Persuasion
Persuasion Austen s Canonical Final Words
You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious
feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you
almost broke it, eight years and a half ago... I have loved none but you.
― Jane Austen, Persuasion
It s a love story. A fairy tale ending, a quintessential marriage, and a happily ever after substantiates
this fact. So how is Jane Austen s last written novel, Persuasion, any different to the typical, cliché
romance? The secret lies in the pain of the journey. At the age of twenty seven, Anne Elliot; a
mediocre maiden mistreated by those closest to her, lost the bloom of youth and more importantly, the
love of her life. Eight years had passed since she was persuaded by her narcissistic family to terminate
her engagement to Frederick Wentworth, a gallant naval captain born of low social status and
insufficient wealth. When they meet again, both have changed significantly. But amidst flirtatious
distractions and unexpected misadventures, the pair cannot deny the conjoined heartache and love
they felt exclusively for each other, despite the misfortunes of life.
Persuasion, written by Austen in her final days and published in 1817, is a novel possessing a
timelessness and raw nature which reflects early 19th century Britain in a way that resonates with
current modernistic society, thus justifying its inclusion in the Literary Canon.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Co-Operations Between Hong...
Introduction
There are more and more co operations between Hong Kong and Mainland China firms since The
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government signed Mainland and Hong Kong Closer
Economic Partnership Arrangement in 2003. In this report, we will talk about a Hong Kong based
company, 3 Hong Kong Limited which is a Hong Kong telecommunication service supplier, what
business opportunities it has in Mainland China under CEPA. Also, we will recommend it to co
operate with China Telecom Global Limited, a telecommunication service supplier in China. Besides,
we will measure some obstructions within human resource aspect when they co operate with each
other.

The New York Islanders Finished The 2016-17 Season On The...
The New York Islanders finished the 2016 17 season on the heels of a six game winning streak which
included wins over four teams that would not be advancing to the Stanley Cup playoffs. In the end, it
wasn t enough to continue their modest two season playoff streak. An ugly first quarter, marked by
questionable defensive coverage, poor transition play, a powerless play and questionable management
decisions will have them watching 16 teams compete for the ultimate prize from their living rooms.
The fact that their 94 points is just two shy of the NHL record for most while missing the postseason
(2014 15 Bruins had 96, 2006 07 Avalanche and 2010 11 Stars had 95) is no consolation, especially to
the captain. Overall, as a team, it s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also led the team in power play goals, game winning goals and shooting percentage. It s the sixth
best single season franchise goal total in the 2000s. Look beyond meager scoring totals (9 15 24 in 66
games) to appreciate how good a season 19 year old rookie Anthony Beauvillier had. Buried in Jack
Capuano s anti youth movement earlier in the year with sporadic appearances, it wasn t until Doug
Weight took over and gave the rookie consistent playing time that he began to shine at both ends of
the rink. If the organization sees him as a Frans Nielsen replacement, he s off to a pretty good start.
Joshua Ho Sang came in and energized the entire offense with his creativity and flair, not to mention
offering an alternative to Nick Leddy when it comes to breaking the offensive zone with speed. Some
of his passes were sublime and while he definitely needs to become a more complete, mature player in
terms of his decision making, this could be the big gamble that pays off in a huge way. Credit to the

Child Independence Research Paper
Independence
As a child, one does not make decisions for oneself. Parents shape the lives of their children into the
person they want their child to become. They put their children into the sports, activities, and hobbies
that they think will take their children down a successful path. Then the time comes when their child
needs to start making decisions on their own. Although the children are not independent adults yet,
this time is a huge part of their transformation from sheltered childhood into independent adulthood.
Growing up, my parents had me in every sport and activity possible. Soccer, dance, basketball,
softball, cheerleading, you name it. The older I got, the busier I got, causing me to drop all sports
except soccer. This sport

Marine Corps s Force System
Marine Online (MOL) is a computer based information system that is used throughout the Marine
Corps. In the Marine Corps, this system enables all military and some civilian personnel the capability
to access their electronic personal record which retrieves information from Marine Corps Total Force
System (MCTFS). According to Onley (2005), MCTFS is the only fully integrated personnel and pay
system supporting active and reserve forces within the Department of Defense (DOD) (p. 1). Due to
the sensitivity of the data that is entered in MOL, the Marine Corps is making all efforts to make sure

Effect Of A Single Dose Of Radiotherapy
Radiation is energy emitted from a source. It has the property to ionise when it has such a high energy,
that at the moment it interacts with an atom, it can remove tightly bound electrons from its orbit,
causing the atom to become charged (ionized).
The ionising effect of X rays allows them to damage the DNA in cells and divide cells in the body.
This property is used it the cancer treatment.
When a person has cancer, their cells divide uncontrollably because of changes in their DNA, forming
tumours: these are group of abnormal cells that form growths. Rapidly dividing cells are particularly
vulnerable to the effect of ionising radiation. By directing high energy X rays at the tumours, the
cancerous cells get deeply damaged. This cancer treatment is called radiotherapy.
The effect of a single dose of radiotherapy can lead the damaged cells to repair themselves, repair
incorrectly or die. Healthy cells subject to a dose may recover if given time. Radiotherapy is therefore
given in short bursts over a long period of time.
There are many subsets of radiotherapy including: the Superficial System: treats skin surface tumours
with energies of 50 150kV
MV systems for deep tumours (photons) and superficial skin/thyroid tumours (e s) at 22Mev
Linear Accelerators (Linacs) are used to deliver X rays to a patient. They are designed to deliver
multiple beams at once. The combined beam needs to focus on tumours and avoid healthy tissue.

Horse Power Farm Video Analysis
The three videos I choose to watch were Horse Power Farm, Lakeside Orchards, and Ayotte Farm.
Horse Power Farm is located in Penobscot, Maine and owned by Paul Birdsall. The distinguishing
features are on the farm s focus for producing vegetables and timber, and relying on their horses
instead of machinery. Paul s farm is specifically a mixed practice as they do have a tractor, but draft
horses are the key component. Another unique aspect of this farm is that as Paul said, training
apprentices is the most important thing they do. Without the apprentices help, they are limited in the
amount of work they can get done. Lakeside Orchards is located in Kennebec County and is owned by
Steve and Marilyn Meyerhans. They also own The Apple Farm located in Fairfield, Maine. The
distinguishing features for these two farms are the apples and apple products produced. They also have
two farm stands, one of which is opened year round. Unlike the other two videos I watched, this
couple had no prior experience before buying Lakeside Orchards. The last ... Show more content on

This farm only produces potatoes, yielding roughly 350 400 weights per acre. Out of all the videos,
Scott seemed to use the most machinery to pick and harvest his produce. He explained they first
started out only using harvesters, but in order to become more efficient they began using special roller
machines. These are designed to sift the potatoes and transfer them to another row so the harvester is
able to pick up multiple rows at once. In addition, Ayotte Farm was unique in that they re involved in a
contract system. Because of this they mainly grow a certain type of potato for the french fry industry.
The benefit of this is a steady income without having to worry about market fluctuations. The
downfall is cost can vary and fluctuate in a short period of time when a contract is already set in place,
therefore the farm has to take the

Spirit Airlines Business Analysis
Spirit Airlines prides itself on being a, ultra low cost carrier, or ULCC meaning they provide the
customer with unbundled base fares along with other optional services that the customer may choose
from (Spirit). This organizational capability allows the company to compete with very little operating
costs; the average cost per available seat mile was 9.65 cents in 2014(Spirit). This means that Spirit
airlines must continue to operate effectively in order to keep costs as low as possible. One way they
achieve this is by only operating with the Airbus A320 family of aircraft, which greatly reduces the
cost of training multiple crews as well as making them interchangeable across the entire fleet (Spirit).
This family of planes are also fitted with high density seating, which helps maintain low cost by
seating more than major competitors, for example the A320s accommodate 178 passengers compared
to 150 on both United and JetBlue (Spirit).
Spirit Airlines has 65 Airbus planes in their fleet the average age for the fleet is 5.1 years, accordingly
maintenance costs have been lower than expected in the past and most likely Spirit Airlines will

It s one of the main focuses of Spirit Airlines as an organization and everything they do is geared
towards achieving that goal. The resources used in order to keep Spirit as a low cost airline are
limiting costs for amenities and increasing quality. Safety for both customers and employees is another
great concern that Spirit takes very seriously. Management has a large impact by being sure safety
standards and qualifications are being kept current. Finally, the organizing process used in continuing
with the low prices and customer satisfaction is keeping their fleet healthy by undergoing scheduled
maintenance as well as in house maintenance as

Reins From Above Thesis
Growing up did you ever feel like you had a calling? I have always known that I wanted to help
people but my true love for community service came at the young age of 9. No act of kindness, no
matter how small, is ever wasted. Aesop. Even though this statement is 100% true, I also believe there
are really no small acts of kindness. (Elaborate) I joined a group at my elementary school called
Mustang Mentors. One of the service projects I remember most was working with Reins from Above

travel expenses add up fast. We have a son with Cerebral Palsy who takes lessons with Mrs. Stacy at
Reins from Above. The money you donated has helped our son in more ways than you can imagine.

Measurables: 7 0 , 230 pounds Strengths: Lauri Markkanen is the epitome of today s NBA, he is your
prototypical stretch four with some impressive guard skills that should make for an intriguing
prospect. The appeal for Markkanen starts with his shooting, in his lone season at Arizona he shot an
impressive 42% from the three point line on 4.4 attempts per game, that combined with his 54%
conversion rate inside the three point line and you have a guy that has the potential to be an offensive
superstar. At Arizona he showed an impressive handle from the four spot and even at times played

He probably won t fall this low but Miami is the best team fit for Lauri, with Hassan Whiteside
grabbing every rebound you could hide him on the glass, and they have a plethora of guards and
forwards who can hide him defensively. A more realistic team, however, are the Kings and Hornets
both teams need scoring badly and Markkanen would be just what the doctor ordered. For the Kings
he would give them an offensive star to build around, and for the Hornets he will give Kemba Walker
a pick and roll partner that could finally give him adequate space to create offense for that

Correlation of Food and Human Survival in Two Cultures
The cliché that we eat to live embraces the fact that there is a strong positive correlation between food
and human survival. This brings to mind when a baby is born he or she has to depend on the breast
milk of the mother in order to survive. In the same manner all humanity needs food to stay healthy life
and strong all the time. The kind of food and the manner in which it is eating varies due to
geographical locations, cultural difference and climatic conditions. It is based on these reasons that the
comparison of diets are necessary. Comparing the Mediterranean diet to the West African diet, it is
superior in terms of nutritional value and inferior in terms of economic value (affordability) as well as
accessibility to the West African diet.
Mediterranean diet is not the term diet which is used to refer to a person who is restricted from eating
some kind of food due to health reasons. It is a life style adopted by a particular group of people living
in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. This lifestyle includes what to eat, how to eat and
the type of physical training they undergo to keep their bodies fit (Kathleon, MPH, RD LD). Some of
the Mediterranean diets include olive oil, fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and moderate amount of red
wine (Douaud, 2007). People who eat the Mediterranean diet follows its plan for it to work out
properly. The meditarranean diet pyramid is very useful when it comes to their meal plan. The

Dorothea Lange In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
Dorothea Lange was born on the 26th of May, in 1895, in New Jersey. When she was young, she
suffered from polio, a paralysis, which left her crippling for the rest of her life. More than once, Lange
stated that her condition made her more sensitive to the suffering of others, which was a fundamental

In August 1935, Roy Stryker offered Lange a job with Resettlement Administration, which she took

This financial disaster market the commence of the Great Depression, an era marked by poverty and
misery. William Faulkner managed to perfectly depict the consequences and negative effects, as he
portraited a poor family of the Mississippi.
The Great Depression led to the creation of New Deal created by President Franklin Roosevelt, which
was a series of economic policies, to provide relief for millions of Americans. In 1935, Lange was
offered a job in the Resettlement Administration, a New Deal U.S Federal agency, which she took

The similarities between the book As I Lay Dying and the photographs and work of Dorothea Lange

by portraying them in a poor family whose economic difficulties were notorious. In his novel, William

Lange used her techniques to photograph the reactions and feelings of those who were hit by the crash
of Wall Street, and consequently the Great Depression, which economically devastated a huge number

Decolonization in the Hawaiian Islands Essay
The people of Hawaii and other Pacific Island Nation groups have experienced great injustice from
their colonial powers and the acts of imperialism. Lands were seized, cultural practices banned,
language lost, and people were even forced to move away from their homes for the purpose of bomb
testing. The United States and other countries abroad sent out representatives to do their work for
them; in return their future actions would be justified in describing the Hawaiians and other Pacific
Islanders as savages that need to have wider powers enforced upon them; thus resulting in a tangled
web of political mythologies.
The first step in legitimizing the take over of an indigenous person was to make them less human. In

The Hawaiians were further depicted as thieves like the rest of the people in Polynesia, and plagued
with the barbaric accusation of committing infanticide. These so called facts were enough for the Euro
American forces to send out missionaries to regulate the Hawaiian people and take over their land and
all their practices. (Stannard, 381 417)
As a result to new people coming into colonizes Hawaii and its people, the Hawaiians suffered many
consequences. Formerly, the Hawaiian Islands remained isolated from the rest of the world. Once they
were tainted with outside contact, the Hawaiians quickly fell ill with disease causing their population
to go on rapid decline. Smaller populations allowed the missionaries to eventually gain more control.
Eventually hula was prohibited, as well as the language and other past times, the final straw coming
down to Hawaii s illegal annexation. The Hawaiian culture was almost lost completely; but if so it
would have been legitimate to the missionaries because they were indeed helping these indigenous
peoples become less savage like and closer to God.
Another important case of the government approving disaster was when the United States permitted
atomic and hydrogen bomb testing in the Pacific. It

Figurative Language In Frankenstein
In Frankenstein, Shelley uses a variety of figurative language that contribute to the novel s depressing
atmosphere. Figurative language, such as allusions, personifications, and similes, establishes a
relationship between two literally contrasting subjects. It prompts readers to more closely analyze the
subjects for underlying similarities. It can also add to depth to the piece and enhance the overall novel
by making abstract concepts more digestible.
During the monster s narration, the author utilizes a series of biblical allusions to express the monster
s anguish and his relationship with Victor. While the monster identifies with Satan, he also points out,
Satan had his companions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage him; but I am solitary and abhorred
(Shelley 93). Satan is usually viewed as a miserable creature, because he was exiled from heaven and
can no longer live in God s glory. However, the monster reveals that even Satan is more fortunate than
him, because at least, Satan is not completely isolated in Hell. The allusion emphasizes the extent of
the monster s loneliness. Additionally, the monster reveals, Many times, I consider Satan as the fitter
emblem of my condition... (Shelley 93). Shelley compares the monster to the biblical figure, Satan,
who embodies evil. She emphasizes the monster s miserable existence, because similar to Satan, his
existence has only brought tragedy and evil upon the world. Overall, her comparison to Satan induces

Recommendation And Recommendations About The Paparazzi And...
Hollywood is filled with paparazzi photographers. They are increasing every year. The OK magazine

Winston Churchill s Accomplishments During Ww2
A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every
difficulty. This quote by an iconic and one of the most beloved leaders to ever live, Sir Winston
Churchill, explains the dire need to stay positive in any situation possible. Winston Churchill was the
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom throughout the 1940s and 50s. His superb Leadership skills is
one of the main reasons why World War 2 came to an end. Mr. Churchill had an abundant amount of
accomplishments during his lifetime. For instance, in 1953, Churchill was knighted by Queen
Elizabeth the 2nd. The same year he was named the recipient of the Nobel Prize in literature ( Winston
Churchill 1). There were social, economic, and cultural influences on Winston Churchill which

When he visited America, he saw the warmth and welcomeness of the country, and knew he had to

An Analysis Of The Banjo By Louis Gottschalk
To recover from the storm, I select The Banjo by Louis Gottschalk as my next piece. In contrast to the
fierce thunderstorm in Moonlight s third movement, Banjo is full of cheerful and light hearted
melodies. As if a sunshower, the music refreshes our mind and energizes our spirit.
Staccato, one of the most remarkable characteristics in this piece, brings energy to the entire music. In
the subject line of the A section (this piece has a five part A B A B A form), the melody of the left hand
purely consists of staccatos whose short, bouncing feature opens up a dynamic theme., This dynamic
is further expressed as the piece enters B section, since the high pitched notes have more
distinguishable sounds and a more rapid speed. This movement then culminates at five major chords
whose high pitch and strong, sharp volume produce an extraordinarily penetrating sound. All these
movements delineates a playful scene of rain dancing at every corner of the world: on a roof, a stream,
an umbrella, a petal of flower, etc. By reflecting sunlight, every drop of rain looks like a shining
crystal that illuminates the surroundings and illuminates our heart.
Another interesting point of this piece is the use of an old music, Capetown Races. Capetown Races
resembles the tune of nursery rhymes and introduces an innocent, childlike sense. In The Banjo, the
main melody of the old song comes from the right hand region and are expressed through octave
chords. As the main melody repeats, the notes

Racial Inequality And Discrimination Of Child Welfare
I. Conceptualize Framework
Racial disproportionality and disparity in child welfare represents a complex phenomenon emanating
from historical theoretical socioeconomic and policy trends that has shaped this service over the past
several decades. There are many theories that have been proposed explain why racial
disproportionality and disparity exists in child welfare. It has been recognized the underlying roots of
racial disproportionality and disparity are complex and often coexists. Racial disproportionate in child
welfare will be the focus of this research. I will focus on is Racial Bias and Discrimination of child
welfare agencies, particularly the child protective services.
The literature suggest the one of the reason for over representation of minority(colored) children in
child welfare results from the different treatment of race or racial bias (attitudinal dimension) an
discrimination (behavioral dimension) (mortion, 1999; Roberts, 2002). This theory also suggests, this
treatment can be external or internal in the welfare system; however I will focus only on the
implication of internal welfare agencies (i.e. child protective specialist). Child protective specialists
culture and policies may lead to inequitable treatment of families of color. CPS workers may have
biases towards families of color which could affect the decision making at any point of the
investigation. This may not have occurred intentionally by the worker however due to institutional
racism which

A Study On Presence Centered Youth Ministry
In reading a book it is typical to make notes and highlight passages. However, with Mike King s
Presence Centered Youth Ministry, what started with highlighters, turned to pencil, then sticky notes.
Finally, read now and then read again later became the mantra. It is infrequently that books resonate
with our own theology and our own transformational journeys, but that is the situation with Presence
Centered Youth Ministry.
Thesis for Presence Centered Youth Ministry One must really dig into the book to get to the thesis.
That is not to say the introduction and the entire first chapter is ineffective, quite the opposite is true. It
is necessary to understand the context and transformation of King s life in order to appreciate the
thesis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King recounts his transition from youth to youth pastor in a conservative setting with a pharisaic
leaning. The real beauty is the ability to use this background and rely on the Spirit, scripture and
tradition to inform the remainder of his theology.
Author s Credentials
King uses Presence Centered Youth Ministry as a teaching tool. Beginning with the current setting, he
then identifies the traits of a spiritual leader, practices that invite the presence of the Spirit into
ministry, scripture, prayer, and a rule of life as means for meeting God. Each of the seven chapters
provides sound reasoning and scriptural support which is truly rooted in Christ. Furthermore, King has
thirty years of ministry experience as well as holding positions within the area of youth ministry at a
national level.
Author s Arguments
King s primary argument is that of the current decline of mainline denominational catechesis,
particularly youth through several factors identified by Hart in Deconstructing Evangelicalism (Pg.
30). These factors include Succession, Lack of Tradition, Age Segregation, and Decisionism (Pg. 30,
32, 33, 35). The cumulative effect of these factors is the loss of a consistent catechesis and formation
strategy. Our youth, King provides, are prepared and able to handle a variety of complex practices for

Effect Of Smoke Regulation On Hospitality Industry
INTRODUCTION:
Scientific research article should be presented as logical arguments and in such a way that sequence of
the article sections will correspond to a model or chain of reasoning that applies to such article
(Krathwohl, 2009, P.62). However, the research article by Hyland, et al (2003) does not seem to have
the framework or follow this model or organized in chain of reasoning sequence/format for some
reasons best known by the authors . Beside, Krathwohl, (2009) pointed out that this chain chain of
reasoning model applies differently to preplanned and emergent studies.
The authors justification of the need for the study, including the degree to which the authors
synthesized and critically analyzed existing research to show that this study is the next logical step in
the line of research.
Hyland, et al (2003) wanted to carry out this research because they believed that there was gap in the
previous studies which policy makers, tobacco industries and restaurant owners cite while making
arguments that smoke regulation in hospitality industry will hurt their business and decrease revenues.
They implied that complicity and conflict of interest between the researchers and stakeholders in
hospitality industry together with tobacco industry might have influenced the research results which
lead to the conclusion that smoke free regulation in the hospitality industry will negatively impact
their sales and revenues. The authors also suggested that data collection methods

was Leopold and Anna s last child.
Leopold was very big on making sure his two children succeed. He wanted to develop their talents to a
high maximum, to make money and raise his social status, because he gave up on his own composing.
Although Leopold pushed the children to do best for his social status, Leopold saw it as his role as a
father to the children. Leopold s wife, agreed on all of his actions towards Mozart and Maria Anna.

Themes Of Letters To Kappus
In Letters to a Young Poet, Rilke writes letters to Kappus giving him advice and helping him figure
out solutions to deal with his problems. Themes such as solitude, childhood, criticism, and love tied in
into his life lessons trying to give Kappus a different perspective. Rilke taught Kappus to enjoy
solitude, maintain childhood innocence, ignore people s opinions, and to value the true meaning of
love. Not only does Rilke help and inspire Kappus but his readers as well. These letters allow readers
to form a new perspective on life due to Rilke s wisdom and knowledgeability. What is necessary,
after all, is only this: solitude, vast inner solitude. To walk inside yourself and meet no one for hours
that is what you must be able to attain, (Rilke 41). Rilke wanted Kappus to realize that there is no
reason to fear solitude. Solitude is about enjoying time spent alone, allowing people to explore what s
within. People tend to present themselves in a different manner when around others but solitude
allows one to be themselves. Not taking the time to get to know what is within and constantly being
surrounded by people, may have a negative effect on a person. Someone who doesn t take the time to
get to know themselves will allow others to shape them into the person they feel they re expected to
become. In reality, no one can tell someone who they should be, people can only figure that out for
themselves. With solitude no one can criticise one s behavior or set a

decreased or increased quantities, substituted with another ingredient, or excluded as a whole, while

holds true for literary works, as well. The success of some pieces relies heavily on a strong plot, while
the success of others is found primarily from the quality of characters and setting. To construct a

In containing this theme, the tale will reveal how destructive these prejudices can be to the individual,
group, and society as a whole. These social prejudices were best showcased in Mary Shelley s 1818
novel Frankenstein, in which the Creature was continually judged based upon his physical appearance
instead of his emotional and intellectual attributes. Not only was the Creature judged by his father, but
by other characters throughout the novel including William, the DeLacey family, and other townsfolk.
These prejudices took a heavy toll on the Creature, as seen through his emotional responses and his
sporadic actions towards other humans. All in all, these prejudices ended up being harmful not only to
the Creature, but to all whom he interacted with due to their effect on him. This theme is so vital to
maintaining the Frankenstein story that it seemingly reoccurs in every adaptation that we covered this
semester. However, out of all of these adaptations, Philip K. Dick s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of

Essay about The Symbol Of Blood In Macbeth
The Symbol Of Blood In Macbeth
Blood is something that we need to live. So it is clearly understood when Shakespeare uses the symbol
of blood to represent murder, betrayal, and death, to show all of the evil that was going on. It is a
symbol that was used the most in the play Macbeth, and had different meanings.
One of the first references to blood represents a feeling of honour, and bravery. It is in Act I scene 2
line 1. Duncan says, What bloody man is that? when he sees the injured sergeant. Then, from lines 9
33 (The Merciless Macdonwald, etc...) the sergeant tells the story of Macbeth s heroic victories over
Macdonwald and the King of Norway. The telling of this story is, in itself, heroic. It is symbolic of the
brave fighter who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pontius Pilate said that he was freed of his blood and washed his hands.
Before Duncan s murder, Macbeth imagines that he sees a dagger floating in the air in front of him. (
And on thy blade and dungeon, gouts of blood, which was not so before. There s no such thing: it is
the bloody business which informs thus to mine eyes. (Act 2 scene 1 lines 46 49). The blood imagery
here refers to murder, ambition, and betrayal. This is a totally different meaning than earlier in the
play. Before, blood was seen as a positive thing. Now, it is associated with evil. It also shows Macbeth
s transformation from a person of honesty, nobility, and bravery to an evil, deceitful person. After
Macbeth murders Duncan, he starts to see how severe his crime was and tries to wash Duncan s blood
off his hands. ( Will all great Neptune s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No; this my hand
will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red. ) Act 2 scene 2 lines 60 63.
This shows that Macbeth s character is starting to get weaker because of his crime. The blood does not
represent a feeling of ambition; it now represents remorse, and guilt. Macbeth is so upset and says that
not even all the water in the ocean will wash the blood off his hands. Duncan was a kind generous
man and he had no

Living A Healthy Lifestyle
Developing healthy behaviors can lead to a healthier lifestyle, but living a healthier life is an ongoing
process. Oftentimes people believe that they have achieved a healthy lifestyle once they have fixed
one specific health problem, but this is simply not true. In order to develop and achieve a healthy
lifestyle, it is pertinent to devote time creating healthy behaviors that can be maintained over an
extended period of time or indefinitely. Moreover, individuals must recognize that their nutrition and
physical activity can impact their health. Individuals who participate in regular physical activity will
see numerous benefits to not only their short term health, but also their long term health. On the other
hand, individuals who live a relatively inactive or sedentary lifestyle can see an increase in the
incidence of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory
diseases (Hoeger, et al. 3). Furthermore, the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have
conducted studies that have found that almost 80 percent of the latter deaths could be prevented
through a healthy lifestyle program (Hoeger, et al. 3).
About a year ago, I went to the doctor with some health concerns and my doctor requested that I have
a blood test done. Through these tests, my doctor discovered that I have a high cholesterol of 256
mg/dL. She explained that she was mainly concerned with the fact that my LDL cholesterol was high
at 147 mg/dL.

Total Mesorectal Excision
The years after the introduction of total mesorectal excision, lead to a major improvement in the
survival of rectal cancer. Since its introduction, the five year survival rates increased from 45% 50%
to 75% and the local recurrence rates decreased from 30% to 5% 8%.[1] The technique is based on the
principle that dissection in the mesorectal plane, produces an intact fascial lined specimen, which
contains all the blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, and lymph nodes, through which the tumor may
disseminate.[2, 3] The embryological planes however, are not limited to the rectum and mesorectal
layers, but continue to the sigmoid and descending colon on the left side, running finally behind the
pancreas and around the spleen, also including the duodenum

The Effect Of Latest Laws On Texting And Driving
Introduction
Recent laws outlawing texting while driving have become ambiguous, under inclusive and enforce
light punishments that cannot be deterred. These laws also empower the police to carry out warrantless
search for the cell phone of the driver. Texting while driving is highly dangerous and people doing so
must be punished strictly, license suspensions, interlock devices preventing the usage of cell phones
while driving and possible jail time (Arrigo, 2014). This particular paper is an attempt to evaluate the
effectiveness of latest laws implemented against texting and driving.
Texting and Driving
There has been a rising concern in the last few years about the potential dangers accompanying texting
while driving associated largely with the increasing number of highway fatalities. Significant efforts
have been made by The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) for
curtailing distracted driving including texting while driving along with public service information and
announcements. As per NHTSA, driving distractions are of three different forms like manual, visual
and cognitive. Manual driving distractions take off the driver s hands off from the steering wheel
(Kirszner Mandell, 2010).
Visual driving distractions take off the driver s eyes off from the road and cognitive driving
distractions take off the mind of the driver from driving. It has been stated by NHTSA that since text
messaging needs visual, cognitive and manual attention on part

High Stakes Testing Pressure Summary
Have you ever felt the pressure of high stakes testing as a student, a teacher, an administrator or even
as a parent? The goals of federal and state governments of high stakes testing are to improve schools.
The government believes if there are negative consequences tied to standardized test performance then
teachers and students will work harder which will increase test scores. The use of standardized testing
dates back several decades but with the passing of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) in 2002, high stakes
testing is mandated nationwide. The article, High Stakes Testing and Student Achievement: Updated
Analyses with NAEP Data, is a follow up study about the relationship of high stakes testing
accountability and student achievement. Nichols, Glass, and Berliner (2012) states that high stakes
testing is the process of attaching significant consequences to standardized test performance with the

As we continue now well beyond the passing of NCLB and the increasing pressure of high stakes
testing, Nichols, Glass Berliner, (2012) feel that the relationship of high stakes testing with student
achievement needs to be reconsidered. Using the authors APR measure, the study in this article has
one goal and that is to re examine the relationship between high stakes testing pressure and its
relationship to NAEP data. Nichols, Glass, and Berliner state (2012):
The primary research question guiding this study is: What is the relationship between state level high
stakes testing pressure and student achievement? More specifically, we want to know: What is the
pattern of correlations between APR and fourth and eighth grade NAEP scores in reading and math
over time, when disaggregated by student ethnicity, and when disaggregated by student
socioeconomic status. (p.

Network Diagram, And Critical Path Method
Introduction Work space planning has become one of the most important part of preconstruction
activities. According to Kaming et al. 1998, Oglesby et al. 1989, and Zhang et al. 2007, Unsuitable
work space planning could lead to lots of problem in job site such as rework, loss of productivity,
safety hazards, and issues of poor quality. Accordingly, a project manager should consider the work
space as one of the important factor during a construction. According to Chau et al. 2004, Mallasi
2006, and Wang et al. 2004, although the grant chart, network diagram, and critical path method are
some existing construction planning techniques, they have some limitations to demonstrate the three
dimensional features of activities. In addition, it is difficult even for expert project managers to
manage work space problems and their negative effects during the construction. Based on previous
related studies, Byungjoo Choi, Hyun Soo Lee, Moonseo Park, Yong K. Cho, and Hyunsoo Kim
indicate a new work space planning techniques in their article, Framework for Work Space Planning
Using Four Dimensional BIM in Construction Project , by considering 4D BIM generation, work
space requirement identification, work space occupation representation, work space problem
identification, and work space problem resolution. Related Researches There are several related
researches from 1994 until 2012. Overall, they suggest a scheduling technique by considering required

  • 2. Persuasion Persuasion Austen s Canonical Final Words You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago... I have loved none but you. ― Jane Austen, Persuasion It s a love story. A fairy tale ending, a quintessential marriage, and a happily ever after substantiates this fact. So how is Jane Austen s last written novel, Persuasion, any different to the typical, cliché romance? The secret lies in the pain of the journey. At the age of twenty seven, Anne Elliot; a mediocre maiden mistreated by those closest to her, lost the bloom of youth and more importantly, the love of her life. Eight years had passed since she was persuaded by her narcissistic family to terminate her engagement to Frederick Wentworth, a gallant naval captain born of low social status and insufficient wealth. When they meet again, both have changed significantly. But amidst flirtatious distractions and unexpected misadventures, the pair cannot deny the conjoined heartache and love they felt exclusively for each other, despite the misfortunes of life. Persuasion, written by Austen in her final days and published in 1817, is a novel possessing a timelessness and raw nature which reflects early 19th century Britain in a way that resonates with current modernistic society, thus justifying its inclusion in the Literary Canon. ... • 8. Effect Of A Single Dose Of Radiotherapy Radiation is energy emitted from a source. It has the property to ionise when it has such a high energy, that at the moment it interacts with an atom, it can remove tightly bound electrons from its orbit, causing the atom to become charged (ionized). The ionising effect of X rays allows them to damage the DNA in cells and divide cells in the body. This property is used it the cancer treatment. When a person has cancer, their cells divide uncontrollably because of changes in their DNA, forming tumours: these are group of abnormal cells that form growths. Rapidly dividing cells are particularly vulnerable to the effect of ionising radiation. By directing high energy X rays at the tumours, the cancerous cells get deeply damaged. This cancer treatment is called radiotherapy. The effect of a single dose of radiotherapy can lead the damaged cells to repair themselves, repair incorrectly or die. Healthy cells subject to a dose may recover if given time. Radiotherapy is therefore given in short bursts over a long period of time. There are many subsets of radiotherapy including: the Superficial System: treats skin surface tumours with energies of 50 150kV MV systems for deep tumours (photons) and superficial skin/thyroid tumours (e s) at 22Mev Linear Accelerators (Linacs) are used to deliver X rays to a patient. • 27. An Analysis Of The Banjo By Louis Gottschalk To recover from the storm, I select The Banjo by Louis Gottschalk as my next piece. In contrast to the fierce thunderstorm in Moonlight s third movement, Banjo is full of cheerful and light hearted melodies. As if a sunshower, the music refreshes our mind and energizes our spirit. Staccato, one of the most remarkable characteristics in this piece, brings energy to the entire music. In the subject line of the A section (this piece has a five part A B A B A form), the melody of the left hand purely consists of staccatos whose short, bouncing feature opens up a dynamic theme., This dynamic is further expressed as the piece enters B section, since the high pitched notes have more distinguishable sounds and a more rapid speed. This movement then culminates at five major chords whose high pitch and strong, sharp volume produce an extraordinarily penetrating sound. All these movements delineates a playful scene of rain dancing at every corner of the world: on a roof, a stream, an umbrella, a petal of flower, etc. By reflecting sunlight, every drop of rain looks like a shining crystal that illuminates the surroundings and illuminates our heart. Another interesting point of this piece is the use of an old music, Capetown Races. Capetown Races resembles the tune of nursery rhymes and introduces an innocent, childlike sense. In The Banjo, the main melody of the old song comes from the right hand region and are expressed through octave chords. As the main melody repeats, the notes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Racial Inequality And Discrimination Of Child Welfare I. Conceptualize Framework Racial disproportionality and disparity in child welfare represents a complex phenomenon emanating from historical theoretical socioeconomic and policy trends that has shaped this service over the past several decades. There are many theories that have been proposed explain why racial disproportionality and disparity exists in child welfare. It has been recognized the underlying roots of racial disproportionality and disparity are complex and often coexists. Racial disproportionate in child welfare will be the focus of this research. I will focus on is Racial Bias and Discrimination of child welfare agencies, particularly the child protective services. The literature suggest the one of the reason for over representation of minority(colored) children in child welfare results from the different treatment of race or racial bias (attitudinal dimension) an discrimination (behavioral dimension) (mortion, 1999; Roberts, 2002). This theory also suggests, this treatment can be external or internal in the welfare system; however I will focus only on the implication of internal welfare agencies (i.e. child protective specialist). Child protective specialists culture and policies may lead to inequitable treatment of families of color. CPS workers may have biases towards families of color which could affect the decision making at any point of the investigation. This may not have occurred intentionally by the worker however due to institutional racism which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, with Mike King s Presence Centered Youth Ministry, what started with highlighters, turned to pencil, then sticky notes. Finally, read now and then read again later became the mantra. It is infrequently that books resonate with our own theology and our own transformational journeys, but that is the situation with Presence Centered Youth Ministry. Thesis for Presence Centered Youth Ministry One must really dig into the book to get to the thesis. King recounts his transition from youth to youth pastor in a conservative setting with a pharisaic leaning. The real beauty is the ability to use this background and rely on the Spirit, scripture and tradition to inform the remainder of his theology. Author s Credentials King uses Presence Centered Youth Ministry as a teaching tool. Beginning with the current setting, he then identifies the traits of a spiritual leader, practices that invite the presence of the Spirit into ministry, scripture, prayer, and a rule of life as means for meeting God. Each of the seven chapters provides sound reasoning and scriptural support which is truly rooted in Christ. Furthermore, King has thirty years of ministry experience as well as holding positions within the area of youth ministry at a national level. Author s Arguments King s primary argument is that of the current decline of mainline denominational catechesis, particularly youth through several factors identified by Hart in Deconstructing Evangelicalism (Pg. 30). These factors include Succession, Lack of Tradition, Age Segregation, and Decisionism (Pg. 30, 32, 33, 35). The cumulative effect of these factors is the loss of a consistent catechesis and formation strategy. Effect Of Smoke Regulation On Hospitality Industry INTRODUCTION: Scientific research article should be presented as logical arguments and in such a way that sequence of the article sections will correspond to a model or chain of reasoning that applies to such article (Krathwohl, 2009, P.62). However, the research article by Hyland, et al (2003) does not seem to have the framework or follow this model or organized in chain of reasoning sequence/format for some reasons best known by the authors . Beside, Krathwohl, (2009) pointed out that this chain chain of reasoning model applies differently to preplanned and emergent studies. The authors justification of the need for the study, including the degree to which the authors synthesized and critically analyzed existing research to show that this study is the next logical step in the line of research. Hyland, et al (2003) wanted to carry out this research because they believed that there was gap in the previous studies which policy makers, tobacco industries and restaurant owners cite while making arguments that smoke regulation in hospitality industry will hurt their business and decrease revenues. They implied that complicity and conflict of interest between the researchers and stakeholders in hospitality industry together with tobacco industry might have influenced the research results which lead to the conclusion that smoke free regulation in the hospitality industry will negatively impact their sales and revenues. • 36. Themes Of Letters To Kappus In Letters to a Young Poet, Rilke writes letters to Kappus giving him advice and helping him figure out solutions to deal with his problems. Themes such as solitude, childhood, criticism, and love tied in into his life lessons trying to give Kappus a different perspective. Rilke taught Kappus to enjoy solitude, maintain childhood innocence, ignore people s opinions, and to value the true meaning of love. Not only does Rilke help and inspire Kappus but his readers as well. These letters allow readers to form a new perspective on life due to Rilke s wisdom and knowledgeability. What is necessary, after all, is only this: solitude, vast inner solitude. To walk inside yourself and meet no one for hours that is what you must be able to attain, (Rilke 41). Rilke wanted Kappus to realize that there is no reason to fear solitude. Solitude is about enjoying time spent alone, allowing people to explore what s within. People tend to present themselves in a different manner when around others but solitude allows one to be themselves. Not taking the time to get to know what is within and constantly being surrounded by people, may have a negative effect on a person. Someone who doesn t take the time to get to know themselves will allow others to shape them into the person they feel they re expected to become. In reality, no one can tell someone who they should be, people can only figure that out for themselves. With solitude no one can criticise one s behavior or set a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not only was the Creature judged by his father, but by other characters throughout the novel including William, the DeLacey family, and other townsfolk. These prejudices took a heavy toll on the Creature, as seen through his emotional responses and his sporadic actions towards other humans. All in all, these prejudices ended up being harmful not only to the Creature, but to all whom he interacted with due to their effect on him. This theme is so vital to maintaining the Frankenstein story that it seemingly reoccurs in every adaptation that we covered this semester. However, out of all of these adaptations, Philip K. So it is clearly understood when Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood to represent murder, betrayal, and death, to show all of the evil that was going on. It is a symbol that was used the most in the play Macbeth, and had different meanings. One of the first references to blood represents a feeling of honour, and bravery. It is in Act I scene 2 line 1. Duncan says, What bloody man is that? when he sees the injured sergeant. Then, from lines 9 33 (The Merciless Macdonwald, etc...) the sergeant tells the story of Macbeth s heroic victories over Macdonwald and the King of Norway. The blood imagery here refers to murder, ambition, and betrayal. This is a totally different meaning than earlier in the play. Before, blood was seen as a positive thing. Now, it is associated with evil. It also shows Macbeth s transformation from a person of honesty, nobility, and bravery to an evil, deceitful person. After Macbeth murders Duncan, he starts to see how severe his crime was and tries to wash Duncan s blood off his hands. ( Will all great Neptune s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? No; this my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red. ) Act 2 scene 2 lines 60 63. This shows that Macbeth s character is starting to get weaker because of his crime. The blood does not represent a feeling of ambition; it now represents remorse, and guilt. According to Kaming et al. 1998, Oglesby et al. 1989, and Zhang et al. 2007, Unsuitable work space planning could lead to lots of problem in job site such as rework, loss of productivity, safety hazards, and issues of poor quality. Accordingly, a project manager should consider the work space as one of the important factor during a construction. According to Chau et al. 2004, Mallasi 2006, and Wang et al. 2004, although the grant chart, network diagram, and critical path method are some existing construction planning techniques, they have some limitations to demonstrate the three dimensional features of activities. In addition, it is difficult even for expert project managers to manage work space problems and their negative effects during the construction. Based on previous related studies, Byungjoo Choi, Hyun Soo Lee, Moonseo Park, Yong K. Cho, and Hyunsoo Kim indicate a new work space planning techniques in their article, Framework for Work Space Planning Using Four Dimensional BIM in Construction Project , by considering 4D BIM generation, work space requirement identification, work space occupation representation, work space problem identification, and work space problem resolution. Related Researches There are several related researches from 1994 until 2012. Overall, they suggest a scheduling technique by considering required space, space constrained and ...
