The Invention Of The First Industrial Revolution
The First Industrial Revolution
Envision living in a society dominated by factories that just recently transformed from arable land and
farms. Imagine constantly hearing about brand new inventions and ideas that were deemed impossible
only a few years ago. Visualize working long hours in cramped factories, in exchange for low pay and
contagious diseases. For some people that lived during the age of industrialization, this was their
reality of life. During the 18th and 19th century, the world was exponentially industrializing. After the
first industrial revolution in Great Britain, other countries were influenced, such as the United States,
and rapid industrialization occurred. Advanced innovations and ideas developed, along with the
creation of a factory system, leading to the creation of a modern, industrialized world. The cultural
diffusion of ideas and inventions from the British Industrial Revolution to America, aided in the
jumpstart of the First Industrial Revolution.
To understand the causes and lasting effects of the First Industrial Revolution in America, one must
recall the definition of a industrial revolution . YourDictionary.com defines it as ...changes in
manufacturing and transportation that began with fewer things being made by hand but instead made
using machines in larger scale factories ( industrial ). However, during the 19th century, it wasn t
merely just a transition period from an agricultural to industrial society, but rather when when farming

Multi Drum Research Paper
WFLIII Drums Multi Drum Performances
Remember when 1,000 Foo Fighter s fans in Cesana, Italy, played Learn How To Fly in an attempt to
lure the band to play in their beautiful city? No? Well, you can watch a video of the performance here,
and it is full of passion and lightness of spirit.
When musicians who do not usually come together do, it is a special thing, creating spine tingling
moments. And drummers who usually sit behind their kit behind the rest of the band can blow our
minds when they play in tandem with another of their kind.
Let s note some performances that truly rocked, and deserve a look.
6 Notable Multi Drum Performances
1. The Nashville Drummers Jam
Nashville has been described in many ways, though Charles Esten, the non musician actor who stars
in the TV show Nashville may have put it best: There s an authenticity to the music and a truthfulness

2. Stewart Copeland Of The Police And Neil Peart of Rush
The track is called A Little More Noise and the jam that brings together Copeland and Peart can be
heard here. When giants of the drumming world play together, blending their styles, working to
complement each other s talent, the room falls quiet. Stewart Copeland is known as a kind of
alchemist in the music world, bringing together epic talent in his private studio.
3. Queen And The Foo Fighters
A sublime moment in rock unrolled when The Foo Fighters and Queen brought three drummers on the
stage to perform We Will Rock You. You might quibble with the vocals here but drum fans will surely
sit up a little straighter while taking this in.

Mobile Cloud Technology And Technology
Abstract the great emergence of mobile cloud computing has gained lots of interest in these recent
years. Mobile cloud computing consists of mobile devices and cloud computing offering mobile cloud
environment by using a huge number of different mobile devices. Any device uses mobility such as
laptops, tablets, and smart phones is considered as a mobile device. Due to the great improvement of
wireless networks like 4G and the expansion of use of mobile device, many researchers are interested
to provide different methods to use mobile resources for distributed processes to compute many
applications in mobile cloud environment. Although the last mobile devices have improved processing
power, there are some limitations in power capacity, unpredictable network conditions, and
connections availability that must be considered in order to use mobile devices as resource. These
dynamic changes may disconnect a mobile device from the cloud computing and then prevent
applications from completion. In other words, these problems may cause a system to fault more
frequently due to these changes. Therefore, in order to increase the stability of these devices, there
should be a monitoring technique to tolerate system faults. In this paper, we focus on Markov Chain,
which precisely collects and analyzes the information of states and proactively predicts the status of
future state in order to solve the volatility and instability of mobile devices. Also, we study two fault
tolerant methods,

The Gap Between Science And Science Fiction
Science fiction is full of machines that have feelings. In 2001: A Space Odyssey, the onboard
computer turns against the crew of the spaceship Discovery 1, and utters cries of pain and fear when
his circuits are finally taken apart. In Blade Runner, a humanoid robot is distressed to learn that her
memories are not real, but have been implanted in her silicon brain by her programmer. In
Bicentennial Man, Robin Williams plays the part of a robot who redesigns his own circuitry so that he
can experience the full range of human feelings. These stories achieve their effect in part because the
capacity for emotion is often considered to be one of the main differences between humans and
machines. This is certainly true of the machines we know today. The responses we receive from
computers are rather dry affairs, such as System error 1378 . People sometimes get angry with their
computers and shout at them as if they had emotions, but the computers take no notice. They neither
feel their own feelings, nor recognize yours. The gap between science fiction and science fact appears
vast, but some researchers in artificial intelligence now believe it is only a question of time before it is
bridged.
The new field of affective computing has already made some progress in building primitive emotional
machines, and every month brings new advances. However, some critics argue that a machine could
never come to have real emotions like ours. At best, they claim, clever programming might allow

Indigenous People Rights
The Australian peoples recognition of indigenous citizens has changed over the last decade. Prior to
the government in charge, Kevin Rudd made a formal public apology to the indigenous people
regarding the stolen generations. As the apology was long overdue, it does not directly confront the
issue within the constitution or legislative shortage of the recognition of indigenous people . As this
essay will demonstrate and concentrate on parts of the constitution in regards to the protection of
indigenous peoples rights. It will demonstrate the constitutional movement and a reformation of the
Australian constitution. This essay will also consider any faults within the races power (s51(xxvi) and

This would not be the same for Aboriginal People. It was thought that the laws of the sate should

The people from the 21st century now agree that in our day and age this is to be considered to be
clearly racist. The first Australian Prime Minister Sir Edmund Barton, one of the original colleagues of
the high court made his views vibrant in 1897 1898 Constitutional Convention that the race power was
essential to police the affairs of the people of coloured or inferior races for them who live within the

African American Stereotypes
For many years African Americans have been judged and stereotype based on their appearance.
African American women have been stereotyped as women that are angry, loud, argumentative,
entitled, and hypersexual. More simply, people tend to associate African American women with
negative stereotypes. Although women experience stereotypes women that have lighter skin tend to
have more privileges. Women with light skin tend to be more attractive, sophisticated, and successful.
Historically, people with light skin were beneath Caucasians but they were above African Americans.
Light skin people tend to have more privileges because they were closer to Caucasians which made
them better than people with darker skin. Today people still believe that skin ... Show more content on

According to Faith G. Williams author and researcher of Afrocentrism, Hip Hop, and the Black Queen

women are often negatively displayed in the media, so they tend to experience stereotypes and

The Fax Machine – A Constantly Evolving Technology...
Despite the availability of advanced modern day technologies for transferring documents worldwide,
the fax machine, a technology developed way back in 1843, continues to persist in homes and offices
even today. Considering the fact that this technology is more than a century old, it should have already
joined the telegraphs and pagers in antique shops by now. Surprisingly however, instead of going
obsolete, fax machines have continued to evolve, adapt and conform to the requirements of modern
telecommunications. The fax machine had already made its mark as an office workhorse back in the
1980s, and has continued to appear on business cards ever since! Although threatened by far more
advanced and preferable technologies like scanners, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Newspapers and weather services were the earliest users of fax machines for transferring photographs
and weather maps across the world. The use of fax machines was however limited because of their
expensive nature and difficulty of operation. However, by 1980, telephone based fax machines had
gained immense popularity because of their reduced prices and fixed Grade 3 standards of operation.
About a million fax machines were sold in 1988 alone, and they became the fastest selling machines
adorning homes and office desktops word wide. Fax machines proved to be of immense utility to the
Japanese. The Japanese alphabet has thousands of characters, and keypads can only afford a limited
number of keys. Fax machines provided the Japanese an easy way to transfer their written documents.
According to the American facsimile association, about 50% of all calls made in the 1980s to the US
from Japan were to fax machines.
Frank Vizard, contributing editor of the Popular Mechanics magazine, writes that increasing
popularity of fax machines blurred the line between the home and the office, as business documents
could easily be faxed to homes within seconds. People dealt with work related documents from the
comforts of their homes. Fax machines soon replaced postal mailboxes and reduced the time of
delivery of documents. This was both a convenience as well as an inconvenience, as people could no
longer find an excuse

Benefits And Benefits Of Retirement Plans
Retirement Plans Companies have the option of selecting the best pension plan for both the employee
and the employer. There are several different types to plans available, but the most common are
defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans. Each plan offers different incentives for both the
employer and the employee, which makes their values different for every situation. Defined Benefit
Plans Large corporations under which the employer promises to pay a retiree a stated pension, often
expressed as a percentage of preretirement pay, which is traditionally used and known as a defined
benefit plans (Cascio, 2013, p. 483). The most common formula for defined benefit plans couples an
employee s years of service and their final average pay, to determine the amount of their retirement.
Employers then pay into the fund each year to cover the expected benefit payment for the employee.
The majority of defined benefit plans calculates earnings over the last 3 to 5 years of service for a
prospective retiree and offers a pension that is about one half this amount, which varies from 30 to 80
percent, adjusted for years of seniority (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2014, p. 466). The following is
a list of characteristics for defined benefit plans. Benefits are guaranteed by the Pension Benefit
Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) with some exceptions Employer assumes the risk of investment gains
and losses Some plans do not take into consideration inflation The exact

The Most Controversial and Debated Issue of Abortion
Abortion One of the most controversy issues that have had many Americans debating over the years is
abortion. But why so much controversy? Well to start with we have to understand what abortion is.
According to the Oxford dictionary, abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most
often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. There are also 2 types of abortions. The first
one is Therapeutic abortion, which the baby is aborted for the safety of the mother, and elective
abortion, in which the abortion is performed due to a choice that the mother has made for an unborn
child. In other words, abortion is the end or the expulsion of a fetus from the uterus by natural causes
or by clinical methods before it is able to survive independently.
Since the past 60 years after the famous Roe v Wade case was passed by the Supreme Court, many
Americans have being against and for abortion. This decision led to the formation of two groups the
anti abortion and the pro choice. Anti abortion are known as pro life people or groups and the pro
choice are those who want to legalize abortion. What really happened in the Roe v Wade case? First
we have to look at the time line of abortion. In the mid 1800s states began to pass laws that made
illegal abortion. As a consequence many women were dying because around those years 1800s, any
surgical procedures were risky and put life in danger (Time Line of Abortion.) Also the Medical
Association argued that abortion was

The focus should be to advertize BAM as a Product that fits small firm needs instead of marketing it
just as a low cost solution . This strategy would reflect better on the Loctite brand and would not
jeopardize existing equipment (sold to large firms) sales. 2) Combine BAM advertisements with the
Super Bonder adhesive advertisement. This would help to promote joint sales as well as help reduce
advertisement costs. The selling point for small firms is low cost equipment that optimizes use of high
quality adhesive and reduces total cost. By eliminating clogging, providing faster application and
reducing assembly errors (Exhibit 8), BAM will be positioned as the product that reduces mess and
helps small firms save on labor and adhesive costs (more under pricing strategy). 3) Include brochures
on Bond A Matic with 1 lb packages of Super Bonder adhesives with 10 packs of 1 oz Super Bonder
bottles. Include product information highlighting benefits such as anti clogging, no mess/waste (and
others in Exhibit 8), a response/ordering card with discount coupons. Sales personnel could follow up
any leads that come from brochure response. 4) Include one year limited warranty (include warranty
registration card) instead of 30 day free trial to reduce return expected costs. This plan would also go
well with the Loctite brand image. 5) Offer bulk purchase discounts and build proper incentives to
sales force to persuade distributors and

institution into a college for the Deaf (Gallaudet, 1912). Kendall supported the idea and promised to

would be the president of the Columbia Institution for the Instruction of Deaf and Dumb and Blind,

institution full collegiate powers in 1864. In 1865, the blind students at the institution were transferred

was faced because some doubted if deaf persons had the ability to learn collegiate studies (Gallaudet,
1912). Nevertheless, the law was passed in both houses of Congress and was signed by President
Lincoln on April 8, 1864 (Armstrong, 2014). Gallaudet exclaims that when Kendall received the news,

Risk In Projects The Total Tool Set
Eyes Wide Shut (without Nicole and Tom to help)
Many project mangers, when first introduced to risk management, feel that there is something macho
about undertaking high risk projects without a net and that formal risk management is a sign of
weakness. Secretly, I guess that we all identify somewhat with Indiana Jones as he plunges from

If you lived in an apartment next to the building in which you work, the risk involved in getting to
work on time is many times lower than that facing a person with a 20 mile commute involving driving
to the station, getting kids to school, taking a pre work study course and public transport. The second
process in risk management is the process of Risk Reduction, Minimization or Containment. This
process involves planning and action to reduce the risks and, if that is not possible, to introduce
strategies to minimize the impact of failure. To manage the risks in our commute, we could reduce risk
by moving closer to work, obtaining flexible working hours or undertaking community and political
action to improve public transport. Contingency planning such as having alternative routes or
transport would be part of this process. The third and fourth processes of Risk Management are the
Risk Monitoring and Risk Reporting of the status of risks [particularly High risk factors], the
identification of new risk factors that have emerged during the project and reports on the effectiveness
of containment strategies. In our commute example, risk monitoring would involve watching the clock
and for traffic snarls. Risk reporting could be calling work to say you ll be late and to inform your
work colleagues of potential delays for other colleagues. Risk management also involves the
evaluation and management of the impact of failure of the

Republican Party Research Paper
As many American Liberals have noticed the Democratic Party, supposedly their party, has been
losing big electorally. The presidency, the majority of state governorships, both houses of congress
and the majority of state assemblies have been lost by the Democrats to the Republican Party. This has
left many Democratic citizens wondering, what happened? Why did their party suddenly fall from
favor with the voting public? Though I do not hold myself out as having a definitive answer I do have
a hunch as to why the Democrats have been losing big at the polls. And fair warning, though I will try
to keep this as neutral as possible political biases do have a pesky way of sneaking into these things.

by Donald Trump is appealing to confirmation bias, which my inner philosophy minor reminds me is a
logical fallacy. Nevertheless it works and Trump won far more support than anyone predicted he

Raoul Of Cambrai And Christianity Essay
Raoul of Cambrai and Christianity Raoul of Cambrai, an old French epic, has strong ties to
Christianity despite only having several actual figures from the Church present in the story. Characters
consistently use phrases such as By God , I pray , for my faith , and numerous references to saints and
their relics in the epic linking their beliefs to Christianity. Lady Alice, Raoul s mother, Bernier, Raoul
s vassal, and Count Ybert, family member to Bernier, see Christianity as a valuable resource when
making arguments or trying to persuade someone. However, Christianity is not seen as a positive to
everyone, especially Raoul. As Raoul s feud with King Louis and his quest to take over a fief goes on,
his interactions with Christian figures and symbols illustrate his eventual downfall. So, exactly how is
Christianity depicted in Raoul of Cambrai and what is the purpose of characters faith? Christianity is
depicted as a downfall for Raoul, and the purpose of characters faith is to foreshadow. In the epic,
characters whose faith is substantial and positive often are able to foreshadow what happens. For
Raoul, whose faith is fragile, Christianity becomes his downfall to his inevitable death at the hands of
Bernier. Christianity is first depicted in Raoul of Cambrai when Raoul is baptized. This scene, when
the Bishop receives Raoul and baptizes him is one of the rare moments a member of the clergy is
present. Raoul s baptism was rather distinct in that Lady Alice, Raoul s

Factors Behind The Variations Of Language Use Among Adults

Research question: What are the factors behind the variations of language use among adults in
Lebanon?
Annotated Bibliography
Bhatia, T. Ritchie W. (June 9, 2008). The Handbook of Bilingualism. John Wiley Sons.
This book offers a full guide to understanding the bilingualism phenomenon. It analyses it from a
cognitive perspective, as well as its different types such as code switching and code mixing. This book
will help me analyze my data on the level of the different types and motivations of bilingualism.
Clyne, M. Kipp, S. (1999). Pluricentric Languages in an Immigrant Context: Spanish, Arabic and
Chinese. Walter de Gruyter.
This book presents a table of comparison of Language use in the home among children and adults,
Egypt and Lebanon groups, followed by an analysis of the table. This table is very useful because it
shows that, when compared to children in Lebanon, the Lebanese adults have a very big preference for
Arabic. This is an indispensable work for any sociolinguistic paper.

This book illustrates the author s perception of her first encounters with Lebanon; Lebanese people
and Lebanese culture at the age of 12, and it is useful because it provides an insight of an outsider who

Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Battle Of Marathon
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born on March 6, 1806 in England. She was the first of twelve
children. Her family were wealthy sugar plantation owners on the British held island of Jamaica
Elizabeth was encouraged by her mother to learn several different languages and by the time she was
six she knew French, Latin and Greek. In 1816, at age 10, Elizabeth was so proficient in French, she
composed a classical French tragedy, Regulus. By the time she was twelve she was writing short
novels and plays. Her poem The Battle of Marathon, was privately printed for her fourteenth birthday.
Elizabeth s work was rooted in religious and government themes. She also wrote about freedom and
love, for even at a young age felt empathy for the slaves her family held. Elizabeth and her three
sisters became ill in 1821, with headaches and convulsions. Her two sisters recovered quickly,
however Elizabeth then came down with a case of the measles. She was sent away to recover,
however after 10 months she was still not well. She complained of swollen spine. Doctors disagreed
on her diagnosis and treatment, but she did spend and extended amount of time in a spine crib ; which
was believed to have made her weaker. One treatment the doctors did agree on was the use of Opium.
This combined with laudanum was a common practice for many illnesses during the 19th century.
Addiction to opiates was not understood or even fully known by some doctors. While Elizabeth did

The Struggle For Gender Equality
Is it accurate to state that the struggle for gender equality in Europe was successful during the
twentieth century? Previous to the twentieth century, women were unable to vote in Europe, which
contributed towards a disparity between genders. Early twentieth century saw the majority of working
class women s lives across Europe revolving around household and family duties, with the education
world being closed to them and the opportunity of having a job restricted. This immediately shows an
inequality and divide between women and men, showing evidence that woman was living in a man s
world . However things began to evolve during the twentieth century as it witnessed many European
countries in giving women the political right to vote. Primarily, Finland gave women the vote in 1906,
Britain followed although not until 1928, and Italy finally accepted women should vote in 1945.
Although the passing of these laws demonstrate emancipation towards women, is it accurate to state
that the struggle for gender equality in Europe was successful during the twentieth century?
Essentially the struggle for gender equality was not completely triumphant during the twentieth
century, as although women were successful in gaining the vote, this was only one aspect towards
achieving gender equality. Firstly in Britain in 1894, the Local Government Act allowed women who
own property to vote locally, however it was only a small amount of women who this concerned,
therefore had little

Utilitarianism In Criminal Justice
Considering the three variations of consequentialist ethics, ethical egoism, contractualism, and
utilitarianism: How does these three areas of ethics effect achieving positive means and ends in the
criminal justice system?
This week s discussion seems to be very interesting and can be looked at many different ways, as we
explore the ethical framework we start with consequentialist ethics. This deals with three (3) things,
ethical egoism, contractualism, and utilitarianism. This type of ethics asks the following questions:
What will happen if I do a certain act? Who will be affected and how would this affect them? How
would other alternatives or decisions affect or producer different outcomes (Arrigo Williams, 2008, p.
145)?

A good example of this would be something to the effect if you support a certain political candidate

Utilitarianism, this type is very simple and is purely based on happiness, it tends to maximizes all the
good in something and minimize all the bad in the act. We all have the desire to be happy and
considered this to be the ultimate goal and happiness factor (Arrigo Williams, 2008, p. 146). Money,

maximize this portion of their life whether its by working extra side jobs or many hours of overtime to

Essay On Mercato Italia
The Mercato Italia located in the outskirts of Rome in the Nomentano district seems to capture the
current feeling of Italy and its adaption toward the changing world, starting with what they have begun
to sell in their markets. The Mercato Italia is your average market with the typical items ranging from
fruits and vegetables to swordfish heads, but adding to the uniqueness is the additional items one can
buy when grocery shopping. Once seeing the outside of Mercato Italia I no longer felt as if I was
heading to your average market, rather to a mall with its distinct features that you would not normally
see in your neighborhood market. The amazing fact was though, that once inside it was just that; the
friendly, comforting, and typical market with the same faces you would see back home. I couldn t
believe that somehow this market was able to make itself unique but still have the essentials of what
makes a market, but little by little I began to see why this market looked like a mall. Like every

expansion for even more suggestions that can be established in future markets. The stands that I

Mythological and Archetypal Reading of Fuentes Aura and Ligotti s The Last Feast of Harlequin
Mythological and archetypal techniques coupled with the interpretation of symbolism found within a
piece of literature tells the reader something about the mind and character of a people or culture. Not
only does it allow you to delve deeper into this collective mind and speculate about the meaning of a
particular work, it can give you something more. I believe that by using these techniques you also get
a better glimpse into the main character s state of mind. It also gives you clues as to is going on behind
the scenes that will affect the character s mental state.

These associations made it easier for him to become committed to Aura and Consuelo.
Now that we have seen some of the symbols that could have affected Felipe s mind, now we will
explore some of the symbols that indicate something was going on behind the scenes. The fist symbol
I would mention is darkness. As I stated earlier, it is primarily a symbol of removal from God and the
light, the prescence of evil. The ever present darkness represents some undercurrent of evil that runs
throughout the story.
Cats are also an important symbol. The first sign we get of any cats is the sound of their painful
yowling . Later Felipe sees some of them being burned alive. Some of the things cats can represent are
independence and self sufficiency. Their destruction leads one to believe that Felipe s independence is
being replaced by dependence and his self sufficiency is being replaced by reliance on Aura.

the unsuspecting to ruin. 2 The prescence of rats not only hint at inappropriate activities inside of the
house, but also at the prescence of witches, something I am quite sure Consuelo is.

Iris willingly learns American Sign Language to communicate with her son but Glenn resists. This
causes further estrangement within the family. Through three decades, Mr. Holland is closer to
students at John F. Kennedy High School than he is to his own son. He addresses a series of
challenges created by people who are either skeptical of or hostile towards the idea of musical
excellence within the walls of a typical middle class American high school. He inspires many students
and but never has private time for himself or his family, forever delaying the composition of his own
orchestral composition. Ultimately, he reaches an age when it is too late to realistically find financial
backing or ever have it performed. In 1995, the adversaries of the Kennedy High music program win a
decisive institutional victory. Holland s longtime adversary Wolters, promoted to school principal
when Jacobs retires, works with the school board to eliminate music in the name of necessary budget
cuts, thereby leading to Mr. Holland s ignominious dismissal at the age of 60. Glenn is a realist who
realizes that his working life is over. He believes that his former students have mostly forgotten him.
On his final day as a teacher, the despairing Mr. Holland is led to the school auditorium, where his
professional life is surprisingly redeemed. Hearing that their beloved

Essay Billie Holiday
Many jazz artists as we know it are quite talented. Their talents are unique in that they can translate
human emotion through singing or playing their instruments. Many have the ability to reach and touch
people s souls through their amazing gifts. Although this art of turning notes and lyrics into emotional
imagery may somewhat come natural, the audience must wonder where their influence comes from.
For Billie Holiday, her career was highly influenced by personal experience, the effects of the Great
Depression, and the racial challenges of African Americans during her time.

Factors That Affect The Child
A child is somebody under the age of 18 who is dependent on their parents. According to the NSPCC,
the UN Convention on the rights states that a child is anybody under the age of 18. All around the
world the age of a child depends on the culture in which the child is born into. In some societies, they
believe that children are socially constructed which relates to the historical, cultural and social factors.
It depends on where the child is born for their construction and what it means to the child, this then
relates to the birth lottery. The birth lottery can cause problems for the child which could affect their
life chances. There are three factors that could affect the child; economical factors (this concerns a lot
of the time money and social status), cultural factors (religion and ethnicity) and social factors (social
class). All three of theses factors can impact the child massively, again it depends on the birth lottery;
where the child is born; what the race of the child is; whether the child is born into poverty or wealth
and also the gender of the child. A lot of things goes off children s parents so, for example, social
mobility, where it goes off the parent s income and social status, the child just follows their parents.
Low income can affect the child s health, living and education. If children living in poverty it could
mean they are dealing with harsh experiences. In the UK alone there is 3.9 million children living in
poverty (Child Poverty

The Effect Of Progesterone On The Oral Mucosa Of The...
Bleeding gums are common in pregnancy related to estrogen s effect on the oral mucosa of the
pregnant woman. Estrogen increases the blood flow to the mouth and gums causing mild swelling;
brushing causes friction and the breaking of superficial capillaries, hence the bleeding. Progesterone
too plays a role in this process, in that progesterone changes the dynamic of the saliva promoting
bacteria growth in the mouth, increasing the woman s potential of developing gingivitis (Demma
Grace, 2015; Jordan, 2014).
Relief measures for bleeding gums in pregnancy are that of reassurance that this is a common
condition in pregnancy and that it is normal. Encourage the woman to continue to brush and floss
regularly, and ensure she is using a soft bristle brush. Also confirm that she is continuing with the
recommended cleaning schedule of her dentist as periodontal disease can increase the risk of preterm
delivery (Demma Grace, 2015; Jordan, 2014).
Hyperpigmentation of the Skin
Hyperpigmentation of the skin is one of the most common physiologic changes in pregnancy.
Pigmentation changes are related to the impact of both estrogen and progesterone on the melanocyte
cells within the skin. Areas greatest affected are those of the areola, genitals, thighs, and underarms;
however a linea nigra, a vertical line along the gravid abdomen is experienced by some women.
Women may experience darkening of freckles, scars, or melasma, also known as mask of pregnancy .

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR, sometimes also called Appropriate Dispute Resolution ) is a
general term, used to define a set of approaches and techniques aimed at resolving disputes in a non
confrontational way. It covers a broad spectrum of approaches, from party to party engagement in
negotiations as the most direct way to reach a mutually accepted resolution, to arbitration and
adjudication at the other end, where an external party imposes a solution. Somewhere along the axis of
ADR approaches between these two extremes lies mediation, a process by which a third party aids the
disputants to reach a mutually agreed solution. This article introduces the key concepts, principles and

3 Day Clorie Intake Essay
Even before beginning this nutritional anthropology course, I have been interested in documenting my
daily calorie intake so documenting my process was not out of the norm for me regarding this

consumption over a 3 day period, why I ate what I did and compare it to what we have learned
throughout the duration of the course.
From the beginning, I have always been told the number of calories for women should be around 1500
calories. However, we learned that the recommended calorie intake for women is actually 2000
calories per day which makes my daily intake already quite a bit lower than what it should be:

Cleaner: Not only are these systems easier to clean in the prime points of client contact than manual
systems, they are easier to clean and maintain than manual systems. Fogginess or dullness on the
mirror can affect the readings taken by the doctor or technician using a manual system, but a digital
system removes that challenge.
More efficient: Manual phoropters require the ophthalmic professional to enter data during the pretest

equipment that will be used is pre set to the exact specifications needed by client, as well as uploading
the data to the patient s digital records.
More streamlined: A manual refraction system requires doctors and technicians to complete a wide

Social Media Has Changed The Expectations Of Social...
Today, the average person spends at least two hours a day on social media sites. Through social media,
texting, and online chatrooms, people can communicate with others that they would otherwise have no
contact with. For this topic, it is important to define what friendship really means. Some have argued
that a friend is someone they talk with; others say it s someone they ve shared an experience with. For
this essay, friendship will be defined as someone who is kept in constant contact with through and
outside of the internet. The majority of effects seen from technology are negative: from decreased in
person social interactions, to loss of identity, and ultimately the watering down of friendships. Social
media has changed the expectations of social relationships. While technology does allow users to stay
connected with family and friends from varying distances, technology s negative effects also make it
harder to maintain those relationships and have a lasting impact on how people will pursue their future
relationships.
With the rise of social media and other forms of online communication, people have the opportunity to
connect with old and new friends alike. However, this connection through technology has changed
how people view friendship. In his article Faux Friendships, William Deresiewicz discusses how much
the ideas of friendship have changed over time. He argues that ...friendship, for the ancients, was rare,
precious, and hard won, but now, We can be friends

The Shark Ethos
Imagine a world without your favorite foods you have ever consumed. Imagine a world where you
cannot even enjoy your favorite beach on vacation because of unmanageable algae taking over our
coasts. Imagine a world with a huge spike in greenhouse gases, and a dramatic decline of natural
oxygen production. This is a world without the most feared and misunderstood creature that rules our
oceans, the Shark. In an advertisement published by WWF, it conveys the message of what we should
actually be fearing, the fall of our marine ecosystems and what that will do to humanity. The
advertisement uses all three appeals of ethos, pathos, and logos to push their targeted audience to
further their education on our world and to spread the word to everyone ... Show more content on

Viewers do not have to read a paragraph of information to get to the point, so having only three, small
words printed onto the display gives more room for the picture itself to tell the story. The usage of the
word horrifying , perfectly corresponds with the overall tone of the advertisement and is what truly
captures the viewers attention. Visually, the ad is incredibly ominous, giving an unsettling sense of
mystery and threat, so comparing it with the term horrifying , completes the connotation given. WWF
associates the picture without the sharks fin with the words More Horrifying , which is a very
dramatic statement, in order to play on the more pragmatic fear on what shark s decline in our world s
oceans will substantially

The Bank Of England s Monetary Policy
This essay will examine how the Bank of England s Monetary Policy committee uses monetary policy
to control the main macro objectives such as inflation and balance of payments. It will discuss how
interest rates are determined through an equilibrium between money supply and demand. Monetary
policy is a macroeconomic policy laid down by the MPC to affect aggregate demand using interest
rates . The committee meets to set a bank rate with an aim to fix problems in the economy. The Bank
of England s main objective is to keep inflation at a target rate of 2% using interest rates. This decision
effects mortgage and bank deposit rates so is important to control . Over the past decade inflation has
been fluctuating largely with an upward trend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bank of England uses several techniques to control interest rates. They do this in order to keep the
money market in equilibrium. Equilibrium interest rate is set where the money supply and demand for
money is the same, shown in the diagram below.
If the rate of interest began to rise above the equilibrium level there would be an excess supply of
money. This excess supply could be used to invest and buy bonds as people have more money
balances than they need. This will in turn push up bond prices and interest rates will begin to fall due
to the inverse relationship. Low interest rates encourage people to spend more. The opportunity cost of
spending is saving, if interest rates are lower, people will receive less interest on their savings so there
will now be a lower opportunity cost of spending. This spending will increase demand to the point
where it is back at equilibrium.
If the rate of interest then fell below the equilibrium level there would be excess demand of money.
This would mean that people do not have enough money for what they need. This will mean that
banks will sell bonds back to the government in return for cash lowering the bond price. Interest rates
will begin to rise and demand for money will decrease until equilibrium is reached .
If the open bank buys bonds, the cash the recipients receive is then deposited in banks allowing the
banks to credit create. This is then multiplied in

Essay on Herto Homo Sapiens and the Origin of Man
Herto Homo Sapiens and the Questionable Origin of Man
Many discoveries have been made that give more and more clues to the history of life on earth.
Paleontologists find artifacts throughout the world that not only answer many questions but also raise
many new ones. A topic that is still a mystery today is the origin of man. Scientists often debate over
where man originated from and who some of his prehistoric relatives were. Some people think that all
men are related, and that there has been inter breeding between different groups of men. (I.e. the
Neanderthals from Eurasia at some point bred with the homo sapiens of Africa.) Others believe that
certain groups of men evolved in a completely different time period in a completely ... Show more

sapiens evolved over the past 2 million years with at least some interbreeding of African, Asian, and
European populations. iii[3] The following explains the magnitude of research that went into the Herto
fossils and why scientists claim that the aforementioned is indeed false and that these fossils are
indeed immediate ancestors of anatomically modern humans. Two of the skulls found were that of two
adults and a child estimated to be around 6 to seven years old. One of the adults still had intact its
facial bones. Over the next three years after the fossils were discovered the sediment was cleaned off
of them and they were reconstructed. The child s cranium alone had more than 200 pieces.iv[4] Along
with the skulls, many other artifacts were found at the Herto sight. Pieces of skull and teeth were
found that belonged to seven other Homo sapiens individuals. Hippopotamus bones were also found in
the area. They had incisions that seemed to be made from stone tools while the Homo sapiens were
either killing the animals or scavenging the animals for meat.v[5] The fossils and the site from which
the fossils were discovered were extensively researched. Measurements were taken from various parts
of each skull and compared to Neanderthals found in Eurasia. From their findings scientists who
researched the skulls believe that there is no direct correlation between the Homo sapiens from Africa

Everything That Rises Must Converge By Flannery O Connor
The coolest monkey in the jungle Sounds like a harmless phrase you d see or hear with anything
aimed towards young children, right? What may just seem like a playful expression, can be seen in a
completely different way with just one change. Skin tone. This simple adjustment can cause your
situation to go awry in a matter of seconds if you aim it at the wrong person. When used towards an
african american person, it quickly turns into a highly offensive racial slur. H M is a very popular
retail clothing company, they realized the mistake they had made a little too late and it hurt them in a
big way. The ad went viral, and not in a good way, it resulted in one of their best associates The

O Connor even shows the severity of the possible outcomes resulting from people who choose to be
racist and treat others differently by having the mother be killed when she gave the small black boy a
penny. At that point in time everything she had done had caught up to her, the way Julian put it spoke
the best, That was the whole colored race which will no longer take your condescending pennies .
Julian disliked his mothers views and you can Throughout the story Julian s mother repeatedly
claimed I know who I am , and that this is why she knew her place in this world. Yet, she did not
really understand who she was at all. It was obvious from the beginning that her bringing up had
caused her to see racial segregation as necessary, and that the whites truly were a higher class. She
was a very closed minded person that saw herself as a gracious being when she was nice to the African
american community. It should feel good to be nice to people, but it will never make you a superior
being to do something that is expected of you. Being sensitive and having understanding of how your
actions may make people feel shows your compassion for others, and Julian s mother severely lacked

Imagine constantly hearing about brand new inventions and ideas that were deemed impossible only a few years ago. Visualize working long hours in cramped factories, in exchange for low pay and contagious diseases. For some people that lived during the age of industrialization, this was their reality of life. During the 18th and 19th century, the world was exponentially industrializing. After the first industrial revolution in Great Britain, other countries were influenced, such as the United States, and rapid industrialization occurred. Advanced innovations and ideas developed, along with the creation of a factory system, leading to the creation of a modern, industrialized world. The cultural diffusion of ideas and inventions from the British Industrial Revolution to America, aided in the jumpstart of the First Industrial Revolution. To understand the causes and lasting effects of the First Industrial Revolution in America, one must recall the definition of a industrial revolution . YourDictionary.com defines it as ...changes in manufacturing and transportation that began with fewer things being made by hand but instead made using machines in larger scale factories ( industrial ). • 4. Mobile Cloud Technology And Technology Abstract the great emergence of mobile cloud computing has gained lots of interest in these recent years. Mobile cloud computing consists of mobile devices and cloud computing offering mobile cloud environment by using a huge number of different mobile devices. Any device uses mobility such as laptops, tablets, and smart phones is considered as a mobile device. Due to the great improvement of wireless networks like 4G and the expansion of use of mobile device, many researchers are interested to provide different methods to use mobile resources for distributed processes to compute many applications in mobile cloud environment. Although the last mobile devices have improved processing power, there are some limitations in power capacity, unpredictable network conditions, and connections availability that must be considered in order to use mobile devices as resource. These dynamic changes may disconnect a mobile device from the cloud computing and then prevent applications from completion. In other words, these problems may cause a system to fault more frequently due to these changes. Therefore, in order to increase the stability of these devices, there should be a monitoring technique to tolerate system faults. In this paper, we focus on Markov Chain, which precisely collects and analyzes the information of states and proactively predicts the status of future state in order to solve the volatility and instability of mobile devices. Also, we study two fault tolerant methods, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Gap Between Science And Science Fiction Science fiction is full of machines that have feelings. In 2001: A Space Odyssey, the onboard computer turns against the crew of the spaceship Discovery 1, and utters cries of pain and fear when his circuits are finally taken apart. In Blade Runner, a humanoid robot is distressed to learn that her memories are not real, but have been implanted in her silicon brain by her programmer. In Bicentennial Man, Robin Williams plays the part of a robot who redesigns his own circuitry so that he can experience the full range of human feelings. These stories achieve their effect in part because the capacity for emotion is often considered to be one of the main differences between humans and machines. This is certainly true of the machines we know today. The responses we receive from computers are rather dry affairs, such as System error 1378 . People sometimes get angry with their computers and shout at them as if they had emotions, but the computers take no notice. They neither feel their own feelings, nor recognize yours. The gap between science fiction and science fact appears vast, but some researchers in artificial intelligence now believe it is only a question of time before it is bridged. The new field of affective computing has already made some progress in building primitive emotional machines, and every month brings new advances. However, some critics argue that a machine could never come to have real emotions like ours. At best, they claim, clever programming might allow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. The Struggle For Gender Equality Is it accurate to state that the struggle for gender equality in Europe was successful during the twentieth century? Previous to the twentieth century, women were unable to vote in Europe, which contributed towards a disparity between genders. Early twentieth century saw the majority of working class women s lives across Europe revolving around household and family duties, with the education world being closed to them and the opportunity of having a job restricted. This immediately shows an inequality and divide between women and men, showing evidence that woman was living in a man s world . However things began to evolve during the twentieth century as it witnessed many European countries in giving women the political right to vote. Primarily, Finland gave women the vote in 1906, Britain followed although not until 1928, and Italy finally accepted women should vote in 1945. Although the passing of these laws demonstrate emancipation towards women, is it accurate to state that the struggle for gender equality in Europe was successful during the twentieth century? Essentially the struggle for gender equality was not completely triumphant during the twentieth century, as although women were successful in gaining the vote, this was only one aspect towards achieving gender equality. Firstly in Britain in 1894, the Local Government Act allowed women who own property to vote locally, however it was only a small amount of women who this concerned, therefore had little ... According to the NSPCC, the UN Convention on the rights states that a child is anybody under the age of 18. All around the world the age of a child depends on the culture in which the child is born into. In some societies, they believe that children are socially constructed which relates to the historical, cultural and social factors. It depends on where the child is born for their construction and what it means to the child, this then relates to the birth lottery. The birth lottery can cause problems for the child which could affect their life chances. There are three factors that could affect the child; economical factors (this concerns a lot of the time money and social status), cultural factors (religion and ethnicity) and social factors (social class). All three of theses factors can impact the child massively, again it depends on the birth lottery; where the child is born; what the race of the child is; whether the child is born into poverty or wealth and also the gender of the child. A lot of things goes off children s parents so, for example, social mobility, where it goes off the parent s income and social status, the child just follows their parents. Estrogen increases the blood flow to the mouth and gums causing mild swelling; brushing causes friction and the breaking of superficial capillaries, hence the bleeding. Progesterone too plays a role in this process, in that progesterone changes the dynamic of the saliva promoting bacteria growth in the mouth, increasing the woman s potential of developing gingivitis (Demma Grace, 2015; Jordan, 2014). Relief measures for bleeding gums in pregnancy are that of reassurance that this is a common condition in pregnancy and that it is normal. Also confirm that she is continuing with the recommended cleaning schedule of her dentist as periodontal disease can increase the risk of preterm delivery (Demma Grace, 2015; Jordan, 2014). Over the past decade inflation has been fluctuating largely with an upward trend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bank of England uses several techniques to control interest rates. They do this in order to keep the money market in equilibrium. Equilibrium interest rate is set where the money supply and demand for money is the same, shown in the diagram below. If the rate of interest began to rise above the equilibrium level there would be an excess supply of money. This excess supply could be used to invest and buy bonds as people have more money balances than they need. This will in turn push up bond prices and interest rates will begin to fall due to the inverse relationship. Low interest rates encourage people to spend more. The opportunity cost of spending is saving, if interest rates are lower, people will receive less interest on their savings so there will now be a lower opportunity cost of spending. This spending will increase demand to the point where it is back at equilibrium. If the rate of interest then fell below the equilibrium level there would be excess demand of money. This would mean that people do not have enough money for what they need. This will mean that banks will sell bonds back to the government in return for cash lowering the bond price. Interest rates will begin to rise and demand for money will decrease until equilibrium is reached . If the open bank buys bonds, the cash the recipients receive is then deposited in banks allowing the banks to credit create. This is then multiplied in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Herto Homo Sapiens and the Origin of Man Herto Homo Sapiens and the Questionable Origin of Man Many discoveries have been made that give more and more clues to the history of life on earth. Paleontologists find artifacts throughout the world that not only answer many questions but also raise many new ones. A topic that is still a mystery today is the origin of man. Scientists often debate over where man originated from and who some of his prehistoric relatives were. Some people think that all men are related, and that there has been inter breeding between different groups of men. (I.e. the Neanderthals from Eurasia at some point bred with the homo sapiens of Africa.) Others believe that certain groups of men evolved in a completely different time period in a completely ... Two of the skulls found were that of two adults and a child estimated to be around 6 to seven years old. One of the adults still had intact its facial bones. Over the next three years after the fossils were discovered the sediment was cleaned off of them and they were reconstructed. The child s cranium alone had more than 200 pieces.iv[4] Along with the skulls, many other artifacts were found at the Herto sight. Pieces of skull and teeth were found that belonged to seven other Homo sapiens individuals. Hippopotamus bones were also found in the area. They had incisions that seemed to be made from stone tools while the Homo sapiens were either killing the animals or scavenging the animals for meat.v[5] The fossils and the site from which the fossils were discovered were extensively researched. Measurements were taken from various parts of each skull and compared to Neanderthals found in Eurasia. From their findings scientists who researched the skulls believe that there is no direct correlation between the Homo sapiens from Africa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
