shown in an exhibition made entirely by one extraordinary 69 year old Buddhist monk in Nepal
named Shashi Dhoj Tulachan, a second generation thangka artist living. The practice of thangka art
has been around for centuries and is carried out by highly trained monks for the purpose of teaching

The purpose of the experiment is to cycle solid copper through a series of five reactions. At
different stages of the cycle, copper was present in different forms. First reaction involves reaction
between the copper and nitric acid, and copper changed from elemental state to an aqueous. The
second reaction converted the aqueous Cu2+ into the solid copper (2) hydroxide. In the third
reaction Cu(OH)2 decomposed into copper 2 oxide and water when heated. When solid CuO

I Chose Roses And Birds Number 5 By Kiki Smith Essay
I chose Roses and Birds Number 5 by Kiki Smith as my western piece and for my non western
piece I chose a Spanish Colonial piece called Ornaments. I was originally drawn to Roses and
Birds Number 5 because of the thin lines, the flowers, and how its fragility added an aura of
femininity. Upon closer inspection of the art, I appreciated the artist s use of Nepalese paper as
her canvas. Unlike Kiki Smith s piece, I wasn t immediately drawn to Ornaments. The metal,
while shiny, looked cold and hard. The piece is a floral arrangement, but looking at it I couldn t
envision the soft petals of flowers. Once I put aside my personal feelings and started observing
the piece from the stand point of my Art Appreciation class, I can see the effort and elements the

In our study, the independent variable is whether a state elects or appoints judges. The dependent
variable is the incarceration rate (per 100,000 people) for each state. To control for these
variables, we also measured the violent crime rate (per 100,000 people) for each state. The violent
crime rate allows us to see whether or not crimerate or judges are having a measurable effect on the
incarcerationrate. Without controlling for the crime rate, we would not be able to tell if higher
incarceration rates were truly a result of elected judges, as crime rate would also be playing a

mathematical equation or changes were made before entering it into the SPSS program, our
statistical test.
For our data, we chose to control for the violent crime in each state. We did this by using the
violent crime rate, which was measured similarly to the incarceration rate. We measured it by
every 100,000 people for each of the 50 states. In order to code this, we used a range of 0
100,000. The variable can be anywhere within the range and only represents the number of
individuals who have committed violent crime per 100,000 people per state. No type of

linear regression as the statistical test to prove our hypothesis. We chose to run a linear regression
because the dependent variable, the incarceration rate, had more than two values that could be

The Eye of the Needle was always an iconic place along the Missouri until May 1997 when it
collapsed under suspicious circumstances. On the expedition of Lewis and Clark, the White
Cliffs of Montana was a signature site described by Lewis. One of the extraordinary landmarks
was the Eye of the Needle, which Meriwether Lewis first described its scenery by comparing its
magnificent rock formations to elegant ranges of lofting freestone buildings, having their parapets
well stocked with statuary (Burns, 1997). This was 1800 s talk, which doesn t make sense to most
people nowadays. Looking at an old picture of the Eye of the Needle that my grandfather took
while rafting the Missouri, I can see the beauty that people raved about.
The rock structure is so perplexing. The arch made up of multiple boulders doesn t look like
anything that nature could ever make naturally. It defies gravity standing on the very top of the
rock wall lining the rushing Missouri. The light grey structure has thousands of crevices that
formed themselves from natural wear and tear over time. 200 feet up, it towers over the Missouri
River keeping a watchful eye on all of the wildlife.
