Crafting an essay on the subject of "Good Medical School Essays" can be a challenging
endeavor that requires a delicate balance of personal reflection, academic prowess, and a
profound understanding of the medical field. One must navigate through the intricate web of
showcasing one's unique qualities, experiences, and aspirations while adhering to the stringent
guidelines set by medical school admissions.
The difficulty lies not only in presenting a compelling narrative but also in addressing the
essential elements that make a medical school essay stand out. It involves seamlessly integrating
one's academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and volunteer experiences into a cohesive
story that not only demonstrates a passion for medicine but also a deep commitment to making a
meaningful impact in the healthcare field.
Moreover, the essay must transcend the commonplace and delve into the realm of introspection,
revealing the applicant's genuine motivations, values, and the transformative moments that have
shaped their desire to pursue a career in medicine. Striking the right balance between humility
and confidence is crucial, as is the ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity and conviction.
Additionally, grappling with the fear of sounding clichГ©d or formulaic adds another layer of
complexity. The challenge lies in finding a unique angle or perspective that sets the essay apart
from the multitude of applications pouring into medical schools.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Good Medical School Essays" demands not only
a deep understanding of oneself and the medical profession but also a mastery of storytelling
and communication skills. It is a task that necessitates time, dedication, and a keen awareness of
the expectations of the admissions committee. However, the journey of self-discovery and the
opportunity to convey one's passion for medicine can make the process both challenging and
rewarding.

Cyberbullying And Its Effect On Children Essay
The internet is the single worldwide computer network that interconnects other
computer networks on which end user services, such as world wide web sites or data
archives, are located, enabling data and other information to be exchanged (Internet,
n.d.). This essay will identify and discuss one concern for users of the internet, which
is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is carried out through cell phones, computers, e
mails and any other electronic devices or social media sites. Cyberbullying has the
potential to be devastating to children, adolescents and adults as it is being cruel to
others by sending or posting harmful material or engaging in other forms of social
aggression using the internet or other digital technologies (Morgan, 2013). Firstly,
this essay will look at the internet, what it is, when it came about, what it is used
for and the benefits and disadvantages of the internet. Secondly, I will discuss
cyberbullying, what it means, the concern, what is involved, and who is involved.
Thirdly, the effects of cyberbullying, why and how has it become a concern,
consequences for those involved, how bad the problem is, and will it continue to be
a growing concern unless something is done. And lastly, what is being done to
address the problem of cyberbullying, what is the government doing about the
problem, people and organizations that are or need to be involved, and what else
could be done.
The internet is a global wide area network. A system connecting computers
Narrative vs. Descriptive Writing
A narrative essay uses a point of view to tell a story. It is an engaging way for an
author to tell his reader about an experience they have had or a personal story.
Descriptive writing is a description of something. It could be a person, place, thing,
emotion or experience. The author is allowed more artistic freedom when writingin
descriptive form. While both descriptive and narrative essays are similar in many
ways, the descriptive essays use of language fully immerses the reader into the story
and allows the reader to feel the intended emotion. Descriptive writing is painting a
vivid image. When reading I want to be able to lose myself in the writing doesn t

It is very important for a narrative essay to follow a sequence of events. In the
narrative essay This Old House, the author followed a clear chronological order.
Sedaris told a story that included all of the typical components such as an
introduction, and worked its way through all of the events, introducing you to the
characters and setting the stage along the way. Our book explains As you learned
earlier, plot is the order, or sequence, of events that unfold in your story. It is
crucial that you organize these events so that, by the end of the story, they make
sense to the reader and build up to a crucial moment in the narrative. (Connell Sole,
2013). Sedaris did an excellent job of guiding the reader through the story. In
contrast, descriptive writing does not necessarily follow a timeline or story pattern.
Descriptive style must use another form of organization. A descriptive essay may
for example separate paragraphs by the particular details being described. The author
may devote an entire paragraph to a sense, emotion or object. Amy Tan devoted one
paragraph to describe her angst and dismay When I found out that my parents had
invited the minister s family over for Christmas Eve dinner, I cried. What would
Robert think of our shabby Chinese Christmas? What would he think of our noisy
Chinese relatives who lacked proper American manners? What terrible

Dna Profiling Research Paper
Indeed DNA profiling has rapidly transform the field of forensics. DNA profiling is
the scientific analysis of evidence for crime scene investigation and other legal
proceedings. DNA profiling is mostly used by forensic scientists and crime lab
technicians. To identify criminals and victims using trace evidence like hair or skin
samples. To produce a DNAprofile, scientists compare sequences in the genome that
vary from person to person. The typical steps in DNA profilingare DNA samples are
isolated from the crimescene, suspect, victims, or other evidence. The next selected
sequences from each DNA sample are amplified (copied many times) to produce a
large sample of DNA fragments. Finally the amplified DNA regions are compared
using a gel. All together, these steps provide data about which samples are from the
same individual and which sample is unique.
DNA profiling can also be used to compare the DNA of a mother, her child, and the
purported father can settle a question of paternity. An example is when DNA

Research Paper #1 Revision
April 19th 2015
Abstract
This paper will discuss the three main fossil fuels which are oil, coal, and natural
gas. This research shows how the fossil fuels are formed, where they could be
found, and explain how they were formed over millions of years. This paper will
show the numerous advantages of fossil fuels compared to the disadvantages and
how they are hurting the Earth. Fossils fuels are critical to the function of everyday
life. The world would be a different if fossil fuels and their uses were not to of use.
In the United States and Across the Globe
In today s society fossil fuels are the primary source of energy for most of the
industrialized world. Utilizing fossil fuels has been very important to the
industrialization development throughout the world. Industrialization in many parts
of the world, energy has been needed at a much higher density then before and fossil
fuels have fulfilled that need. Coal, gas, and oil are the three major sources of fossil
fuels in the world. Despite other means of energy such as wind power, hydroelectric
power etc., fossil fuels are still the main source of energy across the continent.
Fossils fuels are critical to the function of society. Fossil fuels (oil, coal, and natural
gas) are the dominant source of energy today and will be for decades to come.

Quiznos Subs
Throughout my lifetime thus far, I have had 5 different careers. My first job was
when I was 16 years old, where I worked as a cashier and stocker at the 99 Cents
Only store. I had been promoted from a stocker to cashier within a couple months
and ended up leaving the company a year later. When I was 17, my motherbought her
first house after the divorce in the city of Surprise, Arizona. Working at the 99
Cents Only store would be to far for me to travel, so I found another job at Quiznos
Subs. I ended up working as a cashier, but quickly moved up to a shift leader and
assistant to the store owner. I was in charge of ordering supplies and counting down
the register at night, while making deposits at the bank. I ended up working for

I was making a lot more money on the floor then at the front registers, especially
with the commission checks rolling in on special orders. I was making a solid

trip ended up going for about 4 weeks. I only had enough vacation for 2 weeks, but
we didn t want to return, so I decided to call out, but that only lasted so long. Upon
my return, I was let go from my job, since I failed to abide to the company s
attendance policy. I was unemployed for about 2 months, when I was referred to Best
Western International Corporate office. During my unemployment period, I felt
miserable and was extremely disappointed in my decision. I didn t want my family to
find out, so I would go out and hang out at my friend s place and return after an 8
hour shift. I was hired on to Best Western in 2008, where I was a reservations agent
taking inbound calls for hotel reservations. I quickly moved around departments
getting crossed trained in a number of different fields, which included Rewards and
Customer Service and worked on the Language team helping Spanish callers. I then

Essay Comparing The Most Dangerous Game And Hyeonseo
Lee
A hero from a fairy tale, a military veteran, or a cancer patient. These are the type of
people that one may think about when they hear the word survivor, but what does it
take to be one? In Trapped , The Most Dangerous Game , and Hyeonseo Lee: My
Escape from North Korea , three different survivors display different qualities that
help them through their difficult situation. To escape these situations, Rainsford
displays intelligence, Lee has determination, and Ralston shows courage. With regard
to Rainsford in The Most Dangerous Game, he shows intelligence. For example, on
page 19, line 537, Even so zealous a hunter as General Zaroff could not trace him
there, he told himself; only the devil himself could follow that complicated trail
through the jungle after dark. This displays Rainsford s intelligence, because of his
plan to throw off Zaroff. Rainsford took the time to create a complicated trail, and
not just run for his life. He knows that he must slow down and think about how to
defeat Zaroff,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, at 7:03, They had to get out quickly. So I started planning how to help
them escape. Lee had already escaped North Korea and was getting used to a new
life. However, when she heard the news about her family, she decides to leave the
safety of South Korea and help them escape. She knows it will be dangerous, but
she is determined to get them to safety. In addition, at 9:12, Lee s family was
caught and thrown in jail, and Lee explains that she did everything she could. This
displays Lee s determination because of how much she was willing to do. She
traveled incredible distances to get them to safety, and used up almost all of her
money. She did not give up helping her family, even if it meant having to bail them
out of jail multiple times. Lee s determination was important to her and her family s
survival, and without it they would be jailed, or worse,
Mass Incarceration Of Poor Black Male
Mass Incarceration of poor, black male, and increasingly female, young people in the
Name of a Bogus War on Drugs
Purpose of the Study Purpose Statement: to reveal the problem of mass
incarceration of poor, black male, and increasingly female, young people in the name
of a bogus war on drugs from the 1980 s?90 s.
The purpose of this study is to expose the process of mass incarceration of poor black
males, and females increasingly, within the context of a fabricated war on drugs
which really is serving to keep the prison population booming by exploiting
traditionally disadvantaged minorities in society. Alexander rightfully calls this a
?redesign? of the old racial caste system in America which was supposed to have
been destroyed by the civil rights movement. The war on drugs in the 80s merely
became the newest vehicle by which to exploit the black community in this country.
The War on Drugs is really the rationale for racial control, which targets black men
and women and relegates millions of citizens to what Alexander calls a ?second class
status (Alexander, 2012).?
This is written as if not a call to action, then a call to galvanize. The purposes of this
report is to enable readers to through empirical and contextual description see the
war on drugs for what is really is: a public relations ploy whose end results are not
fighting drugs, but
Brutality In North Carolina

But every year it lose 8.41 millions acres of land due to deforestation and fires. The
more the people cut down the trees ,the less habitats animals have .The trees releases
air into the atmosphere, so the more they cut the land the less are they have. The
increase animal s death would also have a toll in this as well.
Gas prices in North Carolina is a major issue right now due to Hurricane Matthew
striking the state. Owners of gas companies are choosing to increase their prices
because they know that most of the public needs gas to maneuver to safe zones.
When there has been a state of emergency because of the weather, gas station owners
should be applicated to charge a low and fair amount for gas.
In North Carolina, women who holds a full time job is paid $34,421 per year
whereas a man who holds a full time job is paid $41,859 per year. This means that
women in North Carolina are paid 82 cents for every dollar paid to men, amounting
to a yearly wage gap of $7,438 between men and women who work full time in the
state. Women and Man in every state should be paid and the same
The Association Between My Social Work Classes And My...
The objective of this composition is to discuss the association between my social
work classes and my field experience. An internship is a platform to provide real
world involvement of students in a field or occupation. Classroom lectures that
involved lessons and exercises on the social work profession were meaningful to me
as a student. They brought insight into policies, laws, research, and methods that I
will need to utilize in the social workprofession. My field internship at Urban
Ministries of Durham (UMD) provides me the opportunity to connect the classroom
lectures and real world involvement in the social work occupation.
More so, to discuss the entirety of the connection between my classroom lectures
and my internship would be lengthy and difficult to accomplish. However, I will
discuss the aspects that were instantly noticeable that would be difficult to notice
without the classroom lectures on the social worker occupation. For instance, one
thing I learned about social work, I learned from my Intervention Method in the
Helping Profession class. In the class taught by Dr. Hodges, I learned about client
empowerment. In the book assigned to the class client empowerment is defined as
to enhance the capacity, or power, of clients to address their life concerns (Walsh,
2009, p.16). I interpret this concept as a social worker that we are to develop a
positive sense self worth and competence about their life. I observed in my field
placement at UMD by addressing
The Wrongful Convictions Of Innocent Men And Women
We hear in the news about police misconduct, use of excessive force, embezzlement,
but one thing I found while researching what I should write this paper on is the
Wrongful convictions of innocent men and women, that spend years in prison being
innocent, and there is nothing that gets done till it s too late. Some wrongful
convictions are honest mistakes, but many times law enforcement and prosecutors
lose sight of the obligation of ensuring truth and justice, and are focused on their
convictionrates. As with any job, they are honest people and ones that just don t care
and are corrupt, this exists in the criminal justice system. One way to prove someone
is innocent now is through DNA testing, but even at all levels of a criminal
investigation there could be misconduct or mishandling of evidence, which then
causes the evidence to become compromised.
One thing I notice is a lot of the misconduct is by the arresting officers or detectives
that are investigating the crime. The ways an office can have misconduct that could
lead to false convictions, include suggestions when conducting interviews, coercing
false confessions, lying to jurors about observations, failing to turn over evidence.
Common forms of misconduct by a prosecutor can include, withhold evidence from
defense, mishandling, mistreating or destroying evidence, allowing witnesses that
they know are not truthful to testify, Pressing Witnesses of the defense to not testify,
relying on fraudulent forensic experts.

Comeback Wake up, Wake up, His mom yells him from his doorway. He slowly

where, to, be, late, but nothing after that. He stuttered as he walked over to his

what to wear. Which felt like an hour but was only forty five seconds he finally
found what he was going to wear. He soon made it to the bathroom, turning the

his mom yelled as he hopped out of shower and quickly put his clothes on. He was
in such a hurry, he almost slipped on the slippery cold tile of the bathroom floor
barely catching himself with granite counter top of the sink. His mom was waiting
patiently in the car not knowing if he would be there until another two hours.
Suddenly as he looked at his phone charging on his bed stand he noticed the time.

it down three floors to the main floor. He jumped out of the elevator and sprinted to

My First Job At Dsw
Upon applying to my first job at DSW as a high school student, the only thought in
my mind was the ability to make my own money and spend it how I choose.
However, now as I am about to graduate, I have acquired more wisdom and
understanding when it comes to selecting a job for myself. Money is only part of the
equation to truly being satisfied with a job. The other parts of the equation include:
management, the team, challenges, and a company s values.
Management is key when it comes to applying for a job. Matter of fact it is so
important that I was advised by the mentors in my life to keep that in the forefront
of my mind when considering any job and/or internship. It is key for a manager to
provide regular feedback on my performance.
Complications Of Functional Perception Patterns In The...
Introduction
The ability to generate category related representations for a limitless collection of
visual contents is a vital function of human brain (Chao et al., 1999). It is
demonstrated that widely distributed neural networks are engaged in the distinction
of semantic categories, such as the ventral temporal cortex, which plays a significant
role in face and object recognition (Chao et al., 1999; Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et
al., 2001; O toole et al., 2005). Accumulating evidence has suggested that differential
neural response patterns in human brain are closely associated with specific
categories of visual stimuli (Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; Kanwisher et al.,
1997). However, it remains unclear how the functional ... Show more content on

Using multi voxel pattern analysis (MVPA), they found that the neural
representations of face and objects can be discriminated not only by activation
patterns within the specific cortical regions that maximally respond to one category,
but can also be identified according to the patterns of nonmaximal responses (Haxby
et al., 2001), which provided us with novel insights into the neural mechanism
underlying the decoding of semantic categories.
While the MVPA method adopted in this study well characterized the features of the
response patterns associated with the semantic categories, it was computationally
heavy. Also, it remained an open question whether a simpler method univariate
analysis will provide sufficient evidence indicating the category specificity of the
distributed neural representations in human brain. Therefore, in the current study, I
applied a straightforward univariate analysis on the original data of Haxby et al. s
(2001) experiment to further investigate the neural response patterns evoked by face
and object stimuli. More specifically, I examined whether the category related
information was revealed by the patterns of response across the whole brain space,
and the activation in the functional localizer fusiform face area resulted from face
stimuli.

Colossal Figure Of Akhenaten Essay
The Colossal Figure of Akhenaten was built during the Amarna Period, which was a
period of change. The ruler was Amenhotep IV who changed his name to Akhenaten
around 1348 BC. Akhenaten changed the religion from polytheism to monotheism
and he moved the capital of Egypt from Thebes to Akhetaten. He also changed the
artwork of the time, which is clearly shown in the Colossal Statue of Akhenaten. This
statue was placed southeast of the Temple of Karnack where a temple for the (new)
one God, Aten, was built. The Statue is a depiction of Akhenaten. It is about 16 feet
tall and made of sandstone that has traces of polychromy within it.
The reason why the Amarna Period art is drastically different is because the pharaoh,
Akhenaten, was depicted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Akhenaten s statue has none of those qualities. It depicts the pharaoh as having a
large stomach, not flat abs, which is shown by the obvious natural, curved line that is
just above the sash and is the most prominent distortion. This is also an implied line
that enunciates the imperfect body shape of the statue. The protruding stomach also
creates a natural shadow that further shows the distorted features. Continuing
downward on the statue to the sash there is also a natural, curved line that goes
upward towards the thin waistline. This shows a feminine quality that men should
not have. On the clothing, there is an implied overlapping with the pieces of cloth in
the front shown by the layering effect. Also, on the clothing there are implied lines
that seem to curve around the statue. They all seem to be drawn to an unseen focal
point near the top of the sash, creating movement. This implies that the clothing is
wrinkled giving it a different texture then the rest of the statue which is smooth. It
also emphasizes the feminine curve to his body. This is also emphasized by the lines
that are further apart on top and as the body narrows, the lines get closer together like
the fabric has to stretch more around the

Clara Schuman Impact On Society
In an era where only men got to do things that weren t housework and motherhood
women s rights were practically nonexistent, Clara Schuman performed in public and
composed, something that women in her time never did. She was the main
interpreter of her husband s work, but she also played an important role in
reintroducing eighteenth century music to the public. Unfortunately, her
compositions remained unknown until the second half of the twentieth century.
Many are still unpublished and owned by private collectors. Clara was born into a

life down to the smallest detail. She daily received a one hour lesson and two hours
of practice. In March 1828, at the
Oral Mucosa At The Macroscopic Level
The oral mucosa is a specialized tissue lining the oral cavity and consists of the
following components: (1) the masticatory mucosa, which lines the gingiva and the
hard palate; (2) the specialized mucosa covering the dorsum of the tongue; and (3)
the lining mucosa which covers the reminder of the oral cavity [201, 202]. The
gingivais considered an adaptation of the oral masticatory mucosa covering the
alveolar bone and surrounding the cervical portions of teeth. The gingiva protects
the roots of teeth, and underlying alveolar bone from mechanical trauma and serves
as the first line of defence against bacteria by preventing it from reaching the deeper
structures [201, 203]. The gingiva can be demarcated into several zones at the
macroscopic (as perceived by the unaided eye) and the microscopic levels according
to anatomy or/ and function.
2.3.1.2.1Oral mucosa at the macroscopic level
The normal healthy appearance of the gingiva is coral pink with a scalloped coronal
border known as the free gingival margin. The free gingival margin is approximately
located 1.5 to 2 mm coronal to the cementoenamel junction (CEJ) in healthy fully
erupted teeth [204]. On the other end, the gingiva becomes continuous with the loose,
red lining mucosa known as the alveolar mucosa . The alveolar mucosa differs in
colour since it has a thin non keratinized epithelium and loose connective tissues that
contain numerous blood vessels but no rete pegs. Typically, the gingiva can be easily

Happiness Is An Impossible Dream Essay
For centuries, people had been seeking happiness. Everybody wants it, but it seems
like nobody has it. Everywhere you go at work, at home, in school, at the market, in
church you see people struggling; they exist but are not alive, like they are designed
to be slightly dissatisfied with everything.
Male and female, rich and poor, young and old, no one is free. Everyone is in a
cloud of discontent. For all the things they do have, they re always wanting

Biography of Samuel F.B. Morse Essay
Samuel F. B. Morse was one of the greatest inventors of the 19th century; he was
the invention of the singled wire telegraph machine that influenced the Industrial
Revolution in America and the Morse code led way to many future innovations.
Samuel Morse was not just an inventor; he was also a painter that did works such
as The Chapel of the Virgin at Subiaco and The Gallery of the Louvre 1831 1833 to
portraits of famous politicians such as John Adams. Samuel F. B. Morse was born
in Charleston, Massachusetts on April 17, 1791. He was the son of a geographer
and pastor Jedidiah Morse and Elizabeth Ann Finley Breese. Samuel Morris was
originally interested in painting; his paintings usually put in more detail to the

Samuel Morse ran into problems during the development of the telegraph machine,
the telegraph machine could only transmit information for a little bit more than a
few hundred yards due to the loss of current over long distances. Not until
Professor Leonard Gale, of New York University, that helped improved Morse s
design that used superior batteries and electromagnets that enabled it to transfer
currents over great distances. After the help of Gale, Samuel Morse had perfected
his telegraph; it was able to send signals over great distances. Although his Journey
wasn t over, he now had to send his work to Washington where he awaited to be
approved by Congress. He attended both sessions of Congress, from 1837 to 1838
and another one in 1842 to 1843. During the last day of the session, which was
March 3, 1843, he spent the whole day and part of the evening in the Senate
chamber, anxiously watching the progress of the passing of the various bills
(Morse) to watch the bill get passed, he was awarded $30,000 to set up the very
first telegraph machine from Washington to Baltimore. His first telegraph machine
was made from household instruments that consisted of an old picture or canvas
frame fastened to a table; the wheels of an old wooden clock [...] and a short circuit
of a wire, embracing the helices of the electro magnet connected with the positive and
negative poles of the battery and terminating the mercury cups (Morse). His apparatus

Pros And Cons Of Brothels In Nevada
You are in good company if you are a male currently in Las Vegas, or arranging a
visit, and find yourself more than a little curious about brothels in Nevada. The
thought of visiting such an establishment excites many who cannot wait to immerse
themselves in the unrestrained environ of America s Playground. Before you
picture yourself a short cab ride away from legal brothels in Las Vegas, familiarize
yourself with the facts about such places. Most falsely believe there are brothels on
the Strip, and this is not the case. Knowing what to expect about a Vegas brothel
experience prevents any unpleasant surprises and assists in planning a journey to the
rural areas in which they are located.
Before we touch on specifics, it is worth mentioning that as one of the leading escort
services in Las Vegas, our offerings differ from what is on hand at Nevadabrothels.
Private stripper services from Bunnies of Las Vegas Escorts are another sort of adult

Steve Mccurry Photoshop s Controversy
One of most international well known photographers, Steve McCurry Photoshop s

whether Steve McCurry s use of Photoshop in his work is ethical or not. In my point

Analysis Of The Chase Annie Dillard
All good things must come to an end. A common phrase we have become
accustomed to hearing, and a phrase that parallels the meaning of Annie Dillard s
The Chase , an excerpt from her autobiography An American Childhood. In The
Chase (1987), Annie Dillard recounts how childhood, no matter how enjoyable,
will come to a close. Dillard conveys this by carefully detailing her childhood
experience as a tomboy and that nothing girls did could not compare (1). Her
experience during the chase symbolized an end of Dillard s childhood and wishing
for the glory to last forever (19). The author recounts her story of the chase in order
to express exuberance and love for childhood compared to the fact of mandatory
growing old. The author addresses the audience in this narrative chapter of An
American Childhood to express how short childhood is is this passing craze of
life. The author uses expertly composed imagery, parallelism, diction and tone to
create the impactful story in a chapter of her autobiography. The use of imagery
builds the story and expresses how important Dillard s childhood was in shaping
the women she has become today . The excerpt begins with a reflection upon her
childhood and growing up a tomboy. Dillard set the stage for the chase by
explaining the day as cloudy but cold (5) with cars lining the snow covered street.
Imagery is used not only to set the stage for the day of the chase but it is also used
to describe the man chasing them as a city man dressed in a suit and tie, street
shoes (10). Using imagery to describe the man s appearance helps the reader to
understand how unusual the man s appearance was and that the man was chasing
them through the city. Dillard builds the suspense of the chase by taking the reader
through the motions, past a ...yellow house...under a low tree, up a bank, through a
hedge... (12), she builds an image in our minds of the neighborhood. The imagery
is used to build up the scene, convey suspense and create emotions for the reader.
Dillard chose to use diction, or word choice, to accent the two different aspects of
the story. One aspect of the author s word choice was to portray her young, seven
year old personality. She chose to use a simple words
Charles Dickens Oliver Twist, And The Parish Boy s...
Many critics today consider Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, or, The Parish
Boy s Progress, as being a commentary of both society s treatment and view of the
lower class in the 19th century. In the early 1800 s a Poor Law was put in place,
saying that each parish was required to care for their poor within the area. Many
viewed this as the lower class being lazy and lacking ambition. Dickens uses irony
to comment on the society s belief that the lower class were fated to remain in that
manner. The use of irony occurs throughout the novel, becoming present in the
beginning of the story when Oliver s mother is in labour. Upon his birth Oliver is
described as being unequally poised amid this world and the next (1). In this
passage Dickens juxtaposes Oliver between living the life he has just been born into,
and death, assuming to be reincarnated and born into the next , presumably better,
life. He then furthers this contrast by comparing the situation Oliver found himself
in, being birthed by a woman who was rendered rather misty and a parish surgeon
who he notes worked by contract (1). The alliteration used in the former brings
emphasis to the company Oliver is in during such a crucial time, with a woman who
is drunk and a surgeon who is there as he has no other choice. The author again
juxtaposes Oliver s lonesome and melancholic situation to the ideal situation of
childbirth, with careful grandmothers, anxious aunts, experienced nurses, and doctors

Jesus Christ Died On The Cross For Our Sins
As believers, we are constantly reminded that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our
sins. His death and his resurrection are fundamental to our Christian faith. Without his
death, the relationship between God and His creation would have remained broken.
Unfortunately, many believers do not take the time to consider the complex and deep
meaning of Jesusdeath. If I have learned one concept throughout this class is that if I
do not have a personal comprehension of Jesus death, I will never be saved. His
death signifies salvation. It motivates us to imitate Jesus life as he was completely
human and never sinned, yet he died on the cross in the cruelest way. Personally,
Jesus death means love, reconciliation, redemption, and victory.
When Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree, sin entered the world and that
which was once good became corrupted. From that moment, we were separated
from God. Yet because we were made in His image and He love us so much, He
gave up his one and only son to die on the cross for our sins. One of God s
attributes is His benevolence, which means that He loves and cares about all His
creation. He is also merciful, which means that He is very compassionate and tender
hearted towards us. I mention these specific attributes to emphasize the fact that these
attributes were also present in the person of Christ. Jesus said, He who has seen me
has seen the Father (John 14:9), meaning that if we want to personally know the love,
the holiness, the power

of the development of global trading system and globalisation can be more clearly

India was the major exporter of cotton goods which Britain was one of the main
cotton textile importers, since India have geographical advantages, the good quality

The timeline to appeal is inconsistently stated in two different sections of the
WellCare Medicaid Provider Manual. In Section 5, the manual states that claim
payment disputes must be submitted to WellCare in writing within one year of the
date of the denial of the EOP. In Section 7, the Manual states that Providers have 90
calendar days from the original utilization management or claim denial to file a
provider appeal. Important to both of these provisions is that the appeal time
period does not commence until an EOP or claim denial is received by the
Hospital. In this case, the only written notice the Hospital appears to have received
from WellCare discussing its adjustment of the claim is the April 25, 2013 ERA.
The ERA, however, showed no denied charges, but instead purported (incorrectly) to
pay the entire claim at the contract rate. This is consistent with the verbal
information provided by WellCare s representatives that the claim had not been
denied. Accordingly, the appeal time period never started to run because no claim
denial was sent to the Hospital, and as such, the Hospital s appeals were timely

Compare And Contrast The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The
Flood
When examining the story of the Biblical flood, it is essential to point out that
there are other flood stories in Ancient Near Eastern cultures. In fact, there are up to
sixty eight different cultures with stories of a great flood! It is important for one to
see how each flood story affects and influences one another. For example, it is
evident that the Babylonian culture influenced the writer of the Biblical flood story,
which was made hundreds of years after the making of the Babylonian story. One of
the greatest examples of this is in The Epic of Gilgamesh, a Babylonian story that
includes the tale of Utnapishtim, a man some would like to say is similar to the
character Noah in a few ways. Both men are called upon by a being of higher... Show

As stated in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , each story has
unique elements, and the differences from the Biblical story are often more striking
than the similarities . For example, in the Atrahasis Epic, one of the gods in the
story punishes humanity because of the amount of noise made and in The Epic of
Gilgamesh, the god Enlil destroys the city where Utnapishtim is living
in(presumably furious with mankind). In the Genesis Flood Story, the Yahwist
version depicts YHWH as regretting His creation, while the Priestly version depicts
God as tired of human corruption. In all three stories, the gods send the flood for
similar reasons; they are angry with humanity. However, this is where the similarities
end. In Genesis, God floods the world in the pursuit of justice/regret, while the god
in Atrahasis is angry for a less significant offense. Though flooding the world is an
unjustified action, it is interesting that a god would be irritated enough at noise to
want to eradicate humanity. These stories are all more intriguing when compared
because it helps us to better understand the motivations of each being that causes the
flood event.Again, in the article Background Info on the Flood Stories , the author
talks about how each of these stories have a different religious interpretation than the
Biblical flood story. This is especially since the people involved(Noah,

Although Schooning has ulterior motives, he has enough concern for the lady he

when Schwartz married Lulu, he became his friend (qtd. in Wedekind 80).
Therefore, Schoning encourages Lulu to settle down, Schoning says take him in

Weaknesses within Zara Business Model
Since Zara has a short lead time for delivering products, it keeps no buffer stock and
most, if not all, logistics arrangements were centralized at the head office in La

As the store managers are empowered to decide what products to be put in the store,
their business sense are crucial. However, since the store managers are not expertise

Information needed to operate in this business model
To operate this business model, the store managers should have the access to accurate

Southern Masculinity in Faulkner s The Unvanquished
The narrator of Faulkner s The Unvanquished is apparently an adult recounting his
childhood. The first person narrator is a child at the story s outset, but the narrative
voice is lucid, adult. Telling the story of his childhood allows the narratorto
distinguish for the reader what he believed as a child from what he know[s] better
now (10). The difference affords an examination of dominant southern masculinity as
it is internalized by Bayard and Ringo, and demonstrates the effects on the boys of
the impossible ideal.
The initial indication that narrator Bayard may be an adult recounting his childhood

As children, neither Bayard nor Ringo would possess the capacity for critical
thinking necessary to employ the linguistic precision demonstrated above.Children
think more abstractly, in grander and simpler terms. For example, they may take
role models unreflectively; Bayard and Ringo play act as General Van Dorn and
General Pemberton, but they obviously do not understand why these men are their
heroes. Based on what they have been told, and wholly independent of reality, the
boys have constructed a General Pemberton that represents good and a General
Grant that represents evil. By rule, Bayard plays the good guy twice for every
single time Ringo gets to. The unfairness of this rule is apparently as lost on the
boys as the idea that in the context of this game, Grant would make a more suitable
good guy for Ringo.
The disparities in their relationship are apparently unnoticed by both Bayard and
Ringo. They think that they are equals. They had been born in the same month and
had both fed at the same breast and had slept together and eaten together until they
felt like brothers. They are not brothers, though. When Sartoris comes home in spring,
both boys run to meet the man they look up to as a father, and they enter, Bayard
standing in one stirrup with Father s arm around me, and Ringo holding to the other

Laughter In Russ s Blues By Willy Russell
Laughter is a dominant emotional response because of reasons such as the brawling
that Russ is provoked into. He does outrageous things such as threatening a minister
and causing him to fall and hurt himself. There are also silly arguments that provoke
laughter that happen throughout the play, such as one about what the capitals are of
different countries. Lastly, in the second act all the characters start talking/yelling at
once so that they just create useless noise, and even when at first politeness is taken
to an extreme, nothing gets done in the meeting of the couples.
This play fits into high comedy because it is constrained by social expectations, and
has important social commentary on racial divides and racism today versus in the past.
Software Program Development at Global Investment Inc
Running Head: SOFTWARE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT Software Program
Development Organization Overview Global Investment Inc (a fictitious company) is
an organization dedicating to provide investment advice to the businesses and
individual across the United States. Recent growth in the business of Global
Investment has made management of the company to make decision on the
development of software program that could be used daily by customers. Problem
Analysis To enhance the delivery of the software program, Global Investment met a
software developer to provide the software code, and during the project
implementation, there were series of problems that occurred which nearly led to the
project breakdown. Typically, there were series of misunderstanding regarding the
project requirements, and management could not stick to the decision with regard to
the project requirements. Moreover, management of Global Investment constantly
changes their decisions concerning the project requirements and the deadline set for
the project was unreliable. Several other problems emancipated when the software
developer delivered the project. First, a quality issue appeared during the project
implementation. The functionality of the system delivered was not compatible to the
business requirements. Moreover, the time frame allotted to the testing of the
program was very short. During software testing, there were series of bugs and errors
that showed during software implementation. While Global
Southwest Airline Case Study
History
Southwest Airlines has been a model of admiration for the airline industry and
businesses from around the world combined. Southwest Airlines is a rag to riches
story that has had to fight for everything it has become. Before Southwest was able
to take on its first passengers, they had to fight competitors in the court system for
nearly three and a half years.
In 1966, Fortune Magazine states, A San Antonio lawyer, Herb Kelleher, founded
Southwest with one of his clients (now a Board member) over drinks at a local bar.
Southwest was started in a bar on a cocktail napkin. Fortune Magazine quoted Mr.
Kelleher, it was at the St. Anthony s Club in San Antonio, Texas that Rollin King
came to me with the idea of starting a low fare ... Show more content on

Southwest Airlines is characterized as a C corporation with duration distinguished as
a normal perpetual existence. The shareholders are not normally liable for debts of
the corporation and they preserve an operation that is normally more structured,
requiring more meetings and (in some states) more reporting requirements.
Management is very centralized through the board of directors (elected by the
shareholders) and the officers (elected by the directors). The corporation is taxable
entity, although the income which would normally be taxed at the corporate level
can normally be paid out in salaries (and in other deductible ways) so that there is in
fact no tax at the corporate level. As far as transferability of interest, it is normally
fully transferable and raising capital is in the choice of public companies. Southwest
Airlines values employees, initiating the first profit sharing plan in the U.S. airline
industry in 1974 and offered it ever since. In 2000, Southwest offered its employees
a record setting $138M in profit sharing. This tax deferred compensation represented
an additional 14.1 percent of each employee s annual salary. The current mission
statement of Southwest Airlines does not satisfactorily address each component of
the Evaluation Matrix of Mission Statements and therefore should be revised. I have
revised the mission statement and believe the revision below better addresses each

Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism describes alcoholism as a
disease whose signs and symptoms include:
* craving for alcohol
* loss of control, with difficulty or inability to stop drinking once alcohol
consumption begins
* physical dependence, causing alcohol withdrawal symptoms (such as nausea,
anxiety, tremors, and diaphoresis) after alcohol intake ceases
* alcohol tolerance the desire or need to consume greater amounts of alcohol to obtain
the same effect.
Alcohol consumption is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Worldwide, the
mortality attributable to alcohol is at 3.8%. (Thebault, Falcoff, Favre Rigal, 2015).
According to the World Health Organization s statistics, alcohol kills 2.5 million...

Meticulous, ongoing assessment is critical for early identification of symptom
severity and potential complications so appropriate treatment can be provided, and
the patient evaluated in terms of overall progress. Nurses should recognize clinical
features of alcohol withdrawal in any patient admitted to the hospital. Timely
sedation will prevent the onset of convulsion or progression to delirium tremens.
The most effective regimen is to control the agitation, sweating, and tremor with
symptom triggered dosing. Nurses assessment skills are central to use of symptom
triggered dosing in any setting. While standing orders are common for fixed dose
scheduling, the skilled nurse is able to provide optimal care through symptom
triggered dosing. Under the provider s orders, benzodiazepines should be
administered when the patient shows early signs of withdrawal to prevent
progression of the symptoms. The goal is to keep the patient mildly sedated or in a
calm, tranquil state while still allowing easy arousal (Donnelly, Kent Wilkinson Rush,

Good Medical School Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Good Medical School Essays" can be a challenging endeavor that requires a delicate balance of personal reflection, academic prowess, and a profound understanding of the medical field. One must navigate through the intricate web of showcasing one's unique qualities, experiences, and aspirations while adhering to the stringent guidelines set by medical school admissions. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a compelling narrative but also in addressing the essential elements that make a medical school essay stand out. It involves seamlessly integrating one's academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and volunteer experiences into a cohesive story that not only demonstrates a passion for medicine but also a deep commitment to making a meaningful impact in the healthcare field. Moreover, the essay must transcend the commonplace and delve into the realm of introspection, revealing the applicant's genuine motivations, values, and the transformative moments that have shaped their desire to pursue a career in medicine. Striking the right balance between humility and confidence is crucial, as is the ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity and conviction. Additionally, grappling with the fear of sounding clichГ©d or formulaic adds another layer of complexity. • 2. Cyberbullying And Its Effect On Children Essay The internet is the single worldwide computer network that interconnects other computer networks on which end user services, such as world wide web sites or data archives, are located, enabling data and other information to be exchanged (Internet, n.d.). This essay will identify and discuss one concern for users of the internet, which is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is carried out through cell phones, computers, e mails and any other electronic devices or social media sites. Cyberbullying has the potential to be devastating to children, adolescents and adults as it is being cruel to others by sending or posting harmful material or engaging in other forms of social aggression using the internet or other digital technologies (Morgan, 2013). Firstly, this essay will look at the internet, what it is, when it came about, what it is used for and the benefits and disadvantages of the internet. Secondly, I will discuss cyberbullying, what it means, the concern, what is involved, and who is involved. Thirdly, the effects of cyberbullying, why and how has it become a concern, consequences for those involved, how bad the problem is, and will it continue to be a growing concern unless something is done. And lastly, what is being done to address the problem of cyberbullying, what is the government doing about the problem, people and organizations that are or need to be involved, and what else could be done. • 3. Narrative vs. Descriptive Writing A narrative essay uses a point of view to tell a story. It is an engaging way for an author to tell his reader about an experience they have had or a personal story. Descriptive writing is a description of something. It could be a person, place, thing, emotion or experience. The author is allowed more artistic freedom when writingin descriptive form. While both descriptive and narrative essays are similar in many ways, the descriptive essays use of language fully immerses the reader into the story and allows the reader to feel the intended emotion. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is very important for a narrative essay to follow a sequence of events. In the narrative essay This Old House, the author followed a clear chronological order. Sedaris told a story that included all of the typical components such as an introduction, and worked its way through all of the events, introducing you to the characters and setting the stage along the way. Our book explains As you learned earlier, plot is the order, or sequence, of events that unfold in your story. It is crucial that you organize these events so that, by the end of the story, they make sense to the reader and build up to a crucial moment in the narrative. (Connell Sole, 2013). Sedaris did an excellent job of guiding the reader through the story. In contrast, descriptive writing does not necessarily follow a timeline or story pattern. Descriptive style must use another form of organization. A descriptive essay may for example separate paragraphs by the particular details being described. The author may devote an entire paragraph to a sense, emotion or object. Amy Tan devoted one paragraph to describe her angst and dismay When I found out that my parents had invited the minister s family over for Christmas Eve dinner, I cried. What would Robert think of our shabby Chinese Christmas? What would he think of our noisy Chinese relatives who lacked proper American manners? What terrible disappointment
  • 4. Dna Profiling Research Paper Indeed DNA profiling has rapidly transform the field of forensics. DNA profiling is the scientific analysis of evidence for crime scene investigation and other legal proceedings. DNA profiling is mostly used by forensic scientists and crime lab technicians. To identify criminals and victims using trace evidence like hair or skin samples. To produce a DNAprofile, scientists compare sequences in the genome that vary from person to person. The typical steps in DNA profilingare DNA samples are isolated from the crimescene, suspect, victims, or other evidence. The next selected sequences from each DNA sample are amplified (copied many times) to produce a large sample of DNA fragments. Finally the amplified DNA regions are compared using a gel. All together, these steps provide data about which samples are from the same individual and which sample is unique. DNA profiling can also be used to compare the DNA of a mother, her child, and the purported father can settle a question of paternity. The purpose of this study is to expose the process of mass incarceration of poor black males, and females increasingly, within the context of a fabricated war on drugs which really is serving to keep the prison population booming by exploiting traditionally disadvantaged minorities in society. Alexander rightfully calls this a ?redesign? of the old racial caste system in America which was supposed to have been destroyed by the civil rights movement. The war on drugs in the 80s merely became the newest vehicle by which to exploit the black community in this country. The War on Drugs is really the rationale for racial control, which targets black men and women and relegates millions of citizens to what Alexander calls a ?second class status (Alexander, 2012).? This is written as if not a call to action, then a call to galvanize. The purposes of this report is to enable readers to through empirical and contextual description see the war on drugs for what is really is: a public relations ploy whose end results are not fighting drugs, but

An internship is a platform to provide real world involvement of students in a field or occupation. Classroom lectures that involved lessons and exercises on the social work profession were meaningful to me as a student. They brought insight into policies, laws, research, and methods that I will need to utilize in the social workprofession. My field internship at Urban Ministries of Durham (UMD) provides me the opportunity to connect the classroom lectures and real world involvement in the social work occupation. More so, to discuss the entirety of the connection between my classroom lectures and my internship would be lengthy and difficult to accomplish. However, I will discuss the aspects that were instantly noticeable that would be difficult to notice without the classroom lectures on the social worker occupation. For instance, one thing I learned about social work, I learned from my Intervention Method in the Helping Profession class. In the class taught by Dr. Hodges, I learned about client empowerment. In the book assigned to the class client empowerment is defined as to enhance the capacity, or power, of clients to address their life concerns (Walsh, 2009, p.16). I interpret this concept as a social worker that we are to develop a positive sense self worth and competence about their life. I observed in my field placement at UMD by addressing
  • 15. The Wrongful Convictions Of Innocent Men And Women We hear in the news about police misconduct, use of excessive force, embezzlement, but one thing I found while researching what I should write this paper on is the Wrongful convictions of innocent men and women, that spend years in prison being innocent, and there is nothing that gets done till it s too late. Some wrongful convictions are honest mistakes, but many times law enforcement and prosecutors lose sight of the obligation of ensuring truth and justice, and are focused on their convictionrates. As with any job, they are honest people and ones that just don t care and are corrupt, this exists in the criminal justice system. One way to prove someone is innocent now is through DNA testing, but even at all levels of a criminal investigation there could be misconduct or mishandling of evidence, which then causes the evidence to become compromised. One thing I notice is a lot of the misconduct is by the arresting officers or detectives that are investigating the crime. The ways an office can have misconduct that could lead to false convictions, include suggestions when conducting interviews, coercing false confessions, lying to jurors about observations, failing to turn over evidence. Common forms of misconduct by a prosecutor can include, withhold evidence from defense, mishandling, mistreating or destroying evidence, allowing witnesses that they know are not truthful to testify, Pressing Witnesses of the defense to not testify, relying on fraudulent forensic experts.

  • 18. Complications Of Functional Perception Patterns In The... Introduction The ability to generate category related representations for a limitless collection of visual contents is a vital function of human brain (Chao et al., 1999). It is demonstrated that widely distributed neural networks are engaged in the distinction of semantic categories, such as the ventral temporal cortex, which plays a significant role in face and object recognition (Chao et al., 1999; Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; O toole et al., 2005). Accumulating evidence has suggested that differential neural response patterns in human brain are closely associated with specific categories of visual stimuli (Haxby et al., 2000; Haxby et al., 2001; Kanwisher et al., 1997). However, it remains unclear how the functional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using multi voxel pattern analysis (MVPA), they found that the neural representations of face and objects can be discriminated not only by activation patterns within the specific cortical regions that maximally respond to one category, but can also be identified according to the patterns of nonmaximal responses (Haxby et al., 2001), which provided us with novel insights into the neural mechanism underlying the decoding of semantic categories. While the MVPA method adopted in this study well characterized the features of the response patterns associated with the semantic categories, it was computationally heavy. Also, it remained an open question whether a simpler method univariate analysis will provide sufficient evidence indicating the category specificity of the distributed neural representations in human brain. Therefore, in the current study, I applied a straightforward univariate analysis on the original data of Haxby et al. s (2001) experiment to further investigate the neural response patterns evoked by face and object stimuli. More specifically, I examined whether the category related information was revealed by the patterns of response across the whole brain space, and the activation in the functional localizer fusiform face area resulted from face stimuli. Continuing downward on the statue to the sash there is also a natural, curved line that goes upward towards the thin waistline. This shows a feminine quality that men should not have. On the clothing, there is an implied overlapping with the pieces of cloth in the front shown by the layering effect. Also, on the clothing there are implied lines that seem to curve around the statue. They all seem to be drawn to an unseen focal point near the top of the sash, creating movement. This implies that the clothing is wrinkled giving it a different texture then the rest of the statue which is smooth. It also emphasizes the feminine curve to his body. Oral Mucosa At The Macroscopic Level The oral mucosa is a specialized tissue lining the oral cavity and consists of the following components: (1) the masticatory mucosa, which lines the gingiva and the hard palate; (2) the specialized mucosa covering the dorsum of the tongue; and (3) the lining mucosa which covers the reminder of the oral cavity [201, 202]. The gingivais considered an adaptation of the oral masticatory mucosa covering the alveolar bone and surrounding the cervical portions of teeth. The gingiva protects the roots of teeth, and underlying alveolar bone from mechanical trauma and serves as the first line of defence against bacteria by preventing it from reaching the deeper structures [201, 203]. The gingiva can be demarcated into several zones at the macroscopic (as perceived by the unaided eye) and the microscopic levels according to anatomy or/ and function. 2.3.1.2.1Oral mucosa at the macroscopic level The normal healthy appearance of the gingiva is coral pink with a scalloped coronal border known as the free gingival margin. He attended both sessions of Congress, from 1837 to 1838 and another one in 1842 to 1843. During the last day of the session, which was March 3, 1843, he spent the whole day and part of the evening in the Senate chamber, anxiously watching the progress of the passing of the various bills (Morse) to watch the bill get passed, he was awarded $30,000 to set up the very first telegraph machine from Washington to Baltimore. His first telegraph machine was made from household instruments that consisted of an old picture or canvas frame fastened to a table; the wheels of an old wooden clock [...] and a short circuit of a wire, embracing the helices of the electro magnet connected with the positive and negative poles of the battery and terminating the mercury cups (Morse). • 28. Analysis Of The Chase Annie Dillard All good things must come to an end. A common phrase we have become accustomed to hearing, and a phrase that parallels the meaning of Annie Dillard s The Chase , an excerpt from her autobiography An American Childhood. In The Chase (1987), Annie Dillard recounts how childhood, no matter how enjoyable, will come to a close. Dillard conveys this by carefully detailing her childhood experience as a tomboy and that nothing girls did could not compare (1). Her experience during the chase symbolized an end of Dillard s childhood and wishing for the glory to last forever (19). The author recounts her story of the chase in order to express exuberance and love for childhood compared to the fact of mandatory growing old. The author addresses the audience in this narrative chapter of An American Childhood to express how short childhood is is this passing craze of life. The author uses expertly composed imagery, parallelism, diction and tone to create the impactful story in a chapter of her autobiography. The use of imagery builds the story and expresses how important Dillard s childhood was in shaping the women she has become today . The excerpt begins with a reflection upon her childhood and growing up a tomboy. Dillard set the stage for the chase by explaining the day as cloudy but cold (5) with cars lining the snow covered street. Imagery is used not only to set the stage for the day of the chase but it is also used to describe the man chasing them as a city man dressed in a suit and tie, street shoes (10). Using imagery to describe the man s appearance helps the reader to understand how unusual the man s appearance was and that the man was chasing them through the city. Dillard builds the suspense of the chase by taking the reader through the motions, past a ...yellow house...under a low tree, up a bank, through a hedge... (12), she builds an image in our minds of the neighborhood. The imagery is used to build up the scene, convey suspense and create emotions for the reader. Dillard chose to use diction, or word choice, to accent the two different aspects of the story. One aspect of the author s word choice was to portray her young, seven year old personality. She chose to use a simple words
  • 29. Charles Dickens Oliver Twist, And The Parish Boy s... Many critics today consider Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, or, The Parish Boy s Progress, as being a commentary of both society s treatment and view of the lower class in the 19th century. In the early 1800 s a Poor Law was put in place, saying that each parish was required to care for their poor within the area. Many viewed this as the lower class being lazy and lacking ambition. Dickens uses irony to comment on the society s belief that the lower class were fated to remain in that manner. The use of irony occurs throughout the novel, becoming present in the beginning of the story when Oliver s mother is in labour. Upon his birth Oliver is described as being unequally poised amid this world and the next (1). In this passage Dickens juxtaposes Oliver between living the life he has just been born into, and death, assuming to be reincarnated and born into the next , presumably better, life. He then furthers this contrast by comparing the situation Oliver found himself in, being birthed by a woman who was rendered rather misty and a parish surgeon who he notes worked by contract (1). The alliteration used in the former brings emphasis to the company Oliver is in during such a crucial time, with a woman who is drunk and a surgeon who is there as he has no other choice. The author again juxtaposes Oliver s lonesome and melancholic situation to the ideal situation of childbirth, with careful grandmothers, anxious aunts, experienced nurses, and doctors of profound
  • 30. Jesus Christ Died On The Cross For Our Sins As believers, we are constantly reminded that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. His death and his resurrection are fundamental to our Christian faith. Without his death, the relationship between God and His creation would have remained broken. Unfortunately, many believers do not take the time to consider the complex and deep meaning of Jesusdeath. If I have learned one concept throughout this class is that if I do not have a personal comprehension of Jesus death, I will never be saved. His death signifies salvation. It motivates us to imitate Jesus life as he was completely human and never sinned, yet he died on the cross in the cruelest way. Personally, Jesus death means love, reconciliation, redemption, and victory. When Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree, sin entered the world and that which was once good became corrupted. From that moment, we were separated from God. Yet because we were made in His image and He love us so much, He gave up his one and only son to die on the cross for our sins. One of God s attributes is His benevolence, which means that He loves and cares about all His creation. He is also merciful, which means that He is very compassionate and tender hearted towards us. I mention these specific attributes to emphasize the fact that these attributes were also present in the person of Christ. Jesus said, He who has seen me has seen the Father (John 14:9), meaning that if we want to personally know the love, the holiness, the power

In Genesis, God floods the world in the pursuit of justice/regret, while the god in Atrahasis is angry for a less significant offense.
