Methodology:
In order to achieve the above goals, several steps were carried out. First, various online dating sites
were considered and narrowed down to three possible choices: eHarmony, Match.com, and Christian
Mingle. Three ideas were brought forth regarding which site to analyse in order to determine which
sites could potentially hold more issues and which site had sufficient content to be analyzed
effectively. Next in the process, eHarmony was chosen as the site that would be the target for analysis.
eHarmony is a very popular dating site and is well known due to their numerous infomercials and
online advertisements and thus presents a great opportunity to examine the elements involved in a
formal and well designed user agreement. Following the choosing of a site, a copy of the user
agreement from eHarmony was obtained and given an initial review. This step acted as the first run
through of the agreement, which involved identifying possible legal issues in the clauses, highlighting
important points form each clause, and gaining a general understanding of the agreement. The
agreement consisted of two separate documents titled Privacy Policy and Terms of Service , each
outlining the obligations of the company and the customer respectively. In addition, an examination of
the actual purpose and requirements of the assignment was carried out. In this particular phase of the
paper, the course outline was reviewed and the outline of the paper

What Is Light Skin Complexion
In fact, light skin complexion was added to slave s population due to white slaves owners having
unconsented sexual relations with African women (Russell, Wilson, Hall, 1993). At any day or time
female slaves was subjected to sexual relations with their masters or white slaves owners. This act of
sexual relations created generations of descendants of lighter shades of skin. Light skin complexion
was referred to as Mulattos in which they were half African and half white (Hall, 1992). This goes
back to how lighter complexion was stable working in the house instead of the field due to having
certain privileges, such as: working in the house, attaining education, and access to personal
possessions. Researchers found that mixed race slaves were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Russell et al. illustrated, every American black girl experiences some degree of shame about her
appearance. Many African American women submit to painful hair combing to look more European
White Like , at least more presentable (2003). It was obvious that African American women felt the
need to manipulate their identity to fit into society. In 1957 there were organized clubs in the black
community that upheld standards related to skin complexion in which their members had to be lighter
than a brown paper bag or have visible blue veins (Frazier, 1957 as cited in Thompson Keith, 2001).
Russell et al., (1992) illustrated the blue vein membership as quoted:
In practice however, admission to be a blue vein society depended not on family background but on
skin color. An applicant had to be fair enough for the spidery network of purplish veins at the wrist to
be visible to a panel of expert judges (p. 25).
In today s society dark skin men and women conceptualize that light skin is more acceptable.
Thompson Keith (2001) researched that dark skin African American noticed light skins African
American being successful and moving up the hierarchy with jobs and advertisements (340).
Researchers found that self esteem affects men when it comes to their weight size (under or over
weight) in which being underweight decrease for light skin men and increases for overweight light
skin men (Thompson Keith, 2001, p.

Sumatran Species
Discussions and Findings
Conservation Status of Sumatran Species
Sumatran orangutans. Sumatran orangutans are classified as critically endangered by both the WWF
(2017a, para. 1) and on The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (Singleton, Wich, Nowak Usher,
2016, p.1). Previously published Red list reports indicate that the Sumatran orangutans have been
classified as critically endangered since 2000 (Singleton et al., 2016, p.2). Both the WWF (2017a,
para. 1) and Singleton et al. (2016, p. 4) suggest that the population of Sumatran orangutans is 14,613
however, Singleton et al (2016, p.4) advises that only 13,835 are viable due to a small population size
of some groups. Singleton et al. (2016, p. 4) identifies the current population ... Show more content on

Sumatran elephants are classified as critically endangered with an estimated population of 2,400 2,800
(Gopala et al., 2001, p.1; WWF, 2017c, para.1). The conservation status of Sumatran elephants was
changed in 2012 to critically endangered due the population halving in just one generation (WWF,
2017c, para.4). This population loss is attributed to poaching, unauthorised removal of elephants from
the wild, human wildlife conflict and forest conversion for palm oil, paper and pulp plantation (Gopala
et al., 2001, p.4; WWF, 2017c, para.4).
Sumatran rhinos. Both the WWF (2017d, para. 1) and The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (van
Strien et al., 2008, p. 1) categorise Sumatran rhinos as critically endangered. In 1965 the Sumatran
rhino was first classified as very rare and suspected to have a decreasing population, then in 1986 was
categorised as endangered (van Strien et al., 2008, p. 1). Following this, in 1996 the Sumatran rhino
was re classified as critically endangered due to its continuous and severe population decline (van
Strien et al., 2008, p. 1). There are three subspecies of the Sumatran rhino, one with the largest
population of approximately 170 230, one within an estimated population of 50 and one which is
likely to be extinct (van Strien et al., 2008, p.4). This is in line with the WWF (2017d, para.1) which
estimates a total population of 220 275. van Strien et al (2008, p.4) states that the current population
trend of Sumatran rhinos is

The novel Briar Rose by Jane Yolen is a heart wrenching story of Sleeping Beauty intertwined with
the horrors of the Jewish Holocaust. Yolen portrays the difference between the fairytale and the ugly
reality through this novel. The character, Gemma, tells a fairytale called Briar Rose to her three
granddaughters every time she is with them. Gemma s identity at the start of the novel is hidden, and
Becca, Gemma s granddaughter, is on a journey to unveil and discover the truth about her identity and
Briar Rose. The truth ends up being that Gemma is the Briar Rose she speaks about in her stories.

Oh they are much in appreciation and Once upon a time represent that language is a big part of the
novel through the characters. The first quote shows Magda s awkward, broken English, and the second
quote shows Gemma s fairytale. Through the language of a text, readers are able to get the different
ideas about the people s backgrounds and who they are. Irony is often used in Briar Rose, especially
with Josef. Josef represents the prince because he saves Gemma s life during the Holocaust. The
stereotypical view of princes in fairytales is that they rescue the female, and they kiss and live happily
ever after. That was never going to be the case with Gemma and Josef because Josef is a homosexual,
and he was in love with Aron, Gemma s husband. Briar Rose is an allegory for the Holocaust. The
harsh details of her survival are hidden in the magical fairytale, and it softens the impact of reality for
the reader. Jane Yolen s techniques pull through to create an interesting story, and they also help carry
out the different themes throughout the book. The themes of the novel make Briar Rose a good book.
There are many different subjects that build and make the fiction story stronger. I have no memories in

Essay about The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V
The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V
Foremost among the characters William Shakespeare develops in his series of historical plays is,
undoubtedly, the character of Henry V. Henry, also at times referred to as Harry or Hal, develops
through the course of four plays: Richard II, I Henry IV, II Henry IV, and Henry V. From the brief
mention of Henry in Richard II to the full focus upon him in Henry V, a dramatic change clearly takes
place: the playful carousing youth portrayed in the first play develops into a King and conqueror by
the conclusion of the final play. In order to truly examine his development however, one must examine
the growth and eventual fusion of two undeniable separate characters: the prince Henry, and the youth
Hal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In I Henry IV, when we finally meet Hal, the image presented in Richard II becomes conflicted. We
see Hal placed in an environment one might expect based upon the comments in Richard II the Boar s
Head Taven but he delivers a soliloquy which stands in stark contrast with the Hal we expected. While
this soliloquy in which declares his tavern dwelling to be a mere ruse to gain influence lends credence
to Hal s Machiavellian image, the context and the precise nature of the speech makes it difficult to
extend that line of reasoning and label him a Machiavel. Thus, when Hal states
By so much shall I falsify men s hopes,
And like bright metal on a sullen ground,
My reformation, glitt ring o er my fault,
Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes
Than that which hath no foil to set it off (I Henry IV I.iii.211)
That same moment can be said to be the foundation for the development of the separate identity of
Henry. Though childishly unwilling to accept his fate on one level, he is clearly preparing himself for
the responsibilities of the throne on another level. When he chooses to return the stolen goods from
the Boar s Head heist, he is allowing his noble virtues to surface. These developing and arguably
primitive virtues contest greatly with the separate character of Hotspur, an individual largely defined
by his honor. Thus, in

Symbolism In John Irving s A Prayer For Owen Meany
Symbolism is often shown in John Irving s A Prayer for Owen Meany through recurring topics such as
armlessness. From Owen amputating the armadillos claws, to Owen being obsessed with amputations
in general, this topic foreshadows Owen s death, and helps build the theme of destiny and fate. Irving
uses armlessness to symbolize helplessness and loss of something very important to a person. At the
start of the novel, after Owen s foul ball killed Tabitha, John gives Owen his armadillo to show Owen
that he still loves him. When Owen returned the armadillo, the claws were missing because Owen
amputated them. Owen explains that Dan, John, and himself all lost a part of them just like the
armadillo lost his claws. Owen had meant to say that God had taken his hands and that he believed he
was an instrument of God. GOD HAS TAKEN YOUR MOTHER. MY HANDS WERE THE
INSTRUMENT. GOD HAS TAKEN MY HANDS. I AM GOD S INSTRUMENT. (90) Owen used his
arms to throw the foul ball that killed Tabitha. He amputated the armadillo s claws to show John and
Dan that when they lost Tabitha, they both lost something important to them just as the claws of an
armadillo were important to the animal. This quote also foreshadows how Owen dies, and how God
put him on the Earth to fulfill a God given task. As the novel continues, John recalls a memory of
Owen and him having a sleepover. At that sleepover Owen felt very sick, so he went to go ask John s
mother, Tabitha for help. When Owen walked into

The Pros And Cons Of The Jay Treaty
The end of the Revolutionary War brought about new ideas, freedoms, and regulations in foreign
policy between the United States and Great Britain. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly illustration
could be used for the ideas portrayed in the articles. The Jay Treaty was an ordinance of twenty eight
articles created to dissuade any conflict between the U.S. and Great Britain. Washington s Farwell
Address conveyed his views and beliefs on foreign policy and informed the people that if they would
remain loyal to their truths and values, the nation would surely prosper. The second, third, fourth,
fifth, and eleventh Federalist Papers were documents that the Federalists wrote to promote the
ratification of the Constitution to New York citizens. The Jay Treaty, Washington s Farewell Address,
and the Federalist Papers each had their respective degrees of Good, Bad, or Ugly. In the twenty eight
articles of the Jay Treaty, conflicts in trading, territory, and impressment were all addressed and
revised. The Jay Treaty, written by John Jay and ideas from Alexander Hamilton, was a set of articles
which was created to prevent another war with Great Britain. Several articles in the treaty were on
impressment, the raiding of an enemy s ship and taking the loot and crew, and how they would prevent
this from happening between the two countries.
The second idea they sought to tackle was the problems in trading. At that time, British exports were
in abundance in U.S. markets, while

Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Dr. Henry Jekyll in Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) seems to be an enthusiastic
scientist just as Shelley describes Victor Frankenstein. Though Victor Frankenstein reports his own
story to Captain Walton, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is narrated by different points of
view, mainly from lawyer Utterson, a close friend of Jekyll and in charge of executing Jekyll s last
will. Thus, no background of Jekyll is provided. In fact, it is only mentioned that he lives in a splendid
home in 19th century London with multiple rooms and a laboratory, and that he has servants to his
dispose. When Utterson first meets Hyde, he is described as someone unnormal with evil hints. It is
described that his exterior generates feelings of disgust and even unease to other characters. Yet this
deformity is described not only on a physical level but also on moral one (and thus, differs from the

Hyde. In this way, Jekyll becomes monstrous himself as he wishes to pass on his evil parts into
another person. Jekyll s concoction is a threat to cultural morals and values as it enables someone to
set evil free. Consequently, there is no obligation and interest in adhering to any moral standards. In
the end, he is a split person, one half is represented by Jekyll and the other one by Hyde. Stevenson
used the different standpoints in the story to create the feeling that Jekyll and Hyde are two different
individuals: The Master Hyde, if he were studied, thought he [Utterson], must have secrets of his own;
black secrets, by the look of him; secrets compared to which poor Jekyll s worst would be like
sunshine. (Stevenson 22). Thus, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a story where the line
blurs. As Hyde and Jekyll are one and the same person, the reader realises that they together are both
moral and immoral and both good and

factors that may inhibit a person s movements as:
Old Fractures
Torn Muscles
Rheumatism and Arthritic conditions.
This should all be written within the individuals care plan as well as a step by step plan on that has

Evaluating The Objective Structured Clinical Examination
ASSESSING CLINICAL LEARNING: ASSESSMENT TASK 2 Validity of the Objective Structured
Clinical Examination (OSCE) in Physiotherapy Education Introduction The assessment of clinical
competence is an important part of entry to practice health professional training. Physiotherapy
education strives to produce entry to practice graduates who are able to safely and effectively manage
patient care in an independent manner. As physiotherapy students transition from the academic setting
in to the clinical setting, the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is often used as a
means of determining student s preparedness for safe and effective clinical practice. The OSCE has
been a revolutionary form of assessment, first described in the medical field and now widely applied
in a number of different health professions, including physiotherapy (Alsenany and Al Saif, 2012 and
Newble, 2004). First introduced in 1975 by Harden and colleagues as an alternative to the traditional
long and short case assessments used to evaluate medical student performance, the OSCE is now
generally accepted as a means of reliably and validly assessing the ability of the health professional to
function in a variety of clinical contexts (Swanson, Norman and Linn, 1995, Yudkowsky, 2009 and
Downing and Haladyna, 2009). Use of the OSCE has been reported in many different health
profession training programmes, including medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy and pharmacy

Robert K. Merton s The Rich Get Richer And The Poor Get...
Matthew effect has different meaning in each field. For example, in sociology is the where the rich get
richer and the poor get poorer. Robert K. Merton states in his book Social Theory and Social Structure
In both its original and typical usage it is meant metaphorically to refer to issues of fame or status but
it may also be used literally to refer to cumulative advantage of economic capital (Merton, 7) Matthew
effect or the story of success can be the answer of same question that many people might have. Why
some people are more successful than others? The answer couldn t be just their intelligence or hard
working, as Malcolm Gladwell explains in his book. There would be many more reasons to make a
person successful. If we want to understand that we shouldn t just research only about the person, also
we need to spend more time and research about everything around him such as culture, family, and
their habit. One of Gladwell mention in his book is about the hockey players. The players don t have
same situation and opportunities to be chosen in the team. It is hard to imagine the difference of the
age for some months will effect on the young student chance to be elected on the team. As well
Barnsley in Outliers argues that these kinds of skewed age distributions exist whenever three things
happen: selection, streaming, and differentiated experience. (Gladwell, 25) However, Gladwell named

Iodine 131 as a Treatment for Thyroid Cancer
There are a lot of radioisotopes, which are used in varieties of groups. From all the radioisotope, I
focused on the element of Iodine 131 which is commonly used for thyroid cancer treatment.
Therefore, I wanted to investigate on whether Japan should continue using iodine 131 as a treatment to
cure thyroid cancer and also for the nuclear power plants. In this essay, I will consider the advantage
and limitations of getting the treatment done but also in an economic, environmental and social way.
However, throughout this essay, I will argue that the iodine 131 treatments are good but not
completely good. In this treatment there are benefits of taking the treatment and also limitations or the
disadvantages of taking this treatment. It can be disadvantaging in economically, socially and
ethically. Thyroid cancer is fast growing cancer meaning this disease is common that it spreads all
over the world. According to American Cancer Society, 60,220 people in the US is suffering with
thyroid cancer in 2013, and 1,850 people out of 60,220 are not surviving. And it is said that most of
the population is the children (Graeber, Amy, 2013). Although it is spreading and many people are
suffering from it, thyroid cancer is rare that its not one of the major cancers. Out of all these issues one
of them is economical issue. Since the cost of the treatment is expensive, people who works normally

Hennessey Venom Swot Analysis
A car to a normal person will get you from point A to point B and not think anything different. To
other individuals, a car is actually a part of its owner. They treat it as part of the family. These
individuals will take their pride and joy and manipulate their automobile to get the most out of it. This
could be just for looks or for performance. One of the most important things to a car junkie looks for
is speed. Since the day the automobile was created, individuals kept pushing the limits of how fast
they could go. The Model T when it was invented had a top speed between 40 45 MPH back in 1919.
These days, individuals have been able to slightly improve upon those numbers. In 2014, a Hennessey

Salmonella
Salmonella is a prokaryotic, rod shaped, bacterial organism. It is nonsporeforming and Gram negative.
(1) Salmonella is responsible for almost 60 percent of reported cases of bacterial food borne illness
and 40 percent of all food borne illness of any kind. Salmonella survives digestion and reproduces in
the small intestine, making people sick. Salmonella has hundreds of different types, all of which cause
much the same illness in humans. Eating food containing live salmonella bacteria causes

Salmonella can cause enteric fever (typhoid fever). Some children have a salmon colored rash (rose
spots). When Salmonella bacteria get into the bloodstream, they can travel and cause infection
throughout the body. Children with sickle cell disease, HIV, and certain other causes of anemia are
among those at risk for complications from Salmonella. Salmonella can be spread from person to
person by the fecal oral route. Salmonella symptoms usually begin about 24 hours after exposure
(from 6 to 72 hours). Enteric fever can occur up to 60 days after exposure. The symptoms usually go
away within a week in otherwise healthy children. (2) It is estimated that from 2 to 4 million cases of
salmonellosis occur in the U.S. annually. (4)
Many different kinds of illnesses can cause diarrhea, fever or abdominal cramps.
Determining that Salmonella is the cause of the illness depends on laboratory tests which identify

The View Of Private Property
The scholarly works of thinker Clement of Alexandria focus on the issue of private property through
text analysis of the New Testament, claiming that a rich man is as likely to be corrupt as a poor man is.
A section from the New Testament focuses on the conditions for man to enter heaven in which it is
stated A camel shall more easily enter through the eye of the needle than a rich man into the kingdom
of God (Mark 10.17 27). The text suggests that simply because a man has a large amount of money, he
may not go to heaven. Clement respectfully disagrees with this quote on the immorality of wealthy
people; he believes that people should be judged based on the passions of his soul , rather than
quantity of material possessions (Clement 6). Clement s ancient, yet relevant opinion on the biblical
perspective of private property is applicable to the discussion of human nature. A homeless man
without a dime to spend or crumb to eat is equally as likely to have a corrupt soul as a successful
businessman with a million dollar house is. We cannot assess one s purity of character based on their
wealth and possessions. While many rich people have been tainted by their possessions and lost sight
of their moral character, not all people who have obtained wealth act this way. An upper class
businessman cannot be assumed dishonest based on the stereotypical characteristics of his social class.
Therefore, it is only ethical to treat people as individuals, not as members of a community.

among his greatest accomplishments? As president, he authorized this purchase, ultimately considered
one of the greatest real estate deals ever made. A mere $15 million dollars doubled the size of the
United States, acquiring economic resources, strategic advantages, and political power. It also
removed obstacles to westward expansion, setting the nation on the road to become a continental
power. Why would Jefferson not recognize this as a significant personal accomplishment? Did he ...

There was not specific language in the Constitution that authorized the government to make such
acquisitions of foreign territory, so many people viewed Jefferson s actions as unconstitutional. They
also viewed it as hypocritical, given his previously strict constructionist stance and heavy criticism of
others for stepping beyond the bounds of the Constitution. Jefferson made many attempts to validate
the authorization, arguing, for instance, that What is practicable must often control what is pure theory.
He meant that the practical benefits of the purchase were more important than his own personal
constitutional beliefs. Certainly, although controversial, the purchase of Louisiana allowed the United
States to flourish in ways that one could not have

How Did Henry Ford Impact The Automobile Industry
Henry Ford was the man who created the weekend and we thank him for that. Henry Ford changed the
car industry more than anyone before him. Ford was the man who started the Ford Motor Company,
the quadricycle, the Model T, and changed the way businesses run. Ford made it farther with the help
of friends, Thomas Edison who gave Ford a job at his plant. Due to all of the things that Ford did, he
impacted the car industry forever. The support in Ford s early life helped him get to the inventor he
was. Ford s parents supported him in his inventing, they gave him a little work space in a barn for him
to work on his invention. Henry Ford was born on a farm outside of Detroit, Henry was one of the

patent on the carburetor. The quadricycle is what started Fords motor journey in creating Ford Motors.
The Detroit Motor Company was started in 1899 by Ford, It would eventually be called Ford Motors.
Before the Model T was perfected made Model N, S, and R, none of them were as good as the Model
T. Ford had investors that loved the Model T and its success. Ford introduced the Model T, the first car
to be affordable for most Americans, in October 1908 and continued its construction until 1927. The
Model T was able to be produced for so long because of its investors, Charles Edgar, J.Frank Duryea,
Elwood Haynes, and Hiram Percy Maxim. The Model T only came in one color for the entire
production of it. The Model A was the new and improved Model T. The Model T s success wouldn t

German Supernatural
The Supernatural Through the Ages German literature has evolved significantly throughout the
centuries. These changes can be seen in the content, and in the German language itself. Despite these
changes, one constant factor has remained, and continued to play a role in German literature from the
charms of the Old High German period, to the love poems and stories of the Early New High German.
This factor is the element of the supernatural. Supernatural is defined, by The Merriam Webster
Dictionary, as, Departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws
of nature . It is not singularly ghosts, or phantom haunts, but, also, magic, dragons, and the mystical
powers of gods and higher beings. It is this form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This period was characterized by the prayers and charms that marked the existence of polytheism.
These beliefs would directly contrast those of the works that would develop in the later periods, as
Christianity spread across Germany. However, the presentation of prayers and wishes to the gods
would continue to follow format, even as the belief system of this period withered away into
something new. It is with this perspective that one looks onto, The Merseburg Charms. In these
charms, the supernatural element cannot be denied, as the writer calls on the gods for the loosening of
the enemy s ties on captives, and, in the second section, healing for those with a sprain or small
fracture. Not only was the author calling on the supernatural power of the deities, these charms would
set the precedent for modern understanding of the time s supernatural beliefs. This is, partially, done
through understanding the formula for recitation, and prayers. In Volume 20 of The Journal of
American Folklore, it is stated that it will be observed that the recitation of the mythological precedent
frequently concludes with a precise formula, supposedly uttered by the deity or hero who appears in
the incident . The potency of a phrase having been proved by its use under supernatural auspices, the
conjurer believes that a recital of the same formula will insure the attainment of his end . Similar to a
prayer, these charms called upon

Establishing Unity Roundtable With An Updated Version Of...
We started our semester with the main goal of establishing UNITY Roundtable with an updated
version of constitutions and bylaws. After a couple of weeks of receiving feedback from the UNITY
Roundtable reps we settled and voted on the latest version of them. After that was completed,
Deshauna and I with the help of the reps we worked to recruit a SFAC Liaison and after several weeks
we elected Vincent Wan. He will oversee the allocation of next year budgets and make sure the
process and decisions is equitable and inclusive of multicultural organizations.
Through the semester, we came up with different long term goals such as creating a proposal for the
renovation of the three multicultural houses. To complete the research and plan we formed a
workgroup that will be chaired by Senator Carter. This working group is formed by three UNITY
Roundtable members and three Student Senators. They will research best practices from other
institutions and create a proposal that UNITY will vote on and present to the board of Trustees during
their spring gathering.
This semester was hard for students from marginalized communities, hence, most of UNITY s
organizations. Starting with the hate crime targeting two Latina students on campus. We reacted to this
by organizing a meeting for student to color. During this meeting we address the hate crime, self care,
and action steps. We invited Scott Law, Tony Tyler, and Provost Sue Madison to speak with us about
how the incident was going to

The American Of New Canada
Welcome good friend to the brand new state of New Canada! What once was a corrupt country north
of the center of the world (U.S.) is now the 55th state to the American Empire. The year is 2050, and
almost five years since the ending of the Third World War. Five years post war and civilization is still
in a state of recovery, which is why we bring Americans a piece of the past and a bit of familiarity
with the grand opening of New Canada s capitol building. We do this to honor the fallen and help
Canadians assimilate into American Culture.
New Canada is a shell of what it used to be before its great depression and eventually WWIII. The
Canadian depression started in 2033 with what historians are now calling The Great Sellout.
Historians have no idea what initially caused it, but the act was that all businesses in Canada relocated
and outsourced to foreign countries leaving millions of Canadian citizens unemployed and Canada
without industry. Canada suffered the largest deficit ever to be had by a country at the time and the
record only grew higher every year after. In its desperation, Canada sold itself out to China in 2039 in
an attempt to improve the lives of its citizens. China took over what used to be car factories and turned
them into weapon manufacturers. Only one year after the colonization of Canada, China invaded the
U.S.
WWIII lasted for five years, ending in 2055 with the U.S. now having control over China and part of
Russia, Ukraine, and Japan. These four

Essay On Sex Trafficking
Sex Trafficking
Sex trafficking is defined as the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a
person for the purpose of a commercial sex act. (Polaris Project) Sex trafficking is happening in the
United States more than people truly know. An estimated 293,000 children are in danger of being
sexually trafficked in the U.S. (Sexual Trafficking) In the United States some women sell themselves
for sex for their own benefits, but countless others are made to be slaves for the benefit of the pimp by
threats, fraud, abuse, coercion, and many other reasons.
Sex trafficking victims can be men or women, child or adult, male or female, foreign or U.S. born.
Most often the victims are females between the ages of five and twenty five with the average age
range being twelve to fourteen. (Crisis Aid)
Pimps often look for victims that won t be missed, such as drug users or runaways, but sometimes

Once a sex trafficking victim is trusted to go out and sell herself for sex she is will more than likely be
given a nightly quota. The victim must use whatever she can to get the money that is required, which
is normally around $500 $1000. The victim can sell herself for sex but often when they get desperate
to get enough for money they turn to theft. Quotas must be met. If they don t get met the victim may
be forced back on the streets, or denied food, water, and sleep. The victim must turn over 100% of the

The Negative Effects Of Poverty
Poverty is the deficiency of necessary money, goods, or means of support. (Pauper 1125 75). When we
hear our peers, friends or family speak about poverty it s generally associated with a person s financial
status. However, poverty is much more than the financial impact. It effects not only financial stability,
but has a psychological, behavioral, and emotional impact. Most people do not know or understand
the alternating effects of poverty. Sociologists, psychologists and others in the field have debated for
many years about whether or not poverty actually has an effect on an individual s behavior. Though a
lengthy debate, studies have proven poverty can and does have an effect on an individual s physical,
social, and developmental behaviors. (Ramathan, 2016) When children are in their early stages of
learning they are extremely receptive to their environment. The development of a child s brain is so
sensitive that being exposed to poverty in these early years can negatively affect the structure and
function of the young brain. Children are very perceptive. Unfortunately, regardless of the effort by
parents or guardians, children are effected emotionally as well as physically by poverty. These
children have to understand, cope with and overcome the effects of poverty. This undue stress can lead
to a myriad of effects like low academic achievement, behavioral and emotional problems like low
self esteem, anxiety and depression (apa.org). I remember growing in school I had a friend that would
travel an extra 20 minutes to get to school. I finally asked her one day why she made the trip when
there were schools that were closer to her home. She explained that she lived in an area of town
known as the projects . She went on to explain that the schools closer to her home were in a different
school district, that wasn t as good as the school district my school was in. She explained how
different the schools were. Her explanation is a reflection of the early self awareness children in
poverty have. In my schoolmate s case, her reaction to her economic status was to overcome, but all
too often children succumb to the negative effects.
Her statement also addresses another issue children of poverty have to

Dickens Attitude Toward Education in Hard Times Essay
Dickens Attitude Toward Education in Hard Times Dickens wrote Hard Times in 1854, when the
industrial revolution was active. This influenced the way the book was written. In the first two
chapters of Hard Times, Dickens attitudes to education are presented. He uses two characters,
Gradgrind and M Choakumchild to show the bad views of education and the opposition to Dickens
views. There is an immediate tension between Dickens way of thinking and Gradgrind s and M
Choakumchild s. Gradgrind and M Choakumchild call the children vessels and do not use names but
numbers. The children are allowed no independent thought. While Bitzer is how he is supposed to be,
Sissy Jupe is free spirited and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that Gradgrind always mentally introduces himself, which suggests that he self conscious and
wants to know who he is before he shares it with anyone else. He is also organised and this is seen
when it says with a rule and a pair of scales, and the multiplication table always in his pocket . M
Choakumchild is introduced later in the second chapter; he is one of the one hundred and forty
schoolmasters. Instead of the way he looked being described, like Gradgrind, his intelligence was
described. The subjects and skills that he studied and has knowledge about were listed, e.g. biography
, algebra and vocal music . M Choakumchild knows a lot about these subjects because they are full of
facts and imagination is not really needed to know about them. He believes that fact is all that the
children need to know and like Gradgrind does not believe in freethinking. M Chockumchild is the
one who will teach the children how to be like in school life and social life. Gradgrind and M
Choakumchild are presented as plain people who do not like change. They have only one straight
forward idea of how the education system should be. They both see children as empty vessels and
believe that they should be seen and not heard. Dickens shows the juxtaposition of two pupils in the
first two chapters; Sissy Jupe and Bitzer. Sissy Jupe is known as girl

Hunger Short Story
Throughout the novella Hunger by Lan Samantha Chang the reader is provided with different stories
of Chinese immigrant parents and their children and how it is that they all struggle to communicate
due to the different languages that are spoken by each member of the family, whether it be music or an
actual language. Although the hardship to communicate between parent and child is an important
problem to discuss there is a voice that is often left out, the voice of the internal and external struggle
that immigrant parents face. An immigrant parent will be faced with more difficulty to assimilate to
their new environment or in the case of Min they will reject the ideas of assimilation, they create their
own world in which their culture and self s remains intact. This leads me to wonder why else someone
would not wish to assimilate and what obstacles come with rejecting their new environment.
Although it is not explicitly stated throughout the novella Min is reluctant to learn English due to the
fear of losing her culture and herself in the processes. Min s fear of losing herself further emphasizes
the internal struggles that immigrant parents face. Struggles that go unnoticed due to the focus usually
being the offspring and the struggles that they face as a product of immigrant parents. Focusing more
on why an immigrant parent would chose to not learn a language to protect their identity and their
culture, I have asked my parents about their own experiences and feelings

A Horror Movie Reasoning Why we Crave Horror Movies is an essay written by the most popular
horror author, who works included Carrie (1974), The Shining (1977), The Dead Zone (1979) and
Misery (1987), Stephen King. The excerpt originally came from his book Danse Macabre. Why we

explanation of why King felt that people craved horror movies. He goes into great detail throughout
the essay and gave various reasons of he felt the way he did. While reading the first the that came to

King is making a huge assumption throughout the essay, which came of very strong. Lastly, ethos
because of the tone King sets in the essay, and pathos because overall King has a purpose for the essay
he wrote. Target audience was the first thing that came to mind when reading this essay, because in the
beginning it said that this essay was published in Playboy Magazine. Playboy Magazine s target
audience has always been adult men, mainly due to the content of the magazine that extends beyond
the literature published in it. Because it was published in that specific magazine, you can make the
assumption that King s target audience was adult men whose forms of entertainment choices could be
deemed as thrill seeking . Secondly, the essay s logos presented within a huge assumption which was

Christians and Muslims have been fighting a long time to control the land of Israel because they both

An example of poor practices from an organisational point of view is the mid Staffordshire NHS
scandal, which showed that between 400 and 1,200 patients died as a result of poor care between
January 2005 and March 2009 at Stafford hospital, which shows that there was clearly a lack of
quality care being provided and that there was something that was not quite right occurring within the

high death rates over such a short period of time, which was obviously cause for concern. It is often

concern when it was turned into a full blown investigation. Within

The Confederate Battle Flag was once known as the Southern Cross and represented the eleven states

Additionally, the flag was a popular symbol for white supremacy. With the stigma it possesses, it is
not surprising that people today are upset that the flag is still widely flown. This is seen especially

Walmart s Sustainable Business Development
Walmart s Sustainable Business Development
The purpose of this paper is to introduce you to the role of sustainable business philosophies and
practices of Walmart as well as looking at Walmart s strategic management perspectives and what type
of impact and influences they have on the external forces in the industry. While also focusing on
Walmart s concept of value creation applied to SBD (sustainable business development) and their
strategies.
Defining
Sustainable business philosophies are a system of fundamental or motivating principles that a business
handles in different areas of operation based on the actions or beliefs of that business. For businesses
to have a sound business philosophy is the cornerstone of a successful business (Burney, n.d). The
businesses philosophy is usually the company s mission and vision statement, which explains the
company s overall goals and their purpose of being in business (Burney, n.d.). Mission statements are
a guide for a company to develop and implement a corporate sustainability strategy and are usually
incorporated in a company s sustainability report (Epstein Buhovac, 2014). Sustainable business
practices are when a business initiates environmentally friendly operations internally and externally to
become a sustainable organization and to reduce their environmental footprint by cutting down on
waste (Belcher, n.d.).
Strategic management perspectives are how a company views and solves important issues in order to

The Shoemaker and the Tea Party by Alfred Young revolves around two bibliographies written about
one of the last living participants of the Boston Tea Party, and the authors own interpretations of the
events surrounding the Tea Party and the American Revolution as a whole. In this particular novel,
Young explores what it means to rediscover history, and how history is continually redefined.
Particular attention in the novel is given to public history, and how highlighting people otherwise lost
to time can completely change how an event is perceived. Readers are given the opportunity to see the
history behind the American Revolution through the lenses of an average man of that time. In this

Young also makes reference to some of the countless books he serendipitously came across in his
research surrounding the American Revolution, and the event that would come to be known as the
Boston Tea Party. Young pulls from his large selection of evidence to make his points throughout the
novel.
In order to understand Hewes, Young delved into the psychology of memory and references noted
psychologist Daniel Schachter. (xiii.) By understanding why someone remembers an event in a
particular way, gives insight into how memories are consolidated. Hewes memory for a man is age is
remarkable to say the least. The emotion tied to a particular memory is able to enhance it (xii). Young
seems to use this evidence to lend creditability to the way that Hewes remembers particular events
such as the Boston Massacre. At the same time, Young explores while Hewes would be able to
remember more during the interviews for the second bibliography written about him. Young implies
that the first interview essentially helped to focus Hewes memory which allowed him to remember
more easily with Thatcher in his second interview as well as remembering new anecdotes.
The first portion of the novel deals mostly with Hewes life and why he lived the life that he did.
Young s portrayal of a young Hewes, ever defiant, immediately causes a reader to reminisce of his or
her own childhood. It soon becomes evidently clear that where one ended up in life depended

American Airlines had been the largest airline in the United States for a long time. In 1990 and 1991
due to a recession and the Gulf War, demand for air travel dropped drastically, for this reason, fare

3,4 The Airline industry and the market The airline industry is large, specially in the United States,
mainly due to the Deregulation of the industry. In 1938, the Civil Aeronautics Board was created to
control the growth of the air transportation industry. This board had the authority to control entry, exit,
prices and methods of competition. In the late 1970 this structure was found inefficient and in 1978
deregulation took place. Due to the deregulation of the industry competition intensified, prices
dropped, and the number of people travelling increased. Many new companies emerged and regional
airlines saw deregulation as an opportunity to expand. Due to the rise in competition, by 1986 mergers
started to take place and in 1987 64.8% of the market was controlled by the four largest airlines. The
demand for air travel is determined mainly by price, studies revealed that half of the leisure travellers
and on quarter of business travellers did not have a preference for a particular airline, which means

Enron s Impact On Enron
In 1985, two companies, Houston Natural Gas, and InterNorth merged to form Enron. Kenneth Lay
wanted to create a company that can supply electricity and natural gas at a much lower price. As time
went on, Enron ranked as the nation s sixth largest energy company with global internet trading
commodities in plastics, steel, petrochemicals and waste water to name a few (Fusaro, 2000, p. 157).
From the time they merged to form Enron up to the point of their collapse, Enron s executive
committee had squandered many of the company s assets through bad strategies, hiding money, and
creating an illusion of a stable financial company.
Most of the top executives overstated Enron s earnings by several million dollars (Niskanen, 2005)
causing the company s stockholders to lose millions of dollars. Kenneth Lay who joined InterNorth,
later renamed Enron, in 1985 became the CEO the following year. In 1990, Kenneth Lay hired Jeff
Skilling to work in the operations department. Jeff Skilling would eventually take over Enron in 2001
as there Chief Executive Officer, replacing Kenneth Lay (Zimmerli, Richter, Holzinger, 2007, p. 131).

  • 7. Essay about The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V The Evolution of Shakespeare s Henry V Foremost among the characters William Shakespeare develops in his series of historical plays is, undoubtedly, the character of Henry V. Henry, also at times referred to as Harry or Hal, develops through the course of four plays: Richard II, I Henry IV, II Henry IV, and Henry V. From the brief mention of Henry in Richard II to the full focus upon him in Henry V, a dramatic change clearly takes place: the playful carousing youth portrayed in the first play develops into a King and conqueror by the conclusion of the final play. In order to truly examine his development however, one must examine the growth and eventual fusion of two undeniable separate characters: the prince Henry, and the youth Hal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In I Henry IV, when we finally meet Hal, the image presented in Richard II becomes conflicted. We see Hal placed in an environment one might expect based upon the comments in Richard II the Boar s Head Taven but he delivers a soliloquy which stands in stark contrast with the Hal we expected. While this soliloquy in which declares his tavern dwelling to be a mere ruse to gain influence lends credence to Hal s Machiavellian image, the context and the precise nature of the speech makes it difficult to extend that line of reasoning and label him a Machiavel. Thus, when Hal states By so much shall I falsify men s hopes, And like bright metal on a sullen ground, My reformation, glitt ring o er my fault, Shall show more goodly and attract more eyes Than that which hath no foil to set it off (I Henry IV I.iii.211) That same moment can be said to be the foundation for the development of the separate identity of Henry. Though childishly unwilling to accept his fate on one level, he is clearly preparing himself for the responsibilities of the throne on another level. When he chooses to return the stolen goods from the Boar s Head heist, he is allowing his noble virtues to surface. These developing and arguably primitive virtues contest greatly with the separate character of Hotspur, an individual largely defined by his honor. Thus, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Symbolism In John Irving s A Prayer For Owen Meany Symbolism is often shown in John Irving s A Prayer for Owen Meany through recurring topics such as armlessness. From Owen amputating the armadillos claws, to Owen being obsessed with amputations in general, this topic foreshadows Owen s death, and helps build the theme of destiny and fate. Irving uses armlessness to symbolize helplessness and loss of something very important to a person. At the start of the novel, after Owen s foul ball killed Tabitha, John gives Owen his armadillo to show Owen that he still loves him. When Owen returned the armadillo, the claws were missing because Owen amputated them. Owen explains that Dan, John, and himself all lost a part of them just like the armadillo lost his claws. Owen had meant to say that God had taken his hands and that he believed he was an instrument of God. GOD HAS TAKEN YOUR MOTHER. MY HANDS WERE THE INSTRUMENT. GOD HAS TAKEN MY HANDS. I AM GOD S INSTRUMENT. (90) Owen used his arms to throw the foul ball that killed Tabitha. He amputated the armadillo s claws to show John and Dan that when they lost Tabitha, they both lost something important to them just as the claws of an armadillo were important to the animal. This quote also foreshadows how Owen dies, and how God put him on the Earth to fulfill a God given task. As the novel continues, John recalls a memory of Owen and him having a sleepover. At that sleepover Owen felt very sick, so he went to go ask John s mother, Tabitha for help. When Owen walked into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the twenty eight articles of the Jay Treaty, conflicts in trading, territory, and impressment were all addressed and revised. The Jay Treaty, written by John Jay and ideas from Alexander Hamilton, was a set of articles which was created to prevent another war with Great Britain. As physiotherapy students transition from the academic setting in to the clinical setting, the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is often used as a means of determining student s preparedness for safe and effective clinical practice. The OSCE has been a revolutionary form of assessment, first described in the medical field and now widely applied in a number of different health professions, including physiotherapy (Alsenany and Al Saif, 2012 and Newble, 2004). First introduced in 1975 by Harden and colleagues as an alternative to the traditional long and short case assessments used to evaluate medical student performance, the OSCE is now generally accepted as a means of reliably and validly assessing the ability of the health professional to function in a variety of clinical contexts (Swanson, Norman and Linn, 1995, Yudkowsky, 2009 and Downing and Haladyna, 2009). • 19. The View Of Private Property The scholarly works of thinker Clement of Alexandria focus on the issue of private property through text analysis of the New Testament, claiming that a rich man is as likely to be corrupt as a poor man is. A section from the New Testament focuses on the conditions for man to enter heaven in which it is stated A camel shall more easily enter through the eye of the needle than a rich man into the kingdom of God (Mark 10.17 27). The text suggests that simply because a man has a large amount of money, he may not go to heaven. Clement respectfully disagrees with this quote on the immorality of wealthy people; he believes that people should be judged based on the passions of his soul , rather than quantity of material possessions (Clement 6). Clement s ancient, yet relevant opinion on the biblical perspective of private property is applicable to the discussion of human nature. A homeless man without a dime to spend or crumb to eat is equally as likely to have a corrupt soul as a successful businessman with a million dollar house is. We cannot assess one s purity of character based on their wealth and possessions. While many rich people have been tainted by their possessions and lost sight of their moral character, not all people who have obtained wealth act this way. • 28. The Negative Effects Of Poverty Poverty is the deficiency of necessary money, goods, or means of support. (Pauper 1125 75). When we hear our peers, friends or family speak about poverty it s generally associated with a person s financial status. However, poverty is much more than the financial impact. It effects not only financial stability, but has a psychological, behavioral, and emotional impact. Most people do not know or understand the alternating effects of poverty. Sociologists, psychologists and others in the field have debated for many years about whether or not poverty actually has an effect on an individual s behavior. Though a lengthy debate, studies have proven poverty can and does have an effect on an individual s physical, social, and developmental behaviors. (Ramathan, 2016) When children are in their early stages of learning they are extremely receptive to their environment. The development of a child s brain is so sensitive that being exposed to poverty in these early years can negatively affect the structure and function of the young brain. Children are very perceptive. Unfortunately, regardless of the effort by parents or guardians, children are effected emotionally as well as physically by poverty. These children have to understand, cope with and overcome the effects of poverty. This undue stress can lead to a myriad of effects like low academic achievement, behavioral and emotional problems like low self esteem, anxiety and depression (apa.org). I remember growing in school I had a friend that would travel an extra 20 minutes to get to school. I finally asked her one day why she made the trip when there were schools that were closer to her home. She explained that she lived in an area of town known as the projects . She went on to explain that the schools closer to her home were in a different school district, that wasn t as good as the school district my school was in. She explained how different the schools were. Her explanation is a reflection of the early self awareness children in poverty have. In my schoolmate s case, her reaction to her economic status was to overcome, but all too often children succumb to the negative effects. Her statement also addresses another issue children of poverty have to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Dickens Attitude Toward Education in Hard Times Essay Dickens Attitude Toward Education in Hard Times Dickens wrote Hard Times in 1854, when the industrial revolution was active. This influenced the way the book was written. In the first two chapters of Hard Times, Dickens attitudes to education are presented. He uses two characters, Gradgrind and M Choakumchild to show the bad views of education and the opposition to Dickens views. There is an immediate tension between Dickens way of thinking and Gradgrind s and M Choakumchild s. Gradgrind and M Choakumchild call the children vessels and do not use names but numbers. The children are allowed no independent thought. While Bitzer is how he is supposed to be, Sissy Jupe is free spirited and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is said that Gradgrind always mentally introduces himself, which suggests that he self conscious and wants to know who he is before he shares it with anyone else. He is also organised and this is seen when it says with a rule and a pair of scales, and the multiplication table always in his pocket . M Choakumchild is introduced later in the second chapter; he is one of the one hundred and forty schoolmasters. Instead of the way he looked being described, like Gradgrind, his intelligence was described. The subjects and skills that he studied and has knowledge about were listed, e.g. biography , algebra and vocal music . M Choakumchild knows a lot about these subjects because they are full of facts and imagination is not really needed to know about them. He believes that fact is all that the children need to know and like Gradgrind does not believe in freethinking. M Chockumchild is the one who will teach the children how to be like in school life and social life. Gradgrind and M Choakumchild are presented as plain people who do not like change. They have only one straight forward idea of how the education system should be. They both see children as empty vessels and believe that they should be seen and not heard. Dickens shows the juxtaposition of two pupils in the first two chapters; Sissy Jupe and Bitzer. Sissy Jupe is known as girl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hunger Short Story Throughout the novella Hunger by Lan Samantha Chang the reader is provided with different stories of Chinese immigrant parents and their children and how it is that they all struggle to communicate due to the different languages that are spoken by each member of the family, whether it be music or an actual language. Although the hardship to communicate between parent and child is an important problem to discuss there is a voice that is often left out, the voice of the internal and external struggle that immigrant parents face. An immigrant parent will be faced with more difficulty to assimilate to their new environment or in the case of Min they will reject the ideas of assimilation, they create their own world in which their culture and self s remains intact. This leads me to wonder why else someone would not wish to assimilate and what obstacles come with rejecting their new environment. Although it is not explicitly stated throughout the novella Min is reluctant to learn English due to the fear of losing her culture and herself in the processes. Min s fear of losing herself further emphasizes the internal struggles that immigrant parents face. Struggles that go unnoticed due to the focus usually being the offspring and the struggles that they face as a product of immigrant parents. Focusing more on why an immigrant parent would chose to not learn a language to protect their identity and their culture, I have asked my parents about their own experiences and feelings ... In this particular novel, Young explores what it means to rediscover history, and how history is continually redefined. Particular attention in the novel is given to public history, and how highlighting people otherwise lost to time can completely change how an event is perceived. Young also makes reference to some of the countless books he serendipitously came across in his research surrounding the American Revolution, and the event that would come to be known as the Boston Tea Party. Young pulls from his large selection of evidence to make his points throughout the novel. In order to understand Hewes, Young delved into the psychology of memory and references noted psychologist Daniel Schachter. (xiii.) By understanding why someone remembers an event in a particular way, gives insight into how memories are consolidated. Hewes memory for a man is age is remarkable to say the least. The emotion tied to a particular memory is able to enhance it (xii). Young seems to use this evidence to lend creditability to the way that Hewes remembers particular events such as the Boston Massacre. At the same time, Young explores while Hewes would be able to remember more during the interviews for the second bibliography written about him. Young implies that the first interview essentially helped to focus Hewes memory which allowed him to remember more easily with Thatcher in his second interview as well as remembering new anecdotes. The first portion of the novel deals mostly with Hewes life and why he lived the life that he did. Young s portrayal of a young Hewes, ever defiant, immediately causes a reader to reminisce of his or her own childhood. It soon becomes evidently clear that where one ended up in life depended ...
