How Do Organic Chemists Use Melting Point To Identify...
Organic chemists use melting points to identify compounds and determine its purity. Two
temperatures that need to be noted are the point at which the first drop of liquid appears from the
substance and the point at which the entire mass of the solid substance turns to liquid. The range
between these two points is the melting point. The melting point is used to determine the purity of a
substance because if the substance is pure then its melting point will be higher. Also, if the
substance is pure then its melting point will be narrower. The melting point will be lower if the
substance is impure. Melting point can be used to identify an unknown compound by mixing it
with a known substance with a known melting point. If it is the correct material

Pre-Litigation Research Paper
Pre Litigation: What Happens Before Filing a Lawsuit?
Going to court is usually the last step in a long process of trying to settle a dispute. There are
usually several steps taken before a lawsuit is even filed with the courts. These steps help both
parties prepare for the lawsuit. It also opens up opportunities to settle the dispute without the need to
go to court.
Notice
When one party has a complaint or dispute with another party, the first step in the process is formal
notification. This often comes in the form of a notice letter sent by the injured party s attorney to
the other party, his attorney, and his insurance company. This notice outlines what the dispute is
about. It may also request information on insurance coverage, policy ... Show more content on

The demand can take several forms. It may be a claim that goes to the other party s insurance
company. It may be a letter going straight to the other party demanding compensation for the injury.
The demand may be a simple letter or it may be a multi page document with copies of the
information gathered during the investigation.
Trying to Settle
The formal demand usually brings an opportunity to settle the case before filing suit. In many cases,
these settlement negotiations are informal, involving discussions between the attorneys, insurance
representatives, and clients. It may be a time when one party makes a settlement offer.
Counteroffers and settlement rejections can also happen.
More formal dispute resolution solutions are also available, including mediation. With mediation, a
neutral third party works with the injured party and the defendant to reach a negotiated settlement.
If a case cannot be settled, the next step is to file a formal lawsuit.

Compare And Contrast The Goblin Of Eromas And The Crucible
The best way to avoid becoming a scapegoat is to find one. Warren Eyster writer of The Goblin
of Eros. Everyone has at least told one lie about someone to escape consequence. It could be
done by politicians, your friends, siblings, and you. You pass such lies and rumors, in result the
innocent will never be seen as innocent. They will always have this heinous act under their
name. The Crucible is a story filled with plot twist, revenge, love and passion. Salem, a town in
Massachusetts, is filled with juicy secrets untold, until some girls accused people of doing
Witchcraft and working with the devil. In the end many people are executed because the court
does not believe them. History repeats itself once again. In a similar case three men, called the
West Memphis 3, were accused of killing three 8 year old boys. Steven Branch, Michael Moore and
Christopher Byers will all striped down of thier clothes and were killed. Damien Echols, Jesse
Misskelley, and Jason Baldwinwere all charged with murder 30 days after case was brought up.
They confessed and pleaded innocent but there was so much evidence against them. Both cases
have taught our society many things. The Crucible and the West Memphis 3 both have people
bringing up false rumors about each other, testimonies were faked, the accused never got the
proper justice. People are interrogated for hours and hours, and finally confess what needs to be
heard. The rumors spread and has been created as evidence against the

Sales and Shell Canada
Introduction
This report is based on the case study eStore at Shell Canada Limited (Saunders, 2006).
This case looks at how a traditional business can enter the eBusiness market. This report will look at
the challenges that faced Shell Canada, measurements they could have employed to measure the
progress of eStore deployment and suggestions for dealing with the future challenges facing Shell
Canada.
Report Overview
Due to financial pressure to reduce costs, Shell Canada deployed an eCommerce solution (eStore)
to its agricultural customers.
Shell Canada, with the support of the parent international company, developed and trialed an
eCommerce solution. They employed the services of experts in the field of eBusiness and IT to

Shell could have measured performance against:
Reduction in sales and IT staff time spent per client.
Quantity of service requests for invoice retrieval and order placements.
Assign different weighting to each request depending on how much time a sales agent will spend in
field to fulfil these requests.
Schader et al., (2004) also suggest ways of measuring how a website meets a customers needs:
The number of clicks required from website entry to making a purchase
Ease of navigation
Degree and frequency with which website content is changed
The use of personal data to customise website content
It was not until serious problems with customer usage of the web site were noted that Shell Limited
called in specialists, RareMethod, to conduct a user experience review of eStore.
Ultimately eBusiness, is still business (Brache and Webb, 2000), and the question is Is it
profitable? Currently eStore does not deliver the hoped for cost savings to the company through its
deployment of new self serve technology to Shell Canada s agricultural customers.

Economic Development Strategy For The City Of Sydney
Basic Summary
Sydney is Australia s worldwide city, and the main learning based economy in the country. More
than $100 billion for each annum is produced in Sydney. That is more than half of what the whole
mining part creates, and double the span of the horticultural division at the farm gate.
In the course of the most recent five years our city economy has demonstrated its flexibility by
withstanding the worldwide financial recession. About 2000 organisations were added to the city
since 2007. Major urban restoration ventures over the City of Sydney are giving occupations and
lodging. Green Square, Australia s biggest urban redevelopment task, is only 3.5kms from the
downtown area. The $8 billion redevelopment will give homes to 11,000 new inhabitants and
22,000 new labourers.
Economic Development Strategy for the City
The City of Sydney s 10 year Economic Development Strategy will help convey a realistic vision
for a significantly more dynamic, earth feasible economy, and a liveable city that works for
inhabitants, labourers, guests and understudies. Activity arrangements will bolster our current
monetary qualities, for example, the fund, tourism and retail areas; and develop new, rising parts,
for example, the evening time economy and green economy divisions. We are as of now putting
$1.9 billion in a 10 year framework project including Light Rail and the change of George Street;
diminishing administrative obstructions to energise business; and reactivating places,

The Structure Is Based Upon Generally Accepted Accounting...
The structure is based upon generally accepted accounting principles (i.e. GAAP). It is focused on
utilizing a double entry system to understand what is happening and serve as a way of rechecking
the information. The sources of it include: the total debt, liabilities, revenues and credits. This
helps actuaries to determine where possible errors occurred and how to correct them. The business
accounts are showing the relationship the nonprofit has with suppliers and financial institutions. To
effectively control the budget, these organziations will use the double entry accounting system.
This helps them to monitor the inventory and recheck for any kind of issues inside the specific
practices at a certain hotel. There are not large variances from the budgeted to actual figures. This
is because the firm uses the GAAP method to book revenues when they were actually received.
These procedures reduce the possibility of misstating estimates and it ensures that the financial
information is as accurate as possible. However, recent changes in accounting standards for all
organizations is leading to more firms embracing IFRS standards. In the next five years, there is a
very realistic possibility of a total convergence in accounting standards and the implementation of
them. This is because nonprofits are becoming more globalized and have a number of investors
from around the world. At the same time, the lingering effects of the financial crisis are showing
how there needs to be

Investigating Potential Treatments For Minor Recurrent...
Aim and Introduction Recurrent aphthous ulceration (RAU) is the most common oral mucosal
disorder, affecting 20% of the general population (see figure 1)(Akintoye and Greenberg 1997).
RAU is classified into 3 subtypes with minor RAU being the most prevalent form (Barrons 2001).
Due to its unknown etiology, there is no effective method in terminating its outbreaks, though the
symptoms can currently be relieved through topical treatments (Femiano et al 2007). RAU is an
issue of concern for dentists, as it negatively impacts patients quality of life, by impeding eating,
swallowing, and speaking (Baharvad 2014). Therefore, there is strong interest for researchers to
find new agents to potentially treat RAU. This paper aims to critically... Show more content on

Small sample sizes were used in all of the studies, making the results questionable, if applied to
the general population. Also, there were no power calculations made, except in (Lui et al 2012).
Although the selection criterion removed potential confounding factors, they narrowed down the
applicability of the findings. This included exclusion of proposed etiological factors for RAU,
such as Behcet s, Chrohn s and ulcerative colitis. All 5 studies analysed changes in ulcer size and
pain between each treatment and control group. However, pain is subjective between individuals
and hard to localise to one ulcer, thus making it a difficult variable to compare. Dexamethasone
Dexamethasone is a topical steroid. Its anti inflammatory and immunosuppressive qualities led to
a systematic review that revealed a decrease in ulcer duration, in comparison to the placebo
(Quijano and Rodriquez, 2008). (Lui et al 2012) were the first to look into systemic safety
concerns in the use of topical dexamethasone treatment in MiRAU by measuring serum
concentration of dexamethasone. This means that there was a lack of previous evidence to support
their findings. Only 89/240 subjects from 2/5 centers were chosen for the safety analysis, along
with no power calculation to determine the subsample size (Lui et al 2012). This further questions
the reliability of their results. Smokers were removed from

List all of the noun phrases in the passage, including the pronouns. After you have studied the list
write an essay on how the noun phrases contribute to the text. How do they relate to what is
being described in the extract? In Lindsey Davis s Ode to a Banker, there are many uses of the
noun phrase. The noun phrase is a phrase that contains a noun as well as other constituents (Yule
2010, p291). The noun can stand on its own as the noun phrase or include the use of articles and
modifiers to enhance its effect on the reader. The following essay will look at how, through the use
of noun phrases, Davis creates a sense of instability and allows her audience to experience it on a
personal level through her characterisation of the narrator.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Once again we are invited to personally experience the narrator s feelings of uncertainty and
confusion. Davis is very discriminative in her use of modifiers for her noun phrases. Modifiers
in noun phrases help to enhance the noun phrase and allow for various interpretations (Short
1996, p44). This is done through the use of either pre modification that mainly consist of
adjectives and post modification that consist of either prepositional phrases, non finite clauses
or finite clauses (Crystal, pp136 138). She varies in her use of pre and post modifiers. Her post
modifiers are lengthier than her pre modifiers as they give the audience more information about
the head noun, from the phrase. One example of Davis s use of the lengthy post modifier is at
the beginning of the extract in the open doorway before the lamp failed . The narrator, here, is
referring to her outline that the intruders could see. The audience is called to remember a case of
where they have experienced seeing shadows in the dark, from glimmers of light. We are made
to envision a room that is dark, but only just has been enveloped in this darkness as we are told
that the intruders could see her before the lamp failed . This phrase, especially as it is at the
beginning of the extract, creates a feeling of unease and dread within the audience as well as
foreshadowing what is

Schenectady County is located along the Mohawk River valley and is prone to landslides. This
area is prone to landslide due to steep slopes, an addition of water, adding weight to the top of
the slope or cutting support at the bottom, causing movement. The Plotterkill Preserve is a
tributary of the Mohawk River that has steep slopes made of glacial till making it susceptible to

The Lottery Short Story Analysis
Shirley Jackson s short story The Lottery is about an unusual traditionalistic small town that
ironically gives the lottery a bad meaning. In the beginning of the story Jackson makes sure to
describe the setting of the story. Jackson starts the story off by saying The morning of June 27th
was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day (1). This quote is very
misleading because Jackson gives her audience a false sense of a welcoming environment. The town
seems to be stuck in this traditionalistic way of doing things. When you think of the lotteryone
automatically thinks of money, but this story focuses more on the tragedy of the town. The
story sets place in the town square with the towns people all gathered to carry out the lottery.
The year is not stated but based on the description of the town s people one can assume that it is
post war time. We learn that the lottery is not a one town event, but it is conducted across
several towns. We expect it to be familiar to everyone since it seems to be a fun time for all the
town members. The story talks about how children in the town are collecting stones before the
lottery begins. Mr. Summers the conductor of the lottery is responsible for getting everything
ready for the lottery. The lottery takes about 2 hours but some towns take sometimes even days.
Once all the slips of paper are mixed in the box all the people from the list come up and draw a slip.

Media Is A Pharmaceutical Liquid
Contrast media is a pharmaceutical liquid that can accentuate specific injuries. Contrast media can
help specific organs, blood vessels, and tissue types be accurately visualized. Contrast is used in x
ray, fluoroscopy, MRI, and computed tomography scans. Contrast media is a solution that can be
administered into a person one of three ways: intravenously, orally, or rectally. The patient might
have to drink the contrast solution before the exam begins. Although there are many flavors, it can
taste chalky. The contrast agent can also be injected into a joint space. It is most commonly used in
orthopedics. Barium and iodineare the two agents that are most commonly used. Gadolinium is also
used in MRI. It has a relatively harmless interaction with the body. Most contrast reactions are not
serious and can be taken care of without emergency care. Radiologist technologist try taking
precaution for these situations. The effects from administering contrast media can vary from
immediate, delayed, and long term physical reactions, however, there are several actions that can be
taken to mitigate these issues. The most common side effects people experience include a warming
sensation and a metallic taste in their mouths. These are normal side effects and will go away on
their own in time. No treatment would be needed. Slow intravenous injections will decrease the
metallic taste. A difference between two minutes rather than a ten second injection makes the

The Effect Of Rocket Angle On Projectile Range Of A Tennis...

Extended Experimental Investigation (EEI)
The Physics of Projectile Motion
Submitted by: Anna Sunio
Submitted to: Mr Mark Lee
Final due date: 6th June 2014
The Effect of Launch Angle on Projectile Range of a Tennis Ball
Aim:
The aim of this experiment is to determine the effect of the launching angle on the distance of the
projectile, to identify, apply and use the laws of projectile motion to predict the distance at which a
projectile will travel when projected at a known angle and velocity and to investigate the effect
varying angles of trajectory have on displacement.
Hypothesis:
If the launching angle is wider than 0В° but less than 45В° then the farther the projectile range
will be because the higher the shot is, the longer it takes to hit the ground. The projectile s
trajectory that is propelled at an angle wider than 0В° goes up first then has to come down rather
than being shot at an angle less than 0В° which will cause the projectile s trajectory to go straight
and fall instantly.
Abstract:
A projectile was fired from atop an elevation and an angle. The initial velocity for each firing was
the same. The distance travelled in the horizontal direction was measured for multiple firings of
each trial, and the values were averaged. When the initial velocity for each of these averages was
calculated, it was proved that the initial velocity was relatively constant. These measurements had
many possible sources of error including air resistance

Cults-A Bloodstained History
To forget all pleasures and possessions. To replace family and friends with someone else s
obsessions. Fulfilling this tall order is a prerequisite to ascending through the ranks of the wicked

What Does It Mean To Be Free
We can all recall that time between graduating high school and beginning our freshman year of

I am free. I am free to make my own decisions. I am free to spend the money that I have earned on
whatever I felt like, even though most of it goes towards paying for rent and food. College tends

however, the anxiety and stress caused by attempting to balance homework, practicing, a social

Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel And Dimed
Nickel and Dimed, by Barbara Ehrenreich, is a book that can be appropriately described as a
piece of investigative journalism. While eating an expensive lunch with the editor of Harper s,
Lewis Lapham, Ehrenreich s sociological interest is piqued. She is perplexed at how low wage
workers manage to pay their expenses with seemingly almost no financial resources. Because of
the recent welfare reform at the time (2001), one of her main interests was how women that
were used to receiving welfare would survive on $6 $7 an hour. Therefore, she decides to partake in
an experiment. She creates a drastically lowered version of her identity, claiming she is a divorced

Reasons why the working poor have weak class consciousness are: being constantly physically
drained from continually working (therefore, having less awareness of opportunities around
them), considering difficulties with higher management only from their perspective and not
from a class perspective, being focused on providing for people that depend on them, and simply
generally not being willing to take action and unionize out of the strong possibility of getting
fired in the event of a worst case scenario. An example of false consciousness includes Holly at
Merry Maids believing in Ted and following his orders and philosophy of working regardless of
physical pain, even when it s to her detriment and his benefit. Someone with high class
consciousness would understand that employers cannot legally make their employees work if they
have a severe enough injury that needs attention. The other example of false consciousness is the
maid Colleen, who when asked by Ehrenreich why she works at Merry Maids, says that it is
motivation to work harder and get the things that she sees in the rich people s homes. She has false
consciousness because she doesn t realize that with her current class, she can never achieve that high

Human Desire Through Questionable Acts
In Metamorphoses, Ovid explores human desire through questionable acts performed by
multiple characters in his first and eighth book. These driven characters evoke a response from
the all powerful gods based on his or her actions. The gods respond to either just or unjust acts in
three different ways. They either transform the character into a bird or a tree, or they will allow a
character to die. The new form of the characters depicts the four theological locations (heaven,
purgatory, earth, and hell). Through these transformations, Ovid explores the fate of humans based
on the morality of each character in relation to the gods will. As the most sacred location, heaven
provides a place of grandeur and peace for the gods away from the corruption of Earth. In the
beginning, the elements oppose one another and create chaos within the shapeless universe. As a
solution, Ovid stated, Some god(or kinder nature) settled this / dispute by separating earth from
heaven (1:26 27). Therefore, heaven and earth automatically become two opposite locations. These
two locations should not mix or interact with each other because disorder would bring ruin to each

Language and Syntax in Coriolanus
Take Home Essay Language and Syntax in Coriolanus
As William Shakespeare continued to write and create plays, he became more experiential with his
language and rhetoric within them. Coriolanus, one of Shakespeare s final tragedies, exhibits a
distinct syntax when compared with Titus Andronicus and Othello. Titus Andronicuswas one of the
first of Shakespeare s plays and his first tragedy. The play is characterized by classic verses, mainly
in the iambic pentameter form. Shakespeare did not have the experience and artistic freedom he
had when writing Coriolanus; he was emerging in London s theatre scene and played it safe by
using a more traditional syntax structure. The language Shakespeare used in Othello was much
more ornate and extravagant; like Titus Andronicus it is marked by many uninterrupted speeches
and soliloquies. Coriolanus is much more modern like in the syntax than William Shakespeare s
preceding tragedy plays.
The choppiness of the speeches in Coriolanus is very unlike the formal, end stopped, verbose
soliloquies and speeches in both Othello and Titus Andronicus. Both characteristics accomplish
different effects in the plays the great, long speeches in the two tragedies prior to Coriolanus allow
the audience or reader to hear the internal thoughts of the characters. In Act II, Scene IV of Titus
Andronicus, the audience has an opportunity to collect Lavinia s emotion, after her rapists cut her
tongue, by Marcus, her uncle s, long soliloquy after he

Indian Methods of managing Stress
Indian philosophy consisting of Upanishadas, Vedanta, etc, is very helpful in winning stress. Dr.
Satish Chandra Pandey (8m Journal, JIMS April June 1997) has given some valid points on
managing stress, some of which are as follows
1. Develop training programs for executives and other staff members for their total personality
development based on Indian values, so that they can develop their own strategies for coping with
their organizational environment/stressors.
2. Each organization must develop its own management philosophy based on Indian values and
educate its employees about that philosophy to motivate them for achieving excellence in different
areas.
3. Organizations must know that reducing organizational stress is as important as motivating
employees. Both the process is complementary to each other: they are not replacements.

Pros And Cons Of Native American Mascots
Is it okay to have Native American images as mascots? Some of the mascots names are Red Skins,
Braves and Cleveland Indians. They chose these mascots because they thought that they would be
intimidating to the other team. Imagine having a pink bunny for a mascot; other teams are not
going to think that that is intimidating. Using Native American images and names in
professional, collegiate and high school sports does not reinforce and perpetuate stereotypes
because it is not harmful and it only it representing school pride. Mascots are not harmful to
Native Americans. The AP reports, At Florida State, Wetherell said the NCAA was trying to
embarrass the school for using its nickname, even though the Seminole Tribe of Florida has given
the university permission to continue using it, (AP 2005). None of the Mascots display
discriminatory or abusive behavior towards other members of another race. The Native Americans

John Smith And William Bradford
There are times where you want to have a fresh start in a new place for many different reasons.
John Smith and William Bradford were originally from England and came to settle in America
and were very successful in their own ways but also had challenges. They both came to the new
world for opportunities. William Bradford and his people were trying to look for religious
freedom away from England and, they believed in God and predestination. Smith came to
Jamestown in Virginia and was looking for land and many riches to make more money and to take
back to his home land and, at the time tobacco was a big thing.
John Smith wasn t the guy that we all thought he was. John was boastful, a bad captain and he

The Economic Crisis of 1857
The economic crisis of 1857 was a financial fear in the United States, and the worst economic
downfall in 20 years. The continuous failure of businesses and banks created a panic in the
overall economic recession. As many as 5,000 businesses failed and unemployment was on a rise.
Americans panicked because there was a loss of confidence in an Ohio financial institution.
Additionally, the railroads begin to fail and there was a fear that the U.S. Government would not
be able to pay its obligations. The 1857 economic crisis plummeted because of the failure of a
banking institution, Ohio Life Insurance and Trust Company, which was based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
This large company had a major financial collapse due to the company s New York Cityoffices
ceasing operations because of bad investments. Because of this financial fall, a chain of other
setbacks took place, such as British investors decided to remove funds from U.S. banks, grain
prices fell, and rail routes disseminated which ruined thousands of investors (Huston, 1987).
Railroad builders obtained a $5 million loan from the Ohio financial institution and had been
defrauded out of millions more by the manager of its New York branch. Ohio Life Insurance was
forced into bankruptcy because they were unable to pay its outstanding debt to Eastern bankers.
New York bankers panicked for fear that they would not be able to meet their financial obligations,
which created a more harsh credit policy. They demanded

Joe and Alex looked at each other a couple of times, they decided it was time to try and mosh
themselves. So they try it and they have succeeded at moshing around the circle: because that s the
way they wanted to dance.
In conclusion, Alex and Joe overcame their fears of being in the pit. They are now both very
comfortable to dance with other crazy punks to their favorite bands in the whole wide world. If
they keep following up with Luke and Ed on their moshing skills, they could end up being
professional moshers like they are! But overall, you don t have be the best at dancing in the pit, it s

The Badlands And Lakota Land
When the Sioux migrated to the Great Plains area, they most certainly came across the the
Badlands in their discovery. The name Badlands is derived from the Lakota phrase
makИџГіЕЎiДЌa, meaning Land of Bad Spirits. Today, some Lakota believe that the Badlands
are a place to be avoided because it is where bad spirits exist. This paper will discuss the
geographic location, geological formation, Lakota legends, reasons the site is visited, time or
seasons to visit and Lakota stargazing associated with the site. When applicable, Lakota words will
be provided.
Geographic Location and Geology
The Badlands are geographically located in Southwest South Dakota, the Southern Unit being
within the Pine Ridge Reservation. The Oglala Lakota Nation co manages the Southern Unit of
Badlands National Park.
The Badlands were deposited in layers over millions of years. The layers are constructed of
sediments such as sand, silt, and clay that have been cemented together into sedimentary rocks.
Different environments caused different sediments to accumulate there at different times. The
oldest formations are at the bottom and the youngest are at the top.
The black Pierre Shale is the bottom layer of the Badlands and was deposited between 69 and 75
million years ago when a shallow sea stretched across what is now the Great Plains. Sediment
filtered through the seawater, forming a black mud on the sea floor that has since hardened into
shale. Fossil clams, ammonites, and sea reptiles are

Legality Ethicality of Financial Accounting
Legality and Ethicality of Financial Reporting Accounting professionals consider standard
practices of accounting and board of accountancy rules when creating ethical standards.
Accountants also consider state and federal laws. Ethics and the law works hand in hand
therefore should be on the minds of those considering the commission of fraud. The Chief
Financial Officer (CFO) of Excello, Terry Reed, was considering doing such by posting a $2.1
million transaction to raise year end earnings. Terry Reed, CFO of Excello, committed the unethical
practices in this case. Reed had considered the $2.1 million transaction to collect the earnings from

One of three things can happen in the Excello case. First, Reed may transfer the merchandise to
an off site location and record the sale at the end of 2010 because there is no violation of Excello
s shipping rules and GAAP standards (Mintz, 2011). Second, Reed can transfer the merchandise
to the customer and promise a refund to the customer s account after 2010 report filing (Mintz,
2011). Like the first, this option is also unethical. Besides manipulating the financial reports, these
choices post a risk for Excello that the sale may never fruition. Both options allow the customer to
return the goods after Excello posts the revenue, thus violating the GAAP s revenue recognition
principle. Third, Excello could offer the customer a 10% discount to purchase the merchandise
before December 31, 2010. This option being the most ethical decision because no fraudulent
activity occurs. The employees who are acting unethically in this case are Terry Reed, CFO, and
Marty Fuller, controller of Excello. Fuller is covering the bases by calling meetings with the
accounting staff and requesting that the merchandise sell and post according to the GAAP
standards. Fuller is being unethical by trying to get around the GAAP and AICPA codes. Reed is
unethical because he requests the accounting department to find ways around the rules to increase
the 2010 earnings by posting a sales transaction before the revenue was

The Pros And Cons Of The Red Scare
In the mid 1940 s America faced a kind of fear that many viewed at the time to be easily justified.
The Red Scare effected many people and ruined many lives during this time. During the red
scare people were black listed in Hollywood and were prevented from finding work. This is because
the Red Scare was a point in time where there was widespread fear and government paranoia by a
society or state, about a potential rise of communism, anarchism, or radical leftism. The black list
came around from the idea that communists were trying to use Hollywood to influence the minds
of the people and turn American citizens in to spies for the Russians. This was no easy time for
many Americans, people not only abused whomever they didn t trust by creating claims that that
they were communist with or without evidence. The first Hollywood blacklistwas created on
November 25, 1947. This was the day after ten writers and directors were cited for contempt of
Congress for refusing to testify to the House Un American Activities Committee. The writer
Dolton Trumbo was one of the individuals black listed and was sent to prison. The movie
incarnation of the book about events of his life some think was a well depiction of his person and
life. The book however, containing more detail and seemingly brutal honest documented events

Darcy is also shown to be prejudice towards Elizabeth s family in chapter 33 in another way.
Congratulated himself on lately having saved a friend from the inconveniences of a most imprudent

Fitzwilliam says to Elizabeth that Darcy has said this. Darcy is shown to be boasting about the
fact that he has saved his friend form a marriage. He thinks that he has saved his friend from

family.
The audience now are made to believe that Darcy is the bad guy .

pride in her character through the way that she talks about her family. She talks about her father

The Quality Of Education For Tanzanians Children
In general, what is at stake is not the description of the population numbers, but concerns about the
quality of education for Tanzanians children. Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania
as (Woods, 2009) alerts, is a clarion call for the country, not only to invest in education, but also
excessively in other public services. Comparable to other poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and
Easterly (2006) highlighted, the poor people live entangled in inadequacy, in which taking to
account the global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and poor arrangement reinforce one
another (p. 10 ). It is incontestable that children are the eyes of the future of any nation,
consequently financing beyond their education quality would be the ultimate investment for their
development. This is to say, parents, teachers, and communities need to ensure the safety of
children and monitor what they learn in classrooms, while paying a distinctive attention to the
marginalized children likely to be victims of quality education and exclusion.

Executive Summary This research report documents the findings of an empirical study of judicial

Second, provisions such as section 588G may be deterring qualified people from becoming
company directors and the provisions may be having this effect precisely in relation to those

necessary to protect the interests of creditors. As stated, insolvent trading provisions have
generally ensured a conservative approach by directors when the company is experiencing
financial difficulties. The potential alternative effects of such a decision are: 1. to preclude the
company from trading out of its temporary insolvency, thus resulting in creditors not being fully

and manufacturing base in the history of mankind. However, that was before politicians decided to

Further, national politicians signed unwise trade agreements with countries that placed the United
States in a subservient position on trade. Mega international corporation lobbyists became the
driving force for trade policy, and national security steadily suffered. Fair trade became a victim
of an ill conceived national policy and withered in the heat of backroom deals between money

people sin. Do people sin by choice or are people completely helpless when it comes to resisting

we choose to give into sinful desires, it is through divine grace that we seek out the love of Jesus.
It is not the sin itself but the intention in the heart of the person committing an act that could be

killing that is a sin but the intent behind the killing. If the killing was an accident or self defense it
is different from maliciously committing murder, or intending to kill another person.
St. Francis of Assisi would say that sin is objective: the act of sin without knowingly or
deliberately committing the sin. Intention has no part in whether or not an act is considered. Sin is
sin regardless of intent. With the legacy of St. Francis ministry, the order called The friars , it
seems that St. Francis was more concerned with good works as a means of salvation. However,
works would mean nothing if there was not good intent behind them.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer believes we are not judged by our works, but are saved by grace. A person
must first be called to a life of Christ. This call is His grace. Reject the call

Essay On Personal Statement At Fordham University
I am a non terminating senior at Fordham University pursuing both a physics, and a joint
mathematics and computer science degree. I ve chosen to apply to contribute to Cornell s CNF and
PARADIM REU program because of my interest in the intersection of experimental condensed
matter physics and nanotechnology. Since May of 2016, I have been doing an independent study
on quantum computation with the assistance of two advisors. Among learning about the many
facets of quantum computation, my obligations also include developing computer programs using
both python and C++ to simulate quantum computational phenomena, seeking contemporary
advancements in this field, and presenting short talks on quantum computational phenomena. In
particular, I had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For these reasons, the CNF and PARADIM REU program would be greatly advantageous for my
future. Earlier in my collegiate career, I was burdened with a selection of personal complications
that derailed my academic performance. However, persevering through these hindrances taught
me an indispensable lesson on how to encounter adversity and overcome hardships while juggling
everyday duties. My success in my more recent coursework should express my ability to work
efficaciously. After learning about the responsibilities of this REU program, I ve found that these
responsibilities and my set of skills in computer programming, mathematical reasoning, and
physical knowledge are quite compatible. Although I am familiar with other programming
languages, more relevantly, I am proficient in C++ up to a data structures and algorithms level,
and I have taken a course on scientific computation in python. I also interned as a software
engineer for Skanatek AB this past summer. Alongside my knowledge of quantum physics from
my coursework and my independent study, I will also be taking a solid state physics course in the
upcoming spring semester. Also in the spring semester, I will be taking a course in experimental
techniques in physics and engineering, which will prepare me for experimental and laboratory
work. This experimental physics course has a large component focused on written and oral
communication skills

Gagon V. American Provision Summary
Gagan v. American Cablevision, Inc., 77 F.3d 951, 959 (7th Cir. 1996).
Tello s appeal fails to recognize this distinction. His argument, focused [**20] as it is on the
difference between the predicate acts referenced in the indictment and those identified in his plea
agreement, presumes that proof of at least two specific predicate
[*793] acts of racketeering that he committed (or agreed to commit) was a prerequisite to his
conviction for racketeering conspiracy under section 1962(d). This is the very presumption that the
Supreme Court in Salinas described as wrong. 522

Forecasting Sales and Developing Budgets
Forecasting Sales and Developing Budgets
Introduction
This paper will synthesize the findings from the Cassar and Gibson (2008) study. Analogies and
experiences will also be used to discuss and analyze the study findings. In addition, the relevance of
these findings to the relationship between forecasting methods and budget development will also be
discussed. Finally, this paper will also make recommendations on how organizations may address
the strategic relationship between planning and performance.
A synthesis of the findings from the Cassar and Gibson (2008) study

In other words, the more complex the product is, the more variables there are to consider in
developing a sales forecast, especially for an organization with a new innovation that has no
product history to use to create forecasts. This is especially true of new products in the
pharmaceutical industry. It is also likely that the additional variables that will be discussed here
were also factors that could have been modified to be included as part of the Australian firms
described above to further analyze the results of each of these organizations in the study in order to
improve forecasting.
Some of the variables that must be considered regarding the pharmaceutical industry might
include consumer awareness of the disease state and the amount of advertising as well as the
number of vendors selling similar items (Cook, 2006). Cost is also a factor, as is the propensity
for a given physician to correctly diagnose the disease state that the product covers. Additional
factors that affect whether a given patient will actually fill the prescription and use the
medication might include the side effect profile as well as the dosing schedule. If the
pharmaceutical is for a child, the taste of the product would also be a factor to consider, as a
competitor may have a better tasting drug that the consumer is more likely to buy in order to
increase compliance despite the better efficacy of the organization s innovation. A weighting
process can also be used to

The Big Time College Sports
In this era of big time college sports, it seems the main focus of Division I athletics evolves
around the money that schools and conferences make through different deals. These deals
typically involve television rights for individual conferences with major television networks.
Currently the NCAA has a 14 year, $11 billion TV deal with CBS and Turner Broadcasting for
the NCAA basketball Tournament, and this upcoming year ESPN will pay around $470 million to
broadcast the new college football playoffs. The majority of this money is streamed to a teams
athletic departments via their respective conference. The largest percentage of this money goes to
teams that perform well on the field and on the court. Therefore the size of a school s... Show more

Followed closely behind is the ACC at $240 million, the Big 12 at $220 million, and lastly the
SEC at $205 million (the SEC Network that launched this past August should eventually launch the
conference to the top of this list) (Smith). Each conference s deal differs, so I will look at each
individually conference. The first and most profitable one is the Big Ten.
Big Ten
The Big Ten is known as the conference where the money is. Year in and year out the Big Ten
has the highest revenues. This can be credited to the prospering Big Ten Network. The Big Ten
the first major conference with their own network, most major conferences have now established
a conference affiliated network. The conference s revenues are expected to grow annually, and 12
of 14 Big Ten schools are expected to gain $44.5 million during the 2017 18 year, the first year of a
new television deal (the two schools that are not projecting these numbers are Maryland and
Rutgers which just officially joined the conference this past summer and can not receive their
full share until 2020 21). Along with their Big Ten network deal, the conference also has a 10
year TV rights deal with ESPN worth close to $1 billion that will be expiring in 2016 2017. While
negotiations have begun to renew this contract, it is likely that Fox will become a

  • 2. How Do Organic Chemists Use Melting Point To Identify... Organic chemists use melting points to identify compounds and determine its purity. Two temperatures that need to be noted are the point at which the first drop of liquid appears from the substance and the point at which the entire mass of the solid substance turns to liquid. The range between these two points is the melting point. The melting point is used to determine the purity of a substance because if the substance is pure then its melting point will be higher. Also, if the substance is pure then its melting point will be narrower. The melting point will be lower if the substance is impure. Melting point can be used to identify an unknown compound by mixing it with a known substance with a known melting point. If it is the correct material ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Pre-Litigation Research Paper Pre Litigation: What Happens Before Filing a Lawsuit? Going to court is usually the last step in a long process of trying to settle a dispute. There are usually several steps taken before a lawsuit is even filed with the courts. These steps help both parties prepare for the lawsuit. It also opens up opportunities to settle the dispute without the need to go to court. Notice When one party has a complaint or dispute with another party, the first step in the process is formal notification. Trying to Settle The formal demand usually brings an opportunity to settle the case before filing suit. In many cases, these settlement negotiations are informal, involving discussions between the attorneys, insurance representatives, and clients. It may be a time when one party makes a settlement offer. Counteroffers and settlement rejections can also happen. More formal dispute resolution solutions are also available, including mediation. With mediation, a neutral third party works with the injured party and the defendant to reach a negotiated settlement. If a case cannot be settled, the next step is to file a formal lawsuit. It is focused on utilizing a double entry system to understand what is happening and serve as a way of rechecking the information. The sources of it include: the total debt, liabilities, revenues and credits. This helps actuaries to determine where possible errors occurred and how to correct them. The business accounts are showing the relationship the nonprofit has with suppliers and financial institutions. To effectively control the budget, these organziations will use the double entry accounting system. This helps them to monitor the inventory and recheck for any kind of issues inside the specific practices at a certain hotel. There are not large variances from the budgeted to actual figures. This is because the firm uses the GAAP method to book revenues when they were actually received. These procedures reduce the possibility of misstating estimates and it ensures that the financial information is as accurate as possible. • 10. Investigating Potential Treatments For Minor Recurrent... Aim and Introduction Recurrent aphthous ulceration (RAU) is the most common oral mucosal disorder, affecting 20% of the general population (see figure 1)(Akintoye and Greenberg 1997). RAU is classified into 3 subtypes with minor RAU being the most prevalent form (Barrons 2001). Due to its unknown etiology, there is no effective method in terminating its outbreaks, though the symptoms can currently be relieved through topical treatments (Femiano et al 2007). RAU is an issue of concern for dentists, as it negatively impacts patients quality of life, by impeding eating, swallowing, and speaking (Baharvad 2014). Small sample sizes were used in all of the studies, making the results questionable, if applied to the general population. Also, there were no power calculations made, except in (Lui et al 2012). Although the selection criterion removed potential confounding factors, they narrowed down the applicability of the findings. This included exclusion of proposed etiological factors for RAU, such as Behcet s, Chrohn s and ulcerative colitis. All 5 studies analysed changes in ulcer size and pain between each treatment and control group. However, pain is subjective between individuals and hard to localise to one ulcer, thus making it a difficult variable to compare. Dexamethasone Dexamethasone is a topical steroid. Its anti inflammatory and immunosuppressive qualities led to a systematic review that revealed a decrease in ulcer duration, in comparison to the placebo (Quijano and Rodriquez, 2008). (Lui et al 2012) were the first to look into systemic safety concerns in the use of topical dexamethasone treatment in MiRAU by measuring serum concentration of dexamethasone. This means that there was a lack of previous evidence to support their findings. • 11. LAC178 Assignment 1 Essay List all of the noun phrases in the passage, including the pronouns. After you have studied the list write an essay on how the noun phrases contribute to the text. How do they relate to what is being described in the extract? In Lindsey Davis s Ode to a Banker, there are many uses of the noun phrase. The noun phrase is a phrase that contains a noun as well as other constituents (Yule 2010, p291). The noun can stand on its own as the noun phrase or include the use of articles and modifiers to enhance its effect on the reader. The following essay will look at how, through the use of noun phrases, Davis creates a sense of instability and allows her audience to experience it on a personal level through her characterisation of the narrator.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once again we are invited to personally experience the narrator s feelings of uncertainty and confusion. Davis is very discriminative in her use of modifiers for her noun phrases. Modifiers in noun phrases help to enhance the noun phrase and allow for various interpretations (Short 1996, p44). This is done through the use of either pre modification that mainly consist of adjectives and post modification that consist of either prepositional phrases, non finite clauses or finite clauses (Crystal, pp136 138). She varies in her use of pre and post modifiers. Her post modifiers are lengthier than her pre modifiers as they give the audience more information about the head noun, from the phrase. One example of Davis s use of the lengthy post modifier is at the beginning of the extract in the open doorway before the lamp failed . The narrator, here, is referring to her outline that the intruders could see. The audience is called to remember a case of where they have experienced seeing shadows in the dark, from glimmers of light. We are made to envision a room that is dark, but only just has been enveloped in this darkness as we are told that the intruders could see her before the lamp failed . Year 11 Physics Extended Experimental Investigation (EEI) The Physics of Projectile Motion Submitted by: Anna Sunio Submitted to: Mr Mark Lee Final due date: 6th June 2014 The Effect of Launch Angle on Projectile Range of a Tennis Ball Aim: The aim of this experiment is to determine the effect of the launching angle on the distance of the projectile, to identify, apply and use the laws of projectile motion to predict the distance at which a projectile will travel when projected at a known angle and velocity and to investigate the effect varying angles of trajectory have on displacement. Hypothesis: If the launching angle is wider than 0В° but less than 45В° then the farther the projectile range will be because the higher the shot is, the longer it takes to hit the ground. The projectile s trajectory that is propelled at an angle wider than 0В° goes up first then has to come down rather than being shot at an angle less than 0В° which will cause the projectile s trajectory to go straight and fall instantly. Abstract: A projectile was fired from atop an elevation and an angle. The initial velocity for each firing was the same. The distance travelled in the horizontal direction was measured for multiple firings of each trial, and the values were averaged. When the initial velocity for each of these averages was calculated, it was proved that the initial velocity was relatively constant. These measurements had many possible sources of error including air resistance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Human Desire Through Questionable Acts In Metamorphoses, Ovid explores human desire through questionable acts performed by multiple characters in his first and eighth book. These driven characters evoke a response from the all powerful gods based on his or her actions. The gods respond to either just or unjust acts in three different ways. They either transform the character into a bird or a tree, or they will allow a character to die. The new form of the characters depicts the four theological locations (heaven, purgatory, earth, and hell). Through these transformations, Ovid explores the fate of humans based on the morality of each character in relation to the gods will. As the most sacred location, heaven provides a place of grandeur and peace for the gods away from the corruption of Earth. In the beginning, the elements oppose one another and create chaos within the shapeless universe. As a solution, Ovid stated, Some god(or kinder nature) settled this / dispute by separating earth from heaven (1:26 27). Therefore, heaven and earth automatically become two opposite locations. These two locations should not mix or interact with each other because disorder would bring ruin to each location. • 22. Language and Syntax in Coriolanus Take Home Essay Language and Syntax in Coriolanus As William Shakespeare continued to write and create plays, he became more experiential with his language and rhetoric within them. Coriolanus, one of Shakespeare s final tragedies, exhibits a distinct syntax when compared with Titus Andronicus and Othello. Titus Andronicuswas one of the first of Shakespeare s plays and his first tragedy. The play is characterized by classic verses, mainly in the iambic pentameter form. Shakespeare did not have the experience and artistic freedom he had when writing Coriolanus; he was emerging in London s theatre scene and played it safe by using a more traditional syntax structure. The language Shakespeare used in Othello was much more ornate and extravagant; like Titus Andronicus it is marked by many uninterrupted speeches and soliloquies. Coriolanus is much more modern like in the syntax than William Shakespeare s preceding tragedy plays. The choppiness of the speeches in Coriolanus is very unlike the formal, end stopped, verbose soliloquies and speeches in both Othello and Titus Andronicus. Both characteristics accomplish different effects in the plays the great, long speeches in the two tragedies prior to Coriolanus allow the audience or reader to hear the internal thoughts of the characters. Second, Reed can transfer the merchandise to the customer and promise a refund to the customer s account after 2010 report filing (Mintz, 2011). Like the first, this option is also unethical. The Red Scare effected many people and ruined many lives during this time. During the red scare people were black listed in Hollywood and were prevented from finding work. This is because the Red Scare was a point in time where there was widespread fear and government paranoia by a society or state, about a potential rise of communism, anarchism, or radical leftism. The black list came around from the idea that communists were trying to use Hollywood to influence the minds of the people and turn American citizens in to spies for the Russians. Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania as (Woods, 2009) alerts, is a clarion call for the country, not only to invest in education, but also excessively in other public services. Comparable to other poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and Easterly (2006) highlighted, the poor people live entangled in inadequacy, in which taking to account the global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and poor arrangement reinforce one another (p. 10 ). It is incontestable that children are the eyes of the future of any nation, consequently financing beyond their education quality would be the ultimate investment for their development. As stated, insolvent trading provisions have generally ensured a conservative approach by directors when the company is experiencing financial difficulties. The potential alternative effects of such a decision are: 1. to preclude the company from trading out of its temporary insolvency, thus resulting in creditors not being fully paid in respect of their debt; and 2. to avoid the company dwindling away assets and further reducing any return to creditors. 4 What to do if you suspect financial difficulty If you suspect your company is in financial difficulty, get proper accounting and legal advice as early as possible, as this increases the likelihood of the company surviving. пїјпїј An insolvency practitioner can conduct a solvency review of your company and outline available options, these may include refinancing, restructuring or changing your company s activities, or appointing an external administrator. Once that was mostly established, many, like Pierre Abelard went on to think about how or why people sin. Do people sin by choice or are people completely helpless when it comes to resisting temptation. Abelard thought believed that sin is subjective. Sin is inside us all and, and although we choose to give into sinful desires, it is through divine grace that we seek out the love of Jesus. It is not the sin itself but the intention in the heart of the person committing an act that could be considered sin under certain circumstances. If a person kills another person, it is not the act of killing that is a sin but the intent behind the killing. If the killing was an accident or self defense it is different from maliciously committing murder, or intending to kill another person. St. Francis of Assisi would say that sin is objective: the act of sin without knowingly or deliberately committing the sin. Intention has no part in whether or not an act is considered. Sin is sin regardless of intent. With the legacy of St. Francis ministry, the order called The friars , it seems that St. Francis was more concerned with good works as a means of salvation. However, works would mean nothing if there was not good intent behind them. Dietrich Bonhoeffer believes we are not judged by our works, but are saved by grace. • 45. Forecasting Sales and Developing Budgets Forecasting Sales and Developing Budgets Introduction This paper will synthesize the findings from the Cassar and Gibson (2008) study. Analogies and experiences will also be used to discuss and analyze the study findings. In addition, the relevance of these findings to the relationship between forecasting methods and budget development will also be discussed. Finally, this paper will also make recommendations on how organizations may address the strategic relationship between planning and performance. A synthesis of the findings from the Cassar and Gibson (2008) study There are many variables that are used in making forecasts, and these variables include patterns of past sales, sales in the current period, the economic ... In other words, the more complex the product is, the more variables there are to consider in developing a sales forecast, especially for an organization with a new innovation that has no product history to use to create forecasts. This is especially true of new products in the pharmaceutical industry. It is also likely that the additional variables that will be discussed here were also factors that could have been modified to be included as part of the Australian firms described above to further analyze the results of each of these organizations in the study in order to improve forecasting. Some of the variables that must be considered regarding the pharmaceutical industry might include consumer awareness of the disease state and the amount of advertising as well as the number of vendors selling similar items (Cook, 2006). Cost is also a factor, as is the propensity for a given physician to correctly diagnose the disease state that the product covers. Additional factors that affect whether a given patient will actually fill the prescription and use the medication might include the side effect profile as well as the dosing schedule. If the pharmaceutical is for a child, the taste of the product would also be a factor to consider, as a competitor may have a better tasting drug that the consumer is more likely to buy in order to increase compliance despite the better efficacy of the organization s innovation. A weighting process can also be used to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Big Time College Sports In this era of big time college sports, it seems the main focus of Division I athletics evolves around the money that schools and conferences make through different deals. These deals typically involve television rights for individual conferences with major television networks. Currently the NCAA has a 14 year, $11 billion TV deal with CBS and Turner Broadcasting for the NCAA basketball Tournament, and this upcoming year ESPN will pay around $470 million to broadcast the new college football playoffs. The majority of this money is streamed to a teams athletic departments via their respective conference. The largest percentage of this money goes to teams that perform well on the field and on the court. Therefore the size of a school s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Followed closely behind is the ACC at $240 million, the Big 12 at $220 million, and lastly the SEC at $205 million (the SEC Network that launched this past August should eventually launch the conference to the top of this list) (Smith). Each conference s deal differs, so I will look at each individually conference. The first and most profitable one is the Big Ten. Big Ten The Big Ten is known as the conference where the money is. Year in and year out the Big Ten has the highest revenues. This can be credited to the prospering Big Ten Network. The Big Ten the first major conference with their own network, most major conferences have now established a conference affiliated network. The conference s revenues are expected to grow annually, and 12 of 14 Big Ten schools are expected to gain $44.5 million during the 2017 18 year, the first year of a new television deal (the two schools that are not projecting these numbers are Maryland and Rutgers which just officially joined the conference this past summer and can not receive their full share until 2020 21). Along with their Big Ten network deal, the conference also has a 10 year TV rights deal with ESPN worth close to $1 billion that will be expiring in 2016 2017. While negotiations have begun to renew this contract, it is likely that Fox will become a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
