Republic Government Essay
The best government is a Republic government. A Republic government is also known as a direct
democracy. It is very effective and works smoothly. The people are big part of the government,
because they vote on a leader to represent them and make decisions for them. This way of democracy
is amazing because of how the people are such a big part of it. Another interesting fact is that the first
Republic was the Roman Republic. The Roman Republic was an impressive system that lasted for 500
years. It was impressive because it had three branches, the Magistrates, the Senate, and the Assemblies
and Tribunes. The Magistrates were elected officials who enforced laws and judged cases. The Senate
are wealthy citizens who helped pass laws and controlled

Maya Lin Vietnam Veteran Memorial Analysis
When one listens to Anne Wagner telling history about the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Creation that
Maya Lin created and designed, it assist one in appreciating and understanding her work. This is
because Maya Lin used natural material as well as recyclable substances to address environmental
issues that people could easily recognize. As an artist, environmentalist as well as sculptor, she carved
haunting and beautiful imagery to represent the results of environment destruction. Maya Lin won
Vietnam veterans memorial competition since she created a wound on the earth to account for the loss
of soldiers as well as the gravity of the war in Vietnam but unfortunately the design became
controversial. I understand that Maya Lin defended the design and finished and as a result, it the most
appreciated and visited memorial. I appreciate her effort to defend her design from prominent
Politicians and businessmen harassment to have the memorial set up. I trust that her choice to
communicate through art is effective especially when using environment since it is a language that is
simply understood globally. When one view her work that is of environmental concern it gives the
viewer a sense of togetherness since everyone is responsible for the ... Show more content on

Birth of a Worldview, a Review Essay
In Birth of a Worldview: Early Christianity in its Jewish and Pagan Context, Robert Doran attempts to
analyze the development of Christianity in the early period of its formation and how it related to the
Jewish and the pagan (Roman) religions throughout its development in early times. The text begins
with a historical outline of the development of the early Christian world and then delves into a more
theological analysis in the latter portions. The development of the book mirrors the development of
Christianity itself, which was focused early on with finding ways to worship and expand the faith in a
world that was very anti Christian. Once it had become more accepted throughout the world, Christian
writing and thought about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now that Christianity was favored, many Christians sought to suppress pagan religions. However, the
Edict of Milan promoted acceptance of all religions and so pagan practices were tolerated throughout
much of the fourth century, although this too was to change toward the latter part of the century, when
in 392 emperor Theodosius issued a decree which banned many pagan activities. As a result of these
elements, Christianity had seen drastic changes during a time span of approximately one hundred
years.
The following chapter, Cosmos: The Quest for Order, looks at the development of cosmology as it
related to Christianity during the religion s early years. The Christian ideas on cosmology were
heavily influenced by Stoicism and Platonism, two of the leading philosophic traditions of the time
period (34.) Both schools of thought followed the belief that the universe exhibited clear signs of order
in its design which were clearly the work of a creator.
The Stoic contribution to Christian theology was primarily with the concept of logos, or word, which
is used in the Gospel of John to refer to the Word of God (John 1:1 3.) Plato contributed the idea of an
incorporeal mind or soul which is separate from the body. Philo of Alexandria later used this concept
to explain the two different creation accounts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2, explaining that one relates
to the world

Catholic Church Corruption
Over five hundred years ago, the Roman Catholic Church was very corrupt, and extorted money from
people by convincing them that through indulgences, they could pass through purgatory and into
heaven. Martin Luther witnessed this corruption and sought reformation in the church. After realizing
that the church would not change its system, Luther developed another form of Christianity, now
called Lutheranism. Lutheranism was founded on the notion of justification, and was confirmed
through the bible. When people of the Roman Church heard of this, many converted to Lutheranism,
because they would much rather praise God s grace than pay their way into heaven and debt.
Although, service to God is important in a good Christian s life, their faith in the Lord transcends the
works, and through that faith alone they will live an eternal life. Many actions such as indulgences and
ceremonies were thought to be the most important factor to living an afterlife in heaven, but this
contradicts what is written in the bible. The most popular form of salvation for people was purchasing
indulgences, which were redemptions for sinning and got you a step closer to Heaven. Many of the
Roman Catholic Church members believed that, the indulgence was thus the means by which internal
reform could be achieved (Tingle 191). This distorted way of thinking conned people into to spending
their money on pieces of paper, which claimed to give the owner pardons for their sins. Primarily, this

Psychology Of The Movie Psycho
The movie Psycho was directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960. When Psycho was first released they
implemented a rule that no one could come into the movie late, and I guess that was a thing that
happened a lot back then. People were just like I got a few minutes, let me go into this movie, I don t
care if it started. But they were having none of that with Psycho. Once the movie started the doors
were closed, no one was allowed in. In the previews they asked the audience to not divulge any of the
secrets of the movie to their friends or family after they see it. And audiences obeyed, they didn t go
out and blabber about it like people do these days. You could not get away with that today, but
audiences were cool back then. Because they didn t let the audience in after the movie started, they
didn t allow critics to watch the movie ahead of time either. The critics had to go with the audiences
on opening day to see the movie. They were not happy about that because they were being treated like
peasants, like any other viewer. I guess they thought they were better than everybody else, as some
critics actually gave them bad reviews basically because they didn t get a special screening. Even
before audiences watched the movie, their psychological needs start to be met as hype and suspense is
built with the secrets people need to keep. The suspense is kept up throughout the movie from Marion
s get away and death, to the twist at the end.
The plot of this is we are introduced to

Lucretius and Plato on the Mortality of the Soul
Patrick McCleery
Essay I: Lucretius and Plato on the Mortality of the Soul
In this essay it will be argued that the soul is mortal and does not survive the death of the body. As
support, the following arguments from Lucretius will be examined: the proof from the atomic
structure of the soul, the proof from parallelism of mind and body, the proof from the sympatheia of
mind and body, and the proof from the structural connection between mind and body. The following
arguments from Plato will be used as counterarguments against Lucretius: the cyclical argument, the
affinity argument, the argument from the form of life, and the recollection argument. It will be shown
that Plato s premises lack validity and that Lucretius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The next argument from Lucretius is the proof from sympaethia of mind and body. The argument from
medicine is an example of this type of argument. The argument from medicine states that the mind can
be cured by medicine just like the body, which is mortal. Since that which is immortal cannot be
altered in any way, it could not be cured. Since the mind can be cured, the mind (soul) is not immortal.
The affinity argument from Plato could be seen as a counterargument. The affinity argument states
that the soul resembles that which is invisible and divine, while the body resembles the visible and
corporeal. Since the invisible and divine outlasts the visible and corporeal, the soul must outlast the
death of the body. This argument fails in a number of ways, but in relation to Lucretius, no reason is
given for why the soul cannot resemble the visible and corporeal, as Lucretius demonstrates in the
sympaethia arguments.

B: To be cured requires alteration
C: The mind (soul) can be altered

is not clear that any of these children were being supported by their father to fall under the designation
of breadwinner. Emily is the twin of Martha. Emily Rooney born 1950 is an American journalist, TV

Breastfeeding Duration Paper
Breastfeeding Duration Related to Education and Support from the Maternity Nurse The standard for
exclusive breastfeeding after birth is six months to one year (Briere, Cong, Cusson, McGrath, 2014),
but the percentage of mothers breastfeeding for the full duration is low. Specifically, the percent of
newborns receiving any breast milk for six months is 43% and only 23% receive it for the full year
(Beaman, Bernaix, Schmidt, Harris, Miller, 2010). There are many factors responsible for these
statistics and multiple research studies have and are being conducted to fully understand which factors
have the biggest impact. Throughout these studies, education and support from the nurse during
pregnancy and after birth influence how mothers perceive breastfeeding, and a positive maternal
perception will lead to longer exclusive breastfeeding. In order to achieve this, nurses need to facilitate
a comfortable and knowledgable foundation starting during pregnancy and extending after discharge.

Some mothers may desire to breastfeed, but are concerned with how their significant other or family
may feel about it. It is important to involve the mother s partner or support person so that there is
understanding and acceptance once the family returns home. Nurses can also provide support. For
mothers who do not feel as though they are supported at home, lack support all together, or just feel
comfortable having a professional to talk to, in home visits or telephone sessions with a maternity
nurse can be very beneficial. If mothers do not have a support system, they can be faced with
challenges that could lead to discontinuation of breastfeeding. One study showed that mothers with no
support system had a median of only 17 days lactation, where as mothers with a large support system
had a median of 270 days (Briere et al.,

Examples Of Fallacy Of Hasty Generalization
1. Please re examine the way the conclusion was written. Is the statement of the conclusion biased? Is
the definition of the key terms neutral and acceptable? Or is it controversial? Is there a need to revise
the statement of the conclusion?
The way the conclusion was written is unbiased for it was clearly presented and stated. The terms are
evidently defined as well and so, no further revision of the conclusion is needed.
2. Next, re examine the claim of the conclusion: If it is an empirical generalization, then challenge it
by demanding the required evidence for many, most or all claim in the premises set. If the required
evidence for the generalization was not offered in the premise set, then reject the argument for having

You know that generalizations can be challenged by citing that the observed cases are not
representative of the population or that the sample is not large enough, hence the fallacy of hasty
generalization is made.
Premises 1, 2 and 3 prove the generalization since both were able to satisfy the requirement of the
term some that at least one reported case of a child negatively affected by television viewing be
presented. Hence, fallacy of hasty generalization is not made.
b. Another tactic is to demonstrate that the observed cases are biased because they were not observed
in every possible variety of time, place and circumstance and that a thorough search for counter
examples was not done.
Unfortunately, there were no scientific studies presented about how people from different places
around the world and how people from different age groups respond to the effects of television
watching. The genetic makeup of people varies hence, the conclusion may not be true to some.
c. Then, to clinch your point, produce the counter example. Caution: a counter example applies only to
an all claim; but very few are aware of this. You could use this to your advantage. In contrast, to
challenge a most claim you need many counter

Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Analysis
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie is a novel about two boys, a narrator and Luo,
who are undergoing re education in the mountains amidst the cultural revolution in communist China.
Sijie showcases the harsh reality of re education, and how certain events change the way the two boys
think and behave. This passage focuses on the narrator, as he takes advantage of an opportunity to
inflict pain on the village headman while he is having a tooth removed. The transition from the
narrator s fear and discomfort at the beginning of the passage to outright vindictiveness by the end
reveals his resentment toward re education.
In lines 1 15, the narrator begins the operation, revealing the narrator s anxiety and discomfort. Sijie
used words like trepidation and brace to describe the narrator s feelings as the procedure began. This
anticipative diction highlights the apprehension the narrator feels, reinforcing how uncomfortable and
afraid he feels of the events to follow. The tension in the scene builds through the use of alliteration.
The movement of the drill is described as a relentless rhythm, emphasizing the narrator s lack of
control during his assignment. Additionally, to emphasize the perilous nature of the narrator s
situation, words like juddered, and trembled were used to describe the drill. The description mirrors
the narrator s apprehension from the beginning of the passage, showing that the drill is, in essence, an
extension of the narrator.

Redistricting Essay
Redistricting is defined within our textbook as the redrawing of Congressional and other legislative
district lines following the census to accommodate population shifts and to keep districts as equal as
possible in population. Redistricting occurs after a census has been completed every 10 years to
maintain a more equitably distribution of fairness among minorities within each state but each state
also retains the right to request to redraw district boundaries more frequently if then need should arise.
Our study and its subsequent design ensure that the voters that who were moved into these districts are
comparable to the voters that still remain within the existing districts. Redistricting also permits us to
fittingly model the miscellany procedure. To guarantee the voters a sense of fairness and to fight
against vote reduction and weakening, these regions are drawn concisely so that a margin of the voting
age population within the newly drawn districts are minorities. In both 1990 and 2000, after each
census was performed, North Carolina gained 1 seat in the house. North Carolina gained the 11th

similar to the NDT group, during the first hour, and spent the second hour in the suit, where they

By contrast, oil pipelines carry far more crude oil and have fewer leaks per mile. They also present
fewer safety risks than the 2009 explosions when Burlington Northern Santa Fe oil cars caught fire in

MSC Qualification In Healthcare Leadership
On the 29th June 2015 I started my MSC qualification in Healthcare Leadership. I was given my first
assignment to deliver a teaching session to a small group of colleagues on why leadership behaviours
matters to health and social care. I was immediately anxious and nervous about delivering this session,
I didn t want to say the wrong thing or not be able to answer questions properly. I did a teaching
session a few weeks prior on a different subject and initially felt the same.
Afterwards, I was reassured in myself that I had delivered a well structured and informative session
that my colleagues could relate to.
At the time I did not feel that my colleagues were interested in the session or understood the context
that leaders can have an influence in patient care. One of the first reviews carried out shows that
leaders are able directly to affect the safety of their team s actions and outcomes an extremely
important finding for patient care. (Jenny Firth Cozens and Derek Mowbray). I decided to develop the
session around the Francis report of mid Staffordshire. This gave a true reflection into why leadership
behaviours directly affect patient care. This report was an example where hundreds of people were let

Prohibition, and the development of the sport NASCAR...
Prohibition, and the development of the sport NASCAR NASCAR wasn t always one of America s
favorite things to watch or a multimillion dollar sport. It was actually inspired by criminal activity
during the twentieth century. How racecars became part of American life goes back to the early days
of prohibition and how gangsters avoided the law. During this time temperance organizations wanted
to restrict or abolish the consumption of alcoholic beverages. By the early 20th century, women s
groups throughout the country viewed the sale and consumption of liquor was disrupting family life,
and destroying marriages. The Anti Saloon League , established in 1893, led a wave of protests in

to Daytona Beach in 1935 to escape the harsh affects of the Great Depression. He formed the idea that
people would enjoy to watch unmodified cars race. He put his plan into action and soon he had many
race enthusiasts to come watch these dangerous high speed races. Daytona Beach became known as
the place to set land speed records. The beach was filled with racecar fans from across the globe.
Fifteen records were set at the beach between 1905 and 1935. In 1936 the course began hosting racing
events. Drivers raced a 1.5 to a 2 mile stretch of beach as a straightaway, and beachfront highway A1A

Economic Activities of Developing Countries
The economical activities of the developing countries hugely borrow from the development of the
road network systems. Road networks contribute notable about the 40% of the national traffics
especially in the third world countries. However, the third world countries have a limited amount of
necessary road lane that would facilitate the development prerequisite for the eventual prosperity vital
for them. The road networks percentage is dismally low recording to 14% of the world total road
networks. Most of the third world countries experiences congested road networks due to the extensive
importation of the second hand vehicles that are cheaper but prone to poor quality. The rate of the
development of the road networks is at a slower pace as compared to the pace at which the road
networks are being established. The limited number of the roads available is usually overused thus
leading perennial repairs and rehabilitation. South Africa has a better road network system as
compared to other countries in Africa. The South African country poses good and effective
performance in the economical growth borrowing from the extensive road network and the large
amount of the natural resources available to its disposal. The country has initiated excellent practice of
management that spurs its growth. China economy is on rise as a result to huge investment in the

Discursive Violence in Silko’s Yashtoah
With the help of, or the lack thereof, written history has drastically changed oral tradition. In Leslie
Marmon Silko s Storyteller, she tells her story and the story of her people. Oral tradition is essential to
the Native American culture. These stories are handed down from generation to the next. The stories
are sacred and those who know the stories are expected to protect the sanctity and validity of these
stories. Silko invites the readers into the Laguna culture with the stories, including Yashtoah , that give
a glimpse of the values of the Laguna tribe. Without doubt, as these stories are passed down, some
parts may be left out which is known as discursive violence. The transition from oral tradition to
written history, entire cultures and their traditions can be lost or forgotten. With the use of syntax,
natural images, punctuation, and the presence of surrealism, the Yashtoah story is an example of the
discursive violence present in this text.
The text offers a very simple and informal word choice. The syntax contributes to Silko s attempt to
counter discursive violence. The use of everyday words assists in the validity of the story and how it is
passed down from generation to generation. Also, the narrator uses native Indian vocabulary that also
could be seen as countering discursive violence. Using vocabulary familiar to the tribe makes the
communication between the storyteller and the audience easier. It also aids in the understanding of the
story.

Others are able to have the talent of writing down the issues going on without expressing the idea in

A Large Scale Version Of A Small Zip Lock Bag
A microcosm is basically a smaller scale version of a greater population, or a miniature. At the
beginning of this semester, we began the construction of our own miniature worlds within the
confinements of a small zip lock bag. We observed the changes and growth of life inside these bags
over the span of a few weeks. The reason for setting up these projects for weeks at a time, was to get a
better range of how things change and grow over time, sort of like a smaller scale of how it would
really be if grown outside the bag.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The materials that were used in this microcosm project consisted of
soil, a handful if pro mix potting soil, a variety of seeds and seedlings, a small square of leather,
worms, H2O and CO2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leather was added in order to begin the growth of moss in our microcosm. Once all of this was set
up, we needed to add the living organisms, the worms. Being the first day, we only added 2 worms,
one earthworm and 1 red worm. As soon as the set up was finished, we moved our microcosms to the
back, to which they were kept at a standard temperature of 70.5°F, and at a humidity of 53%. It
received natural lighting as well as light from 25watt incandescent light bulbs.
Week 1: By the second week, there wasn t much preparation left, simply added 2 more worms, and
added a bit more water.
Week 2: This was the last time more worms were added to the experiment, totaling a good 6 worms, 3
of each red worm, and 3 earthworms. Added H2O.
Week 3: No new forms of life were added, but the abiotic factors did end up changing, which would
result in the microcosm changes being a bit different. The temperature was now changed to about 69 °
F, and the humidity went from 53% to 54.5%. The other factors such as light, remained constant.
Added a bit of H2O in order to keep the microcosm moist for the worms to thrive and plants to grow.
RESULTS:
Week 1: After simply one week, there was tremendous amount of growth in the microcosm. It was
already full of small plant life. There were plenty of small sprouts from all the big seeds and small
seedlings. For the garden bean, it grew to become approximately 150mm tall. The little peas

Review Of Genome-Wide Analysis Of Trx Family In Cotton...
Discussion
This work provides the first report on genome wide analysis and characterization of TRX family in
cotton genomes. We found that there are 150 genes in Gossypium hirsutum, 92 genes in Gossypium
arboreum and 81 genes in Gossypium Ramondii. According to domain number, GhTRX genes divided
into five subfamilies (TRX A, TRX B, TRX O, TRX ERp29 and TRX TPR_1_2).This result is in
agreement with previous study in other species such as rice, Arabidopsis and sorghum(Choi, Jeong,
Kende, 2004). In addition, the majority of TRX genes in upland cotton belonging to subfamily TRX A
and TRX B agreeing with previous studies in rice, maize, soybean and poplar (ref) this finding

Depending on events, evolutionary origin of the GhTRX genes might undertake 2 evolutionary stages;
last 0.31 and 1.08 mya. Evolutionary in G. hirsutum happened after rice and Arabidopsis. There
were10 duplicated pairs in rice Thioredoxin gene family, its Evolutionary origin might undertake 3
evolutionary stages; events were ranged from 9 to 70 MYA (Ref) whereas the genome of the ancestor
of Arabidopsis underwent a duplication event about 24 40 MYA, shortly after the divergence from the
cotton ancestor. Approximately 14% of paralogous pairs remain up to date (Meyer et al., 2005). In
general duplication of GhTRX happened after OsTRX and ATTRX and the number of genes
duplicated was lower than in rice and Arabidopsis; this May be due to loss of most paralogues (Ref).
GhTRX A subfamily was largest amongst GhTRXs subfamilies; agreeing with previous study in rice,
Arabidopsis and sorghum (Chibani, Wingsle, Jacquot, Gelhaye, Rouhier, 2009). High number of TRX
A members may be due to duplication (Nuruzzaman et al., 2012), this explains multiple members of
TRX A family in G.hirsutum. GhTRX genes roles under different stresses
Six GhTRX genes were selected randomly to analyze their function in specific tissue, leaf
development stages, phytohormones and abiotic stress. In specific tissue, all genes were highly
expressed in various tissues suggesting that these genes may have crucial functions in cotton growth
and development. These results agree with previous study in

The Effects Of Television On Children s Television
In today s mass media world, television is one of the most pervasive and influential form of mass
communication for children. Children are now born into homes in which for the first time in American
history a centralized commercial institution, Television, rather than parents tells them about the way
they need to act according to their gender roles (Signorelli, 2001). The more time viewers spend with
television the more likely their conceptions about the world and its people will reflect what they see
on television (Signorelli, 2001). Through pursuing an experiment and reading the findings of

Also, it can be seen that the age gap between female and male characters has decreased dramatically
from four years to an average of 2 years since the 1990s. Based on my observations, Cartoon and PBS
shows seem to have removed the age gap between

Conviction-Trusted Advisors
In the modern age of financial practice, securities salespeople no longer call themselves brokers or
registered representatives. They now go by names like financial consultant or investment specialist.
Many advisors continue to charge commissions and work in a mainly transaction based model, but
many have also converted to a fee based practice, charging management fees to oversee client assets.
Most financial advisors work for one of the major brokerage firms, banks, or insurance companies.
There is also a relatively small but growing contingent of independent advisors who are not affiliated
with any outside financial entity. Most of these advisors are either solo practitioners or small

Trusted advisors understand that the most prudent course of action is not always the easiest one to

and help a client understand which approach would be best for them. In contrast, a facilitator may
allow or even encourage a client to make decisions that might feel good in the short run but are
counterproductive long term. They might do this out of fear of losing business or a preference for
expediency. Facilitators generally do not bring discipline and rationality to the investment process,
which is a big part of the value of having an advisor. This is unfortunate because in emotional times

more than one million inmates, and the number of inmates in the future looks greater, therefore, the
prison system will increase over the years to come (2006).
There are many issues that are facing the corrections system and administrators in the future. With the
lack of tactical planning and the involvement of the government makes it harder for the corrections
system to operate in the future. There are also many different trends that can also bring a positive
impact on the future of corrections, and that can help the prisons run smoothly, therefore, with the
proper training of security could help incarcerate the inmates without any major issues. With the

operation, which will then help the prisons, operate and it will also help with the public, because this
will make the public feel safe and secure.

My Family And The Family
Families have played a crucial role in the formation of civilization since the beginning of time.
Although the definition of what a family consists of has constantly changed and evolved, the main
idea behind the raising and continuation of the human race has always been the primary goal. As
different individuals and groups have risen to power and fallen from it there have been different
political and economic shifts that have impacted the ideals behind family. Oftentimes, people would
be highly impacted by such worldly changes and it would create personal problems leading to
emigration as well as other hardships. Mills discusses the way that personal troubles are often
contrasted with public issues even though they typically intertwine or relate in one way or another. In
my family, heritage is something that is extremely important. On my mom s side, one of my great
aunts started a Facebook page dedicated just to posting old pictures with historical context of some of
my late family members. Although they have been deceased for most of, or my entire lifetime, it is
really eye opening to get a brief glimpse into the lives they lead and why they lived that way. Most of
my family is from Indiana currently, but we have ties leading back to the early 1900s in France. There
is no certain date as to when my great great great grandfather moved, but we know it was before 1920
so it can be inferred that perhaps the emigration had to do with political hardship created when France

the truth of religion.
In the past the study of religion was used both to criticize and to defend a particular religion (usually
Christianity). I do not however aim at providing arguments that a certain religion (e.g. Christianity) or
religion in general is true. I hope, however, that my analysis will contribute to the solution of the
problem of truth of religion in general and of religions other than Christianity and will do this from a
neutral point of view, not from that of the Christian religion.
At the very beginning we face the problem of the multitude of expressions: truth question in religion,
truth of religion, truth about religion, religious truth, truth in religion. Which of them should then be
used in discussing our issue? Treating language as an active instrument of cognition and notions as
useful tools I claim that each of them, even if it has a slightly different meaning, can be employed.
However, one needs carefully to determine the following issues: (1) what is meant by religion; (2)
how the notions of truth and truth of religion are to be understood; (3) what can be competently said
with regard to the question of the truth of religion by each particular kind of studies of religion.
The question of truth of religion was vehemently discussed at the dawn of the comparative studies of

Effects Of Alcohol Advertising On Adolescents
Alcohol advertising is abundant globally. It is vital that adolescents are to be raised in a positive and
healthy setting. Particular consumer segments are considered to be more subtle towards the negative
impact of advertising (Morgan, Schuler and Stoltman, 1995). Due to the new social networking
technologies exist today and the various way of advertising, it is not surprising that adolescents are
exposed to alcohol advertising as direct promotions are easy and voluminous. A large number of
research have been performed regarding the effect of alcohol advertising and marketing on the
drinking of adolescents is highly debated globally (Smith and Foxcroft, 2009). Regardless of most
statistics indicating that alcohol advertising relates to the higher consumption of alcohol, early
commencement of drinking and the positive eagerness among adolescents, advertisements with youth
friendly attributes as well as new alcohol products are remitting by alcohol companies. This paper
analyses the research methodologies used in selected previous literatures to conduct their research
regarding the effect of alcohol advertising on adolescents. Accordingly, the limitations for the
methodologies used in the selected articles are discussed. Consequently, this paper further suggests a

  • 2. Republic Government Essay The best government is a Republic government. A Republic government is also known as a direct democracy. It is very effective and works smoothly. The people are big part of the government, because they vote on a leader to represent them and make decisions for them. This way of democracy is amazing because of how the people are such a big part of it. Another interesting fact is that the first Republic was the Roman Republic. The Roman Republic was an impressive system that lasted for 500 years. It was impressive because it had three branches, the Magistrates, the Senate, and the Assemblies and Tribunes. The Magistrates were elected officials who enforced laws and judged cases. The Senate are wealthy citizens who helped pass laws and controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Maya Lin Vietnam Veteran Memorial Analysis When one listens to Anne Wagner telling history about the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Creation that Maya Lin created and designed, it assist one in appreciating and understanding her work. This is because Maya Lin used natural material as well as recyclable substances to address environmental issues that people could easily recognize. As an artist, environmentalist as well as sculptor, she carved haunting and beautiful imagery to represent the results of environment destruction. Maya Lin won Vietnam veterans memorial competition since she created a wound on the earth to account for the loss of soldiers as well as the gravity of the war in Vietnam but unfortunately the design became controversial. I understand that Maya Lin defended the design and finished and as a result, it the most appreciated and visited memorial. I appreciate her effort to defend her design from prominent Politicians and businessmen harassment to have the memorial set up. I trust that her choice to communicate through art is effective especially when using environment since it is a language that is simply understood globally. When one view her work that is of environmental concern it gives the viewer a sense of togetherness since everyone is responsible for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Birth of a Worldview, a Review Essay In Birth of a Worldview: Early Christianity in its Jewish and Pagan Context, Robert Doran attempts to analyze the development of Christianity in the early period of its formation and how it related to the Jewish and the pagan (Roman) religions throughout its development in early times. The text begins with a historical outline of the development of the early Christian world and then delves into a more theological analysis in the latter portions. The development of the book mirrors the development of Christianity itself, which was focused early on with finding ways to worship and expand the faith in a world that was very anti Christian. Once it had become more accepted throughout the world, Christian writing and thought about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now that Christianity was favored, many Christians sought to suppress pagan religions. However, the Edict of Milan promoted acceptance of all religions and so pagan practices were tolerated throughout much of the fourth century, although this too was to change toward the latter part of the century, when in 392 emperor Theodosius issued a decree which banned many pagan activities. As a result of these elements, Christianity had seen drastic changes during a time span of approximately one hundred years. The following chapter, Cosmos: The Quest for Order, looks at the development of cosmology as it related to Christianity during the religion s early years. The Christian ideas on cosmology were heavily influenced by Stoicism and Platonism, two of the leading philosophic traditions of the time period (34.) Both schools of thought followed the belief that the universe exhibited clear signs of order in its design which were clearly the work of a creator. The Stoic contribution to Christian theology was primarily with the concept of logos, or word, which is used in the Gospel of John to refer to the Word of God (John 1:1 3.) Plato contributed the idea of an incorporeal mind or soul which is separate from the body. Philo of Alexandria later used this concept to explain the two different creation accounts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2, explaining that one relates to the world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Catholic Church Corruption Over five hundred years ago, the Roman Catholic Church was very corrupt, and extorted money from people by convincing them that through indulgences, they could pass through purgatory and into heaven. Martin Luther witnessed this corruption and sought reformation in the church. After realizing that the church would not change its system, Luther developed another form of Christianity, now called Lutheranism. Lutheranism was founded on the notion of justification, and was confirmed through the bible. When people of the Roman Church heard of this, many converted to Lutheranism, because they would much rather praise God s grace than pay their way into heaven and debt. Although, service to God is important in a good Christian s life, their faith in the Lord transcends the works, and through that faith alone they will live an eternal life. Many actions such as indulgences and ceremonies were thought to be the most important factor to living an afterlife in heaven, but this contradicts what is written in the bible. The most popular form of salvation for people was purchasing indulgences, which were redemptions for sinning and got you a step closer to Heaven. Many of the Roman Catholic Church members believed that, the indulgence was thus the means by which internal reform could be achieved (Tingle 191). This distorted way of thinking conned people into to spending their money on pieces of paper, which claimed to give the owner pardons for their sins. Primarily, this was ... • 6. Psychology Of The Movie Psycho The movie Psycho was directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960. When Psycho was first released they implemented a rule that no one could come into the movie late, and I guess that was a thing that happened a lot back then. People were just like I got a few minutes, let me go into this movie, I don t care if it started. But they were having none of that with Psycho. Once the movie started the doors were closed, no one was allowed in. In the previews they asked the audience to not divulge any of the secrets of the movie to their friends or family after they see it. And audiences obeyed, they didn t go out and blabber about it like people do these days. You could not get away with that today, but audiences were cool back then. Because they didn t let the audience in after the movie started, they didn t allow critics to watch the movie ahead of time either. The critics had to go with the audiences on opening day to see the movie. They were not happy about that because they were being treated like peasants, like any other viewer. I guess they thought they were better than everybody else, as some critics actually gave them bad reviews basically because they didn t get a special screening. Even before audiences watched the movie, their psychological needs start to be met as hype and suspense is built with the secrets people need to keep. The suspense is kept up throughout the movie from Marion s get away and death, to the twist at the end. The plot of this is we are introduced to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Lucretius and Plato on the Mortality of the Soul Patrick McCleery Essay I: Lucretius and Plato on the Mortality of the Soul In this essay it will be argued that the soul is mortal and does not survive the death of the body. As support, the following arguments from Lucretius will be examined: the proof from the atomic structure of the soul, the proof from parallelism of mind and body, the proof from the sympatheia of mind and body, and the proof from the structural connection between mind and body. The following arguments from Plato will be used as counterarguments against Lucretius: the cyclical argument, the affinity argument, the argument from the form of life, and the recollection argument. It will be shown that Plato s premises lack validity and that Lucretius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A: The soul and the body are parallel to each other B: The body moves in one direction C: The soul moves in the same direction A  B  C A  B C The next argument from Lucretius is the proof from sympaethia of mind and body. The argument from medicine is an example of this type of argument. The argument from medicine states that the mind can be cured by medicine just like the body, which is mortal. Since that which is immortal cannot be altered in any way, it could not be cured. Since the mind can be cured, the mind (soul) is not immortal. The affinity argument from Plato could be seen as a counterargument. The affinity argument states that the soul resembles that which is invisible and divine, while the body resembles the visible and corporeal. Since the invisible and divine outlasts the visible and corporeal, the soul must outlast the death of the body. This argument fails in a number of ways, but in relation to Lucretius, no reason is given for why the soul cannot resemble the visible and corporeal, as Lucretius demonstrates in the sympaethia arguments. A: The mind can be cured with medicine B: To be cured requires alteration C: The mind (soul) can be altered A  B  C A  B C The final argument from Lucretius is the proof from the structural connection of mind and body. • 9. Breastfeeding Duration Paper Breastfeeding Duration Related to Education and Support from the Maternity Nurse The standard for exclusive breastfeeding after birth is six months to one year (Briere, Cong, Cusson, McGrath, 2014), but the percentage of mothers breastfeeding for the full duration is low. Specifically, the percent of newborns receiving any breast milk for six months is 43% and only 23% receive it for the full year (Beaman, Bernaix, Schmidt, Harris, Miller, 2010). There are many factors responsible for these statistics and multiple research studies have and are being conducted to fully understand which factors have the biggest impact. Throughout these studies, education and support from the nurse during pregnancy and after birth influence how mothers perceive breastfeeding, and a positive maternal perception will lead to longer exclusive breastfeeding. In order to achieve this, nurses need to facilitate a comfortable and knowledgable foundation starting during pregnancy and extending after discharge. Background ... Sijie showcases the harsh reality of re education, and how certain events change the way the two boys think and behave. This passage focuses on the narrator, as he takes advantage of an opportunity to inflict pain on the village headman while he is having a tooth removed. The transition from the narrator s fear and discomfort at the beginning of the passage to outright vindictiveness by the end reveals his resentment toward re education. In lines 1 15, the narrator begins the operation, revealing the narrator s anxiety and discomfort. Sijie used words like trepidation and brace to describe the narrator s feelings as the procedure began. This anticipative diction highlights the apprehension the narrator feels, reinforcing how uncomfortable and afraid he feels of the events to follow. The tension in the scene builds through the use of alliteration. The movement of the drill is described as a relentless rhythm, emphasizing the narrator s lack of control during his assignment. Week 1: By the second week, there wasn t much preparation left, simply added 2 more worms, and added a bit more water. Week 2: This was the last time more worms were added to the experiment, totaling a good 6 worms, 3 of each red worm, and 3 earthworms. Added H2O. Week 3: No new forms of life were added, but the abiotic factors did end up changing, which would result in the microcosm changes being a bit different. The temperature was now changed to about 69 ° F, and the humidity went from 53% to 54.5%. The other factors such as light, remained constant. Added a bit of H2O in order to keep the microcosm moist for the worms to thrive and plants to grow. RESULTS: Week 1: After simply one week, there was tremendous amount of growth in the microcosm. It was already full of small plant life. There were plenty of small sprouts from all the big seeds and small seedlings. For the garden bean, it grew to become approximately 150mm tall. • 29. Review Of Genome-Wide Analysis Of Trx Family In Cotton... Discussion This work provides the first report on genome wide analysis and characterization of TRX family in cotton genomes. We found that there are 150 genes in Gossypium hirsutum, 92 genes in Gossypium arboreum and 81 genes in Gossypium Ramondii. According to domain number, GhTRX genes divided into five subfamilies (TRX A, TRX B, TRX O, TRX ERp29 and TRX TPR_1_2).This result is in agreement with previous study in other species such as rice, Arabidopsis and sorghum(Choi, Jeong, Kende, 2004). In addition, the majority of TRX genes in upland cotton belonging to subfamily TRX A and TRX B agreeing with previous studies in rice, maize, soybean and poplar (ref) this finding suggested that these two subfamilies may be involved in diverse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Depending on events, evolutionary origin of the GhTRX genes might undertake 2 evolutionary stages; last 0.31 and 1.08 mya. Evolutionary in G. hirsutum happened after rice and Arabidopsis. There were10 duplicated pairs in rice Thioredoxin gene family, its Evolutionary origin might undertake 3 evolutionary stages; events were ranged from 9 to 70 MYA (Ref) whereas the genome of the ancestor of Arabidopsis underwent a duplication event about 24 40 MYA, shortly after the divergence from the cotton ancestor. Approximately 14% of paralogous pairs remain up to date (Meyer et al., 2005). In general duplication of GhTRX happened after OsTRX and ATTRX and the number of genes duplicated was lower than in rice and Arabidopsis; this May be due to loss of most paralogues (Ref). GhTRX A subfamily was largest amongst GhTRXs subfamilies; agreeing with previous study in rice, Arabidopsis and sorghum (Chibani, Wingsle, Jacquot, Gelhaye, Rouhier, 2009). High number of TRX A members may be due to duplication (Nuruzzaman et al., 2012), this explains multiple members of TRX A family in G.hirsutum. GhTRX genes roles under different stresses Six GhTRX genes were selected randomly to analyze their function in specific tissue, leaf development stages, phytohormones and abiotic stress. In specific tissue, all genes were highly expressed in various tissues suggesting that these genes may have crucial functions in cotton growth and development. These results agree with previous study in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Effects Of Television On Children s Television In today s mass media world, television is one of the most pervasive and influential form of mass communication for children. Children are now born into homes in which for the first time in American history a centralized commercial institution, Television, rather than parents tells them about the way they need to act according to their gender roles (Signorelli, 2001). The more time viewers spend with television the more likely their conceptions about the world and its people will reflect what they see on television (Signorelli, 2001). Through pursuing an experiment and reading the findings of Signorelli (2001), we can conclude that children s television shows convey the traditional ideas of gender roles for women but these gender roles are ... From both studies, it can be seen that males are still portrayed as the main characters more frequently than females but the gender roles they are displaying is slowly shift for females from traditional to more non traditional. In my cartoon category, the number of male characters severely outnumbers the number of female characters by about two to one, by about a 55% difference. However, in my PBS and Sit com shows there was an even divide with the casts being 50% male and 50% female. Although, women are still underrepresented in Television shows this data an improvement compared to 1990s primetime programs, which had three males for every female character (Signorelli, 2001). Also, it can be seen that the age gap between female and male characters has decreased dramatically from four years to an average of 2 years since the 1990s. Based on my observations, Cartoon and PBS shows seem to have removed the age gap between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Conviction-Trusted Advisors In the modern age of financial practice, securities salespeople no longer call themselves brokers or registered representatives. They now go by names like financial consultant or investment specialist. Many advisors continue to charge commissions and work in a mainly transaction based model, but many have also converted to a fee based practice, charging management fees to oversee client assets. Most financial advisors work for one of the major brokerage firms, banks, or insurance companies. There is also a relatively small but growing contingent of independent advisors who are not affiliated with any outside financial entity. Most of these advisors are either solo practitioners or small partnerships of advisors working together. There are, of course, many medium to large sized independent money ... This is especially true with money and markets, where emotions can run high, often causing poor decisions to be made. It is important to take the time to explain the pros and cons of various strategies, and help a client understand which approach would be best for them. In contrast, a facilitator may allow or even encourage a client to make decisions that might feel good in the short run but are counterproductive long term. They might do this out of fear of losing business or a preference for expediency. Facilitators generally do not bring discipline and rationality to the investment process, which is a big part of the value of having an advisor. • 34. My Family And The Family Families have played a crucial role in the formation of civilization since the beginning of time. Although the definition of what a family consists of has constantly changed and evolved, the main idea behind the raising and continuation of the human race has always been the primary goal. As different individuals and groups have risen to power and fallen from it there have been different political and economic shifts that have impacted the ideals behind family. Oftentimes, people would be highly impacted by such worldly changes and it would create personal problems leading to emigration as well as other hardships. Mills discusses the way that personal troubles are often contrasted with public issues even though they typically intertwine or relate in one way or another. In my family, heritage is something that is extremely important. On my mom s side, one of my great aunts started a Facebook page dedicated just to posting old pictures with historical context of some of my late family members. Although they have been deceased for most of, or my entire lifetime, it is really eye opening to get a brief glimpse into the lives they lead and why they lived that way. Most of my family is from Indiana currently, but we have ties leading back to the early 1900s in France. There is no certain date as to when my great great great grandfather moved, but we know it was before 1920 so it can be inferred that perhaps the emigration had to do with political hardship created when France ... In the past the study of religion was used both to criticize and to defend a particular religion (usually Christianity). I do not however aim at providing arguments that a certain religion (e.g. Christianity) or religion in general is true. I hope, however, that my analysis will contribute to the solution of the problem of truth of religion in general and of religions other than Christianity and will do this from a neutral point of view, not from that of the Christian religion. At the very beginning we face the problem of the multitude of expressions: truth question in religion, truth of religion, truth about religion, religious truth, truth in religion. Which of them should then be used in discussing our issue? Treating language as an active instrument of cognition and notions as useful tools I claim that each of them, even if it has a slightly different meaning, can be employed. However, one needs carefully to determine the following issues: (1) what is meant by religion; (2) how the notions of truth and truth of religion are to be understood; (3) what can be competently said with regard to the question of the truth of religion by each particular kind of studies of religion. Regardless of most statistics indicating that alcohol advertising relates to the higher consumption of alcohol, early commencement of drinking and the positive eagerness among adolescents, advertisements with youth friendly attributes as well as new alcohol products are remitting by alcohol companies. This paper analyses the research methodologies used in selected previous literatures to conduct their research regarding the effect of alcohol advertising on adolescents.
