Why Is The Lymphatic System Important
The Lymphatic system in our bodies is important because it helps keep the balance in us that
allows us to stay in homeostasis. The Lymphatic system is imperative to the survival of human
beings as it keeps us in check with the order of our immune system. One of the lymphatic system s
main process is to collect extra lymphfluid from body tissues and return it to the blood. This
technique is imperative in light of the fact that water, proteins, and diverse substances are always
spilling out of capillaries into the incorporating body tissues. The Importance of Lymph Drainage
is For Good Health. The most ideal working of the lymphatic system is essential to our body s
ability to drain fluids, detoxify, rebuild tissues, filter toxins and foreign objects, and keep up a
strong safe immune system.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without it, our bodies would blow up like balls, overpowering our cells with bad fluid. The
lymphatic systems impact is extensive to the point that many don t comprehend that minor a
throbbing or light pain, low vitality or no defense to colds and flu may be a direct result of a lazy
lymphatic system and a bad immunity protection. blood plasma spills into tissues through the thin
layers of walls of the vessels. The part of blood plasma that departs from the blood circulation is
called interstitial or extracellular liquid, and it contains oxygen, glucose, amino acids, and different
supplements required by tissue cells. Albeit the greater part of this liquid leaks quickly over into
the circulation system, a piece of it is abandoned. The lymphatic system eliminates this liquid. A
lymphatic obstacle is a blockage in the lymphatic structure. The lymphatic system includes lymph
nodes and vessels that vacant fluids out of your body s

Fosfomycin Resistance Against Salmonella Species
A group of researchers from Canada have discovered that there is a gene that confines an
antibody from Salmonella. They discovered that this gene is found in broiler chickens. Broiler
chickens aren t used as much for egg production. These chickens are known for being raised on
farms and then butchered for meat. The researchers took their information and published a journal
where the information and research can be found. The gene itself is named fosA7; it got its name
because it carries a high level of resistance to fosfomycin. A common use to fosfomycin is an
antibiotic and is commonly used to help women cure their urinary tract infections. The 7 is fosA7
represents that it is the seventh of the fosA genes that have been discovered. As of now fosfomycin
resistance is limited against Salmonellaspecies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diarra, is a research scientist in Food Safety at Agriculture and Agri Food Canada. Diarra said,
The powerful resistance the fosA7 gene confers is worrisome. It could spread among different
Salmonella species, as well as other bacterial pathogen species, via horizontal gene transfer, due to
increased use of fosfomycin in both clinical and veterinary settings. Thus, vigilant monitoring for
the spread of fosfomycin resistance in bacteria, isolated from humans and animals, is needed.
Because of what Diarra said, many researchers wanted to test to see the strength of the resistance.
For the researchers to test the strength of this gene they had to clone it and place it into the
chromosome that was non antibiotic resistant. The chromosome that they were placing the
chromosomes into was Salmonella Enterica. After reviewing their results, they found that their
hypothesis was correct. The gene fosA7 is responsible for the resistance of fosfomycin. The gene
binds to fosfomycin and this is what causes it to become

VELIB, PARIS Essay
1. Introduction
Nowadays, transportation in urban area is highly complex as it involved various modes of
transportation, locations of the origins and destination and also the population of that particular
urban area. The focus of urban transport has been more on passengers as many major cities were
viewed as locations of utmost human interactions. Mostly, they move from one place to other place
for the purpose of commuting, commercial transactions, leisure or for cultural activities. Beside,
urban passenger transport system is one of the medium helping to have better quality of life for
every living community. It provides personal mobility and freedom for people to walk, use para
transit vehicle or use other non motorized transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naturally, as with every innovation, it will take to adapt and I have to emphasis that the rules must
be respected where necessary to ensure the safety of everyone, especially the most vuinerable
among us, pedestrians and cyclist!
Bertrand Delanoe, Mayor of Paris.
(Quoted shortly after the inauguration of the VГ©lib system, July 2007.)
According to his inauguration, the VГ©lib system appoints the need of both personalized and
mobility and low carbon solutions for urban transport passenger system. The main modal for this
system is to provide low environments that reduce the impact of mobility service for large cities
and urban centers. For this application, VГ©lib use Cyclocity as the basic ideas to be user friendly
as possible.
The main components of the system are the bike, the stations where they are attached and the
software that can track the bikes journey and the rental time of each journey made. One of the
common rationales cited by bike programs is that they provide an effective substitute for at least
some of the large numbers of short distance trips made by cars in urban areas, often with only one
person in the car. Such trips make poor use of scarce public resources, and of course carry with
them a heavy environmental burden.
If many passengers tend to use private vehicle, this objective cannot be achieved. However Paris
has been established as one of the country that

Book 15 Of The Iliad Essay
In the novel The Iliad, written by Homer, a variety of themes can be interpreted from the text.
Book 15 of The Iliad contains a scene that involves Achilles risking his best friends life simply
because he incapable of letting go. Earlier, in book 6, Prince Paris experiences a moment of
courage and challenges King Menelaus over the hand of a woman named Helen. Again, Paris is
caught in a violent scene fighting to protect his self pride. In a period of cowardice Paris brother
Hector discovers him hiding from battle, and attacks his ego, forcing him to fight once again. Some
may say The Iliadis about honor, importance of war, or revenge, but one message that stands above
the rest is the hunger for superiority.
During book 16 of The Iliad the Achaeans are pushed dangerously close to the coast by the Trojan
army. It was at this time that Patroclus seeks the aid of his dear friend Achilles. Patroclus explains to
Achilles the carnage that surrounds him and begs his comrade to rejoin the fight. Achilles, still
sore over his disagreement with Agamemnon, refuses to fight. As a compromise Achilles offers
his armor to Patroclus ensuring his safety: Up now, Zeus born Patroclus, master of horsemen. Lo,
I see by the ships the rush of consuming fire. Let it not be that they take the ships and there be no
more escaping! Do on my armour with all haste, and I will gather the host (Book 16). This decision
brings Patroclus to his eminent doom on the battlefield. It s clear to see that

Small Business Technology By Bill Simms
Small Business Technology
It was an ordinary Thursday evening in suburban Richmond, Virginia. 7PM. Bill Simms makes a
right turn on to the expressway ramp in a bid to make it on time to meet his wife for his daughter
s ballet recital. He was happy that his new painting business was beginning to thrive. After being
laid off, it came as a big relief that private home and small business clients were starting to find
him. Though he always had a general affinity for painting, owning a painting company is not
what he imagined doing for a living. Still, it was a blessing that was now manifesting as a
provident financier of ballet slippers. Although Bill s background was in corporate marketing,
he experienced a major learning curve when it came to pitching and selling business services.
He soon realized the impact of not having experience as a painter or small business owner. At the
start, he received most of his assistance from friends, family, and his wife. Everyone would pitch
in to keep up with the back office operations and work flow. As the company grew and became
successful, his makeshift team became overwhelmed and thinned out into a two man team. His
wife, a local teacher, assisted as best as possible with paperwork while he was in the field
servicing clients, but after only a short period of time, both were overwhelmed with generating
proposals, quotes, revisions, and invoices. The paperwork portion of running the business became a

The Giver Utopia
The definition of a Utopia an imaginary and indefinitely remote place, a place of ideal perfection
especially in laws, government, and social conditions (Merriam Webster). The book The Giver
by Lois Lowry is about a boy named Jonas who lives a community of sameness where everybody
doesn t have feelings but Jonas and The Giver. Jonas s community is a utopia because the people
of the community each get a job, they never starve (basic needs), and they do not have feelings
so they do not have pain, sadness, or competition. One reason why Jonas s community is a utopia
is that everyone in it gets a job that relates to what they do and who they are in some way. I think
this because of what Jonas had been told by his father, they ll find exactly... Show more content on

I think this because as the giver told Jonas ... you and I are the only ones who have feelings.
(pg.154).This quote showed me that no one has feelings (excluding Jonas and The Giver)
meaning that they cannot feel pain or have sadness or be angry. They are emotionless so nothing
can bring them down. Although having no emotions can seem bad but if, you never knew what
emotions were or that they existed then no one would even notice anything different. Also
without emotions, the community members cannot have competition for anything because they
do not have emotions. Without being able to feel anything emotionally, they will not ever need
to cry or be hurt; they would just keep going on. So since they cannot feel pain or sadness the
community is a utopia. Overall, Jonas s community in The Giver is a utopia. It is a utopia
because everyone gets a job, no one starves so there basic needs are met, and no one has feelings
so they cannot feel pain or sadness. The Giver is a perfect example of the definition of a utopia, an
imaginary and indefinitely remote place, and a place of ideal perfection especially in laws,
government, and social conditions

Children love television, and I know when I was in third grade and I saw the tv rolling into class
I didn t care what program we were about to see I was just glad we were watching tv. But this isn
t all about a fun video. Bill Nye the Science Guy is generally a great show for children. My main
goal for showing these third graders Bill Nye is to not teach them the Hydrologic Cycle, but
more to get them to like Bill Nye the Science Guy. Just think, as an educator, if you can teach
your lesson while getting the students hooked on the whole subject. I watched Bill Nye the
Science Guy as a child and I believe it was one of the few reasons why I was interested in
science. When teaching third graders them learning the material at hand is the key lesson, but it t
not the final goal. Getting them interested and to enjoy science is the main take away here.
Teaching a parent or grandparent is much different as our goal isn t to get them hooked on science
but more to just teach them the lesson. One thing I ve noticed when teaching an adult is that they
become less interested with the teaching the more childish it is. So basically, Bill Nye would not
work. So I found another video online that would teach adults the Hydrologic Cycle perfectly. It is
a video from NASA. This video contains all the information they would need to master what the
hydrologic cycle is, while including visual evidence, yet at the same time not being too childish. The

Examples Of Moral Dilemmas
2. What are values and norms and what is a moral dilemma?
To answer this question I will divide the question in three parts.
Starting with what values are. Values are an absolut or relative and ethic value of a person. Values
can be defined as a wide preference for specific actions.
The assumption of those can be a basic form for ethic handling.
A Valuesystem is a set of consistense values and measures. A principale value is a fundamental on
which values and measures of integrity are based.
Some values are physiologically determined and used usually for avoiding fysical pain or for
looking for fun. Other values are subjective, they are different for every individu or for different
religions. These values are more based on religion and their beliefs. Different values are ethical
/moral vales, ideological values, social values and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then the last part of this question, moral dilemmas. But what is a Moral dilemma?. A Moral
Dilemma is that two well known cases conflict with eachother. In each case you have moral
reasons to do each of the two actions, but it is not possible to do both. This is what you call moral
dilemmas.
What is really a common factor for moral dilemmas is, is that it is kind of required to do both
actions, in this situation you can choose one of them but you can t do both, so you start feeling
that you failed, because both actions are important for you. No matter which one you will choose
you always have the feeling that you failed or did something wrong. So to recap this all a Moral
Dillema is a Dillema between two factors/choices that are both important to you and whatever you
choose you will always think you made the wrong choice.
3.What Values and Norms does the chosen organisation

Theu.s. Roosevelt And Taft Administrations
Throughout the early 1900s the Marine Corps was becoming acquainted with the island of
Hispaniola that was split between two nations, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Both nations had
a political tradition that dictated office holding as a political right and economic requirement for the
political class known as the elite and the caudillos. Consequently, both governments acquired a
considerable amount of debt during this time period in order to sustain the habits of this tradition.
The United States developed an active interest in Hispaniolafollowing the War with Spain and the
construction of the Panama Canal. The Roosevelt and Taft administrations were primarily focused
with the traditional tasks of protecting American lives and property. However, the US government
shifted its focus to economic and strategic concerns as the State and Navy Departments engaged in
gunboat diplomacy, a foreign policy that is supported by the use or threat of military force. Among
these concerns was European intervention and establishing bases throughout the Caribbean. The
US would have to protect Haitiand the Dominican Republicsimultaneously by denying European
activity in the American sphere of interest and to preserve foreign investments for both the United
States and Hispaniola.
While the State Department was exploring different options to manage Haiti s economy, there were
several other responsibilities that had to be addressed in the Dominican Republic. In 1911, the

Catholic Vs Orthodox
Roman Catholic and Orthodox Church share many beliefs together. They both believe in the
sacraments, both venerate Mary as the mother of God, both believe that Jesus Christ was divine and
died for the sins of humanity and both believe in the Eucharist as the incarnation of Jesus Christ.
However, there are many main differences between them that they cannot agree on and unite as a
whole Christian church. Some of these differences include Authority and infallibility of the pope
and the Idea of Purgatory. One of the main differences between Catholic and Orthodox is the
belief in the Papacy. Papacy is the authority or the office that is held by a Pope. A Pope is the

Strategic Assessment Of Risk Assessment Methodologies
Mostly all security methodologies call for some kind of objective assessment of risks. This is
simply so because, security controls selections are centered on the known risks there are to an
organization s assets and operations. There is also an alternative, which would consist of randomly
selecting securitycontrols without using any type of methodical threat or control analysis. If the
alternative method is used to implement the security controls, there will be issues such as: having
security controls implemented in the wrong places, and the organization will be left vulnerable to
unanticipated threats and resources will be wasted.
Risk assessment methodologies establishes rules for what is to be assessed and establishes who
will need to be involved. Risk assessment methodologies also establishes the terminology that will
be used when discussing the risk, establishes the degree of risk when quantifying, qualifying, and
comparing risk, and they also help to establish what documentation must be collected as a result of
the assessments. The two most popular risk assessment methodologies that are used today are:
OCTAVE (Operationally Critical Threat, Asset, and Vulnerability Evaluation) which was developed
at Carnegie Mellon University, and the NIST risk assessment methodologythat is documented in
NIST Special Publication 800 30.
The OCTAVE methodology is a method that is used when assessing an organization s information
security needs. The most recently developed and

Abstinence In 1984
In the Novel 1984 by George Orwell there are many connections to modern day society including
the anti sex league which reflects abstinence only sex education. Abstinence only sex education has

her pregnancy with her second child out of wedlock.
In the novel the junior Anti Sex League is a club to teach teen girls not to have sex. The Junior
Anti Sex League tells women you shouldn t have sex for pleasure and that sex is to be an

Internal Conflict In The Black Cat
Black cats, animal abuse, schizophrenia, a fire and murder, Edgar Allan Poe s The Black Cat
checks all the boxes for a dark romantic piece of literature. The focus is taken off of the grotesque
details of abuse and murder but shifted towards the narrator s inner conflict. Poe s obsession with
exploring the human psyche is prevalent in this short story. Readers struggle to understand the
logic, if any, behind the actions of the unreliable narrator as he grapples with his own mind, or a
supernatural force. Edgar Allan Poecombines internal conflict and symbolism to express the theme
of transformation from innocence to evil and introduce a schizophrenic mindset that cannot
comprehend reality from supernatural occurrences. A descent into madness... Show more content on

Edgar Allan Poe s use of symbolism in The Black Cat subtly hints at the supernatural aspect of
the story. The Evil Eye which plagued the protagonist of The Tell Tale Heart makes a
reappearance. Both Pluto and the second black cat have only one eye, and the narrator describes
the second black cat s solitary eye of fire (Poe 401) as he alarmed the investigators of the corpse
in the tomb. The narrator s claim of love for Pluto and the subsequent black cat developing into
blind hatred and blame placed on them also mirrors the protagonist in The Tell Tale Heart. The
narrator blames the cats for his affliction. Pluto signifies innocence, disfigured and eventually
murdered by the narrator at the beginning of his spiral into madness. Pluto s Evil Eye is quickly
destroyed by the narrator, but is replaced with the phantasm. The phantasm haunts the narrator,
appearing after the house burns down and destroys his wealth. The phantasm also appears on the
second black cat s chest, tormenting the narrator with a reminder of his first murder. The second
black cat is the narrator s shot at redemption. His similarity to Pluto and willingness to endure the
narrator s abuse gave him a chance to redeem his innocence. Once the protagonist commited the
murder of his wife, the black cat gave up on him. Although the cats represent innocence and
redemption, the narrator s

The concurring judgment of 2:1 was pronounced by the SC on 20th January, 2012. The decision
has been widely discussed because of interesting point of law and huge revenue involved of Rs.
11,000 ( plus ) Crores for the Government of India. The loss of revenue is not limited only to
Government s losing the Vodafone s case, the stand of the Govt. has weakened in other similar
cases. The legal issue related to the interpretation of provisions of section 9 of the Income tax Act,

related to the issue whether any income accrued or arose to Vodafone in India on entering into
agreements between two companies for acquiring controlling interest, which one foreign company
held in an Indian company, by another foreign company and, hence, Vodafone was obliged to
deduct tax at source on such acquisition. The basic question involved was whether Indian tax
authorities had a right to impose tax in respect of a transaction where both the transacting
companies were based outside India, but the subjectmatter of transfer was in India. Hence, the

Oklahoma Moves Drugs
Millions of cars drive in and out of Oklahoma every day. Families, couples, friends, or just a single
person. What we don t know is what is inside of the vehicles. People don t realize that we have
highways going all directions which are I 44, I 40, and I 35. Those are the number one drug
highways in the United States. Thousands of pounds of Marijuana, Cocaine, PCP, painkillers,
Heroin, and Meth are being trafficked every day in and out of Oklahoma highways are what makes
Oklahoma known for drug trafficking.
With highways going all different directions, it s easy to transport drugs in and out of the state.

Tulsa has the highest rate of prescription painkillers written as well. Every year there are 128
prescriptions written for painkillers for every one hundred oklahomans. With that many
prescriptions written, the charts burst with the amount of people becoming addicted or
overdosing. On November 1st, Morphine, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Benzos have been
made illegal. So now, the government has grouped them with Cocaine, Meth, PCP, and Heroin.
All the charges will be same if caught trafficking these drugs. We have far too many being pushed
out legally into the supply, where then a person taking them legally be addicted or be placed in
the hands of drug dealers who sell to addicts Terri

Comparing The Starry Night And The Scream
The Starry Night and The Scream Vincent Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands on March 30,
1853. He pursued many other things in his life before deciding to become an artist. He was
brought up in a religious atmosphere, being the son of a preacher. He was a preacher himself for
a while in Borinage, a mining district in Belgium. At one point he wanted to dedicate his life to
reaching out to those in poverty. At other points in his life he worked as an art salesman and a
bookstore clerk. After being dismissed from preaching in Belgium, he remained there and began
to study art. This period, his early Dutch period, was characterized by somber tones and sharp
lighting. The most famous painting to come from this period was in 1885 and was called The
Potato Eaters . In 1886, he joined his brother Theo in Paris. He was involved in the art world as
well, as a manager of Goupil s gallery. Van Gogh began to study with Cormon and his dark somber
palette began to lighten. He started using short brush strokes and was leaning more towards the
Impressionist style (Vincent Van GoghBio). Van Gogh had a dream of establishing an art school
and traveled south to Arles to pursue that dream. He wanted his friends to join him, and Gauguin
was the only one that did. His relationship with Gaugin did not end well though. It s not certain
exactly what happened, but there were disputes between the two of them and it ended with a
portion of Van Gogh s earlobe being cut off. Around this time, the end of

The X-Men Franchise
My yet to be documented feelings of the X Men franchise can best be described as mixed. I am
not as huge of a fan of the original trilogy as most people, and I actually prefer X Men Origins:
Wolverine to any of those films. I do, however, very much like this newest trilogy, of which
Apocalypse is the closing entry. (Alas, I haven t seen Deadpool ). That mixed feeling on the
entire series applies to this installment, as well, although I am leaning positive on this one. X
Men Apocalypse is set 10 years after the events of Days of Future Past (although only two years
have passed in reality). Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) has become a cult figure adored by
mutants, although she has gone off the radar. Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) has devoted his
time to his students at his school for gifted youngsters. Erik Lensherr/Magneto (Michael
Fassbender) has reinvented himself, becoming a simple industrial worker in Poland. Of course, all
that changes when the titular villain (Oscar Isaac), the original mutant who also possess godlike
abilities, awakens from a millennia long slumber. The X Men must reunite to combat this new foe.

Magneto. He s an absolute force of nature that exudes confidence, but he also delivers in his
emotional moments. Lawrence is merely fine as Mystique. She is definitely phoning this one in,
but even when she does that she is decent. Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast is good again,
with earnestness and humor in abundance. Unfortunately, he isn t given much to do. Lastly, Evan
Peters as Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver is perfect. He is believable, charismatic and hilarious in a

Night in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream...
Night in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream One of the recurring themes
throughout Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream is the time of day during which the play s
major action takes place: night. This being the case, there are certain words that are directly linked
to this theme that appear numerous times throughout the script. Four such words are moon,
moonlight, moonshine, and lunatic. Each comes from a feminine root that serves to identify the
women in the play as prizes to be won and controlled. It becomes clear when looking up the term
moon in the Oxford English Dictionary that the word is associated with the feminine. In poetry, for
instance, the moon is often personified, always as female... ... Show more content on

Theseus looks to the moon to measure how soon he will wed his fiancГ©, Hippolyta. Hippolyta
responds in kind, commenting, And then the moon, like to a silver bow / New bent in heaven,
shall behold the night / Of our solemnities (1.1.7, 14). Not only does the bride speak of the moon
as a measurement (for when it becomes a silver bow, or crescent, they wed), but she also speaks
of the night when the moon wanes as a time of festive marriage ceremonies. It is important to
take into account the character of Hippolyta in this instance. Having Theseus wed Hippolyta,
Queen of the Amazons, takes away Hippolyta s power as a strong female. She, too, is counting
the nights by the waning of the moon until she is legitimately wed and under the control of a
husband. The lesser characters, below royalty in the social order, take part in illicit happenings
veiled by night, as the moon oversees the activities of May Day/Midsummer s Eve. The moon is
considered a passive overseer or witness to (the actions of humankind) (Brown 1645). In the
forest of Oberon and Titania, the moon is truly an observer. Within a monologue by Titania, the
fairy queen announces, Therefore the moon, the governess of floods, / Pale in her anger, washes
all the air, / That rheumatic diseases do abound (2.1.102, 29). Titania speaks of her quarrel with
Oberon in this instance and how it affects all of nature. Their effect on the natural world is so

Pulp Fiction Themes
Pulp Fiction (1994) is a mesmerizing, violent and entertaining movie. It has a bizarre cast of
characters, a nonlinear sequence of events and endless references to pop culture. The underlying
theme of the movie, however, deals with religion and the transformation of two characters: Jules
(Samuel L. Jackson) and Butch (Bruce Willis).
In the beginning of the film, Vincent (John Travolta) has returned from a stay in Amsterdam, and
the conversation between Jules and Vincent deals with what Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are
called in Europe. As the movie moves on, other references are the Fonz on Happy Days, Arnold
the Pig on Green Acres, the band Flock of Seagulls, Caine from Kung Fu, TV pilots, and other such

Jules always quotes this just before he kills someone. The point is that the passage refers to a
system of values and meaning by which one could lead one s life and make moral decisions.
However, that system has no connection with Jules s life and as he realizes later, the passage is
actually meaningless to him.
In addition to the pop references in the film, its dialogue on language is concerned with naming
things. What s a Big Mac called? What s a Quarter Pounder called? What s a Whopper called?
When Ringo (Tim Roth) calls the waitress garçon, she tells him: garçon means boy . When
Butch s girlfriend refers to his means of transportation as a motorcycle, he insists on correcting
her: It s not a motorcycle, it s a chopper. When a Hispanic cab driver, however, asks Butch what
his name means, he replies: This is America, honey; our names don t mean shit. The point is clear
that in the absence of any lasting ambition or value and meaning, our language no longer points to
anything beyond itself. To call something good or evil makes it so since there s no higher authority
or criteria by which one might judge such things. Jules quotes the Bible before his executions, but
he might as well be quoting the Fonz or Buddy Holly.
This absence of any kind of system for making value judgments, this lack of a larger meaning to
their lives, creates a

The Consequences Of Due Care And Diligence In A Business
Due care occurs when a company does not inform their workers what is expected of them, and the
action that the company will take against them if their acts or illegal or unethical. Due diligence
requires a business to continuously safeguard others (Whitman Mattord, 2014). Due care and
diligence when in regards to the law and information security, is the way a company or a person
cares about the product they produce are dependable. . Due diligenceis the determination made by
an ordinarily prudent or reasonable party to elude damage to an additional party, when there is no
attempt to try, this is seen as more or less a level of negligent behavior, and agreements will
frequently state that the seller must be responsible for due diligence (Freeman, 2007).
Negligence is conduct which involves an unreasonably great risk of causing damage. Due care is
conduct which does not involve such a risk. The essence of negligence is unreasonableness; due
care is simply reasonable conduct. When due care consists in taking precautions against harm,
only reasonable precautions need be taken, not every conceivable or possible precaution In
certain cases skill or special knowledge is an element in due care; i. e., it is unreasonable for a
person who has not competent knowledge or skill to do certain acts. During mergers acquisitions
companies should execute a thorough process that begins with a rigorous due diligence phase and
follows through post implementation periods (Terry, 1915).

difficult for him as he constantly had extreme reactions. At that time, we decided that Dennis
would have to combat his allergies rather than temporarily subside them through medicine. Then,
we found a soccer team. At first, Dennis seemed curious and ready to play, but the team he played
for was unstable and new with a constant losing streak. With his allergies only getting worse, he
faced the decision of quitting. However, friends and family prevented him from taking the easy
way out. Now he has been playing for five years on the exact same team.

Postmortem Interval Estimation
Abstract Postmortem interval estimation is very important in a suspicious death investigation.
Myoglobin is a hemoprotein present in striated muscles of living body. After death, myoglobin is
exuded from muscles to blood, tissues and organs. So, the aim of this study was to estimate
postmortem interval from myoglobin concentrations in glandular tissues. This study was done on
rats to detect the postmortem concentration of myoglobin in pituitary, parotid and adrenal glands at
different time intervals. There was a significant correlation between myoglobin concentration in
glandular tissues and postmortem interval. By multiple stepwise linear regression analysis, the
most predictable model was the combination between pituitary, adrenal and parotid myoglobin
concentrations (R2= 0.992). The second predictable model was the combination between adrenal
and pituitary myoglobin... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The procrastinator. The prioritizer. The slacker. Which type of studier are you? I believe that I

Prioritizing is to arrange or deal with things in the order of importance. Last but not least,

best. Many kids at school like to procrastinate, mostly with tests, I am one of them. This is why

The number twenty four says to study all day, every day. Lastly, seven means to study on all the
seven days of the week. Students test scores have augmented, when doing this process. You
never know, studying ten minutes a day may allow your test score to go from a sixty to a ninety.
Study habits not only involve you studying by yourself, but you should ask your classmates or
teachers for help. If you do not discern the lesson that was taught, pull your teacher off to the
side and respectfully ask them for help. Hang around people that do not know the same thing as
you, therefore you can help each other out. Helping friends study is always a benign act.
Prioritizing is always the best route to go. If you prioritize, you most likely will be less stressed
when studying for a test. As we enter high school, there are going to be multiple assignments and
tests on the same day, but if you prioritize you can execute your task very well. To exemplify for
you, imagine next week we will have three tests on different days. Also, that your teacher has told
you two weeks before the test. Most of us would probably wait until the last minute to study. After
getting the results, you have only passed one test. Wouldn t it have been better for you to

The Watchman As A Hero In Alan Moore s Watchmen
A cornerstone work in the world of graphic novels, Alan Moore s Watchmen provides a rich plot
for readers while pushing them to question the world in which they live. One such question
suggested by the text is what it means to be a hero or a good guy , and to what extent bad acts are
redeemable. Through the Comedian, Moore provides a characterwho skirts the line between good
and evil in that he uses aggressive methods for achieving his goals, but is still considered a hero.
Furthermore, the Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, though not the only overly violent hero,
is most always cast in a negative light, with few redeeming qualities, suggesting that the small good
he does is not enough to outweigh the bad.
The identity of the Comedian is slowly revealed through the course of the book, with several key
scenes demonstrating his twisted worldview. One of the first sources of characterization is his
attempted rape of Silk Spectre. At that point in time, no other source of identity has been given, so
for the duration of the novel, the reader must absorb all new information knowing the evil he is
capable of, and has committed. In providing a negative first impression of the Comedian, Moore
forces readers to subconsciously interpret any new information presented about him in a dark
light, and in doing so, suggests that redemption is not possible for Blake. In addition, the
juxtaposition of Blake as a hero who first appears as a rapist forces the reader to take into question

Total Phenolic Content of Grape Juice using Visible Spectrophotometry
Abstract
The health benefits of red wine are well known and consumption has been encouraged more over
the years because of the populations increasing obesity rates and the inherent complications thereof;
including coronary heart disease and high blood pressure. Since the phenolic compounds in wine
combats these negative effects and originate from the grape itself the focus of this study was the

The concentrations of total phenolic compounds are written in Gallic Acid Equivalents (GAE) in
units of milligrams of gallic acid per 100 milliliters of juice. Educational institutes frown upon
buying students alcohol, even for scientific purposes, so white and red grape juices were used in
this experiment rather than wine to determine the total phenolic content by visible
spectrophotometery.
Objective
The overall objective of this experiment is to measure the total phenolics content in grape juice
using a standard curve to find the sample s phenolic concentration in milligrams of gallic acid
equivalent for every 100 milliliters of juice.
Materials and Methods
This experiment used the Gilson pipetman Neo, Genesys 20 spectrophotometer, Folin Ciocalteu s
phenol reagent, saturated Na2CO3 solution as well as the requisite test tubes, volumetric flasks,
analytical scale and graduated cylinder necessary to obtain accurate results. The first step required
the preparation of the gallic acid stock solution. This was made by quantitatively transferring 80
milligrams of gallic acid into a 250 mL volumetric flask, dissolving it into solution by using 50 mL
methanol, bringing it up to volume with deionized water and mixing the solution vigorously. The
final concentration of the stock solution should be approximately 320 Вµg/mL, depending on the
mass of gallic acid measured. The working solutions that

Jason as the Foil of Medea Essay
Jason as the Foil of Medea In Medea, by Euripides, the two main characters Jason and Media are
forced to leave Lolkos and have taken refuge in Corinth. Jason has the possibility of establishing a
position of standing in the community by marrying King Creon s daughter. Medea is enraged by
Jason s betrayal of her and their two children and she vows to stop the marriage and exact revenge.
In the play, Medeaand Jason are set up as foils. Medeais completely dependent on the dominance

He is obviously not aware that he has done anything wrong. He feels he has merely done what
any man in his place would do. Through his marriage to the princess he is now the the heir to
the throne of Corinth, which is ultimately something that will benefit Medea and her children.
He wants to regain status for his family and give his children to opportunity to have royal
lineage. Jason s plan is to achieve a better life for himself and bring his children out of poverty.
All of this would eventually benefit Medea, and he does not understand why Medea can not see
things his way. QUOTE His contention is that his plan would have worked out perfectly if
Medea had only acted sensibly. He blames her for crying out for justice and for making threats
against the royal family. If she had not threatened Creon and his daughter, Medea would not be
facing exile. Because of Medea s threats, Creon s animosity spreads to the children and he insists
that they all be sent away. Through their entire conversation Jason does not permit himself to be
controlled by passion. He keeps his head clear and simply lays down the facts. It is not like him to
let his feeling free play like Medea does. He is there to offer her money and a tell her about her
place of exile. He explains that it will be painful to see his children go, but Medea

Moral Codes
Morality defines us , human beings, by setting the principle for what is right or wrong. The aura
surrounding morality delineates our values and our ability to make critical decisions. Moral
codes are the values that shape us as unique people and they are values that one stands by.
Without it, we would have outlawed thoughts and order in the world dissipates. Like others,
moral codes play a substantial role in my life and they dictate the decisions I make in everyday
life. Firstly, the idea that purging of one s life is unjust is a tenet that I have a strong stance on.
Despite the real world repercussions such as prison and a death sentence, the reason that I believe
in it is due to the barrage of guilt that I would feel. Whether it be a criminal or a person who I

Influenced by this punk subcultural capital, the punks distinguished themselves from the
mainstream code of behavior. The subcultural capital not only differentiated from the widely
accepted popular culture , but also discriminated themselves from the high culture as well. Hebdige
(1976) has argued that subcultural knowledge often include class consciousness. As a matter of
fact, the assertion of subcultural distinction partly bases on the ideal of classlessness (Thornton,
1995). Storey also points out that the class divides indeed exist between the subculture and the elite
culture (Forgan, 2002). Opposite from the high culture, which is often appeal to the taste of the
elite class, the subcultural capital is always less class bound and concerned more about the
interests of lower class. Therefore, it shapes people s dispositions against the dominate stereotypes,
such as class, gender and religion. As an illustration, the punks can come from all works of life and

Jewish Folk Dance As A Means Of Creating A New Israeli...
Jewish national identity was colonized when Jewish people were forced out of ancient Israel and
dispersed to various different nations. Anti Semitism was one of the principle means for this
colonization because it made it dangerous for Jewish people to express their own national identity
in the European nations they dispersed to. As a result, certain traditions, like Jewish folk dance,
which were not codified, were lost. Jewish folk dance also disappeared because folk traditions are
strongly connected to the land in which they originated and the majority of Jewsleft Israel.
Furthermore, because of the third commandant of the Torah, Jews were not allowed to depict
images of their dance. Consequently, their traditional dance was lost forever. However, when the
Jews returned to Israel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they found it important to recreate
traditions like folk dance to reassert their fractured nationhood after so many years of diaspora.
Thus, Israeli folk dance was a means of creating a new Israeli culture.
Israeli folk dance was created by using elements from other dance cultures with themes and music
of modern Israel. In this paper, I will argue that while anti Semitism resulted in the colonization of
Jewish national identity, women re created Israeli folk dance as a means to establish a new Jewish
identity, as well as an identity for themselves. By focusing on Romania and Yemen, we will
identify the vestiges of colonialism in Israeli folk dance, and

many volcanoes observed. Paragraph 2 Old Faithful differs from other volcanoes because the

Another difference is that instead of using viscous magma the geyser uses inviscid H2O.

newspapers. In our high tech world people choose mobility and fast temper of life. That s why I
dare say that almost every piece of news can be found by means of Internet. Along with traditional
printed newspapers there appeared up to date and more efficient way to present information.
Online newspapers became widely spread as a way to inform and unite readers according to their
interests. I ll make an attempt to define clearly privileges and drawbacks of both variants.
There is a wide variety of newspapers published online. Readers may mostly get access to
sociological, psychological and political newspapers and those intended for a wide range of
people. In general online newspapers don t seem to differ much from printed versions by the ...

Textbooks are a technology that has been around since the 16th century and what most of our
educational practices revolve. It is going to be a challenge to transition from a tool that is so
completely entrenched in our way of teaching and how most educators were taught during their
educational career. These devices are going to require a completely new approach to teaching and
thinking about the new skills that are needed to succeed today.
IBM_Selectric_smIf you ve been around since the introduction of the personal computer you will
remember that for a few years the PC was no more than a fancy typewriter that didn t require
carbon paper to make multiple copies. I still have a soft spot for the IBM Selectric typewriter, but
my Apple with a dot matrix printer running AppleWorks was a huge improvement. My Apple
computer moved me from typing to word processing. However, it wasn t until I had the computer
for almost five years that I used it for anything but word processing. I never really thought it would
be anything but my fancy new

Tok Pisin. Tok Pisin, One Of The Official National Languages
Tok Pisin
Tok Pisin, one of the official national languages of Papua New Guinea, and Hawaiian Creole
English have similar historical developments. However the two languages are used differently in
school and in the church. Both languages are viewed differently by non speakers. Lastly both
pidgin languages are currently having struggles keeping the language alive.
A pidgin language creates a way of communication among groups of people who lack a common
knowledge(Smith 2002). Pidgin languages are spoken as someone s second language. When a
kid is raised and now that pidgin is their first language, the language is now known as creole
(Smith 2002). Present day Hawaiian Creole English speakers and others in Hawaii refer to the
language as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With English speaking plantation owners and non English workers, the community needed a
common language to communicate with each other. Later in 1868 Japanese workers arrived and
then in 1907 Filipinos arrived to work in the plantations. By the year 1907 new grammar, syntax,
and intonation were added to the growing pidgin language of the immigrant communities(Tsai
1995). Families were created from the plantation workers and eventually had kids and raised them
on speaking pidgin, now they speak Creole.
Papua New Guinea has hundreds of local languages, about 800, but chooses to use Tok Pisin in
schools, especially in urban areas (Franken August 2011). Tok Pisin is used as a lingua francaor
bridge to help teach in schools. For kids that need help understanding a concept, teachers use
comparison, contrast, and elaboration in the student s first language then to Tok Pisin (Franken
August 2011). The Board of Education in Papua New Guinea instructed grades first through third
will use the local language in the classroom. After third, a transitional bilingual program will take
place to teach kids English (Franken August 2011). The Board of education wants the countries
kids to learn English so they can grow up and get jobs that require knowing English.
In 1894 English was used as the language for instruction in public schools in Hawaii. Then, two
years later the policy changed by Act 57 in the Republic of Hawaii(Choy). Act 57 banned

Adam And Eve Myths
The story of Adam and Eve from The Bible is a mythical story that explains why people are what
we are today. It is a myth because it explains why there is fear and pain in the world. It also shows
how men and women were created by God. The story of Adam and Eve also explains why there is
good and evil.
The story of Adam and Eve describes why there is pain and fear. In the beginning of the story Adam
and Eve are fearless. Adam and Eve are hubristic and they decide to disobey God s orders. When
God takes them out of the garden they begin to realize what fear is. Adam says, I was afraid,
because I was naked; and I hid myself (Genesis 3:15). This explains why the story is a myth
because it shows why there is fear in the world today. The

Osmosis in Potato Tissue
Biology
Aim:
My objective is to plan and conduct an experiment from which I should be able to draw a firm
conclusion that will either prove or disprove any predictions I make. This essay aims to assess and
investigate the effect of various solution concentrations on the activity of osmosis in plant tissue.
Background scientific theory:
Plants exchange gases (CO2 and O2) in maintaining vital respiratory processes and in carrying out
photosynthesis; they absorb certain minerals and sugars so to use as a source of energy and
eradicate wastes in order to maintain specific requirements for survival. Large amounts of water are
absorbed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The maximum water potential is nil; an example of which is within pure water hence water
molecules will flow from it to any other aqueous solution regardless of how dilute it may be.
There are three possible concentrations of solution. The first, a hypertonic solution, has a higher
solute concentration than that of the cell and as a result the water will leave the cell resulting in
collapsed vacuoles in plant cells. A hypotonic solution, however, has a lower solute concentration
than the solute concentration inside the cell and hence the net movement of water inside the cell is
at its maximum. Whilst an isotonic solution is when the concentration of solutes is the same
inside the cell as it is outside of the cell; in such as case the cell would not lose nor gain any water.
This state is otherwise recognized as dynamic Equilibrium where the molecules are randomly
distributed despite there still being a rapid net movement of water across the cell membrane in both
directions; water movement in opposing directions occur at the same rate and thereby cancel each
other out.
Larger differences between the concentrations or water potential of the solutions results in a steeper
concentration gradient, meaning a faster rate of osmosis. In effect the concentration outside of any
cell is proportional to

The Problem Of Drug Addicts
Currently, the society is employing a significant amount of money and efforts to deal with the
continuous increasing of drug addicts within their roots. In fact, the drug problem can be
considered by the majority as the greatest problem of the 21th century. Just look, on how it
worsened in the last years. Now, it seems that the range of consumers has expanded, and now is
embracing almost all ages and classes. In fact, the teens are making the drugs seem like a fashion
trend, in which those who do not follow it will be excluded. Considering this fact, and relating it to
the need of the human being to feel accepted by the society or a group, helps to understand why the
number of drugaddicts is increasing.

Considering the criteria cited above, I had two ideas a comic book or a videogame; but, in the
attempt of minimizing as much as possible the costs of the proposal, without compromising the
effectiveness of the same, I chose the comic book.
I Previous Solution Surely, because of the severity of the drug problem, several solutions were
extrapolated and implemented in the attempt to deal with it. However, ones were more efficient
than others, but at the same time, none of them represented a real solution for a long time project.
For instance, in the article The War On Drugs ... , written by Ewan Hoyle, which is the founder of
the Liberal Democrats for Drug Policy Reform, there are several solutions to deal with the drug
problem, but each one of them has its constraints (303). One of them, and it was the chosen solution
by the author, included a treatment with diamorphine, which is a pharmaceutical drug that changes
the neurological system and inhibit the desires of the consumer (303). Even though it seems an
extreme measure, the article showed that it carried a high percentage of success on the sample
trials. On the other hand, such measure seems to carry a lot of constraints related to the costs. For
the costs, even Hoyle stated that this treatment was expensive (304). In his attempt, to back up it,
Hoyle stated that the government must do a revision of its policies in a way that facilitate the
market for this medicine (304). Well, the

Fragile X Syndrome Inherited
How is Fragile X Syndrome Inherited?
Genes are a huge part of DNA that are passed from generation to generation. There are many
genes on each chromosome; we have tens of thousands of genes that tell or bodies on how to
develop. Genes are given letters to identify them. The gene responsible for fragile X syndrome is
called FMR1. The FMR1 Gene is on the X chromosome. The FMR1 gene appears in four forms
that are shown by the number of repeats of a pattern of DNA called CGG repeats. Individuals with
less than 45 CGG repeats have a normal FMR1 gene. Those with 45 54 CGG repeats have what is
called an intermediate or grey zone allele, which does not cause any of the known fragile X
associated disorders. Individuals with 55 200 CGG repeats have ... Show more content on

People who are carriers of the Fragile X gene often have high levels of anxiety. Women who are
carriers may experience primary ovarian insufficiency, which is a loss of normal function in
your ovaries which means they don t release eggs regularly, which causes early menopause. Men
and women who are carriers can also develop Fragile X tremor ataxia syndrome (FXTAS), the
breaking down of the brain. Men are more likely to develop FXTAS than women. FXTAS
usually occurs at the age of 50. It can affect balance and memory, and cause tremors and other
neurological problems. A person may be fully affected by Fragile X but not show all of these
signs. Here are all of the symptoms under their given

  • 3. Fosfomycin Resistance Against Salmonella Species A group of researchers from Canada have discovered that there is a gene that confines an antibody from Salmonella. They discovered that this gene is found in broiler chickens. Broiler chickens aren t used as much for egg production. These chickens are known for being raised on farms and then butchered for meat. The researchers took their information and published a journal where the information and research can be found. The gene itself is named fosA7; it got its name because it carries a high level of resistance to fosfomycin. A common use to fosfomycin is an antibiotic and is commonly used to help women cure their urinary tract infections. The 7 is fosA7 represents that it is the seventh of the fosA genes that have been discovered. As of now fosfomycin resistance is limited against Salmonellaspecies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diarra, is a research scientist in Food Safety at Agriculture and Agri Food Canada. Diarra said, The powerful resistance the fosA7 gene confers is worrisome. It could spread among different Salmonella species, as well as other bacterial pathogen species, via horizontal gene transfer, due to increased use of fosfomycin in both clinical and veterinary settings. Thus, vigilant monitoring for the spread of fosfomycin resistance in bacteria, isolated from humans and animals, is needed. Because of what Diarra said, many researchers wanted to test to see the strength of the resistance. For the researchers to test the strength of this gene they had to clone it and place it into the chromosome that was non antibiotic resistant. The chromosome that they were placing the chromosomes into was Salmonella Enterica. After reviewing their results, they found that their hypothesis was correct. The gene fosA7 is responsible for the resistance of fosfomycin. The gene binds to fosfomycin and this is what causes it to become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main modal for this system is to provide low environments that reduce the impact of mobility service for large cities and urban centers. For this application, VГ©lib use Cyclocity as the basic ideas to be user friendly as possible. The main components of the system are the bike, the stations where they are attached and the software that can track the bikes journey and the rental time of each journey made. One of the common rationales cited by bike programs is that they provide an effective substitute for at least some of the large numbers of short distance trips made by cars in urban areas, often with only one person in the car. Such trips make poor use of scarce public resources, and of course carry with them a heavy environmental burden. If many passengers tend to use private vehicle, this objective cannot be achieved. Book 15 of The Iliad contains a scene that involves Achilles risking his best friends life simply because he incapable of letting go. Earlier, in book 6, Prince Paris experiences a moment of courage and challenges King Menelaus over the hand of a woman named Helen. Again, Paris is caught in a violent scene fighting to protect his self pride. In a period of cowardice Paris brother Hector discovers him hiding from battle, and attacks his ego, forcing him to fight once again. Some may say The Iliadis about honor, importance of war, or revenge, but one message that stands above the rest is the hunger for superiority. During book 16 of The Iliad the Achaeans are pushed dangerously close to the coast by the Trojan army. It was at this time that Patroclus seeks the aid of his dear friend Achilles. Patroclus explains to Achilles the carnage that surrounds him and begs his comrade to rejoin the fight. Achilles, still sore over his disagreement with Agamemnon, refuses to fight. As a compromise Achilles offers his armor to Patroclus ensuring his safety: Up now, Zeus born Patroclus, master of horsemen. Lo, I see by the ships the rush of consuming fire. Let it not be that they take the ships and there be no more escaping! Do on my armour with all haste, and I will gather the host (Book 16). • 10. Small Business Technology By Bill Simms Small Business Technology It was an ordinary Thursday evening in suburban Richmond, Virginia. 7PM. Bill Simms makes a right turn on to the expressway ramp in a bid to make it on time to meet his wife for his daughter s ballet recital. He was happy that his new painting business was beginning to thrive. After being laid off, it came as a big relief that private home and small business clients were starting to find him. Though he always had a general affinity for painting, owning a painting company is not what he imagined doing for a living. Still, it was a blessing that was now manifesting as a provident financier of ballet slippers. Although Bill s background was in corporate marketing, he experienced a major learning curve when it came to pitching and selling business services. He soon realized the impact of not having experience as a painter or small business owner. At the start, he received most of his assistance from friends, family, and his wife. Everyone would pitch in to keep up with the back office operations and work flow. As the company grew and became successful, his makeshift team became overwhelmed and thinned out into a two man team. His wife, a local teacher, assisted as best as possible with paperwork while he was in the field servicing clients, but after only a short period of time, both were overwhelmed with generating proposals, quotes, revisions, and invoices. Although having no emotions can seem bad but if, you never knew what emotions were or that they existed then no one would even notice anything different. Also without emotions, the community members cannot have competition for anything because they do not have emotions. Without being able to feel anything emotionally, they will not ever need to cry or be hurt; they would just keep going on. So since they cannot feel pain or sadness the community is a utopia. Values are an absolut or relative and ethic value of a person. Values can be defined as a wide preference for specific actions. The assumption of those can be a basic form for ethic handling. A Valuesystem is a set of consistense values and measures. A principale value is a fundamental on which values and measures of integrity are based. Some values are physiologically determined and used usually for avoiding fysical pain or for looking for fun. But what is a Moral dilemma?. A Moral Dilemma is that two well known cases conflict with eachother. In each case you have moral reasons to do each of the two actions, but it is not possible to do both. This is what you call moral dilemmas. What is really a common factor for moral dilemmas is, is that it is kind of required to do both actions, in this situation you can choose one of them but you can t do both, so you start feeling that you failed, because both actions are important for you. No matter which one you will choose you always have the feeling that you failed or did something wrong. So to recap this all a Moral Dillema is a Dillema between two factors/choices that are both important to you and whatever you choose you will always think you made the wrong choice. 3.What Values and Norms does the chosen organisation ... Roosevelt And Taft Administrations Throughout the early 1900s the Marine Corps was becoming acquainted with the island of Hispaniola that was split between two nations, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Both nations had a political tradition that dictated office holding as a political right and economic requirement for the political class known as the elite and the caudillos. Consequently, both governments acquired a considerable amount of debt during this time period in order to sustain the habits of this tradition. The United States developed an active interest in Hispaniolafollowing the War with Spain and the construction of the Panama Canal. • 16. Strategic Assessment Of Risk Assessment Methodologies Mostly all security methodologies call for some kind of objective assessment of risks. This is simply so because, security controls selections are centered on the known risks there are to an organization s assets and operations. There is also an alternative, which would consist of randomly selecting securitycontrols without using any type of methodical threat or control analysis. If the alternative method is used to implement the security controls, there will be issues such as: having security controls implemented in the wrong places, and the organization will be left vulnerable to unanticipated threats and resources will be wasted. Risk assessment methodologies establishes rules for what is to be assessed and establishes who will need to be involved. Risk assessment methodologies also establishes the terminology that will be used when discussing the risk, establishes the degree of risk when quantifying, qualifying, and comparing risk, and they also help to establish what documentation must be collected as a result of the assessments. The focus is taken off of the grotesque details of abuse and murder but shifted towards the narrator s inner conflict. Poe s obsession with exploring the human psyche is prevalent in this short story. Readers struggle to understand the logic, if any, behind the actions of the unreliable narrator as he grapples with his own mind, or a supernatural force. The Evil Eye which plagued the protagonist of The Tell Tale Heart makes a reappearance. The narrator s claim of love for Pluto and the subsequent black cat developing into blind hatred and blame placed on them also mirrors the protagonist in The Tell Tale Heart. The narrator blames the cats for his affliction. Pluto signifies innocence, disfigured and eventually murdered by the narrator at the beginning of his spiral into madness. He was a preacher himself for a while in Borinage, a mining district in Belgium. At one point he wanted to dedicate his life to reaching out to those in poverty. At other points in his life he worked as an art salesman and a bookstore clerk. After being dismissed from preaching in Belgium, he remained there and began to study art. This period, his early Dutch period, was characterized by somber tones and sharp lighting. The most famous painting to come from this period was in 1885 and was called The Potato Eaters . In 1886, he joined his brother Theo in Paris. He was involved in the art world as well, as a manager of Goupil s gallery. Van Gogh began to study with Cormon and his dark somber palette began to lighten. He started using short brush strokes and was leaning more towards the Impressionist style (Vincent Van GoghBio). Van Gogh had a dream of establishing an art school and traveled south to Arles to pursue that dream. He wanted his friends to join him, and Gauguin was the only one that did. His relationship with Gaugin did not end well though. It s not certain exactly what happened, but there were disputes between the two of them and it ended with a portion of Van Gogh s earlobe being cut off. Around this time, the end of ... I am not as huge of a fan of the original trilogy as most people, and I actually prefer X Men Origins: Wolverine to any of those films. I do, however, very much like this newest trilogy, of which Apocalypse is the closing entry. (Alas, I haven t seen Deadpool ). That mixed feeling on the entire series applies to this installment, as well, although I am leaning positive on this one. X Men Apocalypse is set 10 years after the events of Days of Future Past (although only two years have passed in reality). Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) has become a cult figure adored by mutants, although she has gone off the radar. Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) has devoted his time to his students at his school for gifted youngsters. Erik Lensherr/Magneto (Michael Fassbender) has reinvented himself, becoming a simple industrial worker in Poland. Of course, all that changes when the titular villain (Oscar Isaac), the original mutant who also possess godlike abilities, awakens from a millennia long slumber. The X Men must reunite to combat this new foe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is definitely phoning this one in, but even when she does that she is decent. Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast is good again, with earnestness and humor in abundance. Night in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream One of the recurring themes throughout Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream is the time of day during which the play s major action takes place: night. This being the case, there are certain words that are directly linked to this theme that appear numerous times throughout the script. Four such words are moon, moonlight, moonshine, and lunatic. Each comes from a feminine root that serves to identify the women in the play as prizes to be won and controlled. It becomes clear when looking up the term moon in the Oxford English Dictionary that the word is associated with the feminine. Theseus looks to the moon to measure how soon he will wed his fiancГ©, Hippolyta. Hippolyta responds in kind, commenting, And then the moon, like to a silver bow / New bent in heaven, shall behold the night / Of our solemnities (1.1.7, 14). Not only does the bride speak of the moon as a measurement (for when it becomes a silver bow, or crescent, they wed), but she also speaks of the night when the moon wanes as a time of festive marriage ceremonies. It is important to take into account the character of Hippolyta in this instance. Having Theseus wed Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, takes away Hippolyta s power as a strong female. She, too, is counting the nights by the waning of the moon until she is legitimately wed and under the control of a husband. The lesser characters, below royalty in the social order, take part in illicit happenings veiled by night, as the moon oversees the activities of May Day/Midsummer s Eve. The moon is considered a passive overseer or witness to (the actions of humankind) (Brown 1645). In the forest of Oberon and Titania, the moon is truly an observer. Within a monologue by Titania, the fairy queen announces, Therefore the moon, the governess of floods, / Pale in her anger, washes all the air, / That rheumatic diseases do abound (2.1.102, 29). • 27. Pulp Fiction Themes Pulp Fiction (1994) is a mesmerizing, violent and entertaining movie. It has a bizarre cast of characters, a nonlinear sequence of events and endless references to pop culture. The underlying theme of the movie, however, deals with religion and the transformation of two characters: Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) and Butch (Bruce Willis). In the beginning of the film, Vincent (John Travolta) has returned from a stay in Amsterdam, and the conversation between Jules and Vincent deals with what Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are called in Europe. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jules always quotes this just before he kills someone. The point is that the passage refers to a system of values and meaning by which one could lead one s life and make moral decisions. However, that system has no connection with Jules s life and as he realizes later, the passage is actually meaningless to him. In addition to the pop references in the film, its dialogue on language is concerned with naming things. What s a Big Mac called? What s a Quarter Pounder called? What s a Whopper called? When Ringo (Tim Roth) calls the waitress garГ§on, she tells him: garГ§on means boy . When Butch s girlfriend refers to his means of transportation as a motorcycle, he insists on correcting her: It s not a motorcycle, it s a chopper. When a Hispanic cab driver, however, asks Butch what his name means, he replies: This is America, honey; our names don t mean shit. The point is clear that in the absence of any lasting ambition or value and meaning, our language no longer points to anything beyond itself. To call something good or evil makes it so since there s no higher authority or criteria by which one might judge such things. Jules quotes the Bible before his executions, but he might as well be quoting the Fonz or Buddy Holly. Due diligenceis the determination made by an ordinarily prudent or reasonable party to elude damage to an additional party, when there is no attempt to try, this is seen as more or less a level of negligent behavior, and agreements will frequently state that the seller must be responsible for due diligence (Freeman, 2007). Negligence is conduct which involves an unreasonably great risk of causing damage. Due care is conduct which does not involve such a risk. The essence of negligence is unreasonableness; due care is simply reasonable conduct. When due care consists in taking precautions against harm, only reasonable precautions need be taken, not every conceivable or possible precaution In certain cases skill or special knowledge is an element in due care; i. e., it is unreasonable for a person who has not competent knowledge or skill to do certain acts. Myoglobin is a hemoprotein present in striated muscles of living body. After death, myoglobin is exuded from muscles to blood, tissues and organs. So, the aim of this study was to estimate postmortem interval from myoglobin concentrations in glandular tissues. This study was done on rats to detect the postmortem concentration of myoglobin in pituitary, parotid and adrenal glands at different time intervals. There was a significant correlation between myoglobin concentration in glandular tissues and postmortem interval. By multiple stepwise linear regression analysis, the most predictable model was the combination between pituitary, adrenal and parotid myoglobin concentrations (R2= 0.992). • 33. The Watchman As A Hero In Alan Moore s Watchmen A cornerstone work in the world of graphic novels, Alan Moore s Watchmen provides a rich plot for readers while pushing them to question the world in which they live. One such question suggested by the text is what it means to be a hero or a good guy , and to what extent bad acts are redeemable. Through the Comedian, Moore provides a characterwho skirts the line between good and evil in that he uses aggressive methods for achieving his goals, but is still considered a hero. Furthermore, the Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, though not the only overly violent hero, is most always cast in a negative light, with few redeeming qualities, suggesting that the small good he does is not enough to outweigh the bad. The identity of the Comedian is slowly revealed through the course of the book, with several key scenes demonstrating his twisted worldview. One of the first sources of characterization is his attempted rape of Silk Spectre. At that point in time, no other source of identity has been given, so for the duration of the novel, the reader must absorb all new information knowing the evil he is capable of, and has committed. In providing a negative first impression of the Comedian, Moore forces readers to subconsciously interpret any new information presented about him in a dark light, and in doing so, suggests that redemption is not possible for Blake. In addition, the juxtaposition of Blake as a hero who first appears as a rapist forces the reader to take into question ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Objective The overall objective of this experiment is to measure the total phenolics content in grape juice using a standard curve to find the sample s phenolic concentration in milligrams of gallic acid equivalent for every 100 milliliters of juice. • 40. Jewish Folk Dance As A Means Of Creating A New Israeli... Jewish national identity was colonized when Jewish people were forced out of ancient Israel and dispersed to various different nations. Anti Semitism was one of the principle means for this colonization because it made it dangerous for Jewish people to express their own national identity in the European nations they dispersed to. As a result, certain traditions, like Jewish folk dance, which were not codified, were lost. Jewish folk dance also disappeared because folk traditions are strongly connected to the land in which they originated and the majority of Jewsleft Israel. Furthermore, because of the third commandant of the Torah, Jews were not allowed to depict images of their dance. Consequently, their traditional dance was lost forever. However, when the Jews returned to Israel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they found it important to recreate traditions like folk dance to reassert their fractured nationhood after so many years of diaspora. Thus, Israeli folk dance was a means of creating a new Israeli culture. Israeli folk dance was created by using elements from other dance cultures with themes and music of modern Israel. In this paper, I will argue that while anti Semitism resulted in the colonization of Jewish national identity, women re created Israeli folk dance as a means to establish a new Jewish identity, as well as an identity for themselves. In 1894 English was used as the language for instruction in public schools in Hawaii. Then, two years later the policy changed by Act 57 in the Republic of Hawaii(Choy). Act 57 banned ... • 44. Adam And Eve Myths The story of Adam and Eve from The Bible is a mythical story that explains why people are what we are today. It is a myth because it explains why there is fear and pain in the world. It also shows how men and women were created by God. The story of Adam and Eve also explains why there is good and evil. The story of Adam and Eve describes why there is pain and fear. In the beginning of the story Adam and Eve are fearless. Adam and Eve are hubristic and they decide to disobey God s orders. When God takes them out of the garden they begin to realize what fear is. Adam says, I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself (Genesis 3:15). This explains why the story is a myth because it shows why there is fear in the world today. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Osmosis in Potato Tissue Biology Aim: My objective is to plan and conduct an experiment from which I should be able to draw a firm conclusion that will either prove or disprove any predictions I make. This essay aims to assess and investigate the effect of various solution concentrations on the activity of osmosis in plant tissue. Background scientific theory: Plants exchange gases (CO2 and O2) in maintaining vital respiratory processes and in carrying out photosynthesis; they absorb certain minerals and sugars so to use as a source of energy and eradicate wastes in order to maintain specific requirements for survival. Large amounts of water are absorbed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The maximum water potential is nil; an example of which is within pure water hence water molecules will flow from it to any other aqueous solution regardless of how dilute it may be. There are three possible concentrations of solution. The first, a hypertonic solution, has a higher solute concentration than that of the cell and as a result the water will leave the cell resulting in collapsed vacuoles in plant cells. A hypotonic solution, however, has a lower solute concentration than the solute concentration inside the cell and hence the net movement of water inside the cell is at its maximum. Whilst an isotonic solution is when the concentration of solutes is the same inside the cell as it is outside of the cell; in such as case the cell would not lose nor gain any water. This state is otherwise recognized as dynamic Equilibrium where the molecules are randomly distributed despite there still being a rapid net movement of water across the cell membrane in both directions; water movement in opposing directions occur at the same rate and thereby cancel each other out. Larger differences between the concentrations or water potential of the solutions results in a steeper concentration gradient, meaning a faster rate of osmosis. In effect the concentration outside of any cell is proportional to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Problem Of Drug Addicts Currently, the society is employing a significant amount of money and efforts to deal with the continuous increasing of drug addicts within their roots. In fact, the drug problem can be considered by the majority as the greatest problem of the 21th century. Just look, on how it worsened in the last years. Now, it seems that the range of consumers has expanded, and now is embracing almost all ages and classes. In fact, the teens are making the drugs seem like a fashion trend, in which those who do not follow it will be excluded. Considering this fact, and relating it to the need of the human being to feel accepted by the society or a group, helps to understand why the number of drugaddicts is increasing. In the attempt of solving the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Considering the criteria cited above, I had two ideas a comic book or a videogame; but, in the attempt of minimizing as much as possible the costs of the proposal, without compromising the effectiveness of the same, I chose the comic book. I Previous Solution Surely, because of the severity of the drug problem, several solutions were extrapolated and implemented in the attempt to deal with it. However, ones were more efficient than others, but at the same time, none of them represented a real solution for a long time project. For instance, in the article The War On Drugs ... , written by Ewan Hoyle, which is the founder of the Liberal Democrats for Drug Policy Reform, there are several solutions to deal with the drug problem, but each one of them has its constraints (303). One of them, and it was the chosen solution by the author, included a treatment with diamorphine, which is a pharmaceutical drug that changes the neurological system and inhibit the desires of the consumer (303). Even though it seems an extreme measure, the article showed that it carried a high percentage of success on the sample trials. On the other hand, such measure seems to carry a lot of constraints related to the costs. For the costs, even Hoyle stated that this treatment was expensive (304). In his attempt, to back up it, Hoyle stated that the government must do a revision of its policies in a way that facilitate the market for this medicine (304). Well, the ... • 47. Fragile X Syndrome Inherited How is Fragile X Syndrome Inherited? Genes are a huge part of DNA that are passed from generation to generation. There are many genes on each chromosome; we have tens of thousands of genes that tell or bodies on how to develop. Genes are given letters to identify them. The gene responsible for fragile X syndrome is called FMR1. The FMR1 Gene is on the X chromosome. The FMR1 gene appears in four forms that are shown by the number of repeats of a pattern of DNA called CGG repeats. Individuals with less than 45 CGG repeats have a normal FMR1 gene. Those with 45 54 CGG repeats have what is called an intermediate or grey zone allele, which does not cause any of the known fragile X associated disorders. Individuals with 55 200 CGG repeats have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People who are carriers of the Fragile X gene often have high levels of anxiety. Women who are carriers may experience primary ovarian insufficiency, which is a loss of normal function in your ovaries which means they don t release eggs regularly, which causes early menopause. Men and women who are carriers can also develop Fragile X tremor ataxia syndrome (FXTAS), the breaking down of the brain. Men are more likely to develop FXTAS than women. FXTAS usually occurs at the age of 50. It can affect balance and memory, and cause tremors and other neurological problems. A person may be fully affected by Fragile X but not show all of these signs. Here are all of the symptoms under their given ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
