2015). In 2014, harvested acreage was 6.9 million acres, the lowest it has been for the past 15 years.
Farmers are now being forced to use significantly less land then before, but also ditch old irrigation
techniques and implement new techniques to better conserve water; maximizing production as much
as possible in order to combat the drought.

In this passage Enzo witnesses a horrific sight, but if told by through a different point of view, the
scene would seem very different. In reality Enzo was seeing illusions but what was really happening
was Enzo tearing up a little girl s stuffed animal. Because this scene was told through the point of
view of Enzo the scene really enticed the reader and pulled in their attention. Stein used word choice
such as molester zebra and gelded groin to simulate a nightmarish scene. Stein also writes his
sentences in a way that makes the audience read in a rapid yet fearful way by using syntax. Examples
of this are the excessive use of commas and short/easy pronounceable words. The now living zebra

Literature Review
My action research project was influenced by the national push towards inclusion of children with
special needs into the general education classroom. Because our school was trying to adopt a co
teaching program, this was the area I did most of my research on. I found a multitude of studies that
supported co teaching and analyzed the effects of co teaching on students, teachers and parents. I then
researched the affects of a non inclusive environment on all students. After witnessing how my
students self esteem had plummeted due to their specific grouping, I was not surprised to find research
that supported the theory that students who are identified as having special needs will have lower self
esteem and self worth. In a study done on students with special needs, all of them reported thinking
they would be unable to attend mainstream classes because they did not feel they were successful
learners based on their placement in special education (Griffiths, 2007). This study also revealed the
children with special needs held fears that all adults would think of them as troublemakers because the
classes they were in held a high majority of children with behavior problems (Griffiths, 2007). This
study concentrates on students who attend schools for special needs. These students may feel more
isolated than those who receive special services inside a mainstream school, but those who are
evaluated or receive special education within a mainstream school show the

Holcomb itself, is forever gone, replaced by malicious, shimmering cotton.

airline s pilots and flight attendants far from where they needed to be to operate the planes, and
JetBlue lacked the trained staff that was needed to find them and tell them where to go. Another
problem was the reservation system; the system was so overwhelmed that customers were unable to
get through to human agents to check on a flight.
4 Did the airline handle the crisis well? Why or why not? What else could JetBlue have done to
improve the situation?
I believe the situation was handled well, because after the February 14th delays, JetBlue executives
developed a passenger Bill of Rights to help deal with the situation if it happens to arise again. The
Bill of Rights provides real compensation for delays and cancellations, and it is believed to be
stronger, deeper, and much more defined than any other customer commitments you could find in the
airline industry.
Although there was no way JetBlue could have prevented the cancelled flights due to bad weather,
they should have had risk management plan in effect addressing ice storms before this incident
occurred. Another solution to the problem would be to park incoming flights near the gate and send a
bus out to pick up the passengers. This way they wouldn t have to wait in the plane until a gate is
available or call other airlines and see if they can use there

Figure 2 shows the radially averaged horizontal temperature structure in TCs inferred from AMSU A
data at first LMI with a horizontal resolution of ~70 km and a vertical resolution of ~1 3 km.
Anomalies are with respect to the temperature observed at 600 km away from storm center at each
height. The UT warming bulges upward near storm center where the convective activity is strongest.

The horizontal resolution is 4 km. While the evolution of the intensity of TCs is rather symmetric
about the time of first LMI (personal communications with John Knaff), the convective structure is
not: the coldest cloud tops occur prior to first LMI. Brightness temperatures between 4 and 2 days are
associated with the presence of deep convective outbursts within a few hundred kilometers of storm
center. Between 2 and 0 days, brightness temperatures are consistent with the formation of a sustained
ring of deep convective clouds between the outer edge of the eye and 100 km away from storm center
(e.g., Heymsfield et al. [2001], Emanuel [2003]). After 0 days, both the intensity of TC systems and
the heights reached by deep convection decrease rather rapidly, which translates to warmer brightness
temperatures. Compared to Figure 2, the coldest cloud tops occur about 100 km inward of the coldest
temperature anomalies at first LMI. Warmer brightness temperatures within 30 km of storm center at 0
days correspond to the clear moat observed inside the eyewall [Willoughby, 1998].

Langston Hughes, An African American Writer
Langston Hughes, an African American writer who interpreted to the world the black experience in the
US and portrayed them with skill and insight, was born February 1st, 1902 into the home of the couple
James and Carrie Hughes. Hughes mother attended college and had an artistic temperament. James
Nathanial Hughes was a prosperous lawyer and rancher in Mexico who disliked the black poor and
hated Negroes. On April 30, 1899, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, him and his wife Carrie were married and
were pregnant within a few days after the wedding. When the U.S. census taker came around on June
5, 1900 the tragedy struck couple reported the loss of their first child, a boy; apparently he was buried
earlier that year. Langston came along next and soon after his parents separated. When Langston was
between the age of 5 and 7 his parents tried to reconcile with each other in Mexico. The reunion ended
on the night of April 14, 1907 after an earthquake shook the ground over a vast region in Mexico.
After the incident Carrie, her mother and her son fled Mexico. Hughes was raised by his mother, who
later married Homer Clark, and his grandmother, who had served as a conductor on the Underground
Railroad with her husband earlier in her life. Langston lived in about half a dozen cities before him
and his new family settled in Cleveland. Langston Hughes found his first job; he gathered maple seeds
and most likely sold them to the Bartheldes Seed Company. Moving forward with his life Langston

Why We Should Study Chimpanzees
Animals such as chimpanzees have rights. Even though they may not be humans, they are living
creatures. Jane Goodall watches the videotape of chimpanzees which inspires her to visit them. She
decides to go visit them and later finds out how depressed the chimpanzees were. They were living in
small cages with nothing to do. No toys, no being around any other chimpanzees, nothing. Jane then
visits another lab where only baby chimps were playing around with toys and other chimpanzees, but
the older chimps were trapped inside cages. People who work with lab animals should understand the
animal s behaviors. Whether it s good or bad, knowing this should be mandatory when people work
