Hyperpluralism In California
A theory explains and can predict something. There are several theories that try to explain who
governs California and why. Of the several theories included in California politics, there is the
democratic theory, elite theory, pluralist theory, and hyperpluralism. Of these four theories, most
tend to be influenced by one theory as each as their own beliefs to better explain how politics
works. Hyperpluralism seems to do a better job at explaining the politics of Californiawhen
compared to the others. The democratic theory believes that everyone governs and has the most
influence on politics in California. According to the democratic theory, voters have their own
power to decide what laws to approve or disapprove by the state legislature. They also have the
power to choose their own legislation, as well as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those two classes are the ones who rule and the second is the rest who do not rule. According to
the text, Government is always government by the few, whether in the name of the few, the one,
or the many (13). Those who make up the elites are generally the wealthier population. The Big
Four is an example of elites who used their political power to control those who do not have their
own power. The Big Four helped contribute to California s land development and growth.
In contrast, hyperpluralism is a theory that explains politics in a more relatable way. No one
governs instead power is thinly scattered . Lawrence states how the exercise of political power has
become a highly competitive tug of war between institutions, policymakers, political parties,
numerous interest groups, and voters (14). There are ample amounts of evidence in California
politics. There are several components that contribute to this evidence such as individualism in
political life, growing diversity of group interests, and a change in the nature of majoritarian

Benefits Of Single Species Recovery Programmes
World conservation is at a crossroads of judgement making and New Zealand provides an
extreme example of issues and possible solutions. On the positive side, more than 30% of total
land area in New Zealand has been set aside for as National Parks (DOC, n.d.) and various
reserved land and is run by the Department of Conservation. Single species recovery programmes
have been successful with the use of eradication of offshore islands pests to for reintroduction of
threatened onshore species such as the Kakapo on Cod fish island. However, this is in marked
contrast to biodiversity decline with up to 50% of native birds threatened due to introduced pests
such as mustelids and possums. With legislation (Conservation Act 1987), public opinion and
changes in current practices, conservation and development might be able to coexist to a point
where each can be sustainable (Craig, 2000).
Brief history of land conservation in New Zealand till 1969
New Zealand is a special place as it was the last major land form to be settled as it is separated by
large oceans so was largely unknown. Before the first settlers arrived, the country had been
isolated for some 85 million years with the result of different plant life, large and flightless birds as
well as no ground living mammals ( Conservation a history , n.d.).
With the early Maori and European settlers bringing in mammals for sport and food, this had a
devastating effect on the endemic wildlife population with up to 40% of species

Gogebic Taconite Mine Report

Gogebic Taconite Mine Report
Introduction
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is an agency of the great state of Wisconsin. The
WDNR s purpose is to protect, maintain, and preserve the resources of Wisconsin. We as
representatives of the WDNR feel that the mine may not be the best way to uphold our prime
directive. The negative effect that the mine will have on the environment far outway the positive
effect. The creation of this mine will impact the watershed, the flora, the fauna, the human health,
and the community,
Effect On The Watershed
The creation of the Gogebic Taconite mine could cause many problems in the surrounding
waterways. The first problem with the creation of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roads would have to be added due to work needed to run this mine. With the addition of these
roads, animals that used to travel that area would be hit by the new traffic. Many endangered
species for instance: trumpeter swan, bald eagle, piping plover, wood turtle would be in direct
danger from the mining operation. The mine would take away the habitat that all the animals
including the endangered species lives in.
Effect on the Human Health
This mine would expose us to many dangerous metals and minerals that, if not handled correctly
could contaminate the water we drink, the food we eat, and the air we breathe. The minerals that
could be found in the formation are mercury, asbestos, arsenates, sulfates, silicate dusts, and many
other poisonous or potentially poisonous minerals.
Community Problems
The area around the mine would be closed to the public as well. The miles of land that once was
open to the public for hunting, fishing, and sightseeing would be closed and never be the same
again. The area under the Managed Forest Law that Gogebic Taconite wants to close will equal
3,500 acres of land (see Appendix B). While the mine is running, people would not be able to enjoy
the beauty that will be changed once the mining is

David Schön Model Of Reflective Practice
As important as methods may be, the most practical thing we can achieve in any kind of work is
insight into what is happening inside us as we do it. The more familiar we are with our inner
terrain, the more sure footed our [work] and living becomes. P. J. Palmer (cited in Skovholt, T. M.,
2001).
The pursuit for self awareness or self understanding is a chief factor of valuable reflective practice.
Counsellors need not only to be conscious of their abilities, facts and presentation as professionals,
but also wary of any private aspects that may mess with or obstruct their capability to supply an

Applying the Concept of Bipower to China s One Child Policy
Michel Foucault was a French philosopher and one of the most influential social theorists of the
second half of the twentieth century. He was born on the 15th of October 1936 and passed away
on the 25th June 1984. His theories addressed the relationship between power and knowledge, and
how they are used as a form of social control. His analysis breaks the concept of power apart, and
his theory explains differences in various modes of power. In his study the History of Sexuality, he
explores in the firth volume called Right of Death and Power over Life the triangle of power: (I)
sovereign power; (II) disciplinary power; and (III) biopower. In this essay I will describe the
relationship between each power and apply the concept of biopower to China s one child Policy.
First what is Biopower? Well according to Foucault, biopower is a technology of power, which
is a way of managing and controlling entire populations. Biopower led to the emergence of the
modern nation state and capitalism. Foucault describes it as an explosion of numerous and
diverse techniques for achieving the subjugations of bodies and the control of populations
(Foucault 140). The primary and most important goal of biopower is life. The government goal is
to secure and improve people s lives. Power is exercised exclusively over life, and is exercised
either to foster life or to disallow it. Biopower according to Foucault is a power that exerts a
positive influence on life, that endeavours to

The Black Hills Of South Dakota
Lets take a trip back in time to 1884 in the Black Hills of South Dakota. A New York lawyer had
just traveled there to inspect mining claims in that region. The man s name was Charles E.
Rushmore. Rushmore was curious by one of the mountains and asked a towns person what the
name of the mountain was. The towns person replied saying it had no name. From then on Charles
Rushmore started calling it Rushmore Peak. Over time it became known as Mount Rushmore
(history.com). During the following years the area of the Black Hillsdecided they wanted to start
attracting tourist the region. I the early 1920s the state historian of South Dakota, Doane Robinson,
came up with an idea to attract tourist. He thought of the idea to to carve famous historic heroes of
the west into the side of the mountain (history.com). In 1924, Robinson decided to contact the
famous American sculptor, Gutzon Borgium, about his idea. Borgium at the time was working on
another project for Georgia, but Robinson was able to convince him to abandon his project and
come
Before picture of Mount Rushmore to the Black Hills. When Borgium arrived in South Dakota he
suggested that they use George Washington and Abraham Lincoln because of their significance to
America. Later, he also decided to add Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt. Robinson and
Borgium both decided that the sculpture would be dedicated to these four men to recognize their
contributions to the birth of democracy and growth of the United States.

Jacob Research Paper
Today s text describes Jacob s fight with a man.
Jacob wrestled with the man until daybreak.
During the hard fighting, the man struck Jacob s hip, which was put out of joint.
Despite great pain, Jacob was fighting against the man without giving up
At last, the man ardently asked Jacob, Let me go, for the day is breaking. (32:26)
From this scene, we wonder, why didn t Jacob allow the man to go?
Clearly, we are able to know the answer from Jacob s saying.
I will not let you go, unless you bless me. (32:26)
To Jacob, the reason to fight with the man was to receive a blessing.
Why did Jacob need the blessing, even putting his life in danger?
In order to answer the question, we first should look at his life.
Jacob was a born fighter.
Even before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarding this, the prophet, Hosea said that [Jacob] wept and sought his favor. (Hosea 12:4)
Then, a wonderful thing happened.
The man wrestling with Jacob asked, What is your name? (32:27)
And, Jacob answered, Jacob. (32:27)
Then the man said to Jacob, You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel,
For you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed. (32:28)
Now, we can answer to the question I raised at the beginning of this sermon.
Why Jacob needed a blessing, even putting his life in danger?
In fact, Jacob s past life was to plunder Esau s birthright and blessing.
Jacob was a thief and a bad fighter.
So, in order to face Esau confidently, he urgently needed a true blessing gained through a fair fight.
At that time, God was willing to fight with Jacob to give an opportunity to fight in a right way, to
give a blessing through the new name, Israel.
Through the fight, God made Jacob reconcile with himself.
Through the name, God gave Jacob new personality.
You have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed.
Now, Jacob was ready to meet Esau.
Now, Jacob was ready to go forward.

Difference Between Thanks And Apologies
For a long time, the good behaviors have become a standard in appreciating the human personality.
Thanks and apologies are one of the manifestations of a culture, politeness in social relations.
When thanks and apologies are showed honestly, on one hand reflects the qualities of the
individual. On the other hand they can help people understand each other more easily. In many
cases, thanks or apologies not only bring joy to recipients, but also clear away the problems,
troubles, so that people live more altruistic.
Thanks, someone helped us do something; even it s too small, that words make pleasant

Some people apologize and correct a mistake; other people don t. Saying thanks or sorry is a matter
of awareness, showing civilized behavior. Saying thanks and apologies expresses the best qualities
and education level of the person.
But nowadays, thanks and apologies tend to decrease in social communication. In a lot of cases,
some people ask for directions but forgot to thank. Many of you think it s their jobs, but you forget
that they help you, it is necessary for you.
Many people argue that the cause of this situation is since the standards of behavior are not tight
or industrial lifestyle makes us changes ... But still one more reason, it is a habit. Often only
children sorry or thanks parents. And younger people sorry and thanks older people, but many
older people do not pay attention to do that. In social interaction, especially in public, the adults
older people rarely say sorry or thank. Whether they were helped or their behavior annoying to
others. The children don t hesitate to say sorry or thank, but the habit seems to be lost with the
adults. The children say thank you and apologize not only through the lessons in class, teachings of
parents, but also to learn directly through the example of the

However, the rapid growth of the Internet has introduced a completely new level of security related
problems
(1) Technology and Security issues (2) Legal issues and (3) Regulatory and Supervisory issues
The problem here is that since theOne would think that the main purpose for a bank besides
managing one s money would be giving good customer service. Excellence in customer service is
the most important tool for sustained business growth. Customer complaints are part of the
business life of any corporate entity. This is more so for banks because banks are service
organizations. As a service organization, customer service and customer satisfaction should be the
prime concern of any bank. Banks believe that by providing prompt and efficient service on to
their customers, this is essential not only to attract new customers, but also to retain existing ones
because customer dissatisfaction would spoil the bank s name and image. To provide this kind of
service more fast and efficient, the major weapon of bank is e banking.
There are several Research Design techniques that can be used to identify customer perceptions
about internet banking and also service problems such as debit card fraud and loan issues. A

Diabetes Affects The Body
Diabetes is a disease that affects the use of insulin in the body. According to the Merriam Webster
Online Dictionary diabetes mellitus is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism caused by a
combination of hereditary and environmental factors and usually characterized by inadequate
secretion or utilization of insulin, by excessive urine production, by excessive amounts of sugar in
the blood and urine, and by thirst, hunger, and loss of weight ( Diabetes Mellitus). This disease not
only impacts the amounts of sugar in the blood, it also has lasting effects on the rest of the body.
Diabetes impacts the body and its systems negatively if the body s blood sugarlevels are not treated
or maintained properly.

Type one is characterized as an autoimmune disease, because the body targets it s own beta cells
in the pancreas. The beta cells are cells that produce insulin for the entire body. The body stops
making insulin, causing people to become insulin dependent. An insulin dependent person would
use insulin injections or an insulin pump ordinarily to manage their sugar levels. Type two
diabetes is different. The body of a type two diabetic no longer responds to the body made insulin.
Beta cells destroy themselves from the overproduction of insulin because the cells themselves try
to compensate for the deficiency of insulin. Type two is either treated without medications like
exercise and diet or with insulin tablets. But, there are some occurrences in which insulin injections
would be needed ( Differences Between Type 1 and Type 2 ). Both types are dangerous if not

Recruitment And Selection Process Essay
As the business world is ever changing, so is the process that companies use in selecting ideal
candidates. The most common way for companies to start the process of filling an open position,
is to create a job posting. Job postings are most commonly posted on popular online job
websites, such as Glassdoor or Indeed. Many of the companies will also use software that will
sift through the thousands of resumes received and select a group of candidates that it feels are
ideal for the position. The company will then proceed to interview those candidates. With
software that selects resumes based on keywords that are specific to the job, it only makes sense
for candidates to tailor their resumes to maximize the opportunity to achieve that initial
interview. By creating a variety of resumes and cover letters tailored to specific position
openings, one increases his or her opportunity to receive an initial interview and getting hired.
Developed and developing economies have caused a shift in the scope of business. As the world
as a whole progress , jobs have become more demanding. In our knowledge based economy, value
is the product of knowledge and information. Companies cannot generate profits without the ideas,
skills, and talent of knowledge workers, and they have to bet on people not technologies, not
factories, and certainly not capital (Martin Moldoveanu, 2003, pg. 36). More demanding job
requirements have caused companies to only hire the best. Workers now require more

The Movement Of Virginia Woolf s Kew Gardens
The movement of Virginia Woolf s Kew Gardens is quite the mutineer towards the traditional
writing format of a beginning, middle and ending. Although, the story does eventually end, Woolf
creates a space in time within this story s reality where there really is no beginning, nor a way to
end it. We just become in the moment, infinitely moving through space and time, observing all tiny
details around us. To analyze this story, we have to think of it as an abstract painting, and assume
there will be thousands of ways to articulate it, but no matter how long we spend looking at it there
will be still so much that we don t understand. That is the gist of how inventively complex Kew

Within the first few sentences of Woolf s prose, we are immediately submerged into a world of
extreme detail, in the rich colors of the flowers and vegetation of a single oval flowerbed, sitting in
the center of the Royal Botanic Gardens of London:
From the oval shaped flower bed there rose perhaps a hundred stalks spreading into heart shaped
or tongue shaped leaves half way up and unfurling at the tip red or blue or yellow petals marked
with spots of colour raised upon the surface. (Woolf 1) The sheer detail of the imagery we are
given here becomes clearer as we draw closer and closer to the stock of a singled out flower. The
narrator appears to have found awe in the beauty of such flowers in nature based on these
descriptions. These vivid details come together to bring this scene to life by capturing the pure
aspects of the reader s senses: sight, smells, hearing, and feelings. The work of Woolf s prose in
this section of detail make the subjectivity and objectivity of the narrative s voice as it focus on
every little bright image that it finds moving or in motion. In the next scene, we move further down

Giovanni Bellini Research Paper
Of all the artists from the European Renaissance to have come from Venice, perhaps the most
important one of them all was Giovanni Bellini. Many of his works such as The Feast of the
Gods, Agony in the Garden, and Holy Allegory have become known around the world thanks to
various museums and their exhibits. Interestingly, there is the subject of his life story overall.
Regarding this, Philip Hendy wrote in one article for Encyclopedia Britannica, Giovanni Bellini,

were keenly interested in the relationship between light and color . . . Additionally, the Venetian
painters had a distinct method of brushwork. It s rather smooth, and makes for a velvety surface

between lighting and color in order to create a certain mood or emphasize a certain detail, and that
the colors faded into each other, thus creating smooth transitions with almost outlines around

juxtaposed by the green grass below him. Plus, the colors smoothly transition to each other, thus
leaving any shape outlines almost invisible. Furthermore, the natural world was a prevalent theme
in not just Venetian Renaissance art, but the Renaissance as a whole. Jessie Szalay once wrote for

Henry James The Bostonians ( 1886 ) Essay
Henry James The Bostonians (1886) is a satirical study of the feminist movement. This novel
can be read as a study of woman s quest for being a patriarch in United States of America in the
19th century. The events of The Bostonians are set in New England of U.S.A. The female
characters of this novel are involved in the feminist reform movement that swept New England
during the latter half of the nineteenth century. The novel appeared thirty five years before
female suffrage. James foresaw the catastrophic weakenss of the feminine life force by the
dominance of men over women. When Henry James started writing The Bostonians in 1883, he
uncovered his intentions for this novel: I wished to write a very American tale, a tale very
characteristic of our social condition, and I asked myself what was the most salient and peculiar
point in our social life. The answer was: the situation of woman, the decline of the sentiment of
sex, the agitation on their behalf (James, Notebooks 47). By the 1880s, some female voices had
proclaimed some questions of race, gender, and sexuality. These voices influenced James s choice
of the subject of The Bostonians. In one of his letters James writes: The characters are for the most
part persons of the radical reforming type, who are especially interested in the emancipation of
women, giving them the suffrage, releasing them from bondage, coeducating them with men, etc.
They regard this as the great question of the day the most urgent and sacred

Question 1: Structure of the APTA The structure of the American Physical Therapy Association
(APTA) consists of 3 levels, that being local, state, and national.2 This three tiered approach helps
to ensure that both members of the public and the APTA are all served. This structure also allows
for the information of the APTA to be made more accessible to members by allowing members to
attend meetings locally instead of only having the option of a nationally centered location.2 It is
important for students and practicing Physical Therapists to get involved with the APTA. Being a
member of the APTA helps to show professionalism through devotion towards the field. It also
helps to keep practicing Physical Therapists update on current legislative, ethical, licensing, and
practicing standards. Being a member is a good way for Physical Therapists to participate in
continuing education as well as with educational seminars, courses, and certifications constantly
being performed. In addition to this, by getting involved in events that the APTA is conducting,
especially local ones, it will help you as a Physical Therapist to promote the field positively and
spread awareness in the community of the benefits of Physical Therapy. Lastly, among other things,
being a member of the APTA will help one to network and meet other... Show more content on

Objectifies Women By Jeremy Merkel Summary
This week the essay that made the largest impact on me was Marketing to Tweens Objectifies
Women by Jeremy Merkel. The claim is apparent that after reading the title that young girls are
being objectified by marketing. Merkel clearly dislikes the idea of marketing sexy clothes to
young girls and teens. As a mother to three girls I have kept my girls from these types of stores.
Which is easy to do when you live 280 miles from the nearest mall with any of the stores
mentioned in the article. The rules for my girls were and are they can were light colored eye

Women as Instigators of Tragedy in the Works of Shakespeare
It is the very error of the moon;
She comes more nearer earth than she was wont,
And makes men mad. (Othello 5.2.112 14)
The moon is often seen in literature as an allegory for love, virtue, and chastity. In Shakespeare s
comedies, especially, the moon is personified as Diana, the Roman goddess of chastity. In these
comedies, the foolish antics of lovers (literally, lunatics ) usually occur under the auspices of the
chaste goddess, the lovers behaving like hounds about her feet that snap at each other in competition
for her bounty. The moon as allegory for the lunacy of romance helps us understand Shakespeare s
view of romance. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The finest example can be found in Othello. Iago convinces Othello that Othello is being cuckolded
by his wife, after which Othello questions him, referring to his wife as the moon:
Why, why is this?
Think st thou I ld make a lie of jealousy,
To follow still the changes of the moon
With fresh suspicions? No; to be once in doubt
Is once to be resolved . . . (3.3.190)
The moon/Desdemona is seen as at once chaste and inclined to change. Later, Othello accuses
Desdemona of infidelity despite her protesting innocence. Again, he compares her infidelity with
the moon: What committed!/ Heaven stops the nose at it and the moon winks . . . (4.2.74). The
moon, once chaste, is now flirting. Similarly, Othello believes that Desdemona, once chaste, is
cuckolding him. These two examples show the multiple allegories of the moon that, similarly, exist
in women.
The moon also symbolizes the changeability of Fortune. What does the Fortune have to do with the
moon? Shakespeare considered both of them to be much the same. Both have a cyclical nature
(hence the term, Wheel of Fortune ): the moon waxes and wanes just like Fortune waxes and
wanes. John Hankins noted that the traditional Latin scholarship that Shakespeare may have
studied (such as Macrobius who studied the relationship of the celestial bodies to mortals on earth)
would have lead to his understanding

Achieving a goal requires sacrifice, pain, adaptation, and stamina. Adaption is an enormous
aspect because a person might be required to move from a place to another in order to achieve a

The Use Of Gothic Elements In Dracula By Bram Stoker
Vampires: How They Were Made
Most people wonder where the idea of vampires came from and how did the first one come about.
The novel, Dracula, is set and written in the nineteenth century during the Victorian era. The
Victorian people had certain beliefs about Christianity and the roles of men and women in society.
Women were allowed only to do certain things and were expected to do specific things in regards to
men. The Victorian people also had their own interpretation of superstitions. Stoker introduced the
Victorian people to gothic elements in his literary works. In literature, gothic novels often use
gothic elements to support their themes and the mood. Since Dracula is a gothic novel Stoker used
the same gothic element ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the gothic element of degeneration and decay supports the theme of good versus evil
throughout the novel. Stoker also uses the atmosphere throughout the novel to establish the vampire
tradition. This gothic element is displayed in Jonathan s journey to Bistritz: As we wound on our
endless way, and the sun sank lower and lower behind us. This was emphasized by the fact that
the snowy mountain top still held the sunset, seemed to glow out with a delicate cool pink...goitre
was painfully prevalent (Stoker 8). Usually the atmosphere of the book is filled with degeneration
and decay, so both of these gothic elements play a role in making a gothic novel. These gothic
elements also establish the vampire tradition of the setting and superstition. This atmosphere
concept is used in other novels as well like the novel Moby Dick: ...its [the ship s] weather stained
hull, its venerable bows, its grotesqueness and somber picturesqueness (Magistrale 203). In this
quote, Tony Magistrale is comparing a ship at sea, the Pequod, to a haunted house on land.
Magistrale s purpose of comparing the ship to the house is to present the use of gothic elements to
build up the setting for a gothic novel. Stoker uses this concept of gothic elements, specifically the
atmosphere, to establish the vampire and gothic tradition of literature. The gothic atmosphere can
set a theme for the superstition of certain atmospheres.

Equality Exposed In Ayn Rand s Anthem
In the book Anthem written by Ayn Rand we are introduced to a man named Equality 7 2521
who lives in a dystopian city. He faces many difficulties within the course of the story and finds
out that thinking for what s best for yourself is better than the community. Equality catches
interest in a woman in his city named Liberty 5 3000 but sadly cannot associate with her because
men are not allowed to even notice women. Equality becomes very critical and rebellious
throughout the course of the story just by disobeying the laws of his city. Based on the number
of times Liberty was actually mentioned in the story she was loving and loyal towards Equality.
Equality is a considerably critical man in the story, here are some examples. Equality states I
owe nothing to my brothers nor do I gather debts from them. I ask none to live for me, nor do I
live for any others. I covet no man s soul, nor is my soul theirs to covet (Rand 97). Throughout
the story Equality sees many problems he faces with much thought, he finds the problem and
attempts to make it better. Later in the story Equality runs off to the Uncharted forest and has to
find ways to survive and says why the best in me had been my sins and transgressions and why I
had never felt any guilt in my sins (Rand 98). As this quote was one of the first things in the last

Truck Accident Statistics Research Paper
So what are the contributing factors to these frightening truck accident statistics?
o Driver fatigue. Truck drivers are pushing their limits to deliver their goods, driving with little
sleep and an extra load of stress. They re driving faster and pushing the envelope of safety. They
keep less and less distance between themselves and the passenger cars nearby.
o Inexperienced truck drivers who lack training.
o Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
o Driving too fast. Did you know that a mere 10 mph over the speed limit can nearly double the
distance a truck needs to brake safely from 315 feet to 400 feet. In wet weather, those figures
practically double to 720 feet for a full stop.

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger And Tonto...
Throughout The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven the theme of resilience is
deliberately presented. Native Americans past and present continue to face stifling issues such
as racism, alcoholism, isolation and suicide. Sherman Alexie makes it his obligation in his
stories and poems to show Native American resiliency through humor. By using his characters to
show resiliency through humor Alexie presents humor as an integral part of Native American
survival. In Sherman Alexie s best work to date The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in
Heaven humor allows his characters to display strength, hide weakness, to expose prejudice,
avoid realities and to create bonds (Coulombe, 94). I believe Alexie s humor engages readers
creating positive connections between individuals of diverse backgrounds and disrupts tension
between racial communities. Humor is often defined by its fluidity, its paradoxes and its ability
to surprise (Coulombe, 95). Humor teaches self knowledge and social awareness. Alexie s use of
humor encourages readers to think anew by creating a space of shared inquiry and reciprocal
empathy. Many believe his play to humor and writing betrays Indian people by presenting them
as clichГ©s to be laughed person s name says hey while other persona says he Avoiding to
educate white readers and re instill cultural pride in Indian readers he actively works against such
goals with his humor . However I believe Sherman Alexie humor is central to

The Burden Of St. Paul Essay
The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them
Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal,
monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was
raised as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as
Saul during this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus,
would militantly persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to
Christianity that he was given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of
Christianity. Saul decided that he would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus.
It was this walk on the road to Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life.
Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was
blinded, yet his mind became clear. He knew then that Jesus was calling him to spread the salvation
brought by faith through Jesus Christ. These renewed eyes of Paul were now determined to seek
out individuals that needed to hear about salvation through Jesus, specifically, his people the Jews.
The Christian Church of today consists of approximately 38,000 Christian denominations spread
out across the globe. Many of which actively send missionaries to foreign countries. Would Paul, or

It exploted. Discussion
We were unable to complete the experiment due to the complete shattering of one of the
centrifuge tubes used in this experiment. This shattering was most likely due to the repeated use
of the same tube for the extraction. Because liquid CO2 induces a cold environment, and when a
material, particularly plastic, is exposed to repeated cycles of freezing and thawing the material
will become more brittle. Plastic is usually good at containing high pressures, but if the material
were to become brittle it would lose this ability and become fracture sensitive. This most likely
lead to the complete shattering of the tube while in the lab, given that several shards were found
around the laboratory. This also could have been... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Economist said the ability to breed genetically modified mice that can be used to study the
genetic basis of diseases including caner, Parkinson s and Alzheimer s has boosted the total
number of experiments almost every year (Britain: Tweaking the Experiments; Animal Testing).
This shows that with the number of experiments increasing the society should have more
information on how to solve the quest in curing these diseases or solution on illnesses. Also
having experiments results could help resolve other illnesses or diseases when the society comes
across to a new disease or illness. Maybe scientists and researcher would not need to more
experiments on animals because they could go back to the results that they already have in hands.
Scientists and researcher should always have these in records. In the Times in London, Devlin said
Testing on animals has been involved in almost every medical treatment that is available today
antibiotics, insulin, cancer drugs, heart surgery and organ transplantation (Devlin). Most medical
treatments would not exist today if society did not exercise the use of animal testing. Animal
testing has brought society this far within the medical industry. If society did not use animals for
testing, society would not be anywhere close in the medical industry as society is as of now.

Keep Music Education in Schools Essay
Due to the declining economy, school boards around the country have decided to cut funding to
the music education programs. It is necessary to keep music education in the American school
system because it enhances the development of skills that children will use for the rest of their
lives. Musical development can start as early as before birth. Hearing is the first sense that a
baby acquires and it is acquired in utero (McCutcheon 1). The first sounds that a baby hears are
the mother s voice and her heartbeat (McCutcheon 1). These sounds are familiar to babies after
they are born, which is why recordings of heartbeats are used to calm them (McCutcheon 1). After
birth, a baby s sense of hearing becomes sharper and they absorb many... Show more content on

Younger children can experience musicby hearing it, feeling it, and by experimenting different
pitches in their vocalizations (National Association for Music Education 2). Adults can encourage
musical development in infants by singing to them, exposing them to different selections of music,
and discussing music and its relations with expression and feeling (National Association for Music
Education 2). Music can be encouraged by parents in different ways. Jim McCutcheon says, We
decided to play classical guitar music for him [unborn son] in utero through headphones placed on
her abdomen, and he came into the world very familiar with guitar sounds, and this began a lifelong
enjoyment of guitar music! It is very common to hear of mothers playing or listening to music
while pregnant and it is evident that the child heard and remembered the music (McCutcheon 2).
After birth and through childhood, children can learn musical elements through fingerplays like
eensy weensy spider and by singing songs and being bounced on a parent s knee (McCutcheon 2).
John Feierabend says, Over the last 100 years, these two methods of interacting with children have
disappeared from our music culture. During ages 6 18 months, the dendrites in the brain are the
most responsive to stimulation (McCutcheon 2). Lee Ann Kinner says, This is the time when they

The Theme Of Paranoia In Nadine Gordimer s Once Upon A Time
Beyond the elements of any story, there is always a reevaluation about life or central characters.
Theme always includes a statement upon the notation of abstract qualities through the embodiment
of the writer. As presented in Once Upon a Time, the central insight to the plot suffices to the crude
development of the character who overcompensates the emotion of paranoia, executed by the
natural dangers of the outside world. Author Nadine Gordimergeneralizes the concept of the
psychosis based on the parallelism between the fear of the character to the fear of the mother in her
dream. Notably, she illustrates the gruesome reality of human nature, that she echoes the
subconscious mind to her bedtime story.
Granted under the idea of theme, the escapades of Once Upon a Time adds on to the primary
purpose of distressed emotion. Gordimer unifies the human nature of fear to her story based on
the personal experience of herself at home. For instance, ..I was reading every faintest sound,
identifying and classifying its possible threat (Gordimer 231). With this in mind, we can correlate
to the theme of society countervailing the excessive obsession of pessimism. As a result, she
attentively entices the audience through her vision of a practical utopian civilization. Exclaiming,
There were riots, but these were outside the city where people of another color were quartered.

Tetrafluoro Phthalate Crystalss And Their Types Of Crystals
Semi organic nonlinear optical materials are receiving a great deal of attention, as they have large
optical susceptibilities, inherent ultra fast response times and high optical thresholds for laser
power compared with inorganic materials. In the present investigation, a systematic study has been
carried out on the growth of pure and doped Tetrafluoro Phthalate crystals. The lattice parameters
find through Powder X ray diffraction analysis for the grown pure and doped crystals. The
functional groups, stretching are found through FT IR analysis, optical, absorption studies through
UV Vis analysis, Thermal studies under TG/DTA analysis, through Vickers test and LCR metre the
microhardness and dielectric studies were also carried out for... Show more content on

Since, for the past three decades, one could see that there are lot of developments in science and
technology especially, in the fields of electronics, fibre optic communication and lasers [12].
The scientific community achieving this development in functional materials through the
single crystals of Si, Ge and GaAs with NLO properties [13]. To enable a material to be
potentially useful for NLO applications the material should be available in bulk Tetrafluoro
Phthalate crystals (TFP). Also research into the growth of large single crystals TFP of from
aqueous solution is currently serving as the important avenue to general progress in
understanding many fundamental concepts of crystallization [14]. The effect of seed of
different orientations on the habit of c and the change of morphology while doping with dyes
have been investigated [15]. Experimental The TFP (C6H2F4O4) in Millipore water, the
saturated solution TFP was prepared. The prepared solution was kept in the dust free atmosphere
used clean room. The prepared saturated solution of TFP was carefully filtered and poured in to
the beaker, and controls the nucleation near the surface region. The possible morphology of the
TFP crystal of commonly growth face (001). TFP crystal cleavage faces find application as
substrates in epitaxial techniques [16]. The TFP crystal was cleaving perpendicular to the (001)

Drake And Josh Analysis
Analytical Essay: Drake and Josh Pip pip da doodley doo (Drake Parker). In Nickelodeon s
Drake and Josh, two teenagers with opposite personalities must learn to live under the same roof.
Drake is a cool, good looking, slightly daft, guitar playing, ladies man who plays by his own
rules while Josh is the dorky, clumsy, responsible one. The two must learn how to get along when
Drake s mom falls in love with and marries Josh s dad in the first episode. The rest of the series
consists of the duo s wacky misadventures. Meanwhile, Drake s mischievous little sister, Maegan,
plays pranks on the two in a constant attempt to make their lives miserable. The genre of the show
is situational comedy (sitcom) and its target audiences are preteens and younger... Show more

Drake makes a mistake and in attempting to atone for it only ends up making the situation worse,
which then leaves Josh to pick up the pieces and everything occurs in a comical way. Overall
themes in the show include roommate drama, kids hijinks, tween sensation, Sitcoms, and
surviving high school (TV.Com). The theme of Josh Runs Into Oprah mainly focuses on
roommate drama in that it focuses on the relationship between the two brothers. The comedic
style of Drake and Josh mainly takes form in tropes. If there s a sitcom trope, Drake and Josh have
probably covered it (TV Tropes). This appeals to teens because the metaphors often relate to other
shows, people, or events that teens of that day would be infatuated

Rebecca Evaluation
Rebecca, published in 1938, was Daphne du Maurier s most successful novel. In 1940, film
director Alfred Hitchcock won the Best Picture Oscar with his first Hollywood film, Rebecca,
based on the book Rebecca and starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. The narrator of the
story, a naГЇve young woman, marries Maxim de Winter, an aristocrat several years older than
herself. They return to his large country home, Manderley, in Cornwall, to a life that his new
wife knows little about. Inexperienced, self conscious and lacking in confidence, the new Mrs de
Winter finds her life dominated by the shadow of Maxim s first wife, Rebecca, who died at
Manderley a year earlier. The narrator becomes obsessed with the presence of Rebecca. She finds

Mrs Danvers is unusually kind to her and suggests that she wear a costume replica of one of the
former inhabitants of Manderley. The same costume, in fact, had been worn by Rebecca at the
previous fancy dress party. Maxim gets very angry. Chapter 7 The Sunken Boat Overwhelmed
and intimidated, Mrs de Winter begins to doubt her relationship with her husband; she thinks
that Maxim is still in love with the perfect Rebecca. Things, however, change dramatically when
the sunken boat is discovered. Rebecca s body is found in the boat at the bottom of the sea, and
this leads Maxim to confess the truth to his new wife. He and Rebecca hated each other.
Rebecca had series of love affairs, and then she claimed to be pregnant by another man and
threatened to burden Maxim with the responsibility of raising the child. Maxim killed her and
took the body out in the boat, which he sank at sea. Instead of being scared of the murderer, Mrs
de Winter is relieved to hear that Maxim didn t and doesn t love Rebecca. Chapter 8 The Inquiry
There is an inquest, and the boat builder makes a statement about three holes hammered through the
bottom of the boat. When Maxim is asked if he

A Time To Die Analysis
The following will serve as part review, part confessional. I started this book two years ago this
month. I began reading A Time to Die after reading a recommendation from a friend of mine. I
began reading it, hoping for a book that would immediately hold me captive and not release me
from its powers until I had finished the journey.
Well...
The book held me captive, but not in the way I was expecting. I saw much of Parvin in myself.
Reading this book, written in first person present tense, was like experiencing a dream. Parvin was
convinced her life had no meaning, that she had wasted her life. She wanted her life to mean
something but when she was presented with opportunities to create meaning, she pushed back and
tried to find an easier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was difficult to read for this feeler. I will confess, I put it down for an emotional breather...And
left it for two years.
I have been following the author on Facebook and her blog during these past two years and she
impressed me with her intentionality in the way she interacts with her readers and followers. Her
posts are a shining light in the cynical, angry world of Facebook. One of the central themes in A
Time to Die is the idea of bringing God s Shalom or a peace that comes from living the way God
intended. This is not simply something she wrote about for her story, she is very active about
living it out in her blogging and Facebook posts.
I have been blessed by this girl s shining light, and it was because of this that I finally decided to
finish the book. There were some challenging moments, as I felt my own character developing
right alongside Parvin s. This book contains some perplexing characters with very flawed thinking
and I understood her frustration as she struggled to reason with them. There were also beautiful
moments, as the events and interactions which pushed Parvin s (and my own) comfort and world
view made way to show God s incredible love for His

Analysis Of Wit By Alex Rogo
In chapters ten through twelve, Alex Rogo is trying to explain to his employees, the meaning of
throughput, inventory and operational expense. Throughput is money coming in. Inventory is the
money currently inside the system and operational expense is the money we have to pay out to
make throughput happen. Discussion takes place regarding how anything that is considered an
investment and can be sold is part of inventory, including the buildings, machines, etc.
Alex then had discussion with Jonah regarding managing capacity. According to Jonah, a managed
plant is one where the capacity of each and every resource is balanced exactly with demand from
the market. He explains that a plant where everyone is working all the time is not efficient.

Women During WWII
Many women took over the mens jobs once the war started, and the war gave women good
motivation to fight for their suffrage. President Wilson believed that the women were a vital part
of the war effort. For the womens effort to help the war in 1920 the 19th amendment was ratified.
The developments for women during the war, foreshadowed the future acomplishments women
would gain. Toward the end of the war many women left their jobs to go back to work in the
house. Congress supported them in doing this when they passed the Sheppard Towner Maternity
Act of 1921. THis provided federally financed instruction in maternal and infant health care. This
influenced women into going back to the home like before the war, because that is what they were...

Analysis Of Fight Club And The Girl With The Dragon
How David Fincher uses colour in the film Fight Club and how this is used to influence the viewer.
Colour in film is very important, it can change the mood of the film, influence viewers emotions
as they watch, can be used as symbolism and can even teach the viewer in a very short time to
expect something to happen when a certain colour is shown. The Director of Fight club and other
films such as Se7en and the Girl with the Dragon tattoo, David Fincher is very well known for
working closely with the cinematographer and his post production team to tightly control the colour
in his films and being quite innovative in his techniques to achieve better quality of colour and
control over his films.
David Fincher, the director of Fight Club is well known for the certain look of his films as he
has developed his own signature style, sometimes called reality enhanced as his style is natural
lighting but in a new almost HD way. He uses techniques such as LED lighting, the films are dark
and dank but colourful at the same time. As a usual template it seems he de saturates the picture
then depending on the mood of the scene he warms up or cools off the image often times he uses
blue in the shadows to add depth and to retain the crisp blackness and teal to the highlights this
shows a strong understanding of how colours work together.
In Fight Club, David Fincher uses his usual hues of blacks, greys and browns but also adds in
yellows, blues and greens. Yellowis usually a happy

  • 2. Hyperpluralism In California A theory explains and can predict something. There are several theories that try to explain who governs California and why. Of the several theories included in California politics, there is the democratic theory, elite theory, pluralist theory, and hyperpluralism. Of these four theories, most tend to be influenced by one theory as each as their own beliefs to better explain how politics works. Hyperpluralism seems to do a better job at explaining the politics of Californiawhen compared to the others. The democratic theory believes that everyone governs and has the most influence on politics in California. According to the democratic theory, voters have their own power to decide what laws to approve or disapprove by the state legislature. They also have the power to choose their own legislation, as well as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those two classes are the ones who rule and the second is the rest who do not rule. According to the text, Government is always government by the few, whether in the name of the few, the one, or the many (13). Those who make up the elites are generally the wealthier population. The Big Four is an example of elites who used their political power to control those who do not have their own power. The Big Four helped contribute to California s land development and growth. In contrast, hyperpluralism is a theory that explains politics in a more relatable way. No one governs instead power is thinly scattered . Lawrence states how the exercise of political power has become a highly competitive tug of war between institutions, policymakers, political parties, numerous interest groups, and voters (14). There are ample amounts of evidence in California politics. There are several components that contribute to this evidence such as individualism in political life, growing diversity of group interests, and a change in the nature of majoritarian ... • 3. Benefits Of Single Species Recovery Programmes World conservation is at a crossroads of judgement making and New Zealand provides an extreme example of issues and possible solutions. On the positive side, more than 30% of total land area in New Zealand has been set aside for as National Parks (DOC, n.d.) and various reserved land and is run by the Department of Conservation. Single species recovery programmes have been successful with the use of eradication of offshore islands pests to for reintroduction of threatened onshore species such as the Kakapo on Cod fish island. However, this is in marked contrast to biodiversity decline with up to 50% of native birds threatened due to introduced pests such as mustelids and possums. With legislation (Conservation Act 1987), public opinion and changes in current practices, conservation and development might be able to coexist to a point where each can be sustainable (Craig, 2000). Brief history of land conservation in New Zealand till 1969 New Zealand is a special place as it was the last major land form to be settled as it is separated by large oceans so was largely unknown. Before the first settlers arrived, the country had been isolated for some 85 million years with the result of different plant life, large and flightless birds as well as no ground living mammals ( Conservation a history , n.d.). With the early Maori and European settlers bringing in mammals for sport and food, this had a devastating effect on the endemic wildlife population with up to 40% of species ... • 6. Applying the Concept of Bipower to China s One Child Policy Michel Foucault was a French philosopher and one of the most influential social theorists of the second half of the twentieth century. He was born on the 15th of October 1936 and passed away on the 25th June 1984. His theories addressed the relationship between power and knowledge, and how they are used as a form of social control. His analysis breaks the concept of power apart, and his theory explains differences in various modes of power. In his study the History of Sexuality, he explores in the firth volume called Right of Death and Power over Life the triangle of power: (I) sovereign power; (II) disciplinary power; and (III) biopower. In this essay I will describe the relationship between each power and apply the concept of biopower to China s one child Policy. First what is Biopower? Well according to Foucault, biopower is a technology of power, which is a way of managing and controlling entire populations. Biopower led to the emergence of the modern nation state and capitalism. Foucault describes it as an explosion of numerous and diverse techniques for achieving the subjugations of bodies and the control of populations (Foucault 140). The primary and most important goal of biopower is life. The government goal is to secure and improve people s lives. Power is exercised exclusively over life, and is exercised either to foster life or to disallow it. Biopower according to Foucault is a power that exerts a positive influence on life, that endeavours to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the hard fighting, the man struck Jacob s hip, which was put out of joint. (32:26) From this scene, we wonder, why didn t Jacob allow the man to go? Clearly, we are able to know the answer from Jacob s saying. I will not let you go, unless you bless me. (32:28) Now, we can answer to the question I raised at the beginning of this sermon. At that time, God was willing to fight with Jacob to give an opportunity to fight in a right way, to give a blessing through the new name, Israel. Through the fight, God made Jacob reconcile with himself. Through the name, God gave Jacob new personality. You have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed. The most common way for companies to start the process of filling an open position, is to create a job posting. Job postings are most commonly posted on popular online job websites, such as Glassdoor or Indeed. Many of the companies will also use software that will sift through the thousands of resumes received and select a group of candidates that it feels are ideal for the position. The company will then proceed to interview those candidates. With software that selects resumes based on keywords that are specific to the job, it only makes sense for candidates to tailor their resumes to maximize the opportunity to achieve that initial interview. By creating a variety of resumes and cover letters tailored to specific position openings, one increases his or her opportunity to receive an initial interview and getting hired. Although, the story does eventually end, Woolf creates a space in time within this story s reality where there really is no beginning, nor a way to end it. We just become in the moment, infinitely moving through space and time, observing all tiny details around us. To analyze this story, we have to think of it as an abstract painting, and assume there will be thousands of ways to articulate it, but no matter how long we spend looking at it there will be still so much that we don t understand. In other words, Venetian Renaissance art tends to have contrasting relationships between lighting and color in order to create a certain mood or emphasize a certain detail, and that the colors faded into each other, thus creating smooth transitions with almost outlines around shapes. In Giovanni Bellini s Crucifixion, the sunlight is particularly shined on Jesus, which is juxtaposed by the green grass below him. • 20. Henry James The Bostonians ( 1886 ) Essay Henry James The Bostonians (1886) is a satirical study of the feminist movement. This novel can be read as a study of woman s quest for being a patriarch in United States of America in the 19th century. The events of The Bostonians are set in New England of U.S.A. The female characters of this novel are involved in the feminist reform movement that swept New England during the latter half of the nineteenth century. The novel appeared thirty five years before female suffrage. James foresaw the catastrophic weakenss of the feminine life force by the dominance of men over women. When Henry James started writing The Bostonians in 1883, he uncovered his intentions for this novel: I wished to write a very American tale, a tale very characteristic of our social condition, and I asked myself what was the most salient and peculiar point in our social life. The answer was: the situation of woman, the decline of the sentiment of sex, the agitation on their behalf (James, Notebooks 47). By the 1880s, some female voices had proclaimed some questions of race, gender, and sexuality. These voices influenced James s choice of the subject of The Bostonians. In one of his letters James writes: The characters are for the most part persons of the radical reforming type, who are especially interested in the emancipation of women, giving them the suffrage, releasing them from bondage, coeducating them with men, etc. They regard this as the great question of the day the most urgent and sacred ... American Physical Therapy Association Case Study Question 1: Structure of the APTA The structure of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) consists of 3 levels, that being local, state, and national.2 This three tiered approach helps to ensure that both members of the public and the APTA are all served. This structure also allows for the information of the APTA to be made more accessible to members by allowing members to attend meetings locally instead of only having the option of a nationally centered location.2 It is important for students and practicing Physical Therapists to get involved with the APTA. Being a member of the APTA helps to show professionalism through devotion towards the field. It also helps to keep practicing Physical Therapists update on current legislative, ethical, licensing, and practicing standards. Being a member is a good way for Physical Therapists to participate in continuing education as well as with educational seminars, courses, and certifications constantly being performed. In addition to this, by getting involved in events that the APTA is conducting, especially local ones, it will help you as a Physical Therapist to promote the field positively and spread awareness in the community of the benefits of Physical Therapy. Women as Instigators of Tragedy in the Works of Shakespeare It is the very error of the moon; She comes more nearer earth than she was wont, And makes men mad. (Othello 5.2.112 14) The moon is often seen in literature as an allegory for love, virtue, and chastity. In Shakespeare s comedies, especially, the moon is personified as Diana, the Roman goddess of chastity. In these comedies, the foolish antics of lovers (literally, lunatics ) usually occur under the auspices of the chaste goddess, the lovers behaving like hounds about her feet that snap at each other in competition for her bounty. Think st thou I ld make a lie of jealousy, To follow still the changes of the moon With fresh suspicions? No; to be once in doubt Is once to be resolved . . . (3.3.190) The moon/Desdemona is seen as at once chaste and inclined to change. Later, Othello accuses Desdemona of infidelity despite her protesting innocence. Again, he compares her infidelity with the moon: What committed!/ Heaven stops the nose at it and the moon winks . . . (4.2.74). The moon, once chaste, is now flirting. Similarly, Othello believes that Desdemona, once chaste, is cuckolding him. These two examples show the multiple allegories of the moon that, similarly, exist in women. The moon also symbolizes the changeability of Fortune. What does the Fortune have to do with the moon? Shakespeare considered both of them to be much the same. Both have a cyclical nature (hence the term, Wheel of Fortune ): the moon waxes and wanes just like Fortune waxes and wanes. John Hankins noted that the traditional Latin scholarship that Shakespeare may have studied (such as Macrobius who studied the relationship of the celestial bodies to mortals on earth) would have lead to his understanding

  • 28. The Use Of Gothic Elements In Dracula By Bram Stoker Vampires: How They Were Made Most people wonder where the idea of vampires came from and how did the first one come about. The novel, Dracula, is set and written in the nineteenth century during the Victorian era. The Victorian people had certain beliefs about Christianity and the roles of men and women in society. Women were allowed only to do certain things and were expected to do specific things in regards to men. The Victorian people also had their own interpretation of superstitions. This was emphasized by the fact that the snowy mountain top still held the sunset, seemed to glow out with a delicate cool pink...goitre was painfully prevalent (Stoker 8). Usually the atmosphere of the book is filled with degeneration and decay, so both of these gothic elements play a role in making a gothic novel. These gothic elements also establish the vampire tradition of the setting and superstition. This atmosphere concept is used in other novels as well like the novel Moby Dick: ...its [the ship s] weather stained hull, its venerable bows, its grotesqueness and somber picturesqueness (Magistrale 203). In this quote, Tony Magistrale is comparing a ship at sea, the Pequod, to a haunted house on land. The Burden Of St. Paul Essay The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal, monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was raised as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would militantly persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to Christianity that he was given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind became clear. • 42. The Theme Of Paranoia In Nadine Gordimer s Once Upon A Time Beyond the elements of any story, there is always a reevaluation about life or central characters. Theme always includes a statement upon the notation of abstract qualities through the embodiment of the writer. As presented in Once Upon a Time, the central insight to the plot suffices to the crude development of the character who overcompensates the emotion of paranoia, executed by the natural dangers of the outside world. Author Nadine Gordimergeneralizes the concept of the psychosis based on the parallelism between the fear of the character to the fear of the mother in her dream. Notably, she illustrates the gruesome reality of human nature, that she echoes the subconscious mind to her bedtime story. Granted under the idea of theme, the escapades of Once Upon a Time adds on to the primary purpose of distressed emotion. Gordimer unifies the human nature of fear to her story based on the personal experience of herself at home. For instance, ..I was reading every faintest sound, identifying and classifying its possible threat (Gordimer 231). With this in mind, we can correlate to the theme of society countervailing the excessive obsession of pessimism. • 43. Tetrafluoro Phthalate Crystalss And Their Types Of Crystals Semi organic nonlinear optical materials are receiving a great deal of attention, as they have large optical susceptibilities, inherent ultra fast response times and high optical thresholds for laser power compared with inorganic materials. In the present investigation, a systematic study has been carried out on the growth of pure and doped Tetrafluoro Phthalate crystals. The lattice parameters find through Powder X ray diffraction analysis for the grown pure and doped crystals. The functional groups, stretching are found through FT IR analysis, optical, absorption studies through UV Vis analysis, Thermal studies under TG/DTA analysis, through Vickers test and LCR metre the microhardness and dielectric studies were also carried out for... Since, for the past three decades, one could see that there are lot of developments in science and technology especially, in the fields of electronics, fibre optic communication and lasers [12]. The scientific community achieving this development in functional materials through the single crystals of Si, Ge and GaAs with NLO properties [13]. To enable a material to be potentially useful for NLO applications the material should be available in bulk Tetrafluoro Phthalate crystals (TFP). Also research into the growth of large single crystals TFP of from aqueous solution is currently serving as the important avenue to general progress in understanding many fundamental concepts of crystallization [14]. The effect of seed of different orientations on the habit of c and the change of morphology while doping with dyes have been investigated [15]. Experimental The TFP (C6H2F4O4) in Millipore water, the saturated solution TFP was prepared. The prepared solution was kept in the dust free atmosphere used clean room. The prepared saturated solution of TFP was carefully filtered and poured in to the beaker, and controls the nucleation near the surface region. • 46. A Time To Die Analysis The following will serve as part review, part confessional. I started this book two years ago this month. I began reading A Time to Die after reading a recommendation from a friend of mine. I began reading it, hoping for a book that would immediately hold me captive and not release me from its powers until I had finished the journey. Well... The book held me captive, but not in the way I was expecting. I saw much of Parvin in myself. Reading this book, written in first person present tense, was like experiencing a dream. Parvin was convinced her life had no meaning, that she had wasted her life. She wanted her life to mean something but when she was presented with opportunities to create meaning, she pushed back and tried to find an easier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was difficult to read for this feeler. I will confess, I put it down for an emotional breather...And left it for two years. I have been following the author on Facebook and her blog during these past two years and she impressed me with her intentionality in the way she interacts with her readers and followers. Her posts are a shining light in the cynical, angry world of Facebook. One of the central themes in A Time to Die is the idea of bringing God s Shalom or a peace that comes from living the way God intended. This is not simply something she wrote about for her story, she is very active about living it out in her blogging and Facebook posts. I have been blessed by this girl s shining light, and it was because of this that I finally decided to finish the book. There were some challenging moments, as I felt my own character developing right alongside Parvin s. This book contains some perplexing characters with very flawed thinking and I understood her frustration as she struggled to reason with them. There were also beautiful moments, as the events and interactions which pushed Parvin s (and my own) comfort and world view made way to show God s incredible love for His ... • 49. Analysis Of Fight Club And The Girl With The Dragon How David Fincher uses colour in the film Fight Club and how this is used to influence the viewer. Colour in film is very important, it can change the mood of the film, influence viewers emotions as they watch, can be used as symbolism and can even teach the viewer in a very short time to expect something to happen when a certain colour is shown. The Director of Fight club and other films such as Se7en and the Girl with the Dragon tattoo, David Fincher is very well known for working closely with the cinematographer and his post production team to tightly control the colour in his films and being quite innovative in his techniques to achieve better quality of colour and control over his films. David Fincher, the director of Fight Club is well known for the certain look of his films as he has developed his own signature style, sometimes called reality enhanced as his style is natural lighting but in a new almost HD way. He uses techniques such as LED lighting, the films are dark and dank but colourful at the same time. As a usual template it seems he de saturates the picture then depending on the mood of the scene he warms up or cools off the image often times he uses blue in the shadows to add depth and to retain the crisp blackness and teal to the highlights this shows a strong understanding of how colours work together. In Fight Club, David Fincher uses his usual hues of blacks, greys and browns but also adds in yellows, blues and greens. Yellowis usually a happy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
