Flight 800 Research Papers
We all get a little scared when we step on to a plane. All we want is to get from destination to the other
without any complications. Four hundred and and sixty nine people probably wanted the same thing.
In 1996 twohundred and thirty people died on a flight that exploded a few minutes after taking off. In
2014 twohundred and thirtynine are presumed dead on a flight that is still missing to this day. So the
question is what really happened to these flights? In 1996 Trans World Airlines flight 800 was in route
Rome with a stopover in Paris, when it exploded only twelve minutes after take off. The accident
report states that the cause of the explosion was from the center wing fuel tank which resulted from a
ignition of a flammable fuel/air mixture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An air traffic controler shares what he saw on that day in 1996 I thought it was a landing light, but
then it headed straight for the plan, and then the plane blew. (Nita Hiltner). James Sanders, the author
of the The Downing Of TWA flight 800, has spent the last 18 years investigating this event, he
recently announced that the flight was brought down accidentally by two missiles fired from a Navy
Vessel and/or submarine that were in the area to intercept a smaller plane involved in a plot to bring
down the commercial flight . A cover up by the FBI and the NTSB (National Transportation Safety
Board) was extensive, involving intimidation of witnesses and investigators, tampering with evidence,
false testimony before Congress, censoring reports, and numerous violations of protocols. Some of the
government s own official investigators said that the explosions occurred outside the airplane. They
were permitted to testify with that evidence. A piece of metal from a destroyed or missing plane can
tell a big story. Early last year detectives were brought to the attention of a piece of scrap washed up
on the Reunion Island in early July. Could this be a link to finding missing flight MH 370? In the

County Council Meeting Reflection
The County council meeting that I attended was all I thought it would be, minus the crazy person that
I was promised. The county council meeting was facilitated by a group of white men and women with
very few if any minorities in attendance. The council appeared to be very dry leaving me questioning
why this was so important. However, shortly after settling in for the long hall it clicked, and I was able
to make the connection to my Political Science 1100 course, and how exactly the county council
meeting fit into the bigger picture of government and its importance. The county council much like the
State legislative bodies addressed various topics and issues related to the county and sought ways to
address them. Although it was very dull,

The Effects Of Global Warming On Our Future On A Hotter...
Throughout the 21st, global warming rates have increased by unprecedented amounts. As the Earth s
changing climate becomes a pertinent issue for nature and human society, climate scientists continue
to predict the effects that rising temperatures will have on the whole planet in the future. Notably, in
2008, environmental activist Mark Lynas examined aspects of global warming, like rising sea levels,
natural disasters, and overall temperature changes in his book Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter
Planet. Lynas considers state of the art research to assess the degree by degree forecast for the 21st
century. While Lynas and climate scientists agree that global warming is underway, Lynas tends to be
overstated in his predictions about the earth s future, which cannot be justified based on current
evidence from climate scientists. Contemporary climate scientists agree that global warming is a
critical concern in the 21st century: rising sea levels and increasing temperatures ranging from 1 to 6
degrees Celsius are harming Earth s physical, ecological, and social conditions. Lower temperature
predictions estimate that ocean surfaces have warmed .3 to .6 degrees Celsius over the past 100 years
(Houghton). While these numbers seem insignificant, they are rising rapidly over time. Fore example,
the warmest 30 year period in the last 1400 years lasted from 1938 to 2012, resulting in temperatures
.65 to 1.06 degrees warmer than previous averages. The impact of this warm period

The Three Stooges Disorder In The Court Slot Review
About The Three Stooges Disorder In The Court
The Three Stooges Disorder In The Court has been created by NuWorks software, and is one of
several Three Stooges themed video slots doing the rounds on the net. The game features a truly
irritating, annoying, and frustrating audio track which you cannot turn off. It is enough to drive a
person crazy, not unlike the original show, as it happens. The slot itself is officially licensed, and
contains real imagery and graphics from the cult classic. This slot is played over 5 reels, but there are
only 5 lines to bet on. Line bets range from a low of 0.01 up to 0.25, and that means your total stake
will range from 0.01 per line, per spin, up to 1.25 per spin. At most 333x your total bet can be won in
this slot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The wild can only appear on the third reel, and counts for all other symbols in the game. The prize is
tripled if The Three Stooges wild appears in a win.

can nudge the first reel if he appears on it, whilst Moe and Curly can nudge the second and third reels
if they do, respectively.

My Career Pl Paulo Coelho
My Career Plan
As Paulo Coelho puts it, When you want something, the entire universe conspires in helping you to
achieve it . The moment I read this line in the book The Alchemist, I thought it did not make any
sense. However, I later realized that what this quote means for me is that when I decide what I want, I
just go for it. It took me some time to realize I wanted to be an accountant. I first had to learn about
my weaknesses and strengths before knowing what career was right for me. My love for number,
attention to details among other strengths made me conclude that forensic accountancy is the prefer
career. It is a long way before I become one and I still don t have the details of where I want to work
five years from now nor what specific role. In these regard, I am very open minded. In order to detail
my career plan, it is important to mention where I am today, how I decided to choose forensic
accountancy, and where I want to be in five years.
Where do I stand today in my career path?
I am a first generation immigrant and college student. I received my associate s degree of accounting
in New Jersey at Hudson County Community College in December of 2014. I transferred to Pitt in the
fall of 2015. Then, the spring of 2016, I transferred to the College of Business Administration, where I
officially resumed my bachelor s degree in accounting. I intend on becoming a forensic accountant,
but to do so, I need to at least be a Certified Public Accountant and gain extensive

Who Is A Gladiator
There are many positive scenes in this movie for example, when Emperor Marcus Aurelius decided
that he wanted to name Maximus as the new Emperor instead of his own son. Maximus was a great
Gladiator, he fought well, and was a loyal friend. Another positive for me was when Maximus
avenged his family, he died in the end but was able to be with his wife and son in afterlife like in his
visions. When Commodus decided to kill his father Emperor Aurelius to become Emperor himself was
a negative part of the movie. When Emperor Aurelius was killed, Maximums was taken to Zucchabar
were he was sold. Commodus became the new Emperor and attempted to kill Gladiator Maximus s
many times throughout the movie. I enjoyed this film from start to finish and ... Show more content on

There are many scenes were Maximus is fighting for his life and the intense music made those scenes
nerve wracking. The sad scenes had the sensitive music in the background which made everything
more dramatic to a point where I caught myself tearing up. I categorize the movie to be mostly drama,
so I found the music to be a combination of intense, dramatic, and suspenseful.
I completely felt like I was viewing the time period being shown in the movie. The costumes were
great, and fit everyone s role perfectly. The costumes for the Gladiators included armor and the cape, a
helmet, a sword, and a shield. This is all the equipment needed for a Gladiator to survive and defend
himself. The costumes for the Lucilla and Commodus were appropriate for their role in the movie as
well. They were the high class people in the movie so they wore big coats and expensive clothing with
a lot of layers.
The film was well photographed and the visuals were good. The scene were Maximus has visions of
his wife and son waiting for him in an open field with a long road was well photographed. I also
enjoyed the visual Maximus looking at the chained tiger in one of his fights. Finally, I thought the
scene were Commodus made a raw facial expression with his tongue out because of all the blood
when the Barbarians fought the Gladiators was well

Old Major Role
This section will be about the main characters of the novel, each of them plays a great role and makes
the Animal Farm one of the Orwell s best works. The main characters of the novel are: Old Major who
represents Marx and Lenin, Napoleon representing Joseph Stalin, Snowball Leon Trotsky, Squealer
the Soviet Propaganda Pravda, and Boxer who represents the working class.
Old Major
Even though Old Major only appears briefly in the beginning of the novel, he has a significant role in

the view of humans as worthless creature

Old Major is twelve years old, and during his life he has seen many injustices done against animals, so
he knows what humans are like, and during his lecture to the other animals he declares his hatred for

relationship that exists between animals and humans its included in the dire warning that he gives to
animals:

the prosperity of the others. It is all lies. Man serves the interests of no creature except himself. And

Obama s Victory
There is no doubt that race was a factor in Obama s victory but many other factors appear to hold
more weight. I struggle to believe that a president can win over a majority of votes with the key factor
being their race. There were many factors that Obama influenced himself as well as other factors that
helped him win and many, while they may have been influenced by race, don t have a direct
correlation.
The Obama campaign was incredibly innovative and different to McCain s for a number of reasons.
One of the main factors that contributed to his victory was the original way he raised finance for the
campaign. By fundraising 57% of the campaign through donations smaller than $200 made online,
Obama was able to raise a staggering $745 million. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obama was the figurehead for change and with 62% of America believing that it was on the wrong
track he harnessed voters looking for reform and therefore made him a more attractive candidate.
McCain s association with Bush in the initial stages of the election made him unpopular as we can see
from his approval ratings when leaving office which were 30%. It is clear that it was a deciding factor
with 90% of Obama s voters thinking that McCain s policies were an extension of Bushes . McCain
was also the republican representative which already severely reduced his chances because it was very
unlikely that a republican nominee would be elected three terms in a row. These factors have nothing
to do with race and were arguably some of the most significant factors to his win. Additionally, there
was no comparison between vice president nominees Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. While it was an
attempt to compliment McCain the choice of Sarah Palin undermined the republican image and 60%
of the US saw her as unqualified and was publically ridiculed in the press and on shows like Saturday
night live. There was no comparison between her and Joe Biden and her inability to hold her own in
debates and interviews discredited the whole republican nomination. This factor, again, has nothing to
do with race but a failure on the opposition s part to select a nominee that was comparable to Biden.

The second application, like the first, included promotional material making the extravagant claim that

Grave Devine Musical Elements
In the CD by Toutes Suites, the aesthetically pleasing sounds of the Baroque time period are
revitalized with their distinctive beauty and variety in tone color, tempo, and rhythm. The CD features
sonatas whose first movements are all relatively similar in mood. The second movements hold to that
same likeness, although the mood portrays a slightly more calm feeling as the sonata continues. From
beginning to end, the prime factor that distinguishes one from the other is the rhythm, and to be more
specific the tempo. While listening to the pieces and feeling the movement of how the song flows, you
can distinguish the rapidity or slowness of the tempo. Respectively, each track has its own uniqueness
and different tones that separate the pieces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This creates an darker and gloomy mood compared to the other tracks. Sadness could be another word
to describe how the music flows throughout the piece. The composer creates a feeling that the mood is
felt by using imitative polyphony with several instruments to amplify and reinstate the repetition of
the somber tone. This track is also accompanied by the half and quarter notes that are played on the
violin and strengthened by the double manual harpsichord. Track 14, titled Grave Vivace Andante is
the first and second movements of a sonata, as indicated by the terms Vivace commonly used to
identify the first movement and the word Andante used to identify the second movement. Track 14
compared to track 3 share some similarities, even though it is moving towards a more upbeat
experience because of its fast tempo and upbeat rhythm. While introducing the beginning stages of the
piece the listener can unquestionably hear that it has a remarkably higher scale compared to track 3. It
is whimsically accentuated with the use of several 1/16th notes on the higher instruments that draw the
listeners attention to the mesmerizing rapidity and happy mood that the instruments bring to life.

Day 1: My day started as any other day. We all got on the plane, on our way too a place, I forgot the
name. Then the next thing, the plane was in flames and we crashed on the island. I was climbing this

bunch of other boys crowded around him. We all introduced ourselves and three of us when off to find
food. I was with Ralph and Simon, this boy, Piggy, wanted to come but I told him no. We found a pig,
I was so close to killing it. I was choosing a place, said Jack. I was just waiting for a moment to decide

so proud of myself. I finally killed that darn pig. When we got to the fire on the hilltop, guess who was

didn t eat a piece, I threw a piece at him. I started yelling at all boys because I gave them food and
they didn t eat. After I calmed down a bit, the hunting group started to reenact the killing of our pig. I

can do it. Ralph doesn t want me to be chief, he thinks that is a bad idea because I m too reckless and,

Deconstructing the clock Essay
Summary
Ever since the dawn of civilization we have observed time by its natural occurrence and we also relied
on man made primitive tools to measure time. In the beginning, time has always been a natural event,
for example, sunrise to sunset but men s earlier primitive tools to measure time were inaccurate and
were only an approximate indicator, hence often unreliable such as the hour glass.
We became enslaved by the concept of time; our society is controlled by this mechanical device which
dictates our schedule accordingly. Time has evolved from a simple method of nature into a measurable
product which can be sold and bought. The industrial capitalism owes its existence to the concept of
time, without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Times have progress during 1657 when they introduced the pendulum clock which was sufficient
enough to attain accuracy to have the minute hands and eventually the second hands on the 18th
century. These two last centuries has been crucial for the development of the clock ...capitalism grew
to such extent that it was able to take advantage of the techniques of the industrial revolution to
establish its economic domination over society (Woodcock 883).
The clock has so much influence on our society, according to Lewis Mumford, an American
philosopher, historian, and teacher ...the key machine of the machine age, both for its influence on
technics and for its influence on the habits of men (Woodcock 883). This automatic device has
attained massive public importance on our social function and daily lives. The radical influence by this
device is apparent, it was the means of control ...regularization and regimentation of life necessary for
an exploiting system of industry could be assured (Woodcock 884). We became so much dependent
and rabidly time conscious. We became like clocks, we developed a routine and a conscious schedule
demoralizing our regimentation. We let the clock set our lives it s about time to apply the true function
of the clock as a means of reference and co ordination. Men should be free from such dominating
regulation Complete liberty implies freedom from the tyranny of abstraction

The Tragedy Of My Uncle Khaled And The Gulf War Of 1990-91
The Tragedy of My Uncle Khaled and the Gulf War of 1990 91 In his chapter from On Writing Well
dealing with family history, author William Zinsser has written, Writers are the custodians of memory.
(281) This means that those who write preserve history. I hope to accomplish this here by
remembering my late uncle Khaled s experience of the Iraqi invasion, and occupation of, my native
country of Kuwait. In doing such a nonfiction assignment, it is important to recall something else

One could even add Syria, a violent enemy of Iraq. This was the normal opinion held by Kuwaitis for
as long as the first two weeks of Iraqi occupation. The opinion increased or decreased in intensity with
statements made at Arab League meetings for and against the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, as well as
strong public denunciations by foreign nations (especially the U.S.) of the invasion or less passionate,
neutral, comments made by other countries (particularly China). As the end of the first month of the
occupation approached with no action taken by the Arab League, nor anyone else, my uncle s opinion
changed along with everyone else s in our tiny country. When he would visit us he would still appear
at least partially optimistic, commenting that The world does not seem ready to take action yet, but it
will. In the meantime, the Iraqis will tire of this game soon enough and leave. Here, again, the
opposite seemed true. As time passed, the Iraqis appeared only to increase the presence of their forces
in Kuwait. Whereas Iraqi forces at first had seemed more scattered in numbers throughout the
neighborhoods of the capital city, perhaps as only smaller squads of men, by the second month they
massed in human blocks that grew in size to companies, or even battalions, of troops.

Technological Change Moves Faster Than Bureaucracy
Technological change moves much faster than bureaucracy, and it is the patent office that must bear
the collision of novelty and government for anyone who wishes to profit from their genius must go
there to have their constitutional right to the proceeds from it verified. Exactly what technology can be
patented in this day and age, as our bodies and proteins become subject to technology themselves, is
indeed in need of some clarification. Today scientific advances allow us to look into the deepest codes
that create our bodies our genes. With a small sample scientists can isolate the miniscule structure of

Smith Pharmaceuticals is one of these corporations. Over several years, they spent hundreds of
millions of dollars on research perfecting the method to synthesize and analyze cDNA complementary
DNA in the genes LIF and LCK. Mutations in these two genes, as Smith discovered, correlated with
and were highly indicative of an increased risk of leukemia. Smith filed a patent on these genes and
the process of the diagnostic test, and has since benefited over one million potential leukemia patients
with a diagnostic that allows them to take preemptive strikes against the disease the average cost of
leukemia in the Netherlands is $104,386 (de Uyl et al.), and one treatment in the United States costs
$178,000 (Chen), while Smith s test is under $4000, and usually insurance eligible under new Federal
law, qualifying as preventative care. As the Economist puts it succinctly, the point of a patent is to
encourage innovation by giving inventors a limited period of exclusive control over the fruits of their
labour, (April 2013). Smith invested these large sums into identifying this gene under the assumption
that it would make profit off of these tests due to its rights over the information it gathers and,
important to note, it would not have done so without this financial motivation. Otherwise, it is highly
plausible that LIF and LCK s benefits would lie undiscovered even today, and the one million patients
tested at under $4000 would all be undergoing $178000

Why Was Andrew Jackson Controversial
Should we assume that a president was a tyrant or a champion of the common man based solely on
how they acted or should we step into their shoes first before we judge them? Andrew Jackson s
presidency made him one of the most controversial presidents that has ever existed in the history of
the United States of America. Andrew Jackson for many was a cruel tyrant who reinstated the tax on
British goods with Tariff of 1828 and rejected the renewal of the charter for the Second National Bank
of the United States. Also, Andrew Jackson created the Indian Removal Act of 1830 which end result
would be the Trail of Tears during the presidency of Martin Van Buren. Andrew Jackson was

Andrew Jackson rejected the renewal of the bank charter because Andrew Jackson believed that the
bank was corrupt and was harmful to the common people as shown when he stated in his bank veto
message that, the present Bank of the United States... enjoys an exclusive privilege of banking...
almost a monopoly of the foreign and domestic exchange. Andrew Jackson is showcasing his disgust
for the Second National Bank as he is implying that the bank is a corrupt system which only help the
rich and the bank itself while hurting the common folk. Andrew Jackson further showcases this
mentality by writing that, it is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of
government to their selfish purposes. Andrew Jackson is saying to Congress that he views the Second
National Bank of the U.S. as corrupt. Furthermore, Andrew Jackson believed he was protecting the
common people from a corrupt enterprise by rejecting the charter of the Second National Bank of the
U.S. as he believed that multiple state banks would be much more helpful to the common people.
Andrew Jackson is also suggesting that his idea for the pet banks, however misguided it may have
been, was for the good of the common

The principle downfall to life is that it will unfailingly conclude in death. In The Death of the Moth,
Virginia Woolf presents the struggle with mortality and the overall acceptance that death cannot be
beaten. Using similes, metaphors, and personification to express the experience she has with a moth,
Woolf is able to take a trivial occurrence and fill it with significance. Woolf encounters a moth flying
near a window. While observing the moth, she compares it to a tiny bead of pure life because of its
dancing and zigzagging, showing the ability the moth has to exemplify the liveliness of existence.
Rather than declaring characteristics of the moth, Woolf states they are not gay like butterflies and not
somber like their own species. She defines moths traits unjoyful and unable to fit into even their own
kinds by contrasting it to other insects. As Woolf continues to ... Show more content on

First, the moth is content with life a feeling the reader may share with the moth. Woolf states that the
moth enthusiastically appreciates meager opportunities to the full. The enjoyment of such measly
opportunities displays the moth s primitive, naïve nature. This nature follows the moth all of the way
until the end; the moth gives into death because it knows it s weaker. During the last minutes of the
moth s life, Woolf searches for the enemy against which he [struggles]. There is no actual enemy
present; death is personified as the enemy. The moth s body [relaxes], and instantly [grows] stiff and it
[lays] most decently and uncomplainingly composed, showing the moth s acceptance of its
impermanent life. Moths do not have the advanced sense to feel the sensation to appreciate
opportunities or to make the decision to succumb to death. Woolf provides the moth with these human
qualities to make the moth significant enough for the reader to relate

Political Identity In Persepolis
Are clothing, fashion, and lifestyle choices an effective way to make a political statement? Can
individuals express themselves without being constrained? This is an effective way and it is shown in
many ways. In the novel, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Marji does not wear her veil because she is
less of a person and it is a constant reminder of women oppression. In Politics of the Hoodie, the
hoodie extinguishes individuality in this politicized life. In my eyes, this tactic is very potent because
in this society today, it is not easy to reside in. This is one of the ways that citizens can express
themselves instead of retorting to violence, especially teenagers today. Despite the negative aspects
that are created by the individuals on this earth, clothing, fashion, and lifestyle decisions can make a
compelling ideological statement. In the novel Persepolis, the use of clothing, fashion, and lifestyle
choices are used to make a political assertion. During the Iranian Revolution, women were forced to
wear the veil, but Marji disagreed with this. In the text it states, Guns may shoot and knives may carve
but we won t wear your silly scarves! (76). This shows that the veil was a way women became
involved in politics because it represented their attitude towards the veil and how it should become an
option. This was also a way that women showed their rebellion towards the veil. Marji is approached
by a female guardian of the revolution and she insults her choice of clothing. In the text it states, Why
are you wearing those punk shoes? Aren t you ashamed to wear tight jeans like those? (133). This
shows that Marji s decision to wear her western style culture clothing to make a political statement
was effective. All of those items were forbidden it can be seen as an act of rebellion. Lastly, when
Marji received her Kim Wilde Poster, she loved it and hung it up in her room even though it was not
allowed. In the text it states It is so far out... I put my posters up in my room! (181). This shows that
even though posters conflicted with Iran s Islamic laws, this was Marji s way of rebelling against the
regime. Day by day society is regulated and it limits expression that can be used to show individuality.

Zindal Kordan Analysis
Nineteen year old Zindal Kordan stood at the window on the 409th floor of the unfinished Pax City
Capitol Building and surveyed the rebuilding efforts going on far below. Over three weeks ago, he
killed Henry Cavanaugh, the leader of the Naturalist Rebellion that had caused this bloody civil war

armed guards, though his brother Io assured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

into view, motionless in the flutter of movements around Zindal. When Zindal met his eyes, he was
surprised to find sorrow there, actual sorrow. He said nothing. The group of people lifted Zin from the
table and lowered him into a narrow container. They pulled a door over the top of it was it a coffin?
Were they burying him alive? Panic burned in his stomach but light still made its way to his

covered his legs and chest, inched its way up to his ears, seeped into his mouth and nose. He held his

Information Visualization And Data Mining
Part 1: Introduction 1.1 Information Visualization and Data Mining The continuous developing
advanced technology has been leading to the generation of millions of terabytes of information every
year. Most of them can be available in digital forms [1]. The large amount of information is no longer
hard for human to locate and achieve thanks to the quick development of search engine such as
Google. However, understanding information is still a problem for most humans. Information
visualization utilizes computer based visual representations of information to enhance and extend
human thinking. Visual components are broadly used because human eyes can process visual signals
more rapidly and human brains can understand them more easily. Since the first IEEE conference on
Information Visualization in 1990 [1], this technology has been broadly used in various subjects such
as earth science, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science in order to represent copious data
and potential patterns visually and obviously. In non science disciplines, such as business, digital
libraries, human behavior, information visualization has also been applied. The emerging data from
the everywhere in the world make the birth of big data era. There exist potential values in those data,
while the big volume, variety and velocity [2] of the data make it nearly impossible for humans to
analyze resources manually so as to find the hidden treasures. Under this circumstance, the concept

Are Sports Good For Children
Some think that sports are good for children because they help with making friends and it helps they
children with school and their grades. But, others think that it is a bad thing for children some people
say that it costs too much or they don t want the risk of getting injured. This is an issue that needs to
be solved. Should we let children play sports or should they not.? Some sports put s too much pressure
on some youths and injuries are at high risks to happen to youths. One reason that sports are negative
because a lot of pressure goes onto the children and most injuries happen during some youth sports. In

comes to sports and it needs to be taking seriously, if they have never had one before they would not

it causes injuries some most sports cause too much pressure. The reason that the evidence and the

How far do you agree with the opinion that courtship and marriage are undermined and ridiculed in
The Taming of the Shrew ?
Shakespeare s drama The Taming of the Shrew is set in the Elizabethan era, and marriage and
courtship was very different than how it is in the present. Back then it was the parents who picked
suitors for their daughters. This choice would be final for the daughters but often women rebelled
against the decision as they wanted to choose their own suitors. Romeo and Juliet is an example of
this. In our Taming of the Shrew this is no different as Baptista Minola chooses the suitors in which
marry his daughters.
We first see this undermining of courtship and marriage when Petruchio speaks of his view on ...

Petruchio takes away the whole aspect of falling in love from Katherina as he forces her to marry him
and her father happily abides, will you, nill you, I will marry you . This again makes a charade of
marriage. I agree when Coppélia Kahn says The overt force Petruchio wields over Kate by marrying
her against her will in the first place, and then by denying her every wish and comfort, stamping,
shouting, reducing her to exhaustion, etc., is but a farcical representation of the psychological realities
of marriage... as the audience would definitely find it funny and is a perfect example of Shakespeare s
attempts to ridicule the sanctity of marriage.
As Robert Heilman demonstrates, the taming is best viewed as farce which carries out our desire to
simplify life by a selective anesthetizing of the whole person; man retains all his energy yet never
really gets hurt and this is shown as the drama is a comedy of mocking the institution of marriage.
Another negative outlook against marriage and courtship is when we find of Hortensio s plans to
disguise himself as a schoolmaster well seen in music to instruct Bianca . Lucentio also disguises
himself by swapping clothes and identities with Tranio so that he may woo Bianca secretly. This
shows courtship to be a mockery as when you court someone, you are opening up and showing the
person who you are and that you ve nothing to hide. Hortensio is doing the complete opposite as

device or ship because its time consuming and very expensive. I chose to talk about the future of the
navy because of all the new stories breaking to the public about the new installations of the rail gun,
unmanned boats, improvements to the CiWS, and the new DDG 1000. The future of the navy is taking

The DDG 1000 class destroyer is the beginning of a new era in ship technologies along sing with the
LCS 1 and LCS 2. The design on the DDG 1000 is very unique, its hull it s bent in toward the center
of the ship which is different than any vessel in the navy s arsenal. The ship s center complex holds all
the essentials a normal destroyer would be capable of having. It s fitted with the lasted in radar and
other sensors developed to make it invisible to other countries radar systems disguising it as a fishing
boat, making it a lesser target when inside enemy territories and allowing it to get closer to land by its
design. The center complex holds the anchor, which is usually placed by the front of each vessel. The
disadvantages of this vessel right now are it will hold a smaller crew and that it s not operational. The
DDG 1000 will hold a smaller crew based on the other destroyers in the fleet because it only has one
complex to hold all of the fixtures a normal destroyer has. This is taking away from jobs the future
navy needs in order to fulfill its needs to command each new vessel. The DDG 1000 is still in port
getting a new look with the addition of another front mounted cannon and/or the possibility of the new
rail gun system. Reports say the Zumwalt (DDG 1000) will be operational and battle ready by the end
of 2015 but with the current construction of the DDG 1001 underway it s too hard to tell whether the
set date is a best bet, I would say middle of 2016 at the latest because if it s still in port by then all of
the technology will be outdated and will be back in port to replace/update the old

Why The Fourth Amendment Is So Important
Question one. The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons,
houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated... Just
imagine a scenario where an individual is sitting in their house, and the police barge in and search the
entire premises and the individual with no warrant or merit to the search? That type of life would be
perverse on itself, let alone frightening. Cases like Katz, Jones, and Oliver exemplify why the Fourth
Amendment is so important to our everyday lives and wellbeing.
The United States v. Jones case is distinguished by the use of GPS tracking (as that was not an entity
when the Fourth Amendment was created). Antoine Jones was arrested for drug possession after police
attached a GPS tracker to his car for more than the allowed time the warrant held out for. With this
case, the U.S. Supreme Court universally established that Americans have constitutional protections
against GPS surveillance by law enforcement. In this day and age, GPS tracking is considered a search
under the Fourth Amendment. The founding fathers who put together the Constitution never imagined
technology like this, so they had no reason to include examples like this case in the Fourth
Amendment. As the Fourth Amendment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Evaporation Race
When it rains, puddles of water are often left behind, but it starts to disappear after just a few hours.
What is happening? This is called evaporation. Evaporation is a very common natural process that
occurs all around the world, where a liquid changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state. Evaporation
occurs when enough heat energy is absorbed by the molecules in a liquid state to the point where it
starts to vaporize. Do other liquids react in the same way? The answer is yes, but in this experiment, a
heat source will be used to evaporate different liquids. The results will show if certain liquids do, in
fact, evaporate faster or slower than others depending on their ingredients.
How do liquids change from a liquid to a gas phase? A liquid is a primary state of matter that has no
specific shape. According to chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, Liquids are more dense and less compressible
than gasses. Liquids have a definite volume, independent of the size and shape of their container. The
attractive forces are not strong enough, however, to keep neighboring molecules in a fixed position
and molecules are free to move past or slide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How is the dependent variable, evaporation rate, affected by different liquids? As said on
water.usgs.gov, Heat (energy) is necessary for evaporation to occurs. Energy is used to break the
bonds that hold water molecules together, which is why water easily evaporates at the boiling point
(212Ëš F, 100ËšC)... Water s boiling point is a known fact, but other liquids with lower boiling points
evaporate faster, and that is what will make the evaporation rate for each liquid vary. If energy is
added to a liquid, the molecules will react by vibrating faster and spreading apart, eventually changing
the liquid to a gaseous phase. With these facts in mind, one can resume with the topic of this

As in conventional radiography, MRI consists of a machine, a control room and a technologist to
produce the image. The technologist will sit in the control room at a computer to achieve the images
and adjust them to achieve the best quality possible (Frank, Long, Smith Rolling, 2012). The machine
room will consist of the actual magnetic resonance machine in which the patient will lie for the
remainder of the study. The main device of the magnetic resonance system consists of large
electromagnets that completely surrounds the patient within a long tube or bore (Gosman Rose, 2015).

The ability of a rotating magnet to create diagnostic images of soft tissue structures within the body
nearly sounds farfetched. Gosman and Rose state that magnetic resonance images are made possible
due to the magnetic properties of certain protons in fluids and soft tissues within the anatomical
structures being imaged (e.g. hydrogen). In a nutshell, an MRI machine captures images by using a
magnet which circles the patient s body to excite the hydrogen atoms throughout the body; after
returning from that excitation, the atoms let off energy that is then received by the MRI machine to
create a diagnostic image (Ulrich, 2009). Magnetic resonance imaging must have three essential
components to create a diagnostic image. These components include super conducting magnets, the
resonance of hydrogen atoms, and radio frequencies (Gosman Rose, 2015). When these hydrogen
protons are placed under a rotating magnetic field they all begin to ling up, but end up at an angle and
rotate in the same direction of the magnetic field; this rotation and angle of the protons is termed
precession (Frank et al., 2012). Frank et al. (2012) explains that these precessing protons can absorb
energy if they are exposed to radiofrequency (RF) pulses if the radio waves and the precession of the
atom are on the same frequency. This absorption of energy by the precessing protons is referred

The Road Movie In Outer Space Analysis
In the two essays presented, Genre, Gender, and Hysteria, The Road Movie in Outer Space by Tim
Corrigan and Steven Cohan s The Road Movie Book Introduction, concepts of the beginning of the
road movie genre, how it related to social and political environments of the time a movie was made,
and changes in the style of protagonist are discussed and examined equally but differently. Road films
have been part of American films from the beginning of Hollywood movies. Their categories have
included action adventure, comedies, crime, dramas, gangster, and westerns films. Road films have
also expanded their popularity from the outback of Australia, as we ve seen in Beneath Clouds, Rabbit
Proof Fence and The Adventures of Pricilla, Queen of the Desert. The common theme present is a
journey on the open road, searching for an escape of the life they lead, and reaching a goal while
following the personal development of the characters during the journey. The appeal for the
international community with this genre of movies comes with the portrayal of experimentation and
innovation. This is further enhanced by the perception that Americans are a nation of dreamers and
women are free spirited. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Example Of Heroism In Beowulf
Question four
Beowulf is determined as a hero in my eyes, throughout the brave and heroic attributes that he had
undertaken within this poem. When defining a hero in our first week of class, we had come up with
the idea that a hero is someone who is: selfless, has strength, sacrifices everything that they have for
the greater good and shows confidence. Beowulf has shown all of these attributes beginning with
being selfless. Beowulf came to the Danes because he knew that he needed to not only keep his
kingdom safe, but surrounding kingdoms. Beowulf s heroism was defined on these next couple of
lines. On line 193, There was no one else like him alive. In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth,
high born and powerful. He ordered a boat that would ply the waves. He announced his plan (Heaney,
15, 193 196). Beowulf knew the dangers that fighting this demon could bring, but he sacrificed
everything he had. If Beowulf would have lost the battle, his Kingdom (Geats) would have been left
with nothing and Hrothgars kingdom would still be under attack. Beowulf also shows his strength
throughout the poem. When Beowulf arrives at the Danes, he shows no fear. Beowulf speaks with
Hrothgar to learn what is true about his threat. Beowulf speaks giving the Danes much hope, line 294
whatever it is, this danger abroad in the dark nights, I come to proffer my wholehearted help and
counsel (Heaney, 21, 294 298). Beowulf is a hero and a leader, even if we look at him within modern
times. Beowulf shows cause and reason to why he is at the Danes, he creates leadership upon his men
and he has shown devotion towards this cause of wanting to defeat Grendal the demon in the poem.
Every move Beowulf takes in this poem is what I believe we would want in the modern times of war.
We want a leader that will be able to take charge and follow through with the actions they speak upon.
In modern time, we also want a leader that protects our land and has their best opinion out for their
Country. We want a leader like Beowulf. There is times that as a reader one could think that he is only
completing these heroic attributes to uphold his overall reputation of himself, but isn t that everyone s
main goal when completing a monumental task?

dollar exchange rate moved nearly 20 percent. Empirical studies demonstrate that FX volatility can
significantly affect companies profits.
Multinational businesses face several types of FX risk, including financial, translational, transactional
and economic FX risk. We focus here on economic risk, also known as operational or competitive FX
risk. Economic risk arises, for example, when a multinational business incurs costs in one currency
and generates sales in another. Profits may decrease if the cost currency appreciates against the sales
currency.
Multinational businesses have tools to reduce economic FX risk. They may use financial instruments
to hedge unfavorable FX moves, although doing so entails explicit costs. They also may change their
operations to reduce FX risk. For instance, they may change the denomination of cash deposits,
restructure contracts, relocate plants, or change the source of capital or production materials. They
may share FX risks with related parties or pass the costs or benefits of FX changes through to
unrelated customers or suppliers. But even businesses that hedge or optimally structure their
operations to reduce FX risk may be disadvantaged if a competitor experiences a favorable FX move.
The project started with the primary objective of understanding the foreign exchange risk exposed at
Honda Siel Cars India Ltd and the secondary objective is to study the existing foreign exchange risk at

Hegel And Kant On The Ontological Argument Essay
Hegel and Kant on the Ontological Argument
ABSTRACT: I intend to present Kant s refutation of the ontological argument as confronted by Hegel
s critique of Kant s refutation. The ontological argument can be exposed in a syllogistic way:
everything I conceive as belonging clearly and distinctly to the nature or essence of something can be
asserted as true of something. I perceive clearly and distinctly that existence belongs to the nature or
essence of a perfect being; therefore, existence can be stated as true of a supremely perfect being, that
is, perfect being exists. I intend to argue that Kant criticizes both the major and minor premises. To the
major premise, he objects that there is an unqualified passage from the logical to the ... Show more

Premise 2 holds the central idea of the ontological argument: it implies that existence is a property or
quality, and as such should take part of the essence of a supremely perfect being. Such conception
could be expressed in the following derived argument:
1) All perfections belong clearly and distinctly to the essence of a supremely perfect being;
2) Existence is a perfection therefore, existence belongs to the essence of a supremely perfect being
II. Kant s Refutation of the Ontological Argument
Kant s criticism aims at both premises of the main argument. To the major premise, he objects that
there is an unjustified passage from the logical to the ontological level: But the unconditioned
necessity of judgments is not the same as an absolute necessity of things. The absolute necessity of the
judgments is only a conditioned necessity of the thing, or of the predicate in the judgment (KrV, B621)
In other words, to conceive that S is P doesn t imply the necessary existence of S. Such proposition
requires not the absolute necessity of something but a

Total Quality Management Theory
Introduction
Most organizational management theories descend either from Frederick Taylor s scientific
management theory or from Elton Mayo s human relations model. Total Quality Management (TQM)
theory grew out of existing organizational management theories, in part, as a response to the problems
in those theories. Edwards Deming and Joseph Juran are most responsible for the development of
TQM. Deming and Juran began work on TQM in the 1930s and continued shaping the management
model into the 1990s. During the 1930s, Deming and Juran studied with Walter Shewhart who
developed Statistical Quality Control (SQC) theory. SQC argued that as quality improves, costs go
down and productivity increases. SQC provided for continuous ... Show more content on

And the goal of the TQM model is to provide a systematic way to meet customers expectations. This
orientation calls for changing the organization s focus, considering how this change impacts on
traditional performance measures, and identifying the customers and determining their relative
importance. This section will now analyze how IS Admissions might implement Total Quality
Management theory as a method of organizational effectiveness. IS Admissions a production
organization is responsible for processing applications for admission to the COT. If IS Admissions
implemented the core concepts of TQM theory identified in this essay, the office would be managed as
follows: 1. Promoting stakeholder satisfaction will be championed by the program manager. Juran
defines stakeholders and customers those who will be impacted or affected by the products and
processes required to attain the quality goals. IS Admissions should consider current and potential
customers and stake holders both internal and external. External customers or stakeholders are those
directed served by IS Admissions. Internal customers or stakeholders are the individuals or groups that
receive the results from any individual s work. An organization must meet the needs of both internal
and external customers. A cross functional work groups represented by all relevant departments will
serve in this quality planning activity. Through quality

Why The United States Can Make Any Toys With Greater...
The United States can make certain toys with greater productive efficiency than can China. Yet we
import those toys from China. However the main reason why the U.S. has become so dependent upon
China for goods is that production costs are less in China than the U.S. Reduced production costs are
so attractive to companies the benefits of low cost production are passed on to customers with lower
prices on goods the relationships U.S. companies have with China are important because of the variety
of products available from China. Adam Smith born in 1723 was a Scottish political economist and
philosopher famous by his influential book The Wealth of Nations. Smith proposed in his book that a
nation s wealth should be judged not by this metric but by the total of its production and commerce.
Smith wrote in his book that that productive labor should be made even more productive by deepening
the division of labor. Smith describes the evolution through feudalism into a stage of society requiring
new institutions, such as market determined rather than guild determined wages and free rather than
government constrained enterprise. If a foreign country can SUPPLY us with a commodity cheaper
than we ourselves can make it, better buy it of them with some part of the produce of our own
industry, employed in a way in which we have some advantage. Relationships with China have proved
profitable for some major U.S. corporations. One of the reasons that the U.S. has become so
dependent

really taken after the components of an enforceable contract, he would not discover the business able

Relationship Between Cancer And Alzheimer s Disease
Results from the Framingham Heart Study published by Driver et al, 2012(27) discussed the
relationship between cancer and Alzheimer s disease, using hazard ratios and 95% confidence
intervals. From this, it was concluded that cancer vulnerability may protect against Alzheimer s, and
vice versa. It was suggested that this may be due to both diseases sharing similar genes and proteins,
providing even more reason to research further into proteins such as the immunophilins, which have a
role in both diseases. Analysis of genes from large databases would further improve knowledge on the
immunophilins.

Steiner et al, 1997,(30) found that an immunophilin ligand, GPI 1046, caused regeneration of nerve
axons and myelin, and also protected nerve fibres in vitro and in vivo in rat studies, providing
evidence that there is potential with regard to immunophilins and neuroprotection. Another paper by
Poulter et al, 2004(31) also suggested that immunophilin ligands derived from FK506 are effective in
preventing neuronal degeneration in animal studies, however in clinical trials these effects were
debatable, which may be rectified by carrying out a trial for a longer period of time. The authors
commented that the inconsistent results show that the action of these ligands is not fully understood.

  • 2. Flight 800 Research Papers We all get a little scared when we step on to a plane. All we want is to get from destination to the other without any complications. Four hundred and and sixty nine people probably wanted the same thing. In 1996 twohundred and thirty people died on a flight that exploded a few minutes after taking off. In 2014 twohundred and thirtynine are presumed dead on a flight that is still missing to this day. So the question is what really happened to these flights? In 1996 Trans World Airlines flight 800 was in route Rome with a stopover in Paris, when it exploded only twelve minutes after take off. The accident report states that the cause of the explosion was from the center wing fuel tank which resulted from a ignition of a flammable fuel/air mixture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An air traffic controler shares what he saw on that day in 1996 I thought it was a landing light, but then it headed straight for the plan, and then the plane blew. (Nita Hiltner). James Sanders, the author of the The Downing Of TWA flight 800, has spent the last 18 years investigating this event, he recently announced that the flight was brought down accidentally by two missiles fired from a Navy Vessel and/or submarine that were in the area to intercept a smaller plane involved in a plot to bring down the commercial flight . A cover up by the FBI and the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) was extensive, involving intimidation of witnesses and investigators, tampering with evidence, false testimony before Congress, censoring reports, and numerous violations of protocols. Some of the government s own official investigators said that the explosions occurred outside the airplane. They were permitted to testify with that evidence. A piece of metal from a destroyed or missing plane can tell a big story. Early last year detectives were brought to the attention of a piece of scrap washed up on the Reunion Island in early July. • 3. County Council Meeting Reflection The County council meeting that I attended was all I thought it would be, minus the crazy person that I was promised. The county council meeting was facilitated by a group of white men and women with very few if any minorities in attendance. The council appeared to be very dry leaving me questioning why this was so important. However, shortly after settling in for the long hall it clicked, and I was able to make the connection to my Political Science 1100 course, and how exactly the county council meeting fit into the bigger picture of government and its importance. The county council much like the State legislative bodies addressed various topics and issues related to the county and sought ways to address them. Although it was very dull, ... • 5. The Effects Of Global Warming On Our Future On A Hotter... Throughout the 21st, global warming rates have increased by unprecedented amounts. As the Earth s changing climate becomes a pertinent issue for nature and human society, climate scientists continue to predict the effects that rising temperatures will have on the whole planet in the future. Notably, in 2008, environmental activist Mark Lynas examined aspects of global warming, like rising sea levels, natural disasters, and overall temperature changes in his book Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet. Lynas considers state of the art research to assess the degree by degree forecast for the 21st century. While Lynas and climate scientists agree that global warming is underway, Lynas tends to be overstated in his predictions about the earth s future, which cannot be justified based on current evidence from climate scientists. Contemporary climate scientists agree that global warming is a critical concern in the 21st century: rising sea levels and increasing temperatures ranging from 1 to 6 degrees Celsius are harming Earth s physical, ecological, and social conditions. Lower temperature predictions estimate that ocean surfaces have warmed .3 to .6 degrees Celsius over the past 100 years (Houghton). While these numbers seem insignificant, they are rising rapidly over time. Fore example, the warmest 30 year period in the last 1400 years lasted from 1938 to 2012, resulting in temperatures .65 to 1.06 degrees warmer than previous averages. The moment I read this line in the book The Alchemist, I thought it did not make any sense. However, I later realized that what this quote means for me is that when I decide what I want, I just go for it. It took me some time to realize I wanted to be an accountant. I first had to learn about my weaknesses and strengths before knowing what career was right for me. My love for number, attention to details among other strengths made me conclude that forensic accountancy is the prefer career. It is a long way before I become one and I still don t have the details of where I want to work five years from now nor what specific role. In these regard, I am very open minded. In order to detail my career plan, it is important to mention where I am today, how I decided to choose forensic accountancy, and where I want to be in five years. Where do I stand today in my career path? I am a first generation immigrant and college student. I received my associate s degree of accounting in New Jersey at Hudson County Community College in December of 2014. I transferred to Pitt in the fall of 2015. Then, the spring of 2016, I transferred to the College of Business Administration, where I officially resumed my bachelor s degree in accounting. • 8. Who Is A Gladiator There are many positive scenes in this movie for example, when Emperor Marcus Aurelius decided that he wanted to name Maximus as the new Emperor instead of his own son. Maximus was a great Gladiator, he fought well, and was a loyal friend. Another positive for me was when Maximus avenged his family, he died in the end but was able to be with his wife and son in afterlife like in his visions. When Commodus decided to kill his father Emperor Aurelius to become Emperor himself was a negative part of the movie. When Emperor Aurelius was killed, Maximums was taken to Zucchabar were he was sold. Commodus became the new Emperor and attempted to kill Gladiator Maximus s many times throughout the movie. There are many scenes were Maximus is fighting for his life and the intense music made those scenes nerve wracking. The sad scenes had the sensitive music in the background which made everything more dramatic to a point where I caught myself tearing up. I categorize the movie to be mostly drama, so I found the music to be a combination of intense, dramatic, and suspenseful. I completely felt like I was viewing the time period being shown in the movie. The costumes were great, and fit everyone s role perfectly. The costumes for the Gladiators included armor and the cape, a helmet, a sword, and a shield. This is all the equipment needed for a Gladiator to survive and defend himself. The costumes for the Lucilla and Commodus were appropriate for their role in the movie as well. They were the high class people in the movie so they wore big coats and expensive clothing with a lot of layers. The film was well photographed and the visuals were good. The scene were Maximus has visions of his wife and son waiting for him in an open field with a long road was well photographed. I also enjoyed the visual Maximus looking at the chained tiger in one of his fights. Finally, I thought the scene were Commodus made a raw facial expression with his tongue out because of all the blood when the Barbarians fought the Gladiators was well ... • 10. Obama s Victory There is no doubt that race was a factor in Obama s victory but many other factors appear to hold more weight. I struggle to believe that a president can win over a majority of votes with the key factor being their race. There were many factors that Obama influenced himself as well as other factors that helped him win and many, while they may have been influenced by race, don t have a direct correlation. The Obama campaign was incredibly innovative and different to McCain s for a number of reasons. One of the main factors that contributed to his victory was the original way he raised finance for the campaign. By fundraising 57% of the campaign through donations smaller than $200 made online, Obama was able to raise a staggering $745 million. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obama was the figurehead for change and with 62% of America believing that it was on the wrong track he harnessed voters looking for reform and therefore made him a more attractive candidate. McCain s association with Bush in the initial stages of the election made him unpopular as we can see from his approval ratings when leaving office which were 30%. It is clear that it was a deciding factor with 90% of Obama s voters thinking that McCain s policies were an extension of Bushes . McCain was also the republican representative which already severely reduced his chances because it was very unlikely that a republican nominee would be elected three terms in a row. These factors have nothing to do with race and were arguably some of the most significant factors to his win. Additionally, there was no comparison between vice president nominees Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. While it was an attempt to compliment McCain the choice of Sarah Palin undermined the republican image and 60% of the US saw her as unqualified and was publically ridiculed in the press and on shows like Saturday night live. There was no comparison between her and Joe Biden and her inability to hold her own in debates and interviews discredited the whole republican nomination. This factor, again, has nothing to do with race but a failure on the opposition s part to select a nominee that was comparable to Biden. Overall these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grave Devine Musical Elements In the CD by Toutes Suites, the aesthetically pleasing sounds of the Baroque time period are revitalized with their distinctive beauty and variety in tone color, tempo, and rhythm. The CD features sonatas whose first movements are all relatively similar in mood. The second movements hold to that same likeness, although the mood portrays a slightly more calm feeling as the sonata continues. From beginning to end, the prime factor that distinguishes one from the other is the rhythm, and to be more specific the tempo. This creates an darker and gloomy mood compared to the other tracks. Sadness could be another word to describe how the music flows throughout the piece. The composer creates a feeling that the mood is felt by using imitative polyphony with several instruments to amplify and reinstate the repetition of the somber tone. This track is also accompanied by the half and quarter notes that are played on the violin and strengthened by the double manual harpsichord. Track 14, titled Grave Vivace Andante is the first and second movements of a sonata, as indicated by the terms Vivace commonly used to identify the first movement and the word Andante used to identify the second movement. Track 14 compared to track 3 share some similarities, even though it is moving towards a more upbeat experience because of its fast tempo and upbeat rhythm. While introducing the beginning stages of the piece the listener can unquestionably hear that it has a remarkably higher scale compared to track 3. In the beginning, time has always been a natural event, for example, sunrise to sunset but men s earlier primitive tools to measure time were inaccurate and were only an approximate indicator, hence often unreliable such as the hour glass. We became enslaved by the concept of time; our society is controlled by this mechanical device which dictates our schedule accordingly. (281) This means that those who write preserve history. I hope to accomplish this here by remembering my late uncle Khaled s experience of the Iraqi invasion, and occupation of, my native country of Kuwait. The opinion increased or decreased in intensity with statements made at Arab League meetings for and against the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, as well as strong public denunciations by foreign nations (especially the U.S.) of the invasion or less passionate, neutral, comments made by other countries (particularly China). As the end of the first month of the occupation approached with no action taken by the Arab League, nor anyone else, my uncle s opinion changed along with everyone else s in our tiny country. When he would visit us he would still appear at least partially optimistic, commenting that The world does not seem ready to take action yet, but it will. In the meantime, the Iraqis will tire of this game soon enough and leave. Here, again, the opposite seemed true. As time passed, the Iraqis appeared only to increase the presence of their forces in Kuwait. Whereas Iraqi forces at first had seemed more scattered in numbers throughout the neighborhoods of the capital city, perhaps as only smaller squads of men, by the second month they massed in human blocks that grew in size to companies, or even battalions, of troops. ... Exactly what technology can be patented in this day and age, as our bodies and proteins become subject to technology themselves, is indeed in need of some clarification. Over several years, they spent hundreds of millions of dollars on research perfecting the method to synthesize and analyze cDNA complementary DNA in the genes LIF and LCK. Mutations in these two genes, as Smith discovered, correlated with and were highly indicative of an increased risk of leukemia. Smith filed a patent on these genes and the process of the diagnostic test, and has since benefited over one million potential leukemia patients with a diagnostic that allows them to take preemptive strikes against the disease the average cost of leukemia in the Netherlands is $104,386 (de Uyl et al.), and one treatment in the United States costs $178,000 (Chen), while Smith s test is under $4000, and usually insurance eligible under new Federal law, qualifying as preventative care. As the Economist puts it succinctly, the point of a patent is to encourage innovation by giving inventors a limited period of exclusive control over the fruits of their labour, (April 2013). Smith invested these large sums into identifying this gene under the assumption that it would make profit off of these tests due to its rights over the information it gathers and, important to note, it would not have done so without this financial motivation. Andrew Jackson s presidency made him one of the most controversial presidents that has ever existed in the history of the United States of America. Andrew Jackson for many was a cruel tyrant who reinstated the tax on British goods with Tariff of 1828 and rejected the renewal of the charter for the Second National Bank of the United States. In The Death of the Moth, Virginia Woolf presents the struggle with mortality and the overall acceptance that death cannot be beaten. Using similes, metaphors, and personification to express the experience she has with a moth, Woolf is able to take a trivial occurrence and fill it with significance. Woolf encounters a moth flying near a window. While observing the moth, she compares it to a tiny bead of pure life because of its dancing and zigzagging, showing the ability the moth has to exemplify the liveliness of existence. Rather than declaring characteristics of the moth, Woolf states they are not gay like butterflies and not somber like their own species. • 20. Political Identity In Persepolis Are clothing, fashion, and lifestyle choices an effective way to make a political statement? Can individuals express themselves without being constrained? This is an effective way and it is shown in many ways. In the novel, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Marji does not wear her veil because she is less of a person and it is a constant reminder of women oppression. In Politics of the Hoodie, the hoodie extinguishes individuality in this politicized life. In my eyes, this tactic is very potent because in this society today, it is not easy to reside in. This is one of the ways that citizens can express themselves instead of retorting to violence, especially teenagers today. Despite the negative aspects that are created by the individuals on this earth, clothing, fashion, and lifestyle decisions can make a compelling ideological statement. In the novel Persepolis, the use of clothing, fashion, and lifestyle choices are used to make a political assertion. During the Iranian Revolution, women were forced to wear the veil, but Marji disagreed with this. In the text it states, Guns may shoot and knives may carve but we won t wear your silly scarves! (76). This shows that the veil was a way women became involved in politics because it represented their attitude towards the veil and how it should become an option. This was also a way that women showed their rebellion towards the veil. Marji is approached by a female guardian of the revolution and she insults her choice of clothing. In the text it states, Why are you wearing those punk shoes? Aren t you ashamed to wear tight jeans like those? (133). This shows that Marji s decision to wear her western style culture clothing to make a political statement was effective. All of those items were forbidden it can be seen as an act of rebellion. Lastly, when Marji received her Kim Wilde Poster, she loved it and hung it up in her room even though it was not allowed. In the text it states It is so far out... I put my posters up in my room! Information Visualization And Data Mining Part 1: Introduction 1.1 Information Visualization and Data Mining The continuous developing advanced technology has been leading to the generation of millions of terabytes of information every year. Most of them can be available in digital forms [1]. The large amount of information is no longer hard for human to locate and achieve thanks to the quick development of search engine such as Google. However, understanding information is still a problem for most humans. Information visualization utilizes computer based visual representations of information to enhance and extend human thinking. Visual components are broadly used because human eyes can process visual signals more rapidly and human brains can understand them more easily. Since the first IEEE conference on Information Visualization in 1990 [1], this technology has been broadly used in various subjects such as earth science, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science in order to represent copious data and potential patterns visually and obviously. In non science disciplines, such as business, digital libraries, human behavior, information visualization has also been applied. The emerging data from the everywhere in the world make the birth of big data era. Shakespeare s drama The Taming of the Shrew is set in the Elizabethan era, and marriage and courtship was very different than how it is in the present. Back then it was the parents who picked suitors for their daughters. This choice would be final for the daughters but often women rebelled against the decision as they wanted to choose their own suitors. Romeo and Juliet is an example of this. I agree when Coppélia Kahn says The overt force Petruchio wields over Kate by marrying her against her will in the first place, and then by denying her every wish and comfort, stamping, shouting, reducing her to exhaustion, etc., is but a farcical representation of the psychological realities of marriage... as the audience would definitely find it funny and is a perfect example of Shakespeare s attempts to ridicule the sanctity of marriage. As Robert Heilman demonstrates, the taming is best viewed as farce which carries out our desire to simplify life by a selective anesthetizing of the whole person; man retains all his energy yet never really gets hurt and this is shown as the drama is a comedy of mocking the institution of marriage. Another negative outlook against marriage and courtship is when we find of Hortensio s plans to disguise himself as a schoolmaster well seen in music to instruct Bianca . Lucentio also disguises himself by swapping clothes and identities with Tranio so that he may woo Bianca secretly. Just imagine a scenario where an individual is sitting in their house, and the police barge in and search the entire premises and the individual with no warrant or merit to the search? Antoine Jones was arrested for drug possession after police attached a GPS tracker to his car for more than the allowed time the warrant held out for. With this case, the U.S. Supreme Court universally established that Americans have constitutional protections against GPS surveillance by law enforcement. What is happening? This is called evaporation. Evaporation is a very common natural process that occurs all around the world, where a liquid changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state. Evaporation occurs when enough heat energy is absorbed by the molecules in a liquid state to the point where it starts to vaporize. Do other liquids react in the same way? The answer is yes, but in this experiment, a heat source will be used to evaporate different liquids. • 34. Magnetic Resonance Electromagnetic Analysis As in conventional radiography, MRI consists of a machine, a control room and a technologist to produce the image. The technologist will sit in the control room at a computer to achieve the images and adjust them to achieve the best quality possible (Frank, Long, Smith Rolling, 2012). The machine room will consist of the actual magnetic resonance machine in which the patient will lie for the remainder of the study. The main device of the magnetic resonance system consists of large electromagnets that completely surrounds the patient within a long tube or bore (Gosman Rose, 2015). Gosman and Rose discuss that the magnets within the MRI machines produce a magnetic strength anywhere from (.2 to 7 tesla; Smith, 2012) on average; in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ability of a rotating magnet to create diagnostic images of soft tissue structures within the body nearly sounds farfetched. Gosman and Rose state that magnetic resonance images are made possible due to the magnetic properties of certain protons in fluids and soft tissues within the anatomical structures being imaged (e.g. hydrogen). In a nutshell, an MRI machine captures images by using a magnet which circles the patient s body to excite the hydrogen atoms throughout the body; after returning from that excitation, the atoms let off energy that is then received by the MRI machine to create a diagnostic image (Ulrich, 2009). Magnetic resonance imaging must have three essential components to create a diagnostic image. These components include super conducting magnets, the resonance of hydrogen atoms, and radio frequencies (Gosman Rose, 2015). When these hydrogen protons are placed under a rotating magnetic field they all begin to ling up, but end up at an angle and rotate in the same direction of the magnetic field; this rotation and angle of the protons is termed precession (Frank et al., 2012). Frank et al. (2012) explains that these precessing protons can absorb energy if they are exposed to radiofrequency (RF) pulses if the radio waves and the precession of the atom are on the same frequency. This absorption of energy by the precessing protons is referred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Road Movie In Outer Space Analysis In the two essays presented, Genre, Gender, and Hysteria, The Road Movie in Outer Space by Tim Corrigan and Steven Cohan s The Road Movie Book Introduction, concepts of the beginning of the road movie genre, how it related to social and political environments of the time a movie was made, and changes in the style of protagonist are discussed and examined equally but differently. Road films have been part of American films from the beginning of Hollywood movies. Their categories have included action adventure, comedies, crime, dramas, gangster, and westerns films. Road films have also expanded their popularity from the outback of Australia, as we ve seen in Beneath Clouds, Rabbit Proof Fence and The Adventures of Pricilla, Queen of the Desert. The common theme present is a journey on the open road, searching for an escape of the life they lead, and reaching a goal while following the personal development of the characters during the journey. The appeal for the international community with this genre of movies comes with the portrayal of experimentation and innovation. This is further enhanced by the perception that Americans are a nation of dreamers and women are free spirited. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Steven Cohan combines a collection of diverse and engaging excerpts on movies from Bob Hope to Thelma and Louise to illustrate this point. The movies discussed in this essay chronicle road movies from America over the course of history from the Great Depression, to World War II, through current times. • 37. Example Of Heroism In Beowulf Question four Beowulf is determined as a hero in my eyes, throughout the brave and heroic attributes that he had undertaken within this poem. When defining a hero in our first week of class, we had come up with the idea that a hero is someone who is: selfless, has strength, sacrifices everything that they have for the greater good and shows confidence. Beowulf has shown all of these attributes beginning with being selfless. Beowulf came to the Danes because he knew that he needed to not only keep his kingdom safe, but surrounding kingdoms. Beowulf s heroism was defined on these next couple of lines. On line 193, There was no one else like him alive. In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth, high born and powerful. He ordered a boat that would ply the waves. He announced his plan (Heaney, 15, 193 196). Beowulf knew the dangers that fighting this demon could bring, but he sacrificed everything he had. If Beowulf would have lost the battle, his Kingdom (Geats) would have been left with nothing and Hrothgars kingdom would still be under attack. Beowulf also shows his strength throughout the poem. When Beowulf arrives at the Danes, he shows no fear. Beowulf speaks with Hrothgar to learn what is true about his threat. Beowulf speaks giving the Danes much hope, line 294 whatever it is, this danger abroad in the dark nights, I come to proffer my wholehearted help and counsel (Heaney, 21, 294 298). Beowulf is a hero and a leader, even if we look at him within modern times. Beowulf shows cause and reason to why he is at the Danes, he creates leadership upon his men and he has shown devotion towards this cause of wanting to defeat Grendal the demon in the poem. Every move Beowulf takes in this poem is what I believe we would want in the modern times of war. We want a leader that will be able to take charge and follow through with the actions they speak upon. In modern time, we also want a leader that protects our land and has their best opinion out for their Country. We want a leader like Beowulf. There is times that as a reader one could think that he is only completing these heroic attributes to uphold his overall reputation of himself, but isn t that everyone s main goal when completing a monumental task? ... Empirical studies demonstrate that FX volatility can significantly affect companies profits. Multinational businesses face several types of FX risk, including financial, translational, transactional and economic FX risk. We focus here on economic risk, also known as operational or competitive FX risk. Economic risk arises, for example, when a multinational business incurs costs in one currency and generates sales in another. Profits may decrease if the cost currency appreciates against the sales currency. Multinational businesses have tools to reduce economic FX risk. They may use financial instruments to hedge unfavorable FX moves, although doing so entails explicit costs. They also may change their operations to reduce FX risk. For instance, they may change the denomination of cash deposits, restructure contracts, relocate plants, or change the source of capital or production materials. They may share FX risks with related parties or pass the costs or benefits of FX changes through to unrelated customers or suppliers. But even businesses that hedge or optimally structure their operations to reduce FX risk may be disadvantaged if a competitor experiences a favorable FX move. • 40. Hegel And Kant On The Ontological Argument Essay Hegel and Kant on the Ontological Argument ABSTRACT: I intend to present Kant s refutation of the ontological argument as confronted by Hegel s critique of Kant s refutation. The ontological argument can be exposed in a syllogistic way: everything I conceive as belonging clearly and distinctly to the nature or essence of something can be asserted as true of something. I perceive clearly and distinctly that existence belongs to the nature or essence of a perfect being; therefore, existence can be stated as true of a supremely perfect being, that is, perfect being exists. I intend to argue that Kant criticizes both the major and minor premises. To the major premise, he objects that there is an unqualified passage from the logical to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Premise 2 holds the central idea of the ontological argument: it implies that existence is a property or quality, and as such should take part of the essence of a supremely perfect being. Such conception could be expressed in the following derived argument: 1) All perfections belong clearly and distinctly to the essence of a supremely perfect being; 2) Existence is a perfection therefore, existence belongs to the essence of a supremely perfect being II. Kant s Refutation of the Ontological Argument Kant s criticism aims at both premises of the main argument. To the major premise, he objects that there is an unjustified passage from the logical to the ontological level: But the unconditioned necessity of judgments is not the same as an absolute necessity of things. The absolute necessity of the judgments is only a conditioned necessity of the thing, or of the predicate in the judgment (KrV, B621) In other words, to conceive that S is P doesn t imply the necessary existence of S. • 41. Total Quality Management Theory Introduction Most organizational management theories descend either from Frederick Taylor s scientific management theory or from Elton Mayo s human relations model. Total Quality Management (TQM) theory grew out of existing organizational management theories, in part, as a response to the problems in those theories. Edwards Deming and Joseph Juran are most responsible for the development of TQM. Deming and Juran began work on TQM in the 1930s and continued shaping the management model into the 1990s. During the 1930s, Deming and Juran studied with Walter Shewhart who developed Statistical Quality Control (SQC) theory. SQC argued that as quality improves, costs go down and productivity increases. IS Admissions a production organization is responsible for processing applications for admission to the COT. If IS Admissions implemented the core concepts of TQM theory identified in this essay, the office would be managed as follows: 1. Promoting stakeholder satisfaction will be championed by the program manager. Juran defines stakeholders and customers those who will be impacted or affected by the products and processes required to attain the quality goals. IS Admissions should consider current and potential customers and stake holders both internal and external. External customers or stakeholders are those directed served by IS Admissions. Internal customers or stakeholders are the individuals or groups that receive the results from any individual s work. An organization must meet the needs of both internal and external customers. • 42. Why The United States Can Make Any Toys With Greater... The United States can make certain toys with greater productive efficiency than can China. Yet we import those toys from China. However the main reason why the U.S. has become so dependent upon China for goods is that production costs are less in China than the U.S. Reduced production costs are so attractive to companies the benefits of low cost production are passed on to customers with lower prices on goods the relationships U.S. companies have with China are important because of the variety of products available from China. Adam Smith born in 1723 was a Scottish political economist and philosopher famous by his influential book The Wealth of Nations. Smith proposed in his book that a nation s wealth should be judged not by this metric but by the total of its production and commerce. Smith wrote in his book that that productive labor should be made even more productive by deepening the division of labor. Smith describes the evolution through feudalism into a stage of society requiring new institutions, such as market determined rather than guild determined wages and free rather than government constrained enterprise. If a foreign country can SUPPLY us with a commodity cheaper than we ourselves can make it, better buy it of them with some part of the produce of our own industry, employed in a way in which we have some advantage. It was suggested that this may be due to both diseases sharing similar genes and proteins, providing even more reason to research further into proteins such as the immunophilins, which have a role in both diseases.
