Fifth Business by Robertson Davies
Boy Staunton, the antagonist in the novel Fifth Business by Robertson Davies, is a very successful
business man. Boy Staunton is motivated by self distraction in life which he believes will rid himself
of remorseful feelings. Although it may appear that he is living the dream, the guilt from traumatizing
childhood events slowly torture and eventually destroy him. Boy s decision to commit suicide is
greatly influenced by Mary Dempster, Leola Cruikshank and Dunstan Ramsay because they are
constant reminders of his mistakes and failures. At the age of ten, Boy Staunton and his best friend
Dunstan Ramsay, began to fight after a day of sledding. Boy accidentally hit a pregnant woman,
named Mary Dempster, when Dunstan dodged his snowball and caused the woman to go into
premature labour with her son, Paul. Dunny dealt with the guilt by supporting Mrs. Dempster whereas
Boy ignored the whole situation completely. When Dunny brought up the snowball incident years later
to Boy and Paul, Boy realizes that he is responsible and now has to deal with this guilt. When Paul
said, You have no recollection of Mrs. Dempster? Boy responded with, None at all. Why should I?
(Davies, 267) this quotation truly emphasizes how dismissive Boy is about the incident. Boy is
motivated by self distraction so he does not let his faults linger and get in the way of his success. As a
child, his parents contributed to his success by building up his confidence so events like this would not

Compare And Contrast Boem Vs Beowulf
BEOWULF: THE FILM (2007) VERSUS THE POEM
The film version of Beowulf is more enjoyable than the translated portion of the epic poem, due to the
eventful plot. In the beginning of the film Beowulf told of a graphic flashback of him battling sea
monsters. This gives an effective understanding of how strong and courageous Beowulf is. This is not
spoken of in the translated portion. Also, in the film Beowulf falsely claims that he killed Grendel s
mother. This fabrication, told by Beowulf soon influences major events of the film that were not
included in the poem. Lastly, conversations with Grendel s mother were included in the film. This
provides the film more of an exhilarating climax that is not given in the translated portion. Essentially

John Oliver Rhetorical Analysis
Using Theories to Assess Improve Messaging: John Oliver and the New York Yankees Analyzing
communication messages through late night shows varies. Mixing humor with specific news stories
provides an interesting message, depending on the audience. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver uses
specific news segments and analyzes it through the use of extensive research and humor. This includes
his segment on the New York Yankees, where he makes it very clear which position he is taking on the
issue. This segment dives into the elitist practices of the Yankees organization, which include not
allowing fans to print out tickets at home and opening the elite Legends Club with expensive premium
seats. Through the use of effective theories and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The winners of Oliver s ticket giveaway wore costumes like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
unicorns and sharks. When compared to the negative audience response toward Lonn Trost, the
response toward John Oliver s offer is extremely positive, and resonates with the audience as a result.
In order to make Oliver s use of pathos effective is to have effective uses of logos and ethos. However,
Oliver relies more on logos than ethos in this segment. In each of his shows, Oliver backs up his
claims by showing studies and news stories relating back to his argument. His segment on the New
York Yankees is no different, as he uses a variety of different sources. For example, when explaining
the Yankees elitist policies, Oliver shows a commercial for the New York Yankees Legends Club,
which is for wealthy season ticket holders. By using this source, he backs up his claim on how elitist
the Yankees are when compared to other sports teams. Oliver s use of the three artistic proofs was
overall very effective and funny, which is especially important towards his audience. The show s
media spectrum falls mainly on the Internet, where about 94% of Oliver s demographic watches his
show, while the audience s top interests are entertainment, media, famous people and societal issues.
When looking at audience demographics, John Oliver is generally doing an excellent job of using an
argument to persuade his

How The Rate Of That Ethanol Produces Ethanal By Potassium...
This experiment was about determining the rate of that ethanol produces ethanal by potassium
dichromate. The ethanol reacts with chromic acid to produce ethanal, and the rate was measured using
a spectrophotometer.
Equation: 6 H3O(aq) + 3 CH3CH2OH(aq) + 2 H2CrO4(aq) → 3 CH3CHO(aq) + 2Cr2+(aq) + 14
H2O(l)
Second Order Rate Law: Rate = k[ CH3CH2OH][H2CrO4] This second order reaction behaves like a
pseudo first order reaction when one of the two concentrations is much greater than the other. In this
experiment, the concentration of ethanol was so large compared to that of chromic acid that its change
in concentration as the reaction occurred was negligible when compared to the that of chromic acid,
thereby creating a pseudo first order reaction

The Consequential Pleasures of Pornography
The first central question investigated in this study is focused on how the male s rate and intensity of
porn consumption in a relationship, has a negative correlation with the self esteem of the women and
their perception on relationship quality, and sexual satisfaction. The second central question
investigated in this study questions whether the women s self esteem can reveal a connection between
the male s rate and intensity of porn consumption with the relationship quality and sexual satisfaction
in the relationship. The third question is similar to the latter question where the length of the
relationship is the factor reveal the connection between the male s rate and intensity of porn
consumption with the relationship quality and sexual satisfaction in the relationship. The method of
this study is an online survey of 308 participants, that was the final amount after the original sample of
330 that was reduced because of participants failure to meet the validity check. The final sample
consisted of female college students in the age range of 18 to 29 years. Stewart and Szymanski
suggest that this is the ideal population for the study because this is when people are exploring their
sexuality and have more access to doing so in the college environment due to the absence of parental
restrictions. However, the survey itself can create a response bias because there are students who are
only doing this for a school credit or the chance to win a $100 raffle prize. Stewart

Convocation Research Paper
September third in convocation many people including myself that attended were very inspired. The
convocations meeting has many different aspects to it. first walking in you heard the band playing
which was nice to hear after that we saw line of many older people who have graduated with degrees
going inside starting the meeting. Honesty this being my first convocation meeting I was not very fond
of the thought of going especially after hearing all the upperclassmen big bad about it. So when I saw
all those people going onto the stage I thought they were all going to have very long speeches so i
immediately had an internal cry about how my back was going to feel afterwards . However, only one
person came to speak his name is Mr Knight. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speech was very short and inspiring. I loved the speech because, it was nothing I expected which
was to be writing notes about how to be successful in your classes. Instead of giving us the rules he
told us how to keep ourselves inspired and what we need to get through our lives he basically was
saying we need to keep God close to us. I was inspired by the speech because, I do believe in God but
I sometime forget that I am favored by God and I can do all things through him. I was reminded that
God is my provider and not to stress about anything because with him everything will go right. What
Mr.Knight said was a push for me to keep doing scholarships even though the only ones available are
difficult to receive. I was also reminded who I am as a Christian and what I should be doing and what
I should not be focused on. He gave 3 testimonies and one thing the people say is that through
testimony others become healed , and I was mentally. I regained my faith in God. Growing up in a
Christian household, my siblings and I have always been taught to set our standards high in

The History and Future of the Internet Essay
The History and Future of the Internet
Many believe the internet was an over night sensation, that one day, someone invented the internet and
it spread in popularity faster than Tickle Me Elmo or the Macarena. Although the internet did have a
surge of commercial popularity, with the invention of Mosaic and later with e commerce, it was
created many years ago with the development of military networking technologies. Also, the internet,
unlike many pop culture fads of the nineties, will continue to see a growth in popularity and
usefulness as a form of media throughout the information age. Sure, the internet became
overambitious to the point where many internet start up companies lost their businesses in the
recession of the past few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mosaic, created by Marc Andreessen, is described as the killer application for the internet. Because it
was the first program to provide a slick multimedia graphical user interface, people had a reason to
logon and download their free version of this monumental application. Mosaic soon turned into
Netscape Navigator and the rest is history (dictionary.com).
Through the internet was original used to support the development of the military many years ago, it
became a commercial commodity in the nineties and into the new millennium. The internet grew and
grew as an explosion of people logging on and creating their own personal website. Companies could
advertise their products, people could freely send emails; there was no limit or bounds to its never
ending content. Competition between internet providers increased the speed of the internet from dial
up to DSL/Cable to Ethernet. However, despite an enormous increase in availability and internet
traffic in the early years of the new millennium, a decrease in consumer confidence saw to the death of
many start up companies. It was hard to keep up with the expansion of the internet during its turbulent
growth in the late nineties. Many companies that started a retail or service business made a lot of
money in a short amount of time and then lost it all. This volatile market saw the quick decline in the
consumers loyalty in internet

Comparison Between Greece And Greece
Persia (550 BCE 330 BCE) and Greece (480 BCE 323 BCE) were two strong and prosperous empires.
For over two centuries, persia and Greece have been waging war on one another. Although Persia and
Greece gave men more power than women, both empires developed different social structures and
unalike religious beliefs.
Persia and Greece both have dissimilar social structures that consist of certain individuals. In early
western Iran, the society was categorized into three social classes. The classes consisted of warriors,
priests, and peasants. Warriors had the privilege in gardening, hunting, and fighting. The priest was in
charge of supervising sacrifices. And the peasants or common people were farmers and shepherds. The
Persian King had his groups of people as well. There were the son of Persian aristocrats, noblemen,
the central administration, the king s bodyguard, and many servants/slaves. On the other hand, the
Greeks had two societies: Athens and Sparta. Athens was divided into four classes. The top classes
were allowed to hold state office while the lower class could not. Sparta was separated into three
classes: Spartiate, perioeci, and helots. The Spartiate could participate in politics, serve the military,
and run Sparta. The perioeci could own land, serve in the military, and they were in charge of Sparta s
communication and trade. Last but not least, the helots were at the bottom and the most disliked. They
were slaves and they were only allowed to serve in the

Enterotoxins Essay
Toxins are poisons produced by living organisms. Epidemics of staphylococcal food poisoning are
very common across the world. But, there is hardly any report of SFP from the Indian subcontinent.
An outbreak occurred in Indian country, the Madhya Pradesh s state after the ingestion of a snack that
made up with potato balls fried in vegetable oil, called Bhalla . More than 100 children and adults who
ate the snack suffered from the normal side effects of SFP and required hospitalization. From the
clinical sample of food, there were found a large number of enterotoxigenic Staphylococcus aureus
that appeared (Vijay et al., 2007). Hence, one of the seven enterotoxins that produced by strains of
Staphylococcus aureus was Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB).
Staphylococcal enterotoxins B is commonly referred to as superantigen due to it significant effects on

There was specific enthusiasm in weaponizing SEB exposed in the Cold War Era due to its stability
and potential simplicity in production and distribution. SEB was studied in an aerosolized form for use
as a weapon. It may be purified from culture supernatants in the laboratory, and therefore would be
easy to produce (Pinchuk et al., 2010). Although high dose exposures may well cause fatalities, it is
the weakening consequences of inhalational exposure to agents such as SEB on the battlefield that are
of most concern with regard to biological resistance (Ulrich, n.d.).The extremely small amount of
material that is required for toxic effect indicates that a complex is necessary for the toxin to exert its
effect. SEB can represent a practical bioterrorist weapon because purified toxin can be isolated from

At the Selfridges, the process of performance appraisal is redefined through the new role of leader. As
Purcell et al (2003) believes that the effective appraisal system has found to be the potential to raise
motivation, commitment and the extent to which employee make positive use of any discretionary
power they possess.
Performance appraisal is critical element in the performance management process. A primary aim of
the performance appraisal dimension of performance management is to assess or measure the
achievement of the individual or the team against the agreed objectives. (Stephen and Marjorie, 2006)
According to James N. Baron and David M. Kreps (1999) the consistency in HR practices is important
to achieve long term technical benefits through intensive training programs and careful selection
procedures. This will increase overall efficiency.

Western Influence on Japan Essay
Western Influence on Japan
Japan, as a nation, is a continually changing society. Ever since western nations became involved with
Japan, its changes over recent times have increased at a substantial rate. Japan now faces cultural,
economical and social differences as a result of the western involvement. The involvement was
initiated by the Japanese themselves, beginning during the
Meiji Period1 through current times. As time increases, Japan is slowly becoming more westernized
because of western involvement. Western involvement is greatly affecting Japan.
Western involvement began in Japan during the late 1800 s. The Meiji dynasty helped to carry it
through, seeing the importance of western ideas.

Similarities Between Slavery And Indentured Servants
The institutions of slavery and being an indentured servant is different yet similar. Slavery was set up
in a way that you were born into it and the only way out was death. Slavery was a system set up that
you will be enslaved for life while indentured servitude had an agreement. The agreement was that
you work like a slave for three to seven years then you would be given freedom as well as land. When
you were a slave and an indentured servant the treatment you endured was unbearable. They would
beat them for any reasons they felt necessary. These could include not picking enough cotton, not
responding when spoken too, or even talking back to your master. Many slaves and indentured
servants would die due to this treatment as well as other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the indentured servants ran away or if the women got pregnant then their time could get increased.
The masters would take them to court to see that this happened. Women that were slaves or indentured
servants received the worse treatment because they were looked upon as weaker therefore they
received more abuse including sexual abuse. When masters felt like they could not use the slaves and
indentured servants they were sold. Indentured servants and slaves were not allowed to get married.
African slaves increased because indentured servants were not good for planters needs and the whites
wanted a way to control the outstanding number of African Americans around them. Slavery was
based on the African American race and being black made them inferior to all other humans which
made slavery a hereditary condition in the world. Slaves were the key commodity of exchange. They
were sold as security for debts, for food, war, captives, military recruits, and agricultural laborers.
However, the main difference was that slaves worked with no end date, they would hope and pray that
they got out of being enslaved, but few got out alive. Although it was possible for some to escape,
some were free due to Christian baptism, and others purchased their freedom from

Destroying The Earth Is Destroying Earth
The big question for all of us to answer is Why is deforestation still happening each and every day if is
destroying the Earth? . Deforestation tends to only benefit humankind, and seems to forget about the
negative consequences to the environment. Instead of thinking about the future and how our actions
have consequences, humans seem to only be thinking about their pocketbooks. For example, farming
is one of the main reasons for deforestation. Three hundred million farmers use the slash and burn
method for agriculture. Farming clears forests using the slash and burn method, which in turn provides
a clear plot of land to grow crops for humans. Although it is good to provide food, the slash and burn
method is very dangerous (Deforestation Facts and Statistics). The slash and burn method cuts down
and burns off trees before the new seeds are sown to clear land to farm. In theory, the slash and burn
method is supposed to give communities food and income. However, the negative results include
erosion, decreased biodiversity, and nutrient loss. Arguably, the most significant adverse outcome
involves the huge net increase in global carbon emissions that results from the slash and burn method.
One solution to the slash and burn process involves chopping down selected trees that look weaker
and saving the strong trees to produce offspring, which should assist with stabilizing the environment
(Sitler, Ryan). Logging is another main cause of deforestation. Logging is

Differences Between Google Chrome and Internet Explorer...
Although Google Chrome and Internet Explorer are both web browsers that serve the same
fundamental purpose, there are certain key differences that attract users to one or the other.
The first and most obvious difference is the design of the actual browser. Google Chrome aims to be
more of a lightweight browser, so it features a limited set of options under its preferences, a larger
browser window, and the omnibar, which combines both the search functions and the web functions
into one. This allows Google Chrome to be very simplistic and efficient in browsing. Internet explorer
on the other hand does not have an omnibar, nor are the preferences as straightforward as Google
Chrome, but it does allow the user to modify and tweak many more ... Show more content on

Another major difference is the development of the actual browser. Internet Explorer is developed by
Microsoft using a proprietary code, and as a result, any updates such as bug fixes, new features, or
small modifications that are made on IE have to be released by Microsoft. Google Chrome on the
other hand is a faster, open source browser that uses the open source WebKit code, and anyone who is
able to write code will be able to submit a modified build to a forum (www.chromium.org) that
Google monitors. Any new features that are built into the browser can then be selected by Google, and
placed into the newest version of Google Chrome. To many people this makes Google Chrome a very
desirable option because any bugs and additional features can be fixed or added on almost
immediately.
Although both browsers are constantly updated to deal with new security threats that are found on the
internet the security of both browsers still varies. Two of the standards used to measure the security of
the browsers include the Acid 3 test, and the ability of hackers to hack into computers using the
respective browser. Acid 3 measures the ability of the browser to render and utilise the information
presented on the web, so a rule of thumb, a higher Acid 3 score typically suggests a better built
browser that is able to handle security threats presented online. As of August 18, 2010, the Acid 3 test
of the latest stable release of Google Chrome is 100/100, whilst the score of Internet

The Major Impact Of The Mexican-American War
Introduction The conflict that started in 25th April 1846 up to 2nd February 1848 between America
and Mexico was termed as the Mexican American War and had a significant to both nations. The
reason for the commencement of the war was due to Manifest Destiny, a populist belief that
Americans had a divine right to the land and so enjoyed the freedom to expand their borders towards
the Pacific Ocean. The conflict, which was due to the exact position to place the border for each
country affected mainly the natives. Although both countries actively participated in the war, there
were individuals in America who were against it among them being Henry David Thoreau, an
American writer and philosopher. Those against the war claimed that the United States actions in the
war were unethical.
Thesis: The close to two year long Mexican American war had a major impact to both countries as it
affected the natives by redefining their rights and responsibilities when Mexico lost much of its land
to the US.

Mexico protected itself through constant guerilla attacks on the American supply chains. After the fall
of Mexico City, peace negotiations began when the Mexican government surrendered. On 2nd
February 1848, there was signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo by Mexico bringing the war to
an end (Cukwurah, 60). In the treaty, 525000 miles were added to the US territory as Mexico stopped
its claim on Texas. Rio Grande became officially the US Mexico border while the US had to pay $15
million to Mexico. The treaty helped in stopping Mexican causalities that were increasing at an
alarming rate. Whereas many Americans view the conflict as just war, many Mexicans feel that the
war was an American invasion of their land. The decision to use Military intervention by the US
instead of sticking to negotiations appeared as

Gene expression is the process of protein formation....
Gene expression is the process of protein formation. Proteins are the molecules that are responsible for
enabling us to live. They carry out majority of the processes that are important for life, as they include
enzymes, transcription factors and the various cell machinery. Indeed, without proteins, life may not
be a possibility.
Gene expression cannot be carried out without a nucleic acid sequence, also known as DNA in
humans. DNA is a double stranded molecule comprising of a sugar phosphate backbone and
nitrogenous bases. On a smaller scale, DNA is made up of complementary nucleotide sequences.

In eukaryotic cells, proteins known as transcription factors bind to promoters that include a TATA box
(a nucleotide sequence that contains TATA, 25 nucleotides upstream from the start of transcription).
Afterwhich, more transcription factors will bind to the DNA, together with RNA polymerase II,
forming the transcription initiation complex.
Subsequently, elongation occurs, the polymerase will move downstream, unwinding the DNA and
elongating the RNA transcript in the 5 to 3 direction. As RNA synthesis proceeds downstream, the
newly transcribed RNA molecule will detach itself from the DNA template, and the double helix
reforms. It is possible for a single gene to be transcribed by multiple molecules of RNA polymerases.
This increases the amount of RNA transcribed from it, enabling the cell to make the encoded protein
in large amounts.
The last and final step of transcription is termination. This process differs between prokaryotes and
eukaryotes. In prokaryotes, transcription will stop when a terminator sequence is transcribed, causing
the polymerase to detach from the DNA and release the transcript, which will be available for
immediate use as mRNA. In fact, translation of the mRNA strand sometimes occurs while
transcription is still taking place!
In eukaryotes, the pre mRNA is cleaved when the polymerase transcribes a sequence on the DNA
known as the polyadenylation signal, which codes for a polyadenylation signal (AAUAAA) in pre
MRNA. The pre MRNA is

The Plague Stages
In the first stage of the plague, everyone was confused but not really fazed by the rats found around
Oran. But, after a couple of weeks, unfortunately, these rats invading city streets and households
became the new normal. This beginning stage didn t last long though. Eventually stage two came into
play. A vicious fever started to spread throughout the city, making everyone start to get into a selfish
mindset. Everyone started to only trust themselves, trying to flee the city, which became a felony later
on in the story. The citizens also began to believe that God was behind all of this. That he was
punishing us for the sins we have committed. The plague was starting to destroy the lives of every
citizen in Oran. The Plague created a theme

The Bean Trees By Barbra Kingsolver
Everyone has someone they consider family. Sometimes people bond solely with their blood relatives,
but more often than not we choose who we consider to be our family as we grow older. This happens
most often when people find a spouse, but many also adopt children as their sons and daughters, peers
as their brothers and sisters, and role model figures as aunts and uncles. The Bean Trees is written by
Barbra Kingsolver and is set in the early 1980 s. It tells the story of a young woman named Taylor,
and the life she builds in Tucson Arizona. Far from home, she meets many great people and finds a
place where she belongs. Kingsolver shapes her message of the importance of families both blood and
found through her use of character archetypes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story Taylor grows very close to Estevan and Esperanza. Taylor now considers them
family and proves that by risking losing Turtle and persecution. Through Taylor s heroic action the
author is showing that your family is worth serious danger. Signatory to the United Nations something
something on human rights, Mattie was saying, and that we have a legal obligation to take in people
whose lives are in danger. (page 139 The Bean Trees, Kingsolver) In this quote Mattie is saying that
everyone has the obligation to take in and help people who are in danger. She believes that people who
need help should be helped, that the whole world is one big, interconnected family. Mattie is a mentor
figure who helps and guides people. A part of that is hiding refugees fleeing persecution and treating
them like family. Through Mattie s actions the author shows that everyone can be family and that they
are all human beings who should be treated as such. The characters build the family that is so
important to this story. Through their actions of helping other they further the message of the
importance of family both blood and found.
Kingsolver also uses archetypal symbols to develop her message with Jesus is Lord Used Tires
symbolizing a haven and a garden symbolizing growth and support. Jesus is Lord Used Tires is
represented as a haven because it used to hide illegal immigrants, is the first safe space Taylor finds in

Laughter In Felicidade Eterna
Laughter is something that breaks tensions, forms bonds between its victims, and can cheer up your
day. It has been scientifically proven that laughter sends rushes of dopamine (the brain s happy drug )
to the brain, in which results in you being in a better mood. Everyone is different; hence, everyone
will find their own definition of what is funny. Though, there are usually socially acceptable things to
laugh at and to not within a community. For example, in America, it is not socially acceptable to laugh
if you find out someone has died, or if someone is severely injured. First instinct is to cry, consult the
family, and have alone time. However, in Felicidade Eterna, their first instinct is to make it a positive
situation and laugh it

Bracero Program History
Mexican nationals have migrated across the border for short term agricultural work since the 19th
century. With a shortage of jobs, Mexican workers seek the promise of what the neighboring labor
market of the United States has to offer. At the same time, the U.S. economy is in need workers to
grow the economy and the history of U.S. relations with Mexico began as self sustaining system of
circular migration.
On August 4, 1942 the United States recocnized a need for a temporary intergovernmental agreement
to set the standards for Mexican agricultural labor (officially referred to as the Mexican Farm Labor
Program). The program lasted much longer than anticipated and in 1951, Congress formalized the
Bracero Program with Public Law 78. From 1942 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subject then became controversial when more Mexican nationals, desperate for work, were
willing to take on these backbreaking jobs at wages most Americans weren t willing to work for.
American farm workers had reason to be concerned that the braceros would be competing with them
for the same jobs but at lower wages. The original concept of the Bracero Program was to serve and
protect both Mexican and domestic workers. For example, Americans would receive at least the
minimum wage in the area of the current work; guaranteed employment for three fourths of the
contract period; adequate, sanitary, and free housing; food provided at a low cost; job insurance would
be at employer s expense; and free transportation back to Mexico was provided when the seasonal
contract was up (Bracero History Archive, 2017) . The agriculture employers were also only supposed
to hire braceros when there was high labor shortage, and were not to abuse the system. However,
employers ignored many of these regulations and Mexican workers were used as strikebreakers while
native workers were put out of a job. The only party who benefited from this injustice were the
growers because they got cheap labor. This imbalance went unchecked and as a result farm wages
dropped suddenly from the 1940s to the1950s, farm wages dropped sharply as a percentage of
manufacturing wages, a result in part of the use of braceros and undocumented laborers who lacked

Why Do I Love To Bake
I have always loved to bake, the first thing I ever made were rainbow cupcakes when I was in the 6th
grade. When I first started baking, I would always use a regular hand whisk, I never had the desire to
buy a fancy expensive electric mixer until one day I wanted to make a angel food cake for my mom s
birthday. I had made it once before in my homect class and I knew that an angel food cake with a
whipped cream topping needed a lot of air incorporated into it for it to rise. I also knew that if I tried
to beat the batter and the whipped cream by hand, I would probably get carpal tunnel. I decided to go
to Target and I came across the hamilton beach hand mixer. There were many different hand mixers by

Disney Fair Use
The first thing that should be done before anything else in this case, is the proper definition of fair use.
Merriam Webster s defines fair use as the following: a legal doctrine that portions of copyrighted
materials may be used without permission of the copyright owner provided the use is fair and
reasonable, does not substantially impair the value of the materials, and does not curtail the profits
reasonably expected by the owner. The U.S. Copyright office states that these are the activities that
can be claimed as fair use: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. So
to further analyze fair use, I shall share some observations. Fair use can be claimed if it does not
substantially impair the worth of the movies used in the video, or lose any money for disney. The
strategy can also be used if it is used in the context of criticizing, reporting, or providing commentary
on something. Teaching, research, and scholarship are also forms protected by copyright.
So first we will look at if Disney s profits are harmed, let s take a look at what disney is worth: Disney
currently has about 1.61 billion shares outstanding. With a share price of around $94 per share, that
puts Disney s market capitalization at roughly $150 billion. The Motley Fool. Looking at evidence ...

My First 13 Years Of My Life
For the first 13 years of my life I was the prototypical Christian child. I sat quietly in church listening
carefully to everything the pastor said, trying hard to follow the guidelines set by my family and the
bible, even if it was hard for me to believe what I was being told. Not even knowing what any of it
really meant, I went on following anything and everything my ears caught. Blinded by my own fears
of burning in a fiery pit for all eternity, I became very apprehensive about what I really wanted. Those
fears caused me to keep feelings in that I desperately wanted to let out. The only problem was I couldn

I eventually became very sad I thought I would never be able to live in peace if I was gay, but at the
same time it was killing me to keep my real self bottled up every minute of every day. It even got to a
point where I thought it would just be better if I was gone. Sometimes I would sit in my room on the
floor with a bottle of pills in my hand, contemplating whether or not I should take a hand full of them
and be done with it. Until one day I was tired of being sad and scared so I decided it was time for me
to make a change.
I went into my bathroom turned on the lights, stood in front of the mirror, looked myself on the eyes,
took a deep breath and said I m gay. I told myself there s no denying it, there s no changing it, there s
no hiding it and it s completely okay. After finally coming to terms with my sexuality I felt a lot better

shoulders. It was a small victory for me, but, I knew there was still more things I had to do. Over the
next few weeks, I slowly began to come out to friends and surprisingly was well received even by the
ones that were religious. I knew coming out to friends would be a lot different than coming out to my
parents so I hesitated and next thing I knew three years had gone by. I always wanted to tell them, but

The Death Of Andrea Yates Essay
A Texas mother named Andrea Yates was freed from prison for the violent murder of her five small
children including an infant by reason of insanity. She suffered from severe postpartum psychosis.
This form of psychosis can affect mothers after childbirth especially if they already are predisposed to
mental illness or depression. During this time a mother can loose her ability to make rational reality
based decisions. This is what happened to Andrea Yates and so many other mothers. How can one be
accused of a crime when their sanity is in question? Poor mother. If Andrea Yates can be forgiven for
her insanity of brutally killing her children, then can t Alison Quets be forgiven for only wanting to
love her children? Who is Alison Quets? She is a 49 year old single woman from Florida. Ms. Quets

premature babies alone. As a mother I know how tired you can become from the care of a newborn
infant. I couldn t imagine being single with newborn twins. After stating her body began to give out on

Analysis Of All Quiet On The Western Front By Eric Remarque
The novel All Quiet on the Western Front written by Eric Remarque is a powerful anti war novel. It is
about a young man of nineteen who fights in the German army at the western front. He is
accompanied by his friends and soon realise that war isn t glorious or honourable, and they live in
constant terror. Throughout the novel Remarque describes the physical and psychological horrors of
war as well as how they have become the lost generation and the question of who is the enemy. He
includes many writing techniques to describe each topic, especially the physical horrors of war.
Throughout the novel Remarque explains the physical horrors of war and the effect they have on
soldiers through the use of descriptive language. During the war these men were seen with their skulls
blown open, their two feet cut off, men without mouths, without jaws, without faces (Pg. 91). These
injuries are horrific and that no men should ever have to endure. Remarque also uses descriptive
language to describe these horrors. An example of imagery is taking his splinted arm (pg51); this
produces an image of his arm in our heads. Remarque is also very honest in his writing and gives us in
depth accounts of horror throughout. He uses brutal and graphic words as well. A good example of the
use of these types ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Curriculum Based Assessment
Curriculum based assessment (CBA) is an assessment process that links curriculum content with
assessment. The purposes for CBA is to cultivate effective lesson plans, evaluate students
development in the curriculum, and to determine eligibility (source 1). CBA helps teachers and other
professional specify instructional objectives. Due to direct links between instruction and assessment,
CBA is often used as a frequent measure to determine if changes should be made in curriculum or the

The Intersection Of Race And Sex
Intersectionality is defined by social categories, such as race and gender that have interconnected to
apply to individuals and groups, causing an overlap, which has consequently created a system of
discrimination and disadvantages (English Oxford Living Dictionary, 2016).
Kimberle Crenshaw coined the term in her article Demarginalizing the Intersection of Race and Sex: A
Black Feminist Critique of Antidiscrimination Doctrine, Feminist Theory and Anti racist Politics
(1889) whereby her main focus is on the intersection of race and sex. Crenshaw refers to
intersectionality as a crossroad to describe how multiple oppressions are experienced. In her article
she examines intersectionality through how the court interpret black women s stories. She uses the
case DeGrafffenreid V General Motors, whereby five black women (the Plaintiffs) accused the
employers of discriminating against black women, as they lost their jobs after 1970 due to a seniority
based layoff during recession. Nevertheless, the judge rejected the plaintiffs claim, as the court states
that they would of helped if it was an action for race or sex, but not a combination of both (Crenshaw,
1989, p.141). The example Crenshaw gives, identifies how multiple oppressions are experienced
within intersectionality. In October 2016 Crenshaw gave an empowering speech on how the media
only covers black male discrimination by the state, yet there are no stories about how black women
are discriminated by the state,

servant leadership for the successful run of the organisation, the servant leader should have the
characteristics such as listening, awareness, empathy, stewardship, commitment to the growth of

1. What is your assessment of the new process for managing priorities at Volkswagen of America? Are
the criticisms justified? Is it an improvement over the old process?
We believe that the new process for managing priorities was well structured and aligned with the
business goals but with few exceptions. Let s try to understand why?
VWoA laid out their five next round of growth goals (NRG) and built a business architecture with the
help of different organizational entities to manage priorities of different projects in order to implement
these goals. The ELT was given the primary responsibility along with ITSC, PMO, BPTO and DBC
playing important roles while selecting and prioritizing projects. The Digital Business Council was to
play the most challenging role here as it would work with different Business Unit managers in order to
select and prioritize projects, keeping in mind a way to categorize projects, assess their business
impact, aligning project with business goals and making tradeoff decisions. The process played out in
three phases initiated by PMO. Thus, this process is well structured and would help DBC to consider
different trade offs while selecting and prioritizing projects.
The only exception is that we would recommend to include members of VWG while drafting the goal
portfolios of the company so that certain projects that impacted on the global level could also be
funded. If they had included them, then

Tuckman s Stages Of Group Development
Tuckman s first stage of group development is forming, during this ice breaking stage, group members
tend to be uncertain and anxious about such things as their roles, who is in charge, and the group s
goals. (Kreitner Kinicki, 2013) Other characteristics of the forming stage may include low levels of
mutual trust, and possible hesitation in groups to see who will take the lead. (Kreitner Kinicki, 2013)
Team members in this stage often spend their time adjusting with their tasks, and with one another.
(Bonebright, 2010). It is important to note that the outcomes in this stage set the tone for success or
failure in a team, in the case of Group 3, the stage was set for a successful summit of Mt. Everest.
Group 3 came together for the Everest Simulation project by creating a team charter, and the group
began to show all the characteristics of being in the forming stage during the first few days of team
assignments. Micheal Wiest and Rollin Koons proved vital by spearheading the activity, outlining the
tasks that needed to be completed, while also suggesting and setting up conference calls as a means of
communicating past the discussion board. Though it is quite common in the forming stage for team
members to hesitate to take the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Group 3 was very upfront about their individual goals and how their profession could help the team
through the assent of Mount Everest. As the group entered the second week of the assignment, much
of the characteristics of the forming stage started to become more apparent. Group 3 had some issues
with time zones and had to adapt on the fly in order to come together to complete the assignment.
However, through communication and flexibility, the team was able to overcome the forming stage of

Petri Dish Lab
Post Lab Questions:
In which petri dish did you observe the highest hatching viability? Did the results support your
prediction in Pre Laboratory Question #2?
The petri dish with the highest hatching viability was the 1.0% dish. No, the results did not support my
prediction in the pre laboratory question #2. My prediction did not match the results because in the
1.5% petri dish it showed a lower hatching viability compared to the 1.0% petri dish. After, the results
came out it was proven that the best NaCl solution for the brine shrimp was the 1.0 petri dish because
it wasn t too concentrated and it wasnt too little.
Explain, in terms of natural selection, why one saline solution yielded the highest hatching viability of
brine shrimp.
Natural selection is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive
and produce more offspring. One saline solution yielded the highest hatching viability because only
one of the solutions was suitable for the brine shrimps and they were able to adapt to that place. The

One of the limitation was that the experiment was unable to simulate the effects of predation. In an
actual environment some of the brine shrimp eggs could have been eaten before they are able to hatch,
but since this was in a petri dish there was no such thing as predators that have reduced the hatching
viability of the brine shrimp eggs. Another, limitation was the exact amount of brine shrimps you
could brush up. This made the hatching viability to not be as accurate because there was different
amount of eggs to start with. If there was an equal amount of eggs to begin with the hatching viability
percentage would have been more accurate since they all started the same. These two limitations made
the experiment not as reasonable because it stopped what could have happen to these brine shrimps in
their actual

Who would have thought that one would hear about Mel Gibson again? The Braveheart actor has done
a Robert Downey Jr (disgraced actor making a successful comeback) and is expecting his NINTH (!!!)
child this year. If you were a so called millenial , you d consider Mel Gibson as a has been actor. But if
you were much older, you d know that Mel Gibson was once the best actor turned director that was.
He was the original Ben Affleck but with a slightly better acting chops. You are also someone aged if
you know that Mel Gibson started spiraling out of control when he divorced with his wife of 26 years,
had anti Semitic rants in public, had a turbulent relationship with a Russian singer and eventually sank

Sample Case Conceptualization Of Client
Conceptualization of Client
My client Kelsey has come back to counseling after twenty years. She briefly caught me up on her life
since the last time I saw her. Kelsey and Jin ended up adopting twin girls who they love dearly. Kelsey
decided to quit her job and become a full time stay at home mother, while Jin continued to work. She
is coming to counseling because Jin decided he was leaving the family. She knows there is no
possibility of working things out because he is dating his twenty six year old assistant. At the same
time Jin left her, her twins were moving away for college. Kelsey is now going through a divorce and
empty nest syndrome. Kelsey needs guidance in finding her new identity and learning how to live with
out her happy family. She is in search for direction and meaning in her new life (Laureate Education,
2013e).
Kelsey s Developmental Challenges ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is time Kelsey reevaluates herself and her life. Kelsey is faced with issues that must be successfully
addressed, in order for her to continue developing positively in older adulthood. Her experiences are
filled with challenges, victories, and defeats, which she will conquer through in counseling (Henning,
2011). Kelsey s first developmental challenge that needs to take priority in counseling is her lack of
identity. The roles Kelsey has been playing for years are gone, which is leaving her to feel vulnerable
and unidentified. The second challenge that will take priority in counseling is working through her
empty nest syndrome. When Kelsey s children moved away to college, she was left feeling sad and
once Jin left, the empty nest syndrome became more tragic. Being alone without her children and
husband makes stability questionable (Chen, Yang, Dale Aagard, 2012). Through counseling, Kelsey
will form reachable goals and learn interventions that will give her a sense of identity and confidence

Stopping By The Woods Essay
Composers utilise their respective works to convey various aspects of revelation. Exploration of self
and the wider world is a multifaceted component, manipulated to be found in all aspects of life.
Composers such as Robert Frost and David Wilkie incorporate these notions into their literary works.
Robert Frost dexterously composed the poems Stopping by the woods on a snowy evening and
Mending Wall to reflect the ambiguous nature of man s interpretive expeditions. Similarly, David
Wilkie adapts Titan s 16th century Supper at Emmaus to his 19th Century painting Christopher
Columbus at the convent of la Rabida to portray the ever relevant nature of expedition into the
unknown. Frost analyses metaphysical exploration as a supporting factor ... Show more content on

However, the lines retain a sense of echolalia, illustrating that the speaker s mind is transfixed in
metaphysical contemplation. Frost consequently draws connotations to humanity s constant battle
between lust for, and fear of, the unknown. Therefore, exploration into one s cognitive realm is
denoted as tempting but potentially dangerous. However, Frost portrays this experience with positive
overtones, describing the encounter as necessary. Frost inadvertently shows that through self
exploration, an individual can understand their worth. Therefore, self analysis generates a shaped
perception of an individual s civil necessity.
Individual citizenship expedites a greater comprehension of social mechanics. Civil machinations are
duly exposed when examined from multiple perspectives beginning with the individual. Frost alludes
to this notion in Mending wall by highlighting the varying opinions of man. The colloquial and and
But are used as multiple sentence starters, eliciting a familiar rapport. However, this is juxtaposed by
the allegorical walk the line that draws adverse connotations to society s influence on private thought.
Frost furthers this notion through the deplorative tonality when mentioning the motif of the wall .
Additionally, the archaic imagery of he moves in darkness continues the impression of a growing
antipathy. Frost employs these to showcase the disparity between the speaker s distaste for boundaries

On The Road
A lesson all musicians learn. It brings to mind Dawes line I think that some of us still belong out on
the road and Bob Dylan s quote about make a deal with the guy upstairs about touring a long time ago.
The evidence points to musicians and touring as not only a relationship but the only long term one
most ever have. Any person who has been in a long term relationship or read a book about one (I.e.
my current read Juliet, Naked) knows there are certain ups and downs that come with time. Jason s
lyric examines the downside of this relationship. Really, with a little more thought this is a downside
for even a two plus week vacation or a business trip. The road is exciting until you miss your bed and
desire to have more then one option of what to wear every morning. The difference for musicians is
that the road comes across different to them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that s just the romantic notion we put into films and naive people s heads. In reality the road to music

tour and cheat and the road ends up being just a cheap hotel with a lose groupie in it. That s what

Science Fiction And Humor In Andy Weir s Film, The Martian
The Martian is an action packed, thought provoking film that mixes science fiction and humor. The
realistic nature of the film makes it even more meaningful and thought inspiring, engaging the
audience throughout the journey.
When the film was first released in October 2015, people thought it would be another rendition of
Gravity, but its witty humor surprised everyone. The film is an adaptation of Andy Weir s novel The
Martian, published in 2011. The film is directed by Ridley Scott and produced by Mark Huffam.
NASA collaborated with both Weir after his novel was released, and with Scott and Huffam once the
production for the film began. They traded valuable information and pictures of Mars, as well as
ensuring that the events of the film were as realistically feasible as they could be. NASA saw this as a
great possibility to encourage and promote enthusiasm about space. ... Show more content on

  • 2. Fifth Business by Robertson Davies Boy Staunton, the antagonist in the novel Fifth Business by Robertson Davies, is a very successful business man. Boy Staunton is motivated by self distraction in life which he believes will rid himself of remorseful feelings. Although it may appear that he is living the dream, the guilt from traumatizing childhood events slowly torture and eventually destroy him. Boy s decision to commit suicide is greatly influenced by Mary Dempster, Leola Cruikshank and Dunstan Ramsay because they are constant reminders of his mistakes and failures. At the age of ten, Boy Staunton and his best friend Dunstan Ramsay, began to fight after a day of sledding. Boy accidentally hit a pregnant woman, named Mary Dempster, when Dunstan dodged his snowball and caused the woman to go into premature labour with her son, Paul. Dunny dealt with the guilt by supporting Mrs. Dempster whereas Boy ignored the whole situation completely. When Dunny brought up the snowball incident years later to Boy and Paul, Boy realizes that he is responsible and now has to deal with this guilt. When Paul said, You have no recollection of Mrs. Dempster? Boy responded with, None at all. Why should I? (Davies, 267) this quotation truly emphasizes how dismissive Boy is about the incident. Boy is motivated by self distraction so he does not let his faults linger and get in the way of his success. As a child, his parents contributed to his success by building up his confidence so events like this would not destroy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Boem Vs Beowulf BEOWULF: THE FILM (2007) VERSUS THE POEM The film version of Beowulf is more enjoyable than the translated portion of the epic poem, due to the eventful plot. In the beginning of the film Beowulf told of a graphic flashback of him battling sea monsters. This gives an effective understanding of how strong and courageous Beowulf is. This is not spoken of in the translated portion. Also, in the film Beowulf falsely claims that he killed Grendel s mother. This fabrication, told by Beowulf soon influences major events of the film that were not included in the poem. Lastly, conversations with Grendel s mother were included in the film. This provides the film more of an exhilarating climax that is not given in the translated portion. Essentially the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mixing humor with specific news stories provides an interesting message, depending on the audience. Last Week Tonight With John Oliver uses specific news segments and analyzes it through the use of extensive research and humor. This includes his segment on the New York Yankees, where he makes it very clear which position he is taking on the issue. This segment dives into the elitist practices of the Yankees organization, which include not allowing fans to print out tickets at home and opening the elite Legends Club with expensive premium seats. The winners of Oliver s ticket giveaway wore costumes like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, unicorns and sharks. When compared to the negative audience response toward Lonn Trost, the response toward John Oliver s offer is extremely positive, and resonates with the audience as a result. In order to make Oliver s use of pathos effective is to have effective uses of logos and ethos. However, Oliver relies more on logos than ethos in this segment. In each of his shows, Oliver backs up his claims by showing studies and news stories relating back to his argument. His segment on the New York Yankees is no different, as he uses a variety of different sources. For example, when explaining the Yankees elitist policies, Oliver shows a commercial for the New York Yankees Legends Club, which is for wealthy season ticket holders. By using this source, he backs up his claim on how elitist the Yankees are when compared to other sports teams. Oliver s use of the three artistic proofs was overall very effective and funny, which is especially important towards his audience. The show s media spectrum falls mainly on the Internet, where about 94% of Oliver s demographic watches his show, while the audience s top interests are entertainment, media, famous people and societal issues. When looking at audience demographics, John Oliver is generally doing an excellent job of using an argument to persuade his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ethanol reacts with chromic acid to produce ethanal, and the rate was measured using a spectrophotometer. Equation: 6 H3O(aq) + 3 CH3CH2OH(aq) + 2 H2CrO4(aq) → 3 CH3CHO(aq) + 2Cr2+(aq) + 14 H2O(l) Second Order Rate Law: Rate = k[ CH3CH2OH][H2CrO4] This second order reaction behaves like a pseudo first order reaction when one of the two concentrations is much greater than the other. In this experiment, the concentration of ethanol was so large compared to that of chromic acid that its change in concentration as the reaction occurred was negligible when compared to the that of chromic acid, thereby creating a pseudo first order reaction ... The third question is similar to the latter question where the length of the relationship is the factor reveal the connection between the male s rate and intensity of porn consumption with the relationship quality and sexual satisfaction in the relationship. The method of this study is an online survey of 308 participants, that was the final amount after the original sample of 330 that was reduced because of participants failure to meet the validity check. The final sample consisted of female college students in the age range of 18 to 29 years. Stewart and Szymanski suggest that this is the ideal population for the study because this is when people are exploring their sexuality and have more access to doing so in the college environment due to the absence of parental restrictions. However, the survey itself can create a response bias because there are students who are only doing this for a school credit or the chance to win a $100 raffle prize. Stewart ... I was inspired by the speech because, I do believe in God but I sometime forget that I am favored by God and I can do all things through him. I was reminded that God is my provider and not to stress about anything because with him everything will go right. What Mr.Knight said was a push for me to keep doing scholarships even though the only ones available are difficult to receive. I was also reminded who I am as a Christian and what I should be doing and what I should not be focused on. For over two centuries, persia and Greece have been waging war on one another. Although Persia and Greece gave men more power than women, both empires developed different social structures and unalike religious beliefs. Persia and Greece both have dissimilar social structures that consist of certain individuals. In early western Iran, the society was categorized into three social classes. The classes consisted of warriors, priests, and peasants. Warriors had the privilege in gardening, hunting, and fighting. The priest was in charge of supervising sacrifices. And the peasants or common people were farmers and shepherds. The Persian King had his groups of people as well. There were the son of Persian aristocrats, noblemen, the central administration, the king s bodyguard, and many servants/slaves. On the other hand, the Greeks had two societies: Athens and Sparta. Athens was divided into four classes. The top classes were allowed to hold state office while the lower class could not. Sparta was separated into three classes: Spartiate, perioeci, and helots. The Spartiate could participate in politics, serve the military, and run Sparta. The perioeci could own land, serve in the military, and they were in charge of Sparta s communication and trade. Deforestation tends to only benefit humankind, and seems to forget about the negative consequences to the environment. Instead of thinking about the future and how our actions have consequences, humans seem to only be thinking about their pocketbooks. For example, farming is one of the main reasons for deforestation. Three hundred million farmers use the slash and burn method for agriculture. Farming clears forests using the slash and burn method, which in turn provides a clear plot of land to grow crops for humans. Although it is good to provide food, the slash and burn method is very dangerous (Deforestation Facts and Statistics). The slash and burn method cuts down and burns off trees before the new seeds are sown to clear land to farm. In theory, the slash and burn method is supposed to give communities food and income. However, the negative results include erosion, decreased biodiversity, and nutrient loss. Arguably, the most significant adverse outcome involves the huge net increase in global carbon emissions that results from the slash and burn method. One solution to the slash and burn process involves chopping down selected trees that look weaker and saving the strong trees to produce offspring, which should assist with stabilizing the environment (Sitler, Ryan). • 21. Differences Between Google Chrome and Internet Explorer... Although Google Chrome and Internet Explorer are both web browsers that serve the same fundamental purpose, there are certain key differences that attract users to one or the other. The first and most obvious difference is the design of the actual browser. Google Chrome aims to be more of a lightweight browser, so it features a limited set of options under its preferences, a larger browser window, and the omnibar, which combines both the search functions and the web functions into one. This allows Google Chrome to be very simplistic and efficient in browsing. Internet explorer on the other hand does not have an omnibar, nor are the preferences as straightforward as Google Chrome, but it does allow the user to modify and tweak many more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major difference is the development of the actual browser. Internet Explorer is developed by Microsoft using a proprietary code, and as a result, any updates such as bug fixes, new features, or small modifications that are made on IE have to be released by Microsoft. Google Chrome on the other hand is a faster, open source browser that uses the open source WebKit code, and anyone who is able to write code will be able to submit a modified build to a forum (www.chromium.org) that Google monitors. Any new features that are built into the browser can then be selected by Google, and placed into the newest version of Google Chrome. To many people this makes Google Chrome a very desirable option because any bugs and additional features can be fixed or added on almost immediately. Although both browsers are constantly updated to deal with new security threats that are found on the internet the security of both browsers still varies. • 22. The Major Impact Of The Mexican-American War Introduction The conflict that started in 25th April 1846 up to 2nd February 1848 between America and Mexico was termed as the Mexican American War and had a significant to both nations. The reason for the commencement of the war was due to Manifest Destiny, a populist belief that Americans had a divine right to the land and so enjoyed the freedom to expand their borders towards the Pacific Ocean. The conflict, which was due to the exact position to place the border for each country affected mainly the natives. Although both countries actively participated in the war, there were individuals in America who were against it among them being Henry David Thoreau, an American writer and philosopher. Those against the war claimed that the United States actions in the war were unethical. Thesis: The close to two year long Mexican American war had a major impact to both countries as it affected the natives by redefining their rights and responsibilities when Mexico lost much of its land to the US. Factors That Led to and Progression of the War ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mexico protected itself through constant guerilla attacks on the American supply chains. After the fall of Mexico City, peace negotiations began when the Mexican government surrendered. On 2nd February 1848, there was signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo by Mexico bringing the war to an end (Cukwurah, 60). In the treaty, 525000 miles were added to the US territory as Mexico stopped its claim on Texas. Rio Grande became officially the US Mexico border while the US had to pay $15 million to Mexico. The treaty helped in stopping Mexican causalities that were increasing at an alarming rate. Whereas many Americans view the conflict as just war, many Mexicans feel that the war was an American invasion of their land. • 23. Gene expression is the process of protein formation.... Gene expression is the process of protein formation. Proteins are the molecules that are responsible for enabling us to live. They carry out majority of the processes that are important for life, as they include enzymes, transcription factors and the various cell machinery. Indeed, without proteins, life may not be a possibility. Gene expression cannot be carried out without a nucleic acid sequence, also known as DNA in humans. DNA is a double stranded molecule comprising of a sugar phosphate backbone and nitrogenous bases. On a smaller scale, DNA is made up of complementary nucleotide sequences. There are four different nucleotides: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) and thymine (T). Humans have approximately 3 billion of these base ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In eukaryotic cells, proteins known as transcription factors bind to promoters that include a TATA box (a nucleotide sequence that contains TATA, 25 nucleotides upstream from the start of transcription). Afterwhich, more transcription factors will bind to the DNA, together with RNA polymerase II, forming the transcription initiation complex. Subsequently, elongation occurs, the polymerase will move downstream, unwinding the DNA and elongating the RNA transcript in the 5 to 3 direction. As RNA synthesis proceeds downstream, the newly transcribed RNA molecule will detach itself from the DNA template, and the double helix reforms. It is possible for a single gene to be transcribed by multiple molecules of RNA polymerases. This increases the amount of RNA transcribed from it, enabling the cell to make the encoded protein in large amounts. The last and final step of transcription is termination. This process differs between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. In prokaryotes, transcription will stop when a terminator sequence is transcribed, causing the polymerase to detach from the DNA and release the transcript, which will be available for immediate use as mRNA. In fact, translation of the mRNA strand sometimes occurs while transcription is still taking place! In eukaryotes, the pre mRNA is cleaved when the polymerase transcribes a sequence on the DNA known as the polyadenylation signal, which codes for a polyadenylation signal (AAUAAA) in pre MRNA. The pre MRNA is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the same time, the U.S. economy is in need workers to grow the economy and the history of U.S. relations with Mexico began as self sustaining system of circular migration. On August 4, 1942 the United States recocnized a need for a temporary intergovernmental agreement to set the standards for Mexican agricultural labor (officially referred to as the Mexican Farm Labor Program). The subject then became controversial when more Mexican nationals, desperate for work, were willing to take on these backbreaking jobs at wages most Americans weren t willing to work for. American farm workers had reason to be concerned that the braceros would be competing with them for the same jobs but at lower wages. The original concept of the Bracero Program was to serve and protect both Mexican and domestic workers. For example, Americans would receive at least the minimum wage in the area of the current work; guaranteed employment for three fourths of the contract period; adequate, sanitary, and free housing; food provided at a low cost; job insurance would be at employer s expense; and free transportation back to Mexico was provided when the seasonal contract was up (Bracero History Archive, 2017) . The agriculture employers were also only supposed to hire braceros when there was high labor shortage, and were not to abuse the system. However, employers ignored many of these regulations and Mexican workers were used as strikebreakers while native workers were put out of a job. The only party who benefited from this injustice were the growers because they got cheap labor. This imbalance went unchecked and as a result farm wages dropped suddenly from the 1940s to the1950s, farm wages dropped sharply as a percentage of manufacturing wages, a result in part of the use of braceros and undocumented laborers who lacked full rights in American ... Merriam Webster s defines fair use as the following: a legal doctrine that portions of copyrighted materials may be used without permission of the copyright owner provided the use is fair and reasonable, does not substantially impair the value of the materials, and does not curtail the profits reasonably expected by the owner. The U.S. Copyright office states that these are the activities that can be claimed as fair use: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. So to further analyze fair use, I shall share some observations. Fair use can be claimed if it does not substantially impair the worth of the movies used in the video, or lose any money for disney. The strategy can also be used if it is used in the context of criticizing, reporting, or providing commentary on something. Teaching, research, and scholarship are also forms protected by copyright. So first we will look at if Disney s profits are harmed, let s take a look at what disney is worth: Disney currently has about 1.61 billion shares outstanding. The Intersection Of Race And Sex Intersectionality is defined by social categories, such as race and gender that have interconnected to apply to individuals and groups, causing an overlap, which has consequently created a system of discrimination and disadvantages (English Oxford Living Dictionary, 2016). Kimberle Crenshaw coined the term in her article Demarginalizing the Intersection of Race and Sex: A Black Feminist Critique of Antidiscrimination Doctrine, Feminist Theory and Anti racist Politics (1889) whereby her main focus is on the intersection of race and sex. Crenshaw refers to intersectionality as a crossroad to describe how multiple oppressions are experienced. In her article she examines intersectionality through how the court interpret black women s stories. She uses the case DeGrafffenreid V General Motors, whereby five black women (the Plaintiffs) accused the employers of discriminating against black women, as they lost their jobs after 1970 due to a seniority based layoff during recession. Nevertheless, the judge rejected the plaintiffs claim, as the court states that they would of helped if it was an action for race or sex, but not a combination of both (Crenshaw, 1989, p.141). The example Crenshaw gives, identifies how multiple oppressions are experienced within intersectionality. • 45. Volkswagen Of Americ Managing It Priorities Team 11 Volkswagen of AmericaManaging IT Priorities 1. What is your assessment of the new process for managing priorities at Volkswagen of America? Are the criticisms justified? Is it an improvement over the old process? We believe that the new process for managing priorities was well structured and aligned with the business goals but with few exceptions. Let s try to understand why? VWoA laid out their five next round of growth goals (NRG) and built a business architecture with the help of different organizational entities to manage priorities of different projects in order to implement these goals. The ELT was given the primary responsibility along with ITSC, PMO, BPTO and DBC playing important roles while selecting and prioritizing projects. The Digital Business Council was to play the most challenging role here as it would work with different Business Unit managers in order to select and prioritize projects, keeping in mind a way to categorize projects, assess their business impact, aligning project with business goals and making tradeoff decisions. The process played out in three phases initiated by PMO. Thus, this process is well structured and would help DBC to consider different trade offs while selecting and prioritizing projects. The only exception is that we would recommend to include members of VWG while drafting the goal portfolios of the company so that certain projects that impacted on the global level could also be funded. If they had included them, then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Tuckman s Stages Of Group Development Tuckman s first stage of group development is forming, during this ice breaking stage, group members tend to be uncertain and anxious about such things as their roles, who is in charge, and the group s goals. (Kreitner Kinicki, 2013) Other characteristics of the forming stage may include low levels of mutual trust, and possible hesitation in groups to see who will take the lead. (Kreitner Kinicki, 2013) Team members in this stage often spend their time adjusting with their tasks, and with one another. (Bonebright, 2010). It is important to note that the outcomes in this stage set the tone for success or failure in a team, in the case of Group 3, the stage was set for a successful summit of Mt. Everest. Group 3 came together for the Everest Simulation project by creating a team charter, and the group began to show all the characteristics of being in the forming stage during the first few days of team assignments. • 47. Petri Dish Lab Post Lab Questions: In which petri dish did you observe the highest hatching viability? Did the results support your prediction in Pre Laboratory Question #2? The petri dish with the highest hatching viability was the 1.0% dish. No, the results did not support my prediction in the pre laboratory question #2. My prediction did not match the results because in the 1.5% petri dish it showed a lower hatching viability compared to the 1.0% petri dish. After, the results came out it was proven that the best NaCl solution for the brine shrimp was the 1.0 petri dish because it wasn t too concentrated and it wasnt too little. Explain, in terms of natural selection, why one saline solution yielded the highest hatching viability of brine shrimp. Natural selection is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. One saline solution yielded the highest hatching viability because only one of the solutions was suitable for the brine shrimps and they were able to adapt to that place. The other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the limitation was that the experiment was unable to simulate the effects of predation. In an actual environment some of the brine shrimp eggs could have been eaten before they are able to hatch, but since this was in a petri dish there was no such thing as predators that have reduced the hatching viability of the brine shrimp eggs. Another, limitation was the exact amount of brine shrimps you could brush up. This made the hatching viability to not be as accurate because there was different amount of eggs to start with. If there was an equal amount of eggs to begin with the hatching viability percentage would have been more accurate since they all started the same. These two limitations made the experiment not as reasonable because it stopped what could have happen to these brine shrimps in their actual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Stopping By The Woods Essay Composers utilise their respective works to convey various aspects of revelation. Exploration of self and the wider world is a multifaceted component, manipulated to be found in all aspects of life. Composers such as Robert Frost and David Wilkie incorporate these notions into their literary works. Robert Frost dexterously composed the poems Stopping by the woods on a snowy evening and Mending Wall to reflect the ambiguous nature of man s interpretive expeditions. Similarly, David Wilkie adapts Titan s 16th century Supper at Emmaus to his 19th Century painting Christopher Columbus at the convent of la Rabida to portray the ever relevant nature of expedition into the unknown. Frost analyses metaphysical exploration as a supporting factor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the lines retain a sense of echolalia, illustrating that the speaker s mind is transfixed in metaphysical contemplation. Frost consequently draws connotations to humanity s constant battle between lust for, and fear of, the unknown. Therefore, exploration into one s cognitive realm is denoted as tempting but potentially dangerous. However, Frost portrays this experience with positive overtones, describing the encounter as necessary. Frost inadvertently shows that through self exploration, an individual can understand their worth. Therefore, self analysis generates a shaped perception of an individual s civil necessity. Individual citizenship expedites a greater comprehension of social mechanics. Civil machinations are duly exposed when examined from multiple perspectives beginning with the individual. Frost alludes to this notion in Mending wall by highlighting the varying opinions of man. The colloquial and and But are used as multiple sentence starters, eliciting a familiar rapport. However, this is juxtaposed by the allegorical walk the line that draws adverse connotations to society s influence on private thought. Frost furthers this notion through the deplorative tonality when mentioning the motif of the wall . Additionally, the archaic imagery of he moves in darkness continues the impression of a growing antipathy. Frost employs these to showcase the disparity between the speaker s distaste for boundaries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jason s lyric examines the downside of this relationship. Really, with a little more thought this is a downside for even a two plus week vacation or a business trip.
