Benefits of Implementing Company Health Fitness Programs...
Workplace Benefits of Health and Fitness Programs
Furthermore, fitness programs can benefit companies far beyond a spending stand point. There are
many benefits of incorporating fitness into your daily routine, and some people are unaware of the
impact it can have on every aspect of their life. Making health and fitness a priority in your life can
result in dramatic change. Creating a healthy lifestyle through fitness and nutrition programs and
then following through on those programs with self assessment practices and goal setting
techniques can significantly decrease self defeating behaviors not only in the workplace, but in
day to day life as well. There are many different ways to get involved in fitness, and the benefits

In addition, Memphis is among one of the most overweight cities in America, making it crucial
that we emphasize health and fitness in our businesses locally (Men s Fitness, 2014). Being
overweight causes a number of health issues such as high cholesterol, heart disease, and
diabetes. This can cause employees to miss work, drive up health care costs, and not be as
productive when they are at work. In addition, health and fitness programs can help employees
who already have health problems return to work sooner. For example, employees who have been
diagnosed with heart disease and who participate in an exercise program have returned to work
much quicker, and in addition, the death rate has also been cut down twenty to twenty five percent
when employees engage in fitness routines (Meyers, 2003). Therefore, beginning a fitness program
can not only significantly decrease the chances of someone obtaining one of these diseases, but can
also decrease the amount of work they may miss due to these illnesses; henceforth, increasing the
overall health of the workplace, productivity, and employee efficiency (Meyers, 2003).
Making a fitness program also has a great impact on team environments. Fitness programs will lead
to better morale, a more positive workplace, and an environment that will be more productive for all
employees and team members. Fitness programs present employees with team building activities
such as marathons, sprint

Antifeminist and Feminism within The Scarlet Letter
Antifeminist and Feminism within The Scarlet Letter
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter Hester Prynne is accused and convicted of adultery.
During the puritan era women in this society had specific obligations and rights they had to
maintain. By Hester having an affair and acting unladylike the community disapproved of her
actions causing everyone to isolate her in her town. Due to Hester Prynne s Isolation and the
harsh judgment she received from everyone in her town, she goes through having to deal with
Antifeminism acts towards her. Those who lived in the puritan era were not aware that their
behavior and actions towards Hester and those who were associated with her were considered
sexist. Throughout the story we see Hester deal with criticism and judgment from the community.
By her paving her own way and doing what she thinks is best for her self and not sticking to the
Status quo, she appeared to be fearless and Bold to those in the puritan era. Because of the actions
Hester Prynne s displayed she would be considered a modern day feminist, one who believes that
women and men should have equal rights. In The Scarlet Letter Hester going against what society
think is acceptable for a women living during the puritan era shows how she fits the modern
expectations of feminism. Once Hester is punished and convicted we slowly start seeing the change
in people in her community s behavior towards her. Throughout The Scarlet Letter Hester goes

Papacy Crisis
During the medieval period, debates over the pope s power created significant tension between
the Papacy and Europe s kings. These tensions manifested themselves in the Investiture Crisis of
the late 11th and early 12th centuries, a quarrel between Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV and
Pope Gregory VII over the appointment of bishops. This controversy came to a head when Henry
used his army to force Gregory VII out of Rome to install his anti PopeClement III. While the
Concordat of Worms resolved the crisis, the impacts of the Investiture Crisis continued to affect the
Papacy. One of the Investiture Crisis most notably facets was its demonstration of how the Papacy
could not prevent ambitious kings from trying to infringe on Papal power. Despite... Show more

While Boniface possessed greater temporal power than Gregory VII did (due to the reforms of
Innocent III), they both shared an obstinacy that alienated secular rulers, especially on matters of
lay investiture or taxation. Ambitious kings, whether or not they made moves to keep their
kingdoms hold on the Papacy, could still find ways to subvert and control its power to their
advantage. The impact of the Investiture Crisis resonated nearly 200 years after it started, as the
assumptions of Gregory VII and Henry IV about their respective powers carried over to Boniface
VIII and Philip IV, albeit changed to fit with the evolving spiritual and temporal nature of the

Analysis Of North Ridgeville
I am from North Ridgeville Ohio, a city that is roughly a half hour from downtown Cleveland. I
have lived there my whole life and have live in the same general area of this city. The town was
first settled in May of 1810. It was not named North Ridgeville until 9 years later when the first
post office was constructed. As of 2015, the town has grown to an estimated 25 square miles,
third in Lorain County , witch an estimate population of 32,983 (24k). The population is almost
50:50 with Female to Male ratio with an average age of dwellers as 41 years old. The town is full
of many small businesses and a few grocery stores. There is a lot of farmland in North Ridgeville.

North Ridgeville, or Ridgeville County during he earlier parts of history, was once covered by
the Late Wisconsin Glacier. In my area here are 6 known soils around the entire county. They
are; the Mahoning Trumbull Ellsworth association, the Orrville Lobdell Chagrin association,
the Fitchville Luray Sebring association, the Allis Mitiwanage Miner association, the Haskins
Jimtown Oshtemo association, and the Mahoning Miner association. All of these associations
have either near level, or very steep sloping, somewhat poor, to very poor drainage, and we only
have 4 horizons found in Lorain County. They are the O, A, B, and C horizons. The state of
Ohio is known as the Miamian state soil. They are considered as the most expensive soil around
as they have tons of cash crops being farmed, but also because of the drainage being so poor due
to dry weather, unpredictable weather, and dry soils. They constantly need to be watered and
seeded. The sun just beats down on a lot of the soil, especially my backyard, even with shade
present. Ohio is part of 4 other resource regions, which extend from Maine to Alabama, and as far
as the eastern part of Nebraska. Much of the soils found near me are left behind the glaciers that
carved out the Great Lakes.

Yeats s Interest in Rhythm
The purpose of rhythm, it has always seemed to me, is to prolong the moment of contemplation,
the moment when we are both awake and asleep, which is the one moment of creation, by
hushing us with an alluring monotony, while it holds us waking by variety, to keep us in that
state of perhaps real trance, in which the mind liberated from the pressure of the will is unfolded
in symbols. (W.B. Yeats) What light does this comment of Yeats shed on his poetry? Feel free in
your answer to concentrate on poetic devices other than rhythm if you prefer. Yeats interest in
rhythm was deeply tied to the notion of the sound of the earth and nature, and our relationship
with the elements. He also had a profound interest and belief in faery, and the ways in which one
could transcend material reality in order to reach that world which ran alongside the natural
world. Yet Yeats, who was born in 1865 and died in 1939, lived through an era of immense
scientific discovery and change. He lived in a world where, by and large, to believe in faery was
to be irrational, and the industrial hum of engines prevailed over the quieter sounds of nature. In
his earlier poetry, he conveys a certain reverence towards the ancient rhythms of language and
nature, flying in the face of the frenetically busy London life he experienced as a young man. The
bewitching beauty of the landscape of Sligo, steeped in folklore, were the true rhythms which
brought on the state of perhaps real trance , allowing him to

My Views Of Marriage, Family, And Personal Life
At the beginning of the semester we learned the basis of what makes Christianity, the Trinity.
After reviewing and understanding the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost we looked at how
each three of these entities were reflected in the relationships of mankind; from marriage, to
family, to vocation. With a deeper understanding of these concepts I have had an alteration and
growth in my worldview in the way in which I should be living my life. In this paper I will discuss
deciphering my calling, my views of marriage, family, and personal life direct my thought process.
I will also discuss how they are being implemented in a way that allows me to share the teachings
of the Lord with others in my daily life. As mentioned in the previous lecture we are all born for a
purpose, and this purpose is considered to be our calling. There are basic callings that we all have
as Christians, such as getting married, starting a family, and pronouncing our faith in Jesus. But
there are callings that are specific to each one of us, one of which is our choice of employment.
When it comes to obtaining a career it is important that you choose the one Godhas established for
you not what you have set for yourself; I can personally attest to this. Growing up I planned to be
a specialized pediatric surgeon, mainly because my parents directed down the path to become a
doctor. After completing three years at the University of Alabama, obtaining a degree in Biology
and Math, I realized

The Catcher in the Rye
The Catcher in the Rye Character Analysis of Holden Caufield
In J.D. Salinger s novel The Catcher in the Rye, the main character, Holden Caufield, describes in
detail the parts of his life and his environment that bother him the most. He faces these problems
with a kind of naivety that prevents him from fully understanding why it is that he is so depressed.
His life revolves around his problems, and he seems helpless in evading them. Among others,
Holden finds himself facing the issues of acceptance of death, growing up, and his own self
destructiveness.
One of the hardships Holden must cope with is his inability to come to terms with death, in
particular that of his younger brother, Allie. Holden seems to have experienced a... Show more

In chapter twenty five, Holden, while walking along Fifth Avenue, begins to believe that he will
not be able to get to the other side of the street each time he reaches the end of a block, as if he will
just fall off. He talks aloud to Allie to help him get through the ordeal. Holden also continues to see
Allie as one of the few things he likes about life.
Yet another demon that Holden avoids is the process of having to grow up. Throughout the book,
he seems hesitant to develop any real ambitions or goals. He is a perpetual failure at school. He
refuses to associate himself with mature ways of living, and so isolates himself from anyone his
own age or older. This is all directly connected to Holden s picture perfect image of his
childhood. He sees this particular period of his life as his own personal paradise. He does not
want to finalize the fact that he has to concede it s innocence in the end. Towards the end of the
book, Holden shows his desire for life to remain as it was by saying, ...certain things should stay
the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave
them alone. Holden does not want to join a world of phonies and greed, a world lacking in
carelessness and irresponsibility. He won t, whether consciously or not, accept the fact that he has
no choice.
A final conflict in the life of Holden Caufield is his own self destructiveness. That he is

Why Intelligence Is Measured By Standardized Test Scores...
In today s American education system, the arts are typically referred to as electives. they are not
mandatory and are seen as hobbies. STEM subjects (the sciences, technology, english, and
mathematics) are viewed as necessary skills in today s society. A student that has a talent for
photography yet lacks considerable skill in mathematics is usually seen as unintelligent, or
academically challenged. A different student, one who is gifted in mathematics, yet is below
average when it comes to skills in their art class is not faulted for their loss of artistic talent. They
are praised for their intelligence no matter their artistic prowess. Artistic students are constantly
made to feel deficient, as if there is something wrong with them if the struggle with STEM subjects.
This paper focuses on asking why students are made to feel that way. Why intelligence is measured
in standardized testscores and letter grades. It will explore how lack of the arts and creativity is
damaging to students, and how this disregard for creativity starts well before we are aware of it. It
starts in elementary schools and primary educationsystems, and continues on into adulthood. One of
the main concerns of this paper is how harmful this mindset can be to students. The modern idea of
school curriculum is that every student should be tested for the same set of skills and in the same
way, measuring every student up to the same standard. The problem with this is that the people
who came up with

Women Are The Ones Who Handle Household Chores
Always women are the ones who handle the household chores
Household chores like doing the laundry, cleaning the utensils, taking care of children and making
food is always done by women. If both, husband and wife are working, it is always the woman
doing the domestic work. But this is not always true. This is in fact a gender stereotype which has
existed since many years. Maybe not all men or fathers do household chores, but many do.
According to Catherine Rampell, a writer for The New York Times newspaper, on an average day,
66.6% men and 85% women report doing some sort of household activity.
Almost everybody believe in this stereotype. Even if a man is sharing household work with his
spouse or any other female in the house, his image is presented as if he does nothing. Even if he
is contributing little, he is at least doing something, and something is definitely better than
nothing. No man s conscious would allow him to see his wife or any female in the house do all
the work in the house alone. Even if a man is going out for groceries, it is not considered a
household work by the female, just because he did not contribute to do the work in the house.
Women tend to see the results instead of the work done to get those particular results. If men are
doing the dishes, it is considered nothing because they are just rinsing them and putting them in the
dish washer, which is an easy job. But it takes time to do it. Men are using up their time, in which
they relax, to do the

Key Data Collection Methods
1. What were the key data collection methods used and how did they align with the focus of the
research?
After reading the article Utilizing goal setting strategies at the middle level: Help students self
regulation behavior I found there were three different data collection methods that were used by the
research team. The first data collection method that was used was pre and post surveys. Surveys
are one of the most common and efficient ways to gather information. They provide large scale
responses very fast and can be utilized very efficiently and with minimal expense and can be easily
and quickly analyzed (Efron Ravid, 2013, p. 107). The research team gave the students that
participated in the research project a survey before the research project started and then again at the
conclusion of the project. They asked the students question from the Adaptive Learning Scales. This
survey examined how student learning is related to motivation, behavior, and effort (Patel, Smith,
Fitzsimmons, Kara, Detmer, 2012). The second data method that was used was the daily goal
journals that the students were asked to fill out. These goal journals was developed using the six
specific goals that were created by the research team. The students were asked to take notes on
how they felt they were doing moving toward their goals (2012). The last data method that was
used was the weekly reflection sheet. There were seven items on this reflection sheet that asked the

Robin Hood Motivated Change
Robin Hood was never real and is just an idea that motivated change. The story of Robin Hood has
been change throughout the world many many times. The stories depict him as dashing person
who took form the rich and gave to the poor. There is very little we know about him because it has
been altered from generation to generation.
The story does have some historical accuracy. The legend of Robin Hoodrose out of the chaos of
the reign of King John of England, during the early thirteenth century. (1) The idea was that Robin
Hood would inspire the common folk to rebel against the mad king. This did get barons to form a
group and challenge the the king with the Magna Carta. This lower the king s powers and influence

Everybody Dance Now Analysis
Sun Woo Kim: Paper #1
Regardless of the era, people who belong to it will dance at least once in their lifetime. One can go
as far as to say that dancing is crucial to one s overall happiness. Realizing this significance, C+C
Music Factory produced a song called Gonna Make You Sweat to inspire the world to dance. It
reached its peak in the week of February 5th, the day I was born and stayed on the Billboard 100
number one for mere two weeks.
Gonna Make You Sweat, or also known as Everybody Dance Now, is a song by C+C Music
Factory. This song is comprised of two components, the rap and vocal, performed by Freedom
Williams and disco/house artist Martha Wash. After it was released in December 1990, it was
considered a worldwide smash and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in
February 1991. This song was also number one on Billboard s Top R B Singles and on Hot Dance
Music/Club Play as well.

It has fast tempo and a regular rhythm. Martha Wash sings Everybody Dance Now and is later
followed by the rap of Freedom Williams. This illustrates the combination of both rap and gospel
type vocal. The chorus gives the song repetition that allows the audience to feel at ease and enjoy
the upbeat music. Also, Wash s chorus is very high pitched and produces much tension within the
listener; nonetheless, William s low key rap gives the resolution that they need.
C+C Music Factory were a group comprised of extremely skilled members and it is not
surprising that they produced a hit like that of Gonna Make You Sweat. As a group effort, they
created a music with lyrics that gave rise to ecstatic emotions within the audience and with just the
right musical style. It is a shame that it was released the week I was born; I wish to have lived
during that week to experience the effects the song had on the

with the audience. What makes some ads memorable and others forgettable? The product may
be visually appealing, from a desirable brand, or presented as a solution to the viewer s problem
such as anti aging cream for wrinkles. Such is the case for an ad for The Venetian resort and

on a luxurious white bed with bountiful pillows. This ad may appeal to a high socio economic class
of viewers with a desire to belong in a high class society in accordance with a term called snob

argument suggests advancing age will not interfere with having fun by targeting a specific
audience, using unconventional visual appeals, a logical text structure, The Venetian s status to
establish credibility, and opportune timing.
A trip to Las Vegas entails spending several hundred dollars on a hotelalone. Combining this with

Analysis Of The NovelAll Quiet On The Western Front, By...
People such as Erich Maria Remarque help people like me, someone who has not served
acknowledge the brutal and breathtaking memories that he hasn t lived but wants to learn about. In
Erich Maria Remarque s landmark war novel, All Quiet on the Western Front, illustrates how war
is hell on the soldiers who served in World War 1. The Novel, Paul Baumer, is a foot soldier
fighting for the German Army; he shares a first hand account of the wars atrocities on himself and
his comrades in arms. In the novel, All Quiet on the Western Frontby Erich Maria Remarque, the
author reveals the innocent yet destructive war experience between the main characters of the
story. Paul and his relationship to the first industrialized world war between Germany and others
through the use of a variety of literary elements including irony to emphasize the impact of war on
young gentlemen as well as employing imagery or writing that appeals to readers senses to
illustrate how war changes the boys into men of lost generation.
Erich Maria Remarque conceptualizes the morbid imagery of war in order to teach the readers
how war is vile and putrid. While in war you can see the guts and gore from some of your
friends, but some of the animals that are used in war. The belly of the horse was ripped open
and the guts trail out (Remarque 63). During battle the warriors endured scary sights. War noises
are scary and lingering in the mind. The screaming of the beast becomes louder (Remarque 63).
When in battle you don t know what you will face next. The forest was burnt down but the
soldiers looked at the positive side and noticed it still smelled good. They still smell of resin and
pine (Sobel). The soldiers sometimes used small things like these to make them more confident.
Erich Maria Remarque uses imagery to show the readers how brutal war is.
Remarque s novel All Quiet on the Western Front reveals the true feelings about the war and its
effects on those warriors. Men while in the front lines when receiving fire get a different feeling
and everyone reacts differently. Men revert to animal instincts when under fire (Remarque 131).
This suggests when facing life or death people will do whatever it takes to live. Warriors during

Analysis Of Interior Of The Pantheon, Roman By Giovanni...
Interior of the Pantheon, Rome (1734) is a remarkable painting by Giovanni Paolo Panini who is
best known for his prospects on Rome in which he focussed on the city s famous sites. His works
largely have a fancy and unreal adornment feature of capriccio themes. The Pantheon is a former
Roman temple which is now a church in Rome. It is one of the best preserved Ancient Roman
Buildings which is also popular for the geometric wonder that it is. It demonstrates the theory of
2:3 correlation between the volume of a cylinder and a sphere. The Pantheon being one of the main
tourist attractions in Rome, Panini s depiction of this architectural model is populated with a lively
mix of Romans and other foreign visitors who are visiting the Pantheon to admire the marvellous
architecture, chat, and to pray. Panini being a trained expert in theatrical design and architecture
has provided a larger view of the interiors of Pantheon than what is possible in real from a single
point. The viewpoint is intense while it faces the entrance. Panini s attempt to show the bright blue
sky through the oculus in the centre of the dome just adds to the magnificence of the painting. The
psychic line towards the sunlight creates a soft feeling that is not too harsh on eyes but directs the
vision to the right point. The ground is a terracotta coloured layer that is reddish and contains
several translucent white pigments to provide a certain depth. The lines were incised using

The Budget Process
INTRODUCTION
Budgeting involves decision making regarding revenue and services for both public and nonprofit
organizations. Furthermore, budgeting provides the infrastructure and financial means for our
public systems and services. Primarily, the goal of budgeting is to achieve a balance between
revenue and expenditures. Governmental allocation and appropriation of funds are a utilized as a
political device to uphold the public interest. Appropriations permit policy proposals to manifest
from aspirations into accomplishments. Budgeting is the financial consideration that provides

Tedious is the budget process and each stage must be completed meticulously prior to the

Our Earth s Sixth Mass Extinction
Throughout the longevity of our Earth s biota, there are recorded times in which the majority of the
pre living fauna and flora were seemingly decimated. According to our fossil record, these bouts of
decimation have totaled to five individual instances throughout the existence of life on Earth. Many
scientists agree in saying that, humans as speciesare the main cause for current sixth mass extinction
. Some opponents to this theory claim that label of our worldwide ecological state as a sixth mass
extinction , is just an emotional charge that makes the problem seem cosmic and overwhelming
(Brand). This however is not a legitimate statement when taking into account the sheer magnitude
of humaninvolvement and activities that has added... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many would argue this feat to be a sign of Homo sapiens knack to survive, but in actuality we
survived on the backs of other species (figuratively of course) while in the process of wiping
many of them out. One of the earliest instances of extinction caused by humans was from our
ancestors about 12,000 20,000 years ago. When just coming into our prime as the lead predators of
the Earth, humans began to have an impact on hundreds of the surrounding fauna indirectly it
seems. According to radiocarbon dating of the fossils of the two meter tall flightless bird
commonly known as the Great Moa, indicate that they became extinct soon after humans arrived.
(Avise 219) Though our ancestors had no notion of conservation or ecological awareness, humans
as a species cannot displace the blame towards anything but to ourselves. Some believe that the
many mega fauna (exceedingly large animals) that went extinct when humans first started to hunt
more rapidly, due to population size growth, went extinct due to changes in climate not by human
interference. This notion is completely farce. It has been proven through fossil records that the
degree in climate change right before those species went extinct were very similar to the current
amount of climate change now. This being said, we don t see such a massive decline in the
present mega fauna today as there seems to have been in the past. The statistics gained from Robert

Microscopy Essay
The resolution of optical microscopes is fundamentally limited by the diffraction of light, as
postulated by German physicist Ernst Abbe in 1873. This means that a microscope cannot
distinguish two objects located closer than О»/2NA, where О» is the wavelength of light and NA is
the numerical aperture of the imaging lens (2). Although elucidation of cell functions and
subcellular processes has benefited from advances in fluorescent microscopy, this diffractionlimit
has fundamentally hindered optical microscopy for over a century (1). Recently, however, several
new developments in imaging have emerged which can circumvent this limit. By delivering optical
images with spatial resolutions below the diffraction limit super resolution microscopy techniques
now permits biologists to visualize structures and processes of cells at the molecular level, down to
several nanometers. This incredible improvement in spatial resolution has allowed biologists to
address important new questions requiring resolutions below 250nm, involving details such as the
fine architecture of cell structures, focal adhesions, microtubules, and coated vesicles. Internal
dynamic processes can also now be studied, including the movement of focal adhesion complexes
and bacteria polarity complexes (3). Super resolution techniques used for live cell imaging studies
can generally be divided into three categories: those based on highly localized fluorescence
emission volumes; those based on structured illumination;

Gun Violence And Domestic Violence
November of this year in Rancho Tehama, California, eighteen people were injured, and five
people were killed at eight separate crime scenes including an elementary school. The gunman
had charges against him including robbery and false imprisonment, as well as assault with a
deadly weapon and was out on bail for two felonies and five misdemeanors. He was also known by
the local authorities to have a history of violence against women. Earlier this year, he was
instructed to give up his firearms due to a protective order for two women which he had a
physical confrontation with in January 2017. Else ware in the United States, more than 50 people
were killed in October when a gunman opened fire on a crowded country music concert in Las
Vegas, while more than 20 people were killed when a gunman opened fire in a Baptist church in
Texas in the past few months.
The most recent mass shootings are just the latest reminder that domestic violence and guns are a
deadly combination. The link between guns and fatal domestic abuse is so strong, research shows
that just by a woman living in a state with a high rate of firearm ownership increases the risk of
being fatally shot in a domestic violence incident. Many factors contribute to the domestic violence
epidemic. The use of firearms in mass shootings usually expands the number of victims and
increases the fatalities. With the intentions on killing, if the abuser is using a gun, other people on

The Aspects Of The Moral Tales In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
In the General Prologue of Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, the Host instructs the pilgrims to tell
Tales of best sentence and moost solaas (GP 798). In other words, in order to win the contest, the
pilgrims must tell stories which both impart serious meaning/wisdom ( sentence ) as well as
entertainment ( solaas ). While the pilgrims all achieve these two goals to varying degrees, The
Pardoner s Tale seems at first to succeed very well in providing both moralteaching and
entertainment. However, while his tale effortlessly satisfies the solaas requirement, the Pardoner
cannot truly provide the sentence he aims for, as his lesson degrades into hypocrisy and he lacks
the respect from the other pilgrims necessary to afford his tale the impact he intends.
The Pardoner s Tale, an exemplum intended to demonstrate the phrase radix malorum est cupiditas
(greed is the root of all evil), tells of three riotoures (degenerates) who wish to find and kill Death.
(Pard 334, 463). A mysterious old mantells them that Death resides underneath a nearby tree, under
which the three men find a sack of gold instead. However the men do indeed find Death underneath
the tree, as they end up killing each other due to their own greed. This tale easily satisfies the solaas
requirement in its entertainment value. Firstly, the tale contains elements of mystery which make it
interesting. For example, the old man that points the three men to their demise is both
enigmatically old and inexplicably

Analysis Of Fly Away Home By Eve Bunting
A wise person one said, Being strong doesn t mean you ll never get hurt. It means even when you
get hurt, you ll never let it defeat you. This quote relates to the short story Fly Away Home by Eve
Bunting. In this story, a young boy named Andrew lives in an airport with his father, while living
there Andrew shows us that it is important to staystrong through tough times.
In the beginning of the story, being strong through tough times comes up a lot. In one instance
in the story, Andrew couldn t talk with the people he knew at the airport because they could get
him noticed. This shows that he stayed strong because it s really tempting to talk to your
friends, but Andrew had to choose not being noticed over friendship. This would be a big
challenge for most of us, but Andrew stayed strong through it. In addition, because Andrew lived
in an airport, he had to sleep sitting up because he had no bed. This is important because not only
is it had to sleep sitting up, but it s even tougher to have no hope of getting a real bed.
Furthermore, Andrew stayed strong when he saw everyone leaving to go home when he stayed at
the airport. Strength is shown here because Andrew must have known these people were going
home to family, but the only family he had was at the airport so Andrew had no choice but to stay.
As a result, it is important to stay strong through the tough times we face. Later in Fly Away Home,
having strength through hard times comes up quite a few times. For

Justness Of Corporal Punishment
Since the ancient human times, corporal punishment has been one of the most popular methods
parents have used on enforcing their tutelage onto their children. Corporal punishment is defined as
the physical punishment that parents use on their children to enforce rules. The act is seen as
something of the past in 48 countries around the world, but for Canada. This is because they still
have not resolved it in their legal systems, for Canada this law being the infamous Section 43. Even
though it was implemented for the protection of parents and teachers from prosecution because of
minor disciplining, it really is an excuse for violence against children. In this generation, the
justness and effectiveness of corporal punishmenthave come into question, which is what this
writing piece aims to further delve into.
While anthropology may not be the most obvious study connected to corporal punishment, the two
topics are more related than most people think. As humans, we have a sense of morals and values,
and the understanding of our culture s changes is vital to understanding our shift in values. From an
anthropological point of view, corporal punishment would be focused on what caused humanity s
shift in values when it came to the justness of corporal punishment? . Based on the evidence, the
answer to this would be if humanity has a recent change in values when it comes to corporal
punishment, then it is because of the recent boost of awareness different cultures have gained in

Argumentative Essay On Wild Horses
The mustangs run with a spirit that makes them legendary here in the west. On a bitter cold
morning, dozens of wild horses descend off the mountains of eastern Oregon, galloping miles across

infuriates many hard working Americans. Horses hoof prints in cattle grazing lands, drinking the

This occurs when the red blood cells of a person with the disease has an abnormal form of
hemoglobin called Hb S. Instead of the biconcave disk shape, the red blood cells are long, stiff,
rod like structures, making it easier for the cell to rupture. The cells also have difficulty moving
through blood vessels and can cause clots (Tortora and Derrickson, 2014). As of now, the only
cure for sickle cell anemia is a bone marrow or stem cell transplant, though there are various
treatments that can ease the symptoms and prolong life (CDC, Jan 2016). Sickle cell anemia is
very dangerous to have as the patient would experience blood loss and require blood
transfusions, and they would also be exposed to infection (CDC, June 2016). The disease is
inherited and is most commonly found in populations with ancestors from sub Saharan Africa,
Spanish speaking regions, Saudi Arabia, India, and Mediterranean countries. In the United
States, about 1 in 365 African American births have sickle cell disease (CDC, Feb 2016). In
areas where malaria is prevalent, there is selective pressure for sickle cell trait (individuals who

multiple mechanisms for how the sickle cell gene can block malarial infection (Gong et al.,

In a sickle cell trait red blood cell, the cell would become sickled due to oxygen consumption from
the parasite (Bunn, 2013). Other mechanisms include impairment of adhesion, and inhibition of

Limitations and Common Issues with 3D Printing Essay
It would have been clear by now that 3D printing has some obvious advantages. However,
sensitivity to a number of considerations is needed when new boundaries are broken using science
and engineering. Following are the common issues that arises out of the emergence of 3D printing
Cost and Time
3D printing can t compete with mainstream manufacturing technologies with respect to cost and
time for manufacturing. It may take anywhere between a few minutes to several hours to
manufacture a product using 3D printing depending upon the material used, size and complexity. It
is also possible that 3D printing companies might lock in consumers through proprietary supply
chain channel which might increase the cost of ownership.

Most people do not yet realize that research is underway which involves not only printing non
human cells, but also merging human cells with non human cells. We think that once folks begin to
realize, depending on their backgrounds, there will be some who will be concerned about this
possibility, Gartner research director Pete Basiliere says [12]
The rapid emergence of 3D printing will also create major challenges in relation to intellectual
property (IP) theft. Gartner predicts that by 2018, 3D printing will result in the loss of at least $100
billion per year in IP globally [13]
Insurance Considerations
Since 3D printing is a disruptive industry, it is not easy to understand the future implications
beyond educated guesses. Since insurance industry typically needs historical data to calculate
claims, they have their work cut out with respect to calculating the claims that may arise out of this
industry category.
The potential claims can be a product liability including accidental injury/damage due to the 3D
printed product or legal liability due to IP issues [14].

modern day the United Kingdom. The Romans left their numerous long roads, whose names
became lost in time since there was no written records or inscribed sources. Built by the Roman
army and long after they returned home, their roads survived, and some routes are in use today.
The Normans built fortified castles, which was a new concept since before that time there was
none in the United Kingdom. One example is Restormel Castle, which is in a circular in shape as

Analysis Of The Film Gladiators
The film Gladiators was about the reign or Marcus Aurelius coming to an end. When Marcus
chooses Maximus, an army general and a powerful man with good morals, over his own son

Maximus and his family to death. Maximus escapes his death sentence but is unable to save his
family. The loss of his family causes his willpower to disappear which allows him to be captured
and put into the games of the Gladiators until death. The only thing keeping him fighting is that he
has a chance to rise to the top and take revenge on the man who destroyed everything he loved, the
new emperor Commodus.
In my opinion, I would say the protagonist of this film was Maximus by far. Maximus was an
army general with good morals, a strong man who cared for others, a family man who would do
anything for the ones he loved, but most of all, he had courage. He wasn t afraid to do what
needed to be done when it was necessary. In the film, Maximus said something along the lines of I
am required to kill when it is necessary, not for enjoyment. His internal compass spins correctly,
unlike the antagonists. I would deem Commodus the antagonist of this film. First, he kills Marcus
Aurelius, the most loved ruler of Roam and a wonderful man, once he finds out that he isn t the
chosen heir to the Roman Empire. Second, he sentences Maximus and his entire to family to death
in a brutal, inhumane way. Commodus has some

the lights were off as if no one was home, my dad and I walked in I turned on the light and there
was nothing, not a sound could be heard. I told my dad I was heading to my room and made my
way upstairs. As soon as I opened the bedroom door everyone pops out dressed in Winnie the
Pooh costumes, my dad was in one too surprisingly. All of them started dancing around me while
singing the Winnie the Pooh theme song, at the same time pointing at me when they said piglet. I

Alternative Medicine For Traditional Medicine Essay
When it comes to traditional medicine, it doesn t always work and there isn t always a scientific
reason to prove it. There is no perfect medical solution in our world. When traditional medicine fails
patients, many physicians believe that prescribing alternative forms of medicine is more harmful
than not prescribing them at all, due to the supposed lack of evidence of their effectiveness. In this
case, patients have no other options for treatment. However, research has shown that there is a
significant amount of evidence that supports the effectiveness of alternative medicines. Alternative
medication therefore should be presented to these in dire need as a legitimate and potentially
effective form of treatment.
Complementary and Alternative Medicine, also known as CAM, refers to any of a range of medical
therapies that are not considered to be orthodox by the medical field. Complementary and
Alternative Medicine has been a controversial subject among multiple physicians as they debate
how agreeable it is to prescribe due to its lack of scientific backing. There have, however, been
an increasing number of physicians who are more comfortable to prescribe CAMs. There have
been greater regulations for upcoming doctors and physicians to study and be trained in a wide
range of practices about alternative medicine before being certified as doctors. Many patients have
relied on CAMs for their effectiveness due to the failure of conventional medicine and its treatment.

HOW GLOBALIZATION WENT BAD
Article 51: How Globalization Went Bad
From Terrorism to Global Warming
Emily Hudak
Dr. Trautman
January 20, 2011
Abstract
Steven Weber believes that evils of globalization are even more dangerous than ever before. In his
article he describes what has gone wrong, gives reasons for the instability, and provides solutions.
Article 51: How Globalization went Bad
From Terrorism to Global Warming In the Article How globalization Went Bad by Steven Weber et
al. the author describes several reasons why having the United States as the single super power in
this modern global market is not exactly a good thing. Weber says that the evils of globalization are
even more dangerous than ever before...The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With only one superpower more nations will seek nuclear arms because they are without a
superpower ally. With multiple superpowers smaller countries will have no need for nuclear
capability because they are protected by a larger superpower. Every country having their own
nuclear weapon will no longer be a necessity. In a multi superpower world, great powers will
split the responsibility of monitoring nuclear growth around the world, and be able to team up
when trouble arises. Weber believes that this theory can be applied in other areas as well. Global
public health will be significantly improved with a multi super power world. Poor countries where
humans live in close proximity to farm animals are the best place to breed extremely dangerous
zoonotic disease. These are often the same countries that feel threatened by American power. With a
more health conscious global leaders, intervention in these countries will be made easier. Weber s
second solution is Restoring the Balance. Weber explains that the United States continues
dissuading potential competitors from challenging the United States, its allies and partners. In other
words More American power is always better. George Kennan brought this problem to the world s
attention in the 1940 s, when he suggested a European country rise to restrain the

Ethos Pathos Logos
Advertisement Success and the Use of Ethos, Logos, and Pathos
The main purpose of commercials and advertisements is to persuade the viewer to purchase the
product that is advertised, but not all commercials are successful in this endeavor. Companies, such
as Budweiser and Kleenex, appeal to the viewers ethos, logos, and pathos in order to influence
them to buy the advertised product(s). In order to appeal to each of the categories, companies use
different tactics to catch viewers attention. The use of ethos, logos, and pathos can make or break
an advertisement based on how it is being used.
Budweiser first released its Lost Dog commercial during Super Bowl XLIX (49). The
advertisement centers itself around a small dog who, out of curiosity, enters a truck trailer without
the knowledge of his owner. The dog then attempts to find its way back home but encounters an
obstacle that it cannot overcome a hungry wolf. When all hope seems lost, the dog s best friends,
the Budweiser trademarked Clydesdale horses, come to save him. The dog and horses all make it
back home to their owner at the end of the advertisement.
The commercial appeals to the audience s pathos more than anything. Animals, especially dogs,
have a way of pulling with human heartstrings. ...they can be used to transfer desired meanings to
the products with which they are associated (Phillips 1). In other words, using animals in
advertisements can link advertised products to the feelings that are associated

History Of Mission San Juan Capistrano
The history of Mission San Juan Capistrano is similar to that of two other nearby missions in that it
was relocated to the San Antonio area from East Texas in 1731. Its purpose was also similar to that
of the other missions, namely to convert Native American groups to Christianity, assimilate them
into Spanish society, and promote settlement in the region. In addition to its early history, the
mission compound itself was constructed in a form typical of other San Antonio area missions,
including a church and plaza surrounded by a defensive wall formed from stone Indian quarters.
The compound included other ancillary structures such as a granary, convent, workshops, and other
storage facilities. Today the complex includes the ruins of the second

These tensions manifested themselves in the Investiture Crisis of the late 11th and early 12th centuries, a quarrel between Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV and Pope Gregory VII over the appointment of bishops. This controversy came to a head when Henry used his army to force Gregory VII out of Rome to install his anti PopeClement III. • 6. Yeats s Interest in Rhythm The purpose of rhythm, it has always seemed to me, is to prolong the moment of contemplation, the moment when we are both awake and asleep, which is the one moment of creation, by hushing us with an alluring monotony, while it holds us waking by variety, to keep us in that state of perhaps real trance, in which the mind liberated from the pressure of the will is unfolded in symbols. (W.B. Yeats) What light does this comment of Yeats shed on his poetry? Feel free in your answer to concentrate on poetic devices other than rhythm if you prefer. Yeats interest in rhythm was deeply tied to the notion of the sound of the earth and nature, and our relationship with the elements. He also had a profound interest and belief in faery, and the ways in which one could transcend material reality in order to reach that world which ran alongside the natural world. Yet Yeats, who was born in 1865 and died in 1939, lived through an era of immense scientific discovery and change. He lived in a world where, by and large, to believe in faery was to be irrational, and the industrial hum of engines prevailed over the quieter sounds of nature. In his earlier poetry, he conveys a certain reverence towards the ancient rhythms of language and nature, flying in the face of the frenetically busy London life he experienced as a young man. The bewitching beauty of the landscape of Sligo, steeped in folklore, were the true rhythms which brought on the state of perhaps real trance , allowing him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will also discuss how they are being implemented in a way that allows me to share the teachings of the Lord with others in my daily life. As mentioned in the previous lecture we are all born for a purpose, and this purpose is considered to be our calling. There are basic callings that we all have as Christians, such as getting married, starting a family, and pronouncing our faith in Jesus. But there are callings that are specific to each one of us, one of which is our choice of employment. STEM subjects (the sciences, technology, english, and mathematics) are viewed as necessary skills in today s society. It will explore how lack of the arts and creativity is damaging to students, and how this disregard for creativity starts well before we are aware of it. It starts in elementary schools and primary educationsystems, and continues on into adulthood. One of the main concerns of this paper is how harmful this mindset can be to students. Women Are The Ones Who Handle Household Chores Always women are the ones who handle the household chores Household chores like doing the laundry, cleaning the utensils, taking care of children and making food is always done by women. If both, husband and wife are working, it is always the woman doing the domestic work. But this is not always true. This is in fact a gender stereotype which has existed since many years. Maybe not all men or fathers do household chores, but many do. According to Catherine Rampell, a writer for The New York Times newspaper, on an average day, 66.6% men and 85% women report doing some sort of household activity. Almost everybody believe in this stereotype. Even if a man is sharing household work with his spouse or any other female in the house, his image is presented as if he does nothing. Even if he is contributing little, he is at least doing something, and something is definitely better than nothing. No man s conscious would allow him to see his wife or any female in the house do all the work in the house alone. Even if a man is going out for groceries, it is not considered a household work by the female, just because he did not contribute to do the work in the house. Women tend to see the results instead of the work done to get those particular results. After reading the article Utilizing goal setting strategies at the middle level: Help students self regulation behavior I found there were three different data collection methods that were used by the research team. The first data collection method that was used was pre and post surveys. Surveys are one of the most common and efficient ways to gather information. They asked the students question from the Adaptive Learning Scales. This survey examined how student learning is related to motivation, behavior, and effort (Patel, Smith, Fitzsimmons, Kara, Detmer, 2012). The second data method that was used was the daily goal journals that the students were asked to fill out. These goal journals was developed using the six specific goals that were created by the research team. Some opponents to this theory claim that label of our worldwide ecological state as a sixth mass extinction , is just an emotional charge that makes the problem seem cosmic and overwhelming (Brand). Many would argue this feat to be a sign of Homo sapiens knack to survive, but in actuality we survived on the backs of other species (figuratively of course) while in the process of wiping many of them out. One of the earliest instances of extinction caused by humans was from our ancestors about 12,000 20,000 years ago. When just coming into our prime as the lead predators of the Earth, humans began to have an impact on hundreds of the surrounding fauna indirectly it seems. According to radiocarbon dating of the fossils of the two meter tall flightless bird commonly known as the Great Moa, indicate that they became extinct soon after humans arrived. (Avise 219) Though our ancestors had no notion of conservation or ecological awareness, humans as a species cannot displace the blame towards anything but to ourselves. Some believe that the many mega fauna (exceedingly large animals) that went extinct when humans first started to hunt more rapidly, due to population size growth, went extinct due to changes in climate not by human interference. This notion is completely farce. It has been proven through fossil records that the degree in climate change right before those species went extinct were very similar to the current amount of climate change now. This being said, we don t see such a massive decline in the present mega fauna today as there seems to have been in the past. The statistics gained from Robert M. • 24. Microscopy Essay The resolution of optical microscopes is fundamentally limited by the diffraction of light, as postulated by German physicist Ernst Abbe in 1873. This means that a microscope cannot distinguish two objects located closer than О»/2NA, where О» is the wavelength of light and NA is the numerical aperture of the imaging lens (2). Although elucidation of cell functions and subcellular processes has benefited from advances in fluorescent microscopy, this diffractionlimit has fundamentally hindered optical microscopy for over a century (1). Recently, however, several new developments in imaging have emerged which can circumvent this limit. By delivering optical images with spatial resolutions below the diffraction limit super resolution microscopy techniques now permits biologists to visualize structures and processes of cells at the molecular level, down to several nanometers. This incredible improvement in spatial resolution has allowed biologists to address important new questions requiring resolutions below 250nm, involving details such as the fine architecture of cell structures, focal adhesions, microtubules, and coated vesicles. Internal dynamic processes can also now be studied, including the movement of focal adhesion complexes and bacteria polarity complexes (3). Super resolution techniques used for live cell imaging studies can generally be divided into three categories: those based on highly localized fluorescence emission volumes; those based on structured illumination; ... Gun Violence And Domestic Violence November of this year in Rancho Tehama, California, eighteen people were injured, and five people were killed at eight separate crime scenes including an elementary school. The gunman had charges against him including robbery and false imprisonment, as well as assault with a deadly weapon and was out on bail for two felonies and five misdemeanors. He was also known by the local authorities to have a history of violence against women. Earlier this year, he was instructed to give up his firearms due to a protective order for two women which he had a physical confrontation with in January 2017. The most recent mass shootings are just the latest reminder that domestic violence and guns are a deadly combination. The link between guns and fatal domestic abuse is so strong, research shows that just by a woman living in a state with a high rate of firearm ownership increases the risk of being fatally shot in a domestic violence incident. • 26. The Aspects Of The Moral Tales In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales In the General Prologue of Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, the Host instructs the pilgrims to tell Tales of best sentence and moost solaas (GP 798). In other words, in order to win the contest, the pilgrims must tell stories which both impart serious meaning/wisdom ( sentence ) as well as entertainment ( solaas ). While the pilgrims all achieve these two goals to varying degrees, The Pardoner s Tale seems at first to succeed very well in providing both moralteaching and entertainment. However, while his tale effortlessly satisfies the solaas requirement, the Pardoner cannot truly provide the sentence he aims for, as his lesson degrades into hypocrisy and he lacks the respect from the other pilgrims necessary to afford his tale the impact he intends. The Pardoner s Tale, an exemplum intended to demonstrate the phrase radix malorum est cupiditas (greed is the root of all evil), tells of three riotoures (degenerates) who wish to find and kill Death. (Pard 334, 463). A mysterious old mantells them that Death resides underneath a nearby tree, under which the three men find a sack of gold instead. However the men do indeed find Death underneath the tree, as they end up killing each other due to their own greed. This tale easily satisfies the solaas requirement in its entertainment value. Firstly, the tale contains elements of mystery which make it interesting. For example, the old man that points the three men to their demise is both enigmatically old and inexplicably ... This quote relates to the short story Fly Away Home by Eve Bunting. In this story, a young boy named Andrew lives in an airport with his father, while living there Andrew shows us that it is important to staystrong through tough times. In the beginning of the story, being strong through tough times comes up a lot. In one instance in the story, Andrew couldn t talk with the people he knew at the airport because they could get him noticed. This shows that he stayed strong because it s really tempting to talk to your friends, but Andrew had to choose not being noticed over friendship. This would be a big challenge for most of us, but Andrew stayed strong through it. In addition, because Andrew lived in an airport, he had to sleep sitting up because he had no bed. This is important because not only is it had to sleep sitting up, but it s even tougher to have no hope of getting a real bed. Furthermore, Andrew stayed strong when he saw everyone leaving to go home when he stayed at the airport. Strength is shown here because Andrew must have known these people were going home to family, but the only family he had was at the airport so Andrew had no choice but to stay. As a result, it is important to stay strong through the tough times we face. Later in Fly Away Home, having strength through hard times comes up quite a few times. For ... Corporal punishment is defined as the physical punishment that parents use on their children to enforce rules. The act is seen as something of the past in 48 countries around the world, but for Canada. This is because they still have not resolved it in their legal systems, for Canada this law being the infamous Section 43. Even though it was implemented for the protection of parents and teachers from prosecution because of minor disciplining, it really is an excuse for violence against children. In this generation, the justness and effectiveness of corporal punishmenthave come into question, which is what this writing piece aims to further delve into. While anthropology may not be the most obvious study connected to corporal punishment, the two topics are more related than most people think. As humans, we have a sense of morals and values, and the understanding of our culture s changes is vital to understanding our shift in values. From an anthropological point of view, corporal punishment would be focused on what caused humanity s shift in values when it came to the justness of corporal punishment? . Based on the evidence, the answer to this would be if humanity has a recent change in values when it comes to corporal punishment, then it is because of the recent boost of awareness different cultures have gained in ... There is no perfect medical solution in our world. When traditional medicine fails patients, many physicians believe that prescribing alternative forms of medicine is more harmful than not prescribing them at all, due to the supposed lack of evidence of their effectiveness. In this case, patients have no other options for treatment. However, research has shown that there is a significant amount of evidence that supports the effectiveness of alternative medicines.
