Personal Narrative-Strength Training
I had Gwen go into meeting as soon as she completed fit training. I gave her he weekly scorecard
sheet and praised her for a wonderful FBC completion percentage. I had a made a note on there about
that and also notated that she also needed to continue working hard on her DPO and add on sales.
I then gave Gwen her take a peek from the prior week. Her talk time average was 8:19 and her ACW
average was 0:06. When she saw this she stated she was trying. I said yes, but we have to get it down.
I then asked her what else I could do to help get her time down. I explained that there were going to be
days that she worked that my coaching time did not allow me to meet with her. I explained I had
specially asked to coach extra time in order to meet with her. She said she didn t know. I reminded her
Cheryl , myself, and Chelsea prior to her departure had all met with her, we had y corded with her, and
we ve sent emails to her and there has been no improvement.
We discussed that she had emailed her survey numbers to Cheryl and me which she had commented
that they were not too shabby . I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I stated this was the reason for many long pauses on the phone and asked why she wrote them all
down when she had the items in the system and online. She replied that it was because she would
forget. I told her she shouldn t forget it if she has the item in two other places. When it was obvious
she wanted to continue to write down as a crutch I presented, Okay, what if you reversed the order you
did this and you keyed the item in the system and online first in order to verify the item and at least
comment about the item. This would cut down on some of the long pauses that she would have in the
calls. I stated that if she shaved off a few seconds here in each phone call that that would help greatly.
She said she would try

Investigating Concepts Of A Digital Device Essay
The purpose of this assessment is to investigate concepts relating to a system that is used within a
digital device. For my assessment, I chose the A5158 model MP3 player that belongs to my dad.
The features of this device include:
High Contrast LCD Display, Resolution 96 x 32
Integrated Flash Memory
Plays MP3 and WMA Digital Music Files FM Radio
4GB Stores up to 1000 songs
USB 2.0 Hi Speed for fast file transfers
Key lock preventing accidental key presses
Integrated 100mAh Lithium rechargeable battery for up to 5 hours playback
Data Representation
In computer terms, a bit is a numeric value either a zero or a one that holds a single unit of digital
information. Bits are usually strung together in a sequence eight bits normally equals one byte. Bits
are used to write binary numbers, which can be used to store decimal numbers such as 244 or 93 as
patterns of ones and zeroes.
ASCII or American Standard Code for Information Interchange is a computer code that was developed
to allow computers to convert human text into bits that computers could understand. In ASCII code,
for example, the letter A is 65 a number that can then be converted into the binary value 1000001.
In the 1960 s, the 7 bit ASCII table was first adopted. Within a 7 bit number, 128 different characters
can be stored English letters from A Z (upper and lower case), numeric digits from 0 9 and special
characters such as !/*+. The eighth bit was used to detect transmission errors.

An Explanation Of Why Sociologists Are Interested On Class
Class is important as it can determine various aspects that will have a significant impact and influence
on how people s lives are shaped. Feminists have argued for other things to be included such as social
divisions to show how they intersect with class. Economic inequalities can have an impact on class as
they can determine a person s status, wealth, income and lifestyle. Class is important as social
inequalities exists amongst the rich and poor. Important social factors include poverty, health and
education. A person s identity is just as important as their class. People may face discrimination due to
their identity, whether that may be due to their gender, age, ethnicity or disability. Social mobility is
where people are in a different social class now from which they were brought up in. However
sociologists argue that class is less important in contemporary society today than it once used to be.
The purpose of this essay is to provide an explanation on why sociologists are interested in class. This
assignment will define what class is and to what extent class matters. Other social divisions will be
explored in this assignment to show how they intersect with class. The social divisions which intersect
with class which will be discussed include economic and social inequalities, social mobility and
identity. The beliefs from well known theorists, Karl Marx and Max Weber who disagreed on the
nature of class, will also be included to support the main points which are

The Start Of A Great Adventure Essay
The start of a great adventure, begins with the idea of becoming more then yourself. The first time I
started thinking about what career I wanted was in third grade as a kid. Are teachers just simple asked
us who do you want to be when you grow up? I was probing my mind for this answer, but couldn t not
found the answer. I said the basic thing every kid would say I would like to be a veterinarian. I figured
that would be good career because I loved animals and it doesn t pay to bad. My mind kept that
question till I found an answer that made sense in what I want to be. The start is always a difficult
thing to do in founding out what you really want to be. I know what I wanted as much as anybody. I
wanted a house, a wife, and kids living in a nice place that my kids will be able to grow and love. I
also wanted to be a nutritionist, engineer, architect, sports medicine, and something related to sports.
As I was comparing the many majors and how I am I noticed a pattern. I like the idea of creating
things, helping others, and hands on activities. That is the reason I went with physical therapy because
it is close to sports, hands on, and helping others. When choosing my major, I couldn t just apply for
the program. I had to have a undergraduate degree before hand. The reason being is that it is a
Doctorate degree and I have to complete certain requirements to apply for it before I actually can do it.
It really doesn t matter what major I go for as long as I do the

American Opportunity Tax Credit For Higher Education Essay
Introduction American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC) was part of the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (ARRA: P.L. 111 5), enacted by Congress to give financial assistance to low income
families and students and to promote higher education in the United States. Cost of Colleges and
University are in constant increase year to year and the need for a postsecondary education as a mean
to achieve personal growth, community and industry development in the present globalization of the
economies make its necessary for government and lawmaker and families to understand the impact of
the American Opportunity Tax Credit and how to extend it to more families and beyond the 2017
actual limitation. How can students and families make the best use of this important education
program and avoid common tax return mistakes when claiming tax credit under the American
Opportunity Tax Credit as outline by the Tax Code. This research is intended to review relevant
sources including the IRC. Tax Foundation Reports, US Treasury Reports and Tax Bills submitted to
Congress and investigate the history of the tax credit for higher education, the current state of the
American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC) and evaluate some of the benefits and limitations of this

The Importance Of Fidelity In The Lais Of Marie De France
The story of Eliduc exemplifies the importance of fidelity in love when dealing with adultery.
Allowing Eliduc to marry his true love and giving herself fully to god is the most loving and giving
thing she could do, this is a prime example of selflessness. This story incorporates two types of
selflessness, the love of god and love between man and women. The characters in the love triangle
that forms all suffer at one time or another which leads to the question is that why this story ended
with true love prevailing and there being happy ending for all involved? The common denominator in
the Lais of Marie de France is the most unifying ideal which is suffering for the sake of true courtly
love. In the prologue Marie wrote, when a truly

cinema. Through the emergence of cinema styles, all films are to be considered transnational. This
essay will argue that transnational cinema could be emerging to a new level in the film industry. The
clip provided with the essay explores the potential of transnational films with the context of films

Hess and Zimmermann mention that conventional categories have blurred and there s demands for
new political and aesthetic responses in transnational cinema (John Hess 2006). These transnational
films I believe would be growing significantly in the film industry as a part of film history.
As seen in most third transnational films from Asia countries, popular cultural products criss cross
cultural borders everyday therefore these cultures remain circulating in transnational cinema (Aquilia
2006). The power of transnational cinema could not be ignored as global screen reflects a
transnational cultural exchange (Aquilia 2006). My clip shows that those sections of films we studied
consisting crossover boundaries of actors and actresses, overseas settings and different cultures
portrayed. Athique also argues that non Indians and people with little Indian history background found
enjoyment in the mixture of Bombay films (Athique 2008). Thus, transnational cinema in both ways
depicted the cultural identity audiences can relate to, as well as transnational culture exchange among
the globe.
Transnational cinema is a developing concept. It changes alongside the film industry. The ever
increasing of Diasporas and ever developing cultural identity help shape transnational cinema.
Transnational cinema is an emergence of cultural phenomenon and it develops though time. The clip I

The case asks for evaluation of different financing options. Gilad Harpaz is Purinex s CFO and he

The company planned to take its new receptor selected drugs into clinical trials to address a broad
range of potential indications. In June 2004, the company with several clinically and commercially
promising drugs in development had reached a turning point. Sometime in the next four to twelve
months, the company stood an excellent chance of establishing a partnership with a major
pharmaceutical company. That partnership would enable Purinex to develop one of its leading
compounds into a drug for the treatment of the world s deadliest and most widespread diseases.
Gilad Harpaz, Purinex s chief financial officer believed that if a partnership deal came through, the
company would be in an excellent position to carry out its mission. Moreover, securing a deal was
practically a prerequisite for any eventual initial public offering, which was an attractive exit strategy
for many of the company s investors. Harpaz also believed that the company could either attempt to
secure financing now or wait until it struck a partnership deal. He has three options to consider for the
company which he...

People watched in shock; Protesters and none protesters circled around as Gregory Lee Johnson lit the
American Flag on fire. Why would a man disrespect a symbol such as the American flag, that
represents freedom, liberty and democracy? Was he protected by the constitution s first amendment?
The Supreme Court answered all these questions we had by voting in favor of Johnson. Johnson s
intentions were only political, and he as the freedom of speech. The Supreme Court was correct on
this decision on letting Johnson go, since he was protected by his amendments, and no matter what the
action was, if the amendment gives us the right, we should be entitled to our freedoms. In August of
1984, supporters came to Dallas Texas to come to the Republican National Convention, where
President Ronald Reagan was being elected to run for president for a second round. Outside of these
supporters for the presidential leaders were protesters. These protesters were angry with the new

Kicking over flower pots, spray painting walls, and they acted out nuclear attacks. When the protesters

Johnson stood next to our desecrating flag. 45 minutes after Johnson was arrested by Texas police.

What Is Black Beauty Essay
Black Beauty is a book written by a British female author named Anna Sewell. It tells a story of a
horse called black beauty from its own perspective. Once upon a time there was a horse which is black
but with a white star on his forehead. He looked so smart and his master nicknamed him Black Beauty
. Black Beauty was well built, clever and tender. He experienced many ups and downs in his life, and
had many friends, including horses and people. He was ever well reared but he was also treated badly
even tortured nearly to death. When he came to the end of his life, he happened to return to his first
master and spend his rest of life peacefully.

What is the most important I have learned from this book is that common sense and kindness make a
better world.
Common sense is of great importance in our life, anywhere and anytime. It is unquestionable. For
example, in this book, the so called common sense mainly means the knowledge about how to take
good care of a horse. In other fields, common sense is also needed. Without common sense, we cannot
handle things in a proper and correct way, or lead a good life. A story in this book impresses me a lot.
Once a boy was made to clean the horse black beauty . However, the guy was green handed and he
cleaned it with cold water, not knowing the harm of it; as a result, the horse got ill seriously. It proves
that common sense is necessary. We need common sense. But here comes a question: what on earth is
common sense? Maybe many people will give the answer that something which is known by most
people is common sense. I think it is wrong as many things taken for granted often are found wrong in
the end, such as the tradition of women s being in confinement after giving birth to a child,

From them, by emotional osmosis, she came to understand intimately the importance of appearance in

War had started almost five years ear, on September 1, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland. England

were terribly beaten. by the next spring, France had fallen into German hands. The British army had to
flee the Continent and escaped from the French port of Dunkirk with frightful losses. In the summer of
1940 the Germans, with their allies, the Italians, controlled all of western Europe. The German air
force began its attempt to bomb the British Isles into rubble. Nevertheless, the British began to think
about getting back onto the continent. They started planning an attack across the Channel even though
it seemed more likely that they would become the invaded rather than the invaders. Hitler threatened
to invade England. He went so far as to assemble a fleet of barges along the French coast, planning to
use them as assault boats. But he hesitated because he realized the risks of an amphibious attack. Also,
he knew that the British navy would destroy itself, if necessary in an attempt to smash a German
invasion fleet. Still the idea was tempting. The British knew as well as Hitler did that if the Germans
could make the landing successfully, England would be lost. Meanwhile, Royal Air Force fighter

DC Comics Essay
DC Comics as a media and entertainment company has rich roots in American pop culture since. DC
owns some of the most iconic and enduring characters in the past century. In 1938 DC published the
first Superman story in Action Comics no. 1. The massive success of the entirety of the superhero
genre can be traced back to this first story. DC holds the centerpieces of the Golden Age of comics;
like Batman (1939) and Wonder Woman (1941) (DeForest). Since 1969, DC was purchased by Warner

DC has the upperhand in terms of tradition and recognition, but is that enough? Marvel has become
the 21st cinematic universe powerhouse with nearly $11 billion in worldwide box office sales. It was
originally founded in 1938 as Timely Publications and by the 1950 s had become Atlas Comics.
However, the company began to gather traction in the 60 s with characters like the Fantastic Four.
Over the coming decades, creators like Stan Lee and Jack Kirby birthed characters like Spiderman,
Wolverine, and Loki. Marvel enjoyed decades of success in the production of comic books until they
hit a wall in the 1990 s. Seven of its most prized artists; Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Marc
Silvestri, Erik Larsen, Jim Valentino, and Whilce Portacio left to form Image Comics. This coupled
with a slump in the industry mid decade would leave Marvel on the verge of bankruptcy. In efforts to
repair Marvel financially, Isaac Perlmutter brought in Peter Cuneo who became chief executive officer
of Marvel in July 1999. At one point in 2000 the company had only $3 million in the bank, barely
enough to cover its cash needs (Reiss). Marvel was cut down to barebones; only 250 employees and

The Effects Of Video Games On Youth
A. Statement of the Research Problem:
The purpose of this research is to determine if aggressive behavior amongst the adolescent stem from
playing violent video games. In 1976, the first violent video game Death Race was released but, never
held accountable for wrong doings of the youths of that time era. It has only been in recent years that
society blames the violence within these games for the negative behaviors of youths. The graphics
within these games have consistently improved over that past few decades and now seem just as
realistic as life itself. Although, video games are more realistic than decades before, they are only one
minute factor in determining ones behavior. When determining if violent video games is a factor of
aggressive behavior , one needs to also needs to take into consideration how long that youth is playing
a particular game, is that youth being supervised as he or she is playing that particular game, what
type of social setting is involved, and etc. From bullying to high school shootings, violent video games
have been held responsible for numerous wrong doings by youths.
B. Literature Review:
Parents have been torn on whether video games impose positive or negative behaviors within our
adolescent. With new video games being created and the complexity standards being raised, the
concentration levels have increased causing the brain and hands to work harder and faster. This will
continue to help the video games through life with the handling

The Washington Monument
The most stunning monument in our capital is the Washington Monument. At 555 feet high, it is the
tallest such monument in the world. It is an obelisk by shape, yet not a true obelisk because it is not

The Washington Monument has an interesting history. The idea of a monument celebrating George

History of the Obelisk
The design of the Washington Monument is a common obelisk and can be found around the world. Its
history begins in Egypt. There were a great many obelisks in Egypt, 13 were originally in Karnak
where now only 5 stand. Possibly the best known obelisk in Egypt is at the Temple of Luxor in Thebe.
This obelisk was raised by Ramses II. He is credited with raising over fourteen obelisks at Tanis alone.
The obelisk at the Temple of Luxor was originally one of a pair of obelisks. This missing obelisks was
later removed and brought to Paris where it stands in the Place de la Concorde.
Many of the obelisks that were originally in Egypt are now in different parts of the world. It appears
that these obelisks were the focus of conquerors of Egypt. For example, the Persian leader Cambyses
dragged many of these obelisks to the ground and mutilated them. He especially targeted those
obelisks which bore the inscriptions of cruel deeds that were performed against the Persians. The
destruction of these obelisks by conquerors suggests that these enormous structures represented the
power of Egyptian leaders and were very important to the Egyptians.
Later conquerors removed many of these obelisks as souvenirs. Two great obelisks, which stood in
Egypt for a millennium and a half, were brought to Rome to commemorate Julius Caesar. These
became known as Cleopatra s needles. Ironically, one is now in London and

6 Megavoltage (MV) photons treat many superficial tumors. More importantly, they often require a

the sign that he is looking for he holds two roots in his hand. If the roots moved together in his hand
then it was O.K for a couple to marry. But if the roots did not move or moved together and one died
then the marriage would be forbidden. When the roots came together with no problem, the ceremony
went on. The priest prayed over the couple and warned them about being unfaithful because if they did
then they would go to a bad place when they died.1 Divorce did happen but was a rare occurrence. All
that had to be done was the dividing of blankets. Priests were allowed to marry but the woman had to
be of utmost character. She must be a virgin. She could not be a widow or divorced. Also this marriage
has to be approved by seven counselors. Once a couple is married then they can focus on having
children.
When a woman learns that she is pregnant she tells her husband whom then goes and builds her a

In all, 811,000 customers in NYC and Westchester lost power in the storm, with an additional 942,000
on Long Island. In total, 17% of New York City s landmass was flooded.
During the storm, NYC emergency service teams rescued over 2,200 people stranded by floodwaters.
Businesses, buildings and vital infrastructure had been destroyed. In immediate response, the local
NYC Food Truck Association and the Mayor s Fund to Advance NYC distributed more than 278,000
meals from 32 food trucks to people in shelters. Restoring power took anywhere from 4 days in parts
of NYC to 3 months in the Rockaways and cleanup efforts included removal of over 700,000 tons of
debris and 20,000 downed trees and limbs. By February 2012, local responses by the city also
included distributing 166,000 blankets, 1 million water bottles and 3.6 million meals with the help of
the National Guard. Nonprofits played a huge role in recovery efforts as well, more efficient to many
than the federal government in reaching the hardest affected areas. Besides the efforts of the American
Red Cross, nonprofits such as Occupy Sandy provided efforts of 7,000 volunteers to cook and
distribute more than 15,000 meals for weeks after the storm.
On December 7th, President Obama proposed a $60.4 billion emergency funding bill to help finance
recovery efforts. This bill was held up in the house of representatives as fiscal conservatives looked to

Frederick Douglass And Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels
Both authors Frederick Douglass and Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels focus on the topic of freedom.
Both authors argue that they are being oppressed. However, this is where the similarities end. Engels
and Marx believed that capitalism was a social system used by the proletariats to oppress the
bourgeoisie, and that the only way to be free was to fight back against the system. On the other hand,
Frederick Douglass focuses more on his individual story and his struggle for freedom, while he tries to
appeal to his audience from an ethical point of view. Frederick Douglass biography revolves around
the idea of freedom. After seeing a traumatizing incident as a child, Douglass slowly begins to realize
that he is not a free human being, but is a slave owned by other people. He is surrounded by a society
that devalues him and people like him, and systematically worked to keep them ignorant and
submissive. In this society, it is made clear that no slave is special, and everyone is replaceable. Rather
than accept this, Douglass struggles to maintain what little autonomy he was allowed to have. When
his one of his masters, Thomas Auld, bans his mistress, Sophia, from teaching Douglass how to read,
Douglass learned from the young boys on the street. His biography shows him transforming from an
ignorant child into his older, more learned self. Douglass sees the idea of slaves in a country that is as
passionate as about its revolution as America hypocritical; in fact, this is the basis

Essay The Thrill That Kills
The Thrill That Kills
Street racing has become a very dangerous sport in the 20th century. In the article The Thrill That
Kills by Paul Mark Rendon, he describes the dangers and consequences of illegal street racing. This
article was published Sept. 17, 2001 in MacLean s. This is an article that tries to reach out to street
racers and also anyone interested in knowing more about street racing and its dangers. The article
discusses how for the driver, racing is an exciting adrenaline rush, but for the people, is an
endangerment to their safety. The author uses facts like how dozens of innocent people have died due
to street racing. Even drivers themselves die because of losing control or hitting another car. This

They can put everyone around them in danger because of this. Some racers though do have years of
driving experience but when a driver is going at high speeds, even the slightest mis calculation can
lead them to their doom. A professional NASCAR racer could die in street racing, not because of their
driving, but because of the possibility of a random car to cross the traffic, because remember, they are
on a public road.
Paul Mark touches both the street racers and the general people s sides of emotions in this article. Paul
Mark is one of the few non street racers to admit how street racing is exciting, but is also quick to
come back to reality to recognize the consequences of it. Yes street racing is fun, exciting, and an
adrenaline rush, but it is not worth people dying over. The bottom line that Paul Mark explains in this
article is that people are dying. This is not going to be tolerated and will have police on a heavy crack
down against street racers.
Paul Mark touches us deep down inside by the use of telling about the people that died in his article. It
is all fun and games until someone dies. That is what it takes for people to realize how dangerous
street racing is. People feel remorse for those that have died and therefore feel the need to act against
the cause. No one wants to lose a loved one. The thought that the innocent person hit by one of the

Cider House Rules
The Cider House Rules The movie, The Cider House Rules, contains many different themes and
elements that could have been interpreted several different ways depending on the person and their
distinct preference. Some themes that are present within the movie include the dilemma of abortion,
the destiny of oneself, and other minor themes. These others which are spoken of, are not necessarily
main themes, but none the less remain pertinent and relevant to the way a movie goer views this film.
The debate was once dwelled upon in class concerning the appropriateness or the so called necessity
of certain portions of the film. These certain portions to which are being referred are as follows: first,

A fully clothed woman does not develop the same conclusion that was first intended by Manet. In
Classical art and in Renaissance art, nudity was relevant and useful to the expression of the idea that
the creator was trying to convey. Time has not changed the relevance or usefulness of nude art. First, it
must be stated that all nude art is not acceptable. Pornography and other forms should in no way be
considered as meaningful art. There is a certain underlying intelligence that cannot be separated from
nude art. Once this intelligence is removed, the nude art no longer holds any meaning or significance.
As can be seen from the previous evidence and other examples not mentioned, there are certain
patterns that art and artists have been following throughout the past years. One of the present
examples of the pattern is Cider House Rules. During the movie, there are two minor scenes which
present seemingly questionable material and which hold no meaning, but this is not the case. The first
scene, that needs clarification, is the sex scene in the woods. This scene involved the two characters,
Homer, played by Toby Macguire, and Candy, played by Charlize Theron. The second scene, that also
needs some clarification, was when Candy was laying on the bed only covered by a sheer white sheet.
Being sheer, the sheet allowed the viewer to see the complete naked figure of Candy. Some critics said

Summary Of The Poem I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud
Nature has multiple definitions, all having the ability to apply to Wordsworth s poem, I wandered
lonely as a cloud. The definitions of nature include nature as an essential quality and characteristics of
something, nature as an inherent force that directs the world, humans, or both, and nature as a material
world, sometimes with people, sometimes without, however the definitions of nature are not limited to
these three. By analyzing I wandered lonely as a cloud by William Wordsworth, all three definitions
apply to the poem, implying that the poem is based upon nature. In Wordsworth s poem, nature is the
main theme that defines the poem.
William Wordsworth s poem, I wandered lonely as a cloud, is about how nature had a direct impact
and connection with the speaker. As the speaker was wandering aimlessly as a cloud (1), the speaker
encountered a field of daffodils adjacent to an beauteous lake, where everything seemed to be
fluttering and dancing in the breeze. (6) The experience that the speaker undergoes displays what kind
of perspective the speaker has. As the speaker describes the view using similes, continuous as the stars
that shine , hyperbole, they [daffodils] stretched in never ending line (9), and by using vocabulary with
positive connotations, such as glee , gay , bliss , the speaker gives the impression that his perspective
towards nature is romantic. Romantic nature is separate from society, uplifting and restoring, and a
cure to the modern issues,

Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American...
In 1845 Frederick Douglass published his first book Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an
American Slave. This book not only showed people what life was truly like in the eyes of a slave, but
it became instrumental in propelling the abolitionist movement and helping it gain motion all across
the country. Douglass was truly a revolutionary person because throughout the duration of slavery,
African American people were not permitted to be educated. This was considered dangerous. It wasn t
until Frederick Douglass was moved to Boston, where slaves were treated more like people instead of
cattle, that he learned to read and write. When Frederick was 20 years old he escaped to Massachusetts
and began to learn more about the abolitionist movement; this lead to him writing his first book. None
of this would have been possible, however, without Douglass learning how to read and write.
Education is a major key in lifting people of color out of oppression.
The wife of Douglass s master began teaching him to read as he was just a boy at the time and he
appealed to her humanity. When Hugh Auld, Douglass s master, found out about what his wife was
doing he became livid and forbade her to teach him anymore. Auld said that if she taught him to read
he would become ...unmanageable, and of no value to his master. And that it would make Douglass
...discontented and unhappy. (Douglass, 20) It was at this moment that Douglass realized ...the white

Research Paper On State Lotteries
State Lotteries: Take a Second Look From the time the Europeans first landed on the Atlantic shore,
lotteries have been a part of the American society. According to Will Spink, most states are currently
operating a state lottery despite its bleak history in the U.S. (Spink 1). Since 1983, North Carolina has
introduced lottery bills in the legislature every year (NC Christian 15). North Carolina Governor, Mike
Easley, favors a lottery for increasing revenues for education (Analysis 2). However lucrative state
lotteries appear on the surface, they create even more moral and financial difficulties for citizens, and
this should encourage states to look at other means of resources instead of legalized gambling. In a

Governor Easley proposes that lottery taxes will supplement and not replace other taxes that support
education (Analysis 2). Other states have had the exact opposite to occur. In California, ninety percent
of school superintendents believe it had an adverse effect on their getting other funds for their schools.
In 1987, a study was conducted in Illinois that gave validity to what many lottery opponents claim
happens in many cases: While the lottery money to education increases, the total education funding in
the state budget increases at a lower rate than it has in previous years (Spink 3). Money magazine s
study proved that states with lotteries designate a lower percentage of their total budget to education
than do states without a lottery. However, proponents could point to the fact that lottery states on an
average spend more on education per student, than non lottery states (NC Insider 2). Research has
difficulty proving or disproving social consequences of lotteries. A survey by Gam Anon, the family
counterpart of Gamblers Anonymous, did reveal that ten percent of its members abused their children,
and fifty percent of the spouses reported physical and verbal abuse. Crimes like burglary, larceny, and
auto theft increase by an average of three percent in states that implement a state lottery. Sixty percent
of heavy gamblers admit to some sort of criminal activity within the past year . (Economic Facts 4).

The Cretaceous Paleogene Mass Extinction

The Cretaceous Paleogene boundary (K Pg boundary) was host to one of the three largest mass
extinctions in the past 500 million years. Evidence suggests it was the result of a large asteroid impact
approximately 65.5 million years ago in Chicxulub, Mexico; hence why the crater it formed was
named the Chicxulub crater. The crater was approximately 180 kilometres in diameter and was
believed to have led to the extinction of the dinosaurs amongst many other life forms including marine
plankton (calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifera) (Schulte et al., 2010). Furthermore, it
had a number of impacts on the atmosphere and environment including the creation of sulfuric acid

extinction and the Chicxulub impact are related.
The Yucatan 6 borehole provided significant evidence to suggest that there was an impact event that
took place. The composition of the melt rock was believed to have been the result of an impact rather

Groundwater Pumping In Florida
Groundwater Pumping The state of Florida is very dependent on groundwater, primarily for public and
agricultural supply. Indeed, the largest source of drinking water in Florida is groundwater from the
state s massive aquifer system; approximately ninety percent of the state s drinking water is extracted
from groundwater sources (Marella, 2004). According to Marella (2004), Between 1970 and 2000,
total freshwater withdrawals increased for public supply by 176 percent and for agricultural self
supplied by 87 percent (p. 1). As discussed previously, a growing population correlates with an
increase in the demand for groundwater resources. Groundwater is currently being pumped out of
Florida s aquifers faster than the state s abundant rainfall can refill them (Barnett, 2007, p.2). The
excessive pumping of groundwater can create subsurface voids because of the lowering of the water
table, which can lead to the development of sinkholes due to gravity and a loss of fluid pressure
support (Tihansky, 1999, p. 132). Waltham et al (2005) contend, The most widespread cause of
induced sinkholes is any form of water table decline, where the vertical drainage is quite literally

Warm Blooded Versus Cold Blooded Dinosaurs Essay
Warm Blooded Versus Cold Blooded Dinosaurs
At a time, scientists believed all dinosaurs were cold blooded. However, with a recent discovery of a
dinosaur found with a fossilized heart in the northern part of South Dakota in 1993, many
paleontologists are starting to think that there were some dinosaurs that were warm blooded.
Dinosaurs were first believed to be cold blooded because they were thought to be related closely to
reptiles which are cold blooded creatures. Cold blooded animals don t actually have cold blood,
instead they rely on the temperature from their environment to regulate their own body temperature.
They do this by taking advantage of external heat by basking in the sun, and by lying ... Show more

Because warm blooded animals don t have to rely on their environment for body temperature, they are
able to hunt at any time of the day or in any season, which is a great advantage over cold blooded
animals. Therefore this type of intense activity needs a fast metabolism which is much too high for a
cold blooded animal. Secondly, cold blooded animals have a hard time living in cold climates and
dinosaur fossils have been found in the colder environments (Eschberger). However, scientists believe
warm blooded animals would have suffered from the heat in warmer climates, where many fossils
have been discovered. Beverly Eschberger discusses how dinosaurs must have been only warm
blooded animals due to the factors of, bone structure, and histology, growth rates, predator to prey
ratios, speed and agility, rate of evolution, similarities with birds, and insulation. She also explains the
disadvantages of being a warm blooded animal: a much larger expenditure of energy to maintain
elevated metabolism and a commensurate increase in food requirements (Eschberger). Just as the
conclusion that dinosaurs were truly warm blooded becomes clearer, factors from the cold blooded
side switch everything around. Gigantothermy, rate of food supply, respiratory turbinates and lung
structure all cause scientists to believe dinosaurs were in fact cold blooded. There have been many
attempts to find the real resolution of whether or not dinosaurs were warm or cold

The Raven Edgar Allan Poe Analysis
The poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe can be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion,
the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his
representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of
evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Raven is
grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore is
to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that he had
deep feelings for. The tone of the poem suggests that he is very depressed that she is gone and is
mourning her death still. At first, when the narrator hears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He needs to let go of the death of her but just like the raven, it is lingering around him causing him
more sorrow. Nevertheless, the bird hangs around him just like his depression about his loss relating
the raven to the death of Lenore, or death in general. When the narrator keeps hearing the raven say,
Nevermore he thinks maybe that this is the only word that the bird knows. Then as he sits and the
raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will
leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that
maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so
lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then
decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the
word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad
like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of
the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt,
and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). It is at this moment when the narrator s mood darkens even more and
he connects the raven fully to Lenore. The way the bird is looking at him makes him think about the

Police Agencies And Police Enforcement Agencies
Abstract
It s important to address the issues police agency s faces on a regular. Police agencies have a number
of problems with controlling racial profiling, maintaining acceptable recruiting and retaining a skilled
workforce, and reducing community violence. These factors are extremely indurate. However, the
issues can be resolved. Law enforcement officers often force to face negative stereotyping.
Nevertheless, police agency s are able to overcome such an obstacle. There exists a growing sentiment
in many communities about the badness of all cops J. Tyler, D. (n.d.). Police agencies are forced to
deal with the struggle of defeating trust issues with the community. Police have experienced problems
with recruiting and selecting applicants. Since September 11, 2001, the problem has become more
acute, as a military reserve call ups and an expanding police role strain agency resources across the
country A. Tangel, W. (2004) . Reducing crime has always been very hard for police to tackle, it s very
hard to measure the performance of law enforcement agencies. Throughout the next three decades,
traditional measures of police agency performance became entrenched within the policing profession
with little debate and little fanfare R. Maguire, E. (2010). However, again there are numbers of
solutions for these issues. One good, useful solution would to be get more money for the law

Artemisia Gentileschi Madonna And Child
The bond between mother and child has been a constant theme in the world of the humanities. While
that bond has been the same throughout history, its portrayal in art has varied from decade to decade.
Two artists, Artemisia Gentileschi and Mary Cassatt, chose to create pieces based on this bond, but the
use of mediums and the influence from religion (or the lack thereof) help to distinguish between the
artists and their time periods. Artemisia Gentileschi s Madonna and Child, was created during the
Baroque Period, c. 1609 (Brash), when the Catholic Church was sponsoring the arts to return to
traditions Protestantism had disregarded (Baroque Artists). Created in Rome, this painting shows the

Even with the difference in periods of time, both women chose to paint a mother and child in a tender
moment. One, Artemisia s show the mother preparing to feed her young, while Mary Cassatt chose to
depict a mother s embrace. Both show the unity in the maternal bond. The mothers in each of the
images appears relaxed, content with her child. In Madonna and Child (Brash) , the mother s face is
serene as she looks down at her hungry child. Her body is relaxed and leaning in. In The Young
Mother ( The Young Mother ), the mother sits, with a slight smile, giving her the appearance of bliss
and contentment in the simple act of holding her child. The child in each painting is an older baby,
instead of a newborn, allowing the artists to show the child being old enough to hold himself up and
be aware of his surroundings. By doing this, the artists were able to show the connection between the
mother and child is mutual, that the child is aware of his mother s love in holding or feeding, and feels
love in return. both artists use light to spotlight the mother and child. While the Baroque Period used
bolder light and shadow (Baroque and the Age of Enlightenment 2.14), and Impressionists focused
more on the way light fell across surfaces (Gersh Nesic), both utilized light to call attention to the
mother and child. Finally, both images focus on only the mother and child with no other beings or

Nathaniel Mackey s Bedouin Hornbook Essay
Nathaniel Mackey s Bedouin Hornbook
A Bedouin is a nomad and a nomad a wanderer. Nathaniel Mackey seems to wander far and away in
his Bedouin Hornbook, a series of fictional letters addressed to an Angel of Dust and signed by the
ambiguous N. N. interprets passages of improvisation, analyzing others musical expression in
surprising detail to the point that his unquestioning sincerity and self assurance are almost laughable.
That N. can glean meaning from music in such a direct and certain manner is problematic because his
tone implies that there is only one correct interpretation of music. In addressing the issue of how
music conveys meaning, Mackey seems to wander in two disparate directions. After asserting each

By employing deceptively similar language in these instances, Mackey sets up a parallel between
music and speech that he uses to make his point about how meaning is conveyed through art.
Aunt Nancy not only challenges Lambert s interpretation of the music, but by extension, every
unchallenged musical interpretation N. offers throughout the novel. But Aunt Nancy faces the same
problem as N. when articulating her complaint. While asserting an alternate interpretation, she
assumes a tone that claims hers as singularly true, which seems hypocritical. Since Aunt Nancy
commits the same contradiction as N., Mackey foreshadows a reconciliation of our understanding of
that contradiction.
Mackey first uses the argument between Aunt Nancy and Lambert to assert that improvisation itself is
the goal of music, rather than a device used to carry a separate meaning. The dispute arises when the
group begins to dissect Lambert s solo. While Djamilaa, Penguin and N. are enthusiastic about the
piece, Aunt Nancy sits sulking. When prompted, she divulges a resentment of the implied attack on
her regarding her increased involvement with the violin at the congas expense (132). Lambert
disagrees and defends his playing, saying that he was genuinely sorry that she d chosen to take the
questions his piece had raised in that way, though he welcomes the opportunity to make

The Narative Structure of the Goodfellas
Goodfellas narrative structure creates an argument parallel to the proceedings in Plato s Republic,
Book II Book IX, in which audience members are asked to re evaluate their own facility toward filmic
influences by first idolizing and then reprimanding the tyrannical man. Martin Scorsese makes the
gangster life, or the life of an unjust man, seem easy and preferable through his use of romantic
elements in his film. His unjust man, Henry Hill, is protected from every angle from the law by way of
his position in the mob, and thus is free from punishment. However, when the narrative form of the
film switches, it is revealed that Henry is not protected from his own self indulgence and that his life
is much worse than that of a just individual a man free of harsh personal burdens.
Martin Scorsese makes the concept of the Ring of Gyges obtainable for his protagonist Henry Hill,
and for his audience, through alluring narrative and filmic elements.
In Goodfellas, protagonist Henry Hill is given freedom from the law, freedom from punishment, and is
allowed to exploit every corner of his desires. He is given power, protection, and prestige by his
fellow mobsters and in his narration claims that he is better than the suckers in the well . In Henry s
narration he is constantly ambiguous in the face of adversity. For example, when Henry describes how
his father beat him when he was younger, he simply explains The way I saw it, everybody has to take

RESULTS DISCUSSION
The experiment used qualitative analysis to determine two cations in an unknown solution. In Part A,
identified either silver or lead that was interfused into the metal nitrate salts solution. In Part B,
calcium or barium would appear. In Part C, another method of qualitative analysis was performed by
cation flame tests. The various metal chloride solutions would be used to observed and recorded the

There are more than one trillion barrels of crude oil in the whole world. And there are also different
kinds of faults under the ground. Fault is a crack in the crust of earth resulting from the displacement
of one side with respect to the other. Oil migration means that oil spo ntaneously move from high
pressure area to low pressure area, oils always move upward. Oil accumulation means that oil always
accumulate in their relatively smallest potential energy area. Fault plays very important role in the oil
migration and accumulation. Faults can be di vided to opened faults and closed faults which are
relative concepts. Opened

George Miller s Mad Max Franchise
Mad Max: Road Fury has been consider one of the best movies of the summer. It is the fourth
installation in George Miller s Mad Max franchise. The most interesting thing about this release,
however, is that although it is the fourth movie of the series, it come almost thirty years after the
release of the last movie in the franchise. The development, financing, and eventual production of
Fury Road is incredibly interesting because although almost everything went wrong, it still became a
successful movie, both critically and in the box office. A decade after the release of the third
installment of the Mad Max franchise, Beyond the Thunderdome, Warner Bros. began to develop a
Mad Max TV show. However, at the time, the 90s, a TV show that violent would never have been
aired, and as such, they began to focus on a fourth Mad Max movie, set for the late 90s. (Meslow) In
2001, 9/11 derailed the movie for financial reasons. In Miller s own words, Everything closed down,
shipping closed down, insurance closed down and most of all the American dollar collapsed by about
25% within a few weeks. Additionally, the studio decided that such bleak times called for happier
movies, because of this, Miller decided to work on Happy Feet instead. (Bravin) By 2003, the Mad
Max movie was set to begin filming in Namibia. However, the location was determined to be a
security risk, causing it to be delayed once again. By 2006, Mel Gibson began to distance himself
from the movie, thinking that it

Why Should Students Be Allowed To Carry Concealed Weapons...
Hunter Humphries Writing Skills II Dr. Woodberry December 2, 2017 Concealed Weapons on College
Campuses Students walk college campuses thinking of homework, friends, social happenings, but
rarely thinking about their safety. Students on college campuses are defenseless against an armed
assailant because an armed assailant can shoot and harm many students in a short time before the
police arrive. There are opposing views about allowing concealed weapons on college campuses, and
the debate has been making news lately with the number of school shootings and people getting killed
and injured rising. According to Robert Birnbaum in The Magazine of Higher Learning, More Guns
advocates argue that college students and faculty should be able to carry weapons for their own
protection, particularly since history has shown that colleges can t protect them from assailants
(Birnbaum 7). For students to properly defend themselves against armed assailants, they should be
allowed to carry concealed weapons on campus. One reason students should be allowed to carry
concealed weapons on campus is because assailants would be more reluctant to open fire on a campus
if they knew students were carrying concealed weapons. One way to protect against a mass shooter is
to allow those who are licensed to carry their arms with them into school. Without concealed weapons,
students are defenseless against an armed assailant. According to Nadia Nedzel in Academic
Questions, For a potential mass

Persuasive Essay On The Driving Age
Do you really wanna be locked up at your house until you re 18 just because you can t drive yet. The
driving age should not be raised it should stay at 16, teens that are sixteen years old should be able to
start driving. The first time behind the wheel, with no parents, just you and the car. Of course, kids
will have to be more careful, and more responsible while driving. The reasons why I say that the
driving age shouldn t change is because kids in high school are in sports or in after school activities
and parents may not be able to pick or drop them off, they can help their parents with errands, and
lastly, kids are working at that age.
Teens in high school are in sports or in after school activities. Having the kids to wait for the parents
to come and pick them up to go drop them off may be a pain cause the kids will be late to practice. In
our school, there are many after school activities such as tutoring, sports, clubs and other events. If
students were unable to drive, then most of the after school activities would be unsuccessful. This
student is talking about how being late to an activity or a sport will affect you from playing or even
joining a club. This really affects the students because they have after school activities, work, games,
meetings, and on top of that they get hours and hours of homework. When being late to a game, or
even work you re pretty much going to have to spend extra time for being late or maybe not even
showing up cause your parents didn t pick you up on time. They can help their parents with errands.
Teens being able to help their parents with errands would be a lot more helpful. When parents are not
able to pick up someone or go get something from the store their kids could do that for them. With
their driving license students can at least run their small errands like paying a visit to the library for
research or going to the store to get something, even the small thing has a big influence on us. Even
the kids could go and do errands that they need to do, having them drive would be so much better.
Don t want constantly use their parents as a taxi While the kids having to go somewhere they will be
asking their parents to take them somewhere every

The Statement Of Financial Statements
FIN 48 Summary
At the beginning of November in 2007, the Statement of Financial Statements (SFAS) board decided
to postpone the enactment of FIN 48 financial reporting and accounting and income taxes until later
that year on December 15, 2007. The purpose of FIN 48 is to force public companies to analyze
company s tax positions and evaluate the probability that their tax position will require them to be
audited and if they are audited will their records be sufficient and accurate. If an organization finds
that their tax position is likely to not be sustained a liability is created and the tax benefit of their
position decreases. Some tax positions that organizations should think about include the choice not to
file a return in a certain location, a shift of revenue between tax jurisdictions, the characterization of
revenue or a choice to not include reporting taxable income in tax documents. Additionally, a choice
to classify a transaction, organization, or other position in a tax return as tax exempt, extra
compensation in a C Corporation, international transfer pricing, Inventory capitalization, and
unrelated business income (Feeley Driscoll, P.C, 2008) Summary
This description of an organizations tax position as a result of FIN 48 is a process that involves two
steps, one being recognition and two being measurement. In step one the organization determines how
likely it is that their stated tax position will be maintained after being audited. This includes

Life Orientation Line Dancing Portfolio
10 August 2015
Section B:
Definition: a type of country and western dancing in which dancers line up in a row without partners
and follow a choreographed pattern of steps to music.
History: Line dancing originated before Christ and it originated from another kind of dance called
Contra dancing which was done in the New England states in the early 1800s. The Contra was set up
in such a way that there would be two lines facing each other one line would be men and the other line
would be woman. A couple would then step into the middle and do their own routine down the line
and then the next couple would come forward and so on and so forth.
Skills: 1. Count to the beat of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the strengths that I realized while dancing was that I have a good ear for hearing the beat of the
music and find it easy to keep to the rhythm of the dance. I also found it easy to remember the steps
and the order of the steps. I struggled with the technicalities of certain steps. In the beginning I also
struggled with the enthusiasm that was needed in the dance due to a lack of confidence but this
enthusiasm increased as my confidence with the dance increased. I enjoyed learning choreography and
dancing in time to the music but I did not enjoy how some people were singled out and forced to
dance in front of the entire class. Line dancing was very beneficial not only physically but it also
teaches a lot of life lessons that cannot be learned anywhere else such as discipline and to respect and
appreciate women. I would participate in further line dancing activities because it is a good
opportunity to get to know new people and become involved in new thing and learn new skills. Line
dancing can improve confidence and self esteem so I would therefore do it again if I was struggling
with these things. I personally highly enjoyed going to the line dancing lessons as it was a way for me
to escape from the busy life of a matric student. It gave me a chance to forget about all other work and
subjects and allowed me to express myself in such a way that it relieved stress from my everyday

Analysis Of 5 Reasons To Vote For Trump By Nicholas Kristof
hose to work on this article, 5 Reasons to Vote for Trump by Nicholas Kristof at the New York Times,
because I found interesting the fact that it uses satire. It gives 5 reason why one should vote for
Donald Trump, but they are reasons that are not ones that one would actually want in a president,
however, it gives outrages explanations to justify them. I believe this whole article in general is
biased. The title 5 Reasons to Vote for Trump makes one believe they will get 5 legit reason as to why
Trump should be president, as you start reading one realizes that they are reasons, but not favorable
ones. In this article the reporter is making subjective comments about a presidential candidate, thus
favoring their opponent. Words that came

Lolita Unreliable Narrator
The novel Lolita, written by Vladimir Nabakov, contains perhaps the utmost example of the unreliable
narrator. Many readers have questions Nabakov s character after reading this story. As Humbert claims
in the story that he toyed with the doctors and nurses when he was institutionalized, he toys with us,
the readers, and makes very convincing arguments for our sympathies. His nature is very controlling,
mocking and delusional as it appears through his lyrical narration. While he does this, many readers
who dive into the life of Humbert Humbert see him as an honest narrator who never denies his
inexcusable actions. Throughout the novel, two main aspects of Humbert s unreliability are very
prevalent throughout the read: Humbert s insanity and his use of language. Analyzing what an
unreliable narrator does to a novel is an important theme to consider as well. With that being said,
highlighting the evidence throughout Lolita is very crucial for readers to analyze and understand. ...

Throughout Lolita, Humbert is always trying to gain reader sympathy. His motivation being a slight
sense of guilt for using Lolita that escalates during the course of the novel. Humbert wants to avoid
taking responsibility for his action in its entirety. More precisely Humbert s eventual murder of Clair
Quilty and robbing Lolita of her childhood. As an unreliable narrator Humbert employs several
different methods in attempting to affect the reader. Exaggerating his insanity in numerous occasions,
and using language to affect the reader s point of view just reinforce Humbert s complete unreliability.
In Humbert s language, introducing the concepts of the nymphet and the enchanted hunter are his
attempt to blind the reader by glorying himself along with his deep attraction to young girls. Labeling
Lolita as a nymphet allows Humbert to take advantage of her without feeling a large sum of

TAXATION
Taxation
Taxation What extent of government regulation allows the citizens of the country the maximum
amount of liberty? How much should the government intervene to protect the consumer? These are
questions that every society must answer when developing their economic system. And for each
question there are multiple answers. Some believe that little to no regulation is necessary, that the
market place has natural laws of its own. Others disagree, saying that it is the government s duty to
protect the individual from the evils of the free market. Both solutions have definite attributes. The
government intervenes the market to correct serious market failures. A market is defined as an

The tax will affect the demand for cigarettes. It has been shown through several empirical studies that
imposition of taxes leads to a decrease in smoking. Those states that have imposed taxes have
witnessed lower levels of smoking and those states that have not imposed steep taxes have witnessed
lower levels of reduction in smoking. As smoking becomes more expensive, the number of cigarettes
smoked falls. There is no direct effect on the supply, however, when the demand for cigarettes fall the
supply will be reduced. Several factors of production that are employed in producing cigarettes will be
unemployed. Employees will have to leave for other industries. Land and buildings that are involved
in cigarette production and distribution will be reduced. For instance, the New York offices of Altria
are being closed down and about 400 workers will be laid off. The increase in taxes will affect the
equilibrium price and quantity. The price of cigarettes will go up initially by $1 if a tax of $1 is
imposed. However, in reaction to the additional taxation and reduction in demand, cigarette companies
will come up with some brands of cigarettes that cost less, the net effect on price will be that the final
prices of the cigarettes will increase, but if low price introductions are taken into account the price
increase will be lower than $1. In case of quantity, there will be a

Theodicy and Ethics Within Islam
Theodicy and Ethics within Islam Critically analyzing and reflecting upon the concept of Theodicy
and Ethics, one may interpret these two concepts to have great influence upon the significance of
Islam. The functions of these two concepts are to further broaden one s understanding of Islam. Both
concepts are essential to learning about the Islamic way of life. Moreover, in Islam theodicy and ethics
serve as the basis of the problem of evil, right and wrong, the principle of taklif, practicing
forgiveness, and many other doctrines. Muslims render the Qur an to be their foundation of morality.
In this reflection paper, the problem of evil and the basis for moral action will be used to further
supplement our perception of Islam. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Islam, God has given us the choice of right and wrong and if Muslims follow the path of
the Qur an, then they shall receive salvation. Additionally, God is omniscient but man still needs
punishment for any evil acts. The problem of evil arises when free moral beings choose to do evil acts.
We, as free beings, tend to abuse our rights of freedom and cause harm to others and ourselves. For the
evil acts committed by man, there are great consequences. Suffering, above all, will be faced by God
in order to challenge man to move freely toward moral perfection. Nonetheless, Allah forgives all
those who accept responsibility for their actions; man is once again relieved of impurities. God is all
merciful. Yes, one does wrong, but when one is truly sorry, Allah will forgive man, for Allah is just
and benevolent. The concept of Ethics is however, not new to my understanding, but I think of this
reflection to be one that will broaden my spectrum of moral action of world religions other than my
own. The basis or foundation of moral action resides in the Qur an and Sunna. Moreover, the Qur an
leads the way for developing a moral lifestyle in compliance with Allah. The Qur an shows man a
passageway to reality, to a complete and forgiving world. Furthermore, the Qur an and the Sunna
incorporate the fundamentals and ethics Muslims should fulfill. The Qur an serves as a basis,

Affects of European Law on English Law
Question 1:
The European law has affects the current English law by stating which particular bodies of rules
needed to be taken into consideration. And the commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations
1993 whose passed principles which modified the traditional common law agency rules has also
produced an entirely new and commercially important form of agency.
Courts may use the instrument s preamble or the Directives explanatory notes in order to define the
aim of the European Directives.
Termination of the agent s authority is prospective and not retrospective. Both principal and agent is
able to sue each other on claims which accumulated prior termination. Such example where agent
could be sued for negligent performance of his obligation due to agent s illness.
Thus, if agency is contractual, the contract could only be terminable on a reasonable notice to prevent
a breach of contract by principal.
The relationship between Principal and Agent is stated in common law where agent is in a fiduciary
relationship with the Principal. Agency is the relationship arising where one person, the principal (P),
appoints another, the agent (A) to bring about, modify or terminate legal relations between the
principal and a third party (T)
The type of agent in this case is sales agent where the sales figure is observed from time to time by the
principal.
In this question, it is concerning the commercial agents which defined under the Regulation

Bits are usually strung together in a sequence eight bits normally equals one byte. Bits are used to write binary numbers, which can be used to store decimal numbers such as 244 or 93 as patterns of ones and zeroes. An Explanation Of Why Sociologists Are Interested On Class Class is important as it can determine various aspects that will have a significant impact and influence on how people s lives are shaped. Feminists have argued for other things to be included such as social divisions to show how they intersect with class. Economic inequalities can have an impact on class as they can determine a person s status, wealth, income and lifestyle. Class is important as social inequalities exists amongst the rich and poor. Important social factors include poverty, health and education. A person s identity is just as important as their class. People may face discrimination due to their identity, whether that may be due to their gender, age, ethnicity or disability. Social mobility is where people are in a different social class now from which they were brought up in. However sociologists argue that class is less important in contemporary society today than it once used to be. The purpose of this essay is to provide an explanation on why sociologists are interested in class. This assignment will define what class is and to what extent class matters. Both authors argue that they are being oppressed. However, this is where the similarities end. Engels and Marx believed that capitalism was a social system used by the proletariats to oppress the bourgeoisie, and that the only way to be free was to fight back against the system. On the other hand, Frederick Douglass focuses more on his individual story and his struggle for freedom, while he tries to appeal to his audience from an ethical point of view. Frederick Douglass biography revolves around the idea of freedom. After seeing a traumatizing incident as a child, Douglass slowly begins to realize that he is not a free human being, but is a slave owned by other people. He is surrounded by a society that devalues him and people like him, and systematically worked to keep them ignorant and submissive. In this society, it is made clear that no slave is special, and everyone is replaceable. Rather than accept this, Douglass struggles to maintain what little autonomy he was allowed to have. Paul Mark is one of the few non street racers to admit how street racing is exciting, but is also quick to come back to reality to recognize the consequences of it. Yes street racing is fun, exciting, and an adrenaline rush, but it is not worth people dying over. The bottom line that Paul Mark explains in this article is that people are dying. This is not going to be tolerated and will have police on a heavy crack down against street racers. Some themes that are present within the movie include the dilemma of abortion, the destiny of oneself, and other minor themes. These others which are spoken of, are not necessarily main themes, but none the less remain pertinent and relevant to the way a movie goer views this film. A fully clothed woman does not develop the same conclusion that was first intended by Manet. In Classical art and in Renaissance art, nudity was relevant and useful to the expression of the idea that the creator was trying to convey. Time has not changed the relevance or usefulness of nude art. First, it must be stated that all nude art is not acceptable. Pornography and other forms should in no way be considered as meaningful art. There is a certain underlying intelligence that cannot be separated from nude art. Once this intelligence is removed, the nude art no longer holds any meaning or significance. As can be seen from the previous evidence and other examples not mentioned, there are certain patterns that art and artists have been following throughout the past years. One of the present examples of the pattern is Cider House Rules. During the movie, there are two minor scenes which present seemingly questionable material and which hold no meaning, but this is not the case. The first scene, that needs clarification, is the sex scene in the woods. This scene involved the two characters, Homer, played by Toby Macguire, and Candy, played by Charlize Theron. The second scene, that also needs some clarification, was when Candy was laying on the bed only covered by a sheer white sheet. Being sheer, the sheet allowed the viewer to see the complete naked figure of Candy. Some critics said that these scenes did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The definitions of nature include nature as an essential quality and characteristics of something, nature as an inherent force that directs the world, humans, or both, and nature as a material world, sometimes with people, sometimes without, however the definitions of nature are not limited to these three. By analyzing I wandered lonely as a cloud by William Wordsworth, all three definitions apply to the poem, implying that the poem is based upon nature. In Wordsworth s poem, nature is the main theme that defines the poem. William Wordsworth s poem, I wandered lonely as a cloud, is about how nature had a direct impact and connection with the speaker. As the speaker was wandering aimlessly as a cloud (1), the speaker encountered a field of daffodils adjacent to an beauteous lake, where everything seemed to be fluttering and dancing in the breeze. (6) The experience that the speaker undergoes displays what kind of perspective the speaker has. As the speaker describes the view using similes, continuous as the stars that shine , hyperbole, they [daffodils] stretched in never ending line (9), and by using vocabulary with positive connotations, such as glee , gay , bliss , the speaker gives the impression that his perspective towards nature is romantic. This book not only showed people what life was truly like in the eyes of a slave, but it became instrumental in propelling the abolitionist movement and helping it gain motion all across the country. Douglass was truly a revolutionary person because throughout the duration of slavery, African American people were not permitted to be educated. This was considered dangerous. It wasn t until Frederick Douglass was moved to Boston, where slaves were treated more like people instead of cattle, that he learned to read and write. When Frederick was 20 years old he escaped to Massachusetts and began to learn more about the abolitionist movement; this lead to him writing his first book. None of this would have been possible, however, without Douglass learning how to read and write. Education is a major key in lifting people of color out of oppression. The wife of Douglass s master began teaching him to read as he was just a boy at the time and he appealed to her humanity. When Hugh Auld, Douglass s master, found out about what his wife was doing he became livid and forbade her to teach him anymore. Auld said that if she taught him to read he would become ...unmanageable, and of no value to his master. And that it would make Douglass ...discontented and unhappy. According to Will Spink, most states are currently operating a state lottery despite its bleak history in the U.S. (Spink 1). Since 1983, North Carolina has introduced lottery bills in the legislature every year (NC Christian 15). North Carolina Governor, Mike Easley, favors a lottery for increasing revenues for education (Analysis 2). However lucrative state lotteries appear on the surface, they create even more moral and financial difficulties for citizens, and this should encourage states to look at other means of resources instead of legalized gambling. Other states have had the exact opposite to occur. In California, ninety percent of school superintendents believe it had an adverse effect on their getting other funds for their schools. In 1987, a study was conducted in Illinois that gave validity to what many lottery opponents claim happens in many cases: While the lottery money to education increases, the total education funding in the state budget increases at a lower rate than it has in previous years (Spink 3). Money magazine s study proved that states with lotteries designate a lower percentage of their total budget to education than do states without a lottery. However, proponents could point to the fact that lottery states on an average spend more on education per student, than non lottery states (NC Insider 2). Research has difficulty proving or disproving social consequences of lotteries. Evidence suggests it was the result of a large asteroid impact approximately 65.5 million years ago in Chicxulub, Mexico; hence why the crater it formed was named the Chicxulub crater. The crater was approximately 180 kilometres in diameter and was believed to have led to the extinction of the dinosaurs amongst many other life forms including marine plankton (calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifera) (Schulte et al., 2010). • 32. Groundwater Pumping In Florida Groundwater Pumping The state of Florida is very dependent on groundwater, primarily for public and agricultural supply. Indeed, the largest source of drinking water in Florida is groundwater from the state s massive aquifer system; approximately ninety percent of the state s drinking water is extracted from groundwater sources (Marella, 2004). According to Marella (2004), Between 1970 and 2000, total freshwater withdrawals increased for public supply by 176 percent and for agricultural self supplied by 87 percent (p. 1). As discussed previously, a growing population correlates with an increase in the demand for groundwater resources. Groundwater is currently being pumped out of Florida s aquifers faster than the state s abundant rainfall can refill them (Barnett, 2007, p.2). The excessive pumping of groundwater can create subsurface voids because of the lowering of the water table, which can lead to the development of sinkholes due to gravity and a loss of fluid pressure support (Tihansky, 1999, p. 132). However, with a recent discovery of a dinosaur found with a fossilized heart in the northern part of South Dakota in 1993, many paleontologists are starting to think that there were some dinosaurs that were warm blooded. Dinosaurs were first believed to be cold blooded because they were thought to be related closely to reptiles which are cold blooded creatures. Because warm blooded animals don t have to rely on their environment for body temperature, they are able to hunt at any time of the day or in any season, which is a great advantage over cold blooded animals. Therefore this type of intense activity needs a fast metabolism which is much too high for a cold blooded animal. Secondly, cold blooded animals have a hard time living in cold climates and dinosaur fossils have been found in the colder environments (Eschberger). However, scientists believe warm blooded animals would have suffered from the heat in warmer climates, where many fossils have been discovered. Beverly Eschberger discusses how dinosaurs must have been only warm blooded animals due to the factors of, bone structure, and histology, growth rates, predator to prey ratios, speed and agility, rate of evolution, similarities with birds, and insulation. She also explains the disadvantages of being a warm blooded animal: a much larger expenditure of energy to maintain elevated metabolism and a commensurate increase in food requirements (Eschberger). Just as the conclusion that dinosaurs were truly warm blooded becomes clearer, factors from the cold blooded side switch everything around. In my opinion, the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Raven is grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore is to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that he had deep feelings for. Then as he sits and the raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). But Aunt Nancy faces the same problem as N. when articulating her complaint. While asserting an alternate interpretation, she assumes a tone that claims hers as singularly true, which seems hypocritical. The driving age should not be raised it should stay at 16, teens that are sixteen years old should be able to start driving. The first time behind the wheel, with no parents, just you and the car. Of course, kids will have to be more careful, and more responsible while driving. The reasons why I say that the driving age shouldn t change is because kids in high school are in sports or in after school activities and parents may not be able to pick or drop them off, they can help their parents with errands, and lastly, kids are working at that age. Teens in high school are in sports or in after school activities. Having the kids to wait for the parents to come and pick them up to go drop them off may be a pain cause the kids will be late to practice. If students were unable to drive, then most of the after school activities would be unsuccessful. This student is talking about how being late to an activity or a sport will affect you from playing or even joining a club. The purpose of FIN 48 is to force public companies to analyze company s tax positions and evaluate the probability that their tax position will require them to be audited and if they are audited will their records be sufficient and accurate. If an organization finds that their tax position is likely to not be sustained a liability is created and the tax benefit of their position decreases. History: Line dancing originated before Christ and it originated from another kind of dance called Contra dancing which was done in the New England states in the early 1800s. The Contra was set up in such a way that there would be two lines facing each other one line would be men and the other line would be woman. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the strengths that I realized while dancing was that I have a good ear for hearing the beat of the music and find it easy to keep to the rhythm of the dance. I also found it easy to remember the steps and the order of the steps. I struggled with the technicalities of certain steps. In the beginning I also struggled with the enthusiasm that was needed in the dance due to a lack of confidence but this enthusiasm increased as my confidence with the dance increased. I enjoyed learning choreography and dancing in time to the music but I did not enjoy how some people were singled out and forced to dance in front of the entire class. Line dancing was very beneficial not only physically but it also teaches a lot of life lessons that cannot be learned anywhere else such as discipline and to respect and appreciate women. I would participate in further line dancing activities because it is a good opportunity to get to know new people and become involved in new thing and learn new skills. Line dancing can improve confidence and self esteem so I would therefore do it again if I was struggling with these things. I personally highly enjoyed going to the line dancing lessons as it was a way for me to escape from the busy life of a matric student. It gave me a chance to forget about all other work and subjects and allowed me to express myself in such a way that it relieved stress from my everyday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The tax will affect the demand for cigarettes. It has been shown through several empirical studies that imposition of taxes leads to a decrease in smoking. Those states that have imposed taxes have witnessed lower levels of smoking and those states that have not imposed steep taxes have witnessed lower levels of reduction in smoking. As smoking becomes more expensive, the number of cigarettes smoked falls. There is no direct effect on the supply, however, when the demand for cigarettes fall the supply will be reduced. Several factors of production that are employed in producing cigarettes will be unemployed. Employees will have to leave for other industries. Land and buildings that are involved in cigarette production and distribution will be reduced. For instance, the New York offices of Altria are being closed down and about 400 workers will be laid off. The increase in taxes will affect the equilibrium price and quantity. However, in reaction to the additional taxation and reduction in demand, cigarette companies will come up with some brands of cigarettes that cost less, the net effect on price will be that the final prices of the cigarettes will increase, but if low price introductions are taken into account the price increase will be lower than $1. According to Islam, God has given us the choice of right and wrong and if Muslims follow the path of the Qur an, then they shall receive salvation. Additionally, God is omniscient but man still needs punishment for any evil acts. The problem of evil arises when free moral beings choose to do evil acts. We, as free beings, tend to abuse our rights of freedom and cause harm to others and ourselves. For the evil acts committed by man, there are great consequences. Suffering, above all, will be faced by God in order to challenge man to move freely toward moral perfection. Nonetheless, Allah forgives all those who accept responsibility for their actions; man is once again relieved of impurities. God is all merciful.
