The Pros And Cons Of Fingerprinting And Blood Testing
Fingerprinting and blood testing are two types of assessments to make a positive identification of a criminal. Since everybody s fingerprints
are diverse, it is easy to compare them through a computerized program that forensic scientists use. In order to prove if the DNA of a victim
and a criminal match, there are steps that must be followed carefully and correctly.
There are many reasons why fingerprinting is used as an important methods for identification (Hall, 2015). As stated by Hall (2015), A
fingerprint consists of several identifiable characteristic, such as loops, arches, whorls, islands, and bifurcations. The arrangement, frequency,
and design of these features are among the many characteristics used to distinguish prints from one another (p. 510). Everybody s fingerprints
are the same. Fingerprints are kept in Federal and state agencies of the within the law. When someone commits a crime, a forensic scientist
takes fingerprints and match them through the database in computers. Since fingerprinting does not go against the Fifth Amendment, a search
warrant is not required. Fingerprints can be matched with someone s hair down the color of their eyes. Another type of type of recognition to
identify someone is through blood tests, and it is used in the U.S. Benches. The individuals who has this procedure done may feel pain and get
sick from the procedure.
Since this procedure constitutes a search as outlined in the Fourth Amendment, authorization from a judge is

Technology And Its Impact On Technology
Once the firms gets patency for their technology they can precede with their next step that is to manufacture the product, market the product
and launch the product. Once the product is out in the market, the firm needs to monitor its product. This is a process in which the firm need
to look out for the life of the product as to if the technology is being out of date then they need to make changes accordingly in order to cope
with the market needs. But another thing which the firm should always keep in mind is to protect their technology.
Protecting the technology mean that the firm should always be vigilant as to other firms doesn t use their technology in their products or
develop which is related to their product. Many a times small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a firm develops a technology then they invest a lot of time and money for that and if it is being used by other companies they should give
royalty to the developer company and if they don t then this is one of the major losses for the company.
Asset Devalued: If the firm s innovation has been hacked or is being used by others then the value of that asset is decreased. This is because of
the a lot of fakes or thefts will be going on for that product so if a firm wants the sell that innovation to someone then the value of it will be
degraded because of that.
Case Study
Apple and Samsung are the leading giants when it comes to telecommunication industry. They both have created a mark in the market for its
performance and durability. However there was a major clash between the two companies which was related to patency. On January 5th 2007
which was 4 days before the IPhone was launching its phone, they filed a case against their competitor (Samsung) that they are using the 4
design patents which were developed by Apple and these 4 design patents were related to the basic design of the phone. There was a major
clash between these two companies as it became the news all over the world. This created a lot of issues as it affected the reputation of the
company (CNET, 2014). Apple filed a law suit in United States District Court for the Northern District of California and with evidence they
submitted to the court side by side

Indirect Murder Cases
While many thousands of murder cases go unsolved every year, it is a probable assumption that the general public would most likely only be
able to name all they knew on one hand. In no particular order, the top three reoccurring would most likely be: the 1994 murder of Nicole
Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman (estranged ex husband Orenthal James Simpson), the 2008 murder of Caylee Anthony (mother Casey
Anthony), and the 1996 murder of JonBenet Ramsey (Patsy, John, and Burke Ramsey). As all of these are high profile cold cases, all of them
have thoroughly investigated not only by local investigators but also through the public eye, yet no charges have been filed against any party.
Two of the three cases show blatant similarities one is that two of the three happened within the first six years of life (Caylee Anthony and
JonBenet Ramsey), and in these cases the mothers were investigated more than any other possible suspect. One man has reviewed these
previous cases in addition to multiple others, Stephen Diamond, who is a clinical and forensic psychologist in Los Angeles is further
reviewing the JonBenet murder from the stance of a psychologist, just after the case has been cold for twenty years. Diamond is not writing

Investigatively there is not much that can be done to solve this crime twenty years later, but what can be done is the analyzation of the family

things that occurred. Like a true professional, Diamond does not show any evidence of bias, and only is basing his analysis on the facts of the

The Mistreatment Of Animals In Tolkien s Middle Earth
Just like Yavanna s words of defending nature and punishing wrongs, the Ents are roused by the mistreatment of the trees and march upon
Isengard to take on Saruman. They destroy Saruman s dam in the River Isen, subsequently putting out his forging fires. I find it imperative to
take note that characters who love and respect trees and nature are on the side of good; those who cause harm to the trees of Middle Earth are
on the side of evil and typically do so for the sake of industry. Typically peaceful and wise, not very drawn to adventures or wars, if they are
roused they can be terrible and they will fight fearlessly to protect the trees and forests. So it was in the War of the Ring, where the least
expected stroke that fell on Saruman was given by the Ents who flooded Isengard and revenged their dead kin, trees that Saruman had fallen
and thrown into the fires of Isengard. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They endeavor to nurture nature and focus on sustainability. Beings such as the elves draw out the beauty in their surroundings and enhance it.
There is also a focus on sharing the benefits of nature among everyone and there is cooperation among them. The same cannot be said of the
evil beings of Middle Earth. For characters such as Saruman, nature is a tool to further his needs; this is the only value that nature possesses.
Feanor and Melkor in their pursuit of the Silmarils demonstrate a lack of desire to share the treasures of nature. Obviously, Sauron is not one

Analysis Of The Essential Metamorphoses And Goose Food
Ovid s epic The Essential Metamorphoses and Ghandl s poem Goose food present similar visions of women, and the writers show that men
might not actually be superior, compared to women as they are often portrayed in myth. Moreover, in Ovid, there are numerous myths told,
but in most of them, there is a recurrent theme of misogyny, and in the first myth of the epic called Origin of the World , on top of just
describing the creation of the world, it is mentioned that man was first to be created and woman was made second. This could be because of
numerous reasons; for example, Ovid could have been jealous that it was actually woman that was created first or maybe Ovid wanted to
follow what the rest of society believed in order to be able to gain the trust of the readers so that he could then be able to put unrealistic views
and that when reading the epic, the reader becomes skeptical of what seems so true to him at first and that maybe the whole principal of man
being at the center of attention is not a true fact. Similarly, in Ghandl s Goose Food , this story is told in a single way and man again is at the
center of the attention, but this could be to give...(not good ). These stories portray women in a negative way in order to make readers realize
that they are actually equal to men in real life and that they might even be superior to men. This statement can be viewed through the way
women look physically, the actions they perform, how men interact in proximity to them

The Food Waste And Recycling
Food Waste Recycling
There are billions of people struggling every day to have enough to eat, and billions of tons of food being tossed in the garbage, food waste is
gaining increasing awareness as a serious environmental and economic issue. Research shows that about 60 million metric tons of food is
wasted a year in the United States, with an estimated value of $162 billion. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills, at a cost of about
$1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the
world is never consumed, and the total cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and
consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s hungry people, but it is not just those
countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse
as the world s population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost, but it contributes to
growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer
and land. The fuel that is burned to process, refrigerate and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown away in
landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent

The problem is under researched because studying children requires parental consent, a troubling conflict of interest for those who may be
involved. There aren t many people who can leave college with no student loans. Debt causes people to lose money. There are many people in
the middle class losing money through debt because they spent more money than they have. Rich people have money and they seem to keep
getting more so they don t have to get loans they can just pay cash. Robert B. Reich states, Thus the decline in union membership has been
most striking among young men entering the work forcce without a college education. In the early, 1950 s more than 40 percent of this group
joined unions; by the late 1980 s. less than 20 percent (if public employees are excluded, less than 10 percent). (Page 257). College may leave
the biggest debt if you don t do it right, but with a college degree a person will earn more money so that they can pay off the loans, but most
of the paycheck goes to the loan a month. There is also interest on top of the loan payments.

shrinking because there are not jobs that can sustain the middle class, so eight out of ten American Citizens are moving to the lower class and

Hinder Social Development
Through the use of social media, we can connect with friends and family and be informed of what is currently happening in the world. Social

The use of social media can hinder social development because it causes health issues. In the article, Social Networking: Failure to Connect it

Heroism In The Twisted Hero
The term twisted hero does not exist. At first glance, to most people, a twisted hero is believed to be a conservator, a simulacrum of a deity, to
its dependents and followers, but nevertheless at times has iniquitous actions or a disturbed mindset. However, the meat and potatoes is that
all heroes have effectuated immoral acts numerous times in their lives in some form, so according to the denotation above all heros are
twisted. As a result of this, the concept of a twisted hero simply does not exist because people who are heroes are just heroes, not twisted
heros. They cannot be both; either they are heros, people who do good deeds but sometimes do bad things, or twisted, people who have
immoralistic mindsets and commit bad deeds. Heros are not as the media portrays them, glorifying their every action and then pointing fingers
at them like five year olds when they have committed misdeeds, they make mistakes and sometimes not so moral actions.Hero s actions of
good trump the bad ones.

How Is Piggy Mature In Lord Of The Flies
Piggy, from Lord of the Flies, displays a mature perspective in a childish, chaotic atmosphere. The author, William Golding, presents Piggy as
a plump, spectacle wearing schoolboy, diagnosed with asthma (7 9). The fragile appearance and lung disease of the stout student suggests his
physical vulnerability. The young boy speaks childlike since he talks in sentence fragments; however, this still steadies the fat boy s character
because he constructs most of the boys helpful ideas (10 15). When so called Fatty spots Ralph on the island, he frequently mentions his aunt
due to the fact he lives with her (9 16). The asthmatic instantly realizes the adults on the plane died, leaving them on a stranded island, while
the other boys immediately accept their fates by imprudently developing an anarchic state (14). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These indicate that he thinks more practically than the others. Although the chief s assistant holds intelligent ideas, the irrational boys rudely
interrupt before the rational boy speaks; therefore, leading to the sensitive child to rant on how abused he feels by crying, That s what I said! I

English pupil s face to the martyred expression of a parent who has to keep up with the senseless ebullience of the children (38). The quote
infers the outcast s frustration with having the parents job by watching the children run wildly. The caring juvenile also desires fairness, unlike
the rest. The cordial schoolboy reveals wanting nobody else to experience bullying when he supports a shy, embarrassed shrimp of a boy in
talking in front of the meeting (35). Golding writes, Let him have the

The Role of Intra-party Opposition in National Liberation...
The Role of Intra party Opposition in National Liberation Movements By and large, in the latter half of the twentieth century a regime change
has meant the victory of a leftist national liberation movement over an oppressive power; whether the new regime makes good on its stated
purpose of delivering justice to its people has not evidenced such a standard pattern, however. While liberation movements such as the African
National Congress (ANC) in South Africa were able successfully to convert their role as revolutionary freedom fighters into democratic
participation in the state (Connell, 9), movements such as Castro s Cuban Revolution, while accomplishing regime change, failed to deliver a
successful state. This paper suggests that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Radical Islamic Palestinian nationalist groups, the most prominent of which is Hamas, adamantly resist any concessions to the state of Israel
and maintain that the PA should not be negotiating with the Israeli government. While there is little question that Hamas and similar
organizations have had both the intent and the effect of erecting impediments on the road to a peace in the Middle East, this paper aims to
dispel the notion that Palestinian opposition groups have completely derailed the peace process. Instead, I will argue that the presence of such
vehement dissent is a necessary part to a lasting peace accord and to a stable two state solution, as this intra party opposition is often the most
difficult hurdle to surmount for a national liberation movement that is attempting to rise to state power. To be clear, I argue that a critical first
step to running a peaceful democratic state, before territory or infrastructure, is to pacify radical parties in a non dictatorial fashion; a process
by which a new political regime proves itself capable of state governance by tying together the moderate with the extreme.
I further assert that the notion is incorrect that because the PA is born out of the PLO, an organization that employed guerrilla tactics to spoil
peace efforts, the new Authority is necessarily an untrustworthy body. I will argue that in the majority of cases, as exemplified by South

Habituation of Exploratory Behavior in Rats
Abstract
This study investigated the effects of displaced objects and spatial reorganization on habituation of exploratory behavior. The subjects, rats,
each individually spent 5 minutes in an open field for 6 trials. Throughout the study, exploratory behavior was measured in the number of
contacts the subject made, the number of ambulations, and contact time (seconds). Trials 1 5 were mainly used to familiarize the subject with
its surroundings, naturally leading to decreasing amounts of exploratory behavior. Trial 6 involves the same routine, except displaced objects
are introduced in an attempt to renew exploratory behavior and promote the building up of environmental maps and representations.
Additionally, the measured behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this present study, behavior tests were used in order to determine the likelihood of renewed exploratory behavior in a familiar environment
after the introduction of displaced objects. Additionally, renewed exploratory behavior seems to play a critical role in building environmental
maps, leading to the integration of new spatial relationships Poucet et al. (1986).
The primary aim of this experiment was to determine if rats would gain a renewal of exploratory behavior due to displaced objects after
habituation had settled in. Based on results from these previously mentioned experiments, we hypothesized that subjects were capable of
renewing exploratory behavior in a spatially reorganized environment. However, this was under the assumption that complications such as age
and species type were inapplicable.
Method
Subjects
The subjects were Sprague Dawley male rats. Their age is 150 days. The supplier is Harlan Sprague Dawley. They are maintained on a 12:12

Common Myths About Swimming

Keywords: Omaha Swimming Lessons
Exposing the Common Myths about Swimming
Swimming involves numerous techniques, strategies and practices. Different individuals think and feel differently about swimming.
Consequently, the concepts, notions and ideas regarding swimming vary greatly. If you have been learning and practicing swimming for quite
some time now, you must have come across contradictory opinions and judgments about both swimming and swimmers. Now, while it is
perfectly OK to hold opinions, it is in no way, desirable for a swimmer to believe in any of the myths surrounding swimming. Since most
people commit the mistake of drawing conclusions depending on their personal experiences, the myths that make their rounds are in plenty.
As a swimmer, you should know only what is right and then decide, depending on suitability. So, here s busting some of the common myths
about swimming for you to have clear knowledge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swimmers using paddles end up exerting too much pressure on their rotator cuff muscles as well as the triceps. Another disadvantage of
practicing with the paddles is that when you stop using them, you are most likely to swing off right at the back of the set. So, the lesser you
use paddles, the better you are as a swimmer. Consult your expert and learn about alternative stroke styles and techniques in order to improve
your ability of pulling in the waters.
Kicking Does Not Help in Forward Propulsion
This is perhaps the greatest misconception about swimming techniques that have become popular. The importance of kicks often remains
unrecognized by the swimmers. The reality is just the opposite. Legs help in propelling ahead just as much as the arms do. In fact, swimming
experts with years of coaching are of the opinion that the faster you kick, the faster you are in the waters.

The Influence Of Henry V
Fifteenth century England was divided between the houses of Lancaster (Henry IV, Henry V and Henry VI) and
York (Edward IV, Edward V and Richard III) The wars of the Roses, 1455 1485, divided loyalties. Henry V reigned from 1413 1422 and had
many wars against
France, in particular the Battle
Of Agincourt in 1415. Henry was very religious as he says in his battle speech that god thinks it is the right thing to do and that god is using
Henry as a messenger. A quote from the chorus in Act 2 states that Henry is Following the mirror of all Christian kings. He is a Christian king
and believes that god controls chance. Therefore, everyone he rules has to be religious too.
Henry was confident that the economy would look after itself while he was away battling France. Between 1417 and 1422 almost all the
economic network of northern France was ruled by Lancastrians but Henry could not fully draw on the economic resources because of the
damage from the war. Henry encouraged merchants to go to France to sell food to the starving population. When the play was first performed

Pre-Disciplinary Communication Reflection
On August 31, 2017 I spoke with Officer Burns via telephone in regards to his pending discipline and some concerns that had been brought to
my attention by fellow officers and supervisors. The first portion of the conversation centered on his pending discipline and determining a
date that would be acceptable for him to attend a pre disciplinary hearing with Captain Berger to discuss the alleged violations. During this
conversation I explained the severity of the violations and that based upon the number of violations within the past twelve months he will
subject to the progressive discipline policy.
It was stressed to Officer Burns that he could also be subject to termination in the future if his performance did not improve and he committed
another violation. Officer Burns acknowledged that he understood the severity of the violations and acknowledged that he was aware of the
progressive discipline policy of the city. After discussing the policy violations and determining an acceptable date for the pre disciplinary
hearing, I segued to the topic of the performance concerns that were brought to my attention.
The first instance I spoke with Officer Burns about was the concerns that were brought up by Sgt. Adam Smotrich. Sgt. Smotrich detailed in a
message to me that while on a call with Officer Burns involving an individual experiencing an emotional crisis and wielding a metal pipe, he
became increasingly concerned that Officer Burns would be unable to defend himself. The reason for this concern was based upon the

This caused Sgt. Smotrich concern because he did not want Officer Burns to fall and be unable to defend himself if the subject advanced

Negative Effects Of Imperialism
Imperialism was an extremely big deal throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. There were many occurrences where people who
were involved in imperialism would succeed, but there were also failures. Throughout this time period, powers from Europe, the United States
and Japan all contributed to both the positive and negative impacts of imperialism. These impacts affected parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin
America. Some of the few people that made huge changes during the Age of Imperialism are Dadabha Naoroji, J.A. Hobson, Mary Kingsley,
Edgar Canisius, Albert Beveridge, and Rudyard Kipling.
Dadabha Naoroji was involved in many things but one of the most important was that he was a founder of the Indian National Congress. The
Indian National Congress was a political organization that led efforts for independence and is a major political platform in India. During
Naoroji s involvement in politics, he became the first Indian member of the House of Commons. While in office, Naoroji attempted to
improve Britain s policies toward India and eventually succeeded. He wanted many things for the British rule such as the abolition of
practicing widow burning, to emphasize the importance of education, and he also wanted the development of railways and irrigation. Naoroji
goes on to say that he succeeded in almost all of these things and that the British accepted them, making the impact of imperialism positive. In
this situation, the colonizer and the colonized both

Enron’s Stakeholder Impact Case Analysis Essay
Introduction:
Widely known as the champion of the energy industry, Enron is suddenly faced with a corporate crisis in the form of a scandal. This scandal
involves not only Enron s accounting practices but also its corporate governance and culture (Lawrence Weber, 2008). This report will
recommend some potential strategies for Enron to move forward from the scandal. To do this, we must incorporate stakeholder theory, which
argues that corporations serve a broad public purpose; to create value for society (Lawrence Weber, 2014, p 6.). This means that Enron must
take responsibility for the scandal it created and take actions to regain its stakeholders confidence. To accomplish this, we will first identify
and analyze Enron s primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They could decide not to file lawsuits and continue to support and help rebuild the company. This is not an easy task considering that the
company broke their trust.
Other significant stakeholders that deserve priority are Enron s employees. The employees present threats to Enron in two ways: they can
form coalitions to exercise their legal rights, and they can also leave the company. They will most likely sue the company as they have lost
vast amounts of their retirement savings (Moscoco and Deans, 2002). The urgency in this situation matters a lot as some employees are
reaching their retirement age. When it comes to employees leaving the company, it is important to note that these employees have the
necessary skills and are essential for the business to succeed. Here is where we see the opportunity. How is Enron going to recover without
them? That being said, Enron has to do something to retain its employees.
Lastly, the third stakeholder is the U.S. government, especially the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The U.S. government has
tremendous legal and political power. They have the ability to sue, penalize, and create special regulations against Enron. Because the
government s interest is to protect the public s interests, it is likely that the government will sanction Enron for its scandal (Lawrence Weber,
2014). Nevertheless, we still see a possibility for Enron to pull the

Roman Myths
Intro In 1955 poet and scholar Robert Graves wrote: Myth has two main functions, the first is to answer the sort of awkward questions that
children ask ...The second function of myth is to justify an existing social system and account for traditional rites and customs . Myths have
played a large role in many societies over time. Two societies that are known for their mythology are the Ancient Greeks and the Romans.
There are many similarities between the myths of these two societies because the Romans enveloped much of the Greek mythology to use as
their own. Because of this, it is interesting to take a look at how Greek and Roman mythologies compare. In addition to this, it is important to
explore how these myths influenced their respective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roman mythology has a lot in common with Greek mythology. Sometimes it is directly plagiarized, sometimes merely combined with an
original Roman myth. The two most influential Roman writers in terms of Roman religious beliefs were Ovid whose Magnum Opus
Metamorphoses created the canon of the history of the world for the ancient Romans and Virgil whose epic The Aeneid tells the story of the
most famous Roman hero, the trojan warrior Aeneas.
The common theme of intervening gods can be found in nearly all religions but Greek and Roman mythology are perhaps the most famous for
gods who actively meddle in the plans and goals of other deities. Rome as known today was founded a good bit after many Greek city states
had become established. The values of Greek society were then transposed onto Roman society, values such as art, philosophy, literature and
drama. Greek mythology was well known but it was warped to fit a Roman

Regulation and Functions of the p53 Protein
p53 gene, also known as tumor protein 53 (TP53), encodes for a tumor suppressor protein which regulates the cell cycle and apoptosis. The
p53 protein has been described as the guardian of the genome (1) because of its role in preventing genetic mutation. It belongs to a protein
family which includes p53, p63 and p73 and these are structurally and functionally related to each other. However, p53 seems to have evolved
as a tumor suppressor in higher organisms, while p63 and p73 play a role in normal developmental biology (2).
Structure of p53
P53 functions primarily as a transcription factor, and is biologically active as a homo tetramer comprising of 4 X 393 amino acid residues.
Each monomer comprises of several functional domains:
1. An acidic N terminus transcription activating domain 1 and 2 (TAD1/2) This region interacts with various transcription factors
2. Proline rich region (PRR) This plays a role in p53 stability
3. Central DNA binding domain (DBD) required for binding to specific sites on the DNA.
4. Tetramerization domain (OD) required for the assembly of the functional tetramer.
5. Carboxyl terminus domain (CTD) which is bound to DNA binding domain and is involved in negative modulation of DNA binding domain.
The central DNA binding domain is the most highly conserved region of p53, when compared to its other family members, p63 and p73. Loss
of tumor suppressor function of p53, as seen in most cancers, results from missense mutations in the DNA

Fire Ground Exercises At The Fire Service Area
I contemplate one of the most important training items in the fire service area that we need to focus on is authentic fire ground exercises. Fire
ground training are drills that reflect real time circumstances on the emergency scene. Our training needs to focus towards our daily tasks,
teamwork and most of all teamwork on the emergency scene. Furthermore, in the past quite a few of my training drills came from the
International Fire Service Training Association manual or similar resources. While I do believe these sequenced, systematic drills remain,
tremendously valuable in foundation training to establish baseline competency. Likewise, consider that real life situations do not always
follow training manuals. The purpose of the drills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Fire service, we have available plenty of basic drills we can train on daily to better ourselves. It seems everyone is trying specialized
training, which needed, and forgets to master few of our more tedious items and commonplace Page 8b functions. A number of of these would
incorporate pump operations, hose line advancement, fire ground operations. Consequently, the drills we do should be more than by the
numbers drills, they should be operations that imitate what we will do at the emergency scene. They should be our bread and butter drills that
we must get correct, every time. These drills must emulate what we do on the fire ground as a department. The goal should be training that
becomes a common reaction and not a focus on what we remember as a one, two, three process. Therefore, an example of a drill that I have
used at my department for training is a firefighter calling a Mayday. This is a very commanding evolution in the fire service today, from the
low occurrences and the extremely high risk associated with a mayday. The first part of the drill was a review of our mayday policy and the
classroom simulation of practicing the mayday. The review would contain recognizing your need of calling a mayday, and then actually
calling the mayday. I had fourteen of our personnel call a mayday while in a controlled

Ordovician Period The Ordovician Period lasted almost 45 million years. During this period, most of the area was almost entirely ocean, and
most of the world s land was collected into the southern supercontinent Gondwana. Throughout the Ordovician, Gondwana was submerged

atmosphere contained a lot of moisture. Although, when Gondwana finally settled on the South Pole, massive glaciers formed, and caused
shallow seas, and sea levels to drop. This most likely caused extinctions at the end of the Ordovician in which 60% of all marine invertebrate
genera and 25% of all families went extinct. The ecosystems was still dominized by algae and sponges, and in some cases by bryozoans.
However, there apparently were also periods of complete reef collapse because to global disturbances. The major global patterns of life went

Jerry Goldsmith Accomplishments
Jerry Goldsmith is a well known name when it comes to the musical world. As an American composer and conductor he has composed many
pieces of music and films. His music is one of a kind it always gets your attention. I chose Jerry Goldsmith because I enjoyed some of the
films he created music for. He was one of the best in his time. Jerry was born on February 10th 1929 in Pasadena California. His original
name was Jerrald King Goldsmith and was the son of Tessa Rappaport and Morris Goldsmith. By the age of six his parents had him studying

Throughout his entire career he was nominated for the Academy Award eighteen times, the Grammy Award six times, and the Golden Globe
Award four times. Goldsmith also won an Oscar for his revolutionary score for The Omen and he received five Emmy Awards. The few music
films I enjoy by Goldsmith is Planet of the Apes, the Star Trek series and Looney Tunes: Back in Action. In Planet of the Apes he did an
amazing job with the piano giving it much sound effects. This movie is one of the most memorable movie moments in the history of cinema
because of Jerry Goldsmith s ground breaking musical contribution. Goldsmith s musical piece focuses on the drama that the apes experienced
in modern day America, with both Zia and Cornelius getting a delicate melody all to themselves. Planet of the Apes later became a sequel.
Jerry Goldsmith made many pieces of music for the Star Trek series. He composed Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek V: The Final
Frontier, Star Trek: First Contact with his son Joel Goldsmith, Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek: Nemesis. I thought it was great that him

Tone in Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus Essay
Tone in Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus
In Lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath, the speaker s tone is revealed through many different poetic aspects. Throughout her writing, the speaker s
attitude towards death appears to be happy but, when looking more closely at Plath s use of poetic devices her attitude is bitter. Shown mainly
through the diction, images, sounds and repetition, this depressing tone emphasizes the speaker s feelings about death. First, diction or word
choice used throughout this poem depicts apart the meaning and stresses the tone. Next, the images used to describe the speaker s experiences
with death shows the emotions and thoughts that go through the speaker s mind concerning death. These events the speaker ... Show more

I manage it (3), sort of (4), Do I terrify? (12), underestimate (72) and Beware (80) explain the choice of words by Plath that explains the
doubtful tone of the poem and helps to create the image of death through the shallow voice of this helpless woman.
Also, there are words that describe actions taking place when death attempts occur. For example, annihilate (24), The peanut crunching crowd
/ Shoves in to see (26 27), I rocked shut (39) and That knocks me out (56) shows negative action towards death. First of all, annihilate means
to destroy, which gives a downbeat connotation towards the tone of the poem. Then, the crowd refers to the others and their discouragement in
this woman s life, which leads to disappointment and an unconstructive tone towards death in the poem. Then the last two examples describe
the speaker s feelings towards a hopeless end to life. This type of diction used to accentuate the tone of the poem further supports the
pessimistic nature.
Lastly, another use of diction in Plath s poem is words associated with death and therefore, internally affect the tone of the poem. First, in line
fourteen they use the word vanish which means to go away and never come back. This word is directly related to what death means and in
using this word suggests that there is death involved in this particular poem, and the attitude towards it is not positive.

Robber Barons versus Captains of Industry
Robber Barons vs. Captains of Industry
During the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century, both robber barons and captains of industry were terms used to place businessmen into a
good or bad category. The term robber baron is a representation of industrialist who used manipulative methods in order to reach enormous
quantities of wealth. Some characteristics of robber barons were: they depleted America of its valuable resources, forced authority to pass
laws that would work in there favor, make opponents in the industry go out of business, and force laborers to work in hazardous
circumstances with little pay. The term captains of industry meant the exact opposite, these businessmen did positive things in order to reach
enormous quantities of wealth. Some characteristics of captains of industry were: they constructed factories to make the accessibility of goods
rise, increased production, developed markets, gave to charity, and created more jobs with generous pay. While many historians believe that
the industrialist of the 19th century were captains of industry there are others that would object and say that they were indeed robber barons.
Would you consider the great industrialist of the 19th century to be robber barons or would you consider them as captains of the industry?

Transnational Corporations And Human Rights Violations Essay
Introduction
This essay s thesis is that there is currently a lack legal apparatuses that can be used to hold transnational corporations liable for human rights
violations; specifically violation of labour rights. This paper seeks to discuss various legal instruments that are applicable to transnational
corporations and human rights violations. It will also provide theoretical framework for understanding the nature of human rights and legal
framework of labour laws. This essay will address the following questions: What is the legal status of transnational corporations? How can
current legal apparatuses be used to hold transnational corporations accountable for human rights violations? This essay will also consider the
case of human right violations by Nike Corporation in order to show that external pressures can produce development and accountability.
2. Transnational Corporations
Current legal mechanisms of accountability fail to account for the fluid nature and power of influence that transnational corporations possess.
Transnational Corporations are not static in nature and have tremendous economic and political influence over government policies. These
factors result in a lack of due diligence for transnational corporations to uphold human rights. TNCs are economic and legal entities. In theory,
TNCs are subject to the law of a country, to the jurisdiction of its courts, but often this is abandoned by the government of countries. TNCs

Themes Of Longing, Selections From The Ink Dark Moon Sting...
Interwoven with themes of longing, impermanence and loneliness, selections from The Ink Dark Moon sting with forbidden love and savor of
bitterness, while exploring the intricately beautiful characteristics of human emotion. Although the selected poems are brief and concise
conforming to the characteristics of brevity and succinct language in traditional ancient Japanese poetry the carefully selected words and
painstakingly constructed phrases elicit a marked emotional response in the reader. Utilizing literary devices such as vivid descriptive
imagery, metaphor and symbolism, the authors explore piercingly poignant emotional experiences through the lens of nature and the
exploration of Buddhist ideologies.
Beginning with a stark comparison of mankind and nature, the first selection by Ono No Komachi exemplifies the use of naturalistic themes
and impermanence in ancient Japanese poetry. Komachi contrasts hunting lanterns, (p. 41, line 1) with the mountain on which the hunting has
taken place, bringing to mind imagery of an abandoned mountain once brimming with hunters. The author utilizes this imagery as a means
through which to demonstrate the speaker s own loneliness and feelings of abandonment after the initial excitement laden stages of love have
subsided. Additionally, Komachi s utilization of nature as a recurring motif throughout the poem exemplifies the Buddhist idea of object
impermanence. However, although impermanence related to the idea of transience and

Qantas External Forces
2.0 External Analysis
Meanwhile the external analysis refers to the people and the process that are outside the organisation and it most unlikely that this factor can
be controlled by the organisation. External Analysis can be assessed by using PESTEL.
Political Force:
Political force describes the impact of politics in marketing decisions. It takes into consideration the influence of a government that may affect
the business environment. This includes the business cycle of a nation, monetary policy, fiscal policies, and trade policies. For instance in
2013 the Qantas Airlines was severely affected by the political unrest in Thailand which in result, caused a major concern for the organisations
to generate adequate revenue in that particular region. In relation to that situation, Qantas also didn t manage to obtain their desired target of
revenue in the Middle East region due to the political instability that most Middle East country was facing from 2003 to 2010. In nut shell, the
political factor can relentlessly affect the airline industry at a particular region because people will normally think twice before deciding on
their holiday location.
Economical Force:
Economic force refers to those forces that affect how much money people and organisation can spend and how they choose to spend it. This
force examines the economy as a broad picture and its performance owing to the global trends. This consists of the deflation rate, and inflation
rate. For example, in 2008,

own research regarding very important issues such as Global Warming and Climate Change. Crichton speaks about how these topics impact
the world and the people living in it. The novel takes the readers on a thrilling rollercoaster ride that is filled with suspense, innovative
technology, and outstanding research. State of Fear takes its readers from the streets of Paris to the beaches of Los Angeles, from the glaciers
of Iceland to the volcanoes of Antarctica, and from the Arizona desert to the deadly jungles of the Solomon Islands. Michael Crichton presents
a thought provoking novel that makes the readers think outside of their comfort zone. In the novel, Crichton displays how information can be
manipulated to people s wishes in the modern world.
State of Fear has eight main characters who are Peter Evans, Nick Drake, George Morton, Sarah Jones, John Kenner, Sanjong Thapa, Jimmy
Bolden, and Jennifer Haines. Peter Evans is a young lawyer of George Morton who is a very wealthy philanthropist donating most of his
money to the National Environmental Resource Fund

Comparing The Loss Of Innocence In Wild Swans By Alice...
Both Wild Swans by Alice Munro and Flowers by Alice Walker explore the loss of innocence in young women. Women have historically been
seen as delicate and in need of protection. It is no wonder that the loss of a woman s virginity is referred to as deflowering, comparing a
woman s sexual release to the death of beautiful, fragile nature. A woman s innocence is coveted, as people go to great lengths to shield them
from both the reality of death and the pleasures of sex. The loss of certain kinds of innocence, specifically sexual, can be seen as shameful for
a woman, as opposed to the masculine pride a man may feel from the same events. Through the choice of point of view, plot, and tone, Walker
depicts Myop in Flowers as finding more peace in her loss of innocence than Rose does in Wild Swans. Walker tells Myop s story in a third
person omniscient point of view, but limits greatly the extent to which she discloses Myop s inner feelings. Only once does Walker refer to
Myop as unafraid (Walker 76), giving us some insight into her thoughts. However, most of the story is told from a rather detached point of
view, mostly noting Myop s actions and the setting around her. Myop s thoughts, then, must be gleaned from the events of the story. One sees
in how Myop responds to the corpse casually plucking a flower from beside his head that while the corpse has stripped her of her innocence,
she has become more mature through her experience. Myop understands and accepts

The Psychedelic Sixties Essay
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; quot;Look what s happening out in the streets! quot; What better line to epitomize the feeling of the Americans
throughout the chaos and turmoil of one of the most memorable decades in United States history, than this quote in the Jefferson Airplane
song quot;Volunteers? quot; The people of the time were utterly awestricken by the horrors they were being forced to endure, and they
decided they would do the best they could to publicize their total disgust for the United States approach to its people. The 1960 s was a decade
to remember, a decade that drastically changed the lifestyles of so many people in the Western World. Not only were the people s lifestyles
changing, but their country and government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This group of youths referred to as hippies developed a whole new quot;counter culture, quot; which included a minority of the quot;fake
quot; hippies who merely saw the quot;counter culture quot; as a fashion rather than something they believed in deeply. The group of hippies
proclaimed itself an quot;alternative society, quot; and favored very simple and communal living which included free experimentation with
drugs, free experimentation of sex, and a strong commitment to quot;peace and love. quot; These political and social changes such as the civil
rights movements and the new quot;counter culture quot; had lasting effects on one specific element of the decade: rock and roll music. Rock
and roll musicians were not much different from any other Americans in that they were forced to go through the same hardships as the rest of
the people, such as racial discrimination and unjust government, or Establishment. The main difference is that many of the quot;other people
quot; (the people of everyday society) did not have the same opportunity to express their feelings with the world. The frustration with racism
and prejudice was blatantly obvious in many acts due to the genre s increasing aggression and hostility. Also, the country s cry for peace and
love was exemplified no better than by rock musicians on stage. In their search for something different, the youth and rock musicians
attempted to find a path leading them

Somaliland
1. Introduction Somaliland is the previous British protectorate, and was the typical fragile state situated in the northwest of Somalia.
Somaliland was ignored by the Mogadishu based government since the 1980s. There are historical records that affirms how the wars with
Barre s army was devastating, and in several accounts it was documented that during the war period its urban communities were besieged, its
farmland mined, and a huge number of its inhabitants fled to neighbouring nations. Public administration institutions and business
organizations vanished. Countless individuals had been executed and many thousands disrupted, their property and homes ruined and or
plundered (xx, xxx). The economy in effect came to a standstill, and the armed force, police and public administration had broken down and
their substance stripped. In those days, whatever efforts for reconstruction was enormously impossible. Today it is possible but difficult to
overlook how far the state has come, and what amount has as of now been accomplished (Bulhan 1999:7). Given the level of demolition,
people see the current physical reconstruction efforts as a remarkable accomplishment (Souverijn 2001:82). Somaliland has rebuilt mainly
through their own endeavours and resources with broad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Effects Of The Truman Doctrine
President Truman Doctrine 1945 1953 Contain the expansion of communism, presumably everywhere. Truman Doctrine 1947 announced on
the 12th of March 1947 in response to Greek civil war and communist threat in Turkey, Truman asks Congress to approve $400 million in aid
to both countries, and they accept, sets a precedent of US help to threaten states through economic means (Woolsey, G. C.2008). The Truman
Doctrine, effectively change U.S. foreign policy (Woolsey, G. C. 2008). U.S initially adopted the policy to remove themselves from regional
conflicts not involving the United States directly, or from possible intervening in distant conflicts. On March 31 the British Government
announces military and economic would no longer provide the Greek Government with assistance in its civil war against the Greek
Communist Party (Kayaoğlu, B.2009). The U.S. Government was under the impression the Soviet Union was supporting the Greek
Communist war, but In fact, Joseph Stalin the Soviet leader had deliberately stopped providing assistance to the Greek Communists. The U.S
did have concern that if the Communists would prevail in the Greek civil war, then the Soviets would try to influence Greek policy. It also
looked like the Soviet was meddling in the affairs of the Turkish and the Greek, and with the British withdrawing from assisting both
countries, Truman decided to request that Congress give support for the Greek and Turkish Government against the Communists. Truman then
requested $400

Steam Engines in the Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution took place in the late 1700s and early 1800s. This event caused a plethora of new inventions and a chain of events
that led to betterment of the lives of people in this time. The invention of the steam engine made the connection of areas easier, leading to a
transportation revolution, increased accessibility, cultural blending, and the spread of disease. began to use the steam engine for power.
Although no official accounts of the harnessing the power of steam existed until the 1600s, a man named Hero living in Alexandria, Egypt
attempted to create a steam powered engine in 60 A.D (Hartman). Much later, Thomas Savery, in 1698, invented a hand powered pump
utilizing the vacuum created by condensing steam. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since more people were traveling, and more things were traveling, people wanted to be where the goods went. People would start living along
the railroads, the crossroads of railroads, and living near the sea to buy and sell the newly transported goods, creating port cities in places of
trade such as Boston or New York. This led to the urbanization of England and Germany (Curth). A revolution is defined as a dramatic change
in how something is done or a change in people s ideas ( Revolution ). These advances can be considered a revolution because so much
change is happening, and the lives of the people are improving. Revolutions are event in history for a positive cause, as the revolution in
transportation was for a positive cause. So many people were now realizing that transportation was important and can be improved upon ad
infinitum. Since the steam engine made travel easier, goods and foods were able to be transported faster, causing an increased accessibility. A
small problem in the international use of steam engines was the dissimilarity in parts used. Certain parts of the engines varied between
companies, so only some trains could use the tracks (Ross). With all of the hype over transportation, roads were starting to be built, making
the accessibility of goods even easier. Raw materials as well as manufactured goods were able to be traded at a faster rate, and making easier
to distribute these goods to the people easier.

The article gives the examples of Jack Welch CEO of General Electric who was the first to coin the term boundary less organisation as a result
of frustrations that knowledge that was not shared between the myriads of divisions at GE. According to this line of thinking it is clear that
work motivation theory needs to be extended and further developed within areas other than isolated task performance settings. Motivation
theory should be applied in a Individual employee point of view as well as a team point of view. This is due to the fact that some issues might
occur in a group setting but not be a issue when it s dealing with a single employee. For example the article refers to Social Loafing that is a
occurrence that is sometimes seen in a group situation. As managers or leaders its important to gather knowledge from these different settings
and the challenges, but be mindful not to generalise these experiences. They can be situation specific.
In my own personal work experiences I find the lack of knowledge and experience sharing very frustrating. I have noticed that during my time
at my current organisation sharing of knowledge and Interaction of ideas between departments have decreased remarkably. I can understand
the frustrations felt by Jack Welch CEO of GE since I strive to share and merge knowledge and see it as essential to the organisation and
employees when

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Fingerprinting And Blood Testing Fingerprinting and blood testing are two types of assessments to make a positive identification of a criminal. Since everybody s fingerprints are diverse, it is easy to compare them through a computerized program that forensic scientists use. In order to prove if the DNA of a victim and a criminal match, there are steps that must be followed carefully and correctly. There are many reasons why fingerprinting is used as an important methods for identification (Hall, 2015). As stated by Hall (2015), A fingerprint consists of several identifiable characteristic, such as loops, arches, whorls, islands, and bifurcations. The arrangement, frequency, and design of these features are among the many characteristics used to distinguish prints from one another (p. 510). Everybody s fingerprints are the same. Fingerprints are kept in Federal and state agencies of the within the law. When someone commits a crime, a forensic scientist takes fingerprints and match them through the database in computers. Since fingerprinting does not go against the Fifth Amendment, a search warrant is not required. Fingerprints can be matched with someone s hair down the color of their eyes. Another type of type of recognition to identify someone is through blood tests, and it is used in the U.S. Benches. Technology And Its Impact On Technology Once the firms gets patency for their technology they can precede with their next step that is to manufacture the product, market the product and launch the product. Once the product is out in the market, the firm needs to monitor its product. Indirect Murder Cases While many thousands of murder cases go unsolved every year, it is a probable assumption that the general public would most likely only be able to name all they knew on one hand. In no particular order, the top three reoccurring would most likely be: the 1994 murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman (estranged ex husband Orenthal James Simpson), the 2008 murder of Caylee Anthony (mother Casey Anthony), and the 1996 murder of JonBenet Ramsey (Patsy, John, and Burke Ramsey). As all of these are high profile cold cases, all of them have thoroughly investigated not only by local investigators but also through the public eye, yet no charges have been filed against any party. Two of the three cases show blatant similarities one is that two of the three happened within the first six years of life (Caylee Anthony and JonBenet Ramsey), and in these cases the mothers were investigated more than any other possible suspect. One man has reviewed these previous cases in addition to multiple others, Stephen Diamond, who is a clinical and forensic psychologist in Los Angeles is further reviewing the JonBenet murder from the stance of a psychologist, just after the case has been cold for twenty years. The Mistreatment Of Animals In Tolkien s Middle Earth Just like Yavanna s words of defending nature and punishing wrongs, the Ents are roused by the mistreatment of the trees and march upon Isengard to take on Saruman. They destroy Saruman s dam in the River Isen, subsequently putting out his forging fires. I find it imperative to take note that characters who love and respect trees and nature are on the side of good; those who cause harm to the trees of Middle Earth are on the side of evil and typically do so for the sake of industry. Typically peaceful and wise, not very drawn to adventures or wars, if they are roused they can be terrible and they will fight fearlessly to protect the trees and forests. Analysis Of The Essential Metamorphoses And Goose Food Ovid s epic The Essential Metamorphoses and Ghandl s poem Goose food present similar visions of women, and the writers show that men might not actually be superior, compared to women as they are often portrayed in myth. Moreover, in Ovid, there are numerous myths told, but in most of them, there is a recurrent theme of misogyny, and in the first myth of the epic called Origin of the World , on top of just describing the creation of the world, it is mentioned that man was first to be created and woman was made second. This could be because of numerous reasons; for example, Ovid could have been jealous that it was actually woman that was created first or maybe Ovid wanted to follow what the rest of society believed in order to be able to gain the trust of the readers so that he could then be able to put unrealistic views and that when reading the epic, the reader becomes skeptical of what seems so true to him at first and that maybe the whole principal of man being at the center of attention is not a true fact. Similarly, in Ghandl s Goose Food , this story is told in a single way and man again is at the center of the attention, but this could be to give...(not good ). The Food Waste And Recycling Food Waste Recycling There are billions of people struggling every day to have enough to eat, and billions of tons of food being tossed in the garbage, food waste is gaining increasing awareness as a serious environmental and economic issue. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills, at a cost of about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, and the total cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s hungry people, but it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as the world s population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost, but it contributes to growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer and land. The fuel that is burned to process, refrigerate and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown away in landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent ... • 12. Heroism In The Twisted Hero The term twisted hero does not exist. At first glance, to most people, a twisted hero is believed to be a conservator, a simulacrum of a deity, to its dependents and followers, but nevertheless at times has iniquitous actions or a disturbed mindset. However, the meat and potatoes is that all heroes have effectuated immoral acts numerous times in their lives in some form, so according to the denotation above all heros are twisted. As a result of this, the concept of a twisted hero simply does not exist because people who are heroes are just heroes, not twisted heros. They cannot be both; either they are heros, people who do good deeds but sometimes do bad things, or twisted, people who have immoralistic mindsets and commit bad deeds. The Role of Intra party Opposition in National Liberation Movements By and large, in the latter half of the twentieth century a regime change has meant the victory of a leftist national liberation movement over an oppressive power; whether the new regime makes good on its stated purpose of delivering justice to its people has not evidenced such a standard pattern, however. While liberation movements such as the African National Congress (ANC) in South Africa were able successfully to convert their role as revolutionary freedom fighters into democratic participation in the state (Connell, 9), movements such as Castro s Cuban Revolution, while accomplishing regime change, failed to deliver a successful state. Radical Islamic Palestinian nationalist groups, the most prominent of which is Hamas, adamantly resist any concessions to the state of Israel and maintain that the PA should not be negotiating with the Israeli government. While there is little question that Hamas and similar organizations have had both the intent and the effect of erecting impediments on the road to a peace in the Middle East, this paper aims to dispel the notion that Palestinian opposition groups have completely derailed the peace process. Instead, I will argue that the presence of such vehement dissent is a necessary part to a lasting peace accord and to a stable two state solution, as this intra party opposition is often the most difficult hurdle to surmount for a national liberation movement that is attempting to rise to state power. To be clear, I argue that a critical first step to running a peaceful democratic state, before territory or infrastructure, is to pacify radical parties in a non dictatorial fashion; a process by which a new political regime proves itself capable of state governance by tying together the moderate with the extreme. I further assert that the notion is incorrect that because the PA is born out of the PLO, an organization that employed guerrilla tactics to spoil peace efforts, the new Authority is necessarily an untrustworthy body. The primary aim of this experiment was to determine if rats would gain a renewal of exploratory behavior due to displaced objects after habituation had settled in. Smotrich detailed in a message to me that while on a call with Officer Burns involving an individual experiencing an emotional crisis and wielding a metal pipe, he became increasingly concerned that Officer Burns would be unable to defend himself. The reason for this concern was based upon the perceived physical limitations demonstrated by Officer Burns on the call. Sgt. Smotrich noted a noticeable limp and lack of ability to move laterally or backwards in a reasonably quick manner. This caused Sgt. Smotrich concern because he did not want Officer Burns to fall and be unable to defend himself if the subject advanced quickly while wielding a pipe. Sgt. Smotrich indicated he felt that Officer Burns would have been unable to adequately defend himself or assist him if he needed it. Sgt. Smotrich also noticed that after Officer Burns handcuffed the subject who was on the ground in a prone position, he labored to successfully get up without assistance. Sgt. Smotrich felt it ... • 22. Negative Effects Of Imperialism Imperialism was an extremely big deal throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. There were many occurrences where people who were involved in imperialism would succeed, but there were also failures. Throughout this time period, powers from Europe, the United States and Japan all contributed to both the positive and negative impacts of imperialism. These impacts affected parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Some of the few people that made huge changes during the Age of Imperialism are Dadabha Naoroji, J.A. Hobson, Mary Kingsley, Edgar Canisius, Albert Beveridge, and Rudyard Kipling. Dadabha Naoroji was involved in many things but one of the most important was that he was a founder of the Indian National Congress. The Indian National Congress was a political organization that led efforts for independence and is a major political platform in India. During Naoroji s involvement in politics, he became the first Indian member of the House of Commons. While in office, Naoroji attempted to improve Britain s policies toward India and eventually succeeded. He wanted many things for the British rule such as the abolition of practicing widow burning, to emphasize the importance of education, and he also wanted the development of railways and irrigation. Naoroji goes on to say that he succeeded in almost all of these things and that the British accepted them, making the impact of imperialism positive. • 23. Enron’s Stakeholder Impact Case Analysis Essay Introduction: Widely known as the champion of the energy industry, Enron is suddenly faced with a corporate crisis in the form of a scandal. This scandal involves not only Enron s accounting practices but also its corporate governance and culture (Lawrence Weber, 2008). This report will recommend some potential strategies for Enron to move forward from the scandal. To do this, we must incorporate stakeholder theory, which argues that corporations serve a broad public purpose; to create value for society (Lawrence Weber, 2014, p 6.). This means that Enron must take responsibility for the scandal it created and take actions to regain its stakeholders confidence. To accomplish this, we will first identify and analyze Enron s primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They could decide not to file lawsuits and continue to support and help rebuild the company. This is not an easy task considering that the company broke their trust. Other significant stakeholders that deserve priority are Enron s employees. The employees present threats to Enron in two ways: they can form coalitions to exercise their legal rights, and they can also leave the company. They will most likely sue the company as they have lost vast amounts of their retirement savings (Moscoco and Deans, 2002). The urgency in this situation matters a lot as some employees are reaching their retirement age. When it comes to employees leaving the company, it is important to note that these employees have the necessary skills and are essential for the business to succeed. Here is where we see the opportunity. How is Enron going to recover without them? That being said, Enron has to do something to retain its employees. Lastly, the third stakeholder is the U.S. government, especially the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The U.S. government has tremendous legal and political power. They have the ability to sue, penalize, and create special regulations against Enron. Because the government s interest is to protect the public s interests, it is likely that the government will sanction Enron for its scandal (Lawrence Weber, 2014). Roman Myths Intro In 1955 poet and scholar Robert Graves wrote: Myth has two main functions, the first is to answer the sort of awkward questions that children ask ...The second function of myth is to justify an existing social system and account for traditional rites and customs . Myths have played a large role in many societies over time. Two societies that are known for their mythology are the Ancient Greeks and the Romans. There are many similarities between the myths of these two societies because the Romans enveloped much of the Greek mythology to use as their own. Because of this, it is interesting to take a look at how Greek and Roman mythologies compare. In addition to this, it is important to explore how these myths influenced their respective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Roman mythology has a lot in common with Greek mythology. Sometimes it is directly plagiarized, sometimes merely combined with an original Roman myth. The two most influential Roman writers in terms of Roman religious beliefs were Ovid whose Magnum Opus Metamorphoses created the canon of the history of the world for the ancient Romans and Virgil whose epic The Aeneid tells the story of the most famous Roman hero, the trojan warrior Aeneas. The common theme of intervening gods can be found in nearly all religions but Greek and Roman mythology are perhaps the most famous for gods who actively meddle in the plans and goals of other deities. • 25. Regulation and Functions of the p53 Protein p53 gene, also known as tumor protein 53 (TP53), encodes for a tumor suppressor protein which regulates the cell cycle and apoptosis. The p53 protein has been described as the guardian of the genome (1) because of its role in preventing genetic mutation. It belongs to a protein family which includes p53, p63 and p73 and these are structurally and functionally related to each other. However, p53 seems to have evolved as a tumor suppressor in higher organisms, while p63 and p73 play a role in normal developmental biology (2). Structure of p53 P53 functions primarily as a transcription factor, and is biologically active as a homo tetramer comprising of 4 X 393 amino acid residues. Each monomer comprises of several functional domains: 1. An acidic N terminus transcription activating domain 1 and 2 (TAD1/2) This region interacts with various transcription factors 2. Proline rich region (PRR) This plays a role in p53 stability 3. Furthermore, in the past quite a few of my training drills came from the International Fire Service Training Association manual or similar resources. Consequently, the drills we do should be more than by the numbers drills, they should be operations that imitate what we will do at the emergency scene. They should be our bread and butter drills that we must get correct, every time. These drills must emulate what we do on the fire ground as a department. The goal should be training that becomes a common reaction and not a focus on what we remember as a one, two, three process. Therefore, an example of a drill that I have used at my department for training is a firefighter calling a Mayday. This is a very commanding evolution in the fire service today, from the low occurrences and the extremely high risk associated with a mayday. The first part of the drill was a review of our mayday policy and the classroom simulation of practicing the mayday. Throughout her writing, the speaker s attitude towards death appears to be happy but, when looking more closely at Plath s use of poetic devices her attitude is bitter. Shown mainly through the diction, images, sounds and repetition, this depressing tone emphasizes the speaker s feelings about death. Also, there are words that describe actions taking place when death attempts occur. For example, annihilate (24), The peanut crunching crowd / Shoves in to see (26 27), I rocked shut (39) and That knocks me out (56) shows negative action towards death. First of all, annihilate means to destroy, which gives a downbeat connotation towards the tone of the poem. Then, the crowd refers to the others and their discouragement in this woman s life, which leads to disappointment and an unconstructive tone towards death in the poem. Then the last two examples describe the speaker s feelings towards a hopeless end to life. This type of diction used to accentuate the tone of the poem further supports the pessimistic nature. Lastly, another use of diction in Plath s poem is words associated with death and therefore, internally affect the tone of the poem. Interwoven with themes of longing, impermanence and loneliness, selections from The Ink Dark Moon sting with forbidden love and savor of bitterness, while exploring the intricately beautiful characteristics of human emotion. Although the selected poems are brief and concise conforming to the characteristics of brevity and succinct language in traditional ancient Japanese poetry the carefully selected words and painstakingly constructed phrases elicit a marked emotional response in the reader. Utilizing literary devices such as vivid descriptive imagery, metaphor and symbolism, the authors explore piercingly poignant emotional experiences through the lens of nature and the exploration of Buddhist ideologies. Beginning with a stark comparison of mankind and nature, the first selection by Ono No Komachi exemplifies the use of naturalistic themes and impermanence in ancient Japanese poetry. Komachi contrasts hunting lanterns, (p. 41, line 1) with the mountain on which the hunting has taken place, bringing to mind imagery of an abandoned mountain once brimming with hunters. The author utilizes this imagery as a means through which to demonstrate the speaker s own loneliness and feelings of abandonment after the initial excitement laden stages of love have subsided. • 43. Comparing The Loss Of Innocence In Wild Swans By Alice... Both Wild Swans by Alice Munro and Flowers by Alice Walker explore the loss of innocence in young women. Women have historically been seen as delicate and in need of protection. It is no wonder that the loss of a woman s virginity is referred to as deflowering, comparing a woman s sexual release to the death of beautiful, fragile nature. A woman s innocence is coveted, as people go to great lengths to shield them from both the reality of death and the pleasures of sex. The loss of certain kinds of innocence, specifically sexual, can be seen as shameful for a woman, as opposed to the masculine pride a man may feel from the same events. Through the choice of point of view, plot, and tone, Walker depicts Myop in Flowers as finding more peace in her loss of innocence than Rose does in Wild Swans. Walker tells Myop s story in a third person omniscient point of view, but limits greatly the extent to which she discloses Myop s inner feelings. Only once does Walker refer to Myop as unafraid (Walker 76), giving us some insight into her thoughts. However, most of the story is told from a rather detached point of view, mostly noting Myop s actions and the setting around her. Myop s thoughts, then, must be gleaned from the events of the story. One sees in how Myop responds to the corpse casually plucking a flower from beside his head that while the corpse has stripped her of her innocence, she has become more mature through her experience. Myop understands and accepts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This group of youths referred to as hippies developed a whole new quot;counter culture, quot; which included a minority of the quot;fake quot; hippies who merely saw the quot;counter culture quot; as a fashion rather than something they believed in deeply. The group of hippies proclaimed itself an quot;alternative society, quot; and favored very simple and communal living which included free experimentation with drugs, free experimentation of sex, and a strong commitment to quot;peace and love. quot; These political and social changes such as the civil rights movements and the new quot;counter culture quot; had lasting effects on one specific element of the decade: rock and roll music. Rock and roll musicians were not much different from any other Americans in that they were forced to go through the same hardships as the rest of the people, such as racial discrimination and unjust government, or Establishment. The main difference is that many of the quot;other people quot; (the people of everyday society) did not have the same opportunity to express their feelings with the world. The frustration with racism and prejudice was blatantly obvious in many acts due to the genre s increasing aggression and hostility. Also, the country s cry for peace and love was exemplified no better than by rock musicians on stage. In their search for something different, the youth and rock musicians attempted to find a path leading them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
