V shape when viewed from a distance. This is indicative of its age, meaning it is young and was never covered over in ice, or glaciated. • 13. The Biblical Worldview Of A Worldview A worldview is a compilation of one s belief that will help determine how one will react and communicate based on new ideas, issues, disagreements, and in general, life s challenges; it is what one relies on in order to answer those tough questions in relation to today s issues. A worldview will determine how you look at any situation, from abortion, religion, gay marriage or to more mundane issues, it is that innate belief that you have formulated in your life that will determine those outcomes and how others will possibly perceive you to be. Word Count: 93 words Part II The biblical worldview of our Origin started with God; He created our world, and all that exists within it, everything within six days (Gen.1.1). God created man in His own likeness on the fifth day, out of dust, Adam was made; Out of Adam s rib, woman was created (Gen.1.27, Gen.2.7). God is the great creator, He has always been and always will be. Unlike theories that try to explain creation in just being a whimsical roll of the dice, that somehow from a Big Bang explosion, life simply emerging cannot be; the complexity of all of creation could not be something that just happened by luck. A master designer can be the only explanation to explain how this beautiful, complex world came to be in all of its glory and richness, down to the most specific detail, as well as how man was created from nothing. While brand value was primarily connected with customers only, its importance into non customer areas has been acknowledged. Brand equity and brand value are argued on their relation with relevant stakeholders. In this assignment I am reflecting on the importance of managing these stakeholder relationships. Stakeholder management has been recognised as a central part of an organisation s effectiveness. Stakeholders play important roles as advocates, sponsors, partners and agents of change. Much has been written about stakeholder relationships in the private sector and many companies now have dedicated relationship managers and strategies in place to improve and develop external relationships. However, stakeholder management in the brand management still lags some way behind (Ipsos 2009). Building a successful brand is effective if brand value is generated. • 37. Western Influence In The Film Chilsu And Mansu After watching Chilsu and Mansu (1988), the first thing that I ve noticed apart from this film being in color was the economic development that took place in Seoul compared to the previous films that we have seen. The image of Seoul in this film was more recognizable to today. I also found this film to be relative modern. The film main female character Jina worked at Burger King (American establishment) and is a college student. I think she is the first female character that we ve seen in college and educated. There was also a lot of Western influence in this film. When Chilsu and Jina went to the movie, they went to see an American film. When they went to the club, there was American music playing in the background. Jina takes a contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... affluent class. In the film, Chilsu and Mansu were both working class men in the painting industry. They would paint buildings and billboards. Unfortunately, their job wasn t stable and they would have difficulty finding work. Throughout the film, Chilsu seems to never have any money and Mansu and his living situation was not the best. I felt that Chilsu was aspiring to be apart of the affluent class. He essentially was living a double life. When he was with Jina he was an art student that was going to America to study continue his art studies. He would spend money that he didn t have on taking Jina to the movies, club, etc. When Chilsu was with Mansu, he was a painting assistant that never has money. In one scene, Chilsu needed to go pee while working and he happened to see Jina and her mother shopping. When they were looking at jewelry, he envisions himself in a suit introducing himself to Jina s mother. In reality, he didn t go in to the jewelry store and when a man asks him what he was doing there he just ran off. Towards the end of the film, Chilsu and Mansu went on top of the billboard to vent at their frustration about being in the working class. The social realism of this film is worth discussing. This film highlights the struggles that the working classes had to go through. It showed the daily struggle on the common men in Korea in the 80 s with no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the poem The Seafarer by anonymous the speaker describes his struggles in a voyage on a sea. Revealing his holy faith towards Christianity, the speaker presents his voyage in the sea as a symbolism of the voyage towards God and heaven. Reflecting his voyage, the speaker also lectures the readers regarding the period of life, especially on the death. She displayed the meaning of modern to other people, and mocked those old fogies, defenders of older order now locked away behind the shelves. Just this short poem caused much discussion, and the people s opinions are definitely opposite. 1. Some think that the poem fully demonstrates the impact of the woman s presence in the modern society. It shows the confidence of the new profound woman and how the older generation, or her aunts , reacted to the new movement. 2. Others think that Nancy s liberation and rebellion just a kind of superficial and ironical one. The poem presents an ironic portrait of a liberated new woman whose modern attitudes are expressed in trivial actions. And the final line of the poem: the army of unalterable law indicates nothing will change, the faith, though locked in the shelves, will never be destroyed, or lost. It will be kept well and come down. That is the strength of tradition. Both of them sounds reasonable, now I will analyze these two, and give my own explanation to the poem. Analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of other countries could benefit the United States of America to create improvements. For decades, the right to health care in the United States has fueled public debates and social conversation. Should we implement the right similar to European policies? The United States struggles in agreement to start making changes, but we can develop plans from successes seen in Italy. Italy has achieved cost containment and patient coverage, which are two of the largest struggles within the United States health care system. This paper will outline Italian structure and policies to aid in the process of formulating a plan for positive changes by describing the following: finances and structure of Italian health care, disparities seen within Italian health care offered, the overall structure of the United States health care system and conclusion of suggestions to better our health care system. Italian Financial and Organization of Health care Italian health care, Servizio Sanitario Nazional (SSN), provides universal coverage to all citizens and immigrants if government forms are completed entirely showing financial need or previous payment towards a European Union health care system; although, undocumented immigrants desiring health care resources need to understand where and how to fill out forms in Italian just for medical cards for general practitioner access. ... What is social psychology, you might ask? In short, it represents and defines an individual s actions when the said individual is placed in a social situation. It also defines how you choose to act, often subconsciously, in the face of others. The science of social psychology is a youthful one, it s existence barely a century old. However, it is with it s existence that we are able to decipher topics such as conformity, independence, and identity on a logical basis. In addition, the varying cases monitored had shown that 75% of the participants had conformed at least once (McLeod) during the duration of their tests. The majority of the subjects felt that their judgement was clouded, or, more surprisingly, knew that the group was incorrect yet went with the flow to avoid conflict. The real world impacts of this trial are massive: By placing individuals in groups, there bears the risk of conformity overtaking the free will of the group through the want of the individual to fit in, known as normative influence, or the clouding of their judgement through believing that the group has the better answer, known as informational influence. This can have massive repercussions in group centric fields such as politics, or affect the opinions of the members of a group during discussions. In addition, the urge to fit in , often experienced by many teenagers, is attributed to the same effect. Conformity is a powerful force, capable of weakening the strongest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This work by Mason is cited often in the literature, although the reason for its inclusion appears to be his tirade renouncing the tradition of slavery. However, beyond a brief mention of the evils of slavery in the opening paragraph, the true value of this document is the description of a scheme to avoid Stamp Act taxation while retaining security in bonds and rents. This intricate plan was never implemented as the Stamp Act was repealed shortly afterward. The British Parliament adopted the Townshend Acts 1767, the colonies responded by adopting non importation associations, and George Mason s hand was to be found in those documents. The Virginia Nonimportation Resolutions were modeled after the original resolve of Philadelphia merchants. Scholars argue over whether this was the sole work of Mason, or whether he merely served on the committee. Nevertheless, on April 5th, 1769, George Washington forwarded copies of the Philadelphia resolution to George Mason. That same day, George Mason dispatched his reply to Washington, expressing Mason s thoughts at implementation of the plan. The important element of this exchange is that Mason was already in possession of the plan when Washington forwarded duplicates. Mason explained that he was ...inclosing the Resolves of the ... Olaf thinks that Jim is a black, suspicious, good for nothing, and dangerous man, while Jim is a very nice, gentle, and grateful man. Jim is a black, six and a half foot tall sailor seeking a room from Olaf, a porter who is five feet seven inches. On their first encounter, Olaf has a stereotypical notion about Jim because of his race and stature. He does not want to give Jim a room. To Olaf, the man s intense skin tone and size is an insult to him. Meanwhile, the big black good man seems to be a good man from the start. He is cordial in their conversation, nice and trustworthy, and he answers politely. The black good man is a man of trust, judging from him entrusting two thousand six hundred dollars in a stranger s hand without any documentation. • 47. A Brief History Of Pole Vault Background A Brief History of Pole Vault Pole vaulting has been around since the time of the ancient Greeks. Poles were made of solid wood and used to vault over obstacles such as marshes, trenches and even walls. [1] It wasn t until around 1850 that a running form of pole vault competition emerged from Germany. The United States saw pole vaulting just before the beginning of the 20th century. Women s pole vault began in the olympics around the year 2000. [2] Now, poles are made of fiberglass or carbon fiber materials which allow for a greater bend than wood or metal. [3] The better materials also allow for what vaulters call a fling off the top of the pole which adds some height to the vault. Basic Physics Of Pole Vault The most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... h = [(½)V2]/g Theoretical Analysis Speed Using this simplified equation, we can calculate the highest potential height for some elite vaulters such as Sergey Bubka. Bubka held the world record at 6.14 meters for quite some time before it was broken by Renaud Lavillenie. Bubka was recorded coming down the runway at 9.9m/s just before take off. If put into the equation, we get h = [(½)(9.92)]/9.8 h = 5 At this point, you start looking for errors because clearly Bubka jumped over a meter higher than his highest potential height. This equation is correct, it is just the way we look at the answer that is wrong. We are measuring from the center of gravity of the vaulter, not the feet. Therefore, the highest potential height for Bubka is around 6 meters because he is 6 feet tall putting his center of gravity around 1 meter from the ground. There is some potential energy that is stored in the vaulters muscles, this will be examined next. To avoid further confusion, the modified equation h = ([(½)V2]/g) + C Will be used with C equal to the height of the center of gravity of the vaulter in meters. Now for Bubka we have h = ([(½)(9.92)]/9.8) + 1 This gives us almost exactly 6 meters. Still, Bubka jumped 14 centimeters higher than the highest

I know that it is harsh, but it is clear to me that if we do noting to divert from the part we are currently on then will have to face that day where there are no more innovations, no more super super super computers to rely on, and no more life as we once new it. I think that, not want that, but believe that it will take some huge meltdown of the system to truly show how we are being controlled by something that we created. There inevitably will be some glitch or some malfunction in some piece of hardware that will show us how reliant we are and how wrong we were in putting a machine before human interest.
