My Philosophy Of Parenting
As a parent of two toddlers, aged two and four, I found last week s lecture stimulating and
enlightening. Before having children I did not appreciate the genuine difficulty that parenting
propositions. I find a pronounced challenge in pinpointing the ideal parenting viewpoint.
Undoubtedly, my philosophy towards parentinghas an opposing impression than before my little
ones came along. Originally, I subscribed to the don t spoil them parenting attitude, an old school
approach that I currently oppose. I was familiar with a traditional parenting understanding brewed
from the guidance of trusted friends, family, and personal childhoodexperiences. My interpretation

The Unification Of Germany And Italy
The unification of Germany and Italy was centered around the belief of nationalism. Nationalism is
the belief that one s greatest loyalty should not be to a king or an empire but to a nation of people
who share a common culture and history. The nation will then become a nation state when it has its
independent government. Bonds that will create a nation state are nationality, language, culture,
and religion. Germanyand Italyboth went to drastic measures to unify their countries In 1815,
Italy as divides after the Congress of Vienna. Some provinces were still under Austrian rule such
as Venetia and Lombardy. The Spanish Bourbon family ruled the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies
while the Pope controlled the Papal States. Seeing the separation of states, Mazzini, Garibaldi, and
Cavour made advancements towards unifying the country. Mazzini formed a nationalist group
called Young Italy. He called for an end to foreign rule and the unification of Italy based on the
common language and culture of the people. This movement was called the risorgimento. This
plan failed and the former rules of Italian states drove Mazzini and other nationalist leaders into
exile. Next came Garibaldi who was the leader of the Red Shirts. They were volunteers who
followed Garibaldi in Southern Italy. This nationalist group was successful in gaining control of
Sicily in 1860. He then crossed into the mainland and marched north. After Garibaldi took complete
control of Southern Italy, the people voted to

Old Testament
During the first century A.D. the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, and the Nationalist all lived in
Palestine. Something that all these groups had in common was that they were all Jewish, however,
most did not identify themselves with any of these groups. Even though all these groups were
jewish, their definition and perception of the messiah were all different. Each group also dealt with
Roman rule differently, which cause a lot of problems. A big portion of the scribes, during the 1st
century were Pharisees. The Pharisees were the on who interpreted and enforced the law, along with
the traditions. According to Mark 7:5, one of the charges against Jesus, along with one of His
disciples, was that that they had violated tradition (Mark... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was conflict with the Pharisees because the Sadducees felt that their official roles in the
Temple gave them the power to make official interpretations of the Law as opposed to the
Pharisees lay interpretation (Robinson, 1986). The third religious party of Jews in Palestine in the
1st century were the Essenes. Within the Essenes, there were different divisions. The Qumran
Essenes are best known from the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in 1947. Since the
Essenes tended to be more strict that the Pharisees and did believe that some of the traditions
were valid. The Essenes, along with the Pharisees, possessed a hatred towards the Romans and
played a big role in the first Jewish revolt. The Essenes did not believe that the priesthood of the
Sadducees was for real. Likewise, the Essenes believed that the time of the messiah was near and
that after the messiah had established the new kingdom, they would be restored as legitimate
priests (Robinson, 1986). The final group of people, were the Nationalist. The Nationalists tended
to be very patriotic and devoted themselves to national liberty for the Jewish people. After the
revolt, the were later called Zealots. The Zealot beliefs mostly aligned with the Pharisees and were
believed to be an offshoot of the group. The Nationalists resisted the Roman rule of the Jews. One
branch of the Zealots/Nationalists was responsible for assassinations and terrorism that was directed

Primark Effective Communication Essay
INTRODUCTION:
Research has proved that effective communication alone has a positive effect on customer
satisfaction with services. This will, therefore, have a positive impact on future inspection ratings
and future progress. Communication is an important tool in driving forward change, both cultural
and procedural. The
Communication Strategy is separated into two sections; External Communication, and Internal
Communication.

Other problems are endemic to the organization itself, either caused by a breakdown in
communications by management to employees, or the lack of the proper systems and infrastructure
to enable effective exchange of information.
Here are some tips which can help sorting out the problem of communication with in
Primark.
Personal contact
In this age of electronic communication, far too many managers use email as a substitute for
personal interaction. Personal contact is key to interpreting a person s character and reactions and
establishing commonality often choose to manage by email even when workers are in offices a
few steps away.
Establish Clarity
When you give instructions or discuss a business situation, do not assume that everyone
understands you. Ask whether you have been clear or if further information or explanation is
necessary.
Give Meaningful feedback
Performance evaluation is a valuable communications tool, do not limit feedback to a once a year
event. Provide continuing, constructive, on the job evaluations focusing on situations as they arise,
while they are still fresh in everyone s memory. Do not forget to highlight the positive as well as the
negative.
Find the time.

What Is The Juxtaposition Of Light And Dark
Dark and light, good and evil, joy and sadness, real and imaginary: these are the ideas that iconic
Belgian painter RenГ© Magritte, and other surrealist artists like him, strived to arouse in the minds
of their viewers. Magritte s work features supernatural, often unsettling images which play with the
imagination and confuse the mind. As part of the surrealist movement, Magritte s purpose behind
his paintings was to intrigue people, make them think about the subconscious mind, and to blur
the lines between reality and dreams. In his famous painting, L Empire des lumiГЁres, or The
Empire of Light, a bright, blue, daytime sky full of white clouds appears over a darkened street, a
lonely house, and a thick cover of trees, all shown to be under the... Show more content on

The juxtaposition of light and dark in The Empire of Light may represent the contrast of
everyday elements and ideas present in the world around us. As explained by Michael Glover,
night and day are present simultaneously. This is unnerving, the simultaneity of daylight and
darkness. It disturbs us visually and morally. Can light co habit with darkness, good with evil?
Well, yes, man is such a patchwork creature of light and dark, the will to do good, the propensity
to choose evil (Glover, para. 3). At first the main effect this painting has on the observer is
confusion; night and day cannot exist together in the same place at the same time, after all.
After observing it in more detail, though, many symbols and themes begin to arise. Considering
the contrast between light values used, the day and night in this image could represent the
clichГ© symbols of good and evil, or joy and sadness, respectively. Just as both times of day are
present in this painting, so are these emotions and traits present in everyday life; they exist
always and everywhere. By analyzing not only the painting itself, but the title as well, this theme
becomes more apparent. Several versions of its title exist due to translation issues, and many
refer to this piece as The Dominion of Light instead. This could mean that the light portrayed in
this painting is dominating the darkness, because of its placement above the shadow, and, in fact,
it is showing the dominion of light over darkness or purity over corruption. This piece shows the
power that good has over evil, or that joy has over sadness, while portraying both of the latter as
an impenetrable veil of darkness and the former as the bright clarity of the sky. The use of light
sources and contrast between value in The Empire of Light contributes to this theme of light and
dark, purity and wickedness, or joy and sadness. This interpretation also

The Effects Of Beauty Standards On Body Image
The Effects of Beauty Standards
Understanding the effects of beauty standards to both men and women requires research of both
sexes and different orientations in regard to the influence the media has on them. While cultural
standards contribute to beauty standards, media carries most of the responsibility for swaying
public opinion of attractiveness. In order to find an answer as to why certain beauty standards
currently exist, one must examine the root cause: media.
Literature Reviewed
First Group of Studies Media and Body Image. In order to prevent continued negative effects on
body image by the media, it has been suggested that images that have been changed need to have
labels to prevent body dissatisfaction (Slater et al., 2012). Wang et al. (2010) provided evidence
that both men and women attempt to appear like the people portrayed in magazines. Men were
influenced by health and sports magazines, whereas women attempted to look like the models in
entertainment and fashion magazines (Wang, 2010). Participants in the Slater et al. (2012) study
showed that warning labels may help prevent the negative effects of media images, as they portray
an unrealistic ideal for the human body (Slater et al., 2012; Wang, 2010).
Second Groups of Studies Body Dissatisfaction. The development of removing pubic hair is caused
by body dissatisfaction, which relates to one s choice, physical attractiveness, and other key themes
(Braun et al., 2013). Originally a norm for Anglo/Western

Why Is Leonardo Da Vinci Considered An Honorable Man
In the dictionary honor is defined as high respect or esteem. I believe that honor is doing
something that helps other people even though it may not benefit them. Leonardo da Vinci was
a very honorable man. He was honorable because his work was truly ground breaking and
helped many people but he did not receive any prestigious awards because in his time they did
not have awards for scientific discoveries. He brought us out of the dark ages and gave us a head
start on where we are today. He was the first person to ever actually start asking questions instead
of just following the crowd ( Leonardo da Vinci| Renaissance Man | Scientist ). He, even for the

Teething Pain
Teething is the process by which an infant s teeth sequentially appear by breaking through the
gums. Even through teething is a normal part of infant development, surprisingly little is known
about the causes and management of teething signs and symptoms.Teething pain is the commonest
symptom associated with the eruption of the primary dentition. The eruption of primary teeth
usually begins around 4 8 months of age with the eruption of lower incisors and is complete at
around 30 36 months of age when second primary molars erupt.
Teething pain sometimes referred to as dentitio difficilis is the commonest symptom associated with
the eruption of primary dentition. Adults assume an infant is experiencing pain because they
appear distressed, or because they believe the incisal edges of teeh cut through the alveolar bone
and gingival during eruption. Pain may result from elevation of inflammatory mediators in the
crevicular fluid and in tissue surrounding the erupting teeth, which stimulate nociceptive
receptors.Local pain may be further exacerbated by rubbing or scratching the gingival tissues, by

is used to evaluate U.S. military tactics: Successes on the battlefield petered out due to a

His narrative begins well before American forces set foot in Vietnam, delving into French

American war, ranging from the overthrow of Ngo Dinh Diem and the impact of the Tet Offensive
to Nixon s expansion of the war into Cambodia and Laos, and the final peace agreement of 1973.
Finally, Lawrence examines the aftermath of the war, from the momentous liberalization Doi Moi
in Vietnam to the enduring legacy of this infamous war in American books, films, and political
debate.

The June 2011 total eclipse
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow).
This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in syzygy ) exactly, or very
closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full
moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon s location relative to its orbital
nodes. Unlike a solar eclipse, which can only be viewed from a certain relatively small area of the
world, a lunar eclipse may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of the Earth. A lunar eclipse
lasts for a few hours, whereas a total solar eclipse lasts for only a few minutes at any given place,

Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and the small particles,
and so by the time the light has passed through the atmosphere, the longer wavelengths dominate.
This resulting light we perceive as red. This is the same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to
turn the sky a reddish color; an alternative way of considering the problem is to realize that, as
viewed from the Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind the Earth.
The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the atmosphere; this
also controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier the atmosphere, the more that
other wavelengths of light will be removed (compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a
deeper red color. This causes the resulting coppery red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse
to the next. Volcanoes are notable for expelling large quantities of dust into the atmosphere, and a
large eruption shortly before an eclipse can have a large effect on the resulting color.
Danjon scale
The following scale (the Danjon scale) was devised by AndrГ© Danjon for rating the overall

Manifest destiny was the idea that the citizens of the United States had a God given right to extend
their way of life from the Atlantic to the Pacific and that no physical barrier or human force could

United States citizens. The expansion into new territories across the continent was a direct link in

The U.S. has been dealing with issues the country s face such as national debt and also budget
deficit over many years. Money is not the problem when it comes to budget being squared away
strategically. There was a time when the budget became extremely high and implementing was
brought about from ideas of congress such as deficit control measures. Congress took it upon
themselves in 1985 to make many laws about national debt and budget deficit control measure.
This brings me to a quote I read out of the textbook, Between 1980 and 1993 budget deficits grew
steadily in dollar terms, and the nation debt tripled. Since 2003, the public debt has grown by
more than $500 billion each year; as July 2012, nominal U.S. GPD was $15,880 billion. (Amacher

The liver is a crucial part of our digestive system. It is loved in the epigastric and right
hypochondriac regions of the abdomen. A few of the many functions are storing glycogen and
processing proteins from amino acids. Perhaps the most important function to digestion is that the
liver secretes bile, a substance required to digest fats. There are many diseases that can affect this
organ and the digestive system including Cirrhosis.
Cirrhosis of the liver is a chronic disease that directly affects the liver. During the slow
progression of this disease the healthy tissue in the liver is replaced with scare tissue, causing the
liver cells to be destroyed. This causes the liver to be suffocated and eventually fail, due to not

Everyman Is An English Morality Play By An Unknown Author
Originally known as The Summoning of Everyman , Everyman was writing sometime during the
late 1400s. Everyman is an English morality play by an unknown author. This play first appeared
in England in the 16th century. Everyman can be considered as a play of transience because it
shows a protagonist who is during the whole play. It also illustrates the way Christians are
expected to live and the endeavors that should be made in order for their lives to be saved. The
morality play Everymanis about a man who is too attached and obsessed with materialistic things
when Deathsummons and tells him about his end. The author used symbolic names for characters
to show us the moral of the play. The characters in an allegory often have no individual personality,
but are embodiments of moral qualities and other abstractions (Allegory, 2010)
The author of the play Everyman has the main character Everyman to only symbolize the typical
human being. Death, also known as the antagonist, is a messenger sent by God to summon
Everyman. The author is trying to show readers that death is inescapable, and every human
being will have to face it one day. In the beginning of the play, God speaks about his death on the

Benetton Advertising Strategy Analysis
In 2011 fashion powerhouse United Colours of Benetton (Benetton) launched a worldwide
campaign, in an attempt to tackle the cultural hatreds that has permeated the globe. Under the name
UnHate; Benetton embarked on an advertising strategy that would later prove to create un
paralelled discourses that would ripple through continents from the White House in USA to The
Vatican in Italy. The campaigns impact across the globe centered largely on it s choice of
unconventional advertising methods; utilizing often controversial imagery, which lead to consumer
and industry reactions bordering uproar around the Ponzano Veneto Company. Benetton then, and
now continues to argue that hatred comes in many forms and views fashion as a global medium,...

20th Century and New World
NUOVOMONDO (Golden Door) by Emanuele Crialese, 2006. Nuovomondomeans New wolrd
in Italian, but its English title, Golden Door, has been taken from Emma Lazarus poem about
the Statue of Liberty. This is in fact an immigrants tale from Sicily to Ellis Island at the turn of
the 20th century. In a desolate corner of the Sicilian countryside, a family s apparently changeless
life of hardship and toil is interrupted by tales of the New World and its inhabitants, of the riches
of this paradise. Salvatore makes the momentous decision to sell all he has his land, his home, his
livestock and to take his children and aged mother to a better life across the ocean. As Salvatore

Their romantic joining does not revolve around common language or experience, but emotional
desire to begin a life in the new world . She symbolizes the universal want of all immigrants, not
just Italians, to step outside of everything and everyone they know in search of a life of
opportunity. She is English, has red hair, and has very little in common with Salvatore. However,
they understand each other s dreams perfectly, no words necessary. 5) The language: make
comments on the way peasants communicated among each other and with strangers. There is very
little dialogue in the film and I think this is done on purpose. However, keeping a faithful use of
Sicilian dialect, the viewer develop a closeness to the characters who in their language express their
cultural identities. The peasants could easily understand each other because it was their own
language, an army of its own as we discussed earlier in the semester. However, strangers could not
understand their dialect and therefore perceived them as uneducated and

Why Is Tailgating Bad
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, rear end collisions/tailgating
incidents are approximately 23 percent of all car crashes, resulting in approximately 2,000 deaths
and 950,000 injuries. Seeing this stat it is not hard to see why tailgating is a very dangerous thing
while driving and needs to be eliminated. Tailgating although is not the only thing I don t like
seeing when I m conducting a car. While I m driving some of things that make me mad are when
people don t use turnsignals, people having their brights on while passing them, and tailgating.
Driving without turning your signals on really grinds my gears because of the following
reasons. One example is does not notify the person behind you. Driving behind someone ... Show

The first thing that is bad about this is that the insecurity of the driver who is being tailgated.
Driving while being tailgated might result in a driver swerving or doing something that could
result in something they don t want to do. The thought of being tailgated may result in some
things, one thing could be speeding because their mind might tell them that they are going under
the speed limit or not fast enough. Next, the increase of an accident goes up a major percentage
if someone is tailgating. There was a stat done by the Driving Association in California and they
tested the result in tailgating when it occurs and doesn t occur. The stat showed that if someone
would start to tailgate the chance of an accident would go up a whole 65% which is a major
increase. Lastly, the tailgator has a split second to respond if the driver in front of them has to
rapidly stop because of some reason. On a busy road, there are many things that could cause a
sudden stop like a ball rolling into a road or a child running into the road to get that ball, and the
time for the tailgator to respond is almost impossible to prevent a crash. Not even a sudden stop
can cause a crash but just a normal stop when the tailgator doesn t have full attention on driving.
Yes, it is evident that tailgating is bad, and we need to do everything we can to completely eliminate

Mathematics Is A Important Part Of The Curriculum Essay
I. Introduction In today s society mathematics is a vital part of day to day life. No matter what a
person is doing at home or at the workplace, he/she is constantly using different mathematics skills
to simply function. Then what does this mean for mathematics education? When someone needs to
utilize a skill every day then he/she needs a strong background in the skill. Therefore, today s
students need more than a just a working knowledge of mathematics or enough knowledge to pass
a test. Today s students need to understand how mathematics works and how to utilize mathematics
skills in the best way possible. II. Mathematics as an Important Part of Curriculum Mathematics
goes far beyond school. That is why it is such an important part of the curriculum. Dr. Richard
Restak said, ...intelligence is plastic and modifiable. All of our experiences result in the formation
of neuronal circuits. The richer, more varied, and more challenging the experiences, the more
elaborate the neuronal circuits. Learning mathematics can help form those neuronal circuits, which
is one of many reasons that mathematics is a vital part of school curriculum. Restak goes on to
discuss how the neurons formed by these challenging experiences help students learn other and
harder tasks and subjects. In Teaching Kids Why Math Matters Donaldson said, A person s
success in life depends on how well she can solve problems. No matter what her career or life
situation, she ll find satisfaction

Literary Context Of King Hezekiah Of Judah
Literary Context
2 Kings 19:15 19 contains various theology on prayer and also about who God is. The passage is
a simple prayer of King Hezekiah of Judah. And this passage is placed right between 2 King 19
which seems to be the middle of the story of King Hezekiah of Judah but this is the pivotal point
of the story. In addition, the passage shows the most critical and difficult state for Hezekiah. He is
cornered in by Sennacherib and there is no way out. 2 Kings 19:1 7 is about prophet Isaiah
encouraging Hezekiah that Judah will not be delivered by the hand of Sennacherib. And 2 Kings
19:20 35 is about the prophecy of Isaiah concerning the Sennacherib (v.20 28) and restoration of

This trait is different from the previous kings or any kings after Hezekiah. In addition, there is an
overlap of two kingdoms in 2 Kings 18:9 12, Judah and Samaria. However, the northern kingdom
Israel was exiled because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God and transgressed his
covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor
obeyed. Surely, author indicates that this is the clear reason why they were exiled by the
Assyrians and unless Judah realigned their hearts back to God, they would end up the same
way. In 2 Kgs 18:13 18, the author begins in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah. The author
shows that after six years of Samaria being exiled now they were in a grievous situation and
cornered in like Israel. All of their fortified cities had been captured. Then Hezekiah pays tribute
to stop the Assyrians to buy them some time before they eventually come to them. And he ends
up giving all the silvers and stripped the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord. This
surely is not a picture of triumphant Israel but rather a defeated nation subdued by Assyrians. In 2
Kings 18:19, Rabshekah the messenger of Sennacherib comes and say to the officials on whom do
you rest this trust of yours? This is a claim against Hezekiah s alliance to King Egypt. Though they
have made a suzerain vassal relationship with Sargon, Hezekiah withheld the tributes and broke the
treaty with Assyria. Instead of trusting in

Importance of Faith in Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne
In Young Goodman Brown, the main character, Goodman Brown has a bout with his own faith.
He ends up losing this battle because of the wickedness in everyone else s hearts. He begins by
wanting to be the evil one, then progresses to be the faithful one as the night in the woods goes
on. His name has a lot to do with the character in the story. The Young in his name is to symbolize
innocence, and GOODMAN is pretty self explanatory. He goes off in to the woods and comes with
a lost faith in everyone else in the town.
Goodman Brown decides he wants to go off into the woods for one last night of evilness before
married life really kicked in. He says, What a wretch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

far, too far, but didn t realize he was still walking farther into the woods! He says he has walked too
far into the woods, but is still going! He is being overtaken by the evilness of the woods.
Just when I thought he was turned to the evil side, Goodman sees his wife s hair ties. This is
where he starts to turn back to the good side of life. On page 277, Goodman says, Come witch,
come wizard, come Indian powwow, come devil himself! and here comes Goodman Brown. You
may as well fear him as he fear you! This is where Goodman turns back to the good side, when he
finds out the devil is consuming his Faith. When Goodman and Faith are on the evil altar,
Goodman says, Faith! Faith! Look up to Heaven, and resist the Wicked One! Obviously Faith
was evil hearted because she was at this gathering with the devil. She went there to be inducted

Credit limits are set to manage the spending of their customers, this way Office Products Depot can
ensure that customers aren t purchasing too many goods. This means that if the customer is unable
to pay their account Office Products Depot loses say $2000 (a company s credit limit) rather than
$10000. To set these credit limits, Office Products Depot estimates the amount of moneythey
estimate the customer will spend over a two month period. This number is then rounded to the
nearest $500 to make recording credit limits easier. Customer payment of money owed is
managed by the same salesperson that the customer first dealt with, as they receive commission
based on money received by their particular customers. The salesperson is often in direct contact
with the customer to make sure the credit is being paid off. However, sometimes the credit limit
of a particular customer can be increased, if they have paid well in the past. An example of this is
Jones Stationery, who is $300 over their credit limit. When Office Products Depot sends invoices to
their customers, they send a separate tax invoice for each provided service. This makes the
customer more aware of the each individual charge. Monthly statements are also sent out aswell.
Refunds and reductions are also given occasionally to customers, to maintain a good relationship,
and fix incorrectly recorded charges. An example of this Office Products Depot

Differences Between The Bodhisattva In The Davis Museum
Another more obvious difference between the Bodhisattva in the Davis Museum is the coloring of
each. Unfortunately, time has worn away most of the paint on these heads, but the left Bodhisattva
shows more remnants of the original painting, including a small wavy mustache. Red paint can
still be seen in the headdress, the urna and the lines of the neck. Both heads have dark paint
outlining the eyebrows and the eyes, offering the viewer a look into Gandharan culture. One can
see the hair was once painted black based on the left Bodhisattvas hair which still contains some of
the dark pigment. While most of the paint has worn away, the naturalistic sculpting style allows
the life of the Bodhisattvas to remain intact without the added color. The sculptures appear
dynamic due to the use of lines and shadows in order to further one s sense of naturalism. The eye
sockets are set deep into each head which causes a shadow to fall over the eyes due to the brow...

The stucco heads are examples of the novel art that was formed when art from different countries
was allowed to influence each other. This is visibly illustrated by the Davis Museum placing the
Gandharan heads between the South Asian and Mediterranean exhibits, symbolizing the mixing of
the various art forms. While the informational cards about the Bodhisattvas are helpful tools, they
must be taken with a grain of salt. Whatever is printed on the informational cards must be
questioned and analyzed instead of believed to be the truth. The museum controls the informational
cards and thus, controls the narrative that the audience will learn about each piece. Nonetheless, it
is critical to be curious about the circumstances surrounding museums and their collections so in the
future, such questionable practices won t be tolerated and important cultural pieces will no longer
be taken from their origin

Visa Is The Most Promising Stocks Of The Credit Card...
Visa has become one the most promising stocks in the credit card industry. Its stock symbol is
V, and it trades in the financial sector of the The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). As an
investor, Visa has remained one of my most lucrative investments. In 2008, I purchased Visa as an
initial public offer at $59.00 per share. Since that time, the stock has climbed as high as $248.00
and split 4 to 1 on March 18, 2015 with a split share price of $62.00. Although the reason for
splitting remains undeclared, the value of the stock has remained consistent with steady growth
toward a more promising future.
Visa, as an Investor Business Daily Leaderboard stock, is recognized as one of a select number
of companies screened for having the most potential for big gains. (Alva, 2015) The Visa
conducts over 65% (over two billion credit cards, debit cards, and many other financial services) of
the United States and some foreign countries credit card transactions, which is more than its
competitors MasterCard and Citigroup. For fiscal year 2013, investors saw a 34.5% return (5 year
annualized), and Visa reported $11,778,000 in assets, marking a 13% increase in revenue.
(Fortune 500 2014, n.d.) Many analysts, such as Bill Carcache of Nomura, have applauded Visa as
a company with a most promising future. According to Carache, [Visa] is expected to rise further
as the card processing network rides the coattails of strong bank partners and benefits from higher

Why We Should Not Invade Iraq

any negligible benefit. The U.S and Britain started a preemptive war based off of rumours! I

believe the human and economic cost of the war was merely the cost we had to pay for the

The Policy Instruments And The International Monetary Fund
Consensus, general agreement among policymakers and scholars, is a difficult task to achieve;
however, John Williamson in 1990 claimed that Washington based institutions such as the United
States Government, think tanks, and the International Monetary Fund had formed a general
consensus regarding economic development polices in Latin America (Williamson 1990). He
outlined a framework and described ten policy instruments that policymakers agreed were necessary

However, I will maintain that the Washington Consensus is the combination of neoliberal policy
preferences, which essentially is the harnessing the power of markets which was implemented by
international financial institutions during the 1980s and 1990s (Birdsall 2010 pp.6 ). Additionally,
to measure the success of the consensus it is proper to measure the economic growth and the poverty
rates in the region of Latin America because this is the same region Williamson first noticed the
Washington Consensus. In short, while the Washington Consensus may not be used in the same
manner as Williamson intended it to be, the Consensus has failed to help developing economies
grow measured by GDP growth and hasn t reduced poverty. It is safe to say there is no longer a
consensus among development policies; however, certain policy preferences and the end goal
integration in the global economy will still be found in the next consensus regarding economic
development (Nankani 2005 pp. xii). Additionally, from a theoretical level, the Consensus has failed
to recognize the diverse problems of each nation state, and various other factors such as the lack of
institution building.

Consequences Of Losing The Amazon Rainforest
The Implications of Losing the Amazon Rainforest
(First Draft)
Marianne Sembrano
Section 4
Northern Marianas College
Word Count: 1,142
Imagine life without trees. Life without trees seems unfathomable. Trees provide us with paper,
timber, oxygen for us to breath, etc. Without trees, life on Earth may probably cease to exist. Trees,
specifically forests, make up for thirty percent of the Earth s land (National Geographic, 2017),
while water covers seventy percent (National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, 2017). Out of
that thirty percent, only a mere six percent is what tropical rainforests cover (Butler, 2008).
According to Butler (2008), tropical rainforests once covered over sixteen percent of the Earth, but
since then, the numbers began decreasing. Tropical rainforests, precisely the Amazon rainforest, are
decreasing at such alarming rates due to deforestation (Laurence, 1998). If the Amazon rainforest
were to be lost, the implications imposed are its effect on local matters such as wildlife, the
environment, and human life (Foley, Asner, Costa, Coe, DeFries, Gibbs,... Snyder, 2007). Although
these implications are dire consequences, some actions are being taken to prevent these measures
from happening.
More than twenty percent of the air we breathe comes from the Amazon rainforest (Butler, 2008).
The main driver for the destruction of the Amazon rainforest lies in the need for further developing

Short Stories Of Harrison Bergeron
Flying cars, personal robots, and driverless cars are all technologies people have thought of our
future holding. But what if our future really looks more like our past. What if our new
advancements in technology blew up our cities and we were left with nothing and had to start all
over. What if our future was not all compelling and technological but somber and gloomy. A future
of only things equal and no originality, a future full of secrets where knowledge is the price. In the
short stories Harrison Bergeronby Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. and By the waters of Babylon by Stephen
Vincent Benet, the authors portrayed that the future will be dull, dreary, and depressing, The two
stories also teach you about the future and the equality, knowledge, and technologies it contains it
contains.
Bland, boring, and bland is not how most of us would have imagined our future looking like, but
in these stories the author s must have had a premonition to know what to write about. In the
short stories Harrison Bergeron everyone is equal. The year is 2081 and we had more than just
equal rights, we had equal skills, equal smarts, equal beauty, but really that was more equal than
one society could handle.* The suspense builds in the story when a 14 year old boy, Harrison,
escaped from jail after being put in jail earlier that year for being sublime at everything he did:
Harrison Bergeron, age fourteen, she said in a grackle squawk, has just escaped from jail... (104

Legend Of Newton Research Paper
Have you ever heard the legend about Newton and how he discovered gravity? Legend has it
young Newton was sitting under an apple tree and all of a sudden he gets hit on the head apple.
This legend is supposedly the real reason how the laws of gravity were created but it s not all
true. The real story which was told by Isaac himself is, he was barely looking out the window
when he happened to see the fruit drop. Even then, some Newton scholars think the story involving
the apples was made up.
Newton wasn t always such a serious guy. He was a weirdo. He purposefully stuck a needle in
his eye socket. The reason for him sticking a needle was that he was experimenting with the
properties of light and used himself as a guinea pig. James Gleick the author of Newton s
biography released in 2003, said that Newton did this because people at the time were not really
sure whether the eyes were responsible for collecting light or creating it and Newton wanted to find
that out. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Newton himself said, Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who set the
planets in motion. God governs all things and knows all that is or can be done. He believed God
was the creator of the universe and everything living. Newton had an obsession with the Bible.
Getting back to his obsession with the Bible, it s worth mentioning that Isaac went to the extent of
learning Hebrew. He wanted to find out the hidden meanings instead of working on science all the
time. Newton thought he was a big time sinner. He studied the Bible at great depths and wrote more
on religion than about science or mathematics. He actually wrote a list of 48 sins, he committed,
which includes punching his sister, being rude to his mother and sister ,

Vaccinations Should Not Be A Medical Exemption From...
Vaccinations: The Right to Choose Is requiring vaccinations overstepping the bounds of our
right to make our own medical choices for ourselves as well as for our children? Or, is it safe
and necessary for the greater good to prevent deadly diseases? Are those who choose not to
vaccinate themselves or their children putting the rest of the population at risk? Where should
the line, if any, be drawn? Why are more and more people using exemptions to vaccinations?
How safe and effective are vaccinations? I will share important information on both sides of the
issue to help you decide the answers to these questions. Currently, all fifty U.S. states offer a
medical exemption from vaccinations. This means that someone could be exempt from receiving
one or all of the vaccines based on medical necessity. For example, those who have compromised
or weakened immune systems should be able to get a medical exemption. These exemptions
require permission from a medical physician and getting them is difficult as most doctors in the
mainstream medical community support and encourage vaccinations. There are two other types of
exemptions religious and philosophical. As of October 2016, three states California, West Virginia,
and Mississippi do not offer either of these. They are medical exemption states only. Of the
remaining states, 32 of them offer medical and religious exemptions. Only the remaining 18 states
offer all three exemptions. These numbers are decreasing as more and

The Rise Of Poe By Edgar Allan Poe
The Rise of Poe
The words people use and how they use them holds so much power within themselves. It seems
that, people are always searching for the right words to express their true emotions towards a certain
subject. Artists and authors manage to make a living off of knowing how to use the right words to
reach through to their platform. Though within his time, Edgar Allan Poe did not have an
established platform and was seen as estranged; he still dabbled as an author and has made many
famous short stories and poems that we enjoy to this day. Poe uses tone, diction, imagery,
symbolism, elements of the supernatural, and allusions to illustrate his themes of sorrow, madness,
revenge, and uses these to project and give refuge to his inner ... Show more content on

Whenever the clocked chimed, the guests were filled with fear that they could be next, and
everything that is happening at that moment is temporary... such as their short lived happiness and
life span. No matter how much they try to ignore and escape what s happening outside the walls
of Prince Prospero s home, it still ends up getting them in the end. Much like Tuberculosis, where
there was no cure and death was inevitable. He showcases all the different stages of living to dying
while, Prince Prospero and the Red Death, go through the stages of acceptance backwards leading
to the manifestation of Poe s inner demons.
Certainly to even establish the tone one has to choose their diction. Edgar Allan Poe, as said
before, had a way of describing certain items and events. He did so in a way, that the reader is
physically there or even being told in depth from a person that s being conversed with. Many
times, the speaker within the story starts off with, Yet, mad am I not... (271) or even, but why
will you say that I am mad? (228) The speaker poses these rhetorical questions that make you
question their psychosis. The 3rd person point of view surely gives rise, to giving the readers the
task of analyzing and choosing whether to side with the speaker or not. Edgar Allan Poe, was not
so sane himself, either. Poe was known for being a drunk, a gambler, and certainly struggled with
so much to the depths that it reflected enough in his stories to

Donald Trump Effect
Donald Trump
Have you ever heard of Donald trump? If not he is a 70 year old man born June 14, 1946 in
Queens, New York City. He is a Republican running for president in the election of 2016. I believe
he has had a positive effect on the election because I don t think he s just doing it for the money and
that he speaks the truth about what the changes the United Sates needs.
The first reason I think Donald trump would be a good president is because he speaks the truth and
is honest about what he wants to do to change America. For example, Trump wants to build a wall
on the boarder of United States and Mexico so illegal immigrants can t come into America and
commit crimes and not pay taxes because the government doesn t know that they are illegal ... Show

The reason I think that is because he already has a lot of money, for jobs, he is a business man,
television personality, author, investor, politician and more. All together he makes 8.7 billion
dollars. The president makes $400,000 per year, therefore I believe Trump isn t dong it for the
money because the president makes a lot less than what he does.
Some people such as Muslims, Mexicans, and Democrats might think that Donald Trump has had a
negative effect on the presidential election because they might think he says and does mean things
to people. But what he wants to do is fix America by, strengthening the army, shut down parts of
the internet where Isis can not us it to recruit American people. And provide more funding for
police training and a lot more. In my opinion he s saying what should be done to make America
better than what it is now.
In conclusion I think that Donald Trump has had a very positive effect on the presidential
campaign he speaks the truth and is not just doing it for the money. He has said everything he
wants to do to make America great again and I believe the that is what he will do if he becomes
the president of the United

Christianity, By Clive Staples Lewis
In Mere Christianity, Clive Staples Lewis, known as C.S Lewis known best for his writing, and
being a Christian apologist, divides the novel into 4 different section. Each book emphasizes the
struggles he has faced and overcome as well as personal life lessons he has learned. The first
section, Right and Wrong as a Clue to the Meaning of the Universe focus on moral law and the
law of nature. Christians Believe, second section, corresponds with his life because Lewis has had
many interviews defending his faith and studied the Bible thoroughly. In the third book, Christian
Behaviour. It talks about all of the different types of morals and behaviors Christians are called to
follow because Lewis has studied into Jesuss teaching he has a deeper understanding of what Jesus
has called his followers to be. Lastly, Beyond Personality: or First steps in the Doctrine of the
Trinity, is about the first steps and the process of becoming a Christian. Lewis went from an
atheist to a highly Christian figure in the church and believer society resulting into a lot of personal
knowledge of the topics in his novel. C.S. Lewis s life influences his writing in Mere Christianity
through his ability to portray the foundation of Christianity from the growth made from both his
believer and non believer life, using the amount of studies and research done defending the views
of atheists and Christians, his studies in people and Christian behavior, and finally how his intimate

Gun control
Does gun control reduce crime rate?
Abstract
Over the past few months, people across the nation have been debating about gun control. Topics
ranging from firearm restrictions to background checks have been heavily discussed by both
emotion and logic, by both gun supporters and gun control activists, and it seems like there is no
middle ground for both parties to agree on. Crime rates influence guns demanded for self
protection, and guns demanded by criminals depend upon guns held by law abiding citizens.
Comparative static analysis is used to investigate the effects of crime and gun control policies. The
results show that increases in crime control policies may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This showed that the backgrounds checks that were conducted at the local leave had less suicide
and homicide rates. The local agencies have access to more detailed criminal reports than the
federal government (Guse, Layde Sumner, 2008).
Firearm has been a major issue in United States since founding of the country; however in
December 15, 1971 a bill was passed which integrated the second Amendment to the constitution.
That second Amendment give people the right to bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Ever since the
law was passed America has been the nation of gun owner, it has been a problem for both the
owners and the gun control advocate ( Annas Glantz, 2009).
It is obvious why people support gun control, because they want to reduce crime and gun control
will help achieve their goals. In the poll that was conducted in 1978, regarding gun control laws
41 percent of Americans believe even if there were more gun control law that crime would still
stay the same while 16 percent believes that crime will increase. After the shooting at Columbine
school, respondents were asked who was to be blamed for the murders, only a few recognized
weak gun control rules. Many Americans support gun control because they believe gun control is
an effective way to reduce crime and violence. When it comes to gun control, Americans have very
weak viewpoints on the topic . (Bartton Gertz, Kleck, 2009).

main character s name Anthony Long is also a significant name which the author uses as a
symbol to show the protagonist s position as his name is ant. He is considered insignificant to
his peers and can easily be pressured. Ant is described as an inferior character as he is so small,
and his peers such as Lance are powerful. Throughout the story, Ant also carries heavy weight on

he will need to carry the guilt for a long time. It is once the protagonist meets up with Mr. Wood

Essay about Kodak Fujifilm
Eastman Kodak and Fujifilm Sandra Greene BUS 302 Professor Cheryl J. Johnson 2 Feb, 2013
Eastman Kodak and Fujifilm 1. Describe the history and core business of each company. Kodak
was considered the Google of its day. It was founded in 1880 and known for its pioneering
technology and innovative marketing. You press the button, we do the rest, was its slogan in
1888. By 1976 Kodak accounted for 90% of film and 85% of camera sales in America. Until the

Fujifilm, on the other hand, set goals and implemented them. One goal was to penetrate the U.S.

towards digital, they prepared for it and then acquired new business lines. The developed a
cosmetics line, they found new outlets for its film expertise (in one sort of film they have 100%
market share). They slashed costs and jobs and spent millions on a mass reconstruction. The
60% of profits they loss from film was replaced with new revenue. They embrace change and
diversity to become a more effective force for a better future (Fujifilm) (The Last Kodak
Moment, 2012). Our Commitment 4. Evaluate each company s approach to ethics and social
responsibility and the impact those approaches have had on each company s profitability. Kodak
s case study tells the story of a long standing company with a reputation for social responsibility
earned through its community activities, its implied commitment to lifetime employment, and its
high wage and comprehensive fringe benefit policies (Kochan, 1999). However, as their market
position declined in market there was an increased need to focus on costs. One way to do this
was a long and slow process of layoffs which obliterated employee trust. In the end they realized
that their old belief that a socially responsible employer guaranteed jobs for life was no longer

Effect Of Divorce On Children
Over the last couple of decades the rate of marriages that end in divorce has been steadily
increasing. When a marriage ends children are impacted and it s not only emotional and
devastating the couples but this also has a huge effect on the children of all ages involved. Many
parents go through a divorcedisaster with little knowledge of the effects that the children may go
through. Some of the most common impacts that divorce has on children include the fact that
children tend to start to blame themselves for the divorce, adjusting in areas of social relationships,
there are behavioral issues that arise, and there often becomes a challenge to balance the feelingof
stability between the separate parents. These are just a few of the most common challenges that
children face when presented with the reality of divorce in the family. When we understand the
negative effects in which children are impacted by divorce, the hope is that couples will devote
time and energy toward any opportunities to savage the marriage.
Caught in the Middle 3
While there are many people who go through divorce these days, there are also many children
who suffer from the impacts of divorce on their mind and emotions. (McConville, D. 2013 p 4)
One of the most common impacts of divorce on children is the element of the child feeling like it
is his or her fault. In the initial stages of divorce it can be very important to prevent resentment
toward the other parent. Parents should know about the

What Foreign Aid Is Essay
What Foreign Aid Is
There are two words that many politicians like to shy away from, and those two words are,
foreign aid. Taking a firm stand on either side of this topic is usually side stepped by decision
makers. Their opinions are usually based on a case by case analysis. This extremely controversial
topic involves whether or not to support the policy of foreign aid to needy or sometimes not so
needy countries. What benefits does foreign aid have for the countries that receive it, and does it
have any benefits for the countries who give? Some may say that instead of spending money on
foreign aid, money should be spent on domestic aid.

Some people would still be against this type of aid, and their argument would be that if money
that goes to Mexico was invested in helping small business get started, America would be less
dependent on other countries for their goods or services. In this case the nay sayers were proven
wrong because Mexico recently repaid the United States in full, plus interest, and a year in advance.
Another form of foreign aid is a certain amount of credit is given to the receiving country in order
to buy American made goods only. This form of aid not only helps the country in need, but it also
pumps money into the US economy. Still some may wonder why should we care about a country
such as
Russia, to whom the U.S. has recently given aid to recently. The U.S. can t afford to have an ex
superpower unstable economically because of their nuclear capabilities. Because Russia is in the
unstable beginnings of a democracy the
U.S. wants to keep Russia on the right track. If that includes giving them aid in order to help feed
their people, then that is what the U.S must do. Because reinstatement of the old regime would
result in turmoil throughout the world.
After communism was overthrown in the former Soviet Union the world went through big
changes. There was no longer two world super powers, and all of a sudden a
40 year cold war ended. As stated the U.S. uses foreign aid as a tool to implement their political
views in other countries.

  • 3. The Unification Of Germany And Italy The unification of Germany and Italy was centered around the belief of nationalism. Nationalism is the belief that one s greatest loyalty should not be to a king or an empire but to a nation of people who share a common culture and history. The nation will then become a nation state when it has its independent government. Bonds that will create a nation state are nationality, language, culture, and religion. Germanyand Italyboth went to drastic measures to unify their countries In 1815, Italy as divides after the Congress of Vienna. Some provinces were still under Austrian rule such as Venetia and Lombardy. The Spanish Bourbon family ruled the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies while the Pope controlled the Papal States. Seeing the separation of states, Mazzini, Garibaldi, and Cavour made advancements towards unifying the country. Mazzini formed a nationalist group called Young Italy. He called for an end to foreign rule and the unification of Italy based on the common language and culture of the people. This movement was called the risorgimento. This plan failed and the former rules of Italian states drove Mazzini and other nationalist leaders into exile. Next came Garibaldi who was the leader of the Red Shirts. They were volunteers who followed Garibaldi in Southern Italy. This nationalist group was successful in gaining control of Sicily in 1860. He then crossed into the mainland and marched north. • 4. Old Testament During the first century A.D. the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, and the Nationalist all lived in Palestine. Something that all these groups had in common was that they were all Jewish, however, most did not identify themselves with any of these groups. Even though all these groups were jewish, their definition and perception of the messiah were all different. Each group also dealt with Roman rule differently, which cause a lot of problems. A big portion of the scribes, during the 1st century were Pharisees. The Pharisees were the on who interpreted and enforced the law, along with the traditions. According to Mark 7:5, one of the charges against Jesus, along with one of His disciples, was that that they had violated tradition (Mark... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was conflict with the Pharisees because the Sadducees felt that their official roles in the Temple gave them the power to make official interpretations of the Law as opposed to the Pharisees lay interpretation (Robinson, 1986). The third religious party of Jews in Palestine in the 1st century were the Essenes. Within the Essenes, there were different divisions. The Qumran Essenes are best known from the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in 1947. Since the Essenes tended to be more strict that the Pharisees and did believe that some of the traditions were valid. The Essenes, along with the Pharisees, possessed a hatred towards the Romans and played a big role in the first Jewish revolt. The Essenes did not believe that the priesthood of the Sadducees was for real. Likewise, the Essenes believed that the time of the messiah was near and that after the messiah had established the new kingdom, they would be restored as legitimate priests (Robinson, 1986). The final group of people, were the Nationalist. The Nationalists tended to be very patriotic and devoted themselves to national liberty for the Jewish people. After the revolt, the were later called Zealots. The Zealot beliefs mostly aligned with the Pharisees and were believed to be an offshoot of the group. • 6. What Is The Juxtaposition Of Light And Dark Dark and light, good and evil, joy and sadness, real and imaginary: these are the ideas that iconic Belgian painter RenГ© Magritte, and other surrealist artists like him, strived to arouse in the minds of their viewers. Magritte s work features supernatural, often unsettling images which play with the imagination and confuse the mind. As part of the surrealist movement, Magritte s purpose behind his paintings was to intrigue people, make them think about the subconscious mind, and to blur the lines between reality and dreams. In his famous painting, L Empire des lumiГЁres, or The Empire of Light, a bright, blue, daytime sky full of white clouds appears over a darkened street, a lonely house, and a thick cover of trees, all shown to be under the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The juxtaposition of light and dark in The Empire of Light may represent the contrast of everyday elements and ideas present in the world around us. As explained by Michael Glover, night and day are present simultaneously. This is unnerving, the simultaneity of daylight and darkness. It disturbs us visually and morally. Can light co habit with darkness, good with evil? Well, yes, man is such a patchwork creature of light and dark, the will to do good, the propensity to choose evil (Glover, para. 3). At first the main effect this painting has on the observer is confusion; night and day cannot exist together in the same place at the same time, after all. After observing it in more detail, though, many symbols and themes begin to arise. Considering the contrast between light values used, the day and night in this image could represent the clichГ© symbols of good and evil, or joy and sadness, respectively. Just as both times of day are present in this painting, so are these emotions and traits present in everyday life; they exist always and everywhere. By analyzing not only the painting itself, but the title as well, this theme becomes more apparent. Several versions of its title exist due to translation issues, and many refer to this piece as The Dominion of Light instead. This could mean that the light portrayed in this painting is dominating the darkness, because of its placement above the shadow, and, in fact, it is showing the dominion of light over darkness or purity over corruption. This piece shows the power that good has over evil, or that joy has over sadness, while portraying both of the latter as an impenetrable veil of darkness and the former as the bright clarity of the sky. The use of light sources and contrast between value in The Empire of Light contributes to this theme of light and dark, purity and wickedness, or joy and sadness. This interpretation also ... • 7. The Effects Of Beauty Standards On Body Image The Effects of Beauty Standards Understanding the effects of beauty standards to both men and women requires research of both sexes and different orientations in regard to the influence the media has on them. While cultural standards contribute to beauty standards, media carries most of the responsibility for swaying public opinion of attractiveness. In order to find an answer as to why certain beauty standards currently exist, one must examine the root cause: media. Literature Reviewed First Group of Studies Media and Body Image. In order to prevent continued negative effects on body image by the media, it has been suggested that images that have been changed need to have labels to prevent body dissatisfaction (Slater et al., 2012). Wang et al. (2010) provided evidence that both men and women attempt to appear like the people portrayed in magazines. Men were influenced by health and sports magazines, whereas women attempted to look like the models in entertainment and fashion magazines (Wang, 2010). Participants in the Slater et al. (2012) study showed that warning labels may help prevent the negative effects of media images, as they portray an unrealistic ideal for the human body (Slater et al., 2012; Wang, 2010). Second Groups of Studies Body Dissatisfaction. The development of removing pubic hair is caused by body dissatisfaction, which relates to one s choice, physical attractiveness, and other key themes (Braun et al., 2013). This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in syzygy ) exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon s location relative to its orbital nodes. Unlike a solar eclipse, which can only be viewed from a certain relatively small area of the world, a lunar eclipse may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of the Earth. Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and the small particles, and so by the time the light has passed through the atmosphere, the longer wavelengths dominate. This resulting light we perceive as red. This is the same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to turn the sky a reddish color; an alternative way of considering the problem is to realize that, as viewed from the Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind the Earth. The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the atmosphere; this also controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier the atmosphere, the more that other wavelengths of light will be removed (compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a deeper red color. This causes the resulting coppery red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse to the next. Volcanoes are notable for expelling large quantities of dust into the atmosphere, and a large eruption shortly before an eclipse can have a large effect on the resulting color. Its stock symbol is V, and it trades in the financial sector of the The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). As an investor, Visa has remained one of my most lucrative investments. Additionally, to measure the success of the consensus it is proper to measure the economic growth and the poverty rates in the region of Latin America because this is the same region Williamson first noticed the Washington Consensus. In short, while the Washington Consensus may not be used in the same manner as Williamson intended it to be, the Consensus has failed to help developing economies grow measured by GDP growth and hasn t reduced poverty. It is safe to say there is no longer a consensus among development policies; however, certain policy preferences and the end goal integration in the global economy will still be found in the next consensus regarding economic development (Nankani 2005 pp. xii). Consequences Of Losing The Amazon Rainforest The Implications of Losing the Amazon Rainforest (First Draft) Marianne Sembrano Section 4 Northern Marianas College Word Count: 1,142 Imagine life without trees. Life without trees seems unfathomable. Trees provide us with paper, timber, oxygen for us to breath, etc. Without trees, life on Earth may probably cease to exist. Trees, specifically forests, make up for thirty percent of the Earth s land (National Geographic, 2017), while water covers seventy percent (National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, 2017). Out of that thirty percent, only a mere six percent is what tropical rainforests cover (Butler, 2008). According to Butler (2008), tropical rainforests once covered over sixteen percent of the Earth, but since then, the numbers began decreasing. Tropical rainforests, precisely the Amazon rainforest, are decreasing at such alarming rates due to deforestation (Laurence, 1998). If the Amazon rainforest were to be lost, the implications imposed are its effect on local matters such as wildlife, the environment, and human life (Foley, Asner, Costa, Coe, DeFries, Gibbs,... Snyder, 2007). Although these implications are dire consequences, some actions are being taken to prevent these measures from happening. The real story which was told by Isaac himself is, he was barely looking out the window when he happened to see the fruit drop. Even then, some Newton scholars think the story involving the apples was made up. Newton wasn t always such a serious guy. He was a weirdo. He purposefully stuck a needle in his eye socket. The reason for him sticking a needle was that he was experimenting with the properties of light and used himself as a guinea pig. Vaccinations: The Right to Choose Is requiring vaccinations overstepping the bounds of our right to make our own medical choices for ourselves as well as for our children? Or, is it safe and necessary for the greater good to prevent deadly diseases? Are those who choose not to vaccinate themselves or their children putting the rest of the population at risk? Where should the line, if any, be drawn? Why are more and more people using exemptions to vaccinations? How safe and effective are vaccinations? I will share important information on both sides of the issue to help you decide the answers to these questions. Currently, all fifty U.S. states offer a medical exemption from vaccinations. This means that someone could be exempt from receiving one or all of the vaccines based on medical necessity. For example, those who have compromised or weakened immune systems should be able to get a medical exemption. These exemptions require permission from a medical physician and getting them is difficult as most doctors in the mainstream medical community support and encourage vaccinations. There are two other types of exemptions religious and philosophical. As of October 2016, three states California, West Virginia, and Mississippi do not offer either of these.
