Tick Tick Tock Analysis
Tick Tock Tick Tock. The time goes by, every second intensifies the fear. A fear of being sent to
the gas chamber, being starved to death, or being sent to concentration camps. Other Jews worst
nightmare had come true as they were being squeezed between over 100 others in one cattle cart,
on their death ride to the heavens. It was like playing cops and robbers, but to the extreme. A
genocide in which six million European Jewswere killed by Adolf Hitlers Nazi Germany, and the
World War II collaborators with the Nazis. This is the Holocaust. One of the darkest times in
history, where the diversity of religion resulted in annihilation. Every Jew that the Nazis found were
sent to concentration camps, starved to death and much more. While many... Show more content on

Adolfo Kaminsky saved almost 10,000 children by creating counterfeits of legal documents
through a Jewish resistance network he was recruited to in France. While all the Jews were in
danger of being captured, those who assisted them were too. Coming from a background of
Russian Jews and being born in Argentina, he was also part of the misery. He along with millions
of Jews were sent to concentration camps, however Adolfo and his family were rescued, due to
the papers that they had from Argentina. Each of their passports came from Argentina, resulting
in the government fighting for their protection. They were held hostage in a concentration camp
for months, but due to these papers they were allowed to leave, while others walked towards
their death. Being grateful for the blessings that god has given to his family, he became a god
for the other Jewish children. His selfless acts rescued thousands of Jews from their despair,
however he was dissatisfied with the fact that he did not have the ability to help any more Jewish
children. Kaminsky once said The smallest error and you send someone to prison or death, he
told me. It s a great responsibility. It s heavy. It s not at all a pleasure. Years later he s still haunted
by the work, explaining: I think mostly of the people that I couldn t save. Although it was strenuous

Dillon V. Jogbra
Employers that do not follow their disciplinary policies, and related procedures, may get sued for
breach of contract or wrongful discharge. Courts have ruled that disciplinary policies can be
contracts, even when employers include at will statements in them, if the policies contain
provisions promising that the employer will follow specific disciplinary procedures. So, in Dillon
v. Champion Jogbra, Inc., the Vermont Supreme Court found the disclaimer printed in an employee
manual was in conflict with the employer s elaborate discipline and discharge system, which the
employer said would be carried out in a fair and consistent manner. The Court ruled that the
employer was sending mixed messages to employees about their status. Accordingly,... Show more

733). The implied contract in this case consisted of two points. First, the written statements in the
handbook were conflicting with the at will employment relationship and the disclaimer language.
Second, the conduct and oral statements from the employer were given that gave the employee
reason to believe that her job was safe. The oral statement made by the employer was it will take
you four to six months to feel comfortable with [the] position which gave the impression that she
would have that time to settle in with the new job. 3. Explain how the employer breached the
implied contract. The employer breached the implied oral contract because in less than two months
Dillon was called into her supervisor s office and was terminated from that position in which the
employer stated that it was not working out. The written contact, according to the Champion Jogbra
s policy, was that actions will be carried out in a fair and consistent manner. Concerning the
disclaimer at the start of the manual, it was inconsistent with the terms of the Corrective Action
policy. The Champion s employees, including Dillon, could interpret an implied contract because of
mixed messages they received from the written manual, the disciplinary action policy, the at will
relationship explained, and the oral statements given. 4.

High School Football Essay
High school football over the years has become a huge spectacle lets just talk about the DWF
area or we can even get smaller to make a point if you made a 25 mile radius these local high
school teams play at the Star (seats 12,000), Allen stadium (seats 18,000 cost 60 million), and
McKinney s new stadium (seats 12,000 costs 69.9 million). This is just high schoolfootball these
young kids playing under tremendous pressure from the start. The pressure to play high school
footballis immense, there are so many media outlets for these kids, and they get coverage from
what it seems like all the time during the season, yet this is all just considered a recreational
activity I think it has become more than that now. The pressure for coaches is high as well
dealing with parents, board members, keeping up with classes as a teacher, and oh you also
have to win since football is a performance based business (forewarning this will be said a lot).
For example I will refer to Boobie Miles from Friday Night Lights for one final point. Boobie
knew if he did not make it in football there was nothing special for him. That is why when he got
hurt he still wanted to play, because he knew that s all he had. That is a lot of pressure for a 16
18 year to handle, and if they are not up for it they crack. In college the pressure only increases as
well as the criticism this is where the money part comes into play more so because of the huge
contracts that coaches are getting. If your team is not

Australia Is A Country That Is Diverse, Multicultural And...
Australia is a country that is diverse, multicultural and unique. Our geography and cultural history
are different to anywhere else, which has definitely captured the attention of the rest of the world.
For migrants from diasporic communities, assimilating to the Western identity while trying to
maintain the cultural heritage is not an easy task, especially during the 20th century, where racial
discrimination played a large role in impeding multiculturalism. I believe my childhood
experiences is an example of global framework where race, class and gender are the factors that
made not only me, but mostly every other coloured child living in Australia felt like we were
second class citizens . But because of such upbringings, my familial tie with my external family
became more strong and made me who I am today.
Primary school was not the best experience for me as I felt like I was already different for having
been born overseas, and I wasn t about to accentuate this quirk any further. Like every other child of
migrants from another country, I have felt the culture shock and alienation on the first couple of
months of primary school. This estrangement was especially strong for me because my school
was dominated by white kids. I was often picked on and laughed at because I couldn t speak any
English. During P.E. (Physical Education) classes, I was either singled out or last to be picked
because I wasn t one of them . I hated school. I felt unwanted because of my complexion.

Jeremiah Vs Ezekiel
Among the Old Testament prophets, Jeremiah and Ezekiel are probably the most outstanding ones.
Living in the same historical period, witnessing and being part of tragic, crucial changes in the
Judas history, having a similar background, these two men still differ a lot in their views, lifestyle
and way of prophesying.
Jeremiah was likely born between 650 and 645 B.C. not far from Jerusalem in a family of a
priest and was by being trained for holy service in the priesthood was prepared for his future role.
Jeremiah s contemporary Ezekiel also had the priestly background and was a functioning priest
probably attached to Jerusalem Temple staff, but his prophetic ministry developed in Babylon as
he was exiled several years before Jerusalem fall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It contains a lot of historical and biographical material in addition to the prophet s own words,
and from all this, his personality is revealed. The Book makes a pessimistic impression, as
Jeremiah is persistent in challenging dishonesty and hypocrisy. When being called he is unsure of
his ability to speak in the name of God, but the Lord reassures him, giving the promise of support.
Jeremiah starts prophesying the future fall of Jerusalem and his role after it is to bring his word to
the Jews in exile as well, so here he develops a theology of repentance, exile and restoration. At the
same time, Jeremiah stays in the ruined city, encouraging the new ruler and the people, explaining
what happened and providing the directions for further actions. The final chapters mostly describe
God s judgements for other nations and the prediction of punishment for

Upcomng Advances in 3D Printing
Introduction [271]
3D printing is a means of revolutionising almost any and all aspects of life. The potential to
bringing into the physical world anything that can be conceived in the mind (and created on a
computer) brings a myriad of variety ; expanding markets and capabilities, whether new or
improving products and processes that are already in practice. 3D printers are falling in price as the
technology improves and the want for them increases making the ability to create anything
domestically more practical , this would allow for an influx of material that would be hard to
control or monitor, this can include guns, weapons and equipment for drugs manufacture along
with the mundane domestic items like faucets, plugs or pots. Such a possibility would involve the
morals of the manufacturer and the ethics of the wider collective that have an input on the
advancements, though there are other limitations that play a part in the progression of 3D printing
that are independent of ethics. As the technology and concept has the potential to create anything, it
doesn t not yet have the capability to do so therefore the anticipation of the possibilities is the only
preparation the 3D printing industry can do, as a result I shall conduct an investigation looking at
the extent of ethical and moral influences as well as physical and scientific limitations and how
they could limit any potential advancements, in accordance with the resulting benefits from some
upcoming advancements in

Nonprofit Vs. Non-Profit Research
In higher education, institution carry themselves differently depending on the mission and if they
are for profit. The difference between for profit and nonprofit is that for profit institutions tend to be
concerned with making a profit even though it might not be for the best interests of their students,
nonprofit institutions are legally bound to put their profit back into the institution. Some in the for
profit sector have been shifting from being for profit to nonprofit. Some institutions are either
buying out the for profit institutions or converting to nonprofit. Purdue University is planning to
acquire Kaplan University. The reasoning behind this acquisition is Purdue University plans to use

Colleges and universities should be concerned with education the whole student so that when a
student completes their major that they can be critical think and analyze themselves, their chosen
profession, and lives. Nonprofit institutions to run efficiently must consider profits but, for the
right reasons. Big time sports programs are a perfect example. Some college that have big time
sports programs are concern mostly if their student athletes are eligible so that they can sell tickets
and merchandise for a profit. This works for the short term goals of revenue but, neglects that if the
student was educated and prepare for life that those would actually give back more money based
off their positive experience they had while attending the college, in hopes that other future students
could have a similar experience. This why higher education should be nonprofit because learning
and discovering should be about profit, rather developing the whole person so that they can
contribute to the world in a positive

This device is the setting in which this whole story takes place in. The setting so important to
the theme because of the time period at which it, the narrative, takes place in. The 1800s women
were not taken seriously as men of the time. This also goes for treating women s ailments as
well. Though peopled did try their best to take care for them, there was always someone who
would say that they were over nervous or just too sensitive. An example of this is when Jane
tells John that she didn t feel much better, and to that John replied Bless her little heart! he said
with a big hug, she ll be as sick as she pleases (476). John obviously does not take what his own
wife and patient says to heart, and brushes off what she says. Another reason the setting of this is
important, is due to that times modern medical practices and prescriptions. Janes treatment for her

The Redistricting And Reappointment Process
To know rather state legislatures should continue to have responsibility of the redistricting and
reappointment process, we must first know how and what it means to redistrict and reappoint. Well,
Redistricting and Gerrymandering they are basically the same. Gerrymandering is simply
attempting to find a political advantage in redistricting. Also it is very often the case that
redistricting is sought for political advantage. This takes place by constitution at least every decade
in most typical democractic systems using similar electoral systems to prevent the unsuitable
distributing of representatives to a legislative body. But there is an alteration among redistricting
and reapportionment. Redistricting refers to the actual or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Redistricting can be used to favor certain parties; for example, districts can be drawn to include
areas with larger numbers of Democrats or Republicans, as long as the population numbers remain
consistent. Even when the population is divided equally, drawing the lines one way can reward
Democrats and punish Republicans. But, some line drawing can protect incumbents, they will face
a potent challenger, either from their own party or the opposite party. Consequently, redistricting
has a direct bearing on what matters a legislature chooses to tackle, and which to ignore (Brennen).
The People should understand how their district is drawn and whether they will have a fair chance
to elect a candidate of their choice. A good redistricting process would benefit the public and help
secure a significant representation. Rather than gathering the lawful obligation that all votes must
count equally. Many states consider drawing their districts because of cultural, geographic, social,
economic, and racial concerns. This is far deeper than a Democrat or Republican. A decent
redistricting method allows societies to give input and ask questions. This involvement is vital,
because it makes the communities classy districts. Nearly every other democracy in the world
utilize their districts to elect their legislatures. While not

Music has existed as a concept ever since the conception of the human race. The value of music
has yet to be determined, as coming down to a precise conclusion on the impact music has had on
the course of history will force humanity to confront the essence of humanity itself. Bob Dylan is
an impeccable example of a prime character whose niche was the act of validating the human
experience because many of his musicpieces fixated on beat culture. Bob Dylanis considered one of
the most influential artists in American society. Dylan contended that his politics were an essential
element of his songs and that the social issues he chose to address were much more important than
the music he wrote, one of his most prominent pieces, A Hard Rain s Gonna Fall was influenced by

allocation rates to make them more efficient. Second, policy makers could change allocations to
reflect more accurate precipitation rates along with being more efficient. Third, a market based
system could be implemented allowing for tradeable water rights much like the market system in
Australia. All of these policy options would solve the inefficiencies in the current allocation rates.
They would not solve the supply and demandcomplications due to the ongoing drought or growing
populations. The first option would simply change the allocation of water making it more efficient
and removing any potential deadweight loss that may otherwise exist. The second option would
merely make allocation rates more efficient by basing them off of more accurate precipitation
amounts. The third, would make it easier for water rights to be traded, leading to a more efficient
outcome through trading rather than mandating consumption amounts.
Method
To start with the first policy option an effort must take place to test the efficiency of current
allocation rates. In an attempt to do so, a simple model will be used to determine what an
efficient allocation would be. To further simplify the model, it will consist of only Upper and
Lower basins, averaging statistics taken from the states located within each basin. This simple
model will allow variables to be changed to help identify how they interact with the efficient
allocation of water. To perform this model, it is necessary to have a demand

Nigeria, like many other African countries, was created from a multi ethnic, socially and culturally
diverse people, situated between the Equator and the tropic of cancer, its climate and vegetation can
afford the growth of many tropical commodities such as cocoa, groundnuts, palm produce and
rubber. Starting from a low technological base after political independence in 1960, the country
embarked on the arduous task of building a state with one identity by integrating the different
ethnicities and transforming the barter economy into financial exchange economy. The country

Fakiyesi, O.M. in his paper also said that the poor in Nigeria have limited access to savings and
credit facilities, good roads, pipe borne water, innovative technology and low output markets. They
are predominantly in subsistence agriculture and in petty trading, utilising traditional input. This is
why the role of the capital market as agent of growth and development is very important, thus this
role has been subject of concern and has drawn comments from different fora. It is under this
background this study was proposed, to further clarify the symbiotic relationship between the
capital market and economic development.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Economic advancement and allocation of the aggregate investment in an economy for production
of goods and services are too prominent factors in our national development. The importance of
capital market can be ascertained from the increasing emphasis and recognition accorded to
investment as veritable instruments of development by policy makers in Nigeria and the world over.
Capital mobilisation and allocation are very essential if the regular features of poor infrastructural
facilities (i.e. bad roads/poor road networks, lack of electricity, water, indecent accommodation,
inadequate educational institutions, lack of health centres and poor

For mobility, private cars can, most probably, help to reach where public transportation is not
available. What s more, it s more comfortable in a private car than in a bus, because you don t have
to tolerate the irritation caused by the bad smell or the confined space, especially at peak hours.
Superior as the above mentioned points are, nevertheless, public transportation also has attractions
of its own. Public transportation is much more environmental friendly compared to private cars, it
doesn t produce that much exhaust gas. Also, undoubtedly, you won t be frustratingly confronted
with the petroleum price hovering at a high level, the heavy tax and the auto insurance. Moreover,
public transportation makes great contribution to a lower rate of accidents than private cars, so why
not choose it? Here is the website http://www.rtcsnv.com/transit/fare information/ where provide

What Role Did Mnemosyne Play In Greek Mythology
The people of Greece did not know how to explain emotions or events that happened. Greek
Mythology helped explain these things. A more specific myth, is about the person who controls
your memories. This Titaness is named Mnemosyne. She is known for her family, and her impact
on Greek Mythology (Hamilton 37).
Mnemosyne s family is very unique. Her parents are Ouranos and Gaea. Ouranos represents the
heavens where as Gae is the representative of the Earth. Mnemosyne had had nine daughters with
Zeus, the god of gods. Her daughters are known as The Muses ( Mnemosyne ). They are in many
myths and played major roles in them. Mnemosyne has 11 other siblings. Her siblings are Oceanus,

They represent what they do or based on their personalities. This can put an impact in other myths
or in the Greece we know today. For instance, Mnemosyne is the titaness of memory and the
inventor of words. She is the reason why you can remember or forget events. She mostly
represents why you remember things. Which is what influenced a myth that had to do with the
rivers in the underworld. Before the souls of the dead died, they were told to drink from a river
called the Mnemosyne river ( Mnemosyne in Greek Mythology ). This allowed them to remember
their past lives, depending on what they did they could die happy or die with quilt. Another myth
is about how kings and poets were inspired by her and her daughters. This caused them to use
sophisticated speeches and powerful words. If it weren t for her, the people of Greece would be

1 components of an information system:
Information System is a complete set of software and hardware, data, people, and procedures, and

of information systems and each component has its strength and weakness points, and it has its
properties and its uses. And also each component of Information System has its own security

C Data:
Data is the most important thing owned by the organization and it is the main target and objective
of deliberate attacks. Database management systems are the best way to protect the data and
applications from an outsider attack if they develop and implement it properly.
D People:
In order to generate or operate any system the qualify people necessarily appear. Often the most
over looked element of the information system is the people, probably the component that most
influence the success or failure of information systems.
E Procedures:
Procedures are another important component of information system. Procedures are responsible

many of these of the types of English vary as much as American and British English, it is still
understood around the world. Without there being English many of the Presidents, dictators,
tyrants, and terrorist couldn t understand each other. At all of their meeting there would have to
be someone that spoke all of the languages that the members of the meeting spoke, or several
translators which would make the it even more difficult. Also, with all the types of ethnic
groups that are in America, there was to be one common language that everybody can
understand. If America didn t speak English, everybody in America, and around the world,
would have to find one common language for the entire world to learn to speak. English was
merely the easiest for everybody to pick up. English can be traced back as far as the early 1100 s
B.C. The Anglo Saxons in England spread their language as many different enemies tried to take
over England, but failed. They would force their prisoners to learn their language, and inter grade
themselves into society. The language grew even more steadily as the criminals of England were
being sailed all the way around the world to Australia. The criminals would be dropped off there

Genetic Causes
Genetic Causes
A person s genetic structure, passed on from their parents, is responsible for both their physical and
behavioral characteristics. People who have inherited genes responsible for alcoholism from their
parents will automatically be prone to addiction. There is not one single gene that passes alcoholism
down through one s children. Identifying each specific gene involved in alcoholism is almost
impossible, instead, studies have shown that certain gene combinations have a strong relationship
with alcoholic disorders. However, some studies have shown that certain combinations of different
genes can create a relationship with alcohol addiction.
Alcoholism is a medical diagnosis. As such it does not apply merely to heavy drinking, or merely
to getting into trouble because of drinking, or getting drunk a specified number of times. The
diagnosis of alcoholism applies only to those who manifest the symptoms of addiction. (Keller
1982). Some behavioral genes can also be passed down from one s parents. Those genes could
influence a propensity for alcoholism in an individual. Mental and behavioral illnesses include
some like depression and schizophrenia. The latter illness is more common in people that have a
familial history that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A stressful workload or workplace environment can lead to the likeliness of a person to drink
heavily. Stressful relationships with people one encounters regularly such as family members

abusive person in one s life can cause high stress levels, perhaps only remediated by a drink of
alcohol. For example, having the occupation of a doctor or perhaps a nurse. Those jobs take a lot
of time and energy and return the person with an unimaginable load of stress. The person may feel
they deserve to drink or need to drink. This can therefore lead to uncontrolled use of a

Second Paper #4 (Democracy)
A Proposition To Abolish Democracy
In the modern west, democracy is generally conceived as the most free regime. Democracy is
uniquely characterized by majority rule. This gives its citizens the privilege to vote, overturn, and
motion, with the purpose of best representing the desires of the population. Not only do societies
strive for democracy to gain political freedom, but also personal freedom. Traditionally, we equate
government intervention and regulation with harsh restrictions that devitalize our personal
freedom, however, according to Socrates; regulation is necessary in order to experience genuine
freedom . In the Republic, Socrates discusses his tripartite regime in which promotes optimal
justice and happiness for its citizens. However, if we fully accept Socrates republic, this does not
necessarily mean we have to reject democracy entirely. This idea will be furthered explored
throughout the entirety of this essay. While Socrates describes democracy as the fairest regime, he
refutes this claim by exposing the disastrous effect lack of structure has in a democracy, producing
only spurious pleasures and, therefore, failing to achieve Socrates s justice, (demonstrated in his
republic) which produces genuine pleasures that greatly benefit the individual and the city.
Socrates uses a democratic society as a foundation to build his republic. Socrates says,

The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music Essay
The Impact of Negro Spirituals on Today s Music
I believe that it would be difficult for someone to make the argument that Negro spirituals have not
been influential in the field of music, much less the realm of gospel music today. However, church
members often do not make the time to reflect on the heritage of a hymn or song to realize the
meaning that the particular piece has carried with it through the decades, even centuries. With this
in mind, I am going to look at the history of the Negro spiritual and then at specific hymns in the
1991 Baptist Hymnal, published by Convention Press, to see just what impact the Negro spiritual
has had on today s church music. I believe that we will find that these songs have had a ... Show

At first, however, slaves were not using their music to glorify the God worshipped by their
masters. Obviously, they had brought their religion with them, one considered pagan and
inappropriate by Christians in the American colonies. Christian missionaries were very
disapproving regarding the religious practices of the slaves, and they began to verbalize their
disapproval and work to convert the new African slaves. Seventeenth century author Morgan
Godwin describes their religious practices thus: . . . nothing is more barbarous, and contrary to
Christianity, than their . . . Idolatrous Dances, and Revels; in which they usually spend the Sunday
. . . And here, that I may not be thought too rashly to impute Idolatry to their Dances, my
Conjecture is raised upon this ground . . . for that they use their Dances as a means to procure
Rain: Some of them having been known to beg this Liberty upon the Week Days, in order thereunto

practices of their slaves; however, it would not be long before the masters began to insist that their
slaves practice their religion, Christianity.
I have found very little regarding the reception of the Africans to Christianity; nevertheless, they
were converted, and their music changed to

Virgil Portrays The Main Female Characters Of The Aeneid
Virgil portrays the main female characters of the Aeneid as stubborn, selfish individuals who
manipulate those around them to accomplish their goals. As seen throughout the first six books of
the poem, Juno acts against Aeneas because he is destined to found Rome and destroy Carthage a
city dear to her heart. Juno also disrupts the order in the mortal world because she is still hurt
about the time when Paris, a Trojan male, does not recognize her as the most gorgeous woman on
earth. Virgilalso portrays Venus as obstructive and self centered because her goal is to ensure that
somebody from her lineage founds Rome so that she can receive worship for such accomplishment.
Due to this behavior, one can argue that the women of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Juno s action is a clear obstruction to the human world, but more importantly to the task that Aeneas
is to undertake, and thus, to politics . Virgil s depiction of women is not only that they act on
selfish desires, but also that they make life unnecessarily complicated overall. Before Juno
convinces Aeolus to summon the winds of destruction, Aeneas has a clear path to Italy;
however, due to Juno, he is forced off his path, and the founding of Rome is in jeopardy. The
other important female figure Venus, the goddess of love attempts to cover up her selfish
desires when she pretends to worry about Aeneas safety and well being when all she desires is
for someone from her lineage to found Rome so that she can get praise. This is depicted when
Jupiter tells Venus, My Cytherea, that s enough of fear; your children s fate is firm; you ll
surely see the walls I promised you, Lavinium s city; and you shall carry your great son, Aeneas,
high as heaven s stars (Virgil 1: 358 362). Venus is so obsessed with making sure Aeneas arrives
in Italy safely so that he can found Rome that she obstructs the order in the human world by making
Queen Dido fall in love with Aeneas. This is evident when Virgil reveals Venus s plan: ... Cupid,
changed in form and feature... inflame the queen to madness and insinuate a fire in Dido s very

How Does Shakespeare Make Macbeth A Tragic Play
Shakespeare manage to make records of the play Macbeth about two hundred years ago with a
solid tipped feather pen. Yet, his work has been remarkably blasted out of the magnitude of classic
drama. Was it a Tragedy or not? The only one who can truly answer this question is Shakespeare
himself. There are many scenes that take place in the play of Macbeth, which verifies that this is a
tragic play. There are a plethora amounts of murders of a large number of innocent people. one of
the murders are of King Duncan, who is killed by Macbeth. The second one is the murder of
Banquo, which Macbeth tricked. The third one is the murder of Macduff s wife and son, which
Macbeth also tricked. These senseless killings are what make Macbeth a tragic play. The first
murder was King Duncan. Duncan was a man of respect. Everyone in Scotland respected him. He
was an amazing leader and father to his children and Macbeth. Duncan had no enemies in his
kingdom. One of the reasons that Macbeth killed King Duncan was because he was impatient and
selfish and wanted to be above everyone in the kingdom. Macbeth wanted to be in charge of
everything that was happening in Scotland. Macbeth killed Duncan and his two royal guards with a
dagger and stabbed them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Macduff knew that King Duncan was not killed by his loyal, royal guards but was killed by the

that he was a threat and wanted to start a battle knowing that he would win because of what the

Genetic Expression In Gene Expression
In gene expression DNA, the blueprint of life is transcribed into RNA, a nucleic acid that acts as a
messenger carrying instructions that control the synthesis of proteins. Gene expression is vital to
determining cell functions and exactly how much protein should be produced by the cell. The
process in which the end proteins are modified can also be manipulated by researchers. The types of
cells which are typically handled in laboratories include prokaryotes. Escherichia coli is a bacteria
found in the human digestive system, preventing other pathogens from residing. Certain E. coli

gastrointestinal infections. Ampicillin is an antibiotic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this study, plasmids with ampicillin resistance (pAMP) known as pUC18, were manipulated
due to their stability in extreme environments. The pUC18 plasmid pAMP gene codes for the
production of beta lactamase, an enzyme utilized in the breakdown of ampicillin. Once E. coli
obtains this gene, it is able to survive in an environment that is ampicillin rich. Lux plasmids were
the second type used to provide bioluminescence in the cultures of E. coli grown. The lux plasmid
contains genetic material which codes for luciferase, an enzyme which catalyzes bioluminescence,
a light emitting reaction. This is considered the marker where transformation efficiency can be
analyzed through the light emissions.
Several techniques were implemented in this study to improve E. coli bacterias competency, the
ability for a cell to uptake genetic material. These procedures were necessary considering the
bacteria does not allow for transformation so efficiently in natural circumstances. Since it lacks the
ability to do so, the uptake of material would be limited despite the preventative measures taken. To
neutralize the negatively charged DNA in E. coli, the use of CaCl2 (sodium chloride), a positively
charged solution, dissociates the calcium from chloride, which enters the cells and alters the
charge. This process is known as electroporation. This causes the bacteria cells to swell and the
calcium molecules help adjust the cell membrane to become

The Pursuit of a Theory of Everything
A belief in the unifying principles that underlie all natural phenomena was first articulated by
Aristotle, who proposed all matter stems from the four elements of nature: earth, air, fire, and
water (Duft). The search for such principles has since evolved considerably, yet the firmly rooted
interest in a fundamental unification persists. Unification is defined as attempts to explain several
principles according to one definition or equation. This process occurs in all areas of science, from
biology to cosmology, and often reduces the complexity of calculations and leads to new
predictions regarding related phenomena. In physics, the unification of seemingly unrelated
concepts has led to a number of pivotal discoveries. Several physicists even posit that one ultimate
Theory of Everything exists to explain the nature and behavior of all matter and energy in existence
(Hawking and Mlodinow). This notion has intrigued scientists and philosophers for decades, though
the final theory, should one exist, has yet to be determined. Unification begins by connecting
complementary ideas into more general frameworks and serves an important role in explaining
observations. More rigorously, the concept of unification can be defined as the reduction many
related concepts to form a simple, integrated theory (Salmon). The purpose of unification is to
foster a cohesive understanding of the universe. Bartelborth explains that, we seek order and
structure in our world and make sense of

Alexander II And Alexander The Great
A tactician is defined as someone who is good at planning tactics; Philip II and Alexander the
Great would not fall under this name because they were not good at planning tactics, they were
disputed to be the best at planning them. Alexander III the Great was born in 356 BC in the capital
of Macedonia; Pella. Growing up Alexander watched his father turn Macedoniainto a great military
power . Philip II was the first to create an unstoppable Macedonian army and his son Alexander
would further expand the efficiency and power of such army. In the spring of 336 BC a
Macedonian noble named Pausanias assassinated Philip II . With Philip s death came many new
changes to the empires known at that time. Alexander III as Philip s only successor became king
at the age of twenty and Philip s dream of conquering the Persian Empire was now on the
shoulders of Alexander . This would be the driving force for the fall of the Persian Empire and
the huge expansion of the Macedonian Empire. Within 13 years Alexander created the largest
empire of his time; this was done by, being a military genius that used lateral thinking to defeat
often larger and superior forces, a disciplined army created by his father Philip II and the spread of
increased trade routes along with the acceptance of Greek civilization and ideas.
Philip II ascended the throne in what was one of the most difficult times of Macedonia. As King,

very lonely and sad. This makes me think she has no one to talk to and that her father is just
there. Why doesn t she count her father as family? The image makes it look like her father is not

Predictive Analysis is an integral part of any business with its major role in all dimensions of the
business decision making processes. Prediction helps in understanding the customer better and
managing customer relationships in an efficient way. Understanding the customer is the most
important part of the business process as it impacts the potential growth in business and the success
of any business decision, be it a drastic or a minor change.

could help us attract customers who are similar to the existing high value customers, and so on.
A few applications of Predictive Models:
The most important customer analytic areas and the state of the art methodologies are as follows.
(1)Customer attrition analysis
Predicting customer attrition is one of the major areas in customer analytics. Businesses have the
need to continuously monitor and understand customer behavior and their expectations, in order to
have an edge over the competitors. It makes no practical sense to not know whether the customers
are staying with the company or do they have a risk of attrition, due to various controllable and
uncontrollable factors. It is extremely essential for any business to retain the existing customers and
resolving any pressing issues in a timely manner. Retaining a customer is as important, if not more,
as attracting new customers.

This is performed to predict the attrition risk for different customers/customer segments. The
customers with high risk of attrition are identified using various factors like their

Victor Frankenstein Knowledge Analysis
It is a man s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways (Buddha). Frankenstein,

spends years creating a creature from dead bodies. Upon the completion of his project, he
immediately abandons the creature leaving him to discover humanity on his own. In Mary Shelley

knowledge to gain power; A new species would bless me as it s creator and source; many happy
and excellent natures would owe their being to me (Shelley 49). Additionally, Victor uses his
knowledge to bring him closer becoming omnipotent. He covets power. He wants to elevate
himself. Frankenstein s longing for power reaches a point of extreme unhealthiness. He wants to be

Introduction
In 2000, the Board of Ursinus College, raised its tuition from $19,331 to $23,460. This turned out
to be a 17.6% increase. Surprisingly, the tuition increase proved to be a positive change for Ursinus
College. The college received more than 200 applicants than its previous year (Brickley, Smith and
Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Other regional institutions such as University of Notre Dame, Bryn
Mawr College and Rice University also experienced a similar trend once they increased their tuition
rates (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). The president of Ursinus College deduced
that the tuition increase affected enrollment rate (increased enrollment). She simply stated that
people don t want cheap (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Today, Susan Hansen,
Admissions Director of East Liberal Arts College, wishes to increase tuition and reduce financial

increasing an effective tuition from $15,000 to $25,000 (Brickley et al., 2009). She also projects

Hamlet Reflection Essay
To become familiar with this play, I would first, before anything else, look up it s history . I
would research William Shakespeare (the author of Hamlet), and I would then read the general
information and expand from there. I would consider general information things like, the time
period it is set in, where the story takes place, etc. To expand on those things, I would do research
on that time period and setting and get to know the culture and traditions they had. After, I
would read the play and analyze the purpose and intended audience because I greatly feel that
those tow things impact the contest immensely. To get a starting idea on props, set design,
costumes, etc. I would hold out more research with a concentration on the things listed before to
make sure everything is historically accurate. (Because we all know there will be some history
major in the audience shaking their head when they see something just a little bit off.) After I
feel that I have a strong grasp on the play and it s history, I would pick out a few more things.
For example, the time that Shakespeare writes the play in. I also would try to identify the
pathos and ethos characteristics in the play. Once all of that was done and I felt like an expert
on the show and on Shakespeare and I had a few rough draft ideas on technical and production
side of things, I would YouTube other performances of it to see other people s creative views on it

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Compulsory License
A compulsory license is an authorization given by a national authority granted without the
permission of the patent/IPR holder. Historically speaking, a compulsory license can be invoked on
one of the various grounds, and should be issued on a case by case basis. Using compulsory license
is one of the flexibilities retained under TRIPS, and hence permitting Member States to determine
the appropriate circumstances within certain limits. Particularly, compulsory licensing provisions in
India have been under criticism regarding compliance with international treaties. The Indian Patent
Act does not confine the grounds to public health needs only. The grounds and types of compulsory

such as increasing foreign direct investment (FDI) or reverse engineering. The positive relationship
between FDI and IPR protection has long been argued, while the latitude for competitors to reverse
engineer is decreasing owing to the higher harmonization pressure from IPR maximalist countries.
Conversely, the quality of human resources and business environmental soundness maybe has more
influence on FDI. Professor Ragavan points out with discernment that countries having increasing
FDI are actually the countries recognized to have disreputable fame in IPR protection once before,

goosebumps all over it. I drew my sword, It shining in the slim sparkle of the sun s, tiny rays. We
continued on ready to attack. I have a feeling we are being followed . I said as sweat dripped on my
arm. Me too , said xSolqn_. We checked as someone sprinted past us. Then we saw 2 zombies, 2
skeletons and a spider come out of the pitch black trees. Then, a person came out of the shadows.
It was the evil MG. I took my sword and yelled, TAKE THAT ! I whacked him again and again. He
easily was gone and he dropped a second key. We now have 2 keys , said xSolqn_. We then
continued down the trail until we found a bright light. It was the end of the forest.

Patriotism In America
Patriotism. How could you even begin to define it? Is it the fireworks on the Fourth of July? Is it
the glory of watching our national team win a medal in the Olympics? Is it an immigrant finally
being able to call America their home? Patriotism is defined as the attachment or sense of pride
that one feels about what they would decide as their homeland. According to many Americans, it s
a feeling we all share as citizens. Everyone has their own definition of what that pride or attachment
consists of. We live within a democratic government; created for the people, by the people. Most
would expect our type of government and patriotismto come hand in hand. Our people must feel a
deep pride for their country when they are the ones who elect who should represent them to the
world, right? We choose who we think would be best at running our country for 4 years until we
have the chance to keep the same person or elect someone else. The people of America are the
reason those politicians have power; the people of America can be the ones who take it from them.
We attempt to choose the best because of our pride in our country and the hope to make or keep it
great. There are many instances, however, that would conflict with this thought of being so loyal to
our own government officials.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many instances, especially recently, where citizens have argued against what the
government has proposed and fought over what the our founding fathers would have truly wanted
for America. The same people who voted for our government officials are now disagreeing with
them. They prefer the ideals that our country was founded on; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of
Happiness as is stated in our constitution. These citizens sometimes feel as if their rights are being
attacked because of certain popular beliefs and quickly remind others of how our country is to be

Essay about Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Life in the early 1900 s wasn t easy. Competition for jobs was at an all time high, especially in
New York City. Immigrants were flooding in and needed to find work fast, even if that meant in
the hot, overcrowded conditions of garment factories. Conditions were horrid and disaster was
inevitable, and disaster did strike in March, 1911. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York
set on fire, killing 146 workers. This is an important event in US history because it helped
accomplish the tasks unions and strikes had tried to accomplish years earlier, It improved working
conditions in factories nationwide and set new safety laws and regulations so that nothing as
catastrophic would happen again. The workplace struggles became public after... Show more

Wages were very low for the amount of work people were expected to do. People would only
make anywhere from $1.25 $1.50 for the entire 10 12 hour workday. Not only were these wages
extremely low, but employees often lived in expensive company housing which left barely any
money for the other necessities of life. Nobody was satisfied with the wages during this time
period but another struggle was the long hours. People worked 60 80 hour work weeks in the
hot overcrowded factories, only doing one monotonous job. Lastly, the boss was very distant
from the work crowd and there was little to no contact between the two groups. Also, the
workers were very controlled by the foreman. The doors were locked on all floors to prevent
theft during the day and bathroom breaks would be monitored by a floor manager. Overall,
during the late 1800 s everyone was overworked and underpaid and this led to many troubles as
years went on. Everyone was frustrated with work conditions and this led to the formations of
unions around the country. The Knights of Labor was a very popular union that led the first
major strike in the United States. The year was 1885 and Jay Gould s Missouri Pacific Railroad
was the target. The owner, Jay Gould, had recently cut wages drastically and fired union members.
The Knights led the strike and eventually succeeded to improve wages for the railroad workers.
With this great accomplishment the Knights gained

Antigone Why People Take Action
Why should people take action? In the play Antigone by Sophocles Antigone takes action by
burying her brother which no one was supposed to do. She did it because she felt it was only
right. People should take action whenever they feel ,there are various reasons such as their
feelings emotionally , fairness, the good well being of others, or just whenever they deem
morally correct. There are many reasons why people should take action, for example, for fairness.
Why fairness, well because fairness is everything, a lot wouldn t be right if there were no fairness,
and i feel as if everything is fair it just makes everyone happy. So when it comes down to stepping
up for fairness it plays a big role as far as taking action because you re not... Show more content on

Why, simply because if you feel you are correct about a point you re trying to prove then you
should stand on it and fight for it. For instance in the play Antigone when she was arguing with
creon, basically trying to prove his laws aren t fair. I believe this connects my main point mainly
because she saw something wrong and felt something needed to be said. On top of that, people
need to take action if they feel they are correct because if you see a problem and nothing is said
then stuff may just get worse. Another example would just be continuing off Antigone standing
up to creon, I feel as if the whole situation was demoralizing for the people until Antigone, the one
person who finally decided to say something, even with her life on the line for doing what she
did on the same hand still had plenty of people behind her. This just proves that people should
step up when they feel they are correct because when you step up you then have people to support
you the chances are you are going to win. In the end the whole point of this is to just say if you
think you are correct about something that should be done then stand for it and fight for it and
maybe in the end you may make a

Locke Vs. Locke Essay examples
For many political theorists and thinkers, the ideas of labor and property are central to the
evolution of governments or states, and henceforth, very important aspects of human life. For some
writers, the development of property is a direct result of labor, and government is set up to ensure
the property rights of those who own property. Some view property and labor fundamentally or
naturally connected aspects of human life, while others see it as merely a social convention. Each
thinker also has different opinions about how property is acquired, as well as what the limits to
property acquisition are. While one writer may provide the most fair account of property, another
may provide a more feasible account of property acquisition and... Show more content on

quot; The same law of nature that does by this means give us property, does also bound that
property too. quot; (Locke, 20). According to Locke, there are three limits to how much property
one can acquire. First, deals with taking so many items, that they spoil from being hoarded and
not used. quot;Nothing was made by God for man to spoil or destroy. quot; (Locke, 21). The
second says that one should not be a glutton and leave an abundance for others to take from
when one acquires their property. The third and final limit says that one should only take only
as much as you yourself can use or improve upon. If any of these limits are exceeded, the
productivity of everyone suffers. However, the invention of money, according to Locke, can
trump these three limits. This is because goods will not spoil since they can be sold, and workers
can be hired for wage labor to collect more goods than any one person alone could.
As well as collecting goods and picking fruit, man could also mix his labor with land in order to
claim that land as his property. quot;As much land as a man tills, plants, improves, cultivates, and
can use the product of, so much is his property quot; (Locke, 21). Since mixing labor with nature is
how Locke perceives the acquisition of property, it follows then that labor and property are
fundamentally and naturally connected to the aspects of human life. quot;Locke himself states

Being An Idiot
Serena muttered a few inaudible words before nodding Okay, if you want Holby to lose its best
Consultant, then so be it, as she stood up to leave Ric grasped her hand only for her to pull away
and glare. This act of heroism had annoyed her greatly that she almost felt he should take the wrap
for being an idiot; the other part of her was beyond angry that arguing would have seemed
pointless. Furthermore, she felt it was something they would have to discuss in private and when
they did row, they both could go to town and really rock the boat.
With Serena out of sight, Ric took a seat, he hoped in doing this, things would not be so severe
for him; he hoped the old boys network would kick in and save him. He also knew he would be
given a lessened death sentence and run of embarrassment than Serena would have faced.
Clasping his hands together, Ric sighed. My personal relationship with Serena aside, I cannot let
her take the blame for an incident that she sought little part in. Her role today has been nothing but
her professional best and her willingness to take the blame is a highly commendable act. We all
know how much her carer means to her

Throughout the play The Tempest there is a relationship that pits master and slave in a harmony
that benefits both parties. Though it may sound strange, these slaves sometimes have a goal or

Master Slave, Slave Master relationship is a balance of expectation and fear by the slaves to the
master; and a perceived since of power by that of the master over the slaves.

INTJ vs ESFP
In order to understand how to relate to the emotions of others, one must first be aware of his or
herself, be able to manage how they feel, be familiar with how others think in order to master the
relationship. Having emotional intelligence makes it possible to be successful in business,
personal life, and in school. There are four preferences when it comes to interaction and these four
preferences make up 16 personality types. I will compare and contrast my personality type with the

The Intuitive Perfectionist
A psychiatrist and psychotherapist by the name of Carl Jung[1] said that people experience the
world through four psychological functions: sensation, intuition, feeling and thinking. One function
being dominant for a person s entire life. Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs
Myers wrote a book making it easier to understand how these four functions make up one s
personality. They came up with 16 variations of the four functions which indicated two were
preferred, one dominant and the other tertiary. The way they were able to analyze this information
to make it more understandable was through the results of a test called The Myers Briggs Type
Indicator ( MBTI)[1].
My MBTI
After taking the MBTI [2] I learned that I had an Executive type A personality with the ESTJ A

Alvin Slippers During The 12th Century
Slippers are a very universal item as every culture has been found to have worn them. They are
defined as any light, low cut shoe into which the foot may be easily slipped, for casual wear in
the home, for dancing, etc. Slippers are said to be invented by a man named Alvin Slipper
during the 12th Century. During this time, a Southern Song Dynasty Officer was the first to
reference the slipper. Originally, slippers were said to be from the East. Here, slippers were used
for comfort and easy accessibility as they were easy to slip on and off. During this time, they
would slip this on and off before stepping on expensive Persian carpets. On the other hand, in the
West, the earliest date of a slipper being recorded was in the year 1478. Some cultures

A Short Story Of Eric Holt s Safe House
No one spoke a word to anyone, yet without a doubt those three knew fully what was expected of
them. When they finally arrived at Holt s safehouse, the place in question was a reasonably
medium sized house that had two floors; any other details were rendered obscured by the darkness
of a humid summer night. Once the car was parked at the curbside, almost blocking off the
driveway, Kirchner, Gerber and Sapienti got out of the car wielding a Remnant made Gustloff
Volkssturmgewehr with silencers. Together, they climbed over the fence to reach the backyard,
from which the three then stealthily snuck to the backdoor of the safehouse. Once there, Fabian
Kirchner took the responsibility of unlocking the backdoor using a lock pickingset.

Observation of Sub-Atomic Particles
1.A) Part of the wave might penetrate it or it might not. This would be random and would depend
on the energy of the electron attempting to penetrate.
B) The pattern that initially seemed random would begin to acquire uniformity. Half of the
electrons would transmit and half would reflect and go back. Each of the electrons that transmitted
would carry its complete charge and mass.
C) One cannot say where the electron really is, whether a given electron will transmit or reflect. It
is only possible to state the probability of electrons actions. For example, one may say that the
probability is one in five that the electron will transmit and four out of five that it will be reflected
back.
D) Some physicists find the result difficult to accept because they perceive it as what Einstein
called God playing dice with the universe . The unpredictability inherent with this result and the
fact that it seems to contradict both Newtonian physics as well as reality, make it a less than ideal
paradigm for many physicists.
E) David Hume would have vehemently objected to my answer on part C). Hume s word view was
largely based on the belief that, to understand events in the universe, we must look to their cause.
This casual link is, therefore, disrupted under the conditions witnessed in the aforementioned
experiment, as we can see a cause but the result side of the chain is unknown.

intersex individuals face in the society. These individuals are often ignored or forced to live their

  • 2. Tick Tick Tock Analysis Tick Tock Tick Tock. The time goes by, every second intensifies the fear. A fear of being sent to the gas chamber, being starved to death, or being sent to concentration camps. Other Jews worst nightmare had come true as they were being squeezed between over 100 others in one cattle cart, on their death ride to the heavens. It was like playing cops and robbers, but to the extreme. A genocide in which six million European Jewswere killed by Adolf Hitlers Nazi Germany, and the World War II collaborators with the Nazis. This is the Holocaust. One of the darkest times in history, where the diversity of religion resulted in annihilation. Every Jew that the Nazis found were sent to concentration camps, starved to death and much more. While many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adolfo Kaminsky saved almost 10,000 children by creating counterfeits of legal documents through a Jewish resistance network he was recruited to in France. While all the Jews were in danger of being captured, those who assisted them were too. Coming from a background of Russian Jews and being born in Argentina, he was also part of the misery. He along with millions of Jews were sent to concentration camps, however Adolfo and his family were rescued, due to the papers that they had from Argentina. Each of their passports came from Argentina, resulting in the government fighting for their protection. They were held hostage in a concentration camp for months, but due to these papers they were allowed to leave, while others walked towards their death. Being grateful for the blessings that god has given to his family, he became a god for the other Jewish children. His selfless acts rescued thousands of Jews from their despair, however he was dissatisfied with the fact that he did not have the ability to help any more Jewish children. Kaminsky once said The smallest error and you send someone to prison or death, he told me. It s a great responsibility. It s heavy. It s not at all a pleasure. Years later he s still haunted by the work, explaining: I think mostly of the people that I couldn t save. Although it was strenuous and enervating, the relieved faces of the ... • 3. Dillon V. Jogbra Employers that do not follow their disciplinary policies, and related procedures, may get sued for breach of contract or wrongful discharge. Courts have ruled that disciplinary policies can be contracts, even when employers include at will statements in them, if the policies contain provisions promising that the employer will follow specific disciplinary procedures. So, in Dillon v. Champion Jogbra, Inc., the Vermont Supreme Court found the disclaimer printed in an employee manual was in conflict with the employer s elaborate discipline and discharge system, which the employer said would be carried out in a fair and consistent manner. The Court ruled that the employer was sending mixed messages to employees about their status. Accordingly,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 733). The implied contract in this case consisted of two points. First, the written statements in the handbook were conflicting with the at will employment relationship and the disclaimer language. Second, the conduct and oral statements from the employer were given that gave the employee reason to believe that her job was safe. The oral statement made by the employer was it will take you four to six months to feel comfortable with [the] position which gave the impression that she would have that time to settle in with the new job. 3. Explain how the employer breached the implied contract. The employer breached the implied oral contract because in less than two months Dillon was called into her supervisor s office and was terminated from that position in which the employer stated that it was not working out. The written contact, according to the Champion Jogbra s policy, was that actions will be carried out in a fair and consistent manner. Concerning the disclaimer at the start of the manual, it was inconsistent with the terms of the Corrective Action policy. The Champion s employees, including Dillon, could interpret an implied contract because of mixed messages they received from the written manual, the disciplinary action policy, the at will relationship explained, and the oral statements given. 4. ... • 4. High School Football Essay High school football over the years has become a huge spectacle lets just talk about the DWF area or we can even get smaller to make a point if you made a 25 mile radius these local high school teams play at the Star (seats 12,000), Allen stadium (seats 18,000 cost 60 million), and McKinney s new stadium (seats 12,000 costs 69.9 million). This is just high schoolfootball these young kids playing under tremendous pressure from the start. The pressure to play high school footballis immense, there are so many media outlets for these kids, and they get coverage from what it seems like all the time during the season, yet this is all just considered a recreational activity I think it has become more than that now. The pressure for coaches is high as well dealing with parents, board members, keeping up with classes as a teacher, and oh you also have to win since football is a performance based business (forewarning this will be said a lot). For example I will refer to Boobie Miles from Friday Night Lights for one final point. Boobie knew if he did not make it in football there was nothing special for him. That is why when he got hurt he still wanted to play, because he knew that s all he had. That is a lot of pressure for a 16 18 year to handle, and if they are not up for it they crack. In college the pressure only increases as well as the criticism this is where the money part comes into play more so because of the huge contracts that coaches are getting. If your team is not ... • 5. Australia Is A Country That Is Diverse, Multicultural And... Australia is a country that is diverse, multicultural and unique. Our geography and cultural history are different to anywhere else, which has definitely captured the attention of the rest of the world. For migrants from diasporic communities, assimilating to the Western identity while trying to maintain the cultural heritage is not an easy task, especially during the 20th century, where racial discrimination played a large role in impeding multiculturalism. I believe my childhood experiences is an example of global framework where race, class and gender are the factors that made not only me, but mostly every other coloured child living in Australia felt like we were second class citizens . But because of such upbringings, my familial tie with my external family became more strong and made me who I am today. Primary school was not the best experience for me as I felt like I was already different for having been born overseas, and I wasn t about to accentuate this quirk any further. Like every other child of migrants from another country, I have felt the culture shock and alienation on the first couple of months of primary school. This estrangement was especially strong for me because my school was dominated by white kids. I was often picked on and laughed at because I couldn t speak any English. During P.E. (Physical Education) classes, I was either singled out or last to be picked because I wasn t one of them . I hated school. I felt unwanted because of my complexion. ... Living in the same historical period, witnessing and being part of tragic, crucial changes in the Judas history, having a similar background, these two men still differ a lot in their views, lifestyle and way of prophesying. Jeremiah was likely born between 650 and 645 B.C. not far from Jerusalem in a family of a priest and was by being trained for holy service in the priesthood was prepared for his future role. Jeremiah s contemporary Ezekiel also had the priestly background and was a functioning priest probably attached to Jerusalem Temple staff, but his prophetic ministry developed in Babylon as he was exiled several years before Jerusalem fall. ... Jeremiah starts prophesying the future fall of Jerusalem and his role after it is to bring his word to the Jews in exile as well, so here he develops a theology of repentance, exile and restoration. • 9. Upcomng Advances in 3D Printing Introduction [271] 3D printing is a means of revolutionising almost any and all aspects of life. The potential to bringing into the physical world anything that can be conceived in the mind (and created on a computer) brings a myriad of variety ; expanding markets and capabilities, whether new or improving products and processes that are already in practice. 3D printers are falling in price as the technology improves and the want for them increases making the ability to create anything domestically more practical , this would allow for an influx of material that would be hard to control or monitor, this can include guns, weapons and equipment for drugs manufacture along with the mundane domestic items like faucets, plugs or pots. Such a possibility would involve the morals of the manufacturer and the ethics of the wider collective that have an input on the advancements, though there are other limitations that play a part in the progression of 3D printing that are independent of ethics. As the technology and concept has the potential to create anything, it doesn t not yet have the capability to do so therefore the anticipation of the possibilities is the only preparation the 3D printing industry can do, as a result I shall conduct an investigation looking at the extent of ethical and moral influences as well as physical and scientific limitations and how they could limit any potential advancements, in accordance with the resulting benefits from some upcoming advancements in ... This works for the short term goals of revenue but, neglects that if the student was educated and prepare for life that those would actually give back more money based off their positive experience they had while attending the college, in hopes that other future students could have a similar experience. The Redistricting And Reappointment Process To know rather state legislatures should continue to have responsibility of the redistricting and reappointment process, we must first know how and what it means to redistrict and reappoint. Well, Redistricting and Gerrymandering they are basically the same. Gerrymandering is simply attempting to find a political advantage in redistricting. Also it is very often the case that redistricting is sought for political advantage. This takes place by constitution at least every decade in most typical democractic systems using similar electoral systems to prevent the unsuitable distributing of representatives to a legislative body. Redistricting can be used to favor certain parties; for example, districts can be drawn to include areas with larger numbers of Democrats or Republicans, as long as the population numbers remain consistent. Even when the population is divided equally, drawing the lines one way can reward Democrats and punish Republicans. But, some line drawing can protect incumbents, they will face a potent challenger, either from their own party or the opposite party. Consequently, redistricting has a direct bearing on what matters a legislature chooses to tackle, and which to ignore (Brennen). The People should understand how their district is drawn and whether they will have a fair chance to elect a candidate of their choice. A good redistricting process would benefit the public and help secure a significant representation. Rather than gathering the lawful obligation that all votes must count equally. Many states consider drawing their districts because of cultural, geographic, social, economic, and racial concerns. This is far deeper than a Democrat or Republican. • 16. Allocation Rates And Its Effects On The Current Allocation... allocation rates to make them more efficient. Second, policy makers could change allocations to reflect more accurate precipitation rates along with being more efficient. Third, a market based system could be implemented allowing for tradeable water rights much like the market system in Australia. All of these policy options would solve the inefficiencies in the current allocation rates. They would not solve the supply and demandcomplications due to the ongoing drought or growing populations. The first option would simply change the allocation of water making it more efficient and removing any potential deadweight loss that may otherwise exist. The second option would merely make allocation rates more efficient by basing them off of more accurate precipitation amounts. The third, would make it easier for water rights to be traded, leading to a more efficient outcome through trading rather than mandating consumption amounts. Method To start with the first policy option an effort must take place to test the efficiency of current allocation rates. In an attempt to do so, a simple model will be used to determine what an efficient allocation would be. To further simplify the model, it will consist of only Upper and Lower basins, averaging statistics taken from the states located within each basin. This simple model will allow variables to be changed to help identify how they interact with the efficient allocation of water. To perform this model, it is necessary to have a demand ... People who have inherited genes responsible for alcoholism from their parents will automatically be prone to addiction. There is not one single gene that passes alcoholism down through one s children. Identifying each specific gene involved in alcoholism is almost impossible, instead, studies have shown that certain gene combinations have a strong relationship with alcoholic disorders. However, some studies have shown that certain combinations of different genes can create a relationship with alcohol addiction. Alcoholism is a medical diagnosis. As such it does not apply merely to heavy drinking, or merely to getting into trouble because of drinking, or getting drunk a specified number of times. The diagnosis of alcoholism applies only to those who manifest the symptoms of addiction. (Keller 1982). Some behavioral genes can also be passed down from one s parents. Democracy is uniquely characterized by majority rule. This gives its citizens the privilege to vote, overturn, and motion, with the purpose of best representing the desires of the population. Not only do societies strive for democracy to gain political freedom, but also personal freedom. Traditionally, we equate government intervention and regulation with harsh restrictions that devitalize our personal freedom, however, according to Socrates; regulation is necessary in order to experience genuine freedom . In the Republic, Socrates discusses his tripartite regime in which promotes optimal justice and happiness for its citizens. However, if we fully accept Socrates republic, this does not necessarily mean we have to reject democracy entirely. This idea will be furthered explored throughout the entirety of this essay. While Socrates describes democracy as the fairest regime, he refutes this claim by exposing the disastrous effect lack of structure has in a democracy, producing only spurious pleasures and, therefore, failing to achieve Socrates s justice, (demonstrated in his republic) which produces genuine pleasures that greatly benefit the individual and the city. Before Juno convinces Aeolus to summon the winds of destruction, Aeneas has a clear path to Italy; however, due to Juno, he is forced off his path, and the founding of Rome is in jeopardy. The other important female figure Venus, the goddess of love attempts to cover up her selfish desires when she pretends to worry about Aeneas safety and well being when all she desires is for someone from her lineage to found Rome so that she can get praise. Once E. coli obtains this gene, it is able to survive in an environment that is ampicillin rich. Lux plasmids were the second type used to provide bioluminescence in the cultures of E. coli grown. The lux plasmid contains genetic material which codes for luciferase, an enzyme which catalyzes bioluminescence, a light emitting reaction. This is considered the marker where transformation efficiency can be analyzed through the light emissions. These procedures were necessary considering the bacteria does not allow for transformation so efficiently in natural circumstances. Since it lacks the ability to do so, the uptake of material would be limited despite the preventative measures taken. The Pursuit of a Theory of Everything A belief in the unifying principles that underlie all natural phenomena was first articulated by Aristotle, who proposed all matter stems from the four elements of nature: earth, air, fire, and water (Duft). The search for such principles has since evolved considerably, yet the firmly rooted interest in a fundamental unification persists. Unification is defined as attempts to explain several principles according to one definition or equation. This process occurs in all areas of science, from biology to cosmology, and often reduces the complexity of calculations and leads to new predictions regarding related phenomena. In physics, the unification of seemingly unrelated concepts has led to a number of pivotal discoveries. Several physicists even posit that one ultimate Theory of Everything exists to explain the nature and behavior of all matter and energy in existence (Hawking and Mlodinow). This notion has intrigued scientists and philosophers for decades, though the final theory, should one exist, has yet to be determined. Unification begins by connecting complementary ideas into more general frameworks and serves an important role in explaining observations. More rigorously, the concept of unification can be defined as the reduction many related concepts to form a simple, integrated theory (Salmon). The purpose of unification is to foster a cohesive understanding of the universe. Bartelborth explains that, we seek order and structure in our world and make sense of ... The Tuition Increase Affected Enrollment Rate Table of Contents Introduction 3 Background 4 Analysis 5 Factors 6 Recommendation 7 Conclusion 8 References 9 Introduction In 2000, the Board of Ursinus College, raised its tuition from $19,331 to $23,460. This turned out to be a 17.6% increase. Surprisingly, the tuition increase proved to be a positive change for Ursinus College. The college received more than 200 applicants than its previous year (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Other regional institutions such as University of Notre Dame, Bryn Mawr College and Rice University also experienced a similar trend once they increased their tuition rates (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). The president of Ursinus College deduced that the tuition increase affected enrollment rate (increased enrollment). She simply stated that people don t want cheap (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Today, Susan Hansen, Admissions Director of East Liberal Arts College, wishes to increase tuition and reduce financial aid available to students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Moreover, she has expressed that increasing tuition and reducing the amount of financial aid will solve the schools financial problems (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). This will be done by increasing an effective tuition from $15,000 to $25,000 (Brickley et al., 2009). I would research William Shakespeare (the author of Hamlet), and I would then read the general information and expand from there. I would consider general information things like, the time period it is set in, where the story takes place, etc. To expand on those things, I would do research on that time period and setting and get to know the culture and traditions they had. After, I would read the play and analyze the purpose and intended audience because I greatly feel that those tow things impact the contest immensely. To get a starting idea on props, set design, costumes, etc. I would hold out more research with a concentration on the things listed before to make sure everything is historically accurate. (Because we all know there will be some history major in the audience shaking their head when they see something just a little bit off.) After I feel that I have a strong grasp on the play and it s history, I would pick out a few more things. For example, the time that Shakespeare writes the play in. The positive relationship between FDI and IPR protection has long been argued, while the latitude for competitors to reverse engineer is decreasing owing to the higher harmonization pressure from IPR maximalist countries. According to many Americans, it s a feeling we all share as citizens. Everyone has their own definition of what that pride or attachment consists of. We live within a democratic government; created for the people, by the people. Most would expect our type of government and patriotismto come hand in hand. Not only were these wages extremely low, but employees often lived in expensive company housing which left barely any money for the other necessities of life. Nobody was satisfied with the wages during this time period but another struggle was the long hours. People worked 60 80 hour work weeks in the hot overcrowded factories, only doing one monotonous job. Lastly, the boss was very distant from the work crowd and there was little to no contact between the two groups. Also, the workers were very controlled by the foreman. For instance in the play Antigone when she was arguing with creon, basically trying to prove his laws aren t fair. I believe this connects my main point mainly because she saw something wrong and felt something needed to be said. On top of that, people need to take action if they feel they are correct because if you see a problem and nothing is said then stuff may just get worse. Some view property and labor fundamentally or naturally connected aspects of human life, while others see it as merely a social convention. According to Locke, there are three limits to how much property one can acquire. First, deals with taking so many items, that they spoil from being hoarded and not used. quot;Nothing was made by God for man to spoil or destroy. quot; (Locke, 21). The second says that one should not be a glutton and leave an abundance for others to take from when one acquires their property. The third and final limit says that one should only take only as much as you yourself can use or improve upon. If any of these limits are exceeded, the productivity of everyone suffers. However, the invention of money, according to Locke, can trump these three limits. This is because goods will not spoil since they can be sold, and workers can be hired for wage labor to collect more goods than any one person alone could. As well as collecting goods and picking fruit, man could also mix his labor with land in order to claim that land as his property. quot;As much land as a man tills, plants, improves, cultivates, and can use the product of, so much is his property quot; (Locke, 21).
