The Universal Inner Struggle Revealed in Hamlet Essay
The Universal Inner Struggle Revealed in Hamlet
Life is defined by the struggles it presents us. Without these constant tests of our fortitude, we would
never grow as mature human beings. This is the one common denominator linking all people, past,
present, and future. It is no mystery why our literature and art reflect this characteristic. The creation
of a character is a mirror image of a human. Shakespeare perfectly understood this truth. He crafted
Hamlet, Claudius, Polonius, and his many other characters so that they would reflect life and in this
way, entertain and educate his audience. Shakespeare s outright goal may have been to simply make
money, but along the way, he sculpted beautiful characters filled with ... Show more content on

After all of Hamlet s scheming, planning, and thinking, he gets his proof by simply being in the right
place, at the right time. The time for words, words, words is over; action is necessary. But again,
Hamlet falters. Recognizing the effects of prayer, Hamlet seethes: A villain kills my father, and for
that I, his sole son, do this same villain send to heaven (3.3.76 78). The prince is again in a bind.
Allowing the reader access to his thoughts makes Hamlet an instantly sympathic character, and
quenches the voyeuristic appetite of the reader. Hamlet s struggle is not over, and the reader wonders
if he will ever meet an agreeable fate.
As Hamlet contends with his internal struggle, he also wrestles with his desire to make his situation
better. Like the internal struggle, this need to play the hero is something that the audience can identify
with. The only difference is that not everyone has the heart to do it. Accepting the charge from the
Ghost, Hamlet swears, O cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right! (2.2.188 89). A father and a
king have been slain. And the king s most seeming virtuous queen (1.5.46) has married her husband s
brother. Against these great obstacles, Hamlet takes on the noble quest of revenging his father. First,
he must set things right with his mother. Vowing to speak daggers to her, but use none (3.2.374), the

Emily Dickinson s Poetry Essay
The large amount of poems in Dickinson s collection containing the theme of death is impossible to be
overlooked. Approximately one third from her entire collection speaks about the subject, something
that for many decades has intrigued fans and scholars alike. In order to understand this fixation, one
must study the poet s upbringing and religious conflicts, which are unequivocally at the center of this
fascination with the theme of death.
Consider by many as the best and least known major American author (Eberwein 1), Dickinson love
for poetry began and was encouraged by Benjamin F. Newton, a two year apprentice at her father s
law firm, who encourage her in her writing and apparently told her she could become a great poet

Mr. Dickinson was a very well respected man who had been treasurer for the Amherst College for
nearly four decades; he served many times as state legislator, was a great leader within the Amherst
community, but most importantly, he was a father with infinite love to his daughter Emily. In a letter
after his death, Emily wrote, His heart was pure and terrible and I think no one like it exits. I am glad
there is immortality but would have tested myself before entrusting him (Dickinson 528), meaning
that she would have preferred dying before her father.
Born in December 10, 1830, in Amherst, Massachusetts, Emily grew up in a puritan family
surrounded with Calvinist doctrine religious doctrine which stresses that people are saved through
God s grace and the necessity of conversion It was this condition for conversion into Christianity what
created an internal religious conflict, that led Emily to distancing herself from church, and later to the
hundreds of poems and letters in which she rationalized her decision and began to explores the theme
of death and salvation
In his book titled Emily Dickinson, Paul J. Ferlazzo claims that Dickinson s sense of worry about
salvation after death takes many forms in every period of her life. In order to expand on his claim,
Ferlazzo offers the following Dickinson s stanza as an example to support his point of view.

Brand Personality And Infosys
Brand Personality
Brand personality is the way a brand speaks and behaves. It means assigning human personality
traits/characteristics to a brand so as to achieve differentiation. These characteristics signify brand
behaviour through both individuals representing the brand (i.e. it s employees) as well as through
advertising, packaging, etc. When brand image or brand identity is expressed in terms of human traits,
it is called brand personality. For instance Allen Solley brand speaks the personality and makes the
individual who wears it stand apart from the crowd. Infosys represents uniqueness, value, and
intellectualism.
Brand personality is nothing but personification of brand. A brand is expressed either as a personality
who embodies these personality traits (For instance Shahrukh Khan and Airtel, John Abraham and
Castrol) or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, retail branding as a key differential competitive component of retail marketing strategy,
has received significant attention in the retail literature (Kent, 2003;Ailawadi and Keller, 2004; Burt

with private label brand produced by retailers (Burt and Davies, 2010), which enabled operating
advantage for these firms in the form of superior profit margins, economies of scale, market
segmentation and differentiation. Here, the products and services offered to define the retail brand, act
as the core differentiator between the firm and competitors. As the role of private label brand
development has become more strategically important, there has been increasing focus on mental
models of the retail brand

Effective Reward Management is Critical to Organizational...
Effective reward management is critical to organisational performance
Being rewarded and recognised for their work or contribution is what keeps an employee motivated to
work towards achieving the organisational as well as personal goals. When the employees is
motivated by rewards, they will have job satisfaction consequently increasing the productivity of the
organisation. It necessitates the need of managers to pay more attention in understanding their
employees and come up with suitable types of reward systems for the organisation so that the
employees are intrinsically and extrinsically motivated all the time. The hypotheses that I put forward
here is to support this statement that effective reward management is critical to ... Show more content

Forrest (as cited in Donovan, 2008) says that before putting any motivation programme together, an
employer should profile the target audience in terms of age, gender interests and should also ensure
that the rewards it offers will appeal to any individual.
As cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sa ́nchez (2011) reward management is a key function in HRM
systems in modern enterprises, playing an important role in attracting, retaining and motivating
employees (Milkovich and Newman, 2004). Furthermore, Schuler and Jackson (as cited in Esteves
Caetano, 2010) state that the focal point of success of companies today is centered on the effective use
of human resources.
In today s knowledge based economy, innovation has become the principal source of competitive
advantages in global business; the success of firms now depends more on their intelligence capability
such as employee creativity than traditional material assets (Amabile et al., as cited in Zhou, Zhang
Montoro Sa ́nchez, 2011). The creative capability of individual and collective knowledge workers is
the fuel that powers innovation in firms. While creativity leads to the production of new and useful
ideas in any domain, innovation is the successful implementation of those creative ideas within an
organisation (McLean, as cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sa ́nchez 2011). In highly dynamic business
environments innovation and creativity have become crucial for creating competitive advantages for

The Minerals and Chemicals within Glass
Majority of glass used in our daily glass from jars, bottles, drinking glass and even windows are called
soda lime glass since it uses soda ashes in its production. Glass in general is mainly made out of sand.
In fact, sand alone can be fused to produce glass but it requires a high temperature which is estimated
about 1700°C for the sand to completely melt. However, to mass produce glass, other chemical and
mineral are added to lower the melting temperature to ease the production.
Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) also known as soda ash is mixed with sand to produce a product of 75%
silica (SiO2) and 25% sodium oxide (Na2O). This mixture will melt and fuse at a much lower
temperature of 800°C. Unfortunately, the glass produced with this composition is water soluble which
is also known as water glass. This is not suitable for glass bottle since it need to contain water so, to
stabilise the glass, other chemical substance is mixed into the composition such as calcium oxide
(CaO) and magnesium oxide (MgO). The chemical mixtures are obtained by the addition of lime stone
which produce a pure and inert glass.
The glass produced is originally colourless and transparent. Addition of different chemicals into the
production of the glass results in different colour like green blue or brown. Most of glass bottle
produced have similar composition of chemicals as their ingredients. The composition of chemicals
are 70% 74% SiO2 (silica) 12% 16% Na2O (sodium oxide) 5% 11% CaO (calcium oxide)

Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer
Canterbury Tales
Canterbury Tales written by Geoffrey Chaucer was a story of not the people themselves but a social
statement of how the people of higher standing were viewed by the middle class. In the time that
Canterbury Tales was written it was a time of corruption of the Church. There were many clergy
members that were mentioned in this story. Each of the characters was unique in the way they went
against the standards they should be held to. The most interesting this story was definitely The Friar.
The Friar was a man a bit above the monk, he was supposed to dedicate his life to poverty, he was
supposed to be a beggar for the church. As Chaucer writes in his novel the reader knows just because
that was what was supposed to happen, it never actually happened that way. The Friar that Chaucer
introduces his audience to is one that does the opposite of what his duties actually were supposed to
do. All of this being disguised as a good work. When the audience delves into the information Chaucer
provides, there is a realization that the friar may not be the man good works that he is seen as. The
Friar is seen in his sexual, financial with spiritual and social immorality.
Friars are clergy men with the belief of celibacy in their hearts. This is supposed to help the men focus
only on things that were Godly. This Friar in Chaucer s tale, was obviously different, this Friar knew
much about dalliance and sweet talk (Chaucer 211). The word dalliance is a word that is not

The Existence Of Diabetes Mellitus
The existence of diabetes mellitus was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks when
individuals showed signs of excessive urination, rapid weight loss, and sweet tasting urine. Diagnosis
was, therefore, made by designated water tasters, who drank the urine of potential diabetes patients
searching for a sweet taste. Because diabetes patients are drained of fluids, the Greek philosopher
Apollonius coined the term diabetes for the disease, which means to siphon or to pass through. The
name mellitus originated from Latin and was later added to the term diabetes. (9) For thousands of
years, little information was known about diabetes. The remedies used at the time were largely
ineffective, and many individuals died from diabetes after short life spans. In 1776, Matthew Dobson
discovered that the urine of diabetes patients contained increased concentrations of glucose. In 1797,
John Rollo recognized a link between diet and treatment of diabetes. In 1812, the disease was
clinically recognized in the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery, and the first laboratory
tests were developed to measure the presence of sugar in urine. (9) During the following two hundred
years, the scientific community gained a greater understanding of diabetes and its pathology,
prevention, and treatment. In 1869, Paul Langerhans identified various types of pancreatic cells. In the
early 1900 s, a pancreatic substance was extracted and termed insulin. In the 1920 s,

Television And The Digital Age
For the past century, modern technologies have made the distribution of news and entertainment more
efficient. In the digital age, the media is an imperative element of everyday culture (Silverstone,
2004). There is no denying the indispensability of television as the central hub as represented in the
quotation: In my heart I will take my television set with me. I love you. Suicide note of New York
school boy after his father banned him from watching television (Sunday Times as cited in
Silverstone, 2004). Although the television was once an essential part of the social sphere,
advancements in the internet has developed flexible Streaming Videos On Demand services such as
Netflix and Stan which displace some of the demand for cable and free television. The different
temporalities of both mediums changes the way consumers use these services and thus transforms its
relationship to public life.
HISTORY OF TELEVISION
Television has been an crucial part of the household since the 20th century, as a medium for traditional
households to come together and enjoy a program. The significance of television is encapsulated
through the central placement of the television set in the common household. Traditionally, television
was the main source of news and regarded as the social centre . Everyone had to keep up to date to
engage in water cooler conversations in order to be connected . In the Dailiness in Radio, Television

So Called Same Sex Marriage: Lamenting the New Calamity by John Piper
Jesus died so that heterosexual and homosexual sinners might be saved. Jesus created sexuality, and
has a clear will for how it is to be experienced in holiness and joy.
His will is that a man might leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and that the two
become one flesh (Mark 10:6 9). In this union, sexuality finds its God appointed meaning, whether in
personal physical unification, symbolic representation, sensual jubilation, or fruitful procreation.

The new thing new for America, and new for history is not homosexuality. That brokenness has been
here since we were all broken in the fall of man. (And there is a great distinction between the
orientation and the act just like there is a great difference between my orientation to pride and the act
of boasting.)
What s new is not even the celebration and approval of homosexual sin. Homosexual behavior has
been exploited, and reveled in, and celebrated in art, for millennia. What s new is normalization and
institutionalization. This is the new calamity.
My main reason for writing is not to mount a political counter assault. I don t think that is the calling
of the church as such. My reason for writing is to help the church feel the sorrow of these days. And
the magnitude of the assault on God and his image in man.

The Election Between Lyndon B. Johnson And Barry Goldwater...
The 1964 American election between Lyndon B. Johnson and Barry Goldwater has strong similarities
with the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump. In both cases, the democrat
candidates focused more on their counterpart s rhetoric rather than uphold their own ideas in an
attempt to persuade voters to support them. This essay will argue that the Democrat candidates of the
1964 and 2016 elections, in many instances, instead of focusing on their political proposals, focused
on anti intellectualism by emphasizing their opponent s extremist right winger rhetoric. This
comparison shows the enduring trends of right wing extremism, racial conflicts, and republican
divisiveness. To prove this argument, this text will analyze Democrat campaign advertisements in both
campaigns, Nelson A Rockefeller speech at the 1964 National Republican convention and Jeb Bush
interview to NBC.
In order to compare these two influential elections, one must first have a firm grasp of the
historiography of both elections. The 1964 election was the 45th quadrennial presidential election. It
had a lot of controversy around it due to the Republican nomination of politician and businessman
Barry M. Goldwater for the president run. He outweighed prominent Republican candidates, for
instance, Nelson A. Rockefeller. Goldwater did not have the support of his own party to run the
election and underwent heavy criticism due to his unpopular conservative political position. He faced

That deeper purpose is to turn the spotlight on American consumerism and the rampant materialism
that runs so many Western lives. This can be seen with the two men that are profiled in the film, David
Guess and Jay Helfenbein. Both men have troubles with constant purchasing of goods. David is a
sucker for a good bargain, and as such fills his house and garage with goods that he s found on sale.
Guess openly admits that one of the reason he is constantly making purchases is because buys things

consumerism. Jay, on the other hand, is addicted to home shopping channels and his New York

of the reasons he is presumed to be so addicted is because of the feelings of fulfilment he gets from

Billy Collins Introduction To Poetry Analysis
is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it.
They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really means.
Introduction to Poetry has irregular meter with some lines using iambic pentameter. It is 16 lines made
of 7 stanzas, written in free verse with no set rhyme scheme. This allows the poet to use a variation of
styles and tactics to express the idea of the poem. The author, Billy Collins is an American poet, who
served two terms as Poet Laureate of the United Stated and has been an educator most of his life. He is
currently a Professor of English at Lehman College in New York. This information is important in
understanding Introduction to Poetry, because it is written from the perspective of a teacher explaining
to his students, how poetry should be examined, something Collins has firsthand knowledge of.
Introduction to Poetry compares and contrasts how the poet wants his students to approach poetry, to
the unforgiving nature of their examination, which distorts the intended experience of the poem.
The title sets the scholastic tone. Introduction to Poetry is a course you could find in any college
catalogue, confirming theeducational theme. The word introduction, could also be seen as a subtle hint
of the personification to come at the end of the poem. In each of the first five stanzas, Collins explains
how he wants his students to experience poetry through the senses.
In the first stanza learn the speaker and the subject of the poem and are asked to examine poetry
through sight. The speaker is a teacher, who is trying to show his students various methods of
examining poetry to find it s meaning. The speaker asks the students to take a poem and not read it,
but hold it up to the light like a color slide. A color slide is a small square of cardboard with a film
image in the center that can be put in a projector and viewed on a screen when light is passed through
it. This simile compares a poem to a film transparency, suggesting the need to shed light on the subject
to see the images within it.
Stanza 2 is one line of iambic tetrameter which is convieniently used in the only stanza that references
sound. Here Collins uses the metaphor of a poem being like a bee hive

Anti Social Personality Disorder ( Ocd )
Abuse and neglect during childhood have a strong predisposition to having anti social personality
disorder
In 2013, an estimate of 679, 000 children were abused or neglected (National Children s Alliance,
2013). Abuse and/or neglect history in young adults can have strong impact physically and
emotionally. Previous researchers have found that abuse and/or neglect in young adults can be one

one of the personality disorders that s linked to abuse and/or neglect. APD is characterised by a
pervasive pattern of poor social conformity, deceitfulness , impulsivity, aggressiveness,
irresponsibility, lack of remorse and criminality (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
APD is a well known disorder that researchers have been trying to determine the cause of it. Bierer et

strong predictor to paranoid as well anti social personality disorder. The participants that helped find
these results were either referred from the outpatient psychiatric clinics or referred themselves by

Role Of Investment And Commercial Banks Play On The Global...
Introduction: This paper will examine the roles that investment and commercial banks play in creating
and predicting systemic risk in the global economy. This topic is of particular relevance due to the
events that unfolded in the economic sphere nearly a decade ago during the financial crisis of 2007
2008. Our study will provide a detailed rendering of the crisis, outlining each of the key factors that
contributed to the crash in an attempt to gain a better understanding of what happened and how to
avoid similar events from unfolding in the future. Much of our study hinges on the role of banks on
the markets and their influence over global systemic risk. In order to establish a link between bank
prices and economic trends, we will focus our analysis on one key metric, Value at Risk (VaR). A
powerful statistical measurement, VaR is used to assess a firm s potential loss over a certain period of
time. To generate a diversified and complete quantitative analysis, our calculation will incorporate
pricing data from January 1st, 2000 to November 30th, 2016 of eleven of the most prevalent banks in
the US financial system: Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Citi Bank, Credit Suisse, Deutsche
Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, Royal Bank of Canada, UBS, and Wells Fargo. Our aim is
to establish a predictive correlation between the historical performance of these banks and the markets
in order to avoid downturns such as the financial crisis of 2007 08 from happening in the

The Namesake Chapter Summaries
As I stated earlier the Namesake focuses mainly on the upcoming of Gogol Ganguli. However, the
story changes hands and is told from multiple peoples point of view as the book continues. The main
people who narrate the story are Gogol, Mrs. Ganguli, Mr. Ganguli, and Moushumi. The book which
covers a significant time gap or about thirty years starts off with Mrs. Ganguli pregnant with Gogol.
Gogol was names so after the Russian author Nikolai Gogol. He is named so because his father

Correlation Between the Attack on Pearl Harbor and the...
The events of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 changed not just the American way of life,
but the way in which terrorism will forever be viewed. Moments after the first plane changed our way
of life by crashing into the first tower, it also changed the way people will live their lives for many
generations from that point forward. For the first time on Continental United States soil, America was
under siege. Months after the attack many political figures and citizens wondered about warning signs
and if there were indicators that may have identified a warning or imminent attack. As the attacks
were analyzed a correlation between the attack on Pearl Harbor and New York City had indicators of
imminent attacks.

These messages, intercepted on December 3rd and 4th weren t translated until December 10th. The
messages showed Tokyo asking for information concerning Pearl Harbor. Japan had no reason to ask
for this information, unless it planned to use it to attack ships in the harbor. If translated sooner, these
messages would have warned the US of the imminent attack. Many indicators for Pearl Harbor could
have repeated before the attack on the calm morning on 9 1 1.
In the past, there were many attacks on Americans that were treated as extremist acts and indicators of
continuing attacks against Americans and their targets of opportunity. One premonition of the 9 1 1
attacks occurred on the very site of the actual attack on 9 1 1. On February 26, 1993, the World Trade
Center was attacked by terrorists (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2008). They place a truck loaded
with 1,500 lbs of explosive in the basement structure of the North Tower. Their intention was to topple
it into the South Tower killing thousands. The results were six killed and almost two thousand injured
when the devastation was completed. Closer to the 9 1 1 attack, men with Middle Eastern physical
traits wanted to learn how to fly planes without learning to land them. This should have been an
indicator of hidden agendas which should have raised more alarms.

Satire In Young Goodman Brown
Nathaniel Hawthorne s experience with evil was with his uncle. His uncle was part of the Salem witch
trial, where women were believed to be witches and worshippers of the devil. The trial involves
women burning at stake for the remove sin. Instead of cleansing their sins, they are making it a lot
worse by bloodshed. They noticed what was wrong and decided to stop the trials, but Nathaniel s
uncle did not repent. He believed that what he did was right and should let all women perish. This
background exhibits what nonsense his uncle caused and how he felt during that time. Nathaniel
Hawthorne is trying to prove how ridiculous Puritan ethics of all humans are born sinful through satire
in Young Goodman Brown.
Young Goodman Brown was a Puritan. They believed that one should live life, like how Jesus lived.
Young Goodman Brown showed both innocence and corruptibility. This gives him the name Young
Goodman Brown , which stands between the spectrums of black and white. Goodman is also ironic to

The Snake Charmer, By Jean Leon Gerome And Large Odalisqu
Two art works, The Snake Charmer (1870), by Jean Leon Gerome and Large Odalisqu (1814), by
Ingres are two depictions of the eastern world in a Western viewpoint. Both paintings where painted
by French artists who were portraying a culture and life they have never seen or experienced. Both
artworks were created from the expanding French empire. However, the works are inaccurate
representations of this exotic land, but both are rendered uniquely in their delineation. In The Snake
Charmer, by Jean Leon Gerome, we are given a scene of a young, nude boy, holding a snake and is
facing away from the viewer and towards a audience of various men. We see that it is taking place
taking place in a blue tiled room that is adorned with Arabic shapes and patterns and a foreign writing
that looks similar to Arabic. Gerome used oil to create the painting, rendering it so that the
brushstrokes were very tight and controlled. With this controlled style, he was able to embellish the
work with a lot of details from various cultures such as Egypt, Turkey and India. Adding this detail to
the composition was intended to create a sense of realism to the Western viewer, who would believe it
was accurate to real life due to the work s amount of clarity and intricacy. And with this clarity and
conciseness of stokes, Gerome was able to create false beliefs and impressions of the East to the
viewer. One example would be the nude the boy with the snake; his nudity in front of the crowd

However, only detected events will be classified.
Tricks are found by having high accelerometer at the landing impact after the execution of a trick.
First, area of interest is determined by the highest accelerometer readings. Secondly, the gyroscope
gets the exact time of landing impact within the previous area of interest. Thirdly, the trick time
difference is based on the detected landing impact. An illustration of this is in Fig. 4.
The accelerometer signal is analysed by a sample wise processing of data stream. The detected area is
based on the highest acceleration signal at landing impact. The sum of accelerometer acquired values
will be calculated by the time. And the threshold is set based on athletes, skateboard and ground. If the
sum of accelerometer values goes beyond the declared threshold, at that time. The signal will be the
area of interest. This means each performed trick can have multiple area of interest due to the landing
impact after the trick.
However, hard take off, hard kicks on board, more acceleration is measured on each trick could
exceed the specified threshold and this leads to more area of interest.
Contrary to highest acceleration signal gotten at take off, the gyroscope signal shows the highest
change in signal at landing impact. For all previously detected times and derivative of the gyroscope
signal will be analysed with the interval {ta 1s] to ta +1s]. therefore, L 1 norm of the gyroscope

Barriers To Seeing Batman Patterson
In Freeman Patterson s article Barriers to Seeing an interesting shift takes place in paragraph 12.
Patterson begins to discuss his final barrier to seeing, the camera itself. He cites the Susan Sontag,
who claims that a way of certifying experience, taking photographs is also way of refusing it by
limiting experience to the search for the photogenic, by converting experiences into an image, a
souvenir. This position that Sontag takes shows that she believes that the camera clouds are memories
of an event, only showing the most perfect part. I believe this to be true, with a few limitations.
Sontag s claim that the camera only serves to cloud the memories of those who experience events
definitely has some truth to it. For example, if one were to visit a mountain range, and perhaps a visit a

Benefits Of Subsidizing Stem Classes
College is where you will find many opportunities which is why people should attend college. Many
high paying jobs are out there waiting for someone with the degree they desire to come forth. Not only
will college make you a better person, but will also take you on an unforgettable journey. Some people
may not understand the logic between right, and wrong and what is better than to learn about
philosophical ideas, if the new republic was to flourish and endure, it required, above all, an education
(Singletary 10). Subsidizing STEM classes is a bad idea because lack interest will occur, many jobs
will be at stake, and Arts would be too expensive. In the Education: Does College Still Matter short
passage, Tabarrok thought it would be best that the people who choose STEM degrees, should have
subsidized taxes. There is little justification for subsidizing sociology, dance, and English majors
(Tabarrok 5). This would not be beneficial because it discourages the people who wanted to chase
their dream career. For example, an intelligent female may want to be an English teacher, but knowing
that her journey to get that education will cost drastically more, than she will choose a different career,
leaning more into a STEM career. I think it is selfish for Tabarrak to only want a degree in STEM
while he belittles sociology, dance and English, when society needs those subjects just as much. When
those students who choose the unimportant degree path realize that their taxes

The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell examines the phenomenon of the tipping point: that magic

explain the concept of the tipping point. In my opinion, The Tipping Point is a very captivating book.
Through reading The Tipping Point, I gained insight into what the tipping point is. I learned the three
rules of the tipping point : the Law of the Few , the Stickiness Factor , and the Power of Context . In
the law of the few, Malcolm Gladwell states that there are certain people who contribute to the start of
tipping points who he calls Connectors , Mavens , and Salesmen. Together these three personality
types spread ideas, products, and behaviors throughout the world. I love learning about people and

What secret formula did the playwright William Shakespeare use in the recipe for the tragedy Hamlet?
Why, this play has been the rage for 400 years! Let s analyze the reasons for its success.

character of Hamlet to the rating of the play:
Naturally then, the tragedy of Hamlet with Hamlet left out has become the symbol of extreme

maintains that no other English tragedy has generated the literary comment which this play has
produced: Hamlet is one of the great tragedies. It has generated more comment than any other written
document in English literature, one would guess, reverent, serious comment on it as a serious play
(91). Robert B. Heilman in The Role We Give Shakespeare relates the high ranking of Shakespeare to
the innumerableness of the parts :
But the Shakespeare completeness appears graspable and possessable to many men at odds with each

Technology In The Han Dynasty And The Roman Empire
The Han dynasty and the Roman empire were two of the largest classical empires between 300 BCE
to 300 CE and both experienced a period of expansion. These empires developed technology to help
with this expansion for military and practical purposes such as metallurgy and the water mills. The
Han dynasty used technology to prevent natural disasters, as well as make their tools more efficient,
whereas the Romans took pride in their own civilization s advancements, yet refused to appreciate the
lower class artisans who crafted the tools and artistry.
The Han dynasty showed an appreciation for technology and utilized it to make their society run more
efficiently; Chinese government ensured that adequate technology was provided for the nobles and
commoners alike, while the Roman government officials gave precedence to using technology for
infrastructure improvements and not necessarily towards welfare of the people. During the early 2nd
century BCE, a Han government official wrote to local officials on organizing his labor force

staffed with people who were experienced with the water passage. The official focuses on ordering

these roles, many women have been overlooked as the subject of their own study, and it certainly

Comparison Of Horror Fiction And The Black Cat
To begin , one must understand what the aspect of horror fiction is. Horror fiction to my understanding
is a type of writing that propel certain emotions onto a reader. It more commonly is a piece of writing
that offers the reader the feelings of shock , fear or some form of anxiety. It has been seen that quite
frankly horror stories offer similarities in the forms of brutality, charters turning from that of being
stable to loosing their sanity and lastly being provided with death of a creature, however later finding
out they are in a way still alive. Horror fiction again offers suspense, fear, anxiety and importantly
shock . Poe a writer of horror fiction offers all of these qualities in his short story The Black Cat. Poe

side forming a connection to the stone wall that preceded them. The path continues on, its convex
shape of smooth stone created, suspended in the air. It finds little to care about the stream below,
which meekly runs off to connect to the main pool. As the waterfall finds itself in full view, it is
proudly able to show off the full might it possesses. Continuing, the path soon finds itself at the

Jewish Death And Burial Practices
Introduction
Burial has long been considered an important component of death; it is the mourners final encounter
with the recognizable, substantial body of the deceased. Every culture has to determine how to deal
with the physical remains of the dead, to find a way to honour their memory, and to go on living in a
society that is now deprived of one of its members. Burial traditions and practices have developed
throughout history and around the world to meet this human need. This paper will examine Jewish
death and burial practices from the Old Testament, the Gospels, and other New Testament accounts, as
well as archaeological evidence from first century Palestine; this evidence, when compared to recent
arguments against the burial of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was also the first of seven days of mourning. This mourning took place publicly, either just
outside the entrance of the tomb, or inside the tomb itself..
Burial in the Jewish nation most commonly occurred in a family tomb, usually a cave located outside
the city proper, and therefore away from where people lived. In the Old Testament, the euphemism for
death, slept with his fathers, references the familial tomb (eg. 1 Kings 2:10; 1 Kings 11:43; 2 Kings
15:7,22,38; 2 Chr. 26:2,23).
The Jewish people in the Old Testament showed respect for the dead by providing them with proper
burials. In Scripture, examples of burial of the dead date back to the days of the patriarchs (Sarah,
Gen. 23; Abraham, Gen. 25, Jacob, Gen. 50), the judges (Tola and Jair, Judg. 10; Ibzan, Elon, and
Abdon, Judg. 12), and the kings, both good and evil (Saul, 1 Sam. 31; David, 1 Kings 2; Manasseh, 2
Kings 21; and Josiah, 2 Kings 23).
In keeping with the Mosaic laws, even executed criminals were to be buried promptly, in order to
avoid defiling the land:
When someone is convicted of a crime punishable by death and is executed, and you hang him on a
tree, his corpse must not remain all night upon the tree; you shall bury him that same day, for anyone
hung on a tree is under God s curse. You must not defile the land that the Lord your God is giving you
for possession. (Deuteronomy 21:22 23, New Revised Standard Version)
It was permissible in Jewish culture

  • 2. The Universal Inner Struggle Revealed in Hamlet Essay The Universal Inner Struggle Revealed in Hamlet Life is defined by the struggles it presents us. Without these constant tests of our fortitude, we would never grow as mature human beings. This is the one common denominator linking all people, past, present, and future. It is no mystery why our literature and art reflect this characteristic. The creation of a character is a mirror image of a human. Shakespeare perfectly understood this truth. He crafted Hamlet, Claudius, Polonius, and his many other characters so that they would reflect life and in this way, entertain and educate his audience. Shakespeare s outright goal may have been to simply make money, but along the way, he sculpted beautiful characters filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all of Hamlet s scheming, planning, and thinking, he gets his proof by simply being in the right place, at the right time. The time for words, words, words is over; action is necessary. But again, Hamlet falters. Recognizing the effects of prayer, Hamlet seethes: A villain kills my father, and for that I, his sole son, do this same villain send to heaven (3.3.76 78). The prince is again in a bind. Allowing the reader access to his thoughts makes Hamlet an instantly sympathic character, and quenches the voyeuristic appetite of the reader. Hamlet s struggle is not over, and the reader wonders if he will ever meet an agreeable fate. As Hamlet contends with his internal struggle, he also wrestles with his desire to make his situation better. Like the internal struggle, this need to play the hero is something that the audience can identify with. The only difference is that not everyone has the heart to do it. Accepting the charge from the Ghost, Hamlet swears, O cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right! (2.2.188 89). A father and a king have been slain. And the king s most seeming virtuous queen (1.5.46) has married her husband s brother. Against these great obstacles, Hamlet takes on the noble quest of revenging his father. First, he must set things right with his mother. Vowing to speak daggers to her, but use none (3.2.374), the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Emily Dickinson s Poetry Essay The large amount of poems in Dickinson s collection containing the theme of death is impossible to be overlooked. Approximately one third from her entire collection speaks about the subject, something that for many decades has intrigued fans and scholars alike. In order to understand this fixation, one must study the poet s upbringing and religious conflicts, which are unequivocally at the center of this fascination with the theme of death. Consider by many as the best and least known major American author (Eberwein 1), Dickinson love for poetry began and was encouraged by Benjamin F. Newton, a two year apprentice at her father s law firm, who encourage her in her writing and apparently told her she could become a great poet (Ferlazzo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Dickinson was a very well respected man who had been treasurer for the Amherst College for nearly four decades; he served many times as state legislator, was a great leader within the Amherst community, but most importantly, he was a father with infinite love to his daughter Emily. In a letter after his death, Emily wrote, His heart was pure and terrible and I think no one like it exits. I am glad there is immortality but would have tested myself before entrusting him (Dickinson 528), meaning that she would have preferred dying before her father. Born in December 10, 1830, in Amherst, Massachusetts, Emily grew up in a puritan family surrounded with Calvinist doctrine religious doctrine which stresses that people are saved through God s grace and the necessity of conversion It was this condition for conversion into Christianity what created an internal religious conflict, that led Emily to distancing herself from church, and later to the hundreds of poems and letters in which she rationalized her decision and began to explores the theme of death and salvation In his book titled Emily Dickinson, Paul J. Ferlazzo claims that Dickinson s sense of worry about salvation after death takes many forms in every period of her life. In order to expand on his claim, Ferlazzo offers the following Dickinson s stanza as an example to support his point of view. Those dying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It means assigning human personality traits/characteristics to a brand so as to achieve differentiation. These characteristics signify brand behaviour through both individuals representing the brand (i.e. it s employees) as well as through advertising, packaging, etc. When brand image or brand identity is expressed in terms of human traits, it is called brand personality. • 7. The Minerals and Chemicals within Glass Majority of glass used in our daily glass from jars, bottles, drinking glass and even windows are called soda lime glass since it uses soda ashes in its production. Glass in general is mainly made out of sand. In fact, sand alone can be fused to produce glass but it requires a high temperature which is estimated about 1700°C for the sand to completely melt. However, to mass produce glass, other chemical and mineral are added to lower the melting temperature to ease the production. Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) also known as soda ash is mixed with sand to produce a product of 75% silica (SiO2) and 25% sodium oxide (Na2O). This mixture will melt and fuse at a much lower temperature of 800°C. Unfortunately, the glass produced with this composition is water soluble which is also known as water glass. This is not suitable for glass bottle since it need to contain water so, to stabilise the glass, other chemical substance is mixed into the composition such as calcium oxide (CaO) and magnesium oxide (MgO). The chemical mixtures are obtained by the addition of lime stone which produce a pure and inert glass. The glass produced is originally colourless and transparent. Addition of different chemicals into the production of the glass results in different colour like green blue or brown. Most of glass bottle produced have similar composition of chemicals as their ingredients. • 9. Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer Canterbury Tales Canterbury Tales written by Geoffrey Chaucer was a story of not the people themselves but a social statement of how the people of higher standing were viewed by the middle class. In the time that Canterbury Tales was written it was a time of corruption of the Church. There were many clergy members that were mentioned in this story. Each of the characters was unique in the way they went against the standards they should be held to. The most interesting this story was definitely The Friar. The Friar was a man a bit above the monk, he was supposed to dedicate his life to poverty, he was supposed to be a beggar for the church. As Chaucer writes in his novel the reader knows just because that was what was supposed to happen, it never actually happened that way. The Friar that Chaucer introduces his audience to is one that does the opposite of what his duties actually were supposed to do. All of this being disguised as a good work. When the audience delves into the information Chaucer provides, there is a realization that the friar may not be the man good works that he is seen as. The Friar is seen in his sexual, financial with spiritual and social immorality. Friars are clergy men with the belief of celibacy in their hearts. This is supposed to help the men focus only on things that were Godly. This Friar in Chaucer s tale, was obviously different, this Friar knew much about dalliance and sweet talk (Chaucer 211). • 10. The Existence Of Diabetes Mellitus The existence of diabetes mellitus was first recognized by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks when individuals showed signs of excessive urination, rapid weight loss, and sweet tasting urine. Diagnosis was, therefore, made by designated water tasters, who drank the urine of potential diabetes patients searching for a sweet taste. Because diabetes patients are drained of fluids, the Greek philosopher Apollonius coined the term diabetes for the disease, which means to siphon or to pass through. The name mellitus originated from Latin and was later added to the term diabetes. (9) For thousands of years, little information was known about diabetes. The remedies used at the time were largely ineffective, and many individuals died from diabetes after short life spans. In 1776, Matthew Dobson discovered that the urine of diabetes patients contained increased concentrations of glucose. In 1797, John Rollo recognized a link between diet and treatment of diabetes. In 1812, the disease was clinically recognized in the New England Journal of Medicine and Surgery, and the first laboratory tests were developed to measure the presence of sugar in urine. (9) During the following two hundred years, the scientific community gained a greater understanding of diabetes and its pathology, prevention, and treatment. In 1869, Paul Langerhans identified various types of pancreatic cells. In the early 1900 s, a pancreatic substance was extracted and termed insulin. In the 1920 s, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Election Between Lyndon B. Johnson And Barry Goldwater... The 1964 American election between Lyndon B. Johnson and Barry Goldwater has strong similarities with the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump. In both cases, the democrat candidates focused more on their counterpart s rhetoric rather than uphold their own ideas in an attempt to persuade voters to support them. This essay will argue that the Democrat candidates of the 1964 and 2016 elections, in many instances, instead of focusing on their political proposals, focused on anti intellectualism by emphasizing their opponent s extremist right winger rhetoric. This comparison shows the enduring trends of right wing extremism, racial conflicts, and republican divisiveness. To prove this argument, this text will analyze Democrat campaign advertisements in both campaigns, Nelson A Rockefeller speech at the 1964 National Republican convention and Jeb Bush interview to NBC. In order to compare these two influential elections, one must first have a firm grasp of the historiography of both elections. The 1964 election was the 45th quadrennial presidential election. It had a lot of controversy around it due to the Republican nomination of politician and businessman Barry M. Goldwater for the president run. He outweighed prominent Republican candidates, for instance, Nelson A. Rockefeller. Goldwater did not have the support of his own party to run the election and underwent heavy criticism due to his unpopular conservative political position. He faced the Democrat ... • 17. Billy Collins Introduction To Poetry Analysis is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it. They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really means. Introduction to Poetry has irregular meter with some lines using iambic pentameter. It is 16 lines made of 7 stanzas, written in free verse with no set rhyme scheme. This allows the poet to use a variation of styles and tactics to express the idea of the poem. The author, Billy Collins is an American poet, who served two terms as Poet Laureate of the United Stated and has been an educator most of his life. He is currently a Professor of English at Lehman College in New York. This information is important in understanding Introduction to Poetry, because it is written from the perspective of a teacher explaining to his students, how poetry should be examined, something Collins has firsthand knowledge of. Introduction to Poetry compares and contrasts how the poet wants his students to approach poetry, to the unforgiving nature of their examination, which distorts the intended experience of the poem. The title sets the scholastic tone. Introduction to Poetry is a course you could find in any college catalogue, confirming theeducational theme. The word introduction, could also be seen as a subtle hint of the personification to come at the end of the poem. In each of the first five stanzas, Collins explains how he wants his students to experience poetry through the senses. In the first stanza learn the speaker and the subject of the poem and are asked to examine poetry through sight. The speaker is a teacher, who is trying to show his students various methods of examining poetry to find it s meaning. The speaker asks the students to take a poem and not read it, but hold it up to the light like a color slide. A color slide is a small square of cardboard with a film image in the center that can be put in a projector and viewed on a screen when light is passed through it. This simile compares a poem to a film transparency, suggesting the need to shed light on the subject to see the images within it. Stanza 2 is one line of iambic tetrameter which is convieniently used in the only stanza that references sound. Here Collins uses the metaphor of a poem being like a bee hive ... Introduction: This paper will examine the roles that investment and commercial banks play in creating and predicting systemic risk in the global economy. This topic is of particular relevance due to the events that unfolded in the economic sphere nearly a decade ago during the financial crisis of 2007 2008. Our study will provide a detailed rendering of the crisis, outlining each of the key factors that contributed to the crash in an attempt to gain a better understanding of what happened and how to avoid similar events from unfolding in the future. Much of our study hinges on the role of banks on the markets and their influence over global systemic risk. In order to establish a link between bank prices and economic trends, we will focus our analysis on one key metric, Value at Risk (VaR). A powerful statistical measurement, VaR is used to assess a firm s potential loss over a certain period of time. The Snake Charmer, By Jean Leon Gerome And Large Odalisqu Two art works, The Snake Charmer (1870), by Jean Leon Gerome and Large Odalisqu (1814), by Ingres are two depictions of the eastern world in a Western viewpoint. Both paintings where painted by French artists who were portraying a culture and life they have never seen or experienced. Both artworks were created from the expanding French empire. However, the works are inaccurate representations of this exotic land, but both are rendered uniquely in their delineation. With this controlled style, he was able to embellish the work with a lot of details from various cultures such as Egypt, Turkey and India. Adding this detail to the composition was intended to create a sense of realism to the Western viewer, who would believe it was accurate to real life due to the work s amount of clarity and intricacy. And with this clarity and conciseness of stokes, Gerome was able to create false beliefs and impressions of the East to the viewer. Many high paying jobs are out there waiting for someone with the degree they desire to come forth. Not only will college make you a better person, but will also take you on an unforgettable journey. Some people may not understand the logic between right, and wrong and what is better than to learn about philosophical ideas, if the new republic was to flourish and endure, it required, above all, an education (Singletary 10). Subsidizing STEM classes is a bad idea because lack interest will occur, many jobs will be at stake, and Arts would be too expensive. In the Education: Does College Still Matter short passage, Tabarrok thought it would be best that the people who choose STEM degrees, should have subsidized taxes. There is little justification for subsidizing sociology, dance, and English majors (Tabarrok 5). This would not be beneficial because it discourages the people who wanted to chase their dream career. For example, an intelligent female may want to be an English teacher, but knowing that her journey to get that education will cost drastically more, than she will choose a different career, leaning more into a STEM career. I think it is selfish for Tabarrak to only want a degree in STEM while he belittles sociology, dance and English, when society needs those subjects just as much.
