Good Leadership Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Good Leadership" poses a unique set of challenges. Firstly,
defining the parameters of what constitutes good leadership is a task that requires careful
consideration. Leadership is a multifaceted concept, encompassing qualities such as
communication skills, empathy, decisiveness, and strategic thinking. Attempting to encapsulate
these varied facets within the confines of an essay demands a nuanced understanding of the
topic.
Moreover, the landscape of leadership is dynamic, evolving with societal changes and contextual
shifts. This necessitates a comprehensive exploration of historical and contemporary examples to
illustrate the fluid nature of effective leadership. Analyzing case studies and drawing parallels
between different leadership styles adds layers of complexity to the essay, requiring in-depth
research and critical thinking.
Structuring the essay is another formidable challenge. Balancing theoretical frameworks,
practical examples, and personal insights, while maintaining a coherent narrative, demands a
strategic approach. A well-crafted introduction that captures the reader's attention, followed by a
clear thesis statement, sets the stage for the essay. Developing a logical flow of ideas, supported
by evidence and analysis, is crucial to conveying a compelling argument.
Furthermore, incorporating a personal touch can elevate the essay, but striking the right balance
between objectivity and subjectivity is a delicate task. Sharing anecdotes or experiences without
losing the academic rigor of the essay requires finesse in writing.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of good leadership requires a blend of research,
critical thinking, and effective communication. The challenge lies not only in defining the elusive
qualities of good leadership but also in presenting a cohesive and engaging narrative that
resonates with the reader. Success in this endeavor hinges on the ability to navigate the
complexities of leadership theory and practice while maintaining clarity and depth.

Explain Why Pope Urban Ll Called for a Crusade Essay
In 1095, at the Council of Clermont, Pope Urban ll made a powerful and well
planned speech. His message was clear and precise, go to the holy land in
Jerusalem and claim back what is rightfully yours or die trying, and in return
remission of all your sins with the assurance of the imperishable glory of the
kingdom of heaven . He was addressing Christians from all over France calling for a
Crusade in the name of God and as many would argue, abusing his authority and
status he received from the Catholic Church. What occurred during the First Crusade
is well known to many, whereas the reason behind PopeUrban ll calling the Crusade
is a highly debated and contradicting issue.
One of the reasons which are occasionally cited for Urban s ... Show more content on

Finally, an additional reason for Urban s calling for a so called Crusade was that he
felt the lands of Christ needed to be reclaimed and in the control of Christianity not in
the hands of infidels . Jerusalem is at the centre of the Christian faith and is the
religions birth place. It is the land in which Jesus was crucified and then, as
Christians believe, bought back to life in a miracle event. Urban said in his
speech, wrest that land from the wicked race, that land which the scripture says
floweth with milk and honey and was given by god to the children of Israel . By
these few words we can understand why Urban felt so strongly that it the land of
Christians and why he ordered for it to be reclaimed, even if it mean death. At the
time of Urban s speech Jerusalam was under the rule of Muslim, who also have a
strong attachment with the land as it is the place where the holy prophet descended
to heaven. Urban however believed that it belonged to the Christians and therefore
ordered it to be reclaimed in the name of god .
Pope Urban ll called for a Crusade at the Council of Clermont to claim back what he
believed rightfully belonged to the Christians and unite the Catholic and Greek
Orthodox churches. Through the cover of Alexins plea for help

Interview with Film Composer Chris Hajian of The Infiltrator
Pablo Escobar has been a popular topic lately. From Narcos on Netflix to Andrea s
Di Stefano s underrated Escobar Paradise Lost, cocaine and greed can t get anymore
bombastic in the entertainment zeitgeist. Yet with director Brad Furman s (The
Lincoln Lawyer), The Infiltrator, the infamous Columbian drug load plays only
second to agent Robert Mazur (played wonderfully by Bryan Cranston), the man
who brings down the world s largest cartel. It s a refreshing angle on the subject
matter with stellar performances (most notably John Leguizamo s radically different
and award worthy role) to match. Yet, one of the biggest highlights of the filmis that
of film composer Chris Hajian s (First Position, Yonkers Joe, The Take) score. Hajian
manages to keep the film s music subtle, but with gravitas to capture the heaviness
of the situation at bay. It plays to the trend of synth percussion, a popular sensation
seen everywhere from Cliff Martinez s score in Drive to Kyle Dixon and Michael
Stein of Stranger Things. Sure it plays to the trend, but doesn t get lost in it. Hijian
has the ear to work with modern sound, but keeps disciplined by incorporating
instrumental sounds that grounds the film, but at the same time keeps it constantly
moving. Check out track I m Being Followed, to hear the complexity of modern
synth, layered with piano. Recently I got the chance to sit down and interview Chris

I find this piece to be very mysterious. Why does the head become narrow at the
top? The face seems to be of an older woman, as shown by the wrinkles indented
within the sides of the nose and the mouth, although they are not as prevalent as
the one of NYC. There s a soft jaw line of a woman. What is interesting to me is the
indented/concave region of the eyes. Instead of forming an extruding eye with a
pupil, the sculptor chose to extract the material to form the eye, unlike the piece
we saw of Abu, with eyes stamped with bitumen tar. The lips are very well
sculpted, and textured well. It seems like it would mean a lot to a Pharaoh who
has lost his mother, or who hopes to forever remember his family. To see the
portrait of his family along with himself would ve made him feel happy and in the
presence of his family. I feel this way much of the time when seeing photos of lost
family members with me beside them within the photos. It s like an everlasting
memory of that person and being with them in the memory. The reign of Amenophis

This can affect the American Airlines company in the competitive airlineindustry
because if some foreign governments deny the rights to U.S. air carriers to carry

Intellectualization, is a defence mechanism of protecting ourselves from anxiety, by
blocking our emotions connected with something we cannot confront. An
Uncomfortable emotion we cannot deal with at the time. Sometimes we use excessive
behaviour to avoid accepting it and reasoning is used to block out confrontations.
This could mean also removing ourselves emotionally from what has happened.
I used this defence mechanism when my Nan died, I couldn t face that, one of the
most important people in my life had gone. Even at her funeral I refused to believe
that it was her body in the Coffin. I did everything not to face it, it is a defence
mechanism where I had to use reasoning to block out the confrontation, be it an
unconscious conflict but I couldn t deal with these feelings at that time so. I had to
remove myself emotionally, completely ignored as if to be irrelevant. ( 150 Words )

the fact that ESL implies that one language can be learnt at one time. This is not
true, when one can study different field studies than it is also possible to learn
multiple languages at a time. However, it might be difficult to learn multiple
languages at time. The case is different for English. English is much easier as
compared with many other difficult international languages. These readings are very
good to analyze and it is apparent that author has done much hard work to gather this

Summary
In the article call for the change , Kathleen Schenck is discussing the change,
which is needed in the acronyms terms, which are using to teach of English
language. Schenck reinforces her idea with an example of ESL (English as
Secondary languages) for the openers. She says, For openers the term (ESL) is
inaccurate i.e. the person may already have other languages as second, third and so
own. Schenck explains her view in way A Swiss nation may know Italian, German,
French and even Romansch before attempting English . On the other hand Schenck
demonstrate another concern with the word second is that it gives a message to the
learner that he will always considered English as a second language i.e. he can never
acquire native fluency. This could be disheartened for the learner and this fact will
always resist him to understand the accent of natives. While describing the rules of
linguistic schenck says, linguistic is no one dialect trumps another then she explains
her idea by referring the phrase beauty is in the eye likewise the appropriate sound
is that which is appropriate for the beholder i.e. beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
It is possible that a sound, which is sweet for a person, will be its dreadful for the
other. Overall Schenck enlighten that terms which are used to teach English, should
be change and modify by focusing the learners and understanding their requirement of
learning English

This is through consideration of the object photographed; the method of lighting,
technical parameters and the representation that the photographer wishes to portray.
The connotation is how something is photographed, while the denotation is what is
photographed. What is important in this scenario is that the essence of the picture is
manipulated by one or more of these external factors. It may be argued that the art of
photography itself is not organic, but merely the careful manipulation of external
elements, constructed by the artist. However, Barthes does not consider photography
as an analogue, a puerile denoted message, yet ironically that is how most people
instinctively see. Objects photographed (denoted) for non artistic pictures such as
documentaries are perceived by the viewer as portraying characteristics of the truth,
rather than being used as stylistic mediums. According to Barthes, in the case of
traumatic images where tragic events are depicted, even those that have long passed
still have the ability to evoke emotion. In other words, cause the suspension of the
connotation process. Other pictures are subject to both processes, though the
structure of visual expression can be heard independent independently;
comprehensive and exhaustive. Barthes does not deny that the essence of the
connotation is not in this case in the transmission, but is related to other factors.

Hopi Indian Perspectives
The Hopi peoples continue to thrive and preserve their culture for as long as
humans have been known to inhabit this Earth. As Jake and Susanne Page
maintain, they are not only the oldest dwellers in this land but are considered by
most other Native Americans to have a wisdom, a knowledge of things, beyond
average comprehension (1994:19). This wisdom comes from a deep connection to
all things natural and of this Earth. The Hopis have always relied on nature to guide
them spiritually, philosophically, as well as physically. They rely on word of mouth
to pass down beliefs and teach values to each new generation so that the
Hopivotskwani the Hopipath of life may continue on. (Parezo 1996:237) Through the

Hopis recognize that their thoughts, prayers, wishes, and feelings affect the balance
of the world around them; therefore simply keeping a positive outlook may be all
the difference needed to keep crops prosperous. (Ferrero 1983) Seen as the future
of the Hopi clan, the Kachinas inspire life on Earth and thereafter. The Hopis
understand that through their hard work, dedication, and faith they are preparing
for the future of their people. Another important part of the Hopi culture, is the
idea that time is circular and ongoing. Hopis emerged from the spirit world to take
on their role in life as part of nature. They believe that their connection with the
land, animals, and spirits is a part of their Hopivotskowani. Therefore, they respect
the natural and cyclical tendency of life. Just as the seasons of the year bring life
and death to many plants and animals, the Hopi people accept life and death as part
of the human existence. While alive, a Hopi must do his/her part to learn about the
culture and how to do things the Hopi way , in order to prepare one s self for the
spirit world. (Ferrero 1983) Then, as one enters the spiritual world, his/her spirit
becomes a force of life giving nature and serves as a guide for young Hopis. The
circular motion of time allows the Hopis to accept occurrences as part of a larger
plan than one can see for one s self.
The Hopi people are extremely passionate about their cultural
Research Paper On Sumatran Tigers
Sumatran tigers are one of the smallest subspecies of the tiger family, with an
estimated 500 600 left in the wild. However, the actual count is most likely fewer
than 400 tigers. In 1978, a census was taken of the Sumatran tigers. It stated that there
were about 1,000 tigers in the wild. In the last 25 years, the Sumatran tigerpopulation
has been cut in half. Their species is considered critically endangered, and their
numbers are still going down. Their endangerment would mean that their ecosystem
would crumble without them.
They are very small in size compared to other tigers, as they weigh only about 170
pounds to 330 pounds. Because Sumatran tigers are so small, they are able to
move through denser areas of forests to catch their prey. Some experts believe the
reason they re so small is because of limited space in their natural habitat. Their
tiny size also comes the size of their prey, which is smaller than most other species
of tigers, like wild boars compared to water buffalo. They are mostly orange in color,
but they have white on their underside and black stripes. The stripes on a Sumatran
tiger are packed closer together than other tiger species. These close stripes help

Argumentative Essay On Hybridization
Seeing that hybridization is such a controversial issue it can be hard to pick a side,
and it generally comes down to how you look at it. Seeing that we look at
hybridization on a case to case basis can seem like a hard task, so that s why we
have to choose a side. I however am against hybridization for the sole reason that
these hybrids are taking over native species and creating generations and generations
of hybrids. As well as leading to the extinctionof rare species and populations, which
then leads to the loss of genetic diversity. Yes, in some cases, hybridization can be
a good thing, but most of the time it is only considered a good thing due to the fact
that it is for our own selfish needs. Just because you can interbreed doesn t mean
you should. For instance, hybrids are either causing issues now or they will
eventually become an issue over time. As a result, we are main cause of
hybridization, and we are ones introducing the two species or populations that are
creating these threatening hybrids. I believe we must become aware of the damage
these hybrids are causing for themselves, natives species or populations, and the
ecosystem and take action to stop this from occurring.
Provided that, the movement of people has resulted in the invasions of exotic plants,
animals, and microorganisms that are introduced to the native species and
populations. People transporting this species unwillingly or it is due to the fact that
people are affecting their habitats through

Personal Definition of Nursing
The definition of nursing has many different meanings depending on whom you ask.
To some a nurse is simply the person who brings you your medication and takes
your vital signs. To others, including myself, it is someone who keeps you safe and
watches over you while you are in a healthcare setting. A nurse along side a physician
with the patients best interest in mind to care for them not only physically but
emotionally and mentally. A nurse must have the knowledge of that exact medication

I ve seen many families complain about this while working in the Emergency
Department. I think there is a time and place for this and it is not at the nurse s
station, we have a lounge for catching up and making plans. I think that dressing in
a professional manner also shows our patients that we believe that being a nurse is
more than merely just a job. I worked full time at a job to pay my way through
nursing school so I could have a career. I want my patients to know that I take my
license seriously and provide them with the best care I possibly can.
Practice Examples that Support Nursing Values Over the last eight years of my
nursing career I have had the opportunity to care for patients of all ages, ethnicities,
and degrees of illnesses. Compassion is a very important nursing value. I cared for
a young mother who at the age of 22 had to experience delivering a baby that she
would not be able to take home with her. I sat in her room and held her hand while
she cried, screamed and tried to make sense of the tragedy. Sometimes the best
words are the unspoken ones. On another occasion I had the opportunity to care for
an elderly patient whos family lived far from the hospital. She had reached the end of
her life, and she was okay with that. Her only request was not be alone when she
took her last breath. She was very weak, but able to thank me over and over for
being with her. What an honor it was to share that experience. Life
Semiotics In Politics Essay
We are a society that thrives upon communication, from texting to tweeting and all
forms in between. It is not surprising that we often find ourselves drawn in and
influenced by the manipulative skills of well organized syllables and strong
punctuation. Political rallies are in no shortage of examples of the prowess of
semiotics. We use them to speak our minds, to spread the truth, to satirize other s
opinions, and to fabricate our own. As human beings we are not unused to the idea
that politics often involves tricky rhetoric and verbal wordplay in efforts to persuade
us. However, not often are we aware that tangible signs sway us to much the same
effect. Political signs first and foremost seek to influence a decision, or ideals that...

Semiotics influences signs by modifying the way we see them when certain aspects
are changed or enhanced to convey or evoke certain meanings or feelings, when
words are italicized or bolded our eyes immediately focus more on them than the
other words, when messages are presented to us in strange or noticeable fonts we are
drawn to them, they stick in our minds, they make a certain impact. As Ferdinand de
Saussure stated and is quoted on a University of Vermont educational website, All
signs have two aspects: the signifier and the signified. The signifier is any material
thing that signifies, e.g., words on a page, a facial expression, a picture, a bit of
graffiti. The signified is the concept that a signifier refers to. In most cases the
signified is in relation to the signifier in order to ensure the signified is able to
relate to it s signifier. I/e, men smoking looking as though they are enjoying
themselves, the signifier is the man smoking the cigarette, and the man, and the
cigarette, seeking to signify men or masculinity (Saussure p.2). The same is applied
to political signs, in relation the creator of the sign seeks to put emphasis on
something that they wish the audience to connect the main idea of their sign too.
For example at The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, many protestors utilize
symbols in order to connect their beliefs or ideas to a grander concept. In one
protestors sign, a
Essay on Liberalism and Conservatism
Liberalism and Conservatism Liberalism and conservatism have been political ideas
and thoughts from the very birth of our democracy. Their views and points of the
government s role in a democratic society have changed over the years, but the basic
ideas and principles have remained the same. There are many different degrees of
liberalism and conservatismas almost anyone can be labeled. Some individuals are
radical and extreme while others stand on more of a neutral territory, but the debates
between the understood ideas of each group have continued throughout the history of
the United States. We will take liberalism s Gary Doore and conservatism s Irving

Overall, the common conservative consensus is that religious ideals should replace
big business like government and the spending that comes with it. (20 21) Liberty,
rights, justice and equality are ideals liberalists such as Gary Doore view as the most
important aspects in the democracy of America (24). They also feel America has
recently drawn away from these ideals and is therefore not as democratic as it once
was or can be in the future. Doore believes there is especially room for
democratization in the workplace (28). In fact, he points out that it is the lack of
freedom of expression and the restrictive environment of the workplace that has led
to this situation. More ideas and innovations would come from corporations if they
would allow more freedom to its employees. Not only would workers benefit, but the
company they work for would also. (28) Another cause for the break down of
democracy in America stems from the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George
Bush (Doore 26). Because of the Cold War era and the insecurities it brought to the
American people, the administrations thought it was necessary to tighten down and
take control. To do this they called for more powers to the executive branch. As a
result, Doore and other liberals began to see more of an authoritarian government
take shape, and the term imperial presidency was created. The situations went as far
as banning newspapers and magazines from
Persuasive Essay On Lack Of Education
America under our Constitution gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit
of happiness. We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael
Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among
education. However, kids gradually lose hope, their learning potential crumbles ,
fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly slip away. Savage
inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that we
have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv ,
reading articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is
given the same opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few
are paying attention to these poor disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not provide
access to the American Dream because of the lack of education and opportunities,
kids are constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that all students have
the opportunity to go to school, but some kids have to deal with major
disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds, and smells of ghetto schools.
James Baldwin once quoted not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing
can be changed until it is faced .Those living in la la land that thinks that everyone
has the same opportunities needs to wake up. This is not playtime, there are boys
and girls who are struggling for basic needs. Right here in America their are kids in:
East St. Louis, Camden New Jersey, Washington D.C., Bronx New York, San Antonio
Texas, Cincinnati Ohio, southside Chicago, Detroit Michigan, and Alabama who are
not given the equal chances to rise in the world. These kids are faced with but not
limited to poverty, lack of education, crime, dilapidated housing, insufficient
healthcare, hunger and unemployment. East St. Louis the most distressed city in
America , the bottom 98% of the population is black. Вѕ live below poverty level and
make less than $7,500 a year. According to Savage Inequalities, a mother says, it s a
terrible way to live (13). The city was so poor it had to lay off 1,170 of its workforce

A Girl Fell Off The Fourteenth Floor !
A girl fell off the fourteenth floor! was the response I got when I inquired about the
multiple ambulances outside my dorm at the beginning of sophomore year. The
truth of what happened was much more unsettling. Instead of an accident, the girl,
Jenny, had actually jumped from her dorm window, leaving behind a note saying
ending her life was the only way she saw to stopping her pain. I had known Jenny
briefly when she was my Orientation Leader. By all accounts she was a cheerful girl
who lights up any room she enters. Her friends and family all expressed shock and
disbelief there was no warning, no signs at all she was struggling or suffering. In
midst of an outpouring of empathy from the studentbody, many students admitted that
they also had suicidal thoughts, but likewise would never ask for help. Growing up
as an Asian American, I was all too familiar with the stigma associated with mental
illness. In high school, I watched my best friend resorting to self harming when the
pressure of college application became too much to handle. When she tried to tell
her first generation immigrant parents about her depression, they merely told her
depression is not real. Their biggest concern about her cutting was that no one
should find out. Even educated parents like mine do not view depression as a real
illness the same way they view diabetes or cancer. Having watched many friends
struggle with mental illness, I have always wanted to make counseling more
accessible to all.

Forgiveness Is The Act Of Pardoning A Person
Forgiveness is the act of pardoning a person(s) of an offense and ceasing to feel
resentment towards them. It can be argued that the day the act of forgiveness was
introduced to mankind, was when Adam and Eve first sinned in the Garden of Eden.
Although it is not written in the Bible that Adam and Eve repented from their sins,
sought forgiveness, studying the Book of Genesis further, it can be assumed that the
action of forgiveness occurred because Cain and Abel (Adam and Eve s sons) both
made sacrifices to the Lord. The practice of sacrifice was done in thanksgiving and
for the remission of sinor forgiveness, which would have been taught to them by
their parents. God provided a way to seek forgiveness in the bloodshed of an animal.
Beginning with the animals, God, himself, killed to provide the first garment to
Adam and Eve to clothe their nakedness; thus, symbolizing the covering of their sin,
as can be read in Genesis 3:21. Recognizing that the blood shed of an animal would

Stereotypes In Fruitvale Station
Fruitvale Station, directed by Ryan Cooger, released on July 12, 2013, consists of
moments where stereotypes were shown. Although movies have portrayed black
men as non working, Fruitvale Station exploits the stereotype that black men do
not like work through the use of camera shots. Ryan Cooger s Dolly out shot
moving away from Oscar (subject) and following Emi (store owner) represents a
change in power economically. The way Emi is positioned makes Emi seem more
valuable than Oscar and this position makes him seem like he is lazy. Additionally,
Oscar is seen as a shadow through the shot. Therefore, symbolizing characteristics
that black men display when they do not like to work. Secondly, the camera is more
focused on Emi than Oscar,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The change in unemployment rate decreased by 1.1 percent. This adjustment does
not correlate with how the movie depicts black males. Notably, the movie contradicts
with the June 2015 statistics because it shows the decline of black males being
unemployed. However, In June 2014, the unemployment rate would comply with the
movie considering almost 25 percent of African Americanmales are unemployed.
After all, black men 20 and over in June 2014 employed (16,885) rose 61.6 percent
in June 2015. The number of black male workers in the Civilian labor force in June
2014(8,674) rose 35.4 percent. This data inexplicably disagrees with Ryan Cooger
s notion of black males. What s more, the preconceived notions seem to be
inaccurate following the statistics. Ryan Cooger attempts to describe black males in
the inner city as workless because of the notions social media filled America s
viewers with. Hence, the amount of people who are not in the labor force in June
2014(11,829) rose 18.7 percent in June 2015. As a result the number of people
incarcerated (particularly African American men) rose throughout the year. Needless

strong words that saved Wilbur s life. It is also noticed that

Western Operas Depict Inaccurate Facts about the Orients
In this essay, I am going to discuss and make a stand that western operas depict
inaccurate facts about the orients. In order to substantiate my stand, I will also look
into some of the western operas that are based on the orient. There are many
definitions of Orientalism. Some examples are as followed. According to the
oxforddictionaries.com, Orientalism is Style, artifacts, or traits considered
characteristic of the peoples and cultures of Asia. (Oxford University Press 2014)
Edwards Said, author of the book Orientalism defines Orientalism as a corporate
institution for dealing with the Orient , dealing with it by making statements about it,
authorizing views of it, describing it, by teaching it, settling it, ruling over it: in short,
Orientalism as a Western style for dominating, restructuring, and having authority
over the Orient. (Locke 1993, under Reflections on Orientalism in Opera) From the
definitions available, it can concluded that the word orient in the term of Orientalism
is referring to either the Islamic Middle East (e.g. North Africa, Turkey, Arabia,
Persia), or East and South Asia (the Far East , e.g. India, Indochina, China, Japan).
Orientalism has been part of western arts for a long time. Orientalism in Music
occurred since the late Renaissance. This can be seen by a widely performed dance
during that period, called the Moresca, which was associated with the Moors of
North Africa and was often performed with dark skin makeup and with
The Health Promotion And Behavior Change
Like never before have there been so many demands or efforts on those in health care
to facilitate behavior changes, or so many potential strategies from which to choose
from. Health care professionals now realize that multiple interventions at multiple
levels are often needed to initiate and sustain behavior change in their patients, in
their community, in their family and ultimately in their own lives. Behavior change
is our best hope in reducing problems such as preventable diseases, chronic illnesses,
healthdisparities, violence, and death around the world. In this Age of Information,
where society has shifted to an economy based on information computerization,
gamification has become a prevalent force in promoting such changes.
Although gamification is a new term for me, it is apparent, through my research that
it has become a recent topic in health promotion and behavior change Gamification is
a broad umbrella term used to encompass the process of using gaming elements to
motivate and engage people in non game contexts (King, Greaves, Exeter, and Darzi,
2013). It includes the application of gaming mechanics and thinking to change
behavior and can turn the monotonous or ordinary way of doing an activity such as
exercising or healthy eating into a more engaging experience by providing rewards,
encouraging prompts and competition between other players. Consequently, better
health behavior saves money, approximately $2.5 trillion to be exact, cutting costs in

Abraham Lincoln s Greatest Speech
Lincoln s Greatest Speech Abraham Lincoln s first inaugural address was given
during a time of crisis. The Southern states feared their newly elected President
would soon take their way of life from them, and they would do everything to stop
it. The South threatened secession and began electing their own leaders and creating
a new constitution. Knowing this would certainly lead to war, in his address Lincoln
said, We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies (Lincoln). Lincoln
knew that war would tear the country apart, and he wanted to prevent that. As he
prepared to give the speech, he kept quiet, but others turned around his silence. Many
said he was the reason the Union was divided. In preparing for his speech he knew...

He continues and says, ...we denounce the lawless invasion by armed force of the
soil of any State or Territory, no matter under what pretext, as among the gravest of
crimes (Lincoln). Lincoln takes a firm stance against any form of invasion.
Obviously trying to prevent war, Lincoln denounces any form of invasion,
regardless of the crimes committed. Despite his best efforts, history tells us that the
speech failed at preventing the South from seceding and the civil war from
beginning. However, that does not fall on Lincoln and his speech. At this point the
South seemed to have already made up their minds on leaving the union to form the
Confederacy. There is a very good chance that no matter what he said in his speech,
it was destined to fail. Next, although Lincoln s speech did not prevent war, it did
show his education and skill as a writer and speaker. It is obvious that even before
Abraham Lincoln became President he was a very educated man; however, this
speech shows just how true that is. Lincoln shows just how educated he is by
showing how knowledgeable he is on American History. In an attempt to show that
the Union is never ending Lincoln writes, Descending from these general principles,
we find the proposition that, in legal contemplation, the Union is perpetual,
confirmed by the history of the Union itself. The Union is much older than the
Constitution. It was formed, in fact, by the

Depending on the success of the solution and the number of areas for improvement

Once a satisfied solution is found that will outweigh the cost of benefits achieved by

Rana Plaza Collapse
This article addresses how working conditions of garment workers in global South
have merely changed after Rana Plaza collapse in 2013 and struggles on
implementing corrective action plans in factories due to companies apathetic actions
towards this approach. This collapse is widely known as killing thousands of people
at Rana Plaza, an eight story factory located in Bangladesh s capital city that
consisted several factories manufacturing clothingfor multinational brands such as
Walmart and Joe Fresh. In the wake of this disaster, companies, trade unions, and
worker s rights group decided to make the buildings safer and improve working
conditions for employees in factories across Bangladesh, which meant adding

After this tragedy, executives faced with media that they would be in responsible for
undertaking costly repairs and renovations that are necessary to make these buildings
safe. Nevertheless, the concern of the Western world towards the collapse of Rana
Plaza has waned; it resulted in the regression in the conditions of the factory
environment.
The top priority of these companies is profits. Indeed, they put profits ahead of
people. However, companies fear the power of consumers and are highly dependent
on whether they should genuinely make a difference for working conditions of their
employees. Thus, the influence of public interest directly affects workers in
Bangladesh. Although the years passed by since the collapse of the Rana Plaza, the
article from The Guardian reports the current progress of making changes to protect
workers. This article offers insights and strong opinion on castigating the companies
supposed mishandling of the working environment and treatment of the employees
on the workers side. It assesses the lack of safety in the facilities, harshly low wage,
and the ineffectiveness of the new regulations. The author also included a short

aimed largely at the goal of deterrence, commonly explained within the framework
of economics. The other looks at tort law as a way of achieving corrective justice

unfriendly camps: much of the time each treats the other with neglect or even

Facility Placement
I). Airport maintenance facilities
The airport maintenance facilities contain hangar areas and involve public access as
well as supply of deliverables. Since these facilities are accessible to the public,
airport operator should coordinate security of these facilities to limit the chances of
any possible threat. Moreover, the products delivered through these facilities might
contain materials that might be useful in planting a security assault.
II). Aircraft movement area
By definition, aircraft movement encompasses areas such as runways, aircraft ramps,
and taxiways. These movement areas are completely airside and require specific
security measures as provided for by the law in addition to adhering to Federal
Aviation Regulations. The accessibility of the aircraft movement area by public or
individuals conducting specific duties makes such areas prone to security needs.
Largely, the airport operator might not assume that the intentions of persons
accessing these areas are not potential threat to the airport security.
III). Air rescue and fire fighting facilities
The air rescue and fire fighting facilities are critical to airport operation. While there
is need for preparedness in handling accidental fire or conducting air rescue just
incase incidences of similar nature occur, these facilities require adequate security
concerns. Moreover, the positioning of these facilities makes them potential for
security vulnerabilities. At times, the public
The Universal Truth In The First Death In Nova Scotia

truths that we have to face death. This poem was written about Bishops first
encounter with death, the death of her cousin Arthur. Her cousins real name was
Frank, Bishop used poetic licence and changed his name to Arthur to suit the fairytale
aspect of the poem. I felt that the fairytale aspect of the poem shows the child s
confusion at what has happened. The references to royalty, Edward,Prince Of Wales

whats happening, a need to distract herself from the awful reality. The universal truth
in this is that humans fear and are uncomfortable with deathand will go to any lengths

the same time, a great hero who could save the city. It had some entertaining
actions which won t lead the audience to be bored. Their all act naturally. They
have the facial expression that is right for the character they are portraying. The
plot have some great twists which we never knew would happen or would even
shock us like Adrian Toomes being revealed as Liz s father. These special effects
even made the movie more interesting and colorful. In terms of script, those were so
hilarious. They minimized saying foul words. They said the script clearly so that we

Major Historical Perspective On The Atonement Theory
There are seven major historical perspective on the Atonement; Ransom Theory,
Satisfaction Theory, Governmental Theory, Example Theory, Moral Influence
Theory, Christus Victor and Substitutionary atonement.
Ransom theory states that a commercial transaction took place in which Jesus death
was the price paid to ransom the human race from its bondage to sin. This can be
found in Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to
serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many .Gregory of Nyssa and Cyprian were
both proponents of this theory.
Satisfaction Theory states the death of Jesus on the cross satisfied the wounded honor
and majesty of God.Anselm was a proponent of the satisfaction theory.
Governmental Theory states the death of Jesus on the cross was an offering to God
necessary not to forgive sin but to restore the moral order of the universe. A
governmental theorist sites Isaiah 42:21 It pleased the LORD for the sake of his

Ski Helmet Research Paper
The ski helmet is a staple in safety equipment for all types of skiers. The ski helmet
has not always been what it is now. How did we get to where we are now? It all
started with the recognition of a problem. As ski technology became better and
skiers were able to go faster than ever before, injury rates went up. Many of these
injuries were head injuries. Coaches and athletes looked at other helmets to try and
brainstorm a solution to their problem. The bike helmetat the time was a big
influence on early skihelmets. These bike helmets were called, hairnets . The coaches
and athletes then made leather caps with padded straps to use as helmets. However,

Expanded polystyrene bead foam (ESP), more commonly knows as styrofoam,
was found to have useful shock absorbent qualities. Herman Roth then took this
newfound knowledge and formed a company called Toptex. Here he made ESP
helmets with a fiberglass cover. His helmets were tested at Snell Memorial
Foundation, and it only one that passed the new impact test. This is because the
styrofoam stayed crushed after impact, unlike other models that rebounded and
damaged the head further. The US ski team were one of the first ski teams to use
these helmets and received jeering from some of the international teams.
However, when Tommy Corcoran had a nasty fall on some ice, breaking the
protective shell in the process: and walked away without serious injury, the new
helmet was given respect. Still, there were problems with the design. The helmets
were big and bulky, causing many skiers to rebel and ski without it. So
manufacturers were forced to go back to the drawing board. In 1973 acrynitrile
butadiene styrene (ABS) technology was applied to a plastic shell of a helmet,
making it light and as strong as an auto bumper. This ABS shell cracked or crushed

Importance Of Cultural Awareness
Cultural Awareness is the ability to accept and recognize the different beliefs, values
and customs that people have based on their origins. Having this awareness is
extremely beneficial and important. There are several benefits involved with cultural
awareness. Cultural Awareness allows a person to build much more successful

This is important because it allows people to reach their at most potential in life. I

Some countries are living in poverty and some do not have the rights that we do as
Americans. I also value respect and make it a personal goal of mine to respect and
honor individuals, even if they may not respect me. My event for this paper was to
watch the movie: Hidden Figures. This movie displays the discrimination and
segregation that occurred in the 1960 s about African Americans and women. There
were three very intelligent women working for NASA, but because of the color of
their skin and their gender, it became very difficult to obtain the jobs and assignments
that they deserved. Hidden Figures highlights the important of cultural awareness by
showing that once these women were given a chance, they excelled beyond any
possible expectation.
In the movie, people s perspectives were affected by culture and experiences a lot.
During this period in the United States there was a lot of discrimination to women
and African Americans all together. This cultural divide made the employees at
NASA think that they could discriminate against the African American women
featured in the film. White employees at NASA looked down on these three women
and would not give them an equal chance. When people would look at these African
American women, they would have a scowled face as if they had done something
wrong, just by having brown skin. Eventually in Hidden Figures the president and
boss saw potential in one of the African American females. Once the potential was
The Doctrine Of The Faith
Mavrodes begins by stating the doctrine of the faith, which is that God is omnipotent
(capable of anything). There has been attempts to refute the omnipotence of God by
proposing things he cannot do. One example Mavrodes gives is the creation of a
square circle.
In paragraph two Mavrodes goes on to highlight the counterarguments to these
attempts by a St. Thomas. St. Thomas wanted to clarify that the anything that we
refer to when we talk about God s omnipotence should be, construed to refer only to
objects, actions, or states of affairs whose descriptions are not self contradictory.
Thomas goes on to say that only things whose nonexistence might plausibly be
attributed to a lack of power would fit under this category. Mavrodes ... Show more

Mavrodes now decides to state that despite this difference, the question of the stone
is open to the same solution as the problem of the square circle. The question of the
stone doesn t work because it depends on asking whether God can perform a self
contradictory thing. The answer that he cannot do such a thing does not damage God
s doctrine of omnipotence.
Either God s omnipotence is true, or he lacks such omnipotence. If we are to
assume that he is not omnipotent, the problem of a stone too heavy for God to lift
wouldn t contradict itself. If we say that God is able or unable to create such a stone,
his omnipotence may be in question. This too is no more than an assumption much
like the one we started with. Mavrodes then questions whether or not the assumption
of the omnipotence of God always leads to a reductio, when in fact, in may give us a
feasible answer.
When one assumes that God is omnipotent, a stone too heavy to lift then becomes
contradictory, as it then becomes what Mavrodes refers to as, a stone which
cannot be lifted by Him whose power is sufficient for lifting anything. The stone
this scenario describes contradicts itself and is entirely impossible, so we can
check it at the door when it comes to questioning God s omnipotence. Not being
capable of logical existence, it s failure to do so can t be due to a lack in the power of
God. It is the omnipotence of
Essay about An Invisible Shield
Every community has their own standards for the men, women and children. If a
child were to grow up in a white dominant, high class town like Poway, CA, they
would be expected to complete high school, go to college, get a well paid job and
then marry in their mid twenties. In The House on Mango Street, a Hispanic, second
class community expects their women to grow up, drop out of school, marry early to
escape their familyand depend on their husband. For a girl who grows up in that
kind of society, it will most likely become her fate. No matter what her dreams may

The Connection Theories And Why I Am My Friend s Dad
It was a Friday night with a clear dark sky and birds tweeting all around. I was

consecutively to inform, satirize, persuade or amuse the reader. These threads tend
to be about anything and everything and they ve become my favorite part of going

my spine writing about it. When I first read the theory, I googled it and learned the
basics.
So the day of the assignment it was the first thing that came to mind, and it made it
much easier that I can actually drive to the airport and uncover it myself. I hope you
re ready but here it goes. The Denver International Airport is deemed to be one of
the daunting places on earth. It s believed that the airport is a new world order

What Is The Biggest Battle In North America
Did you know the Battle of Gettysburg was the biggest battle ever fought in North
America? There were 160,000 men that fought in the battle. The Union Army was
led by Major General Gordon Meade and had had 85,000 men. The Confederate
Army was led by General Robert Lee had 75,000. men. The battle occurred the first
three days in July of 1863. After the Confederate Army won the Battle of
Chancellorsville in Virginia in May of 1863, General Lee decided to attack the
Union Armyin the North. This was his second attack in the North. General Lee led
the Confederate Army to the North to fight to pressure Abraham Lincoln to end the
war. If he could not win the war, then he wanted to form an alliance with England
and France. General Lee also wanted to move the battle away from Virginia during
the farmers growing season. To draw attention away from the ConfederateЕ›
movement to the North, a group of Confederate soldiers led by Jeb Stuart raided
Union supply trains. Stuart was not able to communicate with General Lee so
General Lee did not know what the Union troops were planning. At that time the
Union soldiers were led by General Joe Hooker. When... Show more content on

Sherlock Holmes Research Paper
In 1887 Arthur Conan Doyle created the fictional character, Sherlock Holmes.
When Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was studying medicine at the University of
Edinburgh he met Dr. Joseph Bell, who was one of his professors (Trickey).
Amazed by Dr. Bell s ability to detect information about a patient such as how they
walked, whether they had tattoos, their accent, physical appearance, and so on
Doyle became inspired. As well as being amazingly intuitive, Bell was physically
tall, thin, had an angular well defined face, and very distinctive walk (Trickey). Dr.
Joseph Bell was Conan Doyle s inspiration for Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes
also had a partner named Dr. John Watson. In the words of William L. De Andrea,
Watson also serves the important function of catalyst for Holmes mental processes...
From the writer s point of view, Doyle knew the importance of having someone to
whom the detective can make enigmatic remarks, a consciousness that s privy to facts
in the case without being in on the conclusions ( Dr. ). In Arthur Conan Doyles short
story, A Scandal in Bohemia and The Silver Blaze , the character of Dr. Watson
showcases the strong personality of Sherlock Holmes.
Sherlock Holmes is well known for his incredible use of logic. In Conan Doyle s
story, The Silver Blaze, Holmes talks about the theft of a race horse from a country
estate protected by a ferocious watch dog. Later Holmes explains how the dog not
barking helped him solve the case; this is an example of
The Redeeming Qualities of South Park Essay
The television show South Park is a very controversial show which has been
attacked by the media, politicians, parents, the school system, and just about every
other social group imaginable. Why is the show so controversial? The reason it is
attacked so thoroughly is because of its crude humor and vulgar displays by its
characters, as well as the fact that it attacks the thoughts and beliefs of every religion
in the world. This vulgarity and intolerance is most notable in the character Cartman,
who is extremely offensive in his thoughts, ideas, and actions. The show does,
however, provide a balance to Cartman s antics through his co stars Stan and Kyle.
Stan, and Kyle almost always stand up to Cartman and ridicule his intolerance,...

Censorship has been around as long as written words have been available to the
general public, and whether or not that suppression of ideas is a good idea or not
does not change the fact that it is the parent s job to decide what their children will
be allowed to read, watch, or play with. Those who criticize the show based on
these offenses are either being intolerant themselves, or not paying close attention
to the deeper meaning of the show. The show centers around Cartman as the
antagonist, who regularly provides insulting views, and Stan and Kyle, whom
provide opposing views in order to balance out Cartman s stances. An example of
this occurs in the episode Something This Way Wall Mart Comes. Wal Mart s
overtaking of towns, and the social injustice that occurs with its arrival, is
portrayed as a local small business that they boys shop at is closed because of the
loss of business that occurs when Wal Mart comes to their town. After reflecting on
their friend s plight Stan says See, that sucks dude and Cartman replies What, that s
called progress Kyle (Parker and Stone, 2004). This is just one example where
Cartman shows his selfish nature. All he cares about is the fact that a huge new
store is open and he can get his mother to buy him all the best new toys, while Stan

Implication Of Homemaking Beyond Home
5. Implication of homemaking beyond home These situated performances of
homemaking beyond home confirm how cultural and more than human approaches to
home can inform the layers of interactions (Gibbs, 2009) that continuously rationalize
immigrants living in a city and reconfigure urban Sydney. Central conclusion is that
newly settled migrants homemaking in Sydney does not end with securing a roof
over a family s head, rather it is networked and processual both materially and
metaphorically extending beyond home. Imaginaries of belonging, as sense of an
immigrant s home, are not tied to the confinement of a dwelling site; rather urban
liveability and production of a meaningful home involve social cultural associations
and economic attachments forged in and through more than human relations across
the settlement spectrum. Therefore, any housing supply, especially if it is targeted to
young immigrants should offer multi scalar opportunities that are streamlined to
match immigrants material and cultural demands. Young immigrants homemaking
blurs the boundary between private and public through associations with the more
than human others. These associations positively reconfigure women s role at home
and outside as these non humans liberated female immigrants from the confinement
of homes. Compared to their devalued and unvalued domestic labour earlier in their
countries of origin, now they are economically active involving themselves in
homemade food supply, home
Chapter 12 Of The Disappearing Spoon By Sam Kean
Reviewing Elements of Chapter 12 of the Disappearing Spoon Sam Kean, the
author of the New York Times Bestseller the Disappearing Spoon, opens the 12th
chapter of his narrative by stating that The periodic table embodies our frustrations
and failures in every human field: economics, psychology, the arts, and... politics
(Kean, 203). Kean, being an english and physics major, observes that the periodic
table, our most treasured accomplishment as a race as he puts it, is much more than
just a jumble of random letters pertaining to a specific scientific field but, instead, a
focal point of human interaction throughout history. Kean s narrative, as a whole,
focuses on the many facets of the periodic table including its scientific and
nonscientific attributes, providing the reader with a new perspective to this vast
array of elements; a social perspective. Chapter 12 of Kean s bestseller focuses on
how politics had a major influence on the development of the periodic table. The
majority of the chapter takes place during the mid 1900s and therefore, as one might

Although one might assume that the periodic table is exclusively science related
and has no connection with societal aspects, Kean proves with stories such as
Hevesy s that politics in addition to many other fields shaped the table s path.
Politics helped determine the outcome of the periodic table, or so Kean claims.
Kean supports this conjecture with the fact that many of the scientific geniuses who
developed the table lived in Eastern Europe and during the time of World War II.
Because of this, the Nazi regime controlled most of the scientific research done at
the time and, as we now know, prevented the work of Jews from gaining glory. Many
of these scientists who contributed to the development of the periodic table were
Jewish and so, as one might deduce, the scientific discoveries made during this time
were tainted by politics, influencing the outcome of the periodic
The Typists Character Analysis
The play The Typists is a play about a time in WW2 how these women s who write
letters to families whose sons have passed away when serving in the military and
do not realize how things could be hard for them to know what would it be like if
they were in their shoes and dreams. This was also the first theatrical play I have
attended and to my surprise it was a great experience, so it also gave me an
affective memory to what I was dealing with in my life. Though the production was
excellent there were things that I enjoyed, and only some that I disliked as well.
Hopefully this will help clarify my likings and disliking of the production The
Typists. Starting with my dislike of the production, it came to my attention that some
parts of the playwhere Sofi, the new girl who was always getting blamed whenever
her boss did not like how she would type her letters in Spanish. In my opinion, the
boss should not have gotten after for that reason since there are some families who
do not always read everything in English. She initially thought if they have a Spanish
last name she was being consider it on typingtheirs in Spanish rather them suffer in
trying to find out what was said in English. Another thingthat I didn t find interesting
was when the all the girls in the office had a night out talking about their guys who
were serving when they had a job to fulfill instead of Sofi. I had saw how much Sofi
was working hard on her letters trying to impress her

Champagne on ice at Finnish first
Finnish developer Suomen Hyötytuuli is this week celebrating having completed
turbine installation and successfully exported first power to the grid at its 42MW

Jan De Nul jack up Vole au Vent lifted the seventh of 10 Siemens 4.2 MW turbines
into place during a reNEWS visit to Finland s first commercial wind farm last
Thursday.
Finnish Sea Service cable lay vessel Nökö had that morning linked the project s14

We are confident we can recoup the €100 million investment within 10 to 11 years
and plan to add a further 35 turbines in the 10MW range to the site between 2021 and
2023, Suomen Hyötytuuli managing director Toni Sulameri told reNEWS.
The developer is also drafting plans to place 300 turbines at three separate sites some
380KM north, near the town of Raahe.
The Raahe projects could be operational by 2025 and Hyötytuuli boffins are busy
finalizing designs for ice resistant monopiles that could support some of the turbines.
Subsidy free is where we want to end up Sulameri said. But to get there we have a
lot to learn from operating this wind farm.
Pre emptive maintenance key to winter wins
A preventative operations and maintenance strategy will be essential at Tahkoluoto as
harsh arctic winters will severely limit the scope for repairs.
We need to have excellent condition monitoring, Tahkoluoto technology manager
Jaakko Kleemola told reNEWS.
If we notice a shaft or baring fault towards the end of the annual weather window
we need to inspect it, run the machine on a lower power level for the winter and
plan repairs for the following year, he explained.
The site s Siemens 4.2MW turbines are equipped with ice monitoring technology, but
the developer has opted not to install any blade heating as the sea air should stop
Racism And Its Subsequent Civil Liberty
The esteemed author Mark Twain offered commentary on a hypothetical society
which had unwittingly brought upon its own demise, when he said, But it was
impossible to save the Great Republic. She was rotten to the heart. Lust of
conquest had long ago done its work; trampling upon the helpless abroad had
taught her, by a natural process, to endure with apathy the like at home; multitudes
who had applauded the crushing of other people s liberties, lived to suffer for their
mistake in their own persons . A common theme of the animated television show
Futurama is the concept of multiculturalism and its subsequent civil liberty.
Futurama is set in the year 3000 and follows the adventures of a pizza delivery boy
who wakes up in the time period after being accidentally cryogenically frozen in the
year 2000. In the world today, relationships between countries and people are
becoming increasingly interconnected and this brings rise to new challenges, as a
result of this, the concept of civil liberty is important. While the world in the time of
Futurama is generally seen as more socially advanced, it still faces some of the same
issues and mistakes that modern society deals with such as social prejudice, national
pride, and foreign intervention. An apathetic attitude when faced with certain issues
can bring unfavorable consequences. Social prejudice is an innate defect in human
society and is a form of control that governs behavior. In Futurama, the largest
minority group is
Definition Of Applied Behavior Analysis Essay
Introduction
Autism is a disease that is being diagnosed today more than ever before. In fact, as of
2014 the statistics for diagnosis of autism are one in sixty eight children, with
diagnosis being much more common in boys (Autism Speaks, 2016a). While there
are many theories about what causes autism, there is currently not any proven
predictor of what will cause this disease to develop (Landrigan, 2010). Since
prevention is not possible at this time, it is extremely beneficial and important to
research understanding and treatment of those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD). There are many avenues of treatment for ASD, but one method that
has received significant attention is applied behavior analysis (ABA). The goal of this
research article is to explore the definition of applied behavior analysis, its
development over time, and its application to real life. Some questions that will be
explored are when and where did ABA originate, how has it developed over time,
and what researchers contributed new findings to this intervention. Additionally, the
methods that have been developed over time to implement ABA will be discussed,
specifically with their application to autism and individuals diagnosed with ASD.
Finally, there will be a discussion of how skills that individuals with ASD gain from
applied behavioral analysis can be applied to a classroom setting.
History
Applied behavior analysis has origins in the research done by behaviorist

MRAP Acquisition
As if it were not complex enough, the Defense Acquisition System (DAS) resides
within a complex system. Congress, industry, and national strategy all influence and
affect the acquisition process. Mass producing the effectiveness of the Mine Resistant
Ambush Protected vehicle (MRAP) acquisition may tempt the amateur. However,
although the unprecedented speed and strategic leader attention afforded the MRAP
acquisition resulted in relative success, the process should not be used as a model for
future acquisitions. The challenge of acquisition lays in difficult to define metrics,
shifting policies, short term leadership, and its position of a complex system within a
system. First, measuring success and failure proves elusive, making identifying
meaningful change difficult. Perhaps because of this fact, the rules change rapidly.
Since its inception in 1971, the Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5000 series
has been revised more than a dozen times a change approximately once every three
years. Well meaning and proactive defense secretaries institute changes and then
leave office prior to institutionalization. Finally, due to the complexityof the system of
systems involved, no single internal modification possesses the ability to maximize
the acquisition process. These three factors alone make acquisition and acquisition
reform a Sisyphean task. Of the three factors discussed above, strategic leadership
holds the most potential to effectively influence the

Social Entrepreneurship And Economic Growth
In 1978, China started its economic reform, which opened the door for entrepreneurs
to venture in the rural and agricultural sectors (Naughton, 1995). This decision has
led hundreds of millions of people out of poverty and can be considered one of the
most significant events in poverty reduction in the twentieth century (Urban
Springerlink, 2010). Through the newly created firms, jobs were created and people
were able to access a range of products and services which eventually effected the
total household saving which increased by 10% within approximately four years of
introducing the reform in addition to the contribution of these firms to China s
economic growth (Naughton, 1995).
Entrepreneurship can be used to solve problems in the society and this paper will
focus on examining social entrepreneurship in particular starting with the social
impacts of entrepreneurship, the need for social entrepreneurship followed by
characteristics and examples of these socially driven entrepreneurship.
Not all entrepreneurs have societal benefits in their agenda when starting a new
business however social value is still generated through the creation of new jobs (12),
which in turn reduces unemployment and poverty rates (Westhead, Wright Mcelwee,
2011). For example, new start ups were responsible for 50% of job opportunities in
the U.S. from the year 1982 to 1985 (HГ©bert Link, 1989).
These new owners also pay taxes, which the government uses to fund developmental
and social
Assistive Technology Theory
Theory of Action:
Many college students struggle with the reading, writing, and organizational skills
and competencies needed to perform at a high level in college. Assistive technology
is shown to improve the performance of students with disabilities in those areas. If we

college level classes will increase leading to higher retention and graduation rates.

The North Connex Project is a nine kilometre underground motorway, beneath

Pacific Motorway links Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter regions.
The issue of traffic congestion is located in the West Pennant Hills area, where the M2

There has been much care and time put into making this project as safe for the
environment as possible, and surprisingly the impacts on the environment are quite
minimal. The only major environmental impact of the NorthConnex Tunnel is where
there has been the clearance of land for the infrastructure needed, and this is likely to
have an impact on the flora and fauna in those areas as their habitats are removed.
The maps on the following page shows the endangered...vegetation and animal

Apart from during the construction of the tunnel, the local air quality is expected to
improve, as the ventilation stacks are to have an insignificant effect on the air
quality as they are being built high enough so that any pollutants are pumped high
into the atmosphere. Also, the air quality modelling that has been carried out (figure

will be a reduction in the exhaust emissions and the fuel usage in the area, as there
will be higher average travel speeds than on Pennant Hills Road, a more flat and

Good Leadership Essay. Leadership Essay Example Essay examples, Essay, Essay prompts

  • 1. Good Leadership Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Good Leadership" poses a unique set of challenges. Firstly, defining the parameters of what constitutes good leadership is a task that requires careful consideration. Leadership is a multifaceted concept, encompassing qualities such as communication skills, empathy, decisiveness, and strategic thinking. Attempting to encapsulate these varied facets within the confines of an essay demands a nuanced understanding of the topic. Moreover, the landscape of leadership is dynamic, evolving with societal changes and contextual shifts. This necessitates a comprehensive exploration of historical and contemporary examples to illustrate the fluid nature of effective leadership. Analyzing case studies and drawing parallels between different leadership styles adds layers of complexity to the essay, requiring in-depth research and critical thinking. Structuring the essay is another formidable challenge. Balancing theoretical frameworks, practical examples, and personal insights, while maintaining a coherent narrative, demands a strategic approach. A well-crafted introduction that captures the reader's attention, followed by a clear thesis statement, sets the stage for the essay. Developing a logical flow of ideas, supported by evidence and analysis, is crucial to conveying a compelling argument. Furthermore, incorporating a personal touch can elevate the essay, but striking the right balance between objectivity and subjectivity is a delicate task. Sharing anecdotes or experiences without losing the academic rigor of the essay requires finesse in writing. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of good leadership requires a blend of research, critical thinking, and effective communication. The challenge lies not only in defining the elusive qualities of good leadership but also in presenting a cohesive and engaging narrative that resonates with the reader. Success in this endeavor hinges on the ability to navigate the complexities of leadership theory and practice while maintaining clarity and depth. • 2. Explain Why Pope Urban Ll Called for a Crusade Essay In 1095, at the Council of Clermont, Pope Urban ll made a powerful and well planned speech. His message was clear and precise, go to the holy land in Jerusalem and claim back what is rightfully yours or die trying, and in return remission of all your sins with the assurance of the imperishable glory of the kingdom of heaven . He was addressing Christians from all over France calling for a Crusade in the name of God and as many would argue, abusing his authority and status he received from the Catholic Church. What occurred during the First Crusade is well known to many, whereas the reason behind PopeUrban ll calling the Crusade is a highly debated and contradicting issue. One of the reasons which are occasionally cited for Urban s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, an additional reason for Urban s calling for a so called Crusade was that he felt the lands of Christ needed to be reclaimed and in the control of Christianity not in the hands of infidels . Jerusalem is at the centre of the Christian faith and is the religions birth place. It is the land in which Jesus was crucified and then, as Christians believe, bought back to life in a miracle event. Urban said in his speech, wrest that land from the wicked race, that land which the scripture says floweth with milk and honey and was given by god to the children of Israel . By these few words we can understand why Urban felt so strongly that it the land of Christians and why he ordered for it to be reclaimed, even if it mean death. At the time of Urban s speech Jerusalam was under the rule of Muslim, who also have a strong attachment with the land as it is the place where the holy prophet descended to heaven. Urban however believed that it belonged to the Christians and therefore ordered it to be reclaimed in the name of god . Pope Urban ll called for a Crusade at the Council of Clermont to claim back what he believed rightfully belonged to the Christians and unite the Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches. • 3. Interview With Film Composer Chris Hajian Of The Infiltrator Interview with Film Composer Chris Hajian of The Infiltrator Pablo Escobar has been a popular topic lately. From Narcos on Netflix to Andrea s Di Stefano s underrated Escobar Paradise Lost, cocaine and greed can t get anymore bombastic in the entertainment zeitgeist. Yet with director Brad Furman s (The Lincoln Lawyer), The Infiltrator, the infamous Columbian drug load plays only second to agent Robert Mazur (played wonderfully by Bryan Cranston), the man who brings down the world s largest cartel. It s a refreshing angle on the subject matter with stellar performances (most notably John Leguizamo s radically different and award worthy role) to match. Yet, one of the biggest highlights of the filmis that of film composer Chris Hajian s (First Position, Yonkers Joe, The Take) score. Hajian manages to keep the film s music subtle, but with gravitas to capture the heaviness of the situation at bay. It plays to the trend of synth percussion, a popular sensation seen everywhere from Cliff Martinez s score in Drive to Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein of Stranger Things. Sure it plays to the trend, but doesn t get lost in it. Hijian has the ear to work with modern sound, but keeps disciplined by incorporating instrumental sounds that grounds the film, but at the same time keeps it constantly moving. Check out track I m Being Followed, to hear the complexity of modern synth, layered with piano. Recently I got the chance to sit down and interview Chris Hajian. Read below to
  • 4. Egyptian Art Analysis Germain Medina Art History B. Legakis 2/15/17 The Egyptian city of Amarna was a capital built by the Pharaoh Akhenaten which was abandoned shortly after his death in 1332 BCE. The city of Amarna was where Akhenaten pursued his vision of a society dedicated to the devotion of the power of the sun god, the Aten. It remains the largest accessible living site of Ancient Egypt. It is a key to the history of the religious experiences of Egypt and to a fuller extent the life of an egyptian. There is no other site like it. The website mentions that the site is in danger of encroachment. This sounds very interesting to me and I d like to see how the life of an Egyptian was at the time. I don t know much about the Egyptians, but I d like to learn more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I find this piece to be very mysterious. Why does the head become narrow at the top? The face seems to be of an older woman, as shown by the wrinkles indented within the sides of the nose and the mouth, although they are not as prevalent as the one of NYC. There s a soft jaw line of a woman. What is interesting to me is the indented/concave region of the eyes. Instead of forming an extruding eye with a pupil, the sculptor chose to extract the material to form the eye, unlike the piece we saw of Abu, with eyes stamped with bitumen tar. The lips are very well sculpted, and textured well. It seems like it would mean a lot to a Pharaoh who has lost his mother, or who hopes to forever remember his family. To see the portrait of his family along with himself would ve made him feel happy and in the presence of his family. I feel this way much of the time when seeing photos of lost family members with me beside them within the photos. It s like an everlasting memory of that person and being with them in the memory. The reign of Amenophis III was the beginning of a political era of diplomatic relations and an economic upturn in Egypt. Amenophis III was original with the choice of his Great Royal Wife , Tiye, who was not born into a family of monarchs.

Political: In some cases, foreign governments limit U.S. air carriers rights to carry passengers beyond designated gateway cities in foreign countries. This can affect the American Airlines company in the competitive airlineindustry because if some foreign governments deny the rights to U.S. air carriers to carry passengers beyond designated cities, the loyal customers of American Airlines would choose another airline that would be accepted by foreign governments, which will ultimately decrease American Airline ticket sales followed by a decrease in profits. 2. If the Bankruptcy court follows up with this action, the American Airlines company will fall off as being one of the top competitors in this airline industry or end up shutting down and not even existing as a company. 7. Current Competitors: The Company faces competing service from at least one, and sometimes more than one, domestic airline including: Alaska Airlines (Alaska), Delta Air Lines(Delta), Frontier Airlines, JetBlue Airways (JetBlue), Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines (Southwest) and AirTran Airways (Air Tran) With the majority of American Airlines competitors in domestic industry, it is crucial for them to keep up to date with the latest business strategies their competitors are integrating in to their businesses. Throughout American Airlines 10K the company does not discuss the current threats of new entrants to the domestic airline industry, however in the statement above

For three months he had been struggling to pay his rent, and during those three months he had refused to even allow himself to event think of posting a picture up. He had too much pride for that and felt that he just needed a little more time before he was finally settled. He was starting to fall behind on payments and it had already took a rather tremendous dent into his savings. An Uncomfortable emotion we cannot deal with at the time. Sometimes we use excessive behaviour to avoid accepting it and reasoning is used to block out confrontations. This could mean also removing ourselves emotionally from what has happened. I used this defence mechanism when my Nan died, I couldn t face that, one of the most important people in my life had gone. This is not true, when one can study different field studies than it is also possible to learn multiple languages at a time. However, it might be difficult to learn multiple languages at time. The case is different for English. English is much easier as compared with many other difficult international languages. Summary In the article call for the change , Kathleen Schenck is discussing the change, which is needed in the acronyms terms, which are using to teach of English language. Schenck reinforces her idea with an example of ESL (English as Secondary languages) for the openers. She says, For openers the term (ESL) is inaccurate i.e. the person may already have other languages as second, third and so own. Schenck explains her view in way A Swiss nation may know Italian, German, French and even Romansch before attempting English . On the other hand Schenck demonstrate another concern with the word second is that it gives a message to the learner that he will always considered English as a second language i.e. he can never acquire native fluency. This could be disheartened for the learner and this fact will always resist him to understand the accent of natives. While describing the rules of linguistic schenck says, linguistic is no one dialect trumps another then she explains her idea by referring the phrase beauty is in the eye likewise the appropriate sound is that which is appropriate for the beholder i.e. beauty is in the ear of the beholder. It is possible that a sound, which is sweet for a person, will be its dreadful for the other. Overall Schenck enlighten that terms which are used to teach English, should be change and modify by focusing the learners and understanding their requirement of learning English

Abstract; This essay will aim to elucidate the use of semiotic analysis using fashion iconography and imagery as its primary medium. We will aim to explore the strengths and limitations of semiotic analysis through a process of dissection; where we will explain how imagery has been layered to give voice to what the artist has chosen to communicate, without the use of syntax. The connotation is how something is photographed, while the denotation is what is photographed. What is important in this scenario is that the essence of the picture is manipulated by one or more of these external factors. It may be argued that the art of photography itself is not organic, but merely the careful manipulation of external elements, constructed by the artist. However, Barthes does not consider photography as an analogue, a puerile denoted message, yet ironically that is how most people instinctively see. Objects photographed (denoted) for non artistic pictures such as documentaries are perceived by the viewer as portraying characteristics of the truth, rather than being used as stylistic mediums. According to Barthes, in the case of traumatic images where tragic events are depicted, even those that have long passed still have the ability to evoke emotion. As Jake and Susanne Page maintain, they are not only the oldest dwellers in this land but are considered by most other Native Americans to have a wisdom, a knowledge of things, beyond average comprehension (1994:19). This wisdom comes from a deep connection to all things natural and of this Earth. The Hopis have always relied on nature to guide them spiritually, philosophically, as well as physically. The Hopis understand that through their hard work, dedication, and faith they are preparing for the future of their people. Another important part of the Hopi culture, is the idea that time is circular and ongoing. Hopis emerged from the spirit world to take on their role in life as part of nature. They believe that their connection with the land, animals, and spirits is a part of their Hopivotskowani. Therefore, they respect the natural and cyclical tendency of life. Just as the seasons of the year bring life and death to many plants and animals, the Hopi people accept life and death as part of the human existence. (Ferrero 1983) Then, as one enters the spiritual world, his/her spirit becomes a force of life giving nature and serves as a guide for young Hopis. However, the actual count is most likely fewer than 400 tigers. In 1978, a census was taken of the Sumatran tigers. It stated that there were about 1,000 tigers in the wild. In the last 25 years, the Sumatran tigerpopulation has been cut in half. Their species is considered critically endangered, and their numbers are still going down. Their endangerment would mean that their ecosystem would crumble without them. They are very small in size compared to other tigers, as they weigh only about 170 pounds to 330 pounds. Because Sumatran tigers are so small, they are able to move through denser areas of forests to catch their prey. Some experts believe the reason they re so small is because of limited space in their natural habitat. Their tiny size also comes the size of their prey, which is smaller than most other species of tigers, like wild boars compared to water buffalo. Seeing that we look at hybridization on a case to case basis can seem like a hard task, so that s why we have to choose a side. I however am against hybridization for the sole reason that these hybrids are taking over native species and creating generations and generations of hybrids. As well as leading to the extinctionof rare species and populations, which then leads to the loss of genetic diversity. Yes, in some cases, hybridization can be a good thing, but most of the time it is only considered a good thing due to the fact that it is for our own selfish needs. Just because you can interbreed doesn t mean you should. For instance, hybrids are either causing issues now or they will eventually become an issue over time. As a result, we are main cause of hybridization, and we are ones introducing the two species or populations that are creating these threatening hybrids. I believe we must become aware of the damage these hybrids are causing for themselves, natives species or populations, and the ecosystem and take action to stop this from occurring. Provided that, the movement of people has resulted in the invasions of exotic plants, animals, and microorganisms that are introduced to the native species and populations. As Ferdinand de Saussure stated and is quoted on a University of Vermont educational website, All signs have two aspects: the signifier and the signified. The signifier is any material thing that signifies, e.g., words on a page, a facial expression, a picture, a bit of graffiti. The signified is the concept that a signifier refers to. In most cases the signified is in relation to the signifier in order to ensure the signified is able to relate to it s signifier. They also feel America has recently drawn away from these ideals and is therefore not as democratic as it once was or can be in the future. Doore believes there is especially room for democratization in the workplace (28). In fact, he points out that it is the lack of freedom of expression and the restrictive environment of the workplace that has led to this situation. More ideas and innovations would come from corporations if they would allow more freedom to its employees. Not only would workers benefit, but the company they work for would also. (28) Another cause for the break down of democracy in America stems from the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush (Doore 26). Because of the Cold War era and the insecurities it brought to the American people, the administrations thought it was necessary to tighten down and take control. To do this they called for more powers to the executive branch. As a result, Doore and other liberals began to see more of an authoritarian government take shape, and the term imperial presidency was created. We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope, their learning potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly slip away. Savage inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that we have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not provide access to the American Dream because of the lack of education and opportunities, kids are constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that all students have the opportunity to go to school, but some kids have to deal with major disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds, and smells of ghetto schools. James Baldwin once quoted not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing can be changed until it is faced .Those living in la la land that thinks that everyone has the same opportunities needs to wake up. • 19. Forgiveness Is The Act Of Pardoning A Person Forgiveness is the act of pardoning a person(s) of an offense and ceasing to feel resentment towards them. It can be argued that the day the act of forgiveness was introduced to mankind, was when Adam and Eve first sinned in the Garden of Eden. Although it is not written in the Bible that Adam and Eve repented from their sins, sought forgiveness, studying the Book of Genesis further, it can be assumed that the action of forgiveness occurred because Cain and Abel (Adam and Eve s sons) both made sacrifices to the Lord. The practice of sacrifice was done in thanksgiving and for the remission of sinor forgiveness, which would have been taught to them by their parents. God provided a way to seek forgiveness in the bloodshed of an animal. Beginning with the animals, God, himself, killed to provide the first garment to Adam and Eve to clothe their nakedness; thus, symbolizing the covering of their sin, as can be read in Genesis 3:21. Recognizing that the blood shed of an animal would never be sufficient enough to forgive man s sinful nature, God provided the ultimate sacrifice, through the His son, JesusChrist. The shedding of Christ s death and resurrection is powerful enough to wipe away all sin and restore mankind to his spiritual life with the Lord. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Throughout the Bible God teaches that true forgiveness is a merciful act

(Oxford University Press 2014) Edwards Said, author of the book Orientalism defines Orientalism as a corporate institution for dealing with the Orient , dealing with it by making statements about it, authorizing views of it, describing it, by teaching it, settling it, ruling over it: in short, Orientalism as a Western style for dominating, restructuring, and having authority over the Orient. (Locke 1993, under Reflections on Orientalism in Opera) From the definitions available, it can concluded that the word orient in the term of Orientalism is referring to either the Islamic Middle East (e.g. North Africa, Turkey, Arabia, Persia), or East and South Asia (the Far East , e.g. India, Indochina, China, Japan). Despite his best efforts, history tells us that the speech failed at preventing the South from seceding and the civil war from beginning. However, that does not fall on Lincoln and his speech. Depending on the success of the solution and the number of areas for improvement found, one may decide how many times the Do and Check phases should be repeated, to find more effective solution. Once a satisfied solution is found that will outweigh the cost of benefits achieved by repeating the Do and Check phases any more. We can finally move on to the final phase. Step 4: Act Now once you found an appropriate solution, its time implement the same. However, the use of the PDCA Cycle doesn t stop here. If an organisation is using PDCA cycle as tool for continuous improvement, it can move to Phase 1 Plan to follow their goal of Continuous Improvement. 7.Kanban

One understands tort liability as an instrument aimed largely at the goal of deterrence, commonly explained within the framework of economics. • 37. The Doctrine Of The Faith Mavrodes begins by stating the doctrine of the faith, which is that God is omnipotent (capable of anything). There has been attempts to refute the omnipotence of God by proposing things he cannot do. One example Mavrodes gives is the creation of a square circle. In paragraph two Mavrodes goes on to highlight the counterarguments to these attempts by a St. Thomas. St. Thomas wanted to clarify that the anything that we refer to when we talk about God s omnipotence should be, construed to refer only to objects, actions, or states of affairs whose descriptions are not self contradictory. Thomas goes on to say that only things whose nonexistence might plausibly be attributed to a lack of power would fit under this category. Mavrodes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mavrodes now decides to state that despite this difference, the question of the stone is open to the same solution as the problem of the square circle. The question of the stone doesn t work because it depends on asking whether God can perform a self contradictory thing. The answer that he cannot do such a thing does not damage God s doctrine of omnipotence. Either God s omnipotence is true, or he lacks such omnipotence. If we are to assume that he is not omnipotent, the problem of a stone too heavy for God to lift wouldn t contradict itself. If we say that God is able or unable to create such a stone, his omnipotence may be in question. This too is no more than an assumption much like the one we started with. Mavrodes then questions whether or not the assumption of the omnipotence of God always leads to a reductio, when in fact, in may give us a feasible answer. When one assumes that God is omnipotent, a stone too heavy to lift then becomes contradictory, as it then becomes what Mavrodes refers to as, a stone which cannot be lifted by Him whose power is sufficient for lifting anything. The stone this scenario describes contradicts itself and is entirely impossible, so we can check it at the door when it comes to questioning God s omnipotence. Not being capable of logical existence, it s failure to do so can t be due to a lack in the power of God. It is the omnipotence of

Implication of homemaking beyond home These situated performances of homemaking beyond home confirm how cultural and more than human approaches to home can inform the layers of interactions (Gibbs, 2009) that continuously rationalize immigrants living in a city and reconfigure urban Sydney. Central conclusion is that newly settled migrants homemaking in Sydney does not end with securing a roof over a family s head, rather it is networked and processual both materially and metaphorically extending beyond home. Imaginaries of belonging, as sense of an immigrant s home, are not tied to the confinement of a dwelling site; rather urban liveability and production of a meaningful home involve social cultural associations and economic attachments forged in and through more than human relations across the settlement spectrum. Therefore, any housing supply, especially if it is targeted to young immigrants should offer multi scalar opportunities that are streamlined to match immigrants material and cultural demands. Young immigrants homemaking blurs the boundary between private and public through associations with the more than human others. Lust of conquest had long ago done its work; trampling upon the helpless abroad had taught her, by a natural process, to endure with apathy the like at home; multitudes who had applauded the crushing of other people s liberties, lived to suffer for their mistake in their own persons . A common theme of the animated television show Futurama is the concept of multiculturalism and its subsequent civil liberty. Futurama is set in the year 3000 and follows the adventures of a pizza delivery boy who wakes up in the time period after being accidentally cryogenically frozen in the year 2000. In the world today, relationships between countries and people are becoming increasingly interconnected and this brings rise to new challenges, as a result of this, the concept of civil liberty is important. While the world in the time of Futurama is generally seen as more socially advanced, it still faces some of the same issues and mistakes that modern society deals with such as social prejudice, national pride, and foreign intervention. An apathetic attitude when faced with certain issues can bring unfavorable consequences. Social prejudice is an innate defect in human society and is a form of control that governs behavior. In Futurama, the largest minority group is
  • 49. Definition Of Applied Behavior Analysis Essay Introduction Autism is a disease that is being diagnosed today more than ever before. In fact, as of 2014 the statistics for diagnosis of autism are one in sixty eight children, with diagnosis being much more common in boys (Autism Speaks, 2016a). While there are many theories about what causes autism, there is currently not any proven predictor of what will cause this disease to develop (Landrigan, 2010). Since prevention is not possible at this time, it is extremely beneficial and important to research understanding and treatment of those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There are many avenues of treatment for ASD, but one method that has received significant attention is applied behavior analysis (ABA). The goal of this research article is to explore the definition of applied behavior analysis, its development over time, and its application to real life. Some questions that will be explored are when and where did ABA originate, how has it developed over time, and what researchers contributed new findings to this intervention. Additionally, the methods that have been developed over time to implement ABA will be discussed, specifically with their application to autism and individuals diagnosed with ASD. Finally, there will be a discussion of how skills that individuals with ASD gain from applied behavioral analysis can be applied to a classroom setting. History Applied behavior analysis has origins in the research done by behaviorist psychologists
  • 50. MRAP Acquisition As if it were not complex enough, the Defense Acquisition System (DAS) resides within a complex system. Congress, industry, and national strategy all influence and affect the acquisition process. Mass producing the effectiveness of the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle (MRAP) acquisition may tempt the amateur. However, although the unprecedented speed and strategic leader attention afforded the MRAP acquisition resulted in relative success, the process should not be used as a model for future acquisitions. The challenge of acquisition lays in difficult to define metrics, shifting policies, short term leadership, and its position of a complex system within a system. First, measuring success and failure proves elusive, making identifying meaningful change difficult. Perhaps because of this fact, the rules change rapidly. Since its inception in 1971, the Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5000 series has been revised more than a dozen times a change approximately once every three years. Well meaning and proactive defense secretaries institute changes and then leave office prior to institutionalization. Finally, due to the complexityof the system of systems involved, no single internal modification possesses the ability to maximize the acquisition process. These three factors alone make acquisition and acquisition reform a Sisyphean task. Of the three factors discussed above, strategic leadership holds the most potential to effectively influence the

  • 52. Social Entrepreneurship And Economic Growth In 1978, China started its economic reform, which opened the door for entrepreneurs to venture in the rural and agricultural sectors (Naughton, 1995). This decision has led hundreds of millions of people out of poverty and can be considered one of the most significant events in poverty reduction in the twentieth century (Urban Springerlink, 2010). Through the newly created firms, jobs were created and people were able to access a range of products and services which eventually effected the total household saving which increased by 10% within approximately four years of introducing the reform in addition to the contribution of these firms to China s economic growth (Naughton, 1995). Entrepreneurship can be used to solve problems in the society and this paper will focus on examining social entrepreneurship in particular starting with the social impacts of entrepreneurship, the need for social entrepreneurship followed by characteristics and examples of these socially driven entrepreneurship. Not all entrepreneurs have societal benefits in their agenda when starting a new business however social value is still generated through the creation of new jobs (12), which in turn reduces unemployment and poverty rates (Westhead, Wright Mcelwee, 2011). For example, new start ups were responsible for 50% of job opportunities in the U.S. from the year 1982 to 1985 (HГ©bert Link, 1989). These new owners also pay taxes, which the government uses to fund developmental and social

Assistive Technology Theory Theory of Action: Many college students struggle with the reading, writing, and organizational skills and competencies needed to perform at a high level in college. Assistive technology is shown to improve the performance of students with disabilities in those areas. If we introduce assistive technology solutions to all college students, their performance in college level classes will increase leading to higher retention and graduation rates. Where are we today? This development has been approved for construction due to the issue of traffic congestion for motorists travelling between Sydney and the north coast. The Hills M2 is the motorway connecting Sydney s north shore and north western regions. Furthermore, the M1 Pacific Motorway links Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter regions. The issue of traffic congestion is located in the West Pennant Hills area, where the M2 is, and it extends further up north to the Wahroonga area, to the M1. There has been much care and time put into making this project as safe for the environment as possible, and surprisingly the impacts on the environment are quite minimal. The only major environmental impact of the NorthConnex Tunnel is where there has been the clearance of land for the infrastructure needed, and this is likely to have an impact on the flora and fauna in those areas as their habitats are removed. The maps on the following page shows the endangered...vegetation and animal species..... affected by the developments. Apart from during the construction of the tunnel, the local air quality is expected to improve, as the ventilation stacks are to have an insignificant effect on the air quality as they are being built high enough so that any pollutants are pumped high into the atmosphere. Also, the air quality modelling that has been carried out (figure 4.1) has shown that the human made particulate matter (PM 2.5) is to have a 38% reduction with the NorthConnex Tunnel, in 24 hour average concentrations, by 2029 as shown in the graph below. When the NorthConnex tunnel is in use, there will be a reduction in the exhaust emissions and the fuel usage in the area, as there will be higher average travel speeds than on Pennant Hills Road, a more flat and level road road, and there will be no need to stop and start at traffic lights like the current
