Students may point out that this type of economy required slave labor and that the development

DBQ 2: The Reasons for Declaring Independence in 1776 From previous instruction in American
history at earlier grade levels, students often have in mind the idea that unfair taxation and trade
restrictions caused English colonists to declare their independence. This DBQ asks them to
consider such economic factors and weigh them against an array of other possibilities, some of
which are suggested in the question. Students must consider factors and provide a rationale for
which of these sets of ideas is of greater importance. Once again, the results of students analyses
will differ, but a convincing rationale must be provided in each essay. Some good background
articles for teachers to read as they teach the topics related to this DBQ are on the Advanced

Discuss The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Malaysia s Security
This paper will analyze the weakness of decision making processes regarding Malaysia s security
and provide evidence in supporting this statement. The scandal of Scorpene s submarines and
the policies made by the MKN will be the main evidence in analyzing the weaknesses of the
decision making process regarding Malaysia s security. In 2002, the reputation and reliability of
Malaysia s security system have been challenged after the leak of the scandal involving the
purchase and sale of highly confidential Malaysian government defense documents to a French
defense company. It also includes the transaction of RM 7.3 billion deal to purchase 2 SSK
Scorpene Submarines for a kickback worth EUR 114 million from DCNS to Perimekar and this is

As far as we know, Malaysia perceives itself as a democratic country and in fact of that, all
democratic values must be practices truthfully, for example, the decision making processes that
should be discussed with the member of the parliament before any decision, law, and other
related things are implemented. The Akta 776 of Majlis Keselamatan Negara already shows the
flaws of Malaysia as a democratic country when the Malaysia s security power is put under the
power of the Prime Minister alone. This Act will reduce the power of Parliament as a place to
discuss regarding the issues or threat perceives by Malaysia. In order to maintain the security of
this country, and to deter the internal and external threats, all members whether the government or
the opposition must work together to come out with the better ideas and find a good solution
regarding the problems this country faces. Furthermore, this Act also usurpation the His Majesty s

Leadership Of Joan Of Arc
There have been many astonishing military leaders. From Alexander the Great, to Julius Caesar,
to Constantine the Great, and to Saladin. However, how many female military leaders do you
know? Joan of Arc is one of the most successful female leaders out there. Before she led an army,
Joan was just an ordinary peasant living in medieval France. She believed that God had selected
her to lead a victory over England. She convinced prince Charles of Valois to allow her to lead a
French army to the confined city of OrlГ©an, where it achieved a momentous victory over the
English and their French allies, the Burgundians. After the prince was crowned King Charles VII,
Joan was seized by Anglo Burgundian forces. She was then tried for witchcraft along with heresy,
and was found guilty. Since she was found guilty, she was burned at the stake in 1431, at the age
of 19. In 1920 she was canonized, but had long been considered one of the greatest saints, and an
permanent symbol of French unity. Joan of Arcwas from the village of DomrГ©my, in
northeastern France. She was the daughter of a tenant farmer, named Jacques d Arc. In fact, Joan
of Arc is the translated English name. Her real name is Jeanne d Arc. Joan was not taught to read
or write, but instead taught to love her Catholic Church and its teachings. During this time, France
was at war with England. (which is later known as the Hundred Years War) When she was 13, Joan
began to hear voices. She decided that these voices were sent

Mother Daughter Relationship In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck
One of the main themes in The Joy Luck Club, is the relationship between mother and daughter,
because the entire story revolves around the sacrifices made by mothers for their daughters, even
going so far as to sacrificing a literal piece of them selves to give their mother a small boost of time
in life. In this essay I will be conveying the theme of motherdaughter relationships through real
world and literature comparing. In the joy luck club, a daughter is recalling the stories about her
mother s past seeing how much she gave up for her in the stories she s been told. Seeing how her
mother wished for her to be able to have a life without sorrow unlike her own. Though her daughter
only realizes all this after her mother dies. We learn that

Was The American Revolution Inevitable Dbq
Was the American Revolution inevitable? According to John Adams in 1818, the desire for
independence was already in the hearts of Americans long before war broke out in 1775. This was
untrue for many loyalists living in the colonies in 1775. However, there was simply nothing the
mother country could do to stop her colonies from wanting to move on from its natural state of
identity in order to grow into a unique and independent country. To begin with, Richard Bland in his
1766 An Inquiry Into the Rights of the British Colonies believed that America should be
independent as to their internal government, of the original Kingdom, but united with her, as to
their external policy... (Doc A). The Navigation Acts were an example of external acts,

The Stamp Act required colonists to purchase stamped paper for every legal document, license,
and newspaper and imposed special stamped duties on packages of playing cards and dice. All
who disobeyed the Act were to be tried in the vice admiralty courts. By May of 1765, Boston
shopkeepers, artisans, and laborers united in a resistance group called Sons of Liberty. By the
end of the summer, the Sons of Liberty harassed customs workers, stamp agents, and royal
governors faced mob threats and hence stamp agents resigned all over. The Act was to become
effective on November 1st, 1765, but colonial protests prevented stamped paper from being
sold. In the month of October, 1765, delegates from nine colonies met in NYC. Congress issued
a Declaration of Rights and Grievances: it stated that Parliament lacked power to impose taxes
on the colonies because they were not represented in Parliament. This was the first time in which
colonies began to set aside their differences and unite as one. Eventually, the Act was repealed
and in 1766, Parliament issued the Declaratory Act: it addressed Parliament s full right to make
laws in all cases whatsoever . The Tea Act was made in 1773 and it granted the East India
Company the right to sell directly to the colonies, free of taxes, this would cut colonial merchants
out of the tea trade because the company would sell for less. On December

Abstract : Due to recent improvement technologies in wireless communication ,there has been a
fastest growth in wireless sensor networks technologies during the past few years. Many different
architectures as well as algorithms and applications have been determined and implemented. The
efficiency of these wireless sensor networks is as much as dependent on routing protocol directly
affecting the network life and in wireless sensor network every sensor has a limited transmission
range of every sensor node to obtain the sensing data. Due to this limitation of wireless sensor
network Clustering of node is most popular techniques preferred in routing operations. In this paper,
cluster based energy efficient clustering technique based on artificial bee colony algorithm and
genetic algorithm is presented to increase the network lifetime. The name of artificial bee colony
algorithm is come from bees cause It has been inspired by collective behavior of Bees as seeking
food. To minimize the energy consumption it is significant to plan a data collection path with
the minimum length to complete the data collection work. So in this paper, we determine that this

Speech on Twins
Speech on Twins In the United States there are thousands of babies born every day but how
many of them are twins? Twins today are more common than they once were. There is actually a
3 percent chance that if you are pregnant right now you could be having twins. Twins are
something miraculous and special. I have had the pleasure of meeting seven different sets of
twins in my life time thus far. Only one set is older than I am while the rest range from juniors in
high school to just starting pre school. Today, I am going to talk to you about three things. First I
am going to discuss the bond that most sets of twins share. Secondly I will address individuality

The Diverse Roles of Women in Movies Essay
The Diverse Roles of Women in Movies
In society we have a lot of women actresses. Some tend to play the motherly type, some play the
manipulator type and some even play the victims of abusive relationships. No matter what women
seem to be coming up in the industry of movies in more ways than before. The three movies I have
chosen to analyze in my critique are Heartbreakers, Baby Boy and Stepmom. These three movies
all have women in them that either play a major role or the main role. All their roles are very
different in character and none of the women in these three movies play a similar role.
In the movie Heartbreakers the two main women are Jennifer Love Hewitt (the daughter) and
Sigourney Weaver (the mother). These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second movie in which a woman plays a major role in is Baby Boy. This movie, I believe
did not do too much damage to the box offices when it first came out, but it sure portrayed
women in a very negative way. The main character is actually a man by the name of Tyrese
Gibson. He plays a boy who is struggling to grow up and become not only an independent adult,
but also a responsible father (to more than one child). The main female role in the movie is
Tyrese s baby s mother. She is in love with him and would do anything to keep him happy. She let
s him use her car and she let s him stay at her place at any time with her and their son. He cheats
on her a lot and at one point even hits her. This was a major part in the movie. He had promised
her he would never lay his hands on her and he did. She stopped talking to him for quite some
time, and that whole time you could sense they were both miserable without eachother. Some men
tend to hurt women for the simple facts that they just don t know how to control their anger or
because they were never taught good communication skills. They end up telling one another that
they can t live without each other and they get back together. She ends up getting pregnant by him
again and they get married and live happily ever after. Moral of the story: Teens trying to balance

The Significance of Kokoda
The significance of Kokoda for Australian s can be seen in many different ways. In a strategic
sense and also in a symbolic sense. Firstly, the Kokoda Campaign saved Australia from possible
invasion, or more precisely from being isolated from the United States of America . Secondly,
Kokoda was the battle that lead to victory in the Second World War, as well as to improvement of
Australia s post war practices and military operations. Symbolically, the Kokoda Track will be
remembered when Australia s think of the Second World War, just like when you think of the First
World War, the landing at Gallipoli looms large, both have captured the Australian imagination.
Each year five thousand Australians take up the mentally and physically... Show more content on

As the Kokoda fighting began in July 1942 , the scheme of both sides was in transition. The
Japanese felt it was time to defend their gains, and halt the fighting and advancing. But the Allies
were thinking differently. Having massive amount troops, ships, aircraft and supplies in New
Zealand and Australia, they made the decision to launch a counterattack to defend and retake some
of the islands that were occupied by the Japanese. Papua had no particular resource that they
desired, but it was a useful link in the chain of defences of the newly conquered area of Japan. So
because Japan was quickly gaining new lands closer to Australia, posing a threat to Australia s
safety, the battle of Kokoda was the most important Australian fought victory, in terms of winning
the war. The campaign helped to shape Australia s post war training practices and military
operations. Although it was not they first victory against Japan, it allowed the allies to make thrust
forward through island hopping and ultimately win the war. Kokoda was the battle that ended Japan
s dominance and permitted the Allies to go on the offence. Australia greatly learned from their
Kokoda experience, and subsequently improved their strategic thinking. They learned to not purely
rely on naval defences, and realised that they cannot just let other countries dot the fighting. ...the
modern Australian professional army was

Bribing Corrupt Bureaucrats Might Not Be a Terrible Idea...
This is an excellent way to show that as a human race we are constantly looking for a mode of
perfection but that mode is never there because we can never find it. What we can do is to get
as close as possible to the ideal situation. This ideal situation should mean that there is some form
of Pareto efficiency in the system and most people stand to benefit. If the value system allows for
the existence of some classes to gain more than others this will create inequality. In such a case the
government will always try to change policies to make the shift. But then the problem is that
sooner of later another class will prevail of the current ruling classes will continue to hold some
positions of power that will allow them to keep their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exposition of the IT is also a contributor towards this. The Gandhian morality of not
showcasing your wealth no longer holds true when a certain business man in Mumbai builds a
27 storied building for a family of 5. The economic prowess of the nation is hence showcased by
such successful entrepreneurs. The height of the positives of economic reforms took place when
India can acheievd a growth rate of 9% in 2007 . Today India is known as among the 10 largest
economies of the world.
But having stated all this, it needed to note that India still stands poorly in world social
parameters. We still are amongst the pooter nations of the world. Poverty ranks are still high. We
are one of the most corrupt nations in the world and indexes do not rank us well. Socially our
parameter are not high. This will sooner or later reflect upon our economics as well. This will be
demonstrated in the rest of the essay. Corruption is considered bad and after the several scams that
have hit India over the apst 4 5 years we have clearly not changed things. But there are studies that
suggest otherwise.
The 2005 paper suggests that bribing bureaucrats might not be such a bad idea. This is because the
corrupt bureaucrats can force the government into talking helpful measures. The need for these
measures might be a result of the demands from the bribers who expects some changes from the
corrupt bureaucrats. The economy could benefit

How Have Tattoos Changed Over Time
Tattoos have been around since 450 BC, it was used to mark the criminals and those fallen from
social grace. But since then or since the Europeans discovered the New World and the tattooed
tribes, its concepts has changed many times. You could classify the different changes in six eras in
the tattoo history; the colonist or pioneer Era, the circus or carnival Era, the working class era, the
rebel era, the new age era and presently the supermarket era. The colonist or pioneer era was
between the 1760s and 1870s is when the Europeans discovered tattoos amongst Native American
tribes such as Hawaiians and Borneans whose tattoos had spiritual meaning, it was a way to protect
themselves from physical harm and snakebite. But after their introduction with the Europeans...

It was only a century later Maori men and women began to tattoo their faces again. In 1880s to the

European wanted to join the circus to earn money but, they were refused because they were of
European decent. So they made up a story that they were kidnapped by Native Americans and
were forcibly tattooed, though most of their tattoos were American symbols, people still
admired them because they signified brutality and escape. During this time a new machine was
invented by Samuel O Reilly in 1891, to make tattoos more easily to apply and less painful. In
1920 to 1950s it is the working class era, due the circus tattoos have started to become popular, it
led to the start of tattoo parlours which were hidden in dark alleys and behind pool halls, so they
were characterized by poverty and crime. Tattooists made improvement to O Reilly machine by

An explicit motif that was introduced was Norma s 1929 Isotta Fraschini car. Which is a widely
desired car that even the studios wanted to use it in a movie. The car represents how as time
goes by nonliving items gain value and people like Norma loose value to others like how the
directors don t want to have old actors in new movies but want old cars in new movies. A
symbol in the movie is the implicit and explicit pictures of Gloria Swanson in her younger days
as an actress in real life. The symbol is that Norma can not get over her past accomplishments to
live in the present day. Her glorifications in life is only of her movies now that she is out off the
business, the pictures are only there to remind her of those days and retrospect make her feel
less good about herself as a person and actress. She still thinks people remember her by sending
her fan mail but in turn that is only her butler max sending her them so she has something to be
happy about. The third symbol is the graves, which represent her second and third husbands
which like joe had enough of her crazy obsession with her past and wanted to leave but they
were the only ones to keep her happy so she killed them when they threated to leave her so they
could always be with her. Joe noticed them in the beginning in the movie with a empty grave
beside them unknown to Joe that that grave as for the monkey at the time but in a few short

Golgi Research Paper
The nucleus contains chromosomes in which the DNA encodes proteins. The mRNA molecules
transcribed from the DNA leave through the nuclear pores in the nuclear envelope to attach to free
ribosomes or ribosomes on the rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (rER). mRNA molecules try to bind
to ribosomes as they contain ribosomal RNA(rRNA) transcribed from DNAin the nucleolus. The
attachment of mRNA allows proteinsynthesis to occur at the ribosome, producing proteins in their
primary structure. These polypeptide chains then travel through the rER where they are packaged
and pinched off into little vesicles and carried to the Golgi complex. They are then chemically
modified and folded into newly synthesised proteins which can then leave the cell (exocytosis)
through secretory vesicles produced at the Golgi complex.

Phospholipids
Phospholipids form the basis of the plasma membrane structure. As a main component of the
membrane they form bilayers with two layers of phospholipid molecules facing inwards, opposite
one another. They are arranged in this manner as the phosphate heads are hydrophilic meaning they
are attracted to water. They can therefore interact with water in the cytoplasm and with water
surrounding the cell. The hydrophobic tails of the two phospholipid layers therefore point inwards
towards each other as they repel water. The lipid component of the bilayer allows lipid soluble
molecules across the membrane.
Proteins
Proteins are scattered throughout the bilayer and are imbedded in two ways.
Intrinsic proteins are generally classified as the larger proteins within the bilayer and are extended
across both layers of the membrane. Some of these are carrier proteins transporting water soluble
substances across and others are channels which allow the transport of

Research On Foreign Direct Investment
To interested investing parties, After long consideration from our management team, we have
decided to introduce a contingent set of initiatives corresponding to Foreign Direct Investment in
Ethiopia. There has been a considerable rise of FDI opportunities recently within Ethiopia. The
following document will discuss; cultural, political, as well as economic trends and patterns that
influenced our outlook on FDI into Ethiopia. Moreover, this memo will analyze the potential risks
and or barriers to entry, foreign firms could encounter when attempting FDI to Ethiopia. Lastly, our
team will aim to outline a proposed plan relating to FDI in Ethiopia for our organizational business
partners. There were many sources of information which influenced our Foreign Direct Investment
conclusion for Ethiopia such as; research on cultural, political, and economic factors ongoing
currently in Ethiopia. Additionally, our group is a combination of Foreign Direct Investment
specialists including two Ethiopian counterparts residing within Ethiopia. Hence, a part of our
investment plan includes first hand direct insider Ethiopian research, conducted from Ethiopia.
Accordingly, the strategies developed, by our management team, for FDI in Ethiopia have been
formulated using high business acumen and business analytics pertaining to present Ethiopian
economic conditions. Seemingly, one will see from these proposed FDI initiatives that Ethiopia is

MIH Treatment Treatment approaches The available treatment modalities for MIH is extensive
but the decision on which treatment should be used is complex and multi factorial. Factors may
include: condition severity, the patient s dental age, the child/parent s social background and
expectations. [1] Prevention Prevention is of prior importance at an early developmental age as
the defective tooth is more likely to have caries and post eruptive breakdown due to its increased
porosity. [1] Appropriate dietary advice and toothpaste with a fluoride level of at least 1,000 ppm F
should be recommended. [2] For treating spontaneous hypersensitivity, professional applications of
fluoride varnish (e.g. Duraphat 22,600ppm F) or 0.4% stannous... Show more content on

[8] Creamy yellow or whitish creamy defects are less porous and variable in depth [6], and may
respond to microabrasion with 18% hydrochloric acid or 37.5% phosphoric acid and abrasive
paste. [9] [10] Again, this should be undertaken cautiously as microabrasion may result in loss of
enamel. [11] Cavity Design There is still much debate of whether margin extension should
include removal of all defective enamel or only the porous enamel. The former provides sound
enamel for bonding but leads to excessive tooth tissue loss, the latter is less invasive, but the
margins may have a high risk of breakdown due to defective bonding. [1] Yet, it is agreed that
adhesive restorations should be used as opposed to those reliant upon mechanical retention
(such as amalgam). [12] Glass ionomer cement (GIC) restorations. GIC materials have adhesive
capabilities with both enamel and dentine, long term fluoride release and hydrophilicity when
there is inadequate moisture control intra orally, during early post eruptive stages. However
GIC s poorer mechanical properties suggest avoidance in stress bearing areas. In later post
eruptive stages GIC may be valuable as sub layer beneath composite restorations. [1] Composite
resin restorations Composite resin material has been shown to have longer term stability in MIH
teeth, with a median survival rate of 5.2 years [13] and a success rate of 74% 100% [14] [12]
during a 4 year follow up period. Self etching adhesive was found to have

Popular Culture at the Beginning of the 1960 s Essay
Popular Culture at the Beginning of the 1960 s
1960 s Britain had not yet developed its own style and was still in America s shadow. Britain was
dominated by 1950 s fashion and traditional values. But there were elements of change developing
in radio, TV and theatre and this is what I m going to explore.
At the beginning of the 1960 s music was still heavily influenced by America. During the 1950 s
everyone was listening to Elvis Presley but by the late 1950 s / early 60 s new elements entered
the music industry including new British artists. In 1959 Billy Fury, Cliff Richard and Adam Faith
all appeared in the charts. They started to produce records basing their songs and styles on Elvis

Jackie Kennedy became a new fashion icon, wearing shifts and A line dresses which had been
designed in 1954/5 but not worn till 1960. They soon became popular. It gave women a new
sense of freedom and allowed them to dress in their own way. Mary Quant opened her first shop in
Carnaby Street which soon became very popular. She opened the way for a new generation of
British fashion.
The third type of popular culture controlled by America was film. The British film industry was in
decline. Most films in the cinema were American, such as West Side Story and Psycho . A new
brand of film featuring pop stars interested lots of teenagers. 1960 saw the start of something new
in cinema, the Carry On films. They showed a new British humour which people had never seen in
films before. Other films were gritty and realistic, that showed the working class and set the scene
for what was to come.
In Britain, radio was also starting to show are more distinctive style. It became one of the main
sources of entertainment with shows like The Goon Show . This surreal comedy became very
popular. Another well liked radio show was Beyond the Fringe , a satirical comedy that criticized
the way the country was run in a light hearted comedic way. But this made people think more about
politics and changed the way people thought.
TV was also starting to become very popular

Employers and employees have the legal duty to ensure that the working environment is a safe and
secure one.
Employer responsibilities are: to ensure, so far as it is reasonable practicable, that the working
environment is a secure and healthy one for all employees and for other persons that may come in
contact assuring that all the information is drawn to everybody s attention.
On the other hand the Employee s responsibilities are: When doing their job, take care not to harm
themselves or the others Respect the rules and co operate with employers in order to meet the
statutory requirements Not to misuse anything provided to protect their safety, health and welfare
2. Explain the purpose of following health, safety and security procedures in a business
environment.
Having specific procedures regarding health, safety and security and follow them is a very
important aspect in a business environment.
One reason for following the health, safety and security procedures is the legal aspect. Both the
employers and employee must comply with the law and rules: the organisation must take specific
actions (prepare documentation on the procedures and choosing personnel to be responsible for this
aspect), the staff and other persons must respect the procedures.
Another reason is the moral one: the purpose of following the procedures is to make sure no one
comes to any harm. This aspect refers to both of the parties (the

My Freshman Year Of High School Was The Year Of The 2008
My freshman year of high school was the year of the 2008 presidential election, it was during
this election cycle of Obama and McCain that I fell in love with politics. While I was in high
school, I decided that I wanted to major in political science and become a public servant. Thus,
my dream job was to run and be elected to the United States Congress. When participating in the
requirements for the Garnet and Gold Scholars Society, I realized that my experiences in services,
leadership, and having an internship have greatly complemented each other on the fact that they
involve some form of politics and working with or for a public servant. This is because, I
completed my internship requirement with the Al Lawson for Congress Campaign, I... Show more

In the beginning, I thought that a ton of people worked on a campaign and that it was very
difficult to work there, because there was a lot of previous knowledge and experiences needed.
However, I learned after interning there that the staff is very small, and that the two biggest focus
in a campaign are fundraising in the beginning and then field work at the end. Field work is
basically canvassing, phone banking, placing out yard signs, and attending events. The reason why
these task is so important is because it is the easiest and cheapest way to get the name of the
candidate out to voters. Without field work the large majority of consitiuents wouldn t know who
the candidate is and what office they are running for, in addition when meeting with voters I could
talk to them about why I wanted to vote for Al Lawson, what his platforms where, and answering
any questions that they had. Hopefully, after they finished speaking with me on election day they
would be more likely to vote for him. Through my experiences in services, leadership, and my
internship, I have learned how important it is to be involved as a leader in the betterment of my
community, while actively pursuing an activity that I was passionate about, because only through
passion could I find enjoyment in what I was doing. I absolutely loved my internship, my volunteer
work, and my leadership role as the Director of Policy with the Campaign

C-Reactive Protein Research Paper
Why am I having this test? High sensitivity C reactive protein (hs CRP) test is done to determine
the level of C reactive protein in your body. Results from this test are used to estimate your risk
of heart and blood vessel diseases, including heart attack and stroke. You may have this test if
you are a man aged 50 years or older or a woman aged 60 years or older. What is being tested? In
this test, the level of C reactive protein in your blood is measured. C reactive protein is a protein
made by your liver. When there is inflammation in your body, the level of C reactive protein goes

Essay On Lord Of The Flies Fire Symbolism
In the United States in 2015, One home structure fire was reported every
86 seconds (National Fire Protection Association). As a result, Fire could be destructive or
hopeful ( in some situations such as rescue). A signal fire can be used to alert people of your
situation. An example of this in Lord of the Flies. In
Lord of the Flies, the fire, symbolizes hope, civilization, destruction.
At the beginning of Lord of the Flies, the fire symbolizes hope that somebody would rescue them
off the island. It shows their determination. In
Golding s Lord of the Flies, the symbolism of the fire being hope is present, as shown through,

African American Women In Prison
When individuals are sent to prison, many are forgotten, disregarded, and deemed worthy of being
there. The high stress environment is simply unlivable for many Americans and the exploitation of
the prison system is used to steer many in the right direction. However, the mental health of these
prisoners, especially female prisoners, is more ignored than ever. Research findings reveal the need
for advocating and help to these women. The rate of men going to prisonis increasing by 2.7%,
however, the rate for women going to prison is increasing by 4.8% showing a greater disparity
(Hatton and Fisher, 1304). Within that population, African American women are seven times more

With the authors of this journal being registered nurses and having seen the first hand accounts of
these disparities, how these cries continued to be ignored. With these female inmates coming from
low income backgrounds, being often undereducated, and having few work skills (Hatton and
Fisher, 1305), many of the stresses of life added on to the societal expectations of women can
easily manifest into a valid psychological defect that can hinder them for the rest of their lives.
Reports also show extensive histories of childhood and adult violence, including both physical and
sexual assault (Hatton and Fisher, 1305), adding to the stressors, and causing an even worse decline
in mental health. Yet, the lack of awareness and/or contributions to a fixable solution is as prevalent
as mental illness amongst these imprisoned women. The goal of these institutions should be
rehabilitation of these individuals, giving them a second chance, though it has fallen from its
original purpose and now has become about control and power.
Like many issues in America, the conversation is yet to be had about the mental health of women
in prisons/jails. As stated by Hatton and Fisher, identifying these pathways, creating programs, and
aligning this issue with political parties and major organizations (1306), this issue can finally be
on the road to recovery, helping to break the cycle of reentry into prisons/jails and bettering the
lives of individuals as well as their

is that his family life, friend life, and love life was not a cake walk. Actually, he encountered
major hits and these hits attempted to teach him an alternative narrative, or label him as
something different from what God said he was. He could have easily believed that he was an

Relationship Between Bitter Flavors And Bitter Flavor
Abstract
The realization of this experiment had as main objective to show the relationship between the bitter
flavor in spinach and the bitter flavor in Phenylthiocarbamide (PTC). In many past studies about
this relationship the results have shown that there is a significant difference between the bitter taste
in some vegetables and the bitter flavor present in PTC (Sandell Breslin,2006). In order to
approve or disapprove this hypothesis 19 students in the same class were tested to see if they
tasted the bitter flavor in spinach. The spinach leaves were blended with mango juice using a
blender machine. The result of this part of the experiment were recorded in a table to be
analyzed. The results showed that 26.3% of the subjects were super tasters of the spinach
(indicating that they tasted the bitter flavor). In contrast about 73.7% of the same subjects were
considered to be super tasters for the PTC (grading the bitter flavor 4 or 5 in a 5 scale; being 5
the maximum for bitterness). In conclusion it can be say that this two results were not very related.
This experiment can be used to further analyze how some vegetables may have bitter flavor and
not be correlated to the bitter taste in PTC.
Introduction
PTC which stands for phenylthiocarbamide is a chemical compound that has been used as an
instrument to test taste sensitivity to bitter flavor (Kim Drayna, 2004). In the early 1930s a chemist
named Arthur Fox unintentionally discovered

The diacylglycerol (DAG) mediated regulation of protein...
The diacylglycerol (DAG) mediated regulation of protein kinase C (PKC) family of serine
/threonine kinases plays a critical role in several intracellular signaling pathways and the pathology
of several diseases including cancer, neurological, cardiovascular, and others. In consequence, PKC
isozymes are being actively pursued as the subject of intense research and drug development.
Depending on their enzymatic properties and activation mechanism, the mammalian PKC
isoenzymes have been categorized into classical (calcium , DAG , and phospholipid dependent),
novel (calcium independent, but DAG and phospholipid dependent), and atypical (calcium and
DAG independent) subgroups. The DAGs selectively interact with the C1 domain of PKC
isoenzymes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, C1 domains have become an attractive objective in designing selective PKC ligands.
There are two functionally nonequivalent C1 domains (C1a and C1b) positioned in tandem within
the regulatory domain of classical and novel PKC isozymes. The PKCО± C1a and PKCОё C1b
subdmains shows higher DAG binding affinity than the C1b and C1a subdomain respectively. For
PKCОґ C1b/a subdomains, conflicting results have been reported regarding their DAG binding
affinity. Accumulating evidences suggest that anionic phospholipids like PS, phosphatidic acid
(PA) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) enhance the DAG dependent membrane binding affinity and
PKC activity; although the anionic phospholipid dependence varies considerably among the PKC
isozymes. Among the classical PKCs, PKCО± and PKCОІII prefer PS to PG, whereas PKCОі
shows comparable affinity for PS and PG. Among the novel PKCs, PKCОґ and PKCОё show a
certain degree of PS selectivity, whereas PKCОµ shows preference for PA. In case of isolated C1b
subdomains, similar selectivities have been observed for PKCОґ, PKCОё and PKCОµ. Whereas
the PKCОІII C1b subdomain shows little preference between PS and PG. However, the reported
experimental measurements used either only DAG or a combination of separate DAG and anionic
lipid molecules in solution or under liposomal environment to determine the DAG dependent
membrane binding capabilities of the

Research Paper On Tyson Foods
Where does our food come from? Often the answer is Tyson Foods, America s meat factory.
STORIES FROM OUR ADVERTISERS
Tyson, one of the nation s 100 biggest companies, slaughters 135,000 head of cattle a week, along
with 391,000 hogs and an astonishing 41 million chickens. Nearly all Americans regularly eat
Tyson meat at home, at McDonalds, at a cafeteria, at a nursing home.
Even if Tyson did not produce a given piece of meat, the consumer is really only picking between
different versions of the same commoditized beef, chicken, and pork that is produced through a

Concerned by the meat oligopoly s dominance of rural America, President Obama undertook a push

Big Meat s lobbyists used its friends in Congress to crush the Obama administration s regulatory

Analysis Of Avital Cohen And Tsal Essay
The article by Avital Cohen and Tsal (2016) discussed the flanker task experiment, which asserted
that distractor interference happens unconsciously as a result of focused attention toward the target.
The results from the original flanker task indicated that participants had slower responses for
incongruent trials, since the distractors are inconsistent with the target and would require a
different response (Avital Cohen Tsal, 2016). However, Avital Cohen and Tsal (2016) questioned
the findings from the flanker task experiment. They decided to challenge the idea that only the
target stimuli receives top down processing, and not the distractors (Avital Cohen Tsal, 2016). The
first experiment aimed to test whether the distractor interference is purely bottom up processing as
claimed in the flanker task. The experiment manipulated participants expectations of the target
using the context effect a type of top down processing by changing the distractors to be either
letters or digits (Psych 240 lecture, 9/21/16). Then, the researchers conducted a second experiment
and eliminated the ambiguity of distractors. They wanted to test whether the result from
experiment 1 was caused by an overall bias or the ambiguous distractors. In experiment 2, the
researchers predicted that they would obtain similar results to the first experiment only if the
results were due to an overall bias effect (Avital Cohen Tsal, 2016). This study allows us to deepen

Racism has been a major problem in the world for hundreds of years and it has never been resolved
nor it will never be resolved.
Harper Lee s 1960 novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Joel Schumacher s 1996 film, A Time To Kill,
both share similarities in the way racism is explored throughout both texts.
Racial violence and discrimination are two major themes that are depicted within both texts, but the
most important theme overall is the acceptance between the two races which is shown in both texts.

The primary example of discrimination in the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, is when Tom

When in court with Attics, a white lawyer, defending Robinson, the blacks were to be seated on the

Solonia
SOLONIA MEETS A FAMILY OF PUPPETEERS
Solonia feels alienated and alone. Not because she is, most of the young students at the college
want to be friends with her. She seems to them the kind of rebel spirit that growing people take
interest in, and even though she is appears taciturn, and at times, downright brutish, this makes
her all the more appealing, for she feels like they do. Besides she is handsome and well poised,
and has that expression of wit, without speaking that makes her peers curious to know her
thoughts. But it no act, she prefers alienation, and on one or more occasion let it be known by way
of terse words in reaction to a kind hello or intentional chance meeting. But this is not her true
nature, and she chides herself in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She even begins to make friends with her class mates. This all shows in her letter home to her
mother Mia who can tell right away. Her mother encourages her progress, letting her know it was
just as she intimated.
I m so proud that you are becoming comfortable with your surroundings. Your father misses you
terribly and has often threaten to fetch you back on horse back, can you imagine that. And of
course I miss you as well. But what comforts me is the young educated lady I will embrace when
you return home.
I told you you would adjust, its all part of growing up... I m so happy for you. And no, I ve never
seen a puppet play, but Rome, what I can remember as a young girl myself, is full of all sorts of
curious and wonderful things. Well, work extra hard at your books, listen to your instructors and
respect your classmates. You are doing well, it won t be long before your father and I come to
fetch you home at semester break, that is, if Callus doesn t go out of his mind first, and decides to
recapture you like some god gone mad. Never forget to write...

Should We Continue Human Cloning
One event that will probably in happen in the near future is human cloning. Human cloning began
inevitable when Scottish scientists made Dolly. The sheep was cloned on July 5, 1996 which
made her the most famous sheep in the world. Dolly was the result of 277 failed attempts. She was
actually formed without a sperm. So Dollys cell began from a sheep and was fused with a donor egg
through electricity. Since the birth of Dolly was a major scientific breakthrough, scientists wanted
to perfect human cloning. So people decided to clone animals because it seemed more ethical than
testing humans. President Clinton signed a five year contract so they can began the cloning of
animals and the federal funding. So far, scientists have cloned mice, sheep, pigs, cows, and many
more animals. The chances have now increased to one to four percent. That maybe low however it
increased from a decade ago.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, his findings were false once he reviewed his work . If we continue human cloning,
scientists hypothesize that somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) will be the way. SCNT begins
when doctors take an egg from a female donor. Once they remove the nucleus, the create an
enucleated egg. A DNA cell is taken from the human being cloned. Next, the enucleated fuses with
the subject s cell. This will create an embryo that is implanted in the mother. If the attempt was a
success, the mother gives birth to the clone. However the success rate is only one or two out of 100

1.The Iroquois Confederacy was formed primarily as a means of peacekeeping and mediation
among the five Iroquois nations and also to form an alliance, especially against foreign powers
in the New World. They were highly successful in these goals, mainly because they were able to
put up a united front. If you think about it, the smaller tribes were the first ones to be decimated
when the Europeans arrived; some died of disease and some died in conflict, but the smaller groups
were definitely at a disadvantage. Because the Iroquoiswere a very sizeable group, they were a
force to be reckoned with. They had enough strength in numbers to put up a good fight in conflicts
and they had an organized government, especially compared to the other Native... Show more

Slaves in Virginia and South Carolina seem to have found the most sense of community.
Throughout the history of the colonies, Virginia and South Carolina have had many slave revolts.
This is because these two colonies had the largest plantations, which means that they had the
largest amount of slaves all in one area at a time. This gave them strength in numbers. It was
common for slaves to form substitute families with each other because many families were
separated. This separation from their families also drew them closer together. This established a
sense of trust and a strong bond among the slaves, allowing them to rally together and launch
rebellions and revolts like the Stono Rebellion. This shows that they trusted and believed in each
other because why would you start a revolt that you knew you had no chance of

Search for an Alternative Fuel Source for Automobiles
Search for an Alternative Fuel Source for Automobiles Since it s invention and birth in 1886
automobiles have influenced the world in a huge way. It saved people a lot of energy, time and
money. Motorized wagons replaced horse carriages and within a few decades Ford started making
affordable models of cars with higher efficiency, which revolutionized the concept of transportation.
The first ever car that was built was powered by steam. But with development in science and
technology other efficient fuel sources were invented. The present day cars run on petrol (gasoline),
diesel, and electricity and even sound. With the increased depletion of coal and coal derived
products, the continued use of automobiles is becoming uncertain. Energy... Show more content on

However the anti knocking properties of diesel is measured by its cetane number. The cetane
number is the measurement of the anti knocking and the combustion quality of diesel. It is the
equivalent of octane number for gasoline. The average value of cetane number for a diesel fuel
ranges from 42 to 45 but for premium diesel cetane number can be up to 60. Another important
property of fuels is the calorific value. The calorific value is the amount of heat or energy
produced when the fuel is combusted. Therefore the calorific value determines the output power
produced by the fuel. It is either measured as either gross calorific value or net calorific value.
The most commonly method of comparing calorific values of fuels is net calorific value. The
net calorific value of gasoline is 44400 KJ/Kg. This means that 44400 kilojoules of energy is
produced for every kilogram of fuel burnt. In comparison, the calorific value of diesel is 43400
(Bureau of Energy efficiency, p.4). The calorific value of diesel is lower than the calorific value
of gasoline and hence gasoline has a higher output power than diesel. The output power is one of
the most important factors on which efficiency is dependent. Hence it can be said that the
efficiency if petrol is higher than that of diesel. Since early 20th century the popularity of electric
vehicles have been raising. Electric cars were prevalent in early 20th century when

Roy Lichtenstein Plagiarism
Roy Lichtenstein: Pop art icon, or copycat?
Roy Lichtenstein became a key figure in the pop art movement in the early 1960 s. Inspired by
American advertisements and comic strips, Lichtenstein is known for his bold colors, use of
familiar images, and focus on parody. Lichtenstein avoided painting abstract canvases without a
subject, and instead, emphasized the impersonality of the stencil process that was commonly used
and recognizable in commercial art at the time. Some would argue, too recognizable.
Roy Lichtenstein was considered controversial because his critics accused him of the only thing
that can destroy you as an artist: plagiarism. Many believed that Lichtenstein s work was far too
similar to the advertisements and comics he was inspired by to pass it off as his own, or at least
not without some sort of attribution to the original artist. Lichtenstein was often accused of
profiting off of the creativity of others, which poses a question still prevalent in art today: At
what point is the work manipulated enough to be considered an original creation? Others argue
Picasso s famous quote, good artist copy, great artists steal ; when an artist copies another artist, it
s apparent, but when an artist steals, that artist transforms a work into something that is their own.
If an artist copies, you are able to sense the original artist in that work. Even if the artist were to
paint it beautifully, we feel art from where it is originally derived.

3 Metal Roofs
Overview of 3 Metal Roof Types For Residential Use
If your home needs a brand new roof, you may be researching all of the materials available to you
to narrow it down. While metal can be a popular choice, there are different kinds of metal materials
that have their own pros and cons. Understand the differences so that you can make an informed
decision.
Steel Roofing
A common metal material that is available to you is steel. This is because its popularity is often
due to its affordability, while also being a durable material that can withstand flying debris, high
winds, and frozen rain.
Steel roofs can benefit from having a zinc coating applied to them. It helps steel require less
maintenance over the years, since the coating will help the material ... Show more content on

It s cheaper than using copper, but will cost more than using steel. The biggest drawback with
aluminum is that the metal is soft, so it should be avoided in areas that have flying debris or high
winds that cause impact damage to a roof. The material does weigh much less than other metal
roofing materials, so it does tend to be installed faster and easier than copper or steel.
Aluminum will hold up well in climates that have a lot of rain, since the material will not corrode
like other types of metal roofing. You can purchase the material in shingles or sheets, which are
usually painted after they are installed to improve the overall aesthetics of the roofing material.
This will require additional maintenance over the years to give the material another coat of paint.
Copper Roofing
One of the most expensive metal roofing materials will be copper, but many homeowners go with
it because it s unique and beautiful in its appearance on a home. The material is also incredibly
durable with it being hard to damage, and it will not require any maintenance or cleaning after it is
installed. This makes it great for large homes that create difficulties when trying to access the roof.
A unique attribute of copper is how it is a heavy and thick roofing material, and its size won t
change when facing extreme heat in the summer. The material also changes color as it gets older
to a green blue hue, called the patina process, which is an aspect of it that many people like.

My Mom s Father Research Paper
In order to fully tell what influence the church has had on me, I first need to start with my
Grandparents. My Mom s Father (Rev. Charles Martindale) is a Pastor who has preached at
many different United Brethren, Evangelical United Brethren, and Union Churches. His brother
(Rev. Marty Martindale) is also a pastor and I have had the pleasure of sitting with both of them
and discussing their views on different Bible verses over the years. Charles Martindale married
Virginia right after graduating from seminary. They live in Ohio and have 6 children (Charity,
Charles, Paul, Peter, Laura my mom , and Jane). Marty also moved to Ohio where he also
preached as he was raising his children. The Martindales are very strong believers in the importance

He married Larondelle, a girl from Georgia when he was 24 and retired from the military. They
moved to North Carolina where they raised their five children (Lenora, Joseph, Barbara, Carol,
and Bruce my dad ). Cecil was a hard working pharmacist who worked at his own Pharmacy and
soda shop. The military trained Cecil well but had left its mark with a guy who liked to smoke
and who had become a work addict. Larendell believed in going to church on Sunday and taught
her children to follow her example, but not all her children chose to follow it, (I tend to think
some of them thought it was all a Hippocratic act). All of my dad s siblings followed in their
father s footsteps and went into the military in some way instead of going to college. Lenora in
the Army, Joseph in the Navy, Barbara in the Army, and Carol in the Airforce. My grandma,
Larondelle, loved that her children were serving their country but she wanted one of her
children to go to college and my dad, being the youngest, became her choice. He had received
two scholarships from a local college and his mom urged him to give them a try. He took her
advice and was studying on the science scholarship when his parents divorced. They had
apparently agreed to stay together until the last child was out of the house. This divorce resulted in
my Dad firmly stating that he wasn t ever going to get divorced and him

The Age Of Digital Technology Essay
This Land is My Land, This Land is Your Land
It is an incalculable added pleasure to any one s sum of happiness if he or she grows to know,
even slightly and imperfectly, how to read and enjoy the wonder book of nature. Theodore
Roosevelt
I m a millennial, in my early 20 s, part of the largest living generation. The first generation to
grow up completely immersed in the age of digital technology. A generation that is known for
duck face selfies. A generation that is now responsible for saving our nation s parks. As for me
and so many other Americans, it s not an overstatement to say that our national parks have
played a major role in shaping my life. As a child, I was drawn to them because of their size and
beauty even at a young age I knew that these places were special. Now, as a young adult, I have
been lucky enough to deepen my understanding of myself by wandering their trails. Last year, over
350 million people visited national parks or forests. Yet, Congress continues to underfund the
National Park Service (NPS) who is responsible for upkeep, training, education, and conservation.
As an avid park goer I can attest to their beauty as well as how crucial they are to our country. Our
national parks and forests need more funding so they can continue to preserve critical wildlife,
boost local economies, and embody an American tradition.
Protected natural areas state and federal parks, private nature preserves, wildlife refuges, wilderness
areas, and other conserved

DBQ 2: The Reasons for Declaring Independence in 1776 From previous instruction in American history at earlier grade levels, students often have in mind the idea that unfair taxation and trade restrictions caused English colonists to declare their independence. This DBQ asks them to consider such economic factors and weigh them against an array of other possibilities, some of which are suggested in the question. Students must consider factors and provide a rationale for which of these sets of ideas is of greater importance. Once again, the results of students analyses will differ, but a convincing rationale must be provided in each essay. Discuss The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Malaysia s Security This paper will analyze the weakness of decision making processes regarding Malaysia s security and provide evidence in supporting this statement. The scandal of Scorpene s submarines and the policies made by the MKN will be the main evidence in analyzing the weaknesses of the decision making process regarding Malaysia s security. In 2002, the reputation and reliability of Malaysia s security system have been challenged after the leak of the scandal involving the purchase and sale of highly confidential Malaysian government defense documents to a French defense company. It also includes the transaction of RM 7.3 billion deal to purchase 2 SSK Scorpene Submarines for a kickback worth EUR 114 million from DCNS to Perimekar and this is the most... As far as we know, Malaysia perceives itself as a democratic country and in fact of that, all democratic values must be practices truthfully, for example, the decision making processes that should be discussed with the member of the parliament before any decision, law, and other related things are implemented. The Akta 776 of Majlis Keselamatan Negara already shows the flaws of Malaysia as a democratic country when the Malaysia s security power is put under the power of the Prime Minister alone. This Act will reduce the power of Parliament as a place to discuss regarding the issues or threat perceives by Malaysia. • 4. Leadership Of Joan Of Arc There have been many astonishing military leaders. From Alexander the Great, to Julius Caesar, to Constantine the Great, and to Saladin. However, how many female military leaders do you know? Joan of Arc is one of the most successful female leaders out there. Before she led an army, Joan was just an ordinary peasant living in medieval France. She believed that God had selected her to lead a victory over England. She convinced prince Charles of Valois to allow her to lead a French army to the confined city of OrlГ©an, where it achieved a momentous victory over the English and their French allies, the Burgundians. After the prince was crowned King Charles VII, Joan was seized by Anglo Burgundian forces. She was then tried for witchcraft along with heresy, and was found guilty. Since she was found guilty, she was burned at the stake in 1431, at the age of 19. In 1920 she was canonized, but had long been considered one of the greatest saints, and an permanent symbol of French unity. Joan of Arcwas from the village of DomrГ©my, in northeastern France. She was the daughter of a tenant farmer, named Jacques d Arc. In fact, Joan of Arc is the translated English name. Her real name is Jeanne d Arc. Joan was not taught to read or write, but instead taught to love her Catholic Church and its teachings. During this time, France was at war with England. (which is later known as the Hundred Years War) When she was 13, Joan began to hear voices. She decided that these voices were sent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mother Daughter Relationship In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck One of the main themes in The Joy Luck Club, is the relationship between mother and daughter, because the entire story revolves around the sacrifices made by mothers for their daughters, even going so far as to sacrificing a literal piece of them selves to give their mother a small boost of time in life. In this essay I will be conveying the theme of motherdaughter relationships through real world and literature comparing. In the joy luck club, a daughter is recalling the stories about her mother s past seeing how much she gave up for her in the stories she s been told. Seeing how her mother wished for her to be able to have a life without sorrow unlike her own. Though her daughter only realizes all this after her mother dies. We learn that ... • 6. Was The American Revolution Inevitable Dbq Was the American Revolution inevitable? According to John Adams in 1818, the desire for independence was already in the hearts of Americans long before war broke out in 1775. This was untrue for many loyalists living in the colonies in 1775. However, there was simply nothing the mother country could do to stop her colonies from wanting to move on from its natural state of identity in order to grow into a unique and independent country. To begin with, Richard Bland in his 1766 An Inquiry Into the Rights of the British Colonies believed that America should be independent as to their internal government, of the original Kingdom, but united with her, as to their external policy... The Stamp Act required colonists to purchase stamped paper for every legal document, license, and newspaper and imposed special stamped duties on packages of playing cards and dice. All who disobeyed the Act were to be tried in the vice admiralty courts. By May of 1765, Boston shopkeepers, artisans, and laborers united in a resistance group called Sons of Liberty. By the end of the summer, the Sons of Liberty harassed customs workers, stamp agents, and royal governors faced mob threats and hence stamp agents resigned all over. The Act was to become effective on November 1st, 1765, but colonial protests prevented stamped paper from being sold. In the month of October, 1765, delegates from nine colonies met in NYC. Congress issued a Declaration of Rights and Grievances: it stated that Parliament lacked power to impose taxes on the colonies because they were not represented in Parliament. This was the first time in which colonies began to set aside their differences and unite as one. Eventually, the Act was repealed and in 1766, Parliament issued the Declaratory Act: it addressed Parliament s full right to make laws in all cases whatsoever . The Tea Act was made in 1773 and it granted the East India Company the right to sell directly to the colonies, free of taxes, this would cut colonial merchants out of the tea trade because the company would sell for less. Many different architectures as well as algorithms and applications have been determined and implemented. The efп¬Ѓciency of these wireless sensor networks is as much as dependent on routing protocol directly affecting the network life and in wireless sensor network every sensor has a limited transmission range of every sensor node to obtain the sensing data. Due to this limitation of wireless sensor network Clustering of node is most popular techniques preferred in routing operations. In this paper, cluster based energy efп¬Ѓcient clustering technique based on artiп¬Ѓcial bee colony algorithm and genetic algorithm is presented to increase the network lifetime. The name of artificial bee colony algorithm is come from bees cause It has been inspired by collective behavior of Bees as seeking food. Some tend to play the motherly type, some play the manipulator type and some even play the victims of abusive relationships. No matter what women seem to be coming up in the industry of movies in more ways than before. The three movies I have chosen to analyze in my critique are Heartbreakers, Baby Boy and Stepmom. These three movies all have women in them that either play a major role or the main role. All their roles are very different in character and none of the women in these three movies play a similar role. In the movie Heartbreakers the two main women are Jennifer Love Hewitt (the daughter) and Sigourney Weaver (the mother). These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second movie in which a woman plays a major role in is Baby Boy. This movie, I believe did not do too much damage to the box offices when it first came out, but it sure portrayed women in a very negative way. The main character is actually a man by the name of Tyrese Gibson. He plays a boy who is struggling to grow up and become not only an independent adult, but also a responsible father (to more than one child). The main female role in the movie is Tyrese s baby s mother. She is in love with him and would do anything to keep him happy. She let s him use her car and she let s him stay at her place at any time with her and their son. He cheats on her a lot and at one point even hits her. This was a major part in the movie. He had promised her he would never lay his hands on her and he did. She stopped talking to him for quite some time, and that whole time you could sense they were both miserable without eachother. Some men tend to hurt women for the simple facts that they just don t know how to control their anger or because they were never taught good communication skills. They end up telling one another that they can t live without each other and they get back together. She ends up getting pregnant by him again and they get married and live happily ever after. Firstly, the Kokoda Campaign saved Australia from possible invasion, or more precisely from being isolated from the United States of America . Secondly, Kokoda was the battle that lead to victory in the Second World War, as well as to improvement of Australia s post war practices and military operations. Papua had no particular resource that they desired, but it was a useful link in the chain of defences of the newly conquered area of Japan. So because Japan was quickly gaining new lands closer to Australia, posing a threat to Australia s safety, the battle of Kokoda was the most important Australian fought victory, in terms of winning the war. The campaign helped to shape Australia s post war training practices and military operations. Although it was not they first victory against Japan, it allowed the allies to make thrust forward through island hopping and ultimately win the war. • 11. Bribing Corrupt Bureaucrats Might Not Be a Terrible Idea... This is an excellent way to show that as a human race we are constantly looking for a mode of perfection but that mode is never there because we can never find it. What we can do is to get as close as possible to the ideal situation. This ideal situation should mean that there is some form of Pareto efficiency in the system and most people stand to benefit. If the value system allows for the existence of some classes to gain more than others this will create inequality. In such a case the government will always try to change policies to make the shift. The height of the positives of economic reforms took place when India can acheievd a growth rate of 9% in 2007 . Today India is known as among the 10 largest economies of the world. But there are studies that suggest otherwise. The 2005 paper suggests that bribing bureaucrats might not be such a bad idea. This is because the corrupt bureaucrats can force the government into talking helpful measures. You could classify the different changes in six eras in the tattoo history; the colonist or pioneer Era, the circus or carnival Era, the working class era, the rebel era, the new age era and presently the supermarket era. The mRNA molecules transcribed from the DNA leave through the nuclear pores in the nuclear envelope to attach to free ribosomes or ribosomes on the rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (rER). mRNA molecules try to bind to ribosomes as they contain ribosomal RNA(rRNA) transcribed from DNAin the nucleolus. The attachment of mRNA allows proteinsynthesis to occur at the ribosome, producing proteins in their primary structure. These polypeptide chains then travel through the rER where they are packaged and pinched off into little vesicles and carried to the Golgi complex. They are then chemically modified and folded into newly synthesised proteins which can then leave the cell (exocytosis) through secretory vesicles produced at the Golgi complex. 1.Nucleus 2.Nuclear pore 3.rER 4.Vesicle 5.Golgi complex 6.Secretory ... Factors may include: condition severity, the patient s dental age, the child/parent s social background and expectations. [1] Appropriate dietary advice and toothpaste with a fluoride level of at least 1,000 ppm F should be recommended. [11] Cavity Design There is still much debate of whether margin extension should include removal of all defective enamel or only the porous enamel. The former provides sound enamel for bonding but leads to excessive tooth tissue loss, the latter is less invasive, but the margins may have a high risk of breakdown due to defective bonding. On the other hand the Employee s responsibilities are: When doing their job, take care not to harm themselves or the others Respect the rules and co operate with employers in order to meet the statutory requirements Not to misuse anything provided to protect their safety, health and welfare 2. Explain the purpose of following health, safety and security procedures in a business environment. Having specific procedures regarding health, safety and security and follow them is a very important aspect in a business environment. One reason for following the health, safety and security procedures is the legal aspect. Both the employers and employee must comply with the law and rules: the organisation must take specific actions (prepare documentation on the procedures and choosing personnel to be responsible for this aspect), the staff and other persons must respect the procedures. Field work is basically canvassing, phone banking, placing out yard signs, and attending events. The reason why these task is so important is because it is the easiest and cheapest way to get the name of the candidate out to voters. Without field work the large majority of consitiuents wouldn t know who the candidate is and what office they are running for, in addition when meeting with voters I could talk to them about why I wanted to vote for Al Lawson, what his platforms where, and answering any questions that they had. • 26. Relationship Between Bitter Flavors And Bitter Flavor Abstract The realization of this experiment had as main objective to show the relationship between the bitter flavor in spinach and the bitter flavor in Phenylthiocarbamide (PTC). In many past studies about this relationship the results have shown that there is a significant difference between the bitter taste in some vegetables and the bitter flavor present in PTC (Sandell Breslin,2006). In order to approve or disapprove this hypothesis 19 students in the same class were tested to see if they tasted the bitter flavor in spinach. The spinach leaves were blended with mango juice using a blender machine. The result of this part of the experiment were recorded in a table to be analyzed. The results showed that 26.3% of the subjects were super tasters of the spinach (indicating that they tasted the bitter flavor). In contrast about 73.7% of the same subjects were considered to be super tasters for the PTC (grading the bitter flavor 4 or 5 in a 5 scale; being 5 the maximum for bitterness). In conclusion it can be say that this two results were not very related. This experiment can be used to further analyze how some vegetables may have bitter flavor and not be correlated to the bitter taste in PTC. The diacylglycerol (DAG) mediated regulation of protein kinase C (PKC) family of serine /threonine kinases plays a critical role in several intracellular signaling pathways and the pathology of several diseases including cancer, neurological, cardiovascular, and others. In consequence, PKC isozymes are being actively pursued as the subject of intense research and drug development. Depending on their enzymatic properties and activation mechanism, the mammalian PKC isoenzymes have been categorized into classical (calcium , DAG , and phospholipid dependent), novel (calcium independent, but DAG and phospholipid dependent), and atypical (calcium and DAG independent) subgroups. Therefore, C1 domains have become an attractive objective in designing selective PKC ligands. The PKCО± C1a and PKCОё C1b subdmains shows higher DAG binding affinity than the C1b and C1a subdomain respectively. For PKCОґ C1b/a subdomains, conflicting results have been reported regarding their DAG binding affinity. Accumulating evidences suggest that anionic phospholipids like PS, phosphatidic acid (PA) and phosphatidylglycerol (PG) enhance the DAG dependent membrane binding affinity and PKC activity; although the anionic phospholipid dependence varies considerably among the PKC isozymes. Among the classical PKCs, PKCО± and PKCОІII prefer PS to PG, whereas PKCОі shows comparable affinity for PS and PG. Among the novel PKCs, PKCОґ and PKCОё show a certain degree of PS selectivity, whereas PKCОµ shows preference for PA. The results from the original flanker task indicated that participants had slower responses for incongruent trials, since the distractors are inconsistent with the target and would require a different response (Avital Cohen Tsal, 2016). However, Avital Cohen and Tsal (2016) questioned the findings from the flanker task experiment. They decided to challenge the idea that only the target stimuli receives top down processing, and not the distractors (Avital Cohen Tsal, 2016). The first experiment aimed to test whether the distractor interference is purely bottom up processing as claimed in the flanker task. The experiment manipulated participants expectations of the target using the context effect a type of top down processing by changing the distractors to be either letters or digits (Psych 240 lecture, 9/21/16). Then, the researchers conducted a second experiment and eliminated the ambiguity of distractors. They wanted to test whether the result from experiment 1 was caused by an overall bias or the ambiguous distractors. The primary example of discrimination in the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, is when Tom Robinson, a black man is wrongly accused of rape and assault on Mayella, a white woman. When in court with Attics, a white lawyer, defending Robinson, the blacks were to be seated on the top level of the courtroom to show that they were not important and that their opinion doesn t matter. Discrimination is also shown in the film, A Time To Kill, when, again, in the courtroom blacks were to sit on the top level. Not only is discrimination shown in the courtroom, but also in the town. For example, the two races were living on different sides of the town, blacks were not allowed to associate with whites let alone touch them or nearly look at them. Lee and Schumacher provide evidence that shows discrimination as being a major theme used throughout both texts. Acceptance was an important theme shown in both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The sheep was cloned on July 5, 1996 which made her the most famous sheep in the world. Dolly was the result of 277 failed attempts. She was actually formed without a sperm. So Dollys cell began from a sheep and was fused with a donor egg through electricity. Since the birth of Dolly was a major scientific breakthrough, scientists wanted to perfect human cloning. So people decided to clone animals because it seemed more ethical than testing humans. President Clinton signed a five year contract so they can began the cloning of animals and the federal funding. So far, scientists have cloned mice, sheep, pigs, cows, and many more animals. The chances have now increased to one to four percent. That maybe low however it increased from a decade ago.... If we continue human cloning, scientists hypothesize that somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) will be the way. SCNT begins when doctors take an egg from a female donor. Once they remove the nucleus, the create an enucleated egg. A DNA cell is taken from the human being cloned. Next, the enucleated fuses with the subject s cell. This will create an embryo that is implanted in the mother. If the attempt was a success, the mother gives birth to the clone. However the success rate is only one or two out of 100 ... Ap Us History Dbq Compare And Contrast 1.The Iroquois Confederacy was formed primarily as a means of peacekeeping and mediation among the five Iroquois nations and also to form an alliance, especially against foreign powers in the New World. They were highly successful in these goals, mainly because they were able to put up a united front. If you think about it, the smaller tribes were the first ones to be decimated when the Europeans arrived; some died of disease and some died in conflict, but the smaller groups were definitely at a disadvantage. Because the Iroquoiswere a very sizeable group, they were a force to be reckoned with. They had enough strength in numbers to put up a good fight in conflicts and they had an organized government, especially compared to the other Native... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slaves in Virginia and South Carolina seem to have found the most sense of community. Throughout the history of the colonies, Virginia and South Carolina have had many slave revolts. This is because these two colonies had the largest plantations, which means that they had the largest amount of slaves all in one area at a time. This gave them strength in numbers. It was common for slaves to form substitute families with each other because many families were separated. This separation from their families also drew them closer together. This established a sense of trust and a strong bond among the slaves, allowing them to rally together and launch rebellions and revolts like the Stono Rebellion. Search for an Alternative Fuel Source for Automobiles Search for an Alternative Fuel Source for Automobiles Since it s invention and birth in 1886 automobiles have influenced the world in a huge way. It saved people a lot of energy, time and money. Motorized wagons replaced horse carriages and within a few decades Ford started making affordable models of cars with higher efficiency, which revolutionized the concept of transportation. The first ever car that was built was powered by steam. But with development in science and technology other efficient fuel sources were invented. The present day cars run on petrol (gasoline), diesel, and electricity and even sound. However the anti knocking properties of diesel is measured by its cetane number. The cetane number is the measurement of the anti knocking and the combustion quality of diesel. It is the equivalent of octane number for gasoline. The average value of cetane number for a diesel fuel ranges from 42 to 45 but for premium diesel cetane number can be up to 60. Another important property of fuels is the calorific value. The calorific value is the amount of heat or energy produced when the fuel is combusted. Therefore the calorific value determines the output power produced by the fuel. It is either measured as either gross calorific value or net calorific value. The most commonly method of comparing calorific values of fuels is net calorific value. The net calorific value of gasoline is 44400 KJ/Kg. This means that 44400 kilojoules of energy is produced for every kilogram of fuel burnt. In comparison, the calorific value of diesel is 43400 (Bureau of Energy efficiency, p.4). The calorific value of diesel is lower than the calorific value of gasoline and hence gasoline has a higher output power than diesel. The output power is one of the most important factors on which efficiency is dependent. Hence it can be said that the efficiency if petrol is higher than that of diesel. Since early 20th century the popularity of electric vehicles have been raising. Electric cars were prevalent in early 20th century when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Roy Lichtenstein Plagiarism Roy Lichtenstein: Pop art icon, or copycat? Roy Lichtenstein became a key figure in the pop art movement in the early 1960 s. Inspired by American advertisements and comic strips, Lichtenstein is known for his bold colors, use of familiar images, and focus on parody. Lichtenstein avoided painting abstract canvases without a subject, and instead, emphasized the impersonality of the stencil process that was commonly used and recognizable in commercial art at the time. Some would argue, too recognizable. Roy Lichtenstein was considered controversial because his critics accused him of the only thing that can destroy you as an artist: plagiarism. Many believed that Lichtenstein s work was far too similar to the advertisements and comics he was inspired by to pass it off as his own, or at least not without some sort of attribution to the original artist. Lichtenstein was often accused of profiting off of the creativity of others, which poses a question still prevalent in art today: At what point is the work manipulated enough to be considered an original creation? Others argue Picasso s famous quote, good artist copy, great artists steal ; when an artist copies another artist, it s apparent, but when an artist steals, that artist transforms a work into something that is their own. If an artist copies, you are able to sense the original artist in that work. Even if the artist were to paint it beautifully, we feel art from where it is originally derived. ... Steel Roofing A common metal material that is available to you is steel. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s cheaper than using copper, but will cost more than using steel. The biggest drawback with aluminum is that the metal is soft, so it should be avoided in areas that have flying debris or high winds that cause impact damage to a roof. The material does weigh much less than other metal roofing materials, so it does tend to be installed faster and easier than copper or steel. Aluminum will hold up well in climates that have a lot of rain, since the material will not corrode like other types of metal roofing. You can purchase the material in shingles or sheets, which are usually painted after they are installed to improve the overall aesthetics of the roofing material. This will require additional maintenance over the years to give the material another coat of paint. Copper Roofing One of the most expensive metal roofing materials will be copper, but many homeowners go with it because it s unique and beautiful in its appearance on a home. The material is also incredibly durable with it being hard to damage, and it will not require any maintenance or cleaning after it is installed. This makes it great for large homes that create difficulties when trying to access the roof. A unique attribute of copper is how it is a heavy and thick roofing material, and its size won t change when facing extreme heat in the summer. The material also changes color as it gets older to a green blue hue, called the patina process, which is an aspect of it that many people like. The Age Of Digital Technology Essay This Land is My Land, This Land is Your Land It is an incalculable added pleasure to any one s sum of happiness if he or she grows to know, even slightly and imperfectly, how to read and enjoy the wonder book of nature. Theodore Roosevelt I m a millennial, in my early 20 s, part of the largest living generation. The first generation to grow up completely immersed in the age of digital technology. A generation that is known for duck face selfies. A generation that is now responsible for saving our nation s parks. As for me and so many other Americans, it s not an overstatement to say that our national parks have played a major role in shaping my life. As a child, I was drawn to them because of their size and beauty even at a young age I knew that these places were special. Now, as a young adult, I have been lucky enough to deepen my understanding of myself by wandering their trails. Last year, over 350 million people visited national parks or forests. Yet, Congress continues to underfund the National Park Service (NPS) who is responsible for upkeep, training, education, and conservation. As an avid park goer I can attest to their beauty as well as how crucial they are to our country.
