Comparing Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est and Crane s Do Not Weep, Maiden, For War Is Kind
Both Stephen Crane s Do Not Weep, Maiden, For War Is Kind and Wilfred Owen s Dulce et
Decorum Est use vivid images, diction rich with connotation, similes, and metaphors to portray the
irony between the idealized glory of war and the lurid reality of war. However, by looking at the
different ways these elements are used in each poem, it is clear that the speakers in the two poems
are soldiers who come from opposite ends of the spectrum of military ranks. One speaker is an
officer and the other is a foot soldier. Each of the speakers/soldiers is dealing with the repercussions
from his own realities of the horror of war based on his duty ... Show more content on

The most vivid and shocking image used is when the speaker internally addresses the child and
tells him that his father tumbled in the yellow trenches, / Raged at his breast, gulped and died (13
14). This is not something one would tell a child, especially when consoling him. The use of the
word trenches, which could be metaphors for graves, contributes to the implicit theme of a funeral
setting. This contradiction between verbally comforting family members and internally giving
them detailed descriptions of their loved one s death, shows the speaker s struggle with the idea
that families and others typically hear the glossed over story of the nobility of soldiers and the
glory of war. This speaker is battling with his military duty of consoling the family members and
with his conscience wanting to open their eyes to the fact that these men die gruesome and painful
deaths.
The second and fourth stanzas particularly support the theory that the officer is at the funeral of a
lower ranking soldier whom he led into battle. In the second and fourth stanzas, the officer is
reviewing his own thoughts during the time of the battle; this is an indication that he is struggling
with the decisions he has made. At the beginning of the second stanza, he uses an image of the

Social Policy Within The Global Economy
When discussing social policy within the current global economy, it s quite impossible to ignore the
effects of globalisation on nation states but also in the overall global economy in relation to
poverty, environmental changes, trade, culture etc. Globalisation is a highly contested term due to
its broad definition which causes confusion as to what it actually means (Gills, 2002; Higgot,
1999). Yeates (2002) refers to globalisation as the loosening of boundaries of things such as trade,
labour and migration and further goes on to speak of strong globalisation to indicate the intensity
and inevitable nature especially in relation to the constraints globalisation poses on national
governments and the policymaking process. Events such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There will also be a heavy focus on transnational corporations as they are seen as one of the most
important actors in shaping social policy. It is important to remember that globalisation in not only
about economic effects but it can also be discussed in relation to political globalisation and how
political decisions have shifted due to upwards to the European Union and beyond also cultural
globalisation that has seen the Mcdonalization of traditional culture into the international culture of
consumerism (Ritzer,1993).
Ginsburg (2001) looked as social policy within Ireland and the UK and argues that changes that
have occurred within the nation state have been due to neo liberal hegemony. During the 1980 s
under the Margaret Thatcher administration there was an adaptation of neo liberalism as restraints
were put on social expenditure, taxation of individuals and corporations and there was an increase
in the flexibility of labour markets as the markets are seen as wealth creating mechanisms
(Ginsburg, 2001; Cerny and Evans, 2004). The intensification of neo liberal globalisation has left
governments trying to find a balance between competing with demands of economic globalisation
whilst also considering the possible economic and

How To Write An Essay About Hershey Park
When people think hershey they most likely think of chocolate. But it is also a city and a
beautiful amusement park. Hersheypark is one of the most famous amusement parks in
america. Chartsbin.com ranks it as 39th biggest amusement park clocking in at 121 acres. It has
become a classic park that is a family favorite for every local and visitor. Hersheypark is an
amazing theme park and this essay is about to cover everything from the Milton S. Hershey saga
to the post Milton S Hershey saga. Hershey park was founded in 1906 by Milton S. Hershey. It
was originally not an amusement park, but was just a pavilion. He used this pavilion to represent
hershey, pa. With beautiful flower gardens and fountains. It wasn t until 1923 that they finally

resulting in 10 new rides. And from then on till 1996, they added more and more to make this
one of the largest parks in the world at the time. In the year 200 they closed on buying the
biggest roller coaster in america, known as The Lightning racer In 2007 they added their
waterpark, as they celebrated their 100th anniversary. They are now working on development for
their candy themed tower drop rides known as the hershey s triple tower . Overall, Hersheypark is
one of the largest, well rated and most historical theme parks of all time. It has roller coasters,
water rides, themed restaurants, resorts, hotels, and represents pennsylvania as a beautiful and fun

Comparing Plato, Descartes, And The Matrix
Plato, Descartes, and the Matrix
Latalvin Bullock
Liberty University
Is what I am seeing real or is it a figment of my imagination? Many people have found themselves
asking this question at some point in their life. This has been a subject that has been addressed by
many philosophers. In this paper the approach to this topic is centered on Plato s The Allegory of
the Cave and Descartes s Meditation I of The Things Which We May Doubt as compared to the
movie The Matrix. One of the most obvious similarities of the three passages is that they all call in
to question what reality is. In The Matrix reality is conceived through a computer. The computer
simulates the peoples perception of reality. They are not truly aware of their own reality because...

But through their connection and manipulation of the computer they believe that what they are
living and seeing is real. When Neo agrees to take the red pill and follow Morpheus into the
world of the Matrix it disturbs him to see that people are living out a virtual reality that is not
true reality. This calls into question his own reality and was the life he was living real or
imagined. Plato s Allegory of the Cave also shows a distorted sense of reality. The prisoners
believe that what they see through the shadows is reality. Being tied by the fetters there is no
way for them to see any other reality around them. Based solely on what they see through the
shadows are real to them. The shadows are an artificial source of reality for the prisoners as the
computer is an artificial source for those living in the Matrix even though both the prisoners and
those hooked to the computer feel that it is entirely real. In Descartes s Meditation I of the

Abstract
The generation effect refers to the experimental findings that when the subject is asked to generate
all/part of the stimulus the item is always remembered better than the stimulus that the subject only
read (Slamecka Graf). That is the information that the subject generates/creates by oneself is
remembered better compared to the information they only read. Results show that in all the cases,
the performance in generation condition was superior to that in read condition. Using a repeated
measures design, subjects were exposed to 2 levels (conditions, namely, read condition and generate
condition). After each condition, they were engaged in a simple recall task, remembering as many
words as they could. This phenomenon is applied even across variations in encoding rules, timed or
self placed presentation and along with between and within subjects design. A number of potential
explanatory principles are considered and their difficulties are enumerated in the following report.
To conclude, generation effectis a robust finding.
Keywords: Generate Condition. Recall, Memory, Paired associate.
Introduction
The given report is an empirically based report. Generation effect is a phenomenon where
information is better remembered if it is generated from one s own mind than it is simply read.

pGlo Transformation Lab Report
I Introduction
The purpose of this experiment was to show the genetic transformation of E. coli bacteria with a
plasmid that codes for Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) and contains a gene regulatory system that
confers ampicillin resistance. A plasmidis a genetic structure in a cell that can replicate
independently of chromosomes. In this lab, the Green Fluorescent Protein, which is typically found
in the bioluminescent jellyfish Aequorea Victoria, was cloned, purified, and moved from one
organism to another with the use of pGlo plasmids. It was hypothesized that if bacteria that were
transformed with +pGlo plasmids are given the gene for GFP, then transformed cell colonies...

Next, the transformation efficiency was calculated by dividing the total amount of DNA on the agar
plate in Ојl by the number of cells growing on the +pGLO LB/amp/ara plate.
During the purification section of this lab, the LB/amp/ara agar plate was examined for well
isolated green colonies and the LB/amp plate was observed for white colonies with space between
each other. These colonies were circled on the outside of the plates using a marker. Next, two 15
milliliter culture tubes containing 2 milliliters of nutrient growth media were obtained and labeled
+ and . Using a new inoculation tube, the circled colonies from each plate were scooped out and
immersed in their respective culture tubes. Once the bacteria was mixed into the solution, the tubes
were sealed and placed horizontally into the 32вЃ° incubator for 24 hours.
After labeling a new microtube with a marker, the culture tubes were removed from the incubator
and observed under the ultraviolet lamp. Using a sterile pipette, the contents of the (+) culture tube
were transferred to the 2 milliliter mictrotube and the ( ) culture tube was disposed of. The (+) tube
was then spun in the centrifuge at maximum speed for 5 minutes. Once it was removed from the
centrifuge, a noticeable bacterial pellet had formed at the bottom of the tube and the remaining
liquid was disposed of. After the

Kenyan Independence Movement
Kenyan Independence Movement The East Africa Protectorate was first colonized by British
settlers in 1895 and with the creation of the treaty of Versailles in 1920 it officially came under
British control as the colony of Kenya. The people of Kenya were never content with having the
white settlers take their land from them and continuously expressed their thoughts. However, Kenya
wouldn t become an independent nation until December 12, 1963. Kenya s road to independence
was filled with oppression and disappointment. There were many separate attempts to lead Kenya
to freedom, but all of them failed to reach their goals. The Mau Mau Rebellion was the final straw

World War II to try to get his people a political voice in the government. Originally, the KAU was
only made up of the Kikuyu elite , but ultimately it widens its sphere of influence to encompass
many of the different ethnicities within Kenya. What had started as a small group of intellectuals
would grow to include over 150,000 angry Kenyans by 1951. Kenyatta believed strongly that
violence would only hurt their cause. If they approached things in a political and peaceful manner,
it would show the British that these people were civilized and ready to govern themselves. The
KAU continually tried to gain more political power in the government, but the colonial government
did everything it could to prevent the KAU from succeeding. When the KAU tried appealing to the
British government, they got nothing but promises. The Kenyans started growing restless, waiting
for promises that will never be fulfilled. To many people, violence seemed like the only way to
solve their problems. When peaceful independent movements failed to succeed, people gave up
hope that their problems could be solved peacefully. The building frustration was about to burst.

Asian American Experience Through Art
The Asian American Experience Explained Through Art Introduction The United States is the
land of the free, and the home of the brave according to the song, but there is a dichotomy that
exists between those who have called the United States their home for a long period of time, and
those who are immigrating to the US. Asian Americans are a group that very few think of as
having difficulties because the stereotype is of a group that is intelligent and is actually doing
better than the average American. While this may seem to be true, better grades in a school setting
does not mean that people who come from other countries are not experiencing racism (both overt
and subtle), stereotyping and alienation in this country. Although there has been some difficulty,
many groups are experiencing newfound hope because of the actions that they are taking. The
plight, and the hope of the Asian cultures are being documented by artists of different stripes who
are eager to depict what has happened to Asians as they try to build their own America, and
assimilate into the one that was built before they came. In this paper, the Asian American cultures
will be examined through the art that has been produced over the many years that Asian people
have striven to make their way as new Americans. Searching for an Identity Leaving one s own
country and moving to another is one of the most difficult journeys anyone can make. In one s

The relationship of Muhammad and Allah was based on complete faith and absolute sincerity, true
love, obedience and surrender to Him. To summaries the relationship you could use the word Islam .
1.2 Do Muslims worship Mohammad?
No, Muslims do not worship Mohammad. They worship Allah and they say that He lives and will
never die.
1.3 How do Muslims view Jesus?
Muslims respect and revere Jesus. They view Jesus as unique for being the only prophet in Islam
who neither married nor had children. Christ is seen to be a Prophet and Envoy of God of
outstanding greatness, but only a man and nothing more. They do not see Him as Son of God but

Christians believe in the concept of original sin. Humans are born sinners as they bear the
burden of Adam and Eve. While Muslims do not believe in the original sin because in the Qur an
God forgave Adam for what he had done and no one should be made to bear the burden of
someone else s sin or mistake because it is unfair.
3. ONE OF THE FIVE PILLARS IS PRAYER
3.1 Write a short paragraph on the rituals and frequency of this prayer.
Salah Muslims are expected to pray five times per day. This will occur at midday, late afternoon,
after sunset and at night. During these breaks a call is made from the minaret calling the people
to pray. Before one prays, a purification ritual will take place. This ritual is that a person must
wash themselves in clean running water, in the order of hands, mouth, nose, face, arms and then
wet hands are run over the head and neck, then the ears and finally the feet. During the prayer it
also involves specific postures which are standing, stooping, kneeling and also sitting. Whilst
kneeling, the forehead and chin must be touching the ground. This is all known as rakah specific
words and postures. The prayers may be said anywhere that is sanitary. They will be opened, shoes
must be removed and the individual will always face Mecca. On Fridays at midday,

Despite the fact that you re not conscious when asleep, your brain is active during that time. Your
brain goes through four cycles of sleep which occurs for approximately 90 minutes each. The
first three stages of sleep are call Non Rapid Eye Movement (N1, N2, and N3). The first stage of
sleep is call N1. N1 is the stage between sleep and wakefulness. In this cycle, your brain produces
Theta waves. Hypnogogic Hallucinations are also present during this phase. Hypnogogic

In September 1896 Roosevelt s parents sent him to Groton, a boarding school for boys whom

teacher at his new school was described as big, athletic, young clergy man. His head teacher,

Recovery was another aim of Roosevelt s, the public works administration which is part of the
national industrial recovery act of 33 which was for the government to give money to build
schools, dams. Roads, bridges, airports, local offices and parks. This created millions of jobs and a
better life for the Americans in the future. Another recovery act was the AAA aka agricultural
adjustment administration. This agency was to make sure that farms reduced how much product
they were producing, made sure the farms products were up to standards and also to make sure the
farmers didn t tire out the soil.
Roosevelt introduced many acts to reform America for instance the Tennessee valley authority
which was made to build two dams on the Tennessee river, cutting across the powers of the local
state government which made irrigation of dried out land possible and also it was very useful
as it provided electricity for undeveloped areas and created thousands of jobs in areas that were
hit by the depression. The Wagner act was also a new measure which was introduced by
Roosevelt which forced all employers to allow trade unions and allowed for them to have a right

1) Factor 4:
The main aim of factor 4 is to decrease the level of materials utilization and usage of human
resources to one fourth level. The Factor 4 follows a set of guidelines for comparing design options
and for evaluating the performance of buildings and their component systems. Factor 4 suggests
that for humanity to live sustainably today, we must rapidly reduce resource consumption to one
quarter of its current levels. Fortunately, the technology to accomplish Factor 4 reductions in
resource consumption already exists and requires only public policy prioritization and
implementation.
2) Factor 10:

The Natural Step provides a framework for considering the effects of materials selection on human
health. RobГЁrt suggested that many human health problems, particularly those of children, result
from materials we use in our daily lives. The extraction of resources such as fossil fuels and metal
ores from the planet s crust produces carcinogens and results in heavy metals entering the earth s

The concept of eco efficiency includes environmental impacts and costs as a factor in calculating

Essay On Athletic Director Duties
When comparing the list of athletic duties across the four schools, we found more similarities
than differences. In our group we have two public schools which consist of Scoggins Middle
School in McKinney, TX with 1,100 students and 7 sports teams, and Lakin High School in Lakin,
Kansas with 400 students and 15 sports teams. We also have two private schools; Loyola Academy
located in Wilmette, IL has 2,000 students with 24 sports teams, and Cary Academy (Middle and
High School) located in Cary, NC has 800 students and 49 sports teams.
A key similarity between the four schools is scheduling. One of the main athletic director duties is
the scheduling of both home and away games, scheduling referees, and scheduling transportation
for away games. This important duty for any athletic director can take up a large part of their time
depending on how many teams they have per season.
Another area where we saw similarities is in staff management. In our four schools, it is the role of
the athletic director to hire the coaching staff, provide the necessary training, provide feedback and
guidance, and to help mediate conflicts with parents and student athletes. The ... Show more content

director is responsible for creating and managing a budget; where they get the funds to run the
program differs. Fundraising in the private schools does not always fall on the athletic director. For
instance, in one of the private schools listed, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is responsible
for raising money to help fund the athletic program. In this case, the athletic director does not need
to allocate any funds for fundraising events or marketing. In the public schools, athletic directors
are responsible for raising money through fundraising events, booster clubs, and parent fees to help

The Destructive Effects Of Iconoclasm During The Byzantine...
Makoto Emura 3/22/2015 The Destructive Effects of Iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire In
the 4th century, the Roman Empire underwent major changes, becoming the Byzantine Empire.
The Roman religion was replaced by Christianity, specifically the Eastern Orthodox Church, as the
new state religion. Artists helped to spread this new religion by building churches and producing
manuscripts. The artists imagined what religious figures looked like to portray them in art. But
the Church criticized the visual representation of figures at certain periods during the Byzantine
Era. Artists lost their creative freedom during these periods, called iconoclasm. The Early
Byzantine Era ended when the first iconoclasm occurred. One manuscript created during the Early
Byzantine Era was the Rossano Gospels (Image 1). The Rossano Gospels is written in Medieval
Greek during the 6th century, and was discovered in Rossano, Italy. The parchment medium was
colored slightly purple with a rare dye to proclaim the importance of the document. Over time, it
turned red. The document is big 12 x 10.5 inches. As an illuminated manuscript, it is filled with
colorful illustrations. Image 1 shows Christ in Washing of the Feet and Last Supper. The identity of
Christ is easily discernable with his clothes and the golden circle behind his head. To add even more
emphasis, everyone around is looking toward him. Below the illustration are four Old Testament
authors pointing up. The text below them explains what

There were many ships that wanted to leave, and the pirates attacked all of them. Any ship wanting

High School Near Future Research
High School is a completely different compared to middle school. For the first time ever, your
going to have to think about your future and what will be the best thing for you in the long run.
Some of you already have an idea of what you see yourself doing in the future, but the rest of you
may not have a clue what you want to be. When I was in your position, I was repeatedly asked
What do you want to be in the future. I always responded back that I was not sure yet. However,
I was trying to completely avoid that topic as I didn t want to worry about any of that stuff. To
this day I m not 100% sure what I want to be as I believe that all the puzzles will join together in
the near future.
To be successful in high school, you do not have to have everything planned out, but you should
have at least a small idea of what you are going to do. This will be completely up to you as you
have to chose what you like the most or in other words what makes you happy. If you want to
join a club or a specific class, go ahead if it truly makes you happy, but with that being said, do
not join anything in which you are forced to as it has to come naturally to you. I never had a

prices in the United States in the next period of time, based on an analysis of a series of annual
gas prices in the United States from 1982 to 2011. These observations are essential in our
delivery business because so much of our expenses and overall operational costs are, in fact,
based on the gas prices. The main objective of this project is, thus, to analyze the perspectives of
the evolution of gas prices in the next period of time and, based on that, to determine potential
preventive solutions that can help in lowering the impact of a significant increase in gasoline
prices over the next years. As mentioned, the analysis was based on a time series with monthly
gas prices from 1982 to 2011. Gas prices started at around $1.3 a gallon in 1982, with the prices
still affected by the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the limits imposed on imports from the
Middle East because of that. In an overlook on the figures, these went below $1 a gallon from
1987 to 1989 and then again, in 1999. From that moment, the prices have gradually increased until
the present time, with $3.167 a gallon at

Introduction
In the past few decades there have been many developments in the live music events industry,
which have led to live music events growing to be global events. (Goldblatt, J., 2002) There are
several reasons for this development in the music events industry, many of them closely connected
to developments in other sectors that influence the business of live music events. In this essay we
will discuss the commercial, social, legal, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Mintel, 2010) Also charity events have increased the global involvement in music events and
have attracted not only a wider variety of public but also political involvement. Because of this,
live music events have been able to attract a much bigger variety of public, which has enabled the
business to create global music events that are not focused on a particular segment of people but
attract people of all ages and social backgrounds. (Bennett, A., 2001)
Legal
As a result of commercial success and growth in the live music events business legal
involvement has over the years become necessary and this means involvement of an entire
business that has contributed to the growth of the music events industry in many ways.
According to D. Becker (2006) the growth in commercial value and the increase of complexity
of live music events have increased the need to record arrangements in writing and have made
the legal rights and obligations of the parties involved more complex. This has led to the legal
business becoming a big part of the live music business because especially with global music
events so many parties are involved and thus so many legal involvement has become necessary. In
this day and age where digitalization has influenced the music business so severely, new legislation
is introduced every year to update the copyright code (Bargfrede and Mak, 2009) and this has
directly and indirectly influenced the

Royce Dunbar Research Paper
Royce Stewart Dunbar took his first name seriously. As a kid, he collected Matchbox Rolls
Royce s and dreamed of owning a real one. It seemed fitting he should own the prestige car
emblazoned with his name. He never lost that ambition. Over time ambition became obsession
and Royce eventually became proud owner of a Rolls Royce. Born in 1943 in Western Australia,
Royce joined the Royal Australian Navy as a stores assistant, a month before his 18th birthday,
and found himself posted to the HMAS Voyager, where he introduced himself as Roy, probably a
more suitable name for the blokey surrounds of the Australian Navy. On the evening of 10
February 1964, the Voyager, a destroyer, performed exercises off Jervis Bay with the HMAS

Royce plonked Restaurant Royce on Reservoir Road, a major arterial road, next door to a
takeaway chicken shop, and situated midway between a notorious street of public housing, and
the precinct of cheap apartment blocks known as Lego Land. Not quite an oasis of elegance and
aspiration. God knows how he protected the Rolls on the street. Perhaps armed guards... or a
reinforced underground bunker. Despite visits from popular celebrity chef Bernard King, the
restaurant proved less than successful. In the knockabout Cairns of those days, a place where
people complained about needing to buy black thongs for formal events, where the stretch limos
all over the place conveyed, not locals, but Japanese honeymoon couples, very few residents
would risk ridicule by taking a piss elegant drive in a urine coloured Roller. (There s been a marked
increase in that demographic since though.) On quiet nights, or after closing time, Royce cruised
the Esplanade in the roller, and on Saturday nights he motored to Rusty s to party there. Although
the restaurant proved unsuccessful, Royce could still pursue other ventures. He owned the car, and
his bank account still contained a sizable amount of cash. But he had achieved his

The Message Of Jesus Christ
But who do you say that I am? (Mark 8:29). This same question that was asked of Peter and the
disciples speaks within the heart of each person we share the Gospel message with. There comes a
point, at the crux of our catechesis, where the question, Who is Jesus? needs to be answered. At the
heart of catechesis we find, in essence, a Person, the Person of Jesusof Nazareth. (CT 5). This
compelling statement given by Pope John Paul II in his exhortation, Catechesi Tradendae, calls
catechists to always remember the purpose of catechesis. They are to help lead others, through
loving example and careful communication of doctrine, to meet a real Person, the Person of Jesus
Christ and foster a deeper union with the Blessed Trinity. To proclaim the message of Jesus Christ
is vital to an organic catechesis. As catechists, it is our vocation to bring others to know of the
personal relationship that God is seeking to have with each one of them. A relationship in any
facet of the human life requires conversation through both listening and responding. Our
catechesis should be no different. As Pope Francis states in Evangelii Gaudium, It is the
message capable of responding to the desire for the infinite which abides in every human heart
(EG 165). As we actively listen to the word of God, we should be cut to the heart (Acts 2:37) in the
same way as those who heard Peter s Pentecost speech as he boldly proclaimed the kerygma.
Catechesis is not to be a teaching of each

Tax Credits For Homebuyers Homeowners

Receipts are the best documentation, but cancelled checks, photos and other evidence might
prove acceptable alternatives or corroborating evidence. If your expenses are under $250, a
receipt isn t always necessary, but you should keep an expense diary that explains each expense.
Not Planning Proactively Itemized medical deductions can be deducted only over certain annual
limits, so it makes sense to schedule two or more surgeries in the same year for tax purposes.
Other itemized deductions have similar limits and a 2% ceiling, so try to concentrate spending in a

unusual deductions can pass if you explain them adequately. If your return is kicked out by the DFI
system, someone looks over your return. If you explain the deduction adeptly, your return might not
trigger an audit. It s also important not to overexplain, or the Shakespearean quotation from Hamlet

Life In Ancient Greece
The Greeks wore light, loose clothes as the weather was hot for most of the year. Long pieces of
colourful fabric were used to make the Greek clothes.
Men would wear a tunic, called a chiton. It was made out of large squares of linen or wool ( wool
for winter and linen for summer) held in place by pins at the shoulders and a belt around the waist
The women wore similar things to the men. They used pins in various places to hold it together.
Unlike the men s, the dresses always went down to the ankles.
The way children were educated was different in each city state.
In Sparta, reading and writing was unimportant. Boys learned to be good fighters.
In Athens citizens had to be educated to take part in voting in the Assembly. Athenian boys also

To undertake effective communication, provide a very positive image of his company and

What Are The Advantages Of Mechanical Pulping
Mechanical pulping is typically used for softwood. One of the advantages of mechanical pulping

Action In Judaism
Many people inherit their religion from their parents and usually die in it; however, there are some
questions that need to be asked before choosing a religion. The most important choice should be
between believe or action. Action should have more emphasis than belief in a religion. Therefore,
Judaism is the perfect religionto accommodate right action due to its orthopraxy nature, due
diligence to society, not forcing others to convert, and knowing what each individual is destined to
accomplish while incorporating belief; in which it is hard to find the right combination of action
and belief in other religions.
One of the interesting aspect of Judaism is that Jews are more concerned with the book of Torah

Nigerian Diaspora And The African Diaspora
I am a part of the Nigerian diaspora, one of the millions of Nigerians living in a foreign nation. I
moved to the United States at the age of 8 and since then, the Nigerian culture I had known and
brought with me has changed and adapted to the dominant culture of the USA. Many Nigerian
families and communities abroad are faced with the same internal struggle of holding onto their
traditional cultural values, while ensuring enough adaptation into the dominant culture. Due to the
diversity of nations Nigerian migrants have settled in, the end result, a hyphenated Nigerian
identity, differs greatly across continents and countries. Through the Frances L. Phillips scholarship,
I would like the opportunity to explore the Nigerian diaspora communities in 6 different Western

I would like to explore the diaspora communities in in Italy, Ireland, The Netherlands, Austria,

When asked if the Corvallis school district should change their schedule to a full year schedule

Longer breaks, being done faster with a class, all sound intriguing but you have to really think it

if the new schedule works for everyone. When you first hear about the schedule and look at its
outline, it sounds pretty solid. More breaks, longer breaks, and the main idea of getting done with
core classes faster. For a student, hearing that sounds pretty good. For example if a student doesn t

A bunch of students at Corvallis come from farm and ranching houses. Their parents rely on
having their child home to help with various chores. Whether it be for irrigating or helping with
the crop or helping with the livestock. All of these are not a one person job, they all require help
and most of the time the help is their kid. If there was a school schedule that went into the summer,
the kids with parents who need their help would be left two options: try to do all the work by
themselves, which takes money, or hire someone to help out, which takes money. In a town like
Corvallis, Montana that schedule doesn t work with a lot of people.
Students already have a tough time with school work. Some kids struggle a lot with certain

ideas and opinions to generate a potential research question. The common methods of the research

Firstly, if Robert Durst was found guilty of killing his wife Kathleen Durst; I feel as if this would
be the consensus view of crime. This law states all crime is reflected by public opinion. During
the series, The Jinx, many of Kathleen s friends and family said they felt as if Robert had
something to do with the disappearance of his wife. Some of Kathleen staked out the house of
Robert Durst and seen him discarding some of her belongs; not to long after she was concluded to

Robert s actions contributed to the disappearance of his wife proved he was a threat to society, no

On the same view of crime, the killing of his friend Susan Berman can be looked upon as a
consensus view of crime as well. How will the society feel with a man who executed someone

Difference Between Divorce And Divorce
Legal Separation vs. Divorce
A legal separation is not a divorce. Many couples opt for a legal separation if they want to live
apart but do not want to completely end their marriage. The primary difference between a legal
separation and a divorce is that in a legal separation, you still remain married but in a divorce, the
marriage is terminated. Also, in case of a legal separation, the two parties remain legally married
and cannot remarry. But if they divorce, both partners are free to remarry once their divorce is
finalized.
Why Some Choose Legal Separation?
Choosing legal separation is a matter of personal choice or preference. There are some couples
who decide to go their separate ways because of religious beliefs or due to health insurance
concerns. There are others who separate because they are moving to a different county or state.
While these couples choose to live apart, they do not necessarily want to terminate their marriage at
that point in time.
How Does One Apply for Legal Separation?
If you live in Oceanside, California and are thinking of separating from your spouse, you will have
to:
File a petition for legal separation
Take decisions with your partner regarding child custody, child support, alimony, and property
division

you go for an annulment, it will be as if there had never been a marriage at all. However,
everybody doesn t qualify for an annulment. You need a valid reason to claim that the marriage is
void. For example, if the consent to marriage was obtained either through fraud or coercion or if
the marriage occurred solely to obtain a green card or citizenship or if there was some form of
misrepresentation, these could be grounds for an

the collapse of the New York Wall Street stock market in 1929, America suffered from a long
economic depression. They only came out of this at the beginning of the Second World War in

that all money they made had to be sent back to them, for their children and wives. Work was
very poorly paid, so it was very hard for people to buy their own land, which is why it was only a

The Movie Zombies By Issac Marion
Love, romance, and comedies have always been a success in whether it be books or movies. These
are genres that throughout centuries have succeeded in standing the tests of time. The author Issac
Marion took on this genre with an undead twist. Marion published a book about a zombie, R, and
his perspective of the now post apocalyptic world. As the story progresses, the audiencesees what
zombie life is, R s experience of love, and the war between the living and the undead. Three years
after publishing the book, Jonathan Levine created the movie adaptation. Zombies, at the time of
the movie release, were perceived as romantic in an eerie way. Marion s original plot changed into
more of a romantic/comedy genre that would appeal to the teen,... Show more content on

The specific music chosen for the film solely coincided with what was popular at the time of
movie production, and what the filmmakers targeted audience, teens and young adults, would
respond well to and relate to. Through the filmmakers, careful consideration of what to put in
the scenes, what music to use, and even which actors to hire, caused to the movie s success. The
filmmakers interpreted the book s agents into more teen relatable characters to make the movie
relatable and more of a success. Originally the book suggests R s character as a business type
man. Marion described him as wearing black dress pants, gray button up, and a tie which gives
him more of a mid to late twenties age range(Rawden). In the book, R has children and a
marriage which would also cause for little to no interest in younger audiences since most
teenagers and young adults cannot relate to this. This However, the film depicts him more of a
teen or early twenties by wearing ripped jeans, simple white tee, sneakers, and a red hoodie. This
change in the character s physical appearance would cause for the younger movie audiences to
relate more, connect more, and ultimately causing them to have more interest in the movie. The
filmmakers of the movie also chose to pick very young looking actors to emphasize this teen
romance theme in the movie. In contrast, they chose R s best friend, an older looking actor, to
contrast these film s young leading stars. If

Othello, The Moor of Venice Essay examples
Othello, the Moor of Venice is one of the major tragedies written by William Shakespeare that
follows the main character, Othello through his trials and tribulations. Othello, the Moor of Venice
is similar to William Shakespeare s other tragedies and follows a set of specific rules of drama.
The requirements include, following the definition of a tragedy, definition of tragic hero,
containing a reversal of fortune, and a descent from happiness. William Shakespeare fulfills
Aristotle s requirements in this famous play. Aristotle the famous philosopher outlined several
requirements in which a play or piece of drama is to follow.

Othello s tragic flaw can be viewed as jealously which ultimately leads to his downfall. When
Othello is manipulated by Iago to believe that Desdemona is having an affair with Desdemona,
Othello does not change from his good person mentality. However, Othello carries out with the
plan for murder for which he believes is a fine reason to end Desdemona s once previous life to
preserve her innocence. Othello is the tragic hero within the play titled after him and because of
his title, because of this Othello, the Moor of Venice follows one of Aristotle s requirements.
Aristotle s second requirement for a tragedy is that the tragic hero must have a reversal of
fortune. In the beginning of the play, Othello is seen as content with his new bride: For know,
Iago, But that I love the gentle Desdemona (1.2.24 25). As the play progresses, and Iago s plan
culminates, Othello s good fortune begins to turn. After Othello returns from war at sea with the
Turks, his fortune begins a downward spiral. Shakespeare often focuses his plays on human nature
as well as fate, which Othello s fate ended in the tragic ending due to his reversal of fortune once
the claims against Desdemona begin. After Othello learns of a possible affair between Cassio and
Desdemona, at this instance is the turning point in Othello s fortune because it changes his views,
attitudes and ultimately his fate. In

I Want To Visit To Tulane
I want to attend a relatively small private school in an urban area with a challenging curriculum
and thought provoking courses. At Tulane, I would receive the opportunities to participate in
exceptional undergraduate research and to develop personal relationships with my professors.
Tulane also has my first choice major, Molecular Biology. Tulane has superb academic flexibility,
so I could easily double major in Molecular Biology and Chemistry. I have always had Tulane on
my collegeradar, because my father attended Tulane. Recently, I had the opportunity to come to

Taking a Look at Greece
Research Paper Greece
Greece is a thriving country, but if it wasn t for its beautiful islands, seas, and mountains, Greece
would not be as strong of a country today. All these factors have helped Greece grow as a country.
Throughout history, various mountains such as Mount Olympus and seas such as the
Mediterranean have played an important role in the development of Greece history and culture.
Greece is a country that is surrounded by mostly water, and the sea has played an important role in
its history ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). The ancient Greeks were often known to be called
seafarers looking for opportunities for trade and founding new coastal sites along the Mediterranean
sea. Trading stations were the furthest outposts of Greek culture. At these trading stations, Greek
goods, such as bronze, silver, olive oil, wine and pottery were exchanged for more luxurious items
( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). Also, well established maritime routes around the Mediterranean
sea enabled foreigners to travel to Greece. After the military campaign of Alexander the Great, a
lot more intense trade routes were opened across Asia. These trade routes extended as far as
Afghanistan and the Indus River Valley ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). Not only did these trade
routes help with trading goods, it always helped in introducing Greece to new cultures and in
spreading Greek culture throughout Europe. The spread of these cultures can be known as cultural

Classic Cars and the R Word If you ve been around classic cars, you ve probably noticed a few

removal and repair can be a huge undertaking for a classic car if the rust significantly corroded
the affected area. And although no one likes rust, it doesn t have to be scary to remove. There is
a slew of cost effective options for light rust removal such as using apple cider vinegar (really!) to

Flat Iron Mesa in San Juan County
Flat Iron Mesa is located in the heart of the Moab and Canyonlands area and enters San Juan
County. It is surrounded by the Hatch Wash Canyon to the west and the La Sal mountain range
towards the east. The vast features of the mesa and surrounding canyons demonstrate the
remarkable effects of millions of years of erosion on a landscape of mostly sedimentary rock. The
mesa s extensive landscape is covered with biological soil crust as well as an abundance of
ephemeral pools. The potholes throughout the mesa are naturally occurring basins in deposits of
sandstone that progressively collect rainwater and wind blown sedimentwhich gradually erode the
underlying rock; leaving a series of circular impressions along the mesa s floor. Weathering,
geologic processes such as erosion, and climatic shifts allow for this immense desert ecosystem
to continually evolve and change which has taken place for millions of years. This geologically
wealthy environment is composed of alternating flat lying layers of soft and hard deposits of
mostly sedimentary rocks. Interchanging slopes and cliffs along the landscape helped form these
layers of rock which can be seen fully exposed in areas of the mesa. Deposition of this landscape
mainly occurred during the Permian, Pennsylvanian, Triassic and Jurassic time periods. The
assortment of warm hues of sandstone were produced by varying levels of iron oxide minerals
during formation. For hundreds of millions of years, geologic material

Pride In Shakespeare s Othello
As Toba Beta once said, Pride is the mother of arrogance . Pride can cause anyone to overvalue
themselves and lose sight of the truth. In Othello s case, his pride puts himself on a pedestal. When
Iago challenges this by suggesting that Desdemona cheats on him, he slowly loses his confidence
and becomes weak and insecure. Iagovaguely warns him to not become jealous of Cassio, and
Othellos fragile ego once again causes him to let his mind get the best of him. In Shakespeare s
Othello, Othello s pride leads to his downfall in order to show that too much confidence eventually
leads to emotional self destruction. In the beginning acts, Othello is depicted as a very strong and
confident man. When Iago reveals to Othello that Brabantio is angry about his relationship with
Desdemona, Othello continues to be confident and believe that he belongs with Desdemona.
Othello shows his confidence by saying that his [...] parts, my title, and my perfect soul / Shall
manifest me rightly (I.ii.36 37). This shows that Othello has the strength to continue fighting for
Desdemona, although her father does not support the relationship. Othello s pride causes him to
believe that because of his legal status and positive personality, Brabantio will accept him as
Desdemona s partner. Although he is incorrect, his theory proves that he... Show more content on

Othello s pride and self esteem slowly diminishes because he let Iago get the best of him. Telling

want to lose his dignity. Othello s self destruction was caused by his loss of pride as the acts go

Relapse Behavior
A major issue when treating alcoholism is the likelihood of relapse. A lack of social support may
contribute to an increased likelihood of relapse, while maintaining positive social support can
decrease this risk. One study discussed the possibility of social interaction influencing relapse
behavior in the prairie vole. This study focused on the alcoholdeprivation effect (ADE), where
animals that had been previously exposed to ethanolshow increased consumption after a period of

Certain drugs are now being studied to determine whether they can be used to limit alcohol drinking
and potentially treat alcoholism. Prairie voles are now involved in drug and alcohol studies
because of their social nature. Naltrexone, a drug currently in use for treating alcoholism, was

animals were continually given water and had access to 10% ethanol each day. Animals received
injections of saline the first two days, then naltrexone or saline the last two, depending on group.
Both sexes of prairie voles were affected by the drug, as there was a significant decrease in alcohol

The Growing Problem of Music Piracy Essay
The Growing Problem of Music Piracy
At the turn of the millenium, the music industry has been faced with an unforeseen phenomenon
that has affected its very foundation mass scale music piracy. The decline of CD sales in the past
three years have been blamed on the availability of songs that can be downloaded from Internet
sites and service providers like Napster, KaZaA and Morpheus free of charge. Today the issue of
intellectual copyright infringement in music has been taken more seriously than ever before, as
large record labels and companies like Sony and EMI struggle to maintain healthy album sales in
the face of online music piracy. In addition, music piracy affects more than just the corporate world
it affects the very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first illegal music file provider on the Internet was Napster. This program was the brainchild
of a then 18 year old student named Shawn Fanning and upon its release in 1999, the popularity
of his program grew tremendously with every passing day. Thus it was only a matter of time
before the music industry took notice. By December of that year the Recording Industry
Association of America sued Napster for copyright infringement, stating that ?Napster is about
facilitating piracy, and trying to build a business on the backs of artists and copyright
owners.?(McManus) Although Napster would soon lose the battle to the RIAA in court, many
variants of Napster began popping up, most notably Gnutella and KaZaA, which were file
sharing services that offered more of the same free content. By 2003, the US $14 billion music
industry witnessed a 31% CD sales decline since 2000 and continually blamed illegal file sharing
for their woes. Critics of the music industry say however that ?there are other factors to blame
[for poor CD sales], such as stiff competition for the entertainment dollar from video games and
DVDs, fewer hit songs or artists and the high price of CDs.?(Evangelista) Regardless of the
reasoning however, the ethical issue of pirated music is still prevalent.
On a moral standpoint, record labels view people who collect and share copyrighted music without
paying royalties or compensation to the

The Bombing Of The Islamic Government Of Iran
From the recent massacres happening in Iraq and Syria, we can gather that Washington has
trampled on a path which has been seen as a way to redefine the war in Iraq, an effective scheme
to bring the command of Assad to its crumbling demises and to recalibrate an inclusive plan to
collapse the Islamic Government of Iran. Immediately coinciding with the withdrawal of US forces
from Iraq, an organized string of deadly explosions gripped Iraq, leading to the massacre of dozens
of civilians. Multiple bomb explosions happening simultaneously in Baghdad, claiming the lives of
countless innocent civilians. Another series of explosions targeted Shia Muslims killing at least 71
people. Most of the explosions which targeted the Shia Muslims are maliciously meant to inspire
the feeling and doubt that it is a matter of sectarian violence, a plot devised by the US and its allies
to justify that the Iraqi politicians are intent to provoke a communal bloodletting which is gradually
tearing the country apart. Washington began to capitalize on tension in the country and playing the
religious card on one hand and sending a message that Iraq is not capable of maintaining security
and stability in the country on the other.
As the situation stands, Washington is redefining the war in Iraq by provoking chaos and
commotion in the ravaged country with three apparent motivations.. One, to create the impression
that the withdrawal of US troops was a mistake and that the country is diving into

Summary Of Beast Of Waste And Desolation
In The Beast of Waste and Desolation in Barry Holstun Lopez s book Of Wolves and Men, he
writes about the attitudes he encountered from people when discussing wolves. These attitudes
came from several different sources, ranging from several different Native American tribes and
field biologists to ranchers, trappers, and general residents of the areas where he conducted his
research. Lopez expressed his discomfort when he spoke with the latter group, as those people
that felt there was nothing wrong with killing wolves, and that the practice, overall, was a good
thing. Lopez writes that it seemed many of these people appeared to be filled with a general
hatred; of government, laws, and wolves. The killing of wolves held a vengeful element, with no
remorse or regret. He goes into detail of the single minded persecution of the wolf, even though
many of the conflicts with wolves were man made. One example provided was of man depleting
many of the wolves natural prey sources like elk and buffalo, and as a result the wolves turned to
preying on the domestic stock instead. Suddenly, man was justified in killing wolves as it became
necessary to protect livestock. The larger questions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lopez s writing is important to my paper because he documents the social and psychological history
of human interactions with wolves. Mr. Lopez has been a highly respected authority on human and

of the vicious and cruel treatment that wolves were subjected to documents the almost
incomprehensible evil the human animal is capable of. This information helps present the mindset
that many people have carried forward to today, and illustrates the irrational fear and hatred humans
still exhibit when dealing with wolves. He gave a startling and alarming window into the human
mind, and clearly demonstrates the resistance the wolf reintroduction and recovery efforts had to go

Mussolini s rise to power
How far do you agree, that the Bienno Rosso was the most important reason for Mussolini and
Fascism s rise to power in Italy, 1919 22?
Mussolini and the fascists managed to rise to power and take control of Italy in 1922. Mussolini
s rise to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal
Italian state, which existed before his take over. The main factors that led to Mussolini s rise to
power were the impact of the First World War, the weaknesses of the Risorgimento, the Biennio
Rosso , the elite s support for the Fascist Party, and the March on Rome. All of these factors
contributed to Mussolini and the fascist s rise to power.

The main political alignments of the newly unified Italy were the liberalists, socialist and the
Catholic Church supporters and they all had different views and opposed each other. When
Giolitti was in power he tried to win over all the key groups in order for them to accept and
support the liberal state, however he was unable to do so because in trying to please one section he
would end up alienating the other.
During the years of the liberal system the development of industry in the North led to the founding
of trade unions and cooperative organizations, which then resulted in a significant growth of
socialism.
The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and
glory for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento
were made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry
of the Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini
gain power due to his anti communist beliefs.
As a result of how Italy was created but not fully unified, the new Italian state suffered from a
variety of weaknesses which the new liberal state was unable to tackle these. This made Italy
susceptible to the appeal of fascism, and therefore aided Mussolini s rise to power.
Another reason that led to Mussolini s rise to power was the Biennio Rosso which took place in

  • 2. Comparing Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est and Crane s Do Not... Comparing Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est and Crane s Do Not Weep, Maiden, For War Is Kind Both Stephen Crane s Do Not Weep, Maiden, For War Is Kind and Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est use vivid images, diction rich with connotation, similes, and metaphors to portray the irony between the idealized glory of war and the lurid reality of war. However, by looking at the different ways these elements are used in each poem, it is clear that the speakers in the two poems are soldiers who come from opposite ends of the spectrum of military ranks. One speaker is an officer and the other is a foot soldier. Each of the speakers/soldiers is dealing with the repercussions from his own realities of the horror of war based on his duty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most vivid and shocking image used is when the speaker internally addresses the child and tells him that his father tumbled in the yellow trenches, / Raged at his breast, gulped and died (13 14). This is not something one would tell a child, especially when consoling him. The use of the word trenches, which could be metaphors for graves, contributes to the implicit theme of a funeral setting. This contradiction between verbally comforting family members and internally giving them detailed descriptions of their loved one s death, shows the speaker s struggle with the idea that families and others typically hear the glossed over story of the nobility of soldiers and the glory of war. This speaker is battling with his military duty of consoling the family members and with his conscience wanting to open their eyes to the fact that these men die gruesome and painful deaths. The second and fourth stanzas particularly support the theory that the officer is at the funeral of a lower ranking soldier whom he led into battle. In the second and fourth stanzas, the officer is reviewing his own thoughts during the time of the battle; this is an indication that he is struggling with the decisions he has made. At the beginning of the second stanza, he uses an image of the Hoarse, booming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Policy Within The Global Economy When discussing social policy within the current global economy, it s quite impossible to ignore the effects of globalisation on nation states but also in the overall global economy in relation to poverty, environmental changes, trade, culture etc. Globalisation is a highly contested term due to its broad definition which causes confusion as to what it actually means (Gills, 2002; Higgot, 1999). Yeates (2002) refers to globalisation as the loosening of boundaries of things such as trade, labour and migration and further goes on to speak of strong globalisation to indicate the intensity and inevitable nature especially in relation to the constraints globalisation poses on national governments and the policymaking process. Events such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There will also be a heavy focus on transnational corporations as they are seen as one of the most important actors in shaping social policy. It is important to remember that globalisation in not only about economic effects but it can also be discussed in relation to political globalisation and how political decisions have shifted due to upwards to the European Union and beyond also cultural globalisation that has seen the Mcdonalization of traditional culture into the international culture of consumerism (Ritzer,1993). Ginsburg (2001) looked as social policy within Ireland and the UK and argues that changes that have occurred within the nation state have been due to neo liberal hegemony. During the 1980 s under the Margaret Thatcher administration there was an adaptation of neo liberalism as restraints were put on social expenditure, taxation of individuals and corporations and there was an increase in the flexibility of labour markets as the markets are seen as wealth creating mechanisms (Ginsburg, 2001; Cerny and Evans, 2004). The intensification of neo liberal globalisation has left governments trying to find a balance between competing with demands of economic globalisation whilst also considering the possible economic and ... • 4. How To Write An Essay About Hershey Park When people think hershey they most likely think of chocolate. But it is also a city and a beautiful amusement park. Hersheypark is one of the most famous amusement parks in america. Chartsbin.com ranks it as 39th biggest amusement park clocking in at 121 acres. It has become a classic park that is a family favorite for every local and visitor. Hersheypark is an amazing theme park and this essay is about to cover everything from the Milton S. Hershey saga to the post Milton S Hershey saga. Hershey park was founded in 1906 by Milton S. Hershey. It was originally not an amusement park, but was just a pavilion. He used this pavilion to represent hershey, pa. With beautiful flower gardens and fountains. • 5. Comparing Plato, Descartes, And The Matrix Plato, Descartes, and the Matrix Latalvin Bullock Liberty University Is what I am seeing real or is it a figment of my imagination? Many people have found themselves asking this question at some point in their life. This has been a subject that has been addressed by many philosophers. In this paper the approach to this topic is centered on Plato s The Allegory of the Cave and Descartes s Meditation I of The Things Which We May Doubt as compared to the movie The Matrix. One of the most obvious similarities of the three passages is that they all call in to question what reality is. In The Matrix reality is conceived through a computer. The computer simulates the peoples perception of reality. They are not truly aware of their own reality because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But through their connection and manipulation of the computer they believe that what they are living and seeing is real. When Neo agrees to take the red pill and follow Morpheus into the world of the Matrix it disturbs him to see that people are living out a virtual reality that is not true reality. This calls into question his own reality and was the life he was living real or imagined. Plato s Allegory of the Cave also shows a distorted sense of reality. The prisoners believe that what they see through the shadows is reality. Being tied by the fetters there is no way for them to see any other reality around them. Based solely on what they see through the shadows are real to them. The shadows are an artificial source of reality for the prisoners as the computer is an artificial source for those living in the Matrix even though both the prisoners and those hooked to the computer feel that it is entirely real. Shah Roll Number: 21 MA I University of Mumbai Department of Applied Psychology and Counseling Centre Abstract The generation effect refers to the experimental findings that when the subject is asked to generate all/part of the stimulus the item is always remembered better than the stimulus that the subject only read (Slamecka Graf). That is the information that the subject generates/creates by oneself is remembered better compared to the information they only read. Results show that in all the cases, the performance in generation condition was superior to that in read condition. Using a repeated measures design, subjects were exposed to 2 levels (conditions, namely, read condition and generate condition). After each condition, they were engaged in a simple recall task, remembering as many words as they could. This phenomenon is applied even across variations in encoding rules, timed or self placed presentation and along with between and within subjects design. A number of potential explanatory principles are considered and their difficulties are enumerated in the following report. To conclude, generation effectis a robust finding. Keywords: Generate Condition. Recall, Memory, Paired associate. Introduction The given report is an empirically based report. Pglo Transformation Essay Connor Lauffenburger 3/17/13 pGlo Transformation Lab Report I Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to show the genetic transformation of E. coli bacteria with a plasmid that codes for Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) and contains a gene regulatory system that confers ampicillin resistance. A plasmidis a genetic structure in a cell that can replicate independently of chromosomes. In this lab, the Green Fluorescent Protein, which is typically found in the bioluminescent jellyfish Aequorea Victoria, was cloned, purified, and moved from one organism to another with the use of pGlo plasmids. It was hypothesized that if bacteria that were transformed with +pGlo plasmids are given the gene for GFP, then transformed cell colonies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, the transformation efficiency was calculated by dividing the total amount of DNA on the agar plate in Ојl by the number of cells growing on the +pGLO LB/amp/ara plate. During the purification section of this lab, the LB/amp/ara agar plate was examined for well isolated green colonies and the LB/amp plate was observed for white colonies with space between each other. These colonies were circled on the outside of the plates using a marker. Next, two 15 milliliter culture tubes containing 2 milliliters of nutrient growth media were obtained and labeled + and . Using a new inoculation tube, the circled colonies from each plate were scooped out and immersed in their respective culture tubes. Once the bacteria was mixed into the solution, the tubes were sealed and placed horizontally into the 32вЃ° incubator for 24 hours. After labeling a new microtube with a marker, the culture tubes were removed from the incubator and observed under the ultraviolet lamp. Using a sterile pipette, the contents of the (+) culture tube were transferred to the 2 milliliter mictrotube and the ( ) culture tube was disposed of. The (+) tube was then spun in the centrifuge at maximum speed for 5 minutes. Kenyan Independence Movement Kenyan Independence Movement The East Africa Protectorate was first colonized by British settlers in 1895 and with the creation of the treaty of Versailles in 1920 it officially came under British control as the colony of Kenya. The people of Kenya were never content with having the white settlers take their land from them and continuously expressed their thoughts. However, Kenya wouldn t become an independent nation until December 12, 1963. Kenya s road to independence was filled with oppression and disappointment. All of his attempts to draw sympathy in Europe failed and he returned to Kenya at the end of World War II to try to get his people a political voice in the government. Originally, the KAU was only made up of the Kikuyu elite , but ultimately it widens its sphere of influence to encompass many of the different ethnicities within Kenya. What had started as a small group of intellectuals would grow to include over 150,000 angry Kenyans by 1951. Kenyatta believed strongly that violence would only hurt their cause. If they approached things in a political and peaceful manner, it would show the British that these people were civilized and ready to govern themselves. The KAU continually tried to gain more political power in the government, but the colonial government did everything it could to prevent the KAU from succeeding. When the KAU tried appealing to the British government, they got nothing but promises. The Kenyans started growing restless, waiting for promises that will never be fulfilled. To many people, violence seemed like the only way to solve their problems. When peaceful independent movements failed to succeed, people gave up hope that their problems could be solved peacefully. • 9. Asian American Experience Through Art The Asian American Experience Explained Through Art Introduction The United States is the land of the free, and the home of the brave according to the song, but there is a dichotomy that exists between those who have called the United States their home for a long period of time, and those who are immigrating to the US. Asian Americans are a group that very few think of as having difficulties because the stereotype is of a group that is intelligent and is actually doing better than the average American. While this may seem to be true, better grades in a school setting does not mean that people who come from other countries are not experiencing racism (both overt and subtle), stereotyping and alienation in this country. Although there has been some difficulty, many groups are experiencing newfound hope because of the actions that they are taking. The plight, and the hope of the Asian cultures are being documented by artists of different stripes who are eager to depict what has happened to Asians as they try to build their own America, and assimilate into the one that was built before they came. In this paper, the Asian American cultures will be examined through the art that has been produced over the many years that Asian people have striven to make their way as new Americans. Searching for an Identity Leaving one s own country and moving to another is one of the most difficult journeys anyone can make. In one s home country, he or she has a place, an identity that is ... In our group we have two public schools which consist of Scoggins Middle School in McKinney, TX with 1,100 students and 7 sports teams, and Lakin High School in Lakin, Kansas with 400 students and 15 sports teams. We also have two private schools; Loyola Academy located in Wilmette, IL has 2,000 students with 24 sports teams, and Cary Academy (Middle and High School) located in Cary, NC has 800 students and 49 sports teams. One of the main athletic director duties is the scheduling of both home and away games, scheduling referees, and scheduling transportation for away games. This important duty for any athletic director can take up a large part of their time depending on how many teams they have per season. Another area where we saw similarities is in staff management. • 17. The Destructive Effects Of Iconoclasm During The Byzantine... Makoto Emura 3/22/2015 The Destructive Effects of Iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire In the 4th century, the Roman Empire underwent major changes, becoming the Byzantine Empire. The Roman religion was replaced by Christianity, specifically the Eastern Orthodox Church, as the new state religion. Artists helped to spread this new religion by building churches and producing manuscripts. The artists imagined what religious figures looked like to portray them in art. But the Church criticized the visual representation of figures at certain periods during the Byzantine Era. Artists lost their creative freedom during these periods, called iconoclasm. The Early Byzantine Era ended when the first iconoclasm occurred. One manuscript created during the Early Byzantine Era was the Rossano Gospels (Image 1). The Rossano Gospels is written in Medieval Greek during the 6th century, and was discovered in Rossano, Italy. The parchment medium was colored slightly purple with a rare dye to proclaim the importance of the document. Over time, it turned red. The document is big 12 x 10.5 inches. As an illuminated manuscript, it is filled with colorful illustrations. Image 1 shows Christ in Washing of the Feet and Last Supper. For the first time ever, your going to have to think about your future and what will be the best thing for you in the long run. Some of you already have an idea of what you see yourself doing in the future, but the rest of you may not have a clue what you want to be. When I was in your position, I was repeatedly asked What do you want to be in the future. I always responded back that I was not sure yet. Part II This project was aimed at creating some reasonable forecasts of the trend of gas prices in the United States in the next period of time, based on an analysis of a series of annual gas prices in the United States from 1982 to 2011. These observations are essential in our delivery business because so much of our expenses and overall operational costs are, in fact, based on the gas prices. The main objective of this project is, thus, to analyze the perspectives of the evolution of gas prices in the next period of time and, based on that, to determine potential preventive solutions that can help in lowering the impact of a significant increase in gasoline prices over the next years. As mentioned, the analysis was based on a time series with monthly gas prices from 1982 to 2011. Gas prices started at around $1.3 a gallon in 1982, with the prices still affected by the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the limits imposed on imports from the Middle East because of that. In an overlook on the figures, these went below $1 a gallon from 1987 to 1989 and then again, in 1999. (Bennett, A., 2001) Legal As a result of commercial success and growth in the live music events business legal involvement has over the years become necessary and this means involvement of an entire business that has contributed to the growth of the music events industry in many ways. According to D. Becker (2006) the growth in commercial value and the increase of complexity of live music events have increased the need to record arrangements in writing and have made the legal rights and obligations of the parties involved more complex. This has led to the legal business becoming a big part of the live music business because especially with global music events so many parties are involved and thus so many legal involvement has become necessary. In this day and age where digitalization has influenced the music business so severely, new legislation is introduced every year to update the copyright code (Bargfrede and Mak, 2009) and this has directly and indirectly influenced the

This same question that was asked of Peter and the disciples speaks within the heart of each person we share the Gospel message with. There comes a point, at the crux of our catechesis, where the question, Who is Jesus? needs to be answered. At the heart of catechesis we find, in essence, a Person, the Person of Jesusof Nazareth. (CT 5). This compelling statement given by Pope John Paul II in his exhortation, Catechesi Tradendae, calls catechists to always remember the purpose of catechesis. They are to help lead others, through loving example and careful communication of doctrine, to meet a real Person, the Person of Jesus Christ and foster a deeper union with the Blessed Trinity. To proclaim the message of Jesus Christ is vital to an organic catechesis. As catechists, it is our vocation to bring others to know of the personal relationship that God is seeking to have with each one of them. A relationship in any facet of the human life requires conversation through both listening and responding. Our catechesis should be no different. In a town like Corvallis, Montana that schedule doesn t work with a lot of people. Students already have a tough time with school work. Some kids struggle a lot with certain subjects. Many couples opt for a legal separation if they want to live apart but do not want to completely end their marriage. The primary difference between a legal separation and a divorce is that in a legal separation, you still remain married but in a divorce, the marriage is terminated. Also, in case of a legal separation, the two parties remain legally married and cannot remarry. But if they divorce, both partners are free to remarry once their divorce is finalized. Why Some Choose Legal Separation? Choosing legal separation is a matter of personal choice or preference. There are some couples who decide to go their separate ways because of religious beliefs or due to health insurance concerns. There are others who separate because they are moving to a different county or state. While these couples choose to live apart, they do not necessarily want to terminate their marriage at that point in time. How Does One Apply for Legal Separation?
