(Ephesians 4:12-15). To help Christians to "to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ." So that "we are no longer...tossed here and
there...by every wind of doctrine." They may be downloaded and modified free of charge.
Matthew 10:8 …Freely you received, freely give.
6. The Apostle Paul
• Paul wrote more than ½ of the New Testament
books
• Paul alone contends for the gospel in Galatians
2
• Paul wrote most of the doctrine of the church
• After Acts 15 Paul is the only apostle
mentioned
7. Galatians
• Galatians is described by some as a “short Romans”
• Romans has been described as an expansion of
Galatians because of their focus on justification
• Galatians emphasis is on sanctification
• “Justified” is used; 22 X’s in the NIV, 8 X’s in
Romans , 7 X’s in Galatians, only 7 X’s in the entire
rest of the NIV Bible.
• Galatians = Reformation = Freedom from RCC, Law,
Judaism
8. Justified Freely
• Romans 3:24 and are justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
• Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a man is
justified by faith apart from observing the law.
• Romans 4:2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by
works, he had something to boast about — but not
before God.
• Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been
justified through faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
• Romans 5:9 Since we have now been justified by
his blood…
• Romans 10:10 For it is with your heart that you
believe and are justified…
9. What Doctrine Is Emphasized?
• Sanctification is attained the same way as
justification. By the Spirit, not by the Law or flesh.
• The word “Law” is used 34 X’s in Galatians
• 34 of the 272 NT NIV uses = 1/8 of the NT uses
• 0 uses in 2 Cor., Colossians, 1&2 Thess., Philemon.,
1&2 Pet., 2&3 John., Jude, Rev.
• 1 use in Eph., Titus, 1 John
• 2 uses in Philippians.
• Galatians says we have been freed from the Law!
13. Gal 2:1-10
• Gal 2:1-10 = Paul’s gospel examined for The
Truth
• 14 years= probably just after his Damascus Rd.
• Very possibly the 1st. NT book written
14. Gal 2:2, Another Revelation!
• Gal 2:2 I went in response to a revelation and
set before them the gospel that I preach
among the Gentiles. But I did this privately to
those who seemed to be leaders, for fear that I
was running or had run my race in vain.
• Gal 1:1…sent not from men nor by man, but by
Jesus Christ and God the Father…
• Gal 1:14-15…advancing in Judaism….But when
God…called me by his grace…
15. Gal 2:3, Uncircumcised Titus
• Paul takes uncircumcised Titus to the
circumcision headquarters!
• Gal 2:3 Yet not even Titus, who was with me,
was compelled to be circumcised, even though
he was a Greek.
• Why?
16. Gal 2:4, Freedom In Christ Or Slaves
• Gal 2:4 [This matter arose] because some
false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy
on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to
make us slaves.
• Romans 6:6…we should no longer be slaves to
sin…
• Romans 8:2 because through Christ Jesus the
law of the Spirit of life set me free from the
law of sin and death.

19. Gal 2:5, The Gospel Would Be Lost!
• Gal 2:5 We did not give in to them for a
moment, so that the truth of the gospel might
remain with you.
• If surrender to the Law was required, they
wouldn’t have the Gospel.
20. No One Can Keep The Law
• Ac 15:7-11…Peter got up and addressed them:
"Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a
choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from
my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8 God,
who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them
by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9
He made no distinction between us and them, for he
purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you
try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a
yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to
bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our
Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are."
21. No One Can Keep The Law
• NAU Acts 15:10 "Now therefore why do you put
God to the test by placing upon the neck of the
disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we
have been able to bear?
• James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and
yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking
all of it.
• Num 15:32-36…a man was found gathering wood
on the Sabbath day…36 So the assembly took him
outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the
Lord commanded Moses.
22. No One Can Keep The Law
• 2 Ch 34:21…in accordance with all that is
written in this book."
• Dt 26:18…you are to keep all his commands.
• Gal 3:10 All who rely on observing the law are
under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is
everyone who does not continue to do
everything written in the Book of the Law."
23. Gal 2:7, Paul To The Gentiles
• Gal 2:7 On the contrary, they saw that I had
been entrusted with the task of preaching the
gospel to the Gentiles, just as Peter had been
to the Jews.
• Where was the 1st. place Paul started in every
town?
24. Gal 2:7, To The Jew First
• Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of
Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to
every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also
to the Greek. KJV
• Romans 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every
soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and
also of the Gentile; KJV
• Romans 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to
every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and
also to the Gentile: KJV
25. Gal 2:7, To The Jew First
• Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses
in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to
the ends of the earth.“
• Acts 8:1 On that day a great persecution broke out
against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the
apostles were scattered throughout Judea and
Samaria.
• Acts 8:14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard
that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they
sent Peter and John to them.
26. Gospel To The Ends Of The Earth
• Acts 13:46-48 Then Paul and Barnabas answered
them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to
you first. Since you reject it and do not consider
yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to
the Gentiles. 47 For this is what the Lord has
commanded us: "'I have made you a light for the
Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends
of the earth.'" 48 When the Gentiles heard this,
they were glad and honored the word of the Lord;
and all who were appointed for eternal life
believed.
27. Gal 2:9, Pillars= (plural) Popes?
• Galatians 2:9 James, Peter and John, those
reputed to be pillars… Gal 2:2…leaders…
• Acts 12:17 Peter motioned with his hand for
them to be quiet and described how the Lord
had brought him out of prison. "Tell James and
the brothers about this," he said, and then he
left for another place.
• Galatians 2:12…men came from James…
28. Gal 2:9, Pillars= (plural) Popes?
• Acts 15:12-13 The whole assembly became silent
as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about
the miraculous signs and wonders God had done
among the Gentiles through them. 13 When they
finished, James spoke up: "Brothers, listen to me.
• Acts 21:17-19 When we arrived at Jerusalem, the
brothers received us warmly. 18 The next day Paul
and the rest of us went to see James, and all the
elders were present. 19 Paul greeted them and
reported in detail what God had done among the
Gentiles through his ministry.
29. Gal 2:11, I Opposed Him
• Galatians 2:11 When Peter came to Antioch, I
opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in
the wrong.
• This is “to his face,” publicly, because he had led
the “other Jews” into “his hypocrisy.”
• Public heresy demands public rebuke.
• Lev 19:17…Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will
not share in his guilt.
• 1 Tim 5:20 Those who sin are to be rebuked
publicly, so that the others may take warning.
30. Gal 2:11, Why Did He Do It?
• Galatians 2:11… he was clearly in the wrong.
• Why did he do something “clearly in the wrong”?
• Galatians 2:12…because he was afraid of…the
circumcision group.
• Galatians 1:10…If I were still trying to please
men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
• Pr 29:25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare…
31. Gal 2:11, 1st. Pope Wrong Again
• Galatians 2:11… he was clearly in the wrong.
• Mark 14:72 Immediately the rooster crowed the
second time. Then Peter remembered the word
Jesus had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows
twice you will disown me three times." And he
broke down and wept.
• 1 Pet 5:1 To the elders among you, I appeal as a
fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one
who also will share in the glory to be revealed:
32. 2 Part Division Of Acts
• Peter is the key person in chapters 1-12;
• Paul is the key person in chapters 13-28.
• Acts 12:17 Peter motioned with his hand for
them to be quiet and described how the Lord
had brought him out of prison. "Tell James and
the brothers about this," he said, and then he
left for another place.
• That almost ends the story of Peter’s ministry
in Acts. Acts 15:7 does end the story of Peter’s
ministry in Acts.
37. Gal 2:13, Paul Stood Alone
• Gal 2:13 The other Jews joined him [Peter] in his
hypocrisy…
• 2 Ti 4:16-17 At my first defense, no one came
to my support, but everyone deserted me.
May it not be held against them. 17 But the
Lord stood at my side and gave me strength,
so that through me the message might be fully
proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.
38. Gal 2:14, You Live Like A Gentile
• Gal 2:14…I said to Peter in front of them all,
"You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and
not like a Jew…
• Before or after Acts 10?
• Peter could have had knowledge, but
knowledge isn’t always enough;
• Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit;
• Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
40. Galatians 2:16,
Works Justification?
• NAU Galatians 2:16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not
justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus,
even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified
by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the
works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
• NAU James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works
when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that
faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works,
faith was perfected;
• NAU James 2:25 In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also
justified by works when she received the messengers and sent
them out by another way?
• NAU Luke 5:32 "I have not come to call the righteous but sinners
to repentance." 40
42. Gal 2:17, Christ Promotes Sin?
• Gal 2:17 "If, while we seek to be justified in
Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves
are sinners, does that mean that Christ
promotes sin? Absolutely not!
• Luke 5:32 I have not come to call the
righteous, but sinners to repentance."
43. Galatians 2:18, Jamieson, Fausset, and
Brown says concerning,
• Galatians 2:18 If I rebuild what I destroyed, I prove
that I am a lawbreaker.
• “Greek, 'For if what things I overthrow (by the faith
of Christ), these things I build again (namely, legal
righteousness, by subjecting myself to the law), I
constitute (literally, I commend) myself a
transgressor' (answering to 'we were found
sinners'). Instead of commending yourself as you
sought (Gal 2:12, end), you merely commend
yourself as a transgressor…”
46. Gal 2:21, Christ Died For Nothing?
• Gal 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God,
for if righteousness could be gained through
the law, Christ died for nothing!“
• Mt 26:39…"My Father, if it is possible, may this
cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as
you will.“
• John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and
the truth and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through me.
49. 1 Peter 5:13
Peter Was In Babylon Not Rome
• NAU 1 Peter 5:13 She who is in Babylon,
chosen together with you, sends you
greetings, and so does my son, Mark.
49
50. Romans 12:6,
Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?
• NAU Romans 12:6 Since we have gifts that differ
according to the grace given to us, each of us is to
exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the
proportion of his faith; 7 if service, in his serving; or he
who teaches, in his teaching; 8 or he who exhorts, in his
exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads,
with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
• If the RCC is correct in its sacerdotalism (priestism) don't
you think that the gift/office of Priest, Cardinal, or Pope
would have been mentioned somewhere in the New
Testament for the church.
5

51. Romans 12:6,
Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?
• Instead, the New Testament clearly teaches the priesthood
of all believers;
• NAU Acts 8:4 Therefore, those who had been scattered
went about preaching the word.
• NAU Acts 8:38 And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they
both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch,
and he baptized him. [without getting permission from some
higher authority]
• NAU 1 Thessalonians 1:8 For the word of the Lord has
sounded forth from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia,
but also in every place your faith toward God has gone forth,
so that we have no need to say anything.
5
1
52. Romans 12:6,
Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?
• NAU 1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a
special gift, employ it in serving one another as
good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is
speaking the utterances of God; whoever
serves is to do so as one who is serving by the
strength which God supplies; so that in all
things God may be glorified…
5
2
53. Romans 12:6,
Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?
• NAU 1 Peter 2:5 you also, as living stones, are
being built up as a spiritual house for a holy
priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6… 7 This
precious value, then, is for you who believe; …9
But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD,
A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the
excellencies of Him who has called you out of
darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once
were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE 5
3
54. Romans 12:6,
Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?
• NAU 1 Peter 5:1 Therefore, I exhort the elders
among you, as your fellow elder and witness of
the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of
the glory that is to be revealed, 2 shepherd the
flock of God among you, exercising oversight
not under compulsion, but voluntarily,
according to the will of God; and not for sordid
gain, but with eagerness; 3 nor yet as lording it
over those allotted to your charge, but proving
to be examples to the flock. 5
4
55. Romans 12:6,
Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, Pope?
• NAU Revelation 1:6 and He has made us to be
a kingdom, priests to His God and Father…
• NAU Ephesians 3:10 so that the manifold
wisdom of God might now be made known
through the church to the rulers and the
authorities in the heavenly places.
5
5
56. Romans 15:20,
Peter Was Not In Rome
• NAU Romans 15:20 And thus I aspired to preach the gospel, not
where Christ was already named, so that I would not build on
another man's foundation;
• NAU Romans 1:15 So, for my part, I am eager to preach the
gospel to you also who are in Rome.
• The church in Rome must have been established by the Jews who
returned after; NAU Acts 2:10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and
the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome,
both Jews and proselytes,
• NAU 1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an [no definite article, also in 2 Peter 1:1] apostle of Jesus
Christ..
• NAU 1 Peter 5:1 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as
your fellow elder… 3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to
your charge…
56
57. Romans 15:20,
Peter Was Not In Rome
• Peter was the apostle to the Jews, in Jerusalem. Paul was the
apostle to the Gentiles.
• NAU Galatians 2:8 (for He who effectually worked for Peter in
his apostleship to the circumcised effectually worked for me
also to the Gentiles),
• NAU Galatians 2:2…I went up [to Jerusalem]; and I submitted to
them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles… 9 …
James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars…
11 But when Cephas [NKJ Peter] came to Antioch, I opposed him
to his face, because he stood condemned.
• NAU 1 Peter 5:13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with
you, sends you greetings, and so does my son, Mark.
