How Is John Winthrop Different From A Model Of Puristian...
In 1630, Puritan leader John Winthrop led the great migration to the New World. On board the ship
Arbella, John Winthrop delivered a sermon titled A Model of Christian Charity. His speech outlined
the objectives he hoped to achieve in the New World. His ideals slightly influenced the Puritans
judgments and philosophy however not as much as he had initially hoped for. It seems the judgments
of the Suffolk County Court were not influenced by the Arbella sermon. Similarly, it doesn t appear
that Winthrop s sermon influenced the testimony against Bridget Bishop either. However, the Suffolk
County Court cases do differ from the case against Bridget Bishop. The paradox between the two
illustrates both Puritan successes and failures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taken as a whole, Winthrop s message of love was his technique to unite his Puritan followers in the
New World.
The ideals of the Arbella sermon do not seem to influence the judgments of the Suffolk County Court
or the testimony against Bridget Bishop. Michael Johnson, author of Reading the American Past, notes
that, the court records of Suffolk County between 1671 and 1673...illustrate the New Englanders
deviated from the highest aspirations of the Puritan founders and that courts did what they could to
curb those deviations (52 53). The theme of love in Winthrop s sermon must have gone unaffected
judging by the type of cases in Suffolk County. For example, a wife was sentenced to be whipped ten
times or pay a twenty Shilling fine to the County for striking her husband. For being drunk and
abusing his wife, John Veering was punished by being whipped thirty times and humiliated by
standing in the open marketplace with a sign across his chest declaring his guilt. It is obvious that the
ideals of the Arbella sermon were not present in the case against Bridget Bishop. She was accused of
witchcraft and eight days after her trial she was the first accused witch to be hung in Salem. Once
again, love is not evident in either of the two works.
The cases that came before the Suffolk court differ in a variety of ways from the accusations made
against Bridget Bishop. The

Lincoln And Davis Leadership Essay
Comparing The Political Leadership Of Lincoln and Davis
It may seem self evident that Lincoln was the greater political leader; Lincoln led the winning side
while Davis was defeated. It has though, been thought that once the Northern advantages and Southern
disadvantages have been considered, that it is possible, that almost anyone could have led the North to
victory. If this is so, was it Davis s strong leadership, which ensured that the confederacy survived as
long as it did?
Davis s government has inevitably been blamed for the way it ran the war. Certainly it made mistakes.
But arguably it was no more mistake prone than Lincoln s government. Nor were the Southerners less
dedicated than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that the Union was able to produce both guns and butter helped Northern morale. Most
Northerners supported Lincoln and determined to see the war to a victorious conclusion.
With fewer people, far less in the way of industrial capacity, a less well developed railway system, and
with a Northern blockade disrupting trade with Europe, the odds were stacked highly against the
Confederacy from start. Moreover, while Lincoln took over a going concern in Washington, Jefferson
Davis s administration had to build the confederate government from scratch. To fight let alone to win
the war, Southerners would need to make a far greater sacrifice than the Northerners. Ultimately the
efforts of the Confederate government and the Southern people were in vain. The collapse of Northern
morale was the South s best hope of victory.
The North on the other hand, with its greater manpower and resources, was always favourite to win
the civil war. However, big battalions do sometimes lose wars. If Northern Morale had collapsed, as
American morale collapsed during the Vietnam War, the union could have been defeated. Resources
by themselves do not win wars: they need efficient leadership. Abraham Lincoln was the North s top
leader. He was fortunate in that he took over a going concern. But the extent of that concern should
not be exaggerated. Before 1861 Americans rarely saw

Utilitarianism Vs Environmental Ethics
An individual will be considered virtuous if he/she is able to make appropriate moral actions or carry
himself/herself in an ethical way that is in accordance to his/her personality (Mosser, 2013). These
decisions are solely based on serving others and therefore it is contrary to utilitarian perspective.
Possessing virtues is paramount in discussing issues surrounding environment, for instance, making
the environment the comfortable habit. Also, virtues will help an individual make moral decisions that
will aim at coming up with lasting solutions to environmental issues. There are two categories of
people: those who are conversant and appreciate their contribution to the better environment and those
holding contrary views on the betterment of the environment.
Aristotle highlighted virtues which are important to a person. These virtues are as follows:
temperance, proper judgment, and courage. For an individual to be virtuous he/she has to put into
practice these qualities in a balanced manner, and this person is referred as phronesis (Mosser, 2013).
When these values are applied in real life situation, it will be of great help to an individual especially
environmentalists who aim at making the environment a better place in which environment
constituents live. According to Hill, (2013), we as human are the ... Show more content on

Dietary Assessment Paper
There are several limitations to the dietary assessment, that could affect my diet quality both
positively and negatively:
1) According to my family s weekly grocery plan, the food consumption all 4 food categories is quite
approximate to the recommended amount by Canada s Food Guide (except grain products). The
sample size is too small for me to make a conclusion about my overall long term food habit.
2) Due to the flexibility of my schedule, the lunch and dinner times vary. This could probably worsen
my food habit due to possible binge eating (citation: international journal of eating disorder), and a
higher chance of choosing energy dense foods.
3) During school days, the food I consume will mainly be prepared by someone else, so it would

THE MUSICIANSHIP EXAMS An accomplishment I worked hard to achieve was my first
Musicianship Exam in fourth grade for piano. My piano teacher had decided that I was going to do the
Musicianship Exam instead of Junior Festival that year. Because I had moved at a quick and steady
pace, my piano teacher at that time, Lillian, let me skip to Level III on the Musicianship Exams list. I
was particularly excited about the Exams and nervous at the same time because I have never done
anything like this before and I wanted to win, to conquer it. Lillian started off by buying the Level III
Piano Repertoire books by Keith Snell. For the Exam, I needed to play one piece from each period of

Advantages Of Living In A Small Town
Living In A Small Town Has Unique Challenges
From an outsider s perspective, living in a small town such as Agassiz seems like a pleasant and
relaxing place to live; you get to know everyone, everything you need is within walking distance from
your house, and it s relatively safer than the city. However, as someone who has lived in the town of
Agassiz her whole life, I have learned from firsthand experiences that small towns aren t as peaceful
as they seem. For example, the town has become too close knit. This is due to the low population of
students within the schools, mixed with the fact that a majority families have been here for several
generations. As a result, cliques develop; causing drama and spreading gossip. Consequently, there
just isn t any privacy in Agassiz. Moreover, the few businesses that Agassiz has are basically all the
same; overpriced convenience stores that never have what you need, and an alarming number of pizza
places for such a restricted space. An easy solution for the issues that Agassiz suffers from is
something that is already being implemented; expand the population by adding more housing and
unique businesses.
There are three schools in Agassiz; two elementary schools and a high school. As someone who
attended these schools, I noticed quickly that if your parents weren t close to the other parents and the
principal, it was hard to make friends or have your opinions catered to. This was most prominent in
the high school, where great deals of the students families are close to the principal. As a result of this,
they are often given a special treatment, meaning they get away with being bullies. I experienced
several times where a group of these kids bullied people until they switched to another school, because
the principal refused to help them out in any way. More personally, the principal wouldn t let me
switch out of a class to another class that I needed to take to get into my preferred university program,
which has made the transition into university even more stressful. Additionally, the school has an
extremely low population only 300 kids the year that I graduated that you get to know everybody,
which isn t ideal; I often heard way too much about other people s personal

Branford. Rogers owns 35% of the national revenue in the telecommunication industry, proving that
their services are used nationwide as they have over 9.5 million subscribers (Rogers 2016). Another
one of Roger s strengths is diversification. They are Canada s largest wireless carrier, cable provider

The Supply And Demand Market Essay
The supply and demand market is a way for companies to control cost and work with their suppliers to
create a supply line that provides the materials for their products; to produce their products at a cost
that will allow them to price and sell it to consumers and make a profit. In the supply and demand
market Honda started out using the fixed factory model that has allowed Honda to go from importing
motorbikes to the United States to making automobiles in the United States as well as some of their
other products. Hondas supply line started in Japan and has expanded all over the world in almost
every country in the world by making the products they sell in their different factories. Honda motor
company operates 31 different facilities in the United States alone to manufacture their products using
domestic and globally sourced parts. (world.honda.com/news/2015) With Honda expanding their
supply chain in different countries they have been able to cut down on the importing and exporting of
their products made by the Honda Motor Company. With Honda being started in 1964 they have
transitioned from not only making motorbikes to making automobiles, all terrain vehicles, jets, lawn
equipment, motor sports, and power equipment and with the increase of products their supply chain
has changed. Honda started out in Japan with one factory making motorbikes then it progressed into a
company that made automobiles in the same factory in the supply and demand market Honda has gone

One of the great joys of being a parent is sharing in your children s achievements. Your excitement for
their successes and your disappointment for their failures are a normal and healthy part of parenting.
But sharing your children s sports participation doesn t mean living through them. Sharing their
experiences places the focus on them. The emphasis is on what the experience means to your children,
the emotions they are feeling, the lessons they learn, and the benefits they gain from their sport. When
your children perform well, you are thrilled for them. When they perform poorly, you feel their

I danced on the lawn and I dreamt of having a life like Chloe does, said dance mom Christi Lukasiak

such value on their daughters dancing is the need to swipe the spotlight and lie in their girls reflected
glory. They attempt to act as important coaches in matters they are clearly less knowledgeable about,
and constantly refer to their daughters achievements in ways that group themselves in. They argue
with Abby, the head dance teacher, over the right approach when they want more glory, but when they
think they might lose that particular argument, they ll bow their heads and wait for the lecture to end,
even if Abby insults their daughter. The girls, by far the most physically capable and impressive

Comparative Essay The way the human mind operates is a mystery to all. Through thinking that the
mind is something that can be comprehended humans have created the art of psychology and
psychiatry, where the inner machinations of one s mind are turned into nothing more than phrases and
terms. Between every person there lies a sense of morality, no matter who. The sense of morality is
not the same though, as children we learn to feel pain and suffering as others do, and to put the shoes
of others on. In the end, it seems, that almost all people brought up well as children, turn out to be the
people considered to have a strong sense of morality and can feel what pains some must endure.

Though the father is not as shocked as he would have liked to have been, the boy is absolutely

The Odyssey, The Ramayana Of Valmiki, And The Bhagavad Gita
War has been treated as an acceptable response to political or personal disagreements. The Bhagavad
Gita shows how a person can have a moral dilemma when faced with the prospect of fighting against
people who are familiar. This story explains how, if there are no other options available to solve a
dispute, then violent conflicts are acceptable responses. The use of armed conflict to resolve any
political or personal disputes has been a theme that is visible in famous warrior stories. The Odyssey,
The Ramayana of Valmiki, and The Bhagavad Gita all deal with conflicts of war and how it can affect
the lives of those involved. Violence as a solution to combat any disagreements or problems has been
viewed as noble and necessary in many stories. Armed conflict and violence has an effect on everyone
involved and the aftermath can be just as destructive as the initial fighting. The characters in these
stories are defined by their status as a warrior and hero. A man s ability to be successful in battle has
been praised in these stories. Odysseus and Rama are both viewed as strong heroes and they have been
praised for the violent actions taken in order to solve the situations in their lives. Arjuna was a warrior
who was expected to fight against loved ones because that was his job as a solider. The nature of war
in these ancient stories showed how accepted and valued violence conflicts were to a hero s status and
legend. The Bhagavad Gita handles the question of when

The Coach Of The Football Team
A thousand scenarios were uncontrollably running through my head as I thought about my brothers
going to battle without me. I couldn t understand why this happened to me, why I had to let them play
this game on their own. I ve competed with them since the fifth grade, and when they needed me the
most, all I could do is stand on the sidelines and cheer. I hated this feeling of helplessness, but at the
same time I knew there was little I could do.
It was Senior year, a year that is believed to be filled with excitement and simplicity. For many high
school students, Senior year is the last Hoorah and last opportunity to make memories with fellow
classmates. For me, Senior year was hell. Coming from a small school that heavily relied on its
Basketball program to give them a good name, attempting to be a part of other teams/programs led to
extreme criticism. So being captain of the Football team didn t provide any perks.
Being on the Football team predestined you as a thug , or even as a kid who frequently misbehaved
and displayed no enthusiasm to work. That s how the entire school perceived us, faculty and all. Being

Hypothesis: If the body moves back to normal position from squatting position while the time limit

Themes In Letter From Birmingham Jail
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail was a powerful and eloquent letter that
effectively argued the point that segregation is fundamentally unjust and should be fought with
nonviolent protest. This letter, through describing the injustice taking place during the civil rights
movement also provided some insight about Dr. King s view of the government in the 1960s. Three
mains themes present in Dr. King s letter were religion, injustice, and racism. Dr. King repeatedly used
the first theme, religion, to support his arguments throughout the letter. For instance, he used a
religious comparison to explain his presence in Birmingham, saying just as the Apostle Paul left his
little village of Tarsus and carried the gospel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, the idea of justice was key in Dr. King s letter, as he explained that his actions were
essentially driven by his desire for justice, in this case in the form of racial equality and desegregation.
Finally, racism was a major theme, and it was even the cause of the letter s writing. For example, Dr.
King said that though it is unfortunate that so called demonstrations are taking place in Birmingham at
this time, but . . . it is even more unfortunate that the white power structure of this city left the Negro
community with no other alternative (78), describing how it was racism that forced his actions which
led him to be jailed. Dr. King further described the immense racism present at the time by noting that
There have been more unsolved bombings of Negro homes and churches in Birmingham than in any
other city in this nation (78). In his, letter, Dr. King seemed rather dissatisfied with the local
government, particularly the one of Birmingham, Alabama. He openly expressed his desire to see Mr.
Conner [a local official] defeated [in an election] (79), and even though after the election, Connor was
replaced by a man named Boutwell, Dr. King said While Mr. Boutwell is much more articulate and
gentle than Mr. Connor, they are both segregationists, dedicated to the task of maintaining the status
quo (79), describing his continued dissatisfaction with the local government. Though Dr. King

The Pros And Cons Of Transplants
They bring the donor to an operation room and they carefully make incisions as they would if the

transplants, such bone, cornea, and skin. ( US Department of Health and Human Resources ) When a
transplant is successful in surgery, things aren t perfect yet. Sometimes the body detects that a thing
isn t right and can attack the new organ. Dr. Carrel and other scientists reasoned that the animals were
dying after surgery because their bodies rejected any transplanted organ as foreign tissue. Their
reasoning was based on past research. Doctors had already successfully grafted skin from one part of a

Only one life can be saved with the second organ. Whether it s the same person who has already had a
previous graft or is a new candidate make no direct difference to someone who is not concerned about
the distribution of a good, but only the aggregate total. A life is a life. Because utilitarians are not
concerned about the distribution of the goods but the aggregate amount of goods. especially if we
exclude considerations of social worth, it should make no difference to the utilitarian which lives are
saved. (Veatch, Robert M. Transplantation Ethics. Washington DC: Georgetown UP, 2000. Print.).
There has been studies and tests that have concluded doctors can perform their duties using a new
technique. 3D printings of organs can be made and used as organs. This process can take a long time
to do because some of the human organs are so complex that the printer would take time to get every
detail right. But in some ways this process is faster than waiting for a perfect match to arrive and to
make sure they are an organ donor. Finding new ways to make organ transplants better, faster and
more effective is crucial. Their findings can help save more people and maybe in a faster time period
as well.
Brain death is a rare way for someone to come by, but it does happen. And may people have a hard

The Normans had a big impact on the English language. The nobility and Kings changed the
vocabulary in government, law, army, religion, fashion and cuisine. Also they started using more
written texts, as a result many changes happened in spelling, pronunciation and grammar rules. It is
said that the Normans added 10000 words to the english language of which 75% is used today,.
One of methods that very interesting is that words just transformed their meanings completely for no
reason. He gives an example whereby the meaning for the word had entirely changed in their
meaning: counterfeit and brave. Counterfeit now means a fake copy of a genuine good, such as fake

How Different Temperatures Effect The Cell Membrane Of A...
How different temperatures effect the cell membrane of a beetroot
Hypothesis: The more betalain is leaked when the membrane is in higher temperatures
Abstract:
The experiment which was conducted was to identify the effects of temperature of the beetroot discs.
Majority of the pigment from the beetroot is found within the vacuole which is called anthocyanin and
each of the vacuole is surrounded by a tonoplast membrane. Externally the cytoplasm is surrounded
by the plasma membrane hence the foundation of the experiment depends on the temperature which
will rapture the membrane and lead to a leakage of the pigment. The experiment consists of several
different temperatures and same sized beetroot discs, the beetroot discs will be placed in 3 sets of discs
in a tube test tube which will be placed in the distilled water in same test tube. Using a colorimeter
once the beetroot have been exposed to the temperatures the colour of the distilled water will change
therefore leaving a coloured water to be measured by a colorimeter, this is because the colorimeter
measures the light being passed through the solution.
Introduction:
The experiment is conducted to find out how the membrane is affected by different temperatures.
Betalain pigment increases with high temperatures because most mammalian proteins denature and
tertiary structure unravels because the strong covalent bonds between the R groups of amino acids in
the polypeptide chains are destroyed at temperatures over 45°C.

The Effects Of Media On The Media Influences Viewers
Racial Bias in the Media Influences Viewers
Television reaches more consumers for more time than any other source of media. Its use for
entertainment or news is overly influential, persuasive, and authoritative. Through these
characteristics, any type of information or message influences its massive audience. Because of this,
what Americans see or fail to see has a powerful impact on how they view other races. Young children
are especially vulnerable to the information they are exposed to. TV is a vehicle to provide
experiences and information not otherwise available to them. Older audiences, however, are also
vulnerable to the information. Consistent messages about traits and stereotypes of other races
reinforce specific ideas to the adult viewer. Viewers aren t limited to racial bias when other races are
on the screen, but are also susceptible when races aren t included. As a strong and influential tool,
television uses both obvious and subtle racial bias to influence its viewers.
Television is a strong and influential tool. To first understand why television has a strong influence on
its viewer s, it is important to know some basic facts. According to Nielsen s National Television
Household Universe Estimates, there are 116.4 million TV homes in the U.S. prior to the start of the
2014 15 TV season. The number of persons age 2 and older in U.S. TV Households is estimated to be
296 million (Nielsen, 2014). This stat shows the enormous audience that TV and its messages

Analysis Of The Book Gladwell
Maddy Rigby
Smith
AP English III
30 November 2014
In his previous book, Malcolm Gladwell coined the phrase tipping point , meaning the moment when
an idea or concept suddenly becomes popular within the general populace, and in his following book,
he gives us the term Outliers which means something that lies outside of the normal or the expected.
In his book Blink, Gladwell provides us with two more phrases; thin slicing and blink. To blink is to
act without thinking, working on split second decisions to make choices. Thin slicing is using the
small amount of information that is known to come to a conclusion without further searching for more
information. According to Gladwell, snap judgements often provide better decisions than well
informed, over analysed ones, which is ironic in our generation of information overload. The book, in
the way that Gladwell s books tend to do, opens with an anecdote, this one opening much like a
detective novel, talking extensively about the discovery of a statue and about the group of analysers
that were initially fooled by it, coming to believe that it had shown to be genuine after much study.
After their extensive studying, they were sure in their deduction, but another group came into the
picture soon after and looked at it or blinked and declared it a fake and a forgery and ended up being
right. Gladwell provides a series of questions following his anecdote is overanalyzing incorrect? Does
blinking always provide the correct

Intelligence Is The Most Intelligent Of The Primates
Homo sapiens have always been seen as the most intelligent species, but what makes them so
intelligent? Some believe that intelligence is the ability to communicate through a language. However,
it is much more complex. Intelligence is more so the ability to learn, reason and understand, as well as
understanding truths, relationships, facts, and meanings. Through much research, scientists have
discovered that there are other species with great knowledge. Species such as dolphins, primates,
elephants, pigs, and birds have had their brilliance put to the test, supporting the idea that intelligence
is more than having a language. Primates, our closest living relatives, are among the smartest of the
animal kingdom. Two in particular, Orangutans and Chimpanzees, are considered the most intelligent
of the primates. Both species have been taught to use and have been observed using tools necessary
for their survival. What makes this action qualify as intelligence, is that they understand why they are
performing those actions and how to go about doing them. A captive orangutan was once taught how
to build a protective structure using tools in the wild. When the orangutan was released, it was seen
building the same protective structure to provide shelter from the rain. Chimpanzees, however, have
been found to learn, have family bonds, adopt orphans, perform cognitive and creative tasks, and have
a better memory than any other animal. They have learned how to use sign language to

Treatment For The Time Being, There Is No Cure For Ad Essay
For the time being, there is no cure for AD. Current management involves treatment for cognitive, non
cognitive and behavioural symptoms only. The aims of the treatment are to promote independence and
alleviating behavioural, cognitive, non cognitive and psychological symptoms. Those aims are made
to improve AD patient s quality of life and well being, which in return can increase well being of
caregiver too. High cost spend because of CB will be reduce, rate of hospitalisation will be lessen and
admission to NHP will be delayed.
Pharmacological interventions of treating AD are by using anti dementia drugs. Anti dementia drugs
are acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEIs) and memantine. AChEIs which are donepezil,
galantamine and rivastigmine have marketing authorisation in UK for treatment of mild to moderate
AD. AChEIs work by preventing acetylcholinesterase enzyme from breaking down acetylcholine so
that the concentration and duration of acetylcholine at neurotransmission sites increase [1]. Donepazil
is a reversible, specific AChEI. Galantamine is a reversible inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase and it can
modulate activity at nicotinic receptor. Rivastigmine is a reversible non competitive inhibitor of
acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. AChEI can cause unwanted side effects such as
nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and dizziness. Treatment should be started at low dose and the dose can

administration. Frank however had first removed the utmost incriminating passages of the
concentration camp system from his diary before handing it over and had burnt official documentation

experience, which made him to repent his Nazi past. Frank was not charged with crimes against peace,
due to the fact he had not been part of the military circle that had planned the war. Nonetheless, he
was charged with count one, the crime of conspiracy, the American Prosecution debated that he had
actively promoted the coming to power of the Nazi leadership through his legal activities. More
significantly Frank was charged with war crimes and crimes against Humanity. Robert Jackson on

Facebook s Influence On Social Networking
An obvious slogan on the homepage to the popular social networking website Facebook is the phrase
Connect with friends and the world you on Facebook (Facebook n.p). The idea of needing social
networking sites to connect with everyone else one knows or may meet has become embedded in
American culture throughout recent years, especially among the teenage population. Facebook is
easily the most popular sites, to the point where it would be considered unusual for someone attending
high school to not have a profile on the site. However, does the Facebook actually create a stronger
connection between people, or does it simply create the illusion of a healthy social life, while really
creating distance a distance between them? According to the Will Reader, a researcher who works at
Sheffield Hallam University in the UK, people generally have five people they would consider their
close friend, in striking contrast to the vast amounts they may have on Facebook (Szumski Karson
26). This finding seems to suggest that one s amount of Facebook reflects how popular one wishes to
appear online more than how healthy one s friendship truly are. Bill Keller, an executive for the
magazine The New York Times, asserts that constant usage of Facebook allows user to potentially feel
like [they] have a meaningful social life, when in reality, [they are missing] something (26). Indeed,
Facebook can function as a placebo for some users in the place of genuine, healthy social life. Users

The House
During the two years I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia, I passed by Monticello everyday on my way
from home to school; I finally went up there to visit right before I left the town. Weaving through the
giant plantation around it, the shuttle took us from the foot of the mountain to the hilltop, where the
house rested. The house was relatively small compared to the size of the field surrounding it. Through
several preservation and minor renovation, the floor we stepped on was still the original. I
remembered walking under the house and circling back through all the servants facilities. All the
dependencies were built into the side of the mountain in a U shape. (Figure 6 7) As for the main house
for Jefferson and his family, the plan of the house showed that several rooms, especially the parlor,
were hexagons, for maximizing daylight in the house, which followed the rounded world concept in
the Pantheon. Also related to this sense, the front of the house were never defined. As in Jefferson s
day, visitors today enter through the columned portico of the East Front into the Entrance Hall. West
entrance is more private use for family and guests. But despite the function of the two entrance, there
was no clear frontality or a single façade that dominated the house. Rounded world represented
Jefferson s vision of the world. Tracing back to his early life, he was well known as the third president
of America. Yet in his legendary life, he only put Author of the

I am faced with stringent time constraints and therefore I cannot risk any possible supply disruptions.
As for Wah Shing they have developed good supplier relationships with electrical component
suppliers. This is crucial as the components used in E Chargers are not always readily available. Wah
Shing has minimal financial risk, competitive pricing and more knowledge of the componentry that E
Chargers entail. Wah Shing has produced other complex electronic toys and therefore would have the
processes and technological capabilities to produce an E Charger within the stringent tolerances. It
would be hard for me to change Wai Lung s core competencies of die casting and plastic toys. I do not
think with the time I m allotted I would be able to overcome the knowledge gap they have for
electronic toys. Wah Shing s engineers have the ability to closely monitor the production of E
Chargers and correct any problems that may arise in the manufacturing process. It is imperative to
have engineers readily available who can help prevent any potential work stoppages as Spin Masters
does not have a lot of time to get E Charges to market. Lastly, after careful consideration I noticed
Hasbro does have relationships with both Wai Lung and Wah Shing. Hasbro has contracted less
complex toys to Wai Lung as that s their core business and more complex electronic toys to Wah
Shing. This has

Renaissance Love in Tristan and Iseult Essay
Renaissance Love in Tristan and Iseult
The modern concept of love owes a great deal to the Humanist tradition of the Renaissance. The
humanists focused on perfection and exaltation of this life as opposed to the afterlife. In Tristan and
Iseult the seeds of Renaissance love are present in the Middle Ages. To the modern eye, it is a mystery
how the period of the Middle Ages produced the seeds of the diametrically opposite Renaissance. Yet
it is necessary to understand this transformation if one is to fully comprehend the forces that helped
produce the modern consciousness. Courtly Love is a transitional concept that emerged in the Middle
Ages. It is transitional because it emerged early and acknowledges God as the creator of love, ... Show

The individual is nothing compared to the needs of the community. Tristan is even willing to give
Iseult the Fair to King Mark: for the life of King Mark, did Tristan by guile and by force conquer the
Queen of the hair of gold (37). Tristan is everything a lord could want in a vassal. Yet it is not Tristan s
love for King Mark that is what he is remembered for, but his love for Iseult, which is portrayed as
higher than the feudal system. The love between Tristan and Iseult clearly violates the social
conventions of the Middle Ages. When he falls in love with Iseult, Tristan s initial reaction concerns
his duty to King Mark, Iseult is yours and I am but your vassal; Iseult is yours and I am your son;
Iseult is yours and may not love me (43). Thankfully, the Love potion that Tristan drinks excuses him
from his duty to the king. It is necessary in the Middle Ages to assure that Tristan is not being disloyal.
The purity of the love is strengthened by the fact that God sanctifies it, love dropped upon them from
high heaven (57). This Love is God given and therefore excused from the restrictions of feudal
society. This mirrors the Humanist belief that man was created in God s image, thus it is a form of
worship to revere man. After Tristan and Iseult have fallen in love, they exhibit all of the virtues that
the Humanists of the Renaissance admired. They focus on the joys of this life instead of focusing on
death and the afterlife. When

  • 3. How Is John Winthrop Different From A Model Of Puristian... In 1630, Puritan leader John Winthrop led the great migration to the New World. On board the ship Arbella, John Winthrop delivered a sermon titled A Model of Christian Charity. His speech outlined the objectives he hoped to achieve in the New World. His ideals slightly influenced the Puritans judgments and philosophy however not as much as he had initially hoped for. It seems the judgments of the Suffolk County Court were not influenced by the Arbella sermon. Similarly, it doesn t appear that Winthrop s sermon influenced the testimony against Bridget Bishop either. However, the Suffolk County Court cases do differ from the case against Bridget Bishop. The paradox between the two illustrates both Puritan successes and failures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taken as a whole, Winthrop s message of love was his technique to unite his Puritan followers in the New World. The ideals of the Arbella sermon do not seem to influence the judgments of the Suffolk County Court or the testimony against Bridget Bishop. Michael Johnson, author of Reading the American Past, notes that, the court records of Suffolk County between 1671 and 1673...illustrate the New Englanders deviated from the highest aspirations of the Puritan founders and that courts did what they could to curb those deviations (52 53). The theme of love in Winthrop s sermon must have gone unaffected judging by the type of cases in Suffolk County. For example, a wife was sentenced to be whipped ten times or pay a twenty Shilling fine to the County for striking her husband. For being drunk and abusing his wife, John Veering was punished by being whipped thirty times and humiliated by standing in the open marketplace with a sign across his chest declaring his guilt. It is obvious that the ideals of the Arbella sermon were not present in the case against Bridget Bishop. She was accused of witchcraft and eight days after her trial she was the first accused witch to be hung in Salem. Once again, love is not evident in either of the two works. The cases that came before the Suffolk court differ in a variety of ways from the accusations made against Bridget Bishop. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Lincoln And Davis Leadership Essay Comparing The Political Leadership Of Lincoln and Davis It may seem self evident that Lincoln was the greater political leader; Lincoln led the winning side while Davis was defeated. It has though, been thought that once the Northern advantages and Southern disadvantages have been considered, that it is possible, that almost anyone could have led the North to victory. If this is so, was it Davis s strong leadership, which ensured that the confederacy survived as long as it did? Davis s government has inevitably been blamed for the way it ran the war. Certainly it made mistakes. But arguably it was no more mistake prone than Lincoln s government. Nor were the Southerners less dedicated than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that the Union was able to produce both guns and butter helped Northern morale. Most Northerners supported Lincoln and determined to see the war to a victorious conclusion. With fewer people, far less in the way of industrial capacity, a less well developed railway system, and with a Northern blockade disrupting trade with Europe, the odds were stacked highly against the Confederacy from start. Moreover, while Lincoln took over a going concern in Washington, Jefferson Davis s administration had to build the confederate government from scratch. To fight let alone to win the war, Southerners would need to make a far greater sacrifice than the Northerners. Ultimately the efforts of the Confederate government and the Southern people were in vain. The collapse of Northern morale was the South s best hope of victory. The North on the other hand, with its greater manpower and resources, was always favourite to win the civil war. However, big battalions do sometimes lose wars. If Northern Morale had collapsed, as American morale collapsed during the Vietnam War, the union could have been defeated. Resources by themselves do not win wars: they need efficient leadership. Abraham Lincoln was the North s top leader. He was fortunate in that he took over a going concern. But the extent of that concern should not be exaggerated. Before 1861 Americans rarely saw ... • 5. Utilitarianism Vs Environmental Ethics An individual will be considered virtuous if he/she is able to make appropriate moral actions or carry himself/herself in an ethical way that is in accordance to his/her personality (Mosser, 2013). These decisions are solely based on serving others and therefore it is contrary to utilitarian perspective. Possessing virtues is paramount in discussing issues surrounding environment, for instance, making the environment the comfortable habit. Also, virtues will help an individual make moral decisions that will aim at coming up with lasting solutions to environmental issues. There are two categories of people: those who are conversant and appreciate their contribution to the better environment and those holding contrary views on the betterment of the environment. Aristotle highlighted virtues which are important to a person. These virtues are as follows: temperance, proper judgment, and courage. For an individual to be virtuous he/she has to put into practice these qualities in a balanced manner, and this person is referred as phronesis (Mosser, 2013). When these values are applied in real life situation, it will be of great help to an individual especially environmentalists who aim at making the environment a better place in which environment constituents live. • 6. Dietary Assessment Paper There are several limitations to the dietary assessment, that could affect my diet quality both positively and negatively: 1) According to my family s weekly grocery plan, the food consumption all 4 food categories is quite approximate to the recommended amount by Canada s Food Guide (except grain products). The sample size is too small for me to make a conclusion about my overall long term food habit. 2) Due to the flexibility of my schedule, the lunch and dinner times vary. This could probably worsen my food habit due to possible binge eating (citation: international journal of eating disorder), and a higher chance of choosing energy dense foods. 3) During school days, the food I consume will mainly be prepared by someone else, so it would ... My piano teacher had decided that I was going to do the Musicianship Exam instead of Junior Festival that year. Because I had moved at a quick and steady pace, my piano teacher at that time, Lillian, let me skip to Level III on the Musicianship Exams list. I was particularly excited about the Exams and nervous at the same time because I have never done anything like this before and I wanted to win, to conquer it. • 8. Advantages Of Living In A Small Town Living In A Small Town Has Unique Challenges From an outsider s perspective, living in a small town such as Agassiz seems like a pleasant and relaxing place to live; you get to know everyone, everything you need is within walking distance from your house, and it s relatively safer than the city. However, as someone who has lived in the town of Agassiz her whole life, I have learned from firsthand experiences that small towns aren t as peaceful as they seem. For example, the town has become too close knit. This is due to the low population of students within the schools, mixed with the fact that a majority families have been here for several generations. As a result, cliques develop; causing drama and spreading gossip. Consequently, there just isn t any privacy in Agassiz. Moreover, the few businesses that Agassiz has are basically all the same; overpriced convenience stores that never have what you need, and an alarming number of pizza places for such a restricted space. An easy solution for the issues that Agassiz suffers from is something that is already being implemented; expand the population by adding more housing and unique businesses. There are three schools in Agassiz; two elementary schools and a high school. As someone who attended these schools, I noticed quickly that if your parents weren t close to the other parents and the principal, it was hard to make friends or have your opinions catered to. This was most prominent in the high school, where great deals of the students families are close to the principal. As a result of this, they are often given a special treatment, meaning they get away with being bullies. I experienced several times where a group of these kids bullied people until they switched to another school, because the principal refused to help them out in any way. More personally, the principal wouldn t let me switch out of a class to another class that I needed to take to get into my preferred university program, which has made the transition into university even more stressful. Additionally, the school has an extremely low population only 300 kids the year that I graduated that you get to know everybody, which isn t ideal; I often heard way too much about other people s personal ... One of their major strengths is the quality of their service. Rogers spent millions to create a company that would be able to provide millions of people with high speed internet wherever they go in Canada. Rogers has helped individuals to stay in touch with their peers, family members and more. They have also destroyed many communication barriers with small and big businesses by providing them with the best and fastest service possible. Rogers has the most telecommunication towers in all of Canada ranging from major cities like Toronto to smaller cities like Branford. Rogers owns 35% of the national revenue in the telecommunication industry, proving that their services are used nationwide as they have over 9.5 million subscribers (Rogers 2016). Another one of Roger s strengths is diversification. They are Canada s largest wireless carrier, cable provider and provide their customers with many other services as well. They are the only communications company with national carrier on GSM, HSPA+ and LTE platforms (Cellmapper 2016). They have over 9.5 million subscribers for their wireless carrier and 83% smartphone penetration in the market and own over 50% of the network revenues (Cellmapper 2016). The Supply And Demand Market Essay The supply and demand market is a way for companies to control cost and work with their suppliers to create a supply line that provides the materials for their products; to produce their products at a cost that will allow them to price and sell it to consumers and make a profit. In the supply and demand market Honda started out using the fixed factory model that has allowed Honda to go from importing motorbikes to the United States to making automobiles in the United States as well as some of their other products. Hondas supply line started in Japan and has expanded all over the world in almost every country in the world by making the products they sell in their different factories. Honda motor company operates 31 different facilities in the United States alone to manufacture their products using domestic and globally sourced parts. (world.honda.com/news/2015) With Honda expanding their supply chain in different countries they have been able to cut down on the importing and exporting of their products made by the Honda Motor Company. With Honda being started in 1964 they have transitioned from not only making motorbikes to making automobiles, all terrain vehicles, jets, lawn equipment, motor sports, and power equipment and with the increase of products their supply chain has changed. Your excitement for their successes and your disappointment for their failures are a normal and healthy part of parenting. But sharing your children s sports participation doesn t mean living through them. Sharing their experiences places the focus on them. The emphasis is on what the experience means to your children, the emotions they are feeling, the lessons they learn, and the benefits they gain from their sport. When your children perform well, you are thrilled for them. When they perform poorly, you feel their sadness. With sharing, it is all about your children. I danced on the lawn and I dreamt of having a life like Chloe does, said dance mom Christi Lukasiak of her daughter in the first season of Dance Moms. Often it seems the reason these petty mothers place such value on their daughters dancing is the need to swipe the spotlight and lie in their girls reflected glory. They attempt to act as important coaches in matters they are clearly less knowledgeable about, and constantly refer to their daughters achievements in ways that group themselves in. They argue with Abby, the head dance teacher, over the right approach when they want more glory, but when they think they might lose that particular argument, they ll bow their heads and wait for the lecture to end, even if Abby insults their daughter. The girls, by far the most physically capable and impressive people on the show, are given the most discouraging treatment. I think these mothers are so intense because they failed at what they did. • 12. Cardiothoracic Surgeons It all begins with the blinding light that flashes before everyone s eyes, eliminating the lingering drabness. • 13. The Road, By Cormac Mccarthy, And On The Beach Comparative Essay The way the human mind operates is a mystery to all. Through thinking that the mind is something that can be comprehended humans have created the art of psychology and psychiatry, where the inner machinations of one s mind are turned into nothing more than phrases and terms. Between every person there lies a sense of morality, no matter who. The sense of morality is not the same though, as children we learn to feel pain and suffering as others do, and to put the shoes of others on. In the end, it seems, that almost all people brought up well as children, turn out to be the people considered to have a strong sense of morality and can feel what pains some must endure. In this short time a group of cannibals arrive to the house they are in, and it is revealed that they are keeping a hoard of humans locked up in a cellar to feast on. Though the father is not as shocked as he would have liked to have been, the boy is absolutely horrified and is the key moment where the boy realizes that the world truly is dead. Both the father and son are able to sneak out of the house undetected, and are forced to wait in a bush near the house to keep from alerting anyone inside of their presence. Once they get back on the road, they stumble upon a patch of land full of apples, and a barn, which has fresh water stored underneath it. The spoils of their journey does the job in refreshing both the father and son, and gets them to their next destination. Arriving at a house that the father has decided they will camp at, he goes to do some exploring. In the exploring he manages to find a bomb shelter, never before plundered for its goods. The Bhagavad Gita shows how a person can have a moral dilemma when faced with the prospect of fighting against people who are familiar. Three mains themes present in Dr. King s letter were religion, injustice, and racism. Dr. King repeatedly used the first theme, religion, to support his arguments throughout the letter. How different temperatures effect the cell membrane of a beetroot Hypothesis: The more betalain is leaked when the membrane is in higher temperatures Abstract: The experiment which was conducted was to identify the effects of temperature of the beetroot discs. Majority of the pigment from the beetroot is found within the vacuole which is called anthocyanin and each of the vacuole is surrounded by a tonoplast membrane. Externally the cytoplasm is surrounded by the plasma membrane hence the foundation of the experiment depends on the temperature which will rapture the membrane and lead to a leakage of the pigment. The experiment consists of several different temperatures and same sized beetroot discs, the beetroot discs will be placed in 3 sets of discs in a tube test tube which will be placed in the distilled water in same test tube. Using a colorimeter once the beetroot have been exposed to the temperatures the colour of the distilled water will change therefore leaving a coloured water to be measured by a colorimeter, this is because the colorimeter measures the light being passed through the solution. Introduction: The experiment is conducted to find out how the membrane is affected by different temperatures. Betalain pigment increases with high temperatures because most mammalian proteins denature and tertiary structure unravels because the strong covalent bonds between the R groups of amino acids in the polypeptide chains are destroyed at temperatures over 45°C. ... Analysis Of The Book Gladwell Maddy Rigby Smith AP English III 30 November 2014 In his previous book, Malcolm Gladwell coined the phrase tipping point , meaning the moment when an idea or concept suddenly becomes popular within the general populace, and in his following book, he gives us the term Outliers which means something that lies outside of the normal or the expected. In his book Blink, Gladwell provides us with two more phrases; thin slicing and blink. To blink is to act without thinking, working on split second decisions to make choices. Thin slicing is using the small amount of information that is known to come to a conclusion without further searching for more information. According to Gladwell, snap judgements often provide better decisions than well informed, over analysed ones, which is ironic in our generation of information overload. Some believe that intelligence is the ability to communicate through a language. However, it is much more complex. Intelligence is more so the ability to learn, reason and understand, as well as understanding truths, relationships, facts, and meanings. Through much research, scientists have discovered that there are other species with great knowledge. Species such as dolphins, primates, elephants, pigs, and birds have had their brilliance put to the test, supporting the idea that intelligence is more than having a language. Primates, our closest living relatives, are among the smartest of the animal kingdom. Two in particular, Orangutans and Chimpanzees, are considered the most intelligent of the primates. Both species have been taught to use and have been observed using tools necessary for their survival. What makes this action qualify as intelligence, is that they understand why they are performing those actions and how to go about doing them. A captive orangutan was once taught how to build a protective structure using tools in the wild. When the orangutan was released, it was seen building the same protective structure to provide shelter from the rain. • 32. Facebook s Influence On Social Networking An obvious slogan on the homepage to the popular social networking website Facebook is the phrase Connect with friends and the world you on Facebook (Facebook n.p). The idea of needing social networking sites to connect with everyone else one knows or may meet has become embedded in American culture throughout recent years, especially among the teenage population. Facebook is easily the most popular sites, to the point where it would be considered unusual for someone attending high school to not have a profile on the site. However, does the Facebook actually create a stronger connection between people, or does it simply create the illusion of a healthy social life, while really creating distance a distance between them? According to the Will Reader, a researcher who works at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK, people generally have five people they would consider their close friend, in striking contrast to the vast amounts they may have on Facebook (Szumski Karson 26). This finding seems to suggest that one s amount of Facebook reflects how popular one wishes to appear online more than how healthy one s friendship truly are. Bill Keller, an executive for the magazine The New York Times, asserts that constant usage of Facebook allows user to potentially feel like [they] have a meaningful social life, when in reality, [they are missing] something (26). Indeed, Facebook can function as a placebo for some users in the place of genuine, healthy social life. Users with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The House During the two years I lived in Charlottesville, Virginia, I passed by Monticello everyday on my way from home to school; I finally went up there to visit right before I left the town. Weaving through the giant plantation around it, the shuttle took us from the foot of the mountain to the hilltop, where the house rested. The house was relatively small compared to the size of the field surrounding it. Through several preservation and minor renovation, the floor we stepped on was still the original. I remembered walking under the house and circling back through all the servants facilities. All the dependencies were built into the side of the mountain in a U shape. (Figure 6 7) As for the main house for Jefferson and his family, the plan of the house showed that several rooms, especially the parlor, were hexagons, for maximizing daylight in the house, which followed the rounded world concept in the Pantheon. Also related to this sense, the front of the house were never defined. As in Jefferson s day, visitors today enter through the columned portico of the East Front into the Entrance Hall. West entrance is more private use for family and guests. But despite the function of the two entrance, there was no clear frontality or a single façade that dominated the house. Rounded world represented Jefferson s vision of the world. Tracing back to his early life, he was well known as the third president of America. Yet in his legendary life, he only put Author of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am faced with stringent time constraints and therefore I cannot risk any possible supply disruptions. As for Wah Shing they have developed good supplier relationships with electrical component suppliers. This is crucial as the components used in E Chargers are not always readily available. Wah Shing has minimal financial risk, competitive pricing and more knowledge of the componentry that E Chargers entail. Wah Shing has produced other complex electronic toys and therefore would have the processes and technological capabilities to produce an E Charger within the stringent tolerances. It would be hard for me to change Wai Lung s core competencies of die casting and plastic toys. I do not think with the time I m allotted I would be able to overcome the knowledge gap they have for electronic toys. Wah Shing s engineers have the ability to closely monitor the production of E Chargers and correct any problems that may arise in the manufacturing process. It is imperative to have engineers readily available who can help prevent any potential work stoppages as Spin Masters does not have a lot of time to get E Charges to market. Lastly, after careful consideration I noticed Hasbro does have relationships with both Wai Lung and Wah Shing. Hasbro has contracted less complex toys to Wai Lung as that s their core business and more complex electronic toys to Wah Shing. This has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Renaissance Love in Tristan and Iseult Essay Renaissance Love in Tristan and Iseult The modern concept of love owes a great deal to the Humanist tradition of the Renaissance. The humanists focused on perfection and exaltation of this life as opposed to the afterlife. In Tristan and Iseult the seeds of Renaissance love are present in the Middle Ages. To the modern eye, it is a mystery how the period of the Middle Ages produced the seeds of the diametrically opposite Renaissance. Yet it is necessary to understand this transformation if one is to fully comprehend the forces that helped produce the modern consciousness. Courtly Love is a transitional concept that emerged in the Middle Ages. It is transitional because it emerged early and acknowledges God as the creator of love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The individual is nothing compared to the needs of the community. Tristan is even willing to give Iseult the Fair to King Mark: for the life of King Mark, did Tristan by guile and by force conquer the Queen of the hair of gold (37). Tristan is everything a lord could want in a vassal. Yet it is not Tristan s love for King Mark that is what he is remembered for, but his love for Iseult, which is portrayed as higher than the feudal system. The love between Tristan and Iseult clearly violates the social conventions of the Middle Ages. When he falls in love with Iseult, Tristan s initial reaction concerns his duty to King Mark, Iseult is yours and I am but your vassal; Iseult is yours and I am your son; Iseult is yours and may not love me (43). Thankfully, the Love potion that Tristan drinks excuses him from his duty to the king. It is necessary in the Middle Ages to assure that Tristan is not being disloyal. The purity of the love is strengthened by the fact that God sanctifies it, love dropped upon them from high heaven (57). This Love is God given and therefore excused from the restrictions of feudal society. This mirrors the Humanist belief that man was created in God s image, thus it is a form of worship to revere man. After Tristan and Iseult have fallen in love, they exhibit all of the virtues that the Humanists of the Renaissance admired. They focus on the joys of this life instead of focusing on death and the afterlife. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
