3. INTRODUCTION
• Nigerian education has become a food for thought for all well-
meaning individual both at home and Diaspora.
• It has several times been argued that Nigerian education system is at

development and supply of trained and skill technical manpower in
order to be part of the present more towards globalization.

of practical.
• Despite the poor result been witness, still parent send
their children to the various technical collages in Yobe
state.
• Insufficient teachers in the technical colleges.

• Lack of workshop facilities
• Lack of seminars and in-service training due to financial .
5. Research Questions

equipment in the technical colleges?
What is the extent of student’s involvement in the utilization of
electrical workshop facilities and equipment in the technical
colleges?
What is the efficiency of electrical workshop facilities and
equipment for conducting practical lesson in the technical
colleges?
Do the technical colleges have enough qualified electrical
teachers to handle both theory and practical lesson?
Do the workshops contain relevant materials for conducting
practical lesson in the technical colleges?
6. The Gap that Exist Between Theory and Practical
• Every society give quality training to its citizens in order to be a
responsible and progressive member.
• Technical skills play critical role to help develop, renew our citizenry and
help them acquired knowledge, value, attitudes and skills that will
contribute to fulfilling national purpose and individual interest and goals.

technical collages in Yobe state and all the NTC II students
of the colleges.
• Six (6) technical collages were selected from the population
using stratified random sampling technique.
• Two (2) instruments was used for data collection, this are
checklist and structured questionnaire.
• Data collected for the research questionnaires were analyzed
using mean and standard deviation.
8. Conclusion
• It was concluded that the technical colleges
lack facilities and equipment in the
workshops,
• Lack of workshop buildings,
• Improper utilization of the available tools,
• Insufficient power supply
• Students ratio in the class during practical
exercise.
9. Recommendations
• Government should intensify their effort in constructing more classrooms and
workshops to accommodate the expected increase in yearly enrolment.
• Government should provide sufficient and appropriate electrical facilities and
equipment in to the technical colleges.
• Teachers should be motivated through cash and kind.
• Upgrading and updating their knowledge, seminars, workshops and in-service
training.
• Sufficient power supply and alternate source of energy should be provided.
• Parents, communities, organized private sectors, international agencies;
should collaborate and assist government by involving themselves in the
provision of technical skills. This is because government alone cannot and will
not be able to provide qualitative skills acquisition by itself.
