Taxi Driver Social Disorganization
The film Taxi Driver, directed by Martin Scorsese, takes place in New York City
during the 1970 s. The main character Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, is a
United States Marine returning home after serving his country. Taxi Driver appears to
demonstrate the theory of Social Disorganization. The audience can see this
throughout the film in scenes where Bickle is driving through the city. As the film
continues Bickle appears to struggle with adjusting to such a large city and coping
with his sanity. This film takes a look at how Social Disorganization along with a
mental illness can contribute to someone s actions and behavior.
Travis Bickle is an extremely complex individual. It appears Bickle s mental state
is deteriorating after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps and
seeing combat action in Vietnam. Bickle seems to be an insomniac unable to sleep
at night, part of the reason why he wants to drive a taxi cab at night. Struggling to
sleep, Bickle also consumes alcohol at various times of the day. The audience gets a

Martin Scorsese beautifully demonstrates what a socially disorganized city might
reflect. Whenever Bickle is driving his taxi cab at night the audience can see
prostitution, pimping, assault, robbery, and drug dealing. In the movie one can see
that there are really no institutions exhorting their control over society. With a lack
of control from institutions such as religion, politics, and school it allows crime to
take over and become a societal norm. Bickle sees that crime is rampant within the
city and refers to these individuals as scum. It is very apparent that social
disorganization has especially taken hold of the inner city, or Zone of Transition,
which is where most minorities reside and where most crime occurs. Bickle

Observation Paper On Foster Care
Observation Paper
One day in August 2013 I woke up ate my breakfast got ready for work just like
every other day. Not realizing this day was going to change my life forever.
Around noon that day I received a call from my wife, she said do you think we can
take care of the neighbor s child who was eight months old for a little while. I sat
there for a few minutes and then I replied yes that would be alright not realizing that
little while would be months to years. I had no knowledge of kinship care, foster care,
foster children, or adoption. My wife or I did not even know what the concept was
when you have a foster child in your home. This was the first time in over ten years
I had been responsible for an infant in my home, throughout all the shock I still was
positive that we could help this child and his mother with reunifying and him
getting to go home. The first morning I woke up at 5:30 am and made him a bottle
and some oatmeal cereal, it became my morning routine with him waking up and
feeding him for next few months, before I could sleep till 7:30 or so before heading
to work. My wife and I rearranged our lives to welcome another child into our heart
and lives.
The boy s mother was raised in poverty. Her mother taught her how to use the
governmental system and the streets to survive. My wife and I had never been
subject to welfare or any government assistance programs before so many things
was new to use when we tried to help his mother get back on her feet. I was very
shocked to learn that his mother, whom was twenty three years old has never done
such things as craving pumpkins, coloring Easter eggs and even putting up a
Christmas tree. She was raised in such a different social group then my family. I felt
very sorry for her because of her past and wanted to help get her out of the situation
she had been raised in. Then a few months had passed and things was not getting any
better she had stopped coming and seeing her son and I noticed drug addicts coming
and in and out of her house. At that moment, I knew she had fallen a victim to her
surroundings. The child s mother had suffered through a very difficult childhood, and
at the age of thirteen her own mother had prostituted her out to
Los Angeles Lakers
The (9 34) Los Angeles Lakers face the (17 23) Sacramento Kings at the Staples
Center in the third game of their four game season series. The Lakers wasted a fast
start (shot 74 percent from the field in the first quarter) and surprisingly competitive
first half before the Rockets turned up the heat defensively, dropped a nine 0 scoring
run on the purple and gold to start the third quarter en route to a 22 point lead in a
112 95 victory.
The Rockets sixth straight win against the Lakers sending the purple and gold into a
three game losing skid. However, the game provided some positives in addition to the
accompanying and omnipresent negatives.
As far as positives; Kobe Bryant had an assist on seven of the Lakers first 12 baskets,
passed Lakers legend, NBA Hall of Famer, the logo, Jerry West (6,238), landing in...

As far as negatives, the Rockets scored 50 or fewer points in the paint in their
previous 11 games although the Lakers surrendered 70.
The Lakers lost their last two games against the Kings, outscored by 62 points (337
275). As a matter of fact in the Lakers last meeting with the Kings on January 6th at
the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento the purple and gold played one of their better
games of the season.
The purple and gold down 25 4 five minutes into the game; trailed by as many as 27
prior to mounting an epic comeback. The inspired Lakers posted a 38 point third
quarter, outscored the Kings 29 16 in the fourth and led by one point after a tough D
Angelo Russell layup nearly completing the franchises third biggest comeback, based
on halftime deficit before falling 118 115.
In a tale of two halves of basketball, the Lakers outscored 69 48 in the first half,
showed a lot or grit, determination as well as resolve outscoring the Kings 67 49 in
the second half making the game a competitive
FIFA s Not So Objective Role in Football
FIFA s Not So Objective Role in Football Football has always historically been
known as the most played, most loved, and most influential sport in the world. The
history of football, which was first played by the ancient Greeks and Romans, is a
long one that has played some role in shaping almost every country s culture as we
know it today. The game of football is seen by many as a game that has the rare
power to bring nations together. Football is a language that every nation can speak,
where despite the many differences in cultures between nations; football is a massive
part of almost every European, South American, and Asian nation s cultures. Whether

The World Cup allows countries to display their nationalism in supporting their
countries team, but to also show how the game of football is a language that we all
speak regardless of your religion, language, political views, and culture. The
objectivity of FIFA on picking the location of recent World Cups has brought FIFA
and its president Sepp Blatter under heavy criticism. FIFA has specifically been
criticized regarding the role of politics in objectively picking each World Cup s
location (Plaja, Steffi). Objectively picking a World Cup location requires specific
criteria for a location to be considered, some countries just do not have the
infrastructure among other criteria to host the World Cup. As a non governmental
organization, FIFA is required to hold a political objectivity when choosing the
location for each World Cup. Recent allegations of corruption in the location
selection process have brought FIFA s highest members under heavy criticism.
FIFA s current selection process allows countries who want to host the World Cup
to submit bids to FIFA. The bidding process allows for politics to become heavily
integrated into the overall selection process (Plaja, Steffi). Allowing countries to bid
for the ability to host the World Cup provides some countries with a significant
advantage over others to win the bid. FIFA s bidding process has allowed politics
The Constitutional Convention Of The Constitution Essay
In the summer of 1787, the Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia to create a
new government as the one under the Articles of Confederation had failed them.
When drafting the Constitution, the framers wanted a Constitution that would favor
freedom over equality. A way to interpret the meaning of equality in the context of the
Constitution is to see how democratic the Constitution was. The United States
Constitutiontoday has been amended many times to give more democratic aspects to
the federal government, but this the exact opposite that many of the delegates at the
Constitutional Convention thought the federal government should be. The Preamble
of the Constitution even says that they sought to establish a Constitution that would
secure the Blessing of Liberty (P). The framers feared that a more democratic
government would allow for the people to get too strong, so instead they favored a
more republican government. One is able to see how republican of a system of
government the framers sought after by examining how Congressmen and Senators
are chosen and who was qualified to vote for them. The Constitution heavily favored
freedom over equality because the framers purposefully designed it to favor a
representative government, and the design of the U.S. Congress prevented the people
from gaining too much influence in the affairs of the federal government.
The framers of the Constitution wanted to shift to a representative government
because they witnessed with the
Case Study 2 Virginia Funding Formula
Case Study 2: Virginia Funding Formula Analysis
Introduction
Funding for public school systems is a complicated and multifaceted topic. Funding
for public schools comes from federal, state, and local tax dollars, but the percentage
from each category differs from state to state. In this paper I will discuss how the
Commonwealth of Virginiaestablishes the Standards of Quality (SOQ) for education,
funded positions within school systems, how Virginia determines the amount of state
financial support using the Local Composite Index (LCI), and give recommendations
to fix funding shortfalls.
Standards of Qualities The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia
meets biennially, or every two years, and is the governing body responsible for the
SOQ. The SOQ are the minimum state determined requirements for education and
include items such as, but not limited to, textbooks, high school graduation
requirements, and funded positions within a school system ... Show more content on

The Commonwealth of Virginia has determined the SOQ for funded positions to
be 63 positions for every 1,000 students. This sounds great, right? In all actuality,
this is where the the first problem lies. Due to funded positions being composed of
all subject area teachers, office personnel, and administrators the actual number of
required funded positions in the Commonwealth of Virginia is, on average, 78
which forces the localities to fund 15 positions without state assistance. While 15
positions might not sound like a large number, but in all actuality it is when you
figure the cost of paying the salaries of those 15 professionals. For instance, if the
average professional makes $45,000 a year and the locality has to fund 15 positions at
this rate, the locality has an increased burden of $675,000 a year! This is a lot of
money for any locality , but in localities that have a LCI close to 0 it might be
impossible to
The Irish Capital Of Dublin By James Joyce
James Joyce s style of writing is very unique and uncommon when you compare it
to other authors. In Dubliners, possibly one of his most famous pieces of writing
Joyce portrays fifteen passages of life in the Irish capital of Dublin. What makes
Joyce s style of writing different from other authors is that Joyce focuses his writing
on one specific moment in a Dubliner s life, no matter if that moment is only within
a few months, weeks, days, or even within just one night. Joyce s objective within
this collection of passages is to portray to the readers the daily, mundane lives of
those living in Ireland and the problems they face during those specific times in their
lives. Instead of writing, long, elaborate stories with complicated plots, Joyce focuses
his writing on daily situations in which not much appears to happen physically, but a
lot may seem to happen with characters mentally and emotionally. Although these
rather dull moments in the lives of the Dublinersmay not be the most deep and
intense, the characters heartbreaking revelations definitely are. One of his most
popular passages in Dubliners is Araby. In this passage, the narrator, a young boy,
is obsessed with his friend s sister, which lives across the street from him. One day,
when his friend s sister mentions how much she wants to attend the bazaar but
cannot, he finally sees a chance to try to win her over by going to the bazaar on his
own and bringing her back a gift. However, his world comes crashing down
Conflict And Conflict In The Distant Past By William Trevor
The Distant Past is a short story, wrote by William Trevor, addresses the
interweaving of the past and present. At first in the story, it seems as if the past
tensions between the British and Irish have evaporated and happening a good cultural
encounter but later in the story, this assumption proves to be untrue. It depicts the
lives of two descendants of the Protestant Middleton family and Old Irish inhabitants
in a time of the Troublesin the 1970s. The story focuses on the conflict between the
Irish Catholic townspeople and the brother and sister of the Middleton Family, who
are loyal to the Protestant British, and there were the main characters in this story.

Both the inhabitants of the town and Middletons are shocked and unhappy about the
events, they share the same opinion on the situation. At first, it seems that the
violence in the different country will not change the relationship between
Middletons and their friends. But gradually with disappearing the atmosphere of
tolerance and acceptance from the town, and the people losing their fortunes and
they remember the unsettled past. The ideas start to be suspicious towards
Middletons for their affinity with England the lingering connection between the
Middletons, England, and past makes them ostracised again, the same way as they

towards Middletons the same way as they did in the distant past . Then got back
the old animosity of the locals versus Middletons, even though they do not have

and friends. After many years of tolerance and friendship, they become ostracised
the same way as they were in the past. Middletons do not expect that the tolerance

tourists, the source of income to many locals, stop coming to the area because they
are afraid of the violence. The town stops flourishing. As anger rose in the town at
the loss of fortune so there rose also the kind of talk there had been in the distant
past. There was the talk of atrocities and counter atrocities, and of guns and gelignite
and the rights of people . With the loss of prosperity, people start to remember the
violence and suspicions, which they felt in the past. The coming of British soldiers in
Northern Ireland reminds the old times as well. Gradually, the locals stop talking to

Cedar Forest to defeat Humbaba. When Enkidu died, Gilgamesh had to deal with his

second part of his journey was for wisdom. When Gilgamesh had to find

The Epic Of Alexander Pope s The Rape Of The Lock
Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost
all the characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. Alexander Pope s
The Rape of the Lock is a famous mock epic. In it, there is invocation to Muses,
proposition of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, journey on water, underworld
journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all
for a simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand treatment of a
low subject produces hilarious laughter and makes the story more ridiculous.
Firstly, Paradise Lost is a long epic poem by John Milton begins with the proposition
of justification of God s way to man with nice invocation to the Muses. And another
epic poem titled The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser follows the same manner.
The subject matters in both of the epic poems are grand. Like the epic poems, the
poem The Rape of the Lock opens with the proposition of the subject matter and
Pope s invocation to the Muses to help him compose the literary art. Such a grand
treatment of a trivial subject matter like the clipping of the lock of Belinda provokes
laughter when the poet says:
I sing this verse to Caryll, Muse! Is due:
This, ev n Belinda may vouchsafe to view: Secondly, in The Iliad , Homer
describes in considerable detail the armor and weaponry of the great Achilles, as
well as the battlefield trappings of other heroes. In the poem The Rape of the Lock

observation. They modeled their teaching method after TEACCH s methods. The
participants were taught different play skills. This research was conducted for nine

at Jay s development in his ability to interact and engage with other children and
play materials. The observations showed that he was not at the same level of
exploration as other children. At the end of the study, Jay was able to use skills that
were taught to him in the structured teaching setting and was able to apply them to
play situations that were less structured. There was a significant increase in Jay s

Scavenger Hunt Assignment
From my consideration the most useful or applicable to me in completing the

the foundation of the Public Health. It is the place where start to contribute all the
privileges of living longer and healthier by obtains access of healthservices;

and their communities, which will help maintain health, wellness, socioeconomic,

After the civil war finished American economy went through a period of extra
industrial growth. People had started moving into the cities from rural areas, in
hopes of finding work in the factories. As a result Population of New York Chicago

industries, the owners were looking into maximizing their profits anyway they could,
so they cut the workers wages as low as they could. The American dream of Artisan

Comparing Tristan And Isolde Vs. Lancelot And Guinevere
Love can be a person s greatest gift or curse that will bring them to their demise. It
infects their mind, controls their actions and consumes their thoughts with the
singular obsession of being around their love. In the love stories, Tristan and Isolde
and Lancelot and Guinevere, the characters face problems of the soul, and that bring
about monumental repercussions to everyone around them. In both of these works,
the characters experience loving someone out of reach. Their loveis taboo; it will
never be accepted because of their circumstances. This causes a rift in their stream
of normality and forces actions to be made. Love triangles emerge since the
characters are trying to find a way to achieve their goals but still keep what they
have. In both of the stories, Tristan and Isolde love each other similarly to Lancelot
and Guinevere. All they can think about is each other. (insert quote). Lancelot went
behind his king s back to be with Guinevere just like Tristan. Both of them knew that
each of their kings was with the woman they love, but both realized that no matter
what they did their relationship would be forever confined to the shackles of secrecy,
darting glances of affection and sporadic moments of privacy. The relationship
between the enamored men and their kings is different. Tristan was the stepson of the
king, and it hurt him, even more, to see his beloved with his father. While on the
other hand, Lancelot s situation was a little different.

Guest blogging has being touted by some bloggers as a great way to achieve some
kind of recognition and popularity. They say it will open doors for you to reach
new heights in your blogging experience. Let me state here that I m no fan of guess
blogging and lately I don t hear much about it unlike past years. I m sure it s still
going on somewhere in the Blogosphere, but I guess it has gone lame.
The argument is that guest blogging will help generate links, exposure and traffic to
your own blog. Obviously, this is the motivation that got many bloggers posting on
other people s blogs to gain that extra mileage. In a sense, guest bloggers are like
butterflies or grasshoppers.
If you want to move in the fast lane, once you joined the blogging community, you
might think guest blogging would enhance the user experience. But first you ve got
to gain an entry ticket before you re accepted by any other blogger whose site is your
target.
To do that, you have to show that you have got what it takes to write well with great
information, tips and whatever
Humbert Humbert of Lolita and James Gatsby of The
Great...
At first glance, one might find it difficult to draw comparisons between the two
protagonists: James Gatsby, from The Great Gatsby, and Humbert Humbert, from
Lolita. Gatsby s is the tragic story of a self made man who built himself an empire
for a woman who would never love him. Humbert Humbert, on the other hand, is a
manipulative and witty pervert who lusts after the vulgar nymphet, Lolita. Both men
are extremely similar in one key aspect, however. Both Gatsbyand Humberthave
idealized an encounter from their youth and that idealization has become a driving
obsession in each of their lives.
In her essay, Attachment to the Missing Object: Infidelity and Obsessive Love,
Lucinda Williams says that the passion displayed ... Show more content on

Another striking resemblance to William s description of the common form of
obsession stems from the fact that when Humbert meets Annabel, his father is away
touring Italy. He states that he had nobody to complain to, nobody to consult about
sex (11). Instead of speaking to a parental figure about his sexual desire, he tries to
figure it out for himself and in the process projects what he is really missing, a loving
parental figure, onto this adolescent girl.
The relationship between Annabel and Humbert is one marked with sexual
restraint. Humbert describes an important sexual encounter, when they escaped to a
mimosa grove while their chaperones play bridge, in great depth and it is this
encounter that haunts Humbert for the rest of his life. Shortly after this moment,
Annabel is called away by her mother and Humbert never gets to reach his sexual
climax. He also never sees Annabel again because she dies of typhus four months
later. Because of her death, Annabel is kept sacred and perfect in Humbert s
memory. The unsuccessful first tryst plagues the rest of Humbert s relationships with
women. Ellen Pifer reiterates this in her book, Demon and Doll, saying that It is
Humbert s longing for the unattainable, for ideal perfection what he calls the
rosegray never to be had that fires his imagination and fuels his desire for nymphet
beauty (68). This unattainable perfection which Pifer speaks of appears to be the ever
young Annabel.
I Believe In Dancing Through Rain
I believe in dancing in the rain: the kind of rain that makes your clothes become
dripping wet in seconds. The rain that sends a shock through your body when the
first raindrop hits the back of your neck. Then more and more raindrops fall until
every area of your skin is wet and suddenly the feeling of discomfort disappears. I
believe that to reach happiness in life, you have to struggle. I have always struggled
in life, but the times when I have pushed through the struggle, are the times I have
found happiness.
Soon enough you become oblivious to the rain and your arms reach towards the
clouds with a mind of their own, your legs begin to spin. Before you know it, you are
dancing through the rain without a care in the world. Everything in the

He then later dropped out of high school to pursue his dreams and move to Los

show In Living Color. This show was a predominantly Black show with just a
handful of white people. This show gave him the character Fire Marshall Bill,
which showed his craziness and flexibility. Later then he starred in his own movie,
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. This movie was the first to many of his famous ones,
such as Dumb and Dumber, Batman Forever, The Cable Guy, and How the Grinch

all of his dreams come true. Jim Carrey once said, It s better to risk starving to
death then surrender. If you give up on your dreams, what s left? He meant that no

Narrations in third person limited have the ability to strip a character of any
connection to the reader. Take Victor Joseph in Crazy Horse Dreams. A prominent
recurring character, Victor often narrates his own stories, giving readers a clear
view into his thought process and motivations. However, Crazy Horse Dreams,
written in third person limited, does not offer this courtesy. In the story, Victor
rudely rejects an Indian girl whom he believes to be of higher class than him.
Without the immediate relation of first person, Victor s actions become hard to

the poverty they suffered, still suffer, to Victor s mother s forced sterilization, his
father s racist encounters, and their penniless holidays. By capturing the darker
aspects young Victor would not have observed, those brief descriptions expand and

thirteen year old boy is on his way to the police station with his father who is
considered a witness to the murder of Jerry Vincent, a disappeared Indian. It is hinted

The Lasting Effects Of Dehumanization In The Jungle By...
Throughout history, people have been thoroughly mistreated in different societies.
Since there are different social classes, the lower classes are frequently subjected
to harsh conditions by the upper classes. The upperclassmen live more comfortable
lives because they have privileges that the lower classes do not have, such as more
wealth. This means the lower class is forced to work harder to make a living.
Often times, the work the lower classmen are forced to do are extremely straining,
and they are given little in return for their work. This would lead to harmful, lasting
effects on the people of the lower classes. Such dehumanization is meticulously
displayed in The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. Dehumanization is shown all throughout
the novel by the changes in Jurgis (the main character), his family, and other
people around him. To start, Jurgis is put through both mental and physical harsh
conditions in society, making him less human. Even though Jurgis makes money
from his work, it is not enough to support him and his family. There are numerous
times he has to sacrifice eating for his family. The effects of this is explored in
chapter 24, which reads, So Jurgis began, without further parley. He ate as with
two shovels... when he once got started his wolf hunger got the better of him, and
he did not stop for breath until he had cleared every plate, (174). Jurgis is
dehumanized because of his lack of food, so when he has an abundance of it, he

The theme of fear and control is explored in the film through lighting and camera
angles. These film techniques build the theme and depict its role in a dystopian
society effectively. The low camera angle used when Gally is confronting Thomas
portrays Gally as the dominant figure, which emphasises his emotional response to
the Glade being destroyed. Gally has fallen victim to the complete control
W.C.K.D. has over the boys in the Glade. The lighting in this scene is low key and
further emphasises the theme of fear and control by highlighting the fear visible on
Gally s face. The scene of the boys home, the Glade being destroyed in the
background of the confrontation and brings to light the extent of the savagery
present in The Maze Runner. Civilisation and savagery is a theme prevalent
throughout the movie and is represented by the Grievers, a hybrid monster placed
into the Maze by W.C.K.D.to instil fear. During the scene where Newt is talking to
Thomas near the campfire diegetic sounds can be heard of the Maze changing during
the night. The cold, mechanical sounds of stone and metal moving in the background
connotes the kind of civilisation that lies beyond the Maze walls. These sounds
directly contrast the inviting light of the fire which, representing warmth however

First of all, Mina and Lucy are both characters which play an extremely significant
role in the novel, as they are the sole female characters, as well as narrators, which
are described in great detail by Stoker. Stoker often describes Mina and Lucy as
being complete opposites of each other throughout his novel in order to illustrate, as

submissive women, which acted in contrast to the rebellious women who took
several risks and managed to break free from the confining norms and ideals of
their prejudiced society which viewed them as being a danger to the society at

different views on which of the two categories which Stoker believed had existed
during the Victorian Era a woman should fall under, they both manage to
acknowledge the widely accepted belief that men are seen as being more dominant

Lucy mentions to Mina in the novel, My dear Mina, why are men so noble when
we women are so little worthy of them? (Stoker, 86). In addition, Stoker utilizes
Mina in order to illustrate his vision of what an ideal and perfect Victorian woman is

Benefits Of College Education
A college education is one of the most important things in life. It determines
whether you will be able to follow your dreams and have a job that you are
passionate about. Although some people may think that it will lead to more bad
than good and that it will cost the United States a lot of money, college should be
free because it is the only fair way that everyone would be able to have the same
opportunity to get a good educationand it will benefit, not only the students, but the
nation as a whole.
The future of the United States is in the hands of its next generation. Education is
one of, if not, the most important factors that have a great role in deciding whether
the future of America will end up badly or not. As a result, it should be the biggest
priority to make it available for everyone. Many people believe that the education
system is already perfect. However, it does need many improvements that would
make it much more efficient than it is.
The cost of going to college is one of the first things that people think about when
applying to their favorite college. If this price is too high or unaffordable to a
person, many people choose to just ignore education and find a normal job that they
will most likely not enjoy. Excessive prices for the college tuition can also stay with
the student throughout a long period of their life. The debt that they will have
ultimately change their way of living and cause them to not live their life fully.

Process Of Maturation Of Rice Wine
Generally, the process of maturation of rice wine need place it into containers for
several months or one year prior to conducting the accelerated maturation. After one
year, the rice wine was matured by an ultrasonic process. It is can be seen from
figure 1 which is a diagram of the ultrasonic waves. In order to generate ultrasound
energy to the rice wine, a 20 kHz ultrasonic wave generator was used. The ultrasonic
wave generator had piezoelectric chips which generated electrons, then it
accumulated they vibrated to produce ultrasonic waves. The energy of ultrasonic
waves vibrated the rice wines and then using a 10 mm orifice atomizer to force the
rice wines. A 10 mm orifice atomizer was chose since this nozzle amplitude energy
was most suitable in terms of atomizing the bulk wine liquids into a spray of smoke
like mist droplets to fulfill the ultrasonic process. The wine appeared in the form of a
mist and the mist particles were then collected and replicated many times until all
enough for further analyses. All the ultrasonic circulation aging treatments were in
closed chambers to prevent evaporation loss of the wines and assure the best
collection of the misted wines. The rice wine was matured repeatedly by this process
up to 16 times. The matured rice wine were collected after each of the 16 ultrasonic
circulation aging treatments. Alcohol content, pHvalue, gas chromatography
measurements, sensory evaluation, and the time of maturation of matured rice wine
was analyzed.

A Interview On Family Nursing Essay
Family nursing, developed with the intent of improving children s healthcare, is a
shift from the traditional patriarchal method of delivering care to a partnership
among family members (Wells, 2011). In order to implement family centered care,
the nurse must explore the dynamics in which the patient s familyoperates. A major
concern relating to this method of nursing was that nurses simply did not have time
to speak with patients family members and still complete the tasks they were
responsible for (Wright Leahey, 1999). In response to this concern, Wright and
Leahey developed the 15 minute Family Interview.
Application of the 15 Minute Interview
Wright and Leahey describe five key ingredients that make up a successful family
interview: manners, therapeutic conversation, family genogram (and in some
situations an ecomap), therapeutic questions, and commendations (1999, p. 261).
Manners. Hupcey identifies acknowledging the presence of family members,
maintaining eye contact, and referring to the patient and family members by name
as respectful mannerisms that will positively impact the therapeutic conversation
(1998, p. 188). I had met Sadie at church and had some meet and greets during our
breaks where I had the opportunity to build rapport with her. In this instance, I
asked her if she would allow me to interview her and what time she would prefer to
meet. Doing this, I respected her right to decline the interview as well as respected
her time. I respected her right
Muted Group Theory ( Mgt )
Muted Group Theory (MGT) is a critical theory because it is focuses on the power
structure and how it is used against certain people and groups. At times, critical
theories can divide the powerful and the powerless into a number of different
ways. MGT chooses to split the power spectrum into two main categories, men and
women. This MGT helps us to understand any groups that are silenced by the lack
of power in their language. In dominate groups or activity groups, there are
members who have less power that tend to fall silenced. One idea of MGT is that
members of stifled groups may, at least at times, experience a doubtfulness of
existence, seeing reality both as it is experienced from a dominant perspective and
also from their own, muted, perspective. For example, when there is a dominant
language or activity in a group, there are members who have lower power and could
feel silenced because of their lack of knowledge in that language or activity. The two
main components within MGT are dominant and subordinate groups. (Wall) These
are categorized into relationships between men and women.Edwin Shirley Ardener,
two social anthropologists, came up with the idea of MGT in the 1960s.They focused
on the ways that the communication practices of dominant groups suppress, mute, or
devalue the words, ideas, and discourses of subordinate groups . (Kramarae) Cheris
Kramarae took MGT a step further when she brought it into the field of
communication studies. In every group
The Three Levels Of Biodiversity
Biodiversity
What is Biodiversity?
Biodiversity describes the variety of different types of life found on Earth. It is
extent of the variety of organisms present in different ecosystems. This can denote to
genetic variation, ecosystem, variation, or species disparity (number of species)
inside an area, biome, or planet.
Biodiversity is pondered at three levels:
1.Genetic
2.Species
3.Ecosystem
Genetic Diversity
Variation amongst the same species between diverse groups and between versions of
the same gene in different individuals in a population is genetic diversity.

Biodiversity banking places a fiscal value on biodiversity, where the value of
biodiversity can be dignified easily. United Sates, Canada and Australia have already
applied this scheme.
Gene banks are assortments of specimens and genetic material. For animals freezing
storage of sperms and eggs is carried out and for plants storage of seeds or cuttings
from a plant are deposited in zoological freezers
Decline of and better affecting of pesticides allows more species to persist in
agricultural and urbanized areas.
Location specific tactics may be less useful for shielding migratory species. One
methodology is to generate wildlife corridors that resemble to the animals
movements. National and other boundaries can thwart corridor creation. Wildlife
corridors generally link wildlife populations which are generally unglued due to
human activities. This causes greater interaction between species and boosts breeding

Arneson s Argument Of Degradation Of The Surrogate
Anderson s second argument is that of degradation of the surrogate. This thinking
may be true in some cases, but not all. Anderson makes the comparison of surrogates
to a hatchery. Again, Anderson herself degrades surrogates by removing their
autonomy and projecting them as docile and incompetent creatures who cannot enter
into a contract without being exploited. Arneson rebuts this assertion by asking the
question why is it permissible for a womanto act as a surrogate for a friend or family
member (Altruistic Surrogacy) but as soon as money is entered into the equation
(Commercial Surrogacy), it becomes morally unacceptable. Arneson s point that the
exchange of money for the service of surrogacy does not make the practice

Pande tries to shed more light on the economic and psychological empowerment and
opportunity surrogacy has given women. Surrogates are introduced to medical
services that are normally not accessible to them. Over the course of her research,
Pande shifted her position and stated that the practice of surrogacy needs to be
prohibited, and came to view surrogacy as ethical work that needs regulation in order
not to exploit the women and babies. She believes surrogate mothers must be given
the right to organize in labor unions and negotiate with the intended parents.
Pande thinks the long range solution is to relax surrogacy regulation in other
countries so that people don t need to leave their home countries to find surrogate
mothers. She proposed an international model of surrogacy founded on openness and
transparency on three fronts: in the structure of payments, in the medical process, and
in the relationships forged within surrogacy.
CONCLUSION:
Opinion will continue to be divided on whether commercial surrogacy arrangements
devalue children and women in intangible ways. But what has become clear is that
well designed regulation can greatly mitigate most of the potential tangible harms of
surrogacy, and this would seem to be the appropriate function of law in a liberal
society in response to an issue on which no societal consensus
The Executive Branch Of Government Essay
In the United States, the executive branch of government is comprised of the
President, Vice President, and the Cabinet. In addition to acting as the head of
government the President acts as the Commander in Chief and the head of state.
Article II of the Constitution established the general responsibilities and limits of the
President. However, over time the power in the hands of the chief executivehas
expanded. While the United Statesexecutive branch, more specifically the President,
has a substantial amount of power democracy is still upheld.
The chief executive has many responsibilities which require him or her to be
responsible and act quickly and decisively (Ethridge and Handelman pg. 195). One
function of the chief executive is diplomacy meaning being in charge of the
communications and negotiations between national leaders regarding foreign
policy (Ethridge and Handelman pg. 541). The chief executive is responsible for
being a leader in times of crisis. Given their power, they are able to make decisions
and plan government activities quickly. An example of this would be President
Obama s use of drones to kill terrorists. Budget formulation is in the hands of the
chief executive to prevent overspending. This responsibility also gives central control
to the chief executive to make sure that money is spent fairly. It would be
irresponsible to allow legislators to decide who gets what, when they have ties to their
constituents. Another important role of the chief

the fact that there are consequences for what one says. That is a rule that has been

observing (L. Nagel, A.S. Blignaut and J.C. Cronje, 2009). Research by Nagel,

Dorian Gray Research Paper
The many technological advances made during the Victorian Era in England
drastically altered the way scientists, artists, and the public viewed art and aesthetics.
Aesthetics came to be a branch of philosophy that contained a set of principles
concerning nature and appreciation of beauty and art. Due to this change, a European
art movement, known as the Aesthetic Movement, occurred in the late nineteenth
century. This movement was based on the doctrine that art exists for the sake of its
beauty and appreciation alone. Therefore, art did not need to serve any political,
educational, or other purpose. It emphasized the importance of aesthetic values over
moral and social themes in literature and the arts. The movement started as a reaction
to the dominance of scientific thinking and the hostility of the middle class society to
judge whether or not art was useful or teaching morals. One of the most prevalent
values of the movement was suggestion as opposed to statement because no one
could judge or try to reason the creation of any... Show more content on

Editors of the magazine initially felt that the novel was too provocative and
omitted some of the words before it was published without telling Wilde. Even
though the editors worked to keep the work as decent as possible, it still managed
to offend the morally cautious book reviewers in Britain. In their eyes, Wilde
completely disobeyed their society s rules of public morality. Though Wilde
defended his novel and other works of art, his revision and publication of the novel
the following year included even more controversial material than it previously did.
This revised version of The Picture of Dorian Gray was published in 1891 which
included a preface, which included the rights that the artist had and the argument of
creating art for the sake of art itself, rather than for the appeasement of Victorian
A P John Updike Analysis
In John Updike s best known story A P , a tale of a young 19 year old boy name
Sammy, who works in a local supermarket ; A P, as a cashier. Sammy is attempting
to tell the story of why he impulsively quit his job one day. He narratively gives a
very vivid description of everything that happens. Sammy acts decisively when
standing up for what he thinks is right. Standing up for what you believe in is an
essential life skill. Sammy recalls on that day three barefoot teenage girls, in
bathing suits walking into the store. In walks these three girls in nothing but
bathing suits (Updike 1). He ogles them from his work station throughout the store,
and conveys a very clear image of their actions. He categorizes them based on their
looks and what they were wearing. Sammy says things like, There was this chunky
one, with a two piece... , and also ... there was this one, with one of those chubby
berry faces, the lips all bunched together under her nose (Updike 1). The way he
describes the last of the three girls would cause you to grasp the idea that he was
fond of her. He tells us that she was tall with black hair. He goes on to explain that
other girls would think she was very striking and or attractive. He proclaims her as
a queen. Sammy declares, She was a queen ( Updike 1) She kind of led them, the
other two peeking around and making their shoulders round. She didn t look around,
not this queen... (Updike 1). He kids about a girl s mind and how it works. Sammy

  • 2. Taxi Driver Social Disorganization The film Taxi Driver, directed by Martin Scorsese, takes place in New York City during the 1970 s. The main character Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, is a United States Marine returning home after serving his country. Taxi Driver appears to demonstrate the theory of Social Disorganization. The audience can see this throughout the film in scenes where Bickle is driving through the city. As the film continues Bickle appears to struggle with adjusting to such a large city and coping with his sanity. This film takes a look at how Social Disorganization along with a mental illness can contribute to someone s actions and behavior. Travis Bickle is an extremely complex individual. It appears Bickle s mental state is deteriorating after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps and seeing combat action in Vietnam. Bickle seems to be an insomniac unable to sleep at night, part of the reason why he wants to drive a taxi cab at night. Struggling to sleep, Bickle also consumes alcohol at various times of the day. The audience gets a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Martin Scorsese beautifully demonstrates what a socially disorganized city might reflect. Whenever Bickle is driving his taxi cab at night the audience can see prostitution, pimping, assault, robbery, and drug dealing. In the movie one can see that there are really no institutions exhorting their control over society. With a lack of control from institutions such as religion, politics, and school it allows crime to take over and become a societal norm. Bickle sees that crime is rampant within the city and refers to these individuals as scum. It is very apparent that social disorganization has especially taken hold of the inner city, or Zone of Transition, which is where most minorities reside and where most crime occurs. Bickle unfortunately both lives and primarily works in this
  • 3. Observation Paper On Foster Care Observation Paper One day in August 2013 I woke up ate my breakfast got ready for work just like every other day. Not realizing this day was going to change my life forever. Around noon that day I received a call from my wife, she said do you think we can take care of the neighbor s child who was eight months old for a little while. I sat there for a few minutes and then I replied yes that would be alright not realizing that little while would be months to years. I had no knowledge of kinship care, foster care, foster children, or adoption. My wife or I did not even know what the concept was when you have a foster child in your home. This was the first time in over ten years I had been responsible for an infant in my home, throughout all the shock I still was positive that we could help this child and his mother with reunifying and him getting to go home. The first morning I woke up at 5:30 am and made him a bottle and some oatmeal cereal, it became my morning routine with him waking up and feeding him for next few months, before I could sleep till 7:30 or so before heading to work. My wife and I rearranged our lives to welcome another child into our heart and lives. The boy s mother was raised in poverty. Her mother taught her how to use the governmental system and the streets to survive. My wife and I had never been subject to welfare or any government assistance programs before so many things was new to use when we tried to help his mother get back on her feet. I was very shocked to learn that his mother, whom was twenty three years old has never done such things as craving pumpkins, coloring Easter eggs and even putting up a Christmas tree. She was raised in such a different social group then my family. I felt very sorry for her because of her past and wanted to help get her out of the situation she had been raised in. Then a few months had passed and things was not getting any better she had stopped coming and seeing her son and I noticed drug addicts coming and in and out of her house. At that moment, I knew she had fallen a victim to her surroundings. The child s mother had suffered through a very difficult childhood, and at the age of thirteen her own mother had prostituted her out to

The Lakers wasted a fast start (shot 74 percent from the field in the first quarter) and surprisingly competitive first half before the Rockets turned up the heat defensively, dropped a nine 0 scoring run on the purple and gold to start the third quarter en route to a 22 point lead in a 112 95 victory. The Rockets sixth straight win against the Lakers sending the purple and gold into a three game losing skid. However, the game provided some positives in addition to the accompanying and omnipresent negatives. As far as positives; Kobe Bryant had an assist on seven of the Lakers first 12 baskets, passed Lakers legend, NBA Hall of Famer, the logo, Jerry West (6,238), landing in... The Lakers lost their last two games against the Kings, outscored by 62 points (337 275). As a matter of fact in the Lakers last meeting with the Kings on January 6th at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento the purple and gold played one of their better games of the season. The purple and gold down 25 4 five minutes into the game; trailed by as many as 27 prior to mounting an epic comeback. The inspired Lakers posted a 38 point third quarter, outscored the Kings 29 16 in the fourth and led by one point after a tough D Angelo Russell layup nearly completing the franchises third biggest comeback, based on halftime deficit before falling 118 115. The objectivity of FIFA on picking the location of recent World Cups has brought FIFA and its president Sepp Blatter under heavy criticism. FIFA has specifically been criticized regarding the role of politics in objectively picking each World Cup s location (Plaja, Steffi). Objectively picking a World Cup location requires specific criteria for a location to be considered, some countries just do not have the infrastructure among other criteria to host the World Cup. As a non governmental organization, FIFA is required to hold a political objectivity when choosing the location for each World Cup. Recent allegations of corruption in the location selection process have brought FIFA s highest members under heavy criticism. FIFA s current selection process allows countries who want to host the World Cup to submit bids to FIFA. The bidding process allows for politics to become heavily integrated into the overall selection process (Plaja, Steffi). Allowing countries to bid for the ability to host the World Cup provides some countries with a significant advantage over others to win the bid. FIFA s bidding process has allowed politics
  • 6. The Constitutional Convention Of The Constitution Essay In the summer of 1787, the Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia to create a new government as the one under the Articles of Confederation had failed them. When drafting the Constitution, the framers wanted a Constitution that would favor freedom over equality. A way to interpret the meaning of equality in the context of the Constitution is to see how democratic the Constitution was. The United States Constitutiontoday has been amended many times to give more democratic aspects to the federal government, but this the exact opposite that many of the delegates at the Constitutional Convention thought the federal government should be. The Preamble of the Constitution even says that they sought to establish a Constitution that would secure the Blessing of Liberty (P). The framers feared that a more democratic government would allow for the people to get too strong, so instead they favored a more republican government. One is able to see how republican of a system of government the framers sought after by examining how Congressmen and Senators are chosen and who was qualified to vote for them. The Constitution heavily favored freedom over equality because the framers purposefully designed it to favor a representative government, and the design of the U.S. Congress prevented the people from gaining too much influence in the affairs of the federal government. The framers of the Constitution wanted to shift to a representative government because they witnessed with the
  • 7. Case Study 2 Virginia Funding Formula Case Study 2: Virginia Funding Formula Analysis Introduction Funding for public school systems is a complicated and multifaceted topic. Funding for public schools comes from federal, state, and local tax dollars, but the percentage from each category differs from state to state. In this paper I will discuss how the Commonwealth of Virginiaestablishes the Standards of Quality (SOQ) for education, funded positions within school systems, how Virginia determines the amount of state financial support using the Local Composite Index (LCI), and give recommendations to fix funding shortfalls. While 15 positions might not sound like a large number, but in all actuality it is when you figure the cost of paying the salaries of those 15 professionals. For instance, if the average professional makes $45,000 a year and the locality has to fund 15 positions at this rate, the locality has an increased burden of $675,000 a year! This is a lot of money for any locality , but in localities that have a LCI close to 0 it might be impossible to
  • 8. The Irish Capital Of Dublin By James Joyce James Joyce s style of writing is very unique and uncommon when you compare it to other authors. In Dubliners, possibly one of his most famous pieces of writing Joyce portrays fifteen passages of life in the Irish capital of Dublin. What makes Joyce s style of writing different from other authors is that Joyce focuses his writing on one specific moment in a Dubliner s life, no matter if that moment is only within a few months, weeks, days, or even within just one night. Joyce s objective within this collection of passages is to portray to the readers the daily, mundane lives of those living in Ireland and the problems they face during those specific times in their lives. Instead of writing, long, elaborate stories with complicated plots, Joyce focuses his writing on daily situations in which not much appears to happen physically, but a lot may seem to happen with characters mentally and emotionally. Although these rather dull moments in the lives of the Dublinersmay not be the most deep and intense, the characters heartbreaking revelations definitely are. One of his most popular passages in Dubliners is Araby. In this passage, the narrator, a young boy, is obsessed with his friend s sister, which lives across the street from him. One day, when his friend s sister mentions how much she wants to attend the bazaar but cannot, he finally sees a chance to try to win her over by going to the bazaar on his own and bringing her back a gift. However, his world comes crashing down

The Epic Of Alexander Pope s The Rape Of The Lock Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock is a famous mock epic. In it, there is invocation to Muses, proposition of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, journey on water, underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand treatment of a low subject produces hilarious laughter and makes the story more ridiculous. Firstly, Paradise Lost is a long epic poem by John Milton begins with the proposition of justification of God s way to man with nice invocation to the Muses. And another epic poem titled The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser follows the same manner. The subject matters in both of the epic poems are grand. Like the epic poems, the poem The Rape of the Lock opens with the proposition of the subject matter and Pope s invocation to the Muses to help him compose the literary art. Such a grand treatment of a trivial subject matter like the clipping of the lock of Belinda provokes laughter when the poet says: I sing this verse to Caryll, Muse! It infects their mind, controls their actions and consumes their thoughts with the singular obsession of being around their love. In the love stories, Tristan and Isolde and Lancelot and Guinevere, the characters face problems of the soul, and that bring about monumental repercussions to everyone around them. In both of these works, the characters experience loving someone out of reach. Their loveis taboo; it will never be accepted because of their circumstances. This causes a rift in their stream of normality and forces actions to be made. Love triangles emerge since the characters are trying to find a way to achieve their goals but still keep what they have. In both of the stories, Tristan and Isolde love each other similarly to Lancelot and Guinevere. All they can think about is each other. (insert quote). Lancelot went behind his king s back to be with Guinevere just like Tristan. Both of them knew that each of their kings was with the woman they love, but both realized that no matter what they did their relationship would be forever confined to the shackles of secrecy, darting glances of affection and sporadic moments of privacy. The relationship between the enamored men and their kings is different. Tristan was the stepson of the king, and it hurt him, even more, to see his beloved with his father. While on the other hand, Lancelot s situation was a little different.

Another striking resemblance to William s description of the common form of obsession stems from the fact that when Humbert meets Annabel, his father is away touring Italy. He states that he had nobody to complain to, nobody to consult about sex (11). Instead of speaking to a parental figure about his sexual desire, he tries to figure it out for himself and in the process projects what he is really missing, a loving parental figure, onto this adolescent girl. The relationship between Annabel and Humbert is one marked with sexual restraint. Humbert describes an important sexual encounter, when they escaped to a mimosa grove while their chaperones play bridge, in great depth and it is this encounter that haunts Humbert for the rest of his life. Shortly after this moment, Annabel is called away by her mother and Humbert never gets to reach his sexual climax. He also never sees Annabel again because she dies of typhus four months later. Because of her death, Annabel is kept sacred and perfect in Humbert s memory. The unsuccessful first tryst plagues the rest of Humbert s relationships with women. Ellen Pifer reiterates this in her book, Demon and Doll, saying that It is Humbert s longing for the unattainable, for ideal perfection what he calls the rosegray never to be had that fires his imagination and fuels his desire for nymphet beauty (68). This unattainable perfection which Pifer speaks of appears to be the ever young Annabel.

Since there are different social classes, the lower classes are frequently subjected to harsh conditions by the upper classes. The upperclassmen live more comfortable lives because they have privileges that the lower classes do not have, such as more wealth. This means the lower class is forced to work harder to make a living. Often times, the work the lower classmen are forced to do are extremely straining, and they are given little in return for their work. This would lead to harmful, lasting effects on the people of the lower classes. Such dehumanization is meticulously displayed in The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. Dehumanization is shown all throughout the novel by the changes in Jurgis (the main character), his family, and other people around him. To start, Jurgis is put through both mental and physical harsh conditions in society, making him less human. Even though Jurgis makes money from his work, it is not enough to support him and his family. There are numerous times he has to sacrifice eating for his family. Stoker often describes Mina and Lucy as being complete opposites of each other throughout his novel in order to illustrate, as well as act in contrast, to the two distinctly different categories of women which he had believed to exist in the Victorian Era which was the society s ideal, innocent and submissive women, which acted in contrast to the rebellious women who took several risks and managed to break free from the confining norms and ideals of their prejudiced society which viewed them as being a danger to the society at large. Furthermore, despite the fact that Mina and Lucy both hold completely different views on which of the two categories which Stoker believed had existed during the Victorian Era a woman should fall under, they both manage to acknowledge the widely accepted belief that men are seen as being more dominant , as compared to women, in the eyes of their Victorian society. For instance, when Lucy mentions to Mina in the novel, My dear Mina, why are men so noble when we women are so little worthy of them? (Stoker, 86). In addition, Stoker utilizes Mina in order to illustrate his vision of what an ideal and perfect Victorian woman is like. For example, in Stoker s novel, Van

A Interview On Family Nursing Essay Family nursing, developed with the intent of improving children s healthcare, is a shift from the traditional patriarchal method of delivering care to a partnership among family members (Wells, 2011). In order to implement family centered care, the nurse must explore the dynamics in which the patient s familyoperates. A major concern relating to this method of nursing was that nurses simply did not have time to speak with patients family members and still complete the tasks they were responsible for (Wright Leahey, 1999). In response to this concern, Wright and Leahey developed the 15 minute Family Interview. Application of the 15 Minute Interview Wright and Leahey describe five key ingredients that make up a successful family interview: manners, therapeutic conversation, family genogram (and in some situations an ecomap), therapeutic questions, and commendations (1999, p. 261). • 35. Muted Group Theory ( Mgt ) Muted Group Theory (MGT) is a critical theory because it is focuses on the power structure and how it is used against certain people and groups. At times, critical theories can divide the powerful and the powerless into a number of different ways. MGT chooses to split the power spectrum into two main categories, men and women. This MGT helps us to understand any groups that are silenced by the lack of power in their language. In dominate groups or activity groups, there are members who have less power that tend to fall silenced. One idea of MGT is that members of stifled groups may, at least at times, experience a doubtfulness of existence, seeing reality both as it is experienced from a dominant perspective and also from their own, muted, perspective. For example, when there is a dominant language or activity in a group, there are members who have lower power and could feel silenced because of their lack of knowledge in that language or activity. The two main components within MGT are dominant and subordinate groups. (Wall) These are categorized into relationships between men and women.Edwin Shirley Ardener, two social anthropologists, came up with the idea of MGT in the 1960s.They focused on the ways that the communication practices of dominant groups suppress, mute, or devalue the words, ideas, and discourses of subordinate groups . (Kramarae) Cheris Kramarae took MGT a step further when she brought it into the field of communication studies. In every group

Anderson makes the comparison of surrogates to a hatchery. Again, Anderson herself degrades surrogates by removing their autonomy and projecting them as docile and incompetent creatures who cannot enter into a contract without being exploited. Arneson rebuts this assertion by asking the question why is it permissible for a womanto act as a surrogate for a friend or family member (Altruistic Surrogacy) but as soon as money is entered into the equation (Commercial Surrogacy), it becomes morally unacceptable. Pande tries to shed more light on the economic and psychological empowerment and opportunity surrogacy has given women. Surrogates are introduced to medical services that are normally not accessible to them. Over the course of her research, Pande shifted her position and stated that the practice of surrogacy needs to be prohibited, and came to view surrogacy as ethical work that needs regulation in order not to exploit the women and babies. She believes surrogate mothers must be given the right to organize in labor unions and negotiate with the intended parents. Pande thinks the long range solution is to relax surrogacy regulation in other countries so that people don t need to leave their home countries to find surrogate mothers. She proposed an international model of surrogacy founded on openness and transparency on three fronts: in the structure of payments, in the medical process, and in the relationships forged within surrogacy. CONCLUSION: Opinion will continue to be divided on whether commercial surrogacy arrangements devalue children and women in intangible ways. But what has become clear is that well designed regulation can greatly mitigate most of the potential tangible harms of surrogacy, and this would seem to be the appropriate function of law in a liberal society in response to an issue on which no societal consensus

Article II of the Constitution established the general responsibilities and limits of the President. However, over time the power in the hands of the chief executivehas expanded. While the United Statesexecutive branch, more specifically the President, has a substantial amount of power democracy is still upheld. Aesthetics came to be a branch of philosophy that contained a set of principles concerning nature and appreciation of beauty and art. Due to this change, a European art movement, known as the Aesthetic Movement, occurred in the late nineteenth century. This movement was based on the doctrine that art exists for the sake of its beauty and appreciation alone. Therefore, art did not need to serve any political, educational, or other purpose. It emphasized the importance of aesthetic values over moral and social themes in literature and the arts.
