Grading Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Grading Essays" presents a unique set of challenges that
often mirror the complexities inherent in the topic itself. The irony of evaluating the process of
evaluating written work is not lost on the writer. To delve into the nuances of grading essays,
one must navigate through a labyrinth of perspectives, theories, and practical considerations.
Firstly, grappling with the inherent subjectivity in grading becomes a prominent hurdle. The
diverse range of writing styles, interpretations, and the elusive nature of a standardized rubric
make it challenging to establish a universally fair assessment system. The very act of assigning
numerical or letter grades to something as nuanced as written expression raises questions about
the efficacy of such evaluations in truly capturing the essence of a student's abilities.
Additionally, the ever-evolving landscape of education and technology introduces another layer
of complexity. With the rise of automated grading systems, the essay explores the delicate
balance between efficiency and the loss of the human touch in assessing creativity and critical
thinking. The essay must tread carefully to analyze the impact of technology on grading methods
without succumbing to a simplistic narrative of either celebration or skepticism.
Moreover, addressing the broader implications of grading essays involves delving into societal
expectations and the pressure placed on both students and educators. The essay must navigate
the intricate web of societal standards, academic competitiveness, and the impact of grades on
students' self-esteem, all while maintaining a balanced and unbiased perspective.
In conclusion, penning an essay on the intricacies of grading essays demands a delicate dance
between objectivity and subjectivity, grappling with the evolving nature of education, and
navigating the societal implications tied to the grading process. The challenge lies not only in
analyzing the multifaceted aspects of grading but also in presenting a comprehensive and
coherent narrative that captures the essence of this intricate topic.

Bine Drinking Boy Advert Analysis
1) Alcohol is indirectly portrayed as being detrimental and destructive in both adverts.
In the Binge Drinking boy advert, the boy rips his clothing, pours food on himself,
shaves his eyebrows, rips his earring out of his ear, and knocks his head on the
mirror. The excessive alcohol which the boy consumed causes him to damage his
body and clothing and to become aggressive. This therefore depicts alcohol as being
a substance which causes self destructive behaviour and harm to those who drink it in
excess.
In the Binge Drinking girl advert the girl rips her clothing, vomits all over herself,
messes her makeup and pours alcohol on the floor. These acts cause the girl to look
slutty, easy, trashy and worthless. The image of this out of control ... Show more

This becomes a continuous cycle of rehabilitation, staying clean from alcohol,
relapsing again and then being readmitted into rehabilitation.
Personal Well Being: Alcoholism leads to long term damage on numerous parts of
your body. It can affect your mood permanently and cause anxiety. Alcoholism can
affect your immune system and your central nervous system. Furthermore, it can
cause you to gain weight, and lead to high blood pressure, cancer, strokes and heart
attacks. Overall alcoholism leads to an alcohol addict leading an unhappy and
unhealthy lifestyle.
Social Interaction: Alcoholism can cause problems with the personal and professional
relationships in an addict s life. Alcoholism can lead to addicts losing their friends as
their friends do not want to be around them when they are only focused on alcohol
and how they can access it. Alcoholism negatively impacts the addict s personality,
causing the addict to become irritable and to have poor judgment which in turn
damages the addict s relationships with those around them. Furthermore there is a
high correlation between alcoholism and serious domestic violence. Alcoholism can
lead to verbal and physical abuse of the addict s friends and

Gas exchange Process in which gas is oxygen exchanged for carbon dioxide THE
WORM
The worm lives underneath the ground in moist rich humus soil. The worm is
Terrestrial which means it is related to earths or its inhabitants, and is not restricted
to moist environments as the worms internal lungs keep it moist. As worms are
nocturnal they only are active at night Which gives them less chance to be eaten by
birds as birds hunt in the day time. This is an advantage as they will not dry out in
the day time. In hot days in summer the worm burrows deeper to avoid drying out
and dying. In wet days it is possible that the worm will be brought ... Show more

As the water flows through the gills of the fish the lamellae gains oxygen in order
for the fish to have efficient gas exchange. Because fish live in the water and not land
it is impossible to breathe (inhale/exhale) that s why they have gills as their main gas
exchange organ, unlike mammals with lungs and worms with skin.
Fish excrete in the sea which is important for the ecosystem. An advantage for fish is
that the blood flows through the lamellae in the opposite direction to the water
flow so their gas exchange process is not interrupted while gas is exhaled. There is
also no dead space in the gills as most water that passes over the gills o2 is diffused
into the fish blood. Fish have rich blood supply to gills and are highly vascularised.
The fish have numerous folds to the gill structure which increases the surface area so
efficient gas exchange.
Mammal Sheep
Comparisons: a tracheal system in mammals would be too heavy as lungs would
require large amounts of water to extract sufficient oxygen, both fish and worms have
high vascularised blood vessels. Mammals, worms and fish breathe oxygen but in
different ways e.g. skin, gills and lung.
Fish, sheep and worms have large surface are to volume ratio to get efficient gas
exchange. They all have different habits which make them favourable in their own
species as worms can survive in soil unlike mammals and fish, fish can survive in
water unlike

Abstract
This research paper is a compilation of information gathered during lectures and
through the web on the Nervous System and the Reward Pathway. This paper
examines the structure of these systems, their discovery and the effects that drugs
have on influencing these systems and how addictions are formed.
Nervous System and Reward Pathway
The nervous system is broken down into two parts, The Central Nervous System and
the Peripheral Nervous System. Each System has its own function but works together
to engage the brain and body in all aspects of life such as bodily functions, sensory
processing, learning, reasoning, creativity, experiences and emotions. Looking further
into the nervous system is where neurons and neurotransmitters come into play. This
system of neurotransmission is responsible for ensuring that the Central Nervous
System and the Peripheral Nervous system communicate effectively. Sending and
receiving messages about the body internally and externally. Part of this process
called neurotransmission includes our desires and motivations, which we can relate
to as the rewards pathway. Located in the center of the brain the rewards pathway
can be affected by natural and necessary pleasures as well as the behaviors
surrounding pleasure from unnaturally occurring pleasures such as drugs, or other
addictive activities.

The California Drought and the Proper Allocation of Water Resources
Intro:
The state of California is in the midst of a five year drought. The results of which are
beginning to reek havoc on the state s municipalities, farms and wetland habitats. If
the state continues as is supporting in thirsty agricultural industries, towns and cities
at current levels, not only will this exacerbate already tenuous water supply problem
within the state it will have ripple affects throughout the South West. Surrounding
states will have to adopt even more stringent restriction for farms, cities and
industries which may have further calamitous economic results. However, the most
difficult questions like proper allocation or modifying water rights have yet to be
answered and likely will not be resolved before California s water situation worsens.
Last April standing in front of a snowpack at just 5% of normal levels, Governor
Jerry Brown declared the drought in California has reached a crisis level and
instituted state wide water restriction for towns, cities and municipalities. He called
for a 25% reduction of water usage by urging Californians flush less, take shorter
showers, and let lawns turn brown. Although agriculture accounts for roughly 80%
(Northern California Water Association) of all human consumption of water this
industry was exempted any restriction by the governor. With a drought which shows
no sign of letting up, powerful farm and environmental lobbies, difficult to

Analysis Of Daughters Of The Dust
Introduction to film
Daughters of the Dust (1991), Dir. Julie Dash Scene analysis
Daughters of the dust revolves around an early 20th century African American
family from Ibo Landing which is a time not shy of racism and slavery, especially
in middle America. The scene depicted in the movie where a young girl is running
through the forest in an all white dress with a blue ribbon who seems to be being
followed by a man in a hide and seek manor. The young girl disappears and the man
stumbles upon a plot of land that is a graveyard, with headstones made from
wooden planks, the man observes his surroundings. Presumably, this girl in white
is the young voice narrating the next scene which pans through steam over to a
flash back of the ancestors who were slaves. We look across a field of men and
women who are working over these steaming wells, as well as the people in the
background hanging soaked sheets up to dry. We see these people mixing over a
steaming hole in the ground scraping around a grey paste. The workers then begin
to pull the paste out of the steaming pits and scrape it into wooden molds. They
appear to be making cement blocks as a young boy watches and older man collect all
the wooden brick molds and systematically knocks the brick from the mold and
piles them orderly on both his left as well as his right. While doing so he sings an
old hymn, the boy seems to enjoy watching this process. Throughout the entire scene,
there is a narration of a girl which speaks

The Market And Future Steps
Introduction With regard to Giant TMC Berhad, there are many competitors in the
whole industry. In order to confirm strategies for understanding the market and
future steps, conduct the PESTLE analysis is essential to examine the external
environment of the business. In this essay, firstly a brief discussion of all six factors
of the PESTLE framework will be introduced and the three most relevant ones may
be justified in detail. Secondly, two issues under each the three chosen factors which
may have impact on the success of the Giant enter the Australian supermarket

Factors identification Combine with the Giant TMC Berhad, the most three
important macro environment are political, economic and social cultural. The
company mainly operates in Malaysia (http://www.giant.com.my/about us.aspx). As a
foreign supermarket, deep understanding the Australian s policy and regulation in this
industry is crucial for their entry. With the Australia s slow economic growth, the
purchase power of citizens could be decrease. However, the needs of necessities such
as foods, fresh food and vegetables would be unaffected. Moreover the population size
of the country has a significant rise in the next ten years; it will excite the growth of
the whole supermarket industry. Issues discussion The main policy influencing
supermarket industry is the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission
(ACCC) which manage the pricing and supply strategies. The ACCC indicates that
they will investigate two major supermarket retailers Coles and Woolworth in where
they set unfair prices with their suppliers. On the other side, many suppliers said that
they are willing to collaborate with international supermarkets which are more
credible and comply with the pricing regulations (IBIS 2016). Another issue of
political factor is on 6 October 2015, 12 countries passed the Trans Pacific Partnership

In 1907 the Hershey Chocolate Company started producing a flat bottomed milk
chocolate candy which Mr. Hershey decided to call the Hershey Kiss. In early
production the Hershey Kisses were individually wrapped in little squares of silver
foil. In 1921 when the wrapping machine was invented Hershey decided to give the
Hershey Kiss a plume like appearance that we recognize today. This was to signify
to consumers that this was a genuine Hershey s Kiss Chocolate. This was
eventually trademarked in 1913. Over the next two decades the Hershey
Chocolate Company would produce several more products. These products were
Mr. Goodbar (1925), Hershey s Syrup (1926), chocolate chips (1928) and the
Krackel bar (1938). During the Great Depression of the 1930 s these products
made it possible for employees to keep their jobs and the company was able to
sustain profitability. During even harder times, WW II, The Hershey Company

Slavery In African American Research Paper
Slavery in America started sometime in 1619, when people from Africa were brought
to Jamestown, Virginia. Slavery lasted in America for some centuries, and the
influence it had on literature is a very vital one. When every citizen in America
preached the phrase Right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness , slaves were being
treated like animals. This inhumane practice revolutionized American arts and
literature. One of the most popular genres in African American literature was slave
narratives that developed in mid 19th century. Slave narratives accounted the harsh
lives of slaves, mostly in the Southern states, and their struggle to freedom. A lot of
these slave narratives inspired the abolitionist struggle, and also inspired in promoting

Business Expansion Into China
Business expansion into China
The Americans treat conception of self on self reliance and self promotion is more
accepted as they value freedom from external interference, while for the Chinese the
conception of self is viewed from a group perspective and they value self modesty as
well.
The other difficulty will be the language barrier that may exists between the
Americans and the China dwellers. It will be ethical for the company to hire
translators who will enable the clients feel at ease and respected as transactions
between the American sales people and the Chinese customers, or interaction between
the staff themselves may be a big challenge.
The other significant difference is that Americans do have the zeal to directly
confront, criticize, handle controversial topics and press to the logical end their
opinions while the Chinese are the opposite. They avoid as much as possible direct
confrontation and heated discourse, avoid open criticisms and controversial topics
and concern themselves more with maintaining peace and harmony among
themselves.
When it comes to duties and work level, the Americans value completion of the
assigned tasks than the relationships and friendships that may be developed during or
even instead of the work. The Chinese culture on the other hand is relationships
oriented where the maintenance and sustenance of relationships is more important
than accomplishing a task and is the two can be accomplished in tandem then it is a

Volunteering In High Schools
J.J. Watt, an American football defensive end for the Houston Texans, once said, My
mom taught me from a young age to give back and volunteer any chance you get.
(Brainyquote). Despite gaining all the fame and money from the NFL (National
Football League), the defensive end believes in the power and the potential of
volunteeringby altruistically helping out Hurricane Harvey victims with necessary
supplies such as water, food, and other basic needs (USA Today). There certainly
has to be a sort of flare that ignites the heart of a volunteer in order to selflessly aid
others, as exemplified by Watt. Yet, that aspect of community service is presently
vague among many high schools. Currently, many high schools require students to
volunteer for a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately one major question arises from this obligation. Does mandatory
volunteering truly invoke the spirit of volunteering? Selective colleges, in general,
are more stringent than they were in the past by the recruiting process. In fact, the
admission committees of these respective colleges accurately discern inadequate
applications from powerful ones, especially in relationship to the commitment level
of community service. Passion for community service is a vital indicator for
recruiting. They desire students who strongly dedicate themselves to volunteer with
something that coincides with their interests or major. However, mandatory
volunteering generates a belief that community service is a hindrance and a deliberate
waste of time towards obtaining a diploma. The embodiment of community service
diminishes as these educational institutions continue to exercise their power to
regulate civic engagement. Thus, selective colleges are likely to identify and reject
those who only fulfill the negative aspects of mandatory

Ms Anne Bradstreet throughout her works and lifetime expressed doubt in the
church and miracles shown in His scriptures. In her first memorial poem written in
1665 the language used in the poem heavily reinforces the ideals that God has a
path for everyone. In this poem Bradstreet writes blest babe, why should I once

here and throughout the poem carry a happy tone. She knows that though this
child was deceased at only a year and a half old, it was God s will and this child was

A Child On The Autism Spectrum
When the word autism is stated what is the first picture that comes to mind? Is it a
child throwing themselves on the ground and having an uncontrollable fit because the
situation has changed from the standard routine all of a sudden? Or a child that is
rocking back and forth constantly, or playing with one or two toys for a very long
time without getting bored. Currently one out of 88 children is diagnosed with
having an autism spectrumdisorder also known as ASD . Smith R, Hannah S,
Sengmuller E (2014 p9) Is there a way to help a child on the autism spectrum
without the need for them to be on medication that has its own side effects on how
the child behaves? Can a change in the diet help to control some of the side effects
of being on the autism spectrum? To answer this question, we need to look at
several things 1. How can a specialized diet help a child on the autism spectrum? 2.
What are the common diets for autism and what is the difference between these
diets. 3. What is the gluten free casein free diet all about and how do you
implement it for a child with autism? 4. What evidence is there in support of
specialized diets for autism from the medical profession and the parents point of
view? 5. How does being on a special diet compared to the national guidelines set by
this date for childcare facilities?

Clean Water Act Of 1977
Clean Water Act of 1977:
Amendment to the Federal Water Pollution Control Act of 1972 Research Paper
The Clean Water Act (CWA) was created in response the rapid loss of clean water.
The government wanted to restore and preserve the water, as much of it was no
longer useable for consumption or recreational use. A lot of this was due to
agricultural runoff which lead to a surplus of phosphorus and nitrogen in many
waters. (Tim Martins) The CWA s most prominent effect was stricter regulations on
the discharge of pollutants. Specifically trying to prevent point source pollutions
from places such as pipes and drains and focusing largely on industrial waste. The
only exceptions are for those who have gotten a permit to discharge of waste in a
Air Superiority Case Study
Defense campaigns and establishment of air superiority by the Allies played a key
role in changing the course of the European theater of World War II. In North Africa,
the RAF bombed and defeated German commander Erwin Rommel and prevented
him from reaching the vital Suez Canal, which would have gave the Germans access
to the Indian Ocean. British aircraft fired their rockets, attacking German artillery and
enemy transports. A German Panzer Commander described the failure of his
counterattack against aircraft and said, ...they [the Spitfires, Typhoons, and
Mustangs] came in hundreds, firing their rockets at the concentrated tanks and
vehicles. We could nothing against them and we could make no further progress. In
addition to defense on land, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was later determined that no Allied strategy in Europe was feasible until the U
boats were destroyed. Allied forces then looked to the RAF as a possible contender
to defeat the submarines that were terrorizing the Western European coasts. Soon,
airpower emerged as the most effective weapon against the deceptive U boats. The
United States Air Force allocated several B 24 Liberators, heavy bombers that were
retrofitted with radar and depth charges, to the RAF Coastal Command, which
patrolled the waters for German submarines. In the Battle of the Atlantic in 1943,
these aircraft of the RAF coastal command destroyed many U boats out of the water
and forced Germany to withdraw their submarines from the lanes in the Atlantic,
allowing ships transporting supplies to Allied countries to travel the oceans and
coasts with little resistance. Admiral Karl Dönitz of the Kriegsmarine, the Nazi
Naval Branch, realized how much the Allied aircraft were harrying his U boats and
he stated after the war how this was the decisive factor that won the Battle of the
The Origin Of Life Arose From Earth
Oparin hypothesized that the origin of life arose from Earth in its primitive state,
these conditions allowed the production of inorganic molecules, which slowly
transitioned into organic substances (RF). The temperature of the earth would
have also been several hundred degrees high to initiate changes in hydrocarbons,
correlating with Paneth s experiment (high temperatures to facilitate the breaking
of hydrocarbons into free radicals) (RF) and Russell and Hall s model. According
to Russell and Hall s model, life emerged in hot, reduced, basic and sulfuric waters
opposed with colder, more oxidized, iron bearing water. (Russell and Hall) They
proposed the origin of life would have taken place in the deep Hadean ocean floor.
The difference between acidity, temperatures and redox potential of the waters would
have facilitated a gradient of pH, temperature and redox potential, becoming
sustainable over geological time scales, providing the continuity for conditions that
were favourable to organic chemical reactions required for the origin of life. This led
to the formation of membranes through biosynthesis and thus led to the creation of
prokaryotes. The membranes of the prokaryotes were believed to be composed of
chains of ether linked isoprene units. Although it had been hypothesized that chemical
evolution of straight fatty acid through Fischer Tropsch like reactions (Simoneit et al.,
2007) many facts indicate that ether type lipid with branched chains with isoprene

Biography on Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary
April 21, 1926 at 2:40 in the morning at 17 Bruton Street in Mayfair, London; The
Duke and Duchess of York gave birth to their first child, a daughter, but also a
princess. Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was christened in the chapel at the
Buckingham Palace. The Princess received her first name after her mother
Elizabeth; while she received her middle name from her paternal great
grandmother, Queen Alexandra, and paternal grandmother, Queen Mary. She
spent her early years at One Hundred Forty Five Piccadilly, London, and White
Lodge in the Richmond Park. She also spent time in country homes with her
paternal grandparents, and her mother s parents. She had gained a sister when she
was four, Princess Margaret Rose. When Princess Elizabeth was 6 years old, her
parents took over the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park as their own country
home. ( The Official Website of The British Monarchy ) Queen Elizabeth was home
schooled with her younger sister, Princess Margaret. After her father had succeeded
to the throne, she started studying constitutional history and law for preparation for
her future role as queen. ( The Official Site of the British Monarchy ) She also
learned French to use when speaking to ambassadors and heads of state of French
speaking countries, and when visiting French speaking areas. The Queen also studied
extracurricular activities such as art and music. She also learned to ride and became a
strong swimmer, when she was thirteen she won the
The Influence Of Media And Pop Culture On Young Girls
In today s society media and pop culture are heavy influences on girls of all ages.
Everywhere we look there is something claiming to make us happier, look better, and
telling us how we can improve our lifestyles. Young girls to young adults are drawn
to these advertisements. Studies say that girls from the age of thirteen to nineteen are
most vulnerable to the persuasion of the advertisements put out by companies
claiming to help them live a better and more defined life. Magazines such as
Seventeenmagazinetarget young girls using celebrities, visual techniques, and many
other techniques to draw their attention. To be in Style
One technique used by Seventeen is the use of bright colors to drawn in attention.
They use bold, busy colors and fonts contrasted on clean, crisp backgrounds to catch
the young eyes of girls who connect these contrasts with an upbeat style. They use
bold, feminine, sophisticated type fonts to grab the eyes of women. Their headlines
stick out, making themselves the center of attention.
Most of these headlines are fashion centered. They use fashion to appeal to girls
find the best clothes makeup and hairstyles. They make it feel personal by
claiming to know what will work for you and your body type, face shape, and skin
tone. They sell their secrets on how to look great every day. They dress they re
models in clothes that reflect the theme of the magazine. This appeals to the women s
desire to be in style.
Idolization
Another technique they use and one of the most commonly used by Seventeen is
the use of celebrities. Teens often look at celebrities as superhumans. They find
celebrities to look up to. They idolize them, want to be like them. Magazines use
this to their advantage. They plaster the faces of some of the most influential stars
to their front pages claiming to help teens become just like their idol. They make
sure to cover all social platforms from actresses to singer, models, and socialites.
Seventeen has used people such as Sarah Hyland, Maddie Ziegler, Zendaya and
Carrie Underwood. They use these people as marketing tools. These people are seen
in the public eye as credible sources especially by the girls who look up to them.
They try to appeal to the fact
Colorado Creative Music
Colorado Creative Music
A company without a strategic vision is like a fish out of water gasping for air.
This analogy strikes an honest chord with Colorado Creative Music (CCM). In order
for a company to be success in the marketplace, it must have a clear vision statement.
The company must also be founded by core business competencies that will allow the
business to operate flawlessly.
This essay will provide an overview of CCM, a situational analysis, a problem
analysis including analysis of each business function, recommendations for the
company, and a plan for implementing the proposed recommendations.

Another problem for CCM is Skanson is currently the general manager, leading talent
developer, and the leading performer. Skanson spends a majority of his time on tour
promoting his music, which leads to little time for managing the company.
Distribution
Distribution channels are another problem for CCM. CD revenues generated from
performances accounted for approximately 85% of total sales in 2000. Wholesale
revenues were approximately 6% of total sales. Direct mail sales accounted for
approximately 6% of sales, while online sales accounted for a mere 3% of sales.
CCM recognized that the price its wholesalers were charging chain stores was
preventing its music from entering the market.
Financial
Financially, CCM is in distress. The company realized a net profit of $20,626.70 in
1998, but despite additional sales growth and additional years of experience, the
company only realized $4,292.00 in net income in 2000. The company s gross profit
increased steadily form 1997 to 2000, but expenses have also increased steadily.
Technology
CCM isn t technologically up to date. The company is currently operated out of a
large rental house. If CCM wants to grow and attract potential artists and
employees, the company should move into a facility equipped to handle a record
label. If CCM wants to be considered a reputable record label, it needs to have all the
amenities of a recording studio. For

Symbolic Expression Of Cave Paintings
Cave paintings are a fascinating form of symbolic expression. Prior to cave paintings,
homonins had not shown any definitive capacity for imaginative expression. The
notion of cave art may not seem so remarkable, but the ability to think of abstract
concepts and give meaning to ideas is something that distinguishes humans from
other animals. Obviously over time, the purpose of these paintings becomes obscure
and hard to interpret. Our understanding of these cave paintings is based on what
remains at the sites, retrospect, and aside from the relative time frame and context of
when these paintings were done, our interpretations are mostly just speculative. The
cave paintings are generally depicting wild animals, abstract patterns, and human
Abolitionist John Brown
I have, may it please the court, a few words to say. In the first place, I deny
everything but what I have all along admitted the design on my part to free the
slaves. I intended certainly to have made a clean thing of that matter, as I did last
winter when I went into Missouri and there took slaves without the snapping of a
gun on either side, moved them through the country, and finally left them in Canada.
I designed to have done the same thing again on a larger scale. That was what I
intended. I never did intent murder, or treason, or the destruction of property, or to
excite or incite slaves to rebellion, or to make insurrection.(Fanton 82)
These are some of the words spoken by abolitionist John Brown at his trial in Charles
Town, Virginia (now part of West Virginia) following his violent raid at Harper s
Ferry Federal Arsenal in October, 1859 (Fanton 82). John Brown played a vital role
in the anti slavery movement and his actions opened the eyes of a nation that would
become divided in a war of brother against brother. He clearly states his intentions,
but did he really not mean to excite or incite a rebellion among slaves? John Brown
represented the ideals and thoughts of many Americans. John Brown s strong beliefs
on a violent insurrection of the slaves gave rise to the beginning of the Civil War.
John Brown was born on May 9, 1800 in Torrington, Connecticut (McPhail). When
Brown turned five years old, his family moved to Ohio. His parents Owen Brown and

Michael Scott s The Office
The Office was an American television series that ran from 2005 2013 following a
group of office workers in their everyday occurrences and starred actor Steve Carell
as the character Michael Scott . This character was the Regional Manager of the
fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, at a branch located in Scranton,
Pennsylvania. The show is set up to play like a documentary, with a single camera
following the group of about 13 people, relying heavily on dry humor and awkward
situations for laughs. Although fictional, some characters that appear regularly on the
show exhibit fitting examples of human interaction and emotion that can be analyzed
from a psychological standpoint. Michael Gary Scott, born March 15, 1964 in

The Life Drives and Death Drives that Sigmund Freud theorized seem to conflict in
just about every episode for Michael Scott. Whether it is avoiding a decision that
he is obligated to make due to his need to be liked or falling in love with the
woman who modeled for an office chair in a supply catalogue, he is constantly
trying to strike a balance between either satiating his desire to be loved and
reducing his tension. Michael s lack of self awareness show that his unconscious
really does drive his everyday actions, and his repressed feelings of sexuality that
appears in the form of crude jokes mostly directed at his female subordinates.
Michael seems to have no issue with the self confidence that it takes to interject in
everyday conversation but shows insecurity in his absolute need for everyone s
affection, and for most of the series he is single and struggles to retain a romantic
relationship. When he does enter his first romantic relationship in the show, with his
superior, Jan, he is completely fixated with her, imagining his life with her and the
children they will have, even when the relationship would have been considered
casual according to societal standards. These fixations that he has with sex and
women throughout the series would stem from unresolved issues he had during the
psychosexual stages of his adolescence,
Analysis Of Le Corsaire
Le Corsaire is a well known ballet originally choreographed by Joseph Mazilier to
music composed by Adolphe Adam. The ballet was first performed in Paris in
1856 but was made famous by a revival choreographed by Marius Petipa. The
original Le Corsaire, which is based off of the poem titled The Corsair by Lord
Byron. Many individual works from this ballet, such as Le Jardin AnimГ© , the
Pas de Trois des Odalisques , and the Pas de Deux , all of which are in our adaption
of Le Corsaire , are celebrated and performed independently from the full length
work. These excerpts are some of the most widely known and performed excerpts
in classical ballet. Many different ballet companies have performed these works as
well as the ballet in full. After dancing and watching our version of Le Corsaire , I
was interested in learning more about the story behind the movement. After
learning more about the story, I became interested in how the excerpts I have
become familiar with through this course fit to tell this detailed story of a pirate
and a slave woman. In this paper, I will share my interpretation of the story and
how it is shown through our slight variation of Petipa s choreography. First, I
began my research with learning the full story behind the poem and ballet. I will
start by briefly summarizing the story. Traditionally, Le Corsaire is split up into
three acts with five scenes. The ballet begins in a town square setting where slave
girls are being traded. Conrad, the leader, and his group of pirates arrive, and
Conrad immediately falls in love with Medora. Seyd pasha arrives and wants to
buy Medora, but Isaac her slave owner says she is not for sale. After presenting a
large compensation, Seyd Pasha is rewarded the girl, but with chaotic dancing
happening in the square, Conrad is able to leave with Medora. Act II begins with
Conrad showing Medora his hideout. He inhales its aroma and falls into a drugged
sleep. The pirates return to the grotto and attempt to capture Medora. While
struggling, she snatches a dagger and cuts Birbanto s arm. In the confusion,
Lankendem steals Medora back and escapes. Birbanto is about to kill Conrad but is
interrupted by the slave. Stunned and broken hearted, Conrad
The Vietnam War Was An Expensive And Fatal Conflict...
The Vietnam War was an expensive and fatal conflict between the North and South
Vietnam regions. The communist government from the north and their southern
allies, the Viet Cong, were heavily against South Vietnam and their benevolent allies,
the United States. The main purpose of the Vietnam War was to reassemble the
country of Vietnamunder the rule of communism. From the perspective of the Viet
Cong, the conflict against the South and United States seemed as a colonial strife.

In 1956, South Vietnam, along with the help of the Americans, rejected to host

help the South s government, the United States of America deployed 2,000 military
advisors, which later increased to 16,300 advisors in 1963. Due to the run down
military conditions, South Vietnam forfeited the high yielding Mekong delta to the
Viet Cong. Lyndon Johnson, the 36th U.S. president, intensified the war by calling
air strikes on North Vietnam in 1965 and sent ground troops in 1968. I shall not seek,

peace, but the conflict in Vietnam precipitated pain and distress to him during his last

Americans against the conflict. Richard Nixon, the president after Johnson,
recommended Vietnamization, which removed American soldiers and gave South
Vietnam greater responsibilities to fight their own war. In the previous

Research Paper On Saving Private Ryan
Saving Private Ryan Movie Review The movie Saving Private Ryan directed by
Steven Spielberg is probably one of the most exquisite movies to show World War
II. Unlike most war movies Saving Private Ryan does not show what we want to
see but what we need to see. The graphics used to show the horrific effects on war
can drastically put an deep impression in your heart. The movie includes actors
such as Tim Hanks, Matt Damon, and Vin Diesel. When Steven came up with the
idea for the movie he showed interest in the Niland brothers four siblings who all

all supposedly killed in action, leading the army to take actions and bring back the

Monet Essays
Monet
Over the years there have been many respectable artists but one of the most famous
of these artists would have to have been French impressionist Claude Oscar Monet.
Monet was born on Nov. 14, 1840 in Paris, France and started showing an
appreciation for art at an early age. When he was nineteen Monet decided that he
wanted to attend art school and soon after that he entered the studio of Charles Glegre.
While he was there he met and worked with other respectable artists such as Frederic
Bazille, Auguset Renoir, and Alfred Sisley.

In the early 1870 s Monet and other Impressionists were in desperate need to sell
some paintings so in 1874 they decided to appeal directly to the public and had the
first of many Impressionist exhibitions. The shows lasted a month and although it
drew a large crowd not many paintings were actually sold.
As the years progressed so did Monet s technique. By the mid 1880 s he had achieved
much recognition and he was also, finally, financially secure. At the fourth
Impressionist exhibition in 1879, which took place in Paris, there was a huge
turnout and for the time a profit was made. Although a profit had been made Monet
decided not to display his work in the fifth Impressionist exhibition and instead he
submitted two of his works to the Salon. After this move business picked up for
Monet. The owner of the Salon, Georges Petit, purchased three of his
III paintings and in 1880 he had his first one man show. One year later Durand Ruel
signed a contract with Monet, which committed him to purchase a
The Best Survival Knife
Best survival knife can mean a hundred different things but for someone who wants
the best from the most coveted survival tool, you need to be mindful of what you

who like to explore the wild. A survival knife makes way for increased safety and
security and works out to be that one tool that you can bet your life on. That said
buying the overly hyped best survival knifeas claimed by marketers is not always the
best thing to do.
When it comes down to making a purchase for your personal use, you have to be

Only when you make a close observation, can you point out subtle differences in the
knife you think is the best and the knife that is actually the best. A good knife has a
strong and sturdy design. It may not seem to be visually appealing to you but looks
are the last thing you should expect in a good knife.
A conventional design with a few functional upgrades here and there is always a
safe choice to make. The first thing you should look for in the knife is its structure
when you are assessing the design. There are knifes that claim to bring a lot of
convenience by way of flexible design like the swivel blade knifes but these don t
quite last. A knife with a traditional design and a good grip is good enough to be
tagged as the best survival knife. Of course, there are other prerequisites too and
these, we are going to discuss
Difference Between Teenagers And Modern Teenagers
Compare and contrast the lifestyles of Thai teenagers, past and present
Today s teenagers are different from the past teenagers because of the time and the
prosperity of the technology. In the past, there was little equipment and technology,
so they had to try their best to do the routines. But nowadays, I think that technology
makes routines easier than before like listening to music, games and photography.
The difference between listening to the music in the past and current. In the past,
about the year 1990, Thailand was not very technologically advanced. Equipment
related to electronics was expensive. If they wanted to collect the songs of their
famous singer, they needed to buy a cassette of the album. Even though they only
liked one song, they had to buy the whole album. Each tape was expensive. When a
singer made a new song, they needed to buy more. And if they brought only the tape,
they could not listen to the music. They needed a tape player that came with a radio
which was more expensive than tape. If teens did not have enough money to buy,
they have to call the dj on the radio so that they can play it through the radio.
Currently they just use the phone and listen to music. If they like that music, they can
buy only that song. Or they can listen to music on the Internet as YouTube or 4share,
and they can download it when there is no Internet without paying.
The current game is more realistic than old games. In the 1990s. The games had
been designed for the fun of the players. The story of the games did not focus
much. The story was to help the girl or queen to return to the peace like Mario, etc.
Also, players tried to play the game to finish and watch the scene. The games were
2D image with a side view. At present, this view is greatly reduced. The games in the
past were not focused on the story, but the games were very focused on gameplay.
Old games were fun and also very difficult. To find people through was very difficult.
Sometimes, they brought a summary of the game to pass the game. But with the
technology of the past, they could not be create games like reality, so they created
the game character as in the cartoon. There were not many effects in the game. They
made the games with almost no
The Problem With Saying All Lives Matter By Darnell

It is my opinion that #AllLivesMatter is a morally inappropriate response to
#BlacklivesMatter. In the short video The problem with saying All Lives Matter
presented by Darnell Moore, he states When people who say # AllLivesMatter, what
they are really saying is the lives of those impacted by racismand xenophobia matter
only rhetorically, it feels good to say it, but it is actually harmful because it ignores
the ways people are devalued or killed base on their race, ethnicity, or gender. To be

Textual Analysis Of Due South
The Canadian television series Due South will be subjected to a textual analysis
with the goal of figuring out if this show represents Canada and Canadian aspects.
Due South is a crime series created by Paul Haggis and produced by Alliance
Communications. The show follows the adventures of an officer of the Royal
Canadian Mounted Policeand his partner from the Chicago Police Department. The
show falls under the genre of both comedy and drama. The character Benton Fraser
(played by Paul Gross), who is the Canadian Mountie, embodies key characteristics
and stereotypes of a typical RCMP officer. The same can be said for Raymond
Vecchio (played by David Marciano) who evidently embodies common stereotypes
associated with a Chicago police officer.
Essay On Texas Local Government
Chapter ten focuses on Texas local government and why it is such a huge deal. The
local government is closer and highly responsive to citizens than the state and the
federal government. They provide water, public education, and other services. Over
the years, Texas is rapidly becoming more diverse which creates a greater demand for
more representation in the local government. The top five cities have diverse city
councils. It does make a difference when a city s council does not reflect the city s
population. San Antonio s city council best reflects the racial/ethnic composition of
its population. Sadly, Houston s council diverges the most from its city s racial/ethnic
composition. They have five members of the council who are white, but the largest
race in their population are Latinos (Champagne, Harpham, Casellas 339). I do think
it is crucial for the city councils to reflect the racial/ethnic composition of their

Special districts are popping up all over. Texashas a lot of special districts because
they are easy to organize and operate. Special districts solve problems that already

almost do anything you can think of, as long as it is legal (Champagne, Harpham,

and hospital care (Siegel). I feel like cities and counties shouldn t do the jobs that
special districts do even though they both exercise the same powers. Special
districts are more hands on and tailored to their counties. Every county has different
concerns and needs. Cities and counties do not do the jobs that special districts do
because taxes make it harder for them to provide services citizens want. The amount

Anasazi Disappearance
The History and the Disappearance of the Anasazi Introduction: My topic is the
history and the disappearance of the Anasazi. I chose this topic because I am from
Colorado and we visited Mesa Verde on school trips. I find the Anasazi culture
interesting and doing research on them seemed like it would be enjoyable.
`The Anasazi populated the four corners area of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and
Arizona. They became independent somewhere between 200 and 500 A.D. and
disappeared 1100 years later leaving behind many remains. There are many theories
about what could have happened to the Anasazi but the speculation with the strongest
evidence is that they scattered due to drought and decreased resources. Despite their

The article Riddles of the Anasazi states Using data from tree rings, researchers
know that a terrible drought seized the Southwest from 1276 to 1299; it is possible
that in certain areas there was virtually no rain at all during those 23 years. No rain
for 23 years would be a justified reason for them to find other places to live. The
Anasazi also chopped down many trees for beams and firewood which lead to
deforestation. There is also evidence of an even longer drought from the years 1130
to 1180 which shows that they were strong enough to withstand droughts before. It
doesn t make sense for them to last through a 50 year drought then leave because of
a 23 year drought therefore it is still a mystery what caused them to leave. The
evidence isn t strong enough to know if this is why they left for certain but there is
more evidence that supports this is than any other reason for their

Business and Its Environment
Introduction
 Every business organization has to interact and transact with its
„environment‟.  The effectiveness of interaction of an enterprise with its
environment primarily determines the success or failure of a business.
 The environment imposes several „constraints‟ on an enterprise and has a
considerable impact and influence on the scope and direction of its activities. The
enterprise, on the other hand, has very little control over its environment.  The
business environment presents two challenges to the enterprise, viz., the challenge to
combat the environmental threats (such as intensification of competition, declining

 The diversity also means that, although there are common elements in the
business environment, each business operates in an environment that is, to some
extent, unique.
Thinking about the business environment Eight key themes
 Internal/external the environment is both inside and outside organisations.
Internal: „controllable‟ | External: „uncontrollable‟
 Business organisations is not really a single, unified entity but is internally
differentiated.  Managers within business, to be effective, have to deal with both
the internal and external environment.  The ability of an organization to operate
successfully within its external environment depends, in large part, on the
effectiveness of internal systems and procedures.  The internal environment has to
be managed and adapted to the demands and opportunities of the external
environment.
 Important internal factors: organizational resources; R D and technological
capabilities; financial capability; marketing capability;
Nisbett s Confidential IQ
I believe that by saying IQ is natural, this means that a person is either born smart or
not born smart and that there is nothing that can be done to improve or derail that IQ
intelligence, which comes naturally to someone. In contract, by saying that IQ is
socially constructed means that there are many factors that can help improve a
person s IQ but this also means that there are many factors that can hinder the
development of a person s intelligential IQ as well.
2)How is IQ influenced by what takes place at the familial level?
IQ is influenced by what takes place at the familial level because it can either
nurture a person s thirst for knowledge or become a barrier for them, if there is no
one there to help or praise that persons efforts ... Show more content on

The book suggests that it would be hard for a poor family to change their
behaviors. I agree with this opinion because if a poor family had the time and
skills to talk and read to their children more often, I believe they would already be
doing those things. Nisbett also suggests involving children in adult conversions,
but I think that could be a doubled edged sword for a poor child. As the adult
conversions a poor child would be involved in would probably be much more
depressing for them than that of their middle class counterpart, perhaps a discussion
as to whether the family will have enough money to pay the rent. In comparison to
that of a middle to upper class family, which would probably discuss where they
will be vacationing over spring break, what stock they will be invest in, or how
much they are saving in their college funds. This difference I believe is the reason
why poor families chose not to involve their children in adult conversions and why
their behaviors would be very difficult to change.
4)Why do you think Nisbett s ideas might be popular with the kinds of people who

Murderball Reflection
The movie Murderball, is a documentary about the crazy sport called quad rugby .
This sport can be very dangerous to most of the players since they are Quadriplegia
which means most of the players are wheel chair bounded and have partial or total
loss of use of all their limbs and torso. That doesn t stop the players who strive for
the intensity, and thrill of the game of rugby. The movie goes into detail about how
the main characters became quadriplegic, some were born with an illness, other
became quadriplegic from horrible accidents. However, their disabilitydoes not stop
them from striving to be amazing athletes, and pursuing gold medal in the Olympics.
The movie was very inspiring and educational at the same time. The movie ... Show

to be eligible to play Wheelchair Rugby, individuals must have a disability which
affects the arms and legs. Most players have spinal cord injuries with full or partial
paralysis of the legs and partial paralysis of the arms. Other disability groups who
play include cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, amputations, polio, and other
neurological conditions. Men and women compete on the same teams and in the
same competitions. Players are assigned a sport classification based on their level of
disability; teams must field players with a mix of classification values, allowing
players with different functional abilities to compete together.
The sport is dangerous, but to this sports gives the athletes a purpose, a reason to
continue living and not being depressed. Being a part of the team gives them so
much more than just playing a sport. These athletes chose a different path than what
we normally see in individuals who become quadriplegic, they chose to continue
living and despite the sadness they found a new happiness They didn t think they
would feel again. I also feel that this sports has helped most of the athletes with their
emotional stability. It takes a great strength and endurance to compete the way these
athletes do. Being a part of the team has helped their daily life. These athletes have
become very independent; they drive themselves to practice they live on their own.
As a special educator, I value this movie for students with disabilities

Grading Essays. 004 Grading Essays Essay Rubric University Best Images About College ...

  • 1. Grading Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Grading Essays" presents a unique set of challenges that often mirror the complexities inherent in the topic itself. The irony of evaluating the process of evaluating written work is not lost on the writer. To delve into the nuances of grading essays, one must navigate through a labyrinth of perspectives, theories, and practical considerations. Firstly, grappling with the inherent subjectivity in grading becomes a prominent hurdle. The diverse range of writing styles, interpretations, and the elusive nature of a standardized rubric make it challenging to establish a universally fair assessment system. The very act of assigning numerical or letter grades to something as nuanced as written expression raises questions about the efficacy of such evaluations in truly capturing the essence of a student's abilities. Additionally, the ever-evolving landscape of education and technology introduces another layer of complexity. With the rise of automated grading systems, the essay explores the delicate balance between efficiency and the loss of the human touch in assessing creativity and critical thinking. The essay must tread carefully to analyze the impact of technology on grading methods without succumbing to a simplistic narrative of either celebration or skepticism. Moreover, addressing the broader implications of grading essays involves delving into societal expectations and the pressure placed on both students and educators. The essay must navigate the intricate web of societal standards, academic competitiveness, and the impact of grades on students' self-esteem, all while maintaining a balanced and unbiased perspective. In conclusion, penning an essay on the intricacies of grading essays demands a delicate dance between objectivity and subjectivity, grappling with the evolving nature of education, and navigating the societal implications tied to the grading process. The challenge lies not only in analyzing the multifaceted aspects of grading but also in presenting a comprehensive and coherent narrative that captures the essence of this intricate topic. • 2. Bine Drinking Boy Advert Analysis 1) Alcohol is indirectly portrayed as being detrimental and destructive in both adverts. In the Binge Drinking boy advert, the boy rips his clothing, pours food on himself, shaves his eyebrows, rips his earring out of his ear, and knocks his head on the mirror. As the water flows through the gills of the fish the lamellae gains oxygen in order for the fish to have efficient gas exchange. Because fish live in the water and not land it is impossible to breathe (inhale/exhale) that s why they have gills as their main gas exchange organ, unlike mammals with lungs and worms with skin. Fish excrete in the sea which is important for the ecosystem. An advantage for fish is that the blood flows through the lamellae in the opposite direction to the water flow so their gas exchange process is not interrupted while gas is exhaled. There is also no dead space in the gills as most water that passes over the gills o2 is diffused into the fish blood. Fish have rich blood supply to gills and are highly vascularised. The fish have numerous folds to the gill structure which increases the surface area so efficient gas exchange. Mammal Sheep Comparisons: a tracheal system in mammals would be too heavy as lungs would require large amounts of water to extract sufficient oxygen, both fish and worms have high vascularised blood vessels. Mammals, worms and fish breathe oxygen but in different ways e.g. skin, gills and lung. Fish, sheep and worms have large surface are to volume ratio to get efficient gas exchange. They all have different habits which make them favourable in their own species as worms can survive in soil unlike mammals and fish, fish can survive in water unlike

Nervous System And Reward Pathway Running head: NERVOUS SYSTEM AND REWARD PATHWAY Nervous System and Reward Pathway Jason Otero CCRI Warwick Abstract This research paper is a compilation of information gathered during lectures and through the web on the Nervous System and the Reward Pathway. This paper examines the structure of these systems, their discovery and the effects that drugs have on influencing these systems and how addictions are formed. Nervous System and Reward Pathway The nervous system is broken down into two parts, The Central Nervous System and the Peripheral Nervous System. Each System has its own function but works together to engage the brain and body in all aspects of life such as bodily functions, sensory processing, learning, reasoning, creativity, experiences and emotions. Looking further into the nervous system is where neurons and neurotransmitters come into play. This system of neurotransmission is responsible for ensuring that the Central Nervous System and the Peripheral Nervous system communicate effectively. Sending and receiving messages about the body internally and externally. Part of this process called neurotransmission includes our desires and motivations, which we can relate to as the rewards pathway. Located in the center of the brain the rewards pathway can be affected by natural and necessary pleasures as well as the behaviors surrounding pleasure from unnaturally occurring pleasures such as drugs, or other addictive activities. The California Drought and the Proper Allocation of Water Resources Intro: The state of California is in the midst of a five year drought. The results of which are beginning to reek havoc on the state s municipalities, farms and wetland habitats. If the state continues as is supporting in thirsty agricultural industries, towns and cities at current levels, not only will this exacerbate already tenuous water supply problem within the state it will have ripple affects throughout the South West. Surrounding states will have to adopt even more stringent restriction for farms, cities and industries which may have further calamitous economic results. However, the most difficult questions like proper allocation or modifying water rights have yet to be answered and likely will not be resolved before California s water situation worsens. Last April standing in front of a snowpack at just 5% of normal levels, Governor Jerry Brown declared the drought in California has reached a crisis level and instituted state wide water restriction for towns, cities and municipalities. He called for a 25% reduction of water usage by urging Californians flush less, take shorter showers, and let lawns turn brown. Although agriculture accounts for roughly 80% (Northern California Water Association) of all human consumption of water this industry was exempted any restriction by the governor. With a drought which shows no sign of letting up, powerful farm and environmental lobbies, difficult to

Selective colleges, in general, are more stringent than they were in the past by the recruiting process. Passion for community service is a vital indicator for recruiting. They desire students who strongly dedicate themselves to volunteer with something that coincides with their interests or major. However, mandatory volunteering generates a belief that community service is a hindrance and a deliberate waste of time towards obtaining a diploma. The embodiment of community service diminishes as these educational institutions continue to exercise their power to regulate civic engagement. The Origin Of Life Arose From Earth Oparin hypothesized that the origin of life arose from Earth in its primitive state, these conditions allowed the production of inorganic molecules, which slowly transitioned into organic substances (RF). The temperature of the earth would have also been several hundred degrees high to initiate changes in hydrocarbons, correlating with Paneth s experiment (high temperatures to facilitate the breaking of hydrocarbons into free radicals) (RF) and Russell and Hall s model. According to Russell and Hall s model, life emerged in hot, reduced, basic and sulfuric waters opposed with colder, more oxidized, iron bearing water. (Russell and Hall) They proposed the origin of life would have taken place in the deep Hadean ocean floor. The difference between acidity, temperatures and redox potential of the waters would have facilitated a gradient of pH, temperature and redox potential, becoming sustainable over geological time scales, providing the continuity for conditions that were favourable to organic chemical reactions required for the origin of life. Prior to cave paintings, homonins had not shown any definitive capacity for imaginative expression. The notion of cave art may not seem so remarkable, but the ability to think of abstract concepts and give meaning to ideas is something that distinguishes humans from other animals. Obviously over time, the purpose of these paintings becomes obscure and hard to interpret. Our understanding of these cave paintings is based on what remains at the sites, retrospect, and aside from the relative time frame and context of when these paintings were done, our interpretations are mostly just speculative. The cave paintings are generally depicting wild animals, abstract patterns, and human
  • 32. Abolitionist John Brown I have, may it please the court, a few words to say. In the first place, I deny everything but what I have all along admitted the design on my part to free the slaves. I intended certainly to have made a clean thing of that matter, as I did last winter when I went into Missouri and there took slaves without the snapping of a gun on either side, moved them through the country, and finally left them in Canada. I designed to have done the same thing again on a larger scale. That was what I intended. I never did intent murder, or treason, or the destruction of property, or to excite or incite slaves to rebellion, or to make insurrection.(Fanton 82) These are some of the words spoken by abolitionist John Brown at his trial in Charles Town, Virginia (now part of West Virginia) following his violent raid at Harper s Ferry Federal Arsenal in October, 1859 (Fanton 82). John Brown played a vital role in the anti slavery movement and his actions opened the eyes of a nation that would become divided in a war of brother against brother. He clearly states his intentions, but did he really not mean to excite or incite a rebellion among slaves? John Brown represented the ideals and thoughts of many Americans. John Brown s strong beliefs on a violent insurrection of the slaves gave rise to the beginning of the Civil War. John Brown was born on May 9, 1800 in Torrington, Connecticut (McPhail). When Brown turned five years old, his family moved to Ohio. His parents Owen Brown and Ruth

  • 34. Analysis Of Le Corsaire Le Corsaire is a well known ballet originally choreographed by Joseph Mazilier to music composed by Adolphe Adam. The ballet was first performed in Paris in 1856 but was made famous by a revival choreographed by Marius Petipa. The original Le Corsaire, which is based off of the poem titled The Corsair by Lord Byron. Many individual works from this ballet, such as Le Jardin AnimГ© , the Pas de Trois des Odalisques , and the Pas de Deux , all of which are in our adaption of Le Corsaire , are celebrated and performed independently from the full length work. These excerpts are some of the most widely known and performed excerpts in classical ballet. Many different ballet companies have performed these works as well as the ballet in full. After dancing and watching our version of Le Corsaire , I was interested in learning more about the story behind the movement. After learning more about the story, I became interested in how the excerpts I have become familiar with through this course fit to tell this detailed story of a pirate and a slave woman. In this paper, I will share my interpretation of the story and how it is shown through our slight variation of Petipa s choreography. First, I began my research with learning the full story behind the poem and ballet. I will start by briefly summarizing the story. Traditionally, Le Corsaire is split up into three acts with five scenes. The ballet begins in a town square setting where slave girls are being traded. Conrad, the leader, and his group of pirates arrive, and Conrad immediately falls in love with Medora. Seyd pasha arrives and wants to buy Medora, but Isaac her slave owner says she is not for sale. After presenting a large compensation, Seyd Pasha is rewarded the girl, but with chaotic dancing happening in the square, Conrad is able to leave with Medora. Act II begins with Conrad showing Medora his hideout. He inhales its aroma and falls into a drugged sleep. The pirates return to the grotto and attempt to capture Medora. While struggling, she snatches a dagger and cuts Birbanto s arm. In the confusion, Lankendem steals Medora back and escapes. Birbanto is about to kill Conrad but is interrupted by the slave. Stunned and broken hearted, Conrad

Difference Between Teenagers And Modern Teenagers Compare and contrast the lifestyles of Thai teenagers, past and present Today s teenagers are different from the past teenagers because of the time and the prosperity of the technology. In the past, there was little equipment and technology, so they had to try their best to do the routines. But nowadays, I think that technology makes routines easier than before like listening to music, games and photography. The difference between listening to the music in the past and current. In the past, about the year 1990, Thailand was not very technologically advanced. Equipment related to electronics was expensive. If they wanted to collect the songs of their famous singer, they needed to buy a cassette of the album. Even though they only liked one song, they had to buy the whole album. Each tape was expensive. When a singer made a new song, they needed to buy more. And if they brought only the tape, they could not listen to the music. They needed a tape player that came with a radio which was more expensive than tape. If teens did not have enough money to buy, they have to call the dj on the radio so that they can play it through the radio. Currently they just use the phone and listen to music. If they like that music, they can buy only that song. Or they can listen to music on the Internet as YouTube or 4share, and they can download it when there is no Internet without paying. The current game is more realistic than old games. In the 1990s. The games had been designed for the fun of the players. The story of the games did not focus much. The story was to help the girl or queen to return to the peace like Mario, etc. Also, players tried to play the game to finish and watch the scene. The games were 2D image with a side view. At present, this view is greatly reduced. The games in the past were not focused on the story, but the games were very focused on gameplay. Old games were fun and also very difficult. To find people through was very difficult. Sometimes, they brought a summary of the game to pass the game. But with the technology of the past, they could not be create games like reality, so they created the game character as in the cartoon. There were not many effects in the game.
