The Social Determinants Of Health Insurance And Quality...
Healthcare inequality mainly revolves around the disparity in the quality of health and health services
among different population groups in the society. It touches on the accessibility of health insurance
and thus the accessibility of quality healthcare services among the different population groups. There
disparities in the access to quality healthcare among the different races and ethnicities, social classes
and between the two genders. These disparities are mainly influenced by and are reflective of the
differences in access to health insurance among these population groups. These disparities ultimately
lead to similar disparities in healthcare services access, health outcomes and the presence of disease
among these different population groups. There are several factors that influence access to health
insurance and quality health services, referred to as determinants of health among the populations.
There are cultural, environmental social and economic determinants to health which create an unfair
playing ground for the different population groups in American society. This paper examines the
social determinants to health, the extent to which they affect access to health insurance and quality
healthcare and ways in which they can be reversed to enable equal access to health insurance and
health care services among these populations. The issue of disparities in access to health insurance and
by extension access to quality healthcare services is important because it affects

Why Research Is Important Essay
Asking me why research is important is like asking me why breathing is important or why is walking
important. For me, it is a fundamental way of life. Okay, maybe not as fundamental as oxygen, but it
is way up there. Research is important because it can satisfies our thirst in discovery and make deeper
understanding about particular material. A research could give us a confidence booster when complete
it. Research is effected our life. Try to think what research have done so far. We know lot of things
because of research. People do research because they want to know something new and solve a
problem. Research which is the foundation for knowledge that makes possible so much of the

Language used in communication among the speaker with the hearer. Trough language an idea,
opinion, feeling, critics and some supports can be expressed. Oka (in Suyono, 1990:45) state that to
express the feeling, idea, opinion, critics, and suggestion is a basic means of language. With language
the people can express their idea, opinion and also doing a good communication. When the people
want to share their idea, feeling, opinion or doing some speech they should use language correctly. In
doing a good conversation we should intend the utterance clearly to the hearer and also the hearer

basic assumptions we must make for successful communication to take place in that both people in a
conversation are cooperating, it is conveyed by the philosopher, Paul Grace. Not all of the people
willing to doing cooperative conversation because of some factor, one of them wants to be polite or
even unwillingness in doing a good conversation. Furthermore we often listen the utterance have a

Mississippi River Symbolism Essay
Symbolism, by definition is the use of symbols to represent ideas and qualities. Arguably one of the
most powerful literary techniques, symbolism aids to create a sense of understanding and awakens a
forthright emotion in the mind of the reader. The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the novel I have
chosen to read the use of symbolism is made common by the author, Mark Twain. Though there is
more than one, the most critical and influential symbolism is the Mississippi river. Opposing the river
is the pendulum. In the short story, the pit and the pendulum, a horror fiction by Edgar Allen Poe, the
pendulum plays a significant part and is a key element of its plot. Contrasting the symbolisms of these
classic literature works will illuminate their respective strengths and weaknesses. ... Show more

It is their best choice of transportation as it helps them be unobtrusive. The river also protects them as
there is a reward of $300 for Jim, the slave who used to work for the widow. Rivers are generally
considered to be placid and to have a sense of tranquility. These characteristics, in a figurative aspect
are similar to that of hope. In Greek mythology hope was the last thing that came out of Pandora s
Box, the one thing that would help mankind cope with all the evil in the world. Likewise the
Mississippi river is a symbol of hope that helps Huck and Jim on their onerous and bizarre adventure.
Huck is hoping he will escape his abusive father, the widow s efforts to sivilize him, but most
importantly he seeks an adventure made apparent with the title itself. For Jim it is hope, that one day
he will free his family from slavery that pushes him on. Both Jim and Huck knowingly or
unknowingly, depend on the river. The bottom line is that Twain uses the Mississippi river to
symbolize the great hope that resides in the main characters, thus elevating the reader s outlook
towards the

Human Genetic Engineering Essay
Genetic engineering is a practice commonly used in food to produce yields of superior size or quality.
Recently this technology has been tested on humans. The human race will now be able to improve
upon itself and their offspring. With this technology disease can be disposed of and normal people can
become better than average. Not all technology needs to be utilized. Genetic engineering that should
not be used in humans unless done to prevent or treat disease until it is fully understood since the
consequences are undetermined and potentially devastating. Human genetic engineering, HGE, is a
new technology been incorporated into modern science where the genes or more specifically DNA are
manipulated within a living person or zygote. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Preventing sickness is not wrong. The issue occurs when one tries to, as Sandel claims, reach beyond
health or above the norm ( The Case Against ). Pills and other devices have done this. For example,
David King, a professor at Harvard, recollects when human growth hormone was marketed towards
people with hormone deficiencies. Now it is prescribed to normal short children (39). Surgery was
also originally used for medical uses, but cosmetic surgery is now its own field. When HGE becomes
affordable and safe the public will find use.
Clapper explains germline changes the genes in eggs or sperm ( Human Genetic ). This will modify
any future children. Mitochondrial transfer, a form of germline engineering, is now possible allowing
for three genetically linked parents to a child. Wynne Parry, LiveScience contributor, describes that it
replaces faulty mitochondria with healthy ones from a third party ( Designing Life ) riding the child of
mitochondrial diseases from the mother due to old age during pregnancy.
Germline engineering will satisfy few people who have infertility and do not want to use other
methods. Parents can have the same bond between another being without conceiving a child. There is
adoption, but some do not do this since the child will not be genetically linked to them. Clapper
mentions that gamete and embryo donation, or pre implantation diagnosis and selection can be used (
Human Genetic ). The latter allows for both parents to be related

Personal Narrative-Home In High School
The Lab The cool, brisk wind blew against the two story, brick walled office and, the smell of Fall,
containing the smell of orange, ripe pumpkin, surrounded the air. Dry, Fall colored leaves from the
two hazel birch trees, rooted in the front lawn, funneled down to the lower, empty parking lot of the

into our Dad s black Infiniti. My tall, brown haired Dad would drive us to his lab. His dental office,
Ordont, housed the activities of creating dental appliances, ranging from invisible retainers to braces
and resided off Smizer Station road in Fenton, Missouri. When we reached the parking lot, Annie and
I would leap out of the car and skip down the cracked cement path to the wooden, chestnut door,
waiting for our Dad to unlock the entrance. When we reached the door, Annie and I were greeted by

put the scanning in the machine. Then the machine would turn from a soft, low hum into a loud, rough

Fan Identity
One of the main points of discussion is the idea of the fanatic itself and how fandom is an accepted
mode of obsession in the contemporary world. Much of the discourse on the subject deals with the
complex psychology of the word through anthropological and psychoanalytical work on what it means
to be a fan the mixture of reverence for their object of affection, but also the embarrassment of being
associated with what some might deem as crazy or superficial. The definition of fan has altered over
time, with it becoming increasingly negative. Many fans even shy away from calling themselves that,
or separate their fandom identity (often found online) with their real life identity. While much has
been written in the beginning of fandom

Graphic Incognito Analysis
According to article Graphic Incognito , writer Mark Owens says that modernism exported to America
through Bauhaus, which was a European movement that came around World War 2. The movement in
America took shape in the 1980s with the influence of a new cultural era that was personified in
different mediums, especially in music. He argues that certain modernist design tactics were adopted
by suburban kids raised during the Reagan era in the early 1980s that were in the post punk, hardcore,
underground music scene. First of all, he begins his essay with a quote from Paul Rand about how
timeless principles were the only hope to achieve a style of quality in one s work. In this essay, Mark
Owens collocate the theoretical principals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

underground music and culture. Moreover, Mark Owens indicate that the punk band which is Black

The Idea of Terrorism
The world changed on September 11, 2001 when hijackers from a group called Al Qaeda sent planes
into New York City s Twin Towers and the Pentagon in Washington DC. In total, 3,000 people died,
the majority citizens and not all from the United States, but at least 90 countries. Responding to this
act was a global War on Terrorism, which resulted in an invasion of Afghanistan, the U.S. Patriot Act,
and several civil and social changes in American society. More than anything else, though, U.S.
security policy came under intense scrutiny and a new Cabinet Level Department was formed,
Homeland Security. Congress also reacted by authorizing the use of military force against any
individual, group, or State that participated or had any relation to the 9/11 attacks. The changes made
to the American security system because of 9/11 were vast, and affected citizens at home and abroad,
with certain groups fearful that civil liberties were now less important than security. In fact, the Patriot
Act provides governmental agencies with extraordinary legal means to conduct surveillance from the
Internet, emails, telephones, and other communication devices; to search and gather data, perform
analysis, and act without a Court warrant if there is a threat present. The technology known as
carnivore is an example of this. Carnivore sifts through millions of emails and electronic
communications to find keywords that might indicate potential terrorist threats. This also allows

Law School Scandal

I would like to take this opportunity to respectfully make the Admissions Committee aware of the
extenuating circumstances surrounding my academic dismissal from New York Law School.
I was granted admission to New York Law School in the fall of 2012. Unfortunately, I was
academically dismissed from NYLS for academic deficiency after my first semester. Life events
beyond my control adversely affected my overall academic performance. In the months following my

I resumed my legal education at Florida A M University College of Law, but sadly disaster struck
again. I, once again, was dismissed from law school after my first semester. This time, my mother s
health had nothing to do with my dismissal from law school. A different type of life event, a case of
infidelity, adversely affected my overall academic performance. As a man who is a true gentleman, I
will not provide much context or detail about the nature of the infidelity. I relocated to Florida along
with my ex fiancée. Apparently, she became enamored with another man who lived in the same
complex building we lived in. I found out of her unfaithfulness days before review session week. One
afternoon, I decided not to remain in the law library, as accustomed, and go home early to study; and
the worst case scenario, you can imagine, occurred. Words cannot express what I felt when I
discovered my ex fiancée with her lover in my apartment. This experience was perhaps one of, if not,
the most excruciatingly painful experiences I have ever endured. After this event, which happened
days before review session week commenced, I was not able to remain focused enough to continue
with my studies; and did not function the way I wanted to. Frankly, I was in an absent minded state,
my mind was filled with multiple thoughts, doubts, and questions, I was emotionally distraught and
dealt with a variety of emotions ranging from grief, insecurity, and embarrassment to guilt; and instead
of focusing on my studies I became more concerned with trying to figure out what had gone wrong in
my relationship. As a result, I missed classes, group study meetings, and review sessions prior to
finals; and consequently, I underperformed and paid the price, as I was academically dismissed from
FAMU College of Law at the end of the semester. Believe you me, I am not the

How Facebook Marketing Is Violating Consumer Privacy Essay
How Facebook Marketing is Violating Consumer Privacy
The marketing industry is an elaborate network that links companies to their consumers, primarily
through written communication. The main objective of marketing is to identify trends and patterns in
consumer behavior, and utilize the data to influence consumers to purchase more goods. From a
macroenviroment standpoint, the general conditions of a market are heavily dependent on global
environmental factors. The most significant factor that influences the markets today is technological
advancements. Since the release of Facebook, Linked in, Twitter, and Myspace in the early 2000s, the
number of people using social media has increased to over sixty five percent. The ever growing
dependency on social media platforms, has given marketers the tremendous opportunity to further
market potential consumers. Social media marketing is a specific form of marketing that focuses on
producing ad content that social media users will post on their own networks. This particular
marketing technique is effective because ads and content are created, based on what personal
information users post on social media. Firms and organizations that advertise their brands on social
media are more likely to increase their customer base and annual revenue. By doing so, companies are
able to increase exposure of their brand and widen previous hidden, customer bases. As a marketer,
the fine line between right and wrong is often blurred. The amount and

The Four Functions Of Management
Group Summary
Group 4 (Gerwyn Pascual, Mary Jo Morgan, Greg Palmer, Wesley Quash, Michael Royster)
Liberty University
Introduction
Managers are integral to the success of an organization because they are responsible for using both
human and other resources to achieve goals effectively and efficiently. (Satterlee, 2013). This paper
combines the three concepts that Group 4 have considered most important. It primarily highlights the
four functions of management; planning, leading, organizing, and controlling. Secondly, it discusses
the characteristics of a successful manager. Finally, relates the necessary skills for a competent
manager; technical skills, human skills, and conceptual skills.
Group Consensus
The first of the three most important concepts are the Four Functions of Management. Under this
concept the four functions of management contain four objectives which are leading, planning,
organizing and controlling. Under leading, leading deals with motivating employees, directing the
activities of subordinates, and selecting the most effective forms of communicating across all levels of
an organization. Leading also entails resolving conflict. (Saterlee, p.4, 2013). Leaders and leading
require skills that some people can be born with while others will have to learn throughout careers
they go through. Under planning, an organization can use this concept because planning is the
development of goals, which lead to the development of an overall strategy for achieving

The Canon
The Formation of the Canon, 5 6 page paper. Thus far we have come to a closing about the date and
source of the individual books of the New Testament, but another questions remains unanswered. We
can ask ourselves, how did the New Testament itself come into being? Who collected the writings and
on what ideology? What conditions led to the creations of a canon, of trustworthy books? Throughout
history Christian s belief is that the Holy Spirit, who controlled the writing of the individual books,
also controlled their selection and compilation, thus continuing to fulfill our Lord s promise that He
would guide his disciples into all reality. This however, is something that is to be discerned by
spiritual insight, and not by historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If any man obeyed not our word by this epistle, says Paul to one church (II Thessalonians 3: 14), note
that man, that ye have company with him. To another he makes it the test of a Spirit led man to
recognize that what he was writing to them was the commandments of the Lord (Cor 14:37).
Inevitably, such writing were received by the infant churches as of quality equal to that of the old
Bible ; placed alongside of it older books as an additional part of the one law of God; and read as such
in their meetings for worship a practice which moreover was required by the apostles (I Thessalonians
v. 27; col. 4:16; Rev. 1:3). In apprehension, therefore, of the earliest churches, the Scriptures were not
a closed but an increasing canon. Such they had been from the beginning, as they gradually grew in
number from Moses to Malachi; and such they were to continue as long as there should remain among
the churches men of God who spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. We read of the first
Christian text that did not become canonized but was respected as authentic is the first epistle of
Clement of Rome, reasonably dated to 95 A.D. (M 40), and contained in many ancient Bibles and
frequently read and regarded as scripture in many churches (M 187 8). This is relevant because even at
this late date two things are observed: Clement never refers to any Gospel,

Structural Family Theory Literature Rev Essays
Structural Family Theory Literature Review
Structural family theory is a technique employed by social scientists that offers perspectives and
tactics that strengthen and examine the familial unit (Walsh, 2014). Developed by Salvador Minuchin,
structural family theory looks at the unspoken rules within a family and how they affect the
organization of the unit. It is the job of the social worker to accurately identify the patterns, presented
rules, and their effect on the family. Structural family theory encompasses many concepts; a few of
them being, subsystems, boundaries, and rules. Subsystems refers to the functional, normal
interactions and alliances between two or more members within a family system (Walsh, ... Show

It is important that there be a clear parent child role distinction during the divorce process for the
adolescent. Secondly, adaptability refers to a dimension of family flexibility in which the extremes are
characterized by chaos and rigidity (Abelsohn, 1991). According to the authors, it is important that the
parents create a new family structure similar to the preexisting structure to eliminate culture shock or
discourage adaptability. Though this may not be an option, it is important to the adolescent s
adjustment health that the transition from one family structure be as seamless as possible. Lastly,
generational hierarchy implies that the family is a hierarchical, non democratic organization
(Adelsohn, 1991). Along with these three factors, the authors identified that adolescents who
underwent therapy post separation were better adjusted than those who did not receive treatment.
Utilizing Structural Family Therapy and Systems Theory in the Business World Similar to a family
unit, businesses operate and function off of a balance of subsystems, rules, and authority. All
organizations, at their foundation, mirror the structure and culture of a family system. Relative to the

Many different variables play a part in finding a solution to help end child labor. Unfortunately, this
form of labor plays a large role in Mexico s economy. Although the country has anti child labor laws,
the children of Mexico are forced to work for a variety of reasons. Most families force the children to
work due to their struggle with poverty and lack of income. Although some organizations (like the
North American Free Trade Agreement) look at solutions to help boost Mexico s economy, large
international corporations enter the country s struggling economy capitalizing on it s low cost
manufacturing and wages, thus forcing children to work. Solutions must be looked at in order to stop
kids from working their childhood away instead of getting an education to ultimately help Mexico s
economy.
The link between Mexico and poverty is a large reason why children are forced to work in factories.
Poverty began to be an issue for Mexico starting many years ago. In the 1940s, when industrialization
began taking place, Mexico s economy was growing at a rate of 6 per cent per year (Latapi and
Gonzalez). This increase in the economy created two new social classes: the urban middle class and
the new working class. By the late 70s, at least half of the working middle class held jobs related in
manufacturing (Latapi and Gonzalez). This employment gave wages high enough to allow one worker

Analysis Of The Book The Devil

THE DEVIL IS IN THE SUBJECTIVELY OBJECTIVE DETAILS
When The Devil Went Down to Georgia looking to steal a soul, I found that I preferred the fancy
fiddle playing of Satan over the more mundane instrumental performed by Johnny! While considered
an unpardonable sin in Southern circles, this unabashedly conceited and conceded musical bias on my
part is my first consciously remembered lesson in subjectivity. Although unquestionably ruining the
general narrative of the song by the Charlie Daniels Band, give the golden fiddle playing Devil his

And similar to one s musical preferences, taste in all its forms is a subjective choice and doubly so
with hors d œuvres. Nevertheless, my grape leaf, flat bread, and tabouli salad devouring Father
nonetheless married my Mother, even after learning of her Polynesian palate s predilection for fresh
fish eyes, sea cucumber intestines, and sea urchin roe. Moreover, to continue feeding her insatiable
seafood habit, he regularly and repeatedly dove deep, down to the ocean s black sandy fickle bottom,
to retrieve for her bêche de mer and sharp spined sea urchin all the while vainly eyeballing her
shapely, round okole! As a Lebanese American, the culturally dominant American side of my Father
pronounces these tempting cutlery free treats Horsey Derves. Whereas the more aesthetically sensitive
Lebanese half calls them moqabbelat or (‫)مقبالت‬, an Arabic term meaning: things which make one

unabridged consequences and repercussions of marrying a Tongan or she of marrying a Palangi, just

Pair Of Jordan Personal Narrative
First Pair Of Jordan s I was in California and it was during Christmas vacation. I was really confused
on what I wanted for Christmas, so every day I would go online looking for things to buy. When the
days progressed, I started seeing people with lavish shoes and clothes. I really wasn t a big shoe
person but something about shoes I saw caught my attention. My mom would ask here and there what
I would like for Christmas, but I would answer with a shrug of my shoulders. My brother would give
me suggestions on gifts but I would eventually turn them down. But as time went by, I would go
walking around shops until I stood in front of a store named Flight Club. The doors were opened and
the music was blasting from their speaker that you could probably hear from a mile away. I was

things I could get with that kind of money made me doubt my choice. While I was typing my mom

those shoes, I can tell when you picked that pair up and looked at it. , she said I do want it, but the
price is really expensive and I could buy other things with that money, I replied She sighed and told
me that she was willing to buy it for me and that was my only gift. I went quiet and finally smiled to

Construction Structure Essay
Having classified the site and selected the footing and wall types based on the topography and house

Impacts of Climate Change on Australia Alps’ Ski Industry
The changing nature of snow cover as a result of alpine climate change is a modern phenomenon that
climate scientists are beginning to understand. Declining snow depth and duration have serious
implications for Australia s ski industry, in particular the longevity of the industry. This essay
discusses the impacts of alpine climate change on snow cover, adaption strategies to sustain the
industry s economy as well as the unsustainable nature of snowmaking as a long term solution.
Limitations on water and energy resource make snowmaking problematic as a substitute for natural
snow. The essay highlights the unsustainability of snowmaking as a short term solution, and raises
concerns of the longevity of the ski industry.
Currently, the Australian ski industry comprises of ten operational ski resorts (Figure 1) with 0.15% of
the continent (Green and Pickering 2009, p. 271) regularly receiving snow due to the low attitude of
mountains. Consequently, decline in snow cover on top of limited snow availability pose significant
difficulties to the longevity of the ski industry.
Effects of Climate Change Impact on ski industry Possible solutions
Decreased snow cover ↓ snow depth and duration ↑ snowmaking to substitute natural with artificial
snow
Temperature ↓ snow cover cascading cycle
Biodiversity vegetation Affects winter summer tourism Opportunity for summer tourism
Water scarcity ↓ efficiency of snowmaking;

Essay Finding Meaning in The Turn of The Screw, by Henry...
At first glance, Bly appears to be a rather lonely place. The vividly bleak backdrop for The Turn of the
Screw houses a handful of servants, two orphaned children, and ghosts who fade in and out of view.
But there are others present who are less obtrusive yet just as influential as Peter Quint and Miss
Jessel. Peering into and out of Bly s windows and mirrors, engaging with the text and the lingering
trace of author Henry James, a crowd of real and virtual readers hope to catch a glimpse of a specter or
to unravel a clever Freudian slipknot that will tell them something: They may be looking for that
which they think James intended as the text s truth a transcendental center or maybe they
subconsciously wish to see a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lustig asserts that James s story uses its blanks to undermine all attempts to establish relations and to
join references into a coherent pattern (255). This coherent pattern is what the New Critics believe a
text s essential organizing principle to be, and that it is present in the text whether a reader notices it or
not. For formalists, a text s essential effect lies in the text alone and is completely independent of a
reader s response to elements that create effect in him. Likewise, Lustig s precise analysis of form and
subsequent deconstructionist reading of The Turn of the Screw does not mention what a possible
reader s process might be when faced with the twists of Bly. But for whom is the effect valuable, if not
the reader?
As Iser explains in The Reading Process, readers situate themselves within their responses, in effect
awakening [the] responses within himself (51). He further argues that if a reader were given the whole
story...his imagination would never enter the field, and yield nothing but boredom (51). To Iser, the
life of the text depends on a reader s participation in formulating his own response. More importantly,
Iser touts the unwritten parts, (gaps and ambiguities) of a text to stimulate the imagination, a process
that animates these outlines, and in turn...influence the effect of the written part... (50 51). Iser and
other phenomenological reader response critics depend utterly upon the reader

I know y all. Let me ease that curiosity. While some were repelled by the romance in The Bone
Season, I rather enjoyed it. Because it employed the whole antagonism to lust and lastly, to care (that s
right kiddos, I won t say love. I didn t think it was love by any means. Not the whole crazy let me
throw myself in front of a train even though, hey ho, I lived millenniums without knowing you.)
Warden is a mysterious figure. With semi questionable intentions, which were, I suppose, good at
heart (hey now, I m not justifying anything that he s done). He s not a good man. Far from it. He
watched as his race kidnapped and enslaved humans. He was passive throughout, bidding his time. He
didn t agree with the methods, with the radicalism, but he wasn t an active saviour. Warden sees the
bigger picture. He wants liberation for all. He wants that unattainable greater good, the idealistic
vision. And he s not afraid to sacrifice a few lambs here and there on his way there. They re a means to
an end. But Paige kind of completes him. I won t say change because she doesn t, not really. But
having Paige there has meant that Warden s widened his horizons, learnt to see the glass both ways
half empty and full. And that s all you can ask for, really. So the romance in The Mime Order? It had

so pumped with lust but also inclusive of care. There s an

The Performance Of Classical Music

Characteristics Of Organized Crime
In the early 20th century, millions of Italians came to the United States as poor immigrants. Many of
these immigrants found their new home in New York City, New York. Thus began the formation of the
renowned New York Mafia. Defining characteristics of the New York Mafia give insight into the
formation, intention, and conservation thereof. A couple of sociological theories can be used to
describe the propagation of one of America s most renowned organized crime syndicates.
With many organized crime syndicates, it can be difficult to discern one from another. The New York
Mafia has characteristics reflective of organized crime in general, as well as characteristics that

Richard Scott describes this structure as Natural System , where members share a common interest in
the survival of the system but are not necessarily guided by the organization s goals. The organized
crime unit is more than an instrument for attaining defined goals; it is fundamentally a social group
attempting to adapt and survive in a dangerous environment (Abadinsky 2016:46). Each member of
the Mafia, called a Made Guy , is independent in that he does not receive a salary from the group.
Basically, each member is a franchise manager, who engages in criminal activity with the support and
protection of the Mafia.
When the Italians came to the United States in the late 1900 s, the economy was molded by the likes
of the Rockefellers, the Astors, and the Vanderbilts. This economical formation created limited
opportunities for the middle and, especially, the lower classes. The socioeconomic disadvantage
established upon the Italian immigrants leads many to seek success via illegal means. This criminal
behavior was exacerbated by the [reproduction of] the kind of illegal groups they had belonged to in
the old country (Abadinsky 2016:43). The New York Mafia s formation was likely twofold: illegal
behavior was vital to any semblance of financial success for the Italian immigrants, and the
immigrants were replicating the same kind of criminal groups that they were familiar with back in
Italy. The former can be tied to the Strain Theory. There is

Ohio s Strongest Economic Industry
Ohio s strongest economic industry is Agribusiness. Through agriculture, Ohio farmers have rooted a
connection throughout the globe in feeding and supplying resources needed in life each day. Since the
1800 s native Ohioans have relied on agriculture not only for a source of nourishment but as a means
of making a living. Ohio s original settlers, the Native Americans, supported themselves through
farming. The Indians grew corn, beans, squash, pumpkins, multi colored Indian corn, numerous
varieties of beans, including kidney beans, navy and pea beans, pinto beans, great northern marrow
beans, and yellow eye beans. Ohio Indians grew many other vegetables, including turnips, cabbage,
parsnips, sweet potatoes, yams, and onions and leeks (Agriculture and Farming in Ohio). The
Europeans introduced the watermelon and muskmelon into North America in the seventeenth century,
and Indians in the interior were growing these fruits within a few years (Agriculture and Farming in
Ohio). Today, there are more than seven billion people roaming earth and each and everyone, have
since the beginning of time shared one thing in common; a need for food and nutrition for survival.
Ohio is a state based on agriculture and Ohioans can be thankful for that. Agriculture is Ohio s top

Rhetorical Analysis Of Tears We Cannot Stop By Dyson
Tears. They are almost a uniquely human experience, one that exists alongside only the most human of
emotions: elation and heartbreak. They exist as a sign of utter, almost infantile vulnerability, yet
possess the power to upheave humanity. It s no coincidence that acclaimed author Michael Eric Dyson
chose the name Tears We Cannot Stop. Such a name accurately represents the emotional tidal wave
that is his novel. Throughout the course of his sermon, Dyson works to weave moving personal
narrative with sincere tone to create an emotionally convincing piece. This essay s purpose is to
analyze Dyson s recognition and identification of his audience, his tone used to communicate his
thoughts to that audience, and his overall application of pathos in connecting with that audience. ...

Defining the audience is particularly important when discussing the effectiveness of Dyson s pathos.
Dyson effectively establishes his target audience during the call to worship at the beginning of the
text: I offer this sermon to you, my dear white friends, my beloved comrades of faith and country
(p.7). Dyson s message is, in particular, one for white Christians in America. Thus, the assumptions
Dyson makes toward his audience are a Christian ethic, an awareness of American history and current
events, and a generalized white ethnic upbringing. Dyson has essentially set his demographic, which
allows him to better focus his arguments to suit his target audience. However, now that he has done
this, he also has the responsibility to not misrepresent those to which he is

Against Gay Marriage
So many people in America and around the world are against Gay Marriage and Gay Rights in
general. Why can t the LGBT community feel comfortable with who they are? Also, why can t people
around the world be happy for them? Why is being gay wrong if it s something that makes that person
happy? It upsets me how much cruelty there is around us, especially with people who want to love
others of the same gender as them. Honestly if someone is a part of the LGBT community it is
perfectly fine in my opinion. If you judge a person for being themselves before getting to know them

all consenting adults who want to commit to a life partner ought to be treated the same way. (John

Anthem Individuality Essay
Individuality in Anthem
Ceaseless collectivism is not something that can be forced upon a community. Ayn Rand s novel
Anthem conveys this through the writings of Equality 7 2125, a man willing to stand up to the
collectivism of the society he is confined to. Anthem not only shows how dull and lifeless a society
can be with a lack of individuality in its people, but also reveals how one person can significantly
impact a community. This novel displays the importance of individualism through Equality s thoughts

5000, above all. While sweeping the streets, Equality takes notice of a woman working in the fields.
He is instantly intrigued by her and thinks of her over all others. Equality s attitude is significantly
changed by his interactions with Liberty. We do not know why we think of them. We do not know
why, when we think of them, we feel of a sudden that earth is good and that it is not a burden to live
(Rand 41). Individualism is shown when Equality chooses to favor Liberty. Equality looked at her,
even though there were other women in the field that day. He chooses Liberty above all the woman.
Equallity shows a preference in only her, which shows individuality. To add, Equality is becoming
more unruly and disobiedient by continuing to break rules. The crimes he comits involve talking to
woman of other Trades, looking upon woman, and the Transgression of Preference, which is to prefer
someone or something above others. Equality s love for Liberty continues to isolate and detach him
from his brothers. His love for Liberty motivates him to banish himself from his society and cut off all
his ties to it. Equality s individuality grows further when he purposely separates himself from his
society and obliterates the last of his identity that associates himself with the City. While showing his

Essay On New Haven
The city of New Haven, Connecticut has been a long standing settlement. Established officially by

the conflicts between the Native American groups. The Quinnipiack tribe occupied the area near the

English agreed to immediately. Through the years the settlement of New Haven has grown and

The Discovery Of Oil And Its Impact On The Environment
The discovery of oil has led to an abundance of new opportunities that have helped people create new

oil derived, in large part, from its attractiveness as an energy dense, easily deliverable source of fuel
for transportation. Oil is sometimes coined the term black gold because of its value. Corporations like
Chevron have made billions of dollars in the oil industry. With the rise of oil, the destruction of the

A pressure announced on the weather forecast of 29.92 is an average measurement. It is measured
with a barometer and in the United States the units of measure are inches of mercury, or inHg. This is
what meteorologist are referring to in their forecasts. 29.92 inHg is a measurement within the normal
range. This may be referred to as air pressure, atmospheric pressure or barometric pressure. They are
all the same thing. Low pressure readings are associated with stormy weather and precipitation, while
high pressure readings are indicated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The earth s rotation causes them to veer of course. This is the CF. Pressure gradient winds (PGF)
along with CF balance out geostrophic winds. If the earth slowed, the CF would decrease, so
geostrophic winds would have to increase to maintain this balance.
4. Explain why it is much more difficult to measure snowfall amount than rainfall amount.
Rain is measured by the amount of liquid contained in the measurement device. Whatever is amount
of liquid is in the device, is the measurement. However snow, has various factors that can impact its
measurement. First of all snowfall measurement is based on how much liquid there would be if the
snow was melted into liquid form. There are several factors that can impact how much snow is
measured in a device. Wind can move snow from high points to low points and vice versa. The surface
on which the snow is falling onto can also impact a measurement. The length of time the snow has
been on the ground and how compact it is can also effect measurements. Measuring in several places
and then using an average can give a more accurate total. Meteorologists usually forecast snow
amounts giving a range of totals due to these factors which make it challenging to give an exact
forecast.
5. Would you expect to find a subsidence inversion to be associated with high or low pressure? What
effects might a subsidence inversion have on weather conditions at the ground?
Subsidence inversions happen in areas of high pressure. A mass of cold air

Beatrice And Benedick Alternate Ending
The clatter of china surrounded the small group of adults, small talk traded between too bright smiles.
It was the day of the wedding, Claudio and Hero to be married off in mere minutes. A playful jab was
shared between Beatrice and Benedick, words flying out faster than arrows. Leonato stood, using a
dainty teaspoon to draw attention to himself, the light chatter fading to a dead silence. Nobody dared
talk when the master of the household did.
It is time, He proclaimed simply, hauling up both his daughter and her soon to be. Claudio s face was
plastered with a dashing smile, but if one looked close enough; long enough; hard enough; they would
see the flames behind his eyes, the anger sheathed until the moment was right.
The party exited the room, Leonato leading the way through the eerie, maze like tunnels with a dash
of uncertainty. The rain pattered overhead as they navigated. The ceremony was moved indoors to an
underground room, the only one that fit the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The flow soon stopped however, Leonato noticing two things. One, the room was silent once more,
and two, the flickering light from the candles had been covered with a thick cloak, leaving the room
and all its guests in a deathly black.
Beatrice was one of the first to recover from the haunting spell placed upon them, ignoring the moans
that had again risen. She moved quickly, silently, grasping Hero under her arms, finding her cousin out
cold. Looking about, she found what she was looking for, and dragged her to a long forgotten hatch,
hiding her in the elderly wine cellar, now swathed in cobwebs. Leonato began bellowing once more,
Claudio joining him, speaking of broken honours and betrayed trusts. The only maid present, Ursula,
began to creep to the closed door, but stopped dead when booming knocks began to emit from the

Healing Gardens Research Paper
Healing gardens have been with us for many years and people have been using the healing powers of
the earth, the sun, the fresh air, and the visually stimulating sights of nature to inspire and heal their
souls. Some of the common healing botanicals are herbs, vegetables, berries, fruits and nuts. These
botanicals are part of our daily dietary plans. To be amongst these healing plants while they are
growing enlightens relaxation and stimulates the sensory senses. The walking pathways throughout
the garden are to be placed with thought and planning. The pathways like our veins need to connect
and have purpose. This allows the visitors to see and explore every single special plant in the garden.
The garden can be walked through every day, a few times a day and that means the walk pathways
must be made of earth stones to allow the earths energy into the space. A cobble stone that will allow a
soft moss to grow along the sides of the path would be ideal. The more green the more relaxing the ...

In Greek mythology hope was the last thing that came out of Pandora s Box, the one thing that would help mankind cope with all the evil in the world. Likewise the Mississippi river is a symbol of hope that helps Huck and Jim on their onerous and bizarre adventure. Huck is hoping he will escape his abusive father, the widow s efforts to sivilize him, but most importantly he seeks an adventure made apparent with the title itself. For Jim it is hope, that one day he will free his family from slavery that pushes him on. Both Jim and Huck knowingly or unknowingly, depend on the river. In total, 3,000 people died, the majority citizens and not all from the United States, but at least 90 countries. Responding to this act was a global War on Terrorism, which resulted in an invasion of Afghanistan, the U.S. Patriot Act, and several civil and social changes in American society. More than anything else, though, U.S. security policy came under intense scrutiny and a new Cabinet Level Department was formed, Homeland Security. Congress also reacted by authorizing the use of military force against any individual, group, or State that participated or had any relation to the 9/11 attacks. The changes made to the American security system because of 9/11 were vast, and affected citizens at home and abroad, with certain groups fearful that civil liberties were now less important than security. The main objective of marketing is to identify trends and patterns in consumer behavior, and utilize the data to influence consumers to purchase more goods. From a macroenviroment standpoint, the general conditions of a market are heavily dependent on global environmental factors. The most significant factor that influences the markets today is technological advancements. Since the release of Facebook, Linked in, Twitter, and Myspace in the early 2000s, the number of people using social media has increased to over sixty five percent. The ever growing dependency on social media platforms, has given marketers the tremendous opportunity to further market potential consumers. (Satterlee, 2013). This paper combines the three concepts that Group 4 have considered most important. It primarily highlights the four functions of management; planning, leading, organizing, and controlling. Secondly, it discusses the characteristics of a successful manager. Finally, relates the necessary skills for a competent manager; technical skills, human skills, and conceptual skills. Group Consensus The first of the three most important concepts are the Four Functions of Management. Under this concept the four functions of management contain four objectives which are leading, planning, organizing and controlling. Under leading, leading deals with motivating employees, directing the activities of subordinates, and selecting the most effective forms of communicating across all levels of an organization. Leading also entails resolving conflict. (Saterlee, p.4, 2013). Throughout history Christian s belief is that the Holy Spirit, who controlled the writing of the individual books, also controlled their selection and compilation, thus continuing to fulfill our Lord s promise that He would guide his disciples into all reality. Inevitably, such writing were received by the infant churches as of quality equal to that of the old Bible ; placed alongside of it older books as an additional part of the one law of God; and read as such in their meetings for worship a practice which moreover was required by the apostles (I Thessalonians v. 27; col. 4:16; Rev. 1:3). It is the job of the social worker to accurately identify the patterns, presented rules, and their effect on the family. Declining snow depth and duration have serious implications for Australia s ski industry, in particular the longevity of the industry. This essay discusses the impacts of alpine climate change on snow cover, adaption strategies to sustain the industry s economy as well as the unsustainable nature of snowmaking as a long term solution. Limitations on water and energy resource make snowmaking problematic as a substitute for natural snow. The essay highlights the unsustainability of snowmaking as a short term solution, and raises concerns of the longevity of the ski industry. Currently, the Australian ski industry comprises of ten operational ski resorts (Figure 1) with 0.15% of the continent (Green and Pickering 2009, p. 271) regularly receiving snow due to the low attitude of mountains. Consequently, decline in snow cover on top of limited snow availability pose significant difficulties to the longevity of the ski industry. Effects of Climate Change Impact on ski industry Possible solutions Decreased snow cover ↓ snow depth and duration ↑ snowmaking to substitute natural with artificial snow Temperature ↓ snow cover cascading cycle Biodiversity vegetation Affects winter summer tourism Opportunity for summer tourism Water scarcity ↓ efficiency of snowmaking; ↑ cost and competition Use summer tourism to balance the ... • 24. Essay Finding Meaning in The Turn of The Screw, by Henry... At first glance, Bly appears to be a rather lonely place. The vividly bleak backdrop for The Turn of the Screw houses a handful of servants, two orphaned children, and ghosts who fade in and out of view. But there are others present who are less obtrusive yet just as influential as Peter Quint and Miss Jessel. Peering into and out of Bly s windows and mirrors, engaging with the text and the lingering trace of author Henry James, a crowd of real and virtual readers hope to catch a glimpse of a specter or to unravel a clever Freudian slipknot that will tell them something: They may be looking for that which they think James intended as the text s truth a transcendental center or maybe they subconsciously wish to see a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lustig asserts that James s story uses its blanks to undermine all attempts to establish relations and to join references into a coherent pattern (255). This coherent pattern is what the New Critics believe a text s essential organizing principle to be, and that it is present in the text whether a reader notices it or not. For formalists, a text s essential effect lies in the text alone and is completely independent of a reader s response to elements that create effect in him. Likewise, Lustig s precise analysis of form and subsequent deconstructionist reading of The Turn of the Screw does not mention what a possible reader s process might be when faced with the twists of Bly. But for whom is the effect valuable, if not the reader? As Iser explains in The Reading Process, readers situate themselves within their responses, in effect awakening [the] responses within himself (51). He further argues that if a reader were given the whole story...his imagination would never enter the field, and yield nothing but boredom (51). To Iser, the life of the text depends on a reader s participation in formulating his own response. More importantly, Iser touts the unwritten parts, (gaps and ambiguities) of a text to stimulate the imagination, a process that animates these outlines, and in turn...influence the effect of the written part... Each member of the Mafia, called a Made Guy , is independent in that he does not receive a salary from the group. Basically, each member is a franchise manager, who engages in criminal activity with the support and protection of the Mafia. Wind can move snow from high points to low points and vice versa. The surface on which the snow is falling onto can also impact a measurement. The length of time the snow has been on the ground and how compact it is can also effect measurements. Measuring in several places and then using an average can give a more accurate total.
