United States Northern Command ( Usnorthcom )
The threat environment has expanded from a strategic, nuclear, symmetrical threat from bombers,
ICBMs, and air or sea launched cruise missiles, to a continuing symmetrical threat in addition to an
emergent asymmetric threat, focused across all domains, borders and agencies. Accordingly, our
political leaders recognized a need to transform the military for a new home game . United States
Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) was established to assume responsibility for the defence of the
US homeland, and this new Command was tasked to provide military assistance to civil authorities
(MACA).

Mapp Vs. Ohio State
Mapp vs. Ohio State(1961) Background: In the Mapp vs Ohio state court case, the issue disputed was
when the appellant Dollree Mapp was convicted of possessing obscene materials after an illegal police
search of her home for a fugitive. During the year of 1961, Ohio police were looking for a criminal
accused of a bombing and had been told that he was hiding in Dollree Mapp s house. Police acted
quickly and came to her house but when she didn t answer the door, police officers forced themselves
inside. Dollree demanded to see the police s search warrant once having spoken to her attorney but
police didn t have one so they held a piece of paper to disguise that it was a warrant when it really
wasn t. Dollree grabbed the paper and when trying to read it, she was then handcuffed on the ground
and police continued to search her house (Landmark cases). During the search, officers found
pornography and other materials that were against Ohio State law in her basement. As a result, Dollree
was arrested, found guilty, and sentenced to 1 to 7 years in the Ohio Women s Reformatory. Dollree
felt that justice was unfair so she consulted with her attorney. She appealed her conviction on the basis
of freedom of expression (Oyez). Dollree s lawyers argued to the Supreme Court of Ohio that she
should never have been brought to trial because the material evidence resulted from an illegal
(warrantless) search and how it was illegally obtained. In its ruling, the Supreme Court of Ohio

Why The US Needs An Official Language Summary
In the article Why the U.S. Needs an Official Language, author Mauro E. Mujica talks about the
importance of the US having an official language. The author provides many statistics to persuasive
the audience that there are so many costs associated with the US not having an official language.
According to the author, there are two main arguments why the US should have an official language.
One of the arguments is that multilingualism is something that has a very high cost. The second reason
is that the author believes that the lack of an official language is causing a lot of divide amongst the
Americans.
In this essay the target audience are the people around the world, but she mainly focus on the people
who currently living in America. According to the author, the American government is spending
billions of dollars in taxpayers money to provide education in a multilingual setting as well as research

Controversial Essay
How do we determine the worth of a life? Is each life valued uniquely? When it comes to life, where
do we draw the lines between sympathy and justice? Did you know? Every 25 minutes, a baby is born
suffering from opioid withdrawal. Do we punish drug addicted women giving birth to emotionally and
medically unstable babies; and if so, how? Many people also think that if we punish the women, than
the fathers of these children should be subsequently punished as well. This is a topic of controversy in
its truest form. Get this 23.5 million Americans are addicted to alcohol and drugs. That s

Techniques and Their Effects- the Truman Show
The Truman Show In the film The Truman Show , directed by Peter Weir, many techniques are
strategically used to position the audience to respond emotionally to Truman Burbank. Techniques
such as lighting, music, camera shots and angles are used in three specific scenes throughout the film
co ordinated by the shows director Christof. He uses these techniques to encourage the show s
audience to believe that what they are watching is unscripted and real. The first scene Introducing
Truman Day 10,909 is an example of one of these scenes as it uses techniques to introduce to the
audience Truman s world as one that is cheerful, happy and bright. As Truman gets ready for his day at
work the scene has bright lighting and the costumes are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Truman does not walk into his workplace the show s audience respond with excitement and a
sense of pride. High angle tracking shots are used as cameras follow Truman and his every step,
unable to anticipate his next move. The reverse shot in the side mirror of a car closely follow Truman
and as several people obstruct the view it appears as if Truman is trying to get away and disappear
from the scrutiny of the cameras. Truman tentatively surveys the area and for the first time listens to
conversations around him. Close up shots of several conversations position the audience to also
question those around Truman. These techniques used position the audience to respond with
enthusiasm and delight towards Truman and his suspicions about the world he lives in. It is no longer
seen as perfect. In the third scene Truman s Dad Returns , the atmosphere is depressing and dark as
Truman finally realises what is happening. The lighting is bright and happy as the police return Meryl
and Truman to their home. Meryl reflects this bright lighting with her smile and belief that she is in
control of the situation. Whereas Truman is slouched over in his chair provoking the audience to feel
sorry for his sadness and his dark and gloomy expression. When the camera focuses back on Meryl,
however the audience is positioned to feel enlightened by her smile and positive attitude. As Truman

The Incident Rates Of Men With Cancer Black Men Essay
As stated previously in 2014 the USA had approximately 20.3 million people who were diagnosed
with cancer. When exploring the 2013 incident rates of men with cancer black men had an incident
rate of 518. Compared to white men of 473.9, next came Hispanic and Asian; black males had the
highest death rate among all races (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016b). In regards to
women, white women had an incident rate of 417.4, followed by blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, but
the highest death rate is among black women (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016b).
According to the statistics the needs for increased screening and care is needed in the African
American and Hispanic community.

The Influence Of Enlightenment On American Life
The Enlightenment was a European based intellectual movement centered in France. However, the
Enlightenment did reach America and was influential to American life. The Enlightenment stressed
reason and rationality in understanding and remaking the world. Enlightenment thinkers believed that
the universe could be ordered, foretold, and condensed into laws. The Enlightenment also stressed that
change and improvement was possible for individuals and society alike. Enlightenment thinkers
considered themselves to be philosophers and lovers of wisdom. People who believed in
Enlightenment ideas would have not strongly believed in God or that God had any intervention in the
world. This led to Enlightenment philosophers, such as Isaac Newton, to see

Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter
The bond between a husband and wife can be so strong sometimes and the two stories To My Dear
Loving Husband and Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter show how much each spouse loves each
other. Although, each one talks about the love towards one another they both have different ways of
expressing it. Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter was written during the civil wars time so it was
more based on that, while To My Dear Loving Husband was written way back in 1641.
The most obvious difference is the fact that one shows the perspective of a woman while the other
tells a story from a man s perspective. The letter is written by a guy in the army to his wife and kids.
He talks more about how he loves the Country so much that he is willing to die for it. The major does
not really mind the fact that he is about to die and leave his family behind. Instead he tells his wife and
kids to stay strong and that he will always be there for them. In contrast, the poem talks about how the
women values her husband s love and how he is such an idol. She would put her husband before
anything and anyone. Just by reading the poem people are able to tell how much this women respects
and loves her husband.Although they both love their families, one is willing to give up his life and
abandon them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

him. On the other hand, the letter is referring to one person, his wife. The letter just talks about how he
wants his wife to learn how to live without him. The poem talks just about a husband, while the letter

Capitalism And Neoliberalism
Throughout history, the concept of politics has reduced through many centuries. Since the beginning
of time the implementation of governance has been a recurring question. Globally, there are different
ideologies and political systems that our citizens must follow. One major concept from the the
ideology Neoliberalism is Globalization which impacts our society in ways that many do not see.
Another ideology that affects our society is the concept of Capitalism. All aspects of Politics affects
the role and nature of the state as we know it today. Neoliberalism is an ideology that express a means
for a free market economy. A free market economy is an economy that those who have access to, can
take part in. As stated before, Globalization is a subheading of Neoliberalism. The concept of
globalization is to unify the globe into one, so that society can run smoother. Globalization, comes
with the concept of a global village. The three components of this village are an open market, society,
and technology. An open market is the free movement of goods and services. This feature of the
village allows for new ideas and creations to be introduced to our society. An open society is the
collapsing of national boundaries with the free movement of people. The free movement of people
brings on new nationalities and languages which makes us very diverse. Lastly, open technology is
that anyone can use the free market. This concept of the village gives those who can, access to the free

6.3 Amyloid Theory
6.3 Amyloid theory The most commonly supported hypothesis for the cause of AD relates to a protein
expressed in many cells, of unknown function and implicated in familial AD due to mutations in the
gene that code for it(Wisniewski, Wisniewski Wen 1985). Although its function is not completely
understood, amyloid precursor protein (APP) is suggested to be critical for neuron growth(Turner et
al. 2003, Vasto et al. 2008, Priller et al. 2006), signalling, and may also function as an
antioxidant(Crouch 2007) and a metalloprotein, modulating copper transport and metabolism(Turner
et al. 2003, Priller et al. 2006, Kong et al. 2007). The parent protein, the 695 770 amino acid APP, in
most cell types undergoes the non amyloidogenic pathway. Cleavage of the APP protein can occur at
many sites within the cell, including the trans Golgi network, ... Show more content on

The amyloidogenic version of the pathway involves cleavage by secretase followed by the secretase
(see figure 6), releasing the 40 43 amino acid amyloid beta (A) peptide, thought to cause the
neurodegenerative disease(Selkoe 2001, Findeis 2007). The enzymatic action of secretase leaves a C
terminal fragment known as APP CTF or
C99, within the membrane and releases APPs into the extracellular space. After A peptide generation
by secretase from the C99 fragment, the A peptide is extracellularly secreted(Rogaeva et al. 2007).
Most of the A peptides produced are 40 amino acids long, however it is thought in the diseased state
the usual 10% of A peptide production increases, causing havoc within the cell and the surrounding
environment(Vasto et al. 2008). This longer form

Wireless Networks And Network For Future Of Mobile...
Every day the wireless communication is getting more advanced comparing to what is was yesterday.
Every generation of mobile communication get advanced with a higher speed, frequency band, better
connectivity, security and high data rates in transmission. For all these reasons, it s clear how the 4G is
success more than the 3G networks, and the same thing will happen to the 4G after lunching the 5G in
the near future. In this paper, I will try to describe the 4G networks and 5G networks in contest of
future of mobile communications. What are their drawbacks and what are the main differences
between these different generations along with the issues that make the new network take over that
network.
2 Background:
A look back in the history, the first generation of telephony (1G) started in the early of 1980s. This
network was designed to carry analog voice data. The (1G) networks were based on these standard
TACS, NMT, C Nets and AMPS. In the early of 1990s the (2G) networks came as a digital network
comparing to the analog in (1G). That was the first digital cellular network after the switches that were
supported digital calls by using actual 0s and 1s. The (2G) networks were supported by these
standards D AMPS, Code Division Multiple Access One (CDMAOne) and Global System of Mobile
Communication (GSM). The second generation of telephony (2G) was offered a higher capacity,
improved security and improved the voice quality. The (2G) technology was offered a

Computer Security and Data Encryption
DRM is a technology that protects digital content via encryption and the access control mechanisms
that allow a user to view the digital content. In general, to control what we can and can t do with the
media and hardware we ve purchased. 1. Historical perspective of DRM The practices of copyright
protection and DRM have been around since decades ago. In fact, when the Altair BASIC was first
introduced in 1975, the Homebrew Computer Club (a computer hobbyists club) member made
unauthorized copies of Altair basic software and distributed them at the club meeting. At that time,
MITS Company licensed the software from Micro soft (now Microsoft). Although MITS has been
selling thousand computers a month, Micro Soft wasn t getting much royalty fees since basic copies
have been distributed illegally. This led to the famous open letter open letter to hobbyists by Bill Gates
which he expressed his frustrations towards the hobbyists. In the letter, he said As the majority of
hobbyists must be aware, most of you steal your software. Hardware must be paid for, but software is
something to share. Who cares if the people who worked on it get paid? Is this fair? But the first
implementation of DRM only came about in 1983 by Japanese Engineer Ryoichi Mori and it was
implemented in Software Service System (SSS) which is later redefined as Superdistribution. The
main focus of SSS was to protect the unauthorized copying by encryption. The SSS would include a

How Social Control Theory Affects Criminal Behavior
How Social Control Theory and Life Course Theory effect criminal behavior Mason Campbell Barge
900259391 University of North Georgia Criminology 11/17/14 How Social Control Theory and Life
Course Theory effect criminal behavior Social control theory and life course theory focus on people s
lives and how they interact with one another. The basic idea of the life course theory is that people s
life experiences, both good and bad, determine what kind of person that they will be later in life. This
does not mean that just because a person who had a good childhood, lived in a wealthy home, and had
good parents, will continue to be a good person. The same can be said for people who had a bad
childhood. Children who got in fights and disrespected authority figures may not continue to do that
later on in life. A life course theorist would say this is because there are turning points in these people
s lives that they go through. These turning points cause a person to change their current life course
(Siegel, 2013, p. 305). For example a teenage boy who, regularly attends school, stays active in his
community, and has good grades, decides to celebrate his success by smoking marijuana and drinking
alcohol with some friends. The police show up and arrest the young man for drug possession and
underage drinking. Now the young man has a criminal record and waste some of his time in jail. He
loses his scholarships, the trust of his community, and the respect of his parents. This

The Veto And Veto Legislation
The Constitution gives the President the authority to veto legislation passed by Congress. This power
is significant for the president because it gives him the power to prevent the passage of legislation.
The president doesn t even have to use the veto. The President warning of a veto can bring changes in
the details of the legislation before the bill is presented to the President. The Constitution gives the
President 10 days (not including Sundays) to act on legislation or the legislation automatically
becomes law. There are two types of vetoes: the regular veto and the pocket veto. The regular veto is a
qualified negative veto. The President returns the unsigned legislation to the originating house of
Congress within a 10 day period usually with a message of disapproval. Congress can, however,
override the President s decision if it has the necessary two thirds vote of each house. The pocket veto
is a veto that cannot be overridden. The veto becomes effective when the President fails to sign a bill
after Congress has adjourned and is unable to override the veto. The authority of the pocket veto is
derived from the Constitution, the Congress by their adjournment prevent its return, in which case, it
shall not be law. Congress and the President have argued over the use of the pocket veto. The
President has attempted to use the pocket veto during inter session adjournments and Congress has
frowned upon this use of the veto. The Legislative Branch states that the

minority races: that they are lazy, not hard working, cannot speak our language, amongst other things.
It is now a common occurrence to come across a video on the internet of racists yelling at these
minority people for being in this country and other senseless reasons. These stereotypes, however,
have existed long before the time of Donald Trump being sworn into office, and people have been
fighting them the entire time. Latina professor and author Carmen R ... Show more content on

Potassium is important in cell metabolism and helps to reduce heart problems and stroke. The
carotenoids, including beta carotene, especially in the yellow and orange fleshed bananas, are essential
in protecting against Vitamin A deficiency and anemia (since Vitamin A is involved in iron
metabolism). Carotenoids rich food also protects the human body against diabetes, heart disease and
cancers (Nelson et al., 2006;Wall, 2006).
Bananas are excellent sources of antioxidants such as Vitamin A, B and C, carotenoids namely lutein,
α carotene and β carotene (Wall, 2006), and phenolic compounds such as catechin, epicatechin, lignin
and tannins as well as anthocyanins (Lim et al., 2006;Sulaiman et al., 2010).
Banana is rich in starch and the foremost components are amylose and amylopectin. Sugars are
present as 1.3% in total dry matter in unripe ones and rises up to 17% in ripe ones. (Wall, 2006).
Dietary fibers are also found abundantly in bananas which trap excess cholesterol in the colon and
hence reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and artherosclerosis. Pectin, a soluble hydrocolloid
fiber, can also help normalize movement through the digestive tract and ease constipation (Bazzano et

The Pros And Cons Of Dream Massage
A woman employee was recently hired at Dream Massage as a massage therapist. Dream Massage
classified the employee as an independent contractor but treats her as a regular employee. Dream
massage administers a fixed schedule, provides all clientele, provides all massage products, and
requires her to follow all policies in accordance with Dream Massage. As an independent contractor,
there are no tax withholdings, and you receive no employee benefits. On her first day of work, Dream
Massage stated she could not wear her hijab due to violating the company dress code. In this instance,
Dream Massage has violated the Civil Rights Act.
Employee or Contractor
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) is a federal statute of the United States established in the year
1938 ( Compliance Assistance Wages and The Fair Labor Standards Act (flsa) , 2017). This act
introduced a forty hour work week, overtime pay at time and a half, a national minimum wage of 7.75,
and certain limitations when it comes to employing a minor ( Compliance Assistance Wages and The
Fair Labor Standards Act (flsa) , 2017). Knowing whether an employment relationship exists with
your workers or if they are an independent contractor is crucial for business. It is important to know
the difference as different laws and requirements apply to each classification. Generally, you must
withhold income taxes, withhold and pay Social Security and Medicare taxes, and pay unemployment
tax on wages paid to an employee. You do not

The Civil Rights Act Did Not Happen Over Night
The Civil Rights Act did not happen over night; however, many fought for it and soon prevailed.
During John F Kennedy s presidency the Civil Rights Act was begun. The bill was called for by
President John F. Kennedy address of the nation on June 11, 1963. The President gave a speech asking
for a law giving all Americans the right to be served in all places which are open to the public Motels,
restaurants, movies, clothing stores, as well as the right to vote . President Kennedy made this speech
after protests from the Black community about how they were being mistreated, the most current
being the Birmingham campaign which ended in May 1963. There were many factors to the civil
rights act of 1964 from presidents to normal civilians . In today s society the Civil Rights Act is
allowing equal opportunities for everyone. The Civil Rights was not just an act it was a movement
fought for almost twenty years. Starting in 1948 with Truman s executive order 9981 that gave
equality in the military (infoplease.com, Brunner). Then in 1054 the case of Brown versus Board of
Education of Topeka, Kansas, was finalized with the decision that segregation within public schools
was wrong. In august of 1955 the tragedy of Emmett Till occurred, where he was brutally murdered.
There are many more effects of the Civil Rights act, but these were some of the turning points.
Truman s Executive order was filed during world war two when all men were being drafted

Quadratic Formula Research Paper
Completing the square is use to prove the quadratic formula. Given ax^2+bx+c=0 we first have to
make the coefficient of x^2 to be one. We divided the original formula by a: x^2+b/c x+c/a=0/a since
0/a we still have our quadratic equation. Subtract that c/a in both sides: x^2+b/c x+c/a c/a= c/a
remember that b/a is b/2(a) now we will have to add it to the root of two: x^2+b/a x+b^2/(4a^2
)=b^2/(4a^2 ) c/a next is to set up our denominators to be the same we should have
(x+b/2a)^2=b^2/(4a^2 ) 4ac/(4a^2 ) now that our denominators are the same we need to combine like
terms: (b^2 4ac)/(4a^2 ) in this step it resembles somewhat a part of the quadratic formula but we still
missing more steps. Now grab the x+b/2a and subtract the b/2a also put the ... Show more content on

Writing the y intercept in interval notation is [15/8,∞). The axis of symmetry has been found also
which is where the x of the vertex is meaning that it is x=1/4. We will now find where does it
increases and decreases, this should be easy now that we have our vertex and knowledge that all
quadratic equations are parabolas. We know that the domain is ( ∞,∞) any line coming from the
negative side it will decrease while the positive side will increase. Then the side that is decreasing will
stop to decrease at ( ∞,1/4), it will then begin to increase at (1/4,∞). This time we are finding the x and
y intercept, beginning with the x intercept we are going to use the discriminant of the quadratic
equation which is b^2 4ac. Plugging the numbers, it will be ( 1)^2 4(2)(2) the solution will be a
negative fifteen. The rule of a discriminant is that there cannot be negative numbers for x, this time
there are no x intercept. the x intercept does not exist we will replace it with a zero so the y intercept
can be found, by plugging the numbers y=2(0)^2 0+2 we will have the answer of y=2. The quadratic
equation will be crossing the y intercept at (0,2). Now writing the

Medusa
The myth of Medusa is one of the most told myths throughout history. It seems like a simple idea of
how society perceives ugliness. The myth may be saying that truly hideous people deserved the
monstrous things that are coming to them, yet there is more to the story and image of this woman.
People have to look into what happened to her that society perceives her as hideous.Society has to
think about whose fault was it for her becoming a monster. People should look into the true meaning
of Medusa. Medusa has a strong impact on Greek society mythology too? with her features, the colors
of those features, her gender, and the power she held. Her image and myth is ... Show more content on

There are some images that one can use to show Medusa, so it depends on what one wants to talk
about. The image I picked is of Medusa s head cut off on a shield (Gill, N.S.). The problem here is that
Medusa does not look that ugly. In most pictures, Medusa just looks like a beautiful woman who has
snake for her hair. It seems strange that society and history remember her as ugly. One reason is
because of the snakes in her hair. Images show that her hair is full of many snakes. On her head, is
looks to be multiple kinds of snake. Some snakes look to be dice snakes, Natrix Tessellate, which are
venomous snakes found in Europe (McLaren, John). People hate snakes and fear them. In many
cultures such as Christianity, snakes are evil. Satan took the form of one in the Garden of Eve to
seduce Adam and Eve to commit sin. It works and mankind is driven out of the Garden forever ( Are
snakes evil? Does the Bible say anything about snakes? ). The image of a snake makes many shiver in
fear of it. Most of the Greek myths show snakes in a distrustful manner. Most of Ancient Greek
believed that snakes were liars and intelligent, but not to trust them.
Medusa is an important goddess used a lot in Greek female myths. In Greek myths, her hair which is
of snakes can show the symbolism of snakes. Snakes were said to have shown the natural cycle of
birth, death, and rebirth. In Greek myths the shedding of their skins and by getting new skin it shows
rebirth. The shredding of the snakes

Duality In A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange Duality as the ultimate reality
Harriet McLean
Goodness is something to be chosen. When a man cannot choose he ceases to be a man. Anthony
Burgess disturbing yet confrontational novel A Clockwork Orange entices it s audience, demanding
them to question strong controversial social issues comprising of the right of free will, the
fundamental need for commitment in human life regarding the consequences of apathy and neutrality
and the corruption and manipulation of the government. This twisted but simply marvelous dystopian
novel creates a conflicting debate within yourself between morality and the connections you form with
these sadistic characters. Regardless of the controversial themes present in this dark comedy, I am
undoubtedly certain that A Clockwork Orange demands to be read by a diverse audience and
unquestionably deserves to be regarded as one of the 100 greatest novels written. ... Show more

technique used on Alex by the government in an attempts to brainwash him into being a model citizen
. Effectively, this denies him the opportunity to be a moral agent and freely have the choice between
what is right and what is morally wrong. Thus Burgess opens the debate of freedom against invoked

Defining Art Essay
As an artist I constantly find myself bombarded with the question of What is exactly art? Normally I
m a person who can answer any question with ease, but this one caught me off guard. So I began
thinking to myself what is exactly art? I didn t really have an answer to that right away. So after more
thought I realized that art is anything you want it to be. Art isn t merely a drawing or a painting. Art is
how you express yourself when words aren t enough. Art can be a memory caught in time. Art can be
the sounds or lyrics you hear of everyday music. I finally realized to me art was an expression and a
whole other language. Art is creating something to become attached to. Art is the company that keeps
you inspired and constantly striving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

s no such thing as good or bad art. It s just what you want your viewer to understand or see from the
picture. It s anything that expresses your feelings or imagination. Art is breathing life into something
you create. It s like your child that you cradle in your arms and to nurse it to life. To create a body, to
give it flesh and bone and breathe life into its shadowed eyes and form a personality through
expression, this cannot be done from nothing. It s created from the very paint of your soul, the
material expression of your feelings. It s derived from the very being of you. You are the God of your
own work; you gave it a beating heart. It helps you purge the soul of your feeling all the bad and good.
It can create a lovely piece of art or something dark and terrible depicting. Art has numerous purposes
to many people. Some use it as a hobby to experiment with media. Others have a way of using it for
commercial purposes. Back in the day it was used to tell a story. To some it s a form of entertainment.
It s to make people happy and put a smile on faces. To others

The Effect Of Detrital Zircon Dating On South Australia
Introduction
With the use of detrital zircon dating, and minor use of authigenic monazite dating, estimations of age
constraints can be applied to the Proterozoic basins on the south Australian island, Tasmania. Zircon
minerals occur as a trace component in many sedimentary rocks. Therefore due to its widespread
occurrence and its relative resistance to both mechanical and chemical weathering, which enhances its
chance of survival through processes of transportation, dating methods through zircon minerals have
become a standard for dating sedimentary basins (Black et al).
The Rocky Cape Group of northwest Tasmania provides an insight into the record of the passive
margin sedimentation and has the potential to constrain Tasmania s position historically within the
meso neoproterozoic supercontinent reconstructions (Halpin).
A number of studies have been conducted such as Black et al (2004) Berry et al (2008) and Halpin et
al (2014), mainly on the Western Tasmanian Terrane, in an effort to constrain a position in past
supercontinent amalgamations and to challenge the hypothesis of many supercontinent models such as
SWEAT and AUSWUS that Tasmania was positioned in close proximity to the past North American
continent, Laurentia.
Geologic Setting
Tasmania
The geologic setting of Tasmania is characterized by Proterozoic sedimentary basins with varying
origins that outcrop predominetly in the north western regions of Tasmania. The depositional history
of Tasmania can be split

Gender And Gender Roles In William Shakespeare s Macbeth
In the early 17th century, William Shakespeare wrote a tragedy based on a patron, King James I, of his
acting company. The tragedy was Macbeth, and it was about a Scottish nobleman who committed
unimaginable acts for his own gain and benefit simply because of a prophecy. Shakespeare had
demolished the stereotypes given by society to men and women in that time period by creating his
characters to be the exact opposite of what was expected. This is evident in Macbeth s opinion of his
wife, Lady Macbeth s shocking personality and in the three witches mocking and dark nature. Gender
roles are significantly visible in Macbeth, specifically in Macbeth s opinion of his wife. Women were
considered to be the weaker sex and in need always of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that Macbeth takes it upon himself to inform Lady Macbeth that he thought it d be good to
tell her, simply shows us that Macbeth is quite thoughtful and caring towards his wife, especially in
areas where she, as the woman of the house, is expected to excel in, such as being the perfect hostess
for the king. The second part of the quote is quite significant, as Macbeth uses an unfamiliar term of
endearment that is strong and powerful. My dearest partner in greatness. (1.5.10)This title is
empowering and important because it tells the audience a lot about how Macbeth perceives his wife.
His opinion of her is quite high, and he clearly sees her as an equal. He addresses her with respect,
love and equality which was unexpected of a man in the 17th century. This term of endearment
expresses his views clearly and leaves the audience with no room for confusion, as it is extremely self
explanatory. In the 17th century, women had many roles to fill; however, the role to be the perfect,
obedient housewife was the most important one. Women s proper role in society... was largely limited
to the domestic sphere. According to the article, Status Of Women In 17th Century Neo Classical Age,
women were expected to always be controlled or owned by some sort of male authority,

The Theme Of Democracy In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
Heming Chen
American Literature
Ms. Crowl
1 December, 2017
I Could Be You
The word democracy has its roots in the ancient Greek combination of dēmos, meaning the people,
and kratía, meaning power or rule: literally translating as the rule or power of the people . To simplify
the term further, Democracy is an arrangement in which individuals have similar equality in power.
First conceptualized and adopted by the Athenians in fifth century B.C, democracy has made itself to
be known as a powerful and popular government model today, in use by over 60% of modern day
countries. Walt Whitman utilizes the theme of democracy in his poem, Song of Myself, not only
encouraging it as a system, but also as a way of life, seeking unity in all.
Although Whitman uses the seemingly singular pronoun I in his poems, he is not using the pronoun to
signify only himself but also the rest of humanity as a unified entity. Whitman opens his poem with
the words I celebrate myself, and sing myself, / And what I assume you shall assume, / For every atom
belonging to me as good belongs to you (1 3). The first line, its meaning initially seeming rather
cryptic, becomes more discernable once the universal I is employed. It then becomes evident that
Whitman is intending his poem to be a celebration of humankind. Interestingly enough, the usage of
sing in such context almost brings the reader back again to the classics, reminiscent of the epics of old.
While all definitions of assume apply for the

  • 3. Mapp Vs. Ohio State Mapp vs. Ohio State(1961) Background: In the Mapp vs Ohio state court case, the issue disputed was when the appellant Dollree Mapp was convicted of possessing obscene materials after an illegal police search of her home for a fugitive. During the year of 1961, Ohio police were looking for a criminal accused of a bombing and had been told that he was hiding in Dollree Mapp s house. Police acted quickly and came to her house but when she didn t answer the door, police officers forced themselves inside. Dollree demanded to see the police s search warrant once having spoken to her attorney but police didn t have one so they held a piece of paper to disguise that it was a warrant when it really wasn t. Dollree grabbed the paper and when trying to read it, she was then handcuffed on the ground and police continued to search her house (Landmark cases). During the search, officers found pornography and other materials that were against Ohio State law in her basement. As a result, Dollree was arrested, found guilty, and sentenced to 1 to 7 years in the Ohio Women s Reformatory. Dollree felt that justice was unfair so she consulted with her attorney. She appealed her conviction on the basis of freedom of expression (Oyez). Dollree s lawyers argued to the Supreme Court of Ohio that she should never have been brought to trial because the material evidence resulted from an illegal (warrantless) search and how it was illegally obtained. In its ruling, the Supreme Court of Ohio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter The bond between a husband and wife can be so strong sometimes and the two stories To My Dear Loving Husband and Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter show how much each spouse loves each other. Although, each one talks about the love towards one another they both have different ways of expressing it. Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter was written during the civil wars time so it was more based on that, while To My Dear Loving Husband was written way back in 1641. The letter is written by a guy in the army to his wife and kids. He talks more about how he loves the Country so much that he is willing to die for it. The major does not really mind the fact that he is about to die and leave his family behind. Instead he tells his wife and kids to stay strong and that he will always be there for them. In contrast, the poem talks about how the women values her husband s love and how he is such an idol. She would put her husband before anything and anyone. Since the beginning of time the implementation of governance has been a recurring question. Globally, there are different ideologies and political systems that our citizens must follow. One major concept from the the ideology Neoliberalism is Globalization which impacts our society in ways that many do not see. Another ideology that affects our society is the concept of Capitalism. All aspects of Politics affects the role and nature of the state as we know it today. Neoliberalism is an ideology that express a means for a free market economy. A free market economy is an economy that those who have access to, can take part in. As stated before, Globalization is a subheading of Neoliberalism. The concept of globalization is to unify the globe into one, so that society can run smoother. Globalization, comes with the concept of a global village. The three components of this village are an open market, society, and technology. An open market is the free movement of goods and services. This feature of the village allows for new ideas and creations to be introduced to our society. An open society is the collapsing of national boundaries with the free movement of people. • 16. 6.3 Amyloid Theory 6.3 Amyloid theory The most commonly supported hypothesis for the cause of AD relates to a protein expressed in many cells, of unknown function and implicated in familial AD due to mutations in the gene that code for it(Wisniewski, Wisniewski Wen 1985). Although its function is not completely understood, amyloid precursor protein (APP) is suggested to be critical for neuron growth(Turner et al. 2003, Vasto et al. 2008, Priller et al. 2006), signalling, and may also function as an antioxidant(Crouch 2007) and a metalloprotein, modulating copper transport and metabolism(Turner et al. 2003, Priller et al. 2006, Kong et al. 2007). The parent protein, the 695 770 amino acid APP, in most cell types undergoes the non amyloidogenic pathway. Cleavage of the APP protein can occur at many sites within the cell, including the trans Golgi network, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amyloidogenic version of the pathway involves cleavage by secretase followed by the secretase (see figure 6), releasing the 40 43 amino acid amyloid beta (A) peptide, thought to cause the neurodegenerative disease(Selkoe 2001, Findeis 2007). The enzymatic action of secretase leaves a C terminal fragment known as APP CTF or C99, within the membrane and releases APPs into the extracellular space. After A peptide generation by secretase from the C99 fragment, the A peptide is extracellularly secreted(Rogaeva et al. 2007). Most of the A peptides produced are 40 amino acids long, however it is thought in the diseased state the usual 10% of A peptide production increases, causing havoc within the cell and the surrounding environment(Vasto et al. 2008). This longer form (A 42 42 ) is more hydrophobic and fibrillates more easily, and is also controversially thought to be more neurotoxic than the A peptide(Selkoe 2001, Findeis ... • 17. Wireless Networks And Network For Future Of Mobile... Every day the wireless communication is getting more advanced comparing to what is was yesterday. Every generation of mobile communication get advanced with a higher speed, frequency band, better connectivity, security and high data rates in transmission. For all these reasons, it s clear how the 4G is success more than the 3G networks, and the same thing will happen to the 4G after lunching the 5G in the near future. In this paper, I will try to describe the 4G networks and 5G networks in contest of future of mobile communications. What are their drawbacks and what are the main differences between these different generations along with the issues that make the new network take over that network. 2 Background: A look back in the history, the first generation of telephony (1G) started in the early of 1980s. This network was designed to carry analog voice data. The (1G) networks were based on these standard TACS, NMT, C Nets and AMPS. In the early of 1990s the (2G) networks came as a digital network comparing to the analog in (1G). That was the first digital cellular network after the switches that were supported digital calls by using actual 0s and 1s. The (2G) networks were supported by these standards D AMPS, Code Division Multiple Access One (CDMAOne) and Global System of Mobile Communication (GSM). The second generation of telephony (2G) was offered a higher capacity, improved security and improved the voice quality. The (2G) technology was offered a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general, to control what we can and can t do with the media and hardware we ve purchased. 1. Historical perspective of DRM The practices of copyright protection and DRM have been around since decades ago. In fact, when the Altair BASIC was first introduced in 1975, the Homebrew Computer Club (a computer hobbyists club) member made unauthorized copies of Altair basic software and distributed them at the club meeting. At that time, MITS Company licensed the software from Micro soft (now Microsoft). Although MITS has been selling thousand computers a month, Micro Soft wasn t getting much royalty fees since basic copies have been distributed illegally. This led to the famous open letter open letter to hobbyists by Bill Gates which he expressed his frustrations towards the hobbyists. In the letter, he said As the majority of hobbyists must be aware, most of you steal your software. Hardware must be paid for, but software is something to share. Who cares if the people who worked on it get paid? Is this fair? But the first implementation of DRM only came about in 1983 by Japanese Engineer Ryoichi Mori and it was implemented in Software Service System (SSS) which is later redefined as Superdistribution. The main focus of SSS was to protect the unauthorized copying by encryption. The SSS would include a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Social Control Theory Affects Criminal Behavior How Social Control Theory and Life Course Theory effect criminal behavior Mason Campbell Barge 900259391 University of North Georgia Criminology 11/17/14 How Social Control Theory and Life Course Theory effect criminal behavior Social control theory and life course theory focus on people s lives and how they interact with one another. The basic idea of the life course theory is that people s life experiences, both good and bad, determine what kind of person that they will be later in life. This does not mean that just because a person who had a good childhood, lived in a wealthy home, and had good parents, will continue to be a good person. The same can be said for people who had a bad childhood. Children who got in fights and disrespected authority figures may not continue to do that later on in life. A life course theorist would say this is because there are turning points in these people s lives that they go through. These turning points cause a person to change their current life course (Siegel, 2013, p. 305). For example a teenage boy who, regularly attends school, stays active in his community, and has good grades, decides to celebrate his success by smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol with some friends. The police show up and arrest the young man for drug possession and underage drinking. Now the young man has a criminal record and waste some of his time in jail. • 20. The Veto And Veto Legislation The Constitution gives the President the authority to veto legislation passed by Congress. This power is significant for the president because it gives him the power to prevent the passage of legislation. The president doesn t even have to use the veto. The President warning of a veto can bring changes in the details of the legislation before the bill is presented to the President. The Constitution gives the President 10 days (not including Sundays) to act on legislation or the legislation automatically becomes law. There are two types of vetoes: the regular veto and the pocket veto. The regular veto is a qualified negative veto. The President returns the unsigned legislation to the originating house of Congress within a 10 day period usually with a message of disapproval. Congress can, however, override the President s decision if it has the necessary two thirds vote of each house. The pocket veto is a veto that cannot be overridden. The veto becomes effective when the President fails to sign a bill after Congress has adjourned and is unable to override the veto. The authority of the pocket veto is derived from the Constitution, the Congress by their adjournment prevent its return, in which case, it shall not be law. Congress and the President have argued over the use of the pocket veto. The President has attempted to use the pocket veto during inter session adjournments and Congress has frowned upon this use of the veto. The Legislative Branch states that the ... We divided the original formula by a: x^2+b/c x+c/a=0/a since 0/a we still have our quadratic equation. Subtract that c/a in both sides: x^2+b/c x+c/a c/a= c/a remember that b/a is b/2(a) now we will have to add it to the root of two: x^2+b/a x+b^2/(4a^2 )=b^2/(4a^2 ) c/a next is to set up our denominators to be the same we should have (x+b/2a)^2=b^2/(4a^2 ) 4ac/(4a^2 ) now that our denominators are the same we need to combine like terms: (b^2 4ac)/(4a^2 ) in this step it resembles somewhat a part of the quadratic formula but we still missing more steps. We will now find where does it increases and decreases, this should be easy now that we have our vertex and knowledge that all quadratic equations are parabolas. We know that the domain is ( ∞,∞) any line coming from the negative side it will decrease while the positive side will increase. Then the side that is decreasing will stop to decrease at ( ∞,1/4), it will then begin to increase at (1/4,∞). This time we are finding the x and y intercept, beginning with the x intercept we are going to use the discriminant of the quadratic equation which is b^2 4ac. Plugging the numbers, it will be ( 1)^2 4(2)(2) the solution will be a negative fifteen. The rule of a discriminant is that there cannot be negative numbers for x, this time there are no x intercept. the x intercept does not exist we will replace it with a zero so the y intercept can be found, by plugging the numbers y=2(0)^2 0+2 we will have the answer of y=2. The Effect Of Detrital Zircon Dating On South Australia Introduction With the use of detrital zircon dating, and minor use of authigenic monazite dating, estimations of age constraints can be applied to the Proterozoic basins on the south Australian island, Tasmania. Zircon minerals occur as a trace component in many sedimentary rocks. Therefore due to its widespread occurrence and its relative resistance to both mechanical and chemical weathering, which enhances its chance of survival through processes of transportation, dating methods through zircon minerals have become a standard for dating sedimentary basins (Black et al). The Rocky Cape Group of northwest Tasmania provides an insight into the record of the passive margin sedimentation and has the potential to constrain Tasmania s position historically within the meso neoproterozoic supercontinent reconstructions (Halpin). A number of studies have been conducted such as Black et al (2004) Berry et al (2008) and Halpin et al (2014), mainly on the Western Tasmanian Terrane, in an effort to constrain a position in past supercontinent amalgamations and to challenge the hypothesis of many supercontinent models such as SWEAT and AUSWUS that Tasmania was positioned in close proximity to the past North American continent, Laurentia. • 32. The Theme Of Democracy In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself Heming Chen American Literature Ms. Crowl 1 December, 2017 I Could Be You The word democracy has its roots in the ancient Greek combination of dēmos, meaning the people, and kratía, meaning power or rule: literally translating as the rule or power of the people . To simplify the term further, Democracy is an arrangement in which individuals have similar equality in power. First conceptualized and adopted by the Athenians in fifth century B.C, democracy has made itself to be known as a powerful and popular government model today, in use by over 60% of modern day countries. Walt Whitman utilizes the theme of democracy in his poem, Song of Myself, not only encouraging it as a system, but also as a way of life, seeking unity in all. Although Whitman uses the seemingly singular pronoun I in his poems, he is not using the pronoun to signify only himself but also the rest of humanity as a unified entity. Whitman opens his poem with the words I celebrate myself, and sing myself, / And what I assume you shall assume, / For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you (1 3). The first line, its meaning initially seeming rather cryptic, becomes more discernable once the universal I is employed. It then becomes evident that Whitman is intending his poem to be a celebration of humankind. Interestingly enough, the usage of sing in such context almost brings the reader back again to the classics, reminiscent of the epics of old. While all definitions of assume apply for the ...
