Plaster Of Paris
I. Purpose:
The purpose of the experiment is to determine how a mold and cast constructs fossils. The hypothesis
is a fossil mold will form after the plaster of paris is set and dried out. The justification for the
hypothesis is a cast will form when an animal or plant is covered in sediments. Once the sediments
start to harden into a rock state the fossil will become captured and preserved. (Wile, 159 162)
II. Materials:
1. Modeling clay or Play Doh
2. Plaster of paris
3. A paper plate
4. A shell or something with a distinctive design
5. Vaseline or another kind of petroleum jelly
6. Eye protection
III. Procedure:
The shell was covered in petroleum jelly then set on the counter while the modeling clay was being
stretched out on plate. Once the modeling clay was stretched out so it was two times bigger then the
shell, the shell was firmly pushed into the clay. Before the shell was removed the plaster of paris was
mixed together using the direction on the package. When the shell was removed it formed the mold,
the plaster of paris was poured over the mold until the mold was filled. The plate was ... Show more

A mold is formed when an animal or plant are captured in sediments later hardening into sedimentary
rock. Fossils are typically found in sedimentary rock because igneous rock is created with magma at a
temperature too high for an organic remains to survive. Metaphoric rock is created when sedimentary
or igneous rock has a high temperature and has high pressure. A fossil is able to form in metaphoric
rock but the pressure and heat the fossil is disconfirmed and useless. (Reference, Why Are Fossils
Only Found in Sedimentary Rock? ) Weathering will start to affect the rocks form and mainly the
fossil captured inside. Weathering normally has more affect on the fossil causing the fossil inside to
disintegrate. Sometimes the rock will break open and then the only fossil remaining is a mold. (Wile,

Children With Disabilities Essay
Children with disabilities tend to have severe struggles and problems that can impact their daily lives,
personal growth, and education. Disabilities are restrictions due to impairment that can prevent a
person from performing an activity in a way that would be considered normal for several others in that
developmental stage. One of the many disabilities, which can be considered rare, is deafness or hard
of hearing. Majority of children are born deaf even if they have hearing parents due to genetic reasons
of complications during pregnancy. A premature baby also has the chance of losing their hearing
because they are prone to diseases and serious infections which can be a leading cause of deafness.
This disability can lead to delayed language, speech development, communication and cognitive
skills; which can later influence a low self esteem, isolation, learning difficulties, and behavior
problems.
Hearing loss or hard of hearing can cause delays in a child s development not only of It causes delay
in the development of receptive and expressive communication skills (speech and language). Because
of this, they have a learning deficit that causes learning problems that result in reduced academic
achievement, Children that suffer from hearing loss or hard of hearing tend to have communication
difficulties which has a possibility of leading the child to social isolation and poor self concept. In
many countries, the inclusion of deaf children, and in general children with

Analysis Of Saladin And The Treaty Of Ramla
Saladin was one of the most prominent figures in the crusading years especially from 1173 1193. He
had a huge influence over the history of the Middle East, from his rise to power under Nur ed Din to
becoming one of the most influential figures in crusading history. In 1187 when his victory at the
Battle of Hattin showed how far he had unified the Islamic response to the crusaders and this is why
when he captured Jerusalem the Franks efforts during the Third Crusade were futile due to Saladin s
power. He was generous by nature according to many with Philips stating Crusaders praised him for
his generosity and the Treaty of Ramla shows how he could be generous, but also how he used
situations to his advantage as he allowed safe passage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view could again be because William of Tyre was a Frank and Saladin was the leader of the
Muslim forces who the Franks were fighting against and meant he was bound to be biased towards
Saladin. The idea of Saladin getting his power through disputed tactics opposed to sheer power and
strength is also shown in Source 3, by Richard de Templo who was also a Frank; he states by an act of
treachery, he put to death Molanus and Sewar, and thus gained for himself the sovereignty of Egypt.
This shows how Templo feels Saladin used treachery to gain power, just like William of Tyre in
Source 1. Both sources claim Saladin used questionable methods in order to achieve his rise to power.
Their accounts would have been for other Christians to read, this may explain why they are negative
towards Saladin as they would have seen Saladin as an enemy and a growing force in the Muslim
world. Both have heavy elements of bias and thus could be unreliable as a result. Modern historians
are fairer to Saladin, for example, Morgan states his rise to power was one of his biggest achievements
and suggests that during more than two decades of intensive military and political significance
including his rise to power. 2 This shows how just in 20 years Saladin had substantial amounts of skill

Abstract
The coach client relationship is the heart of all life coaching processes. Whether it involves executive
coaching, leadership, marriage or financial coaching without a client to serve, a coach cannot fulfill
his or her purpose. Hence, knowing how to effectively build relationships with people is fundamental
to being a successful life coach. This research paper will explore the dynamics of the coaching
relationship as it relates to factors, such as commonalities and compatibilities, which influence the
development and maintenance of effective relationships, as well as components that are critical to the

Boyce et al (2010) states, the similarity attraction hypothesis maintains that similarity is a major
source of attraction between individuals and that a variety of physical, social, and status traits can be
used as the basis for inferring similarity in attitudes and beliefs (p. 916). Compatibility refers to the
appropriate combination of client and coach behavior preferences or the characteristics the client and
coach possess that influence their cognitions and behaviors in various situations (Boyce et al, 2010, p.
916). It is believed that coaches who are matched with clients based on their styles of behavior and
similar personalities are more likely to have a healthier relationship (Boyce et al, 2010). Then again, if
a mismatched coaching relationship continues to exist the coach may be able to challenge the client s
perspectives, which can result in higher performance outcomes (Boyce et al, 2010).
Credibility is another important factor when matching coaches and clients. Boyce, Jackson and Neal
(2010) state that, credibility refers to a coach possessing the necessary credentials to meet client needs
and include coaching competence and experience (p. 917). Not only does credibility involve the coach
s competence and experience, but their ability to hold true to their word. Clients expect coaches to
follow through on their word. With time, this ultimately forms the client s

Strategic Challenges Between Samsung And Eskom
Introduction
Strategic management plays a vital role in most organisations as it consists of formulating and
implementing the company s goals; this is done by taking into account the available resources and
doing an analysis of the internal and external environment (Takalkar, 2014). The author of this essay
will be identifying and analysing a significant strategic challenge that was faced by a local and global
entity from two different industries, furthermore an external and internal analysis will be given. Lastly
the author will address how the two organisations were able to overcome the strategic challenge in
order to strengthen the strategic positions of the organisations. The local entity that was chosen is
Eskom which falls part of the energy industry and for the global entity Samsung was chosen as it falls
part of the technology industry. The differences found between Samsung and Eskom are that Samsung
provides products that can be seen as a want for its consumers whereas Eskom provides a service
which is a need for the general public. A similarity that can be found between the two entities is that
both these companies are leading players within the industry they belong to. The reason these two

and at Eskom an evident weakness is the lack of clear decision making when it comes to policies, such
as the Medupi delay caused by poor decision making. Furthermore Eskom has had labour issues like
the employee strike during the construction of a power station, this lead to a standstill and delay in

an active fire to pull out small objects, all the while with the possibility of being burnt. This game
should be handled with extreme caution and adult supervision. To start off this game, the player would
need to fill a waterproof bowl with Brandy, or other flammable liquid, and place various household
ingredients, including various fruits, almonds, and a handful of raisins. With players scattered around
the bowl, each one of them will take turns sticking their hands inside. They all try to pull out as much
as they can within the small timeframe of them getting burnt. When each player has taken their turn to
pull objects out of the flaming bowl, they will then proceed to count how many of the miscellaneous
pieces of food are in their hand. When done counting, each player will go around stating how many of
the various pieces of food are in their hand, tracking of scores if required. When each player is done
counting, and the winner is determined, then it s said to be that whoever the winner is, will be the first
to have a partner in marriage. This is a dangerous and unsafe game, but nonetheless, a somewhat fun

The Energy Sector is one of the most critical infrastructure within the 16 critical infrastructures
defined in Presidential Policy Directive 21 because it contains some of the most basic and essential
infrastructure in the upkeep of the United States of America. The Energy Sector provides the basic
requirement for all of the other 15 critical infrastructures to successfully operate. This does not mean
that the Energy Sector is self reliant. The Energy Sector depends on the United States transportation,

Reasons Why French Left Vietman in 1954
In 1939, Vietnam was part of a French indo china. This area was Laous, Cambodia and Vietnam. This
area was all part of the French empire in the 19th century. The French colonial rule was barely resisted
by the people of Vietnam but this harsh rule led to growing anti colonial feeling. Working conditions
in factories were very poor. Peasant farmers struggled with high taxes and the use of forced labour
because public works projects did little to help. Very few Vietnamese people could rise to positions of
importance in the colonial government. In 1885, the emperor of ... Show more content on

The only resistance to this Japanese rule was the Vietminh. The aim of this organisation was to
establish an independent and free Vietnam that was not under control of any foreign power. This
meant a fight against the French and the Japanese. This rule was formed by Ho Chi Minh in 1941.
Throughout the war, they attacked the French. Support grew in 1942 and 1943 but by 1944, they were
strong enough to attack the two French out posts.
In 1945, the Japanese finally over threw the French government and started to control the towns,
leaving country areas alone. This allowed the communists to build up support in those areas. Quite
soon afterwards, they defeated the Japanese and the war was over. After dropping atomic bombs on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the people of Vietnam planned an uprising. In September 1945, the
Vietnamese went to Haiphong. Ho Chi Minh declared independence. In October 1946, the French
forced the communists out of the south and took over Haiphong in the north. Then the indo Chinese
war began and the French started to control some of the important cities and

So we stayed in Nice for two weeks, joined a beach club on the Mediterranean for eleven dollars each,

We were just about ready to run out of money when we decided to go to a casino in Monaco, which
was right next to Nice you could walk there. We took whatever cash we had and put it on the roulette
wheel on the black. I m nowhere near an expert when it comes to casino games, I replied while

difference. There are eighteen red and eighteen black numbers in a game of roulette, which means an
eighteen in thirty seven chance for a wheel with no double zero and a nine in nineteen chance for one
with two greens. You get paid one to one for your nine to ten in Las Vegas casinos and those in other
states, so you lose the difference on average. Grandpa went on to explain how, if you bet red or black

Software Engineering And Intelligent Systems Essay
INTRODUCTION
Throughout the year I have learnt about many issues in software engineering and intelligent systems
by researching for this report. In this report I will be explaining and discussing these key problems and
some key techniques that can be implemented to overcome these for both software engineering and
intelligent systems.
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Software Engineering is the discipline of designing and developing software projects so that they
behave in an efficient and independent manner while meeting the requirement of the client. Some key
problems which arise in software engineering are complexity, inefficient communication and
inadequate testing. Software projects are large and take years to make. In order to reduce the risk of
failure and keep track of problems, software projects must follow the correct methodology.
A methodology is a set of instructions followed in order to develop projects efficiently. In software
engineering, a methodology is a discipline which structures a project strongly so that it will succeed.
Without a strong structure, the project will start to break down and create big problems for software
engineers.
KEY PROBLEMS COMPLEXITY
Software projects are complex and can crash with the slightest errors. Software Engineering projects
take a lot of time and can sometimes take years to code. Some projects are made with over a thousand
lines of code, due to this, the chance of error increases. For example, in 1998, a crew member of the

The Negative Effects Of Television Violence On Children
Children aged five to 16 spend an average of six and a half hours a day in front of a screen...
(Wakefield). But unfortunately, much of the television today is full of violence. Scientists believe that
the effects of TV violence on children and teenagers may cause them to become immune to the
consequence of violence, terror or horror, cause them to be unable to handle their problems in a
healthy form and cause them to copy, imitate, the violent behavior they see on the television.
Therefore, there needs to be a removal of violence from cartoons such as the ones on Boomerang, as it
is negatively affecting children.
One cause from the effect of violence from screen time or TV is: it can cause children or teenagers to
become immune to the consequence of violence, terror or horror. Children and teenagers can become
immune or not affected as a result of violence when they watch violent cartoons.
One opposing this might state that if violent cartoons are removed than that takes away the right of
choice for what people can watch. But, the programming of kids shows, normally cartoons, displays
up to 20 violent acts hourly. Eventually, this could cause them to be immune to violence if they are
watching it six and a half hours a day.
The AACAP(Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) states that if children are watching a great
amount of violence on TV then they are more likely to not connect pain and negativity with violence.
Television violence affects children through a

Araby, By James Joyce
In the story of, Araby James Joyce concentrated on three main themes that will explain the purpose of
the narrative. The story unfolded on North Richmond Street, which is a street composed of two rows
of houses, in a desolated neighborhood. Despite the dreary surroundings of dark muddy lanes and ash
pits the boy tried to find evidence of love and beauty in his surroundings. Throughout the story, the
boy went through a variety of changes that will pose as different themes of the story including
alienation, transformation, and the meaning of religion (Borey).
The narrator alienated himself from friends and family which caused loneliness and despair, being one
of the first themes of the story. He developed a crush on Mangan s ... Show more content on

Two men were flirting with a women and counting money which in turn ruined his thought of Eastern
enchantment. After seeing the women shamelessly flirt with the men, he realized that he allowed his
feelings for Mangan s sister to get carried away with. He was angry at himself for acting like a fool.
Gazing up into the darkness I saw myself as a creature driven and derided by vanity; and my eyes
burned with anguish and anger. (Joyce 392). The last line says a lot about the story and the complexity
of his feelings. However, the fact that he realized he was acting foolishly, showed that he was
maturing from an innocent young child, into a man( Sample Essays Analyzing James Joyce s Short
Story Araby ).
The last theme of the story and probably the most important is God and religion. To better understand
the complexity of the story you have to know the historical content of Dublin at the time the narrative
was written. During the 1900 s Ireland was under British control and Ireland s main religion was
Roman Catholicism. Most families sent their children to schools that where taught by Jesuit priests
and convent schools run by nuns. Ireland also had a lot of poverty in it and because there weren t any
TV s or radios for entertainment, so they relied on folklore and storytelling to pass the time . As you
can see, it s clear why such a big event like Araby held great expectations(

Women In Sub-National Legislatures
Though the representation of women in national legislatures has been thoroughly studied, there has
been relatively little research dedicated to women s representation in subnational institutions (as
Vengroff, Nyiri, and Fugiero note in Electoral System and Gender Representation in Sub National
Legislatures ). This is unfortunate, as women have been shown to tend to take on different roles in
legislatures than men; for example, women often tend to focus on issues described by one author as
children s and families concerns . These issues include things like education, welfare and childcare,
with far fewer women focusing on things like public works (Palley, Dolan). A better understanding of
what factors lead to greater representation of women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

identifying as conservative. Data on political ideology from Gallup, 2015. Figure 5. Percentage of
women in state legislatures throughout the United States vs. poverty rate. Data on poverty rate from
U.S. Census Bureau.
Discussion The results of the analysis confirm my hypothesis to some extent on all counts, with the
strongest correlation found between religiosity and the election of women. Similar links between
religion and women s participation at the national level have been found in other studies (Kenworthy
Malami, Reynolds, Norris Inglehart). In addition to this, conservatism and religiosity are closely
linked (using the data this study was based on, I found a strong correlation between the two; R = .73)
there is a great deal of overlap between the deeply conservative and the deeply religious. The attitudes
of many of the U.S. s most popular religious denominations (particularly Evangelical Christian
denominations) tend to discourage a large role for women in public life, emphasizing a more
traditional stay at home role; this advocacy of non participation of women in public life finds
ideological justification in conservatism (and conservatism finds religious justification in
Evangelicism). The impact of negative ideological attitudes toward women s participation in electoral
politics on the number of women in politics has been much discussed, and the idea that there is an
impact is little disputed (Paxton

Sexism In Antony And Cleopatra
Coming to the Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra, we once again come up with a character who is
alienated but in this case it is not because of race or religion but because of gender. Shakespeare has a
really funny way of developing his female characters. There are a few tropes that Shakespearean
females fall under: the virgin, the mother, and the whore. What is particularly interesting about the
characterization of Shakespearean females is that they rarely speak for themselves, but rather, are
developed by how the men in the play perceive them. While this may create a biased interpretation of
the character within the world of the play, the reader has the unique experience of finding the ways in
which that female speaks for herself. Arguably one of the brashest female characters in all of
Shakespeare s works is Cleopatra. In Antony and Cleopatra, she is almost always viewed through the
lens of the male characters of the play, who view her as a whore, apart from ... Show more content on

Yet, the shaming of Cleopatra s sexuality works in two ways. While at points throughout the play, this
characterization undermines the overall charm of her character, Cleopatra is also able to find a
significant amount of power through her sexuality. Looking through a more feminist lens, Cleopatra is
able to use her feminine sexuality to gain and maintain an influence over the men of the play;
regardless of whether the men of the play love her, or hate her, they are still thinking about her, and
she has control over them. Her sexuality becomes one of the most compelling elements of her
character. Even other characters admit to her power, even if it is in the form of mild slut shaming. And
it is this power, which she wields, that makes her

Russian Working Conditions in the 19th Century
Karl Marx drafted The Communist Manifesto with Friedrich Engels in the mid 19th century after
living in Moscow and seeing the strife of laborers there. The document was a reflection on the two
men s belief that the wealthier members of society were exploiting the working class. From his
experience in Russian society, Marx became concerned with the way that the majority of the
proletariat class was living. The filthy and inhumane working conditions, the negligible wages, and
the way that the employers disrespected their employees, all led to Marx penning The Communist
Manifesto. The theme of humans and nature is shown by the ideas that Marx and Engels wrote about

As Paul Brians states,
The old feudal restrictions which had fixed peasants in place on the land and limited their income had
also guaranteed them a place in the world. They may not have prospered, but they were often able to
fend off starvation and homelessness simply because they had been born onto estates from which they
could not be removed against their wills. [i]
After the feudal system was destroyed, workers moved to the cities and began to participate in what
would later be referred to as, The Industrial Revolution.
As technology increased and the demand for manufactured goods grew, more and more Russian
peasants migrated to the cities. Soon the big metropolises such as St. Petersburg and Moscow became
hubs for the demands of the industrial world. As the number of factories expanded, so did the number
of laborers, and in turn, the conditions in these workplaces worsened. As Bonnell writes,
In the second half of the nineteenth century the face of traditional Russian society began to change.
Many villages and towns became transformed into factory centers, and mills started to appear where
once there had been only peasant huts. In the leading urban centers of the Russian Empire St.
Petersburg, the modern capital, and its predecessor, Moscow the pace of industrialization was rapid
and intense. Factories and shops were springing up as never before, spilling over into the outskirts of
each city, and creating

The Male Gaze . In 1975, feminist film critic Laura Mulvey in her 1975 essay entitled Visual Pleasure

that is placed onto various mediums such as film that depict the world and women from a masculine
point of view and in terms of men s male dominance over women . This gaze according to Mulvey,

The Rule Of Saint Benedict s The Rule Of Saint Benedict
In The Rule of Saint Benedict, Saint Benedict details the instruments of good works that he believes
will be produced in monks when they submit to God s will and become fruitful in their lives due to
their living in monastic communities. According to Saint Benedict, monks are to love the Lord their
God with all their heart, soul, and mind, as well as to love one s enemies, to confess past sins, and to
live a life dedicated to the Lord. Many of these guidelines for living a Godly life are still being taught
and preached at major churches around the globe. Are all of them still being taught to modern
Christians though? How about number ten of Saint Benedict s list To deny oneself in order to follow
Christ. (Benedict 52) Denying oneself is hard though, many people, even Christians would say, some
even saying that it is just too hard. While some may declare their unwillingness to do this, in my
perspective, denying oneself is an integral part of following Christ and more modern Christian
teachers, pastors, and leaders should discuss and teach this truth to their congregations, thus enabling
modern Christ followers to become more fully devoted to God like their monastic contemparies. To
begin with, in chapter four of The Rule of Saint Benedict, Benedict details his list of instruments of
good works to help Abbots conduct their own monasteries. Saint Benedict s main purpose in writing
The Rule of Saint Benedict was to provide a guidebook for monasteries during his time and for times
to come. He details what monks daily lives should look like and their daily, scheduled activities. In
chapter four, he specifically gives the monasteries Godly behavior rules that they should follow. Along
with those stated above, Benedict also instructs monks To reject wordliness...To suffer persecution for
the sake of justice...To see death before one daily. (Benedict 52 53) To see death before one daily and
To deny oneself in order to follow Christ are some of the major points Benedict makes that, in my
opinion, are not discussed enough nowadays. At the end of his list, Benedict firmly declares that These
are the tools of our spiritual craft. If we always remember and use them, and give them up only on

Analysis Of Lps Schemes Can Be Categorized From Different...
2.2 LPS Classification Due to their diversity, LPS schemes can be categorized from different
perspectives .The classification could be based on various criteria like methodology, dependency on
equipment s, operating scenarios, targeted users and outputs. Here we categorize indoor localization
systems along three dimensions. First, we consider the output of a localization system which is usually
generalized as locations or positions, but actually could be divided into different groups. Most
common outputs include: Absolute positions: Positions with coordinate s information which could be
directly mapped to physical space. The absolute location could either be represented in discrete space

navigation system (INS): A common navigation method widely used on vehicles like ships and
aircrafts which continuously calculate the position and orientation of objects by dead reckoning (DR)
without the need of external RP. Signaturing: System utilizing user identifications or spatial signatures
corresponding to environmental characteristics or artificial landmarks to localize, which could be
based on various technologies including RFID, motion detections, optoacoustic and humiture sensors.
Fingerprinting: Constructing a fingerprint map which would be queried explicitly for localization.
Often referred as but different from signaturing, fingerprinting provides finer grained mapping of
fingerprints to absolute positions instead of logical positions. The vast development of mobile
computing, wireless and sensing technologies provides various platforms and tools for localization

technologies and platforms that localization systems are based on. A commonly used platform for LPS

Write An Essay On Honduras
Six Things You Should Know about traveling to Honduras Honduras is the second largest country in
Central America, but one of the poorest. The Mayan ruins at Copán are the remains of a civilization
that flourished there between the fourth and ninth centuries AD. Christopher Columbus landed in
Honduras on his last voyage in 1502. In search of gold and silver, the Spanish conquered the land
beginning in 1524. Within twenty years, the native population decreased to only eight thousand due to
disease, abuse, and slave trade with other countries. Central America, freed itself from Spanish rule in
1821. Honduras, however, did not become independent until 1838. Dictators ruled the country almost
like a communist country and there have been an estimate of about three hundred national rebellions,
civil wars, and many changes of government since then. A number of civilians have been elected
president since the 1950s, but several of them have been overthrown by the military. It s not as

Economic Development And Development Of Welfare
When discussing the origins of welfare states it is easy to make an assumption that the development of
welfare states was in direct response to social needs brought by industrialization and economic
development. In fact the early scholarship in social policy did not question the causational effect
between economic development and development of welfare states. Understanding that economic
development alone cannot sufficiently explain why some countries developed into full welfare states
while others did not prevail until the emergence of social democratic theory and its further expansions.
Based on the later studies, the economic development was a necessary cause and played the role of
creating the need and the resources for social provisions while politics was sufficient condition which
determined whether social needs would be addressed though creation of welfare state of other types of
social provisions. Looking back in history, while economic development did not invent poverty, it
change its nature by making it difficult for families to take care for the disabled, elderly, and
unemployed. More specifically, it led to a decrease in labor force participation in agriculture, rapid
spread of self regulating labor market, urbanization, destruction of traditional social protections,
commodification of labor, and the emergence of a new social category of the laboring poor dependent
on the insecure labor market. In addition to establishing the above described functional demand

similarity and difference. Both characters have lived a shallow life which helped to deepen their
sorrow. In The Doctor, Jack s shallow life leaves him feeling alone when he is diagnosed with cancer.
He is unable to take comfort in his wife s presence and requires nothing of her during his treatment. In
Next Day , the narrator s shallow life is the primary cause of her suffering. As she looks back on her
life she is troubled by what she has become. Both characters are seen by others as having a full and
complete life, however, they are facing the internal battle of not truly living but instead only focusing
on things that are important only on the surface. The main difference between the characters is Dr.
Jack McKee learns how to live a full life because of his suffering while the narrator in Next Day is left
feeling confused about her solitary life. In The Doctor, Jack s shallow relationship with his wife
changes and his approach to his career changes. For example, in a scene towards the end of the film
Dr. McKee is chasing his wife around the house begging her to yell at him. He wants to make a deeper
connection with her and let her know that he is completely there for her. In addition, he takes a patient
centered approach to his career as a physician compared to the no contact approach he originally used.

What Is The Reflection Of Lucretius s On The Nature Of Things
In his work, On the Nature of Things (De Rerum Natura), Lucretius sought to address superstitious
fears and unscientific notions that were embedded in his state s (Rome) religion (450). He recalls the
story of King Agamemnon having to sacrifice his daughter to appease Artemis. Upon this recollection,
he makes the claim that religion is wicked. However, unlike Lucretius s belief, true religious
faithfulness, as it relates to the Biblical God, does not lead to wickedness, but rather offers redemption
from the wicked. Titus Lucretius Carus (ca. 99 55 B.C.) dedicated his life to philosophy and found
what he believed was the meaning of things through studying the teachings of Epicurus, a third
century B.C. Athenian philosopher. Upon discovering Epicureanism, Lucretius found the work to be
liberating as it sought to address humanity s anxieties and to provide freedom from it. On the Nature
of Things can be regarded as Lucretius personal reflection of Epicurean beliefs. At the time of
Lucretius work, it was uncommon for literature to express any notion of beliefs that opposed the
traditional beliefs about the gods. Due to this, his views did not have many supporters during his own
time. However, his work was rediscovered during the Renaissance, and it is recognized as a unique
expression of Roman culture. In his poem, Lucretius intends to deliver the human spirit from
imaginary fears by presenting a purely naturalistic, materialistic interpretation of the world (450). He
believed that this belief in the supernatural was an idea that weighed down man and something they
needed to be freed from. In the opening of the passage he describes, A Greek, first raised his mortal
eyes bravely against this menace [Religion]... So his force, a vital force of mind, a conqueror explored
the vast immensities of space, with wit and wisdom, and came back to us triumphant (Lucretius 451).
Lucretius is describing the account of Epicurus and the foundation of Epicureanism. He boldly
describes Epicurus as a hero in an effort to persuade his audience of the superiority of this naturalistic
worldview. He continues to say, [he brings us] news of what can be and what cannot, limits and
boundaries, the borderline, the benchmark, set

factor, that an increase in the complexity of issues leads to increased uncertainty in the scientific

towards unfounded speculation about uncertainties role in individuals willingness to take
environmental action, and then they abruptly transition to their discussion of trust. The issue of
uncertainty persists in the manner with which the authors have chosen to operationalize their research
question. When operationalizing their research question the authors made several critical clerical

in the definition used which could cause confusion given the associated context in which the measure
is being used. The definition of uncertainty within the scientific community most certainly differs

  • 2. Plaster Of Paris I. Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to determine how a mold and cast constructs fossils. The hypothesis is a fossil mold will form after the plaster of paris is set and dried out. The justification for the hypothesis is a cast will form when an animal or plant is covered in sediments. Once the sediments start to harden into a rock state the fossil will become captured and preserved. (Wile, 159 162) II. Materials: 1. Modeling clay or Play Doh 2. Plaster of paris 3. A paper plate 4. A shell or something with a distinctive design 5. Vaseline or another kind of petroleum jelly 6. Eye protection III. Procedure: The shell was covered in petroleum jelly then set on the counter while the modeling clay was being stretched out on plate. Once the modeling clay was stretched out so it was two times bigger then the shell, the shell was firmly pushed into the clay. Before the shell was removed the plaster of paris was mixed together using the direction on the package. When the shell was removed it formed the mold, the plaster of paris was poured over the mold until the mold was filled. The plate was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A mold is formed when an animal or plant are captured in sediments later hardening into sedimentary rock. Fossils are typically found in sedimentary rock because igneous rock is created with magma at a temperature too high for an organic remains to survive. Metaphoric rock is created when sedimentary or igneous rock has a high temperature and has high pressure. A fossil is able to form in metaphoric rock but the pressure and heat the fossil is disconfirmed and useless. (Reference, Why Are Fossils Only Found in Sedimentary Rock? ) Weathering will start to affect the rocks form and mainly the fossil captured inside. Weathering normally has more affect on the fossil causing the fossil inside to disintegrate. Sometimes the rock will break open and then the only fossil remaining is a mold. (Wile, ... Disabilities are restrictions due to impairment that can prevent a person from performing an activity in a way that would be considered normal for several others in that developmental stage. One of the many disabilities, which can be considered rare, is deafness or hard of hearing. Majority of children are born deaf even if they have hearing parents due to genetic reasons of complications during pregnancy. A premature baby also has the chance of losing their hearing because they are prone to diseases and serious infections which can be a leading cause of deafness. This disability can lead to delayed language, speech development, communication and cognitive skills; which can later influence a low self esteem, isolation, learning difficulties, and behavior problems. Hearing loss or hard of hearing can cause delays in a child s development not only of It causes delay in the development of receptive and expressive communication skills (speech and language). • 4. Analysis Of Saladin And The Treaty Of Ramla Saladin was one of the most prominent figures in the crusading years especially from 1173 1193. He had a huge influence over the history of the Middle East, from his rise to power under Nur ed Din to becoming one of the most influential figures in crusading history. In 1187 when his victory at the Battle of Hattin showed how far he had unified the Islamic response to the crusaders and this is why when he captured Jerusalem the Franks efforts during the Third Crusade were futile due to Saladin s power. He was generous by nature according to many with Philips stating Crusaders praised him for his generosity and the Treaty of Ramla shows how he could be generous, but also how he used situations to his advantage as he allowed safe passage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This view could again be because William of Tyre was a Frank and Saladin was the leader of the Muslim forces who the Franks were fighting against and meant he was bound to be biased towards Saladin. The idea of Saladin getting his power through disputed tactics opposed to sheer power and strength is also shown in Source 3, by Richard de Templo who was also a Frank; he states by an act of treachery, he put to death Molanus and Sewar, and thus gained for himself the sovereignty of Egypt. This shows how Templo feels Saladin used treachery to gain power, just like William of Tyre in Source 1. Both sources claim Saladin used questionable methods in order to achieve his rise to power. Their accounts would have been for other Christians to read, this may explain why they are negative towards Saladin as they would have seen Saladin as an enemy and a growing force in the Muslim world. Both have heavy elements of bias and thus could be unreliable as a result. Modern historians are fairer to Saladin, for example, Morgan states his rise to power was one of his biggest achievements and suggests that during more than two decades of intensive military and political significance including his rise to power. 2 This shows how just in 20 years Saladin had substantial amounts of skill in politics and this helped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Boyce et al (2010) states, the similarity attraction hypothesis maintains that similarity is a major source of attraction between individuals and that a variety of physical, social, and status traits can be used as the basis for inferring similarity in attitudes and beliefs (p. 916). Compatibility refers to the appropriate combination of client and coach behavior preferences or the characteristics the client and coach possess that influence their cognitions and behaviors in various situations (Boyce et al, 2010, p. 916). It is believed that coaches who are matched with clients based on their styles of behavior and similar personalities are more likely to have a healthier relationship (Boyce et al, 2010). Then again, if a mismatched coaching relationship continues to exist the coach may be able to challenge the client s perspectives, which can result in higher performance outcomes (Boyce et al, 2010). Credibility is another important factor when matching coaches and clients. Boyce, Jackson and Neal (2010) state that, credibility refers to a coach possessing the necessary credentials to meet client needs and include coaching competence and experience (p. 917). Not only does credibility involve the coach s competence and experience, but their ability to hold true to their word. Clients expect coaches to follow through on their word. To start off this game, the player would need to fill a waterproof bowl with Brandy, or other flammable liquid, and place various household ingredients, including various fruits, almonds, and a handful of raisins. With players scattered around the bowl, each one of them will take turns sticking their hands inside. They all try to pull out as much as they can within the small timeframe of them getting burnt. When each player has taken their turn to pull objects out of the flaming bowl, they will then proceed to count how many of the miscellaneous pieces of food are in their hand. When done counting, each player will go around stating how many of the various pieces of food are in their hand, tracking of scores if required. When each player is done counting, and the winner is determined, then it s said to be that whoever the winner is, will be the first to have a partner in marriage. • 11. Software Engineering And Intelligent Systems Essay INTRODUCTION Throughout the year I have learnt about many issues in software engineering and intelligent systems by researching for this report. In this report I will be explaining and discussing these key problems and some key techniques that can be implemented to overcome these for both software engineering and intelligent systems. SOFTWARE ENGINEERING Software Engineering is the discipline of designing and developing software projects so that they behave in an efficient and independent manner while meeting the requirement of the client. Some key problems which arise in software engineering are complexity, inefficient communication and inadequate testing. Software projects are large and take years to make. In order to reduce the risk of failure and keep track of problems, software projects must follow the correct methodology. A methodology is a set of instructions followed in order to develop projects efficiently. In software engineering, a methodology is a discipline which structures a project strongly so that it will succeed. Without a strong structure, the project will start to break down and create big problems for software engineers. KEY PROBLEMS COMPLEXITY Software projects are complex and can crash with the slightest errors. Software Engineering projects take a lot of time and can sometimes take years to code. Some projects are made with over a thousand lines of code, due to this, the chance of error increases. For example, in 1998, a crew member of the USS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But unfortunately, much of the television today is full of violence. Scientists believe that the effects of TV violence on children and teenagers may cause them to become immune to the consequence of violence, terror or horror, cause them to be unable to handle their problems in a healthy form and cause them to copy, imitate, the violent behavior they see on the television. Therefore, there needs to be a removal of violence from cartoons such as the ones on Boomerang, as it is negatively affecting children. One cause from the effect of violence from screen time or TV is: it can cause children or teenagers to become immune to the consequence of violence, terror or horror. Children and teenagers can become immune or not affected as a result of violence when they watch violent cartoons. One opposing this might state that if violent cartoons are removed than that takes away the right of choice for what people can watch. But, the programming of kids shows, normally cartoons, displays up to 20 violent acts hourly. Eventually, this could cause them to be immune to violence if they are watching it six and a half hours a day. Shakespeare has a really funny way of developing his female characters. There are a few tropes that Shakespearean females fall under: the virgin, the mother, and the whore. What is particularly interesting about the characterization of Shakespearean females is that they rarely speak for themselves, but rather, are developed by how the men in the play perceive them. While this may create a biased interpretation of the character within the world of the play, the reader has the unique experience of finding the ways in which that female speaks for herself. • 33. What Is The Reflection Of Lucretius s On The Nature Of Things In his work, On the Nature of Things (De Rerum Natura), Lucretius sought to address superstitious fears and unscientific notions that were embedded in his state s (Rome) religion (450). He recalls the story of King Agamemnon having to sacrifice his daughter to appease Artemis. Upon this recollection, he makes the claim that religion is wicked. However, unlike Lucretius s belief, true religious faithfulness, as it relates to the Biblical God, does not lead to wickedness, but rather offers redemption from the wicked. Titus Lucretius Carus (ca. 99 55 B.C.) dedicated his life to philosophy and found what he believed was the meaning of things through studying the teachings of Epicurus, a third century B.C. Athenian philosopher. Upon discovering Epicureanism, Lucretius found the work to be liberating as it sought to address humanity s anxieties and to provide freedom from it. On the Nature of Things can be regarded as Lucretius personal reflection of Epicurean beliefs. At the time of Lucretius work, it was uncommon for literature to express any notion of beliefs that opposed the traditional beliefs about the gods. Due to this, his views did not have many supporters during his own time. However, his work was rediscovered during the Renaissance, and it is recognized as a unique expression of Roman culture. In his poem, Lucretius intends to deliver the human spirit from imaginary fears by presenting a purely naturalistic, materialistic interpretation of the world (450). He believed that this belief in the supernatural was an idea that weighed down man and something they needed to be freed from. In the opening of the passage he describes, A Greek, first raised his mortal eyes bravely against this menace [Religion]... So his force, a vital force of mind, a conqueror explored the vast immensities of space, with wit and wisdom, and came back to us triumphant (Lucretius 451). Lucretius is describing the account of Epicurus and the foundation of Epicureanism. He boldly describes Epicurus as a hero in an effort to persuade his audience of the superiority of this naturalistic worldview. He continues to say, [he brings us] news of what can be and what cannot, limits and boundaries, the borderline, the benchmark, set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Johnson and Michael J. Scicchitano in its current form is unfit for publication. Johnson and Scicchitano should be commended for identifying a gap in our ability to accurately quantify the strength and intensity of environmental concerns. This gap is certainly worthy of further study; however, their execution and attempt to quantify this phenomena does not have the necessary wherewithal to close the gap in the literature as it stands. Further, the literature review suffers from an additional lack of clarity in the paragraph on the bottom of page 634. Here, the authors begin to delve into the theory and rationalization behind including uncertainty as an appropriate measure. The authors write, Uncertainty can affect an individuals willingness to act on environmental beliefs in several ways signaling to the reader that a laundry list of factors is to follow. However, they only make mention of one tangentially linked evidence based factor, that an increase in the complexity of issues leads to increased uncertainty in the scientific community. No further examples in support of uncertainty follow this one. Instead, the authors pivot towards unfounded speculation about uncertainties role in individuals willingness to take environmental action, and then they abruptly transition to their discussion of trust. The issue of uncertainty persists in the manner with which the authors have chosen to operationalize their research question. When operationalizing their research question the authors made several critical clerical errors that could have impacted their results. In their discussion of uncertainty there is a lack of clarity in the definition used which could cause confusion given the associated context in which the measure is being used.
