Larry Bird Essay
Many dream of becoming an all star. Having the movie like transformation from being a lowly,
small town boy and turning into a true legend. One of the few that lived this was Larry Bird.
Larry would grow from a small town boy in Indiana to transforming and becoming one of the
National Basketball Association s, or NBA s best players of all time. Through Larry Bird s early
life, his college years, his NBA glory and rivals, and his life post NBA all come into account when
understanding the greatness of this true NBA legend.
Larry Bird grew up young and poor in French Lick, Indiana, just outside of West Baden. He was
born on December 7, 1956 (1). Larry s family was poor, just like all of the other families in his
town (2). As one of six siblings, Larry had to compete and fight for everything he got. His original

They needed a dynamic player like Larry who could carry them, and Larry did (3). Larry won
rookie of the year his first season, and led the Celtics to a 64 18 record, but lost to Philadelphia
in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Celtics really needed someone who could assist Bird
and take the load off of him, so they acquired two post players, Kevin McHale and Robert
Parrish. With the trio of greatness, the Celtics easily surpassed anything that other teams tried to
throw at them, winning the title in the 1980 81 season (3). The Celtics acquired Dennis Johnson
after the 1982 season, a point guard that Larry liked. Dennis was the missing piece the Celtics
had been longing for. They had the post and wing talent, but they needed a ball handler. In the
1983 84 the Celtics faced a foe they hadn t seen in the finals before, the Los Angeles Lakers. The
Lakers team was jam packed with all star talent, but one in particular Larry had seen before. And
that person was Magic Johnson. The Celtics and Bird beat the Lakers and Magic that year, but
Magic was looking for

Are The Four Components Of Marriott s Financial Strategy...
1) Are the four components of Marriott s financial strategy consistent with its growth objective?
a) It is advisable to manage than to own as it is consistent with the growth strategy. In this manner,
mar riot can attract additional capital that gives it an opportunity to even invest more in the future,
share the risks with limited partners. The partnership can be of great benefit as it is a good way of
saving on taxes.
b) The decision to invest in projects increases the shareholders value of the company. This is
consistent with the growth and from the NPV criteria, positive NPV of projects increases the
shareholder s value.
c) Optimization of the capital structure is also consistent with the growth of the company. The

How does Marriott use its estimate of its cost of capital? Does this make sense?
a) Discounted cash flows from the projects by the suitable division of a hurdle rate to get the net
present value which financially makes sense since risks among different divisions do vary.
b) Another method is through incorporation of the hurdle rate in the compensation policy which in
sense does not make sense since the rate does reflect risks of different activities and not managers
performance.
3. What is the weighted average cost of capital for Marriott Corporation?
Marriot Corporation measures the opportunity cost of the cost of capital for the investments using
the weighted average cost of capital for similar investments that have the same risk. The WACC for
the corporation is 11.89%.
a)What risk free rate and the risk premium did you use to calculate the cost of equity?
For the purposes of risk premium consistency, the arithmetic average was most applicable to the
historic US government bonds of 4.58% for the longest period because of its accurate estimate.
The risk premium used is 7.43% though it seems to be high, low free rate compensates it.
For the calculation of equity, beta is a necessity because there is no comparison that matches its
operational profile. Beta 1.17 ke = (4.58%+1.17) =

Human Weakness in Macbeth and Othello
Macbeth is one of the best known plays written by Shakespeare in the 17th century, Jacobean
period. It was the period where the belief in supernatural was greatly held and king James I
himself, the author of Divine rights of king adhered in witchcraft and openly practiced the idea of
kings being God s representatives on earth, so to even complain about them was a sin. The tragic
hero, brave and valiant Macbethhad all the required characteristics of the ideal Scottish soldier;
valorous and gallant but he is bound to have a tragic flaw which he is powerless over and the cause
of his inevitable death, his vaulting ambition and greed. We then have our other tragedy Othello,
which is unique in the literature of time because he was the first... Show more content on

In Macbeth, Duncan and the soldiers call him valiant and brave , Othello is also referred to as
valiant and brave by the duke and Montana. Moreover, as we see Macbeth leading the big battle,
Othello is reserved by the leaders of Venice who depend on him to fight the biggest battle. He is
employed to do so which means he is chosen and his skills and qualities are valued therefore the
verb employed is used to convey his importance in the society to the audience. Initially, Shakespeare
presents the protagonists as impeccable heroes and suggests to the audience nothing can go wrong
in the play.
In comparison, Shakespeare uses a significant quote which foreshadows Othello s tragic fall
later in the play. When Barbantio warns Othello she has deceived her father and may thee it
shows the audience how hurt he is by her deception and warns Othello that if Desdemona can
betray her father, whom she has known all her life she can easily betray Othello, This strong
point foreshadows Othello s murderous suspicion. Shakespeare also used the character of Iago to
not only show how trusting Othello is but also how poor of a judgement he makes. The repetition
of honest Iago by Othello warns the audience how Othello s poor judgements will lead him to his
downfall as they first see Iago slandering against Othello, so they are warned he is duplicitous
beforehand. Another way Shakespeare presents Othello s tragic fall

I Want To Be Opening Page
1. Opening Credits I Don t Want To Be by Gavin DeGraw I chose this specific song as my
opening credits because it is one of my favorite songs from my favorite TV show, One Tree Hill.
Every time I watched this show on Netflix, I never skipped the intro because of this song. It
always has a way of putting me in a good mood and singing to the top of my lungs. The beat isn t
the only thing that draws me to this song, the lyrics have such a positive meaning describing
how I can be anything I want to be. In high school it s all about deciding what you want to be when
you graduate and for many of us, that s a hard decision. At this age, many of us don t even know
our own selves. After going through 4 years of high school, I learned alot about me and who I want
to be. Well all I want to be is me. 2. Waking Up Wake Me Up by Avicii There s really no other song
to describe how I feel in the morning except for this one. I am not a morning person, especially
when I have to get up early to get ready. I know that in order to get my day going I have to wake up

top of my lungs. The meaning behind it relates to me so much cause every time I see my ex I
tried to make it seem I was better off without him, but deep down I was hurting. This song just
has a way of describing how I felt after my first breakup and making it into great hit on the radio.

Edward Theodore Gein
Edward Theodore Gein (1906 1984), known as The Butcher of Plainfield, was an American serial
killer guilty of the murder of at least two women between 1947 and 1957.
Ed Gein was such a controversial and disturbing figure that his story inspired a lot of plots for
thriller movies and books, such as the character of Norman Bates in Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock
and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs, a novel by Thomas Harris.
The life of Ed Gein was significantly marked by several factors: he spent his childhood with
George, an alcoholic and absent father, and Augusta, an overprotective and extremely religious
mother, obsessed by the idea that the world was populated by impure and sinful people. Ed had to

The definition of attachment involves an affectional bond that infants need to form with a
differentiated and preferred individual that becomes an attachment figure, consisting in a sustained
nurturing relationship with the sensitive caregiver (Bowlbly, 1979). Attachment is conceptualized
as an evolutionary feature: individuals can create a secure base around which one is able to
explore and gain independence as well as a safe haven to which individuals can return and be
reassured in a situation of distress or danger (Ainsworth et al., 1978; Bowlby, 1969).
On the contrary, unresponsive or atypical ways of parenting can lead to aberrant behaviours or, if
others risk factors are present, to psychopathology (Jacobsen, Edelstein, Hoffman, 1994; Schaffer,
1996). Secure attachment with the primary caregiver is necessary for social and emotional
regulation as well as cognitive and resilience abilities(Bowlby, 1982; Ainsworth Bell,1970); insecure
attachment affects individuals life in many aspects, especially the ability to face distress (Macbeth
et al., 2011), and not too rarely the aftermaths of an insane attachment can culminate in personality
disorders (Crawford et al.,

Dependency of curd mass on four different types of milk (Non Fat, Low Fat, Reduced Fat, Whole)
using lemon juice
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if lemon juice would cause the different fat levels
in milk to affect the curd mass.
Background Information
The major components of milk are water, fat, proteins, lactose, carbohydrates, and minerals
(dairyprocessinghandbook.com) with the main proteins in milk being casein and whey. When the
casein protein separates from the whey, fat, and lactose in the milk, the product is micellar casein.
These micelles have a negative charge, are not soluble in water and moreover, repel each other,
which keeps them suspended in the milk solution.

Research Paper On Richard Branson
Richard Branson Innovation happens when people are given the freedom to ask questions and
the resources and power to find the answers. (Richard Branson) Richard Branson lived a
troubled, yet successful life. He is an inspiration to people all over the world. To me, Branson is
living proof that even if you fail, you can still succeed if you have the mindset and will to do so.
Richard Bransonhad three children by the names of Sam Branson, Holly Branson, and Clare
Sarah Branson. He s had two wives. In 1972 1979, he was married to a woman named Kristin

parents brought me up with this philosophy, Branson has said, as quoted by Fred Goodman for
Vanity Fair (May 1992): You must do things you mustn t watch what other people are doing; you
mustn t listen to what other people are doing. Branson took this advice seriously and he ended up
doing more sports than studying. His academic performance was poor. Branson s dyslexia did not

Social Psychological Theories of Aggression Essay
Social Psychological Theories of Aggression
Social learning theorists propose that behaviour, such as aggression is learnt through observation,
imitation and behaviour shaping. This behaviour is learnt automatically through observation of
male and female role models, for example parents, peers and media characters. Whether or not this
behaviour is imitated depends on the type of reinforcement that the role model receives.
Vicarious reinforcement involves the outcome of a role models behaviour, for example if a child
observes a parent acting aggressively and receiving positive rewards for they are more like to be
imitate this behaviour in the future, than they would be if the role model ... Show more content on

This supports the Social Learning Theories of aggression as the children learnt through observation
of the role model, imitation of their behaviour and behaviour shaping. Also they received sweets
and praise as a form of positive vicarious reinforcement thus meaning that there was a chance of
repetition of the aggressive behaviour outside the laboratory setting. The vicarious reinforcement is
also a direct consequence that will have an effect on the chances of the child repeating the
behaviour. As if the child was punished they would have been less likely to act aggressively again.
On the other hand, it is possible to say that the children were manipulated into responding
aggressively towards the BoBo Doll as they were teased and may have become frustrated
because they could not touch the toys even though they had to watch the role models playing
however it is not actually stated how long the children remained aggressive for. The experiment
can be said to be unethical and morally wrong because the children were trained to be aggressive,
as they were probably not used to watching adults behave some immaturely. Also as the
experiment was preformed in a laboratory it therefore lacks eco logical validity, as it may not have
real life consequences.
Another study that supports the Social Learning Theories of aggression is Patterson et al (1989).

Video Games Do Not Encourage Violence Essay
Video games and violence
Over the years, the popularity of computer and video games has grown. Specifically violent video
games make up more than 50 % of the top selling games. These games include violent themes that
involve guns, crime, blood, and gore. There is an ongoing belief that these types of games are to
blame for the many acts of violence in society and have encouraged America s youth to act out in
aggression. Several organizations, such as the PTC (Parents Television Council) have moved to
discourage the development of violent games while also pushing for stronger regulations when
purchasing such games. There is also debate among parents and concerns on how games can
negatively influence their children. So is there a direct link between video games and violence?
The truth is video games do not encourage violence in society based on several factors which
include scientific studies, statistics on crime, and prevention measures adopted by game publishers.
Scientific Studies There have been several scientific studies to determine if video games do in fact
contribute to violence. One study was conducted by experimental psychologist in 2015 at the
Oxford Internet Institute at Oxford University. Lead by Dr. Andy Przybykaski, the study included
research to observe the behaviors of children during social gaming. Dr. Przybykaski also wanted to
review the affects gaming had on education performance in school. One part of the study found that
found that children who play

is less time consuming and more economical. Assessment In this article, they talked about fast
freezing and slow freezing of the embryo after the flush. The size of the embryo effects the
success rate during the freezing and thawing process. If the mare isn t flushed between six and

Analysis Of The Hay Wain By John Constable
The piece by John Constable, caught my attention with its complexity and darkness. The artwork
appears to have been painted with oil due to the ability to capture the colors, although they are
not rich. When painting with oil, the artist can show off interesting brush strokes and create
beautiful softness. The horse carriage in the river brought a sense of wonder upon viewing the
piece. What happened, why are they in the river? The home alongside of the water, and the dog
along the shore made me curious as well. There is evidently history in this piece and a story to
tell. A2. Aspect of Interest The aspect that grabbed my interest the most is the horse and carriage in
the water. The title of the piece, The Hay Wain , is obviously... Show more content on

Prior to the 19th century, most of the world s economies had been largely based on agriculture.
Farming was a laborious enterprise, and resulted in the vast majority of people to reside in the
rural communities. The economy shifted, and industrialization basically remade every aspect of
society. During the industrial revolution, new efficiencies caused people to migrate to the cities,
otherwise they were faced with unemployment. Those that relocated, experienced urban culture,
leisure and middle class status. The transition was horrific for the poor miserable housing,
unclean water, and minimal heal care. According to some art historians, Constable was
responding to shifts. As the cities grew, those who had become rich from the industrial boom,
began to look to the countryside as a dream, a place where the water and air was pure, a place of
one s childhood. Constable s art was intended for the wealthy urban elite, permitting them to
escape the evils of modern urban life through his landscapes. B4. Relevance of the Work
Constable s The Hay Wain provides the modern world with the same escape though art as it did
during its originality. He paints an image of fresh air, billowy clouds, shapely trees and humble
times. In the current period, we are so drawn to the screen, failing in finding the beauty of nature. It
isn t necessarily true that artwork has lost its place, it is that the

Democracy And The United States Government
The United States Government is defined in many different ways. The most common that we hear
are the forms of democracy and republic. Although very similar, these are very loose terms when it
comes to categorizing our government. The respect for human rights and involvement of the nation
s people have been a main priority in the running of the governmentsince the beginning.
Unfortunately, over time, we are seeing our freedoms and individual participation in the
governments decisions slowly declining in many aspects. This makes us question the government
and our ultimates rights as citizens that we currently have. The support we have for democracyis our
support towards religious freedom, worker rights, and also helps create a more stable and affluent
system that manages our nation s control and gives us the ability to have a bigger voices around
the world.
In general, a democracy is a form of government that gives power to the people. There are various
forms that specify the amount of power and to whom it is admitted. A direct democracy is a form
of government in which the people decide policy matters directly (Mott 1), for example voting on
ballot referendums or attending town hall meetings. The people make the policies and complete
decisions based on majority rule. The nation s vast geography makes a direst democracy difficult.
This term often gets confused with a representative democracy, which is the United States form of
government. A representative democracy is

The Multinational Corporation Boom And Its Reasons
In this paper the multinational corporation boom and its reasons are investigated and then the
challenges which these corporations encounter will be discussed.
There are certain reasons associated with the rapid growth of multinational corporations during the
last 50 years. Including but not limited to globalization, information technology telecommunication,
deregulations and worldwide market liberalization and the operation in the emerging economies
and the growth opportunity in these countries.
Globalization)
Globalization is the process of international integration caused by the exchange of products, ideas
and other aspects of the culture in a global scale. Scholars still disagree whether the globalization
caused the inception of multinational corporations or vice versa. Although globalization is the
phenomena which belongs to the modern era, the earliest samples of multinational corporations
could be traced back to 17th century Dutch and English India companies. Therefore it is generally
believed that multinational corporations are both a cause and a result of the globalization process.
The globalization has manifested itself in the interdependence of national economies and financial
markets. There are different dimensions for the growth of multinational corporations in
globalization era. The economic dimension of the multinational corporation growth can be
presented through the numbers; including the fact that approximately 33% of the world trade

Rachel and I first disagreed on what happened to Aisha and why it happened. As objective as one

Aristotle Honorable
The definition of Honorable can be defined in many ways. But in this case it means to have high
respect for that one person. To me it means to show respect for that person or that topic. Although
he was not a scientist by today s standards, science was one of the many things he studied during
his time at school as a teacher. His study included the study of biology, marine biology and
Meteorology. He studied in many fields of science. He was a big scientist of his time. (384 322BC)
He is famous for his introduction to the scientific methodand is also known for providing important
term of science called empiricism . Aristotle composed over 200 works but only 31 survived.
Although he never was rewarded with an award, there was an award named after him. During his

Slaughterhouse-Five Vonnegut
Throughout Slaughterhouse Five, Vonnegut chooses to use special literary techniques that better
explain his own encounters in war as well as help his readers bare the horridness of war.
Vonnegut adds black humor in his text to benefit readers as well as an author as character
perspective to set barriers and help protect his own memories in the war. Without adding these two
specific devices, Vonnegut could possibly have lost reader s interests in the book or lost his own
interest in writing the book. Vonnegut includes himself in scenes within Slaughterhouse Five to

Another literary device Vonnegut uses within his Slaughterhouse Five is black humor. This is
found in the book so readers are able to feel more lighthearted when remembering the war. There
are though, critics who believe by adding black humor, Vonnegut is degrading the tragedy of
war. I believe Vonnegut uses black humor in his attempt to console readers (as well as himself),
in hopes of making the horrific, painful, unthinkable events of the war more bearable to read
about. Just in the first chapter readers see Mary O Hare s frustration towards Vonnegut for even

How to Do Business in Argentina Essay
A. HOW TO DO BUSINESS IN ARGENTINA
International Management
April 20, 2006
B. Summary
The main goal for the project How to do business in Argentina was to show how a Multinational
Company must approach different aspects like government, laws, society, culture and infrastructure
when facing the challenge of doing business in other countries.
First, we will do a short review of some important background aspects such as its geography, its
localization and main geographical characteristics. We will also analyze historical events and
political factors that influenced society, culture, economy and development of the country. The
government system, economic factors such as inflation and GDP, technological factors and labor

Despite the introduction of several tough economic austerity programs by 2001 the recession slid
into its third year and Argentina was bankrupt. The IMF gave Argentina $13.7 billion in emergency
aid in January, 2001 and $8 billion in August, 2001. The international help was not enough however
and Argentina verged on economic collapse forcing it to default on its $141 billion foreign debt
payment which was the largest such default in history.
On January, 2002 after more instability the government announced an economic plan devaluing the
Argentine peso which had been pegged to the dollar for a decade. The devaluation plunged the
banking industry into crisis, caused unemployment to reach 20% and wiped out much of the
savings of the middle class, plunging millions of Argentineans into poverty.
NГ©stor Kirchner became Argentina s president in May 2003. Kirchner has vowed to
aggressively reform the courts, police, and armed services, and to repeal amnesty laws for
perpetrators of the dirty war. Argentina s economy has been rebounding since its near collapse in
2001, with an impressive growth rate of about 8% since President Kirchner took office. But doubts
have been raised about efforts at repaying its record public debt default.

The Ethical Decision Making Model
Throughout the last century, The Unites States of America has been affectionately dubbed, the
melting pot. Although our Western culture was built on a multicultural foundation, we have
nevertheless failed, to embrace many of the needs, views, and perspectives specific to those not
considered part of the dominant White Western culture. Only in recent decades have we truly started
to address this gap and the needs associated with serving others from a culturally sensitive
standpoint. The American Counseling Association (ACA) has slowly adapted to these needs by
integrating culturally sensitive language in the ACA Code of Ethics; however, culture permeates
every aspect and every level of the counseling process and does not stand alone.... Show more

I found myself in a very similar situation several years ago when I scheduled my first couples
session. Just like Alayah, I was interested in offering couples counseling, had attended trainings
and workshops to learn how to effectively work with couples, and was trying hard to build a
clientele. Based on my initial phone consultation with the wife, I felt fairly confident that I was
well prepared for our first session together. This experience, however, taught me a humbling and
valuable lesson. I assumed that couples counseling was similar to individual counseling with two
clients instead of one, but I quickly learned that it is a whole different beast!
At the completion of Alayah s first session, she felt seriously conflicted and doubted her ability to
competently work with the couple. She questioned whether it was ethical to continue seeing the
couple. I had many of these same musings. I began to question whether I had scheduled them for
the right reasons. Did I really think I could help them? Was I just looking to add more clients?
What do I do now? I remember thinking that I wanted to do whatever was best for the couple; that
was my primary responsibility!

My clients were a male and a female, both African American in their mid 40s. They stated that they

In 1930, in North Corbin, Kentucky, the Shell Oil Company offered a man named Harland David

Sanders began to serve chicken in his adjacent living quarters. In 1935 Sanders became Colonel

Abstract
I am writing this paper on the court case of Hudson District School vs. Rowley. I will discuss
those involved in the case, what issues brought this case to trial, how and when the case was
adjudicated, and the final outcome of the trial. I will also tell how I feel about this case and what it
accomplished for the education system. Every student has the right to have an individual education

As the law states an IEP was prepared for Amy after her completion of her first year. The
Individualized Education Plan that was customized to meet Amy s needs stated that she was to
utilize the FM transmitter; she was also to have a tutor for the deaf meet with her daily for an
hour to get directions and was also to meet with a speech therapist three times a week. Amy s
parents agreed with parts of her IEP but also felt that Amy needed a sign language instructor in
every one of her classes. Amy did receive a therapist for a two week trial while attending
kindergarten but it was decided she did not need this service in order to do her studies.
The Hendrick Hudson school district s Committee on the Handicapped, had heard Amy s parents
expert evidence that stated Amy needed the interpreter, the Committee on the Handicapped also
spoke with Amy s teachers, and visited a class for the deaf. The committee denied their request for
a sign interpreter. When Amy s parents received news that their request for an interpreter had been
denied they demanded and received an administrative hearing. (Weber, M. C., 2012). The hearing
officer agreed with the administrators upon completion of the evidence presented by both sides.
The hearing officer stated that once reviewing the evidence it was clear that Amy did not need an

Elementary Hosts Popcorn At School
Every other Friday, Cascades Elementary hosts Popcorn Friday in their cafeteria. Volunteers come
and help make, bag, and distribute the salty snack to the classrooms. The line goes popcorn
machine, empty bags, bag folders and tape placers, finished bags, and classroom totes. However, to
make the line flow easily, the line might go; empty bags, popcornmachine, bag folders, tapers,
finished bags in lines of five, and the classroom totes that are brought up from the classroom. This
suggested lineup requires a volunteerto open bags and place them so the popcorn machine volunteer
is able to reach the paper bags, and possibly a couple more volunteers to ensure the supplies needed
never runs out and the flow is maintained. Unfortunately, many parents with nothing to do on
Fridays do not come to help.
On Popcorn Day, the volunteers meet at Cascades Elementary at eight in the morning in the
cafeteria after dropping their children off at school. One volunteer begins to heat up the popcorn
maker and make popcorn while a second volunteer sets out bags and a third sets out strips of tape
along the side of the table. After classes begin, the teacher selects two students to take the class

popcorn. Once the students hand one of the volunteers the class tote and popcorn money, the
students are able to go back to class. The average popcorn bags requested by each classroom is

This documentary caught my attention right from the opening lines. People, in general, do not
like to admit when they are wrong, so when the narrator began by claiming that the entire set of
beliefs he had grown up with and lived his life by were wrong and untrue it made me stop and
consider how that would affect a person. To have your entire way of thinking be proven invalid
would be an unsettling situation to put it simply. I could not begin to imagine how that would feel,

Taking a Closer Look at Phisics
Physics. Not something you really hear every day. It s not something you really want to hear
either, right? Why is it that when we hear the word physics, it s just a major turnoff. People may
even hear the word and just think get me out of here , even though they may not have the
slightest clue of what it s about. Some people do have a slight clue and think molecules or
gravity, atoms or Bohr, laws or life, and still may not quite grasp it, but at least have a slight clue.
Others, think wasted time and irrelevance, how it kicked their a** in both high school and college.
Then the people who really can t comprehend, think goofy white people. To all of this you could
say that people tend to dislike what they cannot understand. Physics. The branch of science
concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy. Physics, is what you will be
informed of today.
As we ve already stated in the definition, physics is the natural science that involves the study of
matter and its motion through space and time. So first off, matter, the building block of the
universe, is any substance which has mass and occupies space. All physical objects are composed
of matter, in the form of atoms. Atoms are in turn made up of neutrons, protons, and electrons.
Matter also exists in four states: solid, liquid and gas, and plasma; though there are more yet to be
proven possible states. Also, all matter is capable of being converted to energy. You might have
heard of E = mc2, that would be

Cultural Differences In Tayo s Ceremony
One of the main civic and moral lessons that is displayed throughout Edgar Huntly is the
mistreatment of the Native American culture by the hands of the white, privileged and superior
culture. This is something that is seen through the eyes of Edgar throughout the second half of the
novel, where he believes that the Native Americans are savages with no rules or responsibilities
who mindlessly killed those that he loved for fun, with no rational decision making abilities. The
irony that is found within this, is the fact that the savage, irrational killer turns out to be Edgar
himself, who convinces himself that he killed those Natives out of self defense in order to protect
himself from those who have no rational abilities to protect themselves.... Show more content on

Tayo struggles in defending his cultural identity because of his white and Native American
cultural background. The moral lesson that both novels struggle in properly addressing is the
ability to accept different cultures regardless of their background and accepting individuals
regardless. Edgar is judgemental based on the Native Americans lifestyles, not only because of
his own prejudices but also his own in regards to the message that has been established based on
his culture. This is not the same case for Tayo in Ceremony but the lack of cultural appreciation
and understanding of cultural differences is a problem that is addressed. The civic lessons that
are addressed involves personal responsibilities in serving justice and facing an entire
community independently instead of as a whole and a team. Edgar takes it upon himself to find
Waldegraves murderer, regardless of the fact that it is not his responsibility. He believes it is his
civic duty in order to bring forth justice. This civic responsibility is addressed in Ceremony, when
Tayo is forced into WWII, he is forced to bring justice to his country as apart of a team instead of a

The Eruption Of Kilauea Volcano
Abstract
The home of Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess, Kilauea Volcano has been erupting for the last
30 years. Since January 3, 1983, the world has stopped to look at the lava flowing out of the
crevices of the crater. However, despite the meaning of the name, Kilauea in Hawaiian (which
translates to spewing or much spreading ), many scientists are amazed that the volcano has a
continuous flow (USGS 1,2,3). Nonetheless, as the East Rift Zone spreads, Kilauea has started
overflowing; and the once majestic lava now spills out of Pu u O o Crater into nearby towns.
Scientists and citizens scramble to find the answer: how do we stop a volcanic eruption from
destroying nearby civilization without stopping the natural occurrence?
Kilauea
As the youngest and most southeastern volcano on Hawaii s big island, Kilauea has been
suggested to be the world s most active volcano; having recorded 61 historical eruptions, not
including the continuous lava lake activity in Halema uma u Crater (Life Stages of Hawaiian
Volcanoes). Kilauea is at it s shield forming stage referencing volcanology. During this stage the
excretion systems within the volcanoes are the most efficient at transporting magma to the surface
since over 95% of lava gets erupted. As well as the constant eruption, the magma chamber of the
volcano fully develops to serve as a station for older, less dense magma. The magma chamber
migrates upwards as a volcano grows and the Kilauea volcano magma chamber

The Driving Down The Road
There are millions and millions of cars on the road these days. With every car on the road there
is a driver operating the vehicle. Every single driver has habits that they acquired throughout the
years of driving. Some don t use blinkers, others tend to go over the speed limit, and others don t
wear seatbelts. Majority of those drivers can fall into one of the following categories: the carefree
reckless driver, the overly cautious driver, and the normal driver which is the most preferred. We
have all seen it, you are drivingdown the road and then out of nowhere a car comes flying past
you in the other lane. That is a prime example of what we consider a carefree and reckless driver.
You see, a carefree and reckless driver is one that cares about nobody but themselves when
driving. They are the people that you see going fifteen to twenty miles per hour over the speed
limit with no signs of slowing down. Sure they might have an excuse of I was late for work or a
family emergency came up but in general you are still a reckless driver and carefree. I think we
all can relate when I say that we see enough of these drivers on the daily. But what other traits do
carefree and reckless drivers exhibit? One big trait is that they are always switching back and forth
between lanes of traffic. They become so impatient that they feel the need to constantly switch back
and forth between lanes so they are one car closer to being at their destination. Another one of the
dominant traits

Therefore, to what extent is Belize coping with the technological era? On December 2014, the
Prime Minister Honorable Dean Barrow said that the year 2015 would be the year of technology

9,000 tablets to tertiary level students and as well provided free access to Wi Fi in each park of
the country s municipalities. In addition, the Prime Minister also said that with the help of Koreans
they are making plans towards building a Technology University in Belmopan. It all sounds great,
but there are still plenty of drawbacks. Belize is second to lowest in Broadband Internet speed in the

Vladimir And Estragon In Waiting For Godot
The relationship between Vladimir and Estragon in Waiting for Godot. Why do they stay together,
despite frequent suggestions that they part? The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906
in Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth
century. Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post
modernist. His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot
1, which he composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage
setting. Godot is one of Beckett s most controversial plays and well known in the international
literary world. The play received much criticism in conjunction with... Show more content on

This statement perfectly summarizes the difficulty reviewers had trying to cope with its
apparent absence of content. The main characters in the play, Vladimir and Estragon, are
waiting for Godot throughout the entire play, however the mysterious Godot never shows.
Nevertheless, Didi and Gogo (their nick names for each other) decide to wait for this figure
Godot even if they have to come back for him tomorrow which is in essence the makeup of the
main plot (Beckett 6). In spite of both Vladimir and Estragon expressing several times the desire
to leave, to stop waiting for Godot, they arrive at exactly the same conclusion every time: they
can t leave due to the simple fact that they are waiting for Godot (Beckett 6). In this article I will
explore the peculiar relationship that Vladimir and Estragon have in the play, and why they have
been together for over fifty years. Even though Vladimir and Estragon frequently suggest to part
they never do, since they give each other purpose and are bound to one and other. Samuel Beckett
explored existential and philosophical ideas in his work, in Godot existentialism is present since it
explains the complete existence of Vladimir and Estragon. The seemingly absurd and comical

Throughout the years of a child going into adulthood the child behaves the way they thoughtlessly
choose. Poor decision making is a part of this transition which can eventually lead to things such as
an increase in unprotected sex, destructive behavior and even substance abuse in some cases (
Jaeger ). In this article Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging, also known as fMRI, studies have
been completed to divulge the certain mechanisms located in the brainthat underlie the cause of this
typical inhibitory control limitations with the developmental period ( Jaeger ). The goal of this
article was to get people to understand some of the features of a healthy brain in youth today and
why there is a reduced inhibitory control capacity among these adolescents. The youth in this study
had lower activity in numerous brain regions that were associated with inhibitory control. The
activity that was found in these regions might underlie the lower inhibitory control that is related to
the developmental period up until adulthood ( Jaeger ).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department,
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee
Abstract
Casting is one of the major metallurgical operations carried out in the manufacturing industry.
Given the large scale of operations, the number of defects in the process also goes up with the
development of the time and methods of the processing. Although, we have managed to cover up
for the defects in the procedure, yet the remnants pose a huge problem. Now, every property
attributes its relations to the casting process and the correlation of the defect in the microstructure,
ductility, machinability, etc. all trace their reasons back to the type of casting or the defect
associated with it. In the present study, we have tried to analyze two main types of defects mainly,
filling and thermal defects, with their sub types along with the causes, effects on the properties and
remedies.
Keywords: Casting Defects; Filling Defects; Thermal Defects.
1. Introduction
Casting is a process of manufacturing where the liquid material is poured into a mould and let to
solidify over a period of time [1 5]. This process has major implications in the manufacturing
industry and several operations are heavily dependent on this. It is of utmost importance that the
process of casting is understood in depth and the processing is carried out with

Bible
One area in the bible which I have a problem understanding is the story in
the beginning of Job. In this book, God talks to Satan and brags about His
servant Job. He then goes on to bet with Satan, that whatever Job does, he
will not renounce his faith in God. There are a couple of reasons this
strikes me as odd. First of all, why would God, who is all knowing want to
have anything to do with making deals with Satan? Secondly, why would Satan
be interested in making deals with God, if he knows God already has the
future planned out? Lastly, why would God put unnecessary affliction on His
best man if it were only to prove a point to Satan?
Maybe one of the reasons God would take a bet on by Satan in the ... Show more content on

There is no other apparent
justification for what God put on Job. Maybe something has to happen to one
person, to be able to save a thousand.
The other side of the story is seen on the part of the Satan, who unwisely,
decided to challenge God to a contest, which you think he would know he was
unable to win. So why would Satan waste his time making a bet that he knew
he would lose? The only reason I can see is that he truly thought Job would
fall under the circumstances. This exchange between Satan and God seems
like a no win situation. God, on one hand would never have made a bet,
which would result in Him, appearing weaker or him losing. But, Satan was
stupid enough to make a bet with God, which he surely knew wasn t going to
result in a victory.
The last question I presented was, why God would put unnecessary affliction
on his most honorable and blameless man? This part of the story is what I
think of as the most important. Job, just because he was righteous, thought
that he didn t deserve to have anything bad happen to him. God made a point
in the story when he chose Job as the object of His bet. Not only did God
prove something to Satan, but to Job as well. I think Job put it best when
he said With nothing from the ground I came, and with nothing I shall
return.
In conclusion, I think it important to acknowledge how strong Job

INTRODUCTION
Cholera is a tropical disease that causes critical dehydration. The bacterium, which can be found in
contaminated water or food, produces the toxin that causes unusual fluid secretion (1). Even though
cholera still causes several deaths, about 80% of the cases can be treated with rehydration therapy
(2). In 2013, America had the highest number of cholera cases (Figure 1).
Figure 1: Cholera cases reported to WHO by year and continent 1989 2013 (World Health
Organization, 2014) The causal agent of cholera is called Vibrio cholerae (Figure 2), which is a
Gram negative bacillus from the genus Vibrionaceae. The bacterium moves by a polar flagellum.
Even with a high number of strains described, only the serotypes O139 and O1 can cause cholera
(3).
Figure 2: Vibrio cholerae (Kirn et al, 2000) The cholera toxin (also called choleragen) is a protein
that activates adenylate cyclase. Being an enterotoxin, this protein affects the membrane
permeability of intestinal wall cells (4). The protein was first purified in 1969 and it is
composed by two types of subunits, with one being the binding type of subunit (B) and other
being the toxic active type of subunit (A) (5). The B type has a mass of 64 kDa, which is about
67% of the total protein mass. It is composed by five identical

Ethnic Cleansing In The United States
Ethnicity is defined as an ethnic group; a social group that shares a common and distinctive
culture, religion, or language. There can be many different ethnic groups in each country. In
China alone there are 56 recognized ethnic groups. In the United States there are six recognized
ethnic groups. They are White American, Black or African American, Alaska Native or Native
American, Native Hawaiian, Asian American, or people of two or more races. The US census
also groups Americans into the category of Hispanic or Latino or Not Hispanic or Latino .
Ethnicities are located in different places depending on many factors, such as geography. For
example, there is a high population of Hispanics from Mexico in the southwestern part of the
country.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethnic cleansing is defined as the systematic removal of ethnic or religious groups from a given
territory by a more powerful ethnic group, with the intent of making it ethnically homogenous.
This basically means, one ethnic groups removes another group to make a certain place s
population just their ethnic group. Ethnic cleansing can be carried out in many ways, such as
forced migration, intimidation, and mass murder. One of the most cruel and widespread
examples of this was the Holocaust. It was portrayed in the book The Diary of Anne Frank . In
1933, a man named Adolf Hitler was elected as chancellor of Germany. Germany was angry and
embarrassed from WW1, and they wanted someone to blame. Hitler gave them someone, the
jews. He blamed them for Germany s defeat. The Franks are the main focus of the book The
Diary of Anne Frank . After Hitler was elected the Franks started to notice the anger and hatred
around them, so they fled to Amsterdam. In 1940, Germany invaded The Netherlands and they
began to place restrictions on the jews. Anne Frank and her sister had to switch to an all jewish
school, they had to wear stars on their clothes, and they weren t allowed in certain places. In
1942 Anne s sister received a call up notice to be relocated to a work camp. Her father then
decide it was time to tell them about their hiding place. They left their house a mess and left a
note about leaving for Switzerland to throw the authorities off. They moved into the attic of Otto
Frank s office building. They were joined by a few others shorty after. During her time there, Anne
kept a very detailed diary about her daily life and her thoughts. They lived there for two years until
August 4, 1944 the German police stormed the building and found them from an anonymous tip.
The family was then sent to a concentration camp called Auschwitz. The men and women were
separated and those who were too young or

How Does Shakespeare Present The Nature Of Love In Twelfth...
Shakespeare s ability to portray the universal nature of the human condition is at its most accessible
in Twelfth Night. The compelling prominence of love entertains and engages the audience because
of its complex and dynamic nature. The interpersonal relationships in the context of social
hierarchies are explored through the disguise motif, the folly of ambition and loveas a cause of
suffering. The complications that arise when social norms are subverted, lead to the characters
facing adversity, which offers insight into human behaviour.
Shakespeare explores the timelessness of love through the exploration of romantic relationships
between characters of different social statuses, ranging from Duke Orsino to Olivia s servant
Malvolio. Love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malvolio, a Puritan, is in constant pursuit of greater authority and a higher status in the social
hierarchy of Illyria. He fantasises about being Olivia s husband, even though he is not in love
with her, but knows that the man she marries will hold power. In Malvolio s soliloquy, the
rhetorical exclamation To be Count Malvolio! , elucidates that Malvolio s intentions are purely
for the means of authority, and explores his excessive self obsession and ambition to advance in
the social class. As the play progresses, Malvolio s dignity becomes his downfall as he is
manipulated by a forged love letter from Maria pretending to be Olivia. Believing the letter is
real, Malvolio wears attire that is contrasting to his usual serious demeanor in the form of yellow
stockings . This imagery reveals the ridiculous extremes Malvolio will go to, in order to pursue his
aspirations, and the dramatic irony adds to the comedic nature of Malvolio s foolish behaviour. As
a consequence of his humiliation, Malvolio s vanity becomes his weakness and his reputation
compromised, which all but concludes his hopes for

Assess the Extent to Which Short Term Factors Are Now More...
The electorate are those that are eligible to vote, and many factors can influence the way in which
the electorate do vote. Primacy, also known as long term, factors are those that have a long term
influence on the way in which somebody votes, for example the social class in which that person
belongs to. Recency also referred to as short term, factors are those which have a short term
influence and most prominently during the lead up to an election, an example of a recency factor is
the impact of mass media. In the last few decades many long term factors have become less
important due to partisan and social de alignment, whilst the short term factors have been ever
more emphasised and prominent. To begin, the period of 1945 1970 was... Show more content on

This occurred due to embourgeoisement, which was the tendency of the better off working class
people with aspirations to become more like the middle classes in their social outlook and voting
behaviour. This new type of class was classified by Crewe as the new working class of the new
estates and new service economy of the South. The voting behaviour had been changed, instead of
voting for Labour the new working class were more inclined to the tax cut, nationalisation and
union policies of the Conservatives. Also, demographic changes lead to inner cities emptying and
their electoral base eroded, whilst the South grew where it had a concentration of Conservative
voters. Therefore, the long term factors of social class and party identification have become less
important in shaping the voting behaviour, mainly as the working class was less aligned to
Labour. However, the general election results of 2005 suggest there is still a small link between
social class and voting as Labour had a clear majority against the Conservatives in some of the
inner cities, where the concentration of working class lie. There is great evidence to suggest that
short term factors have been very influential in the voting behaviour of the electorate today. To
support this, Denver in 2003, noted that voting is now much influenced by the opinions and

  • 2. Larry Bird Essay Many dream of becoming an all star. Having the movie like transformation from being a lowly, small town boy and turning into a true legend. One of the few that lived this was Larry Bird. Larry would grow from a small town boy in Indiana to transforming and becoming one of the National Basketball Association s, or NBA s best players of all time. Through Larry Bird s early life, his college years, his NBA glory and rivals, and his life post NBA all come into account when understanding the greatness of this true NBA legend. Larry Bird grew up young and poor in French Lick, Indiana, just outside of West Baden. He was born on December 7, 1956 (1). Larry s family was poor, just like all of the other families in his town (2). As one of six siblings, Larry had to compete and fight for everything he got. His original sport he ... Larry won rookie of the year his first season, and led the Celtics to a 64 18 record, but lost to Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Celtics really needed someone who could assist Bird and take the load off of him, so they acquired two post players, Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish. With the trio of greatness, the Celtics easily surpassed anything that other teams tried to throw at them, winning the title in the 1980 81 season (3). The Celtics acquired Dennis Johnson after the 1982 season, a point guard that Larry liked. Dennis was the missing piece the Celtics had been longing for. They had the post and wing talent, but they needed a ball handler. In the 1983 84 the Celtics faced a foe they hadn t seen in the finals before, the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers team was jam packed with all star talent, but one in particular Larry had seen before. And that person was Magic Johnson. The Celtics and Bird beat the Lakers and Magic that year, but Magic was looking for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this manner, mar riot can attract additional capital that gives it an opportunity to even invest more in the future, share the risks with limited partners. The partnership can be of great benefit as it is a good way of saving on taxes. b) The decision to invest in projects increases the shareholders value of the company. Does this make sense? a) Discounted cash flows from the projects by the suitable division of a hurdle rate to get the net present value which financially makes sense since risks among different divisions do vary. b) Another method is through incorporation of the hurdle rate in the compensation policy which in sense does not make sense since the rate does reflect risks of different activities and not managers performance. 3. What is the weighted average cost of capital for Marriott Corporation? Marriot Corporation measures the opportunity cost of the cost of capital for the investments using the weighted average cost of capital for similar investments that have the same risk. The WACC for the corporation is 11.89%. a)What risk free rate and the risk premium did you use to calculate the cost of equity? For the purposes of risk premium consistency, the arithmetic average was most applicable to the historic US government bonds of 4.58% for the longest period because of its accurate estimate. The risk premium used is 7.43% though it seems to be high, low free rate compensates it. • 4. Human Weakness in Macbeth and Othello Macbeth is one of the best known plays written by Shakespeare in the 17th century, Jacobean period. It was the period where the belief in supernatural was greatly held and king James I himself, the author of Divine rights of king adhered in witchcraft and openly practiced the idea of kings being God s representatives on earth, so to even complain about them was a sin. The tragic hero, brave and valiant Macbethhad all the required characteristics of the ideal Scottish soldier; valorous and gallant but he is bound to have a tragic flaw which he is powerless over and the cause of his inevitable death, his vaulting ambition and greed. We then have our other tragedy Othello, which is unique in the literature of time because he was the first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Macbeth, Duncan and the soldiers call him valiant and brave , Othello is also referred to as valiant and brave by the duke and Montana. Moreover, as we see Macbeth leading the big battle, Othello is reserved by the leaders of Venice who depend on him to fight the biggest battle. He is employed to do so which means he is chosen and his skills and qualities are valued therefore the verb employed is used to convey his importance in the society to the audience. Initially, Shakespeare presents the protagonists as impeccable heroes and suggests to the audience nothing can go wrong in the play. In comparison, Shakespeare uses a significant quote which foreshadows Othello s tragic fall later in the play. When Barbantio warns Othello she has deceived her father and may thee it shows the audience how hurt he is by her deception and warns Othello that if Desdemona can betray her father, whom she has known all her life she can easily betray Othello, This strong point foreshadows Othello s murderous suspicion. Shakespeare also used the character of Iago to not only show how trusting Othello is but also how poor of a judgement he makes. The repetition of honest Iago by Othello warns the audience how Othello s poor judgements will lead him to his downfall as they first see Iago slandering against Othello, so they are warned he is duplicitous beforehand. Opening Credits I Don t Want To Be by Gavin DeGraw I chose this specific song as my opening credits because it is one of my favorite songs from my favorite TV show, One Tree Hill. Every time I watched this show on Netflix, I never skipped the intro because of this song. It always has a way of putting me in a good mood and singing to the top of my lungs. The beat isn t the only thing that draws me to this song, the lyrics have such a positive meaning describing how I can be anything I want to be. In high school it s all about deciding what you want to be when you graduate and for many of us, that s a hard decision. At this age, many of us don t even know our own selves. After going through 4 years of high school, I learned alot about me and who I want to be. Well all I want to be is me. 2. Ed Gein was such a controversial and disturbing figure that his story inspired a lot of plots for thriller movies and books, such as the character of Norman Bates in Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs, a novel by Thomas Harris. The life of Ed Gein was significantly marked by several factors: he spent his childhood with George, an alcoholic and absent father, and Augusta, an overprotective and extremely religious mother, obsessed by the idea that the world was populated by impure and sinful people. The definition of attachment involves an affectional bond that infants need to form with a differentiated and preferred individual that becomes an attachment figure, consisting in a sustained nurturing relationship with the sensitive caregiver (Bowlbly, 1979). Attachment is conceptualized as an evolutionary feature: individuals can create a secure base around which one is able to explore and gain independence as well as a safe haven to which individuals can return and be reassured in a situation of distress or danger (Ainsworth et al., 1978; Bowlby, 1969). On the contrary, unresponsive or atypical ways of parenting can lead to aberrant behaviours or, if others risk factors are present, to psychopathology (Jacobsen, Edelstein, Hoffman, 1994; Schaffer, 1996). Secure attachment with the primary caregiver is necessary for social and emotional regulation as well as cognitive and resilience abilities(Bowlby, 1982; Ainsworth Bell,1970); insecure attachment affects individuals life in many aspects, especially the ability to face distress (Macbeth et al., 2011), and not too rarely the aftermaths of an insane attachment can culminate in personality disorders (Crawford et al., ... • 10. Social Psychological Theories of Aggression Essay Social Psychological Theories of Aggression Social learning theorists propose that behaviour, such as aggression is learnt through observation, imitation and behaviour shaping. This behaviour is learnt automatically through observation of male and female role models, for example parents, peers and media characters. Whether or not this behaviour is imitated depends on the type of reinforcement that the role model receives. Vicarious reinforcement involves the outcome of a role models behaviour, for example if a child observes a parent acting aggressively and receiving positive rewards for they are more like to be imitate this behaviour in the future, than they would be if the role model ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This supports the Social Learning Theories of aggression as the children learnt through observation of the role model, imitation of their behaviour and behaviour shaping. Also they received sweets and praise as a form of positive vicarious reinforcement thus meaning that there was a chance of repetition of the aggressive behaviour outside the laboratory setting. The vicarious reinforcement is also a direct consequence that will have an effect on the chances of the child repeating the behaviour. As if the child was punished they would have been less likely to act aggressively again. On the other hand, it is possible to say that the children were manipulated into responding aggressively towards the BoBo Doll as they were teased and may have become frustrated because they could not touch the toys even though they had to watch the role models playing however it is not actually stated how long the children remained aggressive for. The experiment can be said to be unethical and morally wrong because the children were trained to be aggressive, as they were probably not used to watching adults behave some immaturely. Also as the experiment was preformed in a laboratory it therefore lacks eco logical validity, as it may not have real life consequences. • 11. Video Games Do Not Encourage Violence Essay Video games and violence Over the years, the popularity of computer and video games has grown. Specifically violent video games make up more than 50 % of the top selling games. These games include violent themes that involve guns, crime, blood, and gore. There is an ongoing belief that these types of games are to blame for the many acts of violence in society and have encouraged America s youth to act out in aggression. Several organizations, such as the PTC (Parents Television Council) have moved to discourage the development of violent games while also pushing for stronger regulations when purchasing such games. There is also debate among parents and concerns on how games can negatively influence their children. So is there a direct link between video games and violence? The truth is video games do not encourage violence in society based on several factors which include scientific studies, statistics on crime, and prevention measures adopted by game publishers. Scientific Studies There have been several scientific studies to determine if video games do in fact contribute to violence. One study was conducted by experimental psychologist in 2015 at the Oxford Internet Institute at Oxford University. Lead by Dr. Andy Przybykaski, the study included research to observe the behaviors of children during social gaming. The artwork appears to have been painted with oil due to the ability to capture the colors, although they are not rich. When painting with oil, the artist can show off interesting brush strokes and create beautiful softness. The horse carriage in the river brought a sense of wonder upon viewing the piece. What happened, why are they in the river? The home alongside of the water, and the dog along the shore made me curious as well. There is evidently history in this piece and a story to tell. A2. Prior to the 19th century, most of the world s economies had been largely based on agriculture. Farming was a laborious enterprise, and resulted in the vast majority of people to reside in the rural communities. The economy shifted, and industrialization basically remade every aspect of society. During the industrial revolution, new efficiencies caused people to migrate to the cities, otherwise they were faced with unemployment. Those that relocated, experienced urban culture, leisure and middle class status. The transition was horrific for the poor miserable housing, unclean water, and minimal heal care. According to some art historians, Constable was responding to shifts. As the cities grew, those who had become rich from the industrial boom, began to look to the countryside as a dream, a place where the water and air was pure, a place of one s childhood. Constable s art was intended for the wealthy urban elite, permitting them to escape the evils of modern urban life through his landscapes. B4. Relevance of the Work Constable s The Hay Wain provides the modern world with the same escape though art as it did during its originality. Although very similar, these are very loose terms when it comes to categorizing our government. The respect for human rights and involvement of the nation s people have been a main priority in the running of the governmentsince the beginning. Unfortunately, over time, we are seeing our freedoms and individual participation in the governments decisions slowly declining in many aspects. This makes us question the government and our ultimates rights as citizens that we currently have. The support we have for democracyis our support towards religious freedom, worker rights, and also helps create a more stable and affluent system that manages our nation s control and gives us the ability to have a bigger voices around the world. In general, a democracy is a form of government that gives power to the people. There are various forms that specify the amount of power and to whom it is admitted. A direct democracy is a form of government in which the people decide policy matters directly (Mott 1), for example voting on ballot referendums or attending town hall meetings. The Multinational Corporation Boom And Its Reasons In this paper the multinational corporation boom and its reasons are investigated and then the challenges which these corporations encounter will be discussed. There are certain reasons associated with the rapid growth of multinational corporations during the last 50 years. Including but not limited to globalization, information technology telecommunication, deregulations and worldwide market liberalization and the operation in the emerging economies and the growth opportunity in these countries. Globalization) Globalization is the process of international integration caused by the exchange of products, ideas and other aspects of the culture in a global scale. Scholars still disagree whether the globalization caused the inception of multinational corporations or vice versa. Although globalization is the phenomena which belongs to the modern era, the earliest samples of multinational corporations could be traced back to 17th century Dutch and English India companies. Therefore it is generally believed that multinational corporations are both a cause and a result of the globalization process. The globalization has manifested itself in the interdependence of national economies and financial markets. There are different dimensions for the growth of multinational corporations in globalization era. The economic dimension of the multinational corporation growth can be presented through the numbers; including the fact that approximately 33% of the world trade consists of ... His study included the study of biology, marine biology and Meteorology. He studied in many fields of science. He was a big scientist of his time. Without adding these two specific devices, Vonnegut could possibly have lost reader s interests in the book or lost his own interest in writing the book. Despite the introduction of several tough economic austerity programs by 2001 the recession slid into its third year and Argentina was bankrupt. The IMF gave Argentina $13.7 billion in emergency aid in January, 2001 and $8 billion in August, 2001. The international help was not enough however and Argentina verged on economic collapse forcing it to default on its $141 billion foreign debt payment which was the largest such default in history. On January, 2002 after more instability the government announced an economic plan devaluing the Argentine peso which had been pegged to the dollar for a decade. The devaluation plunged the banking industry into crisis, caused unemployment to reach 20% and wiped out much of the savings of the middle class, plunging millions of Argentineans into poverty. NГ©stor Kirchner became Argentina s president in May 2003. Kirchner has vowed to aggressively reform the courts, police, and armed services, and to repeal amnesty laws for perpetrators of the dirty war. Although our Western culture was built on a multicultural foundation, we have nevertheless failed, to embrace many of the needs, views, and perspectives specific to those not considered part of the dominant White Western culture. Only in recent decades have we truly started to address this gap and the needs associated with serving others from a culturally sensitive standpoint. This experience, however, taught me a humbling and valuable lesson. I assumed that couples counseling was similar to individual counseling with two clients instead of one, but I quickly learned that it is a whole different beast! At the completion of Alayah s first session, she felt seriously conflicted and doubted her ability to competently work with the couple. She questioned whether it was ethical to continue seeing the couple. I had many of these same musings. I began to question whether I had scheduled them for the right reasons. Since January 3, 1983, the world has stopped to look at the lava flowing out of the crevices of the crater. However, despite the meaning of the name, Kilauea in Hawaiian (which translates to spewing or much spreading ), many scientists are amazed that the volcano has a continuous flow (USGS 1,2,3). Nonetheless, as the East Rift Zone spreads, Kilauea has started overflowing; and the once majestic lava now spills out of Pu u O o Crater into nearby towns. Scientists and citizens scramble to find the answer: how do we stop a volcanic eruption from destroying nearby civilization without stopping the natural occurrence? Kilauea As the youngest and most southeastern volcano on Hawaii s big island, Kilauea has been suggested to be the world s most active volcano; having recorded 61 historical eruptions, not including the continuous lava lake activity in Halema uma u Crater (Life Stages of Hawaiian Volcanoes). • 39. Vladimir And Estragon In Waiting For Godot The relationship between Vladimir and Estragon in Waiting for Godot. Why do they stay together, despite frequent suggestions that they part? The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906 in Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post modernist. His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot 1, which he composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage setting. Godot is one of Beckett s most controversial plays and well known in the international literary world. The play received much criticism in conjunction with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This statement perfectly summarizes the difficulty reviewers had trying to cope with its apparent absence of content. The main characters in the play, Vladimir and Estragon, are waiting for Godot throughout the entire play, however the mysterious Godot never shows. Nevertheless, Didi and Gogo (their nick names for each other) decide to wait for this figure Godot even if they have to come back for him tomorrow which is in essence the makeup of the main plot (Beckett 6). In spite of both Vladimir and Estragon expressing several times the desire to leave, to stop waiting for Godot, they arrive at exactly the same conclusion every time: they can t leave due to the simple fact that they are waiting for Godot (Beckett 6). In this article I will explore the peculiar relationship that Vladimir and Estragon have in the play, and why they have been together for over fifty years. Even though Vladimir and Estragon frequently suggest to part they never do, since they give each other purpose and are bound to one and other. Samuel Beckett explored existential and philosophical ideas in his work, in Godot existentialism is present since it explains the complete existence of Vladimir and Estragon. Casting Defects And Their Influence On Property MTN 391 Technical Communication Report Casting Defects and their influence on property Shivam Gupta and Somesh Mohapatra Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee Abstract Casting is one of the major metallurgical operations carried out in the manufacturing industry. Given the large scale of operations, the number of defects in the process also goes up with the development of the time and methods of the processing. Although, we have managed to cover up for the defects in the procedure, yet the remnants pose a huge problem. Now, every property attributes its relations to the casting process and the correlation of the defect in the microstructure, ductility, machinability, etc. all trace their reasons back to the type of casting or the defect associated with it. In the present study, we have tried to analyze two main types of defects mainly, filling and thermal defects, with their sub types along with the causes, effects on the properties and remedies. Keywords: Casting Defects; Filling Defects; Thermal Defects. 1. Introduction Casting is a process of manufacturing where the liquid material is poured into a mould and let to solidify over a period of time [1 5]. • 43. Bible One area in the bible which I have a problem understanding is the story in the beginning of Job. In this book, God talks to Satan and brags about His servant Job. He then goes on to bet with Satan, that whatever Job does, he will not renounce his faith in God. There are a couple of reasons this strikes me as odd. First of all, why would God, who is all knowing want to have anything to do with making deals with Satan? Secondly, why would Satan be interested in making deals with God, if he knows God already has the future planned out? Lastly, why would God put unnecessary affliction on His best man if it were only to prove a point to Satan? Maybe one of the reasons God would take a bet on by Satan in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no other apparent justification for what God put on Job. Maybe something has to happen to one person, to be able to save a thousand. The other side of the story is seen on the part of the Satan, who unwisely, decided to challenge God to a contest, which you think he would know he was unable to win. So why would Satan waste his time making a bet that he knew he would lose? The only reason I can see is that he truly thought Job would fall under the circumstances. This exchange between Satan and God seems like a no win situation. God, on one hand would never have made a bet, which would result in Him, appearing weaker or him losing. But, Satan was stupid enough to make a bet with God, which he surely knew wasn t going to

God made a point in the story when he chose Job as the object of His bet. Not only did God prove something to Satan, but to Job as well. AMINO ACID SEQUENCE ANALYSIS OF THE SUBUNIT B FROM CHOLERA TOXIN PRODUCED BY Vibrio cholerae O139 CELIO CABRAL OLIVEIRA NUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCE ANALYSIS RUTGERS UNIVERSITY FALL 2014 INTRODUCTION Cholera is a tropical disease that causes critical dehydration. The bacterium, which can be found in contaminated water or food, produces the toxin that causes unusual fluid secretion (1). Even though cholera still causes several deaths, about 80% of the cases can be treated with rehydration therapy (2). In 2013, America had the highest number of cholera cases (Figure 1). Figure 1: Cholera cases reported to WHO by year and continent 1989 2013 (World Health Organization, 2014) The causal agent of cholera is called Vibrio cholerae (Figure 2), which is a Gram negative bacillus from the genus Vibrionaceae. The bacterium moves by a polar flagellum. Even with a high number of strains described, only the serotypes O139 and O1 can cause cholera (3). Figure 2: Vibrio cholerae (Kirn et al, 2000) The cholera toxin (also called choleragen) is a protein that activates adenylate cyclase. Being an enterotoxin, this protein affects the membrane permeability of intestinal wall cells (4). The protein was first purified in 1969 and it is composed by two types of subunits, with one being the binding type of subunit (B) and other being the toxic active type of subunit (A) (5). Ethnic cleansing can be carried out in many ways, such as forced migration, intimidation, and mass murder. One of the most cruel and widespread examples of this was the Holocaust. It was portrayed in the book The Diary of Anne Frank . In 1933, a man named Adolf Hitler was elected as chancellor of Germany. Germany was angry and embarrassed from WW1, and they wanted someone to blame. Hitler gave them someone, the jews. He blamed them for Germany s defeat. The Franks are the main focus of the book The Diary of Anne Frank . After Hitler was elected the Franks started to notice the anger and hatred around them, so they fled to Amsterdam. In 1940, Germany invaded The Netherlands and they began to place restrictions on the jews. The compelling prominence of love entertains and engages the audience because of its complex and dynamic nature. The interpersonal relationships in the context of social hierarchies are explored through the disguise motif, the folly of ambition and loveas a cause of suffering. The complications that arise when social norms are subverted, lead to the characters facing adversity, which offers insight into human behaviour. Shakespeare explores the timelessness of love through the exploration of romantic relationships between characters of different social statuses, ranging from Duke Orsino to Olivia s servant Malvolio. As the play progresses, Malvolio s dignity becomes his downfall as he is manipulated by a forged love letter from Maria pretending to be Olivia. Believing the letter is real, Malvolio wears attire that is contrasting to his usual serious demeanor in the form of yellow stockings . Recency also referred to as short term, factors are those which have a short term influence and most prominently during the lead up to an election, an example of a recency factor is the impact of mass media. This new type of class was classified by Crewe as the new working class of the new estates and new service economy of the South. The voting behaviour had been changed, instead of voting for Labour the new working class were more inclined to the tax cut, nationalisation and union policies of the Conservatives. Also, demographic changes lead to inner cities emptying and their electoral base eroded, whilst the South grew where it had a concentration of Conservative voters. Therefore, the long term factors of social class and party identification have become less important in shaping the voting behaviour, mainly as the working class was less aligned to Labour. However, the general election results of 2005 suggest there is still a small link between social class and voting as Labour had a clear majority against the Conservatives in some of the inner cities, where the concentration of working class lie.
