Amy Poehler Yes Please
It s called Yes Please because it is the constant struggle and often the right answer, (Poehler, xix). Yes
Please, by Amy Poehler, is a nonfiction book depicting Amy Poehler s life and her view on how to do
life. Yes Please was published by William Morrow Publishers in New York, NY in 2014. This book
encompasses a wide range of topics from Poehler s career in comedy to how to treat yourself right.
Poehler makes many compelling statements, and tells rich stories about a variety of things throughout
her book. The first to stick out as important speaks on the tiny voice in our heads. This voice she
speaks of is ...a nicy whispery voice inside of us, but the bad ones are usually at a lower register and
come through a little clearer (Poehler, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This one is slightly harder to comprehend due to the indirectness surround it. This section is more
about doing than anything else. This can be seen when Amy is discussing her old group, UCB, motto
of don t think; she says Don t think. Get out of your head. Stop planning and just go, (Poehler, 196).
Farther into this section of Yes Please, Amy Poehler delves into careers verse passion and how to treat
each of them respectively if they aren t lucky enough to align. She truly inspires while expressing how
hard she had to work to get to the top. She made herself into who she is now because she figured out
who she wanted to be and she became it. A comedian is who Amy Poehler is so that is who she
became through her years of hard work waiting tables, and making connections, and learning, and
traveling to work and succeed. Poehler finds in all of this that ambivalence is key to success, with this
she states You have to care about your work but not about the result. You have to care about how good
you are and how good you feel, but not how good people think you are, or how good people think you
look, (Poehler, 223, 224). Throughout this section Amy reinforces to be who you are through

Rights of Nature
We must take care of our environment by continually educating our youth on natural selection and the
four laws of ecology, and supporting environmental movements that recognize the rights of nature.
Impacts of climate change are increasingly felt by Earth s inhabitants including us, humans. The
current warming, which is only one degree Celsius, has affected different ecological processes such as
species genetics, seasonal response, overall distribution, and even morphology (Hance). Species are
suddenly disappearing. A study conducted by PLOS Biology found that more than 450 plants and
animals have undergone local extinctions due to climate change (Hance). ... Show more content on

(Martin)
We still should maintain that the ecosystem consists of living species, which in their nature have the
right to evolve. Significantly, in 2008 Ecuador granted a statutory right on nature in which a
sustainable model of progress guarantees the conservation of biodiversity and the recovering capacity
of ecosystems.
For example, fish and other species in a river may be recognized as having the right to exist and
evolve (Martin). Ecologists are then pursuing legal protection of nature s right to evolve. This is an
appropriate response to Darwin s implications of natural selection. But why such law does not seize
the attention of the global audience?
Ecuador, Bolivia, and Argentina are the only countries, so far, which embrace the right of nature to
evolve (Laitos). Instead, we misuse natural resources which results in health issues and pollution
(Laitos). We also accelerate the nature s course to evolution through artificial selection or selective
breeding.
Artificial selection gets in the development of nature, which in turn produces lesser quality of a
species. As Darwin puts it: How fleeting are the wishes and efforts of man! , How short his time, and
consequently how poor will his products be, compared with those accumulated by nature during whole
geological periods. (Martin)
In other words, we weaken the art of nature. We selfishly only look at our own interest. Our own

The Romantic Periods
In the Romantic period a war and a battle took place, the era learned ways to spice up production, the
play Faust was created, and there were connections between the time period and the play itself. The
first war that took place was the French Revolution.
The French Revolution began in 1789 and lasted until 1799. There were three estates in France but
one of the estates was not being treated fairly so they decided to rebel. Finally, a Constitution was
made and everyone was happy. The battle of Valmy took place September 20, 1792. Two French
armies had some issues between themselves so of course the only way to resolve the problems was to
go to war. After a few days of fighting both sides decided to negotiate and eventually the fighting
ceased. In all the trauma that the war and battle cause though Goethe was able to find inspiration to
write his play called Faust . In order to understand Faust you had to understand the trauma inflicted on
the play s author by the French Revolution. (Kolonie) In order to deal with wars that were occurring
Goethe spilled his feelings into his writing. In the play Faust the Devil and God make a bet that the
Devil cannot make God s most promising scholar turn against him. The man ends up selling his soul
to the Devil but just when the Devil thought he won the bet angels came down to take the dead man s
soul up to Heaven. The author, Johan Wolfgang von Goethe, is known as the man most representative
in German literature. (Magil 733) He

What Are The Big Five Personality Traits
Aziz, S., Tronzo, C. L. (2011). EXPLORING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORKAHOLISM
FACETS AND PERSONALITY TRAITS: A REPLICATION IN AMERICAN WORKERS.
Psychological Record, 61(2), 269 285.
Over worked and ecstatic
This study was conducted in order to delve into the thought process that the five factor personality
traits are cohorts with workaholism traits. This study also concentrates on the three dimensions of a
workaholic and the effects it has on their personal lives. In this study several psychologists were trying
to prove that workaholism could be explained by using all aspects of the five factor personality model.
This study hypothesized all five personality traits of the big five method. The first hypothesis was

The third hypothesis was about the big five trait extraversion and the belief that the outgoing nature of
an extrovert will lead to a higher work drive. The fourth hypothesis was about agreeableness and the
happiness and joy that the trait is made from. The belief is that you will enjoy making people happy
that they will work harder in the workplace in order to create that goal. The fifth hypothesis is about
neuroticism and the many negative effects that the trait displays. A person who is high in neuroticism
have low job satisfaction and will not be overly enthusiastic about working. There were 202 people
who participated in this study. 40% were men and 60% were women. The results for table one found
that there were positive correlations found among all three facets of workaholism. There was also a
positive correlation with agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. There was
also a high negative correlation between work enjoyment and neuroticism. The results of this study
verified the results of the original study that was done in 2006. The results were as expected. The most

Caregiving And The Issues Surrounding Care
Caregiving and the issues surrounding care giving for the elderly have been well researched in the
fields of family sociology and gerontology. However, most of these accounts are based on the role
which children play in taking care of their parents. However, little has been said about the role of
grandchildren as a resource for ailing grandparents. The role grandparents play in raising
grandchildren is also well researched but the reverse has not been studied significantly. According to
Barusch s thesis caring for the frail elderly; family support, services and care management the role of
grandchildren as caregivers for grandparents is not entirely clear. The thesis claims that although
grandchildren are willing to give care to ill grandparents, they are more likely to receive aid than give
it. Moreover, the thesis claims that grandchildren might be more demanding than resourceful.
This paper will show that in the event of great need grandchildren may prove to be important
caregivers. It is universal that children take care of their parents in one way or another when they
reach old age; it is also universal that spouses take care of each other in old age. However, it seems
that caregiving for the elderly beyond the role of children depends on cultural contexts. In collectivist
cultures of Asia for instance, grandchildren and other extended family contribute heavily in taking
care of the elderly. In individualistic cultures of the West, caregiving roles are limited to the

Essay on Optimism and Personality Trait
Optimism could be considered a condition of the mind that makes one believe that the best things will
always happen to them. A common idiom used to illustrate optimism versus pessimism is a glass with
water at the halfway point, where the optimist is said to see the glass as half full, but the pessimist sees
the glass as half empty. Optimists tend to see adversity as temporary; more specifically they view the
obstacle as limited to the situation and not generalized.
1) How does the personality trait develop in humans? Where does it appear to come from? (20 pts)
According to Alan Carr, author of Positive Psychology: The Science of Happiness and Human
Strengths, the development of optimism may be determined by parental mental health, the ... Show

Parents also reinforce optimism and perseverance by encouraging their children to deal with any type
of obstacle in a positive way. Life is full of hurdles but it s the way we deal with these difficulties that
shape our expectations of things.
2) What purpose or function does the trait appear to serve? (20 pts)
Optimism can be a powerful tool to motivate people to do things that we might have reservations
about. Humans have the intellectual power to look ahead and anticipate any likely outcomes. In our
everyday lives we take on numerous tasks a throughout our live whether it is studying for finals,
starting a new project at work or starting a new diet. An article by Annie Paul in Psychology Today
gave the example of how even an ordinary effort like going on a diet can benefit from dose of
optimism. A review of dieting studies show that more than two thirds of dieters gain back more weight
than they initially thought. With such a grim outlook on dieting, optimism gives people the much
needed motivation to believe that their goal is achievable (Paul 2011). If you stopped and took a
minute to think about how much work you had to put in or how much of a risk you could be taking,
you might never even make the attempt. Optimism has such a commanding force that it has the ability
to convince you that things will work out just long enough to take the step forward and make an effort
to accomplish that task. For example, a student in medical school will put a tremendous amount

We need to reaffirm our position as a company delivering high quality products. One of our

some of the cities located in the same country but it totally different from each to other. It is different
in people behave, accent, and whether. However, my hometown Riyadh is very different from
Greensboro in United states. The three significant differences between them are size, weather, and
activity.
First, the important thing different between Riyadh and Greensboro is size. Riyadh is a big city and
population number was increasing every year. As a result, the Traffic sign sure will happen. In
addition, the distance between North and South is very long. For example, my home is in the north

Chronic Periodontitis And Its Effects On The Adults And...
Chronic periodontitis has been identified as the most prevalent form of periodontitis affecting the
adults and occasionally the adolescents and children.(Merin, 2015) This periodontal disease of
inflammatory origin is thought to be the result of host immune response against bacterial colonies in
the subgingival plaque.(Merin, 2015) In many cases, systemic and environmental factors play a
significant role in the disease progression. Common risk factors such as uncontrolled diabetes mellitus
and smoking, contribute to periodontal destruction in genetically susceptible individuals by modifying
the host s immune reactions towards periodontal pathogens. Clinically, the diagnosis of chronic
periodontitis is made based on the presence of supragingival and subgingival plaque and calculus,
signs of gingival inflammation, periodontal attachment loss and radiographic bone loss. Chronic
periodontitis can be further classified based on the extent and severity of periodontal destruction.
Localised chronic periodontitis is diagnosed when less than 30% of the sites are affected; whereas the
generalised form of the disease affects more than 30% of the sites. The severity of the disease is
determined by the amount of clinical attachment loss. It is classified as mild, moderate or severe when
1 2mm, 3 4mm or 5mm or more attachment loss is recorded respectively. (Merin, 2015) The treatment
of chronic periodontitis involves a sequence of therapeutic procedures, which is termed periodontal

The Reid Vs. Reid Essay
It may seem implausible that someone would confess to a crime they did not commit, but it does
happen, and the prevalence of such confessions occurs at a much higher rate in juvenile populations.
Aggressive interrogation methods, like those used in the Reid Technique, lead to a greater probability
of false confessions among juvenile subjects than if those techniques had not been used. In a study
completed by University of San Francisco law professor and renowned false confession researcher,
Richard Leo, 35% of the 125 proven false confession cases he sampled included confessors who were
under the age of 18 (2004). Before we examine what it is about this technique that prompts false
confessions, we must first outline the systematic, nine step process developed by John E. Reid
Associates nearly forty years ago.
The Reid Technique is the most widely adopted interrogation method used by branches of law
enforcement, the military, government entities, as well as private enterprises. To say that it is the
unchallenged gold standard would be an understatement, and understandably so. If the main goal of an
interrogation is to win a confession from the accused, then there is no greater tool. According to Reid s
own marketing propaganda, 95% Reid trained survey respondents indicated that their confession rate
improved when using the Reid Technique. More than half of them stated that their confession rate
increased by more than 25% and nearly a quarter of them said it increased by

Divorce Rate In America Essay
As America s divorce rate continues to skyrocket, it seems that morality continues to plummet.
Approximately sixty five percent of all marriages in America end in divorce, and this number does not
seem to be declining any time soon. Are we creating a new generation Y of single parents? Is a broken
home the wave of the future? If Americans don t get a grip on morality, this will surely be the case.
It is not possible to pinpoint exactly why America s divorce rate is so high, much higher than that of
previous decades. There are so many issues today that contribute to divorce than had existed in the
past. Take teen pregnancy, for instance. It is alarming that so many of ... Show more content on

And while many Americans claim to not practice or justify infidelity, it still remains the number one
cause of divorce (Treas 51). American s no longer have the fear of being shunned from society after a
messy divorce. When my mother s parents divorced in 1965, they had to leave their neighborhood.
The entire family was exiled from its catholic church where they were faithful members, and suddenly
my grandmother couldn t find a bridge partner in the entire town. I don t feel that couples who get
divorced should be treated as if they have the plague. On the other hand, our society s nonchalant
acceptance of divorce makes it seem as if marriage is not meant to be a permanent situation for most.
Many more couples live together prior to marriage than in the past (an approximate increase of more
than 60%) and these couples are less likely to stay married, probably due to the fact that they are less
conservative about marriage and divorce in the first place (Stanley 57). It is this less conservative
approach that dooms America s marital future.
Another contributing factor in today s divorce rate is simply a lack of respect for marriage vows. They
seem to be taken with a grain of salt. No one remembers saying for better or worse , instead they hear,
he/she will do until something better comes along, until he/she strays, until his/her ex comes looking

Disadvantages Of Wireless Technology
No doubt, in last few decades technologies involved in the communication systems have been
developed exponentially along with attractive features and facilities. Wireless communication system
is one of the biggest inventions of the century and its developments can be processed in different terms
of generation having approx. 10 years for each one. At every step of each generation is to provide to
link with persons at every corner of globe with set of quality services. Today we are in Fourth
Generation; it is categorized based on its characteristic services and features like transmission signals,
data transmission rate, bandwidth frequency and nature of the services provided. First generation (1G)

used analog signals, circuit switching and FDMA with 30 kHz channels occupying the 824MHz
894MHz frequency band .First generation supports only voice transmission .The data was not reliable;
there were interrupted communication and few other problems in First Generation [1]. Second
Generation (2G) technology was established in 1990, which used digital signals for transmission and
two digital modulation schemes TDMA and CDMA with circuit switched network . Second
Generation uses the existing radio spectrum to provide the services. It was developed to overcome the
previous generation s drawbacks, and to have data and voice transmission. But this generation also has

Abc Costing Essay
ABC Costing
Activity based costing (ABC) is a special costing model that identifies activities in an organization
and assigns the cost of each activity with resources to all products and services according to the actual
consumption by each. This model assigns more indirect costs (overhead) into direct costs compared to
conventional costing models.
Aims of model With ABC, an organization can soundly estimate the cost elements of entire products
and services. That may prepare decisions on either identify and eliminate those products and services

aim) or identify and eliminate production or service processes that are ineffective ... Show more

Once costs of the activities have been identified, the cost of each activity is attributed to each product
to the extent that the product uses the activity. In this way ABC often identifies areas of high overhead
costs per unit and so directs attention to finding ways to reduce the costs or to charge more for costly
products. Activity based costing was first clearly defined in 1987 by Robert S. Kaplan and W. Bruns
as a chapter in their book Accounting and Management: A Field Study Perspective.[6] They initially
focused on manufacturing industry where increasing technology and productivity improvements have
reduced the relative proportion of the direct costs of labor and materials, but have increased relative
proportion of indirect costs. For example, increased automation has reduced labor, which is a direct
cost, but has increased depreciation, which is an indirect cost. Like manufacturing industries, financial
institutions have diverse products and customers, which can cause cross product, cross customer
subsidies. Since personnel expenses represent the largest single component of non interest expense in
financial institutions, these costs must also be attributed more accurately to products and customers.
Activity based costing, even though originally developed for manufacturing, may even be a more
useful tool for doing this.[7][8] Activity based costing was later explained in 1999 by Peter F.

Lord Of The Flies Ego Superego Analysis
In every human being, a constant battle is occurring between two very diverse consciences. William
Golding portrayed this battle through his novel, Lord of the Flies, and with Sigmund Freud s
psychoanalysis theories of ID, Ego, and Superego. ID usually delineates the avarice and guile side of
the soul. Superego, however, represents the euphonious and benign voice of the soul. The Ego is a
balance of the two and is gullible to the forces of both voices. Golding uses these three forces to show
that without the pureness of the conscience, human spirit is innately evil and corruptible. Thus,
Golding uses Freud s ID, Ego, and Superego to demonstrate the overall theme of the flexibility of the
human spirit towards evil through Jack s recklessness, Ralph s sense of balance, and Simon s cherubic
attitude.
The character of Jack symbolizes the ID side of the soul because of his recklessness through his
obsession with hunting and fun on the island. His obsession started when he felt the power from
killing his first pig, He noticed blood on his hands and grimaced distastefully, looked for something on
which to clean them, then wiped them on his shorts and laughed ... We ll go hunting every day
(Golding 69/70). This quote shows that when the ID receives power, it will take full advantage of it
and will enjoy it, just like Jack did when he saw the blood from the pig. This quote also shows that
how the ID treats everything as a game and something to laugh at, which is exactly what Jack

her thoughts. The thing is Jacqueline Laurita recently said that Danielle tried to get on Season 7 of the
show, and it didn t work out for her. Now Danielle is admitting that this is true, but makes it sound like
it wasn t about if Bravo wanted her or not, but was more about if the timing was right with what else is
going on in her life. Danielle shared saying that she has been talking to Bravo. Here are the details. I

She wanted to make sure that both of her daughters had already graduated, which will happen at this
time. Bethenny liked her daughters having a normal life. Now that Danielle s daughters are older it
will be up to them if they let the cameras in on her life. Now if she returns to the show it will be totally
up to the girls if they are part of the show or not. As Radar Online shared recently, Danielle and
Jacqueline have also been feuding on social networks. It doesn t look like these two are getting along
and the idea of them on the show again together means a ton of drama. They were friends on the first
season, but on the second season, Danielle and Jacqueline were already not getting along with each
other. Are you shocked to hear that Danielle Staub is hoping to come back to The Real Housewives of
New Jersey for Season 8? Do you think that Andy Cohen and Bravo will invite her back again? Sound

Taking a Closer Lookt at Our Auditory System Essays
Hello, again. In this section we are going to have a closer look on our auditory system, so as to
understand its basic function. Why should we learn about that? Because as listeners, we owe to know
some basic things about this magnificent human mechanism. Our auditory system is one of our gates
to the outer world. It helps us pick up sound stimuli from our environment, transduce these stimuli
into neural impulses and finally, carry these impulses to specific locations in the brain. In fact, its
basic function, if we could summarize that, is the transduction of mechanical energy (that is, those
sound vibrations in the air) into electrical energy (electrical pulses in the brain).
Now... When we say mechanical energy we mean a sound wave ... Show more content on

This pinna is more or less oval shaped, flexible and can vary in size. Due to the fact that there are only
few muscles in the area of the external ear, humans need to turn their heads towards the sound source
location, in order to achieve a more accurate detection of the position of this sound source. As far as
the middle ear is concerned, its purpose is to transform the energy of a sound wave into internal
vibrations, which take place in the bone structure of the middle ear and ultimately transform these
vibrations into a compressional wave, which will be received by the inner ear. The middle ear could be
described as an air filled cavity that consists of the eardrum and 3 tiny interconnected bones (in fact,
they re the smallest bones of our body), the well known the hammer, anvil, and stirrup, which serve to
amplify the vibrations. What actually happens there, is that the compression of the sound wave forces
the eardrum inward, while a rarefaction forces the eardrum outward, thus vibrating the eardrum at the
same frequency of the sound wave. After the eardrum s vibrations are passed through the middle ear
bones, they go on to the cochlea. Basically, the movements of the eardrum are connected to the
hammer and as a result, those movements set the hammer, anvil and stirrup in motion, at the same
frequency of the sound wave, as we said

The Physical Activity Guidelines For Americans ( U.s....
One thousand, four hundred forty this is the number minutes everyone is given to spend as they so
choose each day. Some may wonder how best to spend this time to not only fulfill God given purposes
but also to ensure a long healthy life that can be enjoyed with loved ones. Most people realize the
importance of eating a well balanced, nutritious diet and drinking plenty of water to be healthy.
However, when it comes to exercise, opinions vary on what is best. Many doctors urge patients to
simply walk more, however, an equivalent amount of time spent performing some form of resistance
training versus walking may be the superior choice. Resistance (or strength) training improves a
person s overall health, enhances their quality of life, and can increase life expectancy.
According to the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans (U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, 2008), which is a publication explaining the current recommendation for physical
activity by the US government, adults should perform a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate
intensity aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week along with muscle
strengthening activities on 2 or more days per week (p. 22). While it is admirable that strength training
is included in these recommendations, it does not receive near as much emphasis as aerobic activity.
When most people think of resistance training, they think of the dangers or injuries that could be
incurred from weightlifting; however,

Ibsen s Hedda Gabler Essay
Ibsen s Hedda Gabler portrays the societal roles of gender and sex through Hedda as a character trying
to break the status quo of gender relations within the Victorian era. The social conditions and
principles that Ibsen presents in Hedda Gabler are of crucial importance as they constitute the molding
and tempering forces which dictate the behavior of all the play s characters with each character part of
a tightly woven social fabric (Kildahl). Hedda is an example of perverted femininity in a depraved
society intent on sacrificing to its own self interest and the freedom and individual expression of its
members. It portrays Nineteenth Century unequal relationship problems between the sexes, with men
being the independent factor and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no focus on Hedda s mother we can imagine that the general did little to prepare his daughter for
wifehood or motherhood. Hedda inherited his pride, coldness, and an authoritative attitude toward
others of a lower rank. She lacks compassion for weak and submissive characters like Thea and Aunt
Julia but has admiration for power and freedom, qualities she finds in Brack and Lövborg. Even after
marrying Tesman, she keeps her father s portrait and guns, which signifies her desire for masculine
control as well as her personal form of mourning of the power she has lost by marrying Tesman. This
perverse behavior can be attributed greatly to the era in which Hedda lives, because her choices are
highly influenced by the male dominated society. Hedda tears down everyone throughout the play,
with Lövborg and Brack as the only exception. After being born to a high standing family, her
expectations of power are high, but due to her biologic form as a woman she is trapped and unable to
take control, because Hedda has been imprisoned since girlhood by the bars of Victorian propriety, her
emotional life has grown turbulent and explosive (Embler). However, after succumbing to marriage
with Tesman, whom she only marries for money and respect, she loses her place in society as she, as a
mere woman, cannot retain it. This slowly unwinds Hedda and eventually leads her on to her fatal
path. By

Analysis Of Thomas Hardy s Of The D
Author Thomas Hardy is typically distinguished for following a trend in which all his fiction is
characterized by chance being the incarnation of the blind forces controlling human destiny. As J
Clipper once said, Hardy reflected Nietzsche s agonized cry that God is dead , in his novels. His view
of life was that since there is no God to give meaning to life, Man is alone in the Universe, no better
and no worse than other creatures who live or have lived for a brief moment on this speck called
Earth. The Universe and fate is essentially malevolent and benevolent. Hardy believes that God,
whether he once was once a presence or not, has disappeared entirely from the world. People are left
to defend themselves and cope in a society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tess is exposed to the cruelty of fate from the moment that God places her into the Durbyfield family.
Born into a poverty stricken and uneducated family, she is subject to the hardships that that entails.
Her Father an alcoholic and her Mother less of a woman than she is herself, her upbringing already
sets her apart from the rest of the world, and she recognizes her underprivileged condition. Did you
say the stars were worlds, Tess? Yes. All like ours? I don t know, but I think so. They sometimes seem
to be like the apples on our stubbard tree. Most of them splendid and sound a few blighted. Which do
we live on a Splendid one or a blighted one? A blighted one. (Hardy 54) Tess is raised in an
environment that encourages a belief in a kind of predetermination and fatality, demonstrated by the
fact that her mother often consults the complete fortune teller, an old book of astrological guidance.
Tess however has been educated, and thus does not subscribe to the same beliefs that her mother does.
In a similar way, Hardy uses Tess s father John Durbyfield to illustrate the power of fate to change one
s life. In chapter one, when John is told of the nobility that exists in their bloodline, he believes that
their life will soon be catastrophically changed. Don t you really know, Durbyfield, that you are the
lineal representative of the

ET Online shared that Killing Fields is set to be the next true crime show that is a hit. This comes after
The Jinx and Making A Murderer did so great with ratings so it is perfect timing for Discovery to
come out with this kind of series. This show will open up a case that is the murder of Louisiana State

book is about Louisiana serial killer Derrick Todd Lee, who has been linked to the murder of five

there is a lot of speculation that he could be involved. He was working in the area where her killing

Asian Culture and Healthcare
I have found the Asian culture on heal care to be very interesting. It is not just about too many white
body blood cells in your blood stream. It is more about balance. They believe the mind and body
working together, in harmony and a balanced state. They use a practice called Ying and yang which is
hot and cold. The use of natural plants for treatment of illness is common practice in Asian culture.
Good nutrition plays a big part is their health. A diet mostly fish and vegetables is the healthy choice
in their culture. Some of the practices for therapy include acupuncture, and coin rolling. The belief
that anything is excess is bad and is one of the ways the Asian culture remain balanced and healthy.
Acupuncture focuses on points on the body to activate natural healing and to balance the body. The
practice of acupuncture covers 306 fixed points of the body. The practitioner uses nine needles placed
in specific point on the body to release yin (cold) or yang (heat) and create a balance between the two.
The treatment can range from cancer, arthritis, or the common cold but, is mainly used for treatment
of pain relief. There is also qi and chi which is the flow of energy throughout the body which is
something like yin and yang it is all about a balance in the body for healing and good health. Too
much on one will create an unbalance in the energy flow in the body and will require treatment of the
use of yin and yang principles.

Monohybrid and Dihybrid Inheritance
GREGOR MENDEL
Gregor Johann Mendel Moravian scientist who become known as the founder of the modern science
of genetics. He conducted pea plant experiments between 1856 and 1863 through which he established
many of the rules of heredity, now referred to as the laws of Mendelian inheritance.
Mendel s Law of Inheritance:
This law involves inheritance of biological features. In 1915 Mendel s theories were integrated with
the Boveri Sutton chromosome theory of inheritance by Thomas Hunt Morgan and they became the
core of classical genetics. Then in 1930 Ronald Fisher combined them with the theory of natural
selection in his book The Genetical Theory of Natural Selection, this put evolution onto ... Show more

Law of Independent Assortment
The Law of Independent Assortment states that alleles for separate traits are passed from parents to
offspring independently from each other. Proof of this principle was achieved through dihybrid and
monohybrid cross experiments. Independent assortment occurs in eukaryotic organisms during
meiotic metaphase I, and produces a gamete with a mixture of the organism s chromosomes. The
physical basis of the independent assortment of chromosomes is the random orientation of each
bivalent chromosome along the metaphase plate with respect to the other bivalent chromosomes.
Along with crossing over, independent assortment increases genetic diversity by producing many
genetic combinations.
Law of Dominance
Mendel s Law of Dominance states that recessive alleles will always be masked by dominant alleles.
This means a cross between a homozygous dominant and a homozygous recessive will always express
the dominant phenotype whilst still having a heterozygous genotype. Proof of this principle was
achieved using a mono hybrid cross experiment: In a cross between two organisms of contrasting
traits the trait that is expressed is called dominant and the trait that is suppressed is called recessive.
Dominance and Co dominance
Dominance and co dominance was discovered by Gregor Mendel when he found that if two parents
with different variations of a similar trait were cross bred, the offspring would only display one of
these

Benefits Of Mao Zedong
As a result of the civil war in 1927 to 1950, the Communist Party gained political control over China
and defeated the opposing Nationalist Party. This essay will examine and analyze the benefits of Mao
Zedong s leadership of the Communist Party throughout the civil war, such as his influence over the
military and the Chinese people. There is no doubt, however, that other factors such as the opposing
Nationalists corruption, military tactics and relationship with the people all played an even greater role
in ensuring the victory of the Communist Party. It will be argued that while the leadership of Mao
Zedong was a large part of the Communist Party s victory, the failures of Chiang Kaishek s leadership
were crucial to the success of the Communists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Chiang s military mistakes, corruption and incompetence fed the evaporation of the Nationalists
civilian support, and the treatment of the local people was terrible. He refused to undertake land

being a government of the people, to a government of the middle and higher class. He drew support
from the landlords and merchants, and depended on the tax revenue and donations from the small

Rocking Horse Winner Analysis
Lucky Winner
(An Analysis of the Story Rocking Horse)
Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you, say what you ve got to say,
and say it hot (Lawrence). In 1926 D.H lawrence wrote one of his most famous stories, Rocking Horse
Winner. This story is about a boy who gambles to make money that will make his mom happy. He
ends up getting addicted to gambling, and this addiction ended up being extremely fatal to the boy. In
life we go to the extreme to make the ones we love around us happy just like this little boy in the story
did. This story betrays many important messages, three of the messages presented by D.H Lawrence
are, economic problems, luck and unluck, and raising a child without damaging them.
In Rocking Horse Winner Lawrence brings up some questions about economics. In the story the little
boys mother tells her son that they aren t lucky because they don t have any money. Even though the
family has money they don t have enough for how they are choosing to live. To their family money
matters. Money is essential for living, but insufficient for striving (Tatzel). This quote states that
money indeed is important to survive but you don t need a lot, just enough to get you by. In the story
the mom wants more. She is never happy with how much she has, because she doesn t have enough.
In the story children hear the house speaking to them saying there must be more money (pg.1248).
This is proving that there are economic questions a rising. The

The Discovery Of Non Euclidean Geometry
IaOng Moua
Professor McLeod
Math 451: Axiomatic Geometry
Research Paper
12/13/16
History of Hyperbolic Geometry The discovery of non Euclidean geometry is credited to nineteenth
century mathematicians Carl Friedrich Gauss, Nikolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky, and János Bolyai
because they are first to recognize that the negation of Euclid s Fifth Postulate as an axiom produced
another geometry that was as rich and solid as that of Euclidean geometry (Venema, 2012). However,
several concepts of Hyperbolic geometry were already known by that time, it just was not labeled as
Hyperbolic geometry (or non Euclidean geometry) because Hyperbolic geometry was not yet
discovered . Euclid s work was so distinguished that it was accepted as the standard so people did not
think it was possible for other geometries to exist. All in all, the discovery and growth of Hyperbolic
geometry first began with several mathematicians trying to prove that Euclid s Fifth Postulate could be
eliminated as an axiom.
Before the Recognition of Hyperbolic Geometry as a Geometry Geometry first originated as a way to
solve problems in architecture and navigation. A famous figure in geometry is Euclid. Around 300 BC,
he published a book, The Elements, which contained definitions, axioms, and postulates that would be
regarded as a standard of mathematical reasoning for the next two thousand years (Mueller, 1969).
Euclid basically gave the foundation of what is now called Euclidean geometry. However,

Income Inequality In Australia Essay
Income inequality in Australia is a growing phenomenon. While Australia remains one of the
wealthiest nations in the world and has seen income growth across all strata of society, income
inequality has also risen in tandem (Greenville, Poke Rogers, 2013, pp. 4 5). The Gini coefficient for
Australia, an indicator of national income distribution where 0 represents perfect equality and 1
representing complete inequality, has gone up from 0.35 in 1988 89 to 0.41 in 2009 10 (Greenville,
Poke Rogers, 2013, p. 7). The Australia Institute (Richardson Denniss, 2014, pp. 2, 8) cites the failure

  • 2. Amy Poehler Yes Please It s called Yes Please because it is the constant struggle and often the right answer, (Poehler, xix). Yes Please, by Amy Poehler, is a nonfiction book depicting Amy Poehler s life and her view on how to do life. Yes Please was published by William Morrow Publishers in New York, NY in 2014. This book encompasses a wide range of topics from Poehler s career in comedy to how to treat yourself right. Poehler makes many compelling statements, and tells rich stories about a variety of things throughout her book. The first to stick out as important speaks on the tiny voice in our heads. This voice she speaks of is ...a nicy whispery voice inside of us, but the bad ones are usually at a lower register and come through a little clearer (Poehler, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This one is slightly harder to comprehend due to the indirectness surround it. This section is more about doing than anything else. This can be seen when Amy is discussing her old group, UCB, motto of don t think; she says Don t think. Get out of your head. Stop planning and just go, (Poehler, 196). Farther into this section of Yes Please, Amy Poehler delves into careers verse passion and how to treat each of them respectively if they aren t lucky enough to align. She truly inspires while expressing how hard she had to work to get to the top. She made herself into who she is now because she figured out who she wanted to be and she became it. A comedian is who Amy Poehler is so that is who she became through her years of hard work waiting tables, and making connections, and learning, and traveling to work and succeed. Poehler finds in all of this that ambivalence is key to success, with this she states You have to care about your work but not about the result. You have to care about how good you are and how good you feel, but not how good people think you are, or how good people think you look, (Poehler, 223, 224). Throughout this section Amy reinforces to be who you are through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Rights Of Nature Cedric Quintana Prof Cassidy Litle Eng 122 008 July 15, 2017 Rights of Nature We must take care of our environment by continually educating our youth on natural selection and the four laws of ecology, and supporting environmental movements that recognize the rights of nature. Impacts of climate change are increasingly felt by Earth s inhabitants including us, humans. The current warming, which is only one degree Celsius, has affected different ecological processes such as species genetics, seasonal response, overall distribution, and even morphology (Hance). Species are suddenly disappearing. A study conducted by PLOS Biology found that more than 450 plants and animals have undergone local extinctions due to climate change (Hance). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Martin) We still should maintain that the ecosystem consists of living species, which in their nature have the right to evolve. Significantly, in 2008 Ecuador granted a statutory right on nature in which a sustainable model of progress guarantees the conservation of biodiversity and the recovering capacity of ecosystems. For example, fish and other species in a river may be recognized as having the right to exist and evolve (Martin). Ecologists are then pursuing legal protection of nature s right to evolve. This is an appropriate response to Darwin s implications of natural selection. But why such law does not seize the attention of the global audience? Ecuador, Bolivia, and Argentina are the only countries, so far, which embrace the right of nature to evolve (Laitos). Instead, we misuse natural resources which results in health issues and pollution (Laitos). We also accelerate the nature s course to evolution through artificial selection or selective breeding. Artificial selection gets in the development of nature, which in turn produces lesser quality of a species. As Darwin puts it: How fleeting are the wishes and efforts of man! , How short his time, and consequently how poor will his products be, compared with those accumulated by nature during whole geological periods. (Martin) In other words, we weaken the art of nature. We selfishly only look at our own interest. Our own

The Romantic Periods In the Romantic period a war and a battle took place, the era learned ways to spice up production, the play Faust was created, and there were connections between the time period and the play itself. The first war that took place was the French Revolution. The French Revolution began in 1789 and lasted until 1799. There were three estates in France but one of the estates was not being treated fairly so they decided to rebel. Finally, a Constitution was made and everyone was happy. The battle of Valmy took place September 20, 1792. Two French armies had some issues between themselves so of course the only way to resolve the problems was to go to war. After a few days of fighting both sides decided to negotiate and eventually the fighting ceased. In all the trauma that the war and battle cause though Goethe was able to find inspiration to write his play called Faust . In order to understand Faust you had to understand the trauma inflicted on the play s author by the French Revolution. (Kolonie) In order to deal with wars that were occurring Goethe spilled his feelings into his writing. In the play Faust the Devil and God make a bet that the Devil cannot make God s most promising scholar turn against him. The man ends up selling his soul to the Devil but just when the Devil thought he won the bet angels came down to take the dead man s soul up to Heaven. • 7. Caregiving And The Issues Surrounding Care Caregiving and the issues surrounding care giving for the elderly have been well researched in the fields of family sociology and gerontology. However, most of these accounts are based on the role which children play in taking care of their parents. However, little has been said about the role of grandchildren as a resource for ailing grandparents. The role grandparents play in raising grandchildren is also well researched but the reverse has not been studied significantly. According to Barusch s thesis caring for the frail elderly; family support, services and care management the role of grandchildren as caregivers for grandparents is not entirely clear. The thesis claims that although grandchildren are willing to give care to ill grandparents, they are more likely to receive aid than give it. Moreover, the thesis claims that grandchildren might be more demanding than resourceful. This paper will show that in the event of great need grandchildren may prove to be important caregivers. It is universal that children take care of their parents in one way or another when they reach old age; it is also universal that spouses take care of each other in old age. However, it seems that caregiving for the elderly beyond the role of children depends on cultural contexts. In collectivist cultures of Asia for instance, grandchildren and other extended family contribute heavily in taking care of the elderly. In individualistic cultures of the West, caregiving roles are limited to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A common idiom used to illustrate optimism versus pessimism is a glass with water at the halfway point, where the optimist is said to see the glass as half full, but the pessimist sees the glass as half empty. Optimists tend to see adversity as temporary; more specifically they view the obstacle as limited to the situation and not generalized. 1) How does the personality trait develop in humans? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents also reinforce optimism and perseverance by encouraging their children to deal with any type of obstacle in a positive way. Life is full of hurdles but it s the way we deal with these difficulties that shape our expectations of things. 2) What purpose or function does the trait appear to serve? (20 pts) Optimism can be a powerful tool to motivate people to do things that we might have reservations about. Humans have the intellectual power to look ahead and anticipate any likely outcomes. In our everyday lives we take on numerous tasks a throughout our live whether it is studying for finals, starting a new project at work or starting a new diet. An article by Annie Paul in Psychology Today gave the example of how even an ordinary effort like going on a diet can benefit from dose of optimism. A review of dieting studies show that more than two thirds of dieters gain back more weight than they initially thought. With such a grim outlook on dieting, optimism gives people the much needed motivation to believe that their goal is achievable (Paul 2011). If you stopped and took a minute to think about how much work you had to put in or how much of a risk you could be taking, you might never even make the attempt. Optimism has such a commanding force that it has the ability to convince you that things will work out just long enough to take the step forward and make an effort to accomplish that task. My mom has always had a thorough obsession with the Star Wars films, this is probably directly related to the fact that the original film was the first movie she ever saw in theater. Thus, I was raised on intergalactic comparisons and plastic light saber battles. • 16. Chronic Periodontitis And Its Effects On The Adults And... Chronic periodontitis has been identified as the most prevalent form of periodontitis affecting the adults and occasionally the adolescents and children.(Merin, 2015) This periodontal disease of inflammatory origin is thought to be the result of host immune response against bacterial colonies in the subgingival plaque.(Merin, 2015) In many cases, systemic and environmental factors play a significant role in the disease progression. Common risk factors such as uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and smoking, contribute to periodontal destruction in genetically susceptible individuals by modifying the host s immune reactions towards periodontal pathogens. Clinically, the diagnosis of chronic periodontitis is made based on the presence of supragingival and subgingival plaque and calculus, signs of gingival inflammation, periodontal attachment loss and radiographic bone loss. Chronic periodontitis can be further classified based on the extent and severity of periodontal destruction. Localised chronic periodontitis is diagnosed when less than 30% of the sites are affected; whereas the generalised form of the disease affects more than 30% of the sites. The severity of the disease is determined by the amount of clinical attachment loss. It is classified as mild, moderate or severe when 1 2mm, 3 4mm or 5mm or more attachment loss is recorded respectively. (Merin, 2015) The treatment of chronic periodontitis involves a sequence of therapeutic procedures, which is termed periodontal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Reid Vs. Reid Essay It may seem implausible that someone would confess to a crime they did not commit, but it does happen, and the prevalence of such confessions occurs at a much higher rate in juvenile populations. Aggressive interrogation methods, like those used in the Reid Technique, lead to a greater probability of false confessions among juvenile subjects than if those techniques had not been used. In a study completed by University of San Francisco law professor and renowned false confession researcher, Richard Leo, 35% of the 125 proven false confession cases he sampled included confessors who were under the age of 18 (2004). Before we examine what it is about this technique that prompts false confessions, we must first outline the systematic, nine step process developed by John E. Reid Associates nearly forty years ago. The Reid Technique is the most widely adopted interrogation method used by branches of law enforcement, the military, government entities, as well as private enterprises. To say that it is the unchallenged gold standard would be an understatement, and understandably so. If the main goal of an interrogation is to win a confession from the accused, then there is no greater tool. According to Reid s own marketing propaganda, 95% Reid trained survey respondents indicated that their confession rate improved when using the Reid Technique. More than half of them stated that their confession rate increased by more than 25% and nearly a quarter of them said it increased by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is a broken home the wave of the future? If Americans don t get a grip on morality, this will surely be the case. And while many Americans claim to not practice or justify infidelity, it still remains the number one cause of divorce (Treas 51). American s no longer have the fear of being shunned from society after a messy divorce. When my mother s parents divorced in 1965, they had to leave their neighborhood. The entire family was exiled from its catholic church where they were faithful members, and suddenly my grandmother couldn t find a bridge partner in the entire town. I don t feel that couples who get divorced should be treated as if they have the plague. On the other hand, our society s nonchalant acceptance of divorce makes it seem as if marriage is not meant to be a permanent situation for most. Many more couples live together prior to marriage than in the past (an approximate increase of more than 60%) and these couples are less likely to stay married, probably due to the fact that they are less conservative about marriage and divorce in the first place (Stanley 57). It is this less conservative approach that dooms America s marital future. Another contributing factor in today s divorce rate is simply a lack of respect for marriage vows. In this way ABC often identifies areas of high overhead costs per unit and so directs attention to finding ways to reduce the costs or to charge more for costly products. Activity based costing was first clearly defined in 1987 by Robert S. Kaplan and W. Bruns as a chapter in their book Accounting and Management: A Field Study Perspective.[6] They initially focused on manufacturing industry where increasing technology and productivity improvements have reduced the relative proportion of the direct costs of labor and materials, but have increased relative proportion of indirect costs. For example, increased automation has reduced labor, which is a direct cost, but has increased depreciation, which is an indirect cost. Like manufacturing industries, financial institutions have diverse products and customers, which can cause cross product, cross customer subsidies. Since personnel expenses represent the largest single component of non interest expense in financial institutions, these costs must also be attributed more accurately to products and customers. Activity based costing, even though originally developed for manufacturing, may even be a more useful tool for doing this.[7][8] Activity based costing was later explained in 1999 by Peter F. ... • 21. Lord Of The Flies Ego Superego Analysis In every human being, a constant battle is occurring between two very diverse consciences. William Golding portrayed this battle through his novel, Lord of the Flies, and with Sigmund Freud s psychoanalysis theories of ID, Ego, and Superego. ID usually delineates the avarice and guile side of the soul. Superego, however, represents the euphonious and benign voice of the soul. The Ego is a balance of the two and is gullible to the forces of both voices. Golding uses these three forces to show that without the pureness of the conscience, human spirit is innately evil and corruptible. Thus, Golding uses Freud s ID, Ego, and Superego to demonstrate the overall theme of the flexibility of the human spirit towards evil through Jack s recklessness, Ralph s sense of balance, and Simon s cherubic attitude. The character of Jack symbolizes the ID side of the soul because of his recklessness through his obsession with hunting and fun on the island. His obsession started when he felt the power from killing his first pig, He noticed blood on his hands and grimaced distastefully, looked for something on which to clean them, then wiped them on his shorts and laughed ... • 24. Taking a Closer Lookt at Our Auditory System Essays Hello, again. In this section we are going to have a closer look on our auditory system, so as to understand its basic function. Why should we learn about that? Because as listeners, we owe to know some basic things about this magnificent human mechanism. Our auditory system is one of our gates to the outer world. It helps us pick up sound stimuli from our environment, transduce these stimuli into neural impulses and finally, carry these impulses to specific locations in the brain. In fact, its basic function, if we could summarize that, is the transduction of mechanical energy (that is, those sound vibrations in the air) into electrical energy (electrical pulses in the brain). Due to the fact that there are only few muscles in the area of the external ear, humans need to turn their heads towards the sound source location, in order to achieve a more accurate detection of the position of this sound source. As far as the middle ear is concerned, its purpose is to transform the energy of a sound wave into internal vibrations, which take place in the bone structure of the middle ear and ultimately transform these vibrations into a compressional wave, which will be received by the inner ear. The middle ear could be described as an air filled cavity that consists of the eardrum and 3 tiny interconnected bones (in fact, they re the smallest bones of our body), the well known the hammer, anvil, and stirrup, which serve to amplify the vibrations. What actually happens there, is that the compression of the sound wave forces the eardrum inward, while a rarefaction forces the eardrum outward, thus vibrating the eardrum at the same frequency of the sound wave. After the eardrum s vibrations are passed through the middle ear bones, they go on to the cochlea. Basically, the movements of the eardrum are connected to the hammer and as a result, those movements set the hammer, anvil and stirrup in motion, at the same frequency of the sound wave, as we said ... Some may wonder how best to spend this time to not only fulfill God given purposes but also to ensure a long healthy life that can be enjoyed with loved ones. Most people realize the importance of eating a well balanced, nutritious diet and drinking plenty of water to be healthy. However, when it comes to exercise, opinions vary on what is best. Even after marrying Tesman, she keeps her father s portrait and guns, which signifies her desire for masculine control as well as her personal form of mourning of the power she has lost by marrying Tesman. Proof of this principle was achieved through dihybrid and monohybrid cross experiments. Independent assortment occurs in eukaryotic organisms during meiotic metaphase I, and produces a gamete with a mixture of the organism s chromosomes. The physical basis of the independent assortment of chromosomes is the random orientation of each bivalent chromosome along the metaphase plate with respect to the other bivalent chromosomes. Along with crossing over, independent assortment increases genetic diversity by producing many genetic combinations. • 34. Rocking Horse Winner Analysis Lucky Winner (An Analysis of the Story Rocking Horse) Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you, say what you ve got to say, and say it hot (Lawrence). In 1926 D.H lawrence wrote one of his most famous stories, Rocking Horse Winner. This story is about a boy who gambles to make money that will make his mom happy. He ends up getting addicted to gambling, and this addiction ended up being extremely fatal to the boy. In life we go to the extreme to make the ones we love around us happy just like this little boy in the story did. This story betrays many important messages, three of the messages presented by D.H Lawrence are, economic problems, luck and unluck, and raising a child without damaging them. In Rocking Horse Winner Lawrence brings up some questions about economics. In the story the little boys mother tells her son that they aren t lucky because they don t have any money. Even though the family has money they don t have enough for how they are choosing to live. To their family money matters. Money is essential for living, but insufficient for striving (Tatzel). This quote states that money indeed is important to survive but you don t need a lot, just enough to get you by. In the story the mom wants more. She is never happy with how much she has, because she doesn t have enough. In the story children hear the house speaking to them saying there must be more money (pg.1248). This is proving that there are economic questions a rising. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Discovery Of Non Euclidean Geometry IaOng Moua Professor McLeod Math 451: Axiomatic Geometry Research Paper 12/13/16 History of Hyperbolic Geometry The discovery of non Euclidean geometry is credited to nineteenth century mathematicians Carl Friedrich Gauss, Nikolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky, and János Bolyai because they are first to recognize that the negation of Euclid s Fifth Postulate as an axiom produced another geometry that was as rich and solid as that of Euclidean geometry (Venema, 2012). However, several concepts of Hyperbolic geometry were already known by that time, it just was not labeled as Hyperbolic geometry (or non Euclidean geometry) because Hyperbolic geometry was not yet discovered . Euclid s work was so distinguished that it was accepted as the standard so people did not think it was possible for other geometries to exist. All in all, the discovery and growth of Hyperbolic geometry first began with several mathematicians trying to prove that Euclid s Fifth Postulate could be eliminated as an axiom. Before the Recognition of Hyperbolic Geometry as a Geometry Geometry first originated as a way to solve problems in architecture and navigation. A famous figure in geometry is Euclid. Around 300 BC, he published a book, The Elements, which contained definitions, axioms, and postulates that would be regarded as a standard of mathematical reasoning for the next two thousand years (Mueller, 1969). Euclid basically gave the foundation of what is now called Euclidean geometry. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Income Inequality In Australia Essay Income inequality in Australia is a growing phenomenon. While Australia remains one of the wealthiest nations in the world and has seen income growth across all strata of society, income inequality has also risen in tandem (Greenville, Poke Rogers, 2013, pp. 4 5). The Gini coefficient for Australia, an indicator of national income distribution where 0 represents perfect equality and 1 representing complete inequality, has gone up from 0.35 in 1988 89 to 0.41 in 2009 10 (Greenville, Poke Rogers, 2013, p. 7). The Australia Institute (Richardson Denniss, 2014, pp. 2, 8) cites the failure of minimum wage to keep up with average earnings in lower class Australians and significant increases in top incomes have led to an accumulation of wealth at the top. However in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
