Rhetorical Analysis Assignment
Malcolm Gladwell s podcast on Revisionist History, McDonald s Broke My Heart , is centered around
Phil Sokolof s experience of having a heart attack. Sokolof single handedly decided to attack the issue
of unhealthy food head on. Sokolof does this through the help of newspapers and billboards, to
promote a healthier lifestyle within the United States. Malcolm Gladwell discusses during the podcast
how McDonald s oil is unhealthy for humans, through the use of pathos. Gladwell effectively spreads
this message throughout the duration of his podcast. The podcast informs the listeners how unhealthy
McDonald s oil was and how the company needed to make a change in order to provide its customers
with a healthy food option.
Throughout Gladwell s podcast, he raised questions regarding the various issues and health concerns
around McDonald s French fries. The first question raised was, what is the correlation between fast
food itself and genetics? The question raised could be the possibility of genetically passing heart
diseases down through generations, rather than the intake of McDonald s fries. Sokolof s doctors tell
him his diet and his high cholesterol levels put him at risk for more heart attacks so he decides to do
something about it, not just for himself, but for everyone (Says). The podcast seemed to focus more on
the new oil used to fry the fries, rather than think about genetic heart disorders. It could have been
possible that Sokolof may have had a genetic heart disorder he did not know about, and could have
been shown through his late ages. It could also have been possible the amount of fried food Sokolof
had put into his body could have led to the high cholesterol problems, which could lead to possible
heart attacks in his future. Allowing the audience to have a better outlook on the real issues behind
McDonald s new way of frying their French fries.
All in all, Gladwell s podcast effectively proves how it is just the food itself, and it is not the genetics
that had led to Sokolof s heart attack. Another question that Gladwell raises, was Sokolof

The Global Clinical Trial Is A Very Challenging Job
The global clinical trial is a very challenging job; it involves strategic decision making which can
affect drug development and approval process. Many factors should be considered in selecting
countries, most common in feasibility studies include: the prevalence of the disease, regulatory
requirement, patients recruitment, experience clinical trial specialist availability, ethical issues,
language barrier, and marketing strategy. In this report, we perform a thorough assessment of
conducting clinical trials in countries such as Canada, Germany, Spain, Japan and the US. The criteria
chosen for this assessment include disease prevalence, insurance coverage, patient enrollment rates,
regulatory environment and finally costs associated with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the rates of heart attack are 1.8 times higher among adults diagnosed with diabetes than
those without a diagnosis. When compared with men, women of all ages diagnosed with T2DM have
even a higher risk of heart disease (NIDKK, 2016).
Why selection of Germany? According to traveler s digest, Germany s size is comparatively small to
the state of California (2014). Despite its small size, Germany ranks amongst the worst for all things
diabetes. As of 2008, 7.4 million (12% of the total population) adult citizens are plagued with diabetes
in Germany with an additional 4.1 million citizens on the brink of having the condition with
prediabetes. Type II diabetes accounts for about 80 90% of all diabetic cases in Germany. It s also
significant to note that 1/10 diabetes sufferers in Germany also have coronary heart disease (Novo
Nordisk, 2008). Additionally, there have been a predicted 3 million undiagnosed cases of diabetes
waiting to add to more startling statistics (Tenderich, 2011).
When it comes to clinical research, it appears Germany has a legitimate presence and good rapport
with industries that cater to healthcare. Germany s involvement in clinical studies far exceeds its
demographics with a strong medical tradition as well as a

Evaluation Of Huawei s Expansion Strategy
Option on Future Operations
In consideration of Huawei s expansion strategy in Canada over the last six years, Huawei has a high
competitive strength within the nation and Canada is high in attractiveness to continued operations
(Celly et al., 2015, p. 28; Daniels et al., 2015, p. 597). However, Huawei s globalization strategy
remains under pressure from the adverse effects of the U.S., Australian and Indian governments
exclusion of Huawei from government procurement (Celly et al., 2015, p. 1). Therefore, Huawei must
leverage the positive relationships and image it has built within Canada to negate the spread of the
negative brand image perpetuated by the U.S. Congress report. As such, two options are presented to
further bolster the positive image of Huawei within Canada and abroad.
The first option is to create a joint venture with Ericsson to collaborate on enterprise solutions
(Daniels et al., 2015, p. 592). Considering both organizations enterprise solutions business segments
are a relatively small portion of the businesses, it would stand to assume that together, both businesses
could develop an enterprise solutions industry through collaborative research and development (Celly
et al., 2015, pp. 19 26; Daniels et al., 2015, p. 583). This is strategically attractive, as Ericsson is the
preferred vendor of Canada s largest telecom operator, Rogers (Celly et al. 2015, pp. 24 25). This
strategic alliance would open Huawei to Rogers for future business, lending to

country in Europe. The country lies at the center of Europe and shares more borders with other
countries than any other in Europe. The capital city is Berlin, which is over 775 years old and is the
most populated city in the country. Before the nation of Germany formed, it was the capital of Prussia,
that later developed into the Federal Republic of Germany. The country borders not only other
countries, but also the Baltic Sea to the north west and the North Sea to the northeast. The landscape is

Along with the ancient sites are majestic castles such as the one made famous by Walt Disney, the
Neuschwanstein Castle, located near the village Hohenschwangau and built during the 19th century.
The oldest inhabited is Meersburg Castle, located in Baden Württemberg and built 630. There are
World War II sites and museums such as Lichtenburg concentration camp near Wittenburg and follow
in the footsteps of American and other Allied soldiers on a cruise on the Rhine River.
The different peoples moving into and out brought their unique cultures and added to the mixture that
became Germany. The first known people to settle in Germany was the Celts, who lived there before
the birth of Christ. Words from the Celtic language became part of what would later develop into the
German Language. The name of the Danube, Neckar, and Rhine Rivers, were names left over by the
Celts. The Celts were great traders and left behind trade routes that the Romans subsequently reused
and improved. Julius Ceaser, Roman Emperor, gave the area east of the Rhine the name of Germania
and the Romans ruled Germany for two hundred years. Also, they brought with them the religion of
Christianity and their laws which influenced the structure of German law. The religion of Christianity
continues to be the primary religion of the nation today. After the deterioration of the Roman empire
in Germany, the Franks took control and introduced the feudal system, a hereditary

The Importance of the USA Patriot Act Essay
The Importance of the USA Patriot Act
The United States government changed the face of computer and internet use when it signed the USA
Patriot Act on October 26, 2001. This act was created in the wake of the terrorist attacks in New York
City on September 11 that same year. Many people believe that this act is a good thing and will help in
defense against any future attacks. What most people do not know, however, is the effect of this act on
the more general public. This includes individual people, public libraries, colleges and universities,
and even trucking or hauling companies.

Agencies previously used subpoenas to obtain these records. The problem with this was that there was
a court process that had to be gone through before records could be obtained. Now, the agencies only
need to obtain a search warrant for this, greatly speeding up their process.
The USAPA provides agencies the ability to ask for student records in concurrence with a terrorism
investigation. This was previously protected by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. These
agencies must, however, receive a court order from a Federal District court. The United States
Immigration and Naturalization Service is given quite extensive powers concerning foreign students.
The school is required to keep visa information on these students and update any changes to these

aliens, and people convicted of using illicit drugs are not allowed to use these documented materials.
Most instances concerning trucking or hauling companies comes in the form of the information kept

Student Internship Problems Of The State Of Kentucky
Student Internship Problems in the state of Kentucky
Abstract
Internship is an important and unavoidable component of higher education. In the state of Kentucky,
students of universities and institutions of higher education have been facing problems in getting the
appropriate and effective internship training.
This research studies the implementation of formal internship and cooperative pipeline training
programs in colleges, universities and local industries in the field of applied engineering and
technology in Kentucky. Data for the training programs is collected through the questionnaires which
have been directed specifically at university students currently in an applied engineering and
technology management programs, and also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These internet portals then serve as a platform for employers and students assisting both of them with
making a connection between students and employees. Students are allowed to post their resumes and
search for internship opportunities and employers are also able to post their temporary employment
needs. These existing techniques, while organized and supportive, are unfortunately failing to
effectively follow up to the task of providing internship training opportunities to all students wish to
secure such training.
In place of the current informal internship process just described as it is the proposal of this research
study that there is more organized, more formalized strategy which will be mentioned in this research
as a formal internship and cooperative pipeline training program (FICPTP) that could be created to
replace and enhance the existing procedure.
Hypotheses
The researcher referred two hypotheses in this study.
Hypothesis #1
In Kentucky, colleges and university faculty, students, and industry personnel in the field of applied
engineering and technology feel that the current internship and cooperative training system needs to
be improved.
Hypothesis #2
Faculty, students, and industry personnel in the field of applied engineering and technology

The Audience Of Jesus s Speech
The audience that Jesus was speaking to was engulfed in the teaching of the day. Not only through the
hearing of the teachings, but also through the actions of those in religious leadership and the actions of
normal every day people. Jesus made sure that the church was aware that he was not discounting the
law or trying to replace it, but rather he was getting back to the heart of the law and showing how
kingdom people live out these laws . Jesus did this by going through laws that had been given and
misinterpreted, and then Jesus guides them on what the law was originally trying to say. I will argue
that Jesus was trying to get back to the heart of the laws that were given, as well as encourage his
followers to give up their rights for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Verse 33 in Matthew 5 the first type of oaths that are addressed are oaths made to the Lord. Something
that was common to both the Jewish culture and the Gentile culture is that the mention of a deity in an
oath spoke to the truth of the oath and also to punish the one taking the oath if what was affirmed was
not true . People soon began manipulating this by thinking that they could manipulate God into doing
things . They were trying to limit the freedom which God possesses. Jesus then goes on to say, Do not
swear at all and continues on to list several things that are not to be sworn by. During this time, if
someone had made an oath and it turned out to be false, as long as the offending party had not sworn
to the Lord it was not looked at as a serious offense . Swearing by heaven, earth, Jerusalem, or even
one s own head was an even less serious type of oath and if people were already doubting the
assurance of the Lord, how much more would they have questioned the truthfulness of an oath made
to something seen as a lesser binding object ? One commentator notes that although the Greek word
choice is an unconditional negative it does not preclude all oaths. To take this as an unconditional
statement poses significant problems for the audience. In the Old Testament God himself made oaths .
Some commentators would even say that when Jesus makes the truly, truly statements he is swearing
to be true . One commentary even goes on to say, in

James T. Russell and the Invention of the Compact Disc Essay
James T. Russell and the Invention of the Compact Disc
James Russell was born in Bremerton, Washington in 1931. His first invention, at six years old, was a
remote control battleship with a storage chamber for his lunch. In 1953, he earned his Bachelor of Arts
in physics and graduated from Reed College in Portland. Afterwards he went to work as a Physicist in
General Electric s nearby labs in Richland, Washington. There he started many experimental
instrumentation projects. He was one of the first to use a color TV screen and keyboard with a
computer. He designed and built the first electron beam welder.

He knew that if you could represent the binary 0 and 1 with dark and light, then a device could be
produced that is able to read sounds or any other information without wearing it out and if he could
make the binary compact enough he could store a bunch on a small piece of film.
Bettelle let him pursue his project and in 1970, after years of work, he succeeded in inventing the first
digital to optical recording and playback system, the CD.
A CD is a simple round piece of plastic about 4/100ths of an inch thick, and 12 centimeters in
diameter used for electronic recording, storing, and playback. Most of a CD consists of an injection
moulded piece of clear polycarbonate plastic. During manufacturing, this plastic
is impressed with microscopic bumps arranged as a single, continuous, extremely long spiral track of
data circling from the inside of the disc to the outside. Once the clear piece of polycarbonate is
formed, a thin, reflective aluminum layer is put onto the disc, covering the bumps. Then a thin acrylic
layer is sprayed over the aluminum to protect it, and the CD label is printed onto the acrylic. The
compact disc was first used for audio storage only, but are now used to store audio, video, text, and
any other information in digital form, and are able to hold 783 megabytes in all.
The CD works, because binary information is

Using Raw Data From Oil Fields
Problem Statement
We want to try and develop a material balance equation that tries to give an accurate estimate of the
original gas in place in a coalbed methane reservoir considering the absorbed gases, free gases, rock
compressibility and certain factors that have strong effect on the original gas in place.
Considering so many MBE equations that have been presented by different researchers, we are going
to be using raw data from oil fields to with researchers developed material balance equation to
calculate the OGIP in the reservoir and compare the results to various simulation results to see the
similarities and differences between them.
Methodology
We will be considering G.R king (1993) MBE and E. Firanda Material balance equations and doing
our calculations based on their developed equations. We would be comparing these results with the
result gotten from the finite difference simulator mentioned in king s paper so validate and see the
viability of applying this MBE s to actual reservoirs.
We used the parameters for a 6ft coalbed reservoir stated in kings (1993) and E. Firanda (2011) paper.

Animosity In Beowulf
Hrothgar, the ruler of the Danes, places the people of his city as the highest priority. Not being timid to
present emotions along with wisdom and admirability are certain qualities held by Hrothgar.
Additionally, he lacks vigor to physically combat his civilian enemies, as he displays the aspects of an
aging ruler. Hrothgar displays that he is not a careless king in terms of his people, showing grievance

When Beowulf arrives to assist Hrothgar with the occurring murders in Heorot, Hrothgar explains
what has happened in his kingdom, My tongue grows heavy,/and my heart, when I try to tell you what

Laughter In Felicidade Eterna
Laughter is something that breaks tensions, forms bonds between its victims, and can cheer up your
day. It has been scientifically proven that laughter sends rushes of dopamine (the brain s happy drug )
to the brain, in which results in you being in a better mood. Everyone is different; hence, everyone
will find their own definition of what is funny. Though, there are usually socially acceptable things to
laugh at and to not within a community. For example, in America, it is not socially acceptable to laugh
if you find out someone has died, or if someone is severely injured. First instinct is to cry, consult the
family, and have alone time. However, in Felicidade Eterna, their first instinct is to make it a positive
situation and laugh it

Living in Anticipation of God s Future
Living in Anticipation of God s Future Theologians offer different views about the future of humanity.
In particular, Jurgen Moltmann offers an eschatology that relates hope and faith with God s future. In
Theology of Hope: On the Ground and the Implications of a Christian Eschatology (1967) and Hope
and History, Moltmann explains how we should live in hope as we anticipate God s future. He
considers that despite the sufferings we bear in the present world, our hope and faith will be our guide
in living life according to the will of God.
In Theology of Hope , Moltmann emphasizes the relationship between hope and faith. He implies that
the foundation of hope is faith in the resurrection. Because we believe in the ... Show more content on

Peter says, Live in harmony with one another ... be sympathetic, compassionate, and humble. (Peter
3:8) We must love one another and be kind to each other. It is easy to be kind to people who are nice
to you, but especially be kind to the people who are not so nice to you. Also, James says, Do not
criticize each other, brothers. Whoever makes it his habit to criticize his brother or to judge his brother
is judging the law and condemning the law. But if you condemn the law, you are not a doer of the law
but its judge. (James 4:11) He is saying that we should not pass judgment on others for who are we to
do so. God is the judge, and no man has the power to do so. The idea of discouragement and judgment
is one that does not fit into this particular living. Instead of slandering one another we should be
compassionate and humble.
In accordance with both lifestyles, we must be able to forgive. Looking at the scene of Jesus death, we
are taught the ultimate way of living in anticipation. Forgiveness is a main factor in this process and
Jesus does this to the full extent. He sets the standard when while nailed to the cross he says, Father,
forgive them for they know not what they do. At the moment of his most extreme suffering, Jesus
prays for the forgiveness of his murderers. In a sense, there should be nothing that we cannot forgive.

Social Media And Its Effects On The World Today Without...
You have to admit it s hard to imagine the world today without the Internet. However, it seems it s
hard just for some us. A recent study from the B2B research firm Clutch, revealed that more than 46%
of small businesses in the United States still don t have a website for their company. Numerous
reasons were listed for not having an online presence, for instance, around 12% of small business
representatives said that they use social media networks in place of static site. But the most popular
reason by far was the cost of maintaining a site.
Now, while starting and maintaining a website will definitely cost you, in reality, you don t have to
spend a ton of money in order to have a fully functional, modern site and keep up with the
competition. On the other hand, there are some things you cannot ignore if you want to save as much

Theme Of Nature In The Snows Of Hemingway
Hemingway loved nature and his stories transmit this love. They also reflect his belief that a man is
just an animal among animals. This trait is present in The Snows of Kilimanjaro and Big Two Hearted
River two of Hemingway s stories. Both take place in a land where the civilized men have not
destroyed its virginity and purity. But regardless of the purity of nature, death cannot be escaped.
Death is a natural phenomenon and it accompanies all the living. In his stories, Hemingway s joins life
with death, clarity with darkness, and creation with destruction. In both stories the characters happen
to be in a situation which uncovers their true nature, a nature which seeks mental and physical wild
freedom. The characters are escaping from death, but death is their shadow.

The Macro Environment
The macro environment
Introduction
Marketing s role is to match the capabilities and resources within the organisation with market
opportunities external to the organisation. Understanding customer needs is central to achieving this
aim, but marketers must also be aware of factors that can cause customer needs to evolve. A change in
customer needs will impact upon the organisation s ability to serve its customers. This means that
marketers have to be knowledgeable about what is happening in the external environment, or macro
environment.
Beyond the organisations that immediately influence a company s operations lies the macro
environment. This consists of the larger social and international forces that affect the society within
which a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nations have different levels of income:
Subsistence economies consume what they produce, so provide limited market opportunities.
Industrial economies offer rich markets with varied goods.
The operation of the economic environment is affected by government economic policy. In struggling
economies, consumer purchasing power is reduced. Consumers at different income levels spend their
money on different things. Economic variables affect these spending patterns.
Marketing
The economic problems faced by some countries have meant that some international marketers cannot
be paid in hard currency. To make sales, therefore, they have had to barter their products. An example
of this was the barter of Pepsi Cola for Russian vodka by the Pepsi company and the former Soviet
government.
Nature
This is important to marketers insofar as it is the source of many raw materials and fluctuation in
supply can affect the prices paid for purchases. Furthermore, the increasing cost of some raw materials
has meant that recycling of some materials, such as aluminium, has become economic.
There is increasing pressure from public opinion as to where raw materials are sourced from, and their
effect on the natural environment. Paper manufacturers have had to pay attention to sourcing pulp
from renewable forests, where trees are replanted to make up for those which have been felled. There
is also pressure on them not to use chemicals and bleaches in their

To start with, I should say that apart from my own liking for this place, there are a lot of important
features of living in this city which make one s life better. First of all, the population density in LA,
which is about 3040/km2, is quite high, but in contrast with Chicago, where the density is about
4447/km2, the city is not overpopulated, and it is not as densely populated as New York, where the
density is 160/km2. So, Los Angeles is the golden mean. The weather is also very pleasant: one won t

In winter it is 9,4 degrees above zero, which is far warmer than the average January temperatures in
NY and especially in Chicago. However, the average January low temperature in Miami is still higher
than LA s temperature, as it is 15 degrees above zero. In addition, Los Angeles has the lowest rainfall
index among the given cities, so there s not much of a chance of catching a cold, and the biggest
amount of sunny days. As you can see, the weather conditions in LA are wonderful and definetely
count as an advantage of living in Los Angeles. Furthermore, in comparison with Miami and Dallas
crime indexes, the crime index in LA is not very high. On the other hand, it is a pity that the air quality
in Los Angeles is incredibly bad as it is only 1 point out of 100, which makes the air quality index in
LA the lowest, whereas Miami has 65,3 points and Dallas has 32,3. Unfortunately, the cost of living in
Los Angeles is rather high, exceeding the average USA cost 1.5 times and being only a bit lower than
in New York. However, the sales tax in LA is not very big in contrast with Chicago and NY s indexes.

Roswell History
Over the years, the city of Roswell has experienced many minor and drastic changes both inside and
outside of school. With a new generation comes a new city. Things that were once landmarks of
Roswell are now faint memories. Many existed so many years ago that the underclassmen have no
recollection of the hidden gems in Roswell s past. As the senior class nears graduation, many are
making an extra effort to embrace their hometown. Let s take a trip down memory lane and remember
some of the greatest things Roswell ever had to offer. The weird hut in the Target parking lot: The
stand alone hut is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of the famous Target parking lot.
Now, it s an emissions testing building, but, long ago, it used to be an ice cream place. That s right

Evaluation Of The 10 Essential Public Health Services
This paper is about the evaluation of the 10 essential Public Health Services and how they can be
helpful in the prevention of HIV in communities across the nation. In addition, the paper depicts how
the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) has been able to incorporate the 10 essential public
health services in its fight against HIV disease. The paper will discuss the assessment of the HIV
disease situation in Chicago neighborhoods; policy development by the Chicago Department of Public
Health and the assurance that solutions to priority problems are based on scientific evidence.
Furthermore, the interconnection of the various essential public health service in the prevention and
treatment of HIV and the support the department has for the families of their resident that are afflicted
with HIV virus will be discussed. Finally, an inferred conclusion will be drawn from my research
about the efficiency of the Chicago Department of Public Health and their incorporation of the 10
essential public health functions in their services to those HIV positive residents in the city of

According to the CDC (2015), more than one million people are living with HIV in the United States,

The Great Train Robbery, And The Great Train Robbery
The Western times were times of legends, cowboys, train robberies, and valiant acts of courage. There
are many different things you could discuss when talking about the Western era and I wanted to
discuss the train robberies by comparing a film and a piece of artwork. Although both The Great Train
Robbery by Edwin S Porter and Wilcox Train Robbery by Andy Thomas convey how the west was a
place where you did what you had to do to survive.Edwin S Porter emphasizes the train robbery and
how people would go to any length to get the money they needed to survive, whereas Andy Thomas
emphasizes on the violence that the robbers endued on the train. When the group of train robbers
robbed the train they did it in a more of a reckless manner while still being intelligent about robbing
the train. The ways that they were reckless were holding a man at gunpoint right in front of a police
officer. This was reckless because if the officer had looked behind the door then they would have been
busted and the robbery would have been compromised. Another way that they showed recklessness
was that they forced everyone out of the passenger train car and out onto the tracks. This was reckless
because if anyone had seen people being forced out of their train cars then they would have known
something bad was happening. Although they were reckless they also had some intelligent ideas. For
example when they were as sneaky as possible when walking around the train yard that was smart. The
smartest thing that the train robbers did in the film was when they detached the locomotive from all
the passenger cars. It was a smart move because if they didn t then they would have been slowed
down and would increase the chance of them getting caught.
These works have many similarities and some large differences. To start with the similarities they both
wanted money so they decided to rob a train. Also they both used some form of violence to get the job
done. The differences are large and to start the film did it in the middle of the day while the art work
did it in the night. Next was the location because the film did it right at the train yard while the
artwork did it in what appears to be the middle of the desert. These show how the west

How Did Popular Sovereignty Influence The Government
Popular Sovereignty has changed a lot with the people who had an influence on our government. In
1787 not very many people had an influence on our government. The only people whose opinion
mattered were white, old men with property. Now, in 2017, we have a lot more people that can express
their opinions and vote for what they agree with.
In 2017 all United States citizens can vote as long as their 18 years or older and registered. This has
allowed thousands of more people to vote. How did this huge of a change happen? From amendments,
acts, cases, and more. The first amendment gives everyone the right for petition, assembly, speech,
religion, and press. This gives everyone the right to speak their opinion of their political views,
religious beliefs, and ect. Only white men voting changed with the adding of the amendments 15th
and 19th. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 lead to the 15th amendment. This amendment gave people of
any race to be allowed to vote. All men of any race was given the rights to vote. Later on came the
19th amendment. The 19th amendment gave all women above the legal age of 21 the right to vote.
Eventually the voting age got lowered to 18. Boys being drafted at age 18 were complaining which
helped this amendment be ratified so quickly. They were mad because there was so many things they

Compare And Contrast Aztec And Inca Empires
The Aztec and Inca Empires had similarities and differences that contributed to their individual
successes. Each Empire had different origins yet the both grew and became powerful Empires. The
Aztecs, also known as the Mexica, originated in the valley in Mexico and began as nomadic people,
moving from place to place until their powerful neighbors drove them away. Around 1325 A.D. they
came upon a valley in Mexico and settled around the surrounding lakes. The Aztecs built the capital,
Tenochtitlan, on an island in the middle of Lake Texcoco, and started to rapidly expand. The Incas
also expanded, originating in 1350 A.D. at the city of Cuzco which is located in modern day Peru.

The Aztec government never consolidated complete leadership over the Empire and instead relied on a
tribute system for payment. The Inca government, however, enforced strict control with harsh
punishments. The Incas also had a labor system, called Mita, that required all taxpayers to work for a
certain period in each year. Each of these systems played major roles in the longevity of the Empires.
Because the Aztecs enforced little control on its
conquered peoples, many of them joined Cortez to fight against the Aztecs, which lead to the Aztecs
decline. The Incan Empire lasted significantly longer due to the control the government had on the
people. The complexity and strict rules of the
Empire made it harder for Pizarro to conquer them.
Unlike the governments of the two Empires, the religions were extremely similar. Both Empires were
polytheistic and worshipped their sun gods above all others. Human sacrifices were common in both
civilizations to appease their various gods and goddesses. Some of these deities included nature gods
and goddesses that were believed to play a role in determining the year s harvest.
Because both kings of these Empires were considered divine, religion was used to unify and gain

How Is Curley Presented In Of Mice And Men
How far can pettiness push a person? In Of Mice and Men, Curley is early on discovered to be one of
the main antagonist of the story because of his hostile attitude. Curley is simply a bad egg who forever
changes the other characters lives, maybe even for the worst. John Steinbeck includes the antagonistic
character of Curley to serve as a classic bully who shows the petty side of society. Steinbeck uses both
direct and indirect characterization to show that Curley is a combative type of person. Curley parades
his combative nature when he readily pulverizes sweet Lenny. Curley slashed at Lenny with his left,
and then same down on his nose with a right. Lenny gave a cry of terror. (Steinbeck 63). This

Kind of like he s mad at them because he ain t a big guy. You seen little guys like that, ain t you?
Always scrappy? (Steinbeck 26). Curley is taking something so trivial as height, and letting it control
his feelings. Another example of Curley s pettiness is his reaction to when his wife died. Slim nodded.
We might, he said. If we could keep Curley in, we might. But Curley s gonna want to shoot him.
Curley is still mad about his hand. An s pose they lock him up an strap him down and put him in a
cage. That ain t no good, George. (Steinbeck 97). Slim clearly says that Curley wants to kill Lenny for
revenge about his hand. You would think that Curley would be motivated by the murder of his wife to
kill Lenny, but to the contrary, he is largely motivated by his bruised ego from the broken hand
incident. Curley is so petty that he is willing to take a man s life over an insignificant

Essay about The Turks and Mongols
In order to discuss the movements of Asiatic peoples into Europe from the first inroad of the Huns to
the conquests of the Osmanli Turks in the sixteenth century, it will be necessary to review briefly the
events in central and eastern Asia which preceded and precipitated these incursions.
From the time that the Irano Aryan ancestors had arrived in Russian Turkestan in anticipation of their
descent into the hills of northwestern India, much of this grassy plain had been the home of those
Iranians who remained behind while their kinsmen climbed the mountains which would take them into
India and the Irano Afghan plateau. These Iranians apparently developed, or borrowed, a high degree
of adaptation to their steppe environment, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we view the Hunnish inroad into Europe in the light of the total context of Old World history, it
ceases to be a strange inruption of hideous and invincible barbarians darting out of nowhere, as it at
first appeared to the Byzantines and Romans. The Huns were a people who had been exposed to a
high civilization that of China; they were cultured if illiterate, and in every sense the match of the
frightened adversaries whom they met in Europe. When we examine the details of these invasions, we
see that it was not one simple inroad, but a series of them in which a perplexing confusion of names is
involved. Chief of the newcomers, after the Huns, were the Avars, who arrived in the sixth century.
The Huns considered these their kinsmen and equals, and later amalgamated with them after the Avars
had, in the eighth century, been defeated by Charlemagne and had retreated, some to Hungary and
others to the Don country.
From the fall of the Huns until the rise of the Mongols some thousand years later, the history of central
Asia is simply a repetition of the same theme; some obscure sub tribe would become important, win
leadership over the others, and head new invasions of increasing complexity. The history of southern
Russia became extremely complicated, for the steppes of the Don country served as a terminal point
for all but the most serious of these movements.
After the Avars came the Turks, called

Numbers, simple lines connected to each other in different ways. Yet these simple configurations of
lines have created the basis for all living things. Measurements of any kind require the use of these
mere human constructs. The numbers 185463 are no different: they re just numbers. However, humans
are able to understand them in so many different ways. The two most important numbers 1 and 8; 18
proves itself to be a multiple of the other two pairs of digits. For example, 18 goes into 54, which is
the combination of the second digits in the number. The last two digits, 36, are also divisible by 18
which is the inverse of the third digit pairing in the series. In addition 18 is divisible by 9, which is
also a characteristic of the other two terms. It can also be shown that every sequential pair of digits
add up to 9. It is more clearly shown with an example. The first two numbers, 1 and 8, add up to 9.
The next two numbers, 5 and 4, add up to 9, and also the next two numbers 6 and 3 also add up to 9.

Saline Instillation Down The Endotracheal Tube
ABSTRACT Saline instillation down the endotracheal tube or tracheotomy to aid in secretion removal
is a common practice in the intensive care unit (ICU). Normal saline instillation is used to decrease the
viscosity of mucous in order to mobilize secretions and aid in suctioning mechanically ventilated
patients in the intensive care units. Many respiratory therapists and nurses are currently using saline
with endotracheal suctioning without an adequate knowledge of any existing evidence based research
or recommendation to guide the practice. The purpose of this study was to investigate and determine
whether saline instillation for bronchial hygiene was beneficial or harmful to the patients and to
provide evidence based guidelines to be followed by healthcare providers in the intensive care units.
This is a comprehensive review from the already researched articles on the use of saline instillation
down the endotracheal tube for the purpose of mobilizing secretions and suctioning mechanically
ventilated patients in the intensive care units (ICU). Databases such as PUBMED, Google Scholar,

ride there we all seemed happy with chatter, catching up on our gossip. In total we were three girls and
two guys. Once we arrived I could smell the deep aura of pine and green woods. The trees were
basked in sun, giving of a cool shade; the branches of the trees seemed to follow the movements of the
silent breeze that passed. Birds seem to fly by slowly almost lazily, there chirping heard from a distant

moment. However, once united together they became a truly formidable couple and most of the time
inseparable; they thrived off each other in many ways. As she adjusted her eyes, she tilted her head up
and saw a familiar face.
Morning he smiled
I wish you wouldn t do that, it makes you a little creepy
Ric said nothing and just rolled his eyes.
Ric, what are you doing? Serena continued as he just smiled and ran his fingers through her hair.
Can t I admire you?
You can when I m awake Serena smirked
So hard to please aren t you? Ric matched her smirk, additionally with the same bright shining eyes.
Oh, says you Serena snarked
I forgot you were twice as grumpy in the morning
I m not grumpy, have you seen yourself; you make Jack Dee

Sexually Transmitted Infections
In further understanding what sexually transmitted infections are one must know exactly what the
different types of sexually transmitted infections. In this case, the World Health Organization and
Wikipedia.com clearly define each type of infection: Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection
caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. In women, symptoms may include abnormal vaginal
discharge, burning during urination, and bleeding in between periods, although most women do not
experience any symptoms. Symptoms in men include pain when urinating, and abnormal discharge
from their penis. If left untreated in both men and women, Chlamydia can infect the urinary tract and
potentially lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID can cause serious problems during
pregnancy and even has the potential to cause infertility. It can cause a woman to have a potentially
deadly ectopic pregnancy, in which the child is born outside of the uterus. However, Chlamydia can be
cured with antibiotics. The two most common forms of herpes are caused by infection with herpes
simplex virus (HSV). HSV 1 is acquired orally and causes cold sores. HSV 2 is acquired during sexual
contact and affects the genitals. Some people are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms. Those
that do experience symptoms usually notice them 2 to 20 days after exposure which last 2 to 4 weeks.
Symptoms can include small fluid filled blisters, headaches, backaches, itching or tingling sensations
in the genital or

Pet Industry Analysis
Industry Description and Outlook Based off an article Miami Herald in 2014, dog grooming and
boarding businesses make around $100,000+ annually. With this information, the market share for one
of these companies would be .0017% market share, while the higher end businesses in the pet services
industry make $1,000,000+ annually which translates to a .017% market share. I did get a chance to
speak to a representative from the Pet Paradise Resort and Day Spa which said that they make an
estimated $70,000 $80,000 per year. Based off this research we can expect to make at least $70,000 a
year. Therefore, in five years we should make at least $350,000 and in 10 years 700,000. According to

Some of the trends in pet grooming and boarding in regards to technology include internet sales,
robotic pet sitters with cameras, interactive technology, applications, and many more. Technology not
only creates new products for retail companies to sell, but also plays a major role in changing the way
retail companies do business. There are trends in the retail industry in general that allow businesses to
develop new processes that increase efficiency with computerized sales and data analysis to easily

Government in the Macro Environment The Animal Welfare Act was signed into law in 1966. It is the
only Federal law in the United States that regulates the treatment of animals in research, exhibition,
transport, and by dealers. There are rules in effect for housing, care, and welfare, including disaster
planning. In addition, there are a few federal regulations that have an impact on the production and
sale of pet food products. As of 2007, the Food and Drug Administration developed regulations on pet
food ingredients and processing control standards.

The Man In The Dead Machine Poem
In the poem The Man in the Dead Machine , the main theme is about fate and how sometimes neither
outcomes is what you want. Lord of the Flies mirrors this when the boys firstly land on the island and
when Simon is killed. Both pieces, discuss how both outcomes of a scenario aren t favourable and
how you can t ever be at peace with your outcome.
In the poem The Man in the Dead Machine , the central image is about fate, fate decides your life and
how no matter what the outcome may be, you ll never fully recover from the events. In the second
stanza, it s about how if the man had died in his aircraft, and been left there for a long time, shown by
the cracked leather (line 14/15) . How if no one came to find him, and if he dies alone. For ... Show

He s dead, but he s at peace and not struggling day to day with memories of the experience and the
trauma that comes with it in the third stanza. In the third stanza, it shows a different ending; if the
shrapnel missed him (line 18/19), where he isn t dead but his thoughts are always about the plane and
how he feels trapped by them. He thinks back to when he was in the Hellcat (conveniently named
since his life is now like hell for him), and how going on the train every morning and sitting there
affects him, and brings him back to when he was in the plane. In Lord of the Flies, it reflects with how
the boys will never be at peace. If both the boys and the pilot had died, they would be at peace because
now they don t have to fight anymore. The pilot fights later in his life after the fighter jet, and the boys
experience it all on the island. The pilot has flashbacks everyday about his life, and the boys go
slightly insane and become savages. These boys we re the ones saved and not dragged out to sea
(chapter one, page 3). But later on in the novel it s debatable if really they were saved based on some
of the very irrational decisions they make. Or in chapter seven when they are pretending to hunt and
are using Robert as the pig. They attack Robert and he tries to escape the circles

Origin of Yoga
The practice of Yoga dates back to thousands of years ago and is believed to have been introduced to
the world by a person who was known as Adiyogi. Adiyogi, more famously know as Lord Shiva
himself, was first seen in upper parts of the Himalayas, where he was seen in a mystic self
transcendence. Seeing him in this state seven seekers sought to be his disciples and learn the practice
of Yoga that would lead them to this transcendence too. Adiyogi accepted these seven people as his
disciples and became the first guru ever known to mankind, Aadi Guru. The seven discliples learned
and practiced Yoga from the Aadi Guru and then set to travel to different parts of the world to impart
their learning.
Yoga thus became knowledge which was imparted through practice and ... Show more content on

Stereotypes have existed in American culture for centuries. Early in American history stereotypes of
Negroes and Mexicans predominately associate them with lower class attributes (Campbell, 1967).
Major social events can have an effect on how certain groups and assemblies of individuals are

Literature Review and Purpose
Racism and the Workplace
Racism can be thought of as a superiority complex, in that some ethnicities are better or more superior
to others (Bhopal, 2004). This complex is used to construct and validate actions that will build and
maintain many constructs of discrimination and disproportion. Racial inequality and discrimination is
ingrained in racism, it is a direct echo suffered by the minority individuals in a prejudiced society.
One key factor when exploring how stereotyped individuals that have been victims of discrimination
counter act to stressors such as ethnic slurs, supremacy and other acts of environmental racism is
whether or not they are affected contrarily. The Journal of Critical Public Health provides a more

Who Is Joseph Conrad Uncivilized
Through contemplation of Joseph Conrad s complex descriptions and ideas of life in Africa, or the
heart of darkness, it can be established that he is, in fact, not racist. Conrad was simply expressing the
dark, uncivilized manners of the African people to contrast the light European hoi polloi and the unfair
dehumanization of slaves in his time period. The African people that Conrad viewed as uncivilized
could be considered an act of racism; however, it is also logical to believe that he was merely trying to
demonstrate the common, effete opinion among Europeans of this time frame. This would also explain
Conrad s complex framed narrative as he didn t want to be viewed as racist. His framed narrative
could demonstrate the confusion he had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was not racist, but it could be concluded that Conrad was generally not a fan of humanity; It was
very simple, and at the end of that moving appeal to every altruistic sentiment it blazed at you,
luminous and terrifying like a flash of lightning in a serene sky: Exterminate all the brutes! (Conrad
407). At the surface, this quote seems to be a cry for the brutes or Africans to be destroyed, yet it could
also be assumed that Conrad is absolutely tired of the darkness of mankind in general. Ellie Arielle
addresses this quotation, as well, by saying; Although Kurtz is implying that the people and the
situation in the Congo are in need of some considerable control and that the only solution he sees is
extermination, what Marlow realizes is that humanity is not the cause of the problem and that the
Africans are not the heart of darkness, but that greed and lust for economic freedom is. (Arielle) The
topic of economic freedom appears frequently throughout the novella especially with the arrival of the
ribald Eldorado Exploring Expedition. It is clear that the European men are oblivious to their
surroundings and only interested in money and this is another way for Conrad to show how humanity
has let him down. One critic explains that Heart of Darkness offers an, analysis

Theories Of What Happened To The Dinosaurs
In this task I will be talking about What Happened to the Dinosaurs? . I will be discussing and
explaining two different theories about how the dinosaur became extinct and see what theory has more
evidence to prove that s how the dinosaurs became extinct.
My First theory is the Asteroid Impact Theory. I choose this theory because it has a lot of evidence
suggesting that this is one way that the dinosaurs became extinct. The asteroid that hit 65 million years
ago was approximately 6 15km in diameter, hit the earth with the force of five billion atomic bombs.
The crater of that asteroid was 180km in diameter, was found buried at Chicxulub in Mexico in 1990

The Art Scene Of Tucson, And All Over The World
Creativity and art is becoming such a rising normality in our everyday culture. A new mural with a
political statement is popping up every other week. A person visiting the local pizza joint downtown
can look up on the wall and see a piece of art with a price tag next to it. A local artist painted it and
where else to get public attention than Brooklyn Pizza, in the heart of buzzing downtown. The art
scene is growing quickly, and thanks to the creative means, so is the opportunity for aspiring artists.
Whether it be a political, personal, local, environmental, or just showing U of A pride, local murals
and art are popping up and displaying the creativity of fellow Tucsonans. Art in Tucson, and all over
the world, sets a name for the city, brings the people together and defines a culture. There s such a hub
of cultural exchange here, with Native Americans, Mexican Americans. There really is a lot going on
in the arts (Busler). Local and community art galleries have been around, and are on the rise; Murals,
too, are creating business interest, and create an outlet for creativity. Art shows and auctions get more
artists out into the world, as well as their inspirational pieces. This art scene is only going to grow, and
opportunity along with it. Culture is the puzzle piece in this scene. Cultural diversity is a social good
and the wellspring of free expression. Cultural equity means full inclusion, participation, and power
sharing in all of our communities and institutions

in recent years, the stable, loving relationship between Mr. Zeitoun and his wife, Kathy, that was

Canadian Military Improvements
Throughout the 20th century, the Canadian military has improved. WW1 and 2 brought on a new era
of weapons and technologies. During the Cold War; Canada only exported weapons and supplies to
the US mostly. There were other wars like the Afghanistan War and the Iraq War that helped Canada
bring new things to the table. But throughout the past few decades, the major ways that the Canadian
Military has improved, includes; diversity, military technological improvements, and soldier
treatment. During World War 1 the majority of men went off to fight in the war, the factories back at
home needed people to work in them so; women were allowed to work in those factories. But when

A former U.S. admiral who follows NATO closely, is dismayed at the decline of the RCN. Even if
there were improvements to the Canadian military, it declines. The Canadian government had planned

aircraft have also been bumping up against Canada s territorial claims in the Arctic. [Gilmore, Scott,

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual And Nonjudgmental Groups In The...
Target Population
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community does not just represent one specific
group or individual, LGBT represents every race, religion, ethnicity, and social class. I would not say
that the attributes that cause the such a high increase in suicide attempts and successful suicides as a
unique quality. More like, they are a vulnerabilities that make individuals feel as if they do not belong.
People in the LGBT community feel out of place, not accepted, the community has an anti gay stigma,
harassed, discriminated against and little to no family or community support (Health People 2020,
2017). The rise in campus resources such as information on depression, suicide and STD s can related
to these vulnerabilities because the LGBT community is silently calling for help. They are
experiencing some type of trouble, some group on campus, other individuals or just the community is
not welcoming to them. The campus might not have very strict laws against bullying, which is not
effectively protecting its students. The students in who identify as LGBT might not feel like the school
has effective programs for them, or that the campus health is o a save nonjudgmental place for them. I
do believe that the LGBT community can be divided into sections. The different L G B T can each be
spilt up into different sections. Since each group faces their own problem, for example, Lesbians only
like women, so they will utilize different resources then say

  • 2. Rhetorical Analysis On Mcdonalds Broke My Heart Michele Rose Limongello, Conor O Brien, Jillian Cottingham, and Dylan Nicaj WR 100.28 Prof. Desai 23 October, 2018 Rhetorical Analysis Assignment Malcolm Gladwell s podcast on Revisionist History, McDonald s Broke My Heart , is centered around Phil Sokolof s experience of having a heart attack. Sokolof single handedly decided to attack the issue of unhealthy food head on. Sokolof does this through the help of newspapers and billboards, to promote a healthier lifestyle within the United States. Malcolm Gladwell discusses during the podcast how McDonald s oil is unhealthy for humans, through the use of pathos. Gladwell effectively spreads this message throughout the duration of his podcast. The podcast informs the listeners how unhealthy McDonald s oil was and how the company needed to make a change in order to provide its customers with a healthy food option. Throughout Gladwell s podcast, he raised questions regarding the various issues and health concerns around McDonald s French fries. The first question raised was, what is the correlation between fast food itself and genetics? The question raised could be the possibility of genetically passing heart diseases down through generations, rather than the intake of McDonald s fries. Sokolof s doctors tell him his diet and his high cholesterol levels put him at risk for more heart attacks so he decides to do something about it, not just for himself, but for everyone (Says). The podcast seemed to focus more on the new oil used to fry the fries, rather than think about genetic heart disorders. It could have been possible that Sokolof may have had a genetic heart disorder he did not know about, and could have been shown through his late ages. It could also have been possible the amount of fried food Sokolof had put into his body could have led to the high cholesterol problems, which could lead to possible heart attacks in his future. Allowing the audience to have a better outlook on the real issues behind McDonald s new way of frying their French fries. All in all, Gladwell s podcast effectively proves how it is just the food itself, and it is not the genetics that had led to Sokolof s heart attack. Another question that Gladwell raises, was Sokolof ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Global Clinical Trial Is A Very Challenging Job The global clinical trial is a very challenging job; it involves strategic decision making which can affect drug development and approval process. Many factors should be considered in selecting countries, most common in feasibility studies include: the prevalence of the disease, regulatory requirement, patients recruitment, experience clinical trial specialist availability, ethical issues, language barrier, and marketing strategy. In this report, we perform a thorough assessment of conducting clinical trials in countries such as Canada, Germany, Spain, Japan and the US. The criteria chosen for this assessment include disease prevalence, insurance coverage, patient enrollment rates, regulatory environment and finally costs associated with ... When compared with men, women of all ages diagnosed with T2DM have even a higher risk of heart disease (NIDKK, 2016). Why selection of Germany? According to traveler s digest, Germany s size is comparatively small to the state of California (2014). Despite its small size, Germany ranks amongst the worst for all things diabetes. As of 2008, 7.4 million (12% of the total population) adult citizens are plagued with diabetes in Germany with an additional 4.1 million citizens on the brink of having the condition with prediabetes. Type II diabetes accounts for about 80 90% of all diabetic cases in Germany. It s also significant to note that 1/10 diabetes sufferers in Germany also have coronary heart disease (Novo Nordisk, 2008). Additionally, there have been a predicted 3 million undiagnosed cases of diabetes waiting to add to more startling statistics (Tenderich, 2011). When it comes to clinical research, it appears Germany has a legitimate presence and good rapport with industries that cater to healthcare. • 4. Evaluation Of Huawei s Expansion Strategy Option on Future Operations In consideration of Huawei s expansion strategy in Canada over the last six years, Huawei has a high competitive strength within the nation and Canada is high in attractiveness to continued operations (Celly et al., 2015, p. 28; Daniels et al., 2015, p. 597). However, Huawei s globalization strategy remains under pressure from the adverse effects of the U.S., Australian and Indian governments exclusion of Huawei from government procurement (Celly et al., 2015, p. 1). Therefore, Huawei must leverage the positive relationships and image it has built within Canada to negate the spread of the negative brand image perpetuated by the U.S. Congress report. As such, two options are presented to further bolster the positive image of Huawei within Canada and abroad. The first option is to create a joint venture with Ericsson to collaborate on enterprise solutions (Daniels et al., 2015, p. 592). Considering both organizations enterprise solutions business segments are a relatively small portion of the businesses, it would stand to assume that together, both businesses could develop an enterprise solutions industry through collaborative research and development (Celly et al., 2015, pp. 19 26; Daniels et al., 2015, p. 583). This is strategically attractive, as Ericsson is the preferred vendor of Canada s largest telecom operator, Rogers (Celly et al. 2015, pp. 24 25). This strategic alliance would open Huawei to Rogers for future business, lending to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The different peoples moving into and out brought their unique cultures and added to the mixture that became Germany. The first known people to settle in Germany was the Celts, who lived there before the birth of Christ. Words from the Celtic language became part of what would later develop into the German Language. The name of the Danube, Neckar, and Rhine Rivers, were names left over by the Celts. The Celts were great traders and left behind trade routes that the Romans subsequently reused and improved. Julius Ceaser, Roman Emperor, gave the area east of the Rhine the name of Germania and the Romans ruled Germany for two hundred years. This act was created in the wake of the terrorist attacks in New York City on September 11 that same year. The USAPA provides agencies the ability to ask for student records in concurrence with a terrorism investigation. This was previously protected by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. These agencies must, however, receive a court order from a Federal District court. • 8. The Audience Of Jesus s Speech The audience that Jesus was speaking to was engulfed in the teaching of the day. Not only through the hearing of the teachings, but also through the actions of those in religious leadership and the actions of normal every day people. Jesus made sure that the church was aware that he was not discounting the law or trying to replace it, but rather he was getting back to the heart of the law and showing how kingdom people live out these laws . Jesus did this by going through laws that had been given and misinterpreted, and then Jesus guides them on what the law was originally trying to say. I will argue that Jesus was trying to get back to the heart of the laws that were given, as well as encourage his followers to give up their rights for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Verse 33 in Matthew 5 the first type of oaths that are addressed are oaths made to the Lord. Something that was common to both the Jewish culture and the Gentile culture is that the mention of a deity in an oath spoke to the truth of the oath and also to punish the one taking the oath if what was affirmed was not true . People soon began manipulating this by thinking that they could manipulate God into doing things . They were trying to limit the freedom which God possesses. Jesus then goes on to say, Do not swear at all and continues on to list several things that are not to be sworn by. During this time, if someone had made an oath and it turned out to be false, as long as the offending party had not sworn to the Lord it was not looked at as a serious offense . Swearing by heaven, earth, Jerusalem, or even one s own head was an even less serious type of oath and if people were already doubting the assurance of the Lord, how much more would they have questioned the truthfulness of an oath made to something seen as a lesser binding object ? One commentator notes that although the Greek word choice is an unconditional negative it does not preclude all oaths. To take this as an unconditional statement poses significant problems for the audience. In the Old Testament God himself made oaths . Some commentators would even say that when Jesus makes the truly, truly statements he is swearing to be true . One commentary even goes on to say, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He knew that if you could represent the binary 0 and 1 with dark and light, then a device could be produced that is able to read sounds or any other information without wearing it out and if he could make the binary compact enough he could store a bunch on a small piece of film. Bettelle let him pursue his project and in 1970, after years of work, he succeeded in inventing the first digital to optical recording and playback system, the CD. A CD is a simple round piece of plastic about 4/100ths of an inch thick, and 12 centimeters in diameter used for electronic recording, storing, and playback. Most of a CD consists of an injection moulded piece of clear polycarbonate plastic. During manufacturing, this plastic is impressed with microscopic bumps arranged as a single, continuous, extremely long spiral track of data circling from the inside of the disc to the outside. Once the clear piece of polycarbonate is formed, a thin, reflective aluminum layer is put onto the disc, covering the bumps. Then a thin acrylic layer is sprayed over the aluminum to protect it, and the CD label is printed onto the acrylic. The compact disc was first used for audio storage only, but are now used to store audio, video, text, and any other information in digital form, and are able to hold 783 megabytes in all. • 10. Using Raw Data From Oil Fields Problem Statement We want to try and develop a material balance equation that tries to give an accurate estimate of the original gas in place in a coalbed methane reservoir considering the absorbed gases, free gases, rock compressibility and certain factors that have strong effect on the original gas in place. Considering so many MBE equations that have been presented by different researchers, we are going to be using raw data from oil fields to with researchers developed material balance equation to calculate the OGIP in the reservoir and compare the results to various simulation results to see the similarities and differences between them. Methodology We will be considering G.R king (1993) MBE and E. Firanda Material balance equations and doing our calculations based on their developed equations. We would be comparing these results with the result gotten from the finite difference simulator mentioned in king s paper so validate and see the viability of applying this MBE s to actual reservoirs. Not being timid to present emotions along with wisdom and admirability are certain qualities held by Hrothgar. • 16. Living in Anticipation of God s Future Living in Anticipation of God s Future Theologians offer different views about the future of humanity. In particular, Jurgen Moltmann offers an eschatology that relates hope and faith with God s future. In Theology of Hope: On the Ground and the Implications of a Christian Eschatology (1967) and Hope and History, Moltmann explains how we should live in hope as we anticipate God s future. He considers that despite the sufferings we bear in the present world, our hope and faith will be our guide in living life according to the will of God. It is easy to be kind to people who are nice to you, but especially be kind to the people who are not so nice to you. Also, James says, Do not criticize each other, brothers. Whoever makes it his habit to criticize his brother or to judge his brother is judging the law and condemning the law. But if you condemn the law, you are not a doer of the law but its judge. (James 4:11) He is saying that we should not pass judgment on others for who are we to do so. God is the judge, and no man has the power to do so. The idea of discouragement and judgment is one that does not fit into this particular living. Instead of slandering one another we should be compassionate and humble. In accordance with both lifestyles, we must be able to forgive. Looking at the scene of Jesus death, we are taught the ultimate way of living in anticipation. Forgiveness is a main factor in this process and Jesus does this to the full extent. He sets the standard when while nailed to the cross he says, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. At the moment of his most extreme suffering, Jesus prays for the forgiveness of his murderers. In a sense, there should be nothing that we cannot forgive. The challenge that Moltmann ... But regardless of the purity of nature, death cannot be escaped. Death is a natural phenomenon and it accompanies all the living. First of all, the population density in LA, which is about 3040/km2, is quite high, but in contrast with Chicago, where the density is about 4447/km2, the city is not overpopulated, and it is not as densely populated as New York, where the density is 160/km2. There are many different things you could discuss when talking about the Western era and I wanted to discuss the train robberies by comparing a film and a piece of artwork. Although both The Great Train Robbery by Edwin S Porter and Wilcox Train Robbery by Andy Thomas convey how the west was a place where you did what you had to do to survive.Edwin S Porter emphasizes the train robbery and how people would go to any length to get the money they needed to survive, whereas Andy Thomas emphasizes on the violence that the robbers endued on the train. When the group of train robbers robbed the train they did it in a more of a reckless manner while still being intelligent about robbing the train. The ways that they were reckless were holding a man at gunpoint right in front of a police officer. This was reckless because if the officer had looked behind the door then they would have been busted and the robbery would have been compromised. Another way that they showed recklessness was that they forced everyone out of the passenger train car and out onto the tracks. This was reckless because if anyone had seen people being forced out of their train cars then they would have known something bad was happening. Although they were reckless they also had some intelligent ideas. For example when they were as sneaky as possible when walking around the train yard that was smart. The smartest thing that the train robbers did in the film was when they detached the locomotive from all the passenger cars. It was a smart move because if they didn t then they would have been slowed down and would increase the chance of them getting caught. These works have many similarities and some large differences. To start with the similarities they both wanted money so they decided to rob a train. Also they both used some form of violence to get the job done. The differences are large and to start the film did it in the middle of the day while the art work did it in the night. Next was the location because the film did it right at the train yard while the artwork did it in what appears to be the middle of the desert. These show how the west ... When we view the Hunnish inroad into Europe in the light of the total context of Old World history, it ceases to be a strange inruption of hideous and invincible barbarians darting out of nowhere, as it at first appeared to the Byzantines and Romans. The Huns were a people who had been exposed to a high civilization that of China; they were cultured if illiterate, and in every sense the match of the frightened adversaries whom they met in Europe. When we examine the details of these invasions, we see that it was not one simple inroad, but a series of them in which a perplexing confusion of names is involved. Chief of the newcomers, after the Huns, were the Avars, who arrived in the sixth century. Measurements of any kind require the use of these mere human constructs. The numbers 185463 are no different: they re just numbers. However, humans are able to understand them in so many different ways. The two most important numbers 1 and 8; 18 proves itself to be a multiple of the other two pairs of digits. For example, 18 goes into 54, which is the combination of the second digits in the number. The last two digits, 36, are also divisible by 18 which is the inverse of the third digit pairing in the series. Saline Instillation Down The Endotracheal Tube ABSTRACT Saline instillation down the endotracheal tube or tracheotomy to aid in secretion removal is a common practice in the intensive care unit (ICU). Normal saline instillation is used to decrease the viscosity of mucous in order to mobilize secretions and aid in suctioning mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care units. Many respiratory therapists and nurses are currently using saline with endotracheal suctioning without an adequate knowledge of any existing evidence based research or recommendation to guide the practice. The purpose of this study was to investigate and determine whether saline instillation for bronchial hygiene was beneficial or harmful to the patients and to provide evidence based guidelines to be followed by healthcare providers in the intensive care units. This is a comprehensive review from the already researched articles on the use of saline instillation down the endotracheal tube for the purpose of mobilizing secretions and suctioning mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care units (ICU). Who Is Joseph Conrad Uncivilized Through contemplation of Joseph Conrad s complex descriptions and ideas of life in Africa, or the heart of darkness, it can be established that he is, in fact, not racist. Conrad was simply expressing the dark, uncivilized manners of the African people to contrast the light European hoi polloi and the unfair dehumanization of slaves in his time period. The African people that Conrad viewed as uncivilized could be considered an act of racism; however, it is also logical to believe that he was merely trying to demonstrate the common, effete opinion among Europeans of this time frame. (Conrad 407). At the surface, this quote seems to be a cry for the brutes or Africans to be destroyed, yet it could also be assumed that Conrad is absolutely tired of the darkness of mankind in general. Ellie Arielle addresses this quotation, as well, by saying; Although Kurtz is implying that the people and the situation in the Congo are in need of some considerable control and that the only solution he sees is extermination, what Marlow realizes is that humanity is not the cause of the problem and that the Africans are not the heart of darkness, but that greed and lust for economic freedom is. (Arielle) The topic of economic freedom appears frequently throughout the novella especially with the arrival of the ribald Eldorado Exploring Expedition.
