The Debate Over Gun Control
Never A Win Win The topic of gun control has become very popular in recent years as there is now
more controversy than ever about the role that guns play in today s world. I have come to be interested
in this topic because it seems like not a day goes by anymore where there isn t a newspaper published
with an article slandering either the pro or anti gun control activists. Going into this topic, I was
assuming that I would end up reading about a lot of school shootings and how it is just guns that are
causing so many deaths each year, but there seems to be a bit more to it than that. It really is no
surprise that this topic has become so popular as of late, considering that in 2014 there were roughly
51,000 firearm related incidents, and in 2015 roughly 53,000 incidents. If there is one thing that I for
sure already know, its that guns have a huge impact on our society. There are so many lives that are
impacted by gun related incidents every year that it is nearly impossible to get away from. So the
question stands, are guns a necessary and helpful tool for Americans to wield, or are they the merciless
killing machines that they have been publicized as in recent years? While researching gun control, one
of the first major sources that I found was of course the second amendment to the United States
constitution. The second amendment is as follows, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the
security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and

What Are The Key Themes In The Call Of The Wild
The ability to critically review a book is an essential skill that every academician should possess.
Academicians should have the capacity to identify the central theme of an author in a book. They
should also understand the way the author has presented the theme in the book. Without these
capabilities, reading books are only waste of time because it is not beneficial reading a book if one
does not understand it.
Academic institutions test these skills in their students through assignments on critical book reviews.
Students should know that tasks on critical book reviews mainly test their knowledge in their field of
study and their ability to engage objective analysis of books relating to their area of study. They
should know that book reviews have two primary purposes. The first is to show readers that one
knows the content of the book (the main theme of the book) and the second is to show readers that one

Buck saves Thornton life on various occasions and even kills a man for his sake. Buck wins Thornton
a nearly impossible bid for him to express his devotion to him. Later, when the Yeehat Indian kill
Thornton Buck avenges his death by killing many of the Indians. Then, he follows a pack of wolves

Call of the Wild.
The main themes of The Call of the Wild is adaptations and survival for the fittest (natural selection).
Thorne uses this book to express his support for these two biological theories. In the book, the
protagonist Buck, a domestic dog (pet), is taken away from the comforts of the wealthy human home,
a judge s home, to the harsh outdoor conditions of the cold north. There, Buck life changes
completely. Firstly, Buck suffers starvation during his transportation to the north. Buck, had never

The American Revolution Was A Political Revolution
In the 1700s, Great Britain was the strongest empire economically; she had established many colonies
as well as rivals in the New World. Most important was Britain s rivalry with France as it led to the
Seven Year War. The war had drained the empire economically, causing it to place taxes on the
colonies in the New World. In turn rebellions arose and led the colonies to declare independence. For
the thirteen colonies the American Revolution began with its Declaration of Independence. The
American Revolution was indeed a revolution, because its conclusion brought change. However, the
American Revolution was a political revolution and but not a social revolution.

Finally the colonists were represented. The second form of Republicanism is defined by perceiving the
nation as an organic whole composed of people nobly sacrificed for the common good for an
individual s pursuit of rational self interest . This form of republicanism depicts the idea of
nationalism in the colonies. The creation of a nation created patriotic pride within the colonies and a
sense of equality. This was a change in value because the colonist were initially subjects of the king
and now every colonist is a citizen and equal. Lastly, the third form of Republican government was
more liberal since men who advanced towards this form wanted government to respond directly to the
needs of ordinary folk, rejecting any notion that the lesser sort should automatically defer to their
betters . This shows how common people had gained a say in government through voting. This is a
change in value because before the colonist didn t have a say in the parliament.
The American Revolution was a political revolution because it resulted with change in the way
government was organized. In May 1776, before the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the
Second Continental Congress met and decided to create a constitution before creating a new
government. The creation of the constitution placed limitations on the fundamental structure of the
government. The

The Roles Of Auditing And Assurance Services
Introduction
The role accounting firms played in the last financial crisis raised questions about the legitimacy of
auditing and assurance services. Auditors, who are considered independent and are supposed to
provide reliable information to financial statement users, played a major part in the financial
institutions crisis. The role of auditing is not to stop management from making poor business
decisions, but it is to make sure that those decisions are properly disclosed (Rapoport, 2010).
However, auditors failed to fulfill that role while auditing some of the largest financial institutions,
which led to a huge financial meltdown during the first decade of the 21st Century. As a result of the
financial crisis, questions regarding the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is important to assure a greater independence and objectivity that offset the cost of
switching. One example where auditors independence raised question is when the Ernest Young
auditors allowed Lehman Brothers to use the off balance sheet financing method to hide its leverage.
Ernest Young helped Lehman Brothers, a company they audited for many years, to mislead investors
about the company s financial position which eventually led to its collapse.
Audit Deficiencies
External auditors could have prevented the collapse of large financial institutions by being more
skeptical and exercising professional due care while servicing their clients. In many cases, auditors
failed to obtain sufficient evidence supporting key assumption of management asset valuations, asset
ownerships or the use of accounting estimates. Ernst Young failed to exercise professional due care
while auditing Lehman Brothers.
Lehman Brothers used Repo 105 transactions that a British law firm approved for them to make its
balance sheet look better and Ernst Young agreed to the accounting management applied to these
transactions without actually examining any of the Repo 105 transactions. According to Tracy Coenen
(2010), Ernst and Young didn t even check the impact of these transactions on Lehman financial
statements, whether they are material to their balance sheet and therefore did

Interpersonal Relationships in Anne of Green Gables
This paper will cover the interpersonal relationships in the movie Anne of Green Gables. The movie
begins when a thirteen year old orphan girl Anne is adopted by siblings Marilla and Matthew
Cuthbert. They were expecting a boy to arrive on the train, but Anne was sent instead. Marilla saw no
need to keep her, because they had no need for a girl. They needed a boy to help Matthew around the
farm, but a short while after being on trial Anne was officially adopted. Anne of Green Gables takes
the journey of girl with an imagination bigger than life, hair as red as carrots, and a heart of gold. It
takes the viewer from the frivolous ways of a young girl to the purposeful steps of seventeen year ...

The first phrase out of Gilbert s mouth to Anne was something she hated more than her red hair. After
Gilbert started picking on her and then said, Hey, Carrots! Carrots! the expressed struggle between
Anne and Gilbert is seen in full.(McDougall Sullivan, 1985) A second after he said carrots Anne
stands up and yells How dare you? while breaking a chalk slate over his head. (McDougall Sullivan,
1985) Gilbert immediately took the blame when Anne was being punished by the teacher, and after
school apologizes to her. He did not realize that what he meant as an attention grabber would only
gain him hate. Now Anne could have accepted his apology and they could have gone on being friends,
but Anne saw no way to do that. The pain from his remark left her numb to knowing how to forgive
him. The expressed struggle is expressed throughout the rest of the movie when Gilbert seeks to help
Anne, or to be her friend. Another example of expressed struggle is when Anne took a dare to walk
across the ridge pole of a roof. Almost halfway across the roof she fell and broke her ankle. Gilbert
was the first one to help her up, and then offered her a ride home despite the expressed struggle. She
acknowledged his help and thanked him for it, then neglected to allow him to help her. The struggle
was recognized and could have been resolved much sooner if Anne has just let go

Nike Case Analysis
At the moment Nike has the upper hand over other corporations allowing for significant economic
advancements. Conversely, it is important that Nike does not only use these initiatives as advertising
ploys but rather actually continues to make real change around the world. There is a significant
amount of opportunity here for Nike to pressure other corporations and even governments into acting
against climate change and towards better social conditions (JASP, 2016). Nevertheless, because of
how much global influence Nike hold, they have the potential to do much more than that. The
corporation could work with various organizations, academic programs and NGOs in order to do more
research into what the most ideal conditions are and what kinds of needs need to be addressed to better
the overall social, economic and environmental conditions in which the production processes is
occurring (JASP, 2016). Furthermore, while Nike was inspired by ethnic consumers, so can it promote
ethnic consumption to those who might not have originally considered these issues whilst purchasing
these or even other commodities (JASP, 2016). The fear at the moment, however, is that Nike is only
in it for the money. During the boycott of the 1990s, Nike could have avoided the crisis through acting
sooner and recognizing the inequalities in their corporation though they chose instead to ignore their
demands (Jackson and Schantz, 1993, 32). In fact, it was not until years later, when the longevity of

The Death Of The Moth Annie Dillard Analysis
Annie Dillard s piece The Death of the Moth , is about Dillard being reminded of the death of a moth
she observes and how it relates to herself, this piece is a great depiction of the impact of life and death.
Dillard describes her surroundings living in a rural area and within her bathroom is a spider which
Dillard reminds of a moth that she killed in her past when she sees the web that the spider has spun
and how it has caught many bugs including two moths. She is intrigued by the dead moth s bodies and
givings a vivid description of the bodies While describing the moth s dead torn body she relates it to a
personal experience from her past where she watched a moth die with candle two years ago. Dillard

Knowing this, she takes her experience and uses it to write this piece and uses it to spread her message
and her feelings toward the topic.
Dillard uses descriptions of her experience to flow with the story using metaphors and other ways of
conveying her message about life and death. Through this she allowed us to peer into her life in that
moment and convey the feeling she felt indirectly through the descriptions. This makes the text
effective because it causes the reader to look at oneself about life and death and the other topics that
could come from the essay. This gives her credibility because she experienced it first hand (ethos,
pathos). Playing on your emotion from person experience with death. Making the text more effective.

Randy Pausch, Speaking Skills
Randy Pausch; Speaking Strengths By Amanda Apatow Communications Paper #2 February 28th

how would you react? When Randy Pausch, a virtual design professor at the University of Carnegie

everything he did would be the last time he did it. Randy chose his last lecture to be an inspiring

So it is important to be direct and solid with your statements when you tell stories and give
instructions. All of Randy s sorties and jokes were easy to understand and direct. Something that
Pausch did that was very creative was his use of foreshadowing. The photo of him and his siblings on
the Alice ride at Disney as a child connected well with the program he designed later in life as a
professor. Furthermore, he made that it apparent to his audience that may not have originally seen the
connection by stating it was a foreshadowing moment. By leaving the story open ended until a later
time in his lecture, he captured the interest of people who didn t know him prior by intriguing them
with a mystery. Then to people who did understand, it was a fun and heartwarming connection. The
point of using foreshadowing and other organization techniques is to keep the brain occupied and
attentive. Pausch does an excellent job of this. Despite Pausch s tragic diagnosis, the man stands
strong with a positive outlook on life. His ability to be realistic about his condition commands respect
while his lightheartedness gives shows us that he is at peace with his fate. Pausch involves the
audience, speaking to them directly as if he is simply in an extensively long conversation. His jokes
are sweet and good hearted. Some jokes are more general, but a few were very

Nuclear Waste Policy Analysis
In 1987, the U.S. Congress passed the Amendments to the Nuclear Waste Policy Act that designated
Yucca Mountain 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas as the top site to store nuclear waste from across the
country.
For the last 30 years, the project has faced a strong opposition from Nevada officials and many
residents of the state, while nuclear power interests, utility companies, and some Congress members
have been supportive of it. In 2002, Congress and President George W. Bush approved Yucca
Mountain as the first geologic repository for storage of spent fuel and high level waste, and the

Free Speech Importance
The right to free speech is deemed important in the lives of many people. This importance of the right
to free speech does not only apply democratic countries such as the United States of America, but also
for the people fighting to have their voices heard. There are many places within our world where
people do not have the right to share their own voice and ideas. Throughout the world, people s voices
are oppressed and silenced simply because their ideas may differ from the rules of the powerful.
Although a power may claim that their people are without a voice, many still stand up and make their
voices heard to bring change to the lives of not only themselves, but also the lives of others. The use
of speech has the power to unify and bring change throughout the world. The United States of
America was built upon this need for change, seeking freedom from whom they believed oppressed
them. This importance of the right to free speech is seen within the first American Amendment. The
First Amendment protects religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition . The First Amendment
protects the American people, allowing for the expression of all ideas and opinions without the risk of
being silenced. The right to free speech within the First Amendment protects our liberty both to
express and be exposed to ideas and opinions, especially unpopular one. It covers all forms of
communication . This protection of the free right of speech is what makes the United States and other
countries like it special. People have the right and the opportunity to express their own ideas, even
when they are unpopular. Through the freedom of speech, the American people have been given a
power that not every person has. The American people have been given the power to invoke change in
an imperfect world. Free speech has allowed the people to reshape the United States for both the better
and the worse. The purpose of this research paper is to argue that the right to free speech has governed
who gets to exercise American citizenship over time. The right to free speech has shaped the United
States, influencing who has the right to exercise true American citizenship. A prime example of the
power that free speech has had over shaping a

Jean Jacques Rousseau And Mary Wollstonecraft
The Age of Enlightenment began in the late 17th century and had some key ideas developed by
education innovators that changed the way that society views children and education. Many of these
ideas stem from the revolutionary work of Jean Jacques Rousseau and Mary Wollstonecraft. This
essay will discuss the main ideas from their work and also how it is reflected in other work during the
Age of Enlightenment for educationalists such as Johann Pestalozzi and Robert Owen. The final
aspect of this essay will discuss how these ideas are reflected in early New Zealand education and the
system.
Jean Jacques Rousseau s ideas about children and education were both admired and criticised widely.
He was regarded as a foundational thinker on education (May, 2013, p.32). Ideas of his that were
praised and inspired other people s work included encouraging infants to be unrestricted and roam free
in the environment. During the time of Rousseau s work, children were swaddled to prevent bones and
muscles from becoming deformed. Rousseau believed that it would be beneficial for children to have
some freedom and interact with the surroundings of the environment. This is thought to be extremely
beneficial for their learning and development. Rousseau also had a view that male education should be
superior to female education. He believed that females should be educated to become good mothers
and wives. Females should be supported by their husbands. These skills would be taught to them by

Organic Foods And Organic Food
In 1980, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) took an interest in organic farming, publishing a
report titled Report and Recommendations on Organic Farming. (Organic Debate, 2014) As organic
foods have been growing rapidly in the last 20 years there has been a lot of talking about whether or
not organic foods are healthy. As people today have been eating a lot more of organic foods they are
having arguments stating that organic food is not what they say on the labels. Although people think
that organic food is not what the farmers say it is, it still helps people with there health and provides a
healthier lifestyle. In order to maintain the apparent understanding of organic food buying behaviors
of consumers, it can be helpful to examine the effect of motivating factors on both the attitude towards
organic foods and the intention to buy organic foods together with the mediation effect of attitude
towards organic foods (Cabuk, 2014).
People tend to argue on the fact of whether or not organic foods are good for them. According to Soley

Essay On Should Police Wear Body Cameras
Over the past year there have been many situations between police officers and civilians that we don t
exactly know what happened because it someone s word over another. In August 2014, an unarmed
black teenager, Michael Brown, was shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Some witnesses
confirmed the police officer s claim that he shot the teenager under self defense. While others claimed
that the victim posed no threat to the officer and that the shooting was uncalled for. The result of this
was that the police officer wasn t charged with a crime. If that officer had been wearing a body
camera, while he was on duty, we could see with our own eyes if Michael Brown was threatening to
the officer or if the shooting was unjustified. Police officers should wear body cameras while on duty
because the cameras would hold police accountable to their actions, prevent violence, and would
improve the public s perspective on police officers.

This paper analyzes the facts behind how developed countries are able to achieve strong currencies
through the exchange rate mechanisms as well as fiscal and monetary policies to ensure stability of the
currency. It shows how the exchange rate is affected through several factors such as inflation rate,

The Importance Of Smartphones In Education
Ethics in and through Technology Student Reflection Survey Smartphones or mobile technologies are
becoming more visible in our school systems. Allowing student access to technology could grow and
prepare them for the college arena. With the growing issues of utilizing technology more main stream
in education, school districts should ensure for student safety and implementation of technology.
Tablets are replacing our textbooks, and we can research just about anything that we want to on our
smartphones (Cox (n.d.) para.1). Due to the ethical concern, majority of schools have adapted the use
of I pads in the classroom over the use of personal smartphones. Teachers implemented district issued
technology lessens the safety concerns of use in the classroom. Sites intended for implement have
already received approval for use by the district, and then closely monitored by the instructor.
However, due to the student teacher ratio, teachers still may have a blind eye to what students are
doing on these devices. It is up to that teacher to set regulations for using a computer before admission
of use can began. There is a solution to this disadvantage with the usage of technology. We used the
term My Brother s keeper , we hold each other accountable for our actions with the use of technology.

Spirited Away Sociology
Spirited away is a Japanese animated movie based upon Japanese folklore regarding Kamikakushi
(Spirited Away). This particular legend is very ancient, dating back to prehistorical Jomon Japan
around 2,300 years ago; it was derived upon frequent disappearance of children in premodern Japan,
who often reappears several days after in a temple or shrine. It is believed that an infuriated god in the
mountain has abducted, hidden, and enslaved the children.
This folklore was adapted to create a modern fiction, Spirited Away. In this film, the primary
protagonist, Chihiro, ends up being Spirited Away from the real world to the spirit realm. The director
of this film, Miyazaki Hayao, brilliantly denounces many contemporary controversial topics: ... Show

perfect signifier of class based system.
Throughout this film, the girl s struggle from alienation is depicted in detail. Chihiro had to adjust to
the spiritual world s common sense, discrimination, manners, labor market, and others, which
differentiated significantly from the one s she is used to in reality. The bathhouse mainly revolves
around interactive service work and physical labor; women mainly handles the aesthetic labor and
men handles the physical labor. Although Chihiro is a ten years old girl, she was forced to handle hard
physical labor with no assistance or guidance from other employees. The special division of labor was
manifested due to her being the only human in the workplace. Other workers, who were miscellaneous
spirits and supernatural beings, distasted Chihiro for being a

Summer Day Descriptive Writing
It was a gorgeous summer day. the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the world was at peace
on the seemingly carefree sunday afternoon. church had just ended and the children ran fast and free
ready to play. They ran two and twelve towards the town s lake to go swimming, in order to ward off
the heat of the noon sun. They stampeded through town bumping over numerous people and even one
another to reach the cool blue waves. The menacing multitude took a sharp turn from the street to an
old dusty road. The trees shook in the evening breeze and swayed slightly further when the children
hurried by. Dust faintly clouded out the light that poured over the path. Finally they reached the dock
and began to take off and swap clothes. The boys took off their shirts and pants and swam in their
underwear, while the girls chose to go behind some nearby bushes.and exchange out their attire. When
everyone was in they started to splash one another while laughing and shouting. A few of them dived
under the water to search for fish and other sea life. When they came back, up two of them had
seaweed, one held a starfish, and two others had a crab holding it by both sides. It was getting a little
later in the day, but the kids were not quite yet ready to leave their fun to rest. They decided to play
hide and seek even though the sun was beginning to make its descent behind the green curtains that
were the distant hills. One child counted while everyone hid and waited. As he counted out

Global Economic Development As A Trade Policy Essay
Global economic development as a trade policy
However, would the idea of mercantilists who emphasize the only national benefits, productivity, or
competitiveness fit to the current globalised world? Krugman (1996) denies the idea of mercantilism
as they do not fully understand the meaning of comparative advantage. Comparative Advantage is an
economic law made by David Richard in 1817 who expanded Adam Smith s Wealth of Nations.
Comparative Advantage law encourages free trade that stimulate market competition and industry
specialization to a country to export. As the scale of economy works in specialization, it would make
production of goods more efficient and thereby reduces the aggregate cost within the framework.
Therefore all the citizen could receive the benefit (Todaro 2014).
With this Comparative Advantage law, the global partnership has introduced the change of norm in the
trading. World Trade Organisation, for example, has been trying to create the global framework of free
trading since the time of its predecessor the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). GATT
was founded to establish an orderly and transparent framework within which barriers to trade could be
gradually reduced, and international trade thereby expanded (Healy et al. 1998). Although this
framework treated all members as equal as possible (Most Favoured Nation (MFN) principle), some
exceptions and waivers were prepared with the acknowledgment of circumstances in developing
countries,

Batman In The Black Glove
Batman R.I.P characterizes the dramatic rise and fall of Batman at the hand of The Black Glove. This
story is as much an emotional roller coaster for the reader as it is for the Batman. The setting of the
story begins 6 months prior to the events of the book. Batman nearly dies under the treatment of a
psychologist, later revealed to be, Le Bossu, an important member of the Black Glove. with Dr. Hurt,
the leader of The Black Glove, announcing to other members of The Black Glove his plan to destroy
Batman once and for all. While The Black Glove (and Joker) plan their destruction of Batman,
Batman is building a relationship with his new girlfriend Jezabell, who is later revealed as a member
of the Black Glove. He reveals to her the most intimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is the force that is able to break Batman. Through his disguise as a psychologist, he is able to
condition and break Batman s mind and use the Zur En Arrh persona to destroy him. Le Bossu s
physical description is interesting too. He looks very much like an evil scientist, with the hunched
back, a wide smile, and glasses. This sells the idea that he is smart, but also villainy. Le Bossu,
contributes greatly to establishing the crime ring in Gotham City during Batman s absence. Le Bossu s
confidence in his ability to defeat Batman and how he s able to disguise himself makes him a fearful,
yet adaptive character.
Honor serves as a spiritual character. He is used to represents Bruce s inner consciousness on his
journey to becoming himself again. Honors representation as a homeless man is important. To Bruce,
this is a very low point of human existence (fall from a billionaire to a homeless person). Honor
teaches Bruce how to rise up again through his spiritual knowledge. Without the help of this spiritual
guru, it is likely Bruce would have completely lost

Tahitian Dance Research Paper
A Tahiti Fete is a cultural dance competition. It is used to gather those whose passion is presenting
their own interpretation of what the traditional dance portrays and allows them to present their
creations. Tahitian dance, similar to all Polynesian dance, is used to tell stories through motion and
sound. Body movement of each individual as well as movement of the group as a whole is carefully
planned to tell the story in the most realistic way possible. Although Tahitian dance is indigenous to
Polynesia, it has been introduced and performed elsewhere San Jose for example. San Jose holds a
Tahitian competition the Tahiti Fete as large as those in Tahiti itself. Groups from all over the world
join the competition held in San Jose including individuals from Russia and Japan. Being a part of this
event has been a life changing experience for me.

Chinese Americans And Filipino Americans
With all the discord going on around the word today, it is quite easy for us to forget that at the end of
the day, we are very much similar to each other. When we hear of the Chinese Americans and Filipino
Americans living in America today, not often do we see a connection between the two except for the
fact that they come from Asia or have descendants from Asia. If we dive deeper into history, we will
see that when the Chinese and the Filipinos first came to America, they had very similar purposes and
goals in mind; one of them being make money and go back home. They were both determined to work
hard for a country quite foreign to them but both were also targeted as the other side and a majority of
them suffered from ill treatments like assault and blatant discrimination.
Before the Chinese began to immigrate to America, China had previously lived in isolation from the
rest of the world for a while after Zheng He s voyages in the 15th century allowed the Chinese to
receive confirmation that they were much more advanced than any other group at that time. However,
China still participated in the Manila Galleon Trade with Mexico until the 1800s in which Chinese
goods such as silk, ivory and porcelain were exchanged for silver. In the late 1700s the first ship from
the United States with the name Empress of China sailed for China with intentions to start a trade
relationship between the two countries. The trip proved to be successful and led to investors being
encouraged to

Theories Of Sleep
One of the most fascinating natural occurrences known to science is something everyone s body
requires them to do, this strange phenomenon is sleep. Sleep is not fully understood by anyone, there
are too many variables and unanswered questions to discover what sleep is for and why the human
body stresses sleeping so much. Dreams are just as undiscovered as sleep. There are many
observations made about dreams and what parts of the brain are utilized during these inter sleep
hallucinations. But like sleep, there is no official reason or meaning behind it. Sleep and dreams,
although strange and without apparent purpose, reveal many things about an individual, his or her
habits, and potentially innermost subconscious thoughts.
Despite the unanswered questions and the unknown factors behind sleep and dreams, there are many
theories behind their purposes. Many popular sleep theories have to do with keeping out body and
mind in top shape. Some examples of sleep theories are: protection, recuperation, memory restoration,
and growth. (Myers, 2014) All of these theories are beneficial to the body and its functionality. The
protection theory assumes that the feeling of sleep kicks in when it is dark or dangerous out and
danger is more prevalent. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dreams reveal to a person his or her most passionate desires, emotions, and worries. These two things
reveal many things about people as well. It can be observed that a person that rarely sleeps may be
stressed out, or maybe that his body operates on a slightly different circadian rhythm, or even that the
person is just very busy. Dreams can reveal a lot about emotion If a person has violent dreams very
frequently it can be assumed that he or she could feel angry, frustrated, or vulnerable. Although sleep
and dreams have an unsolidified purpose, sleep and dreams benefit the body and mind in many ways
by creating a better performing body and

Hymn To Odyn Analysis
Apollo Hymn Homer s hymn to Pythian Apollo is written as a homage to Apollo, composed of stories
illustrating the important aspects of his life. Homer goes on to describe in detail how Apollo wishes to
find a suitable site for his all knowing oracle, how he ultimately decides upon building his temple at
the site of Delphi, Hera s birth to the monstrous Typhaon, and conclusively, how Apollo recruits his
Cretan followers or priests. The hymn opens with a description of worship for the god Apollo, while
he plays his lyre. With the first few notes of his song, the other immortals quickly gather to the place
where the melody can be heard. Apollo s music is entrancing, all present are intrigued by the beautiful
music that is playing, and in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homer goes on to describe how as Apollo was considering how to acquire these followers, he took
notice of a passing ship on the sea full of Cretan sailors. Intercepting them on their journey, Apollo
transformed into a dolphin and lept upon their boat, and caused the ship to shake with his mighty
power. The sailors, unrecognizing of the god, became fearful and followed the powerful wind that lead
them to Crisa. Once upon the shore, Apollo revealed his true and mighty form to the sailors installing
an awesome fear in each of them (278) and they rejoiced in serving him. With the aid of Apollo, the
sailors all became initiated so they may devote themselves to the practices and worship of Apollo.
This story highlights how Apollo came to be known as Apollo Delphinios, the root of the word
meaning dolphin, and likewise, how the location received the name Delphi. Along with the tales
asserting Apollo s birth and origin, the hymn also discusses Hera and the monster Typhaon that she
creates. Enraged with her husband Zeus, since he has on his own born the wise goddess Athena from
his forehead, Hera hopes to give birth a monster that will become famous among mortals, but will not
go against the sacred marriage vow that she and Zeus share. Hera prayed to the Earth and the
Heavens, as well as Tartarus, asking them for a child who will have strong enough powers to rival
even Zeus and his own father Cronus. The Earth

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Death Penalty In The...
Death Penalty should be implemented again here in the Philippines
People have different opinions and ideas regarding the issue on death penalty. In fact, this death
penalty is still a debatable issue and requires the opinions of people, researchers, and experts. Mostly
people may say that they are not in favor of this penalty for it is cruel. People may say that death
penalty may not be a possible solution for the crimes and injustices happening around us. But, people
got wrong with this idea, with this statement because this death penalty is in fact, a good and a
possible solution for what is happening right now. Death penalty could provide advantages to us and
surely we could really benefit from these advantages.
Death penalty should be implemented again here in the Philippines so that justice will prevail, there
could be an effective way to ban criminals, there could be a suitable punishment, the people could
decide properly, and there could be less chaos.
Death penalty is a serious punishment. Death penalty can also be called as a capital punishment. Death

Right now, we may observe that when criminals are just being put into prison, crimes are still going
on and it became more and more. It is like criminals are still being given the freedom to do things
again and again. So with death penalty, it may help lessen the crimes and it may create an effective
way to ban criminals. With this penalty, it may lead people in giving up for committing a crime. First,
people may or would think twice or more than twice with their decisions and second, people may
change their minds and would decide to not commit a crime. Also with death penalty, it may allow the
people to be afraid in committing a crime in their life. Study also shows that having this penalty aims
to discourage others from doing or committing a

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger And Tonto...
Throughout The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven the theme of resilience is deliberately
presented. Native Americans past and present continue to face stifling issues such as racism,
alcoholism, isolation and suicide. Sherman Alexie makes it his obligation in his stories and poems to
show Native American resiliency through humor. By using his characters to show resiliency through
humor Alexie presents humor as an integral part of Native American survival. In Sherman Alexie s
best work to date The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven humor allows his characters to
display strength, hide weakness, to expose prejudice, avoid realities and to create bonds (Coulombe,
94). I believe Alexie s humor engages readers creating positive connections between individuals of
diverse backgrounds and disrupts tension between racial communities. Humor is often defined by its
fluidity, its paradoxes and its ability to surprise (Coulombe, 95). Humor teaches self knowledge and
social awareness. Alexie s use of humor encourages readers to think anew by creating a space of
shared inquiry and reciprocal empathy. Many believe his play to humor and writing betrays Indian
people by presenting them as clichés to be laughed person s name says hey while other persona says
he Avoiding to educate white readers and re instill cultural pride in Indian readers he actively works
against such goals with his humor . However I believe Sherman Alexie humor is central to

Moralism In The Movie High Noon
High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950 s, shines light on the true nature of one
standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red
Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced
to give names of others who they thought were communists or else they would be punished. If the
communist actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other s careers. Some of the people
refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for
what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to
support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn t want to risk their own reputation
and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and
exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect
themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture s main character is a marshal
named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He s asked by the townspeople to relocate because a
few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain
stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove
themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone.
High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone.
Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in
the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being
claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they
believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the
audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal s face, the
weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of the
men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his

  • 2. The Debate Over Gun Control Never A Win Win The topic of gun control has become very popular in recent years as there is now more controversy than ever about the role that guns play in today s world. I have come to be interested in this topic because it seems like not a day goes by anymore where there isn t a newspaper published with an article slandering either the pro or anti gun control activists. Going into this topic, I was assuming that I would end up reading about a lot of school shootings and how it is just guns that are causing so many deaths each year, but there seems to be a bit more to it than that. It really is no surprise that this topic has become so popular as of late, considering that in 2014 there were roughly 51,000 firearm related incidents, and in 2015 roughly 53,000 incidents. If there is one thing that I for sure already know, its that guns have a huge impact on our society. There are so many lives that are impacted by gun related incidents every year that it is nearly impossible to get away from. So the question stands, are guns a necessary and helpful tool for Americans to wield, or are they the merciless killing machines that they have been publicized as in recent years? While researching gun control, one of the first major sources that I found was of course the second amendment to the United States constitution. The second amendment is as follows, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Are The Key Themes In The Call Of The Wild The ability to critically review a book is an essential skill that every academician should possess. Academicians should have the capacity to identify the central theme of an author in a book. They should also understand the way the author has presented the theme in the book. Without these capabilities, reading books are only waste of time because it is not beneficial reading a book if one does not understand it. Academic institutions test these skills in their students through assignments on critical book reviews. Students should know that tasks on critical book reviews mainly test their knowledge in their field of study and their ability to engage objective analysis of books relating to their area of study. They should know that book reviews have two primary purposes. The first is to show readers that one knows the content of the book (the main theme of the book) and the second is to show readers that one can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main themes of The Call of the Wild is adaptations and survival for the fittest (natural selection). Thorne uses this book to express his support for these two biological theories. • 4. The American Revolution Was A Political Revolution In the 1700s, Great Britain was the strongest empire economically; she had established many colonies as well as rivals in the New World. Most important was Britain s rivalry with France as it led to the Seven Year War. The war had drained the empire economically, causing it to place taxes on the colonies in the New World. In turn rebellions arose and led the colonies to declare independence. For the thirteen colonies the American Revolution began with its Declaration of Independence. The American Revolution was indeed a revolution, because its conclusion brought change. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally the colonists were represented. The second form of Republicanism is defined by perceiving the nation as an organic whole composed of people nobly sacrificed for the common good for an individual s pursuit of rational self interest . This form of republicanism depicts the idea of nationalism in the colonies. The creation of a nation created patriotic pride within the colonies and a sense of equality. This was a change in value because the colonist were initially subjects of the king and now every colonist is a citizen and equal. Lastly, the third form of Republican government was more liberal since men who advanced towards this form wanted government to respond directly to the needs of ordinary folk, rejecting any notion that the lesser sort should automatically defer to their betters . This shows how common people had gained a say in government through voting. This is a change in value because before the colonist didn t have a say in the parliament. The American Revolution was a political revolution because it resulted with change in the way government was organized. In May 1776, before the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the Second Continental Congress met and decided to create a constitution before creating a new government. The creation of the constitution placed limitations on the fundamental structure of the government. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Roles Of Auditing And Assurance Services Introduction The role accounting firms played in the last financial crisis raised questions about the legitimacy of auditing and assurance services. Auditors, who are considered independent and are supposed to provide reliable information to financial statement users, played a major part in the financial institutions crisis. The role of auditing is not to stop management from making poor business decisions, but it is to make sure that those decisions are properly disclosed (Rapoport, 2010). However, auditors failed to fulfill that role while auditing some of the largest financial institutions, which led to a huge financial meltdown during the first decade of the 21st Century. One example where auditors independence raised question is when the Ernest Young auditors allowed Lehman Brothers to use the off balance sheet financing method to hide its leverage. Ernest Young helped Lehman Brothers, a company they audited for many years, to mislead investors about the company s financial position which eventually led to its collapse. Audit Deficiencies External auditors could have prevented the collapse of large financial institutions by being more skeptical and exercising professional due care while servicing their clients. In many cases, auditors failed to obtain sufficient evidence supporting key assumption of management asset valuations, asset ownerships or the use of accounting estimates. Ernst Young failed to exercise professional due care while auditing Lehman Brothers. Lehman Brothers used Repo 105 transactions that a British law firm approved for them to make its balance sheet look better and Ernst Young agreed to the accounting management applied to these transactions without actually examining any of the Repo 105 transactions. Carrots! the expressed struggle between Anne and Gilbert is seen in full.(McDougall Sullivan, 1985) A second after he said carrots Anne stands up and yells How dare you? while breaking a chalk slate over his head. (McDougall Sullivan, 1985) Gilbert immediately took the blame when Anne was being punished by the teacher, and after school apologizes to her. He did not realize that what he meant as an attention grabber would only gain him hate. Now Anne could have accepted his apology and they could have gone on being friends, but Anne saw no way to do that. The pain from his remark left her numb to knowing how to forgive him. • 9. Nike Case Analysis At the moment Nike has the upper hand over other corporations allowing for significant economic advancements. Conversely, it is important that Nike does not only use these initiatives as advertising ploys but rather actually continues to make real change around the world. There is a significant amount of opportunity here for Nike to pressure other corporations and even governments into acting against climate change and towards better social conditions (JASP, 2016). Nevertheless, because of how much global influence Nike hold, they have the potential to do much more than that. The corporation could work with various organizations, academic programs and NGOs in order to do more research into what the most ideal conditions are and what kinds of needs need to be addressed to better the overall social, economic and environmental conditions in which the production processes is occurring (JASP, 2016). Furthermore, while Nike was inspired by ethnic consumers, so can it promote ethnic consumption to those who might not have originally considered these issues whilst purchasing these or even other commodities (JASP, 2016). The fear at the moment, however, is that Nike is only in it for the money. During the boycott of the 1990s, Nike could have avoided the crisis through acting sooner and recognizing the inequalities in their corporation though they chose instead to ignore their demands (Jackson and Schantz, 1993, 32). All of Randy s sorties and jokes were easy to understand and direct. Something that Pausch did that was very creative was his use of foreshadowing. The photo of him and his siblings on the Alice ride at Disney as a child connected well with the program he designed later in life as a professor. Furthermore, he made that it apparent to his audience that may not have originally seen the connection by stating it was a foreshadowing moment. By leaving the story open ended until a later time in his lecture, he captured the interest of people who didn t know him prior by intriguing them with a mystery. Then to people who did understand, it was a fun and heartwarming connection. The point of using foreshadowing and other organization techniques is to keep the brain occupied and attentive. Pausch does an excellent job of this. Despite Pausch s tragic diagnosis, the man stands strong with a positive outlook on life. His ability to be realistic about his condition commands respect while his lightheartedness gives shows us that he is at peace with his fate. • 14. Free Speech Importance The right to free speech is deemed important in the lives of many people. This importance of the right to free speech does not only apply democratic countries such as the United States of America, but also for the people fighting to have their voices heard. There are many places within our world where people do not have the right to share their own voice and ideas. Throughout the world, people s voices are oppressed and silenced simply because their ideas may differ from the rules of the powerful. Although a power may claim that their people are without a voice, many still stand up and make their voices heard to bring change to the lives of not only themselves, but also the lives of others. The use of speech has the power to unify and bring change throughout the world. The United States of America was built upon this need for change, seeking freedom from whom they believed oppressed them. This importance of the right to free speech is seen within the first American Amendment. The First Amendment protects religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition . The First Amendment protects the American people, allowing for the expression of all ideas and opinions without the risk of being silenced. The right to free speech within the First Amendment protects our liberty both to express and be exposed to ideas and opinions, especially unpopular one. It covers all forms of communication . This protection of the free right of speech is what makes the United States and other countries like it special. People have the right and the opportunity to express their own ideas, even when they are unpopular. • 15. Jean Jacques Rousseau And Mary Wollstonecraft The Age of Enlightenment began in the late 17th century and had some key ideas developed by education innovators that changed the way that society views children and education. Many of these ideas stem from the revolutionary work of Jean Jacques Rousseau and Mary Wollstonecraft. This essay will discuss the main ideas from their work and also how it is reflected in other work during the Age of Enlightenment for educationalists such as Johann Pestalozzi and Robert Owen. The final aspect of this essay will discuss how these ideas are reflected in early New Zealand education and the system. Jean Jacques Rousseau s ideas about children and education were both admired and criticised widely. He was regarded as a foundational thinker on education (May, 2013, p.32). Ideas of his that were praised and inspired other people s work included encouraging infants to be unrestricted and roam free in the environment. During the time of Rousseau s work, children were swaddled to prevent bones and muscles from becoming deformed. Rousseau believed that it would be beneficial for children to have some freedom and interact with the surroundings of the environment. This is thought to be extremely beneficial for their learning and development. Rousseau also had a view that male education should be superior to female education. He believed that females should be educated to become good mothers and wives. Females should be supported by their husbands. These skills would be taught to them by their ... (Organic Debate, 2014) As organic foods have been growing rapidly in the last 20 years there has been a lot of talking about whether or not organic foods are healthy. As people today have been eating a lot more of organic foods they are having arguments stating that organic food is not what they say on the labels. Although people think that organic food is not what the farmers say it is, it still helps people with there health and provides a healthier lifestyle. In order to maintain the apparent understanding of organic food buying behaviors of consumers, it can be helpful to examine the effect of motivating factors on both the attitude towards organic foods and the intention to buy organic foods together with the mediation effect of attitude towards organic foods (Cabuk, 2014). • 17. Essay On Should Police Wear Body Cameras Over the past year there have been many situations between police officers and civilians that we don t exactly know what happened because it someone s word over another. In August 2014, an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown, was shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Some witnesses confirmed the police officer s claim that he shot the teenager under self defense. While others claimed that the victim posed no threat to the officer and that the shooting was uncalled for. The result of this was that the police officer wasn t charged with a crime. If that officer had been wearing a body camera, while he was on duty, we could see with our own eyes if Michael Brown was threatening to the officer or if the shooting was unjustified. Police officers should wear body cameras while on duty because the cameras would hold police accountable to their actions, prevent violence, and would improve the public s perspective on police officers. To begin with, if police officers wore body cameras they would hold them accountable for their actions. The article of Should Police wear Body Cameras, explained that body cameras say that they ... Allowing student access to technology could grow and prepare them for the college arena. With the growing issues of utilizing technology more main stream in education, school districts should ensure for student safety and implementation of technology. Tablets are replacing our textbooks, and we can research just about anything that we want to on our smartphones (Cox (n.d.) para.1). Due to the ethical concern, majority of schools have adapted the use of I pads in the classroom over the use of personal smartphones. Teachers implemented district issued technology lessens the safety concerns of use in the classroom. Sites intended for implement have already received approval for use by the district, and then closely monitored by the instructor. However, due to the student teacher ratio, teachers still may have a blind eye to what students are doing on these devices. It is up to that teacher to set regulations for using a computer before admission of use can began. There is a solution to this disadvantage with the usage of technology. We used the term My Brother s keeper , we hold each other accountable for our actions with the use of technology. Summer Day Descriptive Writing It was a gorgeous summer day. the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the world was at peace on the seemingly carefree sunday afternoon. church had just ended and the children ran fast and free ready to play. They ran two and twelve towards the town s lake to go swimming, in order to ward off the heat of the noon sun. They stampeded through town bumping over numerous people and even one another to reach the cool blue waves. The menacing multitude took a sharp turn from the street to an old dusty road. The trees shook in the evening breeze and swayed slightly further when the children hurried by. Dust faintly clouded out the light that poured over the path. Finally they reached the dock and began to take off and swap clothes. The boys took off their shirts and pants and swam in their underwear, while the girls chose to go behind some nearby bushes.and exchange out their attire. When everyone was in they started to splash one another while laughing and shouting. A few of them dived under the water to search for fish and other sea life. When they came back, up two of them had seaweed, one held a starfish, and two others had a crab holding it by both sides. It was getting a little later in the day, but the kids were not quite yet ready to leave their fun to rest. • 22. Global Economic Development As A Trade Policy Essay Global economic development as a trade policy However, would the idea of mercantilists who emphasize the only national benefits, productivity, or competitiveness fit to the current globalised world? Krugman (1996) denies the idea of mercantilism as they do not fully understand the meaning of comparative advantage. Comparative Advantage is an economic law made by David Richard in 1817 who expanded Adam Smith s Wealth of Nations. Comparative Advantage law encourages free trade that stimulate market competition and industry specialization to a country to export. As the scale of economy works in specialization, it would make production of goods more efficient and thereby reduces the aggregate cost within the framework. Therefore all the citizen could receive the benefit (Todaro 2014). With this Comparative Advantage law, the global partnership has introduced the change of norm in the trading. World Trade Organisation, for example, has been trying to create the global framework of free trading since the time of its predecessor the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). GATT was founded to establish an orderly and transparent framework within which barriers to trade could be gradually reduced, and international trade thereby expanded (Healy et al. 1998). Although this framework treated all members as equal as possible (Most Favoured Nation (MFN) principle), some exceptions and waivers were prepared with the acknowledgment of circumstances in developing countries, ... Chinese Americans And Filipino Americans With all the discord going on around the word today, it is quite easy for us to forget that at the end of the day, we are very much similar to each other. When we hear of the Chinese Americans and Filipino Americans living in America today, not often do we see a connection between the two except for the fact that they come from Asia or have descendants from Asia. If we dive deeper into history, we will see that when the Chinese and the Filipinos first came to America, they had very similar purposes and goals in mind; one of them being make money and go back home. They were both determined to work hard for a country quite foreign to them but both were also targeted as the other side and a majority of them suffered from ill treatments like assault and blatant discrimination. Before the Chinese began to immigrate to America, China had previously lived in isolation from the rest of the world for a while after Zheng He s voyages in the 15th century allowed the Chinese to receive confirmation that they were much more advanced than any other group at that time. However, China still participated in the Manila Galleon Trade with Mexico until the 1800s in which Chinese goods such as silk, ivory and porcelain were exchanged for silver. Dreams are just as undiscovered as sleep. There are many observations made about dreams and what parts of the brain are utilized during these inter sleep hallucinations. Sleep and dreams, although strange and without apparent purpose, reveal many things about an individual, his or her habits, and potentially innermost subconscious thoughts. Despite the unanswered questions and the unknown factors behind sleep and dreams, there are many theories behind their purposes. Many popular sleep theories have to do with keeping out body and mind in top shape. Some examples of sleep theories are: protection, recuperation, memory restoration, and growth. Homer goes on to describe how as Apollo was considering how to acquire these followers, he took notice of a passing ship on the sea full of Cretan sailors. Intercepting them on their journey, Apollo transformed into a dolphin and lept upon their boat, and caused the ship to shake with his mighty power. The sailors, unrecognizing of the god, became fearful and followed the powerful wind that lead them to Crisa. Once upon the shore, Apollo revealed his true and mighty form to the sailors installing an awesome fear in each of them (278) and they rejoiced in serving him. With the aid of Apollo, the sailors all became initiated so they may devote themselves to the practices and worship of Apollo. Native Americans past and present continue to face stifling issues such as racism, alcoholism, isolation and suicide. Sherman Alexie makes it his obligation in his stories and poems to show Native American resiliency through humor. By using his characters to show resiliency through humor Alexie presents humor as an integral part of Native American survival. In Sherman Alexie s best work to date The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven humor allows his characters to display strength, hide weakness, to expose prejudice, avoid realities and to create bonds (Coulombe, 94). I believe Alexie s humor engages readers creating positive connections between individuals of diverse backgrounds and disrupts tension between racial communities. Humor is often defined by its fluidity, its paradoxes and its ability to surprise (Coulombe, 95). Humor teaches self knowledge and social awareness. Alexie s use of humor encourages readers to think anew by creating a space of shared inquiry and reciprocal empathy. • 31. Moralism In The Movie High Noon High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950 s, shines light on the true nature of one standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced to give names of others who they thought were communists or else they would be punished. If the communist actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other s careers. Some of the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn t want to risk their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture s main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He s asked by the townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone. High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone. Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having.
