Reflection On The Word Reflection
For me the word reflection means taking time to really dig deep into my thoughts, to contemplate
something meaningful and significant, to make a decision that often involves me and my future. It has
a personal and emotional connection. Daudelin (1996) uses the word reflection to encourage managers
to create time to recognise the value of learning from past and current work situations ( experience )
and to adapt this learning to new situations. I would prefer to choose the words thought or
consideration when applying the idea of reflection to my own work environment. To fix my thoughts
on what I have learned or to carefully consider how to approach a problem would, for me, be a better
fit. I might, however, choose to reflect on how the past year has been or to reflect on the direction the
organisation is taking, but not, as Daudelin suggests, bring the word into every day use.
Boud et al. (1985) suggest that we can t learn from experience alone and ask the questions: What
transforms experience into learning? What enables learners to profit from the situations they find
themselves in? How does experience relate to new situations?
Daudelin (1996, 39) offers a definition of reflection that catches its relation to learning:
Reflection is the process of stepping back from an experience to ponder, carefully and persistently, its
meaning to the self through the development of inferences; learning is the creation of meaning from
past or current events that serves as a

Examples Of Lexical Cohesion
This paper tackles how cohesion can be effective to make the text more united. Both cohesive devices;
lexical and grammatical, have a powerful role in giving the text texture. Lexical devices are repetition,
antonyms, synonyms, and general words. On the other hand, grammatical devices are reference,
conjunction, and ellipsis. Both of them provide the text harmony and meaning.
Lexical Cohesion Lexical cohesion occurs when two words are semantically related to each other such
as, repetition, synonyms, antonyms, general words, and superordinate. Firstly, repetition occurs when
one word is mentioned more than one time throughout the text. To illustrate, the word and is repeated
about 22 times in the text , the word her is repeated around 15 times in paragraphs number 1, 2, 8, 9,
10, 11, and 13, the morpheme mother is repeated 5 times in paragraphs number 1, 8, and 14, the
pronoun I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, conjunctions link between clauses and sentences. They signal the way the writer wants the
reader to relate the sentence to what have been said or what is going to be said throughout the text.
Conjunctions have many types such as, additive, causal, adversative, and temporal. Additive
conjunctions, also in paragraph number 6, or in paragraph number 3, and in paragraphs number 4, 7,
10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, are used when the writer wants to add more information to his idea. Causal
conjunctions like, in order to in paragraph number 7, so in paragraph number 8, 9, and 14, and because
in paragraph number 14, are used to tell a reason or a result. Adversative conjunctions like, but in
paragraph 8, and although in paragraph number 11, are used to confirm opposite ideas.
Temporal conjunction like, since in paragraph number 9, is used to confirm

Breast Biopsy Video Analysis
Due to the new technology such as digital mammography and stereotactic devices, we are now able to
perform minimally invasive needle localization breast biopsy s that are more accurate and less
disfiguring to the patient s breast. This video went over the procedure, giving step by step instructions
on how to perform this exam. It begins with a mammogram that demonstrated an abnormality. There
are many options a patient can choose when they find out they have an abnormality in their breast.
One option is to have a breast biopsy. A minimally invasive needle localization breast biopsy is a
relatively easy for the patient. Only local anesthesia is required for this procedure. The patient lays on
their stomach with their breast falling through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stereotactic imaging is performed to make sure that the needle is at the correct site of the lesion. As an
extra precaution, the coordinates of the needle can be checked by using the computer. A T Fastener is
also inserted into the breast tissue to fix the tissue in place during the biopsy. Another stereotactic
image is taken to demonstrate where the T Fastener is at in the breast. After the stereotactic images are
taken, is it now time to begin the removal of the tissue. Before you insert the cannula into the breast,
you have to make sure the needle and T Fastener are both locked into place on the stage assembly. The
cannula is inserted into the breast by a circular cutting blade. A transverse incision is made and the
skin flaps are folded over the cannula. The cannula is pushed through the tissue, usually fourteen
millimeters past the lesion and T Fastener. After the cannula is positioned, another stereotactic image
is taken to verify if the lesion is contained within the

Microscopic Colitis Research Paper
In reading the statistics regarding the prevalence of Microscopic Colitis, this affliction appears to
occur most frequently to people aged 50 to 70 and more often to women than to men. This age group
entered early adult hood in the 1960s 1970s. In this era, smoking was a socially acceptable habit. In
2016, smoking is strongly discouraged and most individuals in the 60+ age group have proudly given
up the smoking habit. Could cessation behavior be responsible for the age onset of this condition?
Could the fact that a smaller percentage of younger adults currently smoke result in a decrease in
future cases of microscopic colitis? These are questions this writer sought to answer. Persky in his
book Microscopic Colitis, cites terminating

The Luck Uglies Essay
Have you read a book as action packed and suspenseful as The Luck Uglies by Paul Durham? After
this, you will be wanting to read it. It is a great book for those who like to read fantasy and fairy tale
books. It can pull you in for a mystical and wild ride. This book is more interesting than the ordinary
good versus evil fantasy books. It puts you into a complex puzzle that you have to solve. In a time
long ago, in a large village, a girl named Rye O Chanter has experienced peculiar events. Long ago,
there were monstrous creatures named Bog Noblins that are now supposed to be extinct. However,
Rye encountered a strange creature which looked like a Bog Noblin which convinced her that they
returned from Beyond the Shale, a forest. No one can protect the village except an old, exiled secret
society that no one in Village Drowning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a challenge because everyone despised the Luck Uglies and their crimes. Many people
thought it was not possible based on their crime record. It was also a challenge since Bog Noblins
were very dangerous. They could easily kill humans with their bare hands. For example, Rye almost
got killed by the monster, but she got squeezed by the throat instead. She did not die because Harmless
saved her from the monster. The theme of this book would be, Sometimes things may not seem how it
really is. This is because the Luck Uglies, the so called villains, protected the villagers from the Bog
Noblins, the monsters. Longchance had exiled the Luck Uglies from Village Drowning because he
thought they kidnapped Lady Longchance. The Luck Uglies hadn t done anything wrong, but since
they lived in Beyond the Shale, they were claimed guilty. Even after, Longchance made the villagers
hate the Luck Uglies, so that he would be valued more and treated better. In the end, he was
considered the real villain of the

Nonverbal Communication In My Family
For Thanksgiving, my family came to my house. My family was excited to meet the new boyfriend of
my cousin, Kelley. This would be our first time meeting him (other than stalking him on Facebook). I
picked Thanksgiving because it is an event that is filled with nonverbal communication. Whenever my
family gets together, I usually expect really loud laughter coming from someone at any given time.
Furthermore, the whole room is just really loud in general. We usually talk in loud volumes, speak
with our hands, make eye contact, hug, and lean forward when we are talking to each other. All of
these nonverbal communication norms say that everyone in our family gets along and loves each other
very much. But, bring a newbie into our group and I thought things would change. I was wrong.
When Kelley and Michael (her boyfriend) first arrived, there was a loud greeting from my mom. She
was complementing, or [expressing] nonverbal behaviors [that] match the thoughts and emotions [of]
the communicator, with her warm smile on her face (Adler and Proctor 217). She used paralanguage
to illustrate her excitement. Paralanguage refers to a message spoken [in a way that] can give the same
word or words many meanings (Adler and Proctor 230). In this context, she raised her voice in order
to show that she was excited to see Kelley and Michael. Upon her greeting, she raised her hands in
order to signal that she was going in for a hug. This gesture set precedent for the rest of the

also a very weak intermolecular hydrogen bond between C25 H50 and F7 which has been attributed to
the packing of the Paliperidone crystal. Another weak intramolecular hydrogen bond C30 H57 and

Comparative Social Policy
Hong Kong and England have an inseparable relationship with each other. Starting from 1842 to 1997,
Hong Kong was one of the colonies under British Empire. The 156 years relationship ended when
United Kingdom transferred Hong Kong s sovereignty to the China government on 1st July 1997. In
this period, British government controlled Hong Kong Education and Housing policies but those
policies are not as same as England. After the regime shifted to China, Hong Kong government had
changed from the old policies. In the project, I will mainly focus on the comparison of the policies
after 1997. In the first part, I will introduce the education policy in Hong Kong and England. The

Bounty Hunter Levi Owens Essay
Bounty hunter Levi Owens glared at the wanted poster one last time. He folded the tattered notice and
slid it into his vest pocket. All he needed was two weeks to track the swindler and another to drag his
worthless hide back to Austin. All he wanted was to shoot him dead.
His pack mule kicked out and Levi cursed its previous owner. A poorly trained animal took a lot of
work, but right now, it was all he could afford. He loaded the last bag of the provisions on the mule
and pulled a tarp over the rest of his supplies. When he turned around, he locked eyes with his
widowed sister in law Rose. She wrapped her hands around a smooth handled shovel and stabbed it
into the ground.
Six months ago, Levi buried his wife Anna. In many ways, Rose looked ... Show more content on

When Anna was sick, he appreciated her coming to help. They had a common cause, but the woman

Dudley Randall s Fahrenheit 451
If no one bother to question and challenge the rules, everyone are bound to be suppressed by the those
in power. Throughout history , there had been many dictators, those who took full control over other s
lives. However, many leaders and supporters also fought to keep everyone s rights. The novel,
Fahrenheit 451, written by Ray Bradbury, and Dudley Randall s poem The Ballad of Birmingham
fully illustrate that it is appropriate to defy rules when people civil rights are violated.
In the novel Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury told the story about a futuristic world where people totally
conform and firemen actually go start fire instead of putting them out. A seventeen years old girl,

The story set place during the Civil Right movement in a black household of a little girl and her
mother. The poem signal that African Americans are not gifted with their freedom when the girl asked
her mother to join the Freedom March to make our country free (Randall). Getting their freedom taken
away, many African American children march the street of Birmingham to regain their natural rights.
Taking a stand to fight for one s right is the responsibilities of everyone. Another example is the
mother s reason for refusing to let her daughter go march because of her fear of the danger behold
there. The mother then direct her daughter to go to church instead (Randall). Ironically, the girl meet
her fate at the place thought to be the most sacred place. This ironic situation revealed that ignoring
the violation of the rules upon civil rights is as dangerous as challenging it.
Rules need to be challenged when it disregards people s civil right. Bradbury s novel Fahrenheit 451
and Randall s poem The Ballad of Birmingham provide examples that explain the reason for a suitable
situation to defy the rules. Montag, in Fahrenheit 451, is fighting for his right of intelligence. The little
girl, in The Ballad of Birmingham, also suggest that she join the march to make her country free.
Some may argue that everyone

Fast Car by Wyclef Jean Analysis
When a Car is More Than Just a Car The first time I heard the song, Fast Car by Wyclef Jean, I really
liked it because it was catchy. After listening to it a few more times, I realized there was a lot of
meaning to it. To me, the main goal of this song is to teach the young listeners a difficult lesson to be
careful before they do something that could potentially ruin their lives. Also, Jean is showing his
listeners there is help out there and tomorrow is not promised everybody needs take advantage of their
available resources so they do not harm themselves. Basically, Jean wants everyone to be careful with
the life that they currently have rather than wasting time here on earth. Jean explains his story by using

The first half is, you don t got to be no billionaire, to get a ticket up to the moon. We all know
somebody up there, you need a helping hand, look, I m right here. Basically, Jean means everybody
goes to the moon, or heaven, one day. However, a person does not have to be rich to take a trip up
there. We all know people who have passed away and gone to heaven; it is never easy to say goodbye
to people who leave Earth. He wants everyone to know that there is plenty of help on Earth. Jean does
not want anybody to mess up their life to the point that it isn t worth it to fix it. This part of the song
has the most symbolic meaning. Cars symbolize the journey of life from birth to death, just as they
help you travel from one place to another. Jean uses the verses to show literal meanings of why we
need to be careful with cars; he uses the chorus to show the symbolic meaning associated with fast
cars and why they have the ability to be so dangerous. Also, he prefers not to have any hardships to
control his listeners lives either. The verse goes on to say, ...to help you see clearly now. Jean wants to
be the helping hand for everybody. Why die, when you could fix your problems and live as a happy
individual? The whole purpose of the song is to be smart and not let our cars or problems control us.
The bridge of the song emphasizes the dangers of cars. A person might be drinking or not in the right
mental state to drive, however if they pick

Roles Of Women In The 1800s Essay
Roles of Women in the late 1800s Around the late 1800s, the roles of women were different than
todays. Women could not participate in majority of the occupations that men are allowed too. Women
could not vote, they were unauthorized to own property, and were restricted to working. Women were
only seen as stay at home wives, and completed all the duties as a housewife. Women cooked,
cleaned, and nurtured the children while the fathers worked outside the home. The womanhood was
considered to be piety and domesticity with submissiveness and passivity. Sarah Josepha Hale, editor
of Godey s Lady s book, characterized women as one who was timid and delicate, demanded
protection, and possessed a sweet dependency. Men were symbolized as aggressive, materialistic, and

about the womanhood decided which woman could enter the work field. In 1890, nearly 5 percent of

African American women worked outside the homes. Women often worked as domestic servants,
doing the jobs of nursing, office work, teaching, and sales. By the mid 1870s, states in the North
passed the Married Women Property Act, which allowed married women to own and control property
in their own right. In some states, the law varied widely; however, this epitomized the transfer of
property rights and made improvements to the status of American married women. Teachers from the
North were selected to educate former slaves. In 1869, over 9 thousand teachers were initiated to

elementary schools. Before the Civil War, it was impossible for most southern black females to

Parabola Y X2 Change
The shape of the basis parabola y=x2 changes for different forms of the parabolic function causing it
to translate, reflect or dilate. Dilation (widening or narrowing) of the parabola occurs when the basis
parabola y=x2 is multiplied or divided (m) therefore changing the equation to either y=mx2 or
y=x^2/m. For instance, if the parabola is multiplied by two the parabola becomes narrower whereas if
the parabola is divided by two the parabola becomes wider. This is evident in the graph in question 1b
as when the basis parabola is multiplied by fourteen the parabola becomes narrower however when the
basis parabola is divided by fourteen it becomes wider. Reflection of the parabola occurs when the
basis parabola y=x2 is changed to y= x2. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vertical (upwards or downwards) translation of the parabola occurs when the basis parabola y=x2, y
value of each point is increased or decreased therefore changing the equation to either to y=x2+h or
y=x2 h. For instance, in order to translate the parabola upwards by 5 units it shifts the general point (a,
a2) to (a, a2+5) therefore making the equation, y= x2+5. The vertex of this parabola is now (0,5) but it
still has the same axis of symmetry. Likewise, when the basis parabola becomes y=x2 5 the parabola is
translated 5 units down with the vertex (0, 5). This can be seen through the graph in question 1a as the
parabolas are vertically translated upwards or downwards by using the addition or subtraction of
fourteen. Conversely, horizontal translation of the parabola occurs when the translation parabola
equation y=x2±h is changed to y=(x±h)2. Therefore, the horizontal translation for the parabola is
changed by the value of the variable h, that is subtracted from x before the squaring operation. For
example, in order to translate the parabola to the left by 4 units it shifts the general point (a, a2) to (a,
(a+2)2) therefore making the equation, y= (x+2)2. The vertex of this parabola is now (0,4). Likewise,
when the basis parabola becomes y=(x 2)2 the parabola is translated 2 units to the right with the vertex
(0, 4). This can be seen through the graph in

The Awakening Of Austria
The world of the early 20th century was a brewing cesspit of nationalism and militarism coupled with
isolationism and web of alliances. One might have noted if they lived at such a t time that war was
inevitable, but no one was quite sure how such a conflict could arise after many of the world powers
had consolidated in military alliances with each other. The ultimate irony of this mindset is that the
alliances that were meant to bring about endless peace, would lead to the greatest war ever seen on the
face of the earth. The forging of these alliances divided the prewar world powers in half, which only
heightened any instances of conflict between each side. The ability for anything that normally wouldn

The Holocaust Of The World War II
Elie Wiesel Says..
Nowadays, people tend to forget the morality of human beings. For instance, the people in today s
world are attracted to greed or power letting their mind and body rot them. However, are we doing a
right in letting people like that win? It might not seem much or anything, but as history has shown us
otherwise with World War II. Like letting a tyrant leader like Adolf Hitler take over different countries
and bring in what is believed the most horrific discrimination ever known. Therefore, it is right to
agree with Elie Wiesel a former target of the Nazi Final Solution that the moment race and religion are
involved then that soon must become the center of the universe s attention.
To begin with, this all started when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only reason Britain and France actually cared to fight against Hitler was the invasion of Poland.
In addition, the same goes for the United States when they entered the world war because of the attack
on Pearl Harbor. So it comes to question does anyone in the world have any heart? Some say yes and
others say no. However, why did the world not listen to what was going on? Government elites must
have known but ignored and came only to care when their country was on jeopardy.
On the other hand, most people believe that this ideal of race and religion discrimination has ended
and that the world is a lot better today than the way it was began. They are right that world is better
than it was, yet race and religion discrimination has only tricked to a certain amount. For instance,
former president Donald Trump has since shown his hate towards Mexican Americans by
exponentially criticizing them on national television and during his presidential speeches. He has also
stated in letting all illegal and legal Mexican Americans transfer back to Mexico. However, the catch
is only if one obviously is that they are illegal and two if they have any criminal record against federal
and state government.
Therefore, what is there to be said about the universe? Some state that it is good and beneficial, but he
just started and is already bringing up different types of chaos like insulting Mexican President
Enrique Pena Nieto and forcing Mexico to pay for a border wall that the

Paper On Vitiligo
According to, Le Poole and Van den Wijngaard, vitiligo is a dermatological disorder characterized by
destruction of melanocytes and loss of pigmentation. Generalized vitiligo or non segmental vitiligo
(NSV) is characterized by white patches, often symmetrical, that usually increase in size with time,
corresponding to a substantial loss of functioning epidermal and in some cases hair follicle
melanocytes. According to a study done in 1983 by Naughton, Eisinger, and Bystryn, it affects
approximately 500,000 persons in the United States. There aren t many treatment options at the
moment but it has recently come to light that the use of narrow band ultraviolet (UV) B therapy has

Loss of the functionality of melanocytes is responsible for vitiligo but the real cause of vitiligo is
unknown. However, some conditions including autoimmune, genetic, neural, viral infections and
oxidative stress could have an important role in the onset of vitiligo. There are three hypotheses for its
pathogenesis including biochemical cytotoxic, neural, and autoimmune: the biochemical/cytotoxic
hypothesis emphasizes that vitiligo occurs when the melanocyte is killed by cytotoxic precursors to
melanin synthesis; the neural hypothesis is based on nerve injury development with affected sites that
leads to segmental vitiligo with neurons that interact with melanocytes and release melano cytotoxic

The use of phrase keywords also contributes to number of bookings like the phrase DC to France Sale
which have the highest conversion rate compare to others. Different with Google, Yahoo has
moderately earned more income from the words of city such as Florence, Paris and Rome. This may
be resulted from the difference search methods that Yahoo mainly focuses on web contents keywords.
Overture more likely to gain revenue in words that relate with cities in eastern part of Europe like
Athens, Tunis, Amman. Overture loses money on broad unspecific words. Thus, Overture should
focus on the exact keywords which have connection with flight and travel to eastern part of Europe.
MSN US and MSN Global costs mainly derived from phrase keywords except Air France Brand
keywords. For example, phrase keyword of travel to France generates moderate number of 346 clicks,
but none of the clicks succeed in sales conversion. Another example is flights to Paris , other
publishers succeed in booking of positive net revenue with the keywords, while MSN US and MSN
Global lose money. * Broad and focus keyword Broad keyword usually gains many clicks from the
campaigns. By analyzing publishers performance data, we concluded that Yahoo US, Overture Global,
MSN US and MSN Global are publishers that have strength in broad campaign keywords. Number of
clicks for broad keywords represents minimum 90% of total clicks

1. Define American Call/Put option 10 pts
Answer
Options allow investors to hedge against risk. If one expects stock prices to rise, then he/she may like
to invest in stocks. However, buying stocks also entails risk because of price fluctuation. The risk will
be potentially large in case price falls to zero. In order to avoid risk one may like to buy a call option.
An American call option gives one the right, but not an obligation, to buy a specified number of shares
of a stock for a specified price called exercise or strike price before the maturity date or on ... Show

Theme Of The Movie And To Kill A Mockingbird
Often times, book lovers are brought down by the awful films inspired by novels they enjoy. When
compared to their book, the movies frequently do not portray the right concepts and details the author
had intended. Therefore, most viewers are disappointed with the film adaptation. To Kill a
Mockingbird is no exception for some people, however, I subjectively feel that the novel written by
Harper Lee and the film directed by Robert Mulligan compliment each other. The portrayed elements
of the town of Maycomb, Tom Robinson s character, and the scene of the trail resemble relatively
close between the novel and film of To Kill a Mockingbird. The setting of the story, a small southern
town known as Maycomb, is perceived differently by various people upon reading the text. While I
read the novel, the town of Maycomb came to life in my mind from my own perception of details. The
town resembled a downtown square with never ending storefronts that were adjacent to one another.
Parking spots lined the sidewalk, causing drivers to parallel park against the curb. Small grassy fields
across the streets had trees and benches for passing leisure time. In the text, Harper Lee described
Maycomb through the perspective of the children the night they followed Atticus. She wrote, The
south side of the square was deserted. Giant monkey puzzle bushes bristled on each corner, and
between them an iron hitching rail glistened under the street lights. A light shone in the county toilet,

Pure Evil In A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah
The human behavior is one that will haunt humanity forever. A Long Way Gone, written by Ishmael
Beah, is an original non fiction story based on Ishmael s personal experiences in warfare. But,
shockingly, he witnessed warfare from the small eyes of his teenage years. Having to experience one
of the worst things in history, at such a young age, is terrible. War, in this case or in any case, relates to
both human condition and human nature. Human conditions, in short, are things that that defines the
human existence (birth, death, etc.) Human nature, close to human conditions, are how humans act
naturally to their environment and others. The theme of A Long Way Gone ties strongly with both of
these with a passion. It describes war as an art, with human condition as a canvas and human nature to
paint in the fine details. The question asked is what Ishmael Beah s experience tells us about the
meaning of the human being, and to answer we have to poke at some topics that we ve covered. The
answers to the sole question include the hypothetical existence of pure evil, the important keys of
human social life, and how war affects one s own mind.
In the attempt to comprehend the meaning of being human, it s important to first understand what it
must mean to be pure evil. If we can know what pure evil is, we can understand the conditions that
brought Ishmael to do such horrid things himself. In several chapters of the book, Ishmael goes
through the torture of the militia known as the

Since the people wanted those thing King Louis was forced to share his power. The Reign of Terror

Due to the Reign of Terror, France rid itself of Monarchy and traits to France. On February 5, 1794

Good and Bad Aspects of Floods
GOOD AND BAD ASPECTS OF FLOODS Flooding can be defined as occupancy by water in areas
that are normally dry. Flooding occur due to the effect of temporal level rise of rivers, lakes or other.
To some extent, flooding events can be controlled by man, depending on land use near the riverbeds.
The floods are mainly produced by the occurrence of prolonged heavy rain, such as during tropical
storms and hurricanes, coupled with local drainage difficulties caused by different causes, mainly by
the negligent action of people. But the floods have any positive aspect? Like most natural hazards,
floods can lead to loss of life and property damage, with great impact on public health that may take to
much time to recover. From 1980 2012, there were approximately 200 flood related events in the
world, in which 500,000 people, at least they died or were injured and 20 million lost their homes. In
terms of physical losses, floods are responsible for 40% of damage caused by natural disasters across
the property. According to its origin , floods are classified as rain floods, river floods and coastal
floods. Rainwater and river floods occur as a result of rainfall that occur when moisture in the seas ,
oceans and other large bodies of water , is transported to the land by the wind ; when ascending water
vapor and decrease its temperature , is presented in any of the following ways ; rain, snow or hail. The
process may arise due to the occurrence of hurricanes, normal wind ,

Group Voting Behavior Analysis
Group Voting Behavior The two major parties in the United States political system, Democratic and
Republican, have many the differences about the policies and the political positions such as taxes, the
role of government, gun control, gay rights, immigration, etc. Those differences are influenced by all
of the American people s political ideology in society. Absolutely, every single person in the United
States have their own choices for those problems. Therefore, each party has its special groups that
support for their policies, and it also shows the people s expectation on each party. In race and
ethnicity group, most non Hispanic whites have a tendency to vote for Republican party while African
Americans, Latinos and Asian likely vote for the Democratic party. The reason why having this
division because Republican believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, has

Thesis About Yaeba
Young Japanese women and girls are suffering from the Yaeba Complex. Unlike their counterparts in
many other developed nations who view straight teeth as perfection, the Japanese are instead opting to
undergo the expensive and painful procedure of creating crooked teeth. In this essay, through the
lenses of the growing Yaeba trend, I will account for the reasons that contribute to this seemingly
weird Japanese obsession of a preference for an imperfect smile, and study the possible societal issues
that have resulted in the former s emergence. A cross country analysis between Japan and America
will also be briefly conducted to highlight the cultural similarities and differences between a highly
Westernised Japan and the West itself. Yaeba ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is in part due to numerous Japanese celebrities hopping onto the bandwagon of Yaeba procedures
(Considine, 2011), playing an instrumental role in popularising and defining a new beauty fashion.
Indeed, a quick search on the internet churns out dozens of websites highlighting numerous prominent
Japanese celebrities proudly displaying their Yaeba, with the phrase cute , ubiquitous in the
descriptions . Gathering from this popularised trend of Yaeba procedures in pursuit of cute beauty, I
posit that there are two main social issues that can be drawn to conclusion. After all, a social trend
highlights the underlying larger social issues. Firstly, I question if the Yaeba fascination points out to
an underlying female subordination trend, where women are simply keen to please men. It has been
suggested in various accounts that Japanese men swoon over women with a Yaeba smile (Didymus,
2013), as Yaeba is viewed as a child like feature (Dumas, 2011). This possibly elevates the superiority
of men as protectors and evokes a desire for men to protect women. Such an unhealthy obsession with
women possessing child like appearance also seems to be sexualising women (Considine, 2011) into
symbols of possession, and belittling women as a weaker sex that is dependent on men for

Christendom Sects
Although today one might recognize Christendom as having three main sects, this is not entirely true.
Within each mainstream denomination, there are countless subsects, each with their own distinctive
beliefs and practices. If one attempted to unite the all the groups, they would find it incredibly
difficult. Originally, Christendom was made of of one mainstream sect, Roman Catholicism, and other
sects united under its main ideas. In 1054, relations between the East and the West Church rapidly
deteriorated. Eventually, the Eastern Church would split from Roman Catholicism to form a new sect
of Christianity, Eastern Orthodoxy. Later, another sect, Protestantism, would emerge after Martin
Luther nailed a copy of his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle church on October 31,
1517. There were several key differences between Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and
Protestantism. Even after many other denominations of Christendom had given up allegiance to the
pope, the Roman Catholic population stayed faithful. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gender Bias In The Media
Gender Bias in the Media is happening right now all around us, woman are being treated differently
because of they re gender, many women are expected to maintain certain beauty standards and are less
likely to receive leadership roles. I recently was given the ability to listen to an interview regarding
this issue. Robyn Urback is a Canadian journalist and political commentator based in Toronto, Ontario
recently gave a speech and received an interview regarding this issue. Robyn Urback discussed many
different problems about one of the biggest one that stands out to me was the sexual abuse and double
standards. She mentioned a few examples, one being how news media companies like Fox News
encouraged their woman to show their legs and wear short skirts, furthermore, to not sit in the middle
of the table since the stand would block the view of their legs. For many years, news reports indicated
the network didn t allow its female hosts to wear pants. Gabriel Sherman s biography of Ailes, The
Loudest Voice in the Room, said the founder and former chairman of Fox News once disapproved
when former host Catherine Crier appeared on TV wearing pants. The book states: Be more
opinionated, he told Crier in one meeting. The guests are there as a foil for you. He also disagreed
with her dress. He had admiration for her legs, a senior executive said. In one meeting, Ailes barked,

How Did Military Advances Affect The Civil War
The Civil War was a tragic reality check for the people of America. Thus Military advances played a
drastic role in the war, allowing the North to hit enemies from longer range and fires its guns faster.
Economics also played a radical role in the war. It gave the north an advantage allowing it to fund the

economics affected the war the most. Military advances impacted the war greatly. Ironclad Warships

The Theme Of Coming Of Age In Literature Essay
The Theme of Coming of Age in Literature
There comes a time is each person s life when they reach the point where they are no longer children,
but adults. The transition from a child into a young adult is often referred to as the quot;coming of age,
quot; or growing up. The time when this transition occurs is different in everyone, since everyone is
an individual and no two people are alike. Certain children reach this stage through a tragic, painful
event which affects them to such extent that they are completely changed. Other children reach this
time by simply growing older and having a better understanding of the world around them. The
coming of age really is indefinite and cannot be marked in general overview. This stage in

Among the African Gusii, for example, girls are at about age nine, boys at twelve years old; Thonga
boys may be sixteen. Boys rites often involve seclusion from women, hazing by older males, test of
manliness, and genital operations, including circumcision. Girls rites are just as bad if not worse with
things like removal of the clitoris. In some places in North America, the ritual is individual where as in
Africa and Oceania the ritual can be collective.
A plain Indian adolescent boy undertakes a vision quest; he goes out alone into the wilderness,
endures hardship, and seeks a vision from his animal guardian spirit; if he gets one, he returns a man.
Yet a different way for these rituals is group rituals. These often takes months or even years, as among
many Australian aboriginal tribes. Novices learn great quantities of information and obey countless
taboos. Instructors are men who are strangers to boys. Ritual pulls the boy from childhood, especially
from his mother. He moves from the category of women and privileged children toward the privileged
one of the adult males. Such rites maintain adult male togetherness and strengthen cultural continuity.
They resolve boys conflicts about sexual identity and establish clear attitudes toward fathers and
mothers. Such rites dramatize the power of older over younger males and state that quot;only women
can make babies: but only men can make

Type Of Luxury Consumers By Robert Frank
In the article Type of Luxury Consumers , the author, Robert Frank, tries to deal with the issue of the
behaviour of luxury consumers. He introduces the readers that the consumers will spend their money
lavishly to show wealth and status based on their economic ability. They are willing to buy expensive
items with a good branding compared to the low end product that lack of explicit markers. The author
argues every type of luxury consumer has their own desire and taste to follow the trend and the effect

The example of inductive reasoning is based on paragraph VII, he states the Gucci s brand use

Based on the article, we can make the inference that non patrician gives bad effect towards the brand

long as they can afford it without bothering the quality.
Based on paragraph IV, we can conclude that there are 4 types of consumers which are patrician,

  • 2. Reflection On The Word Reflection For me the word reflection means taking time to really dig deep into my thoughts, to contemplate something meaningful and significant, to make a decision that often involves me and my future. It has a personal and emotional connection. Daudelin (1996) uses the word reflection to encourage managers to create time to recognise the value of learning from past and current work situations ( experience ) and to adapt this learning to new situations. I would prefer to choose the words thought or consideration when applying the idea of reflection to my own work environment. To fix my thoughts on what I have learned or to carefully consider how to approach a problem would, for me, be a better fit. I might, however, choose to reflect on how the past year has been or to reflect on the direction the organisation is taking, but not, as Daudelin suggests, bring the word into every day use. Boud et al. (1985) suggest that we can t learn from experience alone and ask the questions: What transforms experience into learning? What enables learners to profit from the situations they find themselves in? How does experience relate to new situations? Daudelin (1996, 39) offers a definition of reflection that catches its relation to learning: Reflection is the process of stepping back from an experience to ponder, carefully and persistently, its meaning to the self through the development of inferences; learning is the creation of meaning from past or current events that serves as a ... • 3. Examples Of Lexical Cohesion This paper tackles how cohesion can be effective to make the text more united. Both cohesive devices; lexical and grammatical, have a powerful role in giving the text texture. Lexical devices are repetition, antonyms, synonyms, and general words. On the other hand, grammatical devices are reference, conjunction, and ellipsis. Both of them provide the text harmony and meaning. Lexical Cohesion Lexical cohesion occurs when two words are semantically related to each other such as, repetition, synonyms, antonyms, general words, and superordinate. Firstly, repetition occurs when one word is mentioned more than one time throughout the text. To illustrate, the word and is repeated about 22 times in the text , the word her is repeated around 15 times in paragraphs number 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13, the morpheme mother is repeated 5 times in paragraphs number 1, 8, and 14, the pronoun I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, conjunctions link between clauses and sentences. They signal the way the writer wants the reader to relate the sentence to what have been said or what is going to be said throughout the text. Conjunctions have many types such as, additive, causal, adversative, and temporal. Additive conjunctions, also in paragraph number 6, or in paragraph number 3, and in paragraphs number 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, are used when the writer wants to add more information to his idea. Causal conjunctions like, in order to in paragraph number 7, so in paragraph number 8, 9, and 14, and because in paragraph number 14, are used to tell a reason or a result. Adversative conjunctions like, but in paragraph 8, and although in paragraph number 11, are used to confirm opposite ideas. Breast Biopsy Video Analysis Due to the new technology such as digital mammography and stereotactic devices, we are now able to perform minimally invasive needle localization breast biopsy s that are more accurate and less disfiguring to the patient s breast. This video went over the procedure, giving step by step instructions on how to perform this exam. It begins with a mammogram that demonstrated an abnormality. There are many options a patient can choose when they find out they have an abnormality in their breast. One option is to have a breast biopsy. A minimally invasive needle localization breast biopsy is a relatively easy for the patient. Only local anesthesia is required for this procedure. The patient lays on their stomach with their breast falling through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stereotactic imaging is performed to make sure that the needle is at the correct site of the lesion. As an extra precaution, the coordinates of the needle can be checked by using the computer. A T Fastener is also inserted into the breast tissue to fix the tissue in place during the biopsy. Another stereotactic image is taken to demonstrate where the T Fastener is at in the breast. After the stereotactic images are taken, is it now time to begin the removal of the tissue. Before you insert the cannula into the breast, you have to make sure the needle and T Fastener are both locked into place on the stage assembly. The cannula is inserted into the breast by a circular cutting blade. A transverse incision is made and the skin flaps are folded over the cannula. The cannula is pushed through the tissue, usually fourteen millimeters past the lesion and T Fastener. After the cannula is positioned, another stereotactic image is taken to verify if the lesion is contained within the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Microscopic Colitis Research Paper In reading the statistics regarding the prevalence of Microscopic Colitis, this affliction appears to occur most frequently to people aged 50 to 70 and more often to women than to men. This age group entered early adult hood in the 1960s 1970s. In this era, smoking was a socially acceptable habit. In 2016, smoking is strongly discouraged and most individuals in the 60+ age group have proudly given up the smoking habit. Could cessation behavior be responsible for the age onset of this condition? Could the fact that a smaller percentage of younger adults currently smoke result in a decrease in future cases of microscopic colitis? These are questions this writer sought to answer. • 6. The Luck Uglies Essay Have you read a book as action packed and suspenseful as The Luck Uglies by Paul Durham? After this, you will be wanting to read it. It is a great book for those who like to read fantasy and fairy tale books. It can pull you in for a mystical and wild ride. This book is more interesting than the ordinary good versus evil fantasy books. It puts you into a complex puzzle that you have to solve. In a time long ago, in a large village, a girl named Rye O Chanter has experienced peculiar events. Long ago, there were monstrous creatures named Bog Noblins that are now supposed to be extinct. However, Rye encountered a strange creature which looked like a Bog Noblin which convinced her that they returned from Beyond the Shale, a forest. This was a challenge because everyone despised the Luck Uglies and their crimes. Many people thought it was not possible based on their crime record. It was also a challenge since Bog Noblins were very dangerous. They could easily kill humans with their bare hands. For example, Rye almost got killed by the monster, but she got squeezed by the throat instead. She did not die because Harmless saved her from the monster. The theme of this book would be, Sometimes things may not seem how it really is. This is because the Luck Uglies, the so called villains, protected the villagers from the Bog Noblins, the monsters. Longchance had exiled the Luck Uglies from Village Drowning because he thought they kidnapped Lady Longchance. The Luck Uglies hadn t done anything wrong, but since they lived in Beyond the Shale, they were claimed guilty. Even after, Longchance made the villagers hate the Luck Uglies, so that he would be valued more and treated better. In the end, he was considered the real villain of the ... • 7. Nonverbal Communication In My Family For Thanksgiving, my family came to my house. My family was excited to meet the new boyfriend of my cousin, Kelley. This would be our first time meeting him (other than stalking him on Facebook). I picked Thanksgiving because it is an event that is filled with nonverbal communication. Whenever my family gets together, I usually expect really loud laughter coming from someone at any given time. Furthermore, the whole room is just really loud in general. We usually talk in loud volumes, speak with our hands, make eye contact, hug, and lean forward when we are talking to each other. All of these nonverbal communication norms say that everyone in our family gets along and loves each other very much. But, bring a newbie into our group and I thought things would change. I was wrong. When Kelley and Michael (her boyfriend) first arrived, there was a loud greeting from my mom. She was complementing, or [expressing] nonverbal behaviors [that] match the thoughts and emotions [of] the communicator, with her warm smile on her face (Adler and Proctor 217). She used paralanguage to illustrate her excitement. Paralanguage refers to a message spoken [in a way that] can give the same word or words many meanings (Adler and Proctor 230). In this context, she raised her voice in order to show that she was excited to see Kelley and Michael. Upon her greeting, she raised her hands in order to signal that she was going in for a hug. His pack mule kicked out and Levi cursed its previous owner. A poorly trained animal took a lot of work, but right now, it was all he could afford. He loaded the last bag of the provisions on the mule and pulled a tarp over the rest of his supplies. When he turned around, he locked eyes with his widowed sister in law Rose. The novel, Fahrenheit 451, written by Ray Bradbury, and Dudley Randall s poem The Ballad of Birmingham fully illustrate that it is appropriate to defy rules when people civil rights are violated. After listening to it a few more times, I realized there was a lot of meaning to it. To me, the main goal of this song is to teach the young listeners a difficult lesson to be careful before they do something that could potentially ruin their lives. Also, Jean is showing his listeners there is help out there and tomorrow is not promised everybody needs take advantage of their available resources so they do not harm themselves. Jean uses the verses to show literal meanings of why we need to be careful with cars; he uses the chorus to show the symbolic meaning associated with fast cars and why they have the ability to be so dangerous. Dilation (widening or narrowing) of the parabola occurs when the basis parabola y=x2 is multiplied or divided (m) therefore changing the equation to either y=mx2 or y=x^2/m. For instance, if the parabola is multiplied by two the parabola becomes narrower whereas if the parabola is divided by two the parabola becomes wider. This is evident in the graph in question 1b as when the basis parabola is multiplied by fourteen the parabola becomes narrower however when the basis parabola is divided by fourteen it becomes wider. Reflection of the parabola occurs when the basis parabola y=x2 is changed to y= x2. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vertical (upwards or downwards) translation of the parabola occurs when the basis parabola y=x2, y value of each point is increased or decreased therefore changing the equation to either to y=x2+h or y=x2 h. For instance, in order to translate the parabola upwards by 5 units it shifts the general point (a, a2) to (a, a2+5) therefore making the equation, y= x2+5. The vertex of this parabola is now (0,5) but it still has the same axis of symmetry. Likewise, when the basis parabola becomes y=x2 5 the parabola is translated 5 units down with the vertex (0, 5). This can be seen through the graph in question 1a as the parabolas are vertically translated upwards or downwards by using the addition or subtraction of fourteen. Conversely, horizontal translation of the parabola occurs when the translation parabola equation y=x2±h is changed to y=(x±h)2. Therefore, the horizontal translation for the parabola is changed by the value of the variable h, that is subtracted from x before the squaring operation. For example, in order to translate the parabola to the left by 4 units it shifts the general point (a, a2) to (a, (a+2)2) therefore making the equation, y= (x+2)2. One might have noted if they lived at such a t time that war was inevitable, but no one was quite sure how such a conflict could arise after many of the world powers had consolidated in military alliances with each other. The ultimate irony of this mindset is that the alliances that were meant to bring about endless peace, would lead to the greatest war ever seen on the face of the earth. However, some conditions including autoimmune, genetic, neural, viral infections and oxidative stress could have an important role in the onset of vitiligo. There are three hypotheses for its pathogenesis including biochemical cytotoxic, neural, and autoimmune: the biochemical/cytotoxic hypothesis emphasizes that vitiligo occurs when the melanocyte is killed by cytotoxic precursors to melanin synthesis; the neural hypothesis is based on nerve injury development with affected sites that leads to segmental vitiligo with neurons that interact with melanocytes and release melano cytotoxic substrates; the autoimmune hypothesis is based on genetic data which are more associated to autoimmune diseases (E. When compared to their book, the movies frequently do not portray the right concepts and details the author had intended. Therefore, most viewers are disappointed with the film adaptation. To Kill a Mockingbird is no exception for some people, however, I subjectively feel that the novel written by Harper Lee and the film directed by Robert Mulligan compliment each other. The portrayed elements of the town of Maycomb, Tom Robinson s character, and the scene of the trail resemble relatively close between the novel and film of To Kill a Mockingbird. The setting of the story, a small southern town known as Maycomb, is perceived differently by various people upon reading the text. While I read the novel, the town of Maycomb came to life in my mind from my own perception of details. The town resembled a downtown square with never ending storefronts that were adjacent to one another. Parking spots lined the sidewalk, causing drivers to parallel park against the curb. Small grassy fields across the streets had trees and benches for passing leisure time. In the text, Harper Lee described Maycomb through the perspective of the children the night they followed Atticus. She wrote, The south side of the square was deserted. A Long Way Gone, written by Ishmael Beah, is an original non fiction story based on Ishmael s personal experiences in warfare. But, shockingly, he witnessed warfare from the small eyes of his teenage years. Having to experience one of the worst things in history, at such a young age, is terrible. War, in this case or in any case, relates to both human condition and human nature. Human conditions, in short, are things that that defines the human existence (birth, death, etc.) Human nature, close to human conditions, are how humans act naturally to their environment and others. The theme of A Long Way Gone ties strongly with both of these with a passion. It describes war as an art, with human condition as a canvas and human nature to paint in the fine details. The question asked is what Ishmael Beah s experience tells us about the meaning of the human being, and to answer we have to poke at some topics that we ve covered. The answers to the sole question include the hypothetical existence of pure evil, the important keys of human social life, and how war affects one s own mind. In the attempt to comprehend the meaning of being human, it s important to first understand what it must mean to be pure evil. Flooding occur due to the effect of temporal level rise of rivers, lakes or other. To some extent, flooding events can be controlled by man, depending on land use near the riverbeds. The floods are mainly produced by the occurrence of prolonged heavy rain, such as during tropical storms and hurricanes, coupled with local drainage difficulties caused by different causes, mainly by the negligent action of people. • 27. Thesis About Yaeba Young Japanese women and girls are suffering from the Yaeba Complex. Unlike their counterparts in many other developed nations who view straight teeth as perfection, the Japanese are instead opting to undergo the expensive and painful procedure of creating crooked teeth. In this essay, through the lenses of the growing Yaeba trend, I will account for the reasons that contribute to this seemingly weird Japanese obsession of a preference for an imperfect smile, and study the possible societal issues that have resulted in the former s emergence. A cross country analysis between Japan and America will also be briefly conducted to highlight the cultural similarities and differences between a highly Westernised Japan and the West itself. Yaeba ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is in part due to numerous Japanese celebrities hopping onto the bandwagon of Yaeba procedures (Considine, 2011), playing an instrumental role in popularising and defining a new beauty fashion. Indeed, a quick search on the internet churns out dozens of websites highlighting numerous prominent Japanese celebrities proudly displaying their Yaeba, with the phrase cute , ubiquitous in the descriptions . Gathering from this popularised trend of Yaeba procedures in pursuit of cute beauty, I posit that there are two main social issues that can be drawn to conclusion. After all, a social trend highlights the underlying larger social issues. Firstly, I question if the Yaeba fascination points out to an underlying female subordination trend, where women are simply keen to please men. It has been suggested in various accounts that Japanese men swoon over women with a Yaeba smile (Didymus, 2013), as Yaeba is viewed as a child like feature (Dumas, 2011). This possibly elevates the superiority of men as protectors and evokes a desire for men to protect women. Such an unhealthy obsession with women possessing child like appearance also seems to be sexualising women (Considine, 2011) into symbols of possession, and belittling women as a weaker sex that is dependent on men for ... Within each mainstream denomination, there are countless subsects, each with their own distinctive beliefs and practices. If one attempted to unite the all the groups, they would find it incredibly difficult. Originally, Christendom was made of of one mainstream sect, Roman Catholicism, and other sects united under its main ideas. In 1054, relations between the East and the West Church rapidly deteriorated. Eventually, the Eastern Church would split from Roman Catholicism to form a new sect of Christianity, Eastern Orthodoxy. Later, another sect, Protestantism, would emerge after Martin Luther nailed a copy of his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle church on October 31, 1517. There were several key differences between Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism. Gender Bias In The Media Gender Bias in the Media is happening right now all around us, woman are being treated differently because of they re gender, many women are expected to maintain certain beauty standards and are less likely to receive leadership roles. I recently was given the ability to listen to an interview regarding this issue. Robyn Urback is a Canadian journalist and political commentator based in Toronto, Ontario recently gave a speech and received an interview regarding this issue. Robyn Urback discussed many different problems about one of the biggest one that stands out to me was the sexual abuse and double standards. She mentioned a few examples, one being how news media companies like Fox News encouraged their woman to show their legs and wear short skirts, furthermore, to not sit in the middle of the table since the stand would block the view of their legs. For many years, news reports indicated the network didn t allow its female hosts to wear pants. Gabriel Sherman s biography of Ailes, The Loudest Voice in the Room, said the founder and former chairman of Fox News once disapproved when former host Catherine Crier appeared on TV wearing pants. The book states: Be more opinionated, he told Crier in one meeting. The guests are there as a foil for you. He also disagreed with her dress. He had admiration for her legs, a senior executive said. The Theme Of Coming Of Age In Literature Essay The Theme of Coming of Age in Literature There comes a time is each person s life when they reach the point where they are no longer children, but adults. The transition from a child into a young adult is often referred to as the quot;coming of age, quot; or growing up. The time when this transition occurs is different in everyone, since everyone is an individual and no two people are alike. Certain children reach this stage through a tragic, painful event which affects them to such extent that they are completely changed. Boys rites often involve seclusion from women, hazing by older males, test of manliness, and genital operations, including circumcision. Girls rites are just as bad if not worse with things like removal of the clitoris. In some places in North America, the ritual is individual where as in Africa and Oceania the ritual can be collective. A plain Indian adolescent boy undertakes a vision quest; he goes out alone into the wilderness, endures hardship, and seeks a vision from his animal guardian spirit; if he gets one, he returns a man. Yet a different way for these rituals is group rituals. These often takes months or even years, as among many Australian aboriginal tribes. Novices learn great quantities of information and obey countless taboos. Instructors are men who are strangers to boys. Ritual pulls the boy from childhood, especially from his mother. He moves from the category of women and privileged children toward the privileged one of the adult males. Such rites maintain adult male togetherness and strengthen cultural continuity. They resolve boys conflicts about sexual identity and establish clear attitudes toward fathers and mothers.
