Classical Management Theorists
Frederick Taylor and Henri Fayol were both theorists of the classical management movement. The
classical approach was the framework to what management is all about. Therefore it can be said that
they laid the foundation for many theorists. Frederick Taylor was an important theorist of the early
20th century and he made many important contributions to management. He proposed the principles
of scientific management which he believed would improve industrial efficiency. He believed
management could be formulated as a discipline. Taylor s principles of scientific management
focused on cooperation between management and the workers as well as improving the technical
skills of the workers (Hodgetts, 1995). His approach is often referred to... Show more content on

There is an almost equal division of work and responsibility between the management and the
workmen. The management takes over all the work they are better fitted than the workmen, while
in the past almost all of the work and the greater part of the responsibility were thrown upon the
men. (Hodgetts, 1995).
Taylor s scientific management focused on increasing productivity, whereas Fayol s administrative
management theory focuses on ways to make the organisation more effective and efficient.
Scientific management focused on employees as individuals and their tasks, general administrative
management theory dealt with total management organization. According to Pindur Rogers, 1995,
General management theory was a much broader theory concerned with administrative
management functions and is considered the forerunner of modern organization theory.
For Henri Fayol, management was not so much as a way of devising systems to increase
productivity but it was concerned with the integration of the different functions of the organisation
such as production, sales, finance and so on (Wren, 1994).
According to Fayol the success of an organization depended more on the administrative skills of the
manager than on

characterized with thrilling anxiety during separation and strive for closeness to their attachment
figure upon reunion. The anxious avoidant children appear content during the absence of their
attachment figure and not predominantly engrossed in seeking juxtaposition and soothing upon
reunion. These children are anxious during separation and they learned to suppress their emotions
(Berzoff, 2011). Disorganized children are particularly ambivalent upon reunion with their
attachment figure, both synchronously approaching and avoiding contact. Most of the infants

Bowlby s theory is fundamentally, based on scientific findings on early attachment development
from childhood to adulthood (Fischer, 2006). He observed that infants separated from their parents
or caregivers are emotionally distressed. Bowlby believed that individual s behavior could be
naturally well understood through the analysis of characteristic exploration that is connected with
psychodynamic affiliation. Bowlby s exodus from the traditional psychoanalytic theory at that
time, earned him many years of hatred by his pears. It was after his death in 1990 that the British
analytic community issued a formal apology to his family for their negative action against him
(Fischer, 2006). Culture/Diversity: According to Health and Human Services Office of Minority
Health, approximately 20% of African Americans are more likely to experience serious mental
health problems than the general population (Census, 2016). This is due to exposure to violent
environment and homelessness which can increase anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder,
depression etc., (Ward, 2013). African Americans are more likely to be victims of violent crime
which are influenced by the risk for developing a mental health issue. Such as; Posttraumatic stress

A Call From Casey s General Store
On 03 December 2015 at 1048 hours, a call from Casey s General Store located at 400 Broadway
Ave, Godfrey, IL 62035, was placed to 911. Billie Joe Anderson, a clerk at Casey s stated, A
young woman came into the store and asked me to call the police for a domestic dispute at 900

Impact Of Education On The American Education System
Education has overtime developed from an institution that lacked what was necessary to properly
education men, women and children, to what is now a fairly decent system that prepares people
from all across the world. For minorities, or underrepresented ethnic groups in America this is a
different case. My focused are of research pertains to the history of educationand how policies and
the quality of it has transformed.
While we have grown over the decades to provide education for all groups of people there is still
equality lacking in our education system. For my research I will be examining how education has
changed between the generations in America and how the system is now compared to the late
1800s and 1900s. My research question is how has the quality and available opportunities for
underrepresented minority groups changed in the American education system.
Janelle Scott and Rand Quinn examine the racial politics of education in the six decades Post
Brown Era in their article, The Politics of Education in the Post Brown Era: Race, Markets, and the
Struggle for Equitable Schooling . The authors analyze market reform trends and how they are
being justified by those within the school system. San Francisco and Philadelphia are the two cities
being focused on and how market trends are affecting the schools and its children. Racial,
Linguistic and socioeconomic segregation in public education are being observed within these
cities. As the authors did their research they

Analyzing The Behavior Of The Fed Before And After The...
This paper will analyze the behavior of the FED before, during and after the most recent recession.
The analysis will begin in 2003 and continue through 2013. This paper will be divided into three
parts. First, it will analyze the economic situation the FED faced in the time period aforementioned.
Second, it will explain the FED s actions during this time period, focusing on various monetary tools
discussed in class. Third, it will explain whether the author thinks that the FED acted appropriately
given the economic situation. It will consider six variables: the civilian unemployment rate, the
personal consumption expenditures chain price index, the M2 money stock, the velocity of the M2
money stock, the effective federal funds rate and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this period personal consumption expenditures increased from 1.978% in 2003 to
2.504% by 2007. Personal consumption expenditures peaked at 2.852% in 2005. During this period
the velocity of the M2 money stock steadily increased from 2003 to 2005. From 2003 to 2005 the
velocity of M2 increased from 1.976% to 2.235%. However, in 2006 the velocity of M2 decreased
to 0.546% and continued to fall to 1.581% in 2007. From 2003 to 2007 the federal funds rate
steadily increased. The two biggest increases in the federal funds rate during this period
occurred from 2003 2005 and 2005 2006, respectively. In 2003 the federal funds rate was 1.13%
and by 2005 it had risen to 3.21%. From 2005 to 2006 the federal funds rate rose from 3.21% to
4.96%. The federal funds rate reached its highest point during this period in 2007, when it
reached 5.02%. The money stock decreased from 2003 to 2005 and then began increasing from
2005 to 2007. The money stock dropped from 6.974% in 2003 to 4.304% in 2005, hitting its lowest
point of this time period, but rose to 6.210% by 2007. The amount of excess reserves did not
change dramatically, but remained low throughout this period. From 2003 to 2004 excess reserves
decreased from $1,808 million dollars to $1,643 million dollars and rose to $1,742 million dollars
in 2005. Excess reserves decreased again in 2006, falling to $1,676 million dollars before increasing

Corporate Social Veil And Limited Liability
I. Introduction
In recent times, there has been an increased incidence among large scale business organizations to
structure their operations through the form of corporate groups, with many domestic and
international subsidiaries, wholly owned or otherwise, with the corporate veil ensuring that each of
these enjoy separate corporate legal personality and limited liability. The existence of these
corporate groups , with subsidiary companies being heavily controlled by their parent companies,
have necessitated interpretations and applications of existing corporate legal principles to this
novel context, even in case of the basic tenets of corporate law. The circumstances associated with
corporate veil piercing, through detailed consideration of conditions to treating holding and
subsidiary companies as one legal unit, with associated civil liabilities, is also an issue of heated
debate.
This report considers the significance and implications of the concepts of corporate legal
personality, corporate veil and limited liability in the setting of corporate groups. Additionally, there
is an attempt to critically explore and evaluate the corporate civil liability of corporate groups,
under the circumstances of statutory corporate veil piercing, with specific examination of the legal
principles applied by courts to justify such an action to protect creditors.

Man Is Not An Individual
Man is not an individual. He is a social organism. God loves him only who serves other beings
man, cattle and other creatures. His glory lies in being a member of a big family. On the one
hand, man is bound by blood kinship his parents, his wife , his children and on the other , he is
linked with every individual of society whether near or far from his, it is given to man to link
himself with those who constitute his ancestry and also think of those who would be his posterity.
Man possessed of certain inalienable rights. Thus lives, works and dies for society. Man is expected
to develop his craft, science and technology and lead society from poverty to prosperity with a
happy today and a happier tomorrow.
Crime is inevitable in human society. No doubt , we have progressed a lot in every sphere of life
and struggle to achieve immortality is going on, but yet in this journey from animal way of life to
the human way of life, still we are haunted by the thought of animal instincts. Every where some
human beings have fallen outside the pattern of permitted conduct. It is best to fact that crime
cannot be abolished except in a non existence utopia. Commenting on this aspect Durkherim in his
treatise a crime as a normal phenomenon says, a society composed of persons with angelic
qualities would not be free from violation of the norms of that society . In fact, crime is a constant
phenomenon changing with the social change.
At the same time all civilized societies want a peaceful

Mass Extinction And Its Impact On The World
200,000 years ago, the most adaptable animal that has ever lived comes onto the world, and it
possessed a very large brain. Homo sapiens or more commonly referred to as modern humans,
survived by using these powerful brains to learn and prosper in its environment. No other species
has had such a huge impact on the world compared to that of humans. Being able to manipulate the
environment to better suit their needs, but for every action there is an opposite and sometimes an
even greater consequence. Many signs point to a great extinctionoccurring at this moment and it has
correlation with the beginning of the Homo sapiens expansion, more increasingly with the rise of
the Industrial Era. Humanhands have managed to touch every species on earth in one shape or
another, and there is nowhere for them to escape to. This great extinction, though not to the
magnitude of the five previous mass extinctions has the potential to rival them. The sixth mass
extinction has its origin starting back to roughly 100,000 years known as the Holocene Event
(Lawrence, 2011). This is also around the time that humans began to expand out of Africa, and into
the Asian and European continents. Leaving there foot prints on the land and the negative effects
on the animals they encountered. Lawrence also states that the climate fluctuated during this period
of time but it had no corresponding extinctions with the fluctuations (2011). So, humans had to
have an impact with the extinction of the larger

Basic Element of Just in Time
Basic elements of Just In Time
The basic elements of Just In Time (JIT) were developed by Toyota in the 1950 s, known as the
Toyota Production System (TPS). JIT was well established in many Japanese factories by the
early 1970 s. JIT began to be adopted in the U.S. in the 1980 s (General Electric was an early
adopter), and the JIT/lean concepts are now widely accepted and used. There have ten basic
elements in Just In time which are flexible resource, efficient facility layout, pull production
system, Kanban production control, small lot production, quick setup, uniform production, quality
at the source, total production maintenance and supplier network.
1. Flexible Resources
The Concept of flexible resources, in the form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Small lots with shorter setup times reduced from hour to minuet and it s increase flexibility to
respond to demand changes. Shingo as a genius at the task reduced setup time on a 1000 ton press
from 6 hours to 3 minuets using SMED ( single minute exchange of dies ) system. SMED principle
can apply in separate internal setup from external setup. Its also can convert internal setup to
external setup. Besides that, it can streamline all aspect of setup and perform setup activities in
parallel or eliminate them entirely. 7. Uniform Production
JIT attempt to maintain uniform production levels by smoothing the production requirements on
the final assembly line. Changes in final assembly always have dramatic effects on component
production upstream. When this happen in kanban , kanban for certain part will circulate very
quickly at some times and very slowly at others. Kanban systems can handle +/ 10% demand
changes. One way to reduce variability in production is to guard against unexpected demand
through more accurate forecasts. Another approach to achieving uniform production is to level or
smooth demand across the planning horizon. Demand is divided into small increments of time so
that the same amount of each item is produced each day and item is mixed throughout the day in
small quantities. 8. Quality at the Source
Quality has to be extremely high to ensure JIT system to work well. Jidoka is the authority to stop
production line. Visual

1. The Americas began as the New World , where European settlers arrived to the foreign land
carrying their beliefs, religion and philosophy. They called it the new beginning, despite Natives
already occupying the land. People from Europe hoped to move into the colonies in the Americas
for religious freedom and to better their lives through promises of more land, property, and
profitability. However, the settlers ignorance of the land and its environment led them to be faced
with many trials and tribulations upon their arrival, weakening the idea of the promising New

It wasn t the best settlement, but it was the first nonetheless. Jamestown s mortality rate was high
very because the colonists would often times catch diseases and hydrate themselves from
unhealthy water sources. It was a swampland after all. Starvation was a huge factor in their death
toll as well. Colonists would eat each other for survival as there were low food sources and they
couldn t grow much due to bad soil. By 1616, about eighty percent of the colonists that settled there
had died.
However, in 1619, the first slaves from Africa sat foot in the Jamestown, Virginia. Since
Jamestown was in a decaying state, changes needed to occur. Tobacco was a major crop to grow
but the colonists of Jamestown did not have enough man power to harvest it all. In order to
stabilize the economy, the Virginians required heavy labor. Slaves from Africa were sold as
indentured servants; person that worked for several years but then was granted freedom after their
servitude. Since the Virginians relied on the growth of corn for grain and tobacco to feed and fund
the growth of their population, the Europeans relied on the slave tactics from Africa in order
increase their efficiency in agriculture.
Although Europeans based their views on slavery from the Africans, the treatment of slaves in the
Americas were far worse than the treatment of slaves in Africa. Due to the fact that the Europeans
could not enslave the Native Americans due to their

Pros And Cons Of Lowering The Drinking Age
Your daughter is driving home one Friday evening, after a late shift working at the local
hospital. It s dark out, and suddenly headlights are coming towards her. Before she has time to
avoid the oncoming car, she gets hit head on. The cops appear at the scene she is pronounced
dead the other driver, an eighteen year old, is transported to the hospital in handcuffs: arrested for
drunk driving, and illegal consumption of alcohol. Now you are left without a daughter. Forever
devastated by the loss, your families lives have been changed forever. Accidents like these occur
and leave families in shambles, and the number of these accidents would be much higher if the
legal drinking agewas lowered to eighteen years old. By keeping the drinking age at twenty one
years old we would efficiently reduce the number of these tragic accidents. The minimum legal
drinking age (MLDA) is a controversial issue over whether or not it should be lowered to the
age of eighteen. It is shown that keeping the MLDA of twenty one would benefit society in
multiple ways. A MLDA of twenty one was historically shown to be better than an age of
eighteen, by showing it saved lives. A drinking age of twenty one also proves to be more beneficial
for the adolescent brain, would change college drinking, and would reduce the number of drunk
driving accidents. While many students think lowering the minimum legal drinking age (MLDA)
to eighteen would be a good idea, it would actually destroy lives, brain

127 Hours Theory
In this essay, I will examine 127 Hours and it s representation of the real life event of getting
trapped in a canyon without any sort of communication to the outside world and without the
acknowledgment of family and friends. I will use the analysis of behaviour for Aron Ralston during
his trap to bring forth the films objective for promoting continuous faith in one s self,
courageousness and insurance of safety through proper communication. Such evaluation will be
done through the usage of theories of Gombrich s cognitive versus affective belief that states the
difference between sayings and actions, and Freud s psychoanalytic theory of ritual and neurosis
that places repetitive behaviours as those of neurotics to withdraw from reality.... Show more

Gombrich sheds light on the fact that people tend to show differences in what they claim to
believe and what they act upon. His theory, cognitive versus affective belief, takes into account
behaviour and the mind to prove opposition between believed ideas and actions thus showing
that actions can be as meaningful as faith. In 127 Hours, after being trapped in the canyon for
multiple days with barely enough food and water, Aron carves RIP 75 03 ARON RALSTON on
the walls after recording an introduction of himself and his situation with his camera. Yet, Aron
still aims to preserve his food and, especially, water up until he ran out and had to resort to
cutting his arm off to rescue himself. Aron itching such a phrase reflects his cognitive belief that
he will die stuck in the canyon. Also, it symbolizes mental relinquishing and the vanishing of
hope since it represents his tombstone. Furthermore, the fact that the first few sentences Aron
records since his fall into the canyon consist of a plea to send the camera to his family also
constitute to his cognitive belief of death. However, his cognitive belief does not match with his
actions while being trapped, his affective belief. Instead of completely giving up through the
consumption of all his sustenance and waiting for death, Aron fights to survive by carefully
monitoring his food and water intakes. As well as that, Aron s constant trails of escape and
methods of keeping himself warm in the cold nights disprove his cognitive belief of giving into
death as his affective belief is centered not only on survival but also escaping alive and adapting to
his current environment. Of course, Aron s affective belief in this case is heavily influenced by
human instinct, but Aron goes a higher level regarding his need for survival when he cuts his arm
off to escape. Even though

The Importance Of I Love America In America
I love America, I love Americans one of my best friends is American and I have been over there
on 7 or 8 occasions. I love the American way of life, their attitudes, their hospitable nature, and I
love their petrol prices ВЈ1.20 a gallon last time I was there!!! On top of their lifestyle, they have
some spectacular scenery and some awesome theme parks not to mention maple syrup and peanut
butterand jello!! Plain and simple I want to be American, and one day I would loveto live there.
My first experience of flying was in 1983 when my parents took me to Malta. It was sunny,
warm, a little disconcerting but VERY exciting. I found although I did not know where I was,I
was capable of easily orienting myself and therefore became very comfortable very quickly.
Malta, I found a little boring, but it gave me a need to travel. A longing that 15 years later I
would have the financial security to fulfil (although a few years ago I had to put my travelling
shoes away and my suitcase in the loft a whole new article:)).
The first place I flew to in America was Texas. This was in August 1999. The reason for going
was...erm...complicated a whole other article again! I landed at around 2pm after 7 or 8 hours,
but I love flying, so it really wasn t a problem. My first adventure in America, but I d already
decided it wouldn t be my last. I flew into Dallas, but needed to be in Paris a 2 hour taxi ride away.

Gaucher Disease Types I, II, IIi
Gaucher Disease Types I, II, III
Gaucher Disease is a type of lysosomal storage disorder. The importance is that they are meant to
keep everything in order. Lysosomes are microscopic organelles that have a primary function to
serve as digestion compartments. According to Davidson, (1) lysosomes help break down many
different materials such as fats, proteins, waste products, and more to transfer those compounds to
become new cell building materials . Consequentially, making lysosomes an important factor to our
daily functions in life. Lysosomal storage diseases form due to the modification of lysosomal
enzymes. The diseases can be metabolically inherited through gene mutation. In Lysosomal Storage

In fact type two and three effect the brain and spinal cord becoming very serious. In contrast,
Type three is not as quick to become evident in young children. Similar to type one, type three
can show up later in childhood, and take longer to progress into worse symptoms. Sadly, infants
that are proscribed with type two disease normally don t live to see the age of three. Type two
disease quickly takes effect over a person, not allowing the chance for growth into adulthood.
The most severe Gaucher s disease is Perinatal lethal, which can kill an infant in a matter of days
after being born. The causes for Perinatal lethal, according to Web MD (3) are, too much fluid in
baby s body before or after being born, dry skin, enlarged liver and spleen, and severe brain and
spinal cord problems. Because of these problems an infant will not be capable of having much of a
chance to grow and mature, due to the weakness of being a fragile newborn.
Ages that symptoms begin, normally vary due to what type of disorder the person has. The main
problem with lysosome diseases are that they are genetically inherited. Which means, that mothers
and fathers genetically carry some type of disorder and pass it down to their children. Because of
this being caused by genetics, symptoms will normally begin based upon what type of disorder that
is inherited. Which makes it hard to know at what age symptoms will

Dualist Vs Monist
The chapter begins with explaining the two ways to view the relationship between domestic and

dualists believe that, international and domestic law govern different actors and issues. Each state

It Is Estimated That About 17% Of The Worldwide Population
It is estimated that about 17% of the worldwide population is at risk of developing zinc
deficiency (Wessells KR and Brown KH 2012 7). Zinc as a biologically essential micronutrient, is
important for a proper functioning of human and animals. The human body contains 2 3 g of zinc
located mainly in the muscle and bone (Vela G. 2015 2015:972791). In the brain, the highest levels

(Tamano H. 2009 55,536 541; Whittle N. 2009 36(1):147 58). Studies performed in rats showed
that dietary zinc deficiency induces anhedonia, social impairments and anxiety like behavior,

Sousa created a marching band that was organized like the European marching band. The music
makes me feel exciting like I am at a parade, and they have a marching band perform this song.
Third Hearing
A marching band of numerous brass instruments (piccolos, flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons,
saxophones, trumpets, coronets, euphoniums, trombones, Sousaphones, tubas and percussion) are
being played throughout the song and creating a marching beat of duple meter.

Second Selection: Le bananier Louis Moreau Gottschalk
First Hearing
Showy, admirable, dark
Second Hearing
The composer wrote this charming piece of music because he knows the audience likes showy
pieces. It was based on the appeal of tunes he heard during his childhood. I enjoy the sound of the
piano being played, and I loved how the composer uses it to make this very admirable piece.
Third Hearing
This beautiful sound of music is being played by a piano. The piano was an excellent choice of
instrument because it brings the sound of tunes that the audience enjoys.
The dynamics is loud then it changes to louder at parts. When I first listen to it, it made me jump a
little due to the fact it caught me off guard.
The tempo is fast throughout the song.
The tone color is dark in a way that is exciting.
The harmony has both minor and major key being played. Minor keys are being played first then in
the middle of the song, the pianist used the major keys.

Moodity Definition Essay
Literary texts can be divided into commodities and non commodities based on whether or not their
messages are benefitting the author directly. If a work is created to sell an ideal that may not
benefit the author immediately, it often has a larger impact on society, and it becomes a
commodity. However, if the work brings in any monetary value or help to its author, it is no longer
a commoditybecause it profited its creator. Because this can vary due to the use of the text by
others, literature can become a commodity to different degrees thanks to the interpretation of the
work by their audience. The term commodity itself, as coined by Marx, has a very broad definition.
The commodity is, first of all, an external object, a thing which... Show more content on

John Lennon, through his music, spread his view of the importance of world peace. He was
able to gain many followers to his movement and impact the world of music and politics through
his music. John Lennon himself was wealthy and did not need to spend his time and energy on
trying to better life for the less fortunate. Because he was actually able to send out his message
and effectively create rallies and movements in response to his views, his listeners made his
music a commodity. However, though his music was able to do a lot of good, it also was the
reason he was incredibly wealthy. Through his social status because of his wealth, he was able to
spread his message. His listeners, in order to hear his message, would buy his music and feed
into his fame and fortune. This defies the definition of commodity because his literature, or his
music, was also very beneficial to himself. Though his listeners used it to create political
awareness of the need for peace, he also used it to keep his name famous and to keep his income
steady. This complicates his music as defined as a commodity, and shows that an audience can give
something use value and make it a commodity at the same

Analysis Of Boo Radley
He just might be watching all the townspeople through their windows. Staring in the dark night.
All anyone knows of him is what they have heard through rumors. Is all the gossip true, or is
Boo Radley just a tall tale? In literature, authors use dynamic characters to leave readers asking
questions and wanting more. Similar to how Harper Lee uses Boo Radley in her novel, To Kill a
Mockingbird, to display tension throughout the story, by having him slowly transform from an
ominous monster, to a true mystery, and eventually, a hero. From the start of the novel, Boo is
automatically perceived as a horrific beast that preys on the innocent people of Maycomb
County, yet everything anyone knows of the man is based off speculation. For instance, the
narrator provides her questionable knowledge of Boo when she informs readers that he is, a
malevolent phantom that is auspiciously known for lurking in the night to [peep] in [residents]
windows (Lee 10). If this rumor about Boo is true, readers should have a growing concern for all
the people in the town, especially because no one has a clue what Boo s appearance resembles.
He has not left his home in the light of day for countless years. This man could be real trouble.
Later, rumors seem to be confirmed by town gossip, Miss Stephanie Crawford when she recalls a
time when she awoke in the middle of the night to find Boo s skull of a face staring right at her
through her window (Lee 16). Even though Miss Stephanie is known to be

Have you ever done something for a friend or just a random person in general? Well that is a
random act of kindness! A random act of kindness could be as simple as holding a door open, or
helping someone with groceries. Well yes those are very simple and they are not hard, but there
are also just more than that. Every day there are 30 percent of homeless people out on the streets
wanting some money. Some people are kind and give them money and food! Random acts of
kindness are not just for homeless people, they are for rich, poor, and maybe in the middle

American Slavery American Freedom Summary
In reviewing the book American Slavery, American Freedom, historian and author Edmund S.
Morgan provides a chronological approach to the growth of slavery in North America. Morgan
starts his journey with the first settlements in Virginia and continues until the start of the American
Revolution. Morgan gives explanation of how ideals of freedom and English sense of superiority
came to be a major stepping stone for independence and racism. Morgan s question of how a
country that proclaims liberty, equality and religious virtue can at the same time foster the
opposing ideals of slaveryand subjugation is the underlying question throughout the book. Morgan
puts the critical issue on display, broken down into four areas or books, to guide our understanding
of colonial Virginia, the development of slavery, and the link between racism and equality.
This highly regarded and scholarly book examines the fundamental paradox of freedom and the
establishment of slavery in American history. The central question posed by Morgan is how a
people could have developed the dedication to human liberty and dignity exhibited by the leaders
of the American Revolution and at the same time have developed and maintained a system of
labor that denied human liberty and dignity every hour of the day (Morgan 1975, 4 5). The
location in Morgan s research is colonial Virginia, once the largest slave state and home of
proponents of liberty. Morgan s detailed discussion of: the rise of race slavery over indentured
servants and poor Englishmen as the solution to workforce growth, a ruling class bound to the
English tradition of superiority, and acceptance of lifelong denial of human equality in the face of
the fight for liberty demonstrates the paradox for the reader.
While the first two sections of the book provide the historical context of the settling of the Virginia
colony, the last two demonstrate Morgan s theory of how racism was developed to ensure a
sustainable workforce. The rise of the labor theory demonstrates how slavery itself became a
necessary business venture in Virginia while at the same time justified the Revolutionary concepts
of liberty and equality for all white men. The belief that only the men, or white Englishmen

Being A Medical Assistant Essay
To begin, medical assistants can be overlooked in a medical office because some health care
professionals may not understand what a medical assistant can do. According to TachГ© and
Chapman (2005), Many physicians are unsure of what tasks are appropriate to assign to an MA
and do not help MAs work to their full abilities and potential (p. 51). Medical Assistant are a great
asset to a medical office because the medical assistant can perform administrative, clinical, and
laboratorytasks. For instance, a medical assistant can perform an array of administrative tasks
ranging from answering phone calls to bookkeeping. The medical assistant can handle to front desk
operations including answering phones, greeting patients, and scheduling appointments. The front
desk operations can be trying at times because the medical assistant is the first professional a
patient sees upon entering the medical office. The medical assistant is the face of the medical
office and sets the attitude for the office at the very beginning. If a medical assistant does not
complete the job correctly, efficiently, and with politeness the patient can go from happy to upset.
While answering the phones in a medical office a medical assistant must be well mannered,
compassionate and willing to answer all the questions a patient may have. If a medical assistant was
to become irritable the patient may become upset too and cause more harm than good for the
patient and the medical office. Another important task

What Are The Main Features Of Local Government Act 1979
Provincial Local Government Ordinance 1979
This period marked the second wave of local government reform a military regime. The system of
local government introduced in 1979 by General Zia ul Haq was the most representative in nature
since independence. For the first time in the history of Pakistan, elections to all local councils in
both rural and urban areas were held simultaneously on the basis of adult franchise and under the
aegis of independent provincial election authorities.
Features of Provincial Local Government Ordinance:
The special features of the 1979 local government system can be described as follows:

The local bodies were made independent from the bureaucracy under the Local Government
Ordinance of 1979.
The local bodies were vested with administrative, judicial and financial powers to make them
effective institutions.
They were authorized to get loans from national and international Banks to complete their plans for
the people s development.
The elections of local governments were held on non party basis.
The local governments were dependent upon the provinces from senior appointments to the request
for more resources or permission to increase taxes and rates.
The budgets of the local governments were also to be approved by the provincial governments. It

Sweetness Of The Belly By Camilla Gibb
Sweetness in the Belly by Camilla Gibb
Sweetness in the Belly by Camilla Gibb is a moving, heart warming tale about a young woman,
who suffers from insecurity and self identity through a world where she is considered an outsider.
The novel s protagonist is Lilly Abdal, born to British vagabonds as she is left in the hands of the
Great Sufi Abdal, who raises her to become a white, devout Muslim woman in East Morocco. The
author seamlessly weaves in Dr. Aziz, an Ethiopian man who creates sparks in Lilly s heart, only
to be separated once Lilly s embarks to London, England. Camilla Gibb takes the tale of an outcast,
spun with religious beliefs and morals, to create a powerful story that challenges and uplights the
reader s mentality on religion and what it means to follow religious and cultural traditions.
Lilly, born in London, England was raised by a Sufi, the Great Abdal after the murder of her
parents in Morocco. She lived in a Muslim shrine for ten years under the influence of the Great
Abdal, adopting his surname, legally becoming his daughter. In her years of learning the Qur an,
Great Abdal undertakes an Ethiopian orphan named Hussein, whom he adopts as a son. Due to
the political upheavals in Morocco, the Great Abdal sends Lilly and Hussein on a spiritual hajj
/pilgrimage across the Sahara desert to the ancient holy city of Harar, at the age of sixteen years.
The Abdal recommends them to the shelter of a fellow sheikh/Sufi, however he does not accept

Using A Microscope And View Living Cells
Using a microscope to view living cells
Introduction
Living cells are the most basic unit of life, however, they are impossible to see without the
magnification of a microscope. There are different types of microscopes with alterations to serve a
specific function, but the general use is the same. It is a tool invented with a curved lense that
magnifies things that cannot be seen with the naked eye. A microscopecan be used to see many
things, in this particular lab they were used to observe cells of different organisms. We began by
looking at a few sample slides of euglena, salmonella, and lilium and recording our observations.
Then we created the slides ourselves with living matter. The first set of cells that we looked at
were onion cells, which we looked at by gathering a sample of onion epidermis from one of the
onion s layers and creating a slide to be placed on the stage of the microscope. Next, we took a
look at human cheek cells by obtaining a sample and again creating a slide by swabbing the inside
of a mouth with a toothpick. Finally, we looked at pond water by creating a slide with a small
amount that was collected in a dropper.
Purpose
The purpose of this lab was to gain more knowledge on the use of lab equipment, focusing
principally on the microscope by observing a variety of cells underneath its magnifying lense at
different levels of objective power and recording those observations.

Sigmund Freud s Adventure
Have you ever heard of Sigmund Freud? If not then, he is the one who is well known as the
father of Psychoanalysis. Freud was one of the modern day psychologist, he prepared a
technique for understanding the human behavior, and the effort resulted a complete theory of
personality and psychotherapy ever developed. Freud is the firstborn in his family of three boys
and five girls. He was born in Freiberg, a rural town near Ostrau in northwestern Moravia. Freud
had many interests in his early age, because of his Jewish heritage his choices to pick a career
were limited. Freud was the one who continued to modify his theory for a long period of time.
Psychoanalysis is focuses on the unconscious aspects of personality. Freud thinks that our brain is

iceberg, which we could see, but the unconscious was the hidden part beneath the water. Freud
theories have three levels of awareness: the conscious, the preconscious, and the unconscious. Freud
also divided the personality structure into three components id, ego, and superego, which has

The Threat Against Sea Turtles
There are over 1 million known species of plants and animals that in habit the plant s oceans, and
scientist estimate that there are over 9 million more species that have yet to be discovered. Those
numbers seem to have great value, but when put in perspective there are only 7 species of sea
turtles in the vast ocean, those numbers don t seem so big after all. Even more so when you say
all 7 species are on the endangered list of extinction. One of the biggest threat against seaturtles, and
all other oceanic life, is the pollution crisis of plastics, glass, and all other trash. But as long as
people dump their trash in the oceans, and it doesn t violate the government s dumping regulations,
then it s perfectly http://i.imgur.com/foQcVja.jpg legal. Without breaking any laws, people will
always continue to do it and the ocean will continue to suffer because of it. On the other side of
dumping trash into the oceans scientist are gathering huge amounts of data on how we re killing
the oceans and everything that lives in it. That is why we must come to our senses and use the
common ground of finding a new way to dispose of trash and help rebuild the oceans to sustain life
on the planet. When it comes to pollution in the oceans people automatically think that they re
talking about glass, trash, and plastic. However, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric

Burn Injury Research Paper
Living With a Burn Injury
The number of burns that require medical attention in the United States are 1.1 million every year.
Burns are injuries caused either by heat, chemicals, sunlight, radiation, or electricity (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, (n.d.). Statistics show most burn injuries for women and children
occur in the home and for men they typically occur at the workplace. They are classified as first,
second, or third degree, usually by how deep and severely they breach the skins surface (World
Health Organization, (2017, January). It s important to know the signs and symptoms of a burn
injury to ensure the right kind of medical treatment is provided.
Classifications
First degree burns only cause damage to the outer layer of the skin also known as the epidermis.
Second degree burn damage extends as far as the dermis layer, which is the layer beneath the
epidermis (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (n.d.). These burns sometimes will need a
skin graft to enclose the area and protect it while in the healing process. After having damaged or
completely destroyed both the top two layers of the skin, a third degree burn extends past the hair
follicles and sweat glands causing damage to the underlying tissue. These kinds of burns will

Iqbal Masih As A Hero In Francesco DAdamos
Iqbal Masih, the hero that heroes look up to. Heroes are not people that have adequate, if not

just physically, but also mentally. In Francesco D Adamos, Iqbal, Iqbal Masih is the protagonist
of the novel and he is shown as the redeemer of child labor. He is truly a heroas he possesses all the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pyrite
Iron disulfide (FeS2) is the chemical formula for the mineral pyrite. This mineral has long been
described and prevalent in modern and ancient history. Pyrite s name originates from the Greek
for fire, which is pyr . The Roman author Pliny the Elder described a stone which is thought to be
pyrite. He described a stone used for grindstone, which would readily fire sparks or sulfur. He also
commented on the heft, its resemblance to brass or copper, and its porosity. A Greek physician
called pyritean ore of copper, due to the brassy look, but also commented on the sparks the mineral
gave. Many of the early descriptions of pyrite included similar easily confused minerals such as
chalcopyrite, marcasite, and pyrrhotite. (Dana, 1982)
The yellow color and metallic luster of pyrite lead many people to misidentify the mineral as
gold. This confusion gives rise to pyrite s nickname of fool s gold , however, there are many
physical differences between pyrite and gold. For instance, they differ in crystal form, density, and
hardness. Native gold forms in distinct nuggets, is much denser and has a lower hardness than
pyrite.
Pyrite is distinguished based on its metallic luster and pale brass yellow color, which can tarnish

Failure In Conversations With God
You are the creator of your own reality, and life can show up in no other way for you than the way
in which you think it will.
Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue by Neal Walsh
Failure has commonly been seen as something people do not want to face, as the worst someone
can confront. The society we live in today has directly related failure to negative thoughts and
disappointment, being one of the main reasons for surrendering on one s dreams or goals. It was
only through a harsh experience that I learned that failure is strictly the contrary to the pre
established ideas given by society. It is the most effective motivator and the most beautiful sign
of a bright future to come. It represents having tried, which is the first and most important step
that needs to be taken in order to achieve our goals. It serves as a mean to acquire the most
valuable information of what was rightfully done and what needs to be improved in order to
succeed. It all comes down to the way in which each and every one of us decides to use the failures
we face, because they can either lead us to our own self surrender ... Show more content on

And that is all there really is, one s choice on how to view or use the abilities and qualities we have,
as well as the knowledge and lessons we come to learn. Because our future and our
accomplishments do not rely on the world we face or the society we live in, they don t come from
our ability to be the best and always succeed, but from the capacity to acknowledge that with
whatever we are and whatever we have, is more than

Biological And Humanistic Approach To Personality
Biological and Humanistic ApproachePersonality is distinctive characteristics inherited and
uniquely possessed by each individual. It makes us very different in our emotions, thought
patterns, as well as our behaviors. The Creator God has given each of us a sense of uniqueness
and there is no one else like us. It means that there is a particular characteristic in our personality
that will describe who we are. As we studied personality, we found out there are eight crucial
aspects in which will help us to grasp the meaning of an individual s complex nature. Maslow
(1982) wrote in his journal about his self actualized friends, all at the top yet all limited; the top
are far from perfect (p. 328). In this paper, the discussion is about... Show more content on

When it came to the nature of human beings, it was best to be optimistic because the focus is
primarily on the ability of human beings having conscious and rational thinking. This way
individual would be able to achieve full potential and control biological urges. The viewpoint of
the humanistic theory is every person is responsible for his or her life and actions; they have a free
will to change their behavior and attitude. The biological theory relates the internal organs namely
the brain and genes that human beings have not controlled over. The humanistic approach fails to
show the evil side of individuals life.
Eysenck belief was the primary determinate of personality is genetics. All in all, if certain aspects
of personality are indeed based on biologically induced temperament, then we should expect to see
such differences in all cultures. Indeed, the introversion extroversion dimension does seem to
appear worldwide (Eysenck, 1990, p.

Why Did The Moon Landing Conspiracy
Jade Brown
Mr. Bergmann
Senior English B2
31 March 2015
Moon landing conspiracy
In 1969 NASA decided to send Apollo 11 astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael
Collins. Armstrong was the first to step foot on the moon, the other two came later. These moments
were captured on television cameras by Eagle. Armstrong took moon samples and photographs as
soon as he landed on the moon. The conspiracy theory claims that the elements of the moon
landings were hoaxes by NASA with other organization. The public made conspiracy claims since
the 1970s and claim that NASA and others knowingly faked the whole moon landing by
manufacturing, tampering with, or destroying evidence including pictures, tapes, radio and
television transmissions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2009 the American patriot friend s network claimed that the landings helped the U.S.
government use the landings to distract the public from the Vietnam War. The landings ended
around the same time as the U.S. ended its involvement with the war. It is proven that the moon
landings was in no relation to the end of U.S. involvement in Vietnam. Many conspiracies claim
that the landings did not happen and that NASA employees have lied or say that the landings did
happen but not in the way that has been told. The public s whole idea was that the whole moon
landing program was a hoax from the beginning. Some claim that the technology that sends men to
the moon was lacking or that the solar flares or wind made the trip impossible. Conspiracists
claim the landing are a hoax because of the photos and films, the environment, mechanical issues,
and transmissions. Conspiracists look mostly at the pictures and films that were taken from the
moon. They point out oddities. They say in some pictures, crosshairs seem to be behind objects
which is a sign of the picture being cropped or rotated for aesthetic impact. The pictures quality
seems to be implausibly high by many poor quality photos taken by the Apollo astronauts and used
high resolution. Lastly the conspiracists say that the photos are a hoax because there are no stars in

Chg Oral Hygiene
In a stratified RCT, Tantipong, Morkchareonpong, Jaiyindee, Thamlikitkul (2008) conducted a
study to compare the use of CHG and normal saline for oral care. Patients in the CHG group
received care using 15 ml of 2% CHG, the use of tooth brushing, and suctioning up to four times
per day (Tantipong et al., 2008). The normal saline group used the same procedure as the CHG
group, but with the difference of using normal saline instead of CHG. The results of this study
were that 4.9% or 5 out of 102 patients in the CHG group developed VAP and 11.4% or 12 out of
105 patients in the normal saline group developed VAP (Tantipong et al., 2008). The study
concluded that using 2% CHG solution for oral hygienewas proven to be effective in preventing...

Sodium bicarbonate is essentially baking soda, and it has the capability to help remove mucus
and release any kind of debris that aggregates in the oral cavity (Berry, 2013). Sodium
bicarbonate also has the ability to prevent the buildup of bacteria in the oral cavity and it increases
the pH or the oral cavity (Berry, 2013). The Listerine group received 20 ml of the mouthwashtwo
times a day while using sterile water every two hours for the duration of the time (Berry, 2013).
The sterile water group received oral rinses with 20 ml of sterile water every two hours, and the
other group received sodium bicarbonate oral rinse mixed with sterile water every two hours. In
this study, all groups had tooth brushing performed three times a day (Berry, 2013). The study
concluded that out of the 127 participants in the Listerine group, about 4.7% developed VAP, 4.5%
in the sodium bicarbonate group developed VAP, and 4.3% in the sterile water group (Berry,
2013). The study resulted in no difference between the use of Listerine and sodium bicarbonate
related to the development of VAP (Berry, 2013). Berry (2013) concludes that Sodium bicarbonate
and Listerine use is no more effective in the prevention of VAP than the control group using sterile

Cheering During High School
During high school basketball games you mostly hear just the parents cheering and yelling.
However, the few lucky home players sometimes get the experience of having a student section
cheering them on. I have been on both ends of the student section: cheering in one and playing
while one is cheering you on. Both are extremely fun and great to experience.
It was a chilly February night in Maine at my high school. The varsity boys and girls teams were
playing on the same night at home which is very rare and this night was even more rare
considering it was senior night(the seniors last home game). Unfortunately, my team had to play
first. Some people might like playing first but when you play second more fans tend to show up
creating a better

  • 2. Classical Management Theorists Frederick Taylor and Henri Fayol were both theorists of the classical management movement. The classical approach was the framework to what management is all about. Therefore it can be said that they laid the foundation for many theorists. Frederick Taylor was an important theorist of the early 20th century and he made many important contributions to management. He proposed the principles of scientific management which he believed would improve industrial efficiency. He believed management could be formulated as a discipline. Taylor s principles of scientific management focused on cooperation between management and the workers as well as improving the technical skills of the workers (Hodgetts, 1995). His approach is often referred to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is an almost equal division of work and responsibility between the management and the workmen. The management takes over all the work they are better fitted than the workmen, while in the past almost all of the work and the greater part of the responsibility were thrown upon the men. (Hodgetts, 1995). Taylor s scientific management focused on increasing productivity, whereas Fayol s administrative management theory focuses on ways to make the organisation more effective and efficient. Scientific management focused on employees as individuals and their tasks, general administrative management theory dealt with total management organization. According to Pindur Rogers, 1995, General management theory was a much broader theory concerned with administrative management functions and is considered the forerunner of modern organization theory. For Henri Fayol, management was not so much as a way of devising systems to increase productivity but it was concerned with the integration of the different functions of the organisation such as production, sales, finance and so on (Wren, 1994). According to Fayol the success of an organization depended more on the administrative skills of the manager than on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Corporate Social Veil And Limited Liability I. Introduction In recent times, there has been an increased incidence among large scale business organizations to structure their operations through the form of corporate groups, with many domestic and international subsidiaries, wholly owned or otherwise, with the corporate veil ensuring that each of these enjoy separate corporate legal personality and limited liability. The existence of these corporate groups , with subsidiary companies being heavily controlled by their parent companies, have necessitated interpretations and applications of existing corporate legal principles to this novel context, even in case of the basic tenets of corporate law. The circumstances associated with corporate veil piercing, through detailed consideration of conditions to treating holding and subsidiary companies as one legal unit, with associated civil liabilities, is also an issue of heated debate. This report considers the significance and implications of the concepts of corporate legal personality, corporate veil and limited liability in the setting of corporate groups. Additionally, there is an attempt to critically explore and evaluate the corporate civil liability of corporate groups, under the circumstances of statutory corporate veil piercing, with specific examination of the legal principles applied by courts to justify such an action to protect creditors. No other species has had such a huge impact on the world compared to that of humans. Being able to manipulate the environment to better suit their needs, but for every action there is an opposite and sometimes an even greater consequence. Many signs point to a great extinctionoccurring at this moment and it has correlation with the beginning of the Homo sapiens expansion, more increasingly with the rise of the Industrial Era. Humanhands have managed to touch every species on earth in one shape or another, and there is nowhere for them to escape to. This great extinction, though not to the magnitude of the five previous mass extinctions has the potential to rival them. The sixth mass extinction has its origin starting back to roughly 100,000 years known as the Holocene Event (Lawrence, 2011). This is also around the time that humans began to expand out of Africa, and into the Asian and European continents. Leaving there foot prints on the land and the negative effects on the animals they encountered. JIT was well established in many Japanese factories by the early 1970 s. JIT began to be adopted in the U.S. in the 1980 s (General Electric was an early adopter), and the JIT/lean concepts are now widely accepted and used. There have ten basic elements in Just In time which are flexible resource, efficient facility layout, pull production system, Kanban production control, small lot production, quick setup, uniform production, quality at the source, total production maintenance and supplier network. 1. Shingo as a genius at the task reduced setup time on a 1000 ton press from 6 hours to 3 minuets using SMED ( single minute exchange of dies ) system. SMED principle can apply in separate internal setup from external setup. Its also can convert internal setup to external setup. Besides that, it can streamline all aspect of setup and perform setup activities in parallel or eliminate them entirely. 7. Uniform Production JIT attempt to maintain uniform production levels by smoothing the production requirements on the final assembly line. Changes in final assembly always have dramatic effects on component production upstream. When this happen in kanban , kanban for certain part will circulate very quickly at some times and very slowly at others. Kanban systems can handle +/ 10% demand changes. One way to reduce variability in production is to guard against unexpected demand through more accurate forecasts. Another approach to achieving uniform production is to level or smooth demand across the planning horizon. Demand is divided into small increments of time so that the same amount of each item is produced each day and item is mixed throughout the day in small quantities. 8. The cops appear at the scene she is pronounced dead the other driver, an eighteen year old, is transported to the hospital in handcuffs: arrested for drunk driving, and illegal consumption of alcohol. Now you are left without a daughter. Forever devastated by the loss, your families lives have been changed forever. Accidents like these occur and leave families in shambles, and the number of these accidents would be much higher if the legal drinking agewas lowered to eighteen years old. By keeping the drinking age at twenty one years old we would efficiently reduce the number of these tragic accidents. The minimum legal drinking age (MLDA) is a controversial issue over whether or not it should be lowered to the age of eighteen. It is shown that keeping the MLDA of twenty one would benefit society in multiple ways. A MLDA of twenty one was historically shown to be better than an age of eighteen, by showing it saved lives. A drinking age of twenty one also proves to be more beneficial for the adolescent brain, would change college drinking, and would reduce the number of drunk driving accidents. I will use the analysis of behaviour for Aron Ralston during his trap to bring forth the films objective for promoting continuous faith in one s self, courageousness and insurance of safety through proper communication. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gombrich sheds light on the fact that people tend to show differences in what they claim to believe and what they act upon. His theory, cognitive versus affective belief, takes into account behaviour and the mind to prove opposition between believed ideas and actions thus showing that actions can be as meaningful as faith. In 127 Hours, after being trapped in the canyon for multiple days with barely enough food and water, Aron carves RIP 75 03 ARON RALSTON on the walls after recording an introduction of himself and his situation with his camera. Yet, Aron still aims to preserve his food and, especially, water up until he ran out and had to resort to cutting his arm off to rescue himself. Aron itching such a phrase reflects his cognitive belief that he will die stuck in the canyon. Also, it symbolizes mental relinquishing and the vanishing of hope since it represents his tombstone. Furthermore, the fact that the first few sentences Aron records since his fall into the canyon consist of a plea to send the camera to his family also constitute to his cognitive belief of death. However, his cognitive belief does not match with his actions while being trapped, his affective belief. Instead of completely giving up through the consumption of all his sustenance and waiting for death, Aron fights to survive by carefully monitoring his food and water intakes. As well as that, Aron s constant trails of escape and methods of keeping himself warm in the cold nights disprove his cognitive belief of giving into death as his affective belief is centered not only on survival but also escaping alive and adapting to his current environment. Of course, Aron s affective belief in this case is heavily influenced by human instinct, but Aron goes a higher level regarding his need for survival when he cuts his arm off to escape. Type two disease quickly takes effect over a person, not allowing the chance for growth into adulthood. The most severe Gaucher s disease is Perinatal lethal, which can kill an infant in a matter of days after being born. The causes for Perinatal lethal, according to Web MD (3) are, too much fluid in baby s body before or after being born, dry skin, enlarged liver and spleen, and severe brain and spinal cord problems. Because of these problems an infant will not be capable of having much of a chance to grow and mature, due to the weakness of being a fragile newborn. It Is Estimated That About 17% Of The Worldwide Population It is estimated that about 17% of the worldwide population is at risk of developing zinc deficiency (Wessells KR and Brown KH 2012 7). Zinc as a biologically essential micronutrient, is important for a proper functioning of human and animals. The human body contains 2 3 g of zinc located mainly in the muscle and bone (Vela G. 2015 2015:972791). • 21. Moodity Definition Essay Literary texts can be divided into commodities and non commodities based on whether or not their messages are benefitting the author directly. If a work is created to sell an ideal that may not benefit the author immediately, it often has a larger impact on society, and it becomes a commodity. However, if the work brings in any monetary value or help to its author, it is no longer a commoditybecause it profited its creator. Because this can vary due to the use of the text by others, literature can become a commodity to different degrees thanks to the interpretation of the work by their audience. The term commodity itself, as coined by Marx, has a very broad definition. The commodity is, first of all, an external object, a thing which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John Lennon, through his music, spread his view of the importance of world peace. He was able to gain many followers to his movement and impact the world of music and politics through his music. John Lennon himself was wealthy and did not need to spend his time and energy on trying to better life for the less fortunate. Because he was actually able to send out his message and effectively create rallies and movements in response to his views, his listeners made his music a commodity. However, though his music was able to do a lot of good, it also was the reason he was incredibly wealthy. Through his social status because of his wealth, he was able to spread his message. His listeners, in order to hear his message, would buy his music and feed into his fame and fortune. This defies the definition of commodity because his literature, or his music, was also very beneficial to himself. Though his listeners used it to create political awareness of the need for peace, he also used it to keep his name famous and to keep his income steady. This complicates his music as defined as a commodity, and shows that an audience can give something use value and make it a commodity at the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is all the gossip true, or is Boo Radley just a tall tale? In literature, authors use dynamic characters to leave readers asking questions and wanting more. Similar to how Harper Lee uses Boo Radley in her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, to display tension throughout the story, by having him slowly transform from an ominous monster, to a true mystery, and eventually, a hero. From the start of the novel, Boo is automatically perceived as a horrific beast that preys on the innocent people of Maycomb County, yet everything anyone knows of the man is based off speculation. For instance, the narrator provides her questionable knowledge of Boo when she informs readers that he is, a malevolent phantom that is auspiciously known for lurking in the night to [peep] in [residents] windows (Lee 10). If this rumor about Boo is true, readers should have a growing concern for all the people in the town, especially because no one has a clue what Boo s appearance resembles. He has not left his home in the light of day for countless years. This man could be real trouble. Later, rumors seem to be confirmed by town gossip, Miss Stephanie Crawford when she recalls a time when she awoke in the middle of the night to find Boo s skull of a face staring right at her through her window (Lee 16). • 24. American Slavery American Freedom Summary In reviewing the book American Slavery, American Freedom, historian and author Edmund S. Morgan provides a chronological approach to the growth of slavery in North America. Morgan starts his journey with the first settlements in Virginia and continues until the start of the American Revolution. Morgan gives explanation of how ideals of freedom and English sense of superiority came to be a major stepping stone for independence and racism. Morgan s question of how a country that proclaims liberty, equality and religious virtue can at the same time foster the opposing ideals of slaveryand subjugation is the underlying question throughout the book. Morgan puts the critical issue on display, broken down into four areas or books, to guide our understanding of colonial Virginia, the development of slavery, and the link between racism and equality. This highly regarded and scholarly book examines the fundamental paradox of freedom and the establishment of slavery in American history. The central question posed by Morgan is how a people could have developed the dedication to human liberty and dignity exhibited by the leaders of the American Revolution and at the same time have developed and maintained a system of labor that denied human liberty and dignity every hour of the day (Morgan 1975, 4 5). The location in Morgan s research is colonial Virginia, once the largest slave state and home of proponents of liberty. Morgan s detailed discussion of: the rise of race slavery over indentured servants and poor Englishmen as the solution to workforce growth, a ruling class bound to the English tradition of superiority, and acceptance of lifelong denial of human equality in the face of the fight for liberty demonstrates the paradox for the reader. While the first two sections of the book provide the historical context of the settling of the Virginia colony, the last two demonstrate Morgan s theory of how racism was developed to ensure a sustainable workforce. The rise of the labor theory demonstrates how slavery itself became a necessary business venture in Virginia while at the same time justified the Revolutionary concepts of liberty and equality for all white men. There are different types of microscopes with alterations to serve a specific function, but the general use is the same. It is a tool invented with a curved lense that magnifies things that cannot be seen with the naked eye. A microscopecan be used to see many things, in this particular lab they were used to observe cells of different organisms. We began by looking at a few sample slides of euglena, salmonella, and lilium and recording our observations. Then we created the slides ourselves with living matter. The first set of cells that we looked at were onion cells, which we looked at by gathering a sample of onion epidermis from one of the onion s layers and creating a slide to be placed on the stage of the microscope. Next, we took a look at human cheek cells by obtaining a sample and again creating a slide by swabbing the inside of a mouth with a toothpick. Finally, we looked at pond water by creating a slide with a small amount that was collected in a dropper. Purpose The purpose of this lab was to gain more knowledge on the use of lab equipment, focusing principally on the microscope by observing a variety of cells underneath its magnifying lense at different levels of objective power and recording those observations. Pyrite s name originates from the Greek for fire, which is pyr . The Roman author Pliny the Elder described a stone which is thought to be pyrite. He described a stone used for grindstone, which would readily fire sparks or sulfur. He also commented on the heft, its resemblance to brass or copper, and its porosity. A Greek physician called pyritean ore of copper, due to the brassy look, but also commented on the sparks the mineral gave. Many of the early descriptions of pyrite included similar easily confused minerals such as chalcopyrite, marcasite, and pyrrhotite. (Dana, 1982) The yellow color and metallic luster of pyrite lead many people to misidentify the mineral as gold. This confusion gives rise to pyrite s nickname of fool s gold , however, there are many physical differences between pyrite and gold. For instance, they differ in crystal form, density, and hardness. Native gold forms in distinct nuggets, is much denser and has a lower hardness than pyrite. Pyrite is distinguished based on its metallic luster and pale brass yellow color, which can tarnish darker. The public made conspiracy claims since the 1970s and claim that NASA and others knowingly faked the whole moon landing by manufacturing, tampering with, or destroying evidence including pictures, tapes, radio and television transmissions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2009 the American patriot friend s network claimed that the landings helped the U.S. government use the landings to distract the public from the Vietnam War. The landings ended around the same time as the U.S. ended its involvement with the war. It is proven that the moon landings was in no relation to the end of U.S. involvement in Vietnam. Many conspiracies claim that the landings did not happen and that NASA employees have lied or say that the landings did happen but not in the way that has been told. The public s whole idea was that the whole moon landing program was a hoax from the beginning. Some claim that the technology that sends men to the moon was lacking or that the solar flares or wind made the trip impossible. Conspiracists claim the landing are a hoax because of the photos and films, the environment, mechanical issues, and transmissions. Conspiracists look mostly at the pictures and films that were taken from the moon. They point out oddities. They say in some pictures, crosshairs seem to be behind objects which is a sign of the picture being cropped or rotated for aesthetic impact. The pictures quality seems to be implausibly high by many poor quality photos taken by the Apollo astronauts and used high resolution. Lastly the conspiracists say that the photos are a hoax because there are no stars in none of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Chg Oral Hygiene In a stratified RCT, Tantipong, Morkchareonpong, Jaiyindee, Thamlikitkul (2008) conducted a study to compare the use of CHG and normal saline for oral care. Patients in the CHG group received care using 15 ml of 2% CHG, the use of tooth brushing, and suctioning up to four times per day (Tantipong et al., 2008). The normal saline group used the same procedure as the CHG group, but with the difference of using normal saline instead of CHG. The results of this study were that 4.9% or 5 out of 102 patients in the CHG group developed VAP and 11.4% or 12 out of 105 patients in the normal saline group developed VAP (Tantipong et al., 2008). The study concluded that using 2% CHG solution for oral hygienewas proven to be effective in preventing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sodium bicarbonate is essentially baking soda, and it has the capability to help remove mucus and release any kind of debris that aggregates in the oral cavity (Berry, 2013). Sodium bicarbonate also has the ability to prevent the buildup of bacteria in the oral cavity and it increases the pH or the oral cavity (Berry, 2013). The Listerine group received 20 ml of the mouthwashtwo times a day while using sterile water every two hours for the duration of the time (Berry, 2013). The sterile water group received oral rinses with 20 ml of sterile water every two hours, and the other group received sodium bicarbonate oral rinse mixed with sterile water every two hours. In this study, all groups had tooth brushing performed three times a day (Berry, 2013). The study concluded that out of the 127 participants in the Listerine group, about 4.7% developed VAP, 4.5% in the sodium bicarbonate group developed VAP, and 4.3% in the sterile water group (Berry, 2013). The study resulted in no difference between the use of Listerine and sodium bicarbonate related to the development of VAP (Berry, 2013). Berry (2013) concludes that Sodium bicarbonate and Listerine use is no more effective in the prevention of VAP than the control group using sterile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Cheering During High School During high school basketball games you mostly hear just the parents cheering and yelling. However, the few lucky home players sometimes get the experience of having a student section cheering them on. I have been on both ends of the student section: cheering in one and playing while one is cheering you on. Both are extremely fun and great to experience. It was a chilly February night in Maine at my high school. The varsity boys and girls teams were playing on the same night at home which is very rare and this night was even more rare considering it was senior night(the seniors last home game). Unfortunately, my team had to play first. Some people might like playing first but when you play second more fans tend to show up creating a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
