2. Human Impact On Climate Change
The human race all around the world wonders if the climate is changing due to human activity or
if it is just a natural occurrence. At certain parts of the Earth s surface, the climate can be observed
much differently than other locations. As the years go by the average temperature of the Earth
increases by little intervals. There are several different reasons why people believe the climate is
changing every year. However, the increase of worldwide population and production of heat to the
atmosphereis due to the increase of human activities that take place on a daily basis. Human
activity is the main cause of the global climate change. The human impact on climate exceeds any
known changes due to natural processes. The impact of this human activity is often misunderstood
when looking at climate change. Scientists and experts from areas all over give their input on this
major world discussion. These experts all around the world have many different opinions on how
the climate is changing. Each opinion is supported by facts, models, or surveys from major
universities. The models allow scientists to simulate the behavior of climate and how natural and
human factors affect the climate. The 2013 Cook review of 11,944 peer reviewed studies on
climate change found that only 78 studies explicitly rejected the position that humans are
responsible for global warming. A separate review of 13,950 peer reviewed studies on climate
change found only 24 that rejected human caused global

4. Abstinence Project
Part A: Services need/Presenting issue I gave up caffeine for the 30 days of abstinence project. I
drink iced coffee almost everyday even when its cold, and I drink soda everyday multiple times.
I started drinking soda at a very young age, but my intake increased when I was a teenager.
Drinking caffeine has had a negative impact on my body. I have gained a lot of weight from
drinking soda. Also when I drinkcoffeemy stomach hurts, but I drink it anyways to get through the
day. I am well aware of how caffeinenegatively impacts me, but that doesn t make it easy for me to
stop drinking caffeine.
Part B: Treatment plan
Goal: I will abstain from the addictive behavior of drinking caffeine for 30 days

I have quit soda in the past a few times, but never all caffeine. I had cravings all 30 days and they
were really hard to control. I wanted a soda with everything I ate and every morning I
desperately needed coffee to wake me up. There were a couple of times I considered giving into
the cravings, but thankfully I didn t. Every time I craved caffeine I would drink lots of water.
On the mornings where I really needed caffeine I gave myself pep talks in order to not give in.
Clearly, those 30 days without caffeine was challenging for me. Although, I accept the impact
caffeine has on my life it wasn t easy quitting it. The first few days I was in the worst mood. I
myself didn t want to be around me. The psychical withdrawal was hard as well. I had a
headache for the first week in a half, which made it hard for me to focus on my work. This
definitely showed me that I depend a lot on caffeine to get through the day. More than I thought
because I need caffeine to wake up, to focus on schoolwork, to enjoy a meal, and even when I am
bored. All in all I have always known I drink to much caffeine but I have come to depend on it to
get through day, so I don t know how to quit

5. The Bitch Manifesto By Joreen Freeman
Feminist Movements started long before 1960, with the advancement of women earning the
right to vote. However, it did not stop with that change. There were many other items that the
women in history hoped to change, not only to better their own lives, but also the women of the
future. With the use of many documents, such as flyers, letters, and boycotts, women of the past
changed many different aspects of life for women in the world today. Boycotting the Miss
America Pageant in 1968 and 1969, circulating flyers around America, was just the beginning of
this second movement. They also used to write to convey their thoughts. One of which was
titled The Bitch Manifesto and was written in 1968 by Joreen Freeman. The second was a spin
off from a children s book entitled There was a Young Women Who Swallowed a lie which was
written in 1970 by Meredith Tax. Slavery Exists! Reported by a flyer that circulated around
America in 1968. At this time, slavery as we remember was over, so to many at the time, what the
women were proclaiming may have been confusing to some. This circulated around before the Miss
America pageant. The Washington Women s Liberation were portraying the pageant to slavery
because Miss America was a slave to cultural norms of the time, the image of sex, virginal
prettiness, glory of war, mindless conformity, acceptance of racism, cult of youth, the competitive
spirit, and the capitalistic system. With this flyer, they were hoping to gather others who

7. People s Views On Witches
People s views on witches have transformed from the pre modern period to today. During the pre
modern time, many people believed the Devil carried out evil deeds through witches, but the
witches were to blame for all of the misfortunes caused (Kramer and Sprenger 2). The modern era,
though, rejects that belief. Today, it is rumored that witches are no longer associated with the
Devil, and a witch is anyone at all who performs magic(Bolds 1). The definition of a witch as a
whole has transformed completely due to the diversity in opinions. Initially, it appears a witch can
be defined as a person who performs magic by conforming to these simple guidelines; however, I
argue that a witch is much more complex than that because magic can be used for good or evil in
witchcraft. Witchcraft does not directly correspond to religion; however, religions may have certain
beliefs about witchcraft. In their pre modern treatise Malleus Maleficarum, Heinrich Kramer and
James Sprenger state that witchcraft is futile without the Devil, a witch, and the permission of
God (Kramer and Sprenger 12). In the modern text RELIGIOUS: Witches, not what you d
expect, Meagan Bolds argues that a person can practice any religion or no religion and still be
referred to as a witch. The only condition for Bolds is that the person holds the ability to perform
magic of some sort (Bolds 1). Therefore, magic no longer stands as a burden to society. Instead,
Bolds thinks of magic as a right (Bolds 1). This

8. Sales Over The Past Three Years Essay
Sales over the past three months have shown a significant decline. The focus of this decline seems
to be driven by two factors. The first is the rollout out of the new power cleaning supplies that we
recently launched. As the leader in industrial cleaning supplies, we ve come to expect that new
products automatically relate to increased sales. Our growth over the past ten years has proven this.
The second challenge impacting sales are the sales people. Currently 50% of the sales staff has
less than one year s sales experience. Their lack of knowledge on the depth of our products is
working against us. While we do an excellent job in screening for new sales staff, the volume of
data related to what we sell can be overwhelming to newer employees.
New Products
The New Products division has maintained a high level of success with each rollout of our new
cleaning products. Their ability to create and sell our products each time is second to none. As
part of this success, I believe they ve come to expect it. With their winning track record, it is easy
to see how anyone could fall into this thought process. By being the industry leader, it is our
responsibility to identify future sales opportunities and pursue them. To address the issue of falling
sales as it relates to this team, I recommend we implement the Key Problem Solving Strategies as
identified by John Adair (2013), with the goal being to change the thought process on new product
roll out. The three keys to this are

9. Bob Ross Research Paper
Bob Ross was a painter, focusing mostly on landscapes using a wet on wet style, and is most well
known for his series The Joy Of Painting, and is still making ripples in the artist community today,
about 23 years after his death. Many people still watch his tutorials via YouTube or Twitch, and
even though Ross has long since passed, he will never truly die.
Bob Ross was born on October 29th, 1942, in Daytona Beach, Florida, and raised in Orlando. Bob
had one sibling, a brother named Jim. Ross would later enter the military, mentioning in one
episode of The Joy Of Painting that I was the guy who makes you scrub the latrine, the guy who
makes you make your bed, the guy who screams at you for being late to work , and that he was
fed up with it, saying that he promised himself that, if he ever got away, he would never raise his
voice again. This time in the military, though, was essential to his art career. Stationed in Alaska, he
developed his wet on wet style, allowing him to paint landscapes in around half an hour, saying
that I used to go home at lunch and do a couple while I had my sandwich. I d take them back that
afternoon and sell them. Bob quickly realized that he could make more money selling paintings,

11. Isolation And Characterization Of Human Umbilical Cord...
Summary of:
Isolation and Characterization of Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells with
Hematopoiesis supportive Function and Other Potentials (Lu et al. 2006)
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are fibroblast like structural cells that are found in bone marrow,
skeletal muscle, and other connective tissues. MSC derived from bone marrow (BM) have been
shown to be self renewing and are capable of differentiation into a variety of stromal cell types
including bone forming osteoblasts, fat storing adipocytes, and neurons. Another trait exhibited
by BM MSC is their supportive role in hematopoiesis (blood genesis). This behavior has been
utilized to enhance efficacy of co transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC). BM MSC
are gathered using painful procedures in which penetrating bone to access the marrow. This article
investigates the umbilical cord (UC) as a source of MSC and compares the cells gathered in this
manner with BM MSC. Previous methods for obtaining UC MSC involved extracting the cells
from the single vein found on the umbilical cord. This method was met with 30% success with this
group. A new method involving the use of the whole cord was created and attempted. This method
was then compared to the traditional practice to isolate MSC, through bone marrow aspiration. The
research group did this by dicing the cord into 1 2 mm fragments and enzymatically digesting said
fragments in collagenase and trypsin. The cell suspension was then filtered and cultured

12. Essay about Socrates vs Gilgamesh
Joe Arce 19 Sept 2011 Socrates Vs. Gilgamesh Socrates view of death in the Phaedo, Crito, and
Apology is complex. His argument tries to prove that philosophers, of all people, are in the best
state to die or will be in the best state after life because of the life they lead. Socrates views are
sharply contrasted in The Epic of Gilgamesh. In fact, he would probably say that Gilgamesh had
not lived the proper kind of life and his views of life, and death would lead to an unsettled
existence in the afterlife. Socratesview of death, from his opinions on the act of dying, the state of
the soul after death, and the fear of death, differs from that of The Epic of Gilgamesh to the extent
that Socrates would refute every belief about death... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enkidu s death is the consequence of insulting the Gods. Socrates would disagree with the belief
that death is a punishment from the Gods for several reasons. In the Phaedo, he claims that the true
lover of wisdom, that is the philosopher, must escape from the body and observe matters in
themselves with the soul by itself (Plato 103). So, since death is the separation of the soul from
the body, only at death can we gain true wisdom. He says, Wisdom itself is a kind of cleansing .
. . he who arrives [in the underworld] purified and initiated will dwell with the gods (Plato 106).
Evidently, if the soul can only attain wisdom from death and if that wisdom leads to
purification, which assures you a place with the gods, then Socrates would disagree with The
Epic of Gilgamesh that death is a punishment from the gods. This evidence leads us to a look at
the contrasting views of an afterlife. In the Phaedo, Socrates explains how the soul exists in the
afterlife through the use of two main theories, the theory of opposites and the theory of
recollection. It is important to note that he also draws a connection between the soul and wisdom
as a rationalization for his belief in an afterlife, saying, When the soul investigates by itself it
passes into the realm of what is pure, ever existing, immortal and unchanging . . . its experience
then is what we call wisdom (Plato 118). By relating the two he can

13. The Representation Of Gender Masculinity
The representation of gender in a masculine context in New Zealand is constructed through
hegemonic constructions formed through colonisation. Due to being constructed by this dominant
ideology, which in terms of a New Zealand context is Pakeha and male (Hegemony), the
construction of masculinity appears natural. This hegemonic masculinity is so naturalised it
becomes invisible and we don t see or think about it. Law, R (1997) states that The concept of
hegemonic masculinity allows for us to theorise the simultaneous existence of different
constructions of masculinity, the social dominance of some constructions and their legitimation as
natural and the fluid and contested character of all constructions of genderPakeha men are the
hegemonic masculinity in a New Zealandcontext, they have social dominance over women and the
Maori, even though they are same gender as Maori men due to colonization they are repressed in
terms of dominance.
Masculinity is ideological; it is embedded in culture and constructs gender. One is born as a sex,
either female or male, which then leads to a representation of there gender, as in if you re a man it is
being masculine and a female being feminine, these expectations of gender have been embedded
in society and determine traits and qualities that represent the two genders. This means we have to
act in a certain way to show our gender or to be considered masculine or feminine and if you don t
fit into to these stereotypes, it can effect

Elaine Gilligan Whelan, RNC, MA, MSN
ABSTRACT
Curriculum design in nursing education has become an increasingly sophisticated process
throughout the past decade. Theories of nursing have emerged, and have become the basis for
various curricula models. One model which is relevant to nursing education, practice and research,
is that of Dorothea Orem. Nurse educators are constantly bombarded with material regardmg
various nursing theories. Each nurse educator would benefit by having some familiarity with the
models of the major theorists of our day. Dorothea Orem s theory is the basis for numerous

Regarding potentiality as a system component, one could say that, according to Orem, man has the
potential to develop the skills and motivation necessary for selfcare and care of dependent family
members (Orem, 1980. pp. 35 116).
Evaluation of the Model
General Criteria: Self care theory is abstract to the degree that it is applicable to persons of all
ages regardless of degree of wellness. An aspect of self care is considered to be dependent care
which expands the degree of application ofthe model. The concepts in the theory of self care are
delineated in terms of sub components and recognizable attributes. The definitions ofthe major
constructs and their interrelationships enable one to explain, within the boundaries of the model,
the relationship between the patient s self care abilities and level of wellness, the relationship
between diminished self care abilities and the need for nursing support and the relationships among
nursing agency, patient agency, therapeutic self care demands and maximizing self care abilities.
Probably, one of the attractions Orem s theory has for many nurses is its utility in practice. This is
highly

entrance lines. According to managers of the park patrons have been giving conflicting data as to
which is actually having a problem. Some say that US is slower than IoA where others disagree
and claim IoA is indeed the slower of the parks. To get to the truth behind the issue we conducted an

The first study was conducted at the ticket booths of both parks, to find the average time spent
purchasing tickets between groups of people. As shown in Figure 1, for the Universal Studios
ticket purchasing booths, 26 groups were observed and of these groups, 30 were male, 25 were
female, and 15 were children. Purchasers are classified as which gender initiated communicating
between group and ticket seller. The findings show that of the 26 groups, 15 had males
purchasing the tickets with an average time of 184.46 seconds, or 3:04.46 minutes. 11 groups
had female purchasing tickets with an average time of 135.07 seconds, or 2:15.07 minutes. The
average time for all groups to purchase tickets at Universal Studios, disregarding gender, was
163.56 seconds, or 2:43.56 minutes. As shown in Figure 2, for Islands of Adventure ticket
purchasing booths, 43 groups were observed and of these groups, 47 were male, 34 were female,
and 44 were children. The findings show that of the 43 groups, 28 had males purchasing the
tickets with an average time of 80.42 seconds. 15 groups had females purchasing the tickets with
an average time of 95.17 seconds. The average time for all groups to purchase tickets at Islands of

18. A Rational Review Of The Information Available From Social...
A rational review of the information available from social research on the subject of polygamy
starts with the study of polygamous relationships found in nature. In nature, polygamy is usually
the result of three factors: 1) the scarcity of the male species (polygyny); 2) the need for healthy
partners to propagate the species in societies where disease or lack of food is a concern; 3) the
desire for a partner of higher wealth and/or status. (Golden) In humans, hunter gatherer and tribal
societies have typically been polygamous for all three of these reasons but in our western culture
these justifications are rarely relevant. Regarding the first point, in most cultures in our world
today (excepting the Chinese where population control has skewed the balance), the population is
evenly balanced between men and women, especially in Western cultures. Regarding the need to
mate with a healthier specimen, in Western culture, sickness and disease strike the sexes more or
less equally. The third factor, the desire for a partner of higher wealth and/or status, is still relevant
but the advantages of a polygamous relationship to a wealthy or powerful partner do not
necessarily outweigh a more satisfying relationship to a less powerful partner in a monogamous
relationship. It s a matter of choice.
How does rule of law view polygamy and how have they justified its elimination through the legal
process?

This is none so more apparent than in the United States where a strange phenomenon is beginning

technology exploding at an unprecedented rate. Nowadays people find the ease of staying at

21. Child Prostitution in Asia
Child Prostitution in Asia In ancient times, children were viewed as smaller versions of adults.
There was little perceptible difference between an adult and their younger counterparts. By the
Middle Ages and up until the Renaissance, girls as young as twelve were still considered
marriageable age. Sexualizing children was a form of their education and indoctrination into the
world of adults. However, in the modern time, we have come to understand that children and
childhood is a time for innocence and development. The historical adulteration of children was
rightly seen as barbaric and archaic. Forcing children into adult roles can lead to a destructive
adulthood. Physical and emotional abuse of children can destroy someone. Even worse is the type
of abuse characterized by sexual activity and sexual interaction with children. The sexual abuse of
children leads to abnormal development and an adult with severe mental problems, prone to
violence and often continuing the chain of abuse into subsequent generations. Forcing a child to
commit sexual acts before they are physically or mentally mature enough to handle it is the worst
kind of crime. Yet, in nations all over the world, this kind of abuse not only occurs, but is a
profitable business for perpetrators. Child prostitutionis illegal all over the world, but in some
countries the laws against child prostitution and the use of underage people for sexual interactions

The phrase we are a product of our pasts has no import towards the future our future. Rather, this
phrase addresses disparities in the world through the examination of past human actions. Within
these examinations are the answers to how societies should refrain from regulating the modern
world in order to promote the survival of the future. The most prominent results of neglecting
history have begun to crystallize, and there is no foreseeable platform to relieve this cancerous
consequence. That said, global climate change threatens to take a malignant hold over this planet,
as exemplified by its impending devastation to the island nations of the Pacific. Within the next ten

Though the analysis of history may bring repressed horrors to light, its scrutiny by new generations
will manifest the appropriate blueprints for mobilization towards urgent change; it simply takes
courage to acknowledge the obligation in reshaping the modern world. The United States of
America must provide the necessary aid to the Republic of the Marshall Islands in their efforts at
mitigating the deleterious effects of climate change through provisions concerning refuge and
overall relief due to the destructive colonial past and modern imperial presence of the U.S. in the
RMI.
The American Colonial Past in the Republic of the Marshall Islands
The most telling evidence in mapping out the U.S. geopolitical obligations to the RMI is the fact
that, in the span of a decade, beginning in 1946, the U.S. tested around seventy nuclear weapons in
the Marshall Islands. Stuart Kirsch, professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan and
research collaborator at University of Cambridge, Manchester, and Yale, argues the significance of
these nuclear tests in his journal (name of article). Kirsch calls upon examples of court cases where
the Marshallese people fought for reparations from global forces responsible for not only
environmental devastation, but also the resultant withering away of Marshallese culture through
the pervasive impositions of globalization. Through analyzing the

23. The Meaning of Silence and Meditation
Christian spiritual writings are texts that help us connect to our spirituality and they also hold
various themes or messages. Some recurring themes that have been uncovered from a number of
texts are; meditation, silence, connecting to God and spirituality. Two themes that are fundamental
are silence and meditation. In meditation we find silence difficult but this is a factor that we need to
work on because it is very important. A hypothesis has been created that will assist in critiquing and
evaluating four Spiritual Writings in their attempt to finding the mystery of God. Contemporary
Christian spirituality writings suggest that deep meditation and silence are fundamental to us in
order to search for the mystery of God. The next four paragraphs will talk about for authors and the
articles they have created. These articles will be evaluated on their attempt to explain that silence
and meditation, help us search for the mystery of God. The four authors that will be critiqued are
Laurence Freeman, Cynthia Bourgeaults, John Main and Richard Rohr.
The first resource was created by Laurence Freeman. He has created 2 articles that talk about the
Silence of the Soul and The First Sight: The Experience of Faith. In both of his texts Laurence
Freeman writes about how silence is fundamental to finding God and that meditation is how we can
connect with God. He believes that many people are afraid of silence, which restricts their
connection with God. Laurence Freeman is a Catholic

studied met the criteria of the DSM IV for oppositional defiant disorder. However, the studies
vary based on criteria used, how many participants were studied, and how old the participants

25. Jefferson Vs Hamilton Research Paper
During Hamilton s time as the secretary of the treasury, he envisioned how America could become
the greatest country in the future. Hamilton sorted out a couple of brilliant ideas on how America
could become a more wealthy country. Unlike his friend colleague Jefferson, Hamilton s ideas
were to come out of the ordinary life and strive for greatness while Jefferson s ideas encouraged
farmers to continue their daily jobs and enjoy their freedom. During the era of competing visions of
the future, Hamilton published three reports in which he explained how his brilliant ideas would
lead America to become the wealthy powerful nation he once envisioned. These reports included

During this era, agriculture dominated the economy since most of the goods that were being bought
in the United States were made in other European nations mostly England. Even though there were
some manufactures in America, the industrial sector was still small. Hamilton proposed for the
government to encourage manufacturing because he believed that manufactures would help build
the economy of the states in many ways. He believed that manufacturing would increase
productivity of the states through the use of machines. He also believed that by encouraging
manufacturing it would create more jobs for the unemployed such as women and children. In
order for the economy to improve, America had to compete with foreign imports. This caused
Hamilton to come up with the idea to impose tariffs on foreign imports making American
products more competitive in the market. This idea of manufacturing appeared to be great to
some but not to others like Jefferson. Jefferson believed that agriculture should be encouraged
instead of manufacturing as seen on the picture of the Medal of the Philadelphia Society for the
Promotion of Agriculture in which a man is seen working his land with a plough. Some of
Hamilton s ideas were enacted by government including tariffs on the foreign goods. The rest of
Hamilton s plans and ideas were seen ignored but would later serve to promote the

women. For instance, in season 2 episode 13 a producer refers to Temperance as a feminist
crusader out to ruin the all American fun! while getting close, she punches him and states Self
defense; he assaulted me. Sully, her colleague, responds Yes, he did. Dr.Temperance Brennan
also argues on how producers view women as objects as seen in figure 3. She is also very
independent and makes it clear she does not belong to anyone (see Figure 4). Temperance is an
independent woman who makes it clear on several occasions that she challenges the gender norms.
The second main character is Seeley Booth a typical FBI agent. Booth embodies all norms of
masculinity to which men strive and does not challenge the hegemonic male. He is depicted as a
tough guy. As James lull describes in hegemony is the power or dominance that one social group
hold over others (Lull,1995). Booth is male dominance over women, and his gut holds more

has saved the day on many occasions. Seeley Booth is always seen as the hero of the show even

dominance over Dr. Brennan. The voice of reason is always Agent Booth, despite the fact

Organization pattern: Cause and effect.
Introduction:
I.(Attention getter): When you look at yourself in a dirty mirror; can you see your image very
well? No. The same occurs when the sun rays reflect on the sea and that reflection can t be released
into the space because gasses in the atmosphere block their exit causing the planet to get warmer.
II.Climate change is how the weather has changed in a specific area over a given period of time
usually 30 years. That means that changes in the weather could be variable or extreme depends
on the region you are. We are seeing these changes every year as the seasons change; I.e. Usually
we compare the weather of the season this year and the weather of the season from the past year.
III.According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Climate change
encompasses global warming, it refers to the broad range of changes that are happening to our
planet. That means the reason of Climate Change is because the planet is getting warmer and this

Imagine if you were the captain on the Titanic and it was just struck by an iceberg. Your

and it delayed help. 1,000 lives were lost and the act of 1912 was born. In the early days of radio,
radio was poorly regulated and created chaos. In the early days, the radio industry was in chaos
due to poor regulations and uncontrolled rapid growth. The Radio Act of 1912 was an
unsuccessful attempt at regulation because it didn t allow the government to deny radio

The electronic system has cost the airport a lot of expenses in designing and installing, after its

long time spent while opening the airport lead to the extra cost. Some of the most significant are:
lack of enough time allowed to develop the system properly, the business requirements of the airline

scale and also those making key decision undervalued the difficulty involved leading to failure of
the project (Montealegre, R., Keil, M., 2000).

Eating disorders are a serious mental illness, not a choice or lifestyle preference. Everyone has
their daily battles and life struggles, some more distressing than others and some severe, like Pica
disorder. Pica is an eating disorder when people have an abnormal appetite and consume
nonnutritive substances including dirt, stones, hair, feces, lead, light bulbs, and much more.
Because individuals suffering with Pica are driven to eat unconceivable things, this disorder
commonly leads to many medical issues. Many doctors believe Pica to be a derivative of some
mental ailment but there are other factors that can lead to this disorder. Thus, Pica disorder is
caused by a combination of psychological, environmental, and biochemical factors. There are many

who hold the legends and historyof Africa, and orally pass them down father to son through the

As this legend is so well known, and has been told so many times, it is difficult to separate fact

time an oral tradition, told by the griots to the villages and cities they lived in. The original griot
of the story lived it, and although the epic has most likely been added to for dramatic effect over
the centuries, the original tale must have been much closer to the truth. There is some doubt
however over the legitimacy of some parts of the story. In the epic Sundiata and his main rival
Soumaoro, are accomplished sorcerers (particularly Soumaoro), as well as other women magicians
in the story. It is in fact very unlikely that Sundiata and Soumaoro communicated by familiars

in this case Soumaoro s owl), or that Soumaoro was invincible for their first couple battles, Nor is

I hope to find the concentration of a solution where the chip stays the same mass and length, which
will tell me that the water potential inside the cells is the same as the water potential outside the
cells.

membranes are permeable to water but impermeable to certain dissolved substances. In the case of

I will measure the length and cross sectional area for each chip.
o Time the chip is left in the solution I think that if I were to leave the chips in the solution for
only a small amount of time there might not be sufficient time for the osmosis to occur, so that the
chips would not differ in size enough for conclusive results. Therefore, I will need to give a good
amount of time for the osmosis to occur.
o Temperature I believe that all reactions happen quicker when there is a higher temperature, so
diffusion across the membrane may be faster at higher temperature.
o Concentration of sucrose solution I think that the lower the concentration of the external sucrose
solution, the more the chip will expand (because the cells become turgid).
o Total Volume of sucrose solution I think that changing the volume of sucrose solution may affect
the results of my investigation.
Variable I will change:
I will change the concentration of sucrose solution in my experiment, because I believe the results
of that experiment will tell me the water potential of the potato cells.

I will carry out all my experiments at the same temperature, 20В°C, because that is room
temperature, and I will not have to heat up anything. I will cut my chips to the same dimensions

Kumar and Michandani want marketers to identify social media users who are both influential and

to talk about the company s product or service. Use metrics to calculate the value of an individual

campaign. The authors suggest that by developing and implementing this seven step method to first
identify the net influence wielded by a user in a social network and then to predict that user s
ability to generate the viral spread of information, businesses can identify the right individuals to
engage in social media conversations to promote WOM. Further, they found that by linking the
generated WOM to actual sales, social media can be used to induce positive WOM, spread brand
knowledge, generate sales and increase return on investment. (Kumar and Michandandi, 2012)

These variable expenses contribute to the high variety cost structure.
Motors carriers are classified in manner as truckload and less than truck load. Less than truck load

From dealing with outrageous adult behavior to literally growing up too quickly, Alice slowly
ventures nearer and nearer to the adulthood and maturity that awaits here. However, she does not
need to leave her imagination behind her, in reality that is one of the few things she can never

older sister reminisces about her own childhood and, for a brief moment, ventures herself into
the wonderful world of Wonderland. Yet it is possible that the original story, the one orally
presented to Alice Liddell, was simply for amusement as Lewis Carroll actually added several
tales to the transcribed version of his fanciful tale. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland serves two
purposes. First, it amuses younger readers, taking them through the whimsical world of Alice s
imagination which is filled to the brim with kooky characters and odd organisms. However, it s
second purpose takes adults on a separate journey, a journey down memory lane. Adults can enjoy
a nostalgic ride through imagination with the emotional message of never being too old to

Reconciliation Action Plan The goals and visions behind my reconciliation action plan was to
bring the two sides of Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Australians together in equality and harmony.
Since the colonisation of Australia there has been a vast divide between the two sides that has
caused many serious outcomes for Aboriginal people. My way of contributing to this is to create a
better understanding, restore trust and eradicate racism as a positive way to help close the gap
between Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Australias. The reason for this report was to explain the
steps that were taken to create and implement this action plan and the outcomes. My three actions
were established to help carry out my vision of bringing together... Show more content on

For my first event I took a friend to a movie night hosted by the Notre Dame Student Association
and students from the Aboriginal People unit. They organised a free viewing a movie by John
Pilger called Utopia and a follow up survey. This extraordinary film gives a deep insight into the
First Australians struggles of harsh dispossession and the ongoing deaths and poverty. Pilger
puts the hard word on many members of the Australian government who are responsible for
many deaths, explorations, betrayals and breaches to Aboriginal peoples human rights. This
film was very moving and had a great impact on myself who had already studied a lot of this
content but seeing it again in a different way opened my eyes even more to the sadness and grief
suffered by Aboriginal people due to discrimination and lack of justice. As for my friend she was
greatly saddened and shocked by what she has seen. Coming from a very English background she
expressed feeling somewhat guilty about what had happened and how disappointed she was in the
Australian government on this matter. The movie inspired a lengthy conversation about the
importance of righting past wrongs for Aboriginal people and spreading awareness to her family
and friends. It was also interesting to discover that when moving to Australian from England in
2010 that she had noticed a great deal of racism towards

42. Were Ancient Egyptians Really Alone Essay
Ancient egyptian aliens, the whole subject seems pretty far fetched but is it really as out there as
we think it is? Archaeologists find evidence regularly at famous egyptian landmarks of
extraterrestrial presence. So much infact that it has lead scientists to wonder, were the ancient
egyptians really alone in the desert? What put the egyptians so far ahead of the the rest of the
world, with their structures and technology? Recent discoveries are showing that they not only
had control of advanced medicine, but they also had a sophisticated social structure. Many places
around the world have been shown with this advancement, a more popular example would be
Atlantis. With their advanced and highly valued metals, Atlantis was a hotspot for cultural mixing.
So if all of this happened and yet we still don t have any clear cut proof. Except for the pyramids.

How is all of this possible? Well considering that the pyramids are position in such a pattern only

43. Sensationalizing Criminal Activity in the Media
The media constantly reports on criminal activity and crime as a whole within our community in
which it has every right to do. However, the media often sensationalises crime in order to create
moral panic within the community, using it as a way to control how the public perceives current
community issues. Some people may be led to a blind acceptance of the reality of such
presentations as constructed by the media (Crime and Justice, 2012, Pg. 63)
Because a majority of the public have minimal experience with the judicial system, public
knowledge and views of law and the legal system are dependent on media representations (N.
Marder, 2001). General observation can quickly identify that the media almost always presents a
distorted view of the law. The relationship between law and media is very complex and constantly
evolving, however, it is clear that relatively few of us have experienced first hand the effects of
serious criminal violence. (Crime and Justice, 2012)
Our understanding of crime is predominantly derived from media and not from objective data, such
as real time crime statistics or victimisation surveys. This is very problematic to members of a jury
as it can be assumed that the majority of a jury have a distorted view of reality as Jurors are
drawn from the community at large, so it is only to be expected that jurors will reflect the general
social outlook and values of their communities. (Jurors 24/7, 2014)

44. Side Effects Of Cyber Bullying
Social media is a phrase that we throw around a lot these days, often to describe what we post on
sites and apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and others. The social part: refers to
interacting with other people by sharing information with them and receiving information from
them. The media part: refers to an instrument of communication, like the internet (while TV,
radio, and newspapers are examples of more traditional forms of media). Social media are web
based communication tools that enable people to interact with each other by both sharing and
consuming information. However, social media may have some side effects such as
cyberbullying, which may have negative impacts on the life of people, especially children and
teenagers. Cyberbullying can be defined as aggressive, intentional actions performed by an
individual or a group of people via digital communication methods such as sending messages and
posting comments against a victim. Different from traditional bullying that usually occurs at
school during face to face communication, cyberbullying on social media can take place anywhere
at any time. For bullies, they are free to hurt their peers feelings because they do not need to face
someone and can hide behind the Internet. For victims, they are easily exposed to harassment since
all of us, especially youth, are constantly connected to Internet or social media. As reported
cyberbullying victimization rate ranges from 10% to 40%. In the United States,

46. On How the American Indians Were Removed from Their Land
One by one Indian peoples were removed to the West. The Delaware, the Ottawa, Shawnee,
Pawnee and Potawatomi, the Sauk and Fox, Miami and Kickapoo, the Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek
and Seminole. In all some 90 thousand Indians were relocated. The Cherokee were among the last
to go. Some reluctantly agreed to move. Others were driven from their homes at bayonet point.
Almost two thousands of them died along the route they remembered as the Trail of Tears. For
decades, the state of Georgia sought to enforce its authority over the CherokeeNation, but its efforts
had little effect until the election of President Andrew Jackson, a longtime supporter of Indian
removal. In 1838 the U.S. government forced the Cherokee Indians out of their land... Show more

He was going to relocate the eastern tribes beyond the Mississippi River. Another President of
the United States, James Monroe, wrote a letter to Andrew Jackson that stated, I have long
viewed treaties with the Indians an absurdity not to be reconciled to the principles of our
government. The Choctaw relocation began in 1830, seven years later the Chickasaw were
removed. In 1836 the Creek were removed by force that was followed by the negotiations that
started in 1832. The Seminole removal triggered a 7 year war that ended in 1843. They had
been given 2 years to pack and move, and after the two years they would be moved by force. The
government sent 7,000 troops to start the moving process. The Indians were forced off their land
at bayonet point. They were not given any extra time to pack, they started loading and the whites
took their homes and lands as soon as they were gone. Being forced out of their land and to
another affected the Indians more than most people know. About four thousand Cherokee people
died on their way to the new land, some died of cold, hunger, or diseases. Some of the Indians later
committed arson and murder because of how hard it was for them to get over the treatment of their

On 25 March 2017, at 0220 hours in the City of Goddard, Officer Tabor was traveling Westbound
at the 20000 block of West Kellogg in his patrol vehicle. As he approached 20300 West Kellogg,
he decided that he would check the business lot. While slowing his vehicle and maneuvering it into
the right hand turn lane, he visually saw a small sized SUV type vehicle facing South at the stop
signof Main Street and West Kellogg. While executing his right hand turn, Officer Tabor s
headlights shined onto the drivers side and front interior of the vehicle stopped at the stop sign.
This facilitated Officer Tabor to visually see that the driver was not wearing their safety belt and
was instead leaned over the center console, presumebly looking at the cellular phone being held by
the front seat passenger.
As Officer Tabor continued to the Northern most part of Main Street in the City of Goddard, he
noticed with the aid of his driver s side mirror that the same vehicle was still sitting at a complete
stop at the stop sign of Main Street and Kellogg. This seemed to be abnormal behavior for just

African American History Month. It is an annual commemoration of achievements by African
Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in United States
history. Black History Month had its origins in 1915 when Dr. Cater G. Woodson and his
colleagues founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History ( African American
History Month, 2014). This organization is now known as the Association for the Study of
African American Life and History. Through this organization, Dr. Cater G. Woodson played the
greatest role in helping all Americans know the Black past by initiating Negro History Week in
Washington, D.C. in February 1926 (Bunch, 2012). Dr. Woodson selected the week in February
that included the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass due to the fact they
were key figures in the history of African Americans ( African American History Month, 2014).
According to Bunch (2012), Woodson believed that the black experience was too important
simply to be left to a small group of academics. Dr. Cater G. Woodson, a son of a slave, was born
in New Canton, Virginia on December 19, 1875 (Bellis, n.d.). Although he did not enter high
school until the age of 20, he continued to study at Berea College, the University of Chicago, the
Sorbonne, and Harvard University, where he earned a PhD in 1912 (Bellis, n.d.). During this time,

of dance events, clubs, and rock festivals in Belgium (Tina Van Havere). Their results found that
the respondents who used illegal drugs were 25 times more likely to report that they prefer

50. The American Dream Is Overrated Essay
The American Dream is overrated. Let s just face it, it is dead. Not only is this a dream that is
almost lusted after by many Americans, this is a widely desired illusion that is far out of reach
for most working class people. The American Dream is more than the lifestyle of white picket
fences that hold backyard barbecues with your neighbors. It s earning a living wage that creates a
comfortable quality of life, having the security of retirement, and giving your children the
opportunity to live a successful life. The American Dream doesn t run on magic and fairy dust,
it is fueled by hard earned American dollars, persistence, and hope. Most modern, working class
families can t expect to receive a reasonable income to cover things such as medical expenses and
emergencies. With that said, the stay at home parent trying to reach the goal of a perfect oasis is
even more taboo. It s hard to achieve this dream , when you re the only breadwinner in your
household. Parents can no longer live comfortably, and in some cases even survive, on one person
s income. The costs of homes, transportation, and education combined with incredibly low wages
often leaves families in a crippling financial situation, making it virtually impossible to, keep up
with the Jones s. Speaking realistically, most people live in the moment. We focus on things
happening in our lives now. Life itself is a constant quest for happiness and security in a world that

How Passion Drives the Romance for Science in the essay
Uncle Tungsten by Oliver Sacks
Oliver Sacks is a neurologist who is also known for being a storyteller В№. Aside from his career,
Sacks is a best selling author having written twelve books up to date, all bringing together science
and art ВІ. One of his earlier pieces is his essay Uncle Tungsten which combines passion and the
love for science. Uncle Tungsten is an essay that shows how passion drives the romance for
science, romance being the strong fascination and enthusiasm for science, a love affair . Oliver
Sacks uses narration to present the idea of romance for science through characters, the concept of a
hero, and an ending that provides a lesson learned.

Tungsten, which was Dave s favorite metal. Not only did Scheele s discoveries make him a hero
for Dave, but also his dedication to his work without wanting the fame and money. Sacks s use of
a hero also demonstrates an example of how passion drives romance for science Scheele
epitomized for me the romance of science (Sacks 219). Scheele was wholly dedicated to his single
passion, chemistry (Sacks 219) which shows his strong, lifelong fascination and enthusiasm for
chemistry presenting Sack s idea of romance for science.
Narrative essays typically end with some kind of lesson learned Ві, in addition to being a hero ,
Scheele also provides a lesson which leads oliver to discovering his own romance for science.
Lessons generate a new knowledge or wisdom, which is commonly used to conclude a story and
relates to the main point of the entire essay. Sack s uses this approach to conclude his essay in a
narrative way while summing up his main idea of romance for science. Scheele was a hero for
uncle Dave and also impressed Oliver with his generosity and discoveries which really had an
impacts on Oliver s newfound love for chemistry. After learning about Scheele, Oliver had come to
a conclusion that he wanted to be a chemist just like Scheele I wanted to be a chemist. A chemist

technology especial Internet skills, computer has become an important part of human life. On the
same time, there are more and more attacks appearing. Hackers attempt to explore the
vulnerability of the host to gain unauthorized access privilege and make unauthorized use.
However, no all attack can be considered as an incident. Attacks can be classified as incidents only
if they meet the following characteristics (Torres, Alissa. Aug, 2014): 1) Access information assets
directly 2) Have a high confidence of success 3) Can threat the confidentiality, integrity, or

However, most advanced attack has the ability to hide their trails. The critical attack evidence may
be removed when the attack is finished. Because incident response is a passive method, it gives
attacker some time to hide themselves. Therefore, nowadays, traditional incident response policy is
beginning to lose the data collection ability. (Alberto, Camilli and Isabel, Chagas. Apr 12,2007)
2.Attack information is the best material for further identification. However, as we said before,
passive incident response policy cannot collection enough attack details, it causes the disability of
the further identification. Worse identification means giving more time for attacker to hide the
critical information which cause worse information collection. In sum, passive incident response
may suffer a vicious cycle of identification and information collection. In my opinion, this vicious
cycle is the biggest problem of the traditional incident response. 3. Most incident response do not
have enough protection method. The main purpose of such incident response policy is reducing the
attack damage and recovering the system. However, for some critical system such as programming
database, financial support system, even a small damage may cause huge loss. For such systems, a

The protection of citizens lives, foreign or domestic, is a critical necessity. As a result, the military
is the most important organization in a country. In America, for instance, $598 billion is spent each
year on the military ( Federal ). Because this is such an expensive, important, and dangerous topic, it
is often debated. One of the most common arguments is whether or not America s militarypresence
is necessary overseas. Due to its foreign benefits, positive domestic effects, and overall creation of
World Peace, the negative side of the argument is outweighed. America s military presence in
foreign countries is necessary. First of all, any war that could occur would most likely be kept in
foreign nations. On September 11, 2001,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a hostile action did take place, it will also contain most acts of terrorism, violence, and even wars
in the foreign countries that are responsible for them. As a result, the citizens of America would
be able to live carefree lives. In addition to foreign affairs, a domestic military presence can be
used to support a foreign military presence. Many natural disasters occur each year in the United
States, and it is important to help those in need. One of the worst natural disasters in America s
history was Hurricane Katrina. By the time Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005, America s
military was mobilizing for emergency response (Berthelot). The most important benefit of this is
the fact that soldiers save many lives from floodwaters, earthquake shaken regions, and even areas
scorched by wildfires. The military has equipment that regular citizens do not, and this is
demonstrated by the lowered casualty statistics. In addition, the military often helps to rebuild
structures and get the region back on its feet. As a result, individuals are able to continue to enjoy
their lives. The same effects of a domestic presence would occur as a result of a foreign presence.
Foreign citizens would be able to continue their lives even after disasters. America s military also
helps with domestic hostile occurrences. Recently, Ferguson consistently experienced riots and
violence due to the shooting of an African American. The

55. Police Enforcement And Police Officers
It is widely known that police officers are given a substantial amount of latitude concerning
vehicular searches while on patrol. Many officers make it a habit to ask citizens they pull over if
it s okay to search their cars, while others will only ask if they have reason to believe that a suspect
is hiding something. Either way, what should you do if the policesearch your car without your
permission, and without first obtaining a search warrant? Most people know that police officers need
one of three things to search your car: permission, probable cause or a warrant. Unfortunately, an
officer will obtain one of those three things if he is determined to execute a search, even if there
is a possibility that it will later be thrown out in court. If permission is denied and they don t have
sufficient evidence for a warrant, just about anything can be used for probable cause. For example,
let s say that you re pulled over for speeding, and when the police officertakes your license and
registration, he notices that your eyes are red. This is a common side effect of marijuana use
(and about a thousand other things), but he might decide that he wants to search your car, so he
asks permission. If you don t give it, but there is a large jacket tossed over the passenger seat of
the car, he can use that jacket and your red eyes to generate probable cause. After all, you might be
concealing an ounce of marijuana underneath the jacket, and he would have to search your car if he
