Thesis For Thirteen Reasons Why
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher is a novel surrounding Clay Jensen and the late Hannah Baker.
Hannah Baker had recently committed suicide and recorded her reasons for doing so on cassette
tapes, then sent the tapes to the thirteen people she deems responsible, in some way, for her death.
Clay Jensen receives the cassette tapes one morning and follows Hannah s instructions. She directs
him through the city as he listens to her retell the events that led up to her suicide. Asher s novelhas
made me rethink the way I interact with my peers. I have learned how to detect subtle bullying and
stick up for the person being bullied.
Hannah experienced various forms of bullying throughout the novel. Some were miniscule acts of
cruelty, primarily meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one girl whom she thought was truly her friend turned out to be using her. Hannah had no
one to confide in whenever she was upset. There was no one to notice how much she was
changing as she slipped deeper and deeper into her depression. Her own guidance counselor
neglected her and did not realize the how much help Hannah truly needed. Hannah needed
someone to listen to her problems and provide solutions or ways to cope. Whenever my friends
are upset, I am always the first to ask, What s wrong? I would hate for one of my friends to end
up like Hannah because they thought they did not have someone to confide in. I tell my friends
that I am always there for them and if they ever need someone to talk to about their problems, I
am there for them. I suggest to my friends ways to cope with stress or sadness, such as doodling
or walking around their neighborhoods. The way I usually suggest is to write all of the thoughts in
their heads down in a journal. I let my friends know that they are loved and that I would be
devastated if something happened to them. I believe it is important for everyone to know that they
are appreciated and that someone understands what they are going

An Ice Calorimeter Determination of Reaction Enthalpy
Thermochemistry: An Ice Calorimeter Determination of Reaction
Enthalpy
D. F. Nachman
6/23/2010
Abstract: An ice calorimeter was used to study the reaction of magnesium metal and 1.00M sulfuric
acid solution: Mg(s) + H2SO4(aq) в†’пЂ MgSO4(aq) + H2(g). We found the experimental molar
enthalpy of reaction to be О”H = 355 В± 17 kJ/mol at 0В°C, 24% lower than the textbook value of
О”HВ° = 466.9 kJ/mol, reported at 25В°C.
Introduction
Whether a chemical reaction occurs spontaneously or is driven by an outside force, it almost always
exchanges energy with the surroundings. Energy exchange can occur as work or as heat flow.
When a reaction occurs under constant pressure conditions, we call the heat portion of the energy
exchanged the enthalpy change of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calculations
The reaction between magnesium metal and sulfuric acid released heat, which melted some of
the ice in the calorimeter. Because ice takes up more volume per gram than liquid water, this
melting produced a drop in pipette readings. For each gram of ice that melted, the volume change
was calculated from the density values of water and ice at 0 В°C: dice пЂЅпЂ 0.9157 g
1 mL
, so the specific volume of ice =
1 mL
0.9157 g
пЂЅпЂ 1.0920 mL ice
1 g H2O dliquid пЂЅпЂ 0.9998 g
1 mL
, so the specific volume of liquid =
1 mL
0.9998 g
пЂЅпЂ 1.0002 mL
1 g
The difference between the two specific volume values gives the volume change per gram of
melting ice: 0.0918 mL/g.
The estimated total volume change is shown in Figure 1. Because the slope of the data trend after
the reaction did not match the slope of the data trend before the reaction, using the equations of the
trend lines gave a range of О”V values:
О”Vmin = 0.8989 0.5914+[630*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[630*0.00025]=0.465 mL
О”Vavg = 0.8989 0.5914+[720*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[720*0.00025]=0.488 mL
О”Vmax = 0.8989 0.5914+[810*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[810*0.00025]=0.510 mL
These volume changes correspond to the following masses of ice melt:
0.465 mL melt пЂЎпЂ 1 g ice
0.0918 mL melt
= 5.07 g ice minimum
0.488 mL melt пЂЎпЂ 1 g ice
0918 mL melt
пЂЅпЂ 5.32 g ice average
0.510 mL melt пЂЎпЂ 1 g ice
0.918 mL melt

We Cannot Show Disrespect To People With Disabilities
I have been fortunate enough to work in a field that does not show disrespect to people with
disabilities. Sadly, the world we live in doesn t work the same way as Head Start. I do not watch
TV at all, but when I used to I don t remember really seeing many commercials or shows that
blatantly disrespected people with disabilities, but what little I have seen in the media seems be
geared toward gaining pity for those individuals. This always saddens me, as in my mind every
individual has some sort of disability, some are just more pronounced than others. I know at Head

Everyone Needs Health Care At The Jungles Of Congo
Everyone needs health care, from the mountains of Colorado to the jungles of Liberia. Therefore,
it is hard to argue that the medical community is not one of the most essential in our society.
However, many people go to their doctor s office and either complain about the paperwork, the
wait, or how the staff treated them. The medical culture is paramount to our society because it
serves our community by maintaining human health, analyzes health trends, deals with insurance
companies and even aids low income individuals to get the proper care they require to live a
healthy life. Judging from past experiences and what seems like public opinion, the doctor s office
is a place where many people associate their time there with anxiously waiting... Show more content

As busy as the office seemed to be, the mostly female staff appeared to work in unison,
comparable to a finely tuned machine. Surprisingly, a female patient in about her 60s walked in
with homemade brownies to pass to all the staff at the office as appreciation. However,
according to Krizia Martinez (2016), an employee of a family practice, not all patients are as
wonderful as the one mentioned, they have regular patients that seem to treat the front desk
staff as people below them, often treating them with attitude or not acknowledging their
existence as humans (Martinez, personal communication, July 02, 2016). Nevertheless, the
staff seems to continue to do their jobs and take care of patients, regardless of how they are
treated. This behavior reveals the intent of unbiased medical care for patients. From my view,
there seemed to be a lot of work being done, even when there were not any patients waiting in the
lobby. There are other responsibilities, other than dealing with patients directly, to take care of.
As told by Krizia Martinez (2016), a medical biller, there is special coding used to bill insurance
companies called ICD 10. This coding can refer to general issues such as an annual physical
examination or to a specific issue such as a scratch from a squirrel (Martinez, personal
communication, July 02, 2016). This coding system is just an example of the over complicated
billing process that insurance companies and government

Essay on The History of Hitler and the Nazi Regime
The History of Hitler and the Nazi Regime
In the Second World War, a man named Adolph Hitler, the leader of the infamous Nazi regime, had
a plethora of things on his mind. From guarding the stricken land of Poland against Soviet
advancement, to making sure the western shores of the Atlantic Ocean in France were closely
guarded, Hitler had much to worry about. Unfortunately, it was during Hitler s reign when a most
horrible atrocity took place.
Adolph Hitler was born on April 20th, 1889 in a small hamlet named Braunau Am Inn, just across
the border from German Bavaria. Hitler s childhood was often riddled with abuse and physical
beatings. His family lived in a small farmhouse with 10 other people. Because of this, Adolph s

In 1920, Hitler modified a common ancient symbol to form the swastika, or twisted cross, as a
symbol for his party. He then changed the name of the party to the National Socialist German
Worker s Party, or, in the shortened German form, the NAZI party (Keegan 65).
By 1921, the Nazi party had over 3000 members, mostly drawing in large numbers of ultra
conservatives from Munich. In late 1921, Hitler traveled to Berlin to try and find more members
for his party, but quickly returned, for the members of his party had signed a coup, which
attempted to try and overthrow Hitler. Offended, Hitler resigned his position, only to be asked to
join again two weeks later. He knew the party was nothing without him (Gilber 54).
Between 1921 and 1923, Germany had collapsed into financial ruin. Germany was presented
with a 33 billion dollar bill, as reparations as a result of World War I. Inflation hit the roof, and
the economy was finished. It took 4 billion marks to buy a loaf of bread. Life savings were
completely wiped out. As a result, riots broke out. These riots incited extremist political groups into
action, quickly bringing Germany to the brink of chaos.
In 1923, the Nazi s had a party population of 55,000 members, far more than any extremist group
vying for power. Hitler, knowing this, devised a plan, in which the Nazi s would kidnap the leaders
of the Bavarian government, and hold them at gunpoint until they accepted Hitler as their leader.
The kidnapping was

Music and the Mind Essay
When Albert Einstein was a young kid, his teachers believed that he was too stupid to learn They
suggested to his mother that he just skip school and start manual labor early, because he was a
hopeless case. But despite everything, his mother continued to make him go to school; in addition,
she also bought him a violin. Violin soon became one of his greatest passions, and he even stated
himself, that playing the violin was what made him intelligent. His friend, G.J. Withrow had said,
that whenever Einstein had trouble figuring out an equation he would go and improvise on the
violin.
One reason that suggests this may have really helped him is that music has been proven to have

There is, however, evidence behind Mozart and the slight improvement in test scores. It s
effectiveness is shown through the results of an IQ test performed on three groups of college
students. The first group listened to Mozart s Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major before taking
the IQ test. The second group listened to a relaxation tape and the third group had nothing to
listen to. The results showed that the first group s average had a difference of 9 points (119)
compared to the third group (110), who had sat in silence, while the second group only had a one
point increase from the group who sat in silence. So Mozart can increase your IQ up to 9 points, it
may not be a huge, but there s still a noticeable difference.
A method created by Dr. George Lozanov, a very well known Bulgarian psychologist, was proven
to teach foreign languages to students in just a fraction of time it usually took. The system had
students learn the same amount of grammar and vocabulary typically learned in one school term
(about 1,000 words and phrases) taken in all within a day. To do this, he used certain classical music
pieces from the Baroque period that contained the 60 beat per minute pattern in his lessons.
Through his method he proved that foreign languages can be learned with 85 100% efficiency in
only 30 days with these pieces. What they found, was

The Pros and Cons of RussiaВґs Economy Essay
Russia s economy is very complex and also very terrible at the same time. Many other economy s
are also like this but Russia s is a very interesting thing to learn about. Russia s economy has many
things wrong with it that in the long run could probably affected it in a negative way. But it also
has many positive things about it.The negatives and the positives are, in my opinion, are equal in
Russiaeconomy. Lets start out with the good things that Russia s economy has. Russia has an more
than enough natural resources. They have plenty of timber, precious metals, oil, gas, and coal.
Those resources being exported could easily benefit their economy if it wasn t for other countries
who produce more of the resources taking their potential... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason that their economy won t fall is they still have a budget surplus which it s GDP
isn t very high. And one of the most important reasons is that Russia s unemployment rate is at one
of it s lowest in Soviet history. So, based on those facts it s safe to say that the Russian economy
isn t going to crash anytime soon.
Russia s economy has been becoming tight on public finances but they believe that it ll help their
economy. The reason they think it ll help their economy is because it help keep inflationunder
control. They are also trying to get interest rates cut down to a smaller amount which will also help
out the economy. The Russian government has been preparing for big unemployment rises due to
the monopolies. The monopolies are saying it ll help people find new jobs but it really won t
because now they ll be on the unemployment list and will be having the government paying them
until they find a new job. By having more people on the unemployment list it adds to the country s
debt.
Russia is already in debt and it couldn t really afford to be put into more. Russia s national debt
is around 6,709,506,270,191. Russia is so large that it makes sense that there national debt is so
high. In the U.S. our country isn t big at all compared to Russia and we are in 11 trillion dollars

Slaughterhouse Five Symbolism Essay
In the novel Slaughterhouse Five, an important motif is the phrase So it goes. This motif is
repeatedly expressed to remind the reader throughout the course of the novel of all the tragic
death that occurs as a result of the war. However, it doesn t just symbolize the death from the war,
but also equalizes all death that occurred in this novel, whether natural, accidental, or intentional.
This phrase also relates to the Tralfamadorians idea that even though someone is dead, they are
still alive in a memory and time travel. For my project, I decided to create a stoplight in order to
symbolize So it goes. I constructed the stoplight by using channels to construct a base. Next, I used
the laser cutter to create three black pieces that would cover the channels and make the stoplight...

The red light on the stoplight symbolizes death ending a person s life, while the green light
symbolizes life, and the yellow light symbolizes time slowing down or travelling through time.
This stoplight can relate to the novel Slaughterhouse Five because of the Tralfamadorian idea
that even though a person is dead in that moment, they are alive in all the other moments of their
life and in memory. When a Tralfamadorian sees a corpse, all he thinks is that the dead person is
in bad condition in that particular moment, but that the same person is just fine in plenty of other
moments. Now, when I myself see someone dead, I simply shrug and say what the
Tralfamadorians say about dead people, which is So it goes (Vonnegut 27). This relates to the
stoplight because whenever a Tralfamadorian sees death, or the red light, they stop and realize that
they are alive in another moment or memory, the green light. The Tralfamadorian s are never in the
moment, they see life passing them by, and they can visit other eras of

The Perception Of The Human Brain s Brain
The significance of this video s phenomenon is that it assists people learn what kinds of conduct
can help protect themselves to acceptably fit in their civilization making them into, instinctive
copycats and for a really good reason: survival... as deep in the brain...we got special cells known
as mirror neurons (H. C. Sinclair, 2013). It also relates to current human behavior for the reason
that it echoes the modeling or imitation behavior executed by children and adolescents. For
example, individuals that are into Football will get worked up from just watching it due to
similarly reacting to the responses of the actual audience at the game. The reason as to why is
because of the outcome of the human brains premotor cortex initiating its mirror neurons via trying
to mentally mimicking the same movements communicated by their facial expressions. Ultimately,
the simulation of these neurons on a cellular level is fundamental for humans to effectively
comprehend the feelings of others or empathize that can straightforwardly be influenced without
their knowledge such as the case of advertisers that earn millions each year from making use of this
unique wiring to their advantage.

Analysis Of The Book Sensory Design
Vahid Farbod
Assignment 2 Journal Article Deconstruction
Malnar, Joy Monice and Frank Vodvarka. Sensory Design. Minneapolis: University of Minnesota
Press, 2004.
The book, Sensory Design published by Joy Monice Malnar and Frank Vodvarka in 2004,
explores a new multi sensory method of design for architects in 335 pages. The opening of the
book starts with a question What if we designed for all senses? Very similar to articles from
Pallasmaa, the book leaves the reader wanting to know more about this method although this book
covered many topics and included many references. Malnar is an associate professor at the
University of Illinois, and Vodvarka is an artist who wrote many articles on architectural history.
The book consists of twelve chapters that propose this idea that designers should explore the
nature of our senses response to the spatial built forms that people invest their time in. It tries to
cover a specific topic in each chapter that in order to deconstruct the book, it is necessary to cover
each chapter individually.
The opening chapter describes a sense of place through few examples. A place is perceived through
our sensory responses and cognitive memory which makes that space unique and special as a type.
The second chapter overlooks a series of art movements such as De Stijl, Bauhaus, Enlightenment,
CIAM, and the work of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This chapter attempts to find their
position on senses and the cultural memory. The authors

The Terrorist Attacks Of The United States
September 11, 2001, started as a perfect day, but as the day went on, chaos and terror erupted in
the streets of New York City. New York s iconic World Trade Center fell victim to hijacked
commercial airlines filled with innocent people. In 102 minutes, the world was forever changed
by one of the worst attacks the United States has ever experienced. Many factors made the
terrorist attacks of September 11th a day that is permanently etched into the hearts and minds of
Americans. Nineteen radicals linked to the Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda gained control over
four airplanes and carried out attacks against targets in the United States on 9/11. (History.com
Authors) Their leader, Osama Bin Laden, and his followers viciously opposed the United States.
In al Qaeda s opinion, the United States was an infidel because it was not governed in a manner
consistent with the group s extremist interpretation of Islam. Other characteristics of America
aggravated the extremist group as well, including our foreign policy and supporting enemies of al
Qaeda. Because of his hatred of America, Bin Laden declared a Jihad, or holy war, against the
United States, which he has carried out through al Qaeda and its affiliated organizations. (Smith) As
a result, the United States faced many violent attacks with the group, including the bombing in
1993 that took place before the attacks on September 11th. In September 1992, Ramzi Ahmed

How Did World War 1 Occur
World War one happened because an archduke of Austria Hungary named Franz Ferdinand was
assassinated by a Serbian nationalist. It was the first world war and it was also a global war that
began in Europe on the 28th of July 1914. The United Sates got into the war when they joined
their allies; France, Britain, and Russia. First the U.S. wanted to remain neutral but, instead they
decided to join. Some soldiers wanted to remain neutral. The trigger for the war was the
assassination of Ferdinand. The triple Entente and the Central Powers were fighting against each

Gum disease, a condition that involves the gums becoming swollen, sore and in some cases
infected, happens to be an extremely common condition. It s estimated to affect more than half of
the adult population in the UK alone whether it s mild or severe. In fact, the vast majority of
people suffer from it at least once a month if not more however, it s much less common in
children. If you suffer from gum disease yourself, you may find that your gums bleed when you
brush them and you may even suffer from bad breath. This initial stage of gum disease is known as

Molecular Dynamics Based Investigation to Study the Effect of Pair of Stone Thrower Wales
Defects on the Mechanical Response and Failure Morphology of Graphene
G. Rajasekaran, Rajesh Kumar and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial
Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India
ABSTRACT
Structural defects are inevitable in graphene due to its production techniques as well as chemical
and heat treatment processes. These defects in graphene are introduced either during the
production process or deliberately by us to tailor its properties. In this article, the effect of
nearest neighbour distance and angular orientation between Stone Thrower Wales defects (STW
2) on the mechanical properties and failure morphology of graphene was investigated in the
frame of molecular dynamics. Mechanical properties and failure morphology of graphene was
predicted to be the function of angular orientation between STW 2 defects, when the nearest
neighbour distance was in the range of 10 Г…. Graphene sheet containing pair of STW 2 defects
had shown an overall increase of 8% and 11% in fracture strength and strain respectively as

The Crusades Of The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages, there was a series of seven wars that lasted seven centuries known as the
Crusades. Each Crusader Army had one major goal: to recapture Jerusalem from the Seljuk Turks,
the land where Jesus had been crucified. Historical narratives often depict the first Crusaders as
warriors and religious heroes because they succeeded in temporarily recapturing the Holy Land.
While the Second Crusade depicted the crusaders as a mass failure when they lost the land they
were protecting, the third crusade portrayed them as religious heroes once again, when Richard the
Lionheart almost captured the Holy Land again. However, the Fourth Crusadeshattered all hopes of
recapturing Jerusalem. The Roman Catholic people had high expectations for the war, but it ended
horribly when the crusaders attacked their own allies in Constantinople. This tragedy was a major
turning point during these wars because it changed how the crusaders were viewed. The failure of
the 4th crusaders forces historians to wonder how a well trained army failed to attack their enemies
and instead attacked the very people they wanted to protect. When one examines the issues
encountered by the crusaders, the greediness of the Venetians, the political struggles of
Constantinople, and the spread of Greek cultures, one can better understand the cause and effect of
the Fourth crusade.
The war began in a rush by the new young and ambitious pope, Innocent the Third who was
overshadowed by his dream to succeed

Technology Takeover In The United States
Technology Takeover Is the use of technology taking over in the United States? The answer is
yes, we the human race use technology every day in businesses, education, and entertainment.
Some may refute and say that technology is not taking over but is helping us advance in life.
First of all, businesses are being over ran by technology. When a business places an order for
equipment or supplies, technology come into play. When supplies, equipment or even looking at

Did The French Revolution Influence The Enlightenment Idea...
During the late eighteenth century, the people of France began to feel a sense of dissatisfaction
towards the government due to a number of causes. Many scholars argue that the nobility and
bourgeoisie, or middle class, had internal conflicts with each other or that the two classes had
similar interests and formed an educated elite. In addition, France was very poor at the time and
sported a massive financial debt due to the nation s participation in the American Revolution. This
in turn led to famine and popular unrest within the citizens of France. Although many monarchs,
such as Louis XIV and those of Prussia and Austria, opposed the idea of a revolution, the citizens,
influenced by Enlightenment ideas, realized that kings were unnecessary and overthrew... Show

Due to the enormous national debt, King Louis XIV had no choice but to increase taxes. In
1787, the minister of finance imposed a tax on all land and formed assemblies to help institute
the tax. The minister persuaded Louis XIV to call an Assembly of Notables, or a group of
nobles and clergy, to gain support for the heavy taxation. The notables advocated for a meeting of
the Estates General since the sizable tax would have a great impact on the economy of the nation.
The Estates General was essentially a legislative body made up of representatives from the three
social classes; the last time it met prior to the 1789 congregation was in 1614. The clergy, nobility,
and commoners each elected their representatives separately and created a list of grievances.

Large Events Of Philadelphia
Liabilities of Large Events
Philadelphia consistently ranks among one of the most popular cities in the United States, both in
terms of visitation and in terms of global recognition. This ranking is driven by prominent events in
the past, and 2016 will be no different. Events such as the papal visit and the democratic nomination
convention will inevitably influence Philadelphia s economy, and it has long been an accepted
notion that these events cause a positive impact. However, recent studies have begun to erode this
misconception. The disastrous papal visit proved the economic harm of large scale events, and in
events such as the upcoming Democratic national convention, Philadelphia shouldn t expect any
significant economic windfall. The large influx of tourists coming to city for large events repels
local citizens who consume from local businesses, resulting in local businesses being forced to fall
behind schedule.
The Papal visit was projected to generate 400 million dollars for the city, but instead exemplifies
the way in which super events can go awry (Debree 2). Pope Francis visited the city of
Philadelphia from September 26th through the 27th, and predictably paranoia ensued. Hundreds of
thousands of people flooded the city for the opportunity to watch the pope speak. The damage was
assessed weeks later. City controller Alan Butkovitz published an analysis in October of 2015
detailing the Papal visit s economic impact and his conclusions were undeniably grim.

Cambodia, Congo, And Jamaica
Case Study: Cambodia, Congo, and Jamaica
Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Jamaica are countries that gained
independence from European powers after World War II. Though located in different regions of the
world, and colonized by different European powers, these countries experienced social unrest and
economic challenges that remain. Key to understanding these countries is understanding their
histories and struggles, which continue to have significant impact on conditions within these
countries today.
Cambodia
Cambodia s history contrasts a glorious past with recent tragedy. Located in Southeast Asia between
Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia s history of conflict with its neighbors and European colonialism
has led to distrust and nationalism. Fear of foreign occupation or being partitioned by its neighbors
lingers in the Cambodian national psychology. Once part of French Indochina, Cambodian gained
independence in 1953 when King Sihanouk convinced France that only complete independence
would undercut the appeal of communism in Cambodia.
The Khmer Empire began approximately 800 CE when King Jayavarman II subjugated the small
warring kingdoms around Tonle Sap Lake and expanded to cover most of Thailand and Laos.
Because of established trade routes, art and culture were strongly influenced by India. Hinduism
was the major religion in addition to Buddhism, animist, and traditional religions. (Plubins 2013)

For the track Doo Wop ( That Thing), Hill comments on self respect and how the issue of sex
dominates society. For instance with the lyrics, Don t think I haven t been through the same

remove the inorganic beauty products. In Doo Wop, Hill tells men and women to avoid societal
pressures and become independent. For the track Doo Wop, the song starts with a piano, a deep
bass, and a simple hip hop beat. This sound sets the tone for the rest of the song because it
intertwines classical, soul, and R B music together. The intertwining of the different beats meshes
well with the acapella style of singing Hill uses in the song causing an earthy feel to the song. The
vocals in the song are loud and powerful which helps communicates the theme of self respect and

Sports In The 1920s Essay
The 1920s has been called the Golden Age of American Sports. It also has been called the Age of
the Spectator. The United States had a strong economy for most of that decade. Many workers
had more leisure time. New and bigger stadiums and gymnasiums were built. The introduction of
radio made it easier for fans to keep up with their favorite teams. Newspapers increased their
coverage of sports. Improvements in roads made it possible for fans to travel to athletic events in
distant cities. For the first time, large numbers of Americans began to pay money to watch other

Boxing was popular too. Heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey was almost as famous as Ruth.
Horse racing, golf, and tennis all had their fans. College basketball was still a young sport.
Professional football and basketball were minor sports.
North Carolina followed most of these trends, although professional boxing and horse racing events

Importance Of Mentoring In Nursing
No one enjoys going to the ER when they are ill or having to spend the night in the hospital for
observation, but we never consider what type of mentoring was given to the nurse assisting us. We
arrive at the hospital assured that the people giving service has been given the opportunity to have
the support and training they need. Yet we know healthcare, healthcare leadership, and healthcare
training is constantly evolving. Nursing education is a field where protocols and procedures are
taught pretty much the same yet there are no true protocols for mentors that help encourage and
support new nurses in developing the confidence they will need to control and conquer challenges.
Research shows nurses need to be developed in two key areas facilitating students and strengthening
students in clinical placement . (Jokelainen, p. 2860) Facilitating students create a community
where nurses are nurtured and supported. Clinical placement ensures nurses are educated and
groomed into professionals in their clinical environment. Each area deals with creating an
environment where a new nurse is given structure and support throughout their new career. The
review of A Systematic Review of Mentoring Nursing Students in Clinical Placement aims to focus
attention on the relevance of mentorship for veteran nurses to train and assist new nurses during
their clinical studies. These studies were performed in European Union countries during the years
of 2009 2011. (Jokelainen, p. 2855)

Acetic acid was added to 4 methyl 2 pentanol, which was catalyzed by sulfuric acid. This
produced the desired ester and water. After the ester was isolated a percent yield of 55.1% was
calculated from the 0.872 g of ester recovered. This quantitative error was most likely due to
product getting stuck in the apparatus. The boiling point of the ester was 143В° C, only one

If necessary the centrifuge can also be used to further separate the two layers. A final means of
drying the ester product is the addition of granular sodium sulfate. The purity and identity of the
product can be determined through the use of smell, IR spectroscopy and melting point
determination. A general idea of what the ester is can be obtained by smell. Esters can have
specific smells and if the scent can be determined, one may have an idea of the ester was created.
IR spectroscopy will identify the bonds of the functional groups. The ester can be considered
pure if there are no additional peaks on the IR spectrum. For example, if a peak corresponding to
an alcohol group appeared on the IR spectrum it would mean the ester is not completely pure.
Melting point can also be used to confirm the identity and how pure the final product is.
Comparison of the experimental melting point and the literature value allows for determination
of how close the experimental value is to the literature value. If the experimental value is within
the range of the literature value, the product can be considered pure. Procedure: A 10 mL round

Volkswagen Business Ethics Essay
Abstract
In this paper, we will look at the business ethics controversy that was caused by Volkswagen and
the company had to pay up to $15 billion dollars to settle a civil court case. The controversy was
caused when it was found out that Volkswagen had installed a device in their diesel engine cars.
This device reduced pollution caused by the engine when it was being tested for emissions. This
resulted in cheating the authorities and promoting Volkswagenas an environmentally friendly car
when it was not actually one. It had these devices installed on most of its car models. The
company initially had an increase in sales but then was eventually caught and had to pay a large
sum of money as mentioned above to settle a lawsuit.

On September 18, 2015 Volkswagen hit the news with a scandal relating to unethical practices
involved in the production of its diesel cars (McHugh, 2015, October 12, para. 3). Volkswagen
used a device to pass the emissions test when the emissions on these cars were higher than the
allowed levels; thereby the company cheated the system.
Emissions Device The company declared that it had a cheat device installed on its 11 million
diesel operated cars. What the device did was that it lowered the engines emissions when it was
going through an emissions test. The car easily passed the emissions test and later the device
returned emission levels back to normal,

Mexican Earthquake Essay
While Mexico was in the middle of an economic crisis, Mother Nature did not care about their
dyer situation. In fact, it turns out that she wanted to take out a bit of revenge on the people of
Mexico for what they had done to the world due to their oil extraction crusade. And how did she
extract her revenge onto the country of Mexico? Well, on September 19, 1985 around 7:15 in the
morning, we are demonstrated on how she decided to extract her revenge, by summoning a massive
earthquake, with a magnitude of 8.0, onto the capital of Mexico, Mexico City. This earthquake was
recorded as one Mexico s worst earthquake that they have ever experienced, and probably one of
the deadliest of all Mexican history. However, it wasn t just the earthquake that ruined Mexico,
nor did the aftershocks as well. Since Mexico was in the middle of an economic crisis and the
country had a newly elected president, Miguel de la Madrid, the government of Mexico couldn t
be able to respond to the tragedy during this time. There was no real plan for them to try and fix up
the earthquake situation. Thus, this further divided the country even more. So much so that
according to Esteva, the earthquake had brought in a new civil response towards their government,
in which, gave rise to a new way of doing radical politics...attributed to the network of community
reconstruction groups (58). And this is something in which Mexico still suffers to this day. Military
vehicles and troopers patrolling around cities seems to be quite a common thing to see now a day....

Contrasts between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann’s Romeo and...
Contrasts between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s Romeo and Juliet There are many differences,
large and small, between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s version of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet.
After seeing the first scene of both of these films, some notable contrasts became clear. The
props used in both films differ greatly, in the 1967 version, very dated costumes were used, it
looked like the director wanted a medieval style to be shown in the film judging by the costumes
and props used. Real swords were drawn by the Capulet s and the Montague s as the play suggests
but the fighting seemed quite unbelievable to a modern day viewer as did some of the stalls used in
the small market surroundings.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scenery in each play also differs greatly; the 1967 version is set in a medieval village with
castles and a small market. Again its age shows as the buildings and backdrops look quite fake
against the modern scenery in the 1997 film. Good lighting is used in the older film but again
the newer one has realistic effects and buildings and overall has better quality scenery. In both
films, certain lines are missed out or changed slightly; I think the language used is basically the
same but in the market it was hard at times to hear what exactly was being said over all the noise
of the villagers. Although Luhrmann did a good job of bringing modern props into the film, the
language used in play sounded odd coming from modern people, dressed in modern clothes at a
petrol station. So I think the older film did a better job with the language despite the hearing
difficulty in some parts. The Acting quality was good in both films, but I found the style in the
early 1967 version was boring and the fight scenes were slightly unbelievable. The 1997 version
was more exciting and kept u interested but there wasn t really much between the two films in the
quality of acting. Finally I looked at the different camera techniques used, it was interesting to see
that both plays had shots of the legs or shoes of one of the families, Zeffirelli shot

4. Why do you think that happened to her?
In my opinion I think she probably used the word in her work environment with Lisa Jackson. She
has probably used it so many times that Lisa got tired hearing it and dealing with it, she finally
went to go report it.
5. Discuss the public issue of making statements for or against specific group of persons.
Some things you can and cannot say to people regardless of their situation. Reasons are because
you never know what they are going through, they grieve, and may not agree to what you have to

Literary Analysis over One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest Essay
LITERARY ANALYSIS One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is a novel written by Ken Kesey
during a time in our society when pressures of our modern world seemed at their greatest. Many
people were, at this time, deemed by society s standards to be insane and institutionalized. One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is set in a ward of a mental institution. The major conflict in the novel
is that of power. Power is a recurring and overwhelming theme throughout the novel. Kesey shows
the power of women who are associated with the patients, the power Nurse Ratched has, and also
the power McMurphy fights to win. By default, he also shows how little power the patients have.

Laughter makes the patients feel good, and, specifically, Bromden feels good and begins to
remember other things that made him feel good (Tanner 4). McMurphy s power in laughter is
intensified by Nurse Ratched s lack of laughter. McMurphy s laughter and humor are genuine
while Nurse Ratched s humor is forced and smiles are chiseled like in plastic (Wallace 3, 5).
Power enables McMurphy to make changes on the ward and to survive in the institution. His
sanity compared to the other patients, his manipulations, and his ability to laugh give him the
power. He, in turn, gives patients a sense of power by teaching them to laugh at themselves,
Nurse Ratched, and the world (Magill 1533). Second in a discussion of power are the women
associated with the patients. The supervisor at the hospital is associated with the patients by
controlling who is employed to take care of the patients. Nurse Ratched and the supervisor
served in the Army together as nurses. They are still very close and have a good relationship.
Because of this relationship, Nurse Ratched s employment is secured and others won t stand up
to her for fear of losing their own jobs. Harding states In this hospital, the doctor doesn t hold the
power of hiring and firing. That power goes to the supervisor and the supervisor is a woman, a dear
old friend of Miss Ratched s (61). The receptionist on the ward is Nurse Ratched s neighbor

Struma Ovarii Case Study
Struma ovarii rarely occurs before puberty and majority of the cases are benign and nonfunctional.
Mature struma ovarii tumors are unilateral in most of the patients with the exception of three cases
(1, 2) reported to be bilateral, including our case. All three cases were multicystic with size ranging
from 2 to 12 cm and composed of benign thyroid follicles without features of malignancy. (Table 1)
Serum thyroid hormone levels were within normal limits in both cases. (1, 2) There are several
variants of struma ovarii but two most important variants reported are strumal carcinoid and benign
strumosis. In a rare case of benign strumosis, mature thyroid tissue components are present in the
peritoneal cavity while strumal carcinoid has carcinoid... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malignant struma ovarii tumors are divided into three categories on the basis of histology. (17)
The first papillary type is the most common characterized by overlapping nuclei or ground glass
appearance. The second follicular type is characterized by vascular or capsular invasion (10).
The third type is follicular variant of papillary carcinoma. Metastasis is very rare in case of
malignant struma ovarii (5%) which follows the pattern of ovarian tumor. It can metastasize to
pelvic, para aortic lymph nodes, direct spread to omentum and peritoneal cavity and
hematologic spread to lung, bone, liver and brain (11, 12). There are a lot of difficulties in the
clinical diagnosis of struma ovarii due to the absence of specific diagnostic criteria. The imaging
studies used in diagnosing struma ovarii are ultrasonogram, CT and MRI. The findings on
imaging studies are also nonspecific. Triple contrast CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis should
be performed to evaluate the extent of disease and the involvement of lymph nodes and other
adjacent structures (e.g., bowel). Typically, struma ovarii appear as a multicystic mass with no or
moderate cystic wall enhancement. In addition to basic metabolic panel CA 125, CEA, CA19 9
tumor markers along with Iodine 125 uptake are performed preoperatively. CA 125 is found to be

Dorset girl doing what was considered correct by spudding up docks or becoming ruined and
leading a high quality life, having the ability to strut about town . The Ruined Maid begins by
two former friends meeting, one a country girl and the other women, who was once a country girl,

Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Essay If you could erase any memories you wanted,
would you? The connection between our memories and our ability to feel joy is very closely
related. Recalling memories are something we do multiple times every day. Memories are a
place where emotions, feelings, experiences, and who we are as a person reside. Without our
memories, we would be very different than how we are right now. Many times we find ourselves
wishing we could forget certain things, but we do not realize that if we wouldn t have the

There is not one memory that anyone can recall that they won t feel any sort of emotion for
rather good or bad. Joy and sadness are the two main emotions we feel when we recall memories.
We can t have one without the other. When we remember things they are broken up into good
and bad memories. For example, when something horrible happens to us like a break up mostly
all the memories which were once joyful will then become sad. Those now sad memories have
the ability to affect the way you feel in everyday life. This is where memories can be a bad
thing, say in a year I meet someone new I could easily run away and hide because I fear what
happened to me before might happen again because I remember the pain I felt. On the other
hand, how can I experience joy if I don t remember what pain feels like. This might seem like a
funny concept, but if we lived in a world where we could forget all the bad things that have
happened and some of the good things we would not know what real joy feels like cause we
would always just be stuck in the same

Comparing Shakespeare s Shall I Compare Thee to a...
Poetry Comparison There are certain themes and ideas which appear over and over again in
literature, no matter what the genre or form. Poems which were written centuries apart can echo
similar ideas about life and humanity. Love is one such theme which presents itself repeatedly
as seen in the poetry of William Shakespeare and that of Robert Burns. Each poem, though
written more than two hundred years apart, explains what it feels like for the poet to feel love
for the singular object of their affection. The poem Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day by
Shakespeare and Burns A Red, Red Rose share common images and themes with the intention of
instilling in the reader the impression of their love and in explaining the depth of their emotion
for the beloved as well as the respective poets ideas about the very nature of love and how it can
be both passionately fulfilling and devastating. William Shakespeare s 18 Sonnet, more popularly
known as the Shall I Compare Thee sonnet, is about a lover who is speaking to his beloved. Most
sonnets serve this same function; to profess love from the sonneteer to some individual whom he
loves. In these poems, the lover always uses the most amazing adjectives to describe the woman, or
sometimes the man, that he loves. The poet describes every component of his beloved, such as her
hair and her lips and her eyes. Although not a sonnet, Robert Burns poem has the same function; it
is a love poem from the unnamed narrator to the

Obesity Is Common All Over The United States Society Today
There are a variety of public issues in the United States society today. Many people are facing
some type of illness or disease, one we do not consider a major problem until just recently.
Obesity is a disease/condition that many people in America are suffering from. Really obesity
can be defined in many different ways; Mayo Clinic defines obesity as a complex disorder
involving an excessive amount of body fat (Obesity, 2015). When a person is diagnosed having
this disease/condition it can cause many health problems such as, diabetes, heart trouble, high and
low blood pressure. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than
one third (34.9% or 78.6 million) of U.S adults are obese. ( Adult Obesity Facts, 2015).... Show

Adding, many factors have been shown that Obesity should be taken more seriously then what
many people consider. Factors of a person becoming obese can be all of the following,
community and environment, drugs, lack of exercise, unhealthy diet, lack of sleep, bad habits
(smoking and drinking), genetics, social and economic issues, and one of the most important is
they way a person s family lives. Obesity can happen so quickly in young children if their family
does not do anything to make sure their children are getting enough exercise and good nutrition.
First, community and the environment play a role in exercise. A way a person can help prevent
becoming overweight, if living on a farm or in a neighborhood. Gather friends, family, or even
pets and take them for a walk, ride a bike, run, and some if close enough may walk to work. It is
very important to make sure environments are created to make it simpler and easier to participate
in physical exercise and maintaining a healthy diet. Next, drugs can have impact on your body
weight. Many may not realize how much drugs can have an effect on our bodies and health in
general. The pharmacist that I work for told me that most of your antidepressants (Wellbutrin) or
steroids could cause us to gain weight. Along with Antihistamines (Zyrtec), Antihypertensive (blood

Analysis Of In The Mood For Love
One of the most important components for the movie is aesthetic. The reason is that aesthetic can
create atmosphere and mood. Especially, one of the most famous Hong kong director Wong Kar
Wai, who direct In the mood for Love (2000) put many elements of Aesthetic such as Mise en scene,
sounds and cinematography. Aesthetic is an essential factor to construct a character, and create
mood. Especially Wong Kar Wai has unique aesthetic to elicit emotion. Those components can bring
audience to the movie. In this essay, I will argue that the subject of heartrending but romantic
narrative has been depicted through the two components which are mise en scene, cinematography
and sound. This will be done by analyzing every scene, followed by analyzing each element of the
film aesthetic.
The feature expressing style of Wong Kar Wai is indirection. Wong Kar Wai expresses indirect
character s emotion and thoughts. The main character of In the mood for love is Tony Leung, who
acts Mr. Chow in this movie, Tony Leung is a famous actor as The Grandmaster (2013) directed
by Wong Kar Wai. Maggie Cheung acts Mrs. Chan in the same movie for the main character.
Maggie is a famous actor as HERO (2002) directed by Zhang Yimou. The story of In the mood for

A Constructivist approach according to Wenglisnky, H.,(2005) will use technology to help a student
better learn and understand a given topic, using visual aids, programs etc. While a didactic will do
the complete opposite. It will combine the larger picture of a scenario, going into advanced and
more complicated problems that the student can understand.
Aside from the teaching methods used in a technology based education system. There is always
constructive ways to use technology as well as unconstructive ways. In a classroom environment
a teacher may ask students to do research on a given topic, while setting standards of plagiarism
and showing students how to complete research at an early age. It can also be beneficial for
students to familiarize themselves with commonly used programs and software used in today s
work industry, such as Microsoft word and power point. It can give the student the ease and facility
to find the resources needed at his fingertips.
At the same time it can be very un constructive for a student if he or she uses technology in a
classroom for entertainment and media. While most schools and universities do a very good job in
filtering their systems so that students do not access these websites, student always find a way to
get to them. It is also possible that the use of a computer or technology can limit a student in certain
instances. For instance, a student may be given an assignment to

Title: 5 Songs We Must Ban From High School Couples

As I write this, I m in between apartments and living at home for the time being, so I ve taken this
moment of desperate, post collegiate aimlessness solitude to clean out my childhood bedroom.
The small pile of sweat stained band t shirts, folders of AP History notes my high school teachers
insisted I d need in college, and Mad Magazine issues are worth some nostalgic currency, but I had

And, like, ever since you fell for your Winter Ball date a couple weeks ago, this song has been
screaming from every open locker vent and car radio. It s like being a kid again, but also, like,
becoming an adult too.
Do you really want a small taste of adulthood though? Go to any liberal arts college with a large
sized quad on a warm autumn day. Target the frat boy wearing socks with sandals and carrying
an acoustic guitar. Join the slowly forming circle of kids with no coordination trying to bob
along and listen closely. Yes, between covers of Wagon Wheel , any John Mayer single, and
Santeria , this young troubadour s secret weapon is First Day of My Life . This song has played
the our song role to so many past, doomed relationships now, it has jumped into the lexicon of
alpha bros five songs they know on guitar that ll get them laid. Conor Oberst would weep over the
fate of his song, but wiping his tears with all the hundred dollar bills he s made from it give him
papercuts.
No One s Gonna Love You by Band of Horses For those looking for that cute, slow folk song about
love to fill the void after First Day of My Life tires a bit, the next logical step would be No One s
Gonna Love You . It sounds like a rather damning title, but wait, the full lyric is no one is ever
gonna love you more than I do , making it surprisingly uber cute, right?
No. Stop it. Read all

  • 3. Thesis For Thirteen Reasons Why Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher is a novel surrounding Clay Jensen and the late Hannah Baker. Hannah Baker had recently committed suicide and recorded her reasons for doing so on cassette tapes, then sent the tapes to the thirteen people she deems responsible, in some way, for her death. Clay Jensen receives the cassette tapes one morning and follows Hannah s instructions. She directs him through the city as he listens to her retell the events that led up to her suicide. Asher s novelhas made me rethink the way I interact with my peers. I have learned how to detect subtle bullying and stick up for the person being bullied. Hannah experienced various forms of bullying throughout the novel. Some were miniscule acts of cruelty, primarily meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one girl whom she thought was truly her friend turned out to be using her. Hannah had no one to confide in whenever she was upset. There was no one to notice how much she was changing as she slipped deeper and deeper into her depression. Her own guidance counselor neglected her and did not realize the how much help Hannah truly needed. Hannah needed someone to listen to her problems and provide solutions or ways to cope. Whenever my friends are upset, I am always the first to ask, What s wrong? I would hate for one of my friends to end up like Hannah because they thought they did not have someone to confide in. I tell my friends that I am always there for them and if they ever need someone to talk to about their problems, I am there for them. I suggest to my friends ways to cope with stress or sadness, such as doodling or walking around their neighborhoods. The way I usually suggest is to write all of the thoughts in their heads down in a journal. I let my friends know that they are loved and that I would be devastated if something happened to them. I believe it is important for everyone to know that they are appreciated and that someone understands what they are going ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. An Ice Calorimeter Determination of Reaction Enthalpy Thermochemistry: An Ice Calorimeter Determination of Reaction Enthalpy D. F. Nachman 6/23/2010 Abstract: An ice calorimeter was used to study the reaction of magnesium metal and 1.00M sulfuric acid solution: Mg(s) + H2SO4(aq) в†’пЂ MgSO4(aq) + H2(g). We found the experimental molar enthalpy of reaction to be О”H = 355 В± 17 kJ/mol at 0В°C, 24% lower than the textbook value of О”HВ° = 466.9 kJ/mol, reported at 25В°C. Introduction Whether a chemical reaction occurs spontaneously or is driven by an outside force, it almost always exchanges energy with the surroundings. Energy exchange can occur as work or as heat flow. When a reaction occurs under constant pressure conditions, we call the heat portion of the energy exchanged the enthalpy change of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Calculations The reaction between magnesium metal and sulfuric acid released heat, which melted some of the ice in the calorimeter. Because ice takes up more volume per gram than liquid water, this melting produced a drop in pipette readings. For each gram of ice that melted, the volume change was calculated from the density values of water and ice at 0 В°C: dice пЂЅпЂ 0.9157 g 1 mL , so the specific volume of ice = 1 mL 0.9157 g пЂЅпЂ 1.0920 mL ice 1 g H2O dliquid пЂЅпЂ 0.9998 g 1 mL , so the specific volume of liquid = 1 mL 0.9998 g пЂЅпЂ 1.0002 mL 1 g The difference between the two specific volume values gives the volume change per gram of melting ice: 0.0918 mL/g. The estimated total volume change is shown in Figure 1. Because the slope of the data trend after the reaction did not match the slope of the data trend before the reaction, using the equations of the trend lines gave a range of О”V values: О”Vmin = 0.8989 0.5914+[630*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[630*0.00025]=0.465 mL О”Vavg = 0.8989 0.5914+[720*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[720*0.00025]=0.488 mL О”Vmax = 0.8989 0.5914+[810*( 0.00005+0.0003)]=0.3075+[810*0.00025]=0.510 mL These volume changes correspond to the following masses of ice melt: 0.465 mL melt пЂЎпЂ 1 g ice 0.0918 mL melt

Sadly, the world we live in doesn t work the same way as Head Start. I do not watch TV at all, but when I used to I don t remember really seeing many commercials or shows that blatantly disrespected people with disabilities, but what little I have seen in the media seems be geared toward gaining pity for those individuals. This always saddens me, as in my mind every individual has some sort of disability, some are just more pronounced than others. • 8. Everyone Needs Health Care At The Jungles Of Congo Everyone needs health care, from the mountains of Colorado to the jungles of Liberia. Therefore, it is hard to argue that the medical community is not one of the most essential in our society. However, many people go to their doctor s office and either complain about the paperwork, the wait, or how the staff treated them. The medical culture is paramount to our society because it serves our community by maintaining human health, analyzes health trends, deals with insurance companies and even aids low income individuals to get the proper care they require to live a healthy life. Judging from past experiences and what seems like public opinion, the doctor s office is a place where many people associate their time there with anxiously waiting... Surprisingly, a female patient in about her 60s walked in with homemade brownies to pass to all the staff at the office as appreciation. However, according to Krizia Martinez (2016), an employee of a family practice, not all patients are as wonderful as the one mentioned, they have regular patients that seem to treat the front desk staff as people below them, often treating them with attitude or not acknowledging their existence as humans (Martinez, personal communication, July 02, 2016). Nevertheless, the staff seems to continue to do their jobs and take care of patients, regardless of how they are treated. This behavior reveals the intent of unbiased medical care for patients. From my view, there seemed to be a lot of work being done, even when there were not any patients waiting in the lobby. There are other responsibilities, other than dealing with patients directly, to take care of. As told by Krizia Martinez (2016), a medical biller, there is special coding used to bill insurance companies called ICD 10. This coding can refer to general issues such as an annual physical examination or to a specific issue such as a scratch from a squirrel (Martinez, personal communication, July 02, 2016). • 9. Essay on The History of Hitler and the Nazi Regime The History of Hitler and the Nazi Regime In the Second World War, a man named Adolph Hitler, the leader of the infamous Nazi regime, had a plethora of things on his mind. From guarding the stricken land of Poland against Soviet advancement, to making sure the western shores of the Atlantic Ocean in France were closely guarded, Hitler had much to worry about. Unfortunately, it was during Hitler s reign when a most horrible atrocity took place. Adolph Hitler was born on April 20th, 1889 in a small hamlet named Braunau Am Inn, just across the border from German Bavaria. Hitler s childhood was often riddled with abuse and physical beatings. His family lived in a small farmhouse with 10 other people. Because of this, Adolph s older ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1920, Hitler modified a common ancient symbol to form the swastika, or twisted cross, as a symbol for his party. He then changed the name of the party to the National Socialist German Worker s Party, or, in the shortened German form, the NAZI party (Keegan 65). By 1921, the Nazi party had over 3000 members, mostly drawing in large numbers of ultra conservatives from Munich. In late 1921, Hitler traveled to Berlin to try and find more members for his party, but quickly returned, for the members of his party had signed a coup, which attempted to try and overthrow Hitler. Offended, Hitler resigned his position, only to be asked to join again two weeks later. He knew the party was nothing without him (Gilber 54). Between 1921 and 1923, Germany had collapsed into financial ruin. Germany was presented with a 33 billion dollar bill, as reparations as a result of World War I. Inflation hit the roof, and the economy was finished. It took 4 billion marks to buy a loaf of bread. Life savings were completely wiped out. As a result, riots broke out. These riots incited extremist political groups into action, quickly bringing Germany to the brink of chaos. In 1923, the Nazi s had a party population of 55,000 members, far more than any extremist group vying for power. Hitler, knowing this, devised a plan, in which the Nazi s would kidnap the leaders of the Bavarian government, and hold them at gunpoint until they accepted Hitler as their leader. The kidnapping was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Music and the Mind Essay When Albert Einstein was a young kid, his teachers believed that he was too stupid to learn They suggested to his mother that he just skip school and start manual labor early, because he was a hopeless case. But despite everything, his mother continued to make him go to school; in addition, she also bought him a violin. Violin soon became one of his greatest passions, and he even stated himself, that playing the violin was what made him intelligent. His friend, G.J. Withrow had said, that whenever Einstein had trouble figuring out an equation he would go and improvise on the violin. One reason that suggests this may have really helped him is that music has been proven to have short term improvement on the performance of one s spatial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is, however, evidence behind Mozart and the slight improvement in test scores. It s effectiveness is shown through the results of an IQ test performed on three groups of college students. The first group listened to Mozart s Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major before taking the IQ test. The second group listened to a relaxation tape and the third group had nothing to listen to. The results showed that the first group s average had a difference of 9 points (119) compared to the third group (110), who had sat in silence, while the second group only had a one point increase from the group who sat in silence. So Mozart can increase your IQ up to 9 points, it may not be a huge, but there s still a noticeable difference. A method created by Dr. George Lozanov, a very well known Bulgarian psychologist, was proven to teach foreign languages to students in just a fraction of time it usually took. The system had students learn the same amount of grammar and vocabulary typically learned in one school term (about 1,000 words and phrases) taken in all within a day. To do this, he used certain classical music pieces from the Baroque period that contained the 60 beat per minute pattern in his lessons. Through his method he proved that foreign languages can be learned with 85 100% efficiency in only 30 days with these pieces. What they found, was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Pros and Cons of RussiaВґs Economy Essay Russia s economy is very complex and also very terrible at the same time. Many other economy s are also like this but Russia s is a very interesting thing to learn about. Russia s economy has many things wrong with it that in the long run could probably affected it in a negative way. But it also has many positive things about it.The negatives and the positives are, in my opinion, are equal in Russiaeconomy. Lets start out with the good things that Russia s economy has. Another reason that their economy won t fall is they still have a budget surplus which it s GDP isn t very high. And one of the most important reasons is that Russia s unemployment rate is at one of it s lowest in Soviet history. So, based on those facts it s safe to say that the Russian economy isn t going to crash anytime soon. Russia s economy has been becoming tight on public finances but they believe that it ll help their economy. The reason they think it ll help their economy is because it help keep inflationunder control. They are also trying to get interest rates cut down to a smaller amount which will also help out the economy. The Russian government has been preparing for big unemployment rises due to the monopolies. The monopolies are saying it ll help people find new jobs but it really won t because now they ll be on the unemployment list and will be having the government paying them until they find a new job. By having more people on the unemployment list it adds to the country s debt. Russia is already in debt and it couldn t really afford to be put into more. • 12. Slaughterhouse Five Symbolism Essay In the novel Slaughterhouse Five, an important motif is the phrase So it goes. This motif is repeatedly expressed to remind the reader throughout the course of the novel of all the tragic death that occurs as a result of the war. However, it doesn t just symbolize the death from the war, but also equalizes all death that occurred in this novel, whether natural, accidental, or intentional. This phrase also relates to the Tralfamadorians idea that even though someone is dead, they are still alive in a memory and time travel. The red light on the stoplight symbolizes death ending a person s life, while the green light symbolizes life, and the yellow light symbolizes time slowing down or travelling through time. This stoplight can relate to the novel Slaughterhouse Five because of the Tralfamadorian idea that even though a person is dead in that moment, they are alive in all the other moments of their life and in memory. When a Tralfamadorian sees a corpse, all he thinks is that the dead person is in bad condition in that particular moment, but that the same person is just fine in plenty of other moments. Now, when I myself see someone dead, I simply shrug and say what the Tralfamadorians say about dead people, which is So it goes (Vonnegut 27). This relates to the stoplight because whenever a Tralfamadorian sees death, or the red light, they stop and realize that they are alive in another moment or memory, the green light. Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 2004. The book, Sensory Design published by Joy Monice Malnar and Frank Vodvarka in 2004, explores a new multi sensory method of design for architects in 335 pages. The opening of the book starts with a question What if we designed for all senses? Very similar to articles from Pallasmaa, the book leaves the reader wanting to know more about this method although this book covered many topics and included many references. Malnar is an associate professor at the University of Illinois, and Vodvarka is an artist who wrote many articles on architectural history. The book consists of twelve chapters that propose this idea that designers should explore the nature of our senses response to the spatial built forms that people invest their time in. It tries to cover a specific topic in each chapter that in order to deconstruct the book, it is necessary to cover each chapter individually. The opening chapter describes a sense of place through few examples. A place is perceived through our sensory responses and cognitive memory which makes that space unique and special as a type. The second chapter overlooks a series of art movements such as De Stijl, Bauhaus, Enlightenment, CIAM, and the work of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This chapter attempts to find their position on senses and the cultural memory. The authors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New York s iconic World Trade Center fell victim to hijacked commercial airlines filled with innocent people. In 102 minutes, the world was forever changed by one of the worst attacks the United States has ever experienced. Many factors made the terrorist attacks of September 11th a day that is permanently etched into the hearts and minds of Americans. Nineteen radicals linked to the Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda gained control over four airplanes and carried out attacks against targets in the United States on 9/11. (History.com Authors) Their leader, Osama Bin Laden, and his followers viciously opposed the United States. In al Qaeda s opinion, the United States was an infidel because it was not governed in a manner consistent with the group s extremist interpretation of Islam. Other characteristics of America aggravated the extremist group as well, including our foreign policy and supporting enemies of al Qaeda. Because of his hatred of America, Bin Laden declared a Jihad, or holy war, against the United States, which he has carried out through al Qaeda and its affiliated organizations. (Smith) As a result, the United States faced many violent attacks with the group, including the bombing in 1993 that took place before the attacks on September 11th. • 22. The Crusades Of The Middle Ages During the Middle Ages, there was a series of seven wars that lasted seven centuries known as the Crusades. Each Crusader Army had one major goal: to recapture Jerusalem from the Seljuk Turks, the land where Jesus had been crucified. Historical narratives often depict the first Crusaders as warriors and religious heroes because they succeeded in temporarily recapturing the Holy Land. While the Second Crusade depicted the crusaders as a mass failure when they lost the land they were protecting, the third crusade portrayed them as religious heroes once again, when Richard the Lionheart almost captured the Holy Land again. However, the Fourth Crusadeshattered all hopes of recapturing Jerusalem. The Roman Catholic people had high expectations for the war, but it ended horribly when the crusaders attacked their own allies in Constantinople. This tragedy was a major turning point during these wars because it changed how the crusaders were viewed. The failure of the 4th crusaders forces historians to wonder how a well trained army failed to attack their enemies and instead attacked the very people they wanted to protect. When one examines the issues encountered by the crusaders, the greediness of the Venetians, the political struggles of Constantinople, and the spread of Greek cultures, one can better understand the cause and effect of the Fourth crusade. Large Events Of Philadelphia Liabilities of Large Events Philadelphia consistently ranks among one of the most popular cities in the United States, both in terms of visitation and in terms of global recognition. This ranking is driven by prominent events in the past, and 2016 will be no different. Events such as the papal visit and the democratic nomination convention will inevitably influence Philadelphia s economy, and it has long been an accepted notion that these events cause a positive impact. However, recent studies have begun to erode this misconception. The disastrous papal visit proved the economic harm of large scale events, and in events such as the upcoming Democratic national convention, Philadelphia shouldn t expect any significant economic windfall. The large influx of tourists coming to city for large events repels local citizens who consume from local businesses, resulting in local businesses being forced to fall behind schedule. • 36. Importance Of Mentoring In Nursing No one enjoys going to the ER when they are ill or having to spend the night in the hospital for observation, but we never consider what type of mentoring was given to the nurse assisting us. We arrive at the hospital assured that the people giving service has been given the opportunity to have the support and training they need. Yet we know healthcare, healthcare leadership, and healthcare training is constantly evolving. Nursing education is a field where protocols and procedures are taught pretty much the same yet there are no true protocols for mentors that help encourage and support new nurses in developing the confidence they will need to control and conquer challenges. Research shows nurses need to be developed in two key areas facilitating students and strengthening students in clinical placement . (Jokelainen, p. 2860) Facilitating students create a community where nurses are nurtured and supported. Clinical placement ensures nurses are educated and groomed into professionals in their clinical environment. Each area deals with creating an environment where a new nurse is given structure and support throughout their new career. The review of A Systematic Review of Mentoring Nursing Students in Clinical Placement aims to focus attention on the relevance of mentorship for veteran nurses to train and assist new nurses during their clinical studies. Fischer Esterification Fischer Esterification of (1,3 Dimethylbutyl) Acetate from 4 Methyl 2 Pentanol Alison Evans Anne Richards TA: Dylan Kahl Tuesday 11:30am 2:20pm 81807 Abstract: An ester was synthesized during an organic reaction and identified by IR spectroscopy and boiling point. Acetic acid was added to 4 methyl 2 pentanol, which was catalyzed by sulfuric acid. This produced the desired ester and water. After the ester was isolated a percent yield of 55.1% was calculated from the 0.872 g of ester recovered. This quantitative error was most likely due to product getting stuck in the apparatus. The boiling point of the ester was 143В° C, only one degree off from the theoretical boiling point of the ester 1,3 dimethylbutyl, 144 В° C. The values of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If necessary the centrifuge can also be used to further separate the two layers. A final means of drying the ester product is the addition of granular sodium sulfate. The purity and identity of the product can be determined through the use of smell, IR spectroscopy and melting point determination. A general idea of what the ester is can be obtained by smell. Esters can have specific smells and if the scent can be determined, one may have an idea of the ester was created. IR spectroscopy will identify the bonds of the functional groups. The ester can be considered pure if there are no additional peaks on the IR spectrum. For example, if a peak corresponding to an alcohol group appeared on the IR spectrum it would mean the ester is not completely pure. Melting point can also be used to confirm the identity and how pure the final product is. Comparison of the experimental melting point and the literature value allows for determination of how close the experimental value is to the literature value. If the experimental value is within the range of the literature value, the product can be considered pure. Procedure: A 10 mL round bottom flask was weighed both before and after approximately 1.5 mL of the given alcohol, 4 methyl 2 pentanol, was added. 3 mL of glacial acetic acid, one boiling chip, and 2 3 drops of concentrated sulfuric acid were added to the flask in that order. The controversy was caused when it was found out that Volkswagen had installed a device in their diesel engine cars. This device reduced pollution caused by the engine when it was being tested for emissions. This resulted in cheating the authorities and promoting Volkswagenas an environmentally friendly car when it was not actually one. It had these devices installed on most of its car models. In fact, it turns out that she wanted to take out a bit of revenge on the people of Mexico for what they had done to the world due to their oil extraction crusade. And how did she extract her revenge onto the country of Mexico? Well, on September 19, 1985 around 7:15 in the morning, we are demonstrated on how she decided to extract her revenge, by summoning a massive earthquake, with a magnitude of 8.0, onto the capital of Mexico, Mexico City. This earthquake was recorded as one Mexico s worst earthquake that they have ever experienced, and probably one of the deadliest of all Mexican history. However, it wasn t just the earthquake that ruined Mexico, nor did the aftershocks as well. Since Mexico was in the middle of an economic crisis and the country had a newly elected president, Miguel de la Madrid, the government of Mexico couldn t be able to respond to the tragedy during this time. There was no real plan for them to try and fix up the earthquake situation. Thus, this further divided the country even more. So much so that according to Esteva, the earthquake had brought in a new civil response towards their government, in which, gave rise to a new way of doing radical politics...attributed to the network of community reconstruction groups (58). Contrasts between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s Romeo and Juliet There are many differences, large and small, between Zeffirelli and Luhrmann s version of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. After seeing the first scene of both of these films, some notable contrasts became clear. The props used in both films differ greatly, in the 1967 version, very dated costumes were used, it looked like the director wanted a medieval style to be shown in the film judging by the costumes and props used. Real swords were drawn by the Capulet s and the Montague s as the play suggests but the fighting seemed quite unbelievable to a modern day viewer as did some of the stalls used in the small market surroundings.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scenery in each play also differs greatly; the 1967 version is set in a medieval village with castles and a small market. Again its age shows as the buildings and backdrops look quite fake against the modern scenery in the 1997 film. Good lighting is used in the older film but again the newer one has realistic effects and buildings and overall has better quality scenery. In both films, certain lines are missed out or changed slightly; I think the language used is basically the same but in the market it was hard at times to hear what exactly was being said over all the noise of the villagers. Although Luhrmann did a good job of bringing modern props into the film, the language used in play sounded odd coming from modern people, dressed in modern clothes at a petrol station. So I think the older film did a better job with the language despite the hearing difficulty in some parts. The Acting quality was good in both films, but I found the style in the early 1967 version was boring and the fight scenes were slightly unbelievable. The 1997 version was more exciting and kept u interested but there wasn t really much between the two films in the quality of acting. Finally I looked at the different camera techniques used, it was interesting to see that both plays had shots of the legs or shoes of one of the families, Zeffirelli shot ... Literary Analysis over One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest Essay LITERARY ANALYSIS One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is a novel written by Ken Kesey during a time in our society when pressures of our modern world seemed at their greatest. Many people were, at this time, deemed by society s standards to be insane and institutionalized. One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest is set in a ward of a mental institution. The major conflict in the novel is that of power. Power is a recurring and overwhelming theme throughout the novel. Power enables McMurphy to make changes on the ward and to survive in the institution. His sanity compared to the other patients, his manipulations, and his ability to laugh give him the power. He, in turn, gives patients a sense of power by teaching them to laugh at themselves, Nurse Ratched, and the world (Magill 1533). Poems which were written centuries apart can echo similar ideas about life and humanity. Love is one such theme which presents itself repeatedly as seen in the poetry of William Shakespeare and that of Robert Burns. Each poem, though written more than two hundred years apart, explains what it feels like for the poet to feel love for the singular object of their affection. The poem Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer s Day by Shakespeare and Burns A Red, Red Rose share common images and themes with the intention of instilling in the reader the impression of their love and in explaining the depth of their emotion for the beloved as well as the respective poets ideas about the very nature of love and how it can be both passionately fulfilling and devastating.
