How Youth Workers Can Help With The Issue Of Young Offenders
This essay will examine how youth workers can help with the issue of young offenders, with the
use of relevant policies along with historical and current context to show how. It will also point out
key policies and legislative frameworks linked to young offenders and how these policies promote
social justice and equality.
The term young offender refers to a person (male or female between the ages of 10 17) who has
been convicted of or cautioned about a criminal offence. The term young offender is often used
because the criminal justice system deals with young people who offend in a different way to
adults who offend (ACS Distance Education 2011). Crime is a widespread issue in society and
criminal activities are beginning to get worse. Along with that a lot of young people are now
getting involved in criminal activities. Statistics show that there were over 47,000 criminals
between the ages of 16 21 committing crimes (Whitehead 2014). There are many reason why
young people choose to commit crimes, these would include problems at home, peer pressure,
boredom, poverty etc. it was found that poverty is one of the main reasons that young people turn
to crime due to job cuts and other factors (Association of Chief Officers of Probation 1993). A
report was carried out in Southmead and it showed that young people were the only group that
were identified as criminals (Brent 2006:26). The main conflict between adults and young people
seems to be based around behaviour in public.

Hotel California Rhetorical Devices
Glenn Frey, the co founder of the Eagles, was a middle class kid living in the midwest. He dreamed
of acquiring tremendous wealth in Los Angeles, but later realized that there are more important
things than money. In their song, Hotel California, originally titled Mexican Reggae, they (The
Eagles) express this idea to their audience through lyrics that convey the idea that there are more
important things than just possessions, and there are negatives to the American Dream. The
audience in this could be the average person, yet, the rhetorical devices in The EaglesHotel
Californiaare intended to reveal to the audience that there are negatives to the American Dream,
and you shouldn t change who you are in order to make it rich. In Hotel California, The Eagles use
antithesis, to show a contrast in the American Dream by stating there are both positives and
negatives by comparing them both as heaven and hell. Frey uses... Show more content on

In this case Frey uses epithet to describe a hotel in LA. The hotel represents his American dream
of wanting to acquire tremendous wealth in the West. He described this dream with admiration
when he says Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my
sight grew dim I had to stop for the night. When he uses the term shimmering light it is taken as a
positive attribute because objects that shimmer are often taken as being valuable, much like the
materialistic items associated with the American dream. When he states his sight grew dim and I
had to stop for the night, this represents the underbelly of American Materialism. As a country,
Americans are never satisfied with what they have. This is why he describes it as dim and heavy,
both of which are taken as having negative connotations. Once again Frey represents both sides by
using an adjective to modify a noun and make it more clear and

The Great Recession
The Great Recession of 2008 was the biggest global financial crisis that the world witnessed after
the Great Depression of the 1930s. Collapsing markets, failure of banks and drastic decrease in
international trade were just some key characteristics of the great recession. It became clear after
the collapse of the capitalist ideology enforced by United Statesthat this was the end of America
centred age of globalization (Lecture 2). This paper will compare and contrast the key
characteristics of the great recession and the great depression. It will also emphasize that the root
causes of the financial collapse of 2008 were first, unfavourable macroeconomic factors such as
increasing deficits in the current account of advanced countries and loose... Show more content on

Baldwin in his book, The Great Trade Collapse , explains that the financial collapse was very
sudden and synchronized which increased its severity. The trade collapse in 2008 was not as
severe as the Great Depression, however, the fall was very quick as it took 9 months for trade to
fall at the same level which took 24 months in 1930s (Baldwin, Pg. 1). The gradual trade collapse
was an initial sign that a severe financial crisis is about to come as countries that were dependent
on commodity exports (oil and minerals) were hit the most which includes Canada as well.
Additionally, uncertainty about the future spread globally and as a result people began to delay
their unnecessary expenses. With consumption rate decreasing globally, imports and exports were
adversely affected as well resulting into decreasing GDP in US, European Union and Japan
(Baldwin, 2009). It can be concluded from the stated facts that the nature of the Great Recession
was widespread primarily due to the internationalization of trade. Capitalism, with its main concept
of globalization had made the great recession a global phenomenon since after the triumph of
United States in Cold War, capitalism was adopted as the new world order. The expansion of
MNCs and global supply chains which were created to reduce operational costs meant that
disruption in one country of operation would likely cause problems with associated subsidiaries in
other countries. Thus, the connectedness of the financial markets and trade contributed in creating
a synchronized and severe recession

Race Riots Of The Civil Rights Movement
In 1965, people has sunk back into complacency with the relatively few gains they had achieved
in the civil rights movement. A new development also appeared in the form of President Lyndon
Johnson s voting rights act but before this would happen the greatest race riot of that time
exploded in Watts, Los Angeles. The riot was a culmination of racial tension and anger that came
with the lower class black experience. The riot paved the way for more separatism in American
society; notions of racial unity had been drowned out. Another similar explosion of black outrage
happened in West Chicago and also then followed in other major cities like Boston, Cincinnati,
Buffalo, Newark, Detroit etc. Massive property damage and numerous black lives were

Jc Penney Marketing Analysis
JC Penney Case Study MBA 503 March 28, 2013 Background JC Penney is one of only a
handful of one hundred year old plus companies in the United States. Founded in 1902 by James
Cash Penney, the company has grown into a major retailer, with 1,104 stores and approximately

The expansion of their in store Sephora locations will hopefully lead to additional impulse buys
in other areas of the store. Also there is room in niche markets underserved by their competitors,
such as big and tall clothing and maternity wear. Finally, there is ample room for the company to
expand internet sales not only in the United States but also internationally. Threats What threats
does JC Penney not face? They are in an uphill battle against a crowd of competing retailers.
They are attempting to offer low everyday prices which put them in line with bargain retailers
such as Kohl s, and Target, while at the same time attempting to become a more classy, higher end
store along the lines of Macy s, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales. JC Penney views all these
companies as competitors as seen in their own proxy statement. JC Penney is not as large as some
of its competitors, many of which have more substantial resources and are constantly attacking their
market share. The company also faces threats from economic conditions, such as high
unemployment and the recent recession. When consumers are under financial pressures can easily
decide to shop elsewhere, such as Kohl s, Target, and even the dreaded Walmart. Even the
perception of better value can drive consumers elsewhere. Also, shopping mall popularity is
shrinking, with some retailers focusing on and consumers preferring stand alone locations similar
to Kohl s. Over the

Parent-Infant Bonding
Coping Mechanisms of Ritual and Alienation: The Systemic Effect of Poverty on Parent Infant
Bonding According to attachment theory (Berger 2014; Fonagy, 2006), one of the most important
factors in the development of both the child and the adult is the bonding that happens in the
sensitivity period after birth. Though researchers disagree on the extent and determinative
characteristics of this period (Fonagy), the general consensus is that bonding is more beneficial
for both parent and infant than a lack of bonding (Berger, 2014, p. 69). Some European countries
view this period as so critical that natural births in the home are preferred and new mothers are
given a year long leave of absence to care for and bond with their new infants (p. 66).... Show more

The First Document By Chinggis Khan
The first document is a letter written by Chinggis Khan in 1219 Common Era (C.E.) to
Changchun. In this letter, Chinggis writes to him requesting a meeting with him. However, he also
critiques on how his empire is better than China. He states that China has been abandoned by the
heaven because of the state of luxury China has been living. Further, this has a negative impact on
China s society and believes that if they leave luxury behind the Chinese would be able to live in a
better state and conquer more land. A theme explored in this document is how ruler uses techniques
to expand their lands. Before Chinggis Khanbecome the well known leader of Mongolia, he was
known as Temujin and he was a son of a father that was murder. While growing up, he had to
know to hunt and gather food for his family. Still, has an adult, Chinggis used this as a technique
to conquer land in Eurasia. In the letter, Chinggis writes [b]ut, I living in the northern wilderness,
have not inordinate passions. I hate luxury and exercise moderation. Since he grew up in the
north, he knew the basic guidelines to survive. If he had never adopted the lifestyle of not
wanting luxury, he would had never been able to conquer lands that stretched from the China,
Persia, and even parts of Russia. Furthermore, Chinggis was able to conquer land because he was
able to fight for it, [a]t military exercises I am always in the front, and in time of battle am never

Stressors And Criminal Behavior
Stressors and their Origins
Literature and studies have shown that there is a link between child abuse and criminal behavior. A
great societal concern is criminal behavior in adolescence. The risk factors of youth criminality
have become a rising interest. One of the most consistent factors associated with adolescent criminal
behavior is child abuse. Crime related stress can start from a very young age and may not even
affect an individual until much later on in adulthood. Evidence has shown that young people in
America witness large amounts of violence at home and in their community. Evidence has also
shown that recent exposure to violence in the community as well as a history of receiving traumatic
news, recent life events, and to associate

The Threat Of Insider Threats
The threat of insider threats within our company is made possible by emerging technologies. It is
important that a security polices and training be required to assist in preventing these threats from
occurring. Insider threats come from people who attempt to gain access to our systems in order to
cause problems to our organization. It has been estimated that insider threats make up to 30% of all
major securitybreaches. These threats include sabotage, theft, fraud, black mail, and violent actions.
It is important to note people who commit such acts are normally former employees, current
employees, and third party contractors. The following security proposal should be implemented
with great hast due to the nature of our work overseas (Deloitte, 2016).
The input of the shareholders involved in the decision making process is a key element to the
success of the implementation of our security prevention program. The feedback from employees
will assist in identifying the best recourse in attempting to stave off insider threats to secure our
information networks. For example, stakeholder meetings should include representatives from each
section affected by this potential threat. The governance committee should include the program
manager, assistant program manager, senior operations officers, team leaders and Senior U.S Army
personnel. The meetings will be open forum based which will assist in resolving issues, setting
goals, and prioritizing tasks to ensure a smooth implementation

Essay Growing Up
When I Grow Up.. Being grown up isn t as fun as the idea of growing up. AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do
grownup things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally
grew up , and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven t made up our mind of
what it is we will do when we grow up. We ve painted this pretty little picture in our head of what
it ll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken
off the wall and put into action, it s not nearly as fun as creating the painting. Growing old is

The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he
forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise. Alden
Nowlan As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We
once convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much
better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth
and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now,
more than ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of
what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we
could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it. A grownup is a

on her. The steps followed are informed by the personal details provided and the test that have
already been conducted on the patient. This will be followed by the clarifying the all the
symptoms; this will ensure that the rest of the procedures are in line with the previous tests
conducted. Finally, an assessment of the problem will be conducted to give a confirmation on
the illness. Domains of health such as physical, social and psychological will be analyzed for
any probable cause of the problem. Identification of the patient The patient is a female by the
name Annie. She is married to a female partner who is away working at a mining site. Her case

History Of Halloween Essay
The History of Halloween Dressing up in costumes, trick or treating and carving pumpkins into
funny faces. These traditions are part of Halloween, a holiday known for fun, games and of
course candy. At least in this day and age, the excitement that the public feels for this
undocumented holiday isn t the same as it was 2,000 years ago. For the story of Halloween dates
back thousands of years to a festival called Samhain(pronounced sow in). A group of people
known as the Celts celebrated it to mark the end of the harvest season. They lived where Ireland,
Scotland, and Wales are today. Samhain began on November 1, but the celebrations began the night

How it got its name is another story entirely the church gave Halloween its name when it
changed the celebration of the Roman Festival of the Dead from February to November 1 a
Church holiday known as All Saint s Day. Another way to say All Saint s was All Hallows
because the term hallows means holy people. The evening before the holiday, October 31
became known as All Hallows Eve, and the church service performed on that evening was called
All Hallow e en. The reason being, think along the lines of when people go to church on
Christmas eve, Halloween was once seen, much like Christmas was and still is seen as a holy
holiday. As for the history of trick or treating, or guising (from disguising ), it began in the
Middle Ages, children and sometimes poor adults would dress up in costumes popular ones
being ghosts and ghouls to scare evil spirits away, would go around door to door during
Halloween begging for food or money in exchange for songs and prayers often said on behalf of
the dead. This was called souling and the children were called soulers , again think Christmas and
carols. But this year s Halloween have its own new rules and traditions and as each generation

A Survey on Transformation of BPMN to BPEL Essay
III.LITERATURE SURVEY Many researchers have studied the transformation between BPMN
and BPEL. Most of the research conducted in this field is analytical in nature. Only few insights
exist into the practical use of BPMN. Most notably is the work of Ouyang et al. [10, 11] and [12],
who propose that BPMN to BPEL transformation be accomplished by multiple phase matching of
pattern and graph transformation. An algorithm for generating readable BPEL code from BPMN
model is presented in [10] which generates BPEL code from BPMN model by discovering
structural patterns in the BPMN models which in turn are mapped into BPEL structured activities.
The original BPD is decomposed into well structured components having one entry and one exit

Event handler is enabled while the scope is under execution and thus the corresponding translation
is based upon the event action rule. The Standard Process Model (SPM) is decomposed into a
collection of event action rules that trigger one another to encode the underlying control flow logic.
The fundamental idea is to define precondition set (i.e., encapsulating all the possible ways of
reaching an activity) for all the activities in SPM. Each precondition set is associated with an
activity and defines the possible way of enabling the activity. Afterwards, all the precondition set
with their associated activities are transformed into event action rule which in turn translates into
BPEL event handlers. However, this approach only holds for one specific process model type by
applying structural restriction on BPDs. Eventually, the resulting BPEL code is not readable and
thus difficult to modify and maintain. Since, a well structured pattern impose restriction on BPDs,
therefore, Ouyang et al.[12] also present another approach that not only maps block structure in
BPMN model but also accounts for quasi structure and flow based acyclic fragment into block
structure BPEL. Quasi structure patterns are those patterns which can exhibit well structuredness
e.g. splitting a gateway into two gateways without changing semantics to separate the incompatible
parts. Three types of

The Importance Of Romantic Literature
In conclusion of her famous Letter to the Women of England, on the Injustice of Mental
Subordination (1799), Mary Robinson listed in alphabetical order the names of over forty
contemporary women writers who by the prevalent injustice and literary subordination were not or
only partially recognized for their contributions to the British literary community of the romanticism
era. The list contained the names of well known and relatively obscure women writers, poets,
novelists, essayists and dramatists, including the likes of well known Mary Wollstonecraft, Ann
Radcliffe, and the relatively unknown author of Biography, letters, c. Mrs. Thickness . In her
closing assertion, she stated that there are men who affect, to think lightly of the literary
productions of women: and yet no works of the present day are so universally read as theirs . This
assertion resonates with Stephen C. Brehrendt s position on the fate and honor accorded to women
writers, novelists, essayists, dramatists and particularly poets of the romanticism era, and the need
to rewrite and remap the concept of influence, and the structuralism literary and cultural theory that
tends to want to place women at the periphery of romantic poetryrather than the center where they
truly belong in his article the New Romanticism for Old: Displacing Our Expectations and Our
Models . In his article, he opined like Mary Robinson, that the activities and literary works of
British women authors were as influential as

7. Support for Government74 There is little to no support for Cuban government. There are
currently political prisoners and human rights movements that are not legally recognized by the
government. Also Cuba has government agencies similar to KGB of Soviet Union, which strictly
investigates and under covers people opposed to government, this they refer to as security of state.
This is something I am hopeful will change followed by more freedom for Cuban citizens.
8. Influence of Anti Business53 The government allows foreign business but has full control to
change anything they want.
9. Public Opinion of Foreign 42
Ownership
Public is kept unaware of most major foreign ownership. For example, there are small islands off
the major island, which have been sold to Italy, Spain and France. The general population is told
that Cuba owns 51% of these islands. However, it is all very unclear being that the islands operate
with Euros. Cubans are not allowed on these islands; therefore I would think they are not happy
with these foreign ownerships.

Characteristics Of Old English Period
Old English Period
In this research paper I will be talking for Old English, Middle English and Modern English Period,
I am going to summarize their main characteristics such as: history, vocabulary, grammar and
writing system. English literature begins before the fourteenth century. The unity of language
consists on the one hand in the insistence of a language which remains from first to last fairly
intelligible and on the other hand in the continuity of written records handed down generation to
generation. These two conditions were not fulfilled in England until the days of Chaucer. The first
contributor is Anglo Saxon literature and the second is the literature imported from France ... Show

The Anglo Saxon poetry is generally wistful in form and edifying in spirit, one long lamentation

English literature have perished and we know that nothing whatever of Old English poetry in its

is that of Beowulf from the 10th century with Judith in it. This manuscript is safely preserved in
the British museum and for the first time it is published in 1815. The second manuscript is the
Exeter Book, third one is Junian Manuscript and the fourth one is Vercelli Book. Though it is very
old this literature has some literal value, it is mainly contained of poetry which may be divided into

However, unlike Jimmy, Ruby is the first out of the five children in Stolen to be chosen by a white
family, where her life becomes a constant cycle of sexual and oppressive abuse, manipulated into
staying quiet with gifts. Throughout this, Ruby continually calls out for her mother, as she longs
for the family and love that she lost at a young age. Progressing through the story, Ruby becomes
an unpaid domestic, vulnerable to constant abuse and suffering, whether mental, physical or sexual,
and gradually loses hope and her mind, as she develops a dreadful mental illness that consumes her.
At the plays revolution, she does not recognise her own family and is noticeably broken, as
everything she once had was taken from her, including her sanity.
Ruby conveys that her personality is rather passive, as she is more fragile over the course of the
play. She does not often interact with the other children and stays quiet, due to her abuse and
manipulation keeping her from developing a true personality at such a young age. This
periodically becomes a clear result from these things, as she has forgotten what it feels like to be
loved and cared for from when she lost her mother.
Physicality:

Who Is The Protagonist In Tartuffe
If I was to choose a character in Tartuffe who served as the hero of the play, I would choose
Elmire, who is Orgon s second wife. Elmire sees through Tartuffe s deceit and attempts to open
her husband s eyes to see the reality of the situation at hand. In the beginning of the play, Elmire
played more of a docile role, but in the later half of the play she emerges as a character of
remarkable intelligence and ends up becoming the primary character that foils Tartuffes scheme to
steal from their family. Tartuffe s attraction to Elmire equips her with a strategy she can use to
expose the evil nature of Tartuffe to Orgon. Elmire expresses her intellectual capacity by forcing
Orgon to watch Tartuff flirt with her and telling him to get under a

Rhetorical Analysis Of Dialectical ( Fahrenheit 451

(11)
Situation: In this passage, he just found his wife after she overdosed. He was looking at her and
describing how her face was white by saying it was like a snow covered island .
Importance: This passage is important to the book because it is a big scene in the book. It is
significant because it shows how he is not really surprised it happened, almost like it happens often.
Analysis: I feel like this passage is worthy of discussion because it is a heavy topic. It impacts the
story because it sets the mood and how the life in this world is. It shows that this type of thing
happens often. It reveals that Mildred is unhappy with her life. I can understand what type of
person she is and I can see how Montag is not really in love with her.
Entry 2:
Passage: Are you happy? she said.
Am I what? he cried.
But she was gone running in the moonlight. Her front door shut gently.
Happy! Of all the nonsense. He stopped laughing.(7 8)
Situation: In this part of the book, Clarisse asked Montag if he was happy. He answered happy,
however he started to think if he really was happy. This made him start to wonder if he really was
happy.
Importance: This passage is important because it s when Montag starts to really wonder if he is
actually happy with his life. It leads him to think throughout the book whether or not he is actually
happy.
Analysis: This passage is worthy of

Dyslexia Essay
The Roles of Genetics and Nurture on People with Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a lifelong struggle with constant challenges with reading and speaking. About five to
ten percent of the United States population deals with the learning disorder dyslexia (Van den
Honert, n.d.). It is a neurological condition that is mainly caused by genetics but there are some
rare cases in which it is acquired. Dyslexia interrupts the normal processes of reading and
speaking (Van den Honert, n.d.). All of which are used in daily life and this makes life and school

They also cannot seem to speak effortlessly. It takes them so long to get thoughts out that when
telling a story they sometimes forget where they were going with it. They know what they want
to say and they know the words they want to use but it takes them so much effort to string them
together. (Boston children s hospital, 2005). This causes a dyslexic so much frustration and
also embarrassment (Boston children s hospital, 2005). There are different tests that can be
done to test for dyslexia. One test that is done is giving a person many words that sounds like
real words but are spelled incorrectly. It is hard for dyslexics to pick these words out (Van den
Honert, n.d.). Also, tactile localization is another test used and it tests the corpus callosum. The
patient is instructed to close their eyes while someone touches their finger and the patient must
identify where they were touched and if they make more than two errors this is a sign of dyslexia
(Van den Honert, n.d.). When a person is diagnosed with dyslexia they must be aware of the
challenges they are going to face. They must be educated about their condition and how it will
never go away they just have to try their hardest to overcome it. As a child it creates frustration and
embarrassment while in class, or even talking with friends. Unfortunately there is no treatment but,
there are strategies and actions taken to help people deal with their dyslexia. Treatment for

Joan Didion s on Going Home- Analysis Essay
In Joan Didion s essay, On Going Home Didion describes her experiences and thoughts on what
defines her meaning of home. Didion uses many asyndetons and polysyndetons to emphasize her
emotions and poses several rhetorical questions. Throughout the essay, Didion poses an important
point that, perhaps her generationis the last to truly know the meaningbehind the word home . The
contributing factors to such conclusion derived from her personal experiences with her direct family
(mother, father, and brother), her husband, and even her own daughter. Didion first sets her
definition of home by clarifying that to her, home means not where [her] husband and [she] and the

Hernan Cortes Essay
Hernan Cortes
Myths are hangups from way back :[1] false or highly inaccurate beliefs that are taken at face
value. One collection of myths which has exercised a powerful grip on the minds of many, and
contributed to feelings of inferiority on the part of large numbers of pure or mixed descendants of
Native Americans in the region of northern Mesoamerica,2 has to do with the conquest of the Aztec
Empire by HernanCortes and his followers in the early sixteenth century. This paper attempts to
shatter one of these myths; namely, that Cortes was an extraordinarily brave and intelligent
individual who accomplished an almost miraculous feat. It will do so by making use of the twin
concepts of virtu and fortuna.

Both decisions were based on his ignorance of the actual power of the Triple Alliance and the
confederation of Tlaxcallan.[7]
Cortes underestimated these two because of his early experiences in Mesoamerica. Although they
initially tried to avoid confrontations with the native communities, the Spaniards had to engage in
several battles against a coalition of Maya armies near Potonchan (located in the present day state
of Tabasco). However, they were able to win these battles thanks to the superiority of their weapons
and military tactics.
The outcome of these skirmishes was quickly known! by the Triple Alliance. As a result, when
Cortes arrived in the region of Totonacapan, this alliance opted in favor of a strategy of deterrence
rather than war. Envoys sent by Tenochtitlan established contact with Cortes and presented him
with a series of lavish gifts that were meant to indicate the might of the Triple Alliance.[8]
However, the strategy backfired because Cortes was unable to grasp the symbolism of the gifts and
interpreted them as a sign of weakness. Moreover, the great quantity of gold given to the Spaniards
made them all the more determined to reach Tenochtitlan.

protein energy malnutrition (PEM) refers to a form of malnutrition where there is lack of calories

Music And Its Influence On Music Essay
Which do you prefer cultivated or vernacular that is the question? Music, the idea of using sounds
for thoughts. Cultivated music can be defined in many different ways, although it is defines as
being music that comes from another country, it is also defined as music that is consciously well
put together. The word culture is almost visible. However, the term cultivated brings a deep
contrast to that of vernacular . Vernacular can be defined as music of the present place. It will be
safe to say that cultivated music carries over into Vernacular music. Cultivated can also be
described as imported music or brought over music. For example, Beethoven SymphonyNo 9,
which sounds like the telling of a story of conquest, has been performed in many places around the
world. Vernacular music can be thought of as music that has been created and raised within a
country. Whether you listen to rap music or not, some critics say the sound changed and is not the
same. For instance, taking into consideration culture and history; the music of 2Pac Shakur was
said to be, too politically charged, while also discussing social issues that haunted the black
community. Although Beethoven Symphony No 9 is a cultivated piece, and the vernacular piece
being from Pac; both music has the same militaristic approach in style. As said before, taking
culture and history into consideration; there are comparisons as well as differences.

Overview of the Research Process for Business Students
What is Research?
People undertake research in order to find things out in a systematic way, thereby increasing their
knowledge (Jankowicz, 1995). Systematic suggests that research is based on logical relationships
and not just beliefs (Ghauri and Gronhaug, 2010). To find things out suggests there are a
multiplicity of possible purposes for your research (Becker, 1998). It is therefore an activity which
has to be finished at some point to be of use.
The results of research really are all around us in everyday life. Politicians often justify their policy
decisions on the basis of research; Newspapers report the findings of research companies.

Secondary data is less valid but it is readily available and can be reused. It is cheaper and quicker

one has to confine the research of secondary data.
The Research Process
Research is not neutral, but reflects a range of the researcher s personal interests, values, abilities,

Collis and Hussey (2003, p.52) highlight two main research philosophies and detail that there can

Pliny s The Alexander Mosaic
The Alexander Mosaic is a Roman floor mosaic that dates from c. 100 B.C. It is discovered in
the city of Pompeii which was preserved in ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. It was found
in the House of Faun, named after the bronze statue of a faun found there. It is thought to be
possibly based on a wall painting done in 315 B.C.E., Hellenistic Period by a Greek artist named
Philoxenos of Eretria because it matches a description of the painting written by Pliny.
The mosaic is approximately 2.72 by 5.13 meters (8 feet 11 inches high and 16 feet and 10
inches) long. It is currently housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, Italy. It
consisted of over one and a half million tesserae (From the Greek word tesseres which means

yellow, red, and black. Several of the colors seen in the mosaic are the natural color of the marble

Eating is a small, good thing in a time like this and they are comforted, reveals particular
significance of the title in terms of the story s theme. Also, Raymond Carver s Cathedral, a story that

After the baker takes all the rage thrown on him by Ann, he in return begs for forgiveness and
gives the parents what they were lacking, that is food. The baker does all this even though he is
alone and virtually makes contact with anybody.
In Raymond s Cathedral, certain similarities can be drawn from the thematic content that is
revealed in both stories. In Cathedral, the theme is expansive, but the ones that are similar in both
stories are communication, and empathy.
The communication theme in this story is much more serious than the one in A Small Good Thing,
the reason being that the narrator has less or no communication whatsoever with his wife. This is
vividly shown in the story where the narrator says When the time rolled around, my wife went to
the depot to pick him up. With nothing to do but wait, I was having a drink and watching TV. (41)
This deficiency of intimacy, intercourse led the narrator to be ignorant but very thoughtful.
However the narrator s thoughtfulness did not lead him to understand that his lack of tolerance was
much more serious than he knew it was.
In A Small Good Thing, as mentioned earlier, after Howard returns home, the baker keeps on
calling him and telling him about the cake, but Howard tells him I don t know anything about a
cake, Jesus what are you talking about? Ann never tells Howard about the cake she ordered before

A Wonderful Monograph By Melissa Archer
Introduction
This is a wonderful monograph by Melissa Archer with a comprehensive study of the theme of
worship in the Apocalypse . It illustrates various aspects of worship and the role of worship in the
Apocalypse. The language of the book and different approaches to the theme are appreciated,
because those are simple and clear to understand the theme.
Summary of the book
The context of the book is well organized. Archer divides her text into five chapters, and every
chapter has an introduction and a summery, which is really helpful to read and get the message at
the first glance.
Chapter one is a survey of modern scholarly literature related to the theme of worship in the
Apocalypse. It is divides into four subtopics; A) The theme of worship as a whole, B) The hymns
in the Apocalypse, C) Revelation 4 5, D) Additional worship scenes.
Chapter two is focused on the methodology for the study engaging North American Pentecostalism
and Pentecostal hermeneutics. In this chapter she introduces the term Wirkungsgeschichte ; how to
discover the worship in the Apocalypse.
Chapter three is a careful reading of the early Pentecostal periodical materials. She explains how
the worship practices of early Pentecostals using both the Wesleyan Holiness and the Finished Work

values, which is shown prominently in the classic tragedy, King Lear. The characters of Lear and
Gloucester discover the effect of injustice through betrayal and the silence of their gods. Their
journeys of self discovery are shown through Shakespeare s use of symbolism, literary devices and
parallelism. Though one could argue that the banishment and dismissal of those close to them
creates an initial catalyst for chaos throughout the kingdom, the fate of these characters calls the
Elizabethan audience to question whether actions or beliefs decide ones destiny.

In this scene, Lear states:
Too little care of this! Take physic, pomp;
Expose thyself to feel what wretches feel,
That thou may st shake the superflux to them
And show the heavens more just (3.4.32 36)
In doing so, Lear strips down to show his vulnerability. Clothing is now nothing more than a mask
used to disguise ones true self. Naked, insane, and isolated out in the storm, Lear sees that the Gods
must be capable of torment, after feeling susceptible from the effects of the storm and the isolation.
The emotional violence that Lear endeavours leads to his insanity, which ultimately plays a critical
role in his development of a character.
Similar to Lear s revolution, Gloucester is the mirror image of Lear s ego. Through
Gloucester s lack of appreciation and his selfish acts, he inherits the illusion of trust from him two
sons where only one stays loyal. Injustice causes the turning of Edmund
Gloucester s evil son shown through an un natural uprising of father to son, ending ultimately with
the betrayal between Gloucester and Edmund. Similarly to Lear

Jim Jones Visionary Leader/Ethical Leader Synthesis Essay
In this essay I will explain why Jim Jones was a Visionary Leader but by no means an ethical
leader. In many ways Jim Jones was decades ahead of his time with regards to social issues. His
leadership helped many disadvantaged people in Indianapolis, Indiana. At first glance it may appear
he used his Visionary Leadership for a higher cause; however his unethical pursuits, ultimately
resulted in the downfall of his church, his followers and himself when 914 members of his
congregation committed suicide after drinking the Kool Aid .

Those people who were deemed not suitable were discarded. By culling his congregation in this
manner Jim Jones was able to build a team, which would fulfill his goal of a socialist utopian
society. Unhappy with the racial climate of the 1960s in Indianna, Jim Jones moved his
congregation to California (Ryan, 2011) in order to further unify the church. By fostering an
inclusive environment (USAF) he was able to create value for the church members. Once the
church was moved, Jim Jones began to develop the next phase of his plan.
While in California Jim Jones met with his inner circle and developed a plan to move his vision
of a socialist society outside the US to avoid government oversight. The team conducted research
and discovered that land in Ghana was cheep and the local population spoke English. A key point
in this phase of his plan was to raise the necessary money to fund the project. This was conducted
through an incremental raising of the recommended tithing from 10% to 25%. Shortly thereafter
Jim Jones convinced his followers to sell all of their belonging and give the money to the Peoples
Temple. Having raised the required money, Jim Jones was ready to begin the next phase of his
plan. His followers were now socially and economically dependent on the Peoples Temple.
Jim Jones formed an advanced team to go to Ghana and prepare the site of the Peoples Temple
compound. After

The Rights Of Gay Rights In The LGBT Rights
LGBT rights are one of the most argued rights today. These rights are protected by the Fourteenth
Amendment. This amendment states that you cannot deny a person equal protection, and some
people completely ignore this when it comes to the LGBT community. People tend to believe that if
someone is a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and so forth, that there is something wrong with
them and that they need help. That s not the case at all. People in the LGBTcommunity are just
like everyone else that isn t in that category. They re trying to be true to who they are and that is
so hard when you know that so many people in this world are disgusted by gays. Everyone
deserves love, whether it be from someone of the opposite sex or the same sex. Some people see
two girls together and think that it s inappropriate or disgusting , and that they should be with a
man. Heterosexuality is the sexuality that most parents force upon their children whether they
notice it or not. Do you have a boyfriend? is one way that a parent is throwing heterosexuality in
their daughter s face. It s not that their being forceful about it, or even trying to be rude, it s just
the most common thing of what they re used to, but it s not always going to be that way. It s
crucial to know that there are people in this world that are gay, lesbian, and bisexual. I m in no
way trying to speak for the LGBT community, but my goal concerning this paper is to discuss
Supreme Court cases on same sex couples and to cover areas where the LGBT community
Lambert 2 may not always get treated as equally as straight people. To being with, a Supreme
Court case that was tried was the case of Bowers v. Hardwick in 1986. This case occurred after a
man named Michael Hardwick was found in bed with another man. Hardwick was charged with
sodomy and was taken to Court. Hardwick argued that it was a right of privacy and believed that
his relationship didn t concern others. The Court disagreed, and ruled 5 to 4 that the right of
privacy was not protected in cases with homosexual adults, even if they had consented. The charges
against Hardwick were dropped, and a man named Justice Powell, a member of majority, said that
his vote was mistaken. Powell thought that if

Chemical Reactivity Lab Report
One discrepancy that has to be explained would be for Part F(Chemical Reactivity
Of Some Representative Elements), question 3 is we failed to obtain a result because time ran out
before we could complete the experiment. However, based on my research, the calcium hydroxide
salt would be more soluble than the magnesium hydroxide salt because the calcium is more reactive
than magnesium. This is because calcium has 20 electrons thus, an electronic configuration of
2.8.8.2. However, magnesium has 12 electrons thus, an electronic configuration of 2.8.2 . In other
words, calcium has four electron shells but magnesium has three making it easier for calcium to

Thus, Chlorine would be the most electronegative, followed by Bromine and finally Iodine. Plus,
a higher halogen will be able to displace a lower halogen from its halide solution. The next
concept is the reaction between an alkali metal and water, specifically sodium metal and water.
Before the reaction, the sodium metal was stored in kerosene to prevent it from reacting with
the moisture or oxygen that is in the air. This is because sodium is a very reactive metal and will
easily react with the moisture present in the air to form sodium hydroxide. This is an extremely
strong exothermic reaction and a lot of heat is generated. Moving on, when sodium is placed into
a test tube containing water and phenolphtalein, a vigorous reaction takes place where sodium
hydroxide along with hydrogen gas is formed. The presence of the sodium hydroxide can
confirmed by the change in color of the phenolpthalein to pink while the presence of the hydrogen
gas can be confirmed by placing a glowing wooden splinter into the test tube and hearing a pop
sound.
The last concept is comparing the reactivity of metals specifically magnesium and

My Professional Development Goals Have Been Established...
Statement of Personal Goals
My professional development goals have been established along the DPT program. As I was
taking classes I had defining moments where I could clearly see my career direction moving
forward. I have become more conscious about the importance of pursuing high quality continuing
education courses and professional development opportunities, beneficial not only to me, but to the
over ninety therapists working at our practice and the 20+ Level II students coming for their
clinical internships at our agency every year. As we all have been instructed, we are accountable for
learning and change (American Physical Therapy Association, 2012). Also, under the core value of
professional duty, we are called to mentor others to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To achieve this goal, I will be working closely with the University of Central Florida DPT program
in small research studies involving children and families in our practice. Currently, two grants
requests have been submitted pursuing funds for research activities. My goal is to tap into one to
four grant opportunities per year to expand our investigative initiatives program.
As part of my professional growth, effective this upcoming summer, I also would like to enhance an
existing program at our therapy practice where we discuss research articles. Part of the
enhancement plan includes not only sharing the articles but evaluating and critiquing them. One
critical appraisal tool under consideration to be used at our agency for that purpose is the Center
for Evidence Based Medicine Critical Appraisal Worksheets (2017). In a cross sectional study
performed by Kamwendo and Tornquist (2001) discussing the perceptions of OT and PT students
in Sweden toward research related activities, results showed students using problem based learning
are more inclined to engage in investigative and experimentation studies. We all need to exercise
the core value of excellence by using evidence consistently to support our professional decisions
and interventions. A second goal I am excited to pursue is

The Importance Of My High School Band
I play the French horn in my high school band. Our band is small only 25 30 members but we
are a family. Each class I see the determination on each person s face to do well because there s
the constant pressure of letting the rest of the band down. Because we are so small, each person
has to play to the absolute best of their abilities; each individual person needs to be a strong
player in order for our band to sound good. I ve played in larger bands on several occasions and I
was shocked to see that some kids would just... not play. Our band cannot afford that leniency.
Our size in itself is a challenge. However, I have personal struggles within the band as well. There
have only been two French horn players in my band for the entirety of my high school career:
myself and the number one horn player in the state, Cross. My whole life I have played second to
an amazing musician but while I improved by playing with him, I also never received any
recognition for my personal achievements or was ever granted the primary leadership position.
I often struggle to comprehend how good of a player I am, especially because I have performance
anxiety which hinders me during auditions and most performances. I constantly compare myself to
this amazing player who auditions well, who is regularly being recognized for musical
achievements, and who can never quite understand the concept of humility. He never understood
my struggle, so I was left adrift in an overwhelming sea of ineptitude.

A Case Study On South Florida Real Estate
7.A Case Study
Let s imagine you have to sell a rather expensive condo in Hallandale Beach, Florida, which is
essentially a middle class town right north of Miami with a splash of a luxury building here or
there, and you happen to have this property for sale in one of those luxury buildings with the
market price more than twice the average price around town. So, it is hard to think that a local
interest would be extremely high, plus you know that a neighbor s apartment has been sitting on the
market with a local real estate agent for a while without a good and solid offer, plus there is a bit
of an issue with some banks to approve mortgages for this building. It is really time to think of
reaching foreign investors in South ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Please note that the internet is ever changing and what was seen at the time of these searches and

speaking Canadians from the province of Quebec love Florida and French at the same time.
Searching Canadian Google in French for immobilier Г Hallandale Beach Floride (the translation
that we got from the free online translator and consider correct, but who knows?) we can see not
so overcrowded environment, no big names and no paid ads at all which means that you can be
a good appealing choice for about five million French Canadians if they see your condo for sale

estate prices had never fallen along with American because of much stronger mortgage approval
rules in Canada, and just a couple of years ago Canadians used to borrow against their expensive
homes in Canada to buy cheap Florida homes for their future retirement with this cash. Now the
Florida real estate prices are going up; also the Canadian dollar was equal to the American buck a
couple of years ago, which is not the case anymore as the world s low oil prices

  • 2. How Youth Workers Can Help With The Issue Of Young Offenders This essay will examine how youth workers can help with the issue of young offenders, with the use of relevant policies along with historical and current context to show how. It will also point out key policies and legislative frameworks linked to young offenders and how these policies promote social justice and equality. The term young offender refers to a person (male or female between the ages of 10 17) who has been convicted of or cautioned about a criminal offence. The term young offender is often used because the criminal justice system deals with young people who offend in a different way to adults who offend (ACS Distance Education 2011). Crime is a widespread issue in society and criminal activities are beginning to get worse. Along with that a lot of young people are now getting involved in criminal activities. Statistics show that there were over 47,000 criminals between the ages of 16 21 committing crimes (Whitehead 2014). There are many reason why young people choose to commit crimes, these would include problems at home, peer pressure, boredom, poverty etc. it was found that poverty is one of the main reasons that young people turn to crime due to job cuts and other factors (Association of Chief Officers of Probation 1993). A report was carried out in Southmead and it showed that young people were the only group that were identified as criminals (Brent 2006:26). The main conflict between adults and young people seems to be based around behaviour in public. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hotel California Rhetorical Devices Glenn Frey, the co founder of the Eagles, was a middle class kid living in the midwest. He dreamed of acquiring tremendous wealth in Los Angeles, but later realized that there are more important things than money. In their song, Hotel California, originally titled Mexican Reggae, they (The Eagles) express this idea to their audience through lyrics that convey the idea that there are more important things than just possessions, and there are negatives to the American Dream. The audience in this could be the average person, yet, the rhetorical devices in The EaglesHotel Californiaare intended to reveal to the audience that there are negatives to the American Dream, and you shouldn t change who you are in order to make it rich. In Hotel California, The Eagles use antithesis, to show a contrast in the American Dream by stating there are both positives and negatives by comparing them both as heaven and hell. Frey uses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case Frey uses epithet to describe a hotel in LA. The hotel represents his American dream of wanting to acquire tremendous wealth in the West. He described this dream with admiration when he says Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim I had to stop for the night. When he uses the term shimmering light it is taken as a positive attribute because objects that shimmer are often taken as being valuable, much like the materialistic items associated with the American dream. When he states his sight grew dim and I had to stop for the night, this represents the underbelly of American Materialism. As a country, Americans are never satisfied with what they have. This is why he describes it as dim and heavy, both of which are taken as having negative connotations. Once again Frey represents both sides by using an adjective to modify a noun and make it more clear and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Great Recession The Great Recession of 2008 was the biggest global financial crisis that the world witnessed after the Great Depression of the 1930s. Collapsing markets, failure of banks and drastic decrease in international trade were just some key characteristics of the great recession. It became clear after the collapse of the capitalist ideology enforced by United Statesthat this was the end of America centred age of globalization (Lecture 2). This paper will compare and contrast the key characteristics of the great recession and the great depression. It will also emphasize that the root causes of the financial collapse of 2008 were first, unfavourable macroeconomic factors such as increasing deficits in the current account of advanced countries and loose... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baldwin in his book, The Great Trade Collapse , explains that the financial collapse was very sudden and synchronized which increased its severity. The trade collapse in 2008 was not as severe as the Great Depression, however, the fall was very quick as it took 9 months for trade to fall at the same level which took 24 months in 1930s (Baldwin, Pg. 1). The gradual trade collapse was an initial sign that a severe financial crisis is about to come as countries that were dependent on commodity exports (oil and minerals) were hit the most which includes Canada as well. Additionally, uncertainty about the future spread globally and as a result people began to delay their unnecessary expenses. With consumption rate decreasing globally, imports and exports were adversely affected as well resulting into decreasing GDP in US, European Union and Japan (Baldwin, 2009). It can be concluded from the stated facts that the nature of the Great Recession was widespread primarily due to the internationalization of trade. Capitalism, with its main concept of globalization had made the great recession a global phenomenon since after the triumph of United States in Cold War, capitalism was adopted as the new world order. The expansion of MNCs and global supply chains which were created to reduce operational costs meant that disruption in one country of operation would likely cause problems with associated subsidiaries in other countries. Thus, the connectedness of the financial markets and trade contributed in creating a synchronized and severe recession ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Race Riots Of The Civil Rights Movement In 1965, people has sunk back into complacency with the relatively few gains they had achieved in the civil rights movement. A new development also appeared in the form of President Lyndon Johnson s voting rights act but before this would happen the greatest race riot of that time exploded in Watts, Los Angeles. The riot was a culmination of racial tension and anger that came with the lower class black experience. The riot paved the way for more separatism in American society; notions of racial unity had been drowned out. Another similar explosion of black outrage happened in West Chicago and also then followed in other major cities like Boston, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Newark, Detroit etc. Massive property damage and numerous black lives were ... The expansion of their in store Sephora locations will hopefully lead to additional impulse buys in other areas of the store. Also there is room in niche markets underserved by their competitors, such as big and tall clothing and maternity wear. Finally, there is ample room for the company to expand internet sales not only in the United States but also internationally. Threats What threats does JC Penney not face? They are in an uphill battle against a crowd of competing retailers. They are attempting to offer low everyday prices which put them in line with bargain retailers such as Kohl s, and Target, while at the same time attempting to become a more classy, higher end store along the lines of Macy s, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales. JC Penney views all these companies as competitors as seen in their own proxy statement. JC Penney is not as large as some of its competitors, many of which have more substantial resources and are constantly attacking their market share. The company also faces threats from economic conditions, such as high unemployment and the recent recession. When consumers are under financial pressures can easily decide to shop elsewhere, such as Kohl s, Target, and even the dreaded Walmart. Even the perception of better value can drive consumers elsewhere. Also, shopping mall popularity is shrinking, with some retailers focusing on and consumers preferring stand alone locations similar to Kohl s. Over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Parent-Infant Bonding Coping Mechanisms of Ritual and Alienation: The Systemic Effect of Poverty on Parent Infant Bonding According to attachment theory (Berger 2014; Fonagy, 2006), one of the most important factors in the development of both the child and the adult is the bonding that happens in the sensitivity period after birth. Though researchers disagree on the extent and determinative characteristics of this period (Fonagy), the general consensus is that bonding is more beneficial for both parent and infant than a lack of bonding (Berger, 2014, p. 69). Some European countries view this period as so critical that natural births in the home are preferred and new mothers are given a year long leave of absence to care for and bond with their new infants (p. 66).... It is important that a security polices and training be required to assist in preventing these threats from occurring. It has been estimated that insider threats make up to 30% of all major securitybreaches. These threats include sabotage, theft, fraud, black mail, and violent actions. It is important to note people who commit such acts are normally former employees, current employees, and third party contractors. The following security proposal should be implemented with great hast due to the nature of our work overseas (Deloitte, 2016). We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally grew up , and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven t made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We ve painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it ll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it s not nearly as fun as creating the painting. These traditions are part of Halloween, a holiday known for fun, games and of course candy. At least in this day and age, the excitement that the public feels for this undocumented holiday isn t the same as it was 2,000 years ago. For the story of Halloween dates back thousands of years to a festival called Samhain(pronounced sow in). A group of people known as the Celts celebrated it to mark the end of the harvest season. They lived where Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are today. Samhain began on November 1, but the celebrations began the night before, on October 31. Families would gather for big... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How it got its name is another story entirely the church gave Halloween its name when it changed the celebration of the Roman Festival of the Dead from February to November 1 a Church holiday known as All Saint s Day. Another way to say All Saint s was All Hallows because the term hallows means holy people. The evening before the holiday, October 31 became known as All Hallows Eve, and the church service performed on that evening was called All Hallow e en. The reason being, think along the lines of when people go to church on Christmas eve, Halloween was once seen, much like Christmas was and still is seen as a holy holiday. As for the history of trick or treating, or guising (from disguising ), it began in the Middle Ages, children and sometimes poor adults would dress up in costumes popular ones being ghosts and ghouls to scare evil spirits away, would go around door to door during Halloween begging for food or money in exchange for songs and prayers often said on behalf of the dead. This was called souling and the children were called soulers , again think Christmas and carols. • 17. A Survey on Transformation of BPMN to BPEL Essay III.LITERATURE SURVEY Many researchers have studied the transformation between BPMN and BPEL. Most of the research conducted in this field is analytical in nature. Only few insights exist into the practical use of BPMN. Most notably is the work of Ouyang et al. [10, 11] and [12], who propose that BPMN to BPEL transformation be accomplished by multiple phase matching of pattern and graph transformation. An algorithm for generating readable BPEL code from BPMN model is presented in [10] which generates BPEL code from BPMN model by discovering structural patterns in the BPMN models which in turn are mapped into BPEL structured activities. The original BPD is decomposed into well structured components having one entry and one exit point.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Event handler is enabled while the scope is under execution and thus the corresponding translation is based upon the event action rule. The Standard Process Model (SPM) is decomposed into a collection of event action rules that trigger one another to encode the underlying control flow logic. The fundamental idea is to define precondition set (i.e., encapsulating all the possible ways of reaching an activity) for all the activities in SPM. Each precondition set is associated with an activity and defines the possible way of enabling the activity. Afterwards, all the precondition set with their associated activities are transformed into event action rule which in turn translates into BPEL event handlers. However, this approach only holds for one specific process model type by applying structural restriction on BPDs. Eventually, the resulting BPEL code is not readable and thus difficult to modify and maintain. Since, a well structured pattern impose restriction on BPDs, therefore, Ouyang et al.[12] also present another approach that not only maps block structure in BPMN model but also accounts for quasi structure and flow based acyclic fragment into block structure BPEL. Quasi structure patterns are those patterns which can exhibit well structuredness e.g. splitting a gateway into two gateways without changing semantics to separate the incompatible parts. The Importance Of Romantic Literature In conclusion of her famous Letter to the Women of England, on the Injustice of Mental Subordination (1799), Mary Robinson listed in alphabetical order the names of over forty contemporary women writers who by the prevalent injustice and literary subordination were not or only partially recognized for their contributions to the British literary community of the romanticism era. The list contained the names of well known and relatively obscure women writers, poets, novelists, essayists and dramatists, including the likes of well known Mary Wollstonecraft, Ann Radcliffe, and the relatively unknown author of Biography, letters, c. In her closing assertion, she stated that there are men who affect, to think lightly of the literary productions of women: and yet no works of the present day are so universally read as theirs . This assertion resonates with Stephen C. Brehrendt s position on the fate and honor accorded to women writers, novelists, essayists, dramatists and particularly poets of the romanticism era, and the need to rewrite and remap the concept of influence, and the structuralism literary and cultural theory that tends to want to place women at the periphery of romantic poetryrather than the center where they truly belong in his article the New Romanticism for Old: Displacing Our Expectations and Our Models . Characteristics Of Old English Period Old English Period In this research paper I will be talking for Old English, Middle English and Modern English Period, I am going to summarize their main characteristics such as: history, vocabulary, grammar and writing system. English literature begins before the fourteenth century. The unity of language consists on the one hand in the insistence of a language which remains from first to last fairly intelligible and on the other hand in the continuity of written records handed down generation to generation. Progressing through the story, Ruby becomes an unpaid domestic, vulnerable to constant abuse and suffering, whether mental, physical or sexual, and gradually loses hope and her mind, as she develops a dreadful mental illness that consumes her. At the plays revolution, she does not recognise her own family and is noticeably broken, as everything she once had was taken from her, including her sanity. Ruby conveys that her personality is rather passive, as she is more fragile over the course of the play. She does not often interact with the other children and stays quiet, due to her abuse and manipulation keeping her from developing a true personality at such a young age. This periodically becomes a clear result from these things, as she has forgotten what it feels like to be loved and cared for from when she lost her mother. Physicality: Ruby s movement is frantic and twitchy, with impulsive turns and looks, always fearful and anxious. Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing Raymond Carver s A Small Good Thing, a short story that has to do with the lack of interaction and empathy between the baker, Ann and Howard, the finale where the baker is startled to find out about the child s death, asks for mercy and presents them warm cinnamon rolls telling them that Eating is a small, good thing in a time like this and they are comforted, reveals particular significance of the title in terms of the story s theme. The baker does all this even though he is alone and virtually makes contact with anybody. In Raymond s Cathedral, certain similarities can be drawn from the thematic content that is revealed in both stories. In Cathedral, the theme is expansive, but the ones that are similar in both stories are communication, and empathy. The communication theme in this story is much more serious than the one in A Small Good Thing, the reason being that the narrator has less or no communication whatsoever with his wife. This is vividly shown in the story where the narrator says When the time rolled around, my wife went to the depot to pick him up. With nothing to do but wait, I was having a drink and watching TV. (41) This deficiency of intimacy, intercourse led the narrator to be ignorant but very thoughtful. However the narrator s thoughtfulness did not lead him to understand that his lack of tolerance was much more serious than he knew it was. In A Small Good Thing, as mentioned earlier, after Howard returns home, the baker keeps on calling him and telling him about the cake, but Howard tells him I don t know anything about a cake, Jesus what are you talking about? Ann never tells Howard about the cake she ordered before Scott s accident. Here the lack of communication theme is less serious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It illustrates various aspects of worship and the role of worship in the Apocalypse. The language of the book and different approaches to the theme are appreciated, because those are simple and clear to understand the theme. Summary of the book The context of the book is well organized. Archer divides her text into five chapters, and every chapter has an introduction and a summery, which is really helpful to read and get the message at the first glance. Chapter one is a survey of modern scholarly literature related to the theme of worship in the Apocalypse. It is divides into four subtopics; A) The theme of worship as a whole, B) The hymns in the Apocalypse, C) Revelation 4 5, D) Additional worship scenes. Chapter two is focused on the methodology for the study engaging North American Pentecostalism and Pentecostal hermeneutics. In this chapter she introduces the term Wirkungsgeschichte ; how to discover the worship in the Apocalypse. Chapter three is a careful reading of the early Pentecostal periodical materials. The selfish desire for power overtakes all morals and values, which is shown prominently in the classic tragedy, King Lear. The characters of Lear and Gloucester discover the effect of injustice through betrayal and the silence of their gods. Their journeys of self discovery are shown through Shakespeare s use of symbolism, literary devices and parallelism. Though one could argue that the banishment and dismissal of those close to them creates an initial catalyst for chaos throughout the kingdom, the fate of these characters calls the Elizabethan audience to question whether actions or beliefs decide ones destiny. Clothing is now nothing more than a mask used to disguise ones true self. Naked, insane, and isolated out in the storm, Lear sees that the Gods must be capable of torment, after feeling susceptible from the effects of the storm and the isolation. The emotional violence that Lear endeavours leads to his insanity, which ultimately plays a critical role in his development of a character. Similar to Lear s revolution, Gloucester is the mirror image of Lear s ego. Through Gloucester s lack of appreciation and his selfish acts, he inherits the illusion of trust from him two sons where only one stays loyal. Visionary Leader Essay [Title Here, up to 12 Words, on One to Two Lines] Jim Jones Visionary Leader/Ethical Leader Synthesis Essay In this essay I will explain why Jim Jones was a Visionary Leader but by no means an ethical leader. In many ways Jim Jones was decades ahead of his time with regards to social issues. His leadership helped many disadvantaged people in Indianapolis, Indiana. At first glance it may appear he used his Visionary Leadership for a higher cause; however his unethical pursuits, ultimately resulted in the downfall of his church, his followers and himself when 914 members of his congregation committed suicide after drinking the Kool Aid . Unhappy with the racial climate of the 1960s in Indianna, Jim Jones moved his congregation to California (Ryan, 2011) in order to further unify the church. By fostering an inclusive environment (USAF) he was able to create value for the church members. Once the church was moved, Jim Jones began to develop the next phase of his plan. While in California Jim Jones met with his inner circle and developed a plan to move his vision of a socialist society outside the US to avoid government oversight. The team conducted research and discovered that land in Ghana was cheep and the local population spoke English. A key point in this phase of his plan was to raise the necessary money to fund the project. This was conducted through an incremental raising of the recommended tithing from 10% to 25%. Shortly thereafter Jim Jones convinced his followers to sell all of their belonging and give the money to the Peoples Temple. Having raised the required money, Jim Jones was ready to begin the next phase of his plan. His followers were now socially and economically dependent on the Peoples Temple. • 44. The Rights Of Gay Rights In The LGBT Rights LGBT rights are one of the most argued rights today. These rights are protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. This amendment states that you cannot deny a person equal protection, and some people completely ignore this when it comes to the LGBT community. People tend to believe that if someone is a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and so forth, that there is something wrong with them and that they need help. That s not the case at all. People in the LGBTcommunity are just like everyone else that isn t in that category. They re trying to be true to who they are and that is so hard when you know that so many people in this world are disgusted by gays. Everyone deserves love, whether it be from someone of the opposite sex or the same sex. Some people see two girls together and think that it s inappropriate or disgusting , and that they should be with a man. Heterosexuality is the sexuality that most parents force upon their children whether they notice it or not. Do you have a boyfriend? is one way that a parent is throwing heterosexuality in their daughter s face. It s not that their being forceful about it, or even trying to be rude, it s just the most common thing of what they re used to, but it s not always going to be that way. It s crucial to know that there are people in this world that are gay, lesbian, and bisexual. I m in no way trying to speak for the LGBT community, but my goal concerning this paper is to discuss Supreme Court cases on same sex couples and to cover areas where the LGBT community Lambert 2 may not always get treated as equally as straight people. To being with, a Supreme Court case that was tried was the case of Bowers v. Hardwick in 1986. This case occurred after a man named Michael Hardwick was found in bed with another man. Hardwick was charged with sodomy and was taken to Court. Hardwick argued that it was a right of privacy and believed that his relationship didn t concern others. The Court disagreed, and ruled 5 to 4 that the right of privacy was not protected in cases with homosexual adults, even if they had consented. The charges against Hardwick were dropped, and a man named Justice Powell, a member of majority, said that his vote was mistaken. Powell thought that if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before the reaction, the sodium metal was stored in kerosene to prevent it from reacting with the moisture or oxygen that is in the air. This is because sodium is a very reactive metal and will easily react with the moisture present in the air to form sodium hydroxide. This is an extremely strong exothermic reaction and a lot of heat is generated. Moving on, when sodium is placed into a test tube containing water and phenolphtalein, a vigorous reaction takes place where sodium hydroxide along with hydrogen gas is formed. Each class I see the determination on each person s face to do well because there s the constant pressure of letting the rest of the band down. Because we are so small, each person has to play to the absolute best of their abilities; each individual person needs to be a strong player in order for our band to sound good. I ve played in larger bands on several occasions and I was shocked to see that some kids would just... not play. Our band cannot afford that leniency. Our size in itself is a challenge.
