Consisting of or resembling fur (wikifur.org, Furry ). These objects are the well known focus of a
caste of the geek sub culture known as the furry fandom. The furry fandom s members will typically
call themselves furries . There are variations on this idea; the two primary variations are scalies and
avians interested in scaled and feathered creatures respectively. [The] furry fandom is a fandom for
fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics

classifications, the three primary classes involved are gamers , fursuiters , and furry lifestylers . The
gamers appear to be like your average person that enjoys games; however, they focus on games

Essay On Presidential Democracy Vs Parliamentary Democracy
Topic: A presidential democracy is more likely to produce strong, effective government than a
parliamentary democracy.
Introduction
The structure of a governments and party systems are of crucial importance for the functioning and
well stable effective government. In this case let s take example of United States and United Kingdom.
Presidential system of United States;
The United State presidential system is a system of government that features a president as the nation
head of state and active chief executive authority. It is associated with the congressional system of
government. In a presidential system, the central principle is that the legislative and executive
branches of government should be separated.
This lead to the separate election by the electorate or an electoral college of the president, who is
elected to office for a fixed term of office, and can only be remove in extreme cases for gross
misdemeanor by impeachment and dismissal. In addition he or she does not need to choose cabinet
members from or commanding the support of a legislative majority.
As with the president set term of office, the legislature also exists for a set term of office and cannot
be dissolve a head schedule. In the president system, the president usually has special privileges in the
enactment of legislation, namely the possession of a power of veto over legislation of bills, in some
cases subject to the power of the legislature by weighed majority to override the veto.

Ohana Language Conventions
Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen and thank you for this opportunity to share with you today. I am
honoured to discuss with you the effectiveness, in regards to technology and language conventions, of
the short film Ohana. With the intention of creating a film that brought to light serious issues whilst
upholding a prodigious standard as a production, this film was successful as such through the plentiful
access to various technologies as well as the implementation of language conventions and codes. To
begin with, we will be viewing Ohana for the purpose of its reference later on. Media: Ohana In the
viewing of any production, the director s input is palpable as unique and is often attributed to the
director s auteur style. The Auteur Theory in which this notion derives from is attributed to François
Truffaut as he wrote about it an essay entitled A Certain Tendency in French Cinema. In this essay,
Truffaut claimed that directors are able to express their personal ideas in the greatest medium of
contemporary society: film. He is often quoted as saying There are no good and bad movies, only

Therefore, as these shots were distracting and ineffective, they were not included in the final version

the role of note taker an evidence collector must take detailed notes. Not only noting time of initial

Justice Penny White of Tennessee, lost her retention...
Justice Penny White of Tennessee, lost her retention election in 1996 after the Tennessee Conservative
Union campaigned against her, saying she was soft on crime and capital punishment. A retention
election is beneficial because it eliminates Justices that feel pity or emotion towards cases and/or
people. Justice White for example ordered a new death sentence hearing for the case of State v. Odom
and was knocked off the bench in a retention election because of her decision. This retention election
process is beneficial because it allows citizens to retain judges who are doing significantly. It also
allows us as citizens to vote off Judges who we think are doing poorly or do not represent us as a
whole. Justice Penny White ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The implications of a governor targeting this Justice were because she was soft on punishment. The
Republican governor as well as the senators opposed her ( Vile 2003 ). Justice White said that the
Chief Justice wanted to fill her spot with someone in his party (Denver Bar Association). All the signs
of putting someone on death row were there but she preferred not too affirm the death penalty that was
imposed in accordance with the law. In this case of State V. Odom (Vile 2003), the people did not like
the decision in which Justice White made so she lost in a hotly contest in which voted turnout was a
negligible 55 percent. Justice Penny White was not the person the citizen of Tennessee wanted
representing them, when it was time for retention election over half ( 55% ) of the citizen voted her
off. The reason there is penalty for committing a crime is to deter people from committing the same
act again. If you don t be hard on crime then the crime rate will continue to be on the rise . The citizen
wanted someone to represent on behalf of themselves and Justice Penny White was not that person.

Essay About Ataturk
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is known as a very important idealist in Turkey, which had become an idol for
Turks. One of the most important reasons he was that crucial for Turkey was that him being a
nationalist founder and leader, and the first president of the Turkish Republic. Ataturk was born in
Salonika (then known as the Ottoman Empire), in 1881 (Reed 577). According to Gawrych, The Great
War, nonetheless, ended in military defeat for Turkey and the severance of the Arab provinces from
the Ottoman Empire (35). After this defeat, being part of military, Ataturk took the control of
government and brought new reforms. The real truth is that, Ataturk, still being at his young ages,
started to think about making reforms for his country and society, and eventually had reached his goals
making Turkey a free and civilized country, by also being the first president of Turkey. There are
several policies and revolutions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that Ataturk, had pushed aside the traditional organizations, and replaced the modern ones
by applying Revolutions. For example, the law of the hats and clothes were announced, the surname
law was set (he took the name Ataturk ), the approval of the international calendar/clock
measurements were approved, language revolution (new Turkish letters), and improvements in
education and so on. By this, Ataturk had moved Turkey much further on, which still has its impacts
today. Nationalism is also considered as one of his huge achievements, and.as Morin claimed Ataturk
s antireligious attitude marked Turkish nationalism during this era (488). The Republican revolution is
also a nationalist revolution. The purpose of this reformation is to protect the independence of the
Republic of Turkey, and besides to develop the country s political aspect. As a final point, this
nationalism gave the belief that the Turkish state is an indivisible whole

Roots of Anti-Semitism Essay
After learning about the Holocaust, I ve asked myself many times how this could have happened. Why
would anyone believe it s acceptable to massacre an entire people? This is my reasoning for writing
my paper on how Christian theology influenced anti Semitism. Much of the Holocaust appears to have
it s beginning with Christian theology. I will begin my paper with the early writings of Christians and
continue chronologically until after World War II.
The Apostle Paul was one the first people to criticize the Jewish people. At first, he tried to explain to
the Christians not to adopt a superior attitude towards the Jews.

quot; The Gospel of John contains some of the most hostile anti Jewish statement in the Christian
scriptures. So sharp is the contrast in that gospel between Jesus exhortations to his followers to love
one another and the hostile references to the Jews...John is a gospel of Christian love and Jew hatred.
quot; (Charlesworth)
Some examples of John s apparent sentiments towards the Jewish people include the following.
...THE JEWS REPLIED...[JOHN 18:31]
...MY FOLLOWERS WOULD BE FIGHTING TO KEEP ME FROM BEING HANDED OVER TO
THE JEWS...
[JOHN 18:36]
...HE WENT OUT TO THE JEWS AGAIN...[JOHN 18:38]
...THE JEWS ANSWERED HIM, quot;WE HAVE A LAW, AND ACCORDING TO THAT LAW HE
OUGHT TO DIE BECAUSE HE HAS CLAIMED TO BE THE SON OF GOD. quot; [JOHN 19:7]
...THE JEWS CRIED OUT, quot;IF YOU RELEASE THIS MAN, YOU ARE NO FRIEND OF THE

[JOHN 19:12]
...HE SAID TO THE JEWS, quot;HERE IS YOUR KING! quot; THEY CRIED OUT, quot;AWAY
WITH HIM! AWAY WITH HIM! CRUCIFY HIM!... quot;[JOHN 19:14]
Many scholars believe the Jews and Christians were still worshipping together around the middle of
the first century. They discussed and acknowledged their differences, like a family fight. Yet, towards
the end of the first century their relationships deteriorated. After the destruction of the second Temple
in 70 CE, the Gentiles appeared to break away from the Jews. Jewish leaders who

History Of Fabric And Textiles Textile Development During...
The history of fabric and textiles
Textile development during the Industrial Revolution (1780 1850)
In 1968, Eric Hobsbawm said: Whoever says Industrial Revolution says cotton. Among many
historians the Industrial Revolution is considered as the process in which technological changes led by
the mechanized factories of the cotton industry created large profits for innovators that continued in
succeeding decades. It was the key event in the emergence of modern economic growth, which led to
shifting manufacturing from people s houses and shops to factories. It was a time of vivid change,
from hand tools and handmade items, to the products which were produced by machines.
Nevertheless, life improved, the industrial revolution had some harmful consequences, such as
increased pollution, harmful working conditions, employment of women and children, who were made
to work long and hard hours, etc.
The shift to factories in the United States grew out of a process that began in the British textile
industry. British inventors developed machines to do tasks that have been done by hand. Sometimes
the machines replaced other, older and weaker machines. For example the spinning jenny, which was
run by water power, replaced the spinning wheel; the power loom replaced the hand loom. These
machines were small enough to be placed in the cottages. But later, people invented bigger and more
powerful machines, which needed a huge space to be positioned. This was the reason why people

Labor Unions And Its Effect On Income Inequality
LABOR UNIONS With many laws enacted to tarnish their effectiveness in the appearance of a better
functioning economy, labor unions appear to have an unmistakable effect on income inequality.
Western and Rosenfeld explain the power of the labor union and how important of a role it holds for
its workers. Western and Rosenfeld analyzes the contributions that unions made and the consequences
of their decline coupled with the rise in unfair wage distribution. Kristal supports that the lack of
bargaining ability hinders the effectiveness that unions used to have and this event is the result of
computer technology damaging the laborers ability to appear useful and necessary in the eyes of the
capitalists. Union Influence While government policies are a part of Volscho and Kelly s research,
they recognize that other factors affect income inequality. Strong labor unions are capable of reducing
income inequality that is brought on by the decisions made in the market. The stronger a union is, the
more bargaining power they possess so that they are able to fight for better pay and a more equal
distribution of income. Western and Rosenfeld agree with this statement as their research pertains
more on labor unions and their relationship with income inequality. During the 1970 s, labor unions
were at their strongest, with as many as one in three people working in a union. From the 1980 s to
currently, not only has labor union membership decreased to single digits, but wage inequality has

The Sinaloa Cartel is considered the largest and wealthiest organized crime syndicate in the Western

in the Mexican drug trafficking trade. Mexican drug trafficking is estimated by analysts to be worth
$13 billion US a year, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC, 2015, par. 2). Heavily

cartels from the past. In the 1970s and 80s, the marijuana and cocaine trades were dominated by the
Columbians, most notably, the Medellin Cartel. Making its prominent rise under the direction of drug
queen pin Griselda Blanco, the Columbians reached their height of power while following the lead of

Essay about The Cuban Missile Crisis
When President John F. Kennedy failed with the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961, the United
States started placing fifteen Jupiter intermediate range ballistic missiles (IRBM) near Izmir, Turkey.
Even though President Kennedy said that these missiles might have questionable strategic value the
Soviet Premier, Nikita Khrushchev, made America aware of his anger and distain regarding Kennedy s
decision. Khrushchev believed that these missiles were not only an offense to him, but to his country
as well. However, the United States also possessed nuclear submarines which posed an even greater
threat than the IRBM s. The Soviet Union came to realize that they were extremely outmatched in the

Kennedy was, however, determined to take such drastic measures this early on in the conflict and talk
of a blockade was in the air. No matter what the United States would do, officials believed that
retaliation from the Soviets was inevitable. However, anything other than the use of nuclear weapons
was deemed as a smart decision at the time. The decision to invade Cuba was finally thrown out ,
leaving only two decisions left. An air raid on Cuba could be used which would kill many people and
possibly risk nuclear missile launch. The other decision was for a blockade or quarantine to be set up
around Cuba to keep incoming missiles and supplies from reaching the coast. A quarantine of Cuba
would be carried out and seemed to be the best possible choice, under the circumstances. The decision
made by President Kennedy, saved America from nuclear war that day. If the United States had
invaded Cuba then the Soviet Union would have a launched an attack, which in turn would have
caused America to launch their missiles at Cuba and the Soviet Union. This ultimately would have led
to global nuclear warfare and the loss of life would have been substantial. The significance of the
decision not to invade Cuba was a life saving one but, other issues during the short thirteen day

Real World Vs Crucible
The Crucible Compared to the Real World Piers Anthony once said, When one person makes an
accusation, check to make sure that he himself is not the guilty one. Sometimes it is those whose case
is weak who make the most clamour. Everybody has been accused of doing something that they have
not at some point in their life. Being blamed for something that one was not responsible for happens
during adulthood just as much as it does during childhood. False accusations are not uncommon in
today s society. As matter of fact, they ve been prevalent throughout all of history. The Crucible is a

After the night out, she asked the three men to give her a ride back to her friends. McCaffery and the
other two men did just that, without touching her. She received the bite marks from her friends,
because when she returned to her friends, all of them broke out in a ridiculous brawl. Edicio Martinez

In The Skin Of A Lion Essay
The Unknown History
The genre of historical fiction is loved by many authors as it allows them to use the past as an
inspiration while writing a fictional story that will captivate the readers. In the novel In the Skin of a
Lion by Michael Ondaatje, the rich history is explored throughout the novel with the theme of the
unfair treatment of immigrants, the construction of both the Bloor Street Viaduct and the Queen Street
Waterworks and the character of Rowland Harris. By looking at the historical facts in the novel, we
can see why it s considered a historical fiction novel, which most readers fail to recognize; this is
important because Ondaatje chooses this writing style so that the readers can learn about the rich

In the novel, Ondaatje names him Rowland Harris and he s a secondary character in the story.
However, that being said, Rowland Harris is portrayed as a visionary, a dreamer and an achiever. The
author does a great job of bringing this character in the story all while maintaining some great
accomplishments in his life. Roland Harris envisioned a lot of aspects that Toronto now has. During
Harris and Patrick s conversation at The Queen Street Waterworks, Harris says It turned out I was
dreaming about projects for the city that had been rejected over the years. Wonderful things that were
said to be too vulgar or expensive, too this too that. (Ondaatje 237) Roland Harris was a great architect
for the city of Toronto, he was a visionary and wanted to make the city of Toronto grow. This is
directly linked to Toronto s history and Ondaatje uses that secondary character who the readers don t
see a lot throughout the book to talk about someone who dreamed big for Toronto. Harris even says to
Patrick I mean the Bloor Street Viaduct and this building here are just a hint of what could have been
done here. (Ondaatje 237) For someone who was a visionary for Toronto, the sky would have been the
limit if he had the money and the right to keep making the city grow. The Character of Harris has
played a valuable part in the way Toronto is shaped today and Ondaatje knew

Cat Breeds And The Sphynx
Think of strange and unusual cat breeds and the Sphynx is bound to come to mind even if you don t
know the breed s name! The Sphynx is often referred to as the hairless cat. Remember Mr.
Bigglesworth, Dr. Evil s cat in the Austin Powers movies? The Sphynx is not a truly hairless cat,
although it appears to be. The Sphynx s skin is often covered by a very soft peach fuzz. These cats
also are known for their wedge shaped heads and curious natures. Their skin is warm and soft to the
touch, feeling like a very fine leather. The Sphynx may or may not have whiskers. Because they do not
have coats to keep them warm, Sphynx cats tend to be very affectionate, often snuggling up to other
animals and people. If you get one of these cats, prepare to make room under the covers at night, as it
will probably want to curl up next to you. Its lack of a coat means no shedding and no need for
brushing. However, the Sphynx still requires plenty of loving care and maintenance. Body oils tend to
accumulate on their skin, while other cats absorb them in their coats. This means that the Sphynx
requires regular bathing. These cats also should have limited exposure to sunlight, as they can develop
a sunburn similar to that of a human. They also should not be exposed to cold temperatures because of
their lack of a coat for protection. In short, the Sphynx is not an outdoor cat. A common fallacy about
the Sphynx is that is hypoallergenic because of its lack of a coat. It is important to

Summary Of Birth Order Theory
This study was conducted to support Alfred Alder s birth order theory in regards to personality
characteristics. The hypothesis that first born children are more responsible, successful, and obedient
than their younger siblings, while last born children are more manipulative, outgoing and rebellious
were supported by these results. These findings are similar to Paulhus, Trapnell, Chen (1999) study,
results of the study indicated firstborns were nominated by their siblings as most conscientious as well
as most achieving and later born children were more frequently nominated as most liberal, agreeable,
and rebellious. Another study supporting the hypothesis is a study conducted by Zweigenhaft and Von
Ammon (2000). In the study it was hypothesized that later born children were more rebellious then
firstborns. To do this they examined the birth order of a group of U.S. college students who had been
arrested for engaging in civil disobedience in a labor dispute. Later born children were more likely
than firstborns to have been arrested. This provides evidence that later born children are more likely
than firstborns to be rebellious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The female pharaoh, Hatshepsut, is arguably one of the most influential people of ancient Egypt. For
thousands of years, the workings of Hatshepsut have been subject to multiple interpretations, from
both her time and the modern day. An evaluation of the effectiveness of her reign can be resolved from
the reliability and validity of evidence presented today, both primary and secondary.
In one respect, Hatshepsut is viewed as the female pharaoh who had a particularly unsuccessful reign
that was devoid of any real achievements. Historians writing in the 1970 s and 1980 s often made
sexist and unfounded assumptions about Hatshepsut s rule, including her apparent scheming to take
the throne from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some ancient interpretations of Hatshepsut can also be perceived as negative, such as those of Seti I
and Ramses II who deliberately excluded her from the King list under the presumption that he rule
was a threat to order. Also, Thutmose III s defacement of her monuments is thought to have been done
in the act of re establishing ma at and order, as it was believed that a female ruler ultimately defied
this natural balance and therefore male dominance had to be restored.
Other interpretations deduce Hatshepsut as a highly successful pharaoh whose reign significantly
contributed the prosperity and stability of Egypt at the time. Ineni, for example, was an official under
Hatshepsut who talked highly of her; she settled the affairs of the Two Lands...whose plans are
excellent, she who satisfies the two regions when she speaks . This quote demonstrates that officials
from her context believed that she was an effective and efficient ruler who had the support of the
official and peasant class. Modern day historians such as Callender, Tyldestry and Redford also
present a balanced, more positive view of Hatshepsut as a competent and effective pharaoh who
brought peace and prosperity to Egypt. J. Tyldesley, for example, names Hatshepsut as the woman
who led a stable government, had a successful trading mission, and maintained impressive
architectural advances in her building programs. She emphasises how rather than

Butterfly Rydberg Molecule
The topics that I chose for this week is the butterfly Rydberg molecule that I read about in the web

This topic of the butterfly Rydberg molecule directly relates to this week s reading of chapter 3 and
chemical bonds because the observation of the Rydberg molecule has lead to the discovery of a new
type of bond. Do you think other atomic bonds will be discovered in the future?
The butterfly Rydberg molecule which first proposed into 2002 in 14 years later was confirmed. In

The Theme of Social Responsibility in Victorian England Essay
How does dickens explore the theme of social responsibility in
Victorian England?
Charles dickens wrote A Christmas Carol for a certain reason, and that reason was that he wanted to
make people aware of the terrible situation the children of the poor were in. He visited a school in
1843 and was appalled by what he saw there. It was a school for the poorest children to teach them
basic reading and writing skills. The children s employment commission had also shocked him. At
first dickens had the idea of writing a pamphlet called an appeal to the people of England on behalf of
the poor mans child but soon realised that seen as he was the most popular novelist of the time people
would take much more notice he wrote about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sweepers attempt to keep the streets clean of manure. There were pickpockets, prostitutes, drunks,
beggars and vagabonds of every kind to add to the everyday life of
Victorian London.
Up until the second half of the 19th century people were still drinking water from the Thames in
which raw sewage flowed into, causing several outbursts of cholera along with the great stink of
1958, the disease and sewage in the drinking water made a link with
Dr. John to find that all the victims of the cholera outbreak was connected with the same water pump.
A plan was put together by Sir
Joseph Bazalgette, completed in 1875, which finally provided adequate sewers to serve the city.
A new law was put into place the new poor law enacted in 1834.
Before it had been burden of all the parishes to take care of the poor. The new law required that all the
parishes worked together to create regional workhouses where aid could be applied for. The
workhouse was little more than a prison for the poor.

Productive Fear In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Dracula: Productive Fear
The anxieties of empire depicted within Bram Stoker s Dracula have gathered immense criticism and
attention from enthusiasts and scholars. The publication of Stoker s novel in 1897 was in a period
experiencing heightened nationalism together with imperial decadence. Friedrich Kittler claims that
Jonathan Harker, the English solicitor visiting Count Dracula, was an imperial spy (Kittler, 60).
Patrick Brantlinger fruitfully identifies the novel as a piece of imperial Gothicism . This is attributed
to the identification of several main themes including individual regression influenced by increased
nativity together with barbarism and demonism (230). Steven Arata describes Dracula s invasion of
London as an incident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As previously recalled, Morris and Seward were Lucy s suitors and Van Helsing joked about being
Lucy s husband as she received blood from him during a transfusion (Stoker, 158). In the first scene
pertaining to seduction, Harker seeks to recognize the temptress face as her fairness is likened to Lucy
s. This may be projected as the male repression of their desire as they seek to identify that it is not
they who want the temptress, but rather the temptress who has a liking towards them. The guilt
accompanied with illicit desire is turned into aggression leading to the death of Lucy, who is identified
as the dark temptress . This seeks to identify that the calling in the Crew of Light is not influenced by
a mysterious inner voice, but rather through the identification of external divine signs. Van Helsing
articulates this upon completion of the deed as follows:
Now, my friends, one step of our work is done, one the most harrowing to ourselves. But there
remains a greater task: to find out the author of all this our sorrow and to stamp him out. I have clues
which we can follow; but it is a long task, and a difficult [one], and there is danger in it, and pain.
Shall you not all help me? We have learned to believe, all of us is it not so? And since so, do we not
see our duty? Yes! And do we not promise to go on to the bitter end? Each in turn, [they] took his

Literary Analysis Of Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
In recent decades, Cormac McCarthy has staked his claim as one of the all time titans of American
literature through publishing masterpieces like Blood Meridian, Suttree, and The Road. In his works
his advanced level of technical mastery becomes apparent through his expertly harmonized
coordination of literary elements toward certain narrative ends, such as the generation of suspense. In
this light, McCarthy s literary style is a practical one, in that he organizes literary elements in his
works toward actualizing particular goals. In The Road, for instance, McCarthy directs his style
throughout the text so as to maximize the feeling of suspense that readers experience throughout the
book. This kind of stylistic maneuvering is expressed on pages 105 110 and pages 118 123 of the the
text. But, it must be noted here that the generation of suspense in these passages does not result from
similar stylistic approaches. McCarthy uses style in differently in Passage A and Passage B but
ultimately toward the same end, namely generating suspense for readers of The Road. Passage A relies
on dialogue to develop its suspense, whereas the style of Passage B relies on narrative action for its
suspense.
In Passage A, McCarthy uses ambiguous and foreboding dialogue in order to generate narrative
suspense. At the beginning of this passage the father and the son come upon a house at the edge of an
old town s remnants, and the boy asks his father where they are (105). The father ignores the

Confidantes, Marriage, and Friendship in Pride and...
One cannot accomplish much without the help and opinions of people such as their friends, siblings,

feedback. In Pride and Prejudice, a novel by Jane Austen, Elizabeth Bennet is a heroine who is in
desperate need of a confidante. Jane Bennet, Elizabeth s kind and honest sister, becomes that person
Lizzy needs when she is feeling flustered. Jane perfectly fits the criteria of a confidante because she is
optimistic and sanguine, in which she can provide Elizabeth a different, more positive, approach to her
problems. The author uses Jane Bennet to portray a paradigm of a young lady in England during that

Although it may seem to the reader that Jane is idealistic or dishonest, she really says what is on her
mind. Jane truly believes all people are good spirited and that she will never be deceived by anyone.
In this way, the author uses Jane Bennet to give the reader a different perspective of a certain character
in the story: while Elizabeth is always criticizing the many characters in this novel, Jane is there to
deliver a contradictory statement about those characters. Mr. Wickham reveals to Elizabeth that Mr.
Darcy had prevented him from joining the ministry by refusing to supply the money Darcy s father
had intended to provide for Wickham. Upon hearing these revealing statements about Mr. Darcy,
Elizabeth is appalled and outraged at how selfish a man can be. Elizabeth then relates to Jane about
what she had discovered about Mr. Darcy but Jane provides her and the reader with a different, more
optimistic point of view: It is impossible. No man of common humanity, no man who had any value
for his character, could be capable of it. Can his most intimate friends be so excessively deceived in
him? Oh! no (Austen 74). Elizabeth s decision to believe Mr. Wickham originates her prejudice
towards Mr. Darcy into the novel. However, in the end, the reader finds out that Jane had actually been
correct in that Darcy can never have done such a horrible thing and that he had actually given
Wickham the money his father left for him. Jane Bennet is the perfect example of what a

Advertising and Experience Design Strategies
In the business world today, marketers have various options on how to promote and sell their products
and services. On top of the traditional methods of advertising such as print adverts and direct
marketing, today there is web based advertising, email advertising as well as many social media sites
such as Twitter, You tube, Linked In and Facebook. Businesses have now learn that traditional
methods of advertising are not as effective as they used to be. Marketers must realize that promotion
and communication have changed due to the Internet and technological advancement (Molan, 2011,
pp.34). Therefore, due to the existence of a range of advertising channels, marketing executives must
effectively manage the integrated marketing communications (IMC) to achieve desired results (Laric

Hymns In America
I needed a more detailed account of the history and practices of the Swedish American Church. What
were the interactions like between the churches in America and the churches in Sweden? How did
different denominations function and interact? I choose to include this article because the author
answers these questions in the specific context of hymns. Hymns embody the experiential nature of
religion as songs of adoration and worship. The author of the article, George Ericson, begins by
detailing the evolution of hymns through various religious movements in Swedish history. He focuses
on the transatlantic transfer of hymns between America and Sweden. This source reiterates the
importance of Martin Luther and the Reformation. Olavus Petri published the first Hymnal in the
common language as a result of the Reformation (Ericson 103). Hymns shaped the experience of
religion for the common person. Different waves of religious revival inspired new hymns to be

Baptist, Methodist, and Pentecostal hymns were translated from English to Swedish during the 19th
century. Often these songs would be sung to traditional folk tunes (despite some criticism). Some
immigrants would even return to Sweden and share lively tunes and inspiring lyrics on preaching tours
(Ericson 106). Unlike other countries, there was not an official connection between the state church in
Sweden and similar congregations in America. The adoption of new hymns demonstrates the free
churchly attitude apparent in the American Lutheran church. Free church refers to a movement in
Sweden in opposition to the state church which resulted in immigration. From my other sources, I
determined that religious motivations did not dominate Swedish immigration. However, the love for
certain hymns demonstrates a trend for Swedish believers to distance their religious practice from the

Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution Reaction Lab Report
In this experiment, an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction was performed through the addition
of a nitro group to bromobenzene. The experiment uses the nitronium ion, NO2+, which acts as an
electrophile to replace a hydrogen atom in the aromatic system of bromobenzene. The bromine
substituent on the benzene introduces the possibility of isomers from the reaction with the nitronium
ion: NO2+ can be positioned in the ortho position (making 1 bromo 2 nitrobenzene), the meta position
(making 1 bromo 3 nitrobenzene), or the para position (making 1 bromo 4 nitrobenzene). There is also
a chance that poly nitration can occur to produce dinitrobenzene. Since nitro groups are deactivators, it
requires high temperatures to add another nitro group to the benzene ring. To prevent this poly
substitution from occurring, it is important to control the rate of the reaction by monitoring the
temperature during the reaction (the temperature should not exceed 60oC). By controlling the
temperature, there is insufficient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nitric acid, HNO3, does not act as a strong enough electrophile on its own. It needs the assistance of
sulfuric acid, H2SO4. Sulfuric acid, a strong acid, protonates the oxygen that is part of the hydroxy
group on nitric acid to make it a good leaving group. The leaving group (water) departs from the
molecule, leaving the nitronium ion. The nitronium ion is a stronger electrophile than nitric acid and
can nitrate bromobenzene. Bromobenzene was added to the mixture of sulfuric acid and nitric acid
dropwise through a water cooled condenser to prevent the reaction mixture from overheating.
Overheating of the reaction mixture could lead to poly substitution. To prevent overheating, the
temperature of the mixture was maintained to be under 55oC. The acid mixture was swirled to make

we have seen records of how failure is seen from time to time and society to society. Just them as a
comparative to our society recognizes the cultural difference as well as the time gap between how we
perceive defeat. For instance, Athens used plays to communicate that failing at something was okay
and that we needed to show sympathy and helpfulness to those going through a rough time. Whereas
today, as seen in many cases, dropping out of something, or even not succeeding is failure; you must
do well in something to be respected. In the three sources presented, recordly, this is the case. Each
source reviewed and discussed the art of failing as something more than just one mistake, that it is
many complied onto each other causing, as we see it, catastrophe. In all three sources, they discusses
success and failure seen in today s society, which were then analyzed through agreement/overlap and
disagreement.
To begin, all three sources overlap/agree with the same message, that failure is common, but not
accepted. They all suggest that we should learn to become acquainted with it. The more you recognize
what you re not good at and fix it (whether it be dropping it or applying a method) the faster you can
find things you are good at. And, they all state this with reason to support the chance that appears. For
instance, in Outliers, Gladwell explains the chance of a plane crash.

Coffee and Starbucks
Meghan McGowan Professor Gervais Case #3 4/2/12 Starbucks Corporation Summarize the overall
strategy of Starbucks Management in its effort to create and develop a new concept and a rapidly
expanding company. The overall goal of Starbucks Management was to create an American version of
the Italian coffee bars that Howard Schultz had experienced first hand in Milan. He believed that
Starbucks should function as an important part of the community, as a meeting place for its customers.
He wanted Starbucks to become an experience that would differentiate itself from its competitors. One
of their key strategies in meeting this goal is a focus on customer service in order to create an
experience for its consumers. Another one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Improving customer service or adding additional features When Howard Schultz first became part
of the company he realized that one key problem Starbucks was having was that first time consumers
often felt uneasy about their absence of knowledge about high quality coffee. An additional problem
was that the employees came off as arrogant and unapproachable. He then worked with employees to
teach them about friendly customer service and created a pamphlet to teach new customers about
coffee. He also began to offer part time employees health insurance and a stock option plan for all
employees, because he believed that if a company treated their employees well, then they would in
turn treat their consumers well. The additional features that Starbucks offers are fireplaces, couches,
music, Wi Fi access, ability to use paid sites and services like Wall Street Journal s site, exclusive
content and previews, free downloads, local community news, and activities. 3. Pursuing production R
amp;D activities Starbucks is constantly brewing new flavors and blends to offer their consumers a
variety of coffee to try. Flavors are rotated daily or weekly to offer constant variety. They also test new
product offerings like Frappuccino s, Lattes, Skinny Lattes, and seasonal drinks. 4. Striving for
innovation and technological advances One way that Starbucks was able to constantly strive for
innovation was by controlling the cost

Creating a False Memory in the Hippocampus

Problem and Significance
In the human brain, most of our memory is stored and controlled by a part of the brain located in the
center that is called the hippocampus. The hippocampus is crucial because it is in charge of short term
all the way to long term memory storage and damaging it can have many adverse effects on memory.
The memory of a human and animals is very complex and are not perfect recordings of the past and as
such, there are idiosyncrasies with it. Sometimes when people or animals try to remember something
from the past, they may confuse what they are currently

Backward Thing Evaluation Essay
The purpose of this evaluation is to assess the effectiveness and outcomes of the Understanding by
Design: It s a Backward Thing implementation and its impact on the internal and partner facing

maximum efficiency and in a way that helps them achieve their targets, and improve on the projected

What challenges have you experience when using understanding by design consultation framework?
These questions were raised from the logic model created, which was based on the goals of the
understanding by design training program. The evaluation should be conducted to see if the program
outcome were achieved and to answer questions based on the program objective goals and outcomes.
The stakeholders want to identify if the program objective were meet and if the outcomes were
acquired. Also they want to know the strengths and the weaknesses of the program implementation.
The purpose of the evaluation is undeniably to measure the outcomes, evaluate processes, assess the
needs and challenges. These questions will impact the program evaluation and they cover the main
goal of why the program was implemented in the first place. They cover the program objective and its
goals. What is not being evaluated is the financial cost of training implementation and ongoing
support. At this stage, financial cost are not pertinent to the evaluation process because the training is
going to be the new design framework and it is part of the onboarding training for new hire. The
standards identify are reflected in the evaluation questions. The combine evaluation approach or
participant oriented approach and program oriented, involve stakeholders thinking about the meaning
of various constructs or phenomena to be measured, conceptualizing them, and considering how to

Imagining the Future in Iraq Essay
Imagining the Future in Iraq
The future of Iraq remains unclear. There are those who have tried to categorize the current conflict as
the next Vietnam. Others have dubbed it the next Afghanistan, and others still see a future for Iraq
unlike any seen in history. In the midst of all this speculation, one thing is certain: eventually, the US
military must withdraw from occupied Iraq. As a matter of history, occupation does not last unless
there is a concomitant colonization and/or a significant population influx. Since the latter is absent
from the current situation in Iraq, it holds that an eventual American military withdrawal is inevitable.
Interestingly enough, the U.S. s divide and conquer method, i.e. one which attempts ... Show more

Just as in George Orwell s 1984, where the government was in the business of tampering with public
records to push their agenda, so too is the current administration sugar coating the truth with falsehood
and deceptively harming the American public by keeping them in the dark. Wouldn t it be ironic
though if Iraq managed, as in Iran, to take over the American Embassy and declare the independence
of its own theocratic state?
The current situation does after all mirror Iran s prior to the Revolution of 1979 in several ways. The
United States s presence was one that encouraged the political repression of those against the
established power in Iran and does the same today in Iraq. Further, Shias, who constitute sixty percent
of the Iraqi population and almost all of Iran s, tend to gather more than Sunnis in large groups during
such mourning holidays as Ashura and Arba een, and so have a ritual means of gathering en masse.
Also, just like the thousands of troops the U.S. has stationed around the country, so too did the Shah
employ tens of thousands of SAVAK agents, or secret police, to keep a tight grip on any potential
insurrection. Ultimately, the instability of the mass protests frightened the Shah and he fled to Egypt
shortly afterwards. In Iraq, escalating American deaths and an unstable situation could convince the

The history of fabric and textiles Textile development during the Industrial Revolution (1780 1850) In 1968, Eric Hobsbawm said: Whoever says Industrial Revolution says cotton. Among many historians the Industrial Revolution is considered as the process in which technological changes led by the mechanized factories of the cotton industry created large profits for innovators that continued in succeeding decades. It was the key event in the emergence of modern economic growth, which led to shifting manufacturing from people s houses and shops to factories. It was a time of vivid change, from hand tools and handmade items, to the products which were produced by machines. Nevertheless, life improved, the industrial revolution had some harmful consequences, such as increased pollution, harmful working conditions, employment of women and children, who were made to work long and hard hours, etc. The shift to factories in the United States grew out of a process that began in the British textile industry. British inventors developed machines to do tasks that have been done by hand. Sometimes the machines replaced other, older and weaker machines. For example the spinning jenny, which was run by water power, replaced the spinning wheel; the power loom replaced the hand loom. These machines were small enough to be placed in the cottages. Western and Rosenfeld explain the power of the labor union and how important of a role it holds for its workers. Western and Rosenfeld analyzes the contributions that unions made and the consequences of their decline coupled with the rise in unfair wage distribution. Kristal supports that the lack of bargaining ability hinders the effectiveness that unions used to have and this event is the result of computer technology damaging the laborers ability to appear useful and necessary in the eyes of the capitalists. Union Influence While government policies are a part of Volscho and Kelly s research, they recognize that other factors affect income inequality. Strong labor unions are capable of reducing income inequality that is brought on by the decisions made in the market. The stronger a union is, the more bargaining power they possess so that they are able to fight for better pay and a more equal distribution of income. Western and Rosenfeld agree with this statement as their research pertains more on labor unions and their relationship with income inequality. An evaluation of the effectiveness of her reign can be resolved from the reliability and validity of evidence presented today, both primary and secondary. In one respect, Hatshepsut is viewed as the female pharaoh who had a particularly unsuccessful reign that was devoid of any real achievements. Other interpretations deduce Hatshepsut as a highly successful pharaoh whose reign significantly contributed the prosperity and stability of Egypt at the time. Charles dickens wrote A Christmas Carol for a certain reason, and that reason was that he wanted to make people aware of the terrible situation the children of the poor were in. He visited a school in 1843 and was appalled by what he saw there. It was a school for the poorest children to teach them basic reading and writing skills. The children s employment commission had also shocked him. Productive Fear In Bram Stoker s Dracula Dracula: Productive Fear The anxieties of empire depicted within Bram Stoker s Dracula have gathered immense criticism and attention from enthusiasts and scholars. The publication of Stoker s novel in 1897 was in a period experiencing heightened nationalism together with imperial decadence. Friedrich Kittler claims that Jonathan Harker, the English solicitor visiting Count Dracula, was an imperial spy (Kittler, 60). As previously recalled, Morris and Seward were Lucy s suitors and Van Helsing joked about being Lucy s husband as she received blood from him during a transfusion (Stoker, 158). In the first scene pertaining to seduction, Harker seeks to recognize the temptress face as her fairness is likened to Lucy s. This may be projected as the male repression of their desire as they seek to identify that it is not they who want the temptress, but rather the temptress who has a liking towards them. The guilt accompanied with illicit desire is turned into aggression leading to the death of Lucy, who is identified as the dark temptress . This seeks to identify that the calling in the Crew of Light is not influenced by a mysterious inner voice, but rather through the identification of external divine signs. Van Helsing articulates this upon completion of the deed as follows: Now, my friends, one step of our work is done, one the most harrowing to ourselves. But there remains a greater task: to find out the author of all this our sorrow and to stamp him out. I have clues which we can follow; but it is a long task, and a difficult [one], and there is danger in it, and pain. Shall you not all help me? We have learned to believe, all of us is it not so? • 30. Literary Analysis Of Cormac Mccarthy s The Road In recent decades, Cormac McCarthy has staked his claim as one of the all time titans of American literature through publishing masterpieces like Blood Meridian, Suttree, and The Road. In his works his advanced level of technical mastery becomes apparent through his expertly harmonized coordination of literary elements toward certain narrative ends, such as the generation of suspense. In this light, McCarthy s literary style is a practical one, in that he organizes literary elements in his works toward actualizing particular goals. In The Road, for instance, McCarthy directs his style throughout the text so as to maximize the feeling of suspense that readers experience throughout the book. This kind of stylistic maneuvering is expressed on pages 105 110 and pages 118 123 of the the text. But, it must be noted here that the generation of suspense in these passages does not result from similar stylistic approaches. McCarthy uses style in differently in Passage A and Passage B but ultimately toward the same end, namely generating suspense for readers of The Road. Passage A relies on dialogue to develop its suspense, whereas the style of Passage B relies on narrative action for its suspense. In Passage A, McCarthy uses ambiguous and foreboding dialogue in order to generate narrative suspense. At the beginning of this passage the father and the son come upon a house at the edge of an old town s remnants, and the boy asks his father where they are (105). The father ignores the ... Jane truly believes all people are good spirited and that she will never be deceived by anyone. In this way, the author uses Jane Bennet to give the reader a different perspective of a certain character in the story: while Elizabeth is always criticizing the many characters in this novel, Jane is there to deliver a contradictory statement about those characters. Mr. Wickham reveals to Elizabeth that Mr. Darcy had prevented him from joining the ministry by refusing to supply the money Darcy s father had intended to provide for Wickham. Upon hearing these revealing statements about Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth is appalled and outraged at how selfish a man can be. Elizabeth then relates to Jane about what she had discovered about Mr. Darcy but Jane provides her and the reader with a different, more optimistic point of view: It is impossible. No man of common humanity, no man who had any value for his character, could be capable of it. Can his most intimate friends be so excessively deceived in him? Oh! no (Austen 74). Elizabeth s decision to believe Mr. Wickham originates her prejudice towards Mr. Darcy into the novel. • 38. Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution Reaction Lab Report In this experiment, an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction was performed through the addition of a nitro group to bromobenzene. The experiment uses the nitronium ion, NO2+, which acts as an electrophile to replace a hydrogen atom in the aromatic system of bromobenzene. The bromine substituent on the benzene introduces the possibility of isomers from the reaction with the nitronium ion: NO2+ can be positioned in the ortho position (making 1 bromo 2 nitrobenzene), the meta position (making 1 bromo 3 nitrobenzene), or the para position (making 1 bromo 4 nitrobenzene). There is also a chance that poly nitration can occur to produce dinitrobenzene. Since nitro groups are deactivators, it requires high temperatures to add another nitro group to the benzene ring. To prevent this poly substitution from occurring, it is important to control the rate of the reaction by monitoring the temperature during the reaction (the temperature should not exceed 60oC). As early as ancient Athens, we have seen records of how failure is seen from time to time and society to society. Just them as a comparative to our society recognizes the cultural difference as well as the time gap between how we perceive defeat. For instance, Athens used plays to communicate that failing at something was okay and that we needed to show sympathy and helpfulness to those going through a rough time. Whereas today, as seen in many cases, dropping out of something, or even not succeeding is failure; you must do well in something to be respected. In the three sources presented, recordly, this is the case. Each source reviewed and discussed the art of failing as something more than just one mistake, that it is many complied onto each other causing, as we see it, catastrophe. In all three sources, they discusses success and failure seen in today s society, which were then analyzed through agreement/overlap and disagreement. To begin, all three sources overlap/agree with the same message, that failure is common, but not accepted. They all suggest that we should learn to become acquainted with it. Redondo, Tomás J. Ryan, Susumu Tonegawa Problem and Significance In the human brain, most of our memory is stored and controlled by a part of the brain located in the center that is called the hippocampus. • 44. Imagining the Future in Iraq Essay Imagining the Future in Iraq The future of Iraq remains unclear. There are those who have tried to categorize the current conflict as the next Vietnam. Others have dubbed it the next Afghanistan, and others still see a future for Iraq unlike any seen in history. In the midst of all this speculation, one thing is certain: eventually, the US military must withdraw from occupied Iraq. As a matter of history, occupation does not last unless there is a concomitant colonization and/or a significant population influx. Since the latter is absent from the current situation in Iraq, it holds that an eventual American military withdrawal is inevitable. Interestingly enough, the U.S. s divide and conquer method, i.e. one which attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just as in George Orwell s 1984, where the government was in the business of tampering with public records to push their agenda, so too is the current administration sugar coating the truth with falsehood and deceptively harming the American public by keeping them in the dark. Further, Shias, who constitute sixty percent of the Iraqi population and almost all of Iran s, tend to gather more than Sunnis in large groups during such mourning holidays as Ashura and Arba een, and so have a ritual means of gathering en masse. Also, just like the thousands of troops the U.S. has stationed around the country, so too did the Shah employ tens of thousands of SAVAK agents, or secret police, to keep a tight grip on any potential insurrection. Ultimately, the instability of the mass protests frightened the Shah and he fled to Egypt shortly afterwards. In Iraq, escalating American deaths and an unstable situation could convince the ...
