FDA Drug Approval Process

FDA Drug Approval Process Americans must wait up to 19 years after a discovered treatment before
they can participate in benefits of a new medication (Philipson Sun, 2008). The regulatory process
drug manufacturers need to endure before releasing potentially life saving medication is an extremely
expensive, time consuming process. The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) is the
main department of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) responsible for the safety of drugs (both
prescription and over the counter) sold in the United States (Food and Drug Administration, 2011).
This department scrutinizes the testing of new drugs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Product liability laws allow drug users to sue the manufacture, not the FDA, for any adverse drug
reactions and side effects. While the FDA oversees drug safety, they do not ensure it. To avoid the
costs associated with lawsuits and the risk of a bad name, drug companies do their best to fully,
sometimes overly test products before release. When product liability law attempts to ensure safety
already assured by the FDA, prices may be inefficiently high due to liability costs that do not deter
manufacturers from producing unsafe products (Philipson Sun, 2008, p. 86).
Drug Approval Process The time frame and cost to release a drug for sale into the United States
market is enormous. After nearly 20 years and about one billion dollars spent, a drug manufacture can
begin to market its product to consumers (Philipson Sun, 2008). The reason behind these huge
numbers is the drug approval process mandated by the Food and Drug Administration. Understanding
the testing process will explain the long time frame and huge costs associated with drug approval.
Stages of the Testing Process There are several phases and applications to complete for drug
development in the United States. The three basic stages in the testing process are preclinical, clinical,
and approval. The first step of preclinical usually lasts anywhere from one to six years. During the
preclinical phase, toxicology studies on the ingredients are collected and drug testing

Essay On Whole Genome Sequencing
2.0 Materials and Methods
Whole genome sequencing (WGS) is one of the current methods used to obtain the entire genetic
composition of a particular patient. Once the sequence of DNA has been obtained the information
within the patient s genome is compared to a reference genome so that potentially pathogenic
mutations can be identified. Regions of DNA that are of interest are validated following the procedure
outlined below.
Primer design
Specific DNA loci were obtained from analysts in the form of Excel spreadsheets. These coordinates
were visualized using the genome browser build 19 on the UCSC website. The DNA sequence that
was taken was approximately 900 bp on either end of the region which was to be amplified. The DNA
sequence which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This extension period was set for 7 minutes. 35 cycles were run when amplifying particular regions of
DNA obtained from probands and their respective families. Note primers were tested with controls
using the hotstart PCR conditions before primers were run with the patient s DNA.
Visualizing PCR product
Agarose gels were run to determine whether amplification of the targeted region of DNA was
successful. 1% gels were made using 50mL of 1X TAE buffer and 0.5g of agarose. 2.5mL of Ecosafe
dye was added to the gel before mixing and then cooling in a gel rig. 1.0mL of loading dye was mixed
with 4.0mL of DNA from PCR tubes. DNA samples were then loaded in their respective wells along
with 5mL of 1kb ladder to approximate band sizes during visualization of the gel. Gels were
visualized using UV light set at a wavelength of 302nm. Each gel was exposed to UV light for 10
seconds before the image was captured with an Azure gel imaging system.
Purification
PCR tubes were ready for purification when a single DNA band was present per lane on the agarose
gel. If multiple bands were obtained in a single lane the PCR process and gel visualization process
was repeated however, the denaturation temperature was run at a higher temperature to prevent non
specific binding of the primers to the DNA template. The purification process used an Invitrogen PCR
clean up kit. 5mL of charge switch beads

The disorder did not become more common until it was affecting the veterans at war who are haunted
by the tragedies of war. PTSD did not become an official disorder until the American Psychiatric
Association added it to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders or DSM III in 1980.
(Friedman) The DSM III is a criterion for the classification of mental disorders that was first
published in 1952. In today s world, it is known as the DSM V. PTSD in the DSM III was classified as
an anxiety disorder. However, today PTSD is now diagnosed as a trauma and stressor related disorder.
What we know now about PTSD is that under the classification of trauma and stressor related
disorder, a person must be exposed to a life stress related event to cause the disorder. What we also
know now about PTSD is that it can occur in one of four ways: direct exposure to trauma; witnessing
trauma in person; learning a close friend or relative experienced trauma (indirect exposure); and
repeated or extreme indirect exposure to aversive details of the event

The 3d Seismic Survey Of East Godavari Mangrove Area
The 3D seismic survey in East Godavari mangrove area has short term effects on the environment.
The surveyed area includes the main six reserved mangrove patches in East coast of India and the
process of lying of geophones cables and shoot hole drilling for 3D seismic exploration may lead to
the destruction of habitat through clearing the vegetation. Primary sources of disturbances associated
with exploration include equipment transportation inside the mangrove, vehicle traffic, shot hole
drilling activities, and underground blasting. Seismic exploration survey has the potential to affect
wildlife either by increasing noise and human activity around them, or seismic shooting process. The
seismic activities can even lead to long term habitat alteration. Though the exploration activities is
often a short term process, extending over a few months, the footprint of exploration activities
especially in the high wildlife sensitive area can be quite large (Jorgenson et al. 2010). Seismic
exploration can alter plant community structure, directly affecting fauna of that area on a long term
basis (Jorgenson et al. 2010). There is evidence to suggest wildlife may react to seismic activity with
elevated metabolic rates (Bradshaw et al. 1998), and the cumulative effects of repeated disturbance of
individuals may affect population reproductive rates if exploration is widespread (Bradshaw et al.
1998).
Extensive studies are conduced to estimate the impact of seismic activities on marine

The Happiest Refugee, Directed By Phillip Noyce And The...
Good morning year twelve English and Mrs Broadway,
Our cohort is nearing the end of its secondary education and therefore it is important that we reflect on
the ways in which it has shaped our attitudes values and beliefs. For example, over the past five years
we have read, analysed and evaluated various literary works (novels, plays, films etc) in our English
studies. These texts express various ideologies, some of which have left a lasting impression on our
attitudes, values and beliefs. In addition to this, English literary texts have provided us with historical
knowledge aswell as a thorough understanding of the role that aesthetic devices play in engaging
readers and expressing ideas. Three texts that have influenced me as an ... Show more content on

The resettlement of refugees in Australia is a controversial topic; many people believe that they come
here to commit crime, change our culture and steal our jobs. The Happiest Refugee has enhanced my
belief that refugees should be allowed to live in Australia. I believe that refugees are here to escape
war and persecution; they are not criminals, nor do they want to change our culture or steal our jobs.
Refugees are generally grateful for their new lives in Australia and they embrace our culture. The
Happiest Refugee is a source of evidence that supports this.
The Happiest Refugee discusses various concepts including the effects of war, the trauma that
refugees experience, their desire to contribute to society and our negative attitudes towards them. The
second Indochina war occurred because the communist state of North Vietnam wanted political
control over South Vietnam. Between 1955 and 1973, the USA was involved in South Vietnam s
defensive effort. In 1973 however, the US army left because too much money was being invested into
the war and defensive attempts proved futile. As a result, South Vietnam was left completely
defenceless. After the war, South Vietnamese soldiers and their families were captured by the North
Vietnamese communists and held in labour camps. Some of these prisoners were eventually released
(after 1976), however, they

Data/information is always a most important asset for any organization whose security cannot be
compromised. With the advances in technology, the risk to these valuable assets increases. So their
security is a big challenge. In [8] different database security layers are defined shown in figure (2)
below. These layers are: database administrator, system administrator, security officer, developers and
employee. For each layer some well defined security policies have been anticipated. These policies
ensure the security features, privacy, confidentiality and integrity.
This study mainly focuses on issues in databases security and measures taken to solve those issues.
Securing sensitive data from illegal access, theft and forging becomes a big challenge for different
organizations, like government, no government and privates sectors. Encryption of data in client or
server side where data is shared between different parties is not sufficient.
Basically the problem is to ensure that semi trusted database is secure or not. [6]

Mrs Warren s Profession And The Ruined Maid
Being female has a long history of being considered lesser than the male counterpart, the same is true
for female sexuality. While modern times have come to accept female sexuality in all its forms, past
literature often dealt with it through the act of prostitution. Both George Bernard Shaw s Mrs. Warren
s Profession and Thomas Hardy s The Ruined Maid deal with the representation of female sexuality
through prostitution and brothels. This is portrayed as empowering for the women involved despite
societal conditions forcing this role, yet deals with the reaction from society very differently. Both
texts also deal with the social stigma that surrounds prostitution and the utilization of female sexuality
in different way while both having the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Mrs. Warren s Profession, the concept of women viewing prostitution and brothels as the only
means for upward social mobility or even just survival is not shied away from. In a preface from the
play in 1902, Shaw himself is quoted as saying No normal woman would be a professional prostitute
if she could better herself by being respectable . This also ties into the reason that Mrs. Warren is not
portrayed as helpless or a victim for being a prostitute/ part of the brothel, rather having the blame
placed on the societal and economic conditions that led to her choosing this occupation (Liggins 50).
This also ties back to Shaw s intention of throwing the responsibility and guilt of Mrs. Warren s
choices back on the British public themselves rather than on the individual. This sentiment is also felt
in The Ruined Maid , as it proposes that the only reason for Melia s current place in society is due to
her being ruined, as prior she was poor and uneducated on the farm (Hardy 5 11). The text alludes that
her pre marital fornication allowed her upward mobility, and it may have been the only way to achieve
it. Through being ruined, Melia has improved herself both socially and intellectually (Renner 25).
Another comparison between the two texts is the acceptance of other female characters that the
decision made good financial sense to join the

Does the framework describe and define the concepts of interest?
Yes, the framework describes the concepts of interest well. Each variable in question is well described
with the questionnaire entries discussed and interpreted for each of the independent variables.
3. Does the framework present the relationships among the concepts? Is a map or model of the
framework provided for clarity?
The framework presented does not explain the relationship among the independent variables
themselves. It explains more about each variable specifically with no explanations about how each
independent variable relate to the other. However, the relationship between the dependent and the
independent variables is partially explained in the framework. The framework flow chart is not drawn
in the research but only a presentation of the outcomes due to the researches secondary and primary
variables is represented in a diagram
4. Are the concepts in the framework linked to the study variables?
Yes the concept is linked with the study variable because it s true that knowledge, impact of pain, self
efficacy and coping with pain affect the menstrual pain management.

Herbal Remedies
Each year, there are millions of Americans that are diagnosed with depression by doctors who are
quick to hand out a fistful of prescriptions for pharmaceutical medications. But these pills cause a
multitude of harmful side effects that are worse than the mental illness itself. Because of this, more
people are starting to turn to more natural products for the treatment of mild depression, such as the
following ten herbal remedies: Turmeric Tea Turmeric tea for mild depression is easy to make and

Chamomile There are several varieties of chamomile that are sold in garden stores. One of the best
ones to use for the treatment of mild depression is German chamomile though. It is so safe that
mothers can give it to their infants that are struggling with sleep because of a bad cold. Passion Flower
The sweet flavor of passion flower extract makes it perfect for flavoring bottles of fruit punch that are
sold in grocery stores. This flower grows on a long, trailing vine that can quickly take over a fence in a
summer season if it is never pruned. So food manufacturers take advantage of its high rate of growth
by planting fields of it to use for their concoctions. It only grows in certain climates though, so most
people have to purchase it in a dried, powdered form. Kava The kava root is a natural tranquilizer that
works fast to calm depression and anxiety. It can make a person sleepy though. So never take it before
operating heavy machinery or vehicles of any kind. Also, this herb can only be taken occasionally
because using it on a long term basis could potentially damage a person s liver. St. John s Wort

Descriptive Essay About Personality
1.Descriptive Essay Nothing But Personality It was my first day at the school, I got into the building
where I was going to live. My eyes searched carefully from the door of one bedroom to that of another
for my name which ought to have been pasted on the door of one of these bedrooms. At last I found it.
On stepping into the bedroom I found there was already a student who was making her bed, She was
thin, short and black skinned. Her hair looked like a bundle of straw. Her dirty clothes and lusterless
eyes clearly indicated that she had a long journey. Her clothes were made of cheap cloth. Her coat was
too short, and the legs of her trousers were too loose. She wore a pair of unfashionable rubber shoes.
And all her looks made me feel that she did not look like a smart girl. A yokel, I concluded. The
second she spoke, her accent told me that she was from the south. May I help you get your luggage
from the office? I did not decline her help because I really needed it. She was quick in movement. She
walked out of the room and was soon far ahead of me in the corridor. A nice girl, I said to myself. I
will make friends with her. I hurried and caught up with her. Sometimes outlook does not mean
anything about personality. 2.Original Poem I Hear The War I hear the rapid crackle of automatic

The Norman Blumberg Housing Project
On May 3rd when I visited the site where the Norman Blumberg Housing Project once stood, the air
was hauntingly peaceful. I had read about the notoriety of the site during my research, how over its
existence it had become an area of concentrated poverty and crime, but on this day this urban setting
was quiet and calm. On the two square city blocks where a complex of apartment buildings once ruled
the landscape, only a single high rise remained among the unchecked wild grass. However, even in the
peacefulness of this day in Sharswood, the looming presence of the infamous Norman Blumberg
Apartments could still be felt. After standing for nearly six decades, the two public housing high rise

As a central part of this analysis, I will be discussing the role Blumberg Apartments played in the
deterioration of Sharswood. I will also be evoking the Pruitt Igoe myth as Blumberg Apartments
shares many similarities with the notorious Pruitt Igoe development. Finally, I will present and discuss
the future transformation of Sharswood as detailed by the Sharswood Blumberg Neighborhood
Transformation Plan. To judge the success or failure of Blumberg Apartments, we must first analyze
the project as it works to provide good housing. Good housing should not just be regarded as a noun, it
should also encompass housing as a verb. The commodity of the house as a shelter is the noun. This
commodity should provide a place for redressing. It should hold the essential necessities that make for
a comfortable and complete home. A place that balances privacy and social interactions. As a verb,
good housing should be a utility that works to enhance one s life (Turner, 1972). It should be a
stepping stone towards opportunity. For Blumberg Apartments in the grand scheme, both of these
facets can be regarded as failures. As the housing projects suffered through massive deterioration, it
failed as a commodity. Residents described how their housing had stairwells that reeked of urine and
dirty diapers, constantly breaking appliances and elevators, and the frequent sounds of gunshots
(Colaneri, 2016). Furthermore, units were found to not meet minimum size standards and

Case Study Of Chorrillos
In this section the Chorrillos case study will be presented in terms of MMA and end user perspective.
4.1 Modernized Mixture Approach MMA
Dry toilet systems were presented as innovative technology sanitation system in the project applied in
Chorrillos sector. The scale of the project is local and small, and centralized as regards as the origin of
the funds and experts which are part of the government health institutions with low participation of
end users. Dry toilet systems have high separated water flows because their infrastructure separate
urine and fecal feces in different containers without connection to sewage systems, however end user
participation is high because of the different tasks to compose fecal feces.

Functionality was an issue in the Chorrillos case because the technology demands urine and fecal

early designing phase. Chorrillos case study shows high level of Interdependence among end users as
regards of cleaning, fecal feces compost management and urine fields fertilization as tasks assigned
per family. Interdependence in this tasks increase end users engagement, empowerment and income,
however requires shared responsibilities, dependence and compromise among community. Pilot

Reminiscences Of The Cuban Revolution Summary
The book, Reminiscences of the Cuban Revolution by Ernesto Che Guevara is a firsthand account of
the Cuban insurgency in the Sierra Maestra. Guevara s recollections about the revolution provide
important information about the challenges the rebels faced when they first landed in Cuba as well as
the diverse roles the peasantry played during the insurgency. Also, Che illustrates why the Cuban army
was unable to defeat the rebels and the advantages and limitations of waging guerrilla warfare in the
Sierra Maestra.
When the rebels landed in Cuba they faced many difficult challenges. The Granma Expedition from
Mexico took seven days and most of the men experienced severe seasickness as well as constant
hunger due to the lack of food onboard. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rebels had superior knowledge about the geography of the Sierra Maestra, which allowed them to
stay off the army s radar until they were ready to attack. The insurgents also had significantly less
combatants and inferior weapons than the army so the Sierra Maestra, with its numerous hiding places
proved to be a perfect place to set up ambushes and made retreating easy. Another advantage of
fighting in the Sierra Maestra was the harsh weather. The enemy soldiers were more concerned with
the rain than with the possibility of an attack. The rain, cold and mosquitos demoralized the army
troops who were not used to living in such harsh conditions. Also, Batista could never send his full
army to crush the insurgency in the Sierra Maestra because doing so would leave the cities vulnerable
to other rebel groups looking to overthrow him. However, waging guerilla warfare in the Sierra
Maestra also had its limitations. The rebels had limited manpower and firearms while the army had
thousands of soldiers and top notch weaponry provided by the United States. Guerilla warfare in the
Sierra Maestra also limited the rebels ability to have influence in Havana where other rebel groups
such as the Revolutionary Directorate operated. Another limitation of guerilla warfare in the Sierra
Maestra was the inability to attack and occupy major cities such as Havana and Santa Clara, which
would have sped up the

Essay Of Fight Club And Memento
Critical Essay by Agnes Bruinsma 385859 When you have insomnia, you re never really asleep... and
you re never really awake (Fight Club, date). The neo noir movies Fight Club (1999) and Memento
(2001) illustrate a reality, as seen by the protagonists. However, what exactly is reality? This issue is
employed skilfully in both Fight Club and Memento, which makes them interesting to watch and
analyse. The Usual Suspects, another neo noir film, also employs the issue reality in the narrative but,
it differs from Fight Club and Memento, as reality is twisted by intention. This critical essay will take
a look at the different causes for a distorted reality, how the protagonists receive reality, the use of
narrative to create a distorted reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These twists lets one question everything that just happened. In Fight Club, the narrator finds out that
Tyler Durden is not another men, but him. This changes the whole context. The audience has no idea
that Tyler Durden is the narrator, as they are most likely captivated by his chaotic, sociopathic and
masculine character. Once finding out the truth, one needs to rethink the entire film. Every scene has a
different meaning once finding out that Tyler and the narrator are one. In Memento Leonard is
confronted by Teddy a cop and his friend that Sammy Jankis the men Leonard often talks about is
actually him. He tells Leonard that he has been lying to himself in order to be happy and that he is
chasing a men who he believes is John G. Teddy furthermore suggests that actually has created a
different reality in which he is chasing John G, in order to cope with the fact that his condition killed
his wife. When Leonard later gets in his car and askes himself Do I lie to myself to be happy?
(Memento, 2000), which he admits, a distortion in reality is justified by himself. He then makes Teddy
the new John G, which changes the way the audience looks at Leonard.
To conclude, both Fight Club and Memento use an unconventional narrative structure and tell thrilling
stories. The movies enchant the viewers from the beginning with their absorbing storylines. The
distortion of reality is created by protagonist with different views on reality,

The Goal By Eliyahu M
The Goal by Eliyahu M. Goldratt explains important concepts of operation and general management.
Although this novel is set in a manufacturing plant, the concepts and terms can be universally applied
to a variety of organizations. Through the story of Alex Rogo, readers learn how common
misconceptions about the operations of a business can be detrimental to the success of a firm;
conversely, Goldratt illustrates how alternative approaches can revive a plant and help to achieve its
ultimate goal. After Alex requests the help of Jonah in order to save his failing plaint, Jonah gives him
three measurements that are used to convey a manufacturing company s goal of making money. These
three measurements are throughput, inventory, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the term is redefined as the rate of generating money from sales so that there is a direct
correlation between throughput and a company s goal; because selling a product generates money, the
amount a company can manufacture during a certain amount of time is essentially the rate in which a
company is able to start generating money through sales. Inventory is typically defined as stock that is
held for the purposes of meeting future demand. Goldratt transforms the definition to incorporate the
relationship between inventory and money. So, while traditional definitions classify inventory as stock
to be sold, Goldratt reclassifies it as the money spent to buy the things that will be eventually sold.
Operational expense is typically an expense that is incurred from regular business operations. The
book s definition is quite similar to the traditional definition in that both categorizes an operational
expense as money spent, but Goldratt further expands regular business operations as turning inventory
to throughput.
I find the book s definitions of throughput, inventory, and operational expense very useful. I feel that
businesses would be more successful in using these definitions as opposed to traditional definitions
because I believe that an established goal should dictate the company s operations, including the way a
company defines the terms related to

Analysis Of Katharine Kolcaba s Comfort Theory
Comfort theory was created in the 1990 s by Katharine Kolcaba who was performing research on the
analysis of comfort across many disciplines (Petiprin, 2016). From her research, she created a theory
of nursing based upon three major forms of comfort that humans need to achieve wellness (Petiprin,
2016). They include: relief, ease and transcendence. Relief is the feeling obtained by patients as needs
are being met (Petiprin, 2016). Ease is what patients feel when they are relaxed and have the sense of
comfort that their needs have been met and they no longer need to feel anxious (Petiprin, 2016).
Transcendence is the ability for patients to use their sense of comfort to rise above any struggles and
conflicts they may be facing (Petiprin, 2016). Overall, Kolcaba defines her theory and comfort in
general as the immediate state of being strengthened through having the human needs for relief, ease,
and transcendence addressed in four contexts of experience (physical, psychospiritual, sociocultural,
and environmental) (Kolcaba DiMarco, 2005). By using this theory in a hospital environment,
Kolcaba hoped that comfort levels would be increased for all patients, staff and visitors and that
patient health would improve as a result of this theory implementation (Boudiab Kolcaba, 2015). In a
case study of pediatric patients, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Heroism In Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, And Sister Carrie
The definition of a hero is not straight edged. Heroes are, however, imagined to possess certain
qualities. Courage, romanticism, charming beauty, and a willingness to defy society are four very
prominent characteristics amongst heroes and contribute to today s notion of heroism. In order to
decide if and to what extent any character lives up to the standards of heroism, one must search for
these qualities.
Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, and Sister Carrie are three heroes from three different novels. It has
already been decided that they are heroes. Therefore, the question is not whether or not they are
heroes. The question is to what extent do they fit this notion of heroism? To what extent do they
possess courage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to be brave, one cannot fear getting in trouble. Although he struggles with this obstacle and
wants to obey his widow guardian, Huck makes a huge decision that shows his overall defeat of this
fear: Huck decides to protect Jim, a runaway slave. Huck knows he could get in trouble both by the
law and by God. He knows that he has a big decision to make, declaring, ?I?d got to decide, forever,
betwixt two things,? and he decides, ?All right, then, I?ll go to hell? (Twain 223). The fear of
punishment is an obstacle that Huck overcomes, and on the other side stands courage. The mere fact
that Huck is helping a runaway slave is courageous, but specific actions further prove Huck?s bravery.
A choice example is when Huck takes the stolen money from the duke and king and returns it to the
rightful owners (Twain 188 191). Another instance where the reader sees that spark of courage in
Huck?s eyes is when, after boarding a wrecked, abandoned ferryboat and falling upon a few villains,
Huck bravely takes matters into his own hands: ?But if we find their boat we can put all of ?em in a
bad fix ? for the Sheriff ?ll get ?em. Quick ? hurry! I?ll hunt the labboard side, you hunt the
stabboard? (Twain 80). Instead of seeing the ?gang of murderers? and cowardly going on his way,
Huck tries to trap them for the Sheriff. Thus, overall, Huck is courageous. Heroism, however, entails
more than courage. One must consider Huck?s romanticism, looks,

Greensleeves by Alan Spence
Greensleeves by Alan Spence Greensleeves by Alan Spence is a short story describing the life of an
elderly lady living alone on the top floor of high rise flats in Glasgow. Spence creates a character
readers feel sympathy for through isolation and lonliness, themes that run prominently throughout the
story. The title of the story Greensleeves is significant in developing the story. The elderly lady hears
the song playing on an ice cream van, but it s not as pleasant as she remembers. She could only just
recognise the tune for what it had once been. Not that coarse parody, stilted and mechanical, a tin
brashness, a gaudiness of noise. Unpleasant and irritating sounds and noises suggest the lady s

relates and can be interpreted from the lyrics in Uptown, And he takes all they got to give. LaLa
Brooks, one of the former group members of the Crystals quintet, expresses her frustration and
experience in working with Phil Spector. LaLa Brooks emotionally speaks in responding to the Agony
and Ecstasy of Phil Spector, movie published in the time of Spector s arrest, I held back tears the first

This demonstrates and embodies how Phil Spector, the producer and creator of the Wall of Sound,
held power over the Crystals. It is said that in producing the song, Spector chose specific instruments
so that he could layer them in a way that would overshadow the voices...that just stopped short of
being busy. When listening to the track, Uptown, one is able to notice that the Crystals seem to be
trying to sing over the musical instrumentations. After the production of Uptown, a former Crystal
member mentioned that Spector would barely let them take part in the production process. Dee Dee
Kennibrew states, From Uptown on he would bring in tracks, not finished, but enough for you to put
your own part down, so he would do everything in segments, so I could not tell you how or what he
kept of ours (History of Rock). Their success was dimmed by Phil Spector. He expressed that in
producing music, he was focusing on the sound, I was looking for a sound, a sound so strong that if
the material was not the greatest, the sound would carry the record (Wikipedia). His goal was to make
little symphonies for the kids , rather than genuinely caring for the success of his artists. As LaLa
Brooks said, He thought so much of himself that he didn t want any of his artists to be recognized

May Christ always take first place in our thoughts and actions. Benedict celebrated his first

that human being created in the image of God who is love, is able to practice love. His first encyclical
contains about 16,000 words in 42 paragraphs. His second encyclical titled, Spe Salvi, is about the
virtue of hope. His third and final encyclical, Caritas in Veritate, continued the Church s teachings on
social justice. Benedict travelled a lot during his first three years as pope. He traveled to Italy,
Germany, Poland, Spain, Turkey, and Muslim. In 2007, he visited Brazil to address the Bishops

Legal Hustler
My Life as a Legal Hustler That moment when you realize your mother will not give you any money,
so you have to find another way to make some. A lot of you may have been in that situation, just as I
was in the sixth grade. My mother got tired of me asking her for money as if it grew on trees. She told
me that I either had to wait until Christmas or my birthday. I could not wait that long, so I set out to
make some money on my own.
My mother s friend, Casime, took me to school January 12, 2009. On the ride there, he told me about
how he use to hustle candy at school, I was all ears when it came to listening to his story. The next
day, he surprised me with a fourteen dollar box of candy, a mixed Skittles and Starburst thirty piece
pack. He told me to distribute each pack of candy for one dollar each so that I would come out with a
sixteen dollar profit. That day was challenging, especially since I did not have any customer service
skills and did not know anybody in that school.
The first day of selling candy was not what I expected it to be, I only sold two packs of Starburst and
four packs of Skittles. My products were not selling because nobody knew that I was selling candy.
The next day I decided not to sell any products, instead I used that day to advertise. I told everyone

Justice In The Dreyfus Affair
The Dreyfus Affair is the most striking examples of a complex miscarriage of justice, and often seen
as a modern and universal symbol of injustice. Alfred Dreyfus, the youngest of nine children born to
Raphaël and Jeannette Dreyfus, was born in Mulhouse, Alsace in 1859. As he stated in his book called
Five Years of my Life, Dreyfus first sorrow was the Franco Prussian War, a war that never faded his
memory. When peace was declared upon the Franco Prussian War, Dreyfus states that my father chose
the French nationality, and we had to leave Alsace (1). Once in Paris, Dreyfus continued his studies.
Seeing his family uprooted by the war with Germany prompted Dreyfus to decide on a career in the
military. Following years of experience in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This collaboration was the revenge of the nationalist right wing elements that had failed to overthrow
the government. Also Colonel Paul Gaujac s discharge in February 1994 after submitting reports of
Dreyfus s innocence, was also a repercussion of the Dreyfus Affair. This latent anti Semitism that the
French population had been storing finally burst out on every scale of society. This outburst was due
to discontent triggered by various social and economical changes decreed by the government in the
final quarter of the 19th century. Before the affair, France had been one of the least anti Semitic
countries in Europe, but anti Semitism only started to seriously appear in an article written by
Drumont in 1886 claiming that a Jewish invasion was occurring. At the time only an insignificant
fraction of France was anti Semitic, but this seed of hatred spread throughout France, playing a major
role in the division of French politics; as well as being a major reason why the Dreyfus Affair
politically divided France in such drastic way. The day after the government had mentioned that a
Jewish officer was suspected of treason, outbursts of anti Semitism eventuated. Anti Semitic
newspapers display Dreyfus as a traitor, while others decided to wait for the verdict before publishing
their opinions. On December 22nd, 1884, the juries

Determining G on an Incline Essay
Determining g on an Incline
Lab #1
Theory: During the early part of the seventeenth century, Galileo experimentally examined the
concept of acceleration. One of his goals was to measure the acceleration due to gravity, or the
acceleration of freely falling objects. Unfortunately, his timing devices were not precise enough to
measure the free fall time directly. He decided to dilute gravity by using fluids, inclined planes, and
pendulums.
Galileo s idea of diluting gravity using inclined planes worked like this: the acceleration of a rolling
cart on an inclined plane is small, therefore is easy to measure; when the angle of the incline gets
bigger, the acceleration will get bigger; by measuring the dependence of the acceleration on ... Show

Using Vernier, we clicked collect while releasing the cart after motion detector starts to click. This was
done moving the hand quickly out the path. Using logger pro, indicated which portion was to be used
by dragging across the graph to indicate the starting and ending times. Then the linear button was
clicked to perform the linear regression of the selected data. The Linear Button was used to determine
the slope of the velocity vs. time graph, only using the portion of the data for times when the cart was
freely rolling. We found the acceleration of the cart from the fitted line. Record the value in the data
table. These steps where repeated 5 mores times. Measured the length of the incline, x which is the
distance between the two points of the ramp. Measure the height, h, the height of the book(s). The last
two measurements was used determine the angle of the incline. Raise the incline by placing a second
book under the end. Adjust the book so that distance, x, is the same as the previous reading. Repeated
these steps with 3, 4 and 5 books.
ANALYSIS DATA
The greater the incline and greater the height, the greater the acceleration of the cart. This experiment
measured the acceleration of a cart moving down a sloped track in order to find a relation between the
acceleration of an object and the sine of the angle at which it is moving. There were three separate
experimental stages, with the variable being the angle at which the

Victory Motorcycles is a motorcycle manufacturer based in Spirit Lake, Iowa, United States, which

that was my biggest concern. To sell against an image, and what some would call a life style, is where
Polaris would have their greatest challenge. They could not just equal Harley Davidson in
competition, because they weren t competing against just a motorcycle. Polaris was competing against
Harley s American motorcycle image. To compete with an established reputation, Polaris would have
to be better than Harley. They would have to outperform, out handle, and be the best in class. This
challenge would be a tall order, and would require Polaris to execute this plan in cost savings mode.
Polaris did have advantages in having several different product lines, good quality control and loyal

reduce costs without cutting corners in quality. Polaris would have to be careful about what it

Muslim Women in Interfaith Relatinships
Muslim women in interfaith relationships
By Muneebah Dawson

We are living in a world where religious peace talks are prominent. The walls of gender inequality are
encouraged to be broken down. Tradition and culture is evolving. However; in the Muslim community
I still find that women are struggling to find gender equality. Women are frowned upon when they
enter into interfaith marriages. Love does not ask what religion you belong to. Following is my project
and its findings on Muslim women in interfaith relationships and how they feel about the inequality of
Muslim marriage rights in Islam.

Methodology
I have four participants of which I have interviewed using a questionnaire. I have recorded and
transcribed two of them and two of them I have taken notes. I have discussed with them the
discrimination against them; one married to a non Muslim man, one engaged to be married to a non
Muslim man and one in a relationship with a non Muslim man. This has therefore presented an
interesting lens for understanding the ways in which these engagements have affected their immediate
family life in their specific social, legal and political context. Furthermore I have interviewed Dr.
Sadiyya Shaikh, my fourth participant who is a Muslim Feminist and a lecturer at the University of
Cape Town who holds a doctorate in Islamic religious studies. My aim with her was to find out why
only Muslim men are allowed to marry a non Muslim women and not the other way around. I gained
her professional perspective on the interpretations of the Quran and its text on this matter.
The following are the set of questions that I have asked my participants when I conducted my
interviews.
Interview Questions for the three Muslim women in an interfaith relationship/ marriage
1. The Quran speaks of the acceptance of Muslim men in interfaith marriages to women of the Book .
Muslim women are not mentioned in this context however; there is also no mention of it being haram

Vte Case Studies
Treatment for non invasive VTE consists of three phases: initial phase, early maintenance phase and
long term secondary prevention phase (Figure 2). Low molecular weight heparin, unfractionated
heparin and fondaparinux are the keys of initial treatment for patients with DVT and PE. Heparin act
by binding to the natural anticoagulant antithrombin, thereby consequently increasing the activation of
thrombin by antithrombin and several others activated coagulation factors. Unfractionated heparin
(UFH) is an immediate anticoagulant for patients of VTE which are clinically instable. Patients who
might undergo advanced therapies for VTE such as fibrinolysis, catheter based intervention and
surgery is therefore preferred UFH. It is usually administered as an initial bolus followed by
continuous infusion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is best suited as initial anticoagulant therapy for patients with excellent prognosis who are clinically
stable. LMWH as monotherapy is highly recommended for at first 3 months of therapy. This approach
will reduce the rate of recurrent VTE [21]. However, low molecular weight heparin is highly
recommended over unfractionated heparin because of lower rate of haemorrhage, heparin induced
thrombocytopenia and VTE reoccurrence compared to unfractionated heparin. Heparin induced
thrombocytopenia (HIT) occurs when heparin dependent platelet activating antibodies recognize
platelet factor 4 (PF4) bound to heparin. HIT more likely to cause

The Great Gatsby Cultural Influences
Throughout the past, writing has left an influential mark on literature and culture due to widespread
change happening in America during those times. The early twentieth century serves as an excellent
illustration of the theory that writers reflect the major cultural influences of their time (Cultural
Influences on American Literature in the Late Nineteenth Century). F. Scott Fitzgerald was an
outstanding author who greatly influenced Americans of his time through his phenomenal works of
literature. One of his most influential novels, The Great Gatsby, defines this modernistic lifestyle of
this era through his reflection of the thriving middle and upper classes. This movement focused on the

Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, strongly reflected the attitudes of people during the
twentieth century by their disillusioned idea of the American Dream. In this novel, Fitzgerald creates
situations and characteristics similar to his life while presenting the skewed moralities of society in the
twentieth century. For example, Fitzgerald displays the desire for money during this era through the
character Jay Gatsby who throughout the novel obtains money through dishonesty of his occupation.
This change in America was the turning point for how the would continue to be influenced by the
desire for wealth and materialism. F. Scott Fitzgerald reflects this idea of the modernistic lifestyle and
has educated society on his view of this change of morals in the twentieth

Fall Of Communism In Eastern Europe
Karl Marx came up with the idea of communism. Communism is a political system in which everyone
is equal, it is characterised by the absence of social class and money, and the state. The main reason
for the fall of communism (1989) in Eastern Europe would be due to its wide ethnicity, and due to the
people with in the countries not accepting one another. Eastern Europe is made of 21 countries, each
having a different culture. Some of these countries are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Poland,
Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Albania, Kosovo, Ukraine and Serbia. Most of these countries
have a different language and religion. Bosnia is located in South Eastern Europe, and classified as an
Islamic nation with having its own language (Bosnian). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one was to be a communist they would not be able to practice religion. Communism is against
religion and its ways Religion and communism are incompatible, both theoretically and practically.
Having Eastern Europe with that many religious groups made it impossible for them to achieve
communism. There was once an somewhat of well established communist state in Eastern Europe, it
was not fully communistic due to most people seeing it as transitioning to a socialist party. Yugoslavia
was a communist state, it was around from 1945 1980. While Yugoslavia existed most of its firms
were co operatively operated. The problem with Yugoslavia is that it lasted while Tito (Communist
leader) lasted, once Tito died so did Yugoslavia. Tito was sought as a great leader one of the last great
WWII leaders. It seems as he was only able to keep everything in place due to his great ties with the
west (United States of America), and the major support and love from the civilians of Yugoslavia. Tito
is seen as a great leader but he neglected to create strong ties with in the united countries. He did not
encourage students to study outside their republics. This had created a week bond between the
countries. Once he died it was obvious that there was going to be a split, Tito might of have held the
countries together but did not bring the people of different ethnicities together. If Yugoslavia was not
created because of the after math of WWII, but instead created due to people wanting to create a better
nation in which communism is a reality everything would be different. When talking about the
unification of Yugoslavia mostly

With poor weather, it was clear that the species that thrived in the wooded areas survived more

This price is something many young people are willing to pay for the possibility of great reward.
Violence in High School sports can cause injuries because there is a lack of certified trainers available,
adolescents are undevelopment and their bodies are overused, and the violence can cause lifelong

equipment, growing cartilage may be more vulnerable to stresses and children may not have the
complex motor skills needed for certain sports until after puberty (Adirim). There are many athletic

The excerpt we read from the book Evicted moved many people. It provoked powerful emotions and
caused many to rethink they their feelings about the tails of told by far too many. Evicted the story of
families on both side of the housing epidemic focusing on renters and landlords. I will be comparing
my own views and using my experiences to gain a deeper understanding of: the people effected; the
impact it has on families of both sides; the lesser and the lessee; the reason we are in this crises; and
what can be done. Evicted is no doubt a piece that can stir the emotions of everyone who choices to sit
down and read it. I believe everyone can agree that far too many families are cast into the cold and
unknown due to the rising cost of housing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author focuses on rising housing costs. Here is where myself and the author begin to part. Unlike
the author I don t believe the answer is this simple. Although the rates as he describes are rising faster
than any other market or minimum wage. One most always look introspectively at a cause first before
looking externally. The problem with blanket statement like: the singular reason is rising costs, is that
it holds blameless those who choose not to better themselves. One of the major problems I see in the
world is a sense of undeserved entitlement. If you can t pay rent in downtown of city my solution is to
look for housing elsewhere. I have moved across the country from my family for years and now am
the closest I have been in over 4 years still 5 hours away. Growing up my housing situation has been
just as unstable as many described in this piece. It was a sense of pride and entitlement that put me in
that situation not rising costs. After leaving home and moving to California I found myself struggling
one day to make rent, I was paying $1,800 a month just for rent let alone a car payment and utilities.
Although this was unexpected and due to something I could not control I had to remedy the situation I
cut back on unnecessary expenses, moved when my lease finished and now I refuse to ever be in that
situation again. I am now here at UW Madison pursuing an education that will allow me to be
financially stable for the rest of my life. If I can make it with all of the setbacks I have had in my life,
why shouldn t we encourage others to do the same? Minimum wage although it should cover expenses
for housing we all know doesn t and we adjust our sights to accommodate for that. We get an
education and better ourselves and those around us. This allows us the lives we want to live. In closing
I hold the renters responsible

The Start of Something New
Everybody knows what comics are, they ve been the focus of many major motion pictures, but comics

century ago, but they had a major influence on American culture and revolutionized the media and

The Golden age of Media
The Bias
Comics allowed Americans to forget about the impending crisis of war in Europe (WW2), when I say

The History Of Scarlet Fever
Due to the description of the disease, Scarlet fever seems to have been dated back almost 2,500 years
even back to the time of Hippocrates. Supposedly there has been 3 major epidemics of Scarlet Fever.
The first uncontested account of scarlet fever came in 1553 similar to measles, diphtheria and other
rashes however some say it was seen as early as 430 B.C. Scarlet fever brought about a death rate then
as high as one hundred and fifty out of one hundred thousand, which is a very morbid death rate.
Professor John Ingrassia described this disease as numerous spots ranging large and small, fiery and
red, of universal distribution, so that the whole body seems on fire, some there are who think that

According the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM4),
children must have at least six out of nine listed criteria in order to be diagnosed with ADHD. Some
examples of these criteria includes, but is not limited to, paying little attention to detail, lack of
organization, forgetfulness, easily distracted, impatience, talkative, and fidgety ( Teaching , 1998,
Zeigler Dendy, 2000).
Diagnosing ADHD can be a difficult task because of the variance of symptoms and behaviors. What
often makes an attention deficit so complex is that two thirds of student with a disorder have at least
one other coexisting condition such as learning disabilities, anxiety, or depression (Zeigler Dendy,
2000, p1). One key identifier is a two to four year lag of age appropriate developmental skills (Zeigler
Dendy, 2002, p3). Other symptoms and behaviors that may be an indicator of ADHD include
disorganization, forgetfulness, impaired sense of time, variability in school work, sleep disturbances,
inability to learn from either punishment or rewards, and also the inability to adapt easily to change
(Zeigler Dendy, 2000).
A few facts to be aware of involve the heredity of ADHD, and the difference in behaviors between
boys and girls. Forty to fifty percent of children with ADHD have at least one parent who has been
diagnosed with ADHD, and

Physiological Responses to the Human Body from Exercising...
The objective of the paper is to present the physiological responses to the human body from exercising
in the heat. It will also include acute and chronic adaptations that the body will adjust to, as well as
practices that would be best fit for athletes and coaches. Exercising in the heat plays a major role in
the field of many athletic sports to date; this includes running sports, such as Track and Field,
Football, and even marathoners long distance road racers. The main stimulus that produces an increase
in core temperature is exercise, and when it is combined with a hot environment, it adds additional
strains to the body. Exercising in the heat has positive effects as well as negative effects that could
lead to health risk if procedures are not properly followed. If an athlete or an untrained personnel does
not take precaution while in heat the risk of health could increase. When exercising in the heat initially
begins, a person may experience changes in the body such as, but not limited, to an increase in his or
her heart rate, an increase in his or her sweat rate, increase in body temperature, and dehydration.
These factors are increasing because during exercise especially in the heat the body has to rid itself of
the excessive heat being produced by the working muscles as well as from the environment. Once
sweat is produced it will cool the body and will evaporate (if in a non humid environment). Sweating
is a very important factor in releasing heat, without

Therefore, schools tend to put children with disabilities in the same classroom and have them learn the
same material at the same pace. That resulted in children with disabilities to not succeed. A supreme
court decision was made that all schools must provide private one on one schooling to such children
with disabilities. Since 1975, great strides have been made in improving educational opportunities.
The great strides can be attributed to the Education for All Handicapped Children Act which is now
called Individuals with Disabilities Act.
According to the Journal of Early Intervention lack of social skills has an impact on children with
disabilities. Social interactions help develop any child s personable skills and helps them establish
who they are. Embedded peer modeling has shown to increase children with autisms ability to interact
with peers. Children with autism have difficulty developing positive peer relationships (DiSalvo
Oswald, 2002; Mconnell, 2002; Strain Hoyson, 2000).
Examples of developmental disabilities are Autism spectrum disorder, behavior disorders, Down
syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome and intellectual disabilities.

Jim Carrey Speech Analysis
Many people recognize Jim Carrey as the pet detective or the not so bright Lloyd Christmas, but
during his commencement speech to the graduating class of 2014 at the Maharishi University of
Management, he opens up to reveal a much deeper side of himself. While the speech he delivers is
permeated with his traditional humor, Carrey also inspires his audience to think about how they want
to conduct their lives. Carrey presents an effective argument for persuading college graduates who are
entering the work field to not let fear control how they live. By successfully employing anecdote,
analogy, and audience engagement, Carrey entices his audience to be willing to take risks and choose
love over fear when approaching a career and other life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he knew that his family could not afford a bike, he followed the advice of his substitute
teacher and prayed for one , and continued life normally, without particularly looking for how this
would be accomplished. Carrey then shares his later astonishment, saying, two weeks later, I got home
from school to find a brand new mustang bike with a banana seat and easy rider handlebars because a
friend had entered Carrey s name in a raffle without his knowledge. With this experience, Carrey gives
an example of his own outlook on life letting the universe know what you want and working towards
goals while letting go of how it might come to pass has worked in his own life. Through sharing this
positive experience, Carrey entices his audience to refuse choosing fear when things seem impossible,
and instead choose hope and love. Carrey uses analogy as a method of expressing certain ideas to his
audience. First, Carrey conveys the unpredictability of life by using an analogy of a cat that will rub
up against your leg and purr until you pick her up and start pettin her, and out of nowhere she ll swat
you in the face . For Carrey s audience of graduating college students, who are just about to enter the
work force and other aspects of life, this analogy helps students understand that life will be
unpredictable; both pleasant and painful. Since many have had

Types Of Tumor Affects The Brain
Abstract:
Brain is one of the vital organ in human body, it has an extensive capillary network which is highly
vascularized. The brain capillary endothelial cells (BCECs), astrocytes, pericytes and neuron forms
the blood brain barrier (BBB) [1]. There are several types of tumor affects the brain, one such type of
tumor is Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). GBM is the most frequent and aggressive form of primary
tumor found in central nervous system, the world health organization (WHO) defined GBM as grade
IV astrocytoma [2]. Therefore, this urge us to propose a novel technique to treat GBM.

And then test for characterization, invitro and invivo for synthesized nanocomplex.
Aim:
The overall aim of this proposal is to synthesis a biocompatible nanocomplex which as an ability to
pass through the BBB and specifically to treat GBM by sustained drug release. Then, to study the
synergistic reinforced effect of two drugs and their resistance against fast clearance. Herein, we
hypothesis, that our synthesized nanocomplex will have increased bioavailability of drugs, increased
specificity for BBB and GBM, reduced drug side effects and finally, has targeted and sustained drug
release.

The Comfort Of Strangers Essay
The extract from Ian McEwan s novel The Comfort of Strangers tells the story of Robert and his
distant relationship with his family. Robert, the narrator, revisits the time that his parents left him and
his sisters home alone in his effort to see if his sisters did, in fact, hate him for telling on them. During
their parents absence, Robert followed his sisters into their parents room and watched them play dress
up with their mother s belongings. The extract follows a sequence of events: the first is dress up in the
early afternoon, then, clean up in the late afternoon, followed by dinner. In this extract, Ian McEwan
displays Robert s distant relationship with his sisters, father, and mother by demonstrating the
unreliability of appearances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After an afternoon of playing in the empty house, Robert and his sisters sit down for dinner with their
father in which Robert notes, I glanced up and he looked straight through my eyes, deep into my mind,
(McEwan 21 22). McEwan uses hyperbole in describing how the father looked deep into [Robert s]
mind , with the use of intrusive language adding to the notion of the father having immense, almost
supernatural, power. Robert even refers to his father as God. McEwan demonstrates the father s power
by contrasting the verbs glanced and looked . The verb glanced represents a timid and quick action
which gives Robert less authority and power in this scene. On the other hand, looked represents a
more authoritative and attention demanding action performed by the father, which causes a shift of
tone and focus. The first part of the extract is all about the sisters, making Robert in some ways
invisible, but now with the father looking directly at Robert, it brings the attention of the narrative
away from Eva and Maria as Robert gets singled out for judgment. This change of focus creates a shift
from the fun and lighthearted tone earlier on when the sisters were playing dress up to a more serious
tone when introducing the father. After Robert s father looks deep into Robert s mind he asks, Tell me,
Robert, what have you been doing this afternoon, (McEwan 23). As one of the three points of dialogue
in the extract, the father s question creates a significant amount of distance between the children and
him due to the formality in his tone. The father s decision to single out Robert from his sisters in the
question serves not only to further isolate Robert but also display the father s wisdom and power. The
father s knowledge of Robert s naïveté that leads Robert to think

The Book of Revelation Essay
This essay will argue that the eschatology of the Book of Revelation forms an integral part of John s
attempt within the pages of his book to form a literary world in which the forms, figures, and forces of
the earthly realm are critiqued and unmasked through the re focalization of existence from the
perspective of heaven. It will attempt to show that, in response to the social, political, religious, and
economic circumstances of his readers, the Book of Revelation forms a counter imaginative reality.
Through drawing upon an inaugurated sense of eschatology and evocative imagery, John is able to
pull the reader in and show them the true face of the imperial world and consequences of its ideology,
forcing the reader allegiance to fall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 5 of the Book of Revelation, we see Christ enter John s vision in the form of the slain lamb,
a picture of Christ sacrifice (Rev 5:6). In the new song of the saints, the lamb is said to have
ransom[ed] for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation (5:9) and, later in the
chapter, that ...every creature in heaven and on earth... now sings praise to the lamb (5:13). These
verses speak of God s victory already having been fulfilled in Christ s sacrifice in a way that leaves
the reader with a vision of the eschatological hope of the Christian faith as being both fulfilled, but yet
to be completed, a conception which falls within an inaugurated understanding of eschatology. As
such, the end of the world in Revelation can be considered as having already occurred in Christ s
death as evil was defeated and the New Creation initiated, while simultaneously not complete as the
forces of Satan; the beast, the false prophet, and the harlot, still function in the cosmology of the First
Creation. This understanding of the eschatological reality is an important aspect of John s text, as it is
through this that he is able to identify the dangers to the Church as well as encourage and strengthen
its faith.
With this inaugurated conception of eschatology and the not yet aspect of it in which his readers must
dwell, John perceived many threats to the Church, the most powerful one being

  • 2. Fda Research Paper FDA Drug Approval Process Tricia Garbuzovas COM/172 October 5, 2011 Cassandra Baker FDA Drug Approval Process Americans must wait up to 19 years after a discovered treatment before they can participate in benefits of a new medication (Philipson Sun, 2008). The regulatory process drug manufacturers need to endure before releasing potentially life saving medication is an extremely expensive, time consuming process. The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) is the main department of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) responsible for the safety of drugs (both prescription and over the counter) sold in the United States (Food and Drug Administration, 2011). This department scrutinizes the testing of new drugs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Product liability laws allow drug users to sue the manufacture, not the FDA, for any adverse drug reactions and side effects. While the FDA oversees drug safety, they do not ensure it. To avoid the costs associated with lawsuits and the risk of a bad name, drug companies do their best to fully, sometimes overly test products before release. When product liability law attempts to ensure safety already assured by the FDA, prices may be inefficiently high due to liability costs that do not deter manufacturers from producing unsafe products (Philipson Sun, 2008, p. 86). Drug Approval Process The time frame and cost to release a drug for sale into the United States market is enormous. After nearly 20 years and about one billion dollars spent, a drug manufacture can begin to market its product to consumers (Philipson Sun, 2008). The reason behind these huge numbers is the drug approval process mandated by the Food and Drug Administration. Understanding the testing process will explain the long time frame and huge costs associated with drug approval. Stages of the Testing Process There are several phases and applications to complete for drug development in the United States. The three basic stages in the testing process are preclinical, clinical, and approval. The first step of preclinical usually lasts anywhere from one to six years. During the preclinical phase, toxicology studies on the ingredients are collected and drug testing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Whole Genome Sequencing 2.0 Materials and Methods Whole genome sequencing (WGS) is one of the current methods used to obtain the entire genetic composition of a particular patient. Once the sequence of DNA has been obtained the information within the patient s genome is compared to a reference genome so that potentially pathogenic mutations can be identified. Regions of DNA that are of interest are validated following the procedure outlined below. Primer design Specific DNA loci were obtained from analysts in the form of Excel spreadsheets. These coordinates were visualized using the genome browser build 19 on the UCSC website. The DNA sequence that was taken was approximately 900 bp on either end of the region which was to be amplified. The DNA sequence which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This extension period was set for 7 minutes. 35 cycles were run when amplifying particular regions of DNA obtained from probands and their respective families. Note primers were tested with controls using the hotstart PCR conditions before primers were run with the patient s DNA. Visualizing PCR product Agarose gels were run to determine whether amplification of the targeted region of DNA was successful. 1% gels were made using 50mL of 1X TAE buffer and 0.5g of agarose. 2.5mL of Ecosafe dye was added to the gel before mixing and then cooling in a gel rig. 1.0mL of loading dye was mixed with 4.0mL of DNA from PCR tubes. DNA samples were then loaded in their respective wells along with 5mL of 1kb ladder to approximate band sizes during visualization of the gel. Gels were visualized using UV light set at a wavelength of 302nm. Each gel was exposed to UV light for 10 seconds before the image was captured with an Azure gel imaging system. Purification PCR tubes were ready for purification when a single DNA band was present per lane on the agarose gel. If multiple bands were obtained in a single lane the PCR process and gel visualization process was repeated however, the denaturation temperature was run at a higher temperature to prevent non specific binding of the primers to the DNA template. The purification process used an Invitrogen PCR clean up kit. 5mL of charge switch beads ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The disorder did not become more common until it was affecting the veterans at war who are haunted by the tragedies of war. PTSD did not become an official disorder until the American Psychiatric Association added it to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders or DSM III in 1980. (Friedman) The DSM III is a criterion for the classification of mental disorders that was first published in 1952. In today s world, it is known as the DSM V. PTSD in the DSM III was classified as an anxiety disorder. However, today PTSD is now diagnosed as a trauma and stressor related disorder. What we know now about PTSD is that under the classification of trauma and stressor related disorder, a person must be exposed to a life stress related event to cause the disorder. What we also know now about PTSD is that it can occur in one of four ways: direct exposure to trauma; witnessing trauma in person; learning a close friend or relative experienced trauma (indirect exposure); and repeated or extreme indirect exposure to aversive details of the event ... • 5. The 3d Seismic Survey Of East Godavari Mangrove Area The 3D seismic survey in East Godavari mangrove area has short term effects on the environment. The surveyed area includes the main six reserved mangrove patches in East coast of India and the process of lying of geophones cables and shoot hole drilling for 3D seismic exploration may lead to the destruction of habitat through clearing the vegetation. Primary sources of disturbances associated with exploration include equipment transportation inside the mangrove, vehicle traffic, shot hole drilling activities, and underground blasting. Seismic exploration survey has the potential to affect wildlife either by increasing noise and human activity around them, or seismic shooting process. The seismic activities can even lead to long term habitat alteration. Though the exploration activities is often a short term process, extending over a few months, the footprint of exploration activities especially in the high wildlife sensitive area can be quite large (Jorgenson et al. 2010). Seismic exploration can alter plant community structure, directly affecting fauna of that area on a long term basis (Jorgenson et al. 2010). There is evidence to suggest wildlife may react to seismic activity with elevated metabolic rates (Bradshaw et al. 1998), and the cumulative effects of repeated disturbance of individuals may affect population reproductive rates if exploration is widespread (Bradshaw et al. 1998). Extensive studies are conduced to estimate the impact of seismic activities on marine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Good morning year twelve English and Mrs Broadway, Our cohort is nearing the end of its secondary education and therefore it is important that we reflect on the ways in which it has shaped our attitudes values and beliefs. For example, over the past five years we have read, analysed and evaluated various literary works (novels, plays, films etc) in our English studies. These texts express various ideologies, some of which have left a lasting impression on our attitudes, values and beliefs. The resettlement of refugees in Australia is a controversial topic; many people believe that they come here to commit crime, change our culture and steal our jobs. The Happiest Refugee has enhanced my belief that refugees should be allowed to live in Australia. I believe that refugees are here to escape war and persecution; they are not criminals, nor do they want to change our culture or steal our jobs. Refugees are generally grateful for their new lives in Australia and they embrace our culture. The Happiest Refugee is a source of evidence that supports this. The Happiest Refugee discusses various concepts including the effects of war, the trauma that refugees experience, their desire to contribute to society and our negative attitudes towards them. The second Indochina war occurred because the communist state of North Vietnam wanted political control over South Vietnam. Between 1955 and 1973, the USA was involved in South Vietnam s defensive effort. In 1973 however, the US army left because too much money was being invested into the war and defensive attempts proved futile. As a result, South Vietnam was left completely defenceless. After the war, South Vietnamese soldiers and their families were captured by the North Vietnamese communists and held in labour camps. • 9. Mrs Warren s Profession And The Ruined Maid Being female has a long history of being considered lesser than the male counterpart, the same is true for female sexuality. While modern times have come to accept female sexuality in all its forms, past literature often dealt with it through the act of prostitution. Both George Bernard Shaw s Mrs. Warren s Profession and Thomas Hardy s The Ruined Maid deal with the representation of female sexuality through prostitution and brothels. This is portrayed as empowering for the women involved despite societal conditions forcing this role, yet deals with the reaction from society very differently. Both texts also deal with the social stigma that surrounds prostitution and the utilization of female sexuality in different way while both having the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mrs. Warren s Profession, the concept of women viewing prostitution and brothels as the only means for upward social mobility or even just survival is not shied away from. In a preface from the play in 1902, Shaw himself is quoted as saying No normal woman would be a professional prostitute if she could better herself by being respectable . This also ties into the reason that Mrs. Warren is not portrayed as helpless or a victim for being a prostitute/ part of the brothel, rather having the blame placed on the societal and economic conditions that led to her choosing this occupation (Liggins 50). This also ties back to Shaw s intention of throwing the responsibility and guilt of Mrs. Warren s choices back on the British public themselves rather than on the individual. This sentiment is also felt in The Ruined Maid , as it proposes that the only reason for Melia s current place in society is due to her being ruined, as prior she was poor and uneducated on the farm (Hardy 5 11). The text alludes that her pre marital fornication allowed her upward mobility, and it may have been the only way to achieve it. Through being ruined, Melia has improved herself both socially and intellectually (Renner 25). It is so safe that mothers can give it to their infants that are struggling with sleep because of a bad cold. Passion Flower The sweet flavor of passion flower extract makes it perfect for flavoring bottles of fruit punch that are sold in grocery stores. This flower grows on a long, trailing vine that can quickly take over a fence in a summer season if it is never pruned. So food manufacturers take advantage of its high rate of growth by planting fields of it to use for their concoctions. It only grows in certain climates though, so most people have to purchase it in a dried, powdered form. Kava The kava root is a natural tranquilizer that works fast to calm depression and anxiety. • 12. Descriptive Essay About Personality 1.Descriptive Essay Nothing But Personality It was my first day at the school, I got into the building where I was going to live. My eyes searched carefully from the door of one bedroom to that of another for my name which ought to have been pasted on the door of one of these bedrooms. At last I found it. On stepping into the bedroom I found there was already a student who was making her bed, She was thin, short and black skinned. Her hair looked like a bundle of straw. Her dirty clothes and lusterless eyes clearly indicated that she had a long journey. Her clothes were made of cheap cloth. Her coat was too short, and the legs of her trousers were too loose. She wore a pair of unfashionable rubber shoes. And all her looks made me feel that she did not look like a smart girl. A yokel, I concluded. The second she spoke, her accent told me that she was from the south. May I help you get your luggage from the office? I did not decline her help because I really needed it. She was quick in movement. She walked out of the room and was soon far ahead of me in the corridor. A nice girl, I said to myself. I will make friends with her. I hurried and caught up with her. Sometimes outlook does not mean anything about personality. 2.Original Poem I Hear The War I hear the rapid crackle of automatic gunfire in the darkness. It breaks the silent, and the cold mist. • 13. The Norman Blumberg Housing Project On May 3rd when I visited the site where the Norman Blumberg Housing Project once stood, the air was hauntingly peaceful. I had read about the notoriety of the site during my research, how over its existence it had become an area of concentrated poverty and crime, but on this day this urban setting was quiet and calm. On the two square city blocks where a complex of apartment buildings once ruled the landscape, only a single high rise remained among the unchecked wild grass. However, even in the peacefulness of this day in Sharswood, the looming presence of the infamous Norman Blumberg Apartments could still be felt. As a central part of this analysis, I will be discussing the role Blumberg Apartments played in the deterioration of Sharswood. I will also be evoking the Pruitt Igoe myth as Blumberg Apartments shares many similarities with the notorious Pruitt Igoe development. Finally, I will present and discuss the future transformation of Sharswood as detailed by the Sharswood Blumberg Neighborhood Transformation Plan. To judge the success or failure of Blumberg Apartments, we must first analyze the project as it works to provide good housing. Good housing should not just be regarded as a noun, it should also encompass housing as a verb. The commodity of the house as a shelter is the noun. This commodity should provide a place for redressing. It should hold the essential necessities that make for a comfortable and complete home. A place that balances privacy and social interactions. As a verb, good housing should be a utility that works to enhance one s life (Turner, 1972). It should be a stepping stone towards opportunity. For Blumberg Apartments in the grand scheme, both of these facets can be regarded as failures. As the housing projects suffered through massive deterioration, it failed as a commodity. Residents described how their housing had stairwells that reeked of urine and dirty diapers, constantly breaking appliances and elevators, and the frequent sounds of gunshots (Colaneri, 2016). Furthermore, units were found to not meet minimum size standards and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Guevara s recollections about the revolution provide important information about the challenges the rebels faced when they first landed in Cuba as well as the diverse roles the peasantry played during the insurgency. Also, Che illustrates why the Cuban army was unable to defeat the rebels and the advantages and limitations of waging guerrilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rebels had superior knowledge about the geography of the Sierra Maestra, which allowed them to stay off the army s radar until they were ready to attack. The insurgents also had significantly less combatants and inferior weapons than the army so the Sierra Maestra, with its numerous hiding places proved to be a perfect place to set up ambushes and made retreating easy. Another advantage of fighting in the Sierra Maestra was the harsh weather. The enemy soldiers were more concerned with the rain than with the possibility of an attack. The rain, cold and mosquitos demoralized the army troops who were not used to living in such harsh conditions. Also, Batista could never send his full army to crush the insurgency in the Sierra Maestra because doing so would leave the cities vulnerable to other rebel groups looking to overthrow him. However, waging guerilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra also had its limitations. The rebels had limited manpower and firearms while the army had thousands of soldiers and top notch weaponry provided by the United States. Guerilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra also limited the rebels ability to have influence in Havana where other rebel groups such as the Revolutionary Directorate operated. The neo noir movies Fight Club (1999) and Memento (2001) illustrate a reality, as seen by the protagonists. However, what exactly is reality? This issue is employed skilfully in both Fight Club and Memento, which makes them interesting to watch and analyse. The Usual Suspects, another neo noir film, also employs the issue reality in the narrative but, it differs from Fight Club and Memento, as reality is twisted by intention. This critical essay will take a look at the different causes for a distorted reality, how the protagonists receive reality, the use of narrative to create a distorted reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These twists lets one question everything that just happened. In Fight Club, the narrator finds out that Tyler Durden is not another men, but him. This changes the whole context. The audience has no idea that Tyler Durden is the narrator, as they are most likely captivated by his chaotic, sociopathic and masculine character. Once finding out the truth, one needs to rethink the entire film. Every scene has a different meaning once finding out that Tyler and the narrator are one. In Memento Leonard is confronted by Teddy a cop and his friend that Sammy Jankis the men Leonard often talks about is actually him. He tells Leonard that he has been lying to himself in order to be happy and that he is chasing a men who he believes is John G. Teddy furthermore suggests that actually has created a different reality in which he is chasing John G, in order to cope with the fact that his condition killed his wife. When Leonard later gets in his car and askes himself Do I lie to myself to be happy? (Memento, 2000), which he admits, a distortion in reality is justified by himself. He then makes Teddy the new John G, which changes the way the audience looks at Leonard. To conclude, both Fight Club and Memento use an unconventional narrative structure and tell thrilling stories. The movies enchant the viewers from the beginning with their absorbing storylines. The distortion of reality is created by protagonist with different views on reality, ... Although this novel is set in a manufacturing plant, the concepts and terms can be universally applied to a variety of organizations. Through the story of Alex Rogo, readers learn how common misconceptions about the operations of a business can be detrimental to the success of a firm; conversely, Goldratt illustrates how alternative approaches can revive a plant and help to achieve its ultimate goal. Thus, the term is redefined as the rate of generating money from sales so that there is a direct correlation between throughput and a company s goal; because selling a product generates money, the amount a company can manufacture during a certain amount of time is essentially the rate in which a company is able to start generating money through sales. Inventory is typically defined as stock that is held for the purposes of meeting future demand. Goldratt transforms the definition to incorporate the relationship between inventory and money. So, while traditional definitions classify inventory as stock to be sold, Goldratt reclassifies it as the money spent to buy the things that will be eventually sold. Operational expense is typically an expense that is incurred from regular business operations. The book s definition is quite similar to the traditional definition in that both categorizes an operational expense as money spent, but Goldratt further expands regular business operations as turning inventory to throughput. I find the book s definitions of throughput, inventory, and operational expense very useful. • 18. Analysis Of Katharine Kolcaba s Comfort Theory Comfort theory was created in the 1990 s by Katharine Kolcaba who was performing research on the analysis of comfort across many disciplines (Petiprin, 2016). From her research, she created a theory of nursing based upon three major forms of comfort that humans need to achieve wellness (Petiprin, 2016). They include: relief, ease and transcendence. Relief is the feeling obtained by patients as needs are being met (Petiprin, 2016). Ease is what patients feel when they are relaxed and have the sense of comfort that their needs have been met and they no longer need to feel anxious (Petiprin, 2016). Transcendence is the ability for patients to use their sense of comfort to rise above any struggles and conflicts they may be facing (Petiprin, 2016). Overall, Kolcaba defines her theory and comfort in general as the immediate state of being strengthened through having the human needs for relief, ease, and transcendence addressed in four contexts of experience (physical, psychospiritual, sociocultural, and environmental) (Kolcaba DiMarco, 2005). By using this theory in a hospital environment, Kolcaba hoped that comfort levels would be increased for all patients, staff and visitors and that patient health would improve as a result of this theory implementation (Boudiab Kolcaba, 2015). Courage, romanticism, charming beauty, and a willingness to defy society are four very prominent characteristics amongst heroes and contribute to today s notion of heroism. In order to decide if and to what extent any character lives up to the standards of heroism, one must search for these qualities. Huckleberry Finn, Daisy Miller, and Sister Carrie are three heroes from three different novels. It has already been decided that they are heroes. He knows that he has a big decision to make, declaring, ?I?d got to decide, forever, betwixt two things,? and he decides, ?All right, then, I?ll go to hell? (Twain 223). The fear of punishment is an obstacle that Huck overcomes, and on the other side stands courage. The mere fact that Huck is helping a runaway slave is courageous, but specific actions further prove Huck?s bravery. A choice example is when Huck takes the stolen money from the duke and king and returns it to the rightful owners (Twain 188 191). Another instance where the reader sees that spark of courage in Huck?s eyes is when, after boarding a wrecked, abandoned ferryboat and falling upon a few villains, Huck bravely takes matters into his own hands: ?But if we find their boat we can put all of ?em in a bad fix ? for the Sheriff ?ll get ?em. One of his goals was to measure the acceleration due to gravity, or the acceleration of freely falling objects. • 31. Vte Case Studies Treatment for non invasive VTE consists of three phases: initial phase, early maintenance phase and long term secondary prevention phase (Figure 2). Low molecular weight heparin, unfractionated heparin and fondaparinux are the keys of initial treatment for patients with DVT and PE. Heparin act by binding to the natural anticoagulant antithrombin, thereby consequently increasing the activation of thrombin by antithrombin and several others activated coagulation factors. Unfractionated heparin (UFH) is an immediate anticoagulant for patients of VTE which are clinically instable. Aim: The overall aim of this proposal is to synthesis a biocompatible nanocomplex which as an ability to pass through the BBB and specifically to treat GBM by sustained drug release. Then, to study the synergistic reinforced effect of two drugs and their resistance against fast clearance. Herein, we hypothesis, that our synthesized nanocomplex will have increased bioavailability of drugs, increased specificity for BBB and GBM, reduced drug side effects and finally, has targeted and sustained drug release. As illustrated in figure 1 the synthesized nanocomplex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The Comfort Of Strangers Essay The extract from Ian McEwan s novel The Comfort of Strangers tells the story of Robert and his distant relationship with his family. Robert, the narrator, revisits the time that his parents left him and his sisters home alone in his effort to see if his sisters did, in fact, hate him for telling on them. During their parents absence, Robert followed his sisters into their parents room and watched them play dress up with their mother s belongings. The extract follows a sequence of events: the first is dress up in the early afternoon, then, clean up in the late afternoon, followed by dinner. In this extract, Ian McEwan displays Robert s distant relationship with his sisters, father, and mother by demonstrating the unreliability of appearances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After an afternoon of playing in the empty house, Robert and his sisters sit down for dinner with their father in which Robert notes, I glanced up and he looked straight through my eyes, deep into my mind, (McEwan 21 22). McEwan uses hyperbole in describing how the father looked deep into [Robert s] mind , with the use of intrusive language adding to the notion of the father having immense, almost supernatural, power. Robert even refers to his father as God. McEwan demonstrates the father s power by contrasting the verbs glanced and looked . The verb glanced represents a timid and quick action which gives Robert less authority and power in this scene. On the other hand, looked represents a more authoritative and attention demanding action performed by the father, which causes a shift of tone and focus. The first part of the extract is all about the sisters, making Robert in some ways invisible, but now with the father looking directly at Robert, it brings the attention of the narrative away from Eva and Maria as Robert gets singled out for judgment. This change of focus creates a shift from the fun and lighthearted tone earlier on when the sisters were playing dress up to a more serious tone when introducing the father. After Robert s father looks deep into Robert s mind he asks, Tell me, Robert, what have you been doing this afternoon, (McEwan 23). As one of the three points of dialogue in the extract, the father s question creates a significant amount of distance between the children and him due to the formality in his tone. The father s decision to single out Robert from his sisters in the question serves not only to further isolate Robert but also display the father s wisdom and power. The father s knowledge of Robert s naïveté that leads Robert to think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Book of Revelation Essay This essay will argue that the eschatology of the Book of Revelation forms an integral part of John s attempt within the pages of his book to form a literary world in which the forms, figures, and forces of the earthly realm are critiqued and unmasked through the re focalization of existence from the perspective of heaven. It will attempt to show that, in response to the social, political, religious, and economic circumstances of his readers, the Book of Revelation forms a counter imaginative reality. Through drawing upon an inaugurated sense of eschatology and evocative imagery, John is able to pull the reader in and show them the true face of the imperial world and consequences of its ideology, forcing the reader allegiance to fall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter 5 of the Book of Revelation, we see Christ enter John s vision in the form of the slain lamb, a picture of Christ sacrifice (Rev 5:6). In the new song of the saints, the lamb is said to have ransom[ed] for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation (5:9) and, later in the chapter, that ...every creature in heaven and on earth... now sings praise to the lamb (5:13). These verses speak of God s victory already having been fulfilled in Christ s sacrifice in a way that leaves the reader with a vision of the eschatological hope of the Christian faith as being both fulfilled, but yet to be completed, a conception which falls within an inaugurated understanding of eschatology. As such, the end of the world in Revelation can be considered as having already occurred in Christ s death as evil was defeated and the New Creation initiated, while simultaneously not complete as the forces of Satan; the beast, the false prophet, and the harlot, still function in the cosmology of the First Creation. This understanding of the eschatological reality is an important aspect of John s text, as it is through this that he is able to identify the dangers to the Church as well as encourage and strengthen its faith. With this inaugurated conception of eschatology and the not yet aspect of it in which his readers must dwell, John perceived many threats to the Church, the most powerful one being ...
